Regulus touched down and hopped off his broom with barely concealed frustration. The game had been really close, just a twenty point difference, but the Gryffindor seeker had beaten him to the snitch by a hair. Nearby, his brother's team were loudly celebrating while his own were already making for the changing rooms.

"Don't," said Dorcas as she passed by. "I can hear your thoughts and it wasn't your fault. This is a team effort, and while we win together we also lose together."

"Right," said Regulus, more to appease his friend than anything.

She went ahead of him, probably to convey the same sentiment to the rest of her team as captain.

"Hey, that was a brilliant match."

Regulus turned to face James Potter, who was flushed and wind-swept and sweaty. His hair was always a bit more ridiculous after quidditch and Regulus found himself following the swooping curls with his eyes.

"Er," James said, following the silence that had been stretching between them, "I said-"

"I heard what you said, Potter."

"Right," said James, awkwardly pulling on his collar. "Well, you looked great up there." He started to turn back to the Gryffindor team, where Sirius was watching them while having a conversation with McKinnon.

"Which part?" asked Regulus.

James whipped back around. "Pardon?"

"Which part of me looked great?" clarified Regulus, taking slow steps toward the other boy.

"I saw you watching me," Regulus continued, getting right into James' personal space, looking up at him innocently. "Do you like how I ride my broom?"

James' cheeks bloomed to a deeper crimson. He couldn't seem to utter a word or look away. He swallowed audibly in the quiet between them.

"I, uh. Yes, um," James managed to croak out. He was standing stiffly, as if forbidding himself from stepping back. "You ride- uh, good."

"I ride well," Regulus corrected, relishing their closeness and the fact that he could feel the heat radiating from the other boy. James smelled good, like he had showered right before the match then gave it his all on the pitch. “I’ve been training a lot.”

“You, Regulus, fuck.” James sounded desperate, like he was more out of breath now than during the game.

“I could be persuaded,” hummed Regulus, thoroughly enjoying the way James’ eyes widened and his glasses began fogging up. Regulus leaned in to whisper in James’ ear. “If you meet me at midnight in the Astronomy Tower, we could ride under the stars.”

Regulus turned and strode towards the Slytherin changing room, leaving a spluttering James behind. It seemed he had won this match, after all.

Wait a damn minute…

I’ve noticed a LOT of parallels in rise directly correlating with the actions the boys and other characters take throughout the series. Not only that but seemingly everything is connected.

The powerful oni Karai’s father got the shredder armour from was one of the Krang. Plus, it’s likely that who was wreaking havoc on the Foot clan in the first place was the Krang. Which makes their worship of both the Shredder and Krang make more sense. Either a part of the Foot, eventually the entire clan started viewing the Krang as angered gods or overlords rather than evil genocide poster children, or this time was well documented within the foot clan but not well enough explained so the image of the Krang shifted throughout the years of the clan into what they are at the start of the movie, making them believe the key was something to obtain and use rather than protect.

That’s not even getting into the parallels between Karai’s actions in history/ the finale vs Leo’s in the movie which I might in a future post.

Wait, okay, so I was going through my wips last night and I found something that would later evolve into the death and taxes fic and the Gracie fic. It's just the general structure based on the space the show put between Buck and Eddie after the cemetery and that made me think about how we all wrote fics about bridging that gap during the hiatus and at first glance it seems like the show is ignoring the space they put between them. BUT I was looking at my reasoning for that space and they didn't fix it. A major part of the impact of the space comes from the way recovery and mixed feelings do A LOT of work to make sure BuckandEddie exist outside of the uniform. We have Buck just showing up at the house, we have Eddie and Chris chilling in the loft, we have the poker date, but after the cemetery they are still being besties, sitting too close on the engine, teasing Chim with the wedding march, but we no longer see them together outside of work, Buck isn't even with Eddie when they're at the hospital after the bridge. And I was thinking back to 7x01, they are still confined to work. Even the scene at the house, we don't see them interact. We know Eddie is there, but the situation is about Christopher. Buck didn't tell Eddie he broke up with his girlfriend. Eddie didn't talk to Buck about Chris having a date. Sure, we have a scene where they are talking, but it's about Christopher, they always push things aside over what's best for Chris and they are working. Buck asks Eddie to hang out and Eddie rejects the idea in favor of his girlfriend. We had the cemetery work as a breakup and then we had Buck being single and trying to start closing the gap and being shut off by Eddie. Very gently, but still shut off. And it got me curious if they even realize what they are doing. This whole we're fine with this one aspect of our relationship without actually addressing there might be a problem between them. Because it's kinda crazy the way the show is making a point that girlfriends are in their way. From Eddie's reactions to Natalia to the way Buck takes a second to control his expression when he thinks Eddie might've broken up with Marisol. I know I always say the show won't let them talk because there is no way of letting them talk without addressing how they feel about each other, but why would the girlfriends be a problem if they didn't have a problem with the other dating someone else? If they keep this up they might actually have to say the words. The whole "I don't want you to date anyone else" thing. Buck doesn't realize he already rejected Eddie and Eddie is trying to move on scenario canon when?????
