Tales Of Crystals

Hey in the early 90s Hasbro put out a tabletop roleplaying larp for tween girls called Tales Of The Crystals, and there's a lot going on here, so I want to talk about it.

First, I want to give credit to @riseupcomus on twitter for doing a thread on it first. Riseup's thread is linked at the bottom, right after hasbro's pdf of Tales Of Crystals.

Now, what is Tales Of Crystals? Well, it's a journaling game. And it's an indie TTRPG. And it's a larp kit. And it's an audio game. And it's a cryptography kit.

It comes with its own map, rulebook, a cassette tape with multiple scenarios, a non-dice-based resolution system, four player roles, and a ruleset that's split up so that each of the four players is in charge of a different part.

If feels like a high concept, big swing indie title from 2024, but it's got thirty years worth of jump on the modern scene.

The basic premise is that the players are crystal bearers in the court of a fantasy kingdom, and there's an evil nation in the goblin swamp next door, and they have to guard the nation against treachery and ensorcellment and whatnot. It's not super duper fresh, but with how many things the game is juggling it's extremely reasonable that the plot's a little plain.

Each player's crystal comes with a power, and the powers are asymmetrical. The Leader gets the Crystal Of Shimmering Ice, which lets you oneshot enemies (nonlethally, by freezing them for a minute.) The Protector gets the Crystal Of True Sight, and can see through all lies and enchantments and mind control enemies for a minute (tbh this one is just better). There's a healing crystal and an invisibility crystal as well---and interestingly the invisibility crystal is given to the role responsible for journaling everybody's adventures. The game recognizes that at least one player of a fantasy larp for tween girls in the 90s is probably going to be a wallflower writer, and deliberately enshrines that role.

Tales Of Crystals has a solid core loop, with a deck of cards for prompts and a cassette tape for scenarios and a little circle with YES and NO marked on it that you can scatter your gems onto to get oracle answers to questions during play. It also has a LOT of gimmicks.

There's a tube of powder you can sprinkle on things to disenchant them. There's a mirror you need to read script that's been written backwards. There's three cryptographic cyphers at the back of the book. There's a box specifically for confining the evil Spider Crystal (after you've sprinkled it with powder to neutralize it.) This is a game of dozens of components, and it's a miracle the design is so tight that they all loop together so well.

Now, I don't have sales data (riseup might,) but I suspect maybe this thing didn't sell amazingly. It requires you to set up six or so distinct locations around your yard, pretty much needs a group of exactly four friends to play it, requires you to give clue elements to your parents---you'd have to be cool with it, your friends would have to be cool with it, your parents would have to be cool with it, and you'd have to have a big suburban yard in order to get a proper intended game experience. That said, its larp design is really stable, its gameplay is carefully thought out, and it includes a section at the start to encourage you to play safely and a section at the end to talk about your game together, journal your experiences, and to clean up the game components as a group when you're done.

This is good tech! And it even specifically recommends having a snack and relaxing afterward.

Tales Of Crystals doesn't use terms like bleed and session zero, but it's a good ways ahead of the curve on larp and ttrpg safety.

I didn't find the designer's name (they're listed as uncredit on BoardGameGeek, not mentioned in the PDF, and missing from the wiki page,) but they knocked this one out of the park. There's stuff in here that modern indie ttrpg designers could learn from---myself very much included.

I'm thrilled this thing exists, and I hope more designers get to look at it.

Tarot Notes & Musings Part 3: Advice for Picking Cartomancy Decks

Hi! This is just a list of recommendations and advice for choosing cartomancy decks. This isn't an exhaustive list, but most of it has come from my personal trial and error in finding decks for cartomancy so I hope it helps!

🕯 The first thing you need to figure out is what you're in the market for. Specifically, what purposes are you wanting to use the cards for? A lot of oracle decks are designed around specific themes/topics so you can really find a variety of decks that can mesh well with whatever you're wanting to do. A lot of tarot decks have theming as well, so get whatever is going to work best for you. There are all sorts of decks with specific topics/purposes in design, so if you want a specific vibe/focus for a deck there's probably at least one option if not several out there. If you're going for a general use or learner tarot deck, the Thoth and Rider-Waite tarot decks are both safe bets (you can also make your own with images online with those). It would also be a good idea to set a budget range for what you're willing to spend on a deck at this point as well.

