This isn't targeted at anyone in specific, in fact most of the fanartists in the fandom do not have this issue, which I love and am so relieved to see, but please, for the love of god, draw Sammy plus/mid size.
Sammy is some of the only plus/mid sized rep I've seen in tv that puts ZERO emphasis on the "comedic relief" of her being bigger than the other characters, she's a badass woman who knows how to fight and lived through two dinosaur infested islands without her weight playing any negative parts in it, and that is so relievng to see as a plus size person.
Fat people aren't hard to draw, look up references, look up tutorials, there are plenty, hell she's not even that big to the point where it is drastically different than drawing a skinny person (because yes, while I wouldn't say drawing plus sized characters is hard, it is definitely different) but it is so easy to not draw her with a waist smaller than her neck.

Adventurer Zenos and G'raha cause I had to draw my silly guys. I just enjoy the idea of Zenos hanging out with fellow bookworms and being begrudgingly (though occasionally willingly) helpful.

whats your take on the “palebird not caring about talltail leaving” scene? i always thought it was WEIRD, like yes she was a little distant because she was blatantly depressed, but not to the point where she would straight up not care about her first son leaving potentially forever?? it feels like one of those scenes the writers put in to make the The Woman look bad so the Bad Dad isnt aaaasssss bad.
I feel like many of my problems with it come from the end of TR being a mess. It sets up a ton of plot threads and either goes somewhere strange with them or drops them completely.
Palebird's is one of the ones that just gets dropped.
On one hand, I'm glad that Palebird isn't demonized, but they don't seem to know what to do with her. She's cold towards Tallkit and increasingly short and snippy as he gets older, reacts in a way that's pointed out as aloof and uncaring when he leaves and when he comes back, and Talltail takes it like betrayal when she moves on with a new mate... and then they just don't really have a thesis for that.
In the end, Talltail never stops and teases out his feelings on her, they never show a conversation where some characters talk about why she acts that way, Tallkit's upbringing isn't contrasted with his halfsib's upbringings... their last talk is actually about Shrewclaw and the kits his wife's going to give birth to. Talltail's BULLY.
This book that shows an abusive father and a nasty little jackass redeems both of these boys, making a sharp 180 to say they Weren't So Bad, but has barely any interest in Palebird. When she gives Tallstar one of his 9 lives, it's laughably short;
Tumblr media
That's it. That's the resolution. She doesn't even act happy to see him return, they have a conversation about Talltail's bully, and then after she's dead he's like, "I'll never doubt she loves me ever again."
Like, ok? All right?? Did we just miss the falling action or did Ms. Hunter not feel like it that day?
In general I have so many feelings about Tallstar's Revenge... I can't say I HATE it because it is fun to read, and I like a lot of the things it lays down, but I can't LOVE it for how every step forward it feel like 2 steps back. And the differences in the narrative's sympathy towards Sandgorse (emotionally abusive and committing child endangerment because his son is disappointing him) vs his wife Palebird (completely unsupported while displaying a near textbook case of PPD) are like a tiny little microcosm of the problems in WC.
Sandgorse gets a whole journey dedicated towards finding out he was actually a hero who gave his life saving Sparrow, abuse forgotten, but Palebird... exists, and Talltail's mad she had new kids until he's suddenly not.
So in a nutshell, my take is that this soup is bland and watery. Look at all these complicated potential feelings they just cast out the window so they can talk about Shrewclaw the Bully and his Very Sad Death.
There's much better individual examples of how the narrative tends to treat their male and female characters (which is why I compare Sparkpelt and Crookedstar more than I compare Crookedstar and Palebird), but Palebird's a good place to talk about the pervasive disinterest that WC has in its girls. And how much of a waste it is.

rip gambit you will be missed 😔
Tumblr media
Don't even know what to say tbh.
For those that don't know, the big State of the Game article came out detailing incoming changes and adjustments and all the big stuff. Gambit was mentioned! But at what cost. Basically, they are ceasing any kind of support for Gambit. What we have now is what it is. We will get the Dreaming City map back in TFS and they will add Shadow Legion and Lucent Hive as enemy factions in TFS. That's all.
