love is hard for park sunghoon (or is it?) — psh
office employee!sunghoon x fem!reader; genre. dating for convenience to real love, fluff notes. small drabble based on the manga ‘love is hard for otaku’ bc sunghoon gives nifuji vibes in these glasses!
otaku — is a japanese word that describes people with consuming interests, particularly in anime, manga, video games, or computers
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
sunghoon was positive that he was unlovable. he was a video game otaku who slaved away at his nine to five job and had rarely felt the touch of a woman. that was until you came along, like a bright ray of sunshine moving into his cloudy life. you were very different from him, loud and obnoxious at times with a very outgoing personality. sunghoon claimed that you weren’t his type, but the lie was long forgotten when he looked at your beaming smile and bright eyes.
for some reason that sunghoon couldn’t comprehend, you were interested in him. you talked to him first and were the reason behind the man becoming a flustered mess. sunghoon tried to tell you that being interested in him was a bad idea, his relationships never worked out because of his workaholic attitude and obsession with his handheld gaming device.
“you too? my past boyfriends never understood my obsession with mangas and idols. but it seems like you would!” you said, your voice twinged with excitement. after that you had basically proposed the idea of dating for convenience and oddly, sunghoon agreed. maybe it was because he was just lonely and severely touched starved— or maybe it was because your stunning smile made sunghoon’s heart skip a beat or two. he supposed if the two of you were dating for convenience, it wouldn’t be crazy to actually fall for one and other…right? he was your ‘boyfriend’ after all, it only made sense.
sunghoon couldn’t help himself. you were so understanding and you could relate to his lifestyle unlike people he dated in the past. you also never left sunghoon alone, even when he was furiously smashing the buttons on the controller of his gaming console. you would casually sit behind the man, legs thrown over his as you read your manga.
“you comfy back there?” sunghoon spoke up, readjusting his glasses and clearing his throat. he hoped that you couldn’t feel how hard his heart was beating or the way his body had become hotter under your touch.
“yeah i’m good.” you mumbled, a slight smile on your lips as you nuzzled the side of your face into his back. your eyes never left your manga and sunghoon could tell that you were highly invested.
“did you need anything?” you asked, surprised that sunghoon even spoke. whenever he played his game, he went silent. the only sounds that emitted from his mouth were annoyed grunts and a slew of curses.
sunghoon sighed and turned off his game, detaching himself from you to put his controller away. you whined at the loss of contact which soon turned into a gasp when sunghoon practically pounced on top of you. he took the manga from you, the book seeming so tiny in his large hands when he snapped it shut.
“m’sorry i’ve been neglecting you.” sunghoon mumbled, his glasses slowly sliding down his face. you pushed them up with your finger, smiling at the way they slid down his nose again.
“you don’t have to apologize. we decided to date because we understand how each other operates, is that not correct?” you asked, surprised that sunghoon decided to apologize. you felt it was unnecessary, you were just happy that he allowed you to be in his presence.
“but i want to. you’re…different from other girls I’ve been with…in a good way of course. and for some reason, that makes me actually want to give you my attention.” sunghoon explained, the delivery of his words sounding extremely awkward. you giggled, finding it amusing how inexperienced he was when it came to relationships, but you appreciated his honesty anyway.
“if that’s your way of saying that you’re attracted to me— then I feel the same.” you said, reaching up to mess with sunghoon’s hair. he caught your hand mid air, bringing it back down to his lap before playing with your fingers.
“yeah um, i am positive that i’ve fallen for you. i know we only dated for convenience but, i really do like being in a relationship with you.” sunghoon confessed, avoiding eye contact with you. using your free hand, you grabbed his chin, turning the man’s face to look at yours.
“i really like being in a relationship with you too, hoon.” you replied, a small smile on your face. sunghoon was sure he would’ve combusted on the spot due to the way your nickname for him rolled so easily off your tongue. the man had never felt such emotions before and he was surprised by how much of a hold you had on him. he was sure that he would get down on his knees and beg for you— if you wanted him to jump, he would ask ‘how high?’.
sunghoon smiled, an actual real smile where you could see his adorable fangs. you hadn’t seen much of the expression before, but at that moment you concluded that it was your favorite thing in the world.
“can i kiss you, sunghoon?” you asked timidly, watching as the man’s eyes widened behind the frames of his glasses.
“yeah…yeah of course you can.” he answered, his heartbeat picking up the pace by a tenfold. you smiled at his nervousness, leaning over to place a hesitant kiss on his lips. before you could pull away, sunghoon grabbed the back of your head, holding you in place as he deepened the kiss and forced you to open your mouth a bit more. you let out a low whine, the sound going straight to sunghoon’s gut. he shivered against your body, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you into his lap.
“what are you doing to me?” sunghoon groaned once he pulled away, moving his face to hide in your neck. you chuckled and patted the top of his head.
“it’s just my charm. only a select few can see it so, congratulations! you’re special!” you explained, playfully tapping the man on his nose. he scrunched it up cutely, letting out a small chuckle at your enthusiasm.
“yeah, lucky me.” sunghoon mumbled, his voice monotone as ever. to most people, it may have sounded sarcastic and as if he didn’t actually mean it. but sunghoon’s lovesick eyes said otherwise…and you knew sunghoon better than most people.

dialogue 10, action 4, and core4 for the wednesday game?
“I love you too,” Bart remembers to say belatedly. He doesn’t look up from his handheld, but the other three all look away from their phone (Cassie), their tablet (Tim), and the TV (Kon), for some reason.
“Um, what?” Kon says.
“‘Too’?” Cassie repeats.
“Yeah,” Bart says, sparing a(n objective) picosecond to glance at her in-between enemies. Tim tilts his head, blinking slowly.
“What are you talking about, Bart?” he asks. Bart stares blankly at him for a couple (subjective) minutes, then wrinkles his nose.
“We’re on a recliner,” he says.
“. . . okay?” Cassie says doubtfully. “And that’s somehow relevant to you, uh . . .?”
“Loving you too,” Bart clarifies. Cassie and Kon both turn red. Tim just looks increasingly bewildered. Bart has absolutely no idea why any of them are reacting that way, but it’s whatever.
“Uh–that, sure,” Cassie manages.
“It’s a recliner,” he reminds her.
“. . . so?”
“So we’re all in it,” he reminds her again, making a point of wiggling in Kon’s lap as he says it. Well, vibrating, more like. Kon makes a really weird noise about it, for some reason, and shoves him forward down his thighs a bit as opposed to letting him stay leaning back against his chest. He does it almost fast enough to count as “quickly”, even. Which–rude, since Tim’s already hogging all of Cassie’s lap. Where else is he supposed to sit?
Also weird, Bart observes, but then decides he doesn’t really care since Kon didn't actually push him out of his lap, and plays another four levels before he realizes the others are still talking.
Whoops.
“Oh,” Tim says, blinking.
“Oh,” Cassie says, also blinking.
“Oh my god, are we, what, dating?!” Kon demands a little shrilly, sounding weirdly disbelieving about that idea for a guy currently sharing a recliner he’s big enough to take up solo with three other people.
“Sure, if you want,” Bart replies with a shrug as he finishes the game, memorizes the credits, and then boots up another. He’s really glad he got some better games last time he was in the thirty-first century, it is such a pain to play twenty-first-speed ones. “How’s that work?”
“. . . we need to have so many conversations so immediately,” Cassie mutters under her breath. “Just–immediately. I don’t even know how to start having them, but we do.”
“Um,” Tim says, looking mildly embarrassed for a moment before clearing his throat and switching to a different file on his tablet. “Would you believe I have a contingency plan for that?”
“No,” Bart says, because hello, he’s met Tim. “But I’d believe you had six to twelve contingency plans for that.”
“. . . only if you count the sub-variants of Plan B and Plan E.”

