first dates
“Jamessss!” Sirius whined, rolling up and rolling down his sleeves for the fourth time. He had done his eyeliner and finally picked an outfit. James sighed, he was laying on his stomach in his four person bed, watching through the open door of the bathroom as Sirius stressed over how he looked in the mirror. He pushed his glasses higher up on his nose, and rolled out of bed.
He came over to Sirius, stood behind him in the mirror and fixed his sleeves for him. He looked over Sirius’s shoulders and met his eyes in the mirror.
Sirius sighed, “You think it’s going to go well?”
James huffed out a laugh. “Padfoot, this is Remus we’re talking about.” He grabbed a brush off the counter and started running it through Sirius’ hair. “Remus who you’ve shared a room with for the past four and a half years. One of our best friends. He knows you, he’s seen you, and quite frankly he’s been pining over you for the past 2 years. He wouldn’t be going on this date with you if he had thought it was a bad idea. And I'm sure you wouldn’t either, hm?”
Sirius hums in response. “I guess…” he starts. He shakes his head and turns to face James, and James places the brush back on the counter. “But what if it doesn’t go well?”
“Then you go back to just being friends. If it's awkward and uncomfortable then you just go back to how you were before. I highly doubt one uncomfortable night will make things really change between the two of you. If you try it and it doesn't work then that’s okay.”
Sirius nods along, a small smile playing at his lips. He turns back towards the mirror and nods, “Okay,” he says, “okay. Thank you, Jaime.”
James smiles at him in the mirror, “it’ll go well Pads,” he reassures him. Sirius smiles back, going to fiddle with his hair. Half an hour later, and a lot of light hearted banter, his hair is up and he’s ready to go. James pats him on the back and walks him to the girls stairs. The wolf whistles at Sirius as he leaves back to his door, laughing when Sirius goes red and yells back in mock offense.
They had charmed the stairs a long time ago, it had taken an insane amount of magic and research, but they had finally made it so boys can go to the girls dorms and girls could go to the boys as long as they didn’t have i’ll intentions.
Sirius took a deep breath. In and out, in and out. He starts walking up the stairs. He’s okay, he has this, it’s just Moony. His Moony. That thought still brings butterflies to his stomach, a tug of protectiveness sparking in him and painting a faint blush over his face. He was dressed in a black button up, the top three buttons left open, sleeves rolled up and bunched around his elbows, shirt tucked into his black slacks. He was dressed nice, but a casual sort of nice. His hair was tied up in a loose bun, half up half down, held with his wand sticking through the middle. Holding a small arrangement of flowers in one hand, he raised his fist and knocked on the door with the other.
Remus was looking at the outfits he brought that were laid over Lily’s bed. His left arm crossed over his chest and his left rubbing over his mouth.
“I’m not sure Lils,” he mumbled. So far they had decided on a pair of brown corduroy pants. He had a few sweaters, a cardigan, two sweater vests and a short sleeved collared shirt to pick from. Lily had decided yes to the collared shirt, but they were debating what to put over it. He had tried a couple things already, vetoing the cardigan and two of the sweaters already.
“Try this,” Lily said, picking up a light green sweater and throwing it at him. Remus souttered when it hit him in the face. He glared at her as he put it over his button up and Lily hid her grin behind her hand. He turned to look in the full sized mirror that the girls had in their dorm before shaking his head no.
Lily nodded, “Yeah I agree, this one bunches weird,” she said, trying to adjust the way it sits on his shoulders. He took it off and added it into the vetoed pile.
Next she picked up an oversized deep blue sweater vest with an argyle design on the front. Remus tried it on and looked in the mirror. He looked at Lily and smiled, “This is the one,” he said softly. Lily nodded in agreement, a smile gracing her lips.
Not much was down with his hair, it was short and fluffy, his amber eyes staring back at himself in the mirror. He went for a pair of socks with hippogriffs on it and his ratty old grey converse shoes from home.
Running his hands through his hair one more time, he started getting his things together. A sack of knuts, sickles, and a few galleons, along with his muggle camera that his mother had given him in first year. Every time he went home he would save his photos to his computer, another courtesy of having a muggle mum, before coming back to take new photos.
At exactly 3 o’clock he heard a knock on the door. Today was a Hogsmeade day, and Siriud had finally asked Remus out.
“Okay.” Remus breathed. “Okay! This will be great, it’ll be fine, it’s going to be fine,” he said, looking at himself in the mirror, bending over to see himself close up. He was messing with his hair a bit more before he heard Lily laugh at him. Not unkindly so much as amused.
“I’ve never seen you this nervous over a date,” she said, smiling. Remus groaned, standing up fully and looking at her.
“Shut uppp,” he complained. She giggled.
“It’s kind of cute.”
“Shut it,” groaned, head tipping into his hands. He heard another, more timid knock at the door. “Oh shit,” he said, going to open it.
Sirius stood on the other side with a soft smile on his face. “Hi Re,” he said. Then he raised his hand, holding a bundle of daisies and blue salvias, no doubt picked from the herbology greenhouse. Remus beamed back at him.
“Thanks Pads,” he said. They stared at each other for a moment before Lily cleared her throat awkwardly. They both startled, “Ready to go?” Remus asked. Sirius nodded and they headed down the stairs together, Remus mouthing the words thank you to Lily over his shoulder. He magicked his flowers upstairs and to their dorm, having them rest on his bedside table.
This is uncharted territory for the both of them, not uncomfortable, just new. To be honest, Sirius can’t imagine a world where he would be uncomfortable around Remus.
The two made their way down the moving stairs and out of the castle, speaking and joking to each other. McGonagall gave Remus a knowing look when the two handed in their permission slips, Sirius’ having forged his parents’ signatures since third year. If McGonagall knew, she never said anything.
“Have fun boys,” she said, sparing them less than a glance before she turned to the next people in line. Sirius stared wide eyed at her before looking at Remus, who looked like he was trying to stifle his laughter.
“Does she know? Do you think she knows?” Sirius buried his face in his hands as they started walking to Hogsmeade. “Oh my god she totally knows.”
Remus laughed, letting his hand fall to the small of Sirius’ back, guiding him through the crowd. Sirius’ face burned red, but his lips twitched into a smile and he couldn’t help laughing too.
“She definitely knows,” Remus agreed.
“Ugh,” Sirius whined, “Now she’s gonna look at us weird in class Moony!”
Remus’ head tipped back when he laughed this time, and Sirius couldn’t help but think that he was beautiful. He walked a little closer to Remus, and Remus’ hand fell to Sirius’ hip, rubbing circles into it a few times before dropping it. Halfway through their fifth year, Remus was taller than all the other marauders. He was nearly 6 feet tall, while Sirius was still stuck at 5’7. Perfect height for Remus to rest his arm on his shoulder, which he did.
“She’s not gonna look at us weird Padfoot, she won't care,” he said.
“But Mooonyyyy,” Sirius whined again, “She’s gonna do the thing.”
Sirius pouted, actually pouted at him. Remus could not keep the grin off his face.
“She’s not going to be mean Padfoot.”
