𝗙𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱.

( five times the receiver watched the sender while they were working or doing something ) [jinju & goth] @rimefiles

𝟏) 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝.

A whooshing and groaning cannot be heard over the blaring of the music echoing across a concert hall. A packed venue for an Idol group known as Rogue suppresses the sound of the Police Box materializing within the rafters of the concert hall. The door swings open, and what can only be described as a vagrant exits the box. Wearing a black cotton coat that cuts at the knees, over a darker red jacket and a black sweatshirt— as well as black jeans and lace-up boots, The Doctor steps out. Holding his Sonic Screwdriver in his hand, the red light on the end makes a steady and rhythmic beeping. He seems disgruntled by whatever it is he's tracking as he shuts the police box doors behind them, the click echoing out to confirm to him the doors are locked. 

"This is the last time I chase Mogwai... who even keeps Mogwai in their shop?" He mumbles, tracking life signatures as he crosses the rafters above the stage. Wreathed in shadow, save for the beeping of his screwdriver, The Doctor continues mumbling— "Oh yeah, let me sell you a pet troll, but remember— don't water it! And no snacks after midnight—" A rattling above him causes him to shut his mouth immediately as he takes his hand off the activation button, his screwdriver turning off. "Sounds like that might be my guy—" He starts trying to get his eyes onto anything he can see before his eyes look down at the stage. His head tilts softly when he sees the performers down on the stage.

His eyes gravitated toward the one in pink, naturally. Ruby eyes blink softly at her, momentarily captured by the singing and the choreography of the performers before suddenly a snapping causes his head to snap up. There, in the rafters, is a Gremlin— who's just snapped a stage light. The Doctor watches it fall and crash onto the stage. The music stops, and there's screaming. He can hear security rushing their way up to the rafters. He exhales, watching the Mogwai scuttle up into a nearby vent,

Great. Just great​​​​​​.

2) 𝐹𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑦 𝑚𝑒𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑦𝑜𝑢 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒.

Well, that was an embarrassing Tuesday— but! He had managed to capture all the Mogwai, returning them to their rightful habitat somewhere deep and far away in space. Now, he was back in the 18th century. A meteor had fallen through time and crashed somewhere in... 

He stopped, standing outside of the box. A village somewhere in the middle of a bamboo forest? That could be anywhere! He hummed, shutting the Police Box behind him. Bouncing from a 21st-century Idol concert to an 18th-century fishing village was probably a culture shock to some, but he seemed unphased by the rapidly shifting environments. Questions about the environment had led him up into the mountains, where sources say the meteor had crashed. It was a long walk! He liked the fresh air, though. He hummed, rather quietly as he finally reached the peak of the mountain. 

There was a well at the peak of the mountain, and The Doctor had found himself distracted by a woman— sitting by the well. He blinked, tilting his head. Wasn't that the... woman from the Idol band? She looked up toward him, which prompted him to quickly hide behind something. He didn't think she'd seen him, but even then— something loud in the forest seemed to scare her off. 

Something to do with his meteor, perhaps?

3) 𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒅.

Not a meteor. Sontarans. Once again, trying to interfere with the course of human history. It was annoying to deal with those potato heads. The Police Box had parked on the corner of a street, back on Earth. After encountering a strange woman twice, in two different periods, he'd felt something drawing him toward a music shop. What was the year? 2030? 2035? He hadn't kept much track. The phones were slimmer, from what he could tell. That seemed annoying. Also, they do a lot of holograms, now. There seemed to be one outside the music shop he was walking to. His eyes found a sign.

Record signing? Real Rogue holograms? Rogue? Like from that comic book—

He looked past the crowd, seeing the hologram members. His eyebrows squeezed tightly in confusion. Rogue? Wait a second! That's the IDOL group with that pink-haired lady in it! Really?! That's three times! In the same week! That's gotta be a record. He's finding himself getting more and more frustrated. The store's gonna be CROWDED! How's he supposed to do his research now? It's okay— It's okay.

He'll just come back last week.

4) 𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒌𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈.

So he had wanted to come back to the music store on Wednesday like he'd said— try and grab it in that same-day window (really, time travel is super convenient) but he'd picked up a distress signal from the moons of Alpha Meeson, and well— he'd gotten distracted helping out an old friend. Turns out Slitheen was trying to scam the inhabitants of the Meeson Moon out of their land. It was a whole ordeal, one he didn't want to think about. So! Thursday. A week before Rogue's record signing event. 

