image generation remains one of the most benign usages of “AI”, speaking as a “skilled artist” with a fucking modicum of class consciousness, and it is insane to me that the most vocal contingents allegedly against this technology making the world worse seem completely uninterested in pushing forward any meaningful dialogue about what this technology is actually doing to, for example, search engines. publicly shaming people who wouldn’t have commissioned art in the first place for not commissioning more art reminds me so strongly of people still thinking we can moralize our way into universal masking by reminding people how wrong they are to not mask at all. like after years you’d think people would realize they’re looking at the beast’s whiskers and not the beast but here we are again and again 🤪

Can we get some cybertronian birb Jack bonding with Optimus? Good soup
Optimus had long gotten used to waking up with a small frame curled upon him. Even with an attachment for a bitlet's recharge slab with sheets and pillows that hadn't been scrap salvenged or rotted by rust, Jack crawled into Optimus' berth.
Despite the extreme suppression of his presence, Jack was a highly affectionate sparkling. Different from the usually self-contained human teenager that Optimus was used to. Little fingers grabbing the seams along his legs and waist, a small frame easily scaling up his height, an immature wingspan clattering against his smokestacks, a nuzzle across his neck-cables or an insistent, worldless demand of a cuddle for comfort, the strange, elusive EM field burbling joy in his own steady one for attention, and finding Jack slotted over his back or hugging his side during recharge in a sheet bundle.
Jack wedged himself between Optimus' back and the wall, hooking slim talons into armor, so in case Optimus decided to leave the room, then Jack was hitchhiking along side with well-practiced habit of utilizing magnets to keep in place.
Such as this morning.
Optimus slipped out of the berth, stretching out, frame hissing and cracking as it loosened up. Jack was barely a noticeable weight on his back as well as a heavy sleeper, slightly twitching when the sheets were left behind. Softly snoozing as Optimus walked in the Ark's hallway, not even hitching with the increased noise, but then again, Jack had settled down easily in trading hubs and space ports far busier and facilities that lacked the appropriate crew space for Cybertronians. Happy to tuck away against Optimus' frame or inside the cab to save room and a physical deterrent against more unscrupulous souls that tracked an immature frame of an advanced mechanical species.
Because as clever Jack may be, he could be overwhelmed with enough preparation as he lacked the full scope of transformation abilities, including an alt-mode and weaponry system.
Optimus heard the flapping wings before a few corvids perched on his shoulders, finding a purchase on the exposed cabling of his protoform. The blackbirds were highly vocal: chittering and making undulating calls; excited as the birds had long memorized the morning schedule of shower time.
Unlike their own dimension, where the flagship had to be abandoned due to the severe lack of resources to get a modicum of a functionality, not even worth it considering how small their team was, this Ark was liveable and retained most of its functions with the unfortunate exceptions of downed flight capabilities and long-distance transportation warp gates.
Here, with the help of nearby hydrothermal springs, volcanic activity, and Oregon's wet climate, the Autobots had a fully stocked shower rack with no strict rationing on the distilled water, heat, or usage.
It was an indulgence that Optimus allowed himself to enjoy, especially since Jack needed far more maintenance compared to him. Jack's frame was immature, still developing and reconfiguring itself orn by orn, including his limbs and wingspan. Seams lengthening or shortening. Some disappearred completely and slowly resurface over the months. Dry brushing was a necessary evil- no matter how much Jack squirmed, whined, and tried to avoid it by squireling away in hard to reach areas -in ports with limited-to-no available solvents for personal care. Grime that settled deep into Jack's current frame development would cause protoform irritation, armature warping, delayed growth, and uneven coloration.
Jack eventually learned to appreciate grooming in wet baths, especially in places where he was free to roam around or splash about.
Within a private stall, both animals and sparkling screeched back and forth, circling the enclosed space before Jack willingly went to Optimus' lap, kicking out his pedes, splaying out his wingspan as wide as possible.
