Do you have any fic recs similar to your take on iroh? Treating him as an actual character with some fucked up issues is SO much more fun!! I love him and I am chewing on your art

YES!!!!!!!! everytime i post about shithead iroh moments i get nervous someones gonna think i dont like him or im anti iroh or whatever but i genuinely honest to god think his less than savory past and personality traits ON TOP of the things about him that make him so beloved by the fandom makes him better. like yeah i love all parent characters that are just big softies but big softie parents that also are kinda (very much ) fucked up are even better. to ME. and i dont usually judge how good characters are on the basis of how good of a parent they are which is oddly something that a Lot of people do but. U wont find any of that on this blog which is also why i loveeeee ursa.

BUT I DIGRESS! here is my absolute favorite. its unfinished but what is there is still very loaded. digs in deep to iroh. gets pretty nitty gritty with it too. it changed how i see iroh and specifically season 1 iroh. it balances his b1 behavior with his later revealed status as a grand lotus MASTERFULLY, and puts his manipulative and cunning side on full display. might even make you mad at him a little bit

this one is less of a take on iroh as like. a general and a grand lotus and the war side of him and more of him as a father. its short and sad and i adore all of this authors fics involving iroh. it still shines a good light on the consequences of irohs own actions though because lu ten dying was literally his fault. the selfishness and the manic desperation that bleeds through this monologue is kind of scary but also is tragically beautiful.

ALSO these specific parts near the end of salvage were REALLY good. i feel like iroh is definitely the kind of guy that does a whole lot of backhanded comments as a way of patronizing without probably even realizing he does it?? i think a lot of people forget that what makes iroh being “changed” different from zuko is that zuko is still a child, and iroh is like. in his fifties or something. a whole LIFETIME of probably doing everything zuko did pre-redemption but far worse, and plenty times over. take how young azula is when ozai let her loose into the world into account. take the fact that iroh was already a general by the time he was sieging bss into account. im not gonna compare and contrast crimes here but i am trying to put weight onto how long iroh has been in the game. nasty shit like this is bound to still creep in the shadows of irohs mind and will definitely slip out sometimes.

and i know i keep bringing up that one unfinished super gnarly au fic that features azulon putting zuko into irohs care following irohs return to ba sing se (after ozai disgraced himself in requesting azulon give ozai the throne since iroh lost his only heir). hopefully one day ill find it because i hate to think the author deleted it or whatever . but out of all the fics that dig into irohs crimes id say this one does it the deepest while also SOMEHOW managing to make iroh sympathetic just by how sheerly pathetic and miserable he is the whole time. ONE DAY THOUGH. i pray that i will find it. because i have like over 200 pages of history on ao3 and i cant remember when exactly i read the fic so . searching for it has been kind of difficult but if i find it trust i will post it lol

so I've mostly listened the 2018 Twin fantasy album, and not as much the 2011 Twin Fantasy (mirror to mirror)

But boy am I glad I decided to check it out rn. These lyrics in Famous Prophets (minds) hit so hard. And the entire vibe is so like, idk deep, dingy, lo-fi ig lol, the ambience is so different.

And don't get me wrong, Famous Prophets (stars) is also great, like I really fucking love that song, but I'll probably be listening more to minds for a bit, it'll be more impactful in my playlists (in grave contrast to wallows songs where I sometimes low-key don't register when they have played lol)

The old version of Twin Fantasy definitely has it's charms, but I do notice like it's lower quality (fidelity ig) so I probably will go back at some point idk. Tbh I usually prefer the live versions where available, some of those are so neat.

Summary: On a live podcast discussing his rise to fame and how its affected his personal life, Corpse stumbles over the topic of his romantic relationships, more specifically his relationship with Y/N.

“Right, ok we’re officially live!“ Exclaims Anthony as he waves to one of the cameras - the one turned to him - and leans closer to the mic placed on the table in front of him. “Hello everyone, thanks for tuning in today. I’m here with the internet sensation and mystery known as Corpse Husband.“ He turns away from the camera to look across the table at his guest, “Corpse, I hope you know how much effort is being put into editing that sticker over your face for the duration of this whole podcast.“

Corpse, whose face is hidden by a sticker of his avatar, chuckles, “So you’re insinuating that I should probably not move so much.”

