just found out my cousin (who lives in England) is in the art department of a bunch of shows??? And she worked oN DOCTOR WHO? AND HAD LUNCH WITH DAVID TENNANT???? and she just told me so casually because she's interested in the art, not the show? I mean, excuse me? She worked on SHERLOCK???? FOR A WHOLE SEASON?? She worked on Peaky Blinders and Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones??? And probably other things because she has a shitty memory and according to her everything is a blur?? AND AT ONE POINT SHE WAS LIKE: "oh and have you ever heard of Neil Gaiman?" And I was trying not to scream, because yes, of course I've heard of Neil, he's only my favorite author, I've only read like all of his books multiple times, and if you say you worked on Good Omens or the Sandman I'm going to lose it completely. So I said "yeah I've read a couple of his books," -you know, like a liar- "what about him?" and she goes "well I worked on one of his shows and he's brilliant i just can't remember which one" and i go "w-what do you mean he's brilliant? You're.. you're talking about his writing... his writing is brilliant, right?" And she cheerfully says "oh no I don't read books, I ment he was really nice and brilliant when I talked to him" and i go "WHAT DID YOU TALK ABOUT WHAT DID YOU TALK ABOUT" and she thinks for a moment and goes "oh! BRICKS" WHAT IN THE WORLD YES NO THAT MAKES SENSE YOU GET TO WORK AND TALK WITH NEIL FUCKING GAIMAN AND YOU TALK ABOUT BRICKS? NO THAT'S TOTALLY NORMAL I'M NOT MAD ".... it was what I was designing at the time, I needed to know what vibe the bricks should have. Anyway want to see the spinning fireplace I made for doctor who" WHAT THE FUCK.

Zac Posen is the creative director of GAP - so they will be having a big comeback socially…just not in the UK where they’ve closed their stores. This instagram account @gapplaylists is really great for looking at their art direction and what kind of culture they were trying to cultivate for customers whilst they were in store.

Apple Vision Pro has been released. Thanks, we hate it – it seems quite techy, a little uncouth to be seen in public with. Maybe the best video is by Marques Brown, as you can see what it looks like, what it’s like to wear it etc. He loves a tech product….

Midjourney are also going into hardware. Which is something to look out for in the future.

King Charles III has decided to disclose that he’s being treated for cancer. Which puts the country in a unstable position. A big worry is that this is the end of an era for the monarchy, the end of the old British tradition with Will being the next in line. You have to think aboutwhat economically and socially happened when Queen Elizabeth died – there will be interruptions, this sense of mourning, a question of legacy. King Charles is known for being an environmentalist – sort of the interest in the innovative. With this brings a crisis in national identity: who are we? What defines modern Britain when the Tories are running on an anti-refugee platform? You have to put this into context that when a Royal Family member dies, the identity of the country somewhat changes and I think that with QEII there was still this essence of Blairite Britain which feels like quite the opposite to where we’re at now. It proposed to be this celebration of “multiculturalism”.

These big events matter – even though they don’t matter to some people on a personal level – because it forces the country to stop and reflect because there are bank holidays, closures, etc outside of normal holiday time. Also the fact that The Crown exists and this level of characterisation and also parasocial relationships people have with the Royal Family.  

Also this *is* an election year. So anything could happen. But most likely, people get more used to seeing William around, he as a head of state seeking to define himself, his voice, his attitudes towards people and how his public image can improve……. Possibly after this...will the republicanism movement grow? I think the public is less forgiving during this cost of living crisis and a new young face doesn’t help.

The way that Jack, Rose, and Nine feel far more like a poly trio in late Season 1 rather than any sort of love triangle is INSANE. The vibes are FERAL and IMMACULATE. The kisses in Parting of the Ways. The sharing-story banter in Boom Town. The flirting. "Buy me a drink." "Continue on with whatever you were doing." The dancing. Jack dancing with Rose. Rose dancing with Nine. Nine offering Jack a dance. Everything Ninerose related. "Before you, I was a coward." The fact that Jack only makes sure that Rose is safe before dying for them, Rose brings him back to life, Nine's every interaction with either of them in the finale...honestly the way that Ten interacts with Jack in Utopia (ESPECIALLY the scene in the radiation room/Jack's reaction to hearing Rose is alive) makes even more sense if you realize that he and Jack are exes and that they once loved each other and Rose equally and then the Tenth Doctor WRECKED that by leaving Jack behind
