Hi! I saw your svsss art and your style seemed familiar and nostalgic. It reminded me of a comic I used to read in 2016ish(?). It was a big favorite, but lost track of it when it was no longer listed on hiveworks. I looked for it a few times since, but "magic theory + circles" got me nowhere.
Scrolling through your blog, I found it - Sfeer theory!! It's so gratifying to find it again. I reread it immediately. It's a great story with complex worldbuilding. Your art style is wonderful! It feels so nuanced and intentional. There's this flow to your comics, across the panels. Characters are so expressive and real. And it's distinctive enough for me to recognize after all this time, wow!
So, I guess I'm saying, thanks!! Love your art and ty for sharing it. I'm very glad to have seen it :)
Gosh what a wonderful message to find in my inbox! Glad you found the comic again and that it still stands strong to you.
A lot of our projects (Sfeer Theory def top of the list) has been under an unofficial hiatus for a while now since roughly 2020. My father passed at the start of the lockdown. and it had a pretty big impact on my life as it served as a catalyst to completely re-examine and re-evaluate how I work and the way I create. There were other very major upheavels happened since then which only reinforced how important it was that I focus on myself.
My evolution has centered on what kind of artistic journey I want to actually have rather than be compelled to burn myself out surviving. Nearly 4 years later, I've really completely restructured my life for the better. I'm healthier, both physically and mentally, and as a result my art also has been better for it. At the moment I'm solely focused on getting back to my grind with better grounding under my feet.
I think of Sfeer Theory every day and in fact have started working on pages again since the late spring of this year, but I don't want to make promises about when updates will start again. I just feel I owe some kind of explanation to waiting fans.
Sfeer Theory is a story I absolutely will see through to finishing, I just needed to figure myself out. Please look forward to it starting up again sooner than later.

An ask game for writers to procrastinate working on your WIPs
Thank you for tagging me @ic3-que3n @theearlgreymage @wellbelesbian @shrekgogurt @orange-peony @youarenevertooold @whatevertheweather @thewholelemon @cutestkilla @aristocratic-otter @monbons @emeryhall @valeffelees (wow everyone is out here playing huh?)
🦈Tell us the name of your / one of your WIP(s)
As of right now, I’m going with Back and Back and Back but that may change.
🍄Decscribe your wip / one of your wips in the format of “___ + ___ =___”
Past flashbacks in which Baz grows up being visited by an older Simon in the woods outside his house in Hampshire + current 7th year Simon suddenly finds himself traveling back in time to visit young Baz = both Simon and Baz trying to figure out what’s happening in the present, resulting in them falling in love in a mesh of past and present
🌍What tags or warnings will your / one of your wip(s) need if you intend to share it?
Soulmates, time travel, canon divergent, Watford-era, angst with a happy ending, kid!Baz, lightly inspired by Time Traveler’s Wife.
🧭An alternative title to your / one of your WIP(s)?
I mentioned this last week, but I quite like Start at the End, even though I don’t think it technically is accurate or describes the fic.
⚠️Which wip you’re most likely to finish or update next?
Idk, this one will be quite long, but everything else in my WIP folder are just attempts at starting a premise I liked, but none of them have gotten much traction, so probably this one? Hopefully?
💾What is your document of your wip / a wip called? (not the stories actual title but what you’ve saved it as)
Time Travel AU
🖍Post Any sentence from your wip
He whistles, looking around and finally taking the time to fully appreciate the tree house.
“Did you make this?”
“With help,” I explain. “Some from Father. Mostly from you.”
His eyebrows raise in surprise. That’s one thing I’ve yet to figure out, why he forgets. Sometimes, he remembers our past visits with more detail than I do. As if they’d just happened the day before instead of years ago. Other times, he can’t remember something as big as building a treehouse with me. He reminds me of my grandmother, when her dementia had its grips on her. She’d recall something from her childhood so clearly, and the next minute, she’d forget my name.
Father didn’t want me to call attention to it in front of her. He said it would only make her more confused. So I don’t mention it to him, either. We just sort of…dance around it, without mentioning it outright. (He’d fit right in with my family, honestly.) I just clarify things and then we move on.
♻️A scrapped idea for your current WIP
I was thinking about having the Humdrum be a time traveling younger Simon, or something like that, in addition to current Simon being a time traveler. Like, they discover there’s another version of him traveling, but I thought that would be too confusing. So instead, he’s just the regular ol’ Humdrum.
🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?
I have a lil Drabble in my head about Baz being sad while his wedding ring is getting fixed by the jewelers for a week so Simon has to cheer him up. (It me. Rubbing my empty ring finger all week while it’s getting fixed and I hate it not being there.)
🤡How many Wips are you actively working on?
Actively? I think just this one right now. There are about 4 other half starts from earlier this year when I was just throwing spaghetti noodles at the wall to see what stuck. Some of them I may come back to if I get a burst of inspiration or something.
🛠Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?
(One of) the big reveals because the scene carries a lot of emotional weight, and I want to do it right.
❤️Not a question, just a second kudos to send.
And kudos to anyone who read this far!
Anyone else want to play? @facewithoutheart @hushed-chorus @iamamythologicalcreature @ileadacharmedlife @blackberrysummerblog @run-for-chamo-miles @mooncello @angelsfalling16 @artsyunderstudy and anyone else interested! 💜

An ask game for writers to procrastinate working on your WIP(s)
Hey all! Thanks so much for tagging me @wellbelesbian, @aristocratic-otter, @valeffelees, @you-remind-me-of-the-babe, @ivelovedhimthroughworse and @iamamythologicalcreature! You’ve all correctly determined that I am procrastinating writing.
1. 🐬Tell us the name of your/ one of your WIP(s)
I actually don’t have any that are named at this point. Titles and tags are really difficult for me and I put both off to the last minute and second-guess myself into hell
2. 🍄Decriscribe your wip/one of your wips in the format of “___ + ___=___”
Popular movie retelling + flying goats = Baz and Dev have A Spot of Bother
3. 🌍What tags or warnings will your / one of your wip(s) need if you intend to share it?
Wraaaugugh, see #1 :P. I don’t know, in seriousness, I think the WIP mentioned above will end up getting a tag for sexual harassment or something like that given the nature of one necessary scene in the movie it’s based on. It’s not going to be worse than the source material, which is PG-13
4. 🧭An alternative title to your/ one of your WIP(s)?
Oh, to have so many ideas for titles that there’s ever an alternative lying around to spare :(
5. ⚠️Which wip your most likely to finish or update next?
I’m pretty likely to finish a sequel to Field Trip of Dreams (SEE WHAT I MEAN about titles?) this week. The eighth years are off on another field trip—this time it’s a weekend training excursion with the Mage. Baz and Simon have been dating for the short time that’s passed since FToD, but they manage to get in a fight on the bus trip to Scafell Pike, and when it turns into a sort-of-tussle the Mage mistakes it for actual animosity and sends them off to a secluded cabin to bang (I mean work🙄) it out. Absolutely everybody but Davy—including the other teachers—knows exactly how much of a “punishment” this is
6. 💾 What is your document of your wip/ a wip called? (not the stories actual title but what you've saved it as)
Practical magic au
7. 🖍️Post Any sentence from your wip
“Shut up, Gareth!” we shout as one, Snow adding a few brutish threats as Gareth pales and turns back around in his seat.
8. ♻️A scrapped idea for your current WIP
I actually can’t remember. I don’t plot my writing out very extensively so in a sense there’s hundreds of little scrapped thoughts rather than anything huge. I’m eliminating a lot of things with my crucible marriage fic, but it’s hard to say right now what’s actually gone or just being moved around. I know a major one I’ve been battling with is that prior to getting dragged off to Pitch Manor by his new husband Baz, I want Simon to have been living with Penny in a flat of their own, but for another aspect of the story I want him to have been living with the Mage in Watford (which is an au mage’s settlement in the fic) as well. There’s ways to work around it for the results I want, I just haven’t written it out yet.
9. 🤔What's a story you'd love to write but haven't even started yet?
I’m pretty sure I have at least a few lines written down for everything I want to write
10. 🤡How many Wips are you actively working on?
Oh, man…actively, probably the field trip one and my COBB. Somewhat less actively: a reverse COBB fic, a sequel to Monsters Under the Bed, a sequel to After Hours where Simon makes good on his promise to despoil Baz on his office desk, and my unending crucible marriage fic. Less active than that: a fic response to a prompt for Simon being the one kidnapped and Baz has to rescue him. There’s probably (cough*definitely*cough) some pretty messed-up OOC smut stuff lying around in my docs as well, that I add to when I’m in the mood and have zero plans to ever post
11. 🛠️Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?
I keep telling myself to just write and stop worrying about this for the moment, but I’m kind of bumming myself out worrying about whether I want to use first or third person, as well as past or present tense, for my COBB. I think the issue is that some scenes are bound to play out better one way while others would be better served differently. This is not usually a thing I struggle with.
12. ❤️Not a question, just a second kudos to send.
🥰
This was fun! (Once I stopped putting it off, lol). No pressure tagging (and sorry if I get anyone who’s already done it): @cutestkilla, @mooncello, @artsyunderstudy, @prettygoododds, @drowninginships, @hushed-chorus, @bookish-bogwitch, @thewholelemon, @brilla-brilla-estrellita, @youarenevertooold, @ileadacharmedlife, @facewithoutheart, @imagineacoolusername, @ic3-que3n

Howdy! I'm not really in the Cars fandom anymore but this stupid person has been spamming me with these stupid messages and I just wanted to let you know all of her blogs that I've seen so far.