“Exactly.“ Anthony laughs, “My guy would be very grateful for that curtesy. Yeah, I have an actual person who I assigned to move around the sticker so there goes an extra paycheck.“

“In that case I promise to give you worthy content. A lot of never previously heard scoop.“ Corpse says, mocking the very words he uses, laughing about them afterwards, “Ask away, man.“

Anthony briefly looks down at a printed sheet of paper before pushing it to the side with a slight furrow of his brows, “You know, these are all cookie-cutter questions you’ve probably been asked many times before. So, I think it’s for the best I ask you something no one has had you talk about. Or something I hope no one has had you talk about yet. If you feel uncomfortable with any question just say so and we’ll skip it right away.“

The sticker moves up and down to mask Corpse’s face as he nods, “Got it.”

“Ok um...“ Anthony falls in thought for a moment, thinking of a question, “The first thing off the top of my head, um, what part of the dark side of fame have you had the displeasure of experiencing?“

Corpse lets out a laugh dangerously close to a scoff, “Almost all if not totally all of it really. There’s such a big chunk of privacy being taken away from you on social media. I got to that point where I felt so naked and seen I felt I was losing myself as my fandom grew. I know it’s many YouTubers’ dream to blow up and have a ton of fans and followers but I never wanted that. Don’t get me wrong, I love each and every one of my fans, I just never expected to accumulate so many of them. I’m such a private person, it was so anxiety inducing in the beginning but I sort of learned how to cope with it, you know? Sometimes, in order to stop people from reaching into my real privacy, I created a fake one that I’d feed into and let them enjoy.”

Anthony’s eyebrows shoot up in surprise, “Wow, how do we know what’s real about you anymore, huh?” It was said more as a joke but he truly meant it. If a person can fake a whole reality for people not to touch into their real one, Lord knows what else they can do.

Corpse huffs, “I’ll give you a hint: If it seems pretty, pink, peach and perfect it’s fake.“ The sticker may be hiding his face from the viewers but it’s most definitely not doing anything to shield the change in expression that occurs on his face from Anthony who’s sitting right across from him and notices the shift right away but before he could question it, Corpse prods on, “Y/N, my partner, can tell you just as much. They know better than anyone what’s the difference between what people know and what the reality is. They know that our relationship isn’t the sunny skies we put on display for our fans. I have my mental and physical health issues, my trust issues and paranoia play a big role in the ‘rains’ in our day-to-day life but they understand it’s all a part of me and a part I can’t control. It actually controls me sometimes and it’s so fucking annoying. But they understand. And while we pretend it’s perfect even though it isn’t, we find our happiness wherever and whenever we can. When it rains so often, you might as well look for a little hint of sunlight. That sunlight can create a rainbow after all. Believe me when I say, that rainbow is the most beautiful thing, makes you forget about the storm that just took place or might even be still raging all around.“ He sighs, preparing to bring his outpour of honesty to a close, “It may be a bumpy road 98% of the time even though on social media we pretend it’s the complete opposite, but that 2% of honest happiness we get from the tiniest of things are more meaningful than I could describe to you with words.“

And he’s more than right, words are often not enough. But the ones he used to describe what he just did were perfectly enough to bring one particular viewer to tears. That particular viewer who knows exactly what he was talking about. Because they are his other half and they’re going through it the same as he is. They’ve gone down that bumpy road side by side with him, ignoring the pain and turmoil while focusing their gaze on the rainbow above. That analogy was theirs from the very start after all. They both knew Y/N is the better one at finding the deeper meaning in everything even when there was nothing to be found.

They always found something. And Corpse will always cherish that trait as one of their best - always finding something to keep them both afloat.

You were cleaning up your station so you can get home and stream. You loved your day job as a tattoo artist but you also really enjoyed streaming. It started as a way to promote yourself as an artist and the shop you worked at but it eventually became a really fun way to destress at the end of the week (or day if you were really itching to stream). “Hey Y/N was that your last client?” your boss, KC, asked as she walked to the front of the shop and put new flash drawings on the walls.

“Yes ma’am!” You said back excitedly. You finished cleaning your station and tossed your black gloves in the trash. “And you can’t trick me into staying and taking walk-ins,” you joked with her. She rolled her eyes and walked back into her office “It was one time,” she said as you slid on your jacket. As you walked out your phone buzzed in your pocket and you checked to see who had texted you. It was a message from Sean asking if you were free to play Among Us with him and some other streamers. You replied that you were on your way home right now and totally down. You were excited to see who was playing this time around since their Among Us streams are super entertaining and have gotten really popular.