Full text:
As many of you have noticed, we’ve been quiet on Gambit since last year’s overhaul that launched alongside The Witch Queen. In that revamp, the team made significant changes across five categories in Gambit: core activity fundamentals, Primeval tuning, invasions, ammo economy, and rewards. Unfortunately, these updates didn’t move the needle for player engagement. Although we know our Gambit fans mostly care about new or returning maps, this is an area of the game with lower engagement that would take resources away from more popular parts of the game to shore up.   While we don’t have plans to dedicate more resources to significantly transform Gambit, we do have a few updates planned for the year of The Final Shape. These include porting the Cathedral of Scars map and its beautiful Dreaming City setting into the latest version of Destiny 2, as well as adding the Shadow Legion and Lucent Hive enemy types.
I don't know how to tell you this Bungie, but the reason "engagement is low" in Gambit is because Gambit sucks. Ever since half of it was removed with DCV, it just sucked. It has no variety, the gameplay is largely busted, it's not sufficiently updated, ammo changes suck, invasion cycle sucks (why is the enemy even getting a portal when their Primeval is at 5% health and the other team is still in mote collecting phase is beyond me), there are no cool armour sets to chase (just look at Iron Banner and Trials stuff, imagine dedicated cosmetics) and finally there are simply no weapons that are worth anything. Both Vanguard and Crucible have more weapons and also adept versions. There is zero reason to go into Gambit without major changes to Gambit. And now with the further changes to how playlists and challenges will work, there will be even less reason to go into Gambit. Observe:
Before then, we’re making Gambit entirely optional to maximize your rewards unless you’re looking for a piece of gear that’s specific to the mode. Gambit will continue to serve as a source of Exotic engrams via weekly challenges, though as we mentioned above, you’ll be able to complete all your weekly challenges in any ritual you’d like starting in Season 22. If you want to stick to Vanguard or Crucible challenges without touching Gambit, now you can.  We’re also reducing the number of Gambit-specific Seasonal Challenges starting in Season 22, so players won’t need to bank motes to be able to earn that big purse of Bright Dust for completing nearly every challenge in the Season. Finally, we’re adding Fireteam Matchmaking to Gambit next Season, which will replace the Freelance node and should result in faster, better matchmaking by combining both Gambit playlists. We’ll keep an eye on reception and player engagement after these additions take place, and we hope you’ll visit ‘ol Drifter next Season to get your hands on his new Void Machine Gun.
Ngl, but I don't think anyone besides like a total of 6 people will play Gambit next season. The incentive to go in there is completely removed. You won't even have to go in there for pinnacles or for challenges. The Void Machine Gun will not be enough of an incentive because the chance of that gun being better than two recently available craftable Void Machine Guns (Commemoration and Retrofit Escapade) is very low. And besides, once you get it at the end of your first match, you can leave Gambit forever.
This is the feedback loop that just reinforces the idea that people don't like Gambit. And I mean. Who would at this point. I'm pretty sure that if Crucible had stayed the same as it was at the start of Beyond Light, engagement would be low there too. But you know. Crucible has received major updates pretty much every season since with multiple new modes, several Trials overhauls, Iron Banner overhaul, competitive overhaul, new armours and weapons added and YES, even new maps. God forbid even 5% of these resources went into Gambit.
Anyway, this is the whole section about Gambit in 6500 words. It's basically a "you guys aren't playing this so we're doing the bare minimum of keeping it in the game as is, no new work will be done on it ever." Thanks I guess.
And for the record, something I also added while having a rant in my discord, I want to make it clear that I don't want anyone to spiral into a Bungie hate train. Even for this. I understand perfectly well what's the community attitude towards Gambit and what it's been for years now. People just don't like it and they're not incentivised to like it and they're actively encouraged to hate it. Spending resources into a game mode on the hope that maybe you can change people's minds would be insanity. Like, the amount of change Gambit would need to MAYBE start appealing to gamers would be beyond any reasonable time and resources Bungie can put in. And if you could guarantee that people would love and play Gambit then, fine. But you can't. Most likely, even if major changes happened, people would still just do their weekly stuff and bail. It's simply not worth it. In order for people to like it, it needs to be completely and thoroughly overhauled in a way that would need more time and effort than the entire Light subclass overhaul and it's just not a reasonable expectation, nor is it guaranteed to work. So I get it.
