WIP Wednesday ✒️
Tagged by @stobinesque - thank you so very much!!
RULES:
In a reblog (or new post w/ rules attached), post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to post!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can’t share from (for example, an event fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. If you tag me in your post, I will send you an ask request!
WIPs:
steddie domestic hairwashing
steve overstimulation projection manifesto
cheerscoops fake dating season 3 au (steddie/buckingham)
when you come back, it's gravity (kas!steve au)
med student steve & nurse eddie who is sick of his shit
Gonna be real with y’all, the only WIP I’ve wrote anything for in the last week is #2 because it’s been A Week. (Also don’t let the WIP name fool you I mean overstimulation in the autistic kind of way, not the kink way lmao)
No pressure whatsoever buuuut I’m gonna tag @onirislanding and @sailors-ink!
Snippet from “steve overstimulation projection manifesto” (under a cut for length):
This time, however, his alarm clock says it’s only 1:27 AM. What’s more, it was even on his nightstand this time. Sure, Eddie had to move a bunch of papers from his campaign planning and a magazine or two he’d haphazardly dumped there to be able to read it, but it was actually on the nightstand. Where it belongs. Eddie’s really winning in the game of life tonight.
His winning streak only continues as he hears the shuffle of footsteps and the squeak of the trailer door closing behind Steve. Because at this time, Eddie knows it has to be his boyfriend; Family Video closes at midnight on Saturday nights. Factor in the time it takes Steve to close up shop and then drive over to the trailer, and there you have- wait.
It definitely doesn’t take an hour and half for Steve to get home after work – even if Saturday is one of their busiest nights.
Eddie is suddenly struck by the realization that it’s one of those nights.
“Stevie? Sweetheart?” Eddie calls out. He starts standing up, gingerly stepping over the notebook and loose pages scattered around his feet so he doesn’t crush them. He’s got probably three half-songs’ worth of chords and tentative lyrics in there somewhere, he doesn’t want to lose them. By the time he’s done that, put his guitar down, and quickly scooped all his papers into a rough pile he can sort through later, Steve’s entered his bedroom.
He doesn’t even spare Eddie a glance before immediately planting face-first onto his mattress.
“Oh, baby,” Eddie coos, coming over to sit next to Steve on the bed. Steve makes a noise in acknowledgement, although it’s heavily muffled by the mattress. “Stevie, can I touch you?” Eddie gets another muffled noise in response to that, but this one sounds distinctly like an uh-huh. Taking the confirmation for what it is – this is not Eddie’s first rodeo with nights like these, after all – he reaches out and rubs a firm hand up and down Steve’s back.
Steve sighs contentedly at the contact, some of the tension slowly leeching out of his muscles. They sit like that for a few moments, Eddie half massaging him and half just letting him know he’s there, before Steve says something else. He says it directly into the mattress, just like before, so Eddie doesn’t understand a single word of it.
“Wanna try that again, sweetheart?”
Steve lets out an enormous sigh, and then turns his head to the side to face Eddie. “Wan’ you to lay on me,” he says, and it still comes out a bit slurred. Whether it’s from the way Steve’s cheek is still smushed into the mattress, or talking is just a bridge too far for his baby right now, Eddie doesn’t know and frankly, does not care.
“Sure thing. You want your work uniform off first?”
“Just the vest.” Steve’s eyes are shut, and there’s a faint frown between his brows. It’s adorable, and Eddie knows he’s going to do something stupid like bite Steve if he keeps looking at his gorgeous face, so he quickly busies himself with removing Steve’s work vest. It only takes the gentlest of encouragement for Steve to move his arms as needed, Eddie trying his best to take off the vest without making Steve feel unnecessarily constricted. As he does so, he hears Steve taking some deep breaths in and out, and he smiles.
That’s one of the things they both find helpful, when they get overwhelmed like this; taking a moment to just breathe, as deep as you can. Slowly, in and out, and feel the stretch of your chest expanding each time you breathe in. It’s grounding – and plus, it’s harder to freak out about something when you’re physically forcing yourself not to hyperventilate. Eddie knows he and Steve have very different levels of success on that front, though.
Now that Steve’s vest is gone, however – and Eddie’s just flung it somewhere across the room, deciding it’s Future Eddie and Steve’s problem – it’s time for what his darling boyfriend actually asked for.

Sentences or Sketches or Something... Sunday
Hello strangers! It's been a long time since I last did a progress post of any kind - thank you everyone who's continued to tag me so I don't get left behind! And thanks to @noblecorgi, @alexalexinii, @you-remind-me-of-the-babe, @blackberrysummerblog, @thewholelemon, @mooncello, @monbons, @prettygoododds, @shrekgogurt, and @youarenevertooold for tagging me, today. (I feel so loved! <3) I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone's up to.
It's still Sunday in my neck of the woods, though just barely. And yes, I've used my "sentences" banner, but... It's a bit more chaotic than that. Honestly, I wasn't sure about doing a post today because I'm a bit all over the place, but then I figured... eh, why not? I am all over the place LOL.
So here's your snippet from the collective efforts of Jo's creativity, lately, under the cut. (Because I ramble...)
On the Haunting of Simon Snow... I haven't forgotten about it! Nor is it abandoned. As I keep telling anyone who will listen, I have a rough draft, which basically amounts to an outline, meaning I have way too much figured out to just let the story fade away. XD I attempted to work on Chapter 2 earlier this month, and ran into some roadblocks - of the architectural variety.
So I've started to research manor houses and English estates like mad. I'm going to do the thing. I'm going to figure out Pitch Manor. Why? Because my brain won't let me gloss over paltry details such as the location of Simon in the grand scheme of the house, or how and where the roof attaches and where that tree is going to be. It's annoying, but I figure... This is a fun puzzle, too. One I hope to be able to share with the fandom at large once it's complete.
This little snippet is from an early design I've since scrapped (but you never know what might come around, again.)
Tumblr media
"That's great, Jo, but how about some sentences?"
Okay. Ahem. Here's... some Simon sentences... that have just been scribbled out. *cough*
I sit there and listen to the man on the other side as he blathers on about extra fees associated with estate deliveries due to distance and blah blah bloody fucking blah. I wish he’d just say it. Just say 'this is the Pitch Manor tax.' No one ever does. But everyone charges it.
I HAVE WRITTEN SEE THERE'S PROOF.
Okay, moving on...
The other thing I'm working on is illustrations for @mooncello's beautiful fanfic, "Lost Boys." I just posted art from Chapter 1 here, and I'm working on art for Chapter 2, now. The story is stuffed to the gills with absolutely gorgeous imagery, so choosing what to illustrate is a challenge. Hopefully it all works out, and in the meantime, here are a couple doodles.
Tumblr media
(I was telling Heath last night... this morning...? about how all illustrations start out as baby sketches XD These are the little babes in the creative nursery, basically. Also I have never posted baby sketches before and I'm kinda nervous about it. But. Well. >.> )
THERE YOU HAVE IT. A couple of my reasons for being so entirely absent from all other aspects of the fandom. (Also I got hit with the flu super hard, but doing better now!)
Tags for future wipsdays/hello's! @leithillustration, @artsyunderstudy (thank you for listening to me ramble about Pitch Manor), @erzbethluna, @nightimedreamersworld, @cutestkilla (thank you for also listening to me ramble about Pitch Manor sorry I'm reworking it again XD), @angelsfalling16, @fatalfangirl, @hushed-chorus (thank you for being my secret-garden-enabler XD), @rimeswithpurple, @best--dress, @whatevertheweather, @ileadacharmedlife, @scribble-tier, @imagineacoolusername, @brilla-brilla-estrellita, @alleycat0306, @ivelovedhimthroughworse, @tender-ministrations, @katmiscellanious, @anxious-m3ss, @bubble-gumhead, @ebbpettier, @facewithoutheart, @bazzybelle, @theimpossibledemon, @aristocratic-otter, @ic3-que3n, @palimpsessed, @raenestee

happy WIP Wednesday, zamasian lovelies! this week i bring you more snips from the ongoing sequel to push me hard! the first two screens are earlier in the fic, then the second two are a little later, with a good chunk between!
the full text is below the cut as usual! and last week's snippet from the same fic -> here
A: [FUCK I forgot I said I’d go for drinks with Jacob and Sam after wrap…]
E: [Aw shoot, guess you’re gonna miss out then.]
A: [:(((((]
E: [Does more faces mean more sad? What even is this.]
A: [cruel cruel man. I’m gonna be stuck drinking cocktails and god knows what else and you’re just poking fun at my millennial typing habits when you could be doing anything else more fun!]
E: [Oh yeah? Like jerking it on camera for you? Sending it like a mini porno straight to your phone?]
A: [...] A: [fucking hell eric]
E: [Oh, you like that idea? Your own little movie of filth you can jerk it to when you’re on your own?]
A: [is this sexting? are you sexting me right now?]
E: [You tell me. Is this sexting?]
A: [depends. what are you wearing?]
E: [Kid, you know what I’m wearing. The same shit I was wearing all day after my shoots were done.]
A: [no fun!!!]
E: [Jeans. And I have a grey shirt on, I guess? Black undershirt, black briefs. Socks. Shall I go on? Is it too sexy for you yet?]
A: [NO FUN!!!!!!]
E: [My hand’s down my pants you know.] E: [Thinking about what we said last night. Your mouth instead of my hand.]
A: [yeah?]
E: [Yeah. You’ve got real pretty lips, I bet they’d look amazing round my cock. But since you’re busy, I guess I’ll have to entertain myself, so hand it is.]
A: [eric…]
E: [You got a hard on, baby? Thinking about being on your knees between my thighs?]
A: really fucking inconvenient hard on since i just got my coat on and now we’re off to the fucking pub. It’s a good job it’s dark.] A: [tell me more though…]
Hah. Eric palmed his cock again, rubbing down between jeans and briefs, surprised at how much this was actually starting to get him hard. He always loved to talk dirty during sex, so he figured maybe it stood to reason he’d enjoy sexting too, even if just thinking the word made him feel a hundred years old.
- - - * - - -
He sent both to Assad, then sighed. For all his grand ideas about jerking off for Assad now then having fun again later on, well. There came a point where you had to be realistic, and if he was honest with himself, Eric would much rather come in Assad’s mouth than in his own hand.
His cock twitched, and he tucked it away, fastening up his fly. Well, nothing to say he couldn’t keep texting the guy. Didn’t need a hard on for that; just his way with words.
A: [that’s really fucking hot…….]
E: [That’s your last pictures babe, don’t waste them. Tell me about your drink, and I’ll tell you what I’m going to do to you later.]
A: [last pictures? What happened to the grand porno you were gonna shoot?] A: [drink’s really good btw. STRONG. Too much absinthe for me, i got a different one. See]
A photo of a different drink was attached this time, this one in a tall, quite plain looking glass, a twist of lemon peel hanging over the edge and half of it missing.
E: [Looks good, what is it? Just wondering what you’ll taste like when I kiss you tonight.]
A: [Autumn in Chicago! Not sure how it measures up to the real thing in Chicago, but it tastes nice. Pears! And ginger too.] A: [what else are you gonna do tonight?]
E: [Pears and ginger, huh? Sounds wonderful. I was thinking about what I said last night, do you remember?]
A: [like i could forget. Pretty sure i dreamt about it, actually. I mean, you already kinda did suck my dick last night too. It was nice.]
