How To Get Roughly 50 Notes On An Original Writing Post And Possibly Net A Single Reader
I had someone ask today how I get people to click through and read my writing, and I'm realizing that I've never actually made a post all in one place of everything I do to get a new piece of short fiction off the ground... so here you go! How to get (some) eyes on your work, even if it is not published anywhere of interest and you don't have a marketing team behind you.
The #1 thing is presentation. You want to get people's attention, and once you have it, convince them to keep paying attention. Fortunately, people tend to be both reasonable and predictable, which means all you have to do is follow The Formula.
Tumblr media
(original post link)
Here's the formula from the above post broken down:
[giant horizontal title card, preferably animated to catch the eye] OR [a few tasteful parallels, if you're good at parallel posts]
TITLE (linked to where you can read the piece) / wordcount
a quote that is representative of the tone, themes, prose style, and/or the "promise of the premise"
A longer pitch, featuring the overall subject of the piece (transsexual reality TV drama), any comp titles (Detransition, Baby), the main draw (in this case, watching trans people be awful to clueless cis people), major themes (performance), and any other promises you'd like to make (food romance and tigers). You can see that the quote I chose delivers on the promise of trans people intellectually outperforming cis people-- if I were a reader, I would be more likely to trust that the rest of the pitch was accurate based on that assurance.
If you have any positive reviews on your piece, say so. If it has won any awards or contests, say so. If your work has made people cry, Doja Cat - Say So. Always. Generally speaking, more personal and more detailed is better, but keep it to one or two people-- e.g. "when I gave this to my S/O to read he shot milk out of his nose so far I had to go clean under the couch" or "my favorite review of this piece is the reader who said they read it chapter-by-chapter under their covers because they wanted it all to themself." This should be one sentence.
Depending on where the story is published, what you usually promote, etc., it may be worthwhile saying the story is free. Use your judgment on whether the reader can tell.
I also like putting my links at the bottom so someone seeing this on a friend's dash can easily track me around the 'Net. They make me look more professional (I now include a link to my website) and they visually balance the post, in my opinion. This post also happened to have some additional links for bonus content.
This is not as high stakes as it seems. I'm not 100% happy with the pitch here, and I'm not 100% happy with the graphics I've used in other cases. These are some bones that help to sell the piece even when the details aren't as sharp.
REBLOGGING
When is the last time you read something the first time you saw it on your dash? I schedule reblogs of all important posts at least twice over the next 2-3 days, often three times so I can get the morning/afternoon/evening reblog. If your followers tend to be more active at certain times, go ahead and use those. In the past I've intentionally scheduled posts for times I knew more popular mutuals were active, and it has paid off!
I also schedule a reblog for a week and a month and sometimes even a full calendar year out, because I know there is going to be that person who tags the piece '#to read' and instantly forgets about it, only to get excited when they see it weeks later. I am very often that reader. The goal is to catch people when they're ready to read immediately, and this is a game of chance.
Every so often, I go through my entire #writing or #important writing updates or even just #popular tag(s) and queue two dozen posts before shuffling my queue to redistribute matters. This keeps my older work circulating, ensuring new readers get a chance to see older pieces and giving those older pieces another shot at dashboard space. (More on #popular later.) This sounds like a lot, which is why you have to space everything pretty far apart. Fortunately, this is the world's best site for cool things to reblog. I guarantee you that you can find something new you love to post in the meanwhile.
COPING WITH FAME
The post above is what I, a published author, consider "doing well" for a post about my writing on Tumblr. As of October 10th, 2024, over two years after its initial posting and over five years into my posting doggedly about my original fiction, it has 77 notes. More than half (43) are likes. Around half of the reblogs are me promoting my own work or the same very sweet person dutifully reblogging me every time I do so. Glancing through the reblogs now, I know of four people whom I can confirm have read it. Presumably, there are more who are completely silent and have never interacted with the post whatsoever. Genuinely: wahoo!! I am so grateful and happy for the attention and reception of my work.
This is the number one thing I suggest: focus on what you have, and not what you lack. Imagine your post from the perspective of an outsider: even one reblog means you convinced that one person to spread your art! How cool is that! This is also good advice because moping is simply not helpful; it will not get you more reads. (And no, neither will guilting others. Kill that vent post in your head!)
GETTING FOLLOWERS
I don't have that many followers. Of the followers I do have, people are very unpredictably active. When I hear about other people's follower counts I am consistently surprised, because people with half of mine will have fans and haters the likes of which I could not possibly dream of. I follow 500-follower folk who post "I ate a strawberry today" and get 6 asks ranging from "Wow I respect you so much for eating that strawberry" to "I'm going to come to your address at [REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED] and shove bananas down your throat for hating on my favorite fruit."