Those are all Chloe's alts that I've seen, I'm just curious if she's going after Team Fortress 2 blogs now or if she's doing this because I was in the Cars fandom... Over 3 years ago. (That's right, she's held a grudge against me because 3 years ago I didn't want to do a RP with her.)
Thank you so much for the info and update, I really appreciate it.
Yeah, I've been seeing Chloe popping up across multiple fandoms and social medias, since about August of this year. Several individuals in the fandom have also reported these appearances, from Ao3, to Tumblr, to Reddit and Wattpad.
The unfortunate thing is that because of the nature of this person and their insistence on attacking any and all people that even remotely connect to the World of Cars fandom, and their constant changing of accounts, the only thing we can all really do if they show up at our doorstep is to continuously block, report, and cease any and all direct interactions.
Just a reminder too to any folks that are/were at any point in the fandom, if you are getting messages, asks, comments, or other materials saying things like these, you're not alone and it's definitely not personal. This troll of a user has been attempting to target and harass various people for I shit you not literal *years*. Many people have been attempting to curb this issue, but unfortunately as of right now, the only things we can do is to keep doing what we've been doing: block on sight, and do not interact.
Y'all stay safe out there still, and don't let the Chloe bastard here win. You go post all the WoC content you want to, and you hold your heads up high. There's community here that won't tell you to off yourself for something that you didn't do. In times like this, I absolutely urge you to reach out to other content creators and make connections with people. Good things can come out of bad situations, and a lot of the trolling that Chloe has done so far unintentionally brought a lot of WoC people closer together as a result.
Best of luck to all of you, and thank you again for this information my friend!

shutter-click, the afterword:
author's corner/first thoughts.
firstly, to those of you who know what it's like, and those of you who don't, i hope i did these themes justice. i'm not sure if this is an entirely accurate representation - i tried to take some of my own experiences and exaggerate it into what fit for my vision of the story. i apologize if i have trivialized any aspect of it. also there is like. negative actual romance like the tension is not there bc i imagine them to be pure balls of sweetness and fluff and like. it will probably happen? but like 5 years down the line. i called this story shutter-click partially after the sound of a camera, and partially because when i think of pictures now, i think of the importance of the memories present in them. it could be the ugliest picture you have ever seen, and yet it still means something to someone, because it reminds them of something they might have forgotten once upon a time. that's also why the reader names the first collection shutter-click - in part in reference to the title, but also the importance of these 'pictures' that are carried on throughout life. i.e. nanny's grin, the first person to ever believe in them, which also helps them overcome a great many barriers. ngl i didnt think about the rest of the art. maybe the rest should also be smile-inspired. but i am not going to call it the smile collection. this was also in no way sunflower caliber LOL sorry. genuinely have no clue i feel like the pacing was really fast. too fast. shouldve probably spent more time with the growth era. i will very likely revisit a similar concept eventually ok now that that's over - rant time. this was the brainchild of a discarded mc concept for another of my works. i couldn't quite get her character to fit with my vision, and then this was born. i wrote all of this in a day. i said i would take a break. well, i didn't. lowkey a hiatus time now <3 sorry. really wanted to get more work done on porcelain but then i was like WHAT IF and then i thought of a kiri fic. and then u know what i realized? mc is literally just katsuki like. i am in despair like now i really want to make porcelain a coming of age fic too. discovering oneself, forging yourself anew. what if it was a whole collection. oh my god. please send me some katsuki asks so i can brainrot over him instead (please) mentally i feel like the clown meme music and a thousand bouncing balls in my brain all at once. i have been listening to the same song for seven hours. this was also partially inspired off the prompt 'tragedy of a spare heir' but really reader is neither a spare nor a heir so ? ? ? dunno man i wasnt lying when i said i was tired seriously though, thank you to everyone who commented + liked shared my first work. i genuinely never expected to receive such a positive response, and i hope that this one is up to the same caliber. i still think im a god btw im genuinely on 4 hours of sleep and just churned out like. 10k? in less than 12 hours HAHAHA #if i don't laugh i am going to cry #i want to carve my brain out and examine it. these last few hours were such a blur but it's over. i feel both defeated and glorious at the same time. this was also significantly harder to write than sunflowers. that one was so nice. so easy. i miss it. im never hitting that peak again i think seriously though i think it's temp hiatus time i am emptied of thought will continue updating as i think of things i guess
unwritten scenes, headcanons, more ramble? no clue
i'm not sure if social anxiety disorder/selective mutism is necessarily something you are born with. i am aware that you can develop it as the results of past traumas, but in this case, there is very little explanation about that - it's left unexplained in the fic. could both be from hatred of cameras (ik i hate having photos taken of me lol), but again, a lot of this is entirely exaggerated and fictional. sorry. the nanny was supposed to die, but i am tired. so tired. i did not want to write an angst scene that had no relevance to the happiness of the plot. so now u guys just have the most tooth rotting fluff i have ever written in existence. she doesn't appear again in a lot of the later scenes, did i write her in alive? if i did: she actually lives forever. literally immortal idgaf more about the nanny: i imagined someone who also had difficulties in communication, and i hope that translated in the way her speech was very often broken? idk if that was accurate i wrote all of her dialogue at 3am and passed out right after. probably definitely isn't in japanese. my english was not englishing at this time. i hope it was made clear in the fic: everything that the reader that thought about herself and her relationships was wrong, with regards to the parents/sister. idk if this is accurate, but in my mind, and from my experience, my social anxiety at least is that i overthought a lot of things, misinterpreted a lot as well. soooo actually guys you DO have a loving family! i am saving the trauma for porcelain! honestly, i thought about this fic, and when i think of midoriya i just think of pure innocence lol. does it reflect ? similarly to sunflowers, the themes were childhood friendship and growth. i once again skip out on my proper kiss scene bc i think it would suit them even less than the ones in that one. but at least she kissed him on the cheek. it felt pretty ooc to me though so i think she shouldve just hugged him. at least there is also that the thing is though: you're the one to do everything first. he's really hesitant, because he still remembers you as you were, before you were out of your shell. he doesn't want to push you, overwhelm you in any way. you definitely have to be the one to initiate everything -> i just didnt think the hug + cheek kiss together was in character for me but whatever i wrote it i hope u enjoy you kiss him and hes an absolute fucking dorky mess . but honestly this is like every step in the relationship originally, the all might figurine you gift him was supposed to be a birthday present in return for the camera. this is just a fun fact. also i know both of the characters were both supposed to be insanely socially anxious but that would never have worked out so i took some liberties with it/midoriya's character. hope it still makes sense? also hope that his ramble was in-line with canon oh yeah there was supposed to be a side plot with the dead brother. i cannot tell you what it was, seeing as how i do not remember. probably some form of traumatic thing i removed from porcelain reader doesn't have a described quirk cause i am on negative brain juice and couldn't think. you can imagine that it is something art related if you'd like. but i didnt wanna yap more so.