Optimus had never told anyone that he still carried or, at least, regained some tidbits of his Wastelands history as he switched from blunt digits to claws. Jack purred, grey-blue optics dimming as the sharpened tips picked at his seams to remove any dust and dirt, and they settled in a familiar, pleasant groove where Jack chattered about dreams and yesterday's adventures, wiggling around as Optimus guided his frame to reach other seams, fields meshed in a homey, comfortable buzz under the hot spray of multiple shower heads.
Jack vibrated with pure joy when Optimus scrapped the last areas and ushered him off, and shook his entire body, platelets clattering in a similar ripple as, much to the corvids' continuous delight, a manner similar to the birds' ruffled feathers as they used a soaking bowl for wash rags as a birdbath.

I have a question inspired by the Quirk Usage for Jobs question answered: Is Hero Work, or hero-related, really the only jobs where you can officially use (and train) your quirk usage for your profession/for in general?
I'm glad you asked about this. Because there were some tidbits I didn't have the time or space to bring up before.
Tumblr media
Yes and no. There is some basic learning for your Quirk. Part of Quirk Counseling is people learning to use and understand their Quirks. We have been told and shown that kids do receive a modicum of training as a part of the process, such as in Tamaki's flashback when he was in middle school. It's nowhere near what heroes do, but it's something. As for anything beyond that, there hasn't been anything showing that civilians can use their Quirks for professions. I'm sure people can still train their Quirk on their own time, and nobody is going to stop them. At least, if it's in their own home. I don't think they could just go to any gym and start using their Quirks.
However, there can be loopholes for this. In Vigilantes, Pop Step was allowed to perform and use her Quirk as a part of the performance. It just had to be used under the supervision of Captain Celebrity and his agency. So heroes can give the people the ability to use their Quirk in specific circumstances as long as they are there to oversee it and take responsibility if anything happens. Since heroes are the only ones who have real experience with Quirks as a whole. Still, I feel like something like this is an exception. Because it's a one-time performance, and Pop Step's Quirk has nothing to do with her performance ability. It's just more there to give some extra flair to the show. It's not something that gives her a drastic advantage or actively undermines her competition.
Finally, there does seem to be some gray area when it comes to heroes. With Uraraka, we're given an example of her wanting to get a license to use her Quirk to help out with her parents' business. So maybe there could be cases where heroes can use their Quirks for non-hero jobs. Which makes some sense. Quirks are dangerous, and you'd want someone who is specifically trained to use their power instead of some random civilian. However, there isn't any other kind of reference to this in the manga. So I have no idea if this is even a thing people can do. Because heroes seem to limit their Quirk usage only to fighting crime and doing performances for the public. Heroes can have side hustles, but none of the other alternative businesses we've seen have anything to do with their Quirks' usage.

You're so right about people who never really engaged with Imogen as a character.
I remember seeing posts asking why Imogen didn't leave Gelvaan earlier, and would suggest it was because of some sort of 'learned helplessness'?
She's a telepath! Her powers would follow her wherever she went! Sure, Gelvaan was awful to her, but she doesn't have much better alternatives. She could either a) leave her only family member to live the same life in another town or city (physically painful, and only better if they don't discover her powers), or b) totally isolate herself from everyone, and provide for herself...somehow. She was already very alone before meeting Laudna and was pretty deeply unhappy about it.