I'm still disappointed and annoyed about it because I believe it wasn't given a fair chance at all. I also know how good it can be and how Gambit Prime could've been improved upon over the years if they tried. Instead, it got removed and that was honestly the death sentence for Gambit. It's unfortunate. It's my favourite game mode that could've been so much better was it given even a fraction of attention of Crucible.
I'll still be playing it. You will find me in the Gambit queue waiting for 2 hours to find 7 other lunatics to play with, don't worry about it. But I'm absolutely incredibly sad about them being basically forced to axe the potential of the whole game mode that is incredibly creative and fits with the type of game Destiny is perfectly.
There's other interesting stuff in the article and some upcoming really cool improvements and changes to the game. But if you're a fan of Gambit in any capacity, this is a death certificate for the mode. I suggest coming to terms with it quickly because Bungie changing their minds about this is highly unlikely.

I think one of the things that I find so compelling about Minkowski & Eiffel is that I believe that who they each are as people means they have the inherent potential to have immensely positive impacts on each other, but I do not believe they would have even been friends in most possible scenarios in which they could have met. I believe they are uniquely attuned to help each other grow and develop and become better versions of themselves, but for the first year and a half of them living and working together, the prevailing emotion between them was irritation. I believe that they are able to support each other through hardship in a way no one else could, but without the specific kind of hardship they went through, they might never have known this.
And even as I acknowledge that they might never have bonded without the trauma, it's important to me that it's not that they are bonded purely by trauma, in a way that might imply Minkowski or Eiffel could have built the same bond with anyone who'd been up there with them.
They are bonded by the ways in which they care for each other, by the ways in which their contrasting personalities make them uniquely well suited to support each other, by the way Eiffel makes Minkowski laugh when she really needs to, by the way Minkowski would do anything to keep Eiffel safe, by the way Eiffel reminds Minkowski of her moral compass in her darkest moments, by the way Minkowski helps Eiffel understand that some things are worth taking seriously.
But without what they went through together, they might never have seen beyond their surface-level understandings of each other in order to form this incredibly valuable friendship. It's not that their traumatic experiences are all that bond them. It's that the traumatic experiences forced them to break past the initial barriers that prevented them from connecting with each other properly and from trying to understand each other, in order to realise the potential for connection that had always been there.

both drivers being moderately to very insane on track
hard racing in general
lots of grey areas where both drivers were (almost) the cause of an incident
weird ass statements in the press

Thomas Hewitt x Top! Male! Reader
NSFW
Warnings: Blood and Gore, y'know. They be killing people
This got WAY longer than expected lol hope you enjoy!
As you came to your senses, you immediately noticed the throbbing pain in your head and a distinct soreness in your arms. The last thing you remembered before now was getting cracked over the head with the butt of a pistol by the particularly rude sheriff who had pulled you over in the middle of nowhere. Okay, maybe you'd been going a little too fast, but nothing that warranted this kind of treatment . . .
As you became more aware of your surroundings, you realized you were dangling by your wrists a good few feet above the ground. That explained the soreness you could feel. Looking up, you could see that your wrists were bound together and the rope was strung over a rather large and wicked-looking meat hook. You could feel your heart starting to race in your chest, although by the maroon stains encrusting the majority of the hook's surface, you should consider yourself lucky that you were only hung by the rope around your wrists.
Looking around, you seemed to be in a basement; the room was dimly lit, with a set of stairs leading up in the corner. The space was cluttered, and specifics were hard to make out in the low light. But you could still tell the scene around you was straight out of a horror movie. All kinds of sharp implements littered every table, as well as what looked to be severed limbs and human bones. Where the hell were you?
