Normally, when I see posts like this, I ignore it cuz it's nothing serious to argue over, but I just feel like giving some fair points about it.

I can agree that not every single episode has to revolve around Charlie. There are still some characters we are curious about and want to dive into, but here's the thing;

The problem is we're already 4 eps in and most of them hardly contain Charlie and the plot of the whole show, not to mention they're fast-paced with the show cramming in new characters and the plot containing them as much as possible without even taking the time. Our 4th episode in and we already have Adam, Lute, Vox, Valentino, Velvette, Camilla (her daughters included), Zestial, the other overlords, etc. All these characters and we're not even in episode 5 yet!! I'm surprised Cherri Bomb hasn't even shown up! She was in the pilot and had a whole speaking role and everything while the three Vees and the Overlords didn't.

EP 1: Charlie takes her father's place in having a meeting with the Angels meanwhile Vaggie tries to make a commercial about the hotel with the assistance of the staff. Okay, we were off to an alright start. Though I wish the ep didn't go back and forth with Charlie and Vaggie. I feel like 1 half of the ep should've been about one person while the other half focused on another.

EP 2: The three Vs are introduced. We see that Vox and Alastor hate each other and he, along with Val and Vel, figure out a way to keep Charlie from ever striking a deal with Alastor. Why they are trying to do this? I dunno, it's never explained really. They get Sir Pentious to spy on Charlie and Alastor by seeming to Charlie that he's interested in rehabilitation. Meanwhile, Angel's feeling all upset about it and we're given a hint at him and what his relationship is like with Valentino. (Charlie was present, but overall, this episode was not about her).

EP 3: Alastor arrives at a meeting with the other overlords (Camilla n them). It's a meeting about . . . Idk, it was a meeting. Velvette comes in and reveals she's found the head of one of the exorcists which is a shock to Camilla (because she secretly was the one that killed the exorcist). Meanwhile, Vaggie tries to help Charlie figure out how the staff can have trust and bond with each other. (This episode kinda involves Charlie, but we're mainly focused on Vaggie and how she feels she doesn't do much for her. Crazy thing is someone apart from Viv or Adam wrote this and much better than either of them could write a page.)

EP 4: We immediately jump into the Angel Dust arc where we focus on him and his situation dealing with Valentino. Meanwhile, he continuously argues with Husk but then they make up and become friends in the end. (Charlie's only there for the first half of the episode while just barely being there for the second. Aside from that, this episode wasn't about her at all.)

Y'all see what I mean?

Also, Viv said that Hazbin Hotel was a female-focused show where it is centered around Charlie and even Vaggie, so of course we're gonna expect more of them instead of the rest of the characters.

It was always hard sleeping without him. It felt foreign to not have his strong arm slung across her waist and being pulled close. Her worrying about Kento kept her up at night and the sickness of her stomach definitely wasn't helping. She was planning on telling him when he came back but every hour that felt like less and less of a reality. However, hearing her bedroom door crack open in the late evening soothed all of her worries.

"You're back," She gushed, her eyes watering and her lover had only been standing in the doorway for a few seconds. He quickly made his way to the bed where she was lying and wrapped his arms around her neck. He took a deep breath and inhaled the scent of her favorite lotion before bed.

"Of course, I am," He could feel her tears slip onto his neck. She knew the risks of his job but it still didn't help when he was gone. Especially, after she was told what they were up against. She had complete faith in her man but the dangers of the world made it scary.

"I had a dream that you-" She could barely finish the words and just wanted to be closer to him.

"Shh, it's okay," He wanted to settle her emotions. He wanted to tell her that everything would be okay but if he could get her to stop crying that would be enough for now.

"I have something to tell you," She pulled away from him ever so slightly. He hadn't noticed what she was wearing before but the soft pink silk nightie with spaghetti straps fell perfectly on her and matched her bonnet. He noticed just a small bump coming from her stomach before he left but he thought that maybe she had been stress eating again.

"What is it? What's wrong?" He said looking at her up and down. His hands rested on her cheeks as he looked for a physical ailment.

"We're gonna have a baby," She whispered as she took his hands from her to her stomach. A small smile grew on the blond man's lips.

"Yeah?" He whispered back.

"Yeah," She nodded with excitement. It's safe to say that Nanami Kento made some lifestyle changes after this moment.

- Nanami took a deep breath as he exited their beach house. He worked hard so that he could see this view. He made sure that his wife and child were safe. Walking along the beach, he found his wife on a lounge chair in the sand in a one-piece bathing suit that complimented her rich and dark skin. He placed a kiss on her forehead and stood next to her.

"How are you, my love?" He asked looking outward and seeing his daughter work diligently on her sandcastle. For a five-year-old with pigtails, she was very serious but she got it from her father. Her attitude came directly from her mother, and Nanami blamed the fact that Gojo annoyed her the entire pregnancy.

"Our daughter is a hard worker like her father," She said pulling her phone out of the beach bag to take a quick photo of their daughter's precious moment. The girl turned to wave and smile at her parents before continuing to shovel dirt into her bucket.

"But she's stubborn like her mother," He said without missing a beat.

"Haha," Y/N faked a laugh before handing her husband his sunscreen. As much as Nanami enjoyed the beach and the sun, he was prone to burning.

"Itadori is coming for a visit," He stated with a bit of pride in his chest. Yuuji had grown to see them as a second family and visited as much as he could.

"She adores him," Y/N stated adjusting her overly floppy hat and looking up at her husband.

"Maybe it's time we give her another sibling," Now that he had retired there was no reason for him not to have the family that he always wanted.

"Is that so?" She whispered.

"Mhm," He leaned down and kissed her. Kento also may or may not have asked Yuuji to babysit while he was here. Let's just say he was more than ready for another kid.

I've put this off for far too long, it's time for my dissertation on why I'm not a huge fan of how Oliver Chen has been handled so far in The Ghost and Molly McGee. But first, two disclaimers:

1) These opinions are mine and mine alone. I'm not here to change anyone's mind or claim that they're wrong. Entertainment is subjective by its very nature, and it's up to the individual to decide what they do and don't enjoy and why.

2) Because I know people are gonna accuse me of this: it has nothing to do with shipping. Honestly I kinda like Mollie, I think they could be cute together.

As for my issues with Ollie, it boils down to two key points: it doesn't feel like he was organically integrated into the cast, and his character arc feels just a little rushed.

First off, there's how Ollie was added to the cast. Episode one of season two has him and the Chens move in and get introduced to our main characters, which worked. After that though, Ollie was just sort of there. In Book Marks the Spot Libby just knows who Oliver is, without us getting to see the two formally meet or even see Molly tell her about him. It's even worse in I Wanna Dance with Some-Ollie, where the first time we see Ollie with the extended school cast has them all be familiar with him and shipping Mollie.

What I feel like we needed was a First Day of School episode for Ollie, like Molly got back in season one. This would have allowed Ollie to be properly introduced to the kid supporting cast. Also Libby, Andrea and the rest could have picked up on the obvious mutual attraction between Ollie and Molly, which could have then led into them all shipping Mollie in the dance episode. As it stands, it feels like Ollie simple didn't get enough screentime being settled in, so his role in the main cast feels hollow as a result.

Then there's Ollie's character arc. By episode seven he's already reached the Redeemed Ghost Hunter step. Said episode, Frightmare on Main Street, was the only time we saw him actively hunting ghosts. The two times before - the above episodes - only had him stopping around with ghost detecting equipment, but not actually hunting them. Furthermore the Chens didn't even actively hunt ghosts in the backstory; they state flat out in episode seven that the Frightmares were the first time they actually took to the field as ghost hunters.

What I'm saying is for Ghost Hunter being a big part of Ollie's character, not only do we barely see him hunting ghosts but it turns out he hardly ever hunted them to begin with. As a result, his big emotional speech one episode later in The Unhaunting of Brighton Video about how sorry he is for hunting ghosts falls kind of flat to me. It feels like they're trying to force sympathy for Ollie when we only saw him do the thing he feels so awful about once.

But despite these complaints, I want to make it clear that I don't hate Ollie. Like I said, I do find his and Molly's interactions to be sweet, and I'm honestly interested in the inevitable conflict between Ollie and the rest of his ghost hunting family. But when it comes to the other season two plotlines - Scratch’s backstory, his ongoing feud with Jinx and the upcoming issues with the Davenports when a new megastore comes to Brighton - Oliver Chen ranks pretty low on the interest scale.

Like I said though, all of this was my opinion. If you have another point of view or a rebuttal to any of these points, don't hesitate to let me know.

fellas that last ted lasso episode. hmm.

listen i'll be real no matter what im gonna be out here gushing abt trent crimm cause he's my special little guy and im obsessed with him, but considering the Literal Paragraphs ive been writing abt all the shit i LIKED about the show, i didn't know how else to process these Less Good emotions than by blurting it all out over like two hours (instead of doing the dishes, lmao).

tldr; s3e2 was such an emotional high point for me, since i really felt like it had something concrete + specific to say about physical violence + social/emotional violence, and how they're BOTH highly valued as masculine ideals. but the episodes since then...

it kind of feels like im watching the result of a long and bloody fight between different writers? writers who, apparently, wanted Very different things from this last season, so now we're getting this. bizarro world mish-mash of two hypothetical shows, where tone + content + themes vary WILDLY and inconsistently from episode to episode - and even scene to scene!

specifically, i feel really disappointed and hurt that they went that direction with shandy's arc. i understand that we're only half way through the season, and obviously anything could happen between now and then but... really? like, is there some kind of budgeting issue here? we can't afford for there to be more than three (complex, not sexy lamps) women in any given episode? is that why the second jack appears, barbara loses any depth (what happened to that lovely moment of connection with the snow globes????????), and THEN the second SHANDY goes off her head it's. jack time? apparently???? like. this would feel a lot better as a viewer if at this point the show hadn't PRIMED me for jack doing something insanely stupid + cruel for no reason except 'haha Keeley Bad At Her Job'.

like. the first thing we see of shandy fine is her pride in keeley, and genuine appreciation of her hard work and skill. she's CLEARLY not stupid, otherwise why would the rest of her introductory scene be her helping keeley out with filmmaking advice (the extras thing) AND random, life experience shit (knowing how to deal with goat shit)?? she knows her way around a set, and she doesn't make any of the footballers feel judged, even when she's clearly thrown by the clips they're providing her.