Idk. I'm not even particularly good at themes and deep reading but this was just surface level understanding of her powers, and people weren't even willing to do that.
the "learned helplessness" thing really kind of is the ideal example for the very dumb way the fandom uses autonomy, discursively, as kind of an all or nothing deal. because learned helpfulness is a thing, and i would fully believe it's something Imogen experienced in her time in Gelvaan. but as you pointed out, it's usage here puts the blame squarely on her, while ignoring the societal and environmental factors that made life in Gelvaan difficult and would have likely made it difficult anywhere else.
this is an extension of an incredibly punitive, carceral culture and logic in fandom, something that's changed face over time but never really left. Laudna didn't try to take Ishta because Delilah preyed on her grief and trauma and anger to stroke her jealousy and arcane addiction and feelings of powerlessness and worthlessness and fear that she'll be abandoned if she can't be useful, no. she did it because she's a bad person. she did it because she needs to make everything about herself and loves playing the victim and she's greedy and too dangerous and totally the one in the queer housing group who won't do the dishes because she has "dish-related trauma", am i right guys. she did it because it doesn't matter why Laudna did it, she needs to be called out and held accountable, and anyone who tries to explain her actions or sympathize with her or defend her against the most cruel and untrue comments is coddling her and erasing her agency and thinks she was completely in the right. and they're probably a misogynist. or even worse, a misandrist.
it's also an extension of fan resistance to the existence of oppressed-oppressor relationships or just general power dynamics in Exandria wherein parties they sympathize with or project onto act as the oppressor, ranging from the Gods to the people of Gelvaan. these parties, in turn, will have their agency obfuscated while the harmed is laid bare. the most obvious, and infuriating, examples of this in CR fandom are the suggestions that Opal and Dorian are responsible for their victimization by the Spider Queen, because Opal chose to put on the crown and Dorian was, uh, there with his brother? i've repeatedly seen those things presented as incidents that can't be blamed on the gods, really, because Opal and Dorian had any modicum of free will. as if the Spider Queen accidentally stumbled into creating an evil corruption crown or killing Cyrus. she can't help it, she's just being Lolth!
which takes us back to Gelvaan, and the idea that Imogen was suffering from some "learned helplessness" that was a purely internal failure and not the result of any external conditions. i joked on that other post abt Liliana being the final exam in a class many people had been failing from the start, and like, yeah, being able to understand "Imogen suffered in Gelvaan for reasons that were not solely or mostly her fault and would have been the same or similar elsewhere" feels like one of those early pop quizzes. and at this point, it's like, idk. sorry that you can't enjoy the beautiful, bittersweet mother daughter reunion bc you were too concerned with ideas of personal responsibility 100 episodes ago to properly empathize with Imogen. skill issue tbh

The Heaven-Earth Megadeath
“Revolution is, by its nature, inherently revolting. For it to succeed, it requires Death of the Other. For it to be permanent and good, it requires Death of the Ego. The ultimate sacrifice for the final battle. In the words of the Screaming Wind Buddha: it is the Turning of the Wheel of History, which has no predetermined fate but the Effects of its Causes. That is to say, the Hand of Humanity.”
The Ultimate Nondual Thesis of the Great Black Specter Wellavaisnawa
Written by: Scholar-Saint Amiru Kinayumisatt
Hidden from all of you is the little known fact that the decimation of total Human Emancipation continued ruthlessly following the crushing defeat of the Second World Revolution, wherein the United Union of Peace (UUP) which was headed by the High Bourgeoisie and the Trillionaires of the Trichiliocosm, who ruled and pulled the strings from Soreh, Raten, Ressen-Nalenji, Shen, Selorong, and Amatsu. It did not end with the Ultima Bomb.
The colonies that bargained for their liberation were all still penetrated through by the ideals and contracts of the UUP. As Shen and Selorong attempted to revitalize Communist efforts, the Plutocrats engendered the greatest propaganda effort known to Mankind, branding the revolutionaries are terrorists and upstarts threatening the Universal Peace of Hingsajagra. This led to the leaders of the established, newly liberated nations (closer to neocolonies) to enact pogroms across the Utter islands to expunge Communist thought from its politics, and to push them to the margins, the mountains, the rivers.
Let it not be a hidden fact from you that all of this has thusly been scrubbed out or branded as “necessary” for the modicum of “peace” we now live through, which is indistinguishable in truth from apocalypse. The Capitalists, the Liberals, and the Fascists enacted the greatest ideological genocide of all, for they knew one last uprising by the wretched of the earth will lead into the final battle between Emancipation and Oppression. Following the records—which now have become obscured from public viewing, of course—there is an estimated 3 Billion lives lost to this great alignment purge.