The Police Box clicks open, and The Doctor heads toward the shop after locking her up. This time, he can tell! No crowds! Just a woman wearing casual clothing, accompanied by some business-looking people— she's wearing a ball cap, but pink strands peak out— Hey wait a second!!! 

"Are you kidding me?" He cursed quietly, from afar. "She's the one that booked the venue? Don't they have an agent? Good lord. Talk about being a go-getter." He mumbled under his breath. That's it! He's gotta talk to this woman! But not now, she's busy. You never interrupt a woman while she's working. That much he knows. He's just gonna try to take the most inconspicuous scan of her temporal signature from afar— and hope nobody saw that little red light from under his sleeve. "Creepiest thing I've ever done, for sure." The Doctor mumbled on his way back to the TARDIS, as he checked the readings on his screwdriver. 

In the TARDIS, he clicked various switches and thanks to the reading of that pink-haired lady's temporal signature— he can see here that on Friday night, she'll go to a private lounge. Great! Perfect time. Just... stroll up to her at the bar... how hard can it be?

5) 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈.

Psychic paper helps him get into a whole lot of places. Health and safety is a good excuse, he finds, to help him get into places. However, he's gotta keep his mind sharp. He enters the lounge. It's like one of those 1920 speakeasies. Or... maybe it is a 1920s speakeasy. The TARDIS isn't a reliable machine, as much as she is his home and his life— maybe he scanned a Friday night from some weird era. Whatever it was, he was inside now— and right there... at the bar. 

He gets suspicious about fate. Whenever it brings him to someone, he feels like the universe is about to put him through hell. However, his curiosity's just too damn loud to not approach her. He exhales. All he's gotta do is say something... smooth... right? Socializing. Humans do it all the time. He just approaches the bar, sits next to the pink woman he's accidentally been following through time, and—

"You're immortal, aren't you?"

Nailed it.

─「夜兰」─  the application passed to her actually brought back memories. it was nostalgic to read through his HANDWRITING and could hear exactly what tone of voice he would have answering each of them. the liyuan spy crossed her arms, leaned her supple frame back and aquatic hues landed upon that knowing smug grin he had plastered upon his lips. oh, he knew what game he was playing, wasn't he ? look how PROUD he was. she couldn't help a soft giggle from her end. can't fault the man for being confident.

                " i vaguely remember receiving something like this a year ago. do you ? " feigned innocence was betrayed by a KNOWING LOOK she was giving him. other than the fact that yelan's memory was impeccable, him being the only man who managed to break his way through her facade made it easy to conclude he was the only valentine she would ever need. had it already been A YEAR ? time sure flies.

                funny thing is, she also recalled telling him to put a ring on it when he claimed they were MARRIED. and now — well, perhaps that was the reason of his smug smile. the band with crimson gem sat right upon the center wrapping around her fourth finger. who would've thought he had heeded her advice. look at them now, a year later. it didn't really matter how long it had been, their FEELINGS for each other had never changed, only growing stronger. walking towards him, slender digits reached out to cup his cheek, tracing under his RUBY ORBS she had fallen for time and time again.

                " accepted. do you think you still have it in you to surprise me with a date, my doctor ? "

The VNAs and EDAs are a pretty niche corner of Doctor Who fandom these days so its really fucking cool to get more love for these stories and this era of the series (although they haven't adapted any BBC books yet). I have basically no local support network bc I'm frequently too sick to go out and socialize. my father is disabled and my relationship with my mom is...strained, so they're both limited in how willing or able they are to help me

After a very narrow victory of 55% against Loki, the doctor stands to fight another round! Can he pull off more victories? (I joked that Ten v Loki would turn Tumblr feral, but damn XD. I even saw some very cute penguin art celebrating this victory. Loved it <33)

Danny Phantom beat out Leo Valdez! (Ngl this one genuinely surprised me. I thought the Hoo/Leo fandom had more of a chokehold on Tumblr) but Danny proves he’s not one to be trifled with!

Shego absolutely wrecking Raven from Teen Titans. We do love an evil goth queen who can burn me to a crisp and still have me saying Mommy.

A wheat field. Nowhere in No Man's Land, that's for sure. It's just a wheat field, stretching as far as the eye can see. There is some type of civilization in the distance, but it isn't important. What's important is that there's a blue sky, with a different moon, and different clouds. This is a different world from what someone would be familiar with. Perhaps a colony planet, artificial. The wheat might not even be natural. Everything might be alien. 

