"Please don't call me that here. It's embarrassing." Y/N said.

"But you are my baby brother, and I want everyone to know it."

"Shouldn't you be bugging Scott or something?"

"I was, but Xavier told me I had to give my annoying brother a tour of the school." Peter grins. Y/N flipped him off.

They walked towards the gardens, and that's when Y/N caught sight of golden blonde hair in the afternoon sun. He was handsome. Tall. Blue-eyed. God, he was hot looking. Peter followed his gaze and frowns.

"Who's he?" Y/N asked.

"Warren. Warren Worthington the Third. Don't even think about it, Y/N." Peter warns.

"Too late. I want him." Y/N smiled as Warren waved at them.

this is basically just a bunch of toothachingly sweet & soft fluff for @kurt-nightcrawler !

“Hey baby!” Warren called, kicking his shoes off. You called back, and he kept talking, “Sorry I’m late! Scott and Bobby and I were hanging out.”

“No worries. Did you guys have fun?” You smiled, craning your neck to see him from the couch one he found his way into the living room. He walked to you, placing a soft kiss on your forehead.

“Of course we had fun,” Warren lifted your legs up, sitting down and putting your legs back on his lap, his wings draped over the back of the couch, “How about you? You feeling alright?”

“My head still hurts,” you shrugged, “But you always managed to make me feel better, Warren.”

“I’m glad,” he smiled back at you, and it was warm, and loving, and you couldn't help but sit up so you could curl up against him. He wrapped an arm around you, kissing your head again.

“You're so warm,” you hummed, hiding your face in his shirt. It was such soft fabric, and Warren smelled like clean laundry, and cologne, and whatever product he put in his hair. It was comforting.

Warren’s thumb rubbed slow circles on your skin, and he tucked his face against your hair, “I love you, you know that?”

“You keep reminding me,” you looked up to see his face, grinning as he kissed you again, “I love you too, cherub.”

He laughed a little at the nickname, a sweet pet name you had that had started as a joke. Originally making fun of him, the name quickly morphed into one of endearment, and it warmed his heart to hear you say it. It warmed his heart when you called him anything, or spoke to him, or even looked at him— you made him feel loved, and he loved you.

“You want me to make you something to eat?” He asked, his hand moving to instead play with your hair. You closed your eyes, deciding you deserved the soothing feeling.

“I’m fine, thank you,” you said, “I ate earlier. You're a sweetheart, you know that?”

“Oh, only for you,” Warren laughed a little, and it was lovely to hear. You were happy he was happy, “You make me a hopelessly romantic sappy lover boy.”

You nodded, kissing his neck gingerly, “And you're my hopelessly romantic sappy lover boy, you oversized pigeon.”

“I can't say it enough, (Y/N),” he shifted to wrap both of his arms around you, cuddling closer to you, “I love you. I love you so much.”

“And I love you so much,” you repeated, “You wanna put on a movie? I think we should just lay around and be lazy for the rest of the day. You don't get enough down time, cherub.”

“Would you mind grabbing the IcyHot?” He stood up, ruffling your hair as he did so, “I’ll put something on.”

“Are you gonna make me watch Blues Brothers again?” You whined playfully, standing up after him.

“It's a classic, alright? The Penguin, Cab Calloway, Arethra Franklin, the writing, the cinematography, you gotta love it, babe,” he put his hand over his heart, feigning offense, and then let you disappear from the living room after giving him a kiss.

You opened the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, snagging the tube of IcyHot. It was folded and smashed from someone squeezing the cream out with a fist, rather than flattening it. Someone, being Warren. As you made your way back to the living room, you smoothed over the tube, restoring it to something usable.

“I’m gonna make a pot of coffee, does that happen to fit your fancy?” Warren caught your attention, standing in the kitchen, leaning against the countertop. You could already hear the hum of the coffee maker.

“If we still have the nice creamer,” you nodded, a smiling painting your face when Warren held up the plastic container and shook it to let you know there was, in fact, creamer.

“C’mere,” Warren opened his arms, pulling you against his body once you stepped close enough, “I love you.”

“I love you,” you repeated, one hand snaking you to hold Warren’s face as you kissed his cheek, “How’s your back?”