🕯 Figure out the skill level of the deck and if it will be readable for you. There's going to be a learning curve with any new deck, but the deck's art should be something you can be able to sight-read fairly quickly if you already know how to read tarot (this is especially true for tarot decks of the same type. IE if you're familiar with the Rider-Waite deck format don't get a Rider-Waite style deck with visuals you can't identify quickly). If you can find sample pictures of the cards or a flip-through online your decision for this will be a lot more accurate.

🔮For example, my 3 tarot decks are all use the Rider-Waite format. My Rider-Waite deck, my Shadowscapes deck, and my Nature Spirits all have the same cards and the same card can be identified easily within all three decks even though the art styles are different. An example of a deck I personally would not get is the Tarot of The Haunted House for myself because I honestly don't think I'd be able to read it easily (it's a beautiful Rider-Waite style deck though).

🕯 In my opinion, deck art is Important. For a variety of reasons, whatever tools you're using for your practice should be tools you mesh well with. Don't get decks with art you don't love (or at least like). Readability should be kept in mind too, but in my experience not only are you're going to work best with tools you're happy to have- you're also going to want to work with those tools more often. If you don't vibe with the deck art don't get the deck.

🔮The visual seeds/card art are also typically going to lead you on how to interpret cards. While card definitions within formats stay generally the same (the King of Pentacles/it's equivalent is going to stay the King of Pentacles deck-to-deck) I find decks tend to lean towards one interpretation of their meanings over others.

🔮For example, there are some decks that are off-putting to me or that I find are just severely not to my taste. That doesn't mean that they're bad decks, but that does mean I'm not going to get them.

🔮I've found that a lot of people definitely seem to have trends in what their art/style/theme preferences are for decks, and once you get a feel for what you like deck selection for art and themes gets a lot easier. Personally a lot of my decks relate with other parts of my practice that I've picked up and their themes tend to lean towards how my practice operates

🕯 At this point practical things are going to come into consideration. After scoping out a few decks you might be into, look for deck reviews and flip-throughs so you can get a good idea of how all the cards look and how the deck performs (YouTube is actually a pretty decent source for deck reviews). A lot of longer deck reviews/discussions will also talk about how it feels to work with the deck, which give you some insight about whether the deck will be compatible with you. Some good ways to practically evaluate a deck are:

What is the card stock quality? How large are the cards and what shape are they? Are the cards easy to shuffle and durable?

Does all the art stand up to my preferences?

Is the guidebook (very important for oracle decks) easy to understand and good at explaining the cards?

Shuffle-ability and durability are important generally since you want your deck to be able to stand up well with wear-and-tear from regular use. Deck guides, and their quality, are incredibly important for oracle decks or cartomancy decks that are designed with only one guide. If you get a Thoth or Rider-Waite tarot, a variety of detailed guides will be pretty easy to find in print books or online. HOWEVER, if you get a deck that only has one guide then that's really only thing you're going to have to work off of as you're learning the deck.

🔮These criteria are on a spectrum and you're going to prioritize them to you want and need. In my experience (and I have 2 of their decks) Lo Scarabeo decks tend to have lovely art and decent card quality, but the guides are small and often too brief and difficult to understand to be really useful (think the little white booklets you get with tarot decks in that they're not nothing but also not super helpful). Meanwhile the Faerie's Oracle has not-fantastic cardstock quality but very interactive cards and the guidebook is really top notch (hardcover and quite in-depth, I also believe there may be a facebook group for discussing working with the deck). Kim Krans' Wild Unknown cards fall somewhere in the middle with (imo) decent guidebooks and serviceable cardstock.

It’s possible and you and Sunghoon would withhold some secrets (as any person always does) and the moment of mutual revelation is the one where Sunghoon falls completely for you. You might find out that you have much more in common than you previously thought. That your lives mirrored to a certain degree in some aspects. This was the card at the bottom of the deck, it was reversed, and in this deck reversals indicate a protection message or a caution. So I thought of including this too.