Due to its sheer atrocious nature, it has been given a proper name by us still living Communists and followers of Masangwan Thought: The Heaven-Earth Megadeath…
…and it continues to this day.
The slaughters are recent. Thus placed here in the interest of preserving the sensibilities of those that have yet survived such massacres.
Altan Commune Destruction of 11610. Considered by many to be the largest loss—a few years after the crushing defeat of the Second World Revolution, the Altan Commune (situated at the heart of the Soreh Republic) which won its place just 10 years earlier, was devastatingly crushed by join Mun, Ratenese, Sorehnese Royalist, Amatsunese, and Colonized forces, all banded under the UUP. The Altan Commune managed to put out a large number of writings and advanced communist thought, leading to a large number of Communist Wizards, Mystics, and Martial Artists all following the steps of Kafeng Masangwa and (later) Dattreya Wairini. Unfortunately the united counter-revolutionary forces of the UUP proved too strong for the time, especially with the dark magicks and unethical usage of Karma Engines (it is long said that the main reason why the Communists lost was because they refused to sacrifice people, spirits, and gods to their Karma Engines, while the UUP decided that it was a “necessary evil”). Crushed, many leaders of the commune, including Ultramaterialist Mystic Seten Jaro, traveling mendicant Asatalila, Razrunan freedom fighter Keramusa, Political Mystic Vanantan Lagang, and Sorehnese Communist-Gunsmith Rissen Vezzan, fled to various different parts of the Utter Islands to continue the fight. Many of them would be crushed in later Massacres, assassinated by reactionary elements building within the Communist spaces (in response to the mounting victory of the Reactionaries), and taken prisoner by the worldwide empire of Capital (which would manifest as the International Amalgam of Free Nations or the IAFN).
The Jemushi Massacre of 11614. The Jemushi are the indigenous people of the western Jade Forests of the Wadzaran Earthsea region. Achieving national consciousness, they dared to fight back against the Amatsunese expansion during the 11600s. The Empire of Amatsu had strengthened its ties with the burgeoning republic superpower of Ressen-Nalenji, to the point that Ressen-Nalenji has multiple military temples within Amatsu in exchange for Ressen-Nalenjese hildemej magitek. The Jemushi, in an attempt to free itself, supported by the Selorongian Commune and the still self-establishing Celestial Shennin Society, struck at the joint Ressen-Nalenjese-Amatsunese military complex on Himazo Prefecture. The Amatsunese forces, with its newfound hildemej magiteks, managed to mount a counteroffensive in time and decimated the rebellion forces, forcing Jemushi back into their town. This occurred at Rat Month of 11614. Five months later, on the 26th day of the Snake Month, the Amatsunese massacred the hometown of the Jemushi, leading to their nigh cleansing save for those that were working abroad or those that managed to escape through the help of their spiritseers, wizards, and gods. Only 20 Jemushi families still live.
The Ganatipan Massacres of 11635. The Charnel Isles, The Pearlescences, and the Blasted Isles were once all part of the Mahabidaran Mandala, a network of free-trading polities, kedatuans, kerajaans, sultanates, and kingdoms. One of the colonies of the Central Yavinian Trading Guild, the Krasnan East Vatuan, which encompassed the largest collection of islands in the Mahabidaran Island Continuum, began a protracted independence war with the Krasnan Empire (which at this point had begun to be subsumed under the Ressen-Nalenjese Merchant Empire). Due once again to a mix of liberal and communist forces, the Krasnan East Azrans freed themselves and took upon the endonym Vatuan to refer to their erstwhile country. Unfortunately, the second president of the Vatuan Republic, Ultranationalist Josar Magat Wedajoyo, successfully aligned with the Ressen-Nalenjese to accrue greater capital power and to “secure” the safety of the Vatuan Republic (in exchange for becoming one of the political allies against the burgeoning Shennin Communism). The Ultranationalist Policies eventually led to the Communist Moksa of 11635, where the Vatuan Commune of Ganatipan in the western island of Irrajada was violently invaded, conquered, and destroyed by the greater Vatuan Military Forces. 1 million people were killed—not just communists, but communist “sympathizers” as well, which was majority not even communist. The majority of the killings even happened outside of the city centers, in an effort to cow and ultimately scare any communist uprising within the Vatuan Republic.
