โœงใƒปใ‚œ: โœงhow i use pinterest intentionally (not just endless scrolling) :ใƒปใ‚œโœง:ใƒปใ‚œโœง
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hey lovelies! โœจ
confession time: i used to be a chronic pinterest scroller with absolutely nothing to show for my hours spent in the app. i'd save hundreds of pins to boards with vague names like "aesthetic" and "vibes," never to look at them again. sound familiar? but over the past year, i've completely transformed how i use pinterest from mindless consumption to an intentional tool that actually enhances my life. here's exactly how i made the shift!
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ the pinterest mindset shift ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
the game-changer for me was realizing that pinterest isn't just for collecting pretty pictures, it's a visual search engine and planning tool. now i approach it with purpose:
i ask myself "why am i opening this app right now?" before i even click the icon or enter it into the search bar
i set specific time limits for browsing (15-30 minutes max)
i focus on quality over quantity with my pins
i treat my boards as action plans, not just digital hoarding spaces
i regularly revisit and implement ideas from my boards
this shift transformed pinterest from a time-waster to one of my most valuable tools for planning, creativity, and personal growth.
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ my board organization system ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
the foundation of intentional pinterest use is thoughtful organization! here's my current system:
๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ด: i group my boards into categories using board covers in the same color palette (lifestyle, home, fashion, etc.)
๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ฃ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ: instead of vague names, i use specific titles like "meals for busy weeknights" or "bedroom refresh ideas 2025"
๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด: i break down larger boards into sections (my "morning routine" board has sections for drinks, movement, journaling, etc.)
๐˜ฑ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ ๐˜ท๐˜ด. ๐˜ฑ๐˜ถ๐˜ฃ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ค: i keep boards private when they're in planning stages, then make them public once they're curated
๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ: i archive boards that aren't currently relevant (like christmas decor in july) to reduce visual clutter
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ my favorite intentional board types ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
here are the board categories that have added genuine value to my life:
๐˜ฑ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ซ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ต-๐˜ด๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ช๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ค ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด: whenever i start a new project (room redecoration, event planning, etc.), i create a dedicated board with sections for different aspects
๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด: i create a fresh board each season with sections for recipes, activities, outfits, and decor i want to incorporate
๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ฑ๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ: i pin actual items i own alongside new pieces i'm considering to visualize combinations
๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ด๐˜บ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ: i maintain boards for different meal categories and actually reference them when making grocery lists
๐˜จ๐˜ช๐˜ง๐˜ต ๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ด: i have a board for each important person in my life where i pin potential gifts year-round
๐˜จ๐˜ฐ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ป๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ: i create boards for specific goals with both inspiration and actionable steps
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ my pinterest workflow ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
this is my personal step-by-step process for intentional pinning:
๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ต ๐˜ข ๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ณ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ: i decide what specific question i'm trying to answer or problem i'm trying to solve
๐˜ค๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜บ: i use specific search terms rather than browsing the home feed (which is designed for endless scrolling)
๐˜ค๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ง๐˜ถ๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜บ: i only save pins that: โ€ข provide clear value or inspiration โ€ข lead to actual content (not dead links) โ€ข represent ideas i genuinely might implement
๐˜ข๐˜ฅ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ด: i write specific notes on pins about why i saved them or how i plan to use the idea
๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ฑ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ: after a pinning session, i schedule time to actually try one of the ideas
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ from virtual to reality ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
the most important part of intentional pinterest use is implementation! here's how i ensure my pins actually translate to real life:
๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฌ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ธ: every sunday, i spend 10 minutes reviewing recent pins and selecting 1-3 to implement that week
๐˜ฑ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ-๐˜ต๐˜ฐ-๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ต๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ฌ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ: i keep a simple journal noting which pins i've actually implemented
๐˜ฑ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฐ๐˜ค๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ: i take photos of my real-life versions of pinterest inspiration
๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜บ ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ฌ๐˜ด: i regularly ask "do i have the time/budget/skills for this?" before saving aspirational pins
๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ต: i remove pins that no longer feel aligned with my taste or goals
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ advanced pinterest strategies ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
once you've mastered the basics, these strategies take intentional pinning to the next level! i hope you all enjoy them!:
๐˜จ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ฑ ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด: i create collaborative boards with friends for shared projects or trips
๐˜ฑ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ฑ๐˜ฑ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ: for complex projects, i create flow charts showing how different pins connect to each other
๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข ๐˜ฆ๐˜ท๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด: i document my own progress by pinning "before" and "after" images of my projects
๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ข๐˜ณ: i use pinterest to plan content themes for my blog and social media (i of course also use pinterest for images for my blog)
๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜บ๐˜ด: i create sequential boards that build skills in a particular area
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ final thoughts ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
pinterest is whatever you make of it, it can be a mindless scroll hole or one of the most powerful tools for intentional living and creativity. the difference lies entirely in how you approach it.