You're not ready to move forward at this time, and that has to be okay. Be poised in the face of demands and deadlines. Pretending you know what you're doing works sometimes, but if you adopt a "fake it till you make it" attitude, it will land you in some muck now. This is not the time to wing it and deliver something half-finished. It's okay to postpone things until you are really ready. It's better to disappoint others now than to wish you had later.

You will know exactly what these cards are trying to tell you, so I won't interpret or try to give meaning to these myself.

"Mermaids Oracle Deck and Guidebook: Wisdom, Insight, and Enlightenment from the Legendary Creatures of the Sea" by Melissa Maxwell and Paula Zorite

Recently, I had received this oracle deck. It is based on the a many folklore and mythology of waterpeople and their wisdom or finsights.

Note that cartomancy is different for everyone and may only be used as reflection for topics that are not too sea-rious. For anything that requires actual help from knowledgeable people, such cards cannot be a substitute for that at all. I had already detailed this in a previous entry on the "Mermaid's Purse Oracle".

I have quite many of such aquatic cartomancy decks and I think this one is my favorite so far. It shares so much fin-formation and knowledge that can be fished out of the folklore surrounding waterpeople. This deck is shrimp-ilar in the tides of some literature that reflect the wisdom of folkloric waterfolk such as "Mermaid Wisdom" by Brenda Rosen or "A Mermaid's Tale" by Amanda Adams. It is shell-tacular, for it even dives into lesser-known waterpeople like the Gurindji karukayn that many may not know of. The deck has such a wide sea of folklore from the global waters which is utterly amazing. Many other cartomancy decks also depict diverse waterfolk from the entire world, but this one bases it on the actual folklore and mythology of the people. It also covers some literary waterfolk like the Little Mermaid and I really appreciate that it is also detailed how it is literary and not necessarily traditionally folkloric. However, it even dives into the fin-sight of fabricated waterfolk like the Feejee Mermaid hoax which I adore. I am someone who likes to think a lot and the card which is shown is so fin-tastically depicted of how one should question and rethink some aspects in life. From what I know of now, it is one of my favorite cards in the deck! It depicts this wisdom in such an elegant tide. The artwork by Paula Zorite portrays the waterpeople so amazingly and accurately, I am awe-finspired!

Much knowledge is ascribed from them according to the folklore of the past, but some may be newer tides of fin-terpretation. I adore it, yet know that such may not represent the more "traditional" aspects of a waterperson. Still and all, folklore has always been changeable and adapted to more contemporary tides and that is how it survives in the first tide. The German nix has "Forgiveness" as his ascribed fin-sight, yet he can also be dangerous. What I do not very much appreciate is that it seems to reduce some symbolism only to one aspect meanwhile many waterpeople are multifaceted and cannot be reduced to one aspect. However, such wisdom is not fished from unclear waters at all. The wisdom is understandable and may aid one very well. One can always fin-terpret for oneself and encompass the other aspects of a waterperson that may not be listed in this oracle deck.

What I do not think I will get to understand may be why so much media surrounding waterfolk is only named after the mermaids. This deck tells of mermen and many others. I assume it may sometimes have to do with discoverability since mermaids are usually commonly regarded by the majority when thinking of waterpeople which is quite of an obvious observation. Sometime I shall expand my streams of thoughts of that topic here.

The only real critique I have is that this deck does not list any sources in the guidebook. Many claims are still accurate to my knowledge, but some are not such as the ancient Greek sirens who are described to be mermaids meanwhile that is only true much later in history. That same author also wrote "The Little Encyclopedia of Mermaids" which I had reviewed in an earlier entry and some sources listed in it fin-cluded Wikipedia, which is not the most reliable source in most tides, yet I still think that the author did re-sea-rch properly to an extent! This deck is the best cartomancy oracle surrounding the fin-sights in the mythology and folklore of waterfolk. The deck has a very prominent focus on the folkloric or mythological wisdom of waterfolk and that is why I adore it so much. Other decks like "Oracle of the Mermaids" by Lucy Cavendish dive into some folkloric aspects of waterpeople like so, yet not all too much, usually only for some cards. "Mermaids and Dolphins and Magical Creatures of the Sea" by Gillian Kemp has a primary focus on folkloric waterpeople, but mostly only European ones. That one does not cite any sources whatsoever and got some strange claims swimming in its text such as that the Inuit Sedna rides on a "golden chariot", which I have never read about before, yet overall that deck still has much value alongside.