“I know that, of course I know that. But she’s going to do the thing with her eyes. Like she’s making fun of us,” Sirius stepped away from Remus a little, waiting for his hand to drop off his shoulder before grabbing it with his own. He didn’t look at him as their fingers interlaced, but he couldn’t hide the way he was beaming.
Remus huffed a laugh, “Okay fine, I guess I know what you’re talking about,” he said. “But to be frank with you Pads, I don’t really mind if she does.”
“Yeah?” Sirius asked, looking at him.
“Yeah,” Remus replied. Sirius’ smile turns soft, close mouthed and his lips curling up at the ends.
“Okay,” he said quietly, and readjusted his grip on Remus’ hand to hold on tighter.
They continued their walk to Hogsmeade, stepping through the snow and realizing just how bad of an idea this was to wear converse. Remus’ socks were wet and his shoes were an entirely different color from when he left Hogwarts.
I’m lucky I'm a wizard, he thought as casted a drying spell. They finally made it to Hogsmeade, staring down at all the shops lined up next to each other.
“Where do you wan-“ Remus cut himself off with a laugh, Sirius was already dragging him off by their still entwined hands. He brings them to Honeydukes, pushing open the door and navigating through the busy store.
“Where’re you taking me, sweetheart?” Remus asks, the pet name slipping out easily. Sirius can’t hide the blush that spreads over his face and down his neck, and although Remus lets out a slight laugh, he doesn’t mention it.
“I’m buying you chocolate Moony.” Sirius says, then for extra emphasis, “Duh.”
“Woah, woah, wait- what?”
“Very good alliteration Moony, but that doesn’t quite make sense. Wanna try again for something more coherent?” Sirius grins at him. Remus stares at him in shock.
“You know what alliteration is?” He asks dumbly.
“Oi! I take muggle studies!”
“I’m surprised you listen to be entirely honest.”
“Hey!” Sirius squawks. A few heads turn, Sirius sticks his tongue out at the closest person.
“You’re like a little kid,” Remus laughs. “A little kid in a candy shop.”
“Yep!” Sirius says, popping the p. They end up in front of a trolley with all sorts of chocolate treats. “Now pick something Moonykins.”
“I’m really okay Sirius, you don't need to buy me anything.” Remus tries, but Sirius just talks over him.
“Nope, nuh uh, i'm getting you something and you love love love chocolate so i'm getting you chocolate.” Remus is looking at him with a stuck expression, something Sirius can't quite read so he adds on, “Please Rem. If it makes you feel better the money came from my parents, and I love spending it on things they don’t approve of.”
Part of Remus feels that in any other circumstance he should be offended by that, his dates parents not approving of him even though they’ve never met, but hearing that Walburga and Orion Black don’t approve might be one of the best compliments ever.
Renus fakes a groan, acting like it is more effort than it is to grab his favorite chocolate bar off of the trolley, and Sirius grins. And if he grabs two more when Remus isn’t looking, then that's none of his business. On his way to the register he snags a cauldron cake for himself as well.
As Sirius pays, Remus looks around the crowded store. Through the store window he can see James and Peter walking with Lily. Dorcas and Marlene had their own date, leaving Lily to her own devices. She agreed to hang out with the other two marauders as long as James didn’t hit on her. Over the past 4 years she had become quite close to the boys, and she’s grown to not totally hate James’ presence.
“Okay!” Sirius cheered, he held a small paper bag with the Honeydukes logo on the front. “Where now?”
Remus hummed. Hand in hand they left the store, walking down and looking at the shops. He pulled Sirius toward the three broomsticks. “It’s cold, I want hot cocoa,” he said.
Sirius beamed at him, “Of course you do, you’re Moony. Haven’t gotten your chocolate fix today, have you?” He teased. Remus huffed, depositing Sirius at a small table for two in a quiet corner by the window. With a quick, “I’ll be right back,” Remus had gone to order their drinks at the counter. He came back a few minutes later, saying that they’ll bring their drinks to them.
So far the date was going pretty well if Remus said so himself. They were both having fun, talking and laughing like always. No uncomfortable or awkward lulls in conversation. It felt right, the two of them together like this. Sure they were best friends first, but maybe they could be more than that.
Sirius loves Remus’ eyes. The way they shine in the sun, the small specks of gold in his light brown. He doesn’t think he’s ever really gotten to look at Remus like this, open and warm and he was allowed to look without giving his silly little crush away.
Sirius has a necklace on. A small silver chain that loops gracefully around his neck and down to his chest. Sitting at the bottom is a silver moon. His nails are painted back and he keeps fiddling with it, rolling the pendant between his fingers and running them through the chain. And Remus can’t stop looking at it. Because that necklace, that moon, it’s him, he’s Moony. Sirius’ Moony if he’ll have him, and he can’t fight the smile that breaks out over his face. Sirius is smiling back at him, his foot lightly tapping Remus’ underneath the table. Sirius laughs, and it feels like they haven’t stopped laughing and smiling and joking since they left Hogwarts.
This wasn’t hard. Not awkward or uncomfortable or grasping for something to say to fill in the inevitable silence that usually comes with a first date. This is easy and light and to Sirius it feels like the home he’s always wished for. His safety and warmth coming from somebody, not somewhere like he always thought it would. He can’t find it in himself to mind much though, not when he sees the way Remus’ eyes crinkle in the corners when he smiles, or the way his freckles dance across his face, and Merlin even his scars look beautiful, Sirius thinks.
He can imagine himself in a million different worlds with Remus, but he can’t imagine a single one where he isn’t the most beautiful man ever.
Sirius found his person in his best friend. His world, his home, and place to give all his love. And he feels like he’s bursting at the seams with this need to share all his adoration for Remus but he isn’t quite sure how to put it all into words. How do you tell someone that you grew up with that you love them from their hair to their toes, from the freckle that laid right but their right eyebrow all the down to the scar that wrapped around their ankle. How do you tell someone that’s held you after nightmares and helped you burn letters from your mother and always gave you one of their sweaters on the way back to Hogwarts after a trip home. How do you tell someone like that you love them and appreciate them and would cross the ocean for them, build mountains, get the stars for them. How do you convey so many thoughts and feelings of love and thankfulness into words that mean something? Something that sounds worthy to be heard and like you mean. A simple thank you isn’t enough, a simple i love you, a hug, those aren’t enough. Not when Remus deserves the entire world, not when his smile is so contagious that Sirius can’t help but be in a good mood.
This may only be their first date, but Sirius has known Remus, really gotten to know him, over the past 4 and a half years. And Sirius knows that he loves him and never ever wants to lose him.
He figures that one day, with time, he’ll figure out how to tell him. How to show him that he tells Remus he means it. That Sirius would personally lasso down the sun and keep it below the horizon if it meant Remus could sleep longer if he asked him to. Sirius would do anything if Remus asked him to, willing to go the lengths of the world if it meant Remus’ smile never left his face.
But Sirius can’t convey that in so many words, he can’t convey that in any words really, so instead he steals one of Remus’ legs and traps it between his own under the table. He looks at Remus and hopes he understands that he’s having one of the best days of his life. Remus looks at him the same way, and Sirius’ gets the feeling that he understands.