The Re-Enlightenment League Massacre of 11637. In the contested area of Kamguk to the east of Shennin territory, Eastern Kamguk fought for liberal democracy against Shennin-backed Western Kamguk, which sought to forward a socialist state. The Ressen-Nalenjese worked with the Amatsunese, who had at this point in history colonized that area of Shen during the Decades of Carnage and around the end of the Second World Revolution. The lingering Amatsunese colonial government ceded the territories to Ressen-Nalenji (through the Yavinian Trading Guild/YTG) after the Dragon and Bear Accords. However, part of what was once historically Kamguk had been “infilitrated” with Communist ideals, causing the split. East Kamguk became Ressen-Nalenji’s bulwark against socialist spreading. This led to the bloody Kamguk Civil War, which began when the First President of the East Kamguk Republic (Acham Kuhai, who studied in Soreh and was an ardent firebrand Pro-YTG statesman) enacted the Massacre of the Re-Enlightenment League (a League he adopted from the Amatsunese Colonial Re-Education project and turned into an Anti-Communist re-education project). An estimated 10,000 Communists and 20,000 Communist “Sympathizers” (often were not at all communists nor sympathizers) were murdered. At the end of the Civil War (which would reach a stalemate), during the Battle of Jokumugbuki (Little Dragon Turtle) River, another 7,000 more were massacred under the fears that they were West Kamguk sympathizers.
The Crushing of the Razrunan Commune in 11640. In the Tiger Cities of Razru, the Communist Political Thinker Surdhujangga and the Anarchist Mystic-Warrior Garuppusuran banded together to establish a powerful revolutionary commune in the heart of the Yaga River, where the remains of the Dead God Nuro was turned into the city Nurotayam (lit. Heart of Nuro) where he was kept alive through worship. It was the last vestige of the ancient World-Spanning Razrunan Empire. The God was killed by the Ratenese Colonialists. Here, the Revolutionaries established their final stand. Rutraic Apostate Wellavaisnawa (who, at 23, was executed by the burgeoning Razrunan State after it had been given to them by the Ratenese) created a synthesis of Communistic and Anarchistic praxis and theory, retrofitted into the contexts of Razrunan material life. The commune amassed great amounts of worker-power but was ultimately demolished when the Amatsu arrived to help the Ratenese quell the revolutions through the use of superior war-magicks.
The Eradication of the Selorongian Commune. By 11643, the Selorongian Commune (established by Masangwans 50 years prior, during the Decades of Carnage) had become the final bastion of Communism, Anarchism, and Socialist thought. The people within were mostly refugees, deserters, apostates, and unwantables of the other states. It was the final bastion of humanity. Here, the final revolution happened: war-magick catastrophe beaten back by forces of the Termagant Buddha and the Collective of Workers. In the final days of the Selorongian Commune, Dattreya Wairini, the Second Buddha of the Utter Islands, paved the way for a pyrrhic victory, at the end of which she attained Ultimate Awakening—that is to say, Revolution. Unfortunately, she left the world, now knowing of greater knowledge than the others, and Selorong became a lawless city that was not beholden to any of the republics nor to the Celestial Shennin Society. It had achieved final freedom, but the war-magicks deployed and the abominable Karmic Destruction wrought by the IAFN had almost completely eradicated the worker population of Selorong. Those that came to repopulate the liberated City knew that if a Third Revolution were to happen, it will happen from Selorong, but it must decide its fate. All Alignments and Political Ideologies have now staked their claim in Selorong, knowing its ultimate utility in the far edge of fate.

