And how they say "Michael loved Ferrari and Ferrari loved him back". I hope Ferrari loves Charles the way it loved Michael, I hope they help him bring that same glory back to the team and back to Maranello.

Follow up question is, do you think there's ever been a driver who lives, breathes and bleeds Ferrari like Charles does? Because I genuinely don't think I've ever seen any other driver with quite that amount of devotion to a team (a cult)

I think there have been many drivers who feel this way. They are usually the ones who had the commitment to stay with the team even through the hard times because in their mind it was worth it. Ferrari can be a demanding mistress but she gives glory to those who are truly devoted to her.

I think Charles is unique in the sense that he's for sure the first one in a long time to truly be the most openly insane about Ferrari. Like concerningly insane, and of course that resonates with us Tifosi, because we too are insane. Ferrari do love Charles as much as they love him and they are doing everything to give him a championship worthy car.

However I do not think he is alone, Ferrari has a way of just getting to drivers in a way no other team does. If there is one thing I can be certain of is that Ferrari will have another driver who is as devoted to the team as Charles. It's just what the red car does to people.

Michael had his good times and his struggles at Ferrari but he is only ever saying one team has a place in his heart. That quote from Imola is especially emotional because 2000 was his first Ferrari championship(he didn't know it at the time) and to be there at Imola and just love the whole team and appreciate what that race means. I feel like that says a lot.

Given the man he was and the many struggles he had with that team people didn't outwardly see the love he had for that team the same way they do with someone like Charles. the importance of self-trust in shifting.

when i first got into shifting, i relied a lot on shifttok but also on ppl who had shifted - id practically worship them and treat them like they were my mentors but that put me in such a vulnerable state that i ended up getting hurt from it.

there was this experienced shifter who id talk to, and they even said theyd help me with spirituality advice and such so i listened to them but nothing they were saying resonated...at all. no matter the topic, no matter how "factual" they pushed it as ; it wasnt resonating and i couldnt relate to it but since they had shifted i assumed that i was the problem.

"if they shifted theyd know better than me, what would i know? i know nothing." — this was my mindset for a year and it stunted me...heavily. i felt like i was this stupid newbie to this and i had to do everything an experienced shifter would tell me but again - that ended up stabbing me in the back because that experienced shifter was a horrible person to me and it got to a point where my mental health plummetted. i thought to myself that it was all over for me, i let go of someone who (in my eyes) knew everything even if they were horrible to me.

id meditate daily, clearing my head out to try and figure out what i should do because i knew shifting was real but i kept feeling as if i couldnt shift...like i was the problem. it wasnt until i had a moment to myself where i realised that my only problem was that i didnt trust myself.

i went out of my way to believe everyone and anyone but not myself, i believed that others would know me better than i do when in reality - id know what makes me shift or not because i am me. i know what annoys me, what would help me relax, what would help me think and connect with my drs so much better than someone who couldve known me since i was born because i FEEL these things.

and after i had that realisation and understood my power and understood that i was never a problem, i kept shifting and manifesting like it was nothing. i kept getting things i wanted in my cr, i kept going to different realities - even when i didnt shift for whatever reason i was fine. i never got mad at myself, i never blamed myself, i simply just let it go and went on with my day. if i wanted to stay in my cr for something important that i wanted to experience, id script out my day mentally and it would follow that script. not because i followed something, or because i learnt something new but because i realised that the most knowledgeable things i could learn come from myself.

whether its my higher self, my inner self or just...myself in general - i know all sorts of things about how i function and that would affect how i shift. that level of knowledge wouldnt be found anywhere else, so why would i trust others to give me that knowledge?

"i know myself better than anyone, if i want to shift i will and if i want to manifest things i will. noone else can control or stop that because this is my life, not theirs. they only gain control when i let them have control." — this became my way of viewing things and i still stick to it ; noone can control or change or make me do things unless i let them.

if you dont trust yourself or believe in yourself, you'll never find the answers youre seeking. sure, other experienced shifters can give you advice but only you know what will work for you. never let someone control your journey and never let them be the ones to claim your growth.

the twelfth house

when Alice Sparkly Kat wrote about the twelfth house she said "The best way to work with the twelfth house is to follow ghosts". viewing the twelfth house through this lens resonates with me as someone with twelfth house emphasis and an interest in the paranormal.

when I think of the twelfth house I picture the black lodge from twin peaks. it seems ominous and scary at first but it ultimately is something happening behind the scenes, much like how I view ghosts. being haunted by a ghost, like the twelfth house, is scarier than it seems. ghosts are malleable; you can make ghosts go away by simply asking them to. in this sense, the planets in the twelfth house are the ghosts we are haunted by. twelfth house is where all things begin and end. it isn't life and death, that is the eighth house. once something has happened it is over and it cannot hurt us anymore, like a ghost.