It’s not long before Rosmerta, and young witch in her early twenties came over to the two, bring their hot chocolate. It wasn’t uncommon for Sirius to flirt with her while she was behind the counter, laughing and joking and being charismatic. She always laughed him off, and Sirius never actually planned for it to go anywhere, not sure he wanted it to, but they had become a sort of easy friends. He smiled at her, toothy and cricked, and bright. He winked at her as she put their drinks down.
“Thanks Merta!’ He cheered, reaching for his cup.
“Yeah, yeah,” she said with a wave of her hand. She smiled despite herself. She stopped and really looked at the two boys in front of her, the linked feet under the table, the lack of the other two boys who are usually with them, the fact that they were dressed nicer than usual. He smile widened a little bit more, fully taking in the two. Remus ducked his head and blushed.
“Your guys’ drinks are on the house tonight,” she said. Sirius grinned at her and Rosmerta winked at him as she walked away from their table.
“Oh merlinnn,” Remus groaned. Sirius laughed at him.
“Oh come on, Moonyyy. We just got free drinks.” Sirius joked.
“Yeah, she probably gave us free drinks because you didn’t hit on her today.”
“Hey!” Sirius pretended to pout on him. “I’ll have you know that anyone who gets hit on me is extremely lucky!”
Remus hummed in agreement. He raised his mug to his lips. “Hmm. Does thatmean I’m going to get lucky today then?” He raised his eyebrow at sirius, cocky, and then choked on his drink laughing at Sirius wide eyed stare. He truly looked like a deer in headlights. Maybe he should have been the stag and not James.
“Wh-wha-what?” Sirius spluttered, before composing himself. “If you’d like that then of course my favorite, perfect Moonykins.”
Remus laughed again, shaking his head as his eyes closed from laughter. It was a good day. Reaching into the Honeydukes bag on the table next to him, Sirius pulled out a keychain with a pawprint hanging from it. He slid it across the table, not saying anything but looking at Remus hopefully.
Remus loved it. It was gold with smaller black details. He raised his eyebrow at Sirius for further explanation, but picked it up and examining it in his hands. “What’s this?” He prompted softly.
Sirius huffed, twisting his hands together in his lap and squeezing Remus’ leg from where it was trapped still between his own.
“I saw it hanging by the cashier. I thought it was nice, and er, that you may like it? Anyways I bought it for you and if you don’t like it then it’s fine! I can alwa-,” Sirius rambled.
“I love it Pads,” Remus cut him off. “Thank you.” Sirius stuck his tongue at him.
“You’re welcome Moooooonyyyy,” he singsonged.
A little more banter and another few mugs of hot cocoa later, and it was started to get dark out. Kids were starting their walk back to Hogwarts, and the snow was dying down.
“Ready to go Pads?” Remus asked. Sirius nodded, finishing off his mug and picking up the Honeydukes bag. As they walked back to Hogwarts, hand in hand, Sirius had never been this type of happy. One that didn’t feel like was going to end when the night was over, that had his insides feeling warm and fuzzy. He loved this, he loved today, and he couldn’t wait to love more days like this in the future. He looked up at Remus.
“I had fun,” he said instead. Remus smiled down at him,
“Me too?”
“Enough fun to go out with me again?” Sirius asked. Remus nodded.
“Definitely.”
There weren’t a lot of people like there were when they went there. Instead of bustling friend groups and loud laughter ringing up and down the trail from Hogsmeade to Hogwarts, there was quiet. Their foostepsmaking sound as they sunk into the snow, a group of three girls walking a little ways in front of them, probably a few further behind them as well as everyone trickled out at their own pace.
“In fact,” Remus started. “I had enough fun to ask if you wanted to be my boyfriend”. Sirius absolutely beamed at him.
Remus leaned down a little, Sirius standing up as high as he could. They stopped walking, pulling off to the side.
“Of course, Moons.”
And Remus smiled against Sirius’ lips as he kissed him. Short and sweet, but it left Sirius’ heading spinning all the same, smile gracinghis face as he hugged Remus. Sirius practically skipped all the the way back, an extra hop added to his step, fingers interlaced with Remus’.
Neither could keep the smiles off of their faces. Coming back to the school McGonagall could see the way they both glowed with happiness. And despite her usual stern face, her heart soared in happiness because both Remus and Sirius deserved so much more than what the world had given them, and maybe, just maybe together they could give each other the world.

Summer Camp AU - @wolfstarmicrofic - 839 words
Bullshit. That's what it fucking was. Utter fucking bullshit. He had a plan. A simple one too, with only two steps to follow.
1) Coming home from boarding school for the summer
2) Taking off to James' the next day
Except he didn't anticipate that his mother would send him to some stupid summer camp before James could pick him up. All that because "maybe they will teach you some manners, unlike that heathen friend of yours". Sure, he and James got in a lot of trouble at school, but still. That wasn't fair. And with no phone too !
Now here he was, stuck in the middle of the woods with a bunch of kids younger than 12, with no way to contact James, bored out of his mind. He was 16 ! He should have been able to spend his summer the way he wanted. And it was definitely not building shitty wood cabins with some mean instructors yelling at him. Apparently being the oldest meant he had to help the kids. He wasn't a damn carpenter, for god's sake.
The only one who seemed to be around his age was a broody looking boy whose weird name he didn't remember. He was always aside from the group, reading or even smoking, even though it wasn't allowed. Sirius was a little bit annoyed by that because he was never getting yelled at for it. He supposed the instructors were a little bit scared of him and didn't want to bother. He could look quite scary, with the scar running accross his face and his tall figure. Sirius must have been scared of him. Maybe that was why he didn't dare talk to him until the third day. Maybe that was why he couldn't hold his gaze everytime their eyes met.
But on the third day, Sirius had enough. That boy was only a teenage boy like him after all. So he managed to avoid the attention of the instructors and approached him as he was reading, sitting under a tree.
"So, are you a really useless instructor or do your parents hate you too ?" he said while he sat beside him.
To Sirius' surprise, the boy smiled as he met his eyes. Oh, he thought. He's not scary at all. He's adorable. He pushed the thought away.
"Well I suppose my dad wanted to get rid of me. I'm Remus, by the way."
"That's a weird name, Remus."
"Weirder than being named after a star ?"
Sirius' mind blanked.
"Wha- How did you- ?"
At that, Remus just laughed. And oh, he should stop laughing. Sirius couldn't bear such a pretty sound.
"Some of us actually remember the others' names, Sirius", he smiled.
Sirius ignored the flutter in his chest at hearing his name in that warm voice, and he smirked, "do you know everyone's name, then, Remus ?"
Remus blushed. "Nah, just yours."
For the first time since he arrived in this stupid camp, Sirius felt his lips stir in a genuine smile. Okay then, Remus seemed fun.