Kenma Relationship Head Canons
Thank you all for the love on the Zayne head canons it means a lot to me that you guys like my writing. I'm starting off small with head canons and then maybe soon I'll move on to drabbles. This is just to get back into writing. <3
Kenma loves his video games, we all know this. So when you guys are first together he will tilt his handheld device or his phone, whatever he has with him at the moment, over to you so you can look over his shoulder and watch him play.
At first he's a little apprehensive about bringing you to his practices because he knows that his team can be a little chaotic, not like Karasuno High's team, but in their own rambunctious way.
Eventually he will relent and you can join him. When you first enter no one really notices you and he's fine with that. Towards the end of practice when he makes a particularly good serve he looks over to you to see what your reaction is, then, and only then is when his team notices you. They don't say anything but they do give Kenma these knowing looks and suggestive faces that make the faux blonde blush and hide his face.
Later into the relationship when both you and him are more familiar with each other and know each other's personal boundaries is when his inner cat really comes out.
If you two are hanging out together at either yours or his house, he of course has his gaming device and is gaming he'll either lay on your lap with his head resting on your thighs or he'll let you lay your head on his shoulder.
When the poor boy is tired especially after practice or when he stays up all night gaming he'll get very clingy and a little pouty. If you too are alone he'll pout at you until you give him your undivided attention and he'll bury his face into the crook of your neck and let you go back to what you were doing.
He loves physical affection when the two of you are alone. It's like he becomes a whole different being. Always wanting to touch you almost every second
I feel like if you had to go to the bathroom he would go with you and ask to hold your hand. You would look at him and be like "You want to hold my hand while I pee?" with an eyebrow raised and he would just nod.
For kisses, I think he would be okay with kissing you on the cheek or forehead in front of people, when you're not then he would give you the sweetest little pecks on your lips and pull back with a boyish little smile.
His pet names he likes to call you are: Kitten (obviously), bro, babe, and I personally find this one fitting stink.
Your pet names for him are: Goober, dude, honey, and schnookems to piss him off because you think it's funny.

°`🍨: Kozume Kenma x GN! Reader
°`🍨: Small Hopes
Tumblr media
He was bored of you. From the first day your parents introduced you to him, you were simply just boring in his eyes. As if you were black and white. Absolutely no colour that would draw his eyes to your form. You just looked like all the girls that tried to charm him just because he looks cute in their eyes but after he rejected them, he suddenly gets called a jerk. Kenma was totally sure you were one of those.
But you looked at him as if he hung up all the stars for you. As if the world was made for him and he deserved all of it even though all he does is playing his games, play some volleyball and breathe like he is required to do. It was as if you were looking at a statue, build 1000 years ago, but falling in love with the little details that are still there to look at. It pulled your heartstrings when he wrinkles his nose when something annoys him. It made your heart flatter how his hair hangs in his eyes while he is focused on his handheld, that he starts to blow it out of his eyes. But it also hurt so much to see his annoyed face when you open your mouth.
It was not your fault, that you had other hobbies then he did. It was not your fault you were not able to connect to him but why does he make it look like, you did everything wrong from the first time until now? Your parents dragged you to his house after his parents wished to see you. It was Kuroo that wanted you to stay when you walked past them playing volleyball. It was the school system that made you sit in the same classroom as him. But why are you the bad person? You never argued with him. You only did small talk with him if needed. You only looked at him from far away because you both were clearly not friends. But why did your heart decide he is the boy of your dreams?
Seeing him in your dreams is nothing new. Him hugging you softly or smiling at you, with his shy but smug looking smile you sometimes see when he tricked his opponent. Dreaming about a what if situation that will never happen. In the end it was just a stupid crush that made it hard for both of you. Still you needed to let go for his peace of mind and your hurting heart. But why is letting go so hard?
You don't feel giving up because what if he happens to look past his first thoughts. What if he changes his mind? You also don't want to look weak. Weak for giving up a situation that could change. You still have one whole year until your paths will very probably part away. Even if the chance is so small you would need to zoom in on a phone, you would try to grab it with both of your bare hands. Everything that might change something even if it's just you both talking like normal classmates. What the most stupid thing is, is problem you're trying to do all of it on your own. Everything Kuroo tries to catch you and trap you in a situation with his teammate, you always find a way to escape. When the second years somehow nudge you in his direction, you always dodge Kenma before you both collided.
It was hard but one day it might change something. This was your hope and dream. Even if your heart was literally bleeding in your chest, you would just put a band-aid over it while crossing your fingers that it hopefully works out in your favour.
Tumblr media
°`🍨: I wanted it to look like a small rant! It's nothing good or life changing but i think it's somehow still bitter sweet :> I might also open my requests for real this time lmao
°`🍨: RESQUESTS ARE ??? (NOT SURE LMAO)