“Oh, you know, the usual,” he shrugged, starting to sway side to side with you, “My back is sore and my shoulders hurt like a motherfucker.”

“I really think you should start doing yoga and walking more often. I know you've got these massive wings, but if they're just gonna make you sore, you should chill,” you closed your eyes as he buried his fingers in your hair, brushing through it carefully.

He rested his face against your head again and said, “What’s the point of having wings if you don't show off? If you do yoga with me, I’ll do yoga, but it’s not like I’m flying more often than I should.”

“I guarantee you that that’s a lie,” you backed away to take two mugs out of the cabinet— the one Warren always used, and your favourite— and set them beside of coffee maker.

“Ridiculous,” Warren waved his hand dismissively, taking the pot to pour coffee into the waiting mugs, “I’ve never once lied in my life. I’m a perfect man, who has never done anything wrong. You wouldn't be uselessly in love with me otherwise.”

“Uselessly?” You repeated, taking the creamer he had busted picked up to help yourself first, “Watch it, cherub, I’ll show you useless.”

Warren’s light laughter filled the room, enveloping the two of you in a sense of warmth you didn't often feel. The domesticity of making coffee together, of just standing around in the kitchen, was something beautiful. To be so close to him, and have him so close to you, like nothing could ever be wrong with the world, not while you were like this.

By the time Warren sat down on the couch, coffee in hand, his shirt was already off. He had his wings as far out of the way as possible so you had access to his shoulders. With the Blues Brothers playing on the tv, and Warren leaning forward with his eyes closed, you wordlessly started to massage the IcyHot into his skin.

“I owe you one,” he grunted, letting himself be gingerly pushed forward now and again by your thumbs.

“You say that every time, I’m gonna cash in one day and you’ll have to take me on a luxury tour of European landmarks,” you joked, eyes glancing to the TV once you got yourself into a rhythm.

The two of you sat in comfortable silence, laughing with the movie, making small comments to each other. Once you were done slathering him in IcyHot, Warren leaned against your shoulder. You welcomed it, in turn leaning against him.

“I love you,” you whispered, taking Warren’s hand to hold and rubbing the back of it with your thumb, “I’m glad we can just… sit around like this.”

Warren took a deep breath, but he didn't move, or speak very quickly. He was relaxed. He was happy. He wanted the moment to never end. He looked up at you, “It’s nice, isn't it? I’m glad you're here to sit around with me.”

A/N: i feel so bad this is hella short and high key trashed but i wasnt feeling inspired and i have so many other requests but i tried to get inspired it just wasnt happening i’m sorry ! but i hope you still enjoy 

Warren hated disco. This music just wasn’t his thing. He preferred to rock out to some classics rather than this new bullshit. He wouldn’t be caught dead in a disco club. Ever.

But, as much as Warren hated discos, he also loved (Y/n). And that’s how (Y/n), Warren, Jean, and Scott ended up at the disco off Canton street a few miles from the school. 

The school year was about to resume after spring break and the group figured they needed one last night out before they’d be swamped with homework and training. 

It had been Jean’s idea since she had found the place while shopping with Jubilee the weekend before. 

“Oh come on guys! A disco! It’ll be fun and a chance for us to be in the real world for a bit!”

Scott had said yes immediately, eager to spend a night out of the school with his girl. Warren took a bit more convincing. 

“No. Not my thing.”

(Y/n) pushed his shoulder, “Come on, War! It’ll be fun!”

He shook his head, “I don’t dance. Especially not to fucking disco.”

“Not even for me? One last adventure before class starts again?”

Warren let out a sigh, eyes on (Y/n), “Fine, just for you.”

“Whipped much?”

Warren’s head shot up, “Fuck off, Scott.”

(Y/n)’s hand was held tightly in Warren’s as they entered the club, following Jean and Scott’s lead, afraid of being separated by the crowd. The group made their way to the booth in the back. Scott moved to let them in while he went to get drinks. 

Warren’s eyes moved across the room, studying the people inside as if looking for a threat. 

“You okay?” (Y/n) squeezed Warren’s hand.

“Yeah, just looking around.”