I need someone to re-teach this dying website how c/p a frickin hyperlink straight into the text box with no other formatting is NOT going to get ANYONE to c/p it and go to a new tab and read your fic.
I need someone to re-teach everyone who has forgotten the old ways that the Tumblr Link Blocks are really ugly AND don't show the proper data, cutting off fic/chapter titles and hiding summaries.
It used to be better, but for years now it has been bad. Everyone needs to absorb like a tiny modicum of user/graphic design psychology. You're not allowed to feel bad about your reach/readership/stats/etc if you're actively torpedoing average Joe's clicking instincts.
Type out, in text, the name of the fic/chapter whatever you're linking to, select that text, and turn it into a hyperlink with the interlocked chain (link) symbol.
But yeah. Someone should make a post about it with nice how to style instructions and explain all of that nicely and I'll reblog it. Internet usage comprehension and design 101 please.

on the above —
Most instances of “a something of” have a vagueness about them: there is no antecedent in the text; they are used as local rhetorical or poetical flourishes. This somewhat changes in the rebound of the phrase’s usage in the latter half of the 20th century, where it is found — with quite specific senses — in technical and critical settings, e.g., linguistics, philosophy, logic.       The sources represented by the above 11 instances are the imperfect result of a search for a-something-of’s where they might be attached to a name or honorific — an antecedent yielding (perhaps) a modicum of concreteness.       As always, some elements are reordered, and punctuation introduced.
all a something of’s

Was writing a very long and rambly post about gen AI usage in writing and specifically fanfic - deleted it and tried to be more concise, this is the “concise version” (you may or may not agree with my definition of “concise”).
I see the arguments people make against it and I agree with them but I’m also like “there’s something missing from this that I can’t articulate”.
I guess mainly because I think some people who post gen AI fic aren’t being lazy assholes who just want to throw something on AO3 or tumblr for kudos. And yeah this is probably more me projecting my own feelings and insecurities as a novice writer but like … I think someone runs to ChatGPT or whatever because they have an idea but are afraid to voice it in their own words. Tbh coming up with the prompt for AI to fill out does require some modicum of creativity - they have a vision but the idea of executing it is daunting af. I mean “scared to take the risk of writing something in your own words” is like one of the root causes of writer’s block. It’s one of the reasons I have terrible writer’s block: I get stuck in an endless loop of “he wouldn’t fucking say that … well maybe actually he would? No he wouldn’t … but what if he did? But no actually he wouldn’t fucking say that.” (As if I’m the creator of the source media and I get paid to know if he would indeed fucking say that … I need to grab the monster of perfectionism and drop kick it into the sun)
I don’t think it’s really a lack of creativity as much as a fear of being creative.
… and so I guess I came to the conclusion that (some) AI fic writers aren’t being lazy. They’re just being cowards.
And the video I watched that precipitated all of this:
youtube
Low key inspiring tbh.

I really hate it when fanfic writers act like the Jedi weren’t at all responsible for the massacre of the Haat’Ade on Galidraan.
The Jedi did not bother to do a modicum of research on Mandalorians, which if they had done they’d have known that the Haat’Ade follow a strict code of honour, including not killing civilians or children, meaning they were not the group of Mandalorians who were killing people on Galidraan.
The Jedi approached Jango and the Haat’Ade with their lightsabers drawn and demand he surrender to them. So they’ve already decided Jango and his people are the guilty party, without any investigating.
The Jedi, instead of deescalating the situation, chose to completely slaughter the Haat’Ade. Yes, Jango shot first. But they’re Jedi. They can deflect blaster bolts. Unless every single Haat’Ade there fired at once, there was time for them to deflect the initial bolt and at least attempt to deescalate the situation.