You took a deep breath to try to steady yourself, knowing you had to at least try to come up with a plan. You studied the hook above your head. Considering the rope binding your wrists was only slung over the hook, maybe you could slip it right off . . .
Swinging your legs to build momentum, you heaved your body forward and up; for a moment, you thought the rope would slide right off the hook, but to your dismay it caught on the sharp tip. It took everything in you not to yell out in pain as gravity heaved the weight of your body back down. Your already aching shoulders protested as they pulled by the downward force. A small whimper escaped you, and you had to take several deep breaths to center yourself again. But you were so close, you knew you had to try again.
You swore it was the last of your strength this time as you once again swung yourself forward. This time, you felt the rope come free of the hook. You wanted to cry out victoriously, but you knew had to keep quiet. You fell to the ground, your fall broken by several inches of dirty water that covered the floor of the room. Luckily, it prevented the impact from being too hard, but it did make a loud splash as you landed. The smell of strange chemicals and other things you didn't want to think about assaulted your nose as the water soaked your clothes.
As you struggled to your feet, you could hear a commotion above you. There was the sound of someone yelling, and heavy footfalls-- you realized you recognized the voice. It was the sheriff. Cursing under your breath, you frantically looked around for somewhere to hide. You quickly ducked under a table as the door at the top of the stairs was flung open.
"--can't take a liking to 'im, make sure you get him good this time!" The sheriff was yelling, as the heavy footsteps continued down the stairs. There was only one pair of steps coming down the stairs. You wondered who the sheriff was talking to.
You clamped a hand over your mouth to try and quiet your panicked breathing as you saw a pair of legs passing the table you crouched under. You realized suddenly that whoever was in the basement now, it wasn't the sheriff-- this was someone else. As the strange man seemed to spot the empty meat hook, he began searching the basement for you. You didn't have much time now before you were found. You knew that he knew you were still in the basement; aside from the stairs, the only way out was a window that was too high and too small for you to escape out of.
As the legs disappeared from your view and the sounds of movement faded somewhat, you slowly crawled out the other side of the table. Standing, you spotted a meat cleaver on the table you'd been hiding under. You hastily snatched it up, cringing at the slightly tacky feel of the handle. With your hands still bound, you knew you wouldn't be able to wield it very effectively, but it was better than nothing.
Now that you were standing, you could see the man more clearly. You didn't think you could've been more terrified, but somehow you were at the sight of him. He was both tall and broad, not holding a weapon as far as you could see, but from the look of him he'd hardly need one. You dreaded the inevitable moment in which he'd spot you. The meat cleaver shook in your hands as you tried to slowly and quietly make your way towards your only option for escape: the stairs. Despite your best efforts, each step you took splashed quietly, and you'd only taken a few before the man turned around, locking eyes with you. You froze, holding the meat cleaver out in front of you with both hands.
You weren't expecting the bright, intense blue of the man's gaze as it locked with yours. It took you off guard for a second. The man was wearing what looked like a brown leather mask covering the bottom half of his face, making it hard to read his expression, but it didn't look like there was any malice or hatred in his eyes. In fact, he looked . . . almost intrigued as he watched you intensely. He started to advance towards you.
"I don't want to hurt you," you cried out, jabbing the cleaver at the air in front of you. "But I will if I have to!"
The man paused, looking you up and down. He didn't seem intimidated at your threats, not that you'd really expected him to. Even with the large knife you held, you weren't sure if you'd be able to overpower him. He started towards you again, and you tightened your grip on the cleaver. Suddenly, the words the sheriff had been shouting at him earlier sunk in. You had another plan.
"You don't want to do this, do you?" You said, feeling a little ridiculous to even say the words. The entire room around you said otherwise, but you were willing to try anything in that moment. "You don't want to . . . he's making you."
The man slowed, then stopped again. This time he seemed almost like he was struggling internally with something. He hadn't said a word this whole time, so you had to wonder if anything you were saying was really getting through to him. He began to slowly circle you, though he wasn't moving towards you anymore. You carefully kept him in your line of sight, not sure what he was trying to do now.