On your way back you tweeted and posted to your Instagram story that you’d be streaming soon and set up all your stuff once you made it home. After a few minutes, you had a couple of thousand people watching. You entered the discord chat and Sean spoke up. “Everyone this is Y/N she’s sensitive so be gentle.”

“It’s nice to finally meet you guys and I’m not gentle, I'm ruthless,” You say into your mic and notice the chat calling you a liar. Everyone was in the lobby waiting for the game to start. “You sound way too sweet to be ruthless,” Corpse said. The countdown started and you were imposter with Charlie.

“This should be fun,” you told the stream. Yout tried playing strategically but after such a long shift your brain was mush. You saw Poki in nav and killed her then vented into shields. Not long after the body was reported and you were sure you were going to get voted out or at least sussed.

“Where was the body?” Felix asked. “Nav and I didn’t see anyone near there so whoever is imposter must have vented,” Corpse responded. Felix spoke up again. “I think I saw Y/N walk that way and I haven’t seen her since.”

Shit, shit, shit shit. “I’m in shield right now so-” you said trying to defend yourself but Charlie spoke up. “I was doing tasks with her earlier and I saw her walk into shields so she’s safe but I’m still not sure about Rae.” Everyone discussed a bit more and some people, including Corpse, voted for you but Rae got the majority vote and was ejected. You released your breath and kept playing being extra careful.  

“Okay, guys that was super close. Corpse knows and is out to get me,” you said to the chat. You were eventually voted off but one round later victory was written across your screen with your ghost and Charlie’s avatar. “Good game guys,” Corpse said.

“I told you guys I was ruthless!”

You sat at your station doing nothing because a client had canceled a four-hour session. You were listening to music and sketching some stuff but you were bored out of your mind and you didn’t want to leave in case you got a walk-in. The music got quiet as you received a twitter notification saying someone had messaged you. You reached for your phone and saw you had gotten a dm from Corpse.

C: hey :)

You didn’t know what to respond. You were mostly confused as to why he decided to message you out of the blue. Did he want something? But what would he want?

Y: Hii! This is sudden

C: was i bothering you?

    shit sorry!

Y: Youre fine I wasn’t doing anything rn

C: how has your day been

    i dont usually do stuff like this

Y: Im glad you did im doing better now I was so bored

C: what were you doing that was so terrible

Y: NOTHING! thats the problem :(

C: im sure youll find something to do

You stared at his message. Unsure what to respond.

Y: Im gonna give myself a tattoo

C: what?

    NO!

You tossed the needles you used for your tattoo into the sharps box. “Oh my god you didn’t,” KC said. She noticed the wrap on your calve from the tattoo you just gave yourself out of boredom. “It’s not my fault I didn’t have anything else to do!” You said trying to defend yourself. She sighed and just shook her head. “Just go home business is slow today.” It was raining so the shop probably wasn’t going to get a walk-in anyway and you didn’t have any more clients for the day. It was only 2 pm but you drove home and after making lunch for yourself decided to stream. You weren’t expecting too many people so it was bound to be super chill. Your leg felt sore reminding you of the tattoo. You snapped a quick pic of the fresh jack-o-lantern on the side of your calve and messaged it to Corpse.

    i was concerned why you would just give yourself a tattoo but i found your instagram and       youre super talented

For some reason, it felt strange to just have that be the end of your response.

You sat in your apartment watching tv, hand lost in a bag of Doritos, and scrolling through twitter. You had stopped paying attention to the anime playing on the screen since you’ve watched it a hundred times and knew you wouldn’t miss anything. It was Saturday and you usually take those days off. Take the time to do chores or meet up with some friends but today you felt like not doing any of those things. As you continue your endless scroll (not helping the twitter addiction you told yourself you’d try to get a handle on) you got a message from Corpse.

C: wanna talk?

You looked down at the message unsure of how to answer. It was a simple yes or no and the obvious answer was yes. You and Corpse had started talking more regularly. You still didn’t have each other’s phone numbers but it was fine. Your conversations weren’t too big-- just you sending him memes, tiktoks, and telling him how much you liked the songs he would drop. Or him complimenting a tattoo you did. Sometimes he’d message you during streams telling you funny stuff his fans would say in the chat and you’d do the same. You learned a bit about each other but nothing too deep or serious. Like how you two lived a few cities away and you both really liked Donnie Darko. When Sean first invited you to that game out of everyone else there you were most excited to meet Corpse. He’s just so sweet and funny. Of course, you’d love to talk to him but you were also itching to talk to him and the last thing you’d ever want to do was make him uncomfortable.