Poll 5- Redemption
Tumblr media
First off, thank you so much to everyone who has been voting all week!! I can’t wait to get started on these to make this an EPIC birthday week. So the way redemption works is I took the 7 highest voted fics from the previous 4 polls to give them another chance at victory. The winner of this poll will be updated on July 18th. I did copy and paste their summaries below again.
REMINDER!! July 19th (my actual birthday) is where I’ll unveil a new completed fic that I’ve been working on all year as a special gift for you. 🥰 So plenty of Sunny material about to come your way. If you haven’t gotten a chance to see the results of the previous polls, refer back to this materlist for this event.
Just to See You Happy- Frodo Time Travel Fix-It; Frodo has carried the Ring and deserves as much rest as any mortal can bear. He refuses to see his mission as complete until Bilbo finds his happiness. When Valinor does not hold the answer he needs, he launches himself into the past into an adventure that doesn’t belong to him all in the hope of finding Bilbo’s happiness.
A Mother’s Curse- Reverse Werewolf AU; A mistake made during the Fell Winter has turned Bilbo into a werewolf. Having always wondered if there was a way to reverse his curse, Gandalf believes he has found the answer. And it will require Bilbo to travel with a company of thirteen dwarves determined to take back their homeland from a dragon.
Ghost of a Chance- Wedding/Ghost of the Past AU; Bilbo’s young co-worker, Tauriel, needs somebody to walk her down the aisle at her wedding and turns to her “work-dad”. Bilbo had been all for helping her out until he gets to the venue and is faced with Thorin Oakenshield. A man he had left in the past after he escaped out a window during their one night together. However, the older and charming version of the man he met in uni is slowly winning him over. Which will come in handy because Bilbo is fairly certain he is being stalked by a ghost at this hotel…
Guarding Alliances- Guardian of Kings sequel; Bilbo Baggins, Ushmar Uzbâdu and newly engaged to the King of Erebor, must now face a challenge of a different kind: a manipulative Elf King. However, with his own brand of finding trouble and getting out of it again, Bilbo may just be able to get to the heart of the matter and improve relations between their kingdoms forever.
From the Pieces of Your Shattered Memories- Paramedic/Anmesia AU; Bilbo was just checking on a coma patient that he might have a teensy little crush on. That was it. Even though he’s a paramedic, his job doesn’t get terribly exciting. Now, he’s on the run with said man who can’t even remember who he is as they escape assassins and potentially uncover a plot that will destroy Erebor from the top.
Bedding Burglars and Chasing Dragons- Mafia/Detective AU; When Thorin Oakenshield transferred to Ered Luin PD, there was really only one thing on his mind: finally catch the monster that destroyed his family. However, he quickly learns Ered Luin lives under the rule of the local mafia and figures the only way to catch Smaug is to pretend to be a dirty cop and make nice with the supposed crime boss known only as “The Burglar”.
Outdated Version 1 | Outdated Version 2 (chances are I’ll still use the scenes but role reverse between Bilbo and Thorin)
In a Garden of Dreams, I Plant Memories- Afterlife AU; Bilbo had received a high honor. He was the gardener. Every morning, he would go out and tend to the souls planted in his garden, listening to their dreams and helping them to grow. One morning, he went out and found something different. A dwarf waiting for him who seemed to believe he had known him long ago.

Five years ago, after a near-fatal construction accident, my doctor came to my hospital bed with the results of an ECG the night nurses forced on me because every single time they’d ask me how I’m feeling, I’d say “I’m fine” and then throw a dazed mini-tantrum until they’d all leave me to just- well, I did and didn’t know I was dying. However I was feeling, I wanted to feel it alone. Anyway, my doctor told me that if I did not get a blood transfusion within the next 2 hours, I’d die. He called me reckless for not being honest with the nurses. For the next hour they scoured every local hospital for my type (the rarest) and I was painfully alone in my hospital room. Dying really brought some contradicting feelings. I was ready to die, just kind of accepted it. I was panicked but also very welcoming about the prospect of death. I wanted my partner there so desperately that if my body had any energy I would have cried from how scared and alone I felt. I knew if I called she’d make the trip to the city where I was hospitalised. But I also refused to call her and keep her (honestly and accurately) updated on my wellbeing. I didn’t want her to watch me die (which I was so sure I would do because I was in and out of consciousness for three days, could actually hear my heart failing in my ears, and see the the gradual darkening of the peripherals of my vision). I knew she’d hurt, and I knew she’d beg me to fight, and I literally had neither energy nor desire to fight what I felt was a lost battle. I got my blood transfusion in the end and of course survived. I still waited a full day before I casually Whatsapped (yes, text, not even a call. I swear I’m a good guy) my partner telling her that I narrowly evaded death but she’s got nothing to worry about because I was watching Good Morning Britain while drinking OJ. She made that fucking trip, which I wanted and didn’t want her to make, and she stayed for the next four days until I was discharged.
I’m sharing this because while chapters 3 and 4 of Sea Glass Gardens could not go into much details of what it is like to be dying and know you’re dying in front of a loved one, and the internal conflict of wanting and not wanting to be alone as it happens (because this is all Yuuta’s POV), you did an excellent job of capturing what it would all look and sound like to a third party looking in. Even down to Tsumiki refusing to let go of Megumi’s hand. The nurses hand to change the location of my cannulas to my foot and my scalp because my hands were so bruised from them having been held by my partner for hours. Much like Megumi I also have an issue with emotional expressions and declarations. In chapter 8 when Tsumiki asks him how he is feeling and he redirects to asking her if she got home okay, I was reminded of when I woke up to find my partner, replying to her “How are you feeling” with “Why are you here? Did you request time off school?”.
Idk, I guess this is my longwinded way of saying “excellent execution of capturing what it feels like to be dying in front of a loved one, from all the different perspectives”.
So, this has been buried in my ask box for a while, which is unfortunate, because it's a very meaningful message I'm very grateful to have received. It sounds like you went through a lot with this, and I did want to thank you very genuinely for sharing this. I feel like with art we're just banging pots and pans in the wilderness seeing if we get some kind of faint clanging back sometimes.
It's really hard to share these kinds of vulnerable details like this, and I'm grateful you shared this with me. I wish you the best.

In light of all the horrid stuff going on in this country lately, I would just like to remind everyone that england isn’t a totally terrible place!!
This country is full of beautiful architecture, art, literature, and natural beauties that are sometimes hard to believe are real.
Tumblr media
This is the Major Oak of Sherwood Forest, and is estimated to be as much as 1100 years old!! It is estimated at 23 tons, and is 33 feet in girth/10 metres. According to local folklore, it is the tree where Robin Hood and his merry men slept when in the forest.
Tumblr media
This is Durdle Door, in Dorset. It’s a natural limestone formation on the jurrassic coast, which was deemed “of such international geographic importance” that it was England’s first foray natural World Heritage site with UNESCO in 2001, joining the Grand Canyon and the Great Barrier Reef (visit-dorset.com)
As for architecture, we have the iconic Highclere Castle
Tumblr media
Most well known for its use in iconic historical drama Downton Abbey, first written records of the Highclere estate date back to the year 749 when the estate was granted to the bishops of Winchester. In the late 14th century the bishop of Winchester William of Wykeham built himself a palace on the property, and was taken by Edward VI during the reformation in 1551. It was then granted to the Fitzwilliam family, rebuilt in 1679 by then owner Sir Robert Sawyer, who then bequeathed it to his daughter Margaret, first wife to the 8th earl of Pembroke, Thomas herbert, and it remains in the hands of the Herbert family to date, albeit the branch that resulted in the current Earl of Carnarvon. It was redesigned in the years 1842-49 to the facade we know today. (Quick side note, I am directly related to the herbert family through my great grandfather, so carnarvon I’m coming for you watch out)
We also have of course, the ever iconic Chatsworth house
Tumblr media
IYKYK. Jk this incredible house is most well known for its use as Pemberley, the Derbyshire residence of Mr Darcy in the 2005 production of Pride and Prejudice (the best film ever made thank you very much).
The Manor of Chetesuorde is listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as property of the crown in the custody of William de Peverel. Chatsworth ceased to be a large estate until the 15th century when it was purchased by the Leche family. They enclosed the first park and built a house on what is now the south east part of the gardens. The lands were sold in 1549 to Sir William Cavendish, husband of Bess of Hardwick (who was the “keeper” of Mary Queen of Scots while imprisoned. Also apparently her grandson married ANOTHER of my ancestors so I’m related to her too?? What the fuck I need to stop learning family history on the fly). Bess began to build her own home on the property from 1553 to the 1560s.
The home was renovated a truly mindboggling amount of times, as is the amount of times it changed hands. So I’ll keep it simple. A great number of important changes were made by the 4th duke of Devonshire, greatly changing the layout of the home. His son would marry Georgiana Spencer, 4 times great aunt of princess Diana (and YET ANOTHER RELATIVE OF MINE! From another branch of the family!! I need to call my mother. And update my ancestry.com).
In 1811 the 6th duke of Devonshire inherited Chatsworth, and proceeded to transform it into the wonderful beacon of regency romance we know and adore today over the course of his stewardship over the property.
These are only four incredible natural and historical landmarks in England. There are so many more that I could spend 3 life times researching!! (And so many more that have nothing to do with my family history, I promise. Swear I wasn’t doing this on purpose lmao)
This country can be a fucking nightmare, but it’s also a beautiful country with incredible sights and history, and I think we do ourselves a disservice when we forget that. It’s okay to love England (I fucking adore this country you have no idea, wouldn’t be running a blog if I didn’t!), you aren’t a bad person or supporting the bad shit we’ve done if you are proud of being English.
Because don’t get me wrong this country has perpetrated some of the worst shit in history, but we’ve also contributed some of the most important literature and scientific discoveries ever!!
Mary Anning revolutionised the field of paleontology!! Mary Shelley started the entire sci fi genre. Steven hawkin, Charles Darwin, Dorothy Hodgkin and Rosalind franklin discovered DNA! Isaac Newton, William Blake, John Keats, Byron, Alan Turing, Branwell, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne bronte, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais, John William Waterhouse, to name a few merely off the top of my head!
England can be a wonderful place, and our heritage can be incredible and a legacy to be truly proud of. It would not do to forget, however, that a lot of our history would not have been possible without queer and ethnic minority groups. We all know a good deal of English wealth came from the slave trade, female scientists and artists often had credit for their work stripped from them and given to husbands or even strangers, and a good number of our most influential scientists and artists were very notably queer who were treated incredibly poorly and sometimes killed, and these are facts that can and do exist simultaneously.
Our heritage is wonderful, but it is still being made today. Things that we do now will be landmark events for our descendants, and it is our duty to do better for this country than our ancestors.

