Life update!

Dropped out of college oops

Cant recommend unity environmental college and really have not been satisfied with the quality of education. I feel like I've learned more practical skills for wildlife rehabilitation as a kennel tech. If I ask a professor for a college level textbook about global warming and they respond "idk" and they're teaching a class about GLOBAL WARMING. I'm done lol. So i'm just gonna pay off my debt and work on hands on experience for awhile and decide of a bachelors and a vet tech degree is worth it or if vet tech is good by itself with other certifications.

For anyone considering that college here's my takeaways:

Built for someone with a job which is great

Very easy to do your degree in a piece wise fashion

Education on each topic is 5 weeks per course. great if you hate a course, terrible if you dont feel like you fully grasped some concepts

Price is on par with community college but has no connections, resources that arent digital and are not partnered with any external partnerships

You have to seek out your own opportunities for hands on experience via getting a job or applying to internships or volunteer work.

Full time does not give you any financial aid to support you i typically got 300$ for 5 weeks which is. Laughable. But it was nice for supplies for volunteer work

I feel like hands in experience is just more important. After taking some more specific courses I felt even though habitat creation is a cool topic you only touch on it for 5 weeks and the professors do not give a lot pf resources or sometimes really any at all. Which forces me to seek out additional resources.

4 5 minute youtube videos as the sources should not be considered scholarly. (What some classes at unity do each week)

I've been working as a kennel technician for dogs and cats which is very cool and hoping to use the experience to start my foray into a vet tech assistant. (Crazy I have to get a job for an assistant position but i digress)

America actively in its death throes as a society which is also gonna make things interesting but wildlife still needs to be rehabbed so fuck it we ball.

In other news i'm making a personal spiritual bird book of knowledge? Shadows? Its bird religion for a bird by a bird (ptarmigan) relating every other bird in the chosen list in relation to ptarmigans. It is going to be quite extensive! My first entry so far is chickens. Heres a peek:

The Chicken

Is a domesticated animal hailing originally from red and blue jungle fowl. Chickens have been near humans for thousands of years and stand as a sort of purgatory between humanity and wilderness.

Chickens represent an inversion and sign of distress. An animal that is also grouse like but unable to survive where it is released and has lost valuable features that I would deem necessary for survival in texas. They can forage and find food but have a diminished ecological niche without human intervention and are seen as an animal that competes with wild animals.

Chickens are hostile to most wildlife, chasing away birds or predating native species like mice, lizards, snakes, and bugs. They can also heavily impact micro ecosystems by their foraging method of upturning soil repeatedly. When done in the same location repeatedly it takes away moisture from the area destroying insect and bug habitat's for soil health.

If you see signs of a chicken consider yourself a fish out of water or betraying something fundamental.

Associations:

Plant - Silver leaf nightshade, poisonous and tolerant of dry barren conditions deters some wildlife and can poison cattle or animals that eat it.

Man - chickens are a middle man between man and animal

Daylight - chickens only forage until dusk and start at early dawn.

1/22/25 I also wanted to talk about the importance of community work, now more than ever we need to help the immigrant community out. We need to use our resources to spread factual information, combating fear with preparedness.

I used my printer to print and hand cut and fold “immigrant rights” cards. You can easily find them online, I found a pdf and used that to print out around 80. I also printed stickers of Elon saluting, because unfortunately this is the reality we’re in right now.

Please help your community! If you don’t have access to any of this stuff, check out your local library, or spread the knowledge that this stuff exists to your community who might not know about it.

I'm taking a Digital Design Concepts class. We're learning about the principles of Unity. One of which is Continuation. This principle has to do with leading the eyes of the viewer from one part of the design to another. Basically, one's gaze continues across the page on a path set by the designer.

We were assigned to come up with six designs total, two for each of the following principles: Continuation, Proximity, and Repetition.

Here are my Continuation designs! The professor stressed that we make these designs non-representational. So, of course, they come out looking very abstract. I have no problem with that. I'm someone who actually really enjoys abstract art. ^u^

One of the designs was meant to be drawn on paper using traditional media, and the other was meant to be created using Adobe Illustrator. Illustrator is a wholly new program to me, so I'm not as adept at implementing it to bring my visions to fruition. But I'm still not too disappointed with either design.

Though the goal was to keep these non-representational, I think categorization and identification is all but impossible to avoid. Abstraction doesn't prevent that mental process. So I began relating the traditional piece to a bouncing ball, and the digital piece to a pinball machine. Couldn't really be helped. :,)

Anyhow, I plan on designing Proximity next, and I'll share the two pieces here when I'm done!

Days 34-42 of coding everyday for a year and man has it been busy 😮‍💨

First of all I've been working very hard in my C# class and I have been impressing my teacher as per usual. Then C++ has been going well learning the syntax of C++ has been a journey, because it's very different from what I'm used to with C#. Then I have been coding more of the Unity game my studio has been working on adding a difficulty system, and a main menu settings page. The UI is much to be desired, but I'm still learning.

The next few days I'll be working on more C# homework, practicing C++, and working on json files for the game to create viewers for the chat.
