Something Doctor Who misses out on is how none of the companions are extremely interested with any one thing. All the companions are all “idk, I have a few ideas of stuff that’d be cool to see, but I’m up for whatever! All of space and time, woohoo! :)”
And that’s great for them and I know it makes for a better show overall but I think it would be more realistic for someone to say “I want to see every historically significant moment for my special interest, and then I want to double back for mundane bits too.”
I, for example, would be an insufferable companion.
I’d be like, “okay now take me to the place and time where they first used stirrups for the whole ride instead of just using them as a foothold to mount the horse. Then I want to watch Ray Hunt put a first ride on a colt. After that we’ll take a nap, and then let’s sneak onto set of the Return of the King to be extras in the Ride of the Rohirrim”
The Doctor would be all “please. This is the twentieth horse-centric stop in a row. We have all of space available to us. Can we leave Earth this time I’m begging you”
And my annoying ass would go “not unless there’s horses in space” roll credits

They know absolutely nothing about Shazam. Children understand this and use it perfectly.
Lightning (Darla): I'll tell Mom everything!!
Switch (Eugene): Which one? They're all dead!
Flash: *chokes on air*
Ms. Marvel: You tried to kill me in the womb!
Captain Marvel: Don't be dramatic, I helped you come into existence earlier.
Ms. Marvel: You wrapped your umbilical cord around my neck!
Captain: Until it's proven, don't care what they say!
Nightwing: I have so many questions right now.
Red Hood: I would have done the same to you if we were in the same womb.
Voltage (Freddy): They kept bringing me down to the ground even though they knew it would kill me.
Superman: What do you mean?
Voltage: Why do you think I keep flying? It's my curse. Whenever I touch the ground, I die. My dad wasn't very fond of me when I was a kid.
Superman: That's terrible.
Thunder (Pedro): *appears behind Voltage and pulls him to the ground*
Voltage: *his feet touch the floor and he falls to the floor*
Superman: *grabs his head and can't hear his heartbeat* OH MY RAO! WHY DID YOU DO THIS?!?!
Thunder: *raises Voltage* That's hilarious.
Voltage: *looks up with huge eyes*
Voltage: See what I meant?! They hate me!
Thunder: You threw Captain Marvel into a volcano the day before yesterday.
Voltage: Little things, little things.
Lightning: *sits on unicorn* It's time to pay for all your sins!
Captain Marvel: I didn't eat your fairies!
Hal: WHAT THE HELL IS A FUCKING UNICORN IN THE WATCHTOWER!!
Thunder: *calmly eats raw entrails*
All Around: *sounds of disgust and nausea*
Switch: ...and that way we can take over the villain's lair.
Batman: Are you really planning on going into a highly guarded lair in an iron horse?
Switch: It worked in Troy. Besides, it wasn't God who threw that apple, it was Ms. Marvel.
Batman: What?
Switch: *shrugs* She was very self-conscious about her acne.
Captain Marvel: *holding a long iron spear* Have you seen Voltage?
Superman: Why do you need him?
Captain: He killed my favorite sheep. And I'll make a kebab out of him.

SO
I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE NEW DELTARUNE CHAPTERS OR I WILL EXPLODE
I wanna primarily talk about my take on the knight’s identity, but I’ll sprinkle a few other thoughts of mine in if I can, cause HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Anyway
MASSIVE spoilers for Deltarune chapters 3 & 4.
DO NOT CLICK READ MORE IF YOU DO NOT WANNA GET SPOILED!!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
So
To me, it’s down to Dess & Carol Holiday.
Like
Look at this design.
Tumblr media
Those are DEFINITELY antlers.
Toby knows his audience.
He’s poked fun of it in the game before (ie the theorist rant about Mike)
To me, he wouldn’t just include a design detail like that & NOT expect us all to think about the Holiday’s
So either he intentionally made them look like horns
Or it’s a red herring
& I highly doubt it’s the latter.
I DO think there’s a potential red herring, but it’s not in the knight’s design.
SPEAKING OF TOBY KNOWING HIS AUDIENCE & LIKELY HAVING THESE SPRITES HAVE SPECIFIC DETAILS
THOSE HAND HOLES ARE NOT A COINCIDENCE, & I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL!!
However, I don’t think it’s as mind blowing as it may seem at first.
Most of the fandom already agrees that Gaster has SOMETHING to do with the plot of Deltarune.
The hand holes don’t feel like something that indicates that Gaster is the knight.
Instead, it feels like it merely connects the knight TO Gaster.