I point this out to establish three important things. 1) Be grateful for what you have (in my case, 0 anonymous hate asks about fruitpinions), 2) followers have far less impact on interaction than one might think, and 3) followers don't engage with the things you might like them to.
Think about yourself. Are you more likely to reblog a photo of a cat in a pumpkin (alright, here) or something advertising fifteen minutes' worth of writing, which could be, for all you know, bad? Or, for that matter, by a person you should not like to support? Reblogs on generically interesting things are 'safer' (unfortunately) than reblogs on art, and it makes perfect sense that people are skittish around the latter. People don't often reblog things they haven't read, and nobody can reblog every artpost on their dash. Having someone else put it there, however, is incredibly powerful—someone's vetted this post as Worth a Reblog, after all. Having more followers allows for much more of this.
(Followers don't guarantee any one sort of interaction, but having more of them is rarely bad. Rarely.)
Across my most popular posts, one theme becomes very obvious: people like things that apply to them or their blog. I try to post writing advice/opinions/memes every so often, because I know I have a loyal base of writerfolk who like to see that from me, and it's "easier" to reblog than my writing. This is simply the nature of the universe. I used to pretty frequently go into the #writeblr tag and check out what was recently popular so I could figure out how to serve the same base, and from time to time it worked.
You're welcome to examine the list of #writing posts that made it to 100 notes, because each tends to have a notable reason behind its success: a reblog with an exceptionally good review, a contest win, a wordcount that lends itself to pasting the whole thing in one go.
(Posts about my book's release are a notable exception, in part due to Blaze and in part due to my absolutely relentless flogging of their reblog buttons during the ~year of promotion. Also in large part to a dedicated circle of friends who passed the post around nonstop! Thank you so much!!)
A lot of people will tell you to attempt covert reciprocal promotion. You know—reblog a lot of stuff, in the hopes that people will reblog yours. If I could change one thing on Tumblr, it would be this: the culture that quietly encourages disingenously interacting with other people with a secret True Goal in mind. (On the autism website.)
Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, do not do this. If you comment on other people's work, do it because you're happy to do so. When I released Paper Tigress, I went through everybody else who responded to the same prompt and read their work, because I had the day off and I was curious. This has led to Paper Tigress having more comments on Reedsy than one of my contest winners, and even outranking the shortlisted story in the same prompt category. However, this would have been a waste of my time if I did not genuinely enjoy reading the other stories. I read 80+ stories, taking several hours, and gained 30 comments from the venture (half my comments are my responses).
Crucially, I do not promote other writers' work on Tumblr in the hopes of them reading or boosting mine. This is the #1 tip I see thrown around that I viscerally disagree with. While, again, I am grateful for engagement with my work regardless of the context, I do not want people suffering through my work in the hopes that I will promote them. I work a full-time job, and my reading calendar is perpetually overbooked, including with work by my absolute best of friends. Even if it wasn't, I think it would be quite insulting if I were posting works in the hopes that someone would choke it down like medicine. I post what I think is good so that people can read and enjoy it. If you are not enjoying it, I do not want you to feel as though you have to read it. My aim is to give to others what my favorite authors have given me, which is most certainly not A Bad Time Spent Being Dishonest In The Hopes Of Getting Something Back. You have better things to do with your time. Please be honest.
CONCLUSION
Realistically, the readers I have, I gained through being a published author for five years promoting my behind off on Tumblr, the least forgiving social media for promotion. People like it when you have a book they can buy, especially if it has Goodreads reviews that make it look like you have been vetted for them. Many people who follow me have read only Something's Not Right and nothing else. (Many people who follow me have read everything but Something's Not Right.) I have posted dozens of pieces on Tumblr and Wattpad (and AO3). I gained a small number of readers writing and posting fanfiction for the Locked Tomb Tri(?)logy, even though I marketed it absolutely terribly.
Just keep writing. Keep writing, keep posting, and keep making sure everyone who follows you knows you write. And keep writing because you want to. There's no better advice than that.

QUICK PSA TO NEW PARTICIPANTS!
FIRST: The Drabbles Collective is a side account - the main one is @fromthechaoticmind !
I do like every post that tags @thedrabblecollective , so I am asking you to please not report me! (I promise I'm not weirdly spamming you!)
Y'all also do not have to follow me, but I want people to know it's the same person appearing in your activity feed. 😅
SECOND: I schedule your drabbles to reblog and I use the auto queue feature to space them out. (I have a full time job, so I tend to get on once or twice a day and do as much as I can in one go.) Everyone's post gets reblogged, I promise. Depending on how many entries are for that day, it may just take a little longer for yours to appear.