E: [Oh, only nice? Well, guess I gotta try harder. I don’t know though, not sure I’d call that properly sucking your cock, babe. That was just an appetizer.]
A: [what’s the main course? Eric Bogosian Deep Throat Special?] A: [.....actually that sounds pretty good. I’d eat at that restaurant]
E: [It’d cost you - expensive restaurant. Four Michelin stars, you know.] E: [But yeah, pretty much my plan. Hold you close, suck you off until you cum in my mouth. Wonder if it’ll taste like pears.]
A: [wow okay. god. That’s hot. Although still pretty unfair! When do i get to suck your dick?]
E: [How about afterwards? When you’re all soft and pliable, get you on your knees and fuck those pretty lips of yours.]
A: [...] A: [...fuck]
E: [Oh yeah, you like the sound of that?]

can...can we know about the four ocs shipped with levi? like the differences in their relationships....if it's okay with you!!!
I’ll be making more info on them later, but I can give snippets here about them and about them and Levi!! Starting from healthiest to least healthy.
Felicia Bovino - Lambo’s older sister by 17 years. She’s not an active figure in her little brother’s life, most because she was already busy getting settled in as Dino’s lightning guardian when he was born, but she absolutely adores him. She’s even a little overprotective of him at times. So when she learns Levi fought her little brother post ring battles, she’s reasonably upset at him. So! They met when she tried fighting him.
What happens though when take two trained fighters who are also clumsy and make them fight though? The ever cheesy, Shojo like trope of them falling on each other of course! Felicia however misunderstood it as Levi trying to stop her from falling, just falling as well in the process. This results in her deciding he’s not half bad, just needs some more positive influence in his life. So now she takes any chance she can to spend time with him. This includes taking him on shopping trips or making him join her in baking.
For Levi, it’s a little annoying at times. But it’s also hard to hate someone so unashamedly kind and sweet to him. Plus, he doesn’t really hate the time he spends with her.
Next oc - Serafina/Fina Amato - This is the one with a power imbalance. As Fina is his subordinate. However, she is one of the higher ranked members in the Lightning Division. This is because she’s also head of IT and Tech Support for the Varia. Fina has a love-hate relationship with her boss. There’s moments where she admires Levi for the actions he does for the Lightning division and finds him to be a great leader. There’s other moments where she wants to just strangle him though. She’s also not afraid to get snippy and snide with him over these moments.
One big part of Fina as a character is she’s nonverbal autistic and communicates with an AAC device and sign language. And she has a chronic illness with chronic pain. These are all parts of her Levi respects and doesn’t demean her for. He’s even gotten good at spotting when she’s growing overstimulated in a situation, so he can order her to take a step back from it and handle it himself if he can.
The main conflict with them as a ship is the power imbalance of boss-subordinate and her occasional abrasiveness towards him.
Next oc - Laelia “Angel” Orchidea - Laelia here is the one who needs to work on herself first before she tries seriously pursuing anything with him lol. Laelia is Aria’s Mist Guardian and basically a mafia influencer. Mostly promoting her gothic lolita-jirai kei kinda style and things like that. She’s kinda a tsundere, but the type where you’re like “Oh, this girl has issues.” As she’s really selective on who she drops her walls around and shows genuine softness to, mostly because of things from her past. Levi at first was just one of her many followers on mafia social media and someone she didn’t really know. But through some slight shenanigans (namely Celeste and my headcanon of Aria and Xanxus being childhood friends lol) she met him and the rest of the Varia.
Levi was his usual awkward self, but this was “stupidly” charming to her. Though she warmed up to and befriended Lussuria first. Because she wanted to know more about Levi though, she started convincing Lussuria to take him on their outings together. Which turned into her convincing Levi to go with her places or do things for her. Her hesitance to soften up to him though resulted in her being really critical and sometimes even just rude to him. Things that dug under Levi’s skin a bit because she’s not someone he’d be willing to take that treatment from for long. So when he started to pull away, Laelia panicked and basically shut down contact with him herself to try avoiding the pain of him being the one to cut her off.
Needless to say, she needs to work on herself and apologize to him first for her actions before they make any actual progress.
Final oc - Margherita Laute - The final one and the least healthy one! So Margherita here is my Varia Cloud Guardian oc. She’ll be getting her own post eventually, so I can give proper content warnings with her, so this’ll mostly focus on her dynamic with Levi. If you looked her dead in the eyes and asked her how she felt about him, she’d shrug her shoulders and say she’s pretty neutral on him. However Levi would argue and say that she treats him like prey, which he isn’t wrong. However the moments she’s like that with him are exclusively when he’s showing extreme bouts of envy.
They’re not really good for each other, as they literally bring out the worst parts of each other. However they’re still fun to play around with lol.

Can I ask about two things? Blue Mando-Paz Feels and The Touch Barrier? Feel free to only answer one! This is @newpathwrites btw.
Hekk yeah I'll answer both, @newpathwrites!!! Let's goooo~
The Touch Barrier | Ver. 1 under the cut
Tumblr media
Ah my lovely fic headcanons with no real name... The Google Doc I have my drabbles about Paz Viszla are on just a funny sheet called quite literally Blue Mando Paz Feels. We had so little Paz content at the time I began writing these in 2019, but when I tell you my mind went wild...
Big blue boi Mando had my heart from the get go, and I quickly envisioned a nameless little OC (that I have yet to get onto paper). I paired him with a gentle soul who has a heart bigger than her head, and shakes the moment a gun is put into her hands-- but I think that brand of softness may be just what he needed in this harsh lonely world Mandalorians are so used to. He's big, he's blue, and it's cuffing season.. all I gotta say on that.
Now that I've seen more of Viszla in Season 3 I HAVE NEW SOURCE MATERIAL MUAHAHAHA but (ach-hem) I really do think the newest episodes helped me figure out his 'voice' so I might pick these little stories back up!
//psst my favorite of these is one where oc/reader's helping him clean up after a yucky, muggy recon mission, seeing him scrub himself really hard and she fusses over how rough he's being-even with himself. I go into how to care for your beskar, some Din Djarin rivalry-ish backstory, and how SWEET Paz can be when he's treated gently... Perhaps I'll flesh this one out if there's interest?
But also... my beloved:
Tumblr media
I answered a bit on my different directions on The Touch Barrier here... But I imagine you'll be most interested in the first iteration of it, so here's a snippet!!
"Are we ok?"
The helmet straightened up, fixed to you again from its nervous evasion. "What?"
"You look like a caged lothcat right now.." you shared, unable to hold back a smile. "And here I thought we were on hugging terms~"
Inside the beskar suit, Mando’s neck flared with heat. And before he could silence himself,
"..we are?"
You hummed noncommittally- betraying your whole-hearted desire.
"I hoped so. At least I thought we might be, based on how you boarded the other day. Unless you didn't necessarily want me there. After all, I know you were kinda having a hard time staying upright."
Only then did Mando's beskar curves slide more naturally into place. No longer bolted to the wall but angled catty corner to you.
He recalled the 'hug' referenced, but he also remembered how he'd cupped your head to him after you'd brought him up to the cockpit-- that one was for comfort. Not stability.
"I was. But that's not why I .."
–but before he fully finished his train of thought, the baby in the hold let out a frustrated garble of calls as a rolling ball clinked out of his reach. Each plunk echoed down the rungs until it rolled off to parts unknown. You snorted, wondering what on earth he was getting into up there.
"Gosh, that little guy. Sorry, what were you saying?" you recentered from your distraction.
With a lag in his shoulders, the Mandalorian thought the truth to be the best answer. But still wanting to answer to the Child, he nodded his head on for you to continue down to the hull, and he'd follow,
"I was just going to say," he answered, "I didn't do that because I couldn't stand on my own. i-i mean I couldn't, true, but the thing is, I 'wanted to'..."
His heart was thundering, some cracks in his words were audible,
"I was bleeding out all over the floor. But really, l I could think of was just how grateful I was that you hadn't been hurt. You were safe, and seeing you? I was relieved."
Now side by side in the open air cargo space you smiled, feeling a bit like the silly girls in the holonovels when they pushed their hair behind their ears.
"Well... For one, I'm glad you're not bleeding all over the floor."
That earned you a breathy laugh, "Thank you."
"And for two, I'm- glad you wanted to. Because I may or may not have been wanting to, myself.."
Mando paused in his strides. which you matched. Even though you were unable to read his expression, you gave a satisfied little smile with your answer,
"So… it sounds like we're on the same page."
"Sounds like we are."
The Child whined again, making both tip their head off to the side, perfectly in sync.
"I can go get him-- meet you back up top?"
"Okay." He nodded and they split.
Back in the cockpit, you wrangled the bouncing little potato sack. Mando turned when you came in, hearing you corral the kid trying to jump out of your arms to get a better view from his pram.
"Ok ok kiddo, good grief– your seat's but going anywhere!" You shrilled. Planted into his blankets, he sat back in content, swaying side to side, taking in the stars and clusters they were passing in awe.
"Handful?"
"More like tryin'a be a hand-empty, the little wiggle worm." you sassed. His playfighting was all in good fun.
The Mandalorian spun to meet you. First and foremost, you know he'd set the locks on the overhead panels on the side wall, but then he surprised you when he faced fully after you readjusted your clothes the kid had tugged every which way.
"You're good with him. He seems happy to have someone else around." He complimented, stepping into your space.
Then- finally- meeting your sparkling eyes with all their silent anticipation of his arms, he wrapped around you to pull you in. You locked him in by the waist.
Then, slightly softer, he nearly whispered, "and.. he's not the only one."
Smushed slightly into his flight suit padding above his chest plate, you smiled. The pats you gave him back passed assurance and as much comfort as you could manage in this relatively tiny hunk of metal in the vast black dust of space.
"Feeling's mutual, hon."
Hope you liked it!! More of this may come one day...
...dangit.. now I wanna finish this. (le sigh)

19 63 cmjf ?
ough, more cmjf summer camp with "everyone knows but them" (snippet under the cut, caveat i have zero experience with summer camps)
punk and max are counsellors at the same summer camp. max is great with the kids because he's an asshole but they find it funny. punk's busy trying to keep a whole camp full of kids alive, plus stop max getting into fights with some of the other counsellors
this would be a lot easier if people would stop asking awkward questions about why he keeps looking at max all the time
-
All the kids love Max.
Punk kinda gets it, in a weird way. There's less of an age difference between him and them than the rest of the counsellors, and his asshole comments come off as hilarious rather than obnoxious, often sending them into fits of giggles.
Plus, he's apparently the best at throwing them bodily into the lake. Punk watches as he tosses another one into the glittering blue water before kissing his bicep, the rest of them screaming with excitement.
“Why are you always staring at him?”
He jumps, not expecting one of them to creep up on him like that. “Jesus, Jack, warn a guy first, will you?”
Jack just looks up at him in that way kids do, like he's trying to figure out a really hard puzzle, and Punk feels a sudden sense of dread. A need to fend him off before he starts asking more questions.
“Anyway, why aren't you in the lake with the other kids, huh? You been climbing trees again?”
“No,” Jack says emphatically, but it's not helped by the leaves tangled up in his curly hair. Punk plucks one out and raises an eyebrow at him.
“I wasn't climbing trees, I was in the bushes with Luchasaurus. He can't swim,” he says, holding up his stuffed dinosaur like it explains everything. “And I saw you watching him, why are you looking at Max all the time?”
Too late. Fuck.
“Well, I want to make sure he's not doing anything too dangerous that's gonna hurt somebody, Jack.”