Either the knight serves the former scientist (since there is no knight without a leader they follow)
OR
They BOTH are of equal power, people who were once of the light now prisoners of the dark.
Whether they have the same goal is… not clear.
However, the very fact that we now have solid (even if unspoken & rather interpretive) confirmation that the knight and Gaster ARE related
Is a big deal
Even if we all kinda knew that already.
NOW
Back to the Holiday’s.
I actually played through chapter 3 & 4 myself without looking anything up beforehand.
Yes, I missed some things, but from what I DID see, I first came to the conclusion that Carol, Noelle’s mother, was the knight.
In chapter 4, Kris talks to someone on the phone.
Kris seems to be working with someone who wants the dark worlds to spread & grow, hence why they stop the player from reading the bunker code written inside Dess’ guitar (keep that last fact in mind).
We don’t know for certain who this voice belongs to.
Is it the knight?
Gaster?
The same person Spamton spoke with back before his fall from fame?
It all seemed ambiguous
Until this happened.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kris tells the person on the phone that they failed to stop Susie from getting the guitar.
The person then says they’ll be “right there…”
Which leads to
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You cannot tell me with a straight face that this is a coincidence.
Noelle KNOWS her mom’s work hours.
Why would Carol suddenly come home so early?
If Carol was not the one on the phone, then someone or something HAD to come over to Noelle’s.
The voice specifically says “I’ll be right there.”
Not “I’ll stop her”
Or “I’ll send someone.”
“I’ll be right there.”
Carol is the ONLY person who arrives at the house before Susie’s kicked out & Kris follows her.
Not to mention
Like
Tumblr media
Toby didn’t highlight “you” in RED merely to create emphasis.
He rarely does that.
We see him highlight stuff in YELLOW in this chapter, sure
But the only other thing he’s highlighted in red (from my recollection) was when Noelle talked about listening in for the presumed “mouse” while she & Susie wait in Dess’ room
& the red text hinted for you to make noise.
Considering that hint was for YOU & not KRIS (since you’re separated from Kris during this scene)
Me thinks it legitimately means something
& wasn’t just Toby deciding to be a lil funny & switch up his text colors for kicks (even if that WOULD be hilarious…)
THE POINT IS
I highly doubt Carol’s talking to Kris in the above scene, or at least, not JUST Kris.
I think she’s talking to the player.
The “you.”
We know from chapter 2’s Snowgrave route (specifically when you are about to defeat Spamton) that “you” refers to the player, not Kris.
Carol’s line here feels intentional.
ANOTHER INTERESTING THING
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This COULD be seen as like
A metaphorical thing
(ie to show how “cold” Carol is toward others)
But considering Noelle’s whole thing in chapter 2
& the background ambiance when she arrives
& how Susie comments on FEELING the ACTUAL temperature drop…
It just feels
Too odd to be purely metaphorical.
Do I think this confirms she is the knight?
No.
To me, it merely shows that Carol is a PART of whatever this whole thing is.
Carol COULD be the knight
But to me, it doesn’t feel as thematically fitting as Dess being the knight.
Cause like
Dess is MISSING.
We don’t know HOW she went missing.
No one hasn’t seen her in quite a long time.
It makes sense that Dess, either willingly or forcefully, became the knight.
& when I say “became”
I mean like
MORPHED into it.
She IS the knight.
It is no suit of armor she can take off.
It is no dark world form she can shed if she were to enter the light world (assuming she ever could).
She IS the knight, & the knight is HER.
She is forever warped by a past event we have yet to see.
Plus
Carol feels like she has a few intentional red herrings that would make fans point to HER as the knight
Mainly the kitchen katana that she apparently uses to cut fruitcake with.
THAT feels like a straightforward red herring
Cause it’s TOO obvious.
Besides
The knight doesn’t wield a katana.
If Carol were the knight, I feel like the knight’s sword would be a lot more elegant looking, more katana-like.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see Carol KNOW about her eldest daughter’s fate & actively be working with her.
Also WHY IS THERE A NOTE IN DESS’ GUITAR??
Who put that there?
WHEN did they put that there?
I doubt it was Carol. That feels like a weird place to put a code. She feels like the character to have the code on HER at all times.
The code was likely from Dess herself.
Why was it put there?
To remind Dess how to open it (likely causing her to explore the shelter & later go “missing)?
Or perhaps
Somehow
It was written after her disappearance
As a quiet call for help
For SOMEONE to open the bunker & end the nightmare.