The door at the top of the stairs banged open, letting a weak beam of light into the basement. You could just make out a figure at the top of the stairs. "Tommy! Hurry it up down there!"
His words were drowned out by the roar of a chainsaw starting up, and you let out a cry of fear as you turned your attention back to the man in the basement. In the second you'd looked away, he'd managed to arm himself, and he wasted no time swinging the chainsaw at you. Out of the corner of your eye, you could see the basement door swing shut, cutting off the little light it had let in. The cleaver was knocked easily from your hands.
You held your hands up in a vain attempt to protect your face. All you could hear was the buzz of the chainsaw, you could practically feel it as it neared you. Suddenly, you felt the rope around your wrists loosen, and you braced yourself for the cutting pain you were sure would follow. When several moments passed and nothing happened, you slowly lowered your arms and opened your eyes. The man-- Tommy?-- stood in front of you, that intense gaze still fixed on your face. The chainsaw still roared away, but he held it almost non-threateningly by his side. The rough rope fell away from your wrists, having been severed by the chainsaw blade. You rubbed at your sore wrists, still terrified, but more than that you were puzzled.
"You . . . aren't going to kill me?" You asked in surprise, watching as Tommy set the chainsaw back on one of the tables, the engine slowly sputtering out. He took a step closer to you, putting the two of you almost face to face, although you had to look up to meet his gaze. You flinched slightly as he suddenly reached out to touch your face. The touch was surprisingly gentle despite the rough, calloused feel of his palms and the strength evident in him. His hands skimmed over the contours of your face and into your hair. Despite the fear you still felt, the fact that he touched you so gently was sort of endearing. Without hardly thinking about it, you reached out to rest a hand on his forearm, feeling the muscles ripple under his skin. You swallowed hard.
A little hesitantly, you reached up to the mask he wore. He seemed startled for a moment, but didn't move to stop you. You carefully pulled it off his face, taking in the features underneath with surprise. Strangely, the man seemed to be lacking a nose-- and even more strangely, you still found him very attractive. When he leaned down towards you, you didn't hesitate to meet him halfway and press your lips together in a surprisingly tender kiss. He was somewhat lacking in technique, but it was more than made up for in enthusiasm. When you found yourself licking into his mouth, the low groan he let out had you gripping the fabric of the stained apron he wore.
One of his hands rested on the back of your head, gently tangling into your hair. You gripped Tommy's hip with your free hand, using the leverage to pull him closer to you. You were drinking in the low noises he made as you ground your hips into him. This wasn't just about staying alive; you found yourself enthralled by this strange man, and you wanted more.
He didn't put up any resistance as you pushed him back towards a relatively clear table. You only broke the kiss for a moment as you pushed him down onto the table. You were breathing hard, but this time it was from excitement rather than fear. The rollercoaster of emotions you'd been on had your head feeling like it was spinning, but it was strangely pleasant. You pressed your lips to Tommy's once again, hungrily this time, as your hands went to the zipper on his pants. You could clearly feel how hard he was already, even before you unzipped his pants to free his cock. It was so thick you could barely fit your hand around it, and the almost desperate moans he let out as you stroked him let you know he'd probably never done this before. The thought was exciting, making your own cock strain painfully in the confines of your pants. You quickly freed it with your spare hand, sighing in relief against Tommy's mouth as you stroked yourself a few times.
Pulling back from the kiss, you looked down at the man before you on the table. He was flushed, panting, and already leaking pre cum with your hand around his cock. The sight sent a jolt through you that made you rut your length against Tommy's still-clothed ass. You knew you needed to have him, and now.
You practically yanked his pants down to his ankles in your desperation, kneading his ass with the hand that wasn't wrapped around his cock. He was looking at you with those wide blue eyes, the expression so different from the one you'd seen not half an hour earlier. The thought made you smirk as you looked him over.
"You're doing so good for me," you murmured as you stroked a finger over his hole. He practically growled in response, thrusting his hips up into your hand. You pressed a hand flat against his hip, as if to hold him down, though if he didn't want to stay like that you knew you probably wouldn't be able to make him.