Including the POLICE PUBLIC CALL BOX, which lands in the wheatfield, clearing out a bit of space before the wheat hugs its wooden, textured surface. The lantern on top flashes the entire time it fades in and out of reality before it finally materializes in full... appearing and solidifying there as if it had always been a part of the scenery. The doors open inward, and two people step out onto the soil.

"See?" The raven-haired Doctor asks, red eyes scanning the area as he leans against the doorway of his police box, arms crossing over his chest before he exhales firmly. "It goes anywhere." As if he had had to prove something to someone (mainly the person he was with.) Not to mention that the ship was bigger on the inside, but he's noticed these days that that inspires less and less shock and awe. This is quite sad, as transdimensional engineering is still something he considers to be a sight.

"Even...." He peaks outside of the box, to look around, "If she decides she doesn't want to land anywhere spectacular..." He mumbles. "Where even are we?" Maybe that last part shouldn't have been spoken aloud.

v funny to me how there's this general impression that like goths r really monotone and blasé and serious and don't do "ungothly" things like enjoy a little treat or go grocery shopping... has to be made up by ppl who have never encountered goths in the wild before bc every goth i know is like chatty and enthusiastic and squees over plague doctor plushies and geeks out over ttrpgs and body horror shit.... skipping around daintily eating ice cream and going "mmmm~" like that one video of h.r. giger....

Whooping, cheering, hollering, a chance for me to yell about my faves ❤️ here are my faves in no particular order:

Eddie Munson, Stranger Things - This one is obvious. He's a character I really connect with as someone who was also the school freak throughout most of my time at school. He also gives me big gender envy and I've never been so attached to a character like I am with Eddie.

Dorian Pavus, Dragon Age: Inquisition - I love this man to the moon and back. He's witty, funny, intelligent, handsome as hell, but most importantly he's an incredibly important character for me. A gay, POC character, who fights for what's in his heart and who he is regardless of what his countrymen back in Tevinter think of him. (Also fun fact they based him and some of his design on Freddie Mercury)

Sagacious Zu, Jade Empire: Ah, one of the first edgy sad men I had a crush on when I was younger. I love all of the Jade Empire characters, but Zu especially holds a place in my heart. He's also the first fictional character death I cried over.

Morgana, BBC's Merlin - I love Morgana. She's a great, complex character and her transition from good to villain will forever be iconic to me. Her whole character arc in the show and the way the writers sewed the seeds for her to become a villain very early on is what inspires me to write badass, morally grey women with the potential to become a villain if the story calls for it.

Solomon Wreath, Skulduggery Pleasant - Can't have a favourite character list without a character from my favourite book series! SP and the character of Solomon were my first introduction to necromancy and the concept that life and death flow into one another rather than being completely separate concepts. Even now, when I reread the books for what must be the millionth time at this point, he's still the one I loom forward to meeting again.

Bella Goth, The Sims franchise - She is beauty. She is grace. She disappeared in Sims 2 and I adore the lore surrounding her and what happened to her. Plumbella has some amazing videos on it and there's also a v cool Sims 4 Machina called Bella Goth Reborn on YouTube that is absolutely incredible and you should all watch it.

Vergil, Devil May Cry - This man. This man is hot. I love a hero to villain arc, but what I love more is a villain to ally arc. Vergil going from villain to ally in more than one game and his motivation being having the power he never had to save his mother as a child are I credibly interesting to me and what make his character more complex than a character such as Dante or Lady. Those layers that the fandom explores are what make me love him so much (also he's hot).

River Song, Doctor Who - Listen. She has me in a chokehold. She's a badass woman and the moment I first saw her onscreen I was in love. Getting to explore more of her character through watching the show amd having to wait for that pay off while trying to figure out who she was with the clues that we were given is one of the fondest memories I have of watching Doctor Who when I was younger.

Raikou Shimizu, Nabari No Ou - My favourite ever manga and honestly, hand on heart, the one manga I recommend to everyone. It's a beautiful manga and choosing a fave is difficult, but it has to be Raikou. He's once again a fascinating, multi-layered character, and I think he's a v good example of a character that appears to be a villain at first but at the end of the day is just trying to do what's best and make the world a better place just like the other teens and young adults in the manga are.

Giorno Giovanna, JJBA Vento Aureo - Giorno is the best Jojo you can't change my mind. Also the fact that had he been included in Part 6 of the manga the whole ending likely would've changed dramatically is smth I think about a lot. I adore Giorno's character and he is what made me enjoy Part 5 so much. I've even got a figure of him in my childhood bedroom and a poster of him in my uni bedroom. I often wonder what his relationship with his father would've been like had he not been killed off in Part 3 and if they'd ever met.