Carol could still know about the code without being the one to write it.
If Kris can spot the note so easily after only looking through the guitar ONCE
We can wager that Dess’ MOTHER, who LIVES in that house, likely found out about it at some point, ESPECIALLY if she truly is a part of the madness somehow.
Assuming this is all true, I wonder if Carol never plucked the note out because doing that would require breaking the guitar in some way, & she does not have the heart to do it.
That idea’s more headcanon-y than anything
Cause I’d just love to have a scene like that play out
Where she mumbled to herself about just getting rid of the damn note
But can’t without hurting the strings
Showing that she DOES still care. She DOES have humanity.
It’s just buried in the freezing cold.
… so while this seems like a good ending spot
I wanna say one last thing.
Fellas.
F e l l a s.
The later chapters don’t HAVE to abide by a set formula.
I keep seeing people argue whether this or that was the secret boss
& I’m just like
Fellas
It doesn’t have to match chapter 1 & 2’s format.
Hell, chapter 2 diverted from chapter 1’s format by making IT’s secret boss someone you encounter in game no matter how you play, a stark contrast from Jevil, who you can play the entire game without ever seeing a LICK of dialogue about him.
I think, out of everything, we shouldn’t worry about “who the secret boss is.”
No.
We should be more concerned about the shadow crystals & where they end up.
Cause APPARENTLY
DEFEATING THE KNIGHT IN CHAPTER 3 LEADS TO SUSIE CHIPPING OFF A PIECE OF THEIR SWORD
& WHEN YOU GO TO PICK UP THE SHARD
YOU ADDITIONALLY GET A SHADOW CRYSTAL!!
At first, I assumed the shadow crystal came FROM the sword, but that may not be entirely right.
Even still, I think the crystals either come FROM the knight
Or the knight & the crystals come from the same place.
Now, how specific characters get a hold of it
Is… up in the air.
We see Gerson hand one to Susie in chapter 4.
He tells her that someone likely wanted him to use it, but he didn’t find it interesting, so he never really did anything with it.
Perhaps someone (the knight, Carol, Gaster, who knows) is giving certain Darkeners shadow crystals for some unknown reason.
Whatever the reason is, considering the bosses to get these shadow crystals all tie to EXTREMELY hard boss fights, it’s likely a source of power the corrupts the user, just as it did with Jevil & Spamton.
So
By that logic
I suppose the knight IS the secret boss
But more so that the secret to the boss is that it’s winnable
Which feels
Very hilarious & overall Toby-ish to me, not gonna lie. IWNWODMWOCKSOMXOSMXODCM
But uh
Seriously.
We gotta look at how these bosses connect on a far less shallow level. We can’t be too occupied with interpretive patterns in the chapters’ varying story beats
Cause those story beats aren’t always gonna be repeated.
After all, repeating story beats make the rest of the potential chapters predictable
& I doubt Toby’s gonna be doing that…
Anyway uh
That’s all for now.
Ya know
Aside from how we finally got concrete confirmation that monsters bleed (so the whole “when you kill sans, you cut through some ketchup he had hidden away to make it look like blood” debate no longer matters)
Ralsai directly addressing how there MUST be another ending to their story (& suggesting that Toby’s “one ending” claim may be tied to the prophecy specifically)
Dead monsters having the capacity to be “revived” in the dark world, even if we can never be sure if it’s really “them”
THE FUCKING SNOWGRAVE CONTINUATION SCENE IN CHAPTER 4
LIKE HOLY SHIT
But that last one’s for another time
… probably.
For now, imma just
Close off my ramblings here before I spend another 2 hours of my day talking about how these two chapters absolutely DESTROYED my brain.

The Dragons:
When dragons arrived to the continent where the main story happens, a great crisis ensued. At that time, the continent was mostly under either direct control or in the sphere of influence of the Sun Empire (provisional and generic name). This empire rules over many ethnicities, religions and cultures in a tense peace held together with complex and pretty ineficient burocracy.
The first effort to kill a dragon made by the empire was a great failure rooted in miscomunication. A dragon landed near one of the northernmost frontier fortresses of the empire and made it's nest inside of the central tower.
Since comunication with this fortress was cut off and the empire had not yet noticed the dragons, it was asumed that the fortress had been invaded. A platoon of soldiers arrived to retake the fortress, hoping to find an invading tribe inside of it, unable to hold a siege.
What they found was a massive dragon mother that had just layed eggs and was very territorial and so the whole platoon of heavy infantry was killed.