"I've lived my life with blade and you always in my mind"
ꜱɪᴅᴇ ꜱᴛᴏʀʏ: 𝚍. 𝙸 𝚐𝚞𝚎𝚜𝚜 𝙸'𝚖 𝚓𝚞𝚜𝚝 𝚊 𝚏𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚢𝚘𝚞, 𝚑𝚞𝚑?
Synopsis: Narumi Gen initially thought that Uzui Kagami was pathetic with her self-depreciating thoughts and how she let people run their mouths. He hates how he lets himself be dragged around by her cuz it's comfortable, especially that sweet smile that makes her look unbothered when it was, in fact, the opposite. He also hates how she's the fiancee of his rival when she should've been...
Pairing/s: Unrequited!Narumi Gen x OC
Note/s: I was too lazy so I just wrote 3 scenes😭 Will make a part 2 soon. It's also connected to 'that decision' mentioned in the intro
Masterlist: TOC, Previous, Next
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Uzui Kagami didn't expect her life to take an unexpected turn after transferring to the First Division. Heck, she didn't even expect she'd be recruited by THE Shinomiya Isao but she did! Yet here she was starting to maybe regret her decision as she stared at the lazy man in front of her.
.
.
"Excuse me"
She called out to the man hiding behind a vending machine, crouching like the object would hide his body. The man was playing with a handheld console she recalled was a PSP with a game she doesn't know. His hair was let down to cover his eyes yet she recognizes this man. It was 'The Troublemaker' Narumi Gen, who was in the same squadron as her.
She found him by coincidence after she left the study room to go to the training room as stated in her schedule when she heard sounds coming from a vending machine besides the storage room. It wasn't loud enough to be heard by an untrained ear so any normal human would probably not notice it but Kagami could. She seemed to have deduced that there's only one person in the base who would go out of his way to hide in an inconspicuous location just to play.
"Narumi Gen-san?"
She once again called out to the dual toned hair guy who tried to ignore her once more but couldn't as she stood in front of him.
"What do you want? I'm busy"
Gen just waved her away with his hand then resumed back to his game.
"Training starts in 10 minutes. We're going to be late"
Kagami, with her outstanding patience, didn't seem bothered at all by his gesture. She reminded him of the scheduled training they have that afternoon.
"Then you go by yourself. Why bother asking me?"
Narumi Gen was starting to get annoyed by the persistent woman in front of him.
"I do not wish to see you be scolded for being late if there's something I can do about it"
Kagami gave him genuine concern as she had already seen him be scolded multiple times during her time there. To her, his demeanor wasn't normal and it bothered her.
"Why are you being so concerned? Who are you anyways?"
Gen finally looked up to the meddlesome person in front of him to see a person he didn't know. Her long black hair hanging on her side and black eyes staring at him without any trace of scorn, something he usually sees from people around him.
"Pardon me for not introducing myself first. I am Uzui Kagami who just joined the First Division last week. I was assigned to the same squadron as you, Narumi-san"
Seeing him finally looking at her, she crouched down to meet him eye to eye when introducing herself as it was polite to do so. Her untied hair bouncing as she did, gently draping over her shoulders. Her smile was as polite as it can be but it was doing something to Gen's heart.
"Y-yeah whatever"
Somehow, he couldn't meet her in the eyes so he turned back to his game where the words 'YOU DIED' was displayed. Usually he'd feel frustrated but he was still trying his best to hide the heat that was growing on his face.
"Ummm is that game that important?"
The lady who introduced herself as Uzui Kagami moved to the empty space beside him so she could peek as his game. She doesn't really understand how it works but she could feel that it's importance whenever he focuses his concentration on it.
"I'm about to defeat the boss"
That's what he said when in fact, he was still stuck in the middle levels and just restarted the game. He tried hard to ignore the woman watching him, who was tucking the stray strands of hair on her face back to her ears.
"Will you be able to finish it within 5 minutes?"
Kagami watched him play for awhile then turned to the watch of her wrist. There were only 5 minutes left and the way to the training grounds is also 5 minutes, if not more.
"Probably"
"Then excuse me"
As soon as she heard his response, she immediately put her hands under his knees and on his back then lifted him up. Time was running out and she needs them to go now or they'll be late.
"W-wha?! What the heck is wrong with you?!"
Wide-eyed, Gen was so surprised when he was suddenly lifted in a princess carry that he almost dropped his console. Why was the pretty stranger yet not stranger carrying him?!
"Please don't worry. You can just play your game while I bring you to our destination"
Kagami gave him a reassuring smile as she fast walked to the training grounds with him in her arms.
"It's not that! My problem is why am I being carried like a princess?!"
Gen couldn't help but cover his entire face with his console in embarrassment. Never in his life had he been carried like this by anyone!
"Ohh... I thought it would be better than having you on my shoulder or on my back so you could play comfortably. I'm sorry for touching you without permission"
She slowed down her pace but continued to walk. It really doesn't matter to her what position he's in if they could go there fast but it seems her consideration was a bit too much for him. She couldn't see what was wrong yet as she's still blinded by the fact that they'll be late.
"Just why are you doing this to me?"
"I told you. I do not wish for you to be scolded for being late."
Narumi Gen wanted to die from embarrassment. Yet he couldn't bring himself to be angry at her, who seem to really just want to go with him to the training grounds together.
"At least change the position"
Her eyes brightened and she eagerly let him down and he could see how big their height difference was. She was a head shorter then him yet she could carry him with such ease... Well, most could probably do so but who would want to involve themselves with him if not this weirdo.
"You're so short yet you really think you could carry me?"
He uses his hand to visually compare their heights by placing it on his head then to her own. But his hand couldn't reach her before she crouched down.
"Height does not matter when slaying kaijus. Please hurry up or we'll be late"
She turned to him with a smile as she crouched down in front of him, her hands ready at her sides to carry him.
"You're going to regret this"
He warned her yet he still got on her back to a comfortable piggyback ride to the training room.
'I could get used to this'
He thought as he played to his heart's content without minding anything else, ignoring the fast beating of his own heart. The confused bystanders who saw them couldn't seem to believe their eyes at the sight. The quiet newbie and the troublemaker combo was the least thing they ever expected to see that day.
The combo that would soon become a common occurrence in the First Division.
.
.
.
"Umm why am I doing this again?"
"I told you, you were going to regret it"
He reminded her as she started carrying him again to their destination for the nth time. Kagami couldn't help but sigh at the past her's actions as it was her fault she made him be comfortable by volunteering to be his transportation.
=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=
Only a few months after joining the First Division, Kagami has successfully established herself as a proper member of the base. She would've wanted to be recognized for her skills most but she knew she was more known for something else. That something was related to the missing, newly promoted captain, Narumi Gen.
"That brat, Gen, is missing again. Uzui, do you know where he is hiding this time?"
Hasegawa Eiji, who was annoyed to see the empty room, rubbed his temple as he turned to the only officer standing inside the captain's office. Despite having on a respirator mask, he knew exactly who it was as she's the only one allowed inside his office.
"I beg your pardon Vice Captain Hasegawa but I am not a missing person detector"
Officer Uzui Kagami couldn't help but sigh. She wasn't annoyed but she's been asked about his location all of the time ever since they showed up together, with him on her back, to training. She knew there would be consequences when she chose to be involved with him but she didn't think it would affect her life for so long.
"The two of you are the only ones in the room. There's no way you don't know where he is"
Vice Captain Hasegawa is extremely suspicious. He knew of her skills. The Uzui's are mostly known for being shinobi's, and that shinobi's are masters of deception. He also knew that Kagami is an honest person that doesn't see any benefit from lying. If not for her mask, he could at least try to read her face for any lies.
"Where is he?"
Kagami blames herself for befriending her captain as it meant she had to serve under him and follow his orders directly. It also meant that whenever he's hiding, she'll be the one to find and fetch him. To drag him from whatever mess he's creating and clean up after him.
She isn't scared of her vice captain despite the scary expression on his face right now. Nor is she scared of the complaining her captain will whine about later. She just wanted to get it over and done with.
"He's inside one of the boxes over there sir"
"Kagami, you traitor!"
She pointed over to the tower of amazon boxes that he ordered. She and her captain made a fort that was hollow inside so he could hide when the vice captain arrives but she knew it was a futile attempt. Especially when he let out a loud noise after she exposed his location.
Vice Captain Hasegawa dragged out the whining captain and went out of the room while the officers he brought with him were cleaning up his room. Usually it was her job to do so but she had to follow them out first. After all, she had something more important to do.
After they arrived at Vice Captain Hasegawa's office where Gen was being scolded, she got caught in the crossfire for letting him be. Used to being scolded, Kagami just stood there and let the time pass by.
"Officer Uzui, what's the business you wanted to talk about?"
Vice Captain Hasegawa, having finished his rants turned to the woman still standing properly, ignoring the whining man on the side. She took a letter from her pocket and placed it on the table.
.
.
"Captain Narumi, Vice Captain Hasegawa. I would like to quit the defense force"
"May I ask the reason why?"
The whining captain immediately went silent and the vice captain opened his eyes wide in shock. Hasegawa kept his composure and asked.
"My family has been encouraging me to quit for a long time now. I've been postponing it but I think it's time to listen to them"
"I won't accept that kind of reason"
Narumi Gen, with a uncharacteristically serious expression on his face, was incredibly upset.
"Are you a puppet? It's been on my mind for a long time but why do you keep letting your family decide on your actions? You're old enough to be independent and have a mind of your own yet you still let yourself be pushed around like this"
He stood up from where he was at and trekked towards her, his hair now slicked back revealing his eyes. The eyes that were compatible with Kaiju no.1, which could be considered a lie detector if used well. Stared straight to her own despite the mask, he took the resignation letter and ripped it to shreds.
"You are the one who told me you wanted to change and become better and I believe you. You are my soldier. You can't just leave because you lost confidence in yourself thus blaming it on your family. I am not letting you go just because they said so. Your place is here in the First Division. And you, Uzui Kagami, is stuck here with me because I said so"
Placing his face closer to her own, it would seem really intimate if not for the mask she's wearing. She had no choice but to lift up her head and not break eye contact as it meant she'll lose.
And she did lose. Because all she ever wanted was someone to believe in her and acknowledge her hard work, enough to blow away her worries.
"How is that any different from my family, sir?"
"It's different because I know full well you want to stay here"
This was the moment she vowed to support her captain.
=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=
"Hey! Why didn't you tell me?"
As soon as Kagami got back from the day off her fiance forced her to get after getting injured, she was approached by her frustrated captain.
"Tell you what, sir?"
Confused, Kagami tilted her head. She doesn't really know what he's talking about.
"That you're that guy's fiancee"
As if a bulb of realization lit up her mind, she finally understood what he meant.
"Ah... Apologies sir, everyone from my previous division knew so I just thought you guys knew, as well"
Kagami didn't really mean to keep it a secret. She thought it was already a fact everyone knew but clearly it wasn't as she never really talked about it before. It never got brought up in a conversation after all.
"Still does not justify you not telling me! I thought we..."
'...Had something special' is what he wanted to say but trailed off. As he bored holes into her round eyes filled with innocence, he just couldn't bring himself to do so.
"I thought we were friends?!"
He just let out something else, something that describes their relationship better.
"Eh? I thought you said we weren't friends?"
Kagami remember him saying that while Gen recalled his interrupted confession before. He was glad he didn't get to do so as it would've risked everything with her.
"Tsk would I let you carry me and do all that to me if we weren't"
Narumi clicked his tongue, not only from the missed opportunity but also from just being called a 'friend'.
"Captain Narumi..."
"Gen"
"Eh?"
"Just call me Gen, since we're friends and all"
"But..."
"Don't even bother with the honorifics! We're friends so you have the right to call me that!"
Frustrated once more, Gen couldn't help but increase the volume of his voice. He saw how she flinched at his sudden volume so he immediately toned it down.
"If you're that bothered then you can just call me that when we're alone"
Rubbing his neck, he didn't know what to do if she still rejected him after this.
"Alright, Gen"
"Though Gen seems a bit too intimate, can I just call you Gen-kun?"
His heart thumped loudly he thought she could hear it. He asked her to call him that yet here he was getting flustered over it. Even hearing her call him Gen-kun was enough to make him feel like he just slayed multiple daikaijus all by himself.
"I-It's fine either way"
His rival may have gotten her first but there's no way in hell he'll give up just yet.