I'm currently reading the twelfth house by Karen Hamaker-zondag where she analyzes the twelfth house through a jungian viewpoint. she writes about how babies spend at least one year in the unconscious world during infancy as their brain develops. we absorb the energies and emotions of our parent and the collective through our unconscious minds because our infant brain has no repression mechanism. in other words, our brain cannot protect itself during the first few years of life.we have no memory of what happened during this time but on some level, we know the truth.

the sun in the twelfth house can represent a missing father figure early in life -- the father may have been absent mentally emotionally or physically -- in worst cases the father dies or is separated from the child due to a divorce, in other cases he is disinterested or doesn't have the energy for the children. maybe he comes home from work late, too tired to offer the child any attention or affection, or he avoids responsibility of the child, filling his time doing odd jobs about the house, not contributing much to the household. in many cases the sun can show a very dominant mother figure to devalues and demeans the father.

the result is a deep longing to find oneself. you dont know who you are, what you like or who you want to be, or you are embarrassed of or ashamed of who you are and what you like especially if mercury is involved or there is a link to the fifth house (ex fifth house ruler in twelfth house).

moon in twelfth house indicates an emotionally or physically absent mother figure. she could have spent some time in the hospital for a significant time after childbirth, or suffered postpartum depression preventing her from offering the child warmth and closeness it craves. other times the mother has a difficult relationship with her own mother, or struggles to accept her role as a mother.

in this case the child is hyperaware of others emotions so much that it surpasses its own. you could feel out of touch with your own feelings or not feel anything entirely. sometimes you feel everything and nothing all at once. the emotions of your mother/mother figure are subconsciously tied in with your own so much that you are unable to separate them. you long for the sense of security you have been missing all of your life.

one is not required to fend off the ghosts of their past. in the case of Neptune in the twelfth house the individual is highly attached to their ghosts and learns to live with them. Neptune in the twelfth house, on the ascendent or a connection between Neptune and the twelfth house can show a person who is more likely to suffer from paranoia, phobias and obsessive -- many find it necessary to stay connected to the spiritual realm through spirituality, religion, hellenistic/alternative medicines, yoga, dream work etc.

And only then through that strength and consistency you will see yourself starting to level up. You will see these dreams that you’ve had that you keep to yourself or that you suddenly daydream about before you go to sleep can come true but you have to leave all this deadweight behind. Being on the sidelines is never going to work in your favor. It never has in the past but especially now. You’ve moved past that. Time to consider long-term goals and stability. Maybe getting that praise from people that undervalued you was enough of a self-esteem boost at the time but not anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised that once you talk to focus on yourself you’re gonna start getting a lot of “I miss you” texts. This could be old friends or maybe someone you had a crush on and you never really were sure how they felt. Putting yourself first isn’t selfish. The person that betrayed you could’ve been from childhood or someone that you’ve been close with since you were a teenager. if you were feeling nostalgic or you already trusted them, maybe that’s why you were letting your guard down. I know it hurts and this may not offer any comfort but this is telling me two things. The first thing is that the world is a much bigger place in this tiny box you’ve been living in. Believe it or not all that grief and disappointment and frustration can be transformed into something else. I’m not trying to be corny or say that it’s suddenly going to go away but you need to get out of your comfort zone. You’re not trusting your judgment and now I need to get more in tune with your body so that when you have a gut feeling about some thing you don’t end up in a weird ass situation anymore. And the best part about that is that once you trust your gut and you’re in tune with your body not everything is going to feel like a threat. SO THEN when there is an actual threat you’ll be able to save yourself and avoid any bs. Whoever that did you dirty is going to get their karma. i’m not saying they’re gonna break every bone in their body but once you’re gone they’re going to notice that they had some thing special. then it won’t be you stuck thinking about the worst or the “what ifs” anymore. after this you’re going to feel more powerful and beautiful and you might be a little bit colder but it’s just that not everyone is going to have a chance to experience you. They’re going to have to earn that.

Hello friends! I recognize this is a break from my current content series, however I have been working like a dog recently balancing university, work, social life, and medical problems so I felt inspired to talk a bit about the magic I do while working!!