i still enjoy the occasional aimless browsing session (we all need that sometimes!), but transforming most of my pinterest time into purposeful searching and planning has genuinely enhanced my life. my spaces are more cohesve, my wardrobe more intentional, and my creative projects more focused, all because i stopped treating pinterest like social media and started using it like the powerful visual tool it truly is.
how do you use pinterest? are you a careful curator or a joyful browser? feel free to drop your thoughts in the notes!
xoxo, mindy ๐Ÿค

What Have You Been Putting Off? Breaking the Cycle of Procrastination
Letโ€™s be honestโ€”weโ€™ve all been there. That nagging task youโ€™ve been avoiding, the project gathering dust, or that simple phone call you just canโ€™t seem to make. You tell yourself, โ€œIโ€™ll do it tomorrow,โ€ but tomorrow turns into next week, and next week into next month. Before you know it, the weight of unfinished tasks starts to feel overwhelming. But why do we procrastinate, and moreโ€ฆ

hey mindy mindy its me again (after that chaotic love poem lmaolmao) mwah mwah can u do like a notion guide post ?? like what would be helpful to add and also how you set yours up?? that would be so so helpful ilyily have the best day and sleep tight mwah mwah kiss kiss love xoxo, emily
hey emily! โœง
omg hi again!! (the love poem chaos was iconic btw, never apologize for that) you truly are my biggest fan (and i'm yours <3)
โœงใƒปใ‚œ: my notion setup: organized chaos but make it cute :ใƒปใ‚œโœง:ใƒปใ‚œโœง
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so you asked about my notion setup and i'm soo excited to share because i've gone through approximately 500 iterations before finding what actually works for me! and by "works" i mean i've stuck with it for more than 3 weeks which is honestly a personal record.
the thing with notion is that it's so customizable it can be overwhelming?? like, i spent more time watching "perfect aesthetic notion tour" videos than actually using the app for the first month. classic me behavior.
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ getting started (without spiraling) ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
first things first - don't try to set up your entire life system at once! i made this mistake and abandoned notion for 2 months because it felt too overwhelming.
start with ONE area that's currently chaotic in your life. for me it was school assignments because i kept forgetting deadlines until 11pm the night before (and then panicking while eating peanut butter straight from the jarโ€ฆ not recommended).
my biggest tip is to not get caught up in making it pretty right away. i know that's like, counterintuitive coming from me, but functionality first, then we make it cute!
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ my actual setup ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
homepage: i have a super simple homepage with links to my main dashboards (school, blog, personal) and a little daily quote that changes. also a tiny photo of my cat judging me for motivation.
school dashboard: this is my most used section! i have a calendar view of assignments, a database of all my classes with linked notes, and reading tracker. the best part is the assignment database where i can filter by due date and subject.
blog dashboard: where i keep all my post ideas (like this one!), content calendar, and stats tracking. i also have a section for brands i want to work with someday (manifesting!).
personal dashboard: this has my habit tracker, journal prompts, and goals. i also keep recipes here because i was tired of screenshots getting lost in my camera roll.
reading nook: where i track books i've read/want to read with little ratings and notes. sometimes i write embarrassingly emotional reactions to plot twists that no one else will ever see.