It's a little true. Not that Max has ever injured someone before; he's always been incredibly safe, but as he picks up Garcia by the ankle and wrist and launches him, sending him flying, it makes enough sense.
More sense than the real answer, which is that he doesn't really know.
“My sister says if you look at someone a lot it means you really, really like them.”
Bullshit she did, Punk thinks. His sister's been glaring daggers at Christian Cage for the past two summers they've been working together, and he's pretty sure she doesn't—
Although.
That would explain a number of things.
Not that he likes Max. He's… alright, he's annoying, but he doesn't like him, certainly not in the way that this kid is implying. Christ, why couldn't he have asked about the birds and the bees instead?
“What makes you think I like him?” he asks, trying not to sound vaguely panicked, but also he needs to know where people are getting that impression from, who else is going around thinking this.
“Well, you always sit next to him when we build a campfire—”
Well, that's just a coincidence. Everyone has to sit somewhere, and if he likes to keep an eye on Max in the dark to make sure he's not up to anything stupid, then that just benefits everyone—
“And you yelled at Bryan when Max's special meal wasn't there that one dinner—”
Okay, he didn't yell, and even if he did it was only because Max is a nightmare when he gets hangry and he didn't want to deal with him like that—
“And Darby said he saw you pulling his hair one night and then you started rolling around on the ground with him, and then Eddie told him to go back to bed, and Christian says if you pull someone's hair it means you like-like them—”
Well, that was…
That was a fight. That was just a dumb fight where they'd grappled each other over some inane bullshit he can't even remember. Nothing had even happened, but he makes a note to have the world's most uncomfortable talk with Kingston to find out what the fuck he saw and why he didn't think to fucking mention it—
“Christian Cage is a liar and a bad influence, so don't listen to him, alright?”
Max glances in their direction and must catch the look of absolute mortified desperation on Punk's face, because he makes a beeline over to them.
Punk tries to take his eyes off his calves as he runs, he really does. They're just so defined, he gets a little jealous is all.
“See?” Jack says, with all the conviction of a seven year old vindicated.
Punk wishes he could tell a seven year old to shut the fuck up.
“Hey, Jungle Jack, mind if I borrow Punky-boy for a second?” Max says, not even waiting for an answer before scooping a protesting Punk up over his shoulder into a fireman's carry. “Thanks buddy!”
“Max, what—put me the fuck down, you asshole,” he demands, watching Jack run back off into the bushes, uncaring. Little shit.
“Hmm. Nope,” he responds, breaking into a light jog. “Chuck wanted to see if I could throw you into the lake, and we gotta give the people what they want, now, don't we?”
Punk tries to kick his legs, wriggle free, but Max's arm is tight against his side, pressing his stomach into his shoulder, and then his hand shifts, grabbing his ass for a better hold—
Oh.
Punk feels his mental perspective shift, like he's been staring at an optical illusion for the last five hours and he's finally seen the vase, not the two people talking, but before he can fully process it, reality shifts as Max tosses him bodily out into the water.
The kids are still cheering by the time Punk surfaces, drenched to the bone, hair flat against his face, wiping the water from his eyes.
He glares up at Max as Max grins back down at him, and he thinks, no, he definitely doesn't like-like him.

smoly hokes dude okay,,
1. Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?
I think I actually prefer one-shots. Shorter, faster, telling a tiny story rather than a lengthy one. I actually struggle with multi-chapter and it's been years since I finished writing one. Hoping to change that with Adagio...
10. Cltr+f "blinks" on your WIP & copy paste the first sentence/paragraph that comes up
They were eyes that never blinked, never faltered, and captured every moment.
Kinda cheated and dropped the "s" so I would have something to actually share lol. Not telling you which WIP this is from either >:3
[the rest under the cut because this got so long,,,]
11. Link your three favorite fics right now
Uh uh uh b-but I don't I mean I have a lot of favorites I don't have like a tier list this is a lot of pressure um,,
Okay for strictly TMNT fics, I guess I really love Little Scraps of Wisdom by clandestineClairvoyant because it's just. The softest damn thing and I love the characterization of the turtles. Dawning of the Hour by that brilliant bastard Faiakishi has been killing me slowly and I adore every agonizing second of it. And The Lemonade Leak by TurtleSoupSwimmer keeps yanking the rug out from under me just when I think I've gotten shit figured out. Also shout-outs to basically everything Dandy writes but in particular Tapping Out because I relate to that fic so hard and it makes me feel Seen, Violet Neon Nitro by TractorTeeth because fuck me does it scratch that Mad Max itch in my brain box and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the descriptions in it, and The Last Ronin Discord Shenanigans for giving Ronin a happy ending and some very interesting and well written character interactions.
But if we're talking not just TMNT? Then Poor Wayfaring Stranger by lithos_saeculum is one of my number one fics; a FFXV fic and I don't mind if it never gets finished because it's already 60 incredibly well written and amazing chapters that I have reread multiple times. The Good Mourning / Ghost!Jake AU by corruwuption is a Micoverse fic gut punch that I adore and it's written so well and just!! Ahhhgg! Ghost Jake wrecks me every time. And Audience: 822,000 and Homeland Security by WerewolvesAreReal is just. It's my favorite Leverage fic and it's so in character and silly and I absolutely love well-executed outsider perspective fics.
14. how do you write emotional scenes? Do you ever feel what the characters feel? Do you draw from personal experiences?
As an extremely emotional person who cries about anything and everything, yes and yes. I definitely put myself in the character's shoes. Although this sometimes has a habit of backfiring as I start writing myself into of the character and then have to go back and edit everything. Oops. But yeah I also draw from personal experience where I can. Different people experience different emotions different ways, everyone reacts differently. But having gone through Some Shit helps me understand certain things better.
16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?
Uuuhhh something like...eleven? Or twelve fic ideas? I think? Haha can't stop, won't stop lmao heLP
Man I dunno which ones I haven't shared anything about yet...I guess my extremely self-indulgent, almost everybody lives, future au crossover thing that would be a multi-chaptered nightmare of a beast and will likely never be written. I should just mess with that for funsies sometime.
Anyway, here's a sketch thing I never finished based on it. Like I said. Very self-indulgent.
Tumblr media
37. How do you choose where to end a chapter?
Eh, vibes. Usually when I'm writing and I feel like I'm near the end of a chapter, I just get a feeling. Like "aw yeah, this is the moment". Once in a great while there is a pre-planned cut off point, a scene I know I want to end a chapter on, but that's an infrequent thing.
39. Share a snippet from a WIP.
You really just want all my secrets, huh?
Tumblr media
42. What's the last fic you red? Do you recommend it?
Oh man, looking at my history and everything I've read recently has just been updates from fics I already subscribe to. I haven't had a lot of time to try and read something new... Looks like the last thing new thing I read was a one-shot of 2003 Leo called Oh Shoot by halogalopaghost. And yes, I do recommend it! A very good study in 03 Leo being a fucking dumbass. :)
43. Do you take a sadistic joy in whumping your characters, or are you more the "If you hurt them I would kill everyone and then myself" kind of person?
Do you even know me!? I delight in whump and suffering! I have a Bad Things Bingo Card for a reason! My turtlesona is Goretello! Mad scientists, unethical experimentation, body horror, and non-consensual body modifications are my bread and butter! I am an unashamed edgelord gorehound horror lover!
60. Have you had a writer you admire comment on your fic? What was that like?
It was like: "ajkdhsfjald omfg this really cool, very talented, very awesome person liked what i wrote omg??" because I am a child. For real though, it's always really flattering to see someone whose talent you admire respond to something you've created! It feels good and it makes you like your thing just a little bit more, I feel.
65. Tell us about what you're most looking forward to writing - in your current project, or a future project.
There's stuff in "Adagio in Green" that I am really looking forward to! Things ramp up rather quickly and I'm very excited to get to the stuff I have planned! Not gonna lie, it gets a little bit...how do I put this...well, I think I've mentioned already that I plan on giving these Rise boys the Farmhouse Arc they were robbed of in the show. That's not the only thing the show's cancellation robbed them of and I'm wedging so much of that shit into Adagio it's almost stupid.
Okay last one...
75. What scene in [Fanfic Name] took you longest to write? What was difficult about it?
Uh well, buddy, you didn't provide me a fic sooooooo guess we're going with "Adagio in Green".
It wasn't just a scene but the entirety of Chapter 6, the chapter that's going up next week, gave me A LOT of trouble. I deviated from my outline (and I'm still deviating from it because of chapter six) and it threw everything out of whack. I couldn't figure out how to get things going. It either felt too rushed or too stagnated.
I feel better about it now that it's actually finished, but I'm still nervous about it.
Actually, I get nervous about every update I post,,,

F + I + T !!
F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
i actually managed to track down my absolute favorite dialogue scene i've written, and it's from to quote mika, age 35, of beirut, lebanon: where have all the good (gay) guys gone?
this is so long i'm so sorry. i'm putting it below a cut:
“Why did you tell people you didn’t think I was scary?”
Taka looked at him, worn down, and tried to figure out what kind of a response he was looking for. People rarely asked him why with an intent to know the actual answer. It made answering things, and conversing in general so hard for him. But Mondo didn’t look like he had any particular expectations, so Taka swallowed through the dryness in his throat and replied. “Because I didn’t think anyone would want to be told that they were,” he said, “And to me, you are not. You never have been.”
“Alright. But why?”
Taka wasn’t sure he’d heard correctly. “I’m sorry?”
“Why don’t you find me scary? I intimidate the shit outta everyone else ‘round here. Why dinnit ever work on you?”
In sixteen years of attempting to form a meaningful relationship with anybody, of trying to make friends and failing every time, of not even being able to get his classmates to stand him, no one had ever once asked him a follow-up question. He’d offered them in long run-on sentences that made them weary and annoyed, reminded not only by his peers but his teachers and his own parents that people didn’t tend to want to a detailed explanation about his thought processes.
Taka’s never scripted out the full thing before.
So he did what he always does in those situations, and blurted out the first thing that came to mind. “You like dogs.”
“Lots of people like dogs,” Mondo replied.
“Yes. But you remind me of one.”
He blinked at him. “How?” Taka licked his lips, and stared at the ceiling of the dressing room to keep from looking at Mondo. Knowing he was being watched was making him nervous. “Are you pre-scriptin' this?”
“Yes,” he admitted, and kind of had to look at Mondo at that point in time. He looked...fond. “How did you know?”
“You always kinda talk like ya scripted it out in yer head first.”
“I do usually script things I say in advance. People won’t talk to me if I don’t.”
What had been something like a smile sort of crumbled, and it looked like Mondo was biting his cheek to keep from looking too sad about it. “Well, just say whatever comes to mind. Ain’t like it matters, ‘s just me. And we’re friends now, right?”
He couldn’t help the feeling that it could all be some sort of trap, but if Mondo was going to insist, as some sort of way to strengthen the bond of their friendship, then he could at least try. “Some breeds of dogs get bad reputations because of the way they have been bred for things like fights and security. Like, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Pit Bulls. And I think it would be terribly sad, to be that kind of dog, and have people assume from the look of me that I’m not worthy of companionship because of what my environment has made me.”
i thought about this dialogue way before i wrote it, and i think it's the most insightful i've been about about a character and characterization. i don't know. i just feel like everything else i've written sort of pales in comparison to the clarity i felt writing this out. i've always wanted to write something for pathologic that made me feel the sort of accomplishment i did with this section right here. i feel like it's harder for pathologic because as a role-playing game there's more leeway in how these characters are represented and how they act than with npcs in a courtsim. of course interpretation will always be up for grabs but this time i just felt like i really got it.