The Batfamily on a roadtrip:
Bruce: The Driver. You really thought his control freak ass was gonna let someone else drive? Be so fr. Has a migraine the size of the WatchTower and has been seriously contemplating pulling over, getting out of the car, and just walking. Not anywhere particular, just walking away. Has already had to pull over twice to swap seating arrangements around and they've only driven 3 1/2 hours out of 11. (They will do this at least 3 more times before they reach their destination)
Barbara: Shotgun. Declared that as second oldest and second most experienced vigilante that the front seat was her birth given right. No one contested it(successfully anyway). Has been helpfully navigating the fastest route much to Bruce "I know where I'm going" Wayne's annoyance. (Her way was in fact more efficient and she is incredibly smug about it.)
Jason: Behind the Passenger seat. Wanted the front seat but wasn't willing to physically fight Babs for it which was what she assured him it would have taken to get her to move. Brought a backpack full of nothing but snacks that he is only sharing with people that aren't actively annoying him aka Cass. Keeps playing words with friends with Roy on his phone and is Kicking Ass
Cassandra: Middle Left. Volunteered for the middle seat because she wanted to sit next to Jason aka the Snack Source while still being close enough to comfortably talk to Babs and Steph. Is one of the few enjoying the drive and just in general living her best life. Somehow painted both her own and Steph’s nails perfectly while the car was in motion. No one is sure how she did this and they were watching
Stephanie: Middle Right. Was originally sitting Middle Back next to Tim but caused the first seat swap when she got bored and decided Tim made suitable entertainment(imagine like in Detective comics #1000). Bruce declared the car a "No Flirting Zone" shortly after. Pouted for all of thirty seconds before she realized she got to sit next to Cass and abandoned Tim without a second thought. Is also the person pointing to the window and going “cows!” Whenever they pass some
Dick: Behind the Driver's seat. Chose his seat while everyone else was fighting for shotgun because he wanted to be able to see Babs during the drive so they could talk without shouting.(he knew good and well she was winning that fight). Has had a few arguments with Jason but they didn't last or get out of hand with Cass between them. Did manage to steal a bag of chips from Jason’s snackpack while he was on his phone. The roadtrip was his idea and he refuses to admit it was not well thought out.
Tim: Back Left. Was thoroughly betrayed when Steph abandoned him to be left with the two youngest bats and said so at length. Only quieted when Jason threw a pack of gummy worms at his head with a demand for silence. Brought an abundance of handheld electronics despite knowing he gets car sick. He threw up on the side of the road 90 minutes into the trip and Dick confiscated anything that had a screen until they reached their destination. He is his own worst enemy. Has since resorted to playing the license plate game with Duke
Duke: Back Middle. Was originally in between Cass and Dick but had to move to sit Back Left next to Damian when Steph took his spot. He stayed there for exactly 45 minutes before Damian caused the second seat swap when he attempted to strangle Tim with his headphones because he was "breathing obnoxiously". Is now a human barrier and he hates it. Jason offered him a small amount of sympathy by offering him some Sour Patch Kids. Duke accepted them. Bruce was more sympathetic and gave him DJ control. Is mostly just talking with Tim who is bored since his electronics were taken.
Damian: Back Right. Attempted to attack Stephanie with a pillow because he “couldn’t listen to her and Drake anymore and she was closer” before the first seat swap occurred. Did not regret his actions in the slightest. Warned his father that nothing good would come from him sitting directly beside Tim, was ignored, and then moved when "nothing good" did indeed come. Despite these to things, he actually spent the majority of the drive with his headphones on full volume and messing around on his phone while he pretended to be anywhere other than there.
Alfred: In The Car Following Behind Them. Yeah there was no way he was getting in that car. He knows a recipe for disaster when he sees one. Didn't hesitate to "offer" that he would happily transport all the luggage and supplies and meet them there. Was already loaded up and ready to go in a separate car before anyone could question him. Somehow got there first and had made dinner for them when they all finally showed up with half the car at war with the other half. Peace was made only in the name of Alfred’s cooking

AITA for not giving my brother my old gaming consoles?
So I (28m) love video games. Nintendo's handheld consoles in particular (I also own my parents old '98 computer and some of the PC games). They were a crucial part of my childhood and I strived to save every console and game that I could, and still keep them now for sentimental value and the sake of preserving them. My brother (30m) was never really into video games, but because we came from a lower class family, the gaming consoles and all subsequent games were typically gifted to "the whole family" and by extention, my brother, as he was the older child, but they all ended up becoming mine in the end, as I was the only one who would use them beyond the first week of owning them.
As we got older, my brother lost all interest in video games, so games started to get gifted to me directly, while the consoles remained "for the family". None of them were ever "officially" handed over to me, except for my father handing me his old grey Gameboy and going "here, you like this more than me" (that Gameboy and the Metroid game in it are my ultimate treasure). But again, I was the only one who cared about them, so everything I could beg my parents to not sell got added to my collection.
Now that we're all adults and my brother has kids and said kids are now old enough for video games (both are 6yo) they both have taken an interest. Which is awesome! I let my niece and nephew play on my Switch when they come over, and sometimes they watch me play games on my PC. They also have tablets that they play games on too, so there's no shortage of access, and my SIL is thinking about getting a Switch for at home (they love Kirby).
Just a month ago though, my brother randomly asked me for "his consoles back". When I asked why, he told me it was because he wanted to give them to his kids. When I asked which ones, he wanted them all. From the grey Gameboy up to the Gamecube.
I flat out told him no. First off, the Gamecube was sold in a yard sale after my parents "persuaded" me to let them sell it. The Gamecube I own now was gifted by a friend, so that one is 100% mine. My brother doesn't believe me on that. Second, none of these handheld consoles are being made anymore, they can be hard to find depending on where you are, and the price of the games for them are even higher. I love my niece and nephew, but they are little kids, and it would be devestating to see or hear that one of those old consoles got snapped in half or crushed. Also, again, these consoles are my entire childhood. These are the ones I held in my hands as a kid, and those games are the ones I had for years, and contained my save files on them. They mean way too much to me.
My brother got mad at me, claiming that I'm being selfish and that I can just "buy another one online" and that "they sit in a storage bin all the time", and got even angrier when I asked him why HE couldn't just buy them online. We apparently are on the same page that these consoles hold sentimental value to us, but I'm having a hard time seeing his side of it when he barely touched them.
He hasn't brought it up since, but apparently my brother's been complaining to our parents because my mother called me a few days ago to tell me that I am being selfish and to "just give him the games already". She hates seeing us fight and tends to pick the side of the kid that complains to her first, so IDK if I believe her. My dad doesn't care, and my SIL thinks spending the money on a Switch would be money better spent.
I do feel a little bad, I know I would be steaming mad if the roles were reversed, but I just do not see how he suddenly cares so much about these consoles all of a sudden, and I absolutely do not trust that he would make sure his kids are careful with them.
So, AITA? Am I being selfish? I already was thinking about letting my niece and nephew try out the old consoles when they're older and I get them all set up in a proper display case, I just do not want to lose ownership of these consoles. I already lost the Gamecube, Wii, and so many games (including PC games) to my parents "convicining me" to sell them. I don't want to lose any more.
What are these acronyms?