Y: Yeah id love to talk

Here goes nothing.

Y: Wanna facetime or something?

     No pressure or anything it could even be a regular call

     I think facetime is just my default lol

You sent those last two messages quickly after you had sent the first. You wished you could know what he was thinking. It was killing you to think you had turned him off from talking to you completely. You put your phone down on the couch and went to wash your hand of Dorito dust. When you got back from the kitchen you turned off the tv and tossed yourself onto the couch.

Still no message.

Why am I so fucking stupid?  

Just as you were standing up to stretch from sitting on the couch all day your phone buzzed. You reached for it fast and looked to see that it was him. You became super excited still not even knowing what the message said. It could have told you to never talk to him again for all you knew.

C: sure lets facetime

You had his phone number. You added him to your small but growing contact list and called. You sat on your couch waiting for a response when he finally picked up the screen was black. It didn’t upset you; you kind of expected it and didn’t care what he had to do to make himself more comfortable during this call.

“Hey,” he said. His voice was raspier than usual.

“Did you just wake up?” You asked and looked at the time. It was about a little past noon and you had only eaten Doritos all day. Shit, you should probably make a decent meal.

“Not that long ago but yeah,” he responded and giggled. That giggle.

“Well, I’ve eaten nothing but Doritos all day while rewatching Ouran High School Host Club, so you’re welcome to join me as I make myself something to eat.”

“Sounds like fun; what are we eating?”

“I don’t know yet,” You said as you stood up and made your way to the kitchen. You opened the pantry and looked. You noticed a can of diced tomatoes and reached for it then checked the expiration date. It was still good. On your counter were some onions and garlic. “How about some tomato soup?”

“Sounds delicious.” you smiled at Corpse and your phone screen not knowing if he was also looking at his screen or not. “You’re really pretty-- you know that?”

“Thanks, but you don’t have to--”

“I’ve already told you what an incredible artist you are so many times I bet you’re tired of hearing it, but you already know what a talented artist you are.”

“That is very kind of you Corpse,” you said to him bashfully as you chopped the onion and opened the can of tomatoes. “But once again you don’t have to reach so far to compliment me.”

“I’m not reaching you are talented and beautiful and--”

“I thought I was pretty.” You could hear him chuckle with a smile on his face. “You’re both,” he said. You could feel your face getting warm from blushing.

“Fuck you you’re making me blush. My face is all hot and stuff.”

He laughed at how flustered you got. “That’s the cutest thing ever.”

You didn’t know how to respond so you just put some olive oil in a pot and tossed in your onions. It became silent but it was a comfortable silence. You turned the stove on and watched the flame for a few seconds. “If it was dark we could pretend we were together and having a bonfire or something,” you said to the phone as you turned the camera to show him the flame (still not 100 percent sure if he was looking at you or not).

“I’ll put it on the list of things to do when you visit me someday.”

A year or two ago I saw a post from a south asian woman who ran an avatar (the last airbernder) blog that was like "I need white people to stop focusing on shipping white boys that barely interact, not in the sense that I want them to start them shipping moc (I mean that too) but in the sense that you lose/not focus on the other parts of the media like criticism of imperialism and the power it continuingly holds as a system" and they just wrote it better but tumblr searching system sucks so I can't find it :(

oh that too. some ppl will just <3 completely ignore the meaning of a piece of media and make it all about shipping. i also saw someone saying that about squid game (disclaimer: i havent seen squid game) and how ppl were making it about shippy cutesy fic instead of a critique on capitalism and imperialism and the responses were insane. some ppl were actually arguing that ppl who were writing coffee shop AUs understood the meaning better than op because "the point is that they deserved to live!!!" like... no the point is way more complex than that. and like i get that not every show is deep and all (since we mostly consume media from a monopolized industry most aren't tbh) but when a story's interpretation is considerably watered down like that so shipping can take the front seat it leads to... well, a lot of problems lol. even when the media isnt actually deep

for example destiel and the destiel fans who genuinely believe/d that spn was a completely different show than it was and that dean was supposed to subvert toxic masculinity like. he really isnt. ur just letting ur love for a ship and ur desire for it to become canon at some point cloud ur interpretation of the show, which is hsrmful both on the general sense that ur critical thinking skills are dulling, but also because 1- ppl then go ahead and ignore problems with the narrative and let them go unchallenged; and 2- ppl who point out these problems get attacked en masse for saying that spn is full of toxic masculinity shit (which is true) because the fandom refuses to interpret the show accurately in the name of shipping. ive seen that happen A LOT in the spn fandom, and i dont even go there

thats just an example ofc its not a destiel only thing but like. yeah its one of the many ways in which this whole "fandom revolces around shipping exclusively" culture is harmful imo