How should I improve the rating of my app in the Google app store?
Improving the rating of your app in the Google Play Store is crucial for attracting more users, enhancing your app's visibility, and driving higher downloads. High ratings not only build trust but also play a significant role in Google Play's ranking algorithm, which can lead to better organic reach. Here are some actionable steps to help you improve your app's rating and why ASOeShop is the ideal partner for boosting your app's ratings.
1. Deliver a High-Quality User Experience
User experience (UX) is everything. A smooth, intuitive, and bug-free app is essential. Users are more likely to leave positive reviews if they find your app useful and enjoyable.
Design: Ensure your app has a clean, user-friendly interface. Use standard navigation patterns and keep the design consistent throughout the app.
Performance: Optimize your app for speed. No one likes an app that crashes or lags. Regularly test your app on different devices to ensure it runs smoothly.
Functionality: Make sure all features work as intended. Regularly update your app to fix bugs and add new, useful features.
2. Solicit User Feedback
Engage with your users. Encourage them to leave reviews and ratings. Here’s how you can do it:
In-app prompts: Use well-timed prompts asking for reviews. Avoid being intrusive; the best time to ask is after a user has completed a positive action, like finishing a level in a game or successfully using a key feature.
Email campaigns: Send follow-up emails requesting feedback and reviews. Personalized emails can make users feel valued and more likely to respond positively.
Social media: Engage with your community on social media and gently remind them to rate your app.
3. Respond to Reviews
Show that you care about your users’ opinions. Responding to reviews, both positive and negative, shows that you value feedback and are committed to improving your app.
Thank positive reviewers: A simple thank you can go a long way in building a loyal user base.
Address negative feedback: Be polite and professional. Acknowledge the issue and inform the user about the steps you are taking to fix it.
4. Regular Updates
Keep your app fresh and relevant. Regular updates show users that you are committed to the app and its improvement.
Bug fixes: Address known issues promptly.
New features: Introduce features that enhance user experience based on feedback.
Performance improvements: Optimize app performance regularly to ensure a smooth experience.
5. Optimize Your App Listing
Your app’s listing is its first impression. Make sure it’s compelling and informative.
App icon: Use a professional, eye-catching icon.
Screenshots and videos: Include high-quality screenshots and a demo video to showcase the app’s features.
Description: Write a clear, concise, and keyword-rich description. Highlight the app’s unique features and benefits.
Keywords: Use relevant keywords to improve your app’s visibility in search results.
6. Monitor Analytics
Track your app’s performance. Use analytics tools to understand user behavior and identify areas for improvement.
User engagement: Monitor how users interact with your app. Identify and address drop-off points.
Crash reports: Keep an eye on crash reports and fix issues promptly.
User demographics: Understand who your users are and tailor your app to meet their needs.

Nate Morefield emailed some St Patrick's Day pictures: "Hey Marc, pictures are still trickling in, but attached are a few from 3/17 and 3/18.
In terms of funny material, maybe our tune Another Drink might qualify?  It's about a guy who's missing his ex, but mostly because he needs her to fix him another drink...  Just a thought."
Ben Doran emailed a St Pat's photos: "Hello Marc, thanks for the invite to share photos. Here's a couple from the Friday night Wild Hog in the Woods Folk Collective's St. Patrick's Bash -  -  featuring myself, Lisa Johnson (as Leafy Greens), and friends Casey Day and Greg Matysik.
And for funny songs? We there's Makem/Spain  Bros. "Mr. La DeDaDeDum", but a big bully for you if you can find the rare, "The Second Hand Trouser's I bought in Belcoo" written by Martin McConnell, I believe (brother to the excellent columnist/story teller, Cormac McConnell).
Slan go foill."
Melissa Wade of Wild Blue Yonder emailed some photos: "Great to hear from you, Marc! We did have a good  -  and very busy  -  St. Patrick's Day! We played three shows in three days, traveling through wind, rain and cold to several different towns. Happy belated birthday to you, as well!!
Attached are a few pics from our celebrations. The posed shot is at Anakeesta Mountaintop Adventure Park in Gatlinburg, where we played on St. Patrick's Day. Taking our Irish Celtic music high up in the Great Smoky Mountains to entertain for the holiday was most fitting and special. And while the howling wind and blowing rain were less than pleasant, they gave us the sense of actually being in Ireland!
Thanks again for writing, and for all you do for Celtic musicians! We love your show."
Sean Malloy of Band o'Brothers emailed a photo: "Hey Marc!  Happy Belated Birthday & St. Patrick’s Day!  Hope you had a wonderful time and a wonderful gig with your daughters.
Attached is a picture of Band O’Brothers as we prepared to roll through the streets of New Haven in the St. Patrick’s Day parade.  We had a blast playing out songs for the joyful people along the parade route, and after we completed the parade route we even stopped our float outside a neighborhood bar to play a few songs for the revelers.  We had a great day!"
  Check out this episode!

S-DRAMA - a ReShade preset by amoebae
S-Drama is a ReShade preset made at the request of one of my lovely patrons, asha (https://unasyns.tumblr.com/). Their brief was for something that reminded them of the Korean dramas they'd been watching recently. The sample photographs they gave me had cool, teal tones, and a gentle desaturation. They wanted to avoid warm, orange tones. And they wanted something that looked good at night and indoors, too.
The result is S-Drama.
You can find an album of example screenshots here.
S-Drama is a lightweight preset, with all the colour information contained in a bespoke multilut, made by me. There are two luts to choose from, and they can be switched between at any time depending on the mood:
S-Drama 01 - Default (this looks best in most daytime exterior situations)
S-Drama 02 - Desaturated (I think this looks best at night, in daytime cloudy weather, and in some indoor situations)
There are, as always with my presets, additional effects that can be toggled on whenever you want to give a little bit something extra special to your screenshots. The more of them you enable, the greater the performance impact, but most PCs and laptops from the past 4 or 5 years shouldn't have too much trouble with them. If you can run The Sims on maximum settings you should be fine!
There are full installation and usage instructions in my download. Please read them! S-Drama was made using ReShade 4.9.1.

With huge thanks to everyone involved in the ReShade project, and with special thanks to asha for requesting this preset, which I'm absolutely obsessed with especially in the Spice District at night!
Update: 2021-07-21: I left a texture file out of the download. Please redownload if you don’t already have DirtA.png in your Textures folder!!! It’s needed for the PPFX_Bloom.fx shader.I’m sorry!!!