Thinking a little more on the whole "when did Margie and Raf realize they were In A Relationship?" question, and while they'd both struggle to find a definitive moment, I think there was one particular situation that arose to kinda...lock things in for them.
Sometime prior to autumn 2009, Margie was headhunted by Bioware[Edmonton] thanks to the recommendation of an old Orbital Media colleague who was trying to establish/salvage Bioware's beleaguered handheld dev team. Following a promising phone interview, she was asked to make a 30 second demo track as part of the hiring process, and met expectations well enough that she was offered a job as an in-house musician and sound designer. Which also meant that she'd have to move to Edmonton. She had been keeping Raf up to date with this whole thing, mostly because she was too excited to keep it to herself. Raf was hugely supportive and excited -for- her. 'Cus like...he plays games. He even plays Bioware games, so, yanno...very cool. But he had also assumed this was gonna be more of a freelance contract kind of thing. And so, hearing her mention that the company would cover the costs of relocating her to Edmonton comes as a weird surprise. And suddenly, he's having a real hard time being excited for her. He keeps it to himself, 'cus he'd be an asshole not to. He's been really adamant with himself, and with anyone who asks, that he and Margie are just really good, comfortable friends/roommates. But even by this point, he's kinda known and been unwilling to admit to himself that the only reason he hasn't openly recognized their relationship for what it actually is--is because the non-committal ambiguousness provides him a clean way out if he starts feeling cagey/uncomfy about anything. It was an exit door that he liked keeping open incase he needed it. But Margie had seen it differently. To her, it was a door she figured she was gonna have to leave through eventually. Because Raf would inevitably find a more serious partner to settle down with, or he'd be whisked off by some other important venture that she couldn't be a part of. She figured he was leaving that door open because his current situation was a temporary transitional stage in his life that he simply allowed her to be a part of. And so, she's not really torn-up about the prospect of leaving, especially under the circumstances. It presented an easier, more exciting transition than she might have had to face if Raf had 'outgrown' her first.
So, Margie's excited about the new job offer, and Raf's sitting there feeling like he played himself--while being wholly unable/unwilling to tell her "Hey, uh...this sucks, actually, I really don't want you to go." Because that'd require him to admit that he's been lying to himself--which sucks. But more than that, it'd require him to admit that he's been lying to her--only employing honesty as a tool of convenience to dissuade her from going and getting something really good for herself. He can't, he won't. The sudden off-key in his tone, though, doesn't go unnoticed by her, and Margie is perfectly candid about the whole "we'll visit each other, I'll stay in touch--I'm not gonna disappear on you lmao" Except that's not really...how Raf operates. Distance + time does not make this man's paranoid lil' heart grow fonder. There's never been a relationship-friend, family, or otherwise-with enough staying power for Raf to maintain it once they're no longer within physical proximity. Even if he wants to 'keep in touch', it quickly falls off. He's just known...too many people, and been too many places...his brain doesn't have the bandwidth to maintain close relationships when there's a distance. And, after a long enough pause in communication, his paranoid anxieties lift the barrier of entry higher and higher until it's almost insurmountable. People become strangers again. Always. In the end, Bioware did not get to develop any more handheld titles, and the handheld division in Edmonton is dissolved before Margie was even offered a job start date to plan her big move around. And so the whole thing falls apart before it even had the chance to get started lmao. At which point, Raf finally allows himself to be honest and say "thank god, I was fuckin' dreading an empty apartment again." Treats her to a consolatory dinner, and gets to tell her as much as he is able to figure out for himself--that he doesn't really know what he wants, actually--but that things aren't as casual and clean-cut as he thought it was. He still can't bring himself to be like "yes, romantic committed relationship, that's us, that's what we are" but he does at least take measures to establish that he'd really like to take off his shoes, place them on the rack next to hers, and close the door behind him.

Could you do headcanons Shang Tsung with a siren reader who is as evil as he is?
♒︎ ┆SHANG TSUNG w. DARK SIREN!READER HCS
Tumblr media
tw(s): gn pronouns (you only), sfw, villain!reader, manipulation, jealousy, possessiveness/controlling tropes, one (1) question of faithfulness, typical siren powers, mdni
notes: for the sake of the story, reader has legs and is humanoid. also trying out new formatting styles so i apologize if there’s inconsistencies between posts/req
masterlist
Tumblr media
— Spoiler: he’s the one who’s lured. He knew it asap.
— Yet he must lie to say he’s immune to you (he’s not). It’ll humble you in a way and keep him out of trouble, for now. That’s really the only reason I could think of as to why he wouldn’t jump to be in a relationship with you
— But best believe you’re already his.
— He just needs you to be focused on doing what he needs you to do in order to get ahead of his enemies. He’s also wary of you turning on him, so he’s only keeping a ‘close eye on you’, or whatever that means
— You don’t believe it for a second, but you play his little game. It’s annoying for a while when all you’re used for is to lure Liu Kang and his champion, as well as keep henchmen under a sort of trance
— However, you’re determined to prove that he’s not immune to you, if not the most head-over-heels of all the people you’ve lured
— Charm is on 100, and when you practically throw yourself on Johnny Cage when he gets to his lab (for example, other than the way you speak to General Shao or some random pawn), that tether anchoring Shang Tsung almost snaps
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
Shang Tsung is leaned against the cold wall with arms crossed, having been mean-mugging you from the corner ever since the Earthrealm champion left his laboratory.
He’d catch up with them later. For now, you.
It drove him further up the wall that you didn’t seem to care that his gaze pierced your very soul, as you kept picking away at your glass skin in a simple handheld mirror.
You shut it with carefully manicured hands, and you’d finally paid him attention where there he is across the room. Your painted lips flatten into a tauntingly tantalizing line.
“Excuse me?” you bat your eyelashes.
“You’re excused,” he replied, sulking further where he stood.
“You fished me out of my house to do a job, and that very job I did. Was there something I missed in that contract, Tsung?” you asked, but you got no answer except a brooding look. He knew if he spoke right now, he’d forfeit.
Your pursed lips curve into a smirk, you tilt your head at him and you squint. With a sway of your hips, you watch each other as you leave.
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
..
— The straw to break the camels back was when you did it again, but this time got too touchy feely with one of those peers who are of status.
— He’s straightforward (and borderline aggressive that’s hiding behind a sly way with words) about what he wants now while you’re so nonchalant about it; he wants you all to himself. But that doesn’t mean you’ll stop luring people, no
— By time he realizes what he’s doing, it’s too late to go back. He figures that you’ve been worthy enough all this time because you made it this far, so why not? It couldn’t be that bad, having a beautiful thing like you on his arm
— While your fidelity might be questioned if you continue to lure people, it’s not a debate whether or not you have Shang Tsung wrapped around your finger now.
— …You’ll have to make up for/prove it in private quarters to keep him close, as he tends to act out when he thinks you’re phasing him out. And just between you and him: he’d ask you to sing him to sleep some nights while you were big spoon.
— He lavishes you, but he still has his mind enough to put himself first. No matter how much you try, you could never make Shang Tsung put you above himself enough to be able to make a puppet out of him.
— You’ll settle for second place.. For now.