To preface: I work 3 jobs total! one of them requires me to travel, One is a remote desk job, and the final one is a waitress! While I don't recommend this lifestyle, it is the one that I and many others have fallen into as life has unfolded. First of all, to all my hard working witches, you freaking matter dude. Your boss may not see how hard you work, but trust me you guys are hustlers! Its hard to balance a spiritual life with everything else going on but today lets tackle that!

First, we have to find where the magic is within us and this is easier said than done. In previous post I talk about magical frameworks and theories and this would be a good time to put this to use! I believe that magic is all around and within us, we can harness it at any time, enjoy it! Even simply reflecting on the magic in your heart can be enough to feel spiritually fufilled. We as humans like acknowledgement, and when we just simply reflect on the magic around us then we tend to feel more fufilled but that gets lost on us sometimes.

Lets think about jobs for a second! We have all sorts of jobs out there, desk jobs, standing jobs, hard labor, etc. I believe there is magic for every profession, type, etc, but that is a looot of jobs. so lets narrow it down to the three types I have experience with!

Travel + Speaking

these jobs include teaching, public speaking, management, and more. These jobs often are a form of public service but require an element of writing, desk work, etc. It also is somewhat a form of authority in the aspects of people looking up to you for information, conflict resolution, and more. Usually this job has a commute, a level of strong responsibility, and traits like leadership and confidence are seen heavily.

Witchy ideas:

As you wake up, get ready, and commute, give yourself a pep talk as a form of glamour magic. Bonus points if you make it a chant

Enchant your toothpaste to help your words carry

Keep crystals like angelite, Rose Quarts, and Pyrite close

Create a weekly spread to give you insight into the week so you can prepare as needed

Wear bright colors for confidence

Wash your hair with the intention of unblocking flow of words, and making things run smoother

Public Service

Public service are jobs like waiter, bank clerk, and floor salesman. These jobs require you to be informational, polite, and taking on a lot of side work in the process. Your job is to get someone to purchase something and help facilitate that, resolve minor conflicts, and honestly team work with both your coworkers and customers.

Witchy Ideas:

When you can: Don't wear socks with your shoes. A lot of dress shoes and work shoes can have hygienic insoles, and this can help facilitate grounding!

Create an oil out of a carrier oil, basil, thyme, and rosemary and you get a general 'workplace luck' oil!

If you work for commissions: Eat a mint, tic-tac, or sugar packet before work to sweeten your words to customers and get more sales

If you don't work for commissions: Place Vaseline or lotion on your elbows and knees to facilitate swift work and smooth customer interactions

Carry obsidian, super seven, bismuth, or chrysocolla with you

Keep a 'talisman card' in your pocket, pick a tarot card that resonates with your goal for work. My go-to's are the queen of swords, king of cups, the emperor, and the magician

Remote Work

Remote jobs are any jobs that can be done at home, and after the pandemic these jobs became a staple so many companies kept the position. These jobs could be done day or night, internationally or locally, and so much more. The best traits to have would be organization, punctuality, and perseverance.

Witchy Ideas:

Maintain a home altar where you do work to induce specific energies

Before a virtual meeting discussing important personal goals, set up an online vision board of what you want

Have a prayer or chant ready during a project to help it move along

Create digital sigils to deflect crappy co-workers

Use Tigers eye, ulexite, and yellow calcite to help the work day

Leave a tarot card on your desk as a talisman.

My top 7 Faerie stories/worlds atm 🦋

**Note, I am super dupes aware that I haven't read/watched everything, so please feel free to reblog/comment with recommendations!**

Faerie is the pulse of my heart, and my mind/spirit/etc. spends a LOT of time thinking about it, SO here's the most resonant of depictions of the realm/faeries themselves in my current opinion (and why).

I feel very much that Holly Black gets the lushness and richness of Faerie, plus the trickery of it, and that level of dangerous beauty - what attracts humanity to it, etc. How everything is in extremes, too, but also how parts of it echo the human experience - both in terms of courts, but also in terms of the heart, and the emotional impact of intense circumstances and intense feelings.

I am, admittedly, not all caught up yet since I haven't read her earlier works, but of course I recommend starting with "The Cruel Prince" and reading forward from there (the more recent "Stolen Heir Duology" having an extra special place in my esteem)!

(Also special shoutout to the fact that there are Nisse - Gnomes! - in the recent books, AND that her take on Redcaps is absolutely Orcish 💚)

(Also also, cw: Changelings. They can be a triggering/upsetting subject, considering how our concept of them as humans seems to have come about. She does make pretty heavy use of them, but not in the ways that one might expect, and always from a very emotionally-centered space - not a humans-abusing-potential-fae space.)