How they are with a MC who’s unsure about having sex with them

Lucifer:

- Lucifer is respectful, he will never bring it up unless MC does first

- He would never pressure her into anything, he’s been alive for a long, long time - he could go without sex with no ease

- He’s still a gentleman though, MC may not be ready to have sex with him but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t enjoy doing other things and Lucifer is more than happy to assist...

Mammon:

- he’s really astonished when he finds out MC’s not ready and that she sees the first time they’re together as really important

- It actually gives him a new outlook on their relationship, he suddenly becomes a lot more thoughtful toward her feelings and will be considerate

- He also learns just how much he actually adores cuddles and the soppier things in a relationship

- Assures her that when she’s ready, he’ll be gentle

Levi:

- don’t you worry MC, Levi is 99% likely to be in the same boat

- He will NEVER bring up sex

- if he could, he’d forget it existed. Just thinking about it makes him blush like crazy

- If he ever does become curious though, he will speak to MC nervously and depending on her reaction, will start a very casual conversation about it

- MC and Levi both share their reasonings for being worried so that they’re on the same page

Satan:

- It’s not a huge thing to him: hearing that MC’s not ready/is unsure, he understands that everybody has different feelings toward sex

- Satan will actually talk to her and listen to her worries about being intimate and doesn’t ever pressure her

- MC doesn’t feel any anxiety when she’s with him, the way he’s so relaxed about it really makes her feel better about the situation

Asmo:

- Oh he is SHOCKED

- “How can you not be sure about wanting to have sex?” He asks, not in a pressuring way but in an absolutely bewildered way

- Nevertheless, Asmo respects her wishes and even makes a joke out of it to try and make her feel better about the situation

- “It’s okay, MC. I’d want to wait for the right time to have sex with me too.”

- He may be the Avatar of Lust but that doesn’t mean he’s clueless when it comes to consent

Beel:

- MC is incredibly nervous to tell Beel but when she eventually does he shrugs and is like ‘yeah that’s fine’

- He just doesn’t care, if MC’s not ready then he’s not going to start pursuing anything sexual with her until she brings it up or feels comfortable. Beel is easy going! He’s not going to force anything.

- If he sees MC’s anxious about the topic he’ll smother her in affections, taking her mind off it

- “You worry too much.” He grins

Belphie:

- Belphie was locked in an attic for god knows how long, if he can go without sex for all that time then he can do it again

- Tells MC she doesn’t need to even talk about it if she doesn’t feel comfortable

- He’s very reassuring, “After being locked away for so long you learn to appreciate things, the only thing I care about is you, MC - the rest is all a bonus.”

- They may not have sex but MC and Belphie are still incredibly affectionate to each other while in the bedroom

Re-reading ch28 makes me wonder about some parallels of Hakoda and Iroh that we might not’ve seen. How many times, before the canon storyline, did Iroh make empty promises to Zuko in order to placate him on the ship? How many times did he tell Zuko that he’d catch the Avatar? That he’d be welcomed back home in honor? It would make sense that Zuko is as angry as he is in the beginning. Iroh unknowingly holding Zuko’s hopes and dreams on a string and dragging them back and Zuko letting him because “he’s the only parental figure I have at the moment, surely he can’t be wrong/lying”.

It makes me wonder how it influenced Zuko’s decisions, especially in s2. Did Zuko make his decision in CoD as some form of fuck you to Iroh? Like “see, I finally did what you promised me” type deal? What would’ve happened if such an event occurred in s1, when Iroh had less of a grasp on Zuko and Zuko had never gone on his own to discover (by HIMSELF mind you) to see what the war was actually doing to the world? And, going back to TAOB, did Zuko see Hakoda in the same way? Making promises and holding them in his face, only to yank them back with more false words? Of course, Hakoda was thinking in the moment, not looking at the full picture because he couldn’t then. Iroh, however, had plenty of time to think of what he was doing yet went along with it anyway.