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
some kinds of fic are guilty pleasures themselves because they're wish fulfillment. like, everyone lives aus. although 'everyone lives' usually means protagonists. there's a beauty in the tragedy of the source material but i don't always want to read something that furthers the tragedy. sometimes i want to see people who died being happy. especially for something like jojo. or saw.
T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?
i'm trying to think of something that pertains to fanfic because i've gotten better at just ignoring things in fic that i don't like. the only thing that really bugs me is when i'm just reading something and one of my triggers pops up without being forwarned about it. i'm also not really a fan of crack fics because i just... do not understand them. i guess they're supposed to be funny? but they just don't vibe with my sense of humor.

On the subject of the button
In an effort to actually actively figure gender things out rather than just observing a bunch of small things and doing small experiments, I decided to consider hypotheticals of "the button" this week.
It seems if the button is pink and says "Gender", the proper thing to do is check whether the bomb has more than two batteries and whether there's a lit indicator with the label FRK.
But seriously, I think I've reached the point where I've realized that if there was a magic button of "trans your gender to the opposite of your AGAB and everyone accepts it (plus your government and work documents are handled)", I'd actually push it. Over the past couple months I've gone from "Well, I'd at least have to consider it" to "If I'd be offered the choice again in 1-12 months so I could change back" to "Maybe a 20% chance if it truly is permanent, but it's hard to guess what I'd do", and so forth. What finally made me realize is actually a different hypothetical of a more powerful button that allows editing the body and considering what would be changed or kept. I realized with that button... I would not likely keep any masculine features, so there's no issue with the first button.
But, of course, I think I've been kinda focused on the binary genders when thinking about that, so even if it's true that I'd prefer being a woman over being a man, that doesn't give me a direct conclusion. I could be nonbinary. I think I'm increasingly willing to admit that when I estimate my gender as "nonbinary with up to 50% error", the possible error really only goes in one direction from the guess, so I've actually cut off another quarter of the spectrum, at least.
Also, honestly, I think I've overly focused on appearance. Like, sure, I want to be cute, but how do I want to be treated? How do I want to treat others? As a bit of a shut-in it's kinda hard to think about.
And even when it comes to appearance, since there are no magic buttons I'm not even sure how much I really want to change in real life. Doing anything medically seems like a hassle.
Anyway, separate from the main subject, the scattered happenings of the week:
I spent a bit thinking it would be funny if "flies the RX12" (Cross the Rubicon) was used as a euphemism for being transgender. I'm sure there are plenty of really specific in-jokes people have.
I accidentally called myself "he" in a Youtube recording and was internally like "Aww, missed opportunity to use they". At least "He" is still in my profile so it wasn't wrong, I guess?
I had a snippet of a dream where a character was thinking back on her life which included an mtf transition. It used one of those montage variations where a character just has new versions of themself appearing across a single scene with an implied walking motion. Meanwhile, her narration said, "I believed [in myself], but do not know how I've dethroned the gods." What a way to say you just wanted to live your life.
I had a genuine smile for a minute or two when playing Cupid Parasite yesterday. A grin or a smirk isn't odd for me, but how often do I really smile? I'm not sure. I'm also not sure exactly what scene it was anymore: something somewhat early in the Lovelorn Parasite's route, which I've now finished. I was also reminded of some of the things I felt back when RPing as OC Chante Braice around a decade ago. There's also been a small but definite reaction to anybody using the name I input for the main character (Alice). I thought it wasn't even necessarily the final name I'd want, but now that I'm trying it I can't really imagine trying anything else. Maybe should've thought more in the past.

Ao3 Tips and Tricks
So I thought I would make a post about some cool stuff you can do with Ao3 and userscripts, and some tips I’ve learned from setting them up for myself! I promise it's not hard, though this is a lot of info. I'm happy to help if I can.
What You’ll Need:
First, you will need the Tampermonkey extension for your browser (depending on what browser you use, Greasemonkey is the equivalent). On Android, you can even run Chrome extensions on mobile with Kiwi Browser! It is easiest to configure the scripts on your desktop and then sync to mobile with Tampermonkey’s cloud sync feature or by exporting the configured scripts and importing in your mobile browser (I will explain how to do this later in the post). If you use any of the tweaks I outline below, be sure to backup your scripts in case your settings are lost.
Once you have Tampermonkey installed, you can get scripts from GreasyFork. The inimitable @flamebyrd also has some great scripts and bookmarklets and has been incredibly helpful while I figured all this out.
Find a script that looks interesting, click on it, and then click “install this script.” Pretty straightforward. Once you have it installed, you can go to Tampermonkey to configure it (only necessary for some scripts) by clicking on the Tampermonkey extension icon in your browser (under the three dot menu in Kiwi) and clicking “dashboard”, then clicking the edit icon next to the script you want to configure. When you’re done, click File->Save.
Scripts and instructions under the cut
Some of my favorites:
Flamebyrd’s Incomplete Works script - fades out WIPs on works listings, and displays the work stats (wordcount, chapters, etc) in red on single works to make it more obvious that they’re WIPs as you’re browsing:
Tumblr media
Flamebyrd’s Ao3 to Pinboard bookmarklet/script - if you click the bookmarklet while on a work’s page, it opens the Pinboard save screen and prefills the title, tags, description, word count, etc, and adds ?view_full_work=true&view_adult=true to the URL so Pinboard’s archiver will archive the complete work and not the adult content warning screen (note that Pinboard still cannot correctly archive works locked to Ao3 users, so you may want to download them as a backup. I’ve asked him about fixing that.), based on your selections when configuring the bookmarklet on the linked page. If you use the userscript, it adds a button to the works listings page so you don’t even have to open the work to save it:
Tumblr media
I tweaked this script so that it only grabs the first pairing tag, since I don’t typically care about secondary pairings and they were clogging up my Pinboard tags. It’s a simple fix (though I know nothing about coding so I had to do some googling and inspect-sourcing; kinda proud of myself tbh):
Just change this part of the script
if ( options.relationship_include ) {
- $(".relationships a.tag", $work).each(function () {
To this
if ( options.relationship_include ) {
- $(".relationships a.tag:first", $work).each(function () {
I also found this cool mobile-optimized Pinboard bookmarklet called Pincushion and combined it with Flamebyrd’s script. Everything works except the auto-tagging, but I’ve reached out on GitHub to see if he can help (according to Flamebyrd, there’s no tag field ID attribute to map to). However, this bookmarklet has tagging autocomplete features that make it easy to tag manually. For example, if you type “steve 21st” it will suggest “steverogersvsthe21stcentury” rather than having to type out “steverogersvs…” in order for it to autocomplete like it does on the regular Pinboard bookmarklet. I actually have two buttons set up (which you can see in the next screenshot) - Flamebyrd's to quickly grab the tags and close without me having to do anything, and then the Pincushion one to quickly edit the tags. If anyone's interested, I can explain how to do that.
To combine Pincushion with Flamebyrd’s script (so it works from the Ao3 works listings page as mentioned above), simply change this part of Flamebyrd’s script:
t = t.split(" ").join( options.space_replacement );
var pb_url = "https://pinboard.in/add?url=" + encodeURIComponent(q) + "&description=" + encodeURIComponent(d) + "&title=" + encodeURIComponent(p) + "&tags=" + encodeURIComponent(t);
void(open(pb_url, "Pinboard", "toolbar=no,width=700,height=350"));
To this
t = t.split(" ").join( options.space_replacement );
var pb_url = "https://rossshannon.github.io/pincushion/?user=YOURUSERNAME&token=YOURAPITOKEN&url=" + encodeURIComponent(q) + "&description=" + encodeURIComponent(d) + "&title=" + encodeURIComponent(p) + "&tags=" + encodeURIComponent(t);
void(open(pb_url, "Pinboard", "toolbar=yes,width=600,height=700,left=50,top=50"));
You’ll need to get your API Token from your Pinboard account and plug it in where it says YOURUSERNAME and YOURAPITOKEN (number part only) above.
FanFictionNavigator - mark fics as Like/Dislike/Mark/InLibrary, highlight with colors based on which option you select, hide/show based on category, like/dislike author and highlight with color. Only you will see how you've marked things.
You can tweak the colors for the highlighting by configuring the script (I find the default colors make the text hard to read because I use the Reversi skin on Ao3 for white-ish text on a gray background). I also changed it so that when I click “hide likes” it only hides liked fics and not liked authors (i.e. hides fics I’ve read, but not unread fics by authors I like), changed the color of the like/dislike/etc links to match the highlighting color and to show up better, and changed the way it highlights authors (I think the default is bold/strikethrough which doesn't really catch my eye. I changed it to highlight the author name in red/green):
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Here are my configured scripts if you’d like to use them instead of tweaking yourself (you need to install both):
FanFictionNavigator
FanFictionNavigator - Colors
Note: Your settings for this script will sync via Tampermonkey but not your data (i.e. fics you’ve liked/marked/etc). If you ever switch between browsers, you’ll need to go to your Ao3 Dashboard and click FFNOptions, export your data, then go through the same process to import it into the new browser.
AO3: Kudosed and seen history - highlight or hide works you kudosed/bookmarked/marked as seen. If you want to use this with FanFictionNavigator, you’ll need to turn off “highlight bookmarks” from the settings under the “Seen Works” dropdown that gets added to your Ao3 navbar or FFN’s colors won’t show. Again, data doesn’t sync between browsers but you can copy it from the dropdown settings. However, it pulls your kudosed and bookmarked fics from Ao3 itself, so that will always show. It's just seen/skipped that doesn't sync:
Tumblr media
Ao3 download buttons - adds a download button to the works listings page so you don’t have to open the fic to download it. However, it also doesn’t play nicely with FFN’s colors, so I’m using AO3 Review + Last Chapter Shortcut + Kudos-sortable Bookmarks script which also has a download button that works with FFN (a small down arrow next to the author name). The download button doesn’t work as-is from that link, so here’s my tweaked version based off of this comment. You can configure what format you want it to download by default in the script. There’s also a tweak in the comments to fix kudos-sorting, but it overloads Ao3 and you get a “retry later” error for a few minutes when you try to open Ao3, so I don’t recommend it. I don’t know if any of the other functionalities of the script work because I don’t use them, but it looks like there are tweak suggestions in other comments you can try:
Tumblr media
I was using Ao3 Replace Words to replace words in fics that bug me but I realized it wasn’t working on mobile, so I’m using zensurf instead which is not Ao3-specific but works basically the same way. If you want to limit it to just Ao3 (so it doesn’t change words on non-fic sites), just add this
// @include http://archiveofourown.org/*
// @include https://archiveofourown.org/*
Above this line
// ==/UserScript==
(function() {
You can // @include other fic sites like ffnet that way too.
AO3: Links to Last Chapter and Entire Works does what it says on the tin, but the creator was kind enough to give me a code snippet to add that makes the “E” (for Entire Work) appear next to all works and add ?view_full_work=true&view_adult=true to the work URL so that I can easily right-click and share to Instapaper and have it be saved correctly (not just the first chapter but the whole work + not the content warning screen for NR/M/E works). Here is the script with this tweak applied:
Tumblr media
I think those are the only ones that I’ve done special tweaks for. Here are some others that I find useful that either don’t require any configuration, or should be pretty straightforward to configure and are explained on the script page.