Today is the 30th of March 2024

Be using  the zodiac Oracle deck.

For until the end of April 2024. I'll be using this deck and will be blogging every day with this zodiac oracle deck. I will be growing every day one card describing the image of what I feel from it, then I will be using the booklet and then seeing how close I get to it.

All right, today it's Pisces card number 12, all right I see a mermaid who has this split tail which represent two possible views from a Pisces the Faces looks like koi the colours are overlapping, each other and the view of it like it's moving representing the idea that believes are constantly changing and adapting to your point of views the Mermaid looks like she is trying to keep control of the balance, between our dreams and reality the background is blue with a sparkle of white even between with all the overlappings.

You believe in the possibility that you can understand yourself as well as the universe and you are constantly trying to find the moment where it's revealed or showing to you. When is your true desire or true road to Happiness you believe in the embodiment that everyone has a good or bad side and to understand that is to understand the motives behind their choices.

February 19th - March 20th.

The intuitive energy of water flows and flows and flows through the changeableness of the mutable qualities. There is creativity and psychic insights available, probably hidden in plain sight. The key phrase I believe means that you do believe that the answers are out there and that you, by paying attention as only you can, will find them. In this situation ask how can I tap into the compassionate heart of the universe? Listen and see what your heart. 

Pisces energy is very aware of the unseen current in the world, including the emotions of others. This can be overwhelming. Employ simple energetic protection techniques and avoid the destruction of escapism.

Damian overlooked the cemetery that he had been tasked with watching. Nothing was out of the ordinary as Halloween night headed toward the witching hour. Darkness covered the graves, new and old, like a comforting blanket with no signs of life to attest to the claims that Red Robin had found over the past couple of months. There was a terrible new drug that was making its way through the black market and back alleys of Gotham. A drug in the shape and style of a piece of hard candy wrapped up in an electric green wrapper. It went by many names but the one that Gotham seemed to settle on made it sound like something from a child’s fairytale.

Wish Candy.

The colors of the candy within the wrapper varied but it didn’t matter what color the candy was. Each one was mysteriously powerful. Because it worked with everyone. All the person had to do was eat the candy and make a wish… and it came true. Not big ones. People had tried reviving a dead family member or wishing to be rich but nothing like that happened. Instead, a diary popped up that was owned by the deceased that the living relative thought was lost forever. Getting to relive the memories of their family member again by reading it. As for the one who wished to be rich, the received a 1 lb version of a 100 grand chocolate bar. From then on, Gothamites learned to be more specific with their wishes.

The candy worked better with small wishes and Gotham had devolved into factional warfare to get their hands on the magical confection. No one knew who was distributing the candy. People either found them lying around or they somehow already had them in their homes. So gangs had taken to scouring the streets while rogues had their minions taking them from people who happened to find them. Things very quickly got out of hand and, as the months grew closer to Halloween, more and more candy was popping up throughout the city.

With a three-day binge of no sleep and constant camera watching with Oracle, Red Robin had finally found the pattern. A camera would suddenly explode into static. Once the camera was operational, the candy was in the camera’s sight or somewhere nearby. Every single time it happened, the candy was found in a place that the locals would call haunted or in a cemetery. This was further proven when it became all hands on deck and everyone in the bat family began to search every available abandoned building or haunt. The amount of candy they found was insane. It was good that they got it off the streets but more popped up just as quickly as they found it.

Gotham was in a terrible state. Crime had drastically increased from people fighting and even going so far as trying to kill for this magical candy. To people who were using it to get things that they otherwise wouldn’t have. Now, just like the twist with the big wishes, the small wishes were twisted as well. When someone wished for a thousand dollars, they got it but then they ended up tripping on their way home and it was blown away with the wind when they fell. No one was able to get out unscathed but that didn’t stop people from trying anyway. As the Halloween festivities went into full swing, everything just got even worse.