THIRD: You will notice your post is reblogged with a funky looking tag we've created to help people find entries after the fact. There will be a list of those tags on a master list we will link on the main post.
LASTLY: You are all wonderful, beautiful writers, and I am so thankful you have taken up this challenge! Thank you for making the world a little brighter with your stories.
Feel free to pop into the ask or DM if you need anything!
Happy Writing, and let the May challenge begin!
~ The Drabble Team

Welcome! One at a time, please. And no biting.
After being inspired by @making-you-in-spore, @makingyourfavindti, and my general love of scrying up fandragons, I've decided to make this silly little gimmick blog! Now, it's time to answer some frequently asked questions. I'd recommend reading through this all before sending in a submission.
How are you doing this/What is Flight Rising?
Flight Rising (or FR for short) is a browser game where you collect dragons. I use the Scrying Workshop's Predict Morphology feature to create the base dragon, then I give them clothes with the Dressing Room.
What's that gibberish at the bottom of each post?
In case anyone wants to recreate the guys I make, I share the dragon's breed, gender, colours, genes, and what apparel I used below. If y'all DO make one of my scries into a real dragon, I'd love to see it!
What’s your uploading schedule?
As of November 20th 2024, I set up a queue that uploads once every three hours or so, for a grand total of five posts a day. However, this is liable to change in the future. And depending on my motivation, I might miss a few windows.
When does the inbox open?
My inbox opens in the morning on Fridays, and closes in the evenings on Sundays. I do this manually (I'm three hours behind UTC), so I apologize if I'm a little bit late/early.
What tags do you primarily use?
#fave scry (self explanatory)
#not a scry (anything that isn't a scry)
#not my scry (for sharing other people's scries that I like)
#my scry (for sharing scries I made without an ask first)
#remade scry (for scries that I've remade for whatever reason)
#realized scry (for actual recreations of my scries on FR)
#scry help (need help with scrying your own dragons? I'll tag those kinds of posts with this)
Be warned that I will be including images of whatever character/thing I do, including body horror, creepypastas, etc. If you are uncomfortable with those, then please block/ignore posts with the #unsettling scry tag.
Why do you not use skins/accents/this one breed/etc?
I try to not use skins/accents since it's hard to find exactly what I'm looking for, but will still use them on occasion. Also I just find certain poses kinda ugly, unfortunately cough cough female mirror. However, if you want me to use a certain breed/gene/colour/etc, then feel free to tell me in your ask!
What's your PFP?
A scry of V2 from Ultrakill
What won't you do/why did you ignore my submission?
You'll find a list of things I will/won't scry below the cut. That's the #1 reason why I might ignore your post. Also please keep in mind that I’m one person, and also in college. I don’t necessarily do requests in order, either.
Who are you, anyways?
You can call me Drako! She/Her pronouns, please :)
I WILL do:
OCs
Characters from just about anywhere (though there are some exceptions. See below.)
Real people (actors, celebrities, yourself, etc)
Basically anything. I'm not kidding. You want me to turn your bowl of mac and cheese into a dragon? I'll do it. Just keep in mind the previously stated exceptions :3
I WON'T do:
Requests where you don’t tell me the media. You can be mildly vague/funny with the character name, but you gotta tell me where they’re from.
Anything involving IRL politics, tragedies, etc
Anything from a blatantly NSFW/fetish-y media. Mature-rated media and media with LIGHT adult content are alright, though. If you’re unsure, feel free to ask me!
Anything DSMP, Harry Potter, or South Park related
I swear I didn't just copy and paste from makingyourfaveindti. I just don't feel comfortable doing those things, either.

Note
is there a reason you sometimes like a posted microfic to one of your prompts but don't reblog it?
Hi there -- we reblog all of the prompt submissions we're tagged in! We use Tumblr's queue feature to schedule them. If your post has been liked, that means it has been added to our queue for reposting and you should see it soon! - citrusses (for the mods)

What's Next?
Millie's BC was just a quick little gameplay to explore the new pack so it did go quite fast but I had so much fun and learned so much of the new features.
While that was posting, I started to create a new base save for myself since I recently did a CC cleanout. All of my townies were bald or missing shirts. So I realized I needed to recreate them all using mostly in game items (aside from skin details, make-up, and some accessories - ya know things that won't make them look WILDLY naked if I took them out of game.)
So I started sharing the townie makeovers because I was having a creative blast making them. All this to say:
TLDR: I remade all the townies and so what is in the queue now is all of those makeovers.
Your regularly scheduled content of Princess Legacy and my NSB will return once my base save is complete. So please enjoy seeing and learning more about those townies.