They stayed under the tree for almost an hour, mostly chatting about their shared misfortune being here, and sharing a smoke. Stealing glances the other's way too. Surprisingly, nobody disturbed them until the outdoor activity ended and they had to go back to the camp for dinner. They sat together while they ate some very untasty food. Sirius spent his dinner trying to convince Remus that his parents sent him to this camp because he was a true rebel. But Remus kept laughing and looking at him with something like fond disbelief. So Sirius kept insisting. Maybe because he was stubborn and proud. Maybe because he wanted to hear that laugh again.
Overall, Sirius went to bed with a smile, thinking he made a real friend. Maybe that camp wouldn't be so bad, after all. But an hour after bed time, as everyone was already asleep, he heard a whisper shaking him away from his thoughts.
"Sirius, are you sleeping ?"
"Remus ?! What are you doing ?"
"Shh, don't wake them up !"
He sat up in his bed. He could barely make out Remus' amber eyes in the dark. Everyone else was asleep in the big dormitory.
"Couldn't sleep. There's a lake, not far. Thought maybe you'd want to go for a swim."
"Right now ?!"
Remus moved a bit and his face was suddendly bathed in the moonlight seeping through the thin curtains. Sirius could see him better. Mostly, he could see his cheeky smile.
"Come on, Sirius, what happened to being a true rebel ?"
He was standing near Sirius' bed, extending a waiting palm towards him. His smile was equal parts sweet and teasing. Mesmerized, Sirius took the offered hand. He hoped the night was hiding his blushing cheeks. As they sneaked out of the building and into the night, they never let go of each other's hand. Sirius thought that maybe, this summer camp wasn't utter bullshit. Maybe it would be really fucking amazing.

smitten — word count: 671
this is my first time posting a microfic, i got randomly inspired, so here it is
@wolfstarmicrofic
Sirius is leaning against the railing, a half smoked cigarette in his hand. Remus doesn't mean to stare, but that's exactly what he's doing. He's staring. He can't be blamed, really. How is he supposed not to stare at the way Sirius lips curl when he blows out the smoke? It's just… well, maybe he is a bit too drunk, maybe he's had a bit too much vodka, cause he suddenly finds it erotic, the way his best friend is taking another drag from the fag he's nicked from him.
Remus is simply too far gone to focus on his own cigarette and stop staring at his best friend like a freak.
Maybe it doesn't matter, maybe Sirius is also too drunk to notice…
“Like what you see, Moony?” Sirius draws out instead.
Well, fuck. Now Remus is fucked. Sirius has noticed. But… he doesn't seem too bothered by it.
Remus just shrugs. He opts to try and act casual, cool, like he meant to stare, not like he just can't help himself because he's too drunk to be careful around his unrequited crush.
“When are you going to do something about it, Moons?” Sirius asks. It sounds like a challenge but it's uttered like a prayer.
His hand rests still against the railing, he seems to have forgotten his fag.
Is Remus making this up or is Sirius actually looking at his lips while he invitingly licks his own?
Oh. Oh, fuck. This is dangerous. It's dangerous and reckless and Remus is terrified at the urge that has overcome him. The urge to take the two steps forward that separate him from Sirius and kiss those inviting lips.
He doesn't even register when his feet start moving, but they do. Cause he's now standing right in front of his devastatingly attractive best friend, so close he can feel the sharp breath Sirius lets out. He feels it on his skin.
And just like that, he leans forward and does the unthinkable. He meets Sirius' lips with his own.
The moment he does it, Sirius kisses him back. He must have dropped his cigarette, cause both of his hands find their way on Remus' body. One in his hair, holding on for dear life, the other on his back. Remus lets go of his own cigarette, both his hands on Sirius' lower back. Their bodies pressed together as they eagerly explore each other’s mouths.
“Fuck,” Sirius blows out, his breath on Remus' lips as they catch their breaths, still not letting go of the other. “Took you long enough.”
“You knew?” Remus asks. Of all the years he's spent longing to do this, harbouring the most hopeless crush on his best friend, being utterly smitten, he never thought Sirius knew. He thought he was careful enough, hiding it thoroughly.
“I wasn't sure, not until tonight—” Sirius says. His hand reaches up to gently, so gently brush against the stubble on Remus' jaw.
“What gave it away?”
Sirius lets out a light chuckle. “You were so rude to Gideon earlier. You're never rude to people.”
Remus closes his eyes, takes a deep breath in. “He— he was completely out of line.” Remus tries to defend himself, weakly.
“Was he?” Sirius challenges, a fond expression all over his features. “He was just flirting, he does it all the time—”
“He was trying to get into your pants!”
“Oh, sweetheart,” Sirius whispers, oh so fondly. The pet name makes Remus insides all warm and fuzzy. “If I had known that was all it'd take to make you jealous, I would've flirted back at Gideon ages ago.”
Remus leans forward, his forehead resting against Sirius’. He takes a deep breath in and he enjoys the moment, he enjoys the incredible feeling of his crush not being unrequited, of Sirius being right there, wanting him too.
“Please, don't ever do that again,” Remus pleads.
“I promise,” Sirius says.
Remus lets out a breath. “Can we go back to our flat now?”

Wolfstar kiss head cannon
As we all know, history of Magic is the most boring class at Hogwarts so Sirius never pays any attention (except on full moons so he can take notes for Remus)
He usually spends his time in class styling his hair; like french braiding, etc. When he's finished whatever style he has done he will turn to Remus and ask him how it looks
In the beginning Remus tries to ignore Sirius but soon he's giving Sirius whispered compliments and feedback.
Pretty soon he's even giving Sirius directions when Sirius is doing his hair because he doesn't have a mirror
After a while Sirius starts to wonder why Remus puts up with his constant interruptions to class when he's normally so serious about his studies
But what Sirius doesn't know is that Remus finds Sirius playing with his hair is extremely attractive (although he finds everything Sirius does extremely attractive) though he would never say that to Sirius and risk ruining their friendship
What Remus doesn't know is that Sirius' hairstyling might not be entirely boredom, its also a bit of a ploy for Remus' attention because Sirius is also super into Remus
And so one day Sirius has done his hair up in this beautiful braided look and turns to show Remus except Remus is already staring at him and both boys start blushing
Then Remus notices that a strand of Sirius' hair has come loose so he reaches out and tucks it behind his ear without thinking
Now both boys are blushing hard and Remus is still holding Sirius' face in his hand
And neither boy is sure who makes the first move but suddenly they're full on making out in the middle of history of magic
They're only broken apart by James whistling and grinning like a lunatic which finally gets professor Binns' attention.
Sirius and Remus get detention for a week for disturbing the class but it's totally worth it.

The Only Exception
Hello again <3
I’ve got a tight grip on reality but I can't Let go of what’s in front of me here I know you’re leaving in the morning when you wake up Leave me with some kind of proof it’s not a dream.
“Your final exam is tomorrow, right Re?”
Sirius watched Remus look over to James from his perch on the common room windowsill. “Yeah,” He sighed. “I can’t believe you lot are already finished; someone remind me why I took ancient runes?”
Peter snorted; half bent over a table next to him as he studied the chessboard. James, seated across from him, was smirking as he bit into a chocolate frog, already secure in his victory. “Hell if I know.” Peter grumbled before advancing a pawn. James immediately struck, claiming one of Peter’s knights and Peter cursed.