so why in the space of like, barely a few weeks, does ALL of that get thrown out the window? 'condoms for balls'??? why are we supposed to just take for granted that she's stupid + overly ambitious (other than the Fucking Obvious!) when the show put NO effort into actually setting that up???? like, if her first scene was her monstrously fucking UP the shoot for keeley, and keeley hired her on pure sympathy then like. sure. whatever. no room for bleeding hearts in business. but that ALSO sucks as a story line for ted lasso, a show that (according to its OWN press releases!) is supposed to be about kindness and human connection and breaking cycles!

it just. it hurts? in a way where its like, i don't believe even a little bit that this was what the writers were aiming for with those scenes, and it frightens me that there could be such a wide gulf between intent and result. especially when bonding about The Shandy Incident is what got keeley and jack together (which i am trying... So hard to feel positive about, because explicitly confirming keeley's bisexuality is amazing, least of all bc it makes her jokes with rebecca feel a lot less mean-spirited on the writers' parts, retroactively)... like how am i supposed to be enjoying their moments together when i feel like the show's whole premise has been betrayed???

and really? the one moment nate gets to feel good in this WHOLE season, it's bc the server at the restaurant who previously could not care if he dropped dead right in front of him showed him some affection + validation?????

like, sure, i GUESS im happy that this random excuse for an arc has lead to a slightly more sympathetic female character existing at least in the PERIPHERY of the show's main storyline, except no im fucking not? i don't care about this fucking restaurant, and even though ive been DESPERATELY trying not to hate jade (even though the writers themselves can't seem to decide if she's Literally Racist or just a depressed service worker) NATE shouldn't care about jade! the ONLY way i can see this being an actually interesting arc for nathan is if its another exploration of his inability to leave behind the things + people that have hurt him, combined with years of conditioning where he's never allowed to express being annoyed/upset at anyone (which richmond!!! contributed to!!!!!! 'if you're mad, count to ten. if that doesn't work, count again'??? cool speedrun tips for resentment ted!). like, an arc where we see that distance away from richmond hasn't helped nate as much as it's removed some of the worst triggers, so a taste of athens ends up in the same awful pit of resentment + loathing as ted did. which nate clearly hates! he doesn't LIKE being that person! he apologised to a PAINTED DOLL of ted!!!! but when he doesn't have the framework or tools or SUPPORT to do anything else...

like. where is his team? obviously im not expecting the show to start being about a bunch of football players that AREN'T from richmond but? even just a small moment of appreciation? or hell! maybe they hate him! if we could see LITERALLY ANYTHING abt the sport which nathan has dedicated his life to, and how his Actual Coaching style is positively or negatively impacted by the lessons he learned at richmond? this is a show ABOUT football!!!!!

i just. a taste of athens? again? a-fucking-gain?????

and honestly, the worst part is that i REALLY liked the little monologue that nate got to give about how important the restaurant was to him! as much as it showed that nate is still just as passionate + earnestly defensive of the things he loves, it ALSO shows that he 1. spends that energy explaining his passion to people who don't deserve it/won't care, and 2. gets attached to things that really fucking hurt him! and like. i am on my hands and KNEES for that to be the 'point' of this arc but at this point i feel like that's me being naive! but if fucking JADE from fucking ATHENS is the civilising white gf who FINALLY talks nate down from him ~ ignorant, vengeful crusade ~ against the absolute ~ matyrs ~ of goodness at afc richmond, i just. like. what are we even DOING here gang?

i don't know. it hurts that sam's gone from being an almost principal character in s2 to only getting passing lines in s3. it hurts that rebecca's off in her own world, talking to strangers, having life-changing revelations on her own, surrounded by sets we're never going to see again, where every scene she DOES get to spend w one of the richmond members feels hasty and rushed, like the episode wants to get a few characters obligatory appearances out of the way asap. it hurts that all the chekov's guns around zava's arc (jamie's resentment, ted's lack of guidance, dani being 'demoted' + colin being benched) were apparently all just blanks, to be hastily plastered over with one big long speech about... ted wanting everyone to have higher self esteem, or something?

and listen, more the fool me if another episode comes out next week that i completely adore, and i spend like five days singing its praises. im mostly writing this so i can go INTO the next ep without feeling resentful + upset! i'll be STOKED if i was wrong and all of those little details ARE actually important, and these arcs have more to them than this! but for now im just sad and annoyed :(

It's been a journey getting so many replies asking for more of Y/N and Daryl and I'm pleased to say this isn't going to be the end of their story! I plan on finishing up s8-s10 (I'm not doing s11 because I haven't seen it yet) and then ending this oneshot/story.

Don't expect anymore parts anytime soon as I have more stories I want to write and don't want to focus all my attention on just one story.

That night, Maggie and Sasha both decided to share a room with a couple of Hilltop’s residents so Y/N and Daryl could have the trailer to themselves. Daryl and her both had tried to decline, both coming up with different excuses, but the two girls didn’t relent. 

Y/N knew Maggie was giving them privacy so Y/N could tell Daryl about her being pregnant, but Y/N couldn’t make herself say the words.

She was laid across Daryl’s bare chest, running a finger along one of his scars. 

Daryl had told Y/N about his past, what happened to his mom and what his dad did to them all. He never let people see the ugly markings left, never let anyone touch him, but Y/N was different. 

When they first started sleeping in the same bed, Daryl couldn’t help but be tense. He slept in his day clothes and wouldn’t touch Y/N, or let her touch him. Even if before sleeping together they would sneak kisses when no one was looking. 

But soon enough, Y/N had caught him undressed and saw every part of him, even the broken parts.

She didn’t look at him any differently though. She didn’t even say anything as she got up and held him close, her stomach flat against his back as she softly caressed his scars. He stood there, dumbfounded and tense as tears flooded his vision. 

That was the first time he had ever felt love before, the first time he had been hugged like that and told that he was perfect the way he was. Daryl wasn’t so sure if he believed it himself, but Y/N seemed pretty damn adamant that it was the truth, going as far as making him feel worthy of being cared for.

Now, as Y/N touches his scars once more, occasionally kissing one, he touched the few on her back and arms. She had gotten them throughout her time in this ugly world, most were from her time alone -and Daryl knew how dark those stories were- and the rest was from protecting their family.

His heart pounded as he thought of all the times he wasn’t there to protect her, when she didn’t know to protect herself. 

Y/N hummed before getting up.

 Their plates of food were discarded along with their clothes, Y/N’s necklace somewhere on the floor, hidden away from view. Neither of them could care less about the mess they had made in the little time they had been together again, they were just glad for the sense of security they felt in one another's arms.

“I was gonna come for you,” Y/N finally whispered. “I wasn’t going to leave you there… I’m-” But the words didn’t want to leave her mouth. I’m pregnant and I feel utterly useless against the saviors.

Daryl’s hand moved to Y/N’s bicep, his calloused fingers drawing aimlessly like Y/N had done to him so many times before.

“Ya don’t gotta explain yourself. I get it.” he murmured. 

She sighed before kissing Daryl’s hand and tossing her clothes on. Their food was cold by now, yet neither of them complained as they both sat down and ate more than what they probably should’ve.

The next day, Daryl was watching Y/N. He had noticed her sluggish movements and how she snapped at everyone around her so easily. It was so different from the calm Y/N he knew.

When the saviors came unexpectedly, Y/N and him were separated, neither knowing where the other was. Y/N was hidden under a trailer, just barely out of sight while Daryl hid with Maggie in Hilltop’s food cellar. After about an hour or so, the saviors left and not long after Y/N and Daryl were headed back to their trailer and asleep for the rest of the night. 

Daryl watched as she got undressed and burrowed herself under the mounds of blankets on their small bed. His knife tapped the table, leaving small markings on the wood as he tried to figure out what was bothering her that was so bad she was hiding it from him.

It was so unlike her, the usual girl who spent hours ranting about her issues if only to come up with a solution by herself was now more quiet than she had ever been. Daryl would listen every time she would rant to him, not speaking unless she asked him what his input was, but that rarely ever happened. 

Y/N hated herself for that, always feeling like she was wasting his time, but Daryl would let her waste years of his life if it meant he could see her happy.

He smiled. She didn’t know it, but she was his better half, the half that could solve anything if she wanted to.

Y/N listened as he moved around the trailer and got ready for the night, her body shaking under the covers as she tried to get warm. When Daryl’s arms wrapped around her she wasted no time burrowing her head into his chest, the blankets going over her head as Daryl chuckled.

Y/N listened to his voice as he told stories, some about him and his older brother, and the trouble they always got into, and some about what he wanted to try to build at some point. Daryl whispered something about building them a log cabin in the middle of the woods when they were done fighting the Saviors, promising to find Y/N some sort of mutt they could have as a companion.

“We’ll name ‘em dog.” Daryl joked, smiling when he heard Y/N’s laugh.

It wasn’t long until they had fallen asleep, only to get up hours later. Neither of them were ready for the busy day to come; Jesus had told the both of you all about another community under Negan’s rule. To Daryl, that was all that was happening, but today was the day Y/N would tell him. 

There was never going to be a good time to tell Daryl and Jesus mentioned there would be a doctor at this new place that could check on Y/N’s health.

With that said, Y/N slipped her boots on and followed Daryl out the trailer. She could see Rick as well as a few others from Alexandria walking through Hilltop. smiled as Rick and Daryl hugged each other tightly, tears glimmering in both their eyes. 

Y/N made her rounds, hugging all of her friends, but she and Michonne hugged the longest, each saying words that they couldn’t convey properly. 

Y/N felt awful for leaving right after a terrible argument, going as far as to wish to never see the couple ever again. She wanted more than anything to make it up to them, but didn’t know how.

She backed away from her friend and offered a small smile, wiping away the tears threatening to fall when Daryl placed a hand on her shoulder, leading her over to sit in the back seat of a car.

The drive to the new community was long and Y/N spent most of that time drawing random shapes on Daryl’s hands while speaking softly to Carl who was sitting behind them.

When they pulled up in a parking lot and led to the Kingdom’s gates, Y/N felt a sickening feeling in the pit of her stomach. Daryl felt it too and kept close to Y/N who was looking paler by the second.