The Jedi handed Jango over to be sold into slavery.
The Jedi are at fault for the massacre of the Haat’ade and the enslavement of Jango. Indirectly, that also means that the clones were made because of them.
(I also hate how their usage of the clones- enslaved child soldiers- gets glossed over, but that’s a different post for a different time.)

sunday & robin thoughts aka yap session below
it always gets to me how much robin knows about her brother that he seems to think she isn't privy to bc she doesn't divulge that she knows to allow him some modicum of privacy/space to allow him to tell her when he feels comfortable to. things like in the 2.7 talk robin knew that 'ms. wonweek' was not an intellitron from the nightingale family, but her brother in disguise via usage of the harmony. yet throughout the conversation she doesn't say a word directly calling him out. she does speak of him and says things to him in a way of saying how she thinks and feels. and when he couldn't say goodbye himself, she notes she's possibly stronger than he thinks which is quite true.
throughout the story sunday has shown a desire to shelter and protect her from harm even from a young age having sung her a lullaby in youth to help her fall asleep. in her first about sunday she also notes how he thinks he should shoulder more responsibilities. he's one who listens to her but doesn't divulge his own problems to her. he keeps it all inside hidden even if she can tell he's hurting. it's clear she wants to help him, but he's put the duty of protector onto himself which even turns to a fault of sorts in the course the revelation of his grand scheme in 2.2's finale. robin would be one of the people he'd keep in the sweet dream even if she doesn't want to and he's the one who will remain awake while everyone else slumbers in a self-sacrificial manner as it's like he believes he's truly unworthy of the paradise he and his sister dreamed of since youth.
in part robin allowed sunday to take a protector role saying how she never contemplated stepping out of his shadow and is well aware no matter where their paths in life take them she'll forever be his little sister. while she is her own person and sunday his own robin is aware she will forever be his sister. she may fly to the stars and soar the heavens but she'll return to her perch.
with sunday now the one having embarked on his own journey and robin finding her footing where she stands it'll be a true question on what will be learned. sunday when asked about her shows he's come to terms that robin can very well take care of herself. it's something he's aware now that he should have accepted and acknowledged long prior and now he's prepared to face hardships first, independent of her still holding the protective mindset while also finally making his own way and allowing robin the grace to go things with her own strength and capabilities.
and yeah that's all i have to say i just wanted to yap about them. they mean so much to me.

Could. *Could.* It's extrapolation, which assumes that we won't make massive leaps and bounds in the efficiency and density of both the processors and their cooling solutions (which we have already done, multiple times) *and* that the demand for large-scale training won't fall off or concentrate into a few key hyperscalers. It's an extremely hamfisted "big number scary" estimate that doesn't meaningfully reflect reality.
I did explicitly state that there was a conversation to be had about growing datacenter power usage, but that this wasn't the way to make that point, and given how often I've seen this lie perpetuated and peddled I've lost all patience for treating this perspective with a modicum of respect. Anti-AI grifters get no more of my respect than NFT and crypto grifters. They exploit people's fear and uncertainty and misinform them about something that it's essential to know the facts about, regardless of where you stand on the subject, and I'm long dry on patience for treating posts like this as anything but hypebeast tripe.

The term “Ukraine fatigue” is certainly not new. We’re accustomed to the political West using it, particularly during the fall and winter, when Europe’s dependence on Russian energy is most apparent. However, it seems the latest usage of the term breaks off from the usual pattern and may indicate that the world’s most aggressive power pole is looking for ways to leave the Neo-Nazi junta to fend for itself. The main issue seems to be how to accomplish this without it looking like yet another pathetic defeat. Obviously, the United States and EU/NATO are directly responsible for this dilemma, as the mainstream propaganda machine spent the last two and a half years claiming that “Ukraine is winning”. Anyone with a modicum of knowledge about the actual situation would laugh at this notion, but the vast majority of regular people simply don’t have access to such information.