Is this me overthinking? Yeah. Is this also Iroh slander? ...yeah. It’s probably not that deep but still

Becuase you’re right. Hakoda makes promises without thinking much on them, because most people take a broken promise as something that stings, but also something that is just a part of life, like how adults promise children silly things if it makes them go to bed quicker. Hakoda is just doing what a normal adult would do to placate a scared kid. But Zuko has such a complicated relationship with promises. He’s been promised so much his whole life, both good and bad, and these things are almost always pulled from him or warped into something he didn’t expect. And i never thought about Iroh, but you’re right. We see in the show how Iroh never actively dissuades Zuko’s desire to return home aside a few comments, and he had three years to do that. Three years to show Zuko that home wasn’t actually as good as Zuko thought. But instead, Iroh just sat back with his tea and let Zuko chase the dream of it about, doing nothing on the basis of ‘he probably won’t find the avatar anyway’. So yeah, i can definitely see Iroh making promises to Zuko about returning home, and how having them broken would really effect Zuko to the point he’d rather kill a man than make a promise to Zi Se that he can’t keep

A/N: Happy Fic Fri--Saturday! Had this most of the way written up yesterday, but my daughter has not been going down at her bedtime very well so I didn’t get it done before bed! But here I am now, posting as my husband is now trying to get her to go back to sleep. Babies, I tell yah.

Welcome to Marvel High, where being the new kid wasn’t the worst. Your homeroom couldn’t be weirder though; your teacher wears an eye patch and is always shouting for some reason, and a group of dysfunctional teens calling themselves the “Avengers.” Probably the weirdest thing is their insistence that you join.

Pairing: Pietro x Reader Warnings: language, sexual innuendos, teenage substance abuse Words: 1,300ish

The dynamic of the group was odd to witness. They all had drastically different personalities, something you had already gleaned from the bickering during the school day, but under the influence of alcohol, it became even more obvious. It was as if the group was comprised of smaller groups. 

The Maximoff twins were obvious. Natasha and Clint were a pair, that you were sure of. The way they shadowed each other and communicated in their body language was hard to ignore. Either they had been friends for a long time or something was going on between them. Though you felt it would have been inappropriate to ask. Tony and Bruce seemed close, from what you had overheard from their in-depth science conversation at lunch earlier. You could always find Steve, Bucky, and Sam together, but Bucky seemed annoyed whenever he was left with just Sam.

Thor was an outlier and seemed to bounce around all of them seamlessly. His cockiness rivaled Tony’s. Thor appeared to be about six beers deep and enthusiastically telling a story about how he wrestled some unnamed beast in is home country.

“Where is Thor from again?” You turned to Pietro who was watching the group from a distance with you. Though you had felt him watching you when you weren’t looking.

“Some Scandinavian country… we think.” Pietro shrugged. “You sure you don’t want another drink? Nat makes a mean cocktail.”

“I’m sure she does, but I should probably keep my wits about me and not smell like I’ve been drinking. My dad is like a bloodhound with that stuff. One beer was already a risk.”

“So, what is up with your dad anyway? He seems…” Pietro struggled to find the right word.

“Hella protective?” You quirked an eyebrow.

“Yes, hell-ah protective, as you so put it.” Pietro inclined his head in your direction, closing the small gap between your bodies.

“He means well. I haven’t made the best choices in my life. And trouble seems to follow me wherever we go. It’s only a matter of time before it finds me here.” You were being intentionally vague. It was a can of worms that someone you just met shouldn’t have sprung on them.

Pietro furrowed his eyebrows but didn’t push. “So, you set fire to your previous school?” He guided you back to the group and you sat next to Wanda on a loveseat, Pietro perched on the arm.

“Fire? Is Y/N talking about setting her school on fire?” Tony had been making his way to the bar when he heard the word fire. Another lit cigarette dangling from his lips.

“Yes, but don’t even think about sitting next to us with that lit.” Steve waved his hand to the offending object.

“It’s my house,” Tony guffawed.

“Rule eleven, specifically made for you, is not smoking within the group circle, because not all of us are trying to get lung cancer before twenty-five.” Steve rolled his eyes.

“I think it’s unfair that we have rules specifically aimed at me. But fine.” Tony dropped his cigarette into his glass and joined the group.

“Rules?” You echoed.

“Top secret,” Tony winked, “Back to the fire, what did you do?”

“It wasn’t anything crazy. I was in wood shop and got bored, wondered if I could burn in a design on a plank with my lighter, and it was highly flammable, apparently. It didn’t take long for the rest of the shop to start on fire, the air was basically half saw-dust.” You shrugged, honestly, it wasn’t the stupidest thing you’d done. It was also an accident for once.