AO3 author+tags quick-search - doesn’t require configuration
Generates quick links from AO3 fics to more by the same author in the same fandom (or character/pairing/any other tag):
Tumblr media
Remove leading spaces in AO3 - doesn’t require config
Removes the leading indents for paragraphs in AO3 works.
Ao3 Only Show Primary Pairing - you have to enter the pairings you want in the script, and you can change how early in the sequence they must appear before the work is hidden. Also works with character tags.
Hides works where specified pairing isn't the first listed. Hidden works show a placeholder that you can click to unhide:
Tumblr media
AO3: highlight tags - have to enter the tags you want highlighted, as well as the color you want. It matches case so you may have to enter both “Dog” and “dog”, for example.
Configure tags to be highlighted with different colors. This makes a tag more obvious to your eye when browsing. I use it to highlight things I’m wary of in red so I don’t miss them and start reading a fic I might not want.
AO3: Tag Hider - configure how many tags you want to see before it hides them
Hide tags automatically when there are too many tags. Add hide/show tags button to browsing page and reading page.
AO3 Remove Double-Spacing - no config
Removes awkward double spaces between paragraphs on AO3. Doesn’t smush together paragraphs that have a single line break - it leaves those alone.
ao3 series collapser - no config
Collapse works that are later than part 1 of a series. Leaves a placeholder so you can uncollapse if you want to see it.
AO3 Blocker - no config, but you enter what you want to block from the added navbar dropdown in Ao3
Fork of ao3 savior; blocks works based on certain conditions. I find this simpler to use than Ao3 savior.
FYI there are also style scripts for Pinboard on greasyfork and userstyles.org (this site is slow af for some reason, so be patient while it loads). I use show unread bookmarks more clearly and Modern Pinboard Style (basically a dark mode). Neither require config unless you just want to tweak the settings to your liking. To install to Tampermonkey from userstyles, scroll down to “Install style as userscript”.
I also use these extensions in Kiwi:
Ao3rdr - Adds a star rating system (pictured in some of the screenshots above) to Ao3 works that only you can see. This one will sync your data between devices if you use the cloud sync option, which I recommend so you don’t lose your data if something happens to your device or browser.
Dark Reader - not really necessary for Ao3 if you use Reversi skin, but does make all browser pages dark mode if you want it on sites other than Ao3.
Speaking of Ao3 skins, I have another one set up in conjunction with Reversi that shows all the fandoms on a user’s profile, rather than having to click “expand”:
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, I can’t remember where I found this. To set it up yourself, go to your Ao3 -> Dashboard -> Skins -> Create Site Skin, fill in the Title (has to be unique), and paste the code below in the CSS box:
#user-fandoms ol.index {
padding-bottom: 0;
text-align: center;
}
#user-fandoms ol.index li {
display: inline;
margin-right: .5em;
line-height: 2.15em;
}
#user-fandoms ol#fandom_full_list {
padding-top: 0;
padding-bottom: 1.5em;
display: block !important;
}
#user-fandoms p.actions {
display: none;
}
Then hit Submit -> Use. There are ways to hide or highlight various elements (ships, characters, blurbs, work stats, etc) on a works listing page using skins on Ao3. This is getting long so I’m not going to go into that, but I’m happy to help if you want to try it. It’s very easy.
Once you have everything configured on Tampermonkey on your desktop, you can migrate it to your mobile device in one of two ways:
Option 1: Go to Tampermonkey settings and change Config Mode to Advanced
Go down to Script Sync and select your preferred cloud service and save
It will ask you to log in to said cloud service
Install Tampermonkey in Kiwi and do the same thing
Wait for it to sync (this can be slow)
It should sync any changes you make moving forward, but again, it’s slow
Option 2: go to Utilities and check all 3 checkboxes under general (include script storage, include Tampermonkey settings, include external script resources)
Either export to your preferred cloud service or
Export as a zip file, move it to your mobile device, go to this same screen and import
I would recommend exporting as a zip for a backup even if you don’t use it to migrate your scripts
You can unzip and upload individual script files (.js) on this page if you ever need to reinstall a single script with your settings instead of all of them
Let me know if you run into any issues and I can try to help! The script writers are also super nice and helpful if you reach out to them. Yay fandom!

Maybe a snippet about Hyrule hitting statues for potions? (Like Legend’s statues in Holodrum/Labrynnia or maybe Mipha’s statue)
Ask and ye shall receive! In no reasonable amount of time, but receive ye shall!
(This was a ton of fun to write!)
Everyone in their group had some... irregularities...
Time’s issue with pottery for example, or Legend’s need to collect every item that could conceivably (and sometimes inconceivably) be used for anything ever. Wars had a need to know where everyone was all the time, and Twilight had a tendency to gnaw on things, made worse by Wild’s propensity for giving him meat with bones still in it, bones that Twilight would gnaw on for the rest of the meal until someone pointed it out.
It was funny, really, to see his pup flush and spit out the bones with a startled expression, apparently never having realized what he was doing. It was funnier still that if the pup seemed particularly keen on one, that Wolfie would appear later to finish chewing it.
But chewing bones and collecting items, and even digging through pottery (which wasn’t a good thing he knows, Malon has scolded him a million times for it) are hardly comparable to Hyrule’s tendencies.
Hyrule liked to hit things.
Not people mind, or animals, or even buildings. Hyrule liked to hit statues, and apparently only statues.
The same look would come over the traveler’s face every time, considering and curious before he took off like a rocket towards whatever stone or metal figure lay before him. But no matter how consistent the behavior was, no one was ever fast enough to stop him.
The first time it wasn’t that big of a deal. It was just the traveler, the veteran and himself, and they’d been wandering about in Wild’s Hyrule trying to figure out where exactly the others were.
Usually, they wouldn’t have split up, but both he and the vet were fighting with their arthritis and Hyrule had insisted on taking a look to try and figure out something to help them. It was late, and neither of them had felt overly keen on arguing against the order, but the others were half asleep on their feet, so Time had encouraged them to hurry along to the village Wild had promised was nearby.
Finding the village was the easy part, the hard part was stopping Legend from wheezing up a lung when his protégé's first instinct was to smack the statue of Hylia in its center. Hyrule had looked disappointed for whatever reason after soundly punching Hylia’s likeness in the side, and it had only made the vet wheeze harder, leaning against Time heavily in order to stay upright as he cackled uproariously. Time didn’t really get why it was funny, but the fact that Hyrule’s first instinct was to smack Hylia did pull a smile to his lips.
Legend didn’t laugh the second time it happened though, in fact, he looked hurt.
They’d been dumped in a place that Legend called Lynna City, and while the vet wove his way through the streets with practiced ease, the others trailing after him like ducklings as he’d explained some of the history of the place, even telling them that it was the sight of one of his adventures.
“It’s changed a lot since then though,” The vet drawled, eyes glimmering in a way Time wasn’t sure he liked. “But there’s some things that don’t change.”
“Like what?” Wind had bounced in place, gripping Legend’s hand tightly as he had been doing since they found themselves in one of the cities alley ways.
The vet flinched, eyes darting to the side as he’d ushered them further along the pathways, only to be stopped by Warriors’ voice exclaiming in a breathy manner. “Like that?”
In the middle of the town square, there was a statue. A bright smiling face, sharp eyes and the vet’s signature messy bangs stared out at them from a face of stone, much younger looking than the vet himself, but easily recognizable.
Warriors whistled. “They have a statue of you? Wow, impressive.” None of his usual snark tainted the words, and the captain even looked vaguely uncomfortable as he stared at the fixture (if he remembered right, there was an exact replica in Cia’s rose garden).
“Like that.” Legend drawled, irritation on his face, but ears darkening and twitching in embarrassment. “I told Anbi not to but-”
The vet’s words were cut off by Hyrule running across the square and promptly smacking the statue. Legend’s irritated façade cracked to reveal a hurt expression beneath as he watched Hyrule wring his hands out and return to the group with a disappointed expression. “’Rulie?” The vet’s eyes shimmered with hurt as Hyrule shook his head.
“Nothing.” Came the disappointed sigh.
Legend was very nearly pouting out of hurt for a second before he shrugged it off stiffly and continued to lead them all through Lynna. Nothing was said of the statue hitting after that, save one time where Wars tried to bring it up only to be on the receiving end of a stink eye from the vet.
For not wanting a statue, Legend seemed rather hurt that Hyrule would hit the thing.
Wild was even more touchy, but it made sense that he would be, after all, the statue that Hyrule tried to go after next was, apparently, very important to the Champion.
They’d landed in Wild’s Hyrule again and the young hero was taking them all to the Zora’s Domain to investigate rumors about an infected lynel. Three heroes had flinched at the mere idea, and while time didn’t know what a lynel was, he was beginning to dread it, what with the hesitant murmurs and fearful looks shot between the trio.
They’d hardly entered the domain before Wild was suddenly catching hold of the traveler, prompting several curious looks from his party and from passer bys. But then they saw why.
Rising up in the center of the domain was a tall and graceful statue of a zora woman, and the minute Hyrule’s eyes fell on it he was surging forwards in Wild’s arms, barely held back as the Champion scowled.
“Rule, so help me, if you smack that statue I will toss you in the pools and not let you out for an hour!”
The traveler turned to his growling friend in confusion. “What?”
“Don’t hit her, that’s my fiancé.” Wild threatened softly, eyes glinting unnaturally blue as brows shot up.
“Sky could have said the same thing, yet here we are.” Legend drawled, earning curious looks from all those who hadn’t witnessed the first incident.
“But statues have rupees inside.” Hyrule blinked owlishly. “We’re hard up for funds, why shouldn’t I get us some.”
There was a moment of silence before Wild released the traveler with a weary sigh. “That’s not how it works here, ‘Rule.”
“Or in my world, I’d like to add.” Legend butted in, looking somewhat relieved.
Hyrule looked from one to another of their group, confusion clear on his face. “Then how do you get money?”
“I have a job.” Wars shrugged, and was echoed by both Twilight and Time himself, as Four motioned at the captain.
“I’m a smith.”
“I do odd jobs for people.” Wind added on.
“Same!” All anger had drained from Wild’s face as he smiled brightly at the sailr.
“I do landscaping work.” Legend drawled, inspecting a hand distractedly, nly to be met with th stars of the others. “Oh fine, I cut grass and blow shit up, happy?” He frowned in thought, cokcing his head. “And trees. I also work on trees. We also sell stuff out of the orchard and honey as well, and I kinda rent out the house to Ravio-”
“Point is.” Warriors broke through the vet’s murmurs. “We don’t hut statues for money. That would be considered rude in our worlds.”
Hyrule nodded. “Alright.”
And they thought that was the end of it.
The first time they saw a statue in Hyrule’s world, a goddess statue to be exact, Hyrule ran up and bopped the thing over the head, much to the horror of Sky.
A rupee bounced to the ground, glimmering and bright, prompting a smile from the traveler.
“But- but- but-”
“It’s just a pagan god.” Hyrule shrugged, rubbing the rupee off on his tunic. “And everyone does it here.”
Sky looked like he might either scold or cry, and Legend had devolved back into cackling, eyes watering as he looked up at his protégé with a fond smile.
Time shook his head. They all had their irregularities.