So, Tolkien - yes, I am including the world of his works in this because even though he considered them religious and specifically-denominational, he took SO MUCH inspiration from folklore and faerie tales (do not even get me started on what got edited out of "The Silmarillion" istg) that Arda is not wholly Christian, from my Faerie-worshiping queer-ass faerie perspective thankyouverymuch. Not to mention what is being done in fandom with the faerie-races, especially the Dwarves and the Hobbits, AND what recent adaptations are opening up with the Orcs!! Obviously, his take on Faerie is a much more literally-grounded reality - they exist in the Earth-based world (as if Faerie has bled into what we expect Earth to be), they have magic (at least the Elves and Dwarves do) but it's both somehow super ethereal and super physical at once. And divinely connected, since the biggest magic in Middle-earth (or any part of Arda) comes from the lesser Gods - the Valar, and the Maiar who serve under them as well as from Big Sky Daddy Eru, but we're not talking about him right now. So that, to me, really speaks to the spiritual nature of Faerie too - which is always always always personally interesting to me, and Jrrt's take on the fae was absolutely foundational in my budding concept of them, before I even really thought about who they are in a conscious way.

I don't know where to recommend starting, since I got into the world through the Jackson films, first, and I wouldn't change my experience for anything because it's given me SO much. But in fandom, shoutout to the works of @conkers-thecosy (read her fics here!) as well as "A Long List of Happy Endings" by vicious_summer and "The Mushroom Mine" series by @chrononautintraining for Dwarf Stuff - and "Splint" by HelenaMarkos for Orc Stuff. Plus, as much as I know it's divisive, "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is - again - doing wonders about the Orcs AND doing very well by the Dwarves too, in my opinion, showing them as a fully realized and thriving people (though Dwarf women should still have beards, Amazon!! And there seems to be some confusion around how the name of Durin functions...)!! Available to stream on Prime, here.

"Suitor Armor" takes place in a world that appears very similar to medieval Earth, and as such the worldbuilding itself doesn't feel very specifically Faerie - yet. However, with the main character having significant ties to the fae, and with the story still having space to explore their culture once the tale takes the characters there, I have faith that we are gonna see more of this take on Faerie specifically soon. In the meantime, what we have seen so far - how faerie magic works, how they relate to each other, etc. - rings true for me, and is lovely to behold, especially in the face of the tragedy around their circumstances in the Big Plot.

As for Studio Ghibli - Miyazaki's take on the spirits of Japanese folklore - which are absolutely Faerie - was SO formative for me growing up. I don't have anything else to say about that except that he's right!!

I recommend "Princess Mononoke," "Spirited Away" and "My Neighbor Totoro," particularly. All available to stream on Max right now (but buying physical media is better, and they're very likely available to rent other places, too).

Brian and Wendy Froud's work has, of course, also been absolutely formative for me - especially when I started getting into Faerie properly. Their work doesn't require much commentary either - they're just correct 💗 Nothing I've experienced has ever contradicted what I've read in their books, and I feel like their work really, really gets the energy of the fae and the liminality of their existence. And that there is kindness, and light, as well as danger.

I recommend "Trolls" and "Faeries' Tales," to start with, and of course the quintessential "Faeries" by Brian Froud and Alan Lee, which started it all.

(Also, considering what's below, special honorary shoutout to their work on "The Dark Crystal." Definite overlap there and absolutely counts.)

Obviously there's some crossover with The Muppets here, considering they come from the same studio, BUT if we're looking at just "Fraggle Rock" on its own - absolutely. Though a very different take than those mentioned above, if you're looking for the whimsy and delight at the heart of the fae, the Fraggles have it.

Both the original series and the reboot are currently available to stream on AppleTV.

Okay, and my own! What I'm doing with the world of "Tock the Gnome" is a little bit different - again, we're looking at a realm that isn't free from some of the physical bounds we find on Earth - but in its vast history there is Faerie at its purest, and the characters are on a Big Quest that will be instrumental in restoring the realm to what one would expect of Faerieland (all wrapped up in a body-positive, sapphic-presenting queer romance, btw). My focus is on Gnomes and Orcs, in particular, since the fact that they're also fae is a big part of my message. Recognizing that, as well as recognizing the importance of connectedness between people and the balance of that and personal sovereignty, and how damage to those things might impact the whole of a magical realm.

Judaism in Moon Knight (or, How Steven Is Marc’s Emotional and Spiritual Protector)

Sooo I've been thinking a lot about Marc Spector's relationship to Judaism in the Disney+ show. This week in particular (in light of Jeremy Slater’s recent comments), I’ve been thinking about the ways that Marc has put walls between himself and his Jewishness. This is a trauma response, of course. And those of us who experience trauma have walls for a reason. As a Jewish person, I have high trauma walls in relation to my Jewishness, which is why Marc’s arc in Moon Knight resonates with me so strongly.