Sirius watched in amusement as he painted his nails, boots resting brazenly on the same low table. Remus was flicking though a textbook, pages of notes strewn around him. Sirius knew that if he were to go upstairs, he would find Remus’ bed in a similar state – half buried in parchment. James whooped as he moved his queen. “Checkmate.” He declared gleefully, standing up and stretching as Peter groaned. “Right lads,” James said, looking at Remus and Sirius. “Who’s next to face the champion?”
Sirius was going to decline, but before he could, Peter piped in, demanding a rematch. Sirius finished with his nails and screwed the lid back on the little black bottle, while Remus carefully extracted himself from his seat. Sirius watched him unfold his long legs out from under himself and gingerly gather his papers together. “I’m gonna head to bed.” The tall boy mumbled. “Gotta get up early and all that.”
James and Peter looked up from their squabbling. “Night Moony!” Peter chimed. “Good luck in the morning, you’ll do great.”
“And even if you fuck it up,” James added, “You’ll be free for the summer.” Remus rolled his eyes, but ruffled James’ hair affectionately and nabbed another chocolate frog off his friend, James didn’t even notice, eyes already back on the chessboard. Sirius watched out of the corner of his eye as Remus ascended the stairs, watched for much longer than it had taken for Remus to disappear from view. He studied his nails, turning slowly from a light sheen to a more matte look as the paint dried. He waited as Peter lost once more, but felt so confident about his next victory, he started placing bets. Waited as James accepted those terms and the chessboard was set up again. And then, sick of waiting, Sirius stood up. “I’m off boys.” He announced, and head them say their goodnights, already walking away.
Sirius frowned as he found Remus’ bed empty. Empty and as Sirius had predicted, covered in parchment. He heard the hiss of the shower, and tugged off his robes, shrugging on a hoodie and a tracksuit pants, then padded over to Remus’ bed and carefully, so carefully, began tidying the notes.
See the thing was, Sirius was completely and utterly in love with his best friend. It was all rather inconvenient really. Sirius couldn’t count the number of detentions he got for being distracted when his thoughts had wandered to Remus. His productivity had dropped dramatically, Sirius remembered the days where he would spend all his free time plotting the next round of marauders signature mischief. Last week he had nearly spilled dragon’s blood all down himself in potions when Remus had moved past him, accidentally grazing his hand on Sirius’ waist as he passed. Sirius had a tight grip on reality, and yet couldn’t seem to let go of what was in front of him.
“Pads?”
Sirius turned to see Remus standing in the doorway, hair wet, towel strung around his hips. Sirius’ heart stopped for a moment, and he tried so hard to stop his traitorous eyes from focusing on the dip of Remus’ hips. He looked higher, and found they snagged on the other boy’s lips instead. Another mistake. “Just thought you might want to be able to see your bed.” Sirius teased, hoping his voice came out even.
Remus smiled gratefully and started pulling clothes out of his mostly packed trunk. They would all be leaving tomorrow afternoon for the summer. James and Sirius to the Potters, with the promise of Peter and Remus coming to visit next month. Sirius kept his eyes down and focused on the task at hand, looking up when a scarred hand joined his, sorting and collecting papers.
“I can finish up.” Remus murmured. “You can head to bed if you want.” Remus bore pants similar to Sirius’, but he wore a soft brown jumper, the cuffs frayed on the sleeves. Sirius recognised it as Remus’ favourite.
Sirius smiled, slow and soft. “Nah I can’t I’m too invested now. Gotta make sure all the red tabs end up together, don’t I.”
Remus shot him a grin and Sirius wondered if he should get himself checked out by Madam Pomfrey. Hearts shouldn’t flutter as much as his did, he was sure. “I’m going to miss you, you know.” Remus said casually, his voice slightly softer than it had been before. Sirius swallowed. “Well yes, I should hope that you will, given that I am incredibly witty, gorgeous, talented… need I go on?” Sirius joked. “Anyone who wouldn’t miss me is out of their mind.”
Remus shook his head, a smile on his face, then took the papers from Sirius’ hands, setting them atop his closed trunk, his bed now clear. Sirius fiddled with the ring around his thumb, taking a step back.
“I guess I should leave you to it.”
Long fingers wrapped around his wrist, and Sirius finally allowed himself look into those gorgeous amber eyes.
“Stay.” Remus whispered, his hand light, but his words heavy. Sirius’ heart clattered in his chest, his throat tight. So, he just nodded, wordlessly climbing into bed next to his friend. Remus drew the curtains with a wandless charm, and something stirred in Sirius’ stomach. Merlin, he loved when Remus did that.
They lay on their backs, staring at the ceiling. Sirius let his head fall to the side, taking Remus in. The curls that were getting quite long, falling over his forehead and nearly into his eyes. His eyelashes, long and swoopy, the white scar that mapped his face, leading to the clean cut of his jaw. Sirius let his eyes wander more south, looking at their hands, next to each other on the covers, millimetres apart. When he looked back up, Remus was gazing at him.
Sirius’ breathing hitched as Remus’ eyes dropped from his own, down to his lips, before returning back up. Soft, slightly callused fingers caressed Sirius’ cheek and Sirius felt his eyes close. This was a dream. Surely.
“Pads,” Remus whispered, barely audible, thumb stroking Sirius’ cheekbone. “Is this okay?”
Sirius’ eyes flew open. “Kiss me.” He said, brash and brazen and bold.
He saw Remus inhale, watched those honeyed eyes flicker. “God Sirius.” He breathed, before pressing their lips together.
It was soft at first, as if Remus was still waiting for Sirius to change his mind. Sirius thought that perhaps he might be losing it instead. He was going to be committed surely because there was no way this was happening, that it was Remus’ lips against his own. But when Sirius leaned into it, when he threaded his fingers through curly hair and felt Remus gasp against his own lips, he knew it had to be real. He had quite the imagination, but it could never have invented something as wonderfully detailed as this.
They kissed for what could have been minutes or hours or days. All Sirius knew was that he was perfectly content to do it for the rest of his life. When they pulled away, breathless and legs tangled under the sheets, Sirius smiled smugly at the puffy red of Remus’ mouth. He had done that. Sirius leaned forward, and pressed a small, chaste kiss to Remus’ lips once more. Remus let him.
“Well, that’s new.” Sirius muttered, mostly to himself but Remus burst out laughing.
“We can make it a regular thing if you want,” he said to Sirius, eyes glinting.
“If I want?” Sirius sputtered, rising to the bait. “Of course, I fucking want, you absolute twat. I’ve been in love with you for years and you have the nerve to insinuate I wouldn’t want that.”
Remus’ laughing stopped and the smile slid from his face. Fuck. Did Sirius already screw this up. For the love of Merlin, he was going to have to learn to shut his mouth.
“What?” Remus breathed and Sirius steadied himself, shuffling impossibly closer to press their foreheads together, his hand cupping Remus’ face. He hadn’t meant to just blurt it out, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t true.