Since we have an influx of people coming in from twitter and discussing the whole culture of retweets vs. reblogs between the two sites, I'm going to take a moment here for some
Queue Propaganda
First off, what is the queue?
It's a posting mechanic that you can customize for yourself so that rather than immediately reblogging something, you can arrange for it to be posted at a later time. Your queue on tumblr can fit up to 1000 posts! Wow!
Why would I want to do something like that?
There are lots of reasons! For me, I like the idea of having something that consistently posts throughout the day for my followers in different time zones. I also like to support artists by reblogging, but I don't want to spam their notifications all at once and create an impenetrable wall of reblogs from the same artist on my dashboard, and the queue allows me to distribute those reblogs over a longer period of time, basically giving said art a more extended period of circulation. The queue also has a 'shuffle' function, so if you have a whole bunch of reblogs from one person, you can 'shuffle' it with other items in your queue so your dash has a bit more variety. If you're an artist, you can also set up your blog to reblog your own works so that they can show up on feeds at a later time. It can also be useful if you're reuploading a bunch of your art from twitter onto here and maybe don't want to dump it all at once.
Do we have to have a queue?
You do not! You can come online and spam reblog a bunch of jackshit or whatever suits you! I just think it's a nice feature!
Is there queue etiquette?
Nothing heavily enforced, but a lot of people will use a queue tag (often something quirky and specific to their blog) to indicate when their blog is posting from their queue, which also doubles as a 'hey just because I'm posting doesn't mean I'm online' sort of message. Some people will have a silly queue-specific pun for their queue tag, and others will just tag their queue with 'q,' it's really up to personal taste. You can schedule as many or as few queue posts a day to suit your tastes.
What's up with the post scheduling? Is that the same thing?
It's in a similar category, but it's more specific. When you schedule a post, that's basically set at the time you set it to post at, regardless of what's in your queue. The post is visible in your queue, but it stays fixed at the date you scheduled for it, regardless of what you add to your queue or how many times you shuffle it. This is very useful if you have content or reblogs meant for specific events and holidays!
Okay but what is the general vibe around queues? Do people like or dislike when you queue their posts as opposed to immediately reblogging them?
A queue *is* a reblog. There is a bit of a joke with queue users on this site where it's like "I'll see if they like my post within 6-8 business days" but it really is a useful form of posting because it extends the sort of... digital shelf life of content. No one is insulted if they see you reblogged your post with a queue tag. A reblog is a reblog, regardless of what time it pops up on the dash. No pressure.

🪧 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 🪧
Tumblr media
Requests: currently closed 🐢 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 🐢 Last Updated: 6/19/2025
Tumblr media
✍️ What I will write ✍️
Requests for stories/headcanons featuring Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey. Either solo introspective stuff, platonic/family-dynamics, or Turtle Brother(s) x Female/Gender Neutral Reader. I also can do poly relationships, like Leo x Reader x Raph, for example.
I will write about the following iterations:
ROTTMNT
TMNT 2003
TMNT Bayverse
TMNT 2012
TMNT 2007
And the following genres:
Fluff (from slight fluff to tooth-rottingly sweet if you want)
Angst (including the bad future timelines, stories dealing with death, etc.)
Smut (almost anything from vanilla to kinky™)
General (somewhere in-between the above genres? 🤷🏻‍♀️)
My default is writing everyone aged-up, especially in mature situations! So the characters are all adults. Let's not get weird here, okay?
Tumblr media
🚫 What I won't write 🚫
Any TMNT iteration that isn't currently listed above. (Might consider more in the future!)
Non-human Reader (though human-like races with human forms are okay, like demons/yokai, vampires, etc.)
Turtlecest/TCest/Incest in general (it's just not my thing, sorry!)
Requests that focus on any other character but the main turtles and the Reader, like April, Casey, etc. But they can still be mentioned or a part of the story!
Ships other than Turtle Brother x Reader.
Male Reader (maybe in the future!)
Extreme gore
Underage characters in sexual situations, pedophilia, etc.
Rape/Abuse/Sexual Assault. Dubious consent and consensual non-consent, however, is fine. (But do make sure you know the difference between these terms before you request them!)
Anything else not listed here that I don't feel comfortable with
Tumblr media
📝 Rules 📝
I only accept requests for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at this blog.
I reserve the right to decline any request that I'm not comfortable with for any reason.
Send your request with as many details as you can (TMNT iteration, character(s), genre, etc.) to my ask box. The more information you provide, the better I can tailor things to your request.
If you don't specify the gender you want me to write the Reader, I will choose one myself. I often tend to default to a female reader.
If you neglect to state which TMNT iteration you want written about, I'll choose randomly from my list.
One request per ask. (You can send multiple asks, but please keep them separate.)