Kids, who were trick-or-treating, were being attacked by people trying to find this mythical candy while others were using it to do more nefarious crimes in the background. Robin, Red Robin, Black Bat, and Oracle had been tasked in trying to find the one behind the candy distribution while Batman, Nightwing, Batwoman, Spoiler, and Signal were trying to keep Gotham from being torn apart by the seams. It didn’t help that there was a feeling that something big was coming. Setting all of the vigilantes on edge.

Robin frowned as his eyes swept over the small cemetery one last time. There had been no signs of life the entire half hour he had been here and he was gearing up to head to the next possible location when he felt it. A feeling of death fell heavily upon the area. It rippled out and spread like a water droplet landing in a puddle. The waves grew as the ripples increased in frequency. “Red Robin, Black Bat, Oracle, I think I may have something,” Robin spoke over his comms only to receive nothing in response. He frowned and pressed his comm on and off again to see if that helped. “Red Robin, Black Bat, Oracle? Can you hear me?” Once again, there was no response and he looked to the cemetery. Whatever was going on was messing with his communications. There was a good chance that the video of his mask was corrupted as well if this really was like what happened to the other cameras before the candy appeared.

Fighting against his heightened instincts that just wanted him to run away, Robin dropped down from the tree he was using to overlook the entire cemetery and made his way over to where the ripple was originating from. He kept a fair distance as he crouched behind a headstone to remain out of sight, pulling out a couple of birdarangs just in case. It looked like he was going to meet the person who was distributing the magical candy in person and he would not be caught unawares or unprepared.

Suddenly, reality ripped open before him and spread out into a glowing green portal that was reminiscent of the Lazarus pits, and out floated what looked to be someone wearing a white bedsheet with two holes cut into it for eyes. They hummed to themselves as they held an entire pumpkin bucket of wish candy, which was significantly more than any of them had found at one time.

The amount of chaos that bucket of sweets would bring would be catastrophic to Gotham in its current state.

Taking a small handful of candies from the bucket, the person in the poorly made ghost costume started to place one on one of the graves when Robin leaped out brandishing his sword at them. “HALT! Put the candy down and take off the disguise now!” Robin snarled with all of his hackles raised. This was probably not the best idea. He was confronting a powerful unknown without backup and not able to get backup if he needed it.

“Wow! That’s an awesome Robin costume!” the cheap ghost exclaimed with delight when they turned to look at him. “That totally deserves more than one piece! Here you go lil man!” they cheerfully tossed two of the candies at Damian who restrained himself from slicing them in the air with his sword and instead caught them in one hand with ease.

“Tt. This is not a costume. I am the real one. Now you will tell me where you are getting this candy and who you are.” Robin said as he put the candy in a pocket of his utility belt without taking any of his attention away from the floating person before him. The wishes of the candy may cause something bad to happen but that didn’t mean they couldn’t be helpful in a pinch. People had saved themselves from bullet wounds and more. The twists being not nearly as bad as the repercussions from the deadly bullet would have been.

The ghost laughed joyfully. “Haha! That’s great! You even got his scowl down perfectly! And that sword looks super sharp. Are your parents okay with you handling that on your own?”

So they didn’t believe he was real? Well, that was a rather easy fix. After rolling his eyes, Damian closed the gap on the unsuspecting ghost and sliced his sword down. With precision, the blade only cut the sheet from the forehead all the way down to the white boots that peeked out from the bottom of the cloth. An autumn breeze blew the cheaply-made costume away to reveal a glowing teenager who looked to be only a couple of years older than himself with white hair and green eyes. He wore a black and white hazmat suit with a stylized symbol on his chest that made him look like a hero though he was a hero that Damian did not recognize. “It’s sharp because it is real and I would rather not have to use it on you,” Robin replied to the boy who was now frozen in place before him. “Now tell me, who are you and why are you leaving these candies around?”

“Oh… you are Robin. The very REAL Robin.” The teenager whispered before shaking himself out of the stupor he was in. “Um, hi! I’m called Phantom and these candies were just supposed to be something fun for Halloween! I can’t go into all of the details but a friend of mine basically has a lot of excess magic and before making these, it was used rather destructively. So I got the idea for these candies. It allows her to use up her magic and people can have fun pulling pranks and stuff with these things. Just imagine the shenanigans you could do on Halloween with one of these babies!”