"Wait," you instructed in a firm tone, and you could see him swallow heavily in response. Carefully, you pushed a finger into him, starting to work him open. He let out a groan as you did so, squirming slightly on the table, but it was clear he was trying to do what you said. As you could feel him relaxing around you, you added another finger, then another. His thick cock was drooling pre cum onto his hip, and you thought he might cum before you even got yourself inside of him.
"Are you ready?" You asked in a low voice, almost shaking with the anticipation of being inside him. He gripped at you like he was trying to pull you closer, and though it looked like he was starting to fall apart, you could tell he was still trying not to hurt you. You pushed yourself inside him slowly but insistently, moaning in satisfaction as you bottomed out in him. Tommy's grip on you tightened, feeling almost painful, but you didn't care at that point as you started thrusting. He felt so good around you, his tight hole squeezing you perfectly. Picking up the pace of your thrusts, you knew it wouldn't be long before you reached your peak.
You leaned down to kiss him again, much more sloppily as your hips slapped against his. You started stroking and squeezing his cock in time with your thrusts, and from the grunts and groans he let out into your mouth, you could tell he wouldn't last much longer.
"Come on," you said low in his ear. "Cum for me."
That was all it took to send him over the edge, his cock twitching in your hand as he came. You could feel his spurts of cum paint your stomach, and the noise he made as he came along with the way he clenched around you was too much for you. You came inside him with a loud groan, feeling your own cum filling him as you sloppily thrust into him a few more times.
Exhausted from all the events of the past few hours, you collapsed against Tommy's chest, feeling the rapid rise and fall of his breathing under you as you wondered what the hell you'd gotten yourself into.

Man I'm STILL thinking about the whole thing with the Professor(s) in Scarlet/Violet
Learning that a character who we thought we've been talking to for an entire storyline has actually been dead the whole game & we've just been talking to an AI version of them the whole time is an experience
And they don't even try to sugarcoat it, either. It is openly stated in-game that the real professor is dead. It's not one of those things where it's only implied and/or you have to read between the lines to figure it out because they don't want to talk about death in a kids game
Like, it was kinda inevitable that we'd eventually get a Pokémon game where the professor was also a villain, but at no point did I ever suspect that we would get a professor who was the villain, but that also the professor we've been talking to the whole time was an AI who wanted to stop their dead creator's plan
I wonder if the DLC is also going to have any story details that will make me have to sit and think about things every time I remember it

i don't know if i can show my proposal sketch off else i'd put it here but i will certainly show the finished mural off here once it's done >:3
#asks#clubsheartsspades#it also helps that i will be paid. several thousand dollars for this job. now part of that is to cover supplies bc it's. FUcking Big but#definitely the biggest job i have had so far size and paycheck wise dhglkdhfgl#i wouldn't call it weird exactly but i'm at an interesting place in my career as an artist bc i feel as if i should have found a specialty#by now. and by no means is it a bad thing that i haven't bc i love working on a huge variety of projects and i learn a lot from all of them#but for me it's like#i'm a freelance illustrator. i'm an art teacher. i do public art. i run an online shop. i do comics in my free time. every now and again i#exhibit in physical galleries#i do digital art but i'm also a traditional artist#'mintt why are you like this' i'm insane and i don't realize it until i write out everything i do like. oh. huh.#i don't mind doing any and all of that it's fun and there is an inherent cohesion to my work regardless bc i made it#but a lot of the artists i follow. especially the handful of professional artists i know irl do like. one or two of those things bc that's#their specialty. and idk if i have that career specialty yet. i Certainly have my specialties irt subjects#i think there's something to be said though about me seeking out more local opportunities than anything bc i don't feel like i quite have#the portfolio yet to be really noticed when applying for Big Things out of state and whatnot#at least with my more traditional work digital stuff is different#i am thoroughly rambling now sdhgklhflg

i may be crucified for this opinion but
one of the many reasons i think dds deserves a remake is just how little impact some of the characters have and it’s really fucking sad. unless they’re party members or antagonistic forces they don’t get nearly as much screen time as they deserve and i think that hurts them as characters???