mie….could we please get college au eren headcanons👉🏽👈🏽
Of course. I’m always thinking about his big head anyway <33 might as well put it good use.
One thing he learned in college is how to make his hyperfocus/fixation episodes work for him; that’s why he schedules all his classes as close together as possible. He’d rather have class back to back for 5 hours, than have it spread out with hours in between lectures, because that increases his changes of cutting.
You can always tell when he’s in class and/or what class he’s in by how much he responds to your messages. If he doesn’t text back at all, he’s in a class that hard or one he enjoys, or both. But if he’s sending you iMessage games, then you know he’s in his elective that he couldn’t care else about (and is probably cheating in someway somehow lmfao).
He usually puts his phone on dnd when he’s in a class that’s important, but you’re in his favorite contacts, so your messages always ring through. What if it’s an emergency and you need him for something? Advanced Roots of Human Biology can wait.
Some days there are one or two our breaks between his lectures, that’s just how the scheduling works out. When that happens, he usually sneaks into one of your lectures, or goes to your place to take a nap. Your roommates have become accustomed to him, honestly they’ve been considering giving him a key.
Once, he didn’t realize that your lecture was basically a seminar, with you, the prof and maybe six other students. He still stayed lmao, and the prof was so amazed by his dedication, that she didn’t even mind. Occasionally, you’ll catch the two of them talking after lecture. It’s pretty cute the way she’s adopted him into the class even tho he’s not on the roster.
You... have to show him where the library is lmfao. He genuinely has not stepped foot in one until you bring him to one. He likes it tho lmao once he gets used to it.
Speaking of which, do not give him standard directions to find your classes on campus because all you’ll get is, “Babe, I’m gonna keep it real with you, I’ve never heard of the ‘West Quad’ a day in my life. What building are you near.”
He usually comes to see you in the library after all his lectures are done for the day. Sometimes he does homework, sometimes he’s just fucking around on his computer, sometimes he’s just bothering you. When you have to leave to go to class, he stays behind to watch your stuff so you don’t have to pack everything up and come back.
Very protective when it comes to keeping your seat for you. No, you cannot take that chair to your table you good for nothing freshman; it’s reserved for you.
He’ll drag you out of the library if you’ve been cooped up all day, tho. Eren will use his height and his strength against you to get you up. Placates you with kisses when he sees your angry expression, and promises to buy you food.
He takes your backpack for you when you’re walking together,m. His backpack is frustratingly light all the time, even during midterms. You swear all he’s got in there is a pencil and some flashcards.
If you have night classes, he sticks around to walk you home after, especially in the winter when it gets dark faster. If he’s not already on campus, he’ll walk/drive back to meet you; he just doesn’t like you going home alone. Even if your friend/roommate is in the class with you, Eren will walk or drive the both of you home for his own sanity.
He plays sports, so he usually has practice most evenings, but he’ll find a way to make time. If practice was particularly brutal, he’ll probably crash at your place.
He loves it when you come to meet him after practice. His whole face lights up and he waves obnoxiously, before he gathers up his stuff and all but sprints towards you. You get a cold water bottle to the face, or a bit of water splashed on you usually, which he takes immense amusement in.
He knows it’s not possible for you to make it to all of his games, and usually it doesn’t bother him much; you’ve got your own life, and work to worry about. All he asks is that you wear his jersey, or any item of his sports apparel/merch on game day (he’s partial to hoodies).
By the time junior year rolls around, he’s not all that interested in attending parties that aren’t hosted by your friends; so, unless it’s at Connie, Jean, or Reiner and Bertholdt’s place, Eren will usually decline. Even team parties, he’s not crazy about unless it’s to celebrate a championship or something. He’d much rather celebrate with you.
He does get excited about hosting parties though, and he and Jean become pretty damn good co-hosts. They don’t throw ragers, and that’s probably why Eren likes it so much. It’s usually your friend group and a couple plus ones, some good music, games, weed, and take-out.
He’ll buy you coffee whenever you ask for it. The first time, he just orders something plain, not really knowing the difference between anything; but give it two or three tries, and he’ll get it perfect. He becomes so good that he can order you something new/different and you’ll love it.
That’s kind of the start of his own coffee addiction, and more often than not, when he buys you a cup, he’s on his second or third of the day himself. The flavor has really grown on him, okay.
He much prefers your apartment, but on occasion, he’ll ask you to come to his. You’ve been studying for so long, a change of environment should do you good, he claims. He’s a fucking liar tho because that’s all Eren Talk for “I do genuinely want you to come over, but my plans are to coerce you out of doing your assignments and doing me instead.”
Lmfao he adds you on Apple Watch Rings just so you can see him close his rings every day and laugh at you. Even if yours get closed by virtue of walking around campus or working out or whatever, his numbers are stupidly high because he fucking has practice at least 4 days of the week.
Of course when you’re running on a soccer field for 2 hours every day, you close your Move Ring five times, Eren. Leave the rest of us alone.
He buys you guys matching accessories for your keychains. It’s something pretty cute, and slightly random, but it reminded him of you. It also serves as a reminder to himself to take his fucking keys with him when he leaves his house.
He sleeps like a fucking rock, so do not let him fall asleep in the library. Waking him up is a mission, and he’s never happy to be woken up. He looks kinda cute tho.
He schedules dates for you and his friends. Usually by accident, but hear me out. Sometimes he’ll make plans with Armin, then forget that he has class or a test or something; so his solution is to text you, “hey, i forgot min and i were supposed to go some aquarium tomorrow but i have a midterm so here’s the pdf of my ticket, go with him for me, thanks babe love u” then, boop, you and Armin have an aquarium date Friday evening.
The same thing happens with Mikasa, though, she usually catches the scheduling conflict before Eren does, and invites you out herself. You and Mikasa hang out quite a bit anyway, so it comes to the point where she tells you when she’s gonna hang out with Eren, so you can make yourself free for when he inevitably remember he has a game that day.
Mikasa is most amazed that you’ve put up with Eren this long lmao. You’ve certainly lessened her Eren & Armin babysitting hours, and for that she’s eternally grateful. Also, she’s just happy to have another close friend. She loves Eren and Armin, but they’re not the most social beings, and she was literally their only friend besides the other for all their childhood PLEASE she’s so happy you’re around.
It’s Mikasa, however, who babysits you and Eren whenever you both get too drunk. Says you guys are two peas in a pod (affectionate<2)
If you tell Eren something important that happened, like an internship you got, or a good grade in a class, or something, he usually relays that information to his mom pls. He texts her every day, and if she doesn’t ask for an update on you first, he gives her one.
Carla calls you sometimes, too. At least once every few weeks, just to check on you herself. She really likes you for Eren, and is grateful someone is willing to put up with her hotheaded son.
Eren’s always using your fucking chapstick. Always. You know he has his own, so why he needs to use yours is beyond you. Finds time to make some dumbass comment about how it’s an “indirect kiss” every time he uses it too. Like bro, we’re dating, and have had many direct kisses why are you like this.
He posts on Instagram every few weeks or so, but you’re on his story every few days. Usually, it’s just a video of you minding your business and doing your work while Eren slowly zooms in before making some loud noise to surprise you, all so he can get your reaction on video and laugh at it. He’s annoying.
He’s a bit of a copycat when it comes to the products you use. He’ll buy the same brand of pens as you (for that matter, all of his school supplies mirror yours because what does he know about the difference between A4 and A5 notebooks?), put a little hand sanitizer on his backpack like yours (and a lotion, too, for good measure), he even copies your Starbucks order until he finds one he likes for himself. It’s one of his love languages <3
If you’re wondering where your eyelash curler went, Eren stole it to try it on himself, hurt himself, vowed to never use it again, went back because he wanted to “do it right and not give up,” liked the results when he didn’t pinch his eyelid, and now it’s his.
That being said, stop trying to put your Fenty lipgloss on him, it’s never going to happen. Eye makeup, maybe, only if you sit in his lap and he can have his hands on your ass while you do it.
What he does love is letting you do his skincare. He will set aside dedicated skincare nights, he adores it. Easily one of his favorite things ever.
You have his wallet. Not because he’s your sugar daddy or anything (although, if you want something, he’d definitely let you use his card to get it; and even if you bought something without asking, he wouldn’t think twice about it), but because he put it in your bag once and never took it out.
When you tried to give it back, he just shook his head and told you to keep it, “I have my ID in my phone case anyway, and you’re less likely to lose it. Plus I put all my cards on Apple Pay, so I’m good.”
When you do make it to a game of his, he’s all over you when it’s over. Not in a cocky athlete boyfriend kind of way; in a very sleepy boyfriend kind of way. He’s usually got ice on at least one part of his body, and he’s got half his body weight on you as you walk to the car.
By the time you guys get back to your place, he’s practically sleep walking. The only thing on his mind is taking a hot shower to soothe his muscles, and heading to bed. The aftermath of game days aren’t all that bad though, because even if you didn’t show, you’re always there to kiss him when he’s home and massage his shoulders, and cuddle him to sleep; and that’s his favorite part.