I will not accept anonymous NSFW requests of any kind! You must have an account that clearly states your age because I don’t fancy writing smut or any hardcore content for minors. 🙅‍♀️
Do not send me a direct message with your request; it will be ignored! Use the ask box, please, so I can keep things sorted.
Don't go spamming or bugging me with your request, or about how long it will take to complete. I write for fun, but I also have a life outside of fandom. And life has a way of getting busy, so I will finish it as soon as I am able. (Note: My own stories/fics will always take priority over requests.)
Check my works in progress page to see how many requests are in the queue/in-progress. (I schedule them to post every couple days btw) If your request hasn’t been posted yet, be patient and wait. Then, if it’s still not yet posted, Tumblr may have eaten your ask; feel free to send it to me again as long as asks are open. But please don’t spam it!
And most importantly, be polite and respectful!

★ AUCTION WEEK INFO ★
We’re partly through Day 5, which means we only have about two more days until the auction is over! Keep track of all the auctions you’re eyeing, and don’t forget to bid before the deadline.
We want to thank everyone who has been bidding on our wonderful golden needle auctions. We started yesterday with 39 needles, and now we’re down to 29. That’s incredible. Of those remaining, almost half consists of fic auctions, so go bid on our lovely writers!
As we’re entering the final days of Auction Week, we’d like to help creators promote themselves. Here are some tips to ensure that as many people find out about your auction(s) as possible:
Reblog your auction post if you haven’t done so yet. You can find your post on our list of creators. Elaborate on ideas/prompts that you'd love to work on and your strengths as a creator, and share the post on Twitter, Discord, and any other social media platform you’re on so that more people know about the great causes you’re supporting with your offering(s).
If you reblogged your post earlier in the week, do so again in the final days/hours leading up to the auction closing time. Some people may not have seen your first reblog, or they may have forgotten about it as it’s been a few days since it crossed their dash. Consider queueing your reblogs (click the post to reblog and on the drop-down menu on the “Post” button, click “Add to queue”) or scheduling them to be posted at specific times throughout the day, so your followers in different time zones aren’t left out (click the post to reblog and on the drop-down menu on the “Post” button, click “Schedule” and choose a time).
Talk to people on our Discord server. Don’t be shy! Everyone’s nice and we love having new people show up every day. Many of our creators have found new bidders this way and made some new friends while they were at it. Don't forget about our creator–bidder #matchmaking channel, where bidders can post ideas they’re looking for creators to fill. Creators can also use matchmaking to get their name out there and tell people they're open to doing things beyond what they described in their auction listings! If you're not on Discord, you can still take part. See our matchmaking page for more info.
Remind people that you're open to group bids if you indicated that on your auction listing. Are you open to making sequels of existing fics or expanding on a universe you created? Did you hear that someone has an exciting prompt for you but doesn’t have the budget to bid on your auction? This is a great way for people to get involved even if they don’t have much money to spare (chipping in $1 or $5 to a pool can make a big difference), and you’re helping raise more money for charity. It’s a win-win.
Thanks for a phenomenal week so far, and see you tomorrow for Day 6!

Scheduled Stories on Story Finder
The Up-coming Stories page on my external website Story Finder has never been this full before! That's because I've written so much but posted at a slower pace than I've produced in the past few weeks. There's a queue of hot (and fun) stories to come.
This page is the best way to know exactly what's coming and when, across all series, so unless you want to be surprised you should bookmark it.
Story Finder as a whole is also a great way to find and explore old stories from the archives. Of course there's my Master List post here on Tumblr, but on Story Finder you have lots more ways to find stories you'll enjoy. I also update Story Finder very quickly, unlike the Master List which is only updated once a month or so.
For example, on Story Finder you can:
Browse stories by group & idol – find your bias and the stories I've written about them.
Browse by your favorite sex positions.
Browse by categories, like those that contain female orgasms, are set outdoors, feature cumshots, involve multiple idols, or take place in public/where there's a risk of getting caught.
Find out what stories are most popular.
Browse by intensity of the sex – are you looking for something sweet and innocent or wild and rough?
Browse by word count – short and to the point or longer with fluff?
Check the status of your requests.
...and more!

so hypothetically if I finished a fic for Bellara Week, but also it's technically written for tomorrow's prompt, is there any rules about posting it early? (I am excited) 👀
Hi! We’re so glad you’re excited; we’re excited to see what you have created too! It is easier for those of us running the blog — as we have multiple mods that watch it at various times of the day/week — when folks post on the day of the prompt or after. That way we don’t lose track of your work, and can make sure it gets shared! Several of us are excited too and, once a work was done, used the “schedule post” feature to queue it up in advance to post as soon as the new day arrived.