“It only went as far as the home-ec classroom. No big deal, aside from being expelled." 

"Lame!" Tony yawned. "Let's play truth or dare!" 

Everyone groaned and threw empty solo cups at him. 

"Why do you always insist on playing?" Nat looked to him, incredulous. "We've been friends long enough that it isn't fun anymore. You just want us to do stupid shit." 

"What's wrong with stupid shit?" Tony insisted. "Besides we have a newbie now!"

  You looked at your phone and saw it was almost ten o'clock. Had it really been two hours already? "Sorry, but I have to head out. Curfew." 

"And here I was thinking you were a trouble maker," Tony smirked. 

"Oh, I am. But I don't want to be grounded for eternity. Great party though, Tony. Thanks for the invite." You made to leave with Pietro and Wanda on following behind you when a young boy, probably about 14, came running in, out of breath. 

"Alright, who invited the freshman?" Steve rubbed his temples. "We agreed, no freshman." 

"Parker isn't going to cause any trouble, the kid's a saint," Tony argued. "What's going on?" 

"Some--oh hi," the freshman saw you. "I'm Peter Parker. You must be new."

"I'm Y/N. You okay, Peter?"  

He was still trying to catch his breath. "Oh yeah! There's a bunch of Hydra High douche-bros who snuck in. They're by the pool." 

"Fuuuucccckkkkk." Bucky cursed. "They're definitely here to start some shit." "Alright, is everybody sober enough to deal with them?" Steve looked pointedly to Tony who was rolling up his sleeves, already looking ready for a fight. 

"We should probably go, you don't need me and Wanda, right?" Pietro looked to Steve. 

"Umm... if you're parked in the driveway, you won't be able to get out. They blocked it with their own cars." 

"Looks like you're going to be late. Sorry." Pietro frowned at you. A heavy sigh escaped your lips. 

"Nah, it's not your fault. How quickly do you think we can scare off these guys?" Tony held up his hand, gaining everyone's attention. "I might have a solution. Let me go down to my basement, and I will meet you out there." 

The group made their way down to the pool. Your other classmates had crowded around, keeping a distance from Hydra.

  Hydra was raiding the outdoor bar and the scariest student among them was lounging on a wicker chair, sipping lazily on a bottle of vodka. A small voice in your head said he was the leader. Maybe it was because everyone else was at work nabbing whatever they could and he was already enjoying their spoils. You just knew. 

"Avengers!" he called out, happily. "Great party!" 

"Avengers?" You whispered to Pietro. 

"I'll explain later." 

The leader's eyes narrowed in on you. "New recruit?" 

The hair stood up on the back of your neck as he stood up and stepped closer to you. He looked you up and down, perplexed. "Do I know you?"

"Doubt it." Pietro pulled you behind him, breaking his line of sight. 

"Maximoff onto a new toy already?" 

"What are you doing here, Keller? I thought we told you not to come near this place again?" Steve pulled the attention to him. "The message was pretty clear when Thor cracked open your forehead." 

"We heard about the dope ass party, Rogers. Thought some of your classmates would want to have a little more fun--" 

"We don't want your shitty drugs." Peter piped up. "Like weed is cool and stuff, but--" 

"Your shit is garbage." Tony sauntered through the group, a contraption strapped to his arms. "And calling it 'Candy Andy' is kinda lame." 

A light emitted from Tony's palm and beam jutted out and shatter the bottle of vodka in Keller's hand. Tony hissed from the hot metal burning into his palm but stood his ground. 

Keller remained calm and held up his hands, though you could see a slight look of terror in his eyes. "Alright, we'll see you around another time then. Good to see you again, Y/N." He winked at you and they took off. 

You froze, you didn't know him, how did he know you?

I would like to state for the record before we begin that this is my personal reasons for not enjoying the format of television and not “why television is bad'' because im sure there's many people whose reasoning for liking TV is the same as my reasons for disliking them. please dont get mad at me if you disagree lmao

I feel like the short answer could be: “I have a degree in theatre and i prefer books” 

But really i hate the fact that the story is subject to change via outside forces.