Marc has been disenfranchised from his Jewishness in three key ways. These are actually the pillars of Jewish identity: Believing, Behaving, and Belonging. I’ll bring more clarity to this later on.

The one thread that ties both Marc and Steven to their Judaism is the Magen David necklace that they share. And indeed, we can chart the course of Marc’s relationship to his Jewishness by following the appearances of the necklace.

When we meet Marc, he has distanced himself from most sources of connection in his life, and he states repeatedly that he wishes he could disappear. He tells Steven, “Look, when I am done, when I have repaid my debt, I swear to you, you will never see me or hear from me again.”

Jeremy Slater has spoken about how he wrote Marc as Steven's protector, but I want to challenge that as well. And that’s certainly not how Oscar was playing him.

You see, I keep coming back to a moment in Episode 2. It’s the scene where Steven stands up to Harrow and his cult.

I think this is the moment where we first witness Steven as Marc’s emotional protector, which becomes more and more evident throughout the course of the series, until Episodes 5 and 6, where Oscar makes this alter dynamic clear.

However, I believe that this scene is where we see Steven become Marc’s spiritual protector, as well. Because Steven appears to have the closest connection to their Judaism.

At the end of Episode 1, Marc presents himself to Steven (and to us) as a protector of the system. “You’re not going to die. Let me save us.”

But as we learn throughout the course of the series, Marc is really more of a trauma holder. Yes, he has military training (as well as a healing factor and a nearly indestructible suit from Khonshu), but that doesn’t necessarily equate to him having a protector role within the system.

By the end of Episode 4, we start to see the actual dynamic emerge between Marc and Steven, where Steven is Marc’s protector. Jake is a protector as well — both physical and emotional. He defends the system when Marc and Steven are in physical danger, and he also fronts when Marc is at emotional risk or in danger of self-destructing.

In Episode 2, we learn from Layla that she and Marc have been searching for Ammit’s ushabti for several years. Marc knows that what Harrow is doing is potentially world-ending. If Ammit is released, she will consume much of the earth’s population. It’s Thanos 2.0.

But Steven sees beyond the Avengers-level threat that Ammit poses. He senses the deeper nature of her existential and spiritual threat.

Ammit represents a doctrine of deterministic prejudgment. According to her philosophy, everything good or evil can be known about us from the moment that we are born. And if the bad outweighs the good, Ammit holds that we should be destroyed. She believes that we have no ability to grow or improve. We are stuck on a fixed path with no possibility for change.

This runs contrary to the concept of free will, in which we all have the capacity for change and growth. Even if we do something wrong, we can make amends. We can choose differently next time. Our lives are not represented as a fixed line; rather, they are a series of branching decisions. And we can always choose to do the next right thing.

In the final battle between Khonshu and Ammit in Episode 6, Ammit asks, “Why fight, knowing you will fail?” To which Khonshu replies, “Because it is my choice! The very thing you take away.”

Free will is a primary concept in Judaism. There is no afterlife (at least, not in terms of heaven and hell), and so LIFE is for living. We can always change. We can choose differently next time. There is room to learn from our mistakes.

But Marc has already bought into Ammit’s philosophy. His mother taught him that. Wendy was the human embodiment of Ammit’s form of prejudgment. It is absolute, inflexible, and with no possibility for change. If you are good, you are good; and if you are bad, there is no hope for you. After Randall’s death, Wendy says to Marc, “I should have known you’d do something like this.” She places all the blame for Randall’s drowning on Marc’s shoulders, even though he was just a child.

And so, Marc believes that he is bad, and that nothing can change that. He sees no possibility for his own redemption. He fights against Ammit and Harrow to protect the world, but on some level, he believes that for him, she might be right.

It is up to Steven, the emotional and spiritual protector of the system, to challenge Ammit’s philosophy. And why Steven? I believe it is because Steven has a greater connection to their shared Jewishness.

In the “lentil soup” scene at the cult compound in Episode 2, Steven converses with Harrow to figure out more about what is going on. It’s clear to him that Harrow has information about the experiences he’s been having with Khonshu. But as he and Harrow talk, he begins to understand the true implications of Ammit’s philosophy.

There is a specific moment in the scene. A specific point where Steven shifts. Up until this point, he has been terrified. He’s terrified of what is happening to him, he’s scared of Marc, he is positively quaking at being trapped by this cult.