(Y/n) nodded, “Looking for what?”

“Another gay couple. I don’t see-”

“Hey,” he squeezed Warren’s hand again, “It’s okay. We’re with Jean and Scott AND we’re X-Men, no one is going to fuck with us. And if they do-”

“We give ‘em hell.”

(Y/n) laughed, “Sure. Give ‘em hell.”

“I’ll give ‘em hell too!” Jean said loudly over the music. 

By the next song, Scott had returned with the drinks in hand, “I got some shots and a couple long island iced teas we can share. Everything is fucking expensive so just grabbed the cheapest shit I could find. Drink up!”

Jean nodded, grabbing a shot, “Last night of freedom before midterms! Let’s hear a toast!”

Scott grabbed a shot from the table, raising it to the ceiling, “To friends!”

Jean raised her’s, “To tequila!”

(Y/n) grabbed one, raising it above his head, “To disco!”

Warren grabbed the last shot, downing it quickly, “Fuck disco!”

The other three downed their drinks.

After a few drinks, Scott and Jean moving towards the crowded dance floor. (Y/n) stood up to follow suit, tugging on Warren’s arm.

“Come on! Let’s get out there!”

Warren hesitated, “Are you sure no one will say anything about us dancing up on each other?”

(Y/n) sat back down, looking into Warren’s eyes, “Who cares? Let them say shit. Fuck them! Don’t let assholes ruin our night out, okay? Let’s have some fun!”

Warren nodded, pressing a kiss to (Y/n)’s lips, “You’re right. Fuck ‘em!”

(Y/n) jumped up, grabbing Warren’s hand and leading them onto the floor. As the pair hit the dance floor, the Bee Gees came on over the speakers. They found Jean and Scott and danced the night away.

“Do you think this is all too much? What if he gets mad and says no?”

“Why would Warren get mad about you asking him to homecoming?” Jubilee asked, throwing groceries in the shopping cart.

“I mean the whole like, proposal thing… It’s a bit much… We’re not even a thing…”

Jubilee rolled her eyes and lazily pushed the cart forward. “We need baby carrots, regular carrots, kale, broccoli, and peppers.” You grabbed everything she listed off and set them in the cart. “Didn’t you guys kiss one time?”

“Yeah, at a bonfire party during a game of spin the bottle.”

“Did he protest about having to kiss you?”

“No.”

“Did he seem into it?”

“I don’t know. Everyone was watching us, plus it lasted for like, three seconds.”

She shrugged, “You should ask him to homecoming. He’s probably into you.”

“He’s probably not. It’s like straight girls… Super close and touchy and complimenting each other to the point where you can’t even figure out if they like girls or not.”

Jubilee squinted her eyes, “Has he done any of that?”

“No, but we kissed so…”

“God, you are a lost cause.”

You jokingly scoffed, “Says you! Ms. Lonesome Lesbian!”

Jubilee hit your arm. “Don’t call me out like that!”

You carried as many bags as you could to the kitchen, with Jubilee carrying some more.

“Who needs to train when it’s your turn to get the groceries?” you joked. Jubilee laughed in agreement.

You set your bags on the countertop, resulting in a loud thud.

“Hey, do you guys need help?” Warren asked.

Your heart fluttered for a moment. Maybe it’s because you were nervous about fucking up your friendship. Maybe it’s because you had a teeny weeny, itsy, bitsy, ginormous crush on him.

It was probably both.

Yeah— you decided as he flexed his biceps by carrying the remaining grocery bags— it was definitely both.

You got so close to telling him— asking him, multiple times, but you never did.

First off, your mind always railed off all the evidence telling you he was 100% straight— his crush he used to have on Jean, his obvious attraction for girls, and just his typical demeanor.

Sure, he was good friends with Alex and Jubliee, both queer mutants, but that didn’t mean anything. And sure, he didn’t object to kissing you during spin the bottle, but he didn’t exactly leap at the chance either. And maybe he sometimes had a playful, kind of flirty, teasing thing going on with you— but that was just him. Just Warren being Warren.

You went down to the lab, not even caring what Hank was doing Down there.

“Alex!” He looked up from his spot at the table, where he could do paperwork and watch Hank work on his next experiment.