Neither of them said anything, but when they met Ezekial, they thought he was an insane man. Still, Y/N respected his way of leading, especially when she learned he was able to keep Negan’s men outside of his walls. Perhaps it wasn’t much, but to Y/N, it was everything.

Daryl, on the other hand, wanted to leave immediately. He didn’t trust these people to be as strong as Jesus was making them out to be. Sure, they had survived this long, but that didn’t mean anything. They had walls to hide behind, that was nothing compared to being out on the road for weeks at a time.

It wasn’t long after their meeting with the king that they group decided to head back home, hoping to get back before the saviors decided to check Alexandria for Daryl. Y/N stood on the porch of the building her group had just come out of and watched in silence as Rick told Daryl to stay behind, the rest of the group walking out through the front gates. 

Morgan, who she didn’t expect to see here of all places, was standing next to her, arms resting on his stick.

Daryl marched back in the gates when Rick began to catch up with the group. Y/N’s brows raised when she saw his enraged expression. She bit her lip before following him to a building the community used as apartments.

She found Daryl pacing an empty room, hands fisted. He was beyond angry, and upset. They had all left him. Sure, there was a reason behind it, but Y/N and Daryl were great assets to the group, and both of them could stay out of sight when Negan came to take things from Alexandria. They sure as hell were no use trying to convince a pretend king to join a war.

Y/N thought otherwise. In fact, while she watched Daryl from the doorway she was leaning against, she was making a plan on how to make Ezekial help them. She knew why Rick was making Daryl and her stay as far away from Negan as possible, knew if Daryl had even a slim chance -even if it meant he died as well- he would kill Negan and ruin everything. Y/N had never seen him so hidden in rage, but no one could stop him if he lost control over his emotions. Whether he could see it or not, this was for the best. At least for now. 

Daryl stopped pacing. His shoulders were shaking as he faced the room’s window that looked down at the Kingdom. He had thought the same things as Y/N and it only hurt him more. He was no longer trusted, it felt like. 

Daryl sniffed, looking down at his hands. He couldn’t see anything but the blood of Glenn. It was his fault what happened, his fault Y/N wasn’t safe in Alexandria instead of hiding from Negan. If he had just stayed kneeling… 

His mind was clouded and he didn’t feel when Y/N wrapped her arms around him.

His hands moved to wipe at the tears that fell onto his cheeks. He couldn’t understand what was going on, but there was an anger in him so dangerous he feared he would punch one of the walls near him. But Y/N’s arms stopped that from happening and so he dropped his fisted hands and let her soothe him.

Night had fallen hours later. Y/N and Daryl were now sitting on the floor, looking at the outside world behind the window. Daryl’s head was resting on Y/N’s shoulder, her head on top of his. Their hands were interlocked, Daryl’s thumb rubbing circles on Y/N’s rough skin.

It was so peaceful here. It felt like alexandria before things went to shit. 

Daryl smiled softly at the thought, wondering what it would’ve been like for those people if his family had never showed up. Y/N had spent a lot of her time with Deanna, convincing her to let Y/N lead.

Y/N was smart like that. She knew if it ever came down to it, her smarts were better than her muscles. However, Deanna played the same game as Y/N and didn’t make it easy for her. Half the time Y/N would end up overly upset that Deanna hadn’t just accecpted Y/N’s offer and the other half liked the challenge.

“I’m pregnant.” Y/N whispered out of the blue, silencing Daryl’s thoughts.

Daryl froze, unsure if he had heard what she said or if his mind was playing tricks on him. He removed his body from Y/N’s and stared at her. His usual indifferent demeanor was gone and replaced with shock; eyes wide, mouth open. Y/N would laugh if it weren’t for the circumstances.

“I’m sorry, I should’ve told you sooner, I know that but-”

“How far along are ya?” He interrupted her. Daryl’s mind had quit working as soon as Y/N said those two words. How would they feed the baby? How would he keep Y/N and their child safe? What if he didn’t make it?

Y/N looked down, shrugging her shoulders. “I don’t know… I haven’t checked or anything, or… I- I don’t know.” 

Daryl stared at her for the longest time too wrapped up in his own thoughts. He would need to make sure she was eating a lot and sleeping well now that he knew. And with the threat of Negan and walkers-

Y/N snorting bought him out of his thoughts. Daryl looked like he had seen Santa Claus for the first time.

“What the hell do we do?” He whispered. Y/N covered her face, cheeks red, when she realized just how much he cared. Why had she thought this was going to go bad in the first place?

Daryl frowned. “What?”

She shook her head, looking away from him. It was quiet for a long time before Y/N spoke. “I love you.”

She had known for a long time, had tried to tell herself not to get attached because Daryl wasn’t that kind of guy… But then she got pregnant, Daryl got taken by Negan…

“God, I love you and I’m sorry for not telling you sooner, but you’re perfect, Daryl Dixon-”

She was cut off by Daryl’s lips on hers. She gasped as she was forced to lean back, one hand moving to catch them before they both fell to the floor. 

“I love you,” Daryl whispered. “I love you I love you I love you-” with each time he said it the kiss seemed to deepen and Y/N couldn’t stop herself from getting overly emotional. 

She was crazy for thinking he wouldn’t like the idea of children, crazy for thinking he would up and leave as soon as the words were out. Sure, they both wondered if they would be good parents, and they spent most of the night speaking about it before falling asleep in one another’s arms. 

The next day Daryl was up early. 

He sat on the edge of their cot holding Y/N’s hand as she slept soundly behind him, snoring. She was still so small, and even though she wasn’t that far along, Daryl was about ready to go out and hunt a month’s worth of food just for her. 

He was itching to leave and do just that but knew Y/N was planning on going to Kingdom’s doctor for a check up and Daryl would be with her every step of the way no matter who tried to stop him.

It was late afternoon when she woke up, alone in a room while the sun shined in through the window. Daryl’s things were gone and a plate of food was sat on a wooden chair for her. 

She ate it all, even if there were enough portions for three, before going outside.

Y/N was walking around the Kingdom when she found Daryl walking the wall’s perimeter. She paused and watched as his eyes scanned everything around him, shoulders tense. She made a quick guess and assumed he was making sure the walls would hold while Y/N and him were staying there.

When Daryl spotted her, he smiled softly. In a few long strides he was in front of her, greeting her with a soft, quick kiss.

“What happened to staying by my side no matter what, huh?” Y/N joked.

He scoffed, pushing her shoulder gently as he led her toward the infirmary. “Yer snores pushed me out the room.”

Y/N scowled. “That’s a bit harsh.”

Daryl shrugged before walking into the infirmary. They were met with a lot of stares and Y/N could see just how tense Daryl was right now.

It wasn’t long before the Kingdom’s doctor was taking them to a private room where an ultrasound and a bed sat. 

“Would you mind leaving the room?” The doctor asked Dary, brows raised. Y/N wasn’t sure if he was rude or if she was feeling extra hormornal today.

Daryl ignored him.

Y/N smiled softly when the doctor directed his attention to her. “He was never socialized properly.” Y/N said.

Daryl stepped closer as the doctor got his equipment ready, his hand intertwined with Y/N’s. No words were spoken between the two as the screen showed their child, the tiny dot just barely noticeable. Y/N wiped at her eyes, but she was unable to keep her tears at bay. 

The two of them had no idea if they would be good parents or not, but both of them would go to the ends of the earth to keep their baby safe.

Month’s later, when Negan was defeated and locked away, Y/N gave birth to their baby. Turns out, Mini Dixon was a girl and all the boy names they had planned out after months of being told they would have a boy were useless. After a few weeks Daryl and Y/N decided on Harlow Dixon. 

When Rick died, Harlow was outside the walls more, accompanying her parents as they searched for Rick’s body. She was still a baby, though, and while Y/N wished they didn’t have to, sometimes the Dixon family would end up at Hilltop for a few days at a time -or weeks depending on the weather.

Daryl was good at staying with them, occasionally leaving to hunt, and soon enough he had found an abandoned cabin they could stay in permanently. Not long after, while Y/N and Harlow were planting some seeds for a garden, a dog showed up.

Dog became a beloved member of Y/N and Daryl’s family and even if Daryl didn’t say it, he loved the damn animal more than Harlow did. 

Now, after years of looking and giving up on finding Rick, Y/N was coming back from a trip to Hilltop, a bright smile on her face as she opened the cabin’s door and found Daryl and Harlow in the middle of playing dress up. 

Daryl held a small tea cup, his normal gruff features replaced with a bright smile as Harlow directed him on how to be prim and proper. Those were two words Y/N thought she would never describe Daryl as.

She smiled softly.

Even if they didn’t know at that moment that in a couple days Carol and Henry would find Daryl coming back from a hunting trip and escort Daryl back to the cabin. From there they would all venture to Hilltop and learn about a new threat. 

Harlow was still too little and Y/N spent most of her time keeping an eye on her child, but at one point she had turned around and Harlow was gone. Enid was gone as well, having been with Y/N only an hour before, and so many others. Most would end up with their heads on a pike… and the other would get out because Y/N and Daryl would burn the world for her.

And they did.

Here’s some object show criticism if you please:

I don’t give two shits if HFJONE was supposed to be a commentary on object shows and the object show structure a la never finishing, failing to develop characters, whatever. I didn’t come to ONE for the commentary, even if it was a super interesting facet of the show; I came for the mystery, and the mystery ended up disappointing me HARD.

When you set up plot points and emotional beats with absolutely zero payoff, you inevitably create a sense of disappointment and a near betrayal of the audience’s trust in you. Hfjone could have been a magnum opus of the OSC, and by god it still might be, but it fell into the same trap of mediocrity every other object show does when they lose sight of the storytelling.

There’s not even really any real tragedy (even though that’s what the show sacrificed its narrative cohesion for), because applying logic for a second mitigates any questions we might have of where the characters will go next. When there’s only one or two answers available to any questions asked by the open-ended ending (will they get out? Probably, if they wait long enough! Is Liam gonna turn into Airy? Sure would be a poor writing decision if he did, cuz “facing similar traumas automatically turns you into your abuser!” Is bit of a bad take imo!) it’s not really so open-ended, is it? I physically couldn’t be too sad about how the characters ended up, because giving it a even little thought already routed out how the rest of their arcs and lives might go.