News from the dragons kept coming to the capital, myth mixed with reality about how they ate cattle, people and even ships.
Platoon after platoon of imperial soldiers were sent to manage the dragons but they were either unable to track them or all killed uppon contact.
Many rural societies collapsed, and only those that could hide inside city walls were safe.
Soldiers sent to face the dragons usually deserted, and it was clear that the Empire didn't have the necessary tools to face the dragons.
Out of desperation, the empire offered an unusual reward: They would give away land and titles to whoever killed the dragons.
The dragon hunters ended up being the nomadic tribes of the northern steppe of the continent.
They used to live a life of herding, hunting megafauna and raiding southern settlements and were a constant nuisance to the empire.
Many times these tribal confederation tried to conquer the more fertile lands of the empire but were unable to hold any taken territories wich were quickly reconquered by the Empire.
Their territory was greatly affected by dragons and basically became their homeland. Dragons lived in the steppes hunting megafauna and seasonally came to the south to raid cattle.
Tumblr media
The slaying of a young dragon.
These tribes were very used to hunting megafauna and knew very well how to track an animal like a dragon and live off the land while they chased it.
They were also very motivated to get the reward and finally hold land and also getting rid of the dragon. These dragon unting groups were usually familial units with a very intuituve and respected hirearchy.
As they killed dragons the balance between these beasts and humans shifted. The hunters became more and more specialized and powerful after claiming the rewards. On the other hands, killing the dragons reduced intraspecies competition so the surviving dragons became very big, smart and weary of humans.
This is how one of these late specialiced hunts would go.
A very large group of hunter would be needed, about 12 hunters per se plus their replacements and squires. Also, a large but mobile caravan. Scouting groups would be ahead while the rest of the caravan follows them at a distance and gathers food and such.
The main strategy is to tire out the dragon until it can't fly off anymore and then try to kill it on the ground.
Here are some specialized types of hunters.
Tumblr media
On the left: A grappling lancer. They use these lances with a frail tip, meant to break off after penetrating the skin of the dragon and remain inside the wound. The metalic tip is tied to a strong rope with a net or hooks at the end of it. The hooks are ment to get tangled to the rest of the body, branches or the ground. This way, if the dragon tries to run away, fly off or simply move, it would pull from the wound and be very painful and disorienting. A single one is not going to immobilize the dragon but 10 or 15 might.
On the centre: A blunt unit. These are meant to strike the wings of the dragon with a long mace to break their bones and also carry a blade to lacerate the wing membrane. Since they come very close to the dragon, they are very well covered against its acid.
On the right: A shocker. Their pourpose is to distract the dragon and overwhelm it. Their horse is decorated with bells and colorful feathers. They play horns and wistles and carry hand cannons. (I will talk about the technology of the world in another post) The cannons would be preloaded and they would shoot all of them as quickly as posible, aiming to the eyes or neck. These would not kill the dragon, but they would be painful, bright and noisy. This unit plays a semi-religious role and have the riskiest position since the other ones attack and retreat to prepare for the next attack while the shocker always stays closer to the dragon. They sometimes attack semi or fully nacked since they embrace the danger and death during the hunt is considered very noble.
Archers would also be present but I didn't draw them.
The fatal blow is done with a strong lance and usually reserved to the tribe chieftan.
The religion of these nomadic tribes is polytheistic but the tribes that specialized in hunting dragons shifted to prioritizing their godess of the hunt.
Tumblr media
When a dragon is hunted it's skull must be given to imperial officials to prove it was hunted and so that it can be measured since the reward depends on the size and age of the dragon. Carrying the skull back to civilisation is sometimes more dangerous than hunting the dragon since many people would want to steal it.
Once these tribes settled into castles, the dragon skulls are kept in shrines, next to the skulls of those that hunted it. This is because in their religion, they believe thet the beasts their ancestors hunter would guard them in the afterlife. This is also meant to show off the power of these clans.
In the image we can see a dragon skull being used as a shrine for a sacrifice meant to bless a future hunt. On the left there is a statue of the godess of hunt and abundance and on the foreground a simple protective bear statue.
In conclusion, after about a century since they first arrived dragons became extinct and power in the continent shifted fro the centralized power of the emperor to local dragon slaying feudal nobility that coexist with the emperor in a strange balance where the nobles hold most of the military and agricultural power while the lands of the emperor legitimize the noble's power and also dominate in trade and religion.
If you read this all the way thank you and sorry for the chaotic writting. I hope you enjoyed these and ideas and questions are eagerly welcome.