“What’s up, (Y/N)?”

“I need some advice…”

“Is everything okay?”

“So, I’m really into this guy, and Jubilee has been pushing me to ask him to homecoming, but I’m really nervous and every time I get the courage to ask him, I back out because what if he says no and then things are weird between us. Or what if he says no and then I have to live with the pang of rejection leering over me like a dark cloud? I like him a lot, Alex.”

“Okay. Look, homecoming— when even is homecoming?”

“Two weeks from Saturday,” Hank responded.

“Right. Homecoming is in like two weeks. You still have plenty of time to ask—“

“No, no!” You cried. “That isn’t why I came down here. I need help because he’s probably straight and I don’t know what to do!”

“How can I help?” Alex asked dumbfoundedly.

“You can’t tell him any of this. At all.”

Alex nodded, “Yeah, of course.”

“Neither can you Hank.”

He chuckled, “Your secret’s safe with me.”

“Okay… Wooooh…” You sighed. “Ugh… Okay… I have a crush on Warren.”

A week prior

“I’m not gay.” Warren defended.

“I didn’t say you were, Ren. I’m just saying, you usually don’t think about friends like that.” Peter observed.

“(Y/N) is just a good friend. We’re kinda close. That’s it.”

“You kissed him at the bonfire.”

“It was spin the bottle, Pete! I wasn’t about to reject him in front of everyone like that.”

“Like what?”

“Like... Like... Fuck, I don’t know. I mean it was just a kiss-- I’m sure there are people who’d make fun of him if I didn’t kiss him. It was a party game anyway.” It’s not like I stayed up thinking about it for several days.

“Alex…” Peter whined.

“What’s wrong now?” He walked into the kitchen.

“Is it possible to like girls, and only girls for the longest time, but then you meet a guy, and you feel different?”

Alex’s face was covered with confusion and shock. “Peter?...”

“Not me. Warren.”

“Warren? I’m confused?”

“He has feelings for (Y/N).” Peter staged whispered to Alex.

“Maybe,” Warren stated.

“Oh no, you definitely like him. There’s no doubt about it.” Peter said surely.

“Why am I here then?”

“Because you lived your whole life liking girls, and then you met Hank. You guys are in a great relationship, nothing tragic has happened—

“I went to Vietnam to avoid Hank when in reality he liked me back.”

“Oh.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah. Really fucking stupid, but whatever… It was the 60s. And obviously being gay now isn’t much better, but… it could be worse. Anyway, if you really like (Y/N) you should tell him.”

“You want to ask Warren to homecoming?”

“Xavier’s residential leather-clad, curly blonde-haired, green-blue eyed, hot, winged, bad boy? Yes.”

“That’s a very specific description,” Hank commented, “Do you have a type?”

“Don’t call me out like that!”

Hank smiled to himself at your annoyance.

“Listen, I would die for Warren. He could choke me and I’d thank him. Some days I’m like, ‘Run me over! I want you too!’”

“That’s not healthy…” Hank stated awkwardly.

“I know, I know, but he’s like straighter than Scott— I don’t stand a chance with him!”

“Wouldn’t say that,” Alex mumbled.

“Well…” Hank glanced at Alex, unsure what to say, “What’s the worst that could happen if you ask him out?”

“Okay.” You sat down on the bed next to Warren. You glanced at him through your lashes. “Um…”

He was hesitant to place his hand on top of yours. “Is this okay?”

“Why are you nervous?”

The slight lingering glance at your lips told you everything you needed to know. You got closer, so your chests were touching, and you leaned in. You pressed your lips against Warren’s and he did the same. You wrapped your arms around his neck, tugging on the ends of his hair lightly. He groaned against your lips and you tried to hold back a smile.

He broke the kiss and frowned. You were still close and you could feel his breath.

He’s afraid that in his drunken state he’d made you uncomfortable, which led him to the never ending spiral of anxiety that made him say his wings were off limits in the first place.

Asking him what was wrong just led to him apologizing without actually saying what for.

Throughout the rest of the day he avoided the subject which made him ultimately avoid you.

It took him awhile but he eventually said what he needed to say.