I think Emu constantly drags WxS into games after/before practice so here are headcanons of them playing and hanging out. Whimsy and fun wandasho forever
They like to do acting games as a warm up. They take turns acting out a motion, object, or animal and the rest have to guess what it is. Emu repeatedly calls out the first thing that comes to mind regardless of how accurate it is, Tsukasa and Nene are normally the best guessers, but Rui is the only one who can guess what on earth Emu is trying to imitate. She always picks difficult things like food or something random she saw that day.
If they wrap up practice early and have nothing better to do, I think hide-and-seek is a go to. Emu is THE best hider. Being five foot nothing is a superpower, she squeezes herself into tight places like a bug. A majority of the time they give up on looking for her and she crawls out of the most ridiculous hiding spot giggling. It's practically cheating because she knows the park so well. Nene is a close second, she’s a professional at not wanting to be seen.
The worst hider is Tsukasa for no particular reason, he gets really competitive to the point he starts scoping out a spot to hide before practice and but he’s almost always found first and it makes him really mad. Emu and Rui sometimes pretend to pass up his spot so he can feel like he’s winning. Nene doesn’t spare him the pity.
Rui is at a hiding disadvantage because of his height and gets alittle ambitious so he will occasionally get himself stuck somewhere and everyone starts worrying if he’s the last person to be found. He’s annoying to find because he keeps moving to obvious spots the seeker already checked so he knows they won’t come back. Tsukasa and Nene claim it’s cheating and everytime he pulls out the crocodile tears.
Rui is also the most annoying seeker because sometimes he can point out where everyone is hiding without even moving from the spot he counted. They swear he cheats but he just has really good intuition about these kinds of things. Not only can he find them quickly, he could explain the exact thought process that led them to hide there.
“I heard the branches rustling so I knew Emu-kun climbed a tree to my right. Nene gave up halfway through a picked a spot she’s already chosen before and Tsukasa-kun panicked realizing he was running out of time so his hiding was clumsy and rushed.”
...They swear he’s cheating.
If they play tag it usually ends in a showdown between Emu and Tsukasa. Tsukasa takes it as practice for catching her when she sneaks into their school… but playing has only made Emu even faster and better at escaping him.
Normally they limit the hiding range to a specific area, but if they’re feeling especially competitive they will play the game with full range of the park while RoboNene and the mascots help as seekers.
Rui is actually very quick and knows exactly how to get someone off his tail. It’s all “I refuse to jump more than an inch off the ground during MVs” to a professional athlete sprint when it’s time to run away from teachers.
Nene is the worst at tag, sometimes she flat out refuses to play and wonders “How on earth do you guys still have this much energy after practice…?” WxS agreed she can have RoboNene carry her during tag because it’s fun but Rui keeps making suggestions to add rockets to her feet or other outrageous ways to make her faster.
They have a stash of board games in the back of the stage. They’ll play if it gets rainy during practice while discussing their next show. Monopoly turns Rui into a monster, WxS’s TRUE disbandment arc, friendships ruined, lives destroyed, etc. Does his greed know no bounds….!?
They would be suckers for a DnD campaign.
They all lean over Nene’s shoulder while she plays on her phone or whatever handheld console she has and watch like toddlers. She’ll give them a turn if they pull out the puppy eyes for long enough.

CARL 2 anything left to scrape off walls of this barrel before hitting the baseline facts?
Sorry for taking so long to do this, had a lot going on offline lol.
Okay, Carl round 2. I think in the first Carl post I made, I focused a lot on him narratively and how the plot handles his character so I guess I'll focus on being more casual with this one. Just getting out random thoughts, you know?
Carl and Daxton's friendship was one of the best parts of the vn. I would read an entire story of those two just being best buds after Flynn's route.
I kind of want to know what specific irl games (or their in universe equivalent) Carl is into cause in Route 65 Chase says that Carl is playing a "Japanese Tactics RPG" on his handheld and my mind immediately went to Fire Emblem. And idk I find the idea of the Echo gang knowing about Fire Emblem to be very funny for some reason.
I wish we got a bit more Sydney and Carl flashbacks. Both of them were very close to Flynn and Carl expresses discontent over the lack of answers surrounding Syd's death. I just wonder how close they were and what their friendship was like. Especially considering the shit in TJ's route with the "never have I ever killed somebody" or how Carl wanted to do the treasure hunt to get some closure. It makes it seem like those two were better friends than say Syd and Jenna, but we don't really see any of it.
Speaking of Carl's relationships with different characters, we have to talk about Carl and Flynn right? I'm not into the shipping scene much, but "Flarl" is something I can get behind. This post always jumps to mind when I think of their relationship and it is probably the most compelling piece of Flarl content I've ever seen, official or otherwise. Also I occasionally see the opinion that Flynn/Carl didn't have much hints in the prologue and Carl's route. And I can agree with the prologue, but in the beginning of Carl's route, Flynn and Carl was having an argument over Carl spending time with Chase over Flynn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chase rationalizes the "making out" comment and the other remarks between Flynn and Carl as a joke (and on my first reading I did as well) but in retrospect yeah wow there were more hints towards their relationship than I remember.
Also wait Carl isn't an only child right? I might be saying bullshit but I swear he mentions a sister in his route.
He fucking does what
Tumblr media
who the hell is she? wait she gets mentioned once and then never again what is going on there?

Physically I am just chilling in bed, but in my mind I am peppering Kaito’s face with little kisses while holding his face in my hands. He is my little meow meow.
"Meow, meow!" You paw at the arm in your lap, the pink-haired boy it's attached to having been snuggled up beside you on the couch for a good while now.
Your neighbors probably think there's a few especially noisy cats living here. But they'd be wrong, because the only animals living in this apartment are you, and-
"Mrrow?" A crisp, perfect purr rumbles from Kaito's throat, his eyes still glued to the screen of his handheld. The console's been buzzing with flashy lights and the tinny sounds of explosions for the past half an hour, your boyfriend's game keeping his focus as he's working on beating his friend's high score. This whole meowing thing started as a joke, but now it's become a genuine mode of communication--when you're too lazy to even form words, your slowly-improving cat impressions say all that needs to be said.
"Maow!" Another pawing motion, and your fingers wrapped up in his hoodie strings to drag him closer, and Kaito's snort of laughter puts a sour scowl on your face. It's not destined to last, though, because it's merely a precursor for his game to settle in his lap and his head to turn to accept a well-deserved kiss on the mouth. For once he's remembered to put on chapstick, thank goodness. His lips feel so nice, so soft, and it feels like such a waste for them not to be taken care of--but at the very least, he's started doing it just for you.
"How many kisses?" He murmurs low under his breath, eyes half-lidded as he just barely manages to keep your lips at bay to answer. "You know I'm busy, babe. Name your price."
"Four hundred thousand." If he weren't so distracted, you know your answer would assuredly earn you a bout of laughter. He's got such a pretty laugh. He does smile at you, though, for better or for worse.
"That's a little unrealistic. Why not four, to start?"
"Four thousand? Meow?" Tacking on that pretty plea is a low blow, but the hiccup you can feel in Kaito's stomach as you rub your hand over it is exactly the reaction you wanted. He can just be so easy to work over. Hence why his fingers are coming up to clasp around yours, halting your gentle strokes with a hitch of breath in his throat. His legs shift position, moving about with uncomfortable weight before he settles one over the other--for once, sitting his console on his lap seems to benefit him this time, especially with those soft cheeks growing dark.
"Four, baby. I'll just be a little longer." Your ears twitch at the hint of strain in his voice, a sigh passing from your lips to his as you claim the first one. No tongue this time. He deserves to suffer a little bit for making you wait. But the other three make a perfect triforce over his face; left cheek, right cheek, and between the brows where he's got the faintest little freckle on the side. Kaito's eyes have shut while you work, only to flutter open once you're finished, the nibbling on his lower lip a clear tell that he wishes it wouldn't end so soon. But he's got a thing about finishing whatever he's focused on and he can't divert from it for long. That gleam in his eyes is a warning that he'll make it up to you once this task is finished, though.....which could be good or bad, considering you can still feel an ache from the other morning. Even with his lap as a buffer, that gaming chair of his is so uncomfortable.
In a flash, Kaito's tuned back in to the game like nothing ever happened. Yet, when you move your hand from his belly to go find something to entertain yourself with, his unusually strong grip tugs you back to settle against his shoulder. He presses it down firmly, fiddling about with only one hand--the other arm then circles around your shoulders, and he covertly slides you further into his lap for you to entwine yourselves together. From this angle you can watch him play, he can rest his weight on you, have a prop for his arm to sit up and quit getting sore....and Kai's desire to snuggle into you is returned tenfold, the two of you practically inseparable as you settle in for a long afternoon.