“I love you. I'm in love with you.” He said, smiling softly, feeling impossibly free. “Have been for years.”
Remus’ arm tightened around Sirius’ waist. He kissed him, a smooth slide of their lips, Remus tugging gently on Sirius’ bottom lip with his teeth. His hand pressed firmly into Sirius as he dragged it up and down his back, the curve of his waist.
“I love you too.” He said, as he pulled away. “For years.” He added as Sirius let out a sound of disbelief. “And currently wishing I had the balls to do this ages ago.”
Sirius laughed, hitting Remus’ shoulder playfully. “You and me both.”
“I’ll see you over the summer yeah?” Remus confirmed, even though the plan was set in stone. They would see each other tomorrow, but Remus would probably be gone to his exam before Sirius awoke. And after that, they would be with the others all day and for the entirety of the train ride. This was probably the last time Sirius would have Remus alone for weeks.
“Yeah,” Sirius agreed, pressing his face into the other boy’s neck and breathing in deep. “Yeah, and then we have all next year.”
“You’d better owl me.” Remus warned, and Sirius hummed. “Of course, Moony. Right back at you.”
Sirius felt Remus’ breaths slow and grow deeper and knew he was close to falling asleep. He could hear the muffled sounds of James and Peter coming in, getting ready for bed. If they showed any surprise at Sirius' open curtains, his empty bed, Sirius couldn't detect it.
“Moony?”
“Mhm?”
“I know you’re leaving in the morning when you wake up,” Sirius said, slipping his fingers beneath Remus’ jumper and finding soft warm skin. “But maybe leave me with some kind of proof it’s not a dream?”
He knew Remus was smiling. Knew from the tone of his voice, the way his fingers twined in Sirius’ hair.
“Of course.” He acquiesced and finally, Sirius let himself drift into sleep, safely wrapped in Remus’ arms.
In the morning, he awoke alone, the bed cold next to him. His heart dropped for a second, until he noticed a familiar brown jumper folded neatly on the sheets.
“Definitely not a dream.” A piece of parchment atop it read. “Love, R.”
Sirius smiled a face splitting grin as he tugged off his own top and pulled the jumper over his head, Remus’ scent nestling around him. Clutching the note to his chest, Sirius lay down again and fell back to sleep.
This was going to be the best summer yet.

Dec 21. Prompt: Eggnog. Word count: 82. @wolfstarmicrofic
“Ew Remus, what is that?”
“It’s eggnog.”
“There’s EGGS in here? Then why does it taste like bubblegum?”
“It…doesn’t?” Remus is now laughing.
“Yes it does. It’s disgusting.”
“Alright, alright, you don’t have to drink it. Gimme. I’ll go get you an actual cocktail.”
Remus comes back a few minutes later and hands a Cosmopolitan to his husband. He leans down to kiss him when Sirius slaps his whole palm on his mouth.
“Uh uh, I’m not kissing you with eggnog breath.”

Moony in your eyes
wolfstar oneshot / rating: teen and up / hogwarts era / fluff
_______________________________________________
It was quiet between them for a while. It was like that, sometimes, with Remus. He didn’t need to speak when there was nothing to be said. He always knew exactly when to talk, and exactly when to laugh, and exactly when to be thoughtful. Sirius was not so keen on silences, but would let them linger between them, just to see how far he could go without feeling uncomfortable around Remus.
Their silences would always last a long time if he did so, he found.
Remus made him feel safe.
The spliff was nearly done. Sirius glanced around. The music had changed from vibrant to more subdued, and the fire was out.
Remus’ voice rose next to him. "You’re awfully quiet tonight."
Sirius' cheeks flushed instantly. "Oh, am I? Sorry," he said, fidgeting with the lighter.
Remus snorted. "I was being sarcastic. You’ve never been more talkative, really."
Sirius stiffened slightly. He rolled the spliff between his fingers, pressing gently. "I was just thinking."
Remus tilted his head towards him. "About what?"
"Just-" Sirius swallowed, glanced around. "Do you want to go smoke the rest of this elsewhere? It’s a bit hot in here." He turned to Remus, to see his face change. To see what his eyes said.
Remus was already looking right at him. His lips were curled up into a small smile. His eyes were smiling too, and were now dark and blown out in the dim lighting. "Yeah, let's go."
So, they did.

@wolfstarmicrofic Just Fluff, Remus waiting for that first kiss.
13th: Magical
The right moment matters less when it's the right person. Which is a good thing, since Sirius is expertly ruining the moment.
When It's Right
Lily looks up from her essay as Sirius and Remus enter the common room. Sirius is laughing, Remus looks rather miffed.
“You never guess what sharp observation Moony just made.” Sirius grins, as he sits down on the other couch.
Lily puts down her quill, glances at Remus, who’s staring pointedly at his shoes, and then looks at Sirius questioningly.
“We were on top of the Astronomy Tower,” Sirius says. “Looking out over the Hogwarts grounds, and Remus goes and says ‘it’s just magical’. Like, really, Moony? A magical castle, that serves as a magical school, where they learn how to perform magic, and you have noticed it’s magical?”
Sirius starts to laugh again, and Remus raises his head to glare at him, his cheeks flushed. “Yes, well, excuse me for making such an evidently pointless statement. The way you started laughing at me already made that perfectly clear, thank you. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to bed.”
“Moony...” Sirius says, but Remus already stomps off, and up the stairs to their dorm.
Lily crosses het arms over her chest. “You, Sirius Black, are a massive plonker!”
Sirius blinks. “I just thought it was a silly thing to say! Wasn’t trying to be mean or anything.”
Lily sighs. “These last weeks Remus has been talking a lot about having his first kiss.”
Sirius’ cheeks turn red. “W-what d-does that have to do with m-me?” He splutters.
“It carries a lot of weight for Remus,” Lily says calmly. “He wants it to be right, and he’s been constantly saying that, when it happens, he wants the moment to be ‘just magical’.”
Sirius stares at her wide-eyed. “Are... Are you saying you think Remus wanted me to kiss him back there?!”
“It’s no coincidence he used that exact phrasing in that moment. He must’ve thought that was it, that moment he had been waiting for.” Lily shrugs. “Well, at least until you started laughing at him.”
Sirius looks horrified for a moment. Then he groans and hides his face in his hands. “Merlin, I’m such a bloody pillock!”
“Moony?”
Remus, lying with his face pressed against his pillow, doesn’t look up when Sirius gingerly sits down at the foot of his bed. “What do you want, Sirius?”
“Were...” Sirius begins hesitantly. “Were you hoping, just now up the Astronomy Tower, for me to kiss you?”
“Don’t worry,” Remus says. “You’ve made it perfectly clear how ridiculous that idea was.”
“No!” Sirius exclaims. “No, I didn’t realise that was what it was! I wasn’t thinking any further than the whole ‘magical castle being magical’-thing sounding funny... If I had realised, I definitely wouldn’t have laughed.”
Remus pushes himself up and looks at Sirius. “What would you have done then?” He asks in a small voice.