ARCANE OC IDEA: Helena from Noxus (update)
General Information:
She is an escape-y who fled Noxus to escape her notoriously sadistic and high ranking parents by faking her own death and escaping to Zaun. She knew Mel when she was growing up, but Mel was terrified of her, on the count of her parents turning Helena into a killing machine from a very early age. (The bottom picture is Mel’s point of view and how she remembers Helena). The scar was given to her by her mother, after failing to execute someone who fled the household when she was 13.
Now Helena is older and trying to live a comfortable life, stealing and looting whatever she finds. This is how she meets Jinx, whom she rescues after getting knocked out (picture two is how Jinx sees her before she passes out) . She is immediately drawn to her, as she reminds her of both Silco and Young Vi. Helena has Silco’s cunning manipulative edge and dotes on her like a parent, but Vi’s warmth and caring hand with Jinx. Both spend their days tinkering bombs, pulling pranks, and laughing. Its thanks to Helena that Jinx manages to find ways to manipulate and control force of impact from her bombs. On top of that Helena is the person she comes to crying about Vi, Silco, and the explosion that killed her family. She helps Jinx work through a lot of trauma, even joking about “cutting those guys some slack every once in a while” (in reference to Ekko, Vi and even Caitlynn)
Despite appearing “sane” especially in contrast to Jinx, Helena is actually troubled by things such as paranoia, nightmares, insomnia and severe panic attacks, as a result of her earlier years and the abuse she endured. They are most commonly set of by witnessing (large pools of blood, screaming kids etc.) (picture no.4)
Once Mel finds out that Helena is actually alive, word of this gets back to her mother, who makes it a personal mission, to capture Helena and bring her back to her parents, “by any means necesseary” in hopes of securing political support from her parents. While Helena evades capture, her and Mel actually become something sort of frenemies, getting along while bickering, and even saving each others asses numerous times. During their adventures, Ekko, Vi and Caitlynn have to work with them a couple of times, to achieve a similiar goal. (picture no.6)
…More to be added…
Love interests?
The Designated doctor who worked for her family had a son, Ernest, who was around her age. He and his father would be witness to the many MANY violent punishments her parents would dish out to Helena. When she “died”, both him and his father were devestated (even creating a special memorial statue for her). A few years later, Ernest is in Zaun working as a doctor and engineer in the undercity, when he catches Helena trying to rob his clinic for medical supplies. He is overcome with joy when he realises who his robber actually is. Helena appears happy as well to see him, but when they go out to “catch up” she tries to kill him, thinking that he is still working for her parents, and thats why he is in Zaun. Instead she takes him as “prisoner” but when she realises that he is actually not a spy, she offers him to stay with her and Jinx, under the guise of helping out with their missions. He obviously still has a crush on her, but for most of the story she does n’t see him in that way, until the very end.
How does her story end?
After a series of adventures, Helena does manage to defeat her crazy family, but their downfall causes mass problems back in Noxus. With this, both of her and Mel are tasked to go back, in hopes of fixing things and restoring peace, which is a task that would take several years. She does offer Jinx to go with her, however Jinx (still attached to Vi despite no longer being on best of terms) declines. This leads to a very tearful goodbye, as Helena goes on the ship to take her to Noxus. Before leaving she tells Jinx. “Contrary to what your name may imply, your presence in my life has brought me nothing but greatness and fortune, and I want you to know that.” This departure would be the first time Jinx has a proper goodbye with someone. (picture no.5)
Age: Older than Caitlynn but younger than Mel
Height: 6ft2
Characteristics: Cunning, Playful, Warm and protective of those she cares about, Skilled, Analytical and Observative, Manipulative, Foul Tempered, Prone to Mood Swings, Can become Sadistic when enraged passed a certain point.
Weapon: A giant axe that has the ability to extend the handle pole. This was her weapon from when she was even a still a kid being conditioned to become a killing machine by her family (thus getting the nickname “HeLLena the Executioner” for her most common method of execution, decapitation). She is also an exeptionally talented and agile fighter.
Sexuality: Asexual but romantic
Pronouns: She/her or they/them
Fun Facts:
-Helena’s family was inspired by the history of the Bathory Family (whose most famous member is the serial killer Elizabeth Bathory). This is in reference not only to their sadism, but also their status. So wealthy and influential that they are LITERALLY above the law. This is why Mel’s mother was so keen on bringing Helena back to them.
-The name Helena was in reference to “the face that launched a thousand ships”. Mel’s mother goes to great lenghts to try and find her, and it plays a huge part of the story.
-Her appearance was strategical. Earlier, it was mentioned that the reason Jinx gets attached so quickly is due to her reminding her of both Silco and Young Vi. This is seen in her big bold eyes and brows (Vi) contrary to the greasy brown hair and the scar on the face which is on the same side as Silco’s.

