One of the things that the RWBY x Justice League comic has with the Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part One film, is that they have featured Bruce and Weiss as friends and allies. One of the comic covers is even of them standing back to back, along with the film's poster placing the two close to one another.

That's why quite a few people are already considering on the idea of shipping them. I already have two possible titles in minds, but don't know which one to use? Should it be BruWeiss or White Bat?

I wrote a review for this short story in simple Japanese about two bats last year back when it was published on the authors blog. I was really drawn in by the cute illustrations. Now this short story is also featured as one of the free tadoku graded reader books which made me want to share it again as a free reading resource.

While the grammar should be fitting for N4 readers, the vocabulary in this text is a bit challenging. Because of this, I would recommend this story to N4 readers with a broad vocabulary or early N3 readers.

“Whitebats”

Je suis actuellement en train de préparer doucement mon nanowrimo (NAtionnal NOvel WRIting MOnth). 

Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas, il s’agit, à l’instar de l’inktober, de créer tous les jours durant tout un mois, mais avec l’objectif cette fois d’écrire tout un livre. 50 000 mots en fait. 

Le nanowrimo est normalement un challenge communautaire, mais comme je ne suis pas communautaire pour deux sous, il me sert surtout de prétexte pour me fixer un objectif et avancer (Comme cette idée de poster un dessin tous les mercredis. Ça marche bien chez moi apparemment, ce genre de petits défis)

C’est un de mes frères qui m’a un jour parlé de ce défi annuel, et ça m’a tout de suite donné envie d’essayer. C’est maintenant ma troisième année je crois bien, et je m’apprête à entamer la deuxième partie des “Mystères de Gandala”, dont je vous parlerai certainement un peu plus dans les prochaines semaines. 

En attendant, connaissez-vous cette théorie qui veut qu’un des hémisphères de notre cerveau régisse le langage et l’autre le dessin ? 

Parce qu’autant vous dire qu’à replonger ainsi dans mes textes et dans la planification de la suite, j’ai galéré comme pas permis pour faire ce dessin. La communication entre mes deux hémisphères c’est pas trop ça chez moi par moment ! 

Ceci dit, voici les Whitebats, un groupe de petites frappes issues de milieux (très) favorisés avec pour la plupart une haute estime d’eux mêmes, et pas mal de dédain en réserve pour le reste du monde. (Comme quoi il ne faut jamais se fier aux apparences)

A l’instar de leurs parents, qui pour la plupart les élèvent comme des extensions d'eux-mêmes et de leurs aspirations, ils cumulent les défauts et les tares en tout genre. En groupe, ils prennent plaisir à jouer les bourreaux juniors, à cibler les plus fragiles et les plus isolés, leur victime favorite étant l’héritier le plus coté de Gandala, qui pourtant jouit lui-même d’un orgueil qui côtoie les étoiles. 

"Sur le bonheur, il n'y a rien à dire". Je ne sais plus de qui est cette phrase, mais c'est une de ces petites perles qu'il faut garder en tête lorsqu'on écrit une histoire : il n'y a rien à dire sur la perfection et sur un monde sans problème. Une histoire raconte une progression. A partir de quoi voulez vous progresser si tout le monde est déjà parfait ?

Et puis j’adore mes personnages quand ils sont pleins de défauts ^^

C’est sorti de nulle part, mais visiblement la petite bande des Whitebats m’inspire : j’ai eu envie de travailler sur Karles Jensen.

L’apparente naïveté sous laquelle se présente au quotidien l’un des plus jeunes membres du groupe des Whitebats lui va si bien que ses propres amis s’y sont laissés prendre. Mais s’il n’est ni le plus fort, ni le plus courageux de sa bande, Karles est certainement l’esprit le plus érudit et affûté de tous. 

Etudiant dans l’ombre les plus ténébreux secrets du monde obscur (oui, c’est très très sombre), Karles se passionne depuis toujours pour les rites interdits et oubliés, les créatures rares et disparues, et se plaît à ratisser les musées et à écumer les antiquaires à la recherche d’artefacts uniques investis de mystérieux pouvoirs. 

Fin stratège habitué à dissimuler ses ambitions derrière l’ego de ses camarades, qu’il flatte volontiers en se faisant passer pour un simple suiveur, Karles multiplie les talents et observe, l’air de rien, profitant de l’ombre de ceux qui prennent volontiers sur eux le feu des projecteurs pour grimper en douce les échelons de sa hiérarchie. 

Mais tout malin qu'il puisse être, et habitué à longer les murs de la vie sous une fausse attitude, que se passerait-il si un jour la lumière venait à éclairer ses faits et gestes ?