What is your experience with Animal Crossing?
Okay it has been literally over three months since you sent this so I apologise I just have a lot to say and wanted to enjoy going on about Animal Crossing.
My first was Animal Crossing Wild World, which I saved up for and bought, even pre-owned it was expensive for primary school me. I did not know much about the game and it was years before I realised that the copy hadn't been wiped so I'd walked into someone else's town. I'm guessing someone called George, since my town was named Egroeg. But by that point I'd been playing for so long I didn't want to wipe my progress. Also by then I had realised that he had upgraded Nook's to the highest version, which would have been hard for me to replicate because it involved playing multiplayer and I only had one other friend with the game. I really loved ACWW, and I spent lots of time playing it even though I definitely didn't understand a lot of elements of the game. My friend and I spend loads of time imagining things we'd love to add to the game, like if you could get a job (paying that loan off in shells is hard!) and I thought it would be cute if you could drive around in a little car that had a boot for extra inventory space (backpacks fill up a lot when things don't stack). I became best friends with Kiki in this game and when she moved I was so sad that I planted a tree where her house had been thinking that would stop another house taking her place (I was wrong, but it's the thought that counts).
I did get AC Let's Go to the City for the Wii, but never racked up many hours on that because being console based I'd have to find time when the family wasn't using the TV. I definitely prefer it as a handheld game.
I got given Animal Crossing New Leaf for my birthday when it released and I maintain this is best AC game. I still love it so much. I love that they introduced the mechanics of town design, most notably that Roost was a stand alone cafe and you got to choose where to place it!!!!! I think this might be around the time I first started following you (saxyplaya hehe) I assume because I found you from looking for QR codes for designs. I am still obsessed with so many of the QR code dresses people came up with. I think ACNL had the best balance of effort to output. Like it had these town design features but still took ages to do things. You had to grow trees from scratch and grow them again if you placed em wrong. This made everything feel more satisfying though, imo. You really put in the hours, and days and weeks, so the results would make me feel proud. I love that there are so many fruit tree varieties, I love visiting the island, I love that you CAN work at the Roost and that Brewster would give you coffee rewards. The updates they made with Happy Home Designer and the campsite, including adding the 'god mode' furniture design thing did make things a lot easier. But I like actually that to see anything you have to actually put it on/put it in the room, in your cupboards everything is just the generic category icon. I still have not caught all the bugs and fish in this game. I THINK I have all the fossils, but I think it makes it more fun for longer if it's not so easy to catch everything. I love the shopping street, and slowly unlocking the buildings. I love that little bench at the end of the street looking out. I think the music in this game is so lovely too, and one of my most favourite things is walking around on a rainy day in my town. I also actually loved that it was always the opposite weather hemisphere-wise, often I'd log in in irl winter so I could feel warm and vice-versa.
I also just love the graphics and look and feel of the game. The characters are still sassy and have a lot of personality. I always think fondly of my neighbour O'Hare, because his birthday is two days after mine. Now I could wax rhapsodic about ACNL al day but I should move on!
I freely admit I did obsessively play AC Pocket Camp for like a year or two when it came out (maybe longer??) to fill the void while I waited to see if there would be a Switch game. My partner also got me the original GameCube Animal Crossing for Christmas, which I played a little, but we don't usually have the GameCube set up and see above my preference of handheld play for AC. Still, a very cute present that I love having.
The second they Switch was announced, I said that I would be holding off on buying one until I saw if they put out a new AC game with a console to match. And I am SO glad I did because I was able to get the console and the game when they came out and I think the console is sooooo pretty. ACNH is really fun as well, I do like the addition of terraforming, being able to place furniture outside, and that they went really ham on the graphics. While I think I still have more of a soft spot for the older graphic style, I love things like the raindrops on the windows and the furniture blowing as the fan goes over it, etc etc those little tiny additions really melt my heart. I do feel like they smoothed out the characters too much, they don't have as much personality as they used to. And as much as so many things are easier (changing clothes, furniture, moving trees and plants, catching all fish/bugs and fossils) I think I preferred it when it was a bit more challenging. I wish the Roost was separate still </3. I loved the addition of Island Designer, I find that so fun, and I love the glowing moss furniture, and being able to design villager's houses (given that sometimes they start to look really dogshit after I've been gifting them my garbage furniture sorry guys). I don't send letters as much in this game as I used to, idk why exactly it just never seemed as fun or important in ACNH. I like the addition of cooking, more just because it tickles me personally. I'm back and forth on the crafting mechanism. I think overall I like it, and in many ways it's a return to the challenging aspects I just went on about loving in the previous game in terms of it being an involved process (esp if you want to change the colours), but I think that tools breaking SO fast annoys me and that even gold tools break annoys me heaps. Overall I do still enjoy ACNH, and I'm actually glad that it introduced the game to a whole lot of new people because it's widened the audience of people I can ramble about AC to. I do wish I had gone with the other hemisphere weather, I went back and forth on that and I discovered I actually prefer it NOT aligning with my real life weather so it can serve as an escape.
Thank you for asking me this question, in case you can't tell I love talking about Animal Crossing it is definitely one of my favourite game series of all time <3

This isn’t proofread, and I’ve been sick since Saturday so this is purely self indulgent. I just hope it makes sense. Just headcanons because my brain is in a fog and I can’t get out of it. ;;

» Leviathan had been confused when you weren’t answering your D.D.D. when his new game came in— did you suddenly realize you were too good for him? Did you find someone better to spend your time with?!
» After grappling with the flood of negative thoughts, though, he goes to see you, hearing a muffled ‘come in’ from behind your door after he knocks
» He was surprised to find you curled up on your bed, sluggishly moving to sit up as he entered, bundled up in your comforter like a lil’ human burrito
» When you explain that you’re sick he feels a rush of relief (you don’t hate him!!) and worry all at the same time— humans are fragile! Are you going to come out of this?! Is it curable? Surely you need a doctor!
» After some coaxing (and a small coughing fit) you manage to explain to him that it’s nothing life threatening, just a cold and that you’d be fine after some rest and some medicine (courtesy of Solomon)
» Though unhappy you went to Solomon first, he does understand why (he also does acknowledge he’d have no clue what to give you as far as medicine went)
» He insists he’ll at least spend time with you, even when you explain that you’ll really just be sleeping a lot and that you don’t want to get him sick, too
» He almost relents, but a burst of envy has him a little more demanding. What if one of his brothers found you like this?! They’d never leave you alone! So how could he?
» So, in order to save you from his brothers’ antics he insists on you coming to his room— the safest place to hide out, as far as Levi is concerned. He insists he’ll be fine, he won’t catch some normie, human cold
» That’s how you found yourself watching Levi game from a comfortable mess of blankets and pillows propped up in his bathtub
» It was comfortable for both of you— you could rest when you needed without interruption, or watch him play his games when you were awake and converse if you felt well enough. Levi got to give you a safe place to recover, and the pleasure of your company
» It never mattered to Levi if you were both doing the same thing or not, he just loved having you around him, knowing you were opting to stay with him
» Since he’s always staying stocked up in his room he doesn’t have to leave very often, he’ll have whatever you could want or need at your fingertips— and he’ll even make trips out for you if you ask! That’s just how much you mean to him!
» Will absolutely melt if you use his lap as a pillow while he’s sitting on the floor playing on his consoles, especially if you fall asleep on him— how cute!!! MC!! That’s too cute!!
» Does take a few photos, but he’ll never show them to anyone, ever! He just can’t get over how much you trust him even if you’re in this weakened state
» Will never turn away your affections, even if you hesitate due to not wanting to pass this onto him— don’t move away! It’s okay! He swears if he gets sick it is what it is! But he won’t. (Lies)
» In the end he keeps you hydrated, entertained and well… very protected. No one bothered you while you were in his room. Only once and the threat of Lotan had Lucifer telling his brothers’ to leave MC to rest where you choose (and you chose HIS ROOM, so HA)
» He’ll absolutely cuddle up with you in his tub, either to sleep beside you or to have you lay on his chest while he plays something on his D.D.D. Or a handheld console. You’re a tangle of limbs, pillows and blankets but you wouldn’t change it for the world— especially how his tail curls around you and keeps you close
» When you do start to recover and have a bit more energy to spare Levi will be ecstatic to show you the new game he got!! Now that you can enjoy it, you can ride out the rest of your cold with him and this game he got for the two of you
» Be prepared though, despite his protests he’s absolutely getting sick
» And he has no idea how to handle human colds, so please pamper the boy and return the favour— he went out of his way for you!!
» In the end though, you both end up locked away for a solid week and a half until both of you were finally clear of any illness
» As much as getting sick sucked, Levi tells you the next time you get sick you should absolutely come right to him! His room can be your safe place
» Though when you go out next you’re dogpiled by his brothers who’ve been missing your attention (and were also worried!), so maybe go out in intervals next time…