I don’t know. There’s so much that HFJONE could have done and been that it just genuinely ended up not becoming, and I was really saddened by it, because I know it’s not for lack of trying. It was purposeful storytelling that it ended up how it did, and I feel like it was the wrong decision.

Also, the complete under-utilization of Amelia as a character was probably The largest detractor of the show. Dangle her presence and significance to the story in front of us then grant her like, a minute and a half of screen time. For someone so critical to the themes of the show she really ended up hardly existing, which inadvertently says something about the themes of the show (that being that they hardly exist :shrug:)

I've Been Rewatching One With Friends Lately and I've Run Into a Lot of Similar Qualms You Mentioned. I Will Admit to Being a Lot Softer on One, Both for Emotional Attachments Because I Am a Sap, and Just Out of Respect for Doing a Lot of Osc Firsts, But Yeah I Do Think It Held a Lot of Punches, Esp in Regards to Amelia.

I Don't Think Cheesy Was Misogynistic on Purpose But Her Writing, and a Lot of S2's Writing in General is Unintentionally Pretty Misogynistic. I Think There Were Ways to Keep Amelia's Role as the One Who Knows Nothing and Gets Beaten Down While Still Giving Her Anything to Do, a Friend Pitched the Idea of After Credit Scenes Done in the Black and White Style With No Dialogue Just Kind of Showing Her Subcumbing to the Monotony of the Plane and I Love That Idea.

However I Will Say I Do Still Love the Ending and the Themes are Enough for Me Personally. I'm a Huge Sucker for Very Theme Centric Work and One Scratched That Itch for Me, Though I Can Definitely See How a More Mystery Focused Viewer Would Be Disappointed. You're Right the Ending Isn't as Open Ended as People Like to Pretend But IMO It Doesn't Need to Be. I'm Just Happpy That the Final Time We'll Ever See the Characters is At Their Absolute Lowest, I Think That That's a Very Interesting Final Note and At the Very Least I Respect the Hell Outta Cheesy for Sticking to That in a Community Who's Barely Interacted With Bittersweetness at All.

True, but to Jaune, and the rest of his team it feels like they are forgetting about him, and that they are replacing him for her.

Sure they didn’t let them explain why they said those things. But, the few words they spoke did all the damage it needed to do.

Hello, I'd like to make a request

Ei, Miko, and Lisa (separately) x reader who is going through a domestication arc. Like, they're gonna get their romantic arc soon but first reader needs to stop chewing the furniture, if that makes sense

I will have whoever asked for this request, know, that I suffered so much just writing this. No offense, but this is some furry shit I swear.

Anyway, I did the best I could to write for this god-awful request! I will also have you know that I cried just trying to understand this shit.

Lisa

Lisa, the well-known librarian, has just returned to her home after working for such long hours. Though, in reality, she had barely even done anything productive that day. She stood there for a solid minute, finding it strange that her S/O was not there to greet her as they usually would.

“How peculiar… hm. Have they gone to bed already? It is quite late…” Lisa muttered as she spoke to herself.

Lisa just shrugged it off, concluding that her S/O had just gone to bed without her. That was until her conclusion had been proven wrong once she entered the living room. The librarian’s eyes widened in shock; the scene had taken her off-guard.

The square-shaped pillows that were once in perfect shape, resting on the sofa, were now torn apart with the foam all over the floor. Her S/O was there chewing on the leg of the coffee table. Unaware of Lisa’s presence, which, is also odd with their great sense of smell… perhaps they were too focused on chewing the leg of the table.

“S/O.” Lisa called out to them in a serious tone.

S/O’s ears perked up, they quickly stopped chewing the furniture and ran to where Lisa was standing. Though, they had almost slipped and tripped… fortunately, they got back on their feet and avoided such an embarrassing situation to happen.

“Mmm? Oh, welcome home! Is there anything you need me to do?” S/O asked, their tail wagging as they looked at their lover.

Lisa smiled at her S/O, which… somehow scared S/O. Their wolf ears flattened against their head, and their tail tucked in between their legs.

S/O hummed, “Okay, I will stop chewing on and destroying your furniture. However, I’m quite bored lately… there’s barely anything to do here you know.”

Lisa looked at her S/O in a slight shock with how fast and quick they were to stop. S/O noticed the shock in Lisa’s eyes. It seems like even the smartest scholar from the Akademiya was unaware of this behavior.

“I’ll stop chewing on and destroying your furniture from now on, simply because I don’t feel like it anymore. There isn’t any fun to it now that I think about it. Uhm… it also seems like you are unaware of this, but… for some wolves… we listen to the humans’ commands or words when we feel like it… and the opposite when we don’t... Ahem, I am not sure how true this is, but this is just the way I am.” S/O explained to the emerald eyed brunette.

Lisa nodded at her words, “I see… well, that certainly saves me the struggle of taming you, cutie. To cure your boredom however, perhaps you could help me in the library?” Lisa suggested to her S/O, as she folded her arms together while her left hand cupped her chin.

“You could go and collect the books that haven’t been returned on time… or if you don’t like that idea, you can play with Klee. I’m sure she’d love to play with you!” Lisa elaborated even further, as her left hand stretched out to the left.

S/O’s ears were sticking straight up and out to the side, their teeth bared at the idea,

“Apologies, but I do not… want to be around humans. You know me, Lisa… I don’t like being around humans, so I refuse.” S/O’s stared at her lover.

“Oh, but you’re talking to one right now and dating one if I may add.” Lisa cooed, chuckling softly as she spoke. Her voice was as smooth as silk… uhm, anyway.

S/O sighed, “That’s because it’s you… and please do not think about the idea of taming me, you know… making me more relaxed around humans? Yeah, don’t think about it. Not a good idea.”

Lisa frowned,

“Well, if I can’t bring you to the library, how about I purchase you some chewing toys, or just any common and regular dog toys? That might be able to cure-“

“No. I am not a dog, Minci.” S/O growled, brows furrowing in disagreement.

“Alright, alright… maybe you could just stay by me? I’ll tell you the truth, I don’t really do much in the library. So, having my cutie there would surely brighten up the place for me. You wouldn’t have to do anything such as interact with humans.”

Lisa’s brows rose as she waited for her S/O’s answer.

S/O’s ears and tail returned to a calmer state, “That… is better. I will agree to that offer of yours. You should go to sleep, it’s getting late. I will join you in bed after a while.”

“What about-“

“Leave that to me, I shall clean up after myself. You mustn’t clean up after me, I know you are rather tired, so you go and rest now.” S/O reassured her with a soft smile.

The librarian sighed, “Don’t stay up too late now, cutie. I expect to see you in bed after some time.”

Lisa chuckled and she spoke in a loving manner, accompanied by a soft voice. The librarian kissed her S/O’s temple before heading to their shared room. S/O could vaguely hear a yawn escape from Lisa’s lips as she walked further and further away from the living room.

S/O felt their face heat up, it seems like they were still not used to the kissing. Right, back to the task at hand, cleaning up their own mess…

Miko

Yae had been knocking on this home’s door for the past, what, 5 minutes? Who knows how long it’s been. She folds her arms in annoyance, knocking on the door for the last time… If this person didn’t respond, she’ll be sure to take her revenge on them-

The door was unlocked and standing in front of the kitsune was a muscular, bearded man. He raised his brow at Yae,

“Guuji Yae, what brings you here?” He asked, in a confused tone.

“Finally, you’ve answered! I’ve been here for a while you know?” Yae deadpanned at the man.

The man chuckled nervously and awkwardly, “I must apologize for that… It’s just that I’ve been busy preparing something for S/O’s birthday.”

‘Oh, that is right… their birthday is arriving in a few weeks. Anyway, that’s for another day to worry about.’

“I’ve come to ask for your word of advice, simply because you took care of them and raised them. Surely, their caretaker would know the reason behind this odd behavior?” Yae rose a brow at the man, as she spoke in her usual tone of voice.

The man stared at her, clearly waiting for her to continue.

“Do you perhaps know why S/O chews on furniture?”

“During their puppy years, before we moved to the city… The people at our village would usually store meat in the furniture as a way of… preserving it, which I found weird. Anyway, S/O was chewing on one of the furniture and had accidentally revealed the secret stash of meat in there. Ever since then… they must still be thinking that there’d be a secret stash of meat in the furniture.” He sighed.

“If you’re planning to train them… I’m not sure how I’d be of any help. So, I’ll leave that up to you. Oh, by the way, has S/O made any progress with how they are handling the presence of humans?” The man asked, slightly worried.

“They are doing just fine… However, there had been barely any progress at all. You needn’t worry though, I can manage. Anyway, thank you for the information. This does quite help a lot.” The Guuji chuckled.

The man placed his hands on his hips,

“I’ll have you know, Lady Yae, that no matter how well you tame them, they’ll always have their wolf instincts. You should learn about wolf behavior… if you’re not well-versed in it yet. There’s a major difference between taming and training when it comes to these creatures. Goodluck with S/O, tell them I said hi!”

“Of course, I know of such things, I’ll be sure to keep them under control. I’ll be taking my leave now.”

Yae Miko announced her leave. Heading back towards the shrine.

And on the way back… she was grinning to herself the entire time. How silly her S/O must be to think there’d still be a stash of food inside the furniture they chew. It seems like before Miko could ever have that pure romantic life with her S/O, she’d have to train S/O to stop chewing on the furniture.

It had been weeks since Miko has started training S/O personally. Fortunate for her, their S/O is now fully trained to not chew on the furniture… She’s also made some progress in making sure S/O isn’t too scared of being around of so many humans. There have been occasions whereas they’d try and lunge at the visitors, which was in vain as Yae Miko was always there to stop them from doing so.

And now, they were peacefully lying-in bed.

“Well, aren’t you quite happy today. Your tail is wagging even under the covers. Say, do tell me why you are such a happy little one tonight?” Yae asked.

“…It’s quite obviously because you’re scratching the back of my ears.”

S/O yawned, snuggling even closer to Yae. Soon enough, their breathing slowed down. It seems like they weren’t able to put much of a fight against sleepiness.

Yae went to sleep with them shortly after that.

Fandoms don't like female characters. Y'all really don't.