All of that being said, technically there is no rule. It just might mean something falls through the cracks when we are reblogging and sharing folks’ stuff.
Thanks so much for reaching out and for your excitement and participation during Bellara Week!

Site Update - 2/9/2024
Tumblr media
Hi Pillowfolks!
Today is the day. Post Queueing & Scheduling is finally here for everyone. Hooray! As always we will be monitoring closely for any unexpected bugs so please let us know if you run into any.
Tumblr media
New Features/Improvements
✨ *NEW* Queue & Schedule - One of the most highly requested features has finally arrived at Pillowfort. Users can now effortlessly Queue or Schedule a post for a future time.
Queue helps keep your Pillowfort active by staggering posts over a period of hours or days. Just go to your Settings page to set your queue interval and time period.
How to add a post to your queue:
While creating a new post or editing a draft, click on the clock icon to the right of the “Publish” button and choose “Queue.” Then click “Queue” when you’re ready to submit the post.
Schedule assigns a post a specific publishing time in the future (based on your timezone you’ve selected in Account Settings). How to schedule a post:
While creating a new post or editing a draft, click on the clock icon to the right of “Publish” and choose “Schedule.” Enter the time you wish to publish your post, click on “Submit” and then click “Schedule.”
How to review your queued & scheduled posts:
On the web, your Queue is available in the user sidebar located on the left side of the screen underneath “Posts.” (On mobile devices, click on the three line icon located on the upper left of your screen to access your user sidebar.)
Note: the “Queue” button will only display if you have one or more queued or scheduled posts.
A CAVEAT: It is not currently possible to queue or schedule posts to Communities. We do intend to add this feature in the future, but during development it was determined that enabling queueing & scheduling to Communities would require additional workflow and use case requirements that would extend development time when this project has already been delayed, and so it was decided to release queue & scheduling for blogs only at the present time. We will add the ability to queue & schedule to Communities soon after the Pillowfort PWA (our next major development project) is complete.

“Hello, to all of those listening to this. My name is unimportant, and what is lies in what it is that I do. One week ago today, the world was met with a flurry…of cards.“
“Every man, woman, non-binary individual, and seemingly sentient soul upon this earth was given what we’ve elected to refer to as ‘Tarrow Cards’, with a title on the front and a single word on its back.”
“Regardless of age, your card appears to have given you a new fascinating ability, most of which the world has never seen before. The world is changing quickly, it seems. No matter your belief on the state of the world before that day, it is now impossible to deny the supernatural state of this landscape we all live within.”
“Over the past ten years, you’ve likely read about the experimental city being built over international waters in the Atlantic Ocean. In this past week, due to the abilities of certain individuals involved, we’re able to now announce the opening of said city, in one month’s time.“
“We will require no passports, and no qualifications for citizenship. We have food, shelter, optional employment, and anything else you may wish to find.”
“I’ve been studying these cards, and the changes humanity has gone through very carefully. And I can state now, without a shadow of a doubt…this is a change for the better.”
An announcement that all throughout the world heard. Through the radio, through the papers. You heard or read it. The world is changing. It’s for the better, then…?
Followed by an announcement that all throughout the world heard, but none remembered.
The voice echoed throughout the world, seemingly without a source, heard both everywhere and nowhere. Somewhere within all that nowhere, this voice reached a room, lit by a single computer monitor. And in that room, something listened.
“WOW! THAT’S A LOTTA WORDS TO SAY, ‘DO NOT TRUST ME, I PROBABLY SMELL!’”
“C'MON, ‘MY NAME IS UNIMPORTANT,’ ‘NO QUALIFICATIONS FOR CITIZENSHIP,’ ‘FREE FOOD,’ LIKE HELLO? RED FLAG? THAT’S SOME MONDO SUSPICIOUS SHIT.”
“HONESTLY IF THOSE CHUDS BELIEVE THAT, THEY SHOULD GO TOUCH GRASS. I DID IT ONCE. HATED IT. BUT IT WAS GOOD FOR ME! NOW I HAVE SPECIAL EYES THAT LET ME SEE THROUGH BULLSHIT LIKE THIS.”
“… EH, I COULD USE SOME ENTERTAINMENT! MIGHT AS WELL GRAB A FRONT ROW SEAT FOR THIS SHITSHOW.”
“NOW, I JUST NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET ANYWHERE.”
“THIS MIGHT TAKE AWHILE…”
One Week: Brand New Life is a discord based 20+ Danganronpa OC roleplay, featuring discord submission trials and an active, plot-relevant deadzone, allowing dead characters to continue to freely interact with the living if they wish. Our cast will be exploring their recently developed powers in an ever expanding city over international waters that you yourself will help define and build. Twenty characters from across the world will get to experience a unique, extended prologue that will cover one year of in-game time, before the actual MKG begins. We aim to bring you a potentially lighter, relaxed environment, both in and out of character; while still being following the typical killing game formula.