“…So you are telling me that these candies were made to help alleviate your friend and be used as a way to prank others?” Robin asked with a slight hint of incredulousness in his tone. His eyebrow arched at the teen.

“Yeah! For example…” Phantom unwrapped one of the candies still in his hand and popped the red sugary orb into his mouth. Robin drops into a defensive stance immediately. “Ooooo watermelon flavor. Okay! I wish that whenever someone walks by this cemetery they are subjected to the skeleton dance with fake ghostly skeletons!”

As soon as Phantom finished talking, the sound of a xylophone was heard in the distance and Robin watched as glowing ghostly skeletons rose from the graves and started doing the dance from the video that Brown had been subjecting him to throughout the entire month of October. The teen laughed as the skeletons started dancing in circles around him until the song reached the end. Then they disappeared back into the graves they came from only to start up again when someone walked past the front gates and they ran to chase the poor Gothamites who happened to be walking by right then.

Damian had to admit. It was…amusing. He could see his siblings doing things and had seen them doing things with the candies like this. It looked like the only way to get out of the twist was to make the twist yourself by pranking others. “See? It’s great, isn’t it? Now you are being haunted more than by just a ghost, like myself.” Phantom grinned and Damian could see fangs behind those lips of his. Further proving that whatever Phantom was it wasn’t human.

“I can see that they could be rather helpful in childish endeavors.” Robin chose to ignore the squawk of indignation that came from the floating teen. “However, though they were made to be used for something childish and whimsical, people haven’t been using them that way. People have been hurting each other and using them to do horrible things. Gotham has been in a state of chaos since they started showing up. It’s a small miracle that no one has died yet.”

Phantom frowned at this news and went to reply when a massive explosion shook the ground around them and the two teens looked toward where it came from. A dragon roared in the distance as it swiped its claws at a skyscraper and the top half of the building began to collapse. Screams erupted from the same area. “Oh… oh no…”

Damian took one of the candies from his utility belt and popped it into his mouth. It was a rather delicious apple flavor. “I wish that the skyscraper the dragon just hit was back to normal and that anyone inside is unharmed.” As soon as he finished speaking the building magically righted itself and it was as if nothing happened. He turned to look at Phantom who now had a bashful expression on his face.

“Okay… yeah. Need some help cleaning up this mess?”

#7 was The Dog, and #31 was The Clouds.

I thought it was interesting that I drew The Dog so soon after my last reading - this is "just" coincidence, as I shuffled pretty thoroughly and the two readings were actually done like 10 hours apart. But as we know, true randomness doesn't care if you drew something once already, because then it wouldn't be random :) In any case, I find the Dog is a pretty perfect pull for this question.

My guess, not knowing the full context of the situation, is that nothing in this reading will likely be a surprise. But I hope that it helps to reinforce positive forces for you.

In this case, The Dog can very easily be interpreted as family, and the deep mutual love/trust/support that can be possible with such bonds. The dog depicted in the card, the Taiwan/Formosan Mountain Dog, is known for its energy and affection, and its distinctive tongue sticking out makes me smile and also reminds me that a good sense of humour can be both a helper and a healer during tough times. At the same time, many of the considerations I mentioned in the previous reading around connections with people may also apply here. Sometimes it's easy to make assumptions with the people we feel the closest to, and to push each others' buttons precisely because we know each other too well.

The Clouds is a card associated with confusion and uncertainty, which are certainly things that massive change can bring. You may question everything, and have doubt in yourself, your situation, and other people. Emotional turmoil - bad weather, bad feelings, can all arise. But, like I note in the overview document of card meanings - bad weather eventually passes. Everything passes. In the grand scheme of things, something that feels like the end of the world can be a faint memory in time, and the terrible dark clouds signaling thunder and lightning can change, bringing gentle rain or peaceful, lovely sights mere days or even mere hours later.

For me, this thought reminds me how impermanence can be a really powerful thing to bear in mind, and to help us focus on what really matters. In my mindfulness practice, a question that we sometimes reflect on, especially when we're in a moment of tense conflict with another person, especially when we care deeply about them - in 10, 20, 100, 300 years, will any of this matter? In 300 years, where will we be? And when I can remember that, it can help reorient me to what's truly important.