Let me tell you a little story before we jump in. I've made a comment, about a female character, that I don't give a fuck about, and said, if she was male, she would be aggressively shipped with this one male character. I've said it because she looked so hot as a guy (fanart) that I belive the ship would be popular. Mind you, I didn't watch the show. I just know she doesn't like the guy and always banter with him and that's a dynamic shippers eat it up only when it's M/M.

Someone came and said the popular M/M of that show would still be popular if one of the character is female therefore, I'm wrong.

Mind you, I didn't watch the show so I did a quick search on WHEN does the character dies (lmao) and that's all I needed to know to fucking say NO, IT WON'T. It won't be popular if it was a girl.

The ironic part? I'm aware that, statistically, M/M dominate in ships and in so many other areas. But that's not why I said it won't be popular. Rather because female character are NOT relevant in fandoms. They are not! There is no way, a female character, will play a big importance in ONE arc and dies in that same arc.... that would make a fandom sob, cry, hyperventilate the way it did to this fandom! It never WILL! The man dies too quickly. If it was a female, she will not be relevant. Female characters will never make any big impact the way male character do even if they are written the EXACT SAME WAY.

Hell, they can't even making it to the top 10 rankings of favorite character in their OWN series. You usually see 1 female then the rest of the 9 be male. And it's usually a character who is the main female with the rest of the cast. A side male character will always beat the side female character in these shows.

One of the things I've noticed with the way people treat female character is, if she have a crush/love interest and y'all would act like it's the biggest ICK about her character and she suddenly loses all support while simultaneously, thirsting, salivating, over the same character she likes and behave like animals.

I learned, by being in fandoms, that a female character should never show interests in males. That's the only way she can remain in y'all "good favor" otherwise, it's not going to work. Males can do bare minimum and we gonna dkride them so hard.

How many female characters, if they were male, would be MORE liked than they are now? How many male characters, if they were female, would be LESS liked than they are now?

Liking a female character is a fucking BATTLEFIELD while liking male character is the smoothest ride ever (except for Sanji but he doesn't count for obvious reasons).

Having a male character favorite is just easy if dumbasses aren't power scaling. I might find someone who hates my favorites once in a blue moon and all I can think about is, "THANK GOD someone hate him. I thought he doesn't have haters." I can move on from it because he gets an overwhelming love that it doesn't matter if someone dislike him.

The female characters, on the other hand, you need to get the gun ready to start shooting because you will defending her for days. The hate would show up on your FYP out of nowhere, there is a long discussion about why she suck, they are debates, there are people who don't think she is that great, people who undermine her importance to the plot, people talking about, "I don't care about her. Her story arc is not bad, she is just not it. (aka not a male) I just don't feel her, blah blah. I won't be saying this if she was male, blah, blah, blah."

So in conclusion, y'all hate females.

Or to be accurate, they are not relevant for y'all. Fandoms don't care about them.

Let's just acknowledge that and move on with our lives because I don't want to hear shit from someone who likes over 100 male characters but will struggle to pick 10 females they really like. If the number of females don't even make 20% of the amount of males you have liked, don't fake outrage under my post talking about how it's not true. I don't care if y'all don't like them. Just don't lie.

I know you gonna say, there is more male characters than female which is true but if we consider the overall medium, you have OPTIONS. I'm literally saying to not limit it. If you can't name 50 female characters across an ENTIRE medium but can for males? Don't bother arguing with me.

Anyway, it's a real shame to see that female characters aren't written that much in archiveofourown. There are so many female characters that could have made it to the rankings of the 2023... but like I said, female characters aren't relevant so I shouldn't be surprised they struggling to make the list for that too.

Witcher Season 3 (AKA The "Final" Season 🤣😂)

Alright y'all, back at it again with my 3rd Witcher tv show "review" or whatever. S1 | S2

Disclosure: I already told y'all that I've made peace with this being the Yennefer Show, and that I'll keep watching when Liam Hensworth plays Geralt in S4, because this show ain't been about Geralt or witchers anyway--it's about the mages, obviously. Like, I don't blame Cavill for leaving, cuz if I had to play second fiddle to Yenn when I'M the titular MC, but I don't have ANY scenes, ZERO speaking lines, and NOTHING to do in my own show, then yeah I'd quit too! So I'm not gonna complain about what I WISH this show was--it will NEVER be the books or the games (definitely not Game of Thrones). Missed opportunity.

All that being said, unpopular opinion, but IMO Season 3 kinda slapped? The 2nd "volume"/part was the best BY FAR, but I genuinely liked the vast majority of the episodes. I give S3 a 9.5/10, because I actually have very few complaints about this season overall, I'm shocked. (EDIT: I have DEEProoted suspicions about a lot of naysayers/hatewatchers who say the show's "unwatchable," just because it's got a multicultural cast/"agenda"--sounds like racism to me.)

THE GOOD

The MAIN PLOT actually went somewhere!!!! A wild Vilgefortz appears! ^0^ He beat the DOG SNOT outta Geralt, YIKES! XD

One of my biggest gripes about S1 was that the show didn't focus nearly enough on THE BIG BAD, Vilgefortz. Cahir got SO MUCH screentime doing literally NOTHING for 2 whole seasons, meanwhile the rest of Geralt's Hanse was NOWHERE to be seen, and Vilgefortz was just sitting in the cut looking pretty, like wtf?

And Season 2 was barely any better!

But yeah, S3 FINALLY gave us Vilgefortz's dastardly behavior I'd been waiting for. He effed everybody up at Thanned, as I expected--that's my special evil boy! <3 (Now that Ciri jacked half his face up I'm very sad--that man is absolutely splendid to look at. A moment of silence for the eye candy, it will be missed. U_U)

THANNED. ^0^ Hoooooooly god this was great, even better than Sodden in S1. Episode 6 is the best episode in S3--such a great battle; people were dying left and right. And MAMA TISS!!!!! She went OFF! O_O

It was so sad, but ofc this was all gonna happen--they had Tissaia allllll the way up Vilgefortz's butt, so OF COURSE she was going to be crushed when he INEVITABLY betrayed her. (I don't blame you though, girl, cuz he's SO DANG PRETTY! I'd be crushed, too!) But at least Mama Tissaia got that body count up during the battle--SLAY! The way Filavandrel was just.... 🤯

Speaking of the elves, Francesca and Fringilla were put on the backburner (after dang near dominating S2); but I like the way their arcs ended, even though I felt bad for them. Very good scenes; the mages & their arcs are the very best parts of the show, as usual.

LODGE OF SORCERESSES RISE! ^0^ Dijikstra & Philippa. 😍

These freaks--I LOVE them, your honor! 😅 I was so hyped to see Geralt break Djikstra's leg, but Philippa had me ROLLING when she was like "well, it's a good thing you like pain"--I DIED! XD These kinky mofos! They're hands down one of the best parts of the whole show--I LOVE how sinister Philippa is (her bird feathers are such a great touch--whoever was in charge of her costumes & HAIR 👌), and what a simp Dijkstra is for her. It makes me so sad to know how things go for them in the video game--I sided with Dijikstra to kill Radovid, and was so hurt when he went after Thaler & Roche. But....yeah, I did pick the option to break his other leg, so....oops? XD

So yes, I'm excited to see where this show goes with Philippa and Vilgefortz; how their schemes line up (or not) with Emhyr and the Fake Ciri; and how that effects the REAL Ciri and how she eventually ends up under Avallach (I hope we get to see him on the show!).

Speaking of Ciri, we FIIIIINALLY got to see some domestic Geralt, Yenn & Ciri--even if they are on the run from assassins; and Geralt's iced Yenn out cuz she tried to sacrifice Ciri to Voleth Mier back in S2. A lot of the fandom HATED that they made S2 Yenn betray them, but I think S3 did an alright job of not retconning her, per se, but patching things up. Cuz it's NOT a good look to have your (REAL) main character (LOL) hated by the fandom for betraying her own "daughter." So was the domesticity hamfisted? YES. But was it necessary? GOD yes, otherwise what's the point of showing The Last Wish? They're supposed to be a FAMILY, so for god's sake start giving them scenes to actually SHOW us that--stfu about "destiny"!

Probably another unpopular opinion, but I liked Episode 7 with the unicorn. These are the kinds of adventures Ciri NEEDED in S1, running around some stupid empty forests doing NOTHING is different from learning how to survive on her own in a strange wilderness, encountering strange creatures, and tapping into the good AND bad sides of her magic.

And oooooh my god, the GOAT has returned.

A lot of...hrm...interesting conversations were had as Ciri was hallucinating in the desert, with love of my life Grandmama Calanthe, as well as Pavetta & Falka. It's a shame that Ciri didn't get this kind of development MUCH earlier in the series. Too little too late? We'll have to see where Ciri's plot goes with the Rats in S4 to find out if her new whole Chaos/Fire magic arc is worth it.

AT LONG EFFING LAST, we're getting some HANSE ACTION!!!

I've been SO EFFING SICK of Cahir. I'm glad Ciri finally got closure with him from SEASON ONE, and that he's FINALLY in the Hanse now--took y'all long enough, ffs! And Milva's interesting so far, so I'm glad to see her around, giving Geralt & Dandelion grief. So in S4 all we need now is Angie, and YA BOI!!! ^0^

THE BAD

I wish Mistle and the Rats were better established--the whole Wyvern thing wasn't done very well or made much sense, and Mistle & Ciri should've had WAY more scenes. I wasn't feeling any chemistry between them, which is annoying, since Ciri's a lesbian in my TW3 game--is the show gonna go with hetero Ciri instead? Or is her love of Mistle gonna be what pulls Ciri out of the Fire/Chaos dark arc they're teasing for S4? 👀

What's annoying is that we already had a Dark!Ciri arc in S2 though, and EVERYONE hated it. We see Yenn reconcile betraying Ciri, but where's Ciri reconciliation for slaughtering all those witchers at Kaer Morhen? 😡 First she's possessed by Voleth Mier, now she's possessed by Falka? This show's great at focusing on Yenn & the mages, but leaves Ciri in the same ditch over & over--it's irritating.

