Cozy Christmas Scene
On Ao3 | Word count: 200
The children laugh and run around, playing with their new toys and games, chasing the dog around the room. Their grandfather, the one who made many of the toys, sleeps in the armchair by the fireplace, his cup of tea long run cold. Adam sits contentedly on the sofa, a mug of hot chocolate warm between his hands. He’s smiling, heart glowing as he watches his children’s excitement over new books to read and puzzles to solve.
Belle is crouched down by the children, showing them how things work, grinning in adoration as they show her their favorite parts. The dog sniffs everything, nosing her way into every open box. Belle scratches behind the hound’s ears as she listens to the children. Soon she rises, meeting her husband’s eyes. Silently, he beckons her to join his side, and she gladly accepts.
Belle walks over and falls into place, sitting beside Adam, bending her legs up and snuggling into him. His arm wraps around her, and she feels a kiss on her head. They both sigh peacefully as love swirls throughout the room, the same way snow flurries swirl around their home outside, setting the scene for yet another wonderful Christmas.