“Well, hopefully, I would’ve swept you off of your feet and kissed you breathless,” Sirius says. “Realistically, though, I would’ve swooned and you would’ve needed to pick me up from the floor, or I would’ve gotten nervous and panicked, kind of like I’m doing now, and you would’ve been laughing at me instead-” Remus starts to laugh “-kind of like you’re doing now.”
Remus reaches out to take Sirius’ hand, and pulls him closer. “Come here, you daft git.”
Sirius wraps his arms around Remus’ neck, as Remus wraps his arms around Sirius’ waist.
Sirius glances around the messy dorm. “This isn’t exactly the magical moment you were hoping for.”
Remus shrugs. “Maybe I’ve learned that the right moment matters less when it’s the right person.”
So Sirius swoons. Remus has to quickly tighten his grip on his waist to keep him upright.
“Panicking and swooning,” Sirius mutters. “You really had to have both?”
Remus laughs again. Then he leans his forehead gently against Sirius’. “Thank you for making me feel better.”
“I like seeing you laugh,” Sirius says sincerely. “I never want to be the reason you’re upset.”
Remus gives him a soft smile. “At least you’re always the one who can cheer me up.”
Sirius returns the smile. “Maybe next time I can cheer you up like this.” And he leans in.

The universe
(Sirius Black / Remus Lupin | 1 264 words)
Written for Sirius’ birthday <3
Everyone in Hogwarts knew what the date today was. 3rd of November. That only means one thing- the birthday of one and only Sirius Orion Black. Every year the Marauders made sure to do something special on this day. This year they charmed every statue to bow when Sirius walked around them and wished him happy birthday. All thanks to Peter’s idea, Remus’ research and James’ spell work. What didn’t change every year was a party in the Gryffindor Tower. It became famous over the years and students from other houses wanted to attend. It was more work to accommodate all of the people, but fortunately, professors looked the other way for one night and let it slip, as long as their silencing charms worked and underaged students did not drink alcohol.
Remus was watching his friend shining in the middle of the crowd, laughing loudly and just being the centre of attention. Someone would call him a star as his name suggested. But not Remus. Because a star is not enough to capture Sirius. No, Sirius is not just bright and warm. He has his dark cold parts which no one bothers to look at. Meteors are parts of broken planets that others consider waste, but they couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s evidence of the history the universe went through. Things that are broken to make something new. To never stop evolving. He is all the chaos that you can’t believe can work together, but it all works in harmony.
No, Sirius is not a star. For Remus, he is the universe. With all the darkness and light, the broken pieces and beautiful constellation patterns, all the noise of creation and silence of emptiness. He surrounds Remus with his infinity. Is it even possible to not love the universe in all its glory? Remus never tried. He never wanted to. It felt like he was destined to fall in love with him. But Remus is not stupid or naïve enough to expect the universe to love him back. No, but he is lucky enough to witness from his distant corner the life itself as Sirius dances and talks and shares little mischief glances with James and periodically looks in his direction to check Remus is still standing there.
It's hours later when Remus comes back from the restroom and can’t find the birthday boy anywhere in the middle of the crowd. He waits a little longer but when his friend doesn’t show up, he makes his way upstairs. He peeks in their dorm, but it’s empty. His gaze lands on the cracked open window at the very back at the end of the corridor.
The rooftop is drowned in the darkness of the night but a little bit to the left perched on the small spot is sitting Sirius, his head tilted to the sky his legs firmly tugged underneath him.
“Pads?” Remus asks tearing the boy from his thoughts. Sirius quickly turns to him and as soon as his eyes lie on Remus his startled expression changes to smile. “Is everything alright? Why are you not at the party?” Remus continues.
“I just wanted to be alone for a moment,” Sirius explains as he gestures to the empty space in front of him and Remus mentally kicks himself for intruding.
“Oh, sorry. I’m gonna leave you to it, then.” Remus is ready to close the window when Sirius calls for him again.
“No, join me?”
“But you wanted to be alone.”
“I can be alone and with you,” Sirius explains and adds when Remus doesn’t make the move to climb out of the window. “Please? I like having you around.”
Remus climbs to the small roof spot and sits beside his friend. The spot is not too big, so they are sitting pressed against each other. Remus is aware of every inch of his body that is touching Sirius. He takes out a pack of cigarettes and offers it to his friend. “I’m gonna share one with you, Moons.”
They smoke and Sirius has once again the distant look in his eyes. Remus is sure he is losing his mind because he is convinced that every time Sirius takes the cigarette from him, his gaze lingers on him a little longer, and the brush of their fingers is a little slower.
Sirius takes a long drag from the cigarette and tilts his head as he blows the smoke out. “Sometimes I think I don’t deserve any of this,” Sirius whispers suddenly. A secret shared under the cloak of the night. “All of the people who came here today, all of whom talked to me, don't really know me. If they did, they wouldn't bother with me.”
Remus thinks how utterly wrong Sirius is. They might not truly know Sirius. He hides parts of himself too well only offering the perfectly polished parts. But that’s their loss. Because as much as Remus loves the outgoing happy part of Sirius, he also loves all of the other parts. He doesn’t love Sirius despite them, but because of them.
“I know you,” Remus says and waits for Sirius to agree with that statement. “And I don’t see anything I don’t like.” Remus can’t make out what the look on Sirius’ face means. He caught a glimpse of surprise, a soft smile and sadness.
“You say you don’t deserve anything? I say you deserve everything you want. Name it and I will get it for you. It’s that easy.” The moment Remus says this he realises that he might be drunk. He wouldn’t say this sober. He is not bold enough to speak the truth.
Sirius’ gaze is searching Remus’ face and Remus could swear he stares at his lips longer than friends would. “That easy, Moons?” Sirius asks his voice deep as he wraps his lips around every syllable. Remus holds his breath and nods slowly burning under Sirius’ gaze.
“What if the thing I want is someone. Someone who is too good for me, who I’m sure deserves everything in the world and I’m not sure I can manage to give it to them.”
Remus lowers his gaze refusing to let the sadness show in his face. But that’s how it goes, the universe will fall in love with someone else and Remus will watch. “They would be lucky to have you. Anyone would be lucky to have you and that is everything.”
There is a long pause when everything stays still. The coldness of the air surrounding Remus is breached by a hot hand on his cheek urging him to look up. He sucks a sharp breath as he looks into Sirius’ face. “All I have to do is ask, you said. Okay. So, this is me. Asking. For the one person I want.”
For a moment Remus can’t comprehend that Sirius means him. It doesn’t feel real. It can’t be real. But Sirius is still looking at him, his hand still cupping Remus’ chin. He nods slowly afraid he would somehow ruin the moment if he moved too quickly. But Sirius is moving towards him, and Remus can feel his hot breath on his lips right before Sirius kisses him.
Remus is sure this is how the Big Bang felt like. Everything packed in a single shiny moment. Everything that ever was and ever will be captured at the touch of their lips. Because kissing Sirius is like touching the universe itself. Glorious and infinite. They are the centre of the world right there on the roof of Grifindoor Tower.

Regulus kisses James for the first time.
‘You’re so fucking infuriating.’