Ep5 was a LAME way to end the first half/"volume," I hated that episode. The whole ball just bored me, with the dancing and singing--I get it--"all is not *clap clap* as it seems," stfu already. I didn't care. It was OBVIOUS Stregebor was being framed; WTF was that mop on Istredd's head; WHY was Triss the only one with a braincell who cared that students were going missing when apparently the school's SO strict; why don't these mages start TELEPORTING for once, and stop running around SLOW AF; how the HECK did y'all let HUMAN Dijkstra jump a WHOLE SCHOOL OF MAGES--this is an utter embarrassment. Usually the mages are the only thing this show gets RIGHT, so to see them all faceplant like this was just baffling & frustrating.

And again with the monoliths--how do y'all NOT KNOW these things are here!? Same with the one hidden in Kaer Morhen, like REALLY? NO ONE's medallion is going off? Omg. Istredd! You STUDY these things! Start TEACHING these drunk AF mages a thing or two--this is why Vilgefortz and Dijikstra wiped the floor with y'all on your own turf! 🤦

THE UGLY

The pacing was SLOW AF. Episodes 3-5 particularly dragged.

Everything with Cahir I wish was in S2 instead. That elf was GORGEOUS and I hated to see him go, but what was the point of all that again? I almost expected him & Cahir to start banging! (My perv brain; I need help, y'all. U_U)

ALLLLLLL this mess about Dandelion & Radovid.

What "ripple effects"? XD It was UNNECESSARY. We all know Radovid's a disgusting genocidal racist psychopath and Dandelion's a womanizing old man--I'm not interested in seeing Radovid going through all this effort to seduce Dandelion, just to DOUBLE CROSS him to get to Ciri, like wtF? TBH, I feel like we were queerbaited, yeah I said it. 😤

And it's SO unfair how we have alllll these sex scenes with naked women's vajayjays & boobs all over the place--even Philippa got in on the action, hey hey hey! ;) --but we never get to see man-on-man action!? Wow, they kissed, SO WHAT!? Men never get full frontal nudity and it ticks me off, cuz naked women are just all over TV, meanwhile the dudes don't show SQUAT, and it's happened AGAIN.

Anyways, those are my only real complaints; otherwise I liked S3, it was much better than S2 IMO. Just don't expect too much--turn your brain off, and accept that this show doesn't gaf about Geralt (or even Ciri really) whatsoever. I'm here for Yennefer, Vilgefortz, and to see the Lodge of Sorceresses make themselves an absolute menace under Philippa so that Radovid literally flips his wig (that horrible weave MUST go in S4) and effs everything up for mages & non-humans.

Sky: his Zelda is his lover! Idk how I’m gonna do their relationship… cuz the Sky arc that I’ve been working on is outdated and doesn’t match the new story of lbl so that’s super complicated lol. But he worries over her constantly and gets nervous when they’re apart. Separation anxiety am I right?? Groose is his best friend and they mean the world to me guys. They’re both himbos but groose is at least a smart himbo so he keeps Sky safe from doing super stupid things. He’s also really good friends with everyone in skyloft! Tho he had some rough patches with some of them after the events of skord for reasons, he’s doing fine now! And Sky is kinda awkward around strangers. He’s friendly and curious around them but compared to skyloft he’s never met them before so he says and does weird stuff, but he’s also chill so it doesn’t matter all that much. And Sky doesn’t have a family. Gaepora is an honorary father figure but overall his family is dead. So rip. His enemies are dead now but they were the only people he hated.

Minish: he and his Zelda are very very close! Best friends! Minish cares a lot about her and her well-being. Minish is good friends with all the Minish and with his Malon! Now… I’m kinda stuck on the lovers thing… cuz idk if it’s right to have Minish with someone? He’s the same size as an 8 year old and I’ve been trying to at least make his face look more 17ish, but I might make him a little bit more muscular since he’s a blacksmith and is very strong, but idk if I’d even be comfortable having him be a couple with someone else. Idk. I’ll see how you guys feel about it tho. Minish struggles with strangers, they think he’s kinda strange cuz he’s built like an 8 year old but is actually 17. He’s nice enough to them and he tries to be friendly but overall he keeps to himself. The major enemy that has affected him terribly was Vaati. He was 8 when he faced Vaati and he almost died (Hylia was the reason why he lived), and then he faced Vaati again during Four Swords (he was the first four swords guy, the one that takes place after MC). So Vaati is a bad subject for him.and then the only family that’s alive is his grandfather and while he is strict and scary, Minish loves his grandpa and they’re very close.

Time: his relationship with Zelda is complicated, cuz the Zelda in the adult timeline was someone he was super close with and was also in love with, however the Zelda in the child timeline is not the same person he loved. They barely know each other, and while the Zelda is nice, Time doesn’t know how to talk to her, plus when he told her about Ganondorf, he was more focused on finding Navi, so he didn’t stick around for that long. But he does care a lot about her, after all her influence helped him in Majoras Mask. Time doesn’t really have any friends, he never had the motivation to rekindle the friendships he had after what had happened. The only reason why he’s with Talon and Malon is cuz Talon was nice enough to take care of him when he was sick and alone. Aaaand cuz of that he fell in love with Malon and was able to accept that the timeline he is in is one he’s gonna be in for the rest of his life. He loves Malon a lot and he tells her everything, Talon doesn’t believe everything he says (but he will with my dumb crack au lol). Time is pretty intimidating around strangers but really he’s just as intimidated as they are. With enemies… the major one he’s looking out for is the FD, everyone else is either dead or suffering the consequences of their actions.

Legend: his relationship with Zelda is also pretty complicated. They are very close and have a lot in common, however, Tulip really loves Legend, but he doesn’t know how he feels since he hasn’t moved on from Marin. He’s confused around Tulip to say the least. I haven’t played enough of Legend’s games to think of anything for friends lol. Every enemy he has is dead, but he’s still upset about Ganondorf and Aghahim (idk how to spell his name bruh) since they killed his uncle. And last but not least, he has no family left, his uncle was murdered right in front of him

Hyrule: I’m taking a lot of creative liberties with him lol. He and Peony are super close and Peony has a HUGE crush on him. Hyrule respects Rose, and she is a lot older than him but she’s still a good friend to him. Hyrule is good friends with that secret Moblin, and he overall is a lovable himbo so a lot of people like him. The biggest enemies are the monsters trying to sacrifice him to Ganondorf, but luckily Ganon is dead so he doesn’t worry about him (or does he???) and he does have a living family! He just doesn’t know them or remember them! And he hasn’t met them in this au so he doesn’t know that exist! This is just a personal headcanon of mine so you can ask about his fam like… later or on my main blog.

Twilight: he and Zelda have a rooough relationship. They’re both so different from each other and Nebula comes off as cold and blunt which drives Twi crazy. They only really got along when they needed to and because Midna was a mutual friend, but overall they don’t like each other all that much. I’d say twilight has some good friendships, except he’s been isolating himself from everyone, but the resistance still talk to him and he’s still best buds with Fado, and Illia is still his best friend. For lovers, he still loves Midna and hasn’t really thought about anyone else. He kinda felt pressured to get with Illia so he doesn’t end up with her since she deserves someone who loves her the same way she loves him. Twi is pretty kind to strangers, all I can say. All his enemies are dead and the biggest enemy he’s facing rn is heartbreak. And family. Ah. I love his family more than life itself. His biological family is not alive but he was adopted by Rusl and Uli and they are such doting parents who try to help him feel better about what happened and stuff. And Colin adores him still and Rela (his new baby sister) is a baby and doesn’t know what’s going on but yeah. I love his family and Twi loves his family too. He’s just struggling with life rn so he hasn’t been with them a whole lot.

Four: ok, all the colors care a lot for Lily, Green has a crush on her however the others just see her as a really good friend. They grew up together since Four’s mom died when he was 3 months old, and the king was kind enough to let him be raised with Lily while his father was working, so they’re super close. Red has a BIG crush on Erune (from the manga), Blue is too focused on his teenage angst rn and Vio just does not care about love atm so it’s really only Green and Red with crushes lol. I suppose after lbl they’ll have their own friends except for Blue (who again is going through teenage angst rn) but ye. Green is polite and kind to strangers, Red is happy and joyful around strangers, Vio is rude but respectful enough towards strangers, and Blue is just pissed off all the time so strangers are scared of him. Their main enemy is gone now so they’re just kinda dealing with the affects of the four sword rn. And lastly family, their father. My absolute beloved. Their father is a very strict and serious man but he’s very worrisome and doting over his children (and Lily too. He kinda looked after her when he father died). They look up to him and want his approval, mostly Blue is struggling with the relationship tho (I just have a lotta thoughts on Blue ok??)

Windy: he wants to get maaaaaarrieeeeeddddd to tetra cuz he loves her so much and is such a loveable ray of sun shine around her while she looks pissed off all the time and I ADORE them. Telink is TOP tier. Windy is good friends with everyone since he’s just so sweet and mature but also very goofy and fun and strangers adore him cuz he’s polite around them. The biggest enemies rn are just dumb pirates and stuff, but Ganondorf really affected him negatively, so that’s a guy he hates. And family! I’m kinda basing his relationship with Aryll on my relationship with my older brother. Aryll looks up to him and Windy just looks out for her. His relationship with grandma is good and he adores her very much. Now for my favorite character friggin LINEBECK. He BASICALLY adopted Windy and Aryll, and Windy loves him very much cuz he’s a father figure who was able to stay, since his other father figures kept dying, but Linebeck is here to stay so he loves being around him. He’s also pretty anxious about his well-being cuz you know, father figures are always dying. Actually Windy is very happy on the surface but he’s EXTREMELY anxious about everyone’s wellbeing and feels responsible for them constantly. So oof

Spirit: he and phantom have such middle school crushes on each other and they’re very close and are best friends and they mean the world to me cuz they are so frigging cute and chaotic and yeah. I don’t think Spirit has too many friends except for Phantom, Niko and Alfonzo but they’re more like mentor figures than anything and Phantom is his Zelda but yeah. He’s kind and respectable around strangers except with his mutism it’s hard for him and others to communicate with him, and some rude people don’t have the patience for him to write everything down. He doesn’t have any major enemies and he doesn’t have any family so there’s that.