The game will feature a flexible 4 to 5 week schedule over 5 chapters, as well as a prologue and endgame, with trials that last several days to accommodate varying timezones and schedules. Our trial system will be submission-based over discord, allowing players to submit their trial posts directly to the server’s trial channel, while still managing a flexible queue. The game will allow for supernatural, alien, robotic, and fantastical characters, as well as normal humans - although no matter your character’s initial status, everyone will be experiencing a new power set, to spread the love! The game will not feature a mistrial system, but will pledge itself into working dutifully with its murder teams to create cases that are both satisfyingly difficult, as well as ultimately solvable, without pushing cast nor killer unnecessarily far.  APPS OPEN / APPS CLOSE 3/10!

Hi Neema! I hope you're having a good week so far.
I have a question. So I know that new requests will be released months later, and I have a cute idea for a Christmas oneshot. So when would be the right time to send it in for it to drop around mid-december? In two months maybe?
Hi there! I'd actually recommend sending your request in now—I can schedule it to post right around Christmas using Tumblr's scheduling feature, which lets me set the exact date and time. Since the blog keeps growing, I can’t predict how full my queue will be in a couple months, and by then, it might already be packed past the holidays.
Of course, you’re welcome to wait and send it in around fall if that works better for you. Just keep in mind that during busy periods, there’s a higher chance it could get buried under everything else, especially if I don’t have regular access to my desktop. Right now is a good time since I’m only getting about 1–5 requests a day, so things are still manageable!

"Thank you for joining me, y/n."
You looked up from your tea, giving Jungkook a soft smile. The two of you grew very close recently, often going on little dates to the various small restaurants around Seoul. This one, in particular, was your favorite- it was all cute and pink and had amazing decorations to take photos with. Jimin had introduced you to the small cafe, as it was a favorite of his.
Sometimes the other members would join the two of you for lunch, but Jungkook was always there. Every Tuesday at 13:00, you'd get a text from him telling you to meet him outside. He would wait for you no matter the weather, and greet you with a small and a side hug. You would never admit it, but you found the way he treated you attractive. How consistent it was, how he would even be slightly dressed up, how he always listened deeply to you and actively engaged in conversations- it was everything you needed.
Jungkook was a gentleman.
"I think this should be the last snow of the season," Jungkook remarked as the two of you exited the building. "Spring is coming soon- it's almost April."
"I hope so," you said, staring up at the snow gracefully falling towards the earth. A small flake landed on the tip of your nose. "I love spring. It feels like new beginnings."
Jungkook's hand brushed yours, and you moved your hand away out of instinct. You looked down at his hand, and then up at his face. He blushed from the bitter cold before meeting your eyes. This time, he grabbed your hand with purpose and continued the walk back as if nothing happened.
"Jungkook," you quietly protested, but never let go of his hand. "Someone could see."
"Let them."
You kept looking around to see if someone was watching, but everyone around you kept moving along with their day. No one paid the two of you any mind. You looked down at your feet and blushed.
The comeback was only a week away. Every day felt painfully long and busy, yet time always seemed to fly by. There just weren't enough hours in the day to do everything that you wanted. You sat in the lounge alone, now lovingly dubbed your 'office' by your coworkers because you were the only one to ever be there. They all knew you would be in there, so coworkers were always in and out asking you questions. Of course, you would always answer them and have a quick chat with a smile, but once they left your demeanor would switch. Working a more corporate-type job always left you wondering why some conversations couldn't have just been an email. Human interaction wasn't always necessary.
The schedule for today had been posted. By 11:00 you needed to upload the teaser music video for BTS' new single from the album. You thanked whoever created the queue feature for most social media sites, allowing you to automatically post something right on time with ease. Having to have all social posts on different sites go up at the same time without it was stressful.
After queuing everything up to post, you leaned back on the couch, closing your eyes for a moment to just breathe. Your eyes soon grew heavy as you went in and out of consciousness. Namjoon looked down at his phone. He grew more and more concerned and worried as you continued to miss his calls. After the fifth attempt, he began walking to the lounge he knew you were in.
He could see you through the window as he walked up to the door. You were curled up on the couch in the fetal position. Namjoon could tell you were out cold- completely dead to the world. He quietly opened the door, tiptoeing his way over to you.
Gently, he shook your shoulder to try to wake you. You groaned in protest before suddenly realizing you fell asleep. Your eyes snapped open and you shot up from the couch.
"Good morning, sleepyhead."