Chapter 1: Only You in the Full Moon Night
Tumblr media
Fourteen months. That's how long we've been waiting. And in less than two minutes, Aof made it clear that our patience was absolutely going to be rewarded. The long take sequence that introduces us to the Moonlight Chicken Diner and the denizens thereof is probably one of the best openings I've seen in all of television. And as the episode went on, it became clearer and clearer that we are watching Aof evolve in real time. By the time you get to the closing shot of Jim and Wen framed in the doorway of the diner, under the 'moon' of that lantern, you've been on a journey and you're ready to go on another one. This episode is the most assured work we have ever seen from Aof. There was not a wasted moment, not an extraneous shot; every single frame of this episode was absolutely intentional. The characters are richly drawn and organically introduced, and every single actor is bringing their A-game, from stars to supporters to background.
Tumblr media
There are things I need to say about the sequence of Jim and Wen going from total strangers to hopping into bed together because my GOD. From the moment they locked eyes the energy was sizzling between them, and the conclusion was foregone: there was no way that night wasn't ending with those two in a sweaty tangle. And the way that was acted, with Jim becoming more playful and Wen becoming more seductive as the night went on; the way it was filmed, with the red and blue lighting and the handheld camera getting close up, putting the audience right into the moment; the sexual tension was palpable. By the time Wen bites Jim's ear, you almost want the release as much as they do. And I LOVE that they didn't kiss at all during their encounter, because that feels totally realistic. This isn't a love affair...yet.
Tumblr media
On the side of young love, Heart and Li Ming's first encounter is almost the opposite of Jim and Wen's, in that it's immediately antagonistic. As much as Jim and Wen almost instantly understand each other, Heart and Li Ming don't understand each other at all. And whereas Jim and Wen start close and get closer by episode's end, Heart and Li Ming start far apart and by the end of the episode they're even further apart. I was worried that with Fourth and Gemini's inexperience, their characters here would be too similar to their My School President characters, but I should have known to trust Aof when it comes to casting. Heart and Li Ming are NOT Tinn and Gun, and the work that Fourth and Gemini are putting in here so far is quite good, Fourth especially.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Setting the story against the backdrop of the pandemic-induced economic crisis grounds the narrative and the characters in a specificity that I have found to be a hallmark of the best stories. I've said this so much at this point, but I Told Sunset About You continues to impact the Thai media landscape, and especially the Thai queer media landscape in lots of positive ways, by encouraging more directors to bring the Thai sociopolitical environment and Thai cultural aesthetics into their work. Making Pattaya integral to the rhythms and aesthetics of this story in the same way that Phuket was integral to the rhythms and aesthetics of ITSAY is so key to making the show stand out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not having Alan appear in this episode at all, just having him represented by artefacts: the terse note, the phone charger, Gong relaying his 'unread' message, was incredibly effective. Alan and his relevance to Wen's life at this point is defined from the very first by his absence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saleng and Gaipa round out the cast of main characters we were introduced to in this episode, with only Praew (and Alan) left to appear onscreen. They don't get much this episode, but they make it count, with hints of the roles they'll play in the narrative peppered into their scenes. Saleng especially is an interesting one, as it seems like Jim acquired his employment along with the diner, which is an uncommon enough arrangement to be noteworthy. It also looks like everybody is aware of Gaipa's feelings for Jim, including Jim, which tells us a lot.
Tumblr media
All in all, this first episode gave us a lot, without feeling like a lot. It was so deftly done in the writing and direction, and so organic in the acting, that the overwhelming feeling is one of having spent an hour living a slice of real Pattaya life, not watching a fictional story. I'm so ready to spend 4 weeks living in this universe with these characters, and I'm already sad that I will have to leave them at the end.
Side Dishes
Mix Sahaphap is probably the sultriest actor in the GMMTV stable, and he's so perfect for this role because Wen is a walking, talking sex bomb and he knows it. The way he uses his eyes...lethal.
The actress playing Gaipa's mother, Narinthorn Na Bangchang, is playing such a perfect market vendor, it's reminding me of how similar we really are across the global south.
I can already feel Heart and Li Ming wrecking me and this only JUST started. Fourth and Gemini are really something special.
Mark Pakin is GMMTV's sixth man, he can come off the bench and play literally ANY kind of supporting character they need. That is MVP level shit.
This show looks SO GOOD, it sounds SO GOOD, production and direction teams put their foot in this one.
Watching Aof work handheld is a fucking DREAM. He's such a workmanlike director, he prefers to focus on pulling emotional truths out of his actors rather than high style photography. But his cast here being so good means he doesn't need to spend the majority of his directing energy on his actors, and he can experiment more with style. The opening sequence in the diner, and Jim and Wen's walk from the diner to the car, these are the kind of things he's never been able to focus on before, and now that he can it's SUCH a visual treat.

Tifa (OG) -- Rose
Tumblr media
I'm baaaaaaaaack!
Golly, I hadn't even displayed anything for awhile, now ^^;. I've been busy, yes. First time back to displaying after the hiatus! Here is another rose artwork featuring my favorite FF character Tifa Lockhart, in the original FFVII, of course ^^
So wondering why I am not active as much? I was doing another virtual career camp. And I've been dealing with mental health issues for a while. It lasted for days, and I am still trying to recover, but I hope this helps.
Some spoils as I am about to say, for those who hadn't played CC, so yeah, be aware of that lol
I beat Crisis Core Reunion last month just before starting FFVII OG. So I managed to get up to the Minerva optional boss, and holy crap I could not defeat her 0_0. I knew she was going to be hard to defeat 0_0. One of my biggest mistakes is not getting the Genji Shield (which is missable to me, and impossible because I only mastered one Octaslash, and I was not going to take FOREVER to master three more), and possibly not having enough materia to convert to SPs, which I was losing due to the SP materia things I used to prevent more damage. Hey, Ziedrich and SP Turbo or Mastered works! They say Costly Punch works, but it made it a lot worse for my SP and getting damage and die every time without getting a Phoenix Down on time (no offense). Aerial Drain and Jump are slower. Surprisingly (prepare for what it works on her), Darkness works on her. HP wa getting low, but I can be fast on healing, and so I beat her! I gave her multiple tries because I am afraid of how other battles in other FF will be, and I don't want to lose the chance on beating them (Jevil from Deltarune I gave up because he was impossible to defeat XP)
Anyways, so I finished Tifa today, and did I little experiment on coloring and made more designable rather than make my coloring more crappy lol. It's been awhile since drawing her in the OG, and I've been playing the OG for a bit, and so here she is! I started using the Crayola Colors of the World pencils to actually color something more divergent and shadowing her hair and skin. I did her eyes differently because I don't feel like drawing her eyes in my style the way I always draw eyes (I am bad at drawing eyes lol). I am actually really happy how this turned out to be ^^. I actually liked how this piece turned out! ❤️ I just love her, and her characteristics as well in the game (and film) <3. I am still writing my fanfic, just hadn't gotten around to it.
We are supposed to have a tropical storm, so I can get this displayed before potential power outage. There… probably isn't going to be much gaming, unless I can play my 3DS and switch handheld, or write (which I can write my fanfics are awhile if the interent isn't wonky, or so, idk), or read, or draw, or whatever the hell I'm doing. I might be on hiatus again after the storm due to potential outage, so this will be the post before the storm. At least we are prepared, tornadoes are the ones I am worried about, but I'm watching. Stay safe and have a good night!
For those who don't know, any rose portrait arts are inspired by a friend of mine on Deviantart (still)! Welp, good night, and sleep well!