@allmightluver  I didn’t want to spam you and I figured a few others might enjoy this as well, so here is that fluffy dream snippet I promised to share.  <3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Toshi made a soft noise in his sleep.  The arm draped about Izuku tensed for a moment, as if trying to protect the boy.  Then it fell away, no longer a hindrance. "Nnnu... wakeup....." Izuku slumped against Toshi's chest, sticky eyelids closing. One last dissatisfied grunt, and he lost the battle to sleep far quicker than he should have. Toshi unknowingly returned the grunt, but it was a pleased, almost victorious grunt.  He shifted, Izuku's weight settling against him.  Satisfied, his breathing evened out. Golden afternoon sun painted the wall over their heads.
. .. ... .... The child clutched his backpack, eyes wide and nervous.  The roads didn't make sense here.  They should have.  They seemed almost familiar but each time he turned a corner, expecting to see home, the roads turned unfamiliar.  Home felt farther and farther away the more corners he turned. Unsettling fear crept in.  He just wanted to go home.  He looked about for help, trying to quell his panic. Everything was glaringly, dishearteningly, unfairly devoid of people.  The world loomed far too large and the child bit back a cry of terror. One more corner Surely someone is here. Please please His sneakers pounded the pavement as he rushed the next corner, as if hoping to catch the world in the act before it shifted on him again. However, he had also squeezed his eyes shut, scared that this new corner would also look unfamiliar.  So he didn't notice the big kid until he thudded off of him. "The hell?" the big kid snarled.  Behind him, two other big kids watched as the first grabbed the child by the front of his shirt and shook him.  "Why doncha watch where you're going?!" I know you The child's blue eyes lit with fear, trying not to glance at his backpack. please don't please don't please please One of the other big kids yanked the backpack from the child's hands, ignoring (or enjoying) the whimper. "What's the lil nerd got?" "Comics!" the third remarked, barking laughter.  He held up one.  "Wondorous Woman?!  That's a GIRL'S comic, you lil dweeb!" someone please "You don't need to read this crap!" PLEASE The third big boy gleefully tore the first page off, a messy diagonal rip.  The child screamed angrily and swiped at him. "Oh HO, the lil nerd's got spice!" the first one sneered.  "Let's show him what we think of that."  He pulled one meaty fist back. someone please help me!
A small figure barreled out of nowhere and shoved the bully out of the way. A (very) young voice screeched angrily "YOU LEAVE HIM ALONE!!" A freckled face that couldn't be more than six years old scrunched up with anticipation  of coming pain and righteous anger. The face flickered, as if reality was glitching, being replaced with an older, more tired version of itself. Eyes of thirteen years old glared out, far more subdued and cynical than they had any right to be. Jaw locked, arms up to guard his face. Daring the boys to come closer. Another, stronger flicker, and the small body grew taller, more muscular, green lightning flickering around. Standing as tall as his five foot six body would allow, broadened shoulders yelling a silent get lost, anger contained for fear of injuring the attacking children. One last flicker, a blurry form glitching into being. Six feet tall, eyes glowing powerfully. Blue(?) wings drooping heavily to the ground, a lion's growling half-roar cut off with a choked gasp as the apparition looked at his hands. A final, somehow loud flicker occurred, and the boy dropped to his knees, his form hovering indecisively between the ages of thirteen and eight. Whh-- wuuh....
"What the hell?!?"  The first bully dropped the blond child and backed up, unsure how to react to this new threat.  Beside him, his cohorts threw the backpack on the ground (spilling issues of Wondorous Woman everywhere) and bolted.  The first bully, dismayed at being abandoned, pointed a finger at the blond--"next time, you lil punk.  Freak," he added then quickly followed his friends. The child turned about, studying this new person-apparition with naked curiosity.  One hand reached out--whether to help or just touch, he wasn't sure.  He didn't seem scared but merely waited patiently for the newcomer to decide on a form.
The flickering boy's wide eyes turned to the outstretched hand, his own hand starting to reach out. The eyes focused on the face attached to the hand, suddenly becoming wider and more uncertain. Warped sounds of stressed whimpers carried through the air around him, and he pulled his hand back, wrapping his arms around his head protectively and curling into a ball, hiding from the world around him, until-- Quiet. A child of five years old peeked out from behind his arms and unfolded himself, looking up with soft round eyes at the curious blond sunburst.
A young Toshi gazed at an even younger Izuku I know you and the ten year old continued to hold out a helping hand, this time with a dazzling delighted grin. "HI there!  I'm Toshinori!  But you can call me Toshi if ya want.  That was pretty cool what you did just now.  You look really str--" He paused, remembering a moment ago the little kid had looked like some avenging angel, enveloped in crackling energy.  But his hand didn't waver. "--SUPER strong!  Plus Ultra Strong!  How did you do that?  Is it your Quirk?  Is this your all the time shape or just what you're ok with right now?  Sorry," he added with a sheepish grin, "I ask a lot of questions."
The small Izuku didn't speak, just made a soft noise, big eyes still staring. He took the outstretched hand in both of his, pulling himself up.
Toshi felt a warm glow within, his sheepish grin growing back to that brilliant delighted smile. I'm helping someone! At his feet, the torn Wondorous Woman comic fluttered and he blushed.  "Oh no, hang on a sec--!"
Izuku reached down and picked up one of the issues that had spilled, opening it curiously.
"That's Wondorous Woman!" young Toshi exclaimed.  "She's amazing and powerful and she can fly--i think--and she has this Quirk that makes an energy field that traps bad guys and make them tell the truth and--" He paused amid his fanboy gush and blushed more, twisting one bang nervously.  "Well, -I- think she's cool," he mumbled almost defensively.
A pudgy little finger poked at a picture of Wonderous Woman, then a whole hand brushed over the smooth page. Izuku looked up at Toshi again and nodded, agreeing that she was cool. He wondered if the blond boy had ever heard  of his favorite hero. "...All Might?"
Toshi's brow furrowed, as if almost remembering some lovely dream.  Then he shrugged.  "Never heard of them.  That's an awesome name, though--did you make that up?  All Might," he said, testing the name out and unconsciously posing, fists on hips and chest puffed out.  "If I was a hero, that'd be a great name!  But..." He laughed lightly and messed his own hair up.  "I bet you'd make a great hero with that Quirk of yours!"
Izuku's face dropped, and he seemed to shrink into himself, mouth shut tight.
"You don't like talking about it?  I'm sorry!"  Toshi sat on the ground next to the little boy, then hugged his knees to his chest.  "Is there something you do like?"  The young blond smiled cheerfully.
Izuku's eyes flicked around nervously, still not talking. He mirrored Toshi's pose, sitting down and pulling his knees up. He held out the comic, offering it back if Toshi wanted it.
Toshi grinned again.  "Go ahead, you can keep it--wait!"  He dug into his backpack where a few issues remained.  "Let me get you my favorite one--and it's not torn or dirty.  Here!"  He almost bounced in glee but instead contained himself.  "This one is super important.  This is when Wondorous Woman goes up against her arch nemesis--that's a super awful bad guy," he explained to the little boy.
Izuku leaned closer, interested.
"And he's kidnapped all her friends and hidden them away and he's fighting Wondorous Woman but making her think no one is coming to help." He remembered the first time he read this particular issue.  Hiding under his blanket with a flashlight so as not to bother his roommate at the foster home.  Scared of being caught and made fun of... but even more scared for Wondorous Woman.  Whispering tiny words of encouragement to his favorite hero with each page turn, praying she wouldn't give in or give up. "And just when all hope seemed lost," he said in a dramatic voice.  "Just when it looked like she was going to lose the fight, her friends showed up!"  His eyes shone, whether with love for Wondorous Woman or for her faithful companions coming to her aid or both, it was hard to tell.  "And they beat the arch nemesis and saved the day!" And everyone went home happy. Young Toshi ran a hand over the comic fondly then passed it to the little green haired kid.  "Here!"
The small boy shook his head, pushing it back gently. "Noo... yours!"
"It's a thank you gift!" Toshi insisted.  "Please take it."
"But..." He looked at the comic in his hands, brows wrinkling sadly. "S'your favorite... dun wanna take it away...."
"But it would make me happy sharing with you and maybe you'll like her, too!"
The boy made an uncertain face, cradling the comic to his chest. His face showed a hint of a flicker, and he breathed in sharply, reflexively clutching tighter.
Young Toshi smiled.  "Thank you," he said.
Wide green eyes stared back, as if to ask what comes next? What now?
Toshi gathered the rest of his comics and put them in his backpack... then held that out to the kid as well.  He quickly looked away before he could regret it, instead looking about for the kid's parents. "Do you want to go home now?" where is home?
Izuku took the heavy bag with a grunt of effort, eventually letting it rest on the ground. Okay, I'll carry it for you... it's kinda heavy though. He looked up at the question. "...What?"
"Home?  Where you live?  Your parents?"  He tilted his head at the kid struggling and shouldered the backpack himself, then held out a hand to the little boy.  "Wouldn't they be worried you're out alone?"
Izuku's eyebrows wrinkled more, genuinely confused. "Parents?" He wrinkled his nose, vague memories of green hair and soft noises floating through his memory, but not much taking shape. A...alone? Something cold and frightening started to scrape at his heart.
"They're big people that  love you.  They feed you when you're hungry and play with you when you're bored and take care of you when you're sick and--" Toshi's brow furrowed and he brushed his free hand over his eyes.  Then he smiled sunnily down at the little kid.  "I bet you have parents looking for you right now!"
Izuku shook his head, eyes sinking towards the ground. "No." He was sure without really knowing why.
"No?  That can't be true!  You have a great Qu--" His heart hurt to see the little kid he just met so sad.  He knelt down, squeezing the small fingers twined with his. "--what I mean is, if you want, I can be uh--" a dad?  Not old enough.  Family?  But they just met.  Brother?  Maaaaybe? "--we can stick together till we find someone, ok?  How's that?  Much nicer than being alone."
Izuku looked up wonderingly. Then down at the hand that held his. He stepped a little closer, leaning against Toshi in something like a hug. I like you.
Toshi was wide eyed for a startled moment.  Then the biggest grin yet spread across his face.  And some warm feeling glowed in his chest again, happy that the little kid felt safe around him.  "C'mon," he said.  "Lemme show you my favorite spot by the river and we can read all the comics!"
A small smile sprang to life on Izuku's face, then grew to a big grin. "Okay!!" He wrapped his arms around Toshi's neck, ready to be picked up.
"Oompf!!"  The kid's weight, coupled with his backpack, made Toshi stagger and he wished for a moment that he was stronger.  But the little kid's smile fueled his energy and Toshi proudly carried both kid and comics.
Little Izuku giggled, happily looking about from his new vantage point.
Toshi giggled too then wrinkled his nose as his bangs got caught in his mouth.  He didn't want to put his little friend down.  "Cou' you ge' my 'air?"
"Huh?" Izuku took a second to get it. "Oh, uh-huh." He pulled Toshi's bang out of his mouth and dropped it, wrinkling his nose and grinning. "Eeeeeeww."
Toshi laughed even harder, his heart swelling with joy.  He jogged along the river bank, trying not to jostle the kid.  "Yeah, eating hair isn't smart," he snickered.  "Extra not my hair--it's loooong!"
Izuku took hold of the other bang, looking at it intently as he bounced along. "Shiny. Like it."
Toshi blinked as the bang's end got in his eyes.  "Thanks.  Could you hold it out of the way so I can see, please?"
Izuku held it up above Toshi's head, still gazing at it and rubbing the strands between his fingers, fixated on how gold it was in the sunlight.