"Oh my god, what time is it?" You asked, shaking your computer mouse to wake your laptop. The screen lit up with notifications of missed meetings and the current time- 13:32.
You had missed lunch with Jungkook.
"Woah, calm down," Namjoon sat down next to you, putting a reassuring arm over your shoulder. You tensed up but eventually relaxed into it. You just needed the grounding the new weight on your shoulders gave you.
"It's fine. You've done enough work today," Namjoon kept trying to calm you down, your heartbeat slowly going back to normal along with your breaths.
"I had a meeting with Jungkook at-"
"I know, I know. He's busy with dance practice right now." Namjoon removed his arm and stood up. "I think you should go home and rest. You did well. I'll walk you home."
Namjoon had such a calming presence, you thought to yourself. It was in the tone he spoke in as well as his words. He was much older and wiser than you, and out of anyone you took his advice to heart. While he looked intimidating on the outside, he had the purest heart and wisest soul.
"You work too hard," Namjoon stated as the two of you walked through the building. "With the comeback and all, I think we all need a good rest once it's all done."
"You're one to talk," you said, lightly elbowing Namjoon in the side. "I think you guys are overworked. Once the album comes out, my workload lightens. You seven still have performances, concerts, and a world tour after."
Namjoon chuckled at your statement. He knew it was hard and stressful, especially with the tour coming up in May, but it was nothing they hadn't done before. You, on the other hand, were completely new to this. While school taught you social media marketing, they never taught you just how stressful it would be managing the social media accounts for the most famous idol group in the world. Nothing could have prepared you for this.
The weather finally seemed to liven up the past few days. The air was no longer bitter cold, snow no longer littered the ground, and you could see the sprouts of future flowers. It smelt fresh outside, and you just felt an overwhelming sense of joy from the changing of the seasons.
You lead Namjoon down to your basement studio apartment. From the look on his face, he was rather shocked at just how tiny the space was. There was just enough room for the two of you to comfortably stand in the kitchen together.
"Thank you for walking me home, Joon." You smiled at him as you sat down on your sofa bed. The older man just continued to look around at your barren apartment.
"You know, you can stay at my place anytime you'd like," he offered, doing a double take when he spotted the molding kitchen counters. "I'm rarely there, and it has a beautiful view of the Han River."
"Oh, thank you," you said and politely declined his offer. You don't know what you would have done with a huge apartment, and you felt like staying in his apartment would just be too kind of him. You had a place to sleep and live, and you were happy.
"Or just come visit the dorm again- you're always welcome there."
Many nights now you had crashed on their couch, usually after a long night of gaming and drinking. Occasionally you would do something work-related, like film videos or discuss future posting schedules. One time, you had to sit in on a livestream alone to make sure everything went smoothly. You usually had a partner with you, but the late-night, post-show live was a spur-of-the-moment decision.
Namjoon ruffled your hair before leaving. You smiled at the door after his exit.
You had been working at HYBE for about six months now. In six months, you managed not to be fired, get a promotion, and make seven amazing friends. How lucky could you be? Namjoon was like a smart and kind older brother. Seokjin and Hoseok were so, so silly yet somehow maintained a level of strictness and authority. You could always rely on Yoongi to give you unbiased opinions as well as just someone to listen to your problems without judgment. Taehyung and Jimin always managed to get you out of your shell whether you liked it or not. And Jungkook, he especially made you feel wanted.
Jungkook. Whenever you thought of him, something inside you fluttered. He had always quite literally looked at you differently than the others. His eyes never seemed to leave you, and whenever your eyes would meet you'd have to look away with a blush. He knew what he wanted from you, and you think you know as well.
You all were just friends, of course, but you couldn't help but think deeply about their actions. What exactly were their intentions? You closed your eyes with a sigh. In your mind, you pictured them. Their eyes, mouths, hands. You became intimate with them over the months, kilometers more than what an employee relationship should be. It wasn't your fault you thought so deeply about their every move, wondering if there could be something more.
A college friend of yours from America had multiple boyfriends while in school, and they were all aware of each other. It was abnormal, but everyone seemed happy and fulfilled in the relationship. Polyamory, she had called it. You couldn't help but picture yourself in her position- seven boyfriends who all loved and cared for you. No matter what you looked like, or what you did, they just wanted you for you.
You wanted to feel wanted.
You wanted their wandering touches, their reassurances, their love. You craved it. Never once had a man looked at you with desire and love, making you feel less than the other girls who had perfect bodies, perfect personalities, and perfect men. Just once, you wanted to feel what unconditional love meant.
A tear slowly rolled down the side of your face. In your heart and mind, you knew they didn't think of you like that. You were just a staff member to them, a friend at most.