Age: he and Rune are good friends, tho they had an awkward moment since Rune had a one sided love for him, but now they’re close friends. Age is close with the champions and they’re all just vibing together, plus we can’t forget his friendship with Impa! They’re bffs! His lover is Mipha and they are engaaaaged and he loves her very much and it’s cute. Age is very proper and polite so strangers respect him enough. And then enemies are just random monsters or rogue yiga clan members and he’s mostly annoyed by them at this point. And he might have a living family, but Nintendo won’t explore him or his life so we’ll see when totk comes out with his family. If they still refuse to explore his life then I’ll just go with some headcanons. I do know that he def has a grandfather and a little sister, but it’s unknown if his father is alive, but I like to think he is.

Wild: Wild cares a lot for Poppy, it’s mostly just an instinct in him to care about and protect her even tho he doesn’t remember her all that well. Wild is kinda doing his own thing and vibing and he’s good friends with a lot people, like Beedle, Teba, Riju, Sidon, and Yunobo, so he’s not entirely friendless minus the champions that… you know… died. He doesn’t have any lovers, he would love Poppy but he can tell that there’s something there that’s keeping it from happening, that being him not being the same person he was 100 years ago, that guy being the person Poppy did Love, so he doesn’t dwell on it too much. He just vibes. Wild is fun with strangers cuz he’s sarcastic, punny, and weird and people like that fhdkdbjdbdkdb. Wild’s major enemies are yiga who are still trying to kill him and stuff, and tho they’re annoying they are still a threat to him. I’m not gonna go too much into it since totk needs to come out but yeah. And the family situation? Yeah they’re def dead by now. Kass is kind enough to invite him over for dinner from time to time tho so he greatly appreciates that.

Warriors: he and Queen Zelda are always pining after each other but they don’t actually do anything about it so they’re just super awkward and flirty and it drives everyone crazy like just KISS already. But Queen is really the only person he can comfortably open up to, and same thing with her. Around each other, they aren’t tied to any status or anything, they’re just people, friends hanging out, so they care deeply for each other. Warriors has a lot of good friends but he’s not super close with them, but he wants to be, he just doesn’t know how to. He actually used to have a stutter but with Proxi there to speak for him and with other help he’s able to talk normally, but he’s still very anxious around people. My warriors isn’t very smooth or confident he just looks pissed all the time but is socially anxious lol. He’s just like Time fr. He is good friends with Impa and Lana tho and he misses the people from different eras. His biggest enemies are dead however one major enemy that is still alive is Cia, who is really the only person he despises, but Cia doesn’t at all remember the details of what she did, so his hatred towards her is confusing for him cuz is it ok for him to hate her so much? She doesn’t remember anything and she’s good now so should he just move on? But yeaaah it’s a rough situation. And the only living family member is Linkle! His twin sister who he did not remember existing. They’re close enough, he gets annoyed with her sometimes but he still cares about her

A Rambling First Thoughts Review + Critique of "Peter Pan and Wendy" (Disney+ 2023 movie) Spoilers ahead.

Okay for being called "Peter Pan and Wendy" I think aside from prequel iterations, this movie had the least bit of connection and bonding between Peter and Wendy that I've ever seen.

Wow okay, not even sure where to begin on the rest of my thoughts but certainly that was the first one. I didn't feel much connection between Peter and Wendy at all, and the story had very little justification for the emotional moments between them it tried to eke out, which is actually very difficult to achieve since the original source material has it baked in that all the adaptations, even the ones that twist the formula, have been able to adapt and grow off of.

Oof and I gotta say the movie rushed the beginning to really crawl through Neverland. I was shocked at how fast it was that they were already going, and it didn't really seem like an urgent event. Just like, oh yeah Peter's just gonna show up at your window and take you to Neverland one day kthxbai. Rather than it being a motivated decision for Wendy to say "I'm growing up tomorrow" (leaving the nursery, going away, etc.) but I don't want to, so I'm going to go and never grow up.

Also sidebar, Wendy my love, being an ass to your brothers is not endearing to your plight and is definitely new for this adaptation which was a Very odd take. And it could be argued by the end...or even the middle...she realizes her responsibility to take care of them and look after them in Neverland but that's a weak sauce character arc for someone who HAS one built in that's just as valid.

A really odd take for them NOT to double cast Jude Law as Mr. Darling and Hook. I actually would have liked to see his take on Mr. Darling. But RIP Mr. Darling had barely a personality at all or anything to do here.

And RIP Nurse Nana. Now you are just a dog with nothing to do, and no reason to be put out in the dog house.

And then Neverland, oh my dear place of literal dreams, what they did to you! Now, I am somewhat a fan of the Home Under the Ground being a castle ruin in this version, that's actually something close to how I've seen Neverland at least once. But it felt very empty, both the Home and the island. It was too...empty. And even though every iteration we know only the pirates, Lost Boys, Peter, the Indians, the fairies, and the mermaids live in and around the island, plus animals, all the other versions haven't felt so barren. Is it because Neverland became one large same-y landmass rather than a place that has mountains and lagoons and tropical forests and literally anything children dream of? Maybe that's part of it. But it's hard to place precisely. It doesn't feel lived in. The castle ruins didn't have beds or a table for meals. It had a neat rope swing and a fireplace yes, but it still just looked visually and felt empty, when a badass castle hideout could be so cool!

And regarding Hook and Peter having a history, having a tragic background. First, I'm not opposed to the friends to enemies take. Saw it done pretty well in the prequel special Neverland, though it was from a Fagin+Snape-like mentor to an orphan Peter who looked up to him, rather than two kids and one who grew up. But again, it may have worked with a different story. I don't think it was the right choice here, or at least it was not properly executed. The voice in my head kept saying, if Hook was a lost boy and Peter's friend and he KNEW where Peter's hideout was all along, then WHY hasn't he tried killing him before? The whole sticking point in the source and other adaptations was that he had NO IDEA where Peter's hideout was, otherwise he would kill him there!

Tiger Lily being a badass is never bad in my book, but once again, her service in the story feels unearned. I don't feel the bond between her and Peter, honestly. She had more of a connection with Wendy (and it caught me off guard how I immediately thought, "okay I would ship that" after their conversation en route to the hideout.) And then her tribe is just sort of there. Without much connection to the island, or to Peter. Tiger Lily calls him "Little Brother," but taking the movie as it is without reference of any other Peter Pan media, it doesn't feel earned from what we are given up to that point. It just feels like Tiger Lily being Peter's deus ex Machina, which really historically has been Tinkerbell, and that made sense given Tink and Peter's shared history and friendship. (Something that's also sadly toned back in this movie as well)

"Peter Pan and Wendy" is not even a poor live action adaptation of a Disney animated movie, it's just... a strange and lackluster adaptation of Peter Pan, which had been done successfully as a Disney animated movie. And I think that feels a bit more disappointing.

How the writing team failed Neteyam

Neteyam himself was written really really well in my opinion but the sheer lack of a proper character or journey or things that make up who he is as a character ends up wasting all the potential he has.

The best way I can illustrate this is to do it in the form of a Pitch Meeting, like that one YouTube account.

screenwriter: ok so the younger characters are gonna be super important to the story and how it impacts the audience so we want them to each have really interesting character arcs that changes them as they each go through their personal journeys

Producer: definitely, so what do you have?

Screenwriter: lo’ak will meet a whale named payakan that helps him learn the harshness of war and a girl named tsireya that shows him he does have a place in the world

Producer: very nice, very relatable and adds a nice hint of teen romance

Screenwriter: kiri will learn she has a very intricate understanding of the sea life and can connect with them beyond what most other na’vi can and she gets a chance to see her mother again when she bonds with the spirit tree

Producer: that’s good, a good addition to Na’vi/avatar lore and her bond with her mother is further developed

Screenwriter: spider has to deal with hating but also forcibly bonding with the man who in a way is his biological father and he saves him from death a second time

Producer: perfect, a great lead into a sequel and he has to struggle with both his human and na’vi sides. So what does neteyam have? Does he get a mate? Does he do anything impactful? Learn anything interesting? Struggle with any particular conflicts?

Screenwriter: oh he dies

Producer: he….dies?

Screenwriter: yup at the end of the movie, he dies.

Producer: does he do anything before his death..? Does he change as a character?

Screenwriter: nah he’s pretty much the same character from when he’s first introduced til his death, he doesn’t really go through any changes, don’t wanna waste too much effort progressing him when he’s just gonna die after all.

Producer: so what purpose does his death achieve? Does he sacrifice his life to save another? Do we get an emotional scene of him saving someone?

Screenwriter: kinda, he shoots people and they shoot back, we’re just gonna have a stray bullet hit him, the emotional part will be later when his family is actually around and he’ll die then so everyone else’s character can be developed from it.

If we were to remove any other character from the rest of the movie, changes would need to be made because they all affect the plot in huge ways. Lo’ak led the kids to the forbidden area, which notifies quaritch of Jake’s presence, and brought the tulkuns back, which is what quaritch used to lure the sullys out. Kiri getting a seizure is what notified quaritch of the sullys’ location and her ability saves neytiri and tui. Spider teaches quaritch to ride the ikran is the one to save him at the end of the movie and hint at a third movie.

But removing neteyam anywhere before his death would do barely anything to the plot because he doesn’t get to do ANYTHING. He wasn’t the one to save lo’ak at the start, he didn’t start the brawl, sure he took the tracker away but that doesn’t have a huge impact on the plot itself and was really more of a death flag for himself. Hell they could’ve had the ilu swim away with it by itself and drop it somewhere.

If a character has no impact in a story other then their death then their death has no real meaning. If their death only serves to further other characters’ plots and developments then they had no meaning as a character.

It legit boggles my mind how they managed to simultaneously write him with so much potential and make us fall in love with him while also simultaneously giving us nothing specifically about him

Ok so I decided to not do the fanfic anymore. I am not a writer and barely anyone reads it. But I still want to share my ideas.

So I'm gonna make headcanons like I have been doing cause its easier while also sharing my ideas.

So let's talk about Haru and the Qsmp

Haru is a neko demon hybrid that lives in the Sweet Dreams Realm where they were given a mysterious golden train ticket. With them and their buddy Owens curiosity, they went to check it out.

2. Haru had an brown speckled egg named Cosmo that unfortuently passed a few days after Bobby's passing. Haru isn't the best at expressing loss that well but it did hurt that day.