However, top-ranking officials in US/EU/NATO often tell us what’s really going on with spelling it out. Namely, in an interview with FT, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen talked about the aforementioned “Ukraine fatigue” and stated that “it’s real, and increasingly so”. According to her assessment, wars in the Middle East (specifically Gaza and Lebanon) have further “heightened this fatigue”, as they’re also distracting the political West’s attention and resources away from supporting the Kiev regime.
“These two conflicts are, of course, very much linked. But for us Europeans, it would be important to realize that if we allow Russia to win in Ukraine, then essentially we end the credibility of our deterrence,” Valtonen said, adding: “There is support for Ukraine, but what is sufficient? That is the question. Many [countries] would like to think, since especially with the war waiting in the Middle East, it would be great if we found an answer to this war.”

Hey, a historical fencer here!
You said you had some experience with historical European arms and I was wondering if you did any HEMA and what historical sources/fighting systems you used.
Hi there!
I've only had a modicum of experience, at this point im essentially a novice, hence why im not delving super deep into usage, to answer your question more specifically yes i do HEMA! i mainly work with Fiore, Lichtenauer, codex wallerstein and Meyer!
i'm just about good enough with some weapons like backsword, sidesword and some sabre systems to look good to someone who has never studied swordsmanship, and im at most half decent with longsword, but im very much looking forward to being in a position to attend lessons again, as unfortunately i can't right now, but here's hoping that changes soon!
Apologies for the long winded answer, may you edges stay sharp and you point true!
ps
i also enjoy the dueling shield

Why Hire a Licensed Home Electrician in Palm Beach County and Jupiter, FL?
Most individuals do not want to spend money on minor repairs. They usually try to fix things themselves, armed with a modicum of knowledge. Sure, DIY tasks can be effective sometimes, but it would not be brilliant to tinker with electricity. Requesting services early by contacting a company adept at all sorts of electrical services is the right thing to do. The top home electrician in Palm Beach County and Jupiter, FL, is sure to be licensed and adept at carrying out the necessary installations, repairs, and replacement of components.
Several people feel that they are competent enough. Knowing a bit of school physics may not be enough. On the contrary, it makes sense to concentrate on necessary tasks and leave electrical repairs to a certified electrician to deal with such issues. Some of the benefits of spending a few dollars for superlative electrical repairs and installations include the following:-
· Safety Ensured- An electrical fire can be devastating. It may result in burn injuries and destroy the property seriously. Therefore, having a skilled electrician who knows the ropes is recommended. Moreover, the statistics reveal that nonfatal electrocutions are common across the US. A licensed electrician will be aware of the local regulations and safety practices. The professional will advise the customer about the hazards and ask them to remove the children and pets from the area before beginning their work. The resident is thus fully protected and safe from sudden accidents caused by faulty electrical wiring or installations.
· License—Hiring a wannabe electrician with basic skills and no license is a strict no-no. While they may manage simple tasks, it is important to know that the local bodies may not permit new installations within the specified area unless the task is done by a licensed electrician. Inept work by an unskilled person may lead to fire, causing serious injuries, too. Moreover, the insurance carrier will refuse to pay the due coverage when an unlicensed electrician does the task.
· Time & Money Saver- A competent electrician is sure to have made similar repairs and/or installations multiple times before. The task will not take too much time to be completed. Plus, the professional will finish the task and check whether it works before stating that it is complete. The customer will also receive tips about its usage and precautions. True, the services of a licensed electrician are not cheap. The expense is justified as the concerned professional carries the necessary tools and required components. There is no trial & error method used either. The consumer can be sure of getting the tasks done without waiting too long.
Florida's hot and humid climate makes a swimming pool a welcome addition. It is essential to use the services of an expert electrician to install solar panel pool heaters in Palm Beach County and Jupiter, FL, that keep the water at an optimum temperature throughout the year. This green energy fails to add to the utility bills as well.
