ThriftCraft Tips. An Incomplete List
In one of the Discord Servers I am a Guardian of, I posted a list of Thriftcraft techniques and some pointers/tips that had been brought up. The Question of the Week was discussing Thriftcraft tips and ideas. Here was my contribution that some people do not normally think about:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Charity Shops and Second Hand Shoppes are your best friend!!! Camden town, goodwill, etc. These are your best friends. So are the dollar stores.
Dollar stores nowadays will sell oil/wax burners. Wax cubes and oils. Incense. Incense sticks. Cheap swaths of cloth. Little stone collections. Shell collections. Etc. I can literally build an altar for 15 dollars at a dollar store.
Take a picture of your altars and your items that you have already. Know what you're "looking for". Write down the dimensions of the space you already have.
Bring a tape measure!
Remember that you can paint or embellish everything on your own! You can get plain things that are on sale.
Second Hand Stores are awesome but there are many antique shops that are actually cheaper than second hand stores. Look for "Antique Mall".
Antiques are fantastic because they sometimes come with Bonus People and Memories.
You can use old frames from Antique Stores!
A simple black mirror is "Gloss" Acrylic Paint. A dollar store picture frame. Paint the back side of the glass. Boom. Black Mirror. Works well too!
White Vinegar removes most dusty/musty aromas from items that were abandoned in someone's attic for a century.
You can buy cheap walmart or dollar store moss and hot glue it to random shit.
Every item you like, try to see what it looks like flipped upside down or if there's a way you can re-position something outside of its natural position.
Think outside of the box.

Thriftcraft™ Tip
If you want to re-purpose jars/containers with labels on them that leave a sticky residue; get a cotton pad and some nail polish remover! Sticky residue disappears with ease, make sure to rinse the jar/container after tho ♥  I reckon rubbing alcohol or similar products would work just as well c:

Ivy went to Goodwill and Dollar Tree today, and came back with a few really neat things!!!
“I gave myself a budget of $20 for the trip and I went a little over with a few personal purchases I didn’t show here, but overall I spent about $25 total. I got some really nice pieces for Witchy decor and some (hopefully) great books!!!”

Tonight I will interview my very first physical tarot deck, and hopefully find out how to best go about setting up my altar. I burned some lavender and sandalwood incense for clarity of mind and cleansing. The little chocolate tin contains my first clear quartz (could only buy one bottle of very tiny stones), matches, chalk, and color beads corresponding to the elements (hidden under the chalk).
To your health!

Today is the day!
I am up bright and early as the sun rises to finish getting materials together for my Coven’s Beltane ritual we are leading at the Unitarian Church in Orlando today!
I am also working on some spellwork for myself and my bff so today is a busy day on top of the LIVE BROADCAST AND LIVE Q&A WITH MYSELF AND ALAIR ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL!
Please come see us live, welcome back Alair from his needed hiatus and come ask us questions! It’s a chance to have a hellenic polytheist and a Celtic Wiccan Tradwitch together at the same time! How awesome!?!?!?

Vision Statement of the Academy
Acturian Academy was created to fulfil a growing need in the witchcraft community for an online community for individual witches to develop their craft. Witchcraft can be difficult for people to become involved in as a beginner at any age. Our vision, as a community of witches, is to remove those obstacles and provide a safe platform for the free exchange of magical knowledge.
We are not a religion-based school but aim to encourage spiritual growth in whatever form that takes for the individual. We hope that those who join the Academy walk away with the knowledge and resources to practice and personalize their own craft. Acturian Academy is so much more than a name- it is a badge of honour upon its students, witches young and old.
Belief Statement
We, the students and staff of Acturian Academy wish to create a growing, healthy, and dynamic educational space for those interested in or actively practising modern witchcraft. We believe a diverse community enriches spiritual development and encourages appreciation of all people, regardless of ability, age, culture, religious background, colour, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Interested in becoming a student? (click on the link)
Students must be 13+ years of age and have parental permission. This academy operates under the jurisdiction of United States law, which states that in order for a child to be taught anything regarding the concept of religion they must have parental consent. By checking the box on the application which states that you qualify under both of those conditions, you are stating that you take full responsibility that these are true statements.
We are currently in the middle of semester one! Semester two begins October 15th, with acceptances going out every Friday!
Interested in Mentoring for the Academy? (click on the link)
Qualifications: Prospective Mentors preferably have two or more years experience in their field of study, be 16 years of age or older, and must undergo training and pass with 80% or higher. Once a mentor has signed on with Acturian Academy, the contract being signed holds them to a standard of teaching which states that they must have a semester or more of their class ready before their class will be listed as available to take.

Elemental Candle DIY
All you need are
some base candles (I chose white because 2 reasons, I had them on hand, and conveniently, Magic to me is White in color)
A t-lite for a constant flame source,
 lighter
a metal spoon for melting large quantities of wax
I also used some old bits of colored candles, and crayons to make the colored wax blends you see on each.
I first melted a large amount of the main color and covered the top of the candle, then I used a dripping method to add the little wax runs down the side. If I had had enough materials, I would have chosen to dip each candle in the chosen source color, but I didn’t so this is what I came up with :) Enjoy!