A.N.: Despite being simple if compared to the previous ones, I found this chapter hard to write (Idk why), but I tried to make the girls' introduction as good as possible. When I had the idea of giving reader two female friends, my first thought was that they should be Nanako and Mimiko, however I needed her friends to be adult just like her, and that was when I decided to create new characters. To me, they remind me of Uzui's wives from Kimetsu no Yaiba and to a certain point I wrote them having these girls in mind, but you can imagine them whatever the way you like.
Hope you enjoy this chapter and thank you for reading this story despite the slow updates 🥺
Tumblr media
Though your immediate response to your master’s proposal indicated a favorable disposition, you asked him for one day to think of it, after which you would come to him with a definitive, well based answer.
- It is true that saying yes to you right now wold bring me immeasurable joy, my Lord – you justified your request – But at the same time I cannot ignore what doing it would mean. As far as I know, I was never married before. Everything wold be new to me, and also a great responsibility. It cannot be taken lightly, no matter how much love is involved.
At first, Geto looked at you a bit perplexed, but this feeling was soon replaced with that sort of pride he used to display whenever he wanted to his approval. With a delicate gesture of his hands, he surrounded your face and gave you a long kiss on your forehead.
- My y/n-chan, so calm, balanced in your deliberations – he complimented – Sometimes I wish I was as mature as you.
You laughed, and he gave you more kisses on your temples and cheeks.
- Do not mock me like this, sweetie – he asked between one kiss and another – I am serious. And because of this, I am going to concede you this day you ask for.
You murmured a sweet “thank you, my Lord”, but weren’t dismissed yet. Your master had a word or two for you, and by the solemnity in his trait it was better to pay them all the possible attention.
- Speaking of seriousness, during this day, I’d also like you to consider something else – he moved one hand away from your face, but kept the other to trace his finger through your chin – Something that might affect our common life even more than one’s inexperience in these matters.
Your laughter was replaced by a preoccupied focus.
- What are you talking about, Geto-sama? What could be so serious?
- I am talking about the circumstances under which we will be living in the next months, during the rest of Autumn and Winter – he explained – It has direct connections to the fact that I proposed to you now, instead of leaving it to the future.
You were still confused.
- And what must we expect in the next months?
Instead of questioning if your masters at your old home haven’t told you anything about it, Geto started describing the expected events in the most direct manner:
- During this time of the year, people’s emotions are shaken due to the low temperatures and less exposition to natural light. As a result, a prolonged, melancholic mood dominates the residential and public spaces, favoring the birth of an impressive number of cursed spirits, from the lowest leveled to the most dangerous ones. It has been a problem for which we still do not have a definitive solution, unfortunately. But we do our best to treat it. Of course, the common people, who are not conscious of the process in which cursed energy is produced, are mostly oblivious to this, but this is the exact reason why they experience the effects of it in a way that we with knowledge would never do.
You thought of this for a moment. What you’ve heard and read about seasonal depression and related subjects was more worrying than you first supposed, then.
- In other words, they don’t know why they are in distress – you commented – And this makes things worse for them?
- You can put things this way – Geto agreed – And since our family is responsible for places where these issues are treated, many of the common people come to us, seeking for help – and putting his hands upon your shoulders – This is what I want you to understand, my dear: when these things start happening, everyone in our temples, specially this one where we live in, will be very busy. And you are included in this.
So, unlike in your old home, where you were concentrated in studying and training, here you would apply everything you’ve learned. You thought you were finally understanding where he intended to go with this conversation.
- Yes, that makes sense. But am I going to stay here all the time, or am I going to be sent outside the temple to work with you, my Lord?
- For now, I could say both, so that you have to be ready. But when Winter reaches its apex, our activities will be limited to our own house. This is another reason why I am bringing Nanae and Makoto to our house, you see: since you will be by my side for even longer periods, they must become able to take care of things while you are away. Their diligence and reliability must be equal to yours, and you must learn to trust them as sisters.
You smiled at that: listening to Geto-sama as he spoke about the girls always made your heart warm, even though you haven’t met them yet. The simple idea of having young, female company was enough to put you in a good mood; the perspective of having them with you in the next days was something to cheer up to.
And you told that to your master.
- You know, Geto-sama, I love to think that I’ll be making them my family – he still had his hand on your chin; you held it and brought to your cheek – Just as you made me yours…
- It is so good to see your happiness, my y/n-chan – was his response – I am eager to see it grow even more.
With one last, sweet kiss on your forehead, he let you go.
Now, you had many things to consider besides your own happiness, most of them directly connected to it to the point they could improved it or interfere in it. You didn’t know much about such role, but you were sure that being a wife – more than this, being Geto-sama’s wife – was a responsibility that only a few could successfully bear. You had reasons to be worried. Fortunately for you, you wouldn’t be alone for much longer in the house’s new routine, and your master promised to give you detailed instructions as those busy days approached.
***
The next great event after the proposal was, of course, the arrival of the new children, which kept each resident excited and occupied in their own functions: the preparations of new rooms, furniture, bed clothing, more ingredients for extra meals and all the practical side of things in order to give them the reception they deserved.
It wasn’t different with you, except that it was going to mark the end of a period with long work and almost no social activity and the beginning of what you could call a proper life with a family.
When Nanae and Makoto arrived at their new house, your master soon came to share the news with you. You were at the room next to yours, the one chosen to be occupied by them, organizing the last details: you asked to personally take care of everything concerning their necessities, a request that was easily accepted by Geto.
When he appeared at the door, his eyes passed over it and approved your work.
- You did an excellent job here, my dear – he commented – The girls will feel at will sooner than they expect, this I am sure.
- Thank you, my Lord – you replied after arranging some ornaments over a nightstand – It’s been a while since I dedicate myself this kind of work for an entire day. I’ve been missing it.
You never found out what he was going to say in response, for he remained quiet when a silhouette appeared and stood before by him, startling you both, and the cheerful face of a girl showed up beside the door, a healthy face surrounded by blond curls that would fall to the side as she kept her head inclined, with two vivid, green globes as eyes and some freckles over her nose, contrasting with her reddish, big lips, half opened, all of this followed by a pair of hands that held the wood frame as she observed the room’s interior in wonder.
These were her first words:
- All of this just for us?! Heavens, I’m so happy! – she suddenly turned to your master – You are always full of surprises, Geto-sama! Thank you so much…
Your first thought was that she was going to cry and hug him with all her strength. And indeed the girl’s disposition to do such thing was clear even to Geto, but she was interrupted right in time by a second person who pushed her away by her shoulders and bowed to him in an embarrassed apology. From your spot, you noticed the person was a girl with black hair, tied up by a hairpin not so different from the one you were always wearing even after gaining a new one in the proposal’s day.
- I am sorry for this inconvenience, my Lord – she was saying, ignoring the cries of protest from the first girl – It is true that we are both excited to finally be here, but there are better ways to show it, and my cousin knows that.
Geto giggled and told her to not think too much about it, then invited both girls to enter, making his way into the room right after them.
- Girls, let me introduce you to your new friend – he put a hand on each one’s shoulders – Y/n s/n, my fiancee, disciple and personal assistant. She has been with me for months now, and understands the house’s routine and rules as no other. She will guide you in your tasks, and you can trust her with everything you might need.
When the two girls looked at you for the first time, their eyes widened, excitement clear in each spot of their pretty faces.
- Y/n-chan, this is Makoto-san – Geto indicated the girl with dark hair; then, turning to the blond one – And this is Nanae-san.
The girls nodded and spoke at the same time:
- It is an honor to finally meet you, y/n-san!
You smiled at their manners, as excited as themselves.
- The honor is all mine, girls! – you nodded in response; then, indicating your surroundings – I was eager to meet you, so I did my best to prepare your room. I hope you can make yourselves comfortable here.
This time, their reactions were diverse: while Makoto showed her best manners replying that this would surely happen and that they would both do their best to keep things as organized as you made them now, Nanae went to the closest bed, on her right side, and threw herself upon it.
- Making ourselves comfortable? You don’t even need to ask, y/n-san!
Makoto, with her face as red as can be and her delicate, lilac eyes widened, was about to scold her cousin when she heard you laughing.
- Okay, Nanae-san, if you’re saying so!
You saw your master stepping back to the room’s entry, a satisfied smile on his lips. The girls turned to him when he spoke.
- I knew you were going to get along fast, my children! Seeing you together is indeed a wonderful scene – he crossed the door and waved from there – Now, if you excuse me, I need to take care of my own matters. I will see you later.
You three said goodbye to him with a nod.
The room’s door was then closed and you started an excited conversation that lasted for an entire hour, only interrupted by the boy who came to bring the girls’ things and another one who came to announce the next meal. You heard your new friends talking about the temples where they used to live before being brought to Geto’s house, the routine in them, their first encounter with him and their travel to their new home with a curiosity that would grow at each minute.
You soon found out their innate techniques were as interesting as you first supposed. Makoto was a master of shikigami in the form of insects and butterflies she would use to examine territories and find missing things, as well as to trace preys; they were also used to collect and share information. Nanae, on the other hand, used her cursed energy to move objects of any size, and sometimes to levitate herself, a very useful and unpredictable tool for direct combat. Both abilities were excellent, especially for assistants. It was just as you were told: their presence would be a comfort and a great help.
The girls, used to deal with older people since they came to live in their old temple (a situation not so different from your own), were clearly content for having the company of someone as young as themselves, able to talk to them on the same level of understanding and familiarity, even though you were introduced as their senpai. They were particularly interested in your story and how you became their master’s most trusted person.
You told them about how you were saved by a stranger on a stormy night, at one of his temples’ entry. You explained that, despite having known his name and respected it for a long time in your old home, your first encounter with him was by accident. After some talking, you found out that your savior and Geto-sama were the same person, and showed your gratitude in a proper way. Geto, in exchange for this, chose you to be his personal assistant, for the position was vacant since he sent his previous one away. You immediately accepted the invitation and moved to his house on the same day.
- And since we have been together for long periods everyday, it was only natural that love would find a place to grow – you giggled – I mean, I didn’t take too long to fall in love, but I wasn’t expecting that he would fall too, and so soon. The day he confessed to me was the happiest of my life, only being replaced by the one when he proposed to me.
Nanae commented that she has always been sure that her master had some romanticism in him, but hearing you tell a whole story where this trait played a main role was better than anything that she could suppose. Makoto, on the other hand, had a more practical view of the things.
- To me, it is not a surprise that your innate technique has caught his attention, y/n-san – she was saying as she took her clothes off a suitcase and organized them on the wardrobe’s drawers – Being able to alter or erase people’s memories is something unique, and Geto-sama appreciates things like this. Of course he would recognize your talents once he became familiar with them.
- Not only unique, but dangerous as well – you replied with hesitation.
Both girls stared at you in confusion.
- What do you mean, dangerous? – Makoto questioned.
- I found out, too late, that my technique works in myself – you revealed – It already caused me many problems, and I don’t want this list to get any longer. So now I take extra care to not use it by accident.
Nanae was sitting by your side on the bed, with her legs crossed upon it in the lotus position. She sighed at your last observations.
- That Geto-sama likes things that are unique and dangerous is just as unsurprising, if we’re being honest here – she shrugged – He’s an important person, so he needs to be surrounded by people who are able to do dangerous things to protect him.
You swallowed. You were going to take long a path until you got used to the girl’s honesty, you knew, but that was an interesting point, which you never realized until now, perhaps because you always supposed that your master was able to defend himself – his technique consisted in taking curses under his control, after all, and what could be more dangerous than this? But your own ability was more subtle, not fitting for direct conflicts. Well, sometimes the kind of protection one would need had nothing to do with fighting, right?
- Maybe you’re right, Nanae-san – you replied after a moment – Now that I think of this, his decision towards me make sense, especially with the coldest seasons approaching and our quantity of work about to increase.
Makoto seemed interested.
- Are you talking about the darkest seasons, y/n-san?
You confirmed and told them about the growth in the number of curses during that time of the year and how you were going to be occupied, according to what your master told you.
Nanae whistled by your side.
- Working on the treatment of common people who are cursed? Sounds stressful.
You looked at her waiting for an explanation, but it came from Makoto.
- The masters in our old temple used to deal with this too – she folded a dress that got messed inside the suitcase and put it on the drawer while she spoke – They always worked in teams that would alternate between working hours and rest. The apprentices could watch the process but they weren’t allowed to participate, and no one had permission to do overtime, no matter how many people in need would appear at our door.
- Because exorcising curses and dealing with the emotional charge resulting from them is a very tiring job, to say the least – Nanae continued, giving you the explanation you didn’t have the courage to ask for – It drains one’s energy like no other task. It’s usually a bit easier during Summer and Spring, but Autumn and Winter are… complicated.
You spent some seconds in silence, looking at nowhere, then folded your knees and passed your arms around them. Suddenly the conversation you had with Geto about the next months came back to you, this time leaving a strange sensation in your stomach.
- ...I see.
Your uneasiness didn’t go unnoticed by the girls. Nanae was no longer joking.
- What’s wrong, y/n-san?
You took a deep breath.
- Nothing. I was just thinking… – and before you started a monologue about your preoccupations, you shook the bad feelings and smiled at the girls – Since this is the first time I will have to deal with this, I was scared. But this fear diminished when I was informed of your arrival. I am so grateful for having you with me...
Nanae came closer to you and threw her arms around your shoulders; Makoto left her suitcase aside and came to hug you too.
- And we are grateful for coming – she replied.
- Very grateful – Nanae completed.
***
The evening came fast that time, or so you thought while you knelt before the wood table in the middle of the room, your hands occupied with the preparation of Geto’s favorite tea. It was always like this when you had too much work to do, and now that you had the addition of your new friends’ lovely company the process seemed even deeper: you saw the autumnal sun fading on the horizon and didn’t do half of the things you’ve planned. In the end you were tired, but content.
It was in this mood that you poured the hot water on the selected mixture of herbs, their relaxing smell spreading around and attracting your master to your side: he closed the porch’s door, leaving the reddish twilight and the paper charms swinging at the wind behind, then took quiet steps toward the table. He sat with you, his curious eyes catching each of your movements, the sound of his calm breath so close making your cheeks warm.
The first words heard in the room were his.
- My y/n-chan looks so happy that her feelings would reach me on the other side of the house – his hand approached to make a caress on your cheek – And that makes her even more beautiful.
There was a pair of cups near; you took the first one and poured the tea on it, then offered it to him. Geto took it in his hands with a murmured “thank you” and you turned to the table to serve yourself with the second cup.
- Everything is going well, my Lord – you observed the steam coming up from your cup and smiled – Nanae and Makoto are wonderful girls. They’re content in being here, and they’re so diligent that we organized all their things in this afternoon and already starting planning our tasks for the next days. Working with them is refreshing and relieving at the same time.
- Very good – he mumbled in approval.
For a moment, you just drank your tea in silence, your own breaths being the only sound between those walls, until he put his cup back on the table and invited you to get closer with a gesture of his hand. You obeyed and took the place between his crossed legs; he passed his arms around you while you laid your head on his shoulder, your half filled cup still warming your palms.
- You know, it is good to see you three keeping the atmosphere light in face of the things I’ve told you about – he commented, more to himself than to you – This will be more helpful than you can suppose.
- Yes, my Lord. I confessed my worries to them, and they shared this feeling with me – you looked up to him, not disguising the anxiety in your tone – But I have yet another thing to be worried about.
- And what is it? – he stared back at you.
- Us – you sighed – How the circumstances will affect us. I can’t help the fear, despite my trust in ourselves. If there’s one thing that can make me sad now, here it is.
Geto’s response was to give you a long, warm kiss on the top of your head, while his fingers entwined with your hair, massaging your scalp.
- If you cannot help it, just let it be, my dear – he whispered – Worry about what you have to worry, and feel what you have to feel. But know that when it ends, you can always come back and rest here, with me – and with a giggle – Whenever you get tired of flying, just say it, and I will grab your ankles for you.
You smiled, but said nothing to that. You didn’t need to. You just finished your tea and put the cup back on the table, alongside his.
- Speaking of us, I have some news for you – he spoke when you went back to his lap – Good ones, of course.
You turned to him with wide eyes.
- What news, Geto-sama?
Your reaction was clearly a diversion to him, who blinked at you before answering.
- Recently, I’ve been in contact with one of the masters from your old home, and he accepted the request I made, despite the little time he will have to prepare himself.
- Prepare himself? For what?
- To lead our wedding ceremony, my love – Geto replied with a laugh – We also have settled a date for it.
Your heart pounded inside your chest with such strength that you were sure he heard it too. An established date!
- Really? And when will it be?
- In three weeks – holding your chin, he gave you a quick, sweet kiss on your lips – Counting from today.