jinana and lupa especially. i get the setting of the first game is a battle royale that turned into a cannibal battle royale so of course not everyone could live but they kinda didn’t get as much screen time as they deserved. i mean think about it they kinda just exist to introduce their tribe, interact with the embryon for a bit, disappear, reappear once or twice, then next time you see them they’ve succumbed to hunger, you beat the shit out of them, and they end up dying. what little they are given does make you like them don’t get me wrong but a lot of that rides on dialogue which, as someone who loves seeing people experience certain plot stuff of games i enjoy, i kinda noticed that it was a really mixed result. it’s either “oh no anyways” with maybe the player getting a little melancholic when they get brought up again or the player doesn’t care. considering how important their struggles and mini arcs are that’s not good??? the fact that they exist solely to develop argilla and gale is a shame since unless you like the exchanges they have their deaths don’t have that big of an impact. they do get mentions and all that in 2 yet it kinda just. makes me question it more from the standpoint of what could’ve been done with them or the giant emotional aftermath that should’ve happened. this isn’t to say they can’t die or whatever but considering the interesting conflicts dds introduces and how it already struggled to explore it as much as it could’ve, jinana and lupa really did have the potential to help remedy some of those issues.
and then there’s fred aka the smokey of dds. i still don’t know why he exists except to explain why lupa somewhat knows what a child is and to introduce the existence of tiny humans to the gang. i’m sorry i straight up forget he was a character at points.
qds fixed a lot of this yes yet i still think it’s important to point out on a game standpoint, since most people who play dds don’t end up reading qds, and i really don’t think actual important contextual stuff or major aspects of a game’s themes should be exclusive to books. it’s not as bad as something like fnaf or other mascot horrors—that shit was over a decade later—but it is a major writing issue and i don’t think the fact that the original lead writer got sick and had to leave means there wasn’t a writing decline. you can tell there was stuff that was going to be built upon only to be abandoned or underdeveloped.
it’s extra sad because this is straight up one of the best instances of world-building the series has ever had, and the whole cannibalistic character drama mixed with spiritual and buddhist + hindu themes is something so inherently interesting while also being in some ways taboo??? there’s not a lot of games out there at least not made by indie developers that get that risky since it’s not marketable, and something like that is next to nonexistent now in the mainstream market. we fuckin need games like the dds duology that challenge the status quo and goddammit if it got expanded upon and had more development for side characters that would be actually perfect.

as i'm working on my new fic, i just found out i actually love writing james and peter's shenanigans, they're literally pure caos together, like, james is normally a very affectionate person, and peter likes affection, so they're just hugging or cuddling sometimes, but they also bicker a lot so they fight while trapping each other into tight hugs

I truly have to wonder if anyone who is co-signing that letter has ever been a fan of someone who isn’t Top 40/pop star before in their life. Because a lot of the takes I’m seeing really seem to think the only metric for success is - to be perfectly honest - Harry StylesTM. But there are tons of ways to be a working musician with a supportive fanbase that allows the musician to feel successful.
A lot of the perks that Louis fans enjoy right now, the things they LIKE about Louis, only exist because he ISNT this major star. @crinkle-eyed-boo mentioned in her post meeting him at Rough Trade and YES EXACTLY. Being able to meet him, in fucking person, to be able to have this memory of interacting with him - to hope maybe I made him laugh (I did. I also made him swear so loud people behind me heard 🤣)? I don’t get that with a lot of artists I follow. But I got to have it with Louis.
I get fans want him to play big stadiums or to feel validated when they say “I’m a Louis Tomlinson fan” instead of being met with a blank stare but honestly? It’s everyone else’s loss if they don’t want to listen him.
What I’m trying to say is this: the grass isn’t greener on the other side (there will be things you won’t like if he gets as popular as you want him to be), our metric of success isn’t necessarily Louis’, and at the end of the day Louis’ success and promo is not our responsibility.