The pair trotted merrily along, soon at Toshi's favorite tree.  He knew he was supposed to put the kid down now but somehow, doing so felt like losing a part of himself. weird, huh? "Uhm," he said.
"Mm?" Izuku dropped the bang and started patting Toshi's head, smushing the floof.
Toshi scrunched his face happily.  "Kid!" he said, squatting down and letting small feet touch the ground.  "Thanks, I think?"  He felt his hair, a bit messier than usual but smooshed with love.
Izuku sat down on the ground, looking up at Toshi. His gaze drifted up towards the tree branches, and he laid down on his back, staring up at them and smiling. One hand reached up as if to touch them.
Toshi flopped beside him, grinning. home? And the grin flickered to confusion for a moment.  What? h o m e? He looked to the little kid he just met, the little kid who had saved him, and Toshi felt an overwhelming desire to protect this small person with his small but powerful smiles. He too reached one hand up toward the branches.
So I've talked before about my burning desire to go and build a separatist tribe of women in nature, preferably in forest next to a mountain or somewhere far out so that nobody would bother us. I've been keeping on building that dream in my head, but also in many practical ways, trying to prepare myself for it. This tribe would have to function out of capitalism, off grid, without the use of money or even electricity, unless one day I figure out how to produce some. So we use only technology that is not harmful to nature and produce everything we need to survive.
It sounds so surreal, but it's not a particularly wild idea, because humans have been doing this for millenia and lived, I presume, with way less of their population depressed and suicidal. It wasn't more than 80 years ago humans lived without electrity or modern commodities, my 85yo neighbour can still remember bathing in collected rainwater and washing the clothes in the river. (Don't worry, we wont have to wash the clothes in the river, I found a way.)
So what I'm proposing is in fact, far more reasonable, climate conscious and healthy than living in capitalism, only problem is: It's less convenient.
We're to assume it's convenience that brings us comfort and happiness, but I'm about to propose a counter-argument: It's not. It's boring and makes everything very impersonal and unsatisfactory. I can tell, but only because I've been shifting into that inconvenient, more-effort-put into survival kind of life. And, it's been a very fun, weird time.
So as you can see by my posts, I've been learning to grow food and to make meals from self-grown food only, and eating feels different. It's far from impersonal when you bring a handful of seeds into life, then harvest and store and eat that; you know where this food has been. You know the food's story and it's been interlaced with your own story to the point where it's no longer something you consume, you have memories with that food. It means something to you. And, it's way, WAY harder to throw it away. You do not waste what you build up from scratch.
I've also been venturing into other self-sustaining missions, like, cleaning products and preserving resources as you would in nature, figuring out hygiene without capitalism, and this is where my life got weird. If I wanna wash my hair, I go and make tea, then wash my hair in that. Funny snippet, lemon balm tea actually darkens your hair the more you use it, people in my life now legit think my hair is black, it's not! It's brown but the herb made it so dark nobody can tell. I've since found out there are also herbs that make your hair lighter, or even give it a blue-ish glow! That is way fun. Washing hair like this is a more effort than shampoo, but I feel different about it. Proud I did that, or just happy I never have to buy a shampoo maybe.
If I wanna do laundry I'll go and cut open some conkers, since I still have a bag of unprocessed ones and they work as a detergent. If I wanna clean something I use vinegar I infused with orange peel, it smells amazing. If I need to go to the bathroom I'll skip on toilet paper and use family cloth. Now what is that? I actually heard someone on youtube say that word and researched it and found out that before toilet paper, people used rectangular strips of white cloth, to clean themselves, and they were all washed so it was reusable and wasted no resources since you could cut any old cotton shirt into strips and use it. Now a lot of people react with 'ewww' but hear me out: you don't use it for number two unless you have a washing liquid to immediately throw it into (I don't), and, do you throw away any underwear that you've used just once? They get about as filthy as that and then you put them thru boil cycle in the washing machine, they take so little space inside it's forgettable, and you can use them forever. I actually only had to buy toilet paper once, this entire year. 10/10. Also, extremely comfy and soft to use. If anyone wondered.
I also cook my food in weird ways, mostly having it wrapped in towels instead on a stove top, I rarely heat any bathroom water and either use cold or I also discovered I love heating a pot of water and just spilling it over myself instead of showering, it feels so good! It's so gentle and pleasant, showers are agressive and mean in comparison, it's like they hate you and are trying to spray you away. Water gently spilling from a pot on your body loves you and wants you to be happy and experience pleasure and love.
So I'm not trying to brag too much here but I haven't visited a grocery store in two months (figured out how to buy flour directly from the company lol) and maybe visited them 7 times this year altogether, isn't that kinda wild? And yes I'm giving myself a little star for good pandemic behaviour. I earned that. I just seem to not need stuff anymore unless they're oil and flour and maybe some salt and sugar. And it wasn't ... that hard. I mean okay, poverty and general anxiety are fueling my behaviour for sure, but it feels very much like... it's not that impossible to do without stuff, if you're crazy stubborn and don't have many alternatives.
I've also been prepairing for this life in a savage hermit hoarder type of matter; I've collected jars obsessively, stored every little produce net or bag that anyone brought to my place, I collect dumb promotional newspapers to start fires with in the future, and I can make baskets out of it, I stored every plastic cup or container ever because I can grow seedlings in those, I collected all seeds in any way available to me, I don't throw away any fabric anymore bc I can sew new things, any soft and spongy textured thing is stored to make seating space on future chairs and cushions, and I value every bit of knowledge coming my way only in regard to how it could help me survive.
I haven't figured out the medicinal side of this, or the social aspect, but at this point it feels very wrong for me to be in a city, renting out an apartment, and then living half like a little savage on the side and refusing to go to the store. I should be in my little cob house dammit, and cooking in my cauldron on top of a fire. I should be bathing in rainwater and have plants on every surface of my home. I should have soil available to grow all my food. And optimally have a big swing and a tree house and an obstacle course in the forest. I wanna drink water that I discovered in a spring or collected from rain and filtered with the coal I made. I wanna know how earthen floors feel under my bare feet.
So anyways, how many of you'd wanna join a tribe where we live in cob houses and tell stories around a fire and change our hair color with tea and presumably spill water over each other because hygiene is important? Also we never shave or care abt how our faces look and we shed the light onto downfall of capitalsm because I feel like, if we all (the population) just bought flour, oil sugar and salt, a lot of things would go down super fast.
For the writing meme thingy: 🍄how do you get yourself in the mood to write? 🍑 do you/would you write smut? 📒 any fics planned?
🍄 How do you get yourself in the mood to write?
Getting in the mood to write and actually wanting to sit down and start writing are two very different things, but they're connected, so I'll explain both.
To set into “creative mode” it helps me to do these things:
Listen to music that makes me think of a character/situation in my story/stories. I've got playlists separated by character and pairing. Sometimes I also just work on curating those playlists for fun and get my brain going.
Bounce overall ideas off of my friends and husband/editor (but he's my best friend, too 💗)
Reread old chapters or recent ones and future snippets based on what I want to do.
Once I actually want to put words down, I get a little more strict with myself. I get distracted verrrry easily sometimes and I have to fight the urge to open a million more tabs when researching a small detail.
I move to instrumental music (I have playlists for different moods like “emotional”, “soft”, “sad”, etc. I usually listen to “soft” as a general soothing background sound, as I can get pretty dang emotional when I write, especially with the stuff I've been churning out lately.
So, yeah, I need tissues within reach if I get upset. (Wow, I'm not making this sound fun at all, lmao)
After sound has been established, I like to eat a snack (something with protein) because I can be under for hours, lol. Eat it and finish it. Otherwise, I get distracted.
I also like to have drinks available. I always have a bottle of water, but I also like having a hot cup of tea. I think it's the time of year for me to switch to cold barley tea.
I write while seated on a recliner with my feet up. I have my laptop on a lap desk and it's a pretty cozy setup.
I basically try to remove any excuse I have to get up once I start writing, because I am the worst procrastinator I know.
🍑Do you/would you write smut?
Heheh... heck yeah, I do. Waaaaay more than most people realize. Stuff I've actually posted? It's pretty limited. I posted a couple pieces (Let Me Love You and You're Like the Sunshine) a few years ago, but I've been practicing ever since. One of my planned stories literally has what I refer to as a “smut dump” in the draft where I've been experimenting with writing different moods. I like the intimate scenes to play a role in the overall plot or have it be a bonding experience.
Despite that, I do have a shameless Gray x Mary story I should just get out there that has zero plot, just two cuties in love. In my mind it's so naughty and kinky and I get flustered thinking about it (Mary is hot, okay?), but it's probably hella vanilla, lmao. I really am grateful that people have been really supportive about my writing smut despite what I usually write, and they've been so encouraging, too! I honestly feel like the smut I've posted is really stilted because I was so self-conscious about it. I don't feel like they are terrible for first attempts, but I have definitely grown more comfortable writing it.
Will The Shy Newcomer become explicit? I kinda really want it to, but I might separate the chapters for those who don't care for that content. Overall, I'd like to write more and post more, and I want to write more than just male x female smut as well. I have some of those in my planned pieces (more about them later).
📒 Any Fics Planned?
Firstly, I'm super tickled more than one person was interested in this. I copied the answer I wrote earlier.
Short answer: Yes. I also plan to bring more of my stories over from ffn to Ao3.
Long answer under the cut, heheh. I rambled quite a bit.
Ask me about my writing processes and stories!
I have so many WIPs that haven’t been touched in years that I’d like to finish, so new planned fics aren’t posted yet. Some of them have more adult themes than most of the stuff I’ve been writing, so I get flustered sharing them. I’ve been at a crossroads, as I feel that you can’t have growth without changing things up. On the other hand, I feel like a lot of my readers associate my works with a specific “wholesome” feel-good mood. It’s kinda nice to be known for something, although that might just be my ego talking, thinking that people recognize my work as a “type”.
Regardless, in the end, I feel growth is necessary.
I don’t want to leave a lot of unfinished WIPs waiting because they stress me out and I have too many of them already, so I’d like to have a bulk of my new stories with a good chunk written before I decide to post them.
Among those include:
A longfic featuring Pete’s farm in Forget-Me-Not Valley (A blend of HMDS with the FoMT plugin and AWL). It takes place in the same universe as The Shy Newcomer (Claire in Mineral Town) and there are a few overlapping moments, although Pete’s story starts first. Pete’s personality is verrry different from Claire’s, and his story was kind of supposed to be the yang to TSN’s yin. Pete’s best friends in his story are Ruby (not sure if I’m adding Tim yet), Nami, and Rock. Readers will be treated to a poorly-socialized pre-Mineral Town Cliff (if you think he was bad at the beginning of TSN, well… heh… he’s a wreck here).
Another planned unpublished story is a crossover of Harvest Moon and the movie “In This Corner of the World”, based on a manga of the same name by Fumiyo Kouno. It was written as a gift for a friend. I have the entire outline figured out and have slowly been filling it in. My friend asked for an AU where Claire and Cliff have an arranged marriage and live with his family in Akiyama, the hometown I had created for Cliff in The Shy Newcomer. I took the opportunity to expand the characters in his family. I have it written during the same time period and society as “In This Corner of the World”, but had decided to write a spreading disease as an allegory for war, but then COVID happened and some parts of it just got really hard to write. There are also a lot of sexually explicit content as Claire slowly grows and learns from her spouse that it’s okay to express what she wants despite sex being a taboo issue. If there’s enough interest in the story, I’ll post it, but I worry it’s a little too niche for there to be many people into it.