Monster (or not?)
It was a normal day for the Justice League, nothing special had happened, but Batman seemed to have a bad feeling. So when the alarm went off, he was prepared for almost anything.
Unfortunately, not much can prepare you for a 10-foot ice-covered, invincible Eldritch in the middle of Gotham. As much as the League tried, they didn't seem to do any damage to it (Jason was the first to notice that the creature wasn't attacking, just defending itself; he frowned at the observation).
From there, many strange things began to happen. First: A group of people dressed in white (which, frankly, they had never seen before in their lives) fanned out around the League, giving them weapons capable of harming the "creature" and pointing out to them that it was a "ghost", giving information about it.
Second, a pair of colorful scientists stood at the center of all the agents in white, though they seemed to be arguing with each other. One looked murderous, while the other looked... tired, almost guilty.
Third and last, a group of students kept trying to get closer. Jason thought they were suicidal until he heard the girl in purple tell them to leave "Danny" alone. She seemed to be silenced quickly, but the detail stuck in his head.
With a bad feeling, Jason turned to the college kids. A red-haired girl stood in the center of them, holding a chunk of ice? and watching the creature at the center of it all. While the League dealt with the agents in white, Jason decided to listen to them.
"He's my brother," the redhead said as soon as she saw him, "he's not a monster, they broke his core, please, you need to understand"
Jason looked at the creature again, although its body was mostly black, he could see ice covering a crystal in the center, it looked broken, he suspected that was his "core". At the same moment, Bruce finished talking to the men in white and accepted the weapons.
Danny was frightened and panicked. His form changed when his core broke in the middle of a fight, the GIW had shot him, and he didn't know how to retreat to his original form. His words came out only in Ghost speak, and the heroes around him looked ready to kill him, which didn't help his ice control.

Two Wardi 'unicorns', the hippegalga and the scimitar deer. These are distantly related ungulates who both happen to produce a single horn
The hippegalga is a tiny antelope, about the size of a hare. It has a very broad range and can be found across the region and beyond, settling mostly in shrubland, savannah, and wooded areas. Unlike other closely related species (these are basically dik-diks and exist elsewhere in the setting) they form large, loosely structured herds and breed rapidly, commonly producing four offspring at a time.
The horn is a permanent growth, and occurs directly in the center of the skull. It develops in both males and females (though is much smaller in the latter) and serves some practical function in scratching at bark to mark territory (in addition to scent deposits- rubbed directly into scratched bark from the eye gland, and left as piles of dung).
Their horn is worn as an amulet in many parts of the region (either intact or carved into a phallic shape) due to having strong associations with male fertility, as well as apotropaic functions more broadly associated with imagery of genitalia. One Wardi slang word for the penis is derived from this animal's name ('galga').
They experience hunting pressure for their horns, and their meat is regarded as a delicacy, but most populations are stable. They adapt well to densely populated and developed areas, breeding prolifically in ecosystems depleted of predators. A large, stable population exists in the city of Wardin. These particular animals are semi-tame and frequently fed by humans, and are socially protected from hunting (believed to be living good luck charms and just SO charismatic and cute). Their only real day-to-day threats are the city's (much less beloved) population of feral dogs.
---
The scimitar deer is the only native deer to the region, and exist in two major, isolated populations (remnants of a wider population from when woodland and savannah spanned across most of the region's north). One population exists in the wooded regions of Greathill in the northwest, and a larger population in the oak forests to the northeast (and beyond).
Their singular antler is shed seasonally and grows bigger, longer, and more curled with age. The antler grows asymmetrically on one side of the head (usually the left), though this is only slightly off-center on the skull and does not significantly impede balance (outside of old bucks with very large antlers). Some bucks grow a set of two antlers as a mutation (with one side being substantially smaller than the other) but this appears to be unattractive to females and such animals breed at a decreased frequency.
Bucks in rut may clash antlers by interlocking them at the fork, but these battles are low intensity- their antlers are relatively fragile and not well suited to prolonged shoving matches. The antler is a visual display first and foremost. A buck will show off to does and intimidate rivals by tossing and bowing his head at an angle to display its size and length.
In Greathill, traditions widely hold that these animals are supernatural in nature and herded like cattle by the mountain's 'wildman' fae-folk. They often appear in folktales as prized, magical herds, with stories centering on great raids of the deer as the ultimate and most valuable livestock (being immune to disease, able to be milked like cattle, ridden like khait, and capable of plowing fields with great speed).