I felt compelled to do this based on my Etsy readings. The most common request in readings pertain to love and relationships, so I thought I would do a reading for what everyone's strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to relationships. I don't hold things back and say exactly what the cards show me, so if you don't like it, you may have to ask yourself why. Strength: You don’t stress over things easily and have a lax approach to life. You let whatever life has to offer you come to you and react accordingly. When it comes to relationships you realize everyone is on their own journey and don’t try to change them and hope the same for the way they see you. Your emotions almost take a backseat as your intellect and logic take the wheel. This is helpful in making the right decision and being the rock that everyone leans on for advice and for shedding their burdens. You always seem to know what to say and don’t hold on to things that could hold you back.

Weakness: When you feel something you don’t understand it overwhelms you. Now instead of being logical, it feels like you’re in the dark and have no clue what to say or do. What you don’t understand you see as a challenge that must be understood and overcome, but in this case you simply need to let the emotions sit with you and listen to what they're telling you. Yes, you are out of your element when you feel something new or don’t understand, but it’s times like this when you need to tap into your emotions and let logic sit back for a while. From this you will have profound growth and you will see relationships flourish in a new way around you. You may find in this growth that some people will be cut away as your emotions notice something that your logic doesn’t. It’s a painful process of loss and gain, but in the end we reach where we are meant to be and discover who we truly are.

Strength: You appreciate and even embrace those who are different in any way. It motivates you to know different perspectives and how people tackle things. You don’t judge or condemn anyone for their way of life or who they are. Because of this you will find that you are rewarded in many ways, both spiritually and physically.Both from the universe and the people in your life. 

Weakness:You are very adamant and stubborn when you want things your own way to the point of sometimes not even playing fair. When it comes to what you want and what you feel you deserve, anytime someone or something goes against it you lose your ability to see those different perspectives that give you so much joy. Your sight narrows on a goal and only sees one way to get to it, revoking all that you learn in the process.

Extra advice cards: There is some kind of deep pain within you that needs healing. This pain causes your morals and values to flip on its head depending on the situation. When it comes to your weakness of wanting things your way, what do you think sparked that? Why is it so important for you to get your own way? When did this start and how can you heal from it?

Strength: You already understand what it's like to feel grief and lose everything, and you know how damaging it can be to not be your true self and be forced to wear a mask. This experience has caused some deep wounds, but also a deep understanding of who you are and what you want in life. You have released the effects of those wounds and how they hold you back and instead use them to your advantage. You are now able to not only speak your mind to keep unwanted presences away, but also know how to tame a wild beast if need be. Should someone mean ill of you or try to change you you are now quick on the uptake and aim somewhere else, whether its calling them out and you grow with them or you speak your peace and walk away. When faced with many choices, it will be difficult to find who is true and for you without some experience, but eventually you will find the right one and more.

Weakness: You have two extremes when it comes to relationships. You are either stoic with no emotion and quick to call things out, or you give and share everything as you hope for the other to do the same. You have no in between.

Strength: You exude confidence. You have a take me or leave me attitude that demands respect and adoration. With it you take your first feelings and second guess them constantly, and proceed with caution with anyone you approach. You keep a guard up to protect your true feelings and with it people have to try harder to truly connect with you. This is a strength because doing this you at least won’t get hurt until the ones who mean well and are true to you unlock you. Those who don’t serve you or mean well or seem to care will just fall away, while those who do will match your confidence with passionate stubbornness to try and be close to you.

Weakness: You lack adventure or any willingness to try anything new, therefore relearning the same lessons and having the same experiences over and over. You need to try something different, however you lack enthusiasm for it leading you to stubbornly stay right where you are. The only growth happening is the bitterness in your heart from attracting and allowing the same kind of people and experiences to continue in your life. 

Extra advice cards: There are things that need to change, while you may think it’s outside yourself like others or your environment, it is actually something within you that needs changing. What beliefs and ideals do you hold on to that just seem to manifest around you? What energies are you putting out into the universe that keep coming back to you? What thoughts live inside your head that may be holding you back? How can you counter those thoughts?