Why Holding On To Past Relationships Is The Worst Thing You Can Do For Yourself, Period
by Daniel Dowling via MindBodyGreen
Three years ago I was a 24-year-old failure-to-launch who lived on his mom’s couch and shared a bathroom with two teenage sisters. My friends had their own houses, degrees, and independence. And there I was, broke and depressed, totally reliant on my parents. It hadn't ever not been that way.
But in 2014 I made one small decision, which led to results I still sometimes can’t believe.
Today, I’m leading writers in a national campaign to rebrand my hometown, and I write for the best entrepreneurial and self-improvement sites in the world (mbg being my favorite; no lie). I make a great living coaching others to become the happiest and most successful versions of themselves. That’s a lot of change in just three years, from any perspective. And I can trace the transformation of my life back to one single thing: letting go of my exes—completely.
Breaking free from serial monogamy.
For most of my adult life I’d been a serial monogamist. I thought I just really loved love, but it turns out I was just really, really afraid of responsibility. So, for my personal dissatisfaction and unhappiness, self-improvement wasn’t the cure—it was a new girlfriend! And when that one didn’t work out, I'd find another. Yay for love!
Except it wasn’t love because I wasn’t becoming the best version of myself through these relationships. So after the last one ended ignominiously, I quit the love game—just not quite all the way.
I still kept in contact with my exes. And Jen—my former fiancee—was a particular crutch. We still visited each other even though we lived in different states. We kept in regular contact through texts and phone calls, especially during crises. I was still depending on her to make me happy.
Every time we talked, I renewed the connection to my former ways of thinking and behaving. It strengthened the conviction that, deep down, I could only be happy with Jen. She was my way out. If things got too tough, I could always come to her, and she could come to me. We even promised that if we weren’t married by 30, we’d get hitched. Talk about a safety net… (and, yes, also the plot of My Best Friend's Wedding).
Unfortunately, that safety net was keeping me from being the bold, successful, independent man I wanted to become. I just couldn’t seem to cut the cord on my own.
Flying without a net.
Then one day I was listening to an audio course from my favorite self-improvement mentor, Zig Ziglar. He was talking about how to right our wrongs and forgive ourselves. He advised writing apologies down and sending them to the appropriate people. But he had a special step for exes.
"When it comes to the forgiveness you want from your exes [Zig has a drawling Southern accent], I want you to follow all the steps I just gave you. But instead of sending off the letter, I want you to fold it up, light a fire, and burn the damn thing. Cuz there’s no point in renewing emotional connections with people who aren’t good for you. That’s why they're your exes! It’s time to move on from them and fully embrace your own life."
When one is slapped by truth, one’s jaw has a tendency of dropping, and the eyes have a tendency to glaze over, lost in a thousand-yard stare. That was the picture of my face. Might’ve even drooled a little.
I thought about Jen, and Em, and Katie. I thought about how important they’d been for me and how much security they’d brought me. And I knew I had to let them go for good. For good.
No more texts or calls. No more being Facebook friends. No email updates. No nothing.
I had anxiety about the decision, naturally—severing ties with my past and obliterating a huge comfort zone. But I had a future to step into. I had to do that on my own.
Dealing with the emptiness.
I missed my former girlfriends like crazy. But instead of feeling sorry for myself and longing for them, I prayed for them. I asked God for the same things I was asking for my own self-improvement journey—courage, faith, hope, positivity, inspiration, grace, and so on. I prayed for them to meet amazing and inspiring friends who could help them become their best selves. I prayed for my future wife. And I prayed that I would become the fully independent man capable of supporting her.
In all this praying, I completely changed my focus. Instead of relying on my girlfriends for faith and reassurance, I relied on God and my own ability to handle my problems. I took back the misplaced faith in my girlfriends and put it squarely in my own hands.
That’s when I finally launched.
Do you believe in life after love?
Just like Cher, I found my power only after letting go of my past relationships.
Without my exes as safety nets, it was just me. Nobody else was going to make me happy. So I did what I needed to do to make me successful—all the writing, studying, practicing, pitching, researching, and self-improvement. I actually become part of a community and made new friends. I fully embraced my own damn life.
Three months passed and I still missed my exes. But I was making money through my writing and making new connections.
Six months passed and I still missed my exes. But I’d started earning a full-time living through my writing. And I was growing more confident by the day, especially in my community.
A year passed and I still missed my exes. But I was fully independent through my passion. And I’d outgrown the anxiety and depression that had haunted me since I was a teenager—a by-product of my newfound faith in me.
It’s been three full years since I cut out my exes. I’m 100 percent over each one, but I’m human—I still miss them! Who wouldn’t? They were brilliant and beautiful women who were insanely fun to be with. I made thousands of joyful memories with each one.
Sometimes I’m reminded of them by hearing a certain song or watching a movie. But that’s just another opportunity for me to thank God for them and to pray for them. It’s another opportunity for me to be the independent and faithful man I know I can be for myself, for my wife, for my clients, and for my audience. It’s another opportunity to find security in myself and in a higher power. And through these opportunities, I’ve found the happiness and fulfillment I always wanted.
I advise all of my clients to go on a yearlong relationship fast, which most of them do. But the real growth comes when they fully let go of their exes and stop using them as crutches. It’s hard, hard, hard to do but absolutely essential if you want to grow.
Here are five tips to help you let go of your exes for good:
1. Start a self-improvement routine, complete with daily, weekly, and monthly goal setting.
Read this article as a primer.
2. Meet with someone weekly to discuss your personal growth and your journey.
This person will help keep you accountable to your goals and lifestyle choices. Can be a friend or an amazing coach.
3. Stay single for a year—totally single.
If you can’t be happy with you, you won’t be happy—truly happy—with anyone else. Love that you! Commit to being successfully single for a year. That means happy, connected in your community, fulfilled in your work, and in a state of continuous personal growth. (Your daily routines and long-term goals will be critical to this step.)
4. Surround yourself with positive, uplifting people.
Join a faith community where people strive to live out the values you identify with. This is where you’ll find the deep connections that you can grow with—and that will prevent you from leaning on your exes as crutches.
5. Pray or meditate often.
Use your emotions as mindfulness cues. When you miss someone, pray for them. When you’re lonely, pray for the courage, positivity, and fortitude to make good decisions. When you think you can’t go on—that happens to everyone—pray for what you need. This will help you grow faith in a higher power and yourself, which is an absolute must if you want to be happy alone.
And being happy alone? That’s an absolute must for loving someone unconditionally in a relationship that can last a lifetime.