Pastor Carter and Doctor Trent are one of my favorite rare pair ships. I’ve had a partial draft for a story about them for a few years now, especially focusing on Trent growing up and acknowledging that he has an unhealthy addiction for things that he knows he can’t have. There are some more adult/sexual themes in this piece, too, including the main character lusting after a married woman (who also happens to be his patient) and some lemons. (Does anyone call it that anymore or is it just referred to as “smut” nowadays? Haha) I always feel so bad for neglecting the folks at the clinic in-game and wanted to write a piece that focused more on them, Trent specifically. It’s a multi-chap fic, but I don’t think I’m going to let it get as long as some of my other pieces.
I also really want to write a short romantic oneshot for every marriage candidate in Mineral Town, around 1,000 words each. So far, I have one for Cliff and one for Gray. I want to write Claire with everyone, because I think it would be fun to explore all the different personalities.
I have more installments planned for A Single Day, including a day in the life of the following characters, all with drafts in varying degrees of progress:
Anna
Doug
Nora (yes, I’m writing from the point of view of the cat living at the inn)
More to come – I think Lillia and Thomas would be especially interesting to explore
I do still have that Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask piece I’ve been pondering where Link befriends the soul of the deku scrub child while possessed by the mask. I don’t have much written about it, but I really love the world of Majora’s Mask. Such a fun game.
I also think about the lead carpenter’s son in Ocarina of Time and that weird side quest involving the blue chicken and the son being lost to the forest. Then that unique-looking kokiri girl explaining that all who get taken in the lost woods become stalfos. Like, did the guy die? Was he sick? Did he want to die? There’s just so much going on there that would be fun to explore.
I also have played OMORI recently and have like… A LOT of feelings about it. I don’t know what I’d write, but I’m still damn impressed at how well the characters are developed in such a short game.
Other games I’ve had vague ideas about writing for include the following:
The Flame in the Flood: I’m thinking a survivalist/action story fleshing out Scout’s backstory a bit more and her thoughts as she’s traveling. I feel like she’s a very lonely person, but isn’t given the chance to really dwell on it.
Night In the Woods: I’d love to write more about Mae’s dreams and what they mean to her. She doesn’t really talk to anyone about them openly, so it’s really hard to tell her feelings about them in some regards. We know that she’s distressed about them, but I’d like to dive a little deeper. Do the nightmares end after the games does? What about Bea’s new nightmares?
Hades (Supergiant Games): I think it would be fun to write more about the events that take place before the game starts, like Zagreus’s duties in the house of Hades, and expand on the strained relationship with his father.
15, 16, 18 please!
Tbf I also had a very hard time deciding because I want to ask you all of them as well but let's see what you've got for me here!
15: Which is harder: titles or summaries (or tags)? Definitely the tags. The titles simply pop into my mind, often unbidden while I'm doing something else entirely--which is why at least the last four fics have been named either by microbiology or something else study-related. There's a word, or some lyrics, or a simple phrase that I come across and it just latches on and insists on being used. Summaries are similar, although I'm kinda taking the easy way out by trying to figure out what the fic is about in the most basic sense, which is how you get those extremely vague one-line descriptions I've used lately. And tags... tags are a nightmare. I've got a few standard ones I always use, but when it comes to actually tagging the fic for what's in there, I never know. I just bullshit my way through it. 16: Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?) Hoo boy, what wasn't new ever since I started writing again in June 2021. First Horizon fic. First fic in present tense. First fic from a 2nd person POV. Overcame the fear of writing following Ikrie's perspective. Totally re-organised the way I write fics by putting the unchronological snippets my brain inevitably comes up with into a separate notebook, and insist on writing chronologically when it comes to the actual doc. It's mind-boggling, really. And might've been just the push I needed to find joy in it again. 18: Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them. Most of these were minor things that came to change naturally over the course of plotting/writing. In You, All Things wasn't supposed to have a kiss. Linger was supposed to start with Aloy already in the Cut, and the entire first part with Talanah and then Rost's grave were never planned to be a part of it until they suddenly were. (The very first note on this one reads: "this is supposed to be a short (!!!) fic of Aloy yearning so PLEASE keep that in mind else you'll have to flip (read: gently turn over) the kitchen table") Unfold Your Empty Space was originally intended to be written from Ikrie's perspective but was changed over the course of the gloves dilemma. (Fun fact: this is why it begins with "The stars are different this far south.") There was also a part where Ikrie tackles Aloy, plunging both of them into the nearby, pretty cold river, effectively stopping Aloy's internal crisis.
The ‘Cursed’ Witch of the Woods and the Golden Dragon.
More about this au under the cut. As well as a little snippet of them truly meeting for the first time. (Grammar errors and swapping tenses are bound to be littered throughout. I am not a writer)
Akira grows up with a reputation of being a cursed witch. Sure in a world of magic, mystical creatures/fae, etc. not all of it is bad, but some is. He always believed in in giving creatures a chance even those with bad reputations or commonly hunt. Does he actually curse anyone? Probably has the ability too but would never do it without good reason.  Still doesn’t help his case. A few bad spells and being seen by the wrong people his fate was sealed. His looming reputation for having “dark” magic and being caught helping the creatures of the forest he eventually gets outcasted and ends up living deep in the thick of the forest.
He builds/finds a home there and spends his time studying. Being out in the wilderness with access to flora and herbs, he excels in making potions, teas, salves, etc with various properties. He also continues helping fae when he can if they’re not hostile. Through his kindness he’s actually able to study some more thoroughly than others ever before since most creatures are usually chased out of their habitats or hunted so data on them is inaccurate and outdated.
No one actively seeks him out and he is able to go back into town for trade and supplies but he’s still not the most welcomed individual even after being outcasted for some time.   As for where Ryuji comes in there was a hunting party that went out after rumors of a golden dragon had been seen around the area. Dragons are commonly hundred for sport and their scales, bones, and organs are worth a lot of money because of their various uses. A golden dragon just happens to be a jackpot due to the rarity of the coloring in their scales. Obviously the fighting goes south. The hunting party is badly hurt and has to retreat as the dragon managed to escape. It shouldn’t be too hard to find anyways. Even though it didn’t appear full grown, the beast was badly hurt. It wouldn’t be too hard to find where it scurried off too even if they took some time to regroup.
While this is happening Akira is out collecting some herbs and notices the destruction of the area. His curiosity getting the best of him he investigates where the damage leads... And finds a boy piled in a heap..
Little did anyone really know is that dragons can take on humanoid forms. While not all their features can be hidden, it’s not obvious they’re a dragon. Why would Ryuji even change when he’s hurt so badly? The smaller you are the easier it is to hide.
Akira’s not blind, he can tell Ryuji is some sort of magic but can't put his finger on it. (Not like he's really ever interacted with dragons before) But for right now it doesn’t matter. He sees a half dead fae in front of him and he sure as hell not going to sit around doing nothing. With a bit of a struggle he manages to haul the other back to his place, great his wounds, and give him his bed to sleep. ———— Ryuji wakes up with a start. The strong smell of herbs and spices fills his nostrils. It's honestly not something he's used to and it adds onto his building panic and stress. Akira is just off to the side reading. Hearing him rouse, he’s not particularly alarmed since most people would be tense waking up after something like that.Ryuji whips his head and can't help but follow his instincts seeing a human, lunging at him while transforming back into a dragon. Terrible idea really because pain courses through his body.
Oh shit I just let a dragon into my house....Akira pales as he's pinned. The beast above him growling I in both pain and anger. "H-Hey... Its okay! I'm not going to hurt you!" He wished his voice came out more calm but  the combination of getting the wind knocked out of you and having something with very sharp teeth that could rip through your throat looming over you is a bit panic inducing..
The quick bit of adrenaline Ryuji felt is sapped from his body. His grip loosening with a wince. Still trying to keep up the facade a low growl continues coming out from him.
The raven frowns seeing this. One moment he sees his life flash before his eyes and the next he still finds himself feeling sympathy for the creature attacking him. "You're still hurt. As much as understand you don't want to see a human right now you need to rest. Going outside in your condition is a death sentence..." He finds it easy to push back against the claws that holds him down. It helps the beast seems to be backing off a bit more. "Now back to bed with you. Big lizard or not you need sleep. What ever form your more comfortable in." Akira says with a huff, gaining some confidence back. "This is the safest place in the woods. No other human is going to venture out here. At least without me knowing about it. Whether you believe me or not is up to you. Whether you stay or not is also your choice. By all mean the bed is yours until you need it."
Ryuji blinks. The gall of this human ordering him around. Well, he doesn’t seem like a threat for now so he slinks back off to the bed. It creaks at the weight of his dragon form and he can see the human wince as it bows under him. He smirks to himself for a moment seeing the displeasure, but he figures he should give them a reason to take back his hospitality and changes back.
Akira clicks his tongue in frustration once the dragon is settled back in bed. Some of the bandages starting to turn crimson.  “Wait here.” He leaves the room and rummages around for some jars and bandages.
Ryuji can help but sit up and bare his teeth a little as he approaches again. What the fuck does this human want? He just said to rest, why is he coming over now?
Akira puts up his hands defensively. “I’m not going to hurt you, I promise! I just want to fix your bandages and put some more salve on them.” He places everything out on the edge of the bed so the dragon can see. He even opens up the jars and offers one up for the dragon to smell.
It doesn’t smell good, but it doesn’t smell bad either.. just kind of earthy.. maybe a little minty?
“You obviously don’t like me or trust me that much, I get it. Just let me know if anything hurts and I’ll stop.” Akira says calmly trying to keep the peace between them. His movements are slow and careful, his eyes flicking back up to the dragons face to see signs of displeasure.
The salve burns a little which earns a hiss of pain but quickly turns into a numb, tingling sensation that Ryuji isn’t opposed to. He’s honestly surprised with how much this stranger is doing for him. Big gashes seem to have been sewn up and everything except bruising seems to be taken care of. Humanoid skin allows for wounds to be more easily sutured together, though it is still tougher than a normal humans. Small faint patches of scales also litter which can cause bigger road blocks for non-dragons tools. He’s honestly surprised at the determination to help..
“I knew you weren’t human... but I didn’t really expect a dragon either. I honestly didn’t know dragons even had a human form.” Akira rambles as he works. “I mean sure I saw the scales, the claws, and your horns... but honestly you could’ve been a number of things? I don’t know. I’ve been in the forest for years now and I still keep finding new things and creatures.” He runs a hand through his bangs to push them out of the way unintentionally getting some salve on his forehead.
Cute
“I just found you while looking for some herbs in the woods. There was this big trail of blood and signs of stuff getting dragged around. Then there was you collapsed in a pile, bruised and bleeding. I couldn’t just let you sit there. I didn’t know if you were attacked by something and left for dead, running away, or anything really. I just kinda acted without thinking.” He flushes slightly and scratches his cheek. “I kind of do that a lot. I help a lot of fae around here and sometimes it really bites me in the butt. But I can just sit by and do nothing if someone needs help.” He tightens the last bandage. “But enough about me. What about you? Do you have a name? I’d like to be able to call you something if you’re going to be here for a bit. You can call me Akira.”
Ryuji thinks for a minute, more of processing everything that happening/being said than anything else.
“Oh I’m sorry! You seemed to understand common. Do no not speak it?” Akira says sounding a bit embarrassed, misunderstanding the moment of silence between them.
“Ryuji.” The blonde responds. “My name is Ryuji.”