3. One day when watching Richas, he basically adopted Haru as their egg (Haru accepted cause they basically hang out often)

4. When Empanada showed up, on the adoption papers Haru's name was on with the rest of the Woman on the island. (Richas didn't like sharing but tolerates it, plus he likes Empanada)

5. Haru is great friends with Fit, Bagi, and Tazercraft, they are friends with a lot of people on the island but these 3 were the ones they hang out with the most.

6. Haru and Tubbo are enemies due to their opinions on create, Haru doesn't hate that mod it just thinks that create shouldn't do everything for them.

While Tubbo disagrees. Plus Tubbo is specifically homophobic with Hideduo and just like about everyone on the island, Haru supports their relationship so that affected their friendship a bit.

7. Foolish is also Haru's enemy for a different reason. It's a one sided thing that Foolish wanted, Haru still has no clue what kind of beef that shark totem has with them.

8. During the happy p*lls arc, Haru was the one that was given them instead of the president (he was kidnapped into the Nether) and Pac despite also being affected with them was able to along side Cellbit, Phil, Fit, Owen, and Bad (and a terrified Tubbo) Saved both them and Pac with the antidote.

9. After the a few days, Haru decided to change themselves a bit as they don't wanna remember the incident.

10. During Purgatory, they were on green gay ninjas and went into a coma during that whole time until the last day.

11. On the new island, Mike actually invited both Owen and Haru to live near his Ranch, Haru accepted and Owen decided to also join them

12. Haru used to not like karaoke but ever since the carnival, they wanna do more (every other weekened Mike and Haru will. Invite some people and hang out and do Karaoke together)

13. Slowly as Haru and Owen lives on the island, they slowly gain their magic back

14. Like how Mike's wife can posess him, Haru's girlfriend can sorta in a different way (she's not a goddess like Mine or Kristin) she uses a special mirror that helps communicate and possess Haru's soul)

15. Kai isn't the only one who has this kind of power, Haru and Owen have a soulbond similar to Tazercraft. Tho they can't switch bodies, they can still communicate in their minds and feel emotions. Their bonds grew to where they minds fused.

16. Haru looks up Fit despite being a bit afraid of the guy from 2b2t. But after getting to know him, they see him as a father figure it never had

Now Owens turn

Owen's a mimikyu hynrid that can shapeshift

2. Owen is Haru's best friend and sibling

3. Owen enjoys create more than Haru but does have similar feelings about it as their friend

4. Around when Haru was given the happy p*lls she was kidnapped by the federation but he was able to escape but wasn't on time to save Haru

5. Owen became Pomme's parent when she asked him to adopt her as Bagherra went missing (not to replace her but to fill that void in Pomme's heart) he still is considered her parent even tho Bagherra is back

6. Owen may seem calm and looks cute but she can still be scary, and still have the curse in mimikyu form. Tho in human form he has more control over his curse

7. On the new island, he was able to go into her human form again, which is more easier to do stuff, especially if Haru and him are in a situation where he needs to get them out

8. Haru was suspicious of Ever when he randomly showed up a bit after the cargo ship did, tho warm3d up to the elf, But then he was against him when he became president. And was the one to get Cucurucho's help when Even started to try getting rid of the eggs.

9. Owen feels him and Haru are similar to Pac and Mike in different ways. Tho he doesn't know who is similar to Pac and Mike (personally she thinks Haru is a bit like Mike more)

10. Owen did have a crush on a few of the guys on the island. Tho at the time knew he wouldnt be able to be with any of them. But ever since he got hus human form again, did try to ask Etoiles on date (They went to a dungeon tho they probably won't get anywhere far from just being friends)

11. Owen is Brazilian, ever since the Brazilians showed up he wrote and spoke more Portuguese and even helps Haru learn

12. Owen is allergic to nuts and everyone found that out (despite Haru's panic) when Chayanne made something with nuts, he's okay especially as h's a part ghost in her mimikyu form, but Chayanne constantly apologies to his tio that day (Philza and Owen had to reassure the apologetic egg)

13. Owen is very protective of his friends and family, especially with Haru as he met Haru when they showed up not mentally okay, so when he found out Haru was controlled through the p*lls, Owen did everything to help save her sibling.

14. Owen was one Soulfire during Pugratory but at the last day, while getting to the boat, he stuck by Haru and even tried making a clear pack with the magic he had.

15. Owen had to drag a passed out neko demon off the boat (he would carry them but she unfortuently can't as a mimikyu)

16. After Haru was healed from the happy p*lls, Owen slept with Haru to comfort it. (Haru held the mimikyu like a plushy)

17. When Pac met Owen, he thought he was a cat and kept pspspsing her until Owen had to use a sign to correct the siren hybrid (Haru helped explain as Owen can't write very fast)

I just wanna begin by saying I'm no expert on film- and tv-making, so I don't think I'll have much professional input, but. here we go!

(this is gonna be a spoilery review, just a warning)

overall, the quality was pretty uneven, I'd say. the show was advertised as the most expensive series ever made, and... I personally couldn't see that. especially regarding costumes and cgi, i feel like there was a lot of room to improve. some views and wide shots of locations were pretty nice (lindon, eregion, also khazad dum was just beautiful in some shots), but the scene where they were sailing to valinor looked really bad to me, especially those cgi seagulls.

the acting was a mixed bag. there are characters whose acting i really enjoyed (miriel in the second half of the series, elrond, arondir had his moments, adar was GREAT, elendil was pretty cool, durin was good even when the script wasn't), but it only made the rest look worse in comparison, i'm afraid.

I'd say the music was good. I'm not sure i'd call it memorable, because apart from the opening credits music i well. don't remember it, but that may just be my shitty memory jshkjfhjdk but I don't think there were any moments where music felt unfitting or jarring. it was fine.

about the writing... okay, that's a long one.

as for the plot - they didn't have many rights to tolkien's works, so their options were limited, plot-wise. even the intro with some information from the years of the trees and the first age was very general, and didn't even mention the kinslaying.

but while they had to invent a lot of plot, the characters were RIGHT THERE. all they had to do was do them justice, and in my opinion - they didn't. galadriel isn't wise or power hungry (in my opinion), and it's a shame. her arc is in most part just the writers screaming ISN'T IT IRONIC HOW SHE CAUSED THE THING SHE TRIED TO STOP, it lacks any subtlety.

(on this topic, why did sauron tempt her, and not celebrimbor? does it stink a bit of homophobia or...? it's like they were deadly afraid of even a hint of homoerotic subtext. like im sure that's what happened, but it still sucks)

it's a story about forging of the rings of power, and celebrimbor is barely there. i'm really baffled by some of the writing choices, because they clearly had the rights to the rings, celebrimbor and sauron, so why not tell the story that was written? there is enough material there to tell a compelling story, and in my opinion choosing to omit and overwrite it was a bad one. neither galadriel, nor the original plot benefitted from the writing choices, i think. they both ended up heavily flattened and less interesting than their original versions.

galadriel especially had many of her ambitions and stuggles taken away from her - by making her conflict with sauron central to the plot, the show takes away from the fact that galadriel's biggest stuggle has always been with herself - and in lotr, she wins when she resists the ring (NOT sauron - she resists her hunger for power and her huge ambition. it's about HER). it was one of the changes that made me the saddest, because they had a truly amazing, iconic female character right there, and they wasted her potential so painfully.

it WOULD feel wrong to say i wish they just hadn't chosen her as the main character, because we DO still need more female leads - many, many more. but i can't not be angry at the way they stripped her of her ambitions, best strengths and defining flaws.

there are also many changes to the lore, to which my reactions switched between "why add that?" (isildur's sister, the priestesses? witches? whoever they were), "why change that" (mithril lore (im still all "???" whenever i try to make sense of it)), and "oh my fucking GOD" (halbrand as sauron, mordor's on/off switch). especially the last one was... ridiculous. mordor is a country that's seeped through with evil because of the dark forces inhabiting it for ages, and you're telling me they decided to make it so that it was created within a few minutes because a guy put a sword into a keyhole? fuck off

the whole sauron thing is a material for a separate post and this is already long enough, but I'll just say. i don't get why they had to make drama around sauron. everyone and their mother knows who sauron is, you can just use the impact that this character has instead of creating conflict with a weak plot justification. of course it was going to be hard to create a character from someone who in LOTR is more a symbol than a person - but in my opinion, they didn't make any right choices regarding him. and they didn't even tell the actor he was going to be playing sauron until they were shooting episode three, which is a trend that seriously needs to stop.

all in all, if you're looking for bits of story and lore that tolkien came up with, they are not there. solid 90% of the show - maybe more - is something new or changed

the costumes are... meh, mostly. there is one thing in particular that makes my blood boil, and it's Numenorean armor, best visible on Miriel. take a look at her sleeves:

it's fucking. fabric with the scales pattern printed on it??? which is either a pretty bad costume idea/design, or THE cheapest, laziest, almost insulting execution I've ever seen.

also, many costumes are only like two layers of clothes, they usually have few details like jewellery and such, so they often look simply unfinished. especially elven costumes are underwhelming. I think as far as i remember, the dwarves' costumes looked best. I'd recommend watching LanaMarie's videos on youtube, I've stumbled upon them while looking for video essays on rop and it's clear she knows what she's talking about when it comes to costuming.

(also, I stand by what i said when the first promo pics came out - why would you get rid of long-haired male elves? I hate that they did that. are they THAT afraid of breaking gender norms?)

last but not least - i was seriously not impressed by the actors' accents choices. you got English elves, irish harfoots, scottish dwarves, cockney (? i'm not sure) orcs... it was a mess of really ugly stereotypes.

(EDIT: I worded this poorly - it sounds like I mean to say it's the actors' fault, but that's not what I meant. I wanted to say that the actors playing certain races seemed to have been assigned certain accents by the creators and along with some script choices it created a few ugly situations that felt very stereotypical and harmful towards real life people who speak with those accents)

HOWEVER, despite all that i'm gonna end on a more positive note and refer to your last question, my favourite scene. this spot is easily taken by the scene where disa and some other dwarves sing to the mountain to let go of trapped miners. it had amazing impact, to me it was a beautiful piece of lore, and it showed the love and respect and trust the dwarves have for the mountains. it was so short and simple yet so amazingly effective in conveying everything it had to convey. also disa's singing gave me goosbumps, the actress has an amazing voice.