So what changes? Steven looks in the reflective surface of the soup bowl, and he sees Marc retreating to get away from Harrow’s words.

Harrow tells Marc (through Steven) that Khonshu is weak and ineffective. That his punishments come too late. However, this is the nature of free will. We are given the choice to do good or bad. The punishment cannot come before the crime. As painful as it may be, we must allow people to make mistakes. And we must allow them to grow and change and redeem themselves when they fail.

Then Harrow reminds Marc that he will never be free of Khonshu, because there is always one last thing. One last mission. One last evildoer for Marc Spector to punish, when the problem could be solved so efficiently and with so much less mess if Ammit were just allowed to rule.

Marc starts to withdraw at these words, and Steven watches him. Then Steven has a moment of choice. He chooses to defend Marc. Even though he still believes that Marc (and therefore the body) may be dangerous, he knows that Harrow has no right to judge Marc or anyone else for what they might do in the future.

Steven says, “If Ammit judges people pre-evil, like, before the fact, then, isn't she judging an innocent person? I mean, a thought can't be evil, can it?”

Then, instead of placating Harrow or trying to find the nearest exit, Steven looks at the cult in disgust and says, “You're all into that? Killing children? Maybe it's just me, but I draw a line at child murder.” He doesn’t run, even when Harrow starts to threaten him with Ammit’s staff. He has seen how uncomfortable Marc is at Harrow’s deterministic zealotry, and he knows that he has to take a stand.

But why is this important from the standpoint of Marc’s and Steven’s respective experience of their Jewishness? And why is Steven able to be Marc’s spiritual protector? Why can’t Marc do this himself?

The Moon Knight show gives an incredibly realistic depiction of how a person becomes disenfranchised from their own Jewishness. Being Jewish consists of three pillars: Believing, Behaving, and Belonging. If any one of these pillars is knocked down, the ceiling will start to collapse. But if all three are knocked down, the person's connection to their Jewishness can be destroyed, or at least deeply damaged.

In the show, we see that these three pillars of Marc's faith have been knocked down in an unfortunately common way: he has experienced abuse and rejection from his family, specifically his mother. This abuse has a spiritual nature, because in Jewish families who actively practice their faith, the mother is often the one to maintain the traditions of the Jewish home, which is what is necessary for a child to participate as a Jew in the community. Without that Jewish home life, it is easy for a child to be cut adrift, even if they go to Hebrew school and attend their Temple or Synagogue.

In the time and place that Marc was growing up (in the American Midwest of the 1990s and early 2000s) the fastest way for someone to be disenfranchised from their Jewishness was to sever their connections to Judaism in the home.

Steven is the one who maintains a connection to their Judaism. He is vegan, which is a common strategy that Jewish people use to keep kosher outside of the house. He also has a mezuzah on his door, which serves as an indicator of a Jewish home. He belongs to the Jewish community in London, and speaks with the cadence of a regional London Jewish accent (Oscar said that Steven’s accent was based on Jewish people he met in the Borough of Enfield). The pillars of Steven’s Jewishness haven’t been knocked down. He still Believes, Behaves, and Belongs, at least to some degree.

But it is the Magen David necklace that gives us the metaphorical throughline of Steven’s role as spiritual protector.

We first see the Magen David around Steven’s neck at the end of Episode 2. We can see it clearly as Steven “looks out” from the mirror. A beam of light hits the necklace, and it shines. It is right in the middle of Steven’s chest. At the center of his heart.

As the camera pans over to Marc, we see the necklace chain, but the Magen David is obscured by the direction of the light and the angle of Marc’s body. 

Both Marc and Steven wear it — it is actually the single item that they both consistently share — but we don’t see it VISIBLY on Marc until Episode 6.

In Episode 3, we catch a glimpse of the necklace when Marc is changing his shirt in Layla’s car. But we only see the chain. We don’t see the Magen David. It is cut off.

When Marc is shot at the end of Episode 4, both the necklace chain and the Magen David are obscured. We cannot see them at all, even though at other times throughout the show, we can see at least the chain of the necklace peaking out from Marc’s shirt.

BUT!!! After Marc has connected with Steven in the Duat, after he has gone through this part of his hero’s journey, after he has finally allowed Steven to come into his life, the Magen David finally appears on Marc’s chest. 

As you can see, it was NOT THERE before, when Marc fell into the water in Episode 4. Nothing physically has changed at the beginning of Episode 6. In fact, only minutes have passed in the upper world since Marc was shot. But because of Marc’s journey with Steven, he can finally begin to cross the chasm and reconnect with his Jewishness. The Magen David may not shine like it did on Steven’s chest, it may only glimmer, but it is a start.