And then, I was kissing him. I hated how much I reveled in the way his breath caught, how I marveled at the feeling of his soft lips responding maddeningly to mine. Of course, kissing him would also feel extraordinary. That was the way James Potter existed, always exceeding the highest of expectations. I had my own share of experiences, hidden behind enchanted curtains and hasty in the darkness, but that. That didn’t feel like a simple teenage kiss. Mouths weren’t crashing against each other, hands weren’t tripping and itching over clothes with mere eagerness. It felt so stupidly cathartic that it could have been spiritual. An out-of-body experience. James’s lips were clean devotion. I could’ve laughed at that absurd intensity, but I was too lost in the sublimity of it all. And then his hands were brushing through my hair, in this slow motion that made me feel like he’d been doing it forever, stretching the moment to infinity. When he twisted his tongue into the heat of my mouth I let out a helpless whine, feeling my own fingers slide along his strong jaw, dipping onto the beautiful line of shoulders. I let them trail back up, into the mess of curls and tugged. He gasped. It felt like discovering gold light after years of coal darkness.
And I thought, in awe, what an achievement to make him gasp. Such wonders hidden in the soft line of his lips.
The way James was kissing me was consuming. It felt feverish, but his every touch was torturously deliberate. As if there was no rush, he had all the time in the world to explore every inch of me. I could do nothing but retaliate, in this simmering, dense sweetness that was slowly coating us, soaking and sticking everywhere. I knew then that it would hunt me forever, every other kiss with anyone else was ruined already.
At the touch, he felt reliable. As if the lean line of his body and the way his fingers brushed over every inch of my skin could never betray me. Like the veneration of his caresses was the proof of this thing happening cosmically and continuously.
Words could lie, but his hands didn’t know how to.

Remus’ quiet Sunday morning Tea&Reading is interrupted by yet another loud groan. He sighs, notes his page absently and closes his book. Just accept your fate.
“Yes, Sirius? Did you want to moan a bit louder?”
“Don’t tease, Moony. I’m afflicted.”
Remus raises a familiar eyebrow, “Afflicted?.”
“Yes,” Sirius replies, pouting, “Quite.”
“Have you been reading a thesaurus again?”
Sirius moans again, “That was one time, and it was for you, you wanker.”
“For me,” Remus scoffs, pointedly ignoring the very present tug in his chest at the thought. “It was for a laugh.”
“It wasn’t!” Sirius sits up, sounding less moan-y and more whiny now.
“I meant everything in that letter.”
“Pads let it go, I’m serious.”
Sirius grins, sits up straighter, “No I—“
“If you finish that sentence so help me Godric Gryffindor I will hex you into bloody next week.”
“Ok, Merlin, calm down.”
Now Remus groans, “Pads.”
But Sirius is already wincing, “Sorry, sorry, I know, no ‘calm down’s, sorry I slipped.” He actually seemed quite genuine which unfortunately warmed Remus’s heart quite a lot.
“S’ok.” Remus says, “Alright, what’s afflicting you then?”
Sirius sits up and suddenly looks quite unsure. “Well, you know how usually I’m quite good at getting people to like me.”
Remus rolls his eyes but does let through a small smile, “Sure, you fucking tosser.”
Sirius grins, “I am!”
Remus rolls his eyes again but the small smile grows just a little.
“Anyway, usually everyone loves me,” another eye roll, “But I can figure out how to get this one person to like me. Someone I like quite a lot, actually.”
Remus smile dims a little but he tries not to let it show. Takes a breath, “Ok, well why not?”
“That’s just it, I don’t know. I’ve tried everything, I thought.” Remus eyes’ roll at the dramatics but Sirius ignores him. “I’m feeling a bit uninspired.”
“Padfoot, honestly I don’t know who this person is but they must be an idiot if they don’t like you. And! I’m sure they do.”
“Uh uh, honest, they just seem a bit—exasperated?”
“Bloody thesaurus,” Remus mutters.
“It’s not! I know words! That’s not even a weird one!”
“Sure. Alright, let’s see if we can get a little inspiration. Do I know them?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“I do?” Huh, I feel like I would’ve noticed Sirius liking someone, especially if they didn’t like him back.
“Yep.”
“Oookay, and you think they don’t like you because they’re—exasperated?”
“Yeah, just sort of, like I don’t know, like I’m not good enough for them. Which I’m not, by the way—“
“Hey. Do not.” Remus is already standing and walking to Sirius, hands cupping his cheeks. “Look any idiot that makes you feel like you’re not good enough is not worth it.”
“No no, they don’t!” and Sirius’ cheeks are really looking quite red under Remus’ careful palms.
“It’s not them, they’re perfect and lovely and it’s just that I’m well, I don’t know…”
“Sirius, you’re perfect. And lovely. Honest.” He’s really really trying to ignore the now very painful pressure on his chest, who the hell is this idiot?
“Don’t say that,” Sirius mumbles, head down. But—is he pushing into Remus’ hands? Just a little?
“No, I won’t stop. You are. Anyone would be more than lucky to have you.”
“Anyone?” Sirius says, all small and quiet, looking up at Remus now with big eyes.
Now Remus’ breath catches. And—could this be—no. “Anyone?” He now questions, not sure if it’ll be clear, what he’s asking.
“I mean, not anyone, not anyone. The one?”
And now Remus is confused. The grammar has stopped making sense but Sirius’ face is clear and this has to be—but it can’t be—but
“Sirius…”
“Re…”
“Pads…”
Sirius smiles, “Moons.”
“You’re serious?”
Sirius opens his mouth and that bloody stupid joke won’t do, so Remus shuts him up and wow that actually worked. and Sirius is kissing him back and everything is ok.
And James is whooping. Wait, no that can’t be right, they’re alone. But not that is definitely James and that’s definitely Peter shushing him, pulling him back. “Bloody hell Prongs, shut up.” And Remus hears it and so does Sirius because Sirius is smiling against his lips. (Against his lips!!) So they pull away and Sirius pulls him in, face against Remus’ stomach. So Remus just has to bury his fingers in his hair which he always wants to do but somehow forgot about when they were kissing. (What do you mean somehow, he forgot about everything. They were kissing!!)
He looks over at Peter struggling to get James out and shooting a very apologetic but also very amused expression towards Remus. Remus grins.
“It worked?” James shouts.
Now Remus is confused.
“Shut up, Prongs.” That’s Sirius, a little muffled because the side of his face is still pushed up against Remus.
“What?”
And he doesn’t really have to wait because James never could keep his mouth shut when it came to them four. “My inspiration!” He said conspiratorially, grinning and clapping his hands together.
“Inspiration, huh?” Remus smiles down at Sirius who has now positively buried his whole face into Remus. The groaning is back.
“James,” Peter admonishes, but it’s still amused. Peter is sweet that way.
“I’m helping!”
“Go away!” Sirius moans.
Remus is grinning wider than he thinks he ever has. smooths Sirius’ hair back lets him stay where he is, it’s really quite comfortable actually. Sirius’ arms are wrapped tight around his waist and his knees bracket Remus’. Remus is actually quite sure he’s never been so content. Idiot.