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ the actually helpful stuff ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
okay so beyond the basic setup, here are things that have made notion actually useful for me:
templates!! i have templates for everything - blog posts, class notes, weekly planning. it saves so much time not starting from scratch.
linked databases are literally magic. i can have the same information show up in different places filtered different ways. like my assignments appear on my homepage as "due this week" but in my school dashboard i can see everything.
embeds are underrated. i embed my spotify playlists, google calendar, and pinterest boards so everything's in one place.
toggle lists for anything lengthy. they keep things looking clean but you can expand when needed.
color coding that actually means something. i used to just pick pretty colors but now each color has a purpose (red = urgent, blue = school, pink = blog, etc).
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ making it pretty (because we still care) ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
once the functionality is working, THEN we make it cute:
i use a consistent color palette across all pages (mostly soft pinks, lavender, and sage green)
custom icons for each page (there are free packs online or you can use emojis)
cover images that are cohesive (i use pinterest)
font consistency! i stick with the same headings and text styles
little decorative dividers between sections (just search "aesthetic dividers" and you'll find tons)
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ my honest thoughts ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
the truth is my notion isn't instagram-perfect all the time. some sections get messy when life gets busy, and that's fine! the beauty of it is you can always clean it up later.
the pages i actually use daily are pretty simple. it's the ones i rarely visit that look the most aesthetic (because they're not battle-tested with real life, lol).
start simple, find what actually helps you, and then make it pretty enough that you want to use it. that's the real secret!
let me know if you want more specific details about any part of my setup! i could literally talk about this forever (as you can probably tell from this novel of a response).
sending you the most organized vibes! hope this helps!!
xoxo, mindy ๐Ÿค
p.s. sleep tight to you too! currently writing this at 1am because i have no concept of proper sleep schedules

I'll highlight that you don't need an analog tape recorder to pull this off! plenty of digital recorders have 1/8" inputs that can be taken off a headphone jack, they'll record to an SD card which cuts down on re-recording it digitally, and doesn't run into the issues that tape introduces. this is one way to get camera audio to a recorder or external audio merged with video on a solo shoot.
I've got a Sony PCM-D50 that works wonders for this, just add a headphone out and press record.
finally! digital audio cables exist! VBaudio makes virtual cables that route audio between applications on your PC, I did zoom meetings for therapy/classwork and routed to Pro Tools to record it in real time. so I'm sure you could think of how you might like to record audio from an application on your computer to keep a digital file later. if you wind up using Pro Tools (don't do it) they now have their "Audio Bridge" which does the same thing.

Spring Cleaning Your Art Business 2025: Essential Art Business Organization Tips
okay so we've been absolutely DROWNING in the business side of our art practice lately and honestly? we thought we were the only ones struggling with this chaos ๐Ÿ˜…
turns out we're definitely not alone in this mess
after months of literally losing client files (embarrassing but true) and forgetting to send invoices because our "system" was basically sticky notes everywhere, we decided to get our act together
and wow... the difference is honestly wild
here's what we've figured out so far on this whole "getting organized" journey:
the file naming thing is REAL - we used to have like 47 versions of the same piece with names like "untitled-1-copy-final-ACTUAL-final.psd" (why are we like this???) now we're doing "ClientName_ProjectType_Version_Date" and it's genuinely life-changing
our studio zones are everything - we carved out specific areas for different types of work and suddenly we're not spending 20 minutes looking for scissors every time we need to package something. who knew being intentional about space could be so powerful?
the quarterly planning hit different - instead of that constant feast-or-famine panic, we're actually mapping out our busy seasons and planning ahead. revolutionary concept, we know ๐Ÿ™ƒ
client management templates saved our sanity - no more "wait what did we agree on again?" moments because everything is documented from the start
the whole "creative chaos fuels creativity" thing? honestly we're calling bs on that now. our brains have so much more space for actual creative problem-solving when we're not constantly stressed about the admin stuff
we're still figuring this out (like, we literally just started using a real invoicing system last month instead of our chaotic email method) but sharing what's working in case anyone else is in the same boat
the art world doesn't really teach us this stuff, so we're all just out here trying to figure it out together, right?
drop a comment if you're also trying to get your art business organized - what's working for you? what's still a complete disaster? let's figure this out together because honestly, we could all use the community support ๐Ÿ’œ
we wrote up everything we've learned so far about spring cleaning our art business [link to blog post] if you want to join us on this whole "getting our creative lives together" journey
solidarity fist bump for all of us trying to make art AND run a business