I believe that it is through Steven that Marc is able to reconnect with his faith. At the end of Episode 6, Marc finally expresses his free will. He will not kill on Khonshu’s orders, even though it would mean ending Ammit as a threat. He has a choice, and he chooses LIFE. In Judaism, life is for living. In death, there can be no change. Without reconnecting to Steven, to his Jewishness, I don’t think Marc would have been able to make this choice. 

And of course, that does leave Jake, as Marc’s emotional and physical protector, to make sure that Ammit and Harrow never hurt the MK system again. Because I believe that of the three alters, Jake buys into Ammit’s philosophy the least. Jake knows that Ammit is a threat, and he knows that she has to be destroyed, but he never entertains that she might be right in the way that Marc does. Marc is still wrestling with Ammit’s ideology of prejudgment (as we would have likely seen at the end of the Diab cut), and Steven is still challenging it, but Jake just rejects it outright. “Hoy te toca perder.” And that’s why Jake has to be the one to kill Harrow and Ammit, because they still pose an existential danger to Marc and Steven. Jake protects Marc against self-destruction, and he knows that in a rematch against Ammit, Marc might be tempted once again in that direction. And since Khonshu knows that Jake does not entertain the notion that Ammit could be right, he uses the “legal loophole” he put in place in his bargain with Steven to enlist Jake to take Ammit out.

But none of this diminishes the fact that Marc has expressed his free will. Or that Steven, as his emotional and spiritual protector, has helped him reach a point in his life where he can see himself as more than a killer.

And I think it started in the moment when Steven first stood up to Harrow. When Steven asserted that people can always change and grow, because they can always make a different choice.

This is why I say that Moon Knight is a Jewish show. It deals extensively with Jewish themes. And it does so in a real way, even though it is set against a superhero backdrop. This Marc isn't cut off from his Judaism by a serial killer Nazi posing as a Rabbi. Nor is he disenfranchised because of an esoteric rejection of God and his father for being too weak. No, he is separated from his Jewishness in the most realistic and common of ways — because of family trauma. And his path back is through the connection and understanding that he now shares with Steven.

Pick-A-Card 12-12: A Message For You

Pile 1 (3 of Wands)

Cards: 10 of Wands, 9 of Cups

You know all too well that the path to your heart’s desires is not a walk in the park. Lately you may feel like you are problem solving more than usual. Hurdles in every turn, one after another. The responsibilities you have to deal with are no joke.

You may have been retreating in your head as a way to cope in the middle of your work. I feel that you visualise a lot about what it looks like when you finally achieve your goals. Daydreaming of being relieved from all the load you’ve been carrying in your arms. Of being able to just sit down and relax. Of being surrounded by the golden aura of the fruits of your labor.

The universe sees your dedication and good intentions. It’s admirable that you’re persistent in honouring your commitments. For those of you who have been building momentum– those who are planning, focusing, learning, doing the work and are getting ready for more of it– if you haven’t felt that your manifestations are coming true, know that there is movement, no matter how small or invisible it seems. Keep going. The 9 of Cups tells me that the wish fulfilment is imminent. It’s your destiny.

For those of you who are struggling to come to terms with the burdensome nature of the process, the universe urges you to keep an open mind. Some of you may have taken the instant gratification route in the past. However, the opportunities calling you now are miles ahead and not where you had chosen to remain. If you need to leave something behind, know that the potential out there is beyond what you imagine. 

It would help to make a plan that leans on making things easier for you in the long run. It can be like taking care of the difficult tasks first so that the rest of the tasks are easier. It can also be like making a system of your own. Setting up your desk in a way that everything you need is within reach and ready to use. Whatever works for you. You can pull it off, with a little conviction.

Pile 2 (Wheel of Fortune)

Cards: 2 of Pentacles, 2 of Wands, The Hierophant

You are in quite a preoccupied period of your life, Pile 2. You may be in line for or have already started to pursue an ambitious venture. Could be a business or a big partnership. There is a lot of balancing and weighing around: the resources, the risks, the pros and cons. With that amount of detail, you may have pulled up some spreadsheets to properly plan and execute everything that needs to be done. Such a busy bee!

Your work is paying off beautifully. I can even see that you’re on your way to a level of mastery of it. It could be related to something you’re studying; I’m getting research. You could be part of an academic environment, or a position wherein you impart your knowledge and experiences to a novice. Something feels traditional about your practice, in terms of the rules. There’s a system you’re doing your best to follow. Your values are quite intertwined with it. Maybe not everyone will consider it, but there’s also an element of your spirituality in this.

