I am woken by a loud screeching sound coming from my hallway. My wife is laying in bed next to me dead asleep. How could she not have heard that? Was it just a part of my dream? I try to look down the dark hall, but my eyes are not adjusted to the darkness. I cannot move, I know there is something watching me, if only I can see it. The light in the bathroom at the end of the hall turns on. My wife jolts up all the blood rushes out of her face leaving a pale frightened girl staring back at me.

“What’s that noise?!” she yells at me.

There is no sound. I grab her and we jump out of bed running as fast as we can down the hallway, trying to avoid looking at what is in the bathroom, and out the front door. Once outside I hear the blood gargling screams and banging sounds that my wife must have been talking about. I try to run down the street, but my wife will not move.

“The cats! We left the cats!” She screamed at me.

She’s’ pointing at the house looking at me expecting that I will be the one who runs back into the house. I do just that. The sound inside the house is unbearable, I had to muffle my ears just to focus. Furniture was being thrown against the walls I grab the cats and run out. My wife is gone. What the fuck where did she go. I turn around at the house and the door is slamming against the wall. How can the neighbors not hear this? *honk* I turn around and see my wife driving up in our car. I jump into the passenger seat with the cats. We start driving away, I look back at the house in shock that something like this could even happen, and I see my wife running after the car. It gets cold, my throat goes dry and it feels like all the oxygen leaves the room. I look over at the thing that looks like my wife. Its black eyes stare back at me and its mouth is hanging open showing the pit of darkness that is inside….

It’s #wordcountwednesday in week three of #nanowrimo. Things I’m thinking about this week: first, it appears that it takes me approximately three weeks to fix all the typos in a graphic using this font (ie this font is not Nicole-eye-friendly. Noted.). Also, am I giving credit where credit is due. According to my word count I am right under 19K words. Some of the members of the @stopwritingalone #happycampersclub say I should be counting read words since I am in revision mode being a rebel. My word count is, currently, the number of words in my latest draft. I don’t know why this is the counting technique I have selected this year. Questions for you: 1. What’s your word count today? At the start of this year, book 2 Days of Dominion was still a baby at 20k words. Writer's block hit and I didn't work on it until May. Somewhere between May and June, it grew to a decent 45k, and as of today it's at 60k 🎊 Draft 1 is always super gross so no one will be reading it for a while but still, I'm happy with the progress 😎 Now let's hope writing the rest is smooth sailing and no more writer's block hits (coz it hurts) .