Listen, I feel like your efforts are going to bring something groundbreaking here.  It’s the product of all your hard work. If you’ve been expecting a certain result, you may get beyond what you’re expecting (in a good way). There’s an incredible surge of creativity and it may come in bursts, so seize the opportunity when that energy comes. If any recurring symbols or objects pop out to you, try to remember them; these signs may serve like a path toward this venture. It may get uncomfortable at times when you feel that some things are out of your control. Don’t worry, luck is strong on your side.

Pile 3 (7 of Wands)

Cards: 8 of Pentacles, Ace of Wands, 4 of Swords

You mind your business and like to be in your own space. You may even be laser-focused on whatever you’re working on right now. So single-minded and diligent. However, an energy or some energies seem to be trying to distract you. I would go as far as say that they’re disrupting your peace on purpose. It’s intentional, how they bring up conflict for you to stop doing what you’re doing and turn your attention to them.

They’re quite stubborn, honestly. They don’t have a problem sparking up an argument out of nowhere just for the sake of it. They won’t admit defeat, either. For a few of you, maybe, external energies aren’t the problem. You may have been tempted into distraction by yourself many times, or provoked to prove something that only sends you off-track. You may have made excuses for yourself.

You need to build up your resistance. Take it up a notch. I can tell you’ve already been persevering and– you may not like to hear this– but you need to persevere a bit more. It may help to pinpoint the root causing you to falter so you can stay ahead of the energies getting in your way. A lot of them would actually want to be in your place, but what’s yours is yours. I know you would rather keep to yourself and shut them away, but it can’t be helped, especially when they push you into a corner. Fight back with all your might, Pile 3.

Pile 4 (The World)

Cards: 9 of Swords, 8 of Pentacles, Knight of Pentacles

Your work ethic deserves recognition, Pile 4. The universe sees you nurturing your talents and accumulating experience of your craft. You’re quite dependable and unafraid to take on heavy work that others would have shied away from. You don’t let much stand in your way when you set your mind to it.

You seem to be exuding opposite energies when you’re working and when you’re resting, though. It’s like, when you’re about to sleep at night, probably alone in your room, you’re plagued by your personal anxieties. Intrusive thoughts about your deep fears may just spring from the darkness while you’re idle. When you’re out and about in the day, however, these thoughts take the backseat because you fill your hours with routine and all the tasks that can take up your time. You get busy. 

These troubles may be an underlying motivation for you, i.e. you do your best to work hard to overcome the things that weigh you down. For most, though, I feel like always having your schedule packed becomes a guise for you not to address these issues properly. Yes, they come uninvited when you’re vulnerable, but you can start to actually tackle them with the energy of your waking life instead of sweeping them under the rug.

This is a different process for each of you, but I see the wonderful card of The World as one bright conclusion: you will be reconciling these parts of yourself. Wholeness. I can feel you will find this quite enlightening, by the way.

It’s okay to take the time to reflect and lower your defenses around yourself when you’re in your own safe space; just make sure you can prevent them from spiraling and ground yourself to reality. It’s okay to be a busy bee; just don’t neglect your health, especially the needs of your physical body. They can coexist. They can be connected without being detrimental to the other. Learning about this is a milestone and you’ll be very proud of yourself.

Pile 5 (The Moon Rx)

Cards: Knight of Pentacles, King of Pentacles

There’s someone in your mind that you idolize, a person or energy you want to be like. You can say that they are kind of like royalty in your eyes: established, abundant, dependable, admired. You may have made them your personal Goals. This may be someone you personally know that you have a relationship with or a public figure whose image you can see through social media or in a workplace. 

A lot of the time I feel like you look at them and then you look at yourself in comparison. You may have been trying to pick their brain apart, or trying to find details in every little move or remark they make, either on a conscious or an unconscious level. If you’ve been a bit fixated on them in some way, you may notice that it hasn’t really been elevating you. Instead, it even seems to be slowing you down, feeding your impatience on yourself. For some of you that do not necessarily have a specific person in mind, it could be a certain financial status or a lifestyle that you’re hellbent on getting.

I feel that you need to take a step back, Pile 5, and consider that not everything may be as it seems. It’s natural not to see any flaws or imperfections from something we put on a pedestal. That is not to say that you should stop this admiration, but the grip that it has on you may indicate a deep seated reality about yourself that you need to confront, beyond the physical. Anyway, you will know about it soon. Your reflection will be made clear.