In a well written play or book, there is a beginning, middle and end. It is a complete story that has been well thought out and woven together. Every detail is important and makes sense dramaturgically. You have your characters and your plot and nothing about that changes. We’re taught in Theatre School (TM) that the playwright is the first artist, and everything goes back to the playwright’s words. The story cannot change because of outside forces and it will not change over time. Once a book has been published, it is done. And yeah in theatre, a play can be done by many people with multiple interpretations of the story but it always goes back to the playwright’s words as they are the first artist and it is about honoring those words. Yada yada. you get it.

TV is always subject to change. Actors leave because there was drama on set or because they have other projects to work on. Writers change and the tone of the show changes. Or they go to a different network and the show changes. You never know how long the show is actually going to go so it could be cancelled in the middle of an important plot they never got to wrap up or the show could extend past the original plot idea and the seasons get more and more ridiculous as they’re just trying to come up with shit to do so they can keep the show running.

Like supernatural, which went on for far too fucking long and just kept spitting out nonsense when they could have wrapped up in season five.

Like the Vampire Diaries, where the main fucking character Elena Gilbert left the show (which was ridiculous!!) or when her little brother Jeremy was just like written out of the show and then never talked about again like what the hell

Like Timeless, which got cancelled after two seasons and left so many loose ends (they had to like, beg for a movie to wrap everything up) 

Like the Magicians, which just, like, sigh. Y’all know. I don’t want to get into it. Y’all know. 

Hell, even Parks and Rec, with Ann and Chris leaving the show. If Parks and Rec had been a book Ann would have never left!!! Never!!! 

Characters get pregnant because the actors who play them get pregnant and suddenly THAT’s the plot line of the season. (Wynonna Earp, Brooklyn 99, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Sex and The City, Bones, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Once Upon A Time, Charmed, The Vampire Diaries, Parks and Rec, Grey’s Anatomy, The X-Files, Yes I Looked Up This List To Prove My Point)

If an actor breaks their foot then the writers have to change the plot. Everything about the story is subject to change due to outside forces and that might be a selling point for some people but i do not vibe with it!! 

And also, you’re watching the story unfold over the course of time and something could change halfway through the season and they abandon the really cool plot they were working on to suddenly set up a way for them to kill off the main character of the show. (okay apparently i do want to get into it with the magicians).

Like call me a snob but i like a concise arch! Something that the show is working towards, the story that they’re telling and the thesis of the show, and the end goal they’re working towards. I just honestly don’t like the “stories wrap up in one season and will we get another? Maybe? Okay yes we will so let’s come up with a new big bad for the characters to fight who’s got ideas” or like if you get seven seasons into a show and they’re like “And here’s my long lost sister that ive literally never mentioned before but we needed something exciting for the plot so here she is!” like i hate that shit. I know my old roommate loooooved when TV shows pulled twists like that so im not saying it’s bad writing im saying I personally hate this style of writing. 

I just keep throwing in these disclaimers so no one gets pissy at me lmao 

I think what caused me to realize and put a name to these feelings was watching the Schitt’s Creek Finale. I love Schitt’s Creek because it feels like one concise story. The characters all grow and develop and have an arch and at the natural conclusion of that arch, the story wrapped up. I loved that shit. It was a game changer for me. Any other show would have kept going and the tone of the show would have been totally different and frankly im glad they wrapped it up when they did and as they did. It was a perfect ending. 

I haven’t really watched the Good Place but I’m told similar things about it. 

Avatar the Last Airbender which we can all agree is the greatest show ever written had a clear plotline throughout the whole series and a goal they were working towards even if they did have side plots, it was all building up to one endgame. And it was stellar. 

I also recently rewatched parks and rec which is one of my favorite shows of all time and i do truly love it but like the whole point of the show originally was that they were gonna build a park and there were times in the show that they just totally forgot about that goal to work on other storylines until they were like ANN’S LEAVING WE GOTTA BREAK GROUND. That’s annoying! And once parks and rec started getting really popular and making more money they were able to be like “let’s send them to england! France! DC! Scotland! San Francisco! Let’s bring in Michelle Obama and Joe Biden and John McCain and Madeleine Albright! Which like all of that was really cool and some of the best parts of the series but also just another example of how the show changed over time as they got more name recognition and money. 

Also lmao i just had the thought that it doesn't really matter what community did because the point of that show was to be batshit and they succeeded spectacularly. What a good time. Just had to add that in there. 

So yeah that’s why i hate the television format because everything is subject to change from the plot to the tone to the writing to the characters and a lot of times there isn’t a clear narrative arch as they’re just coming up with nonsense to keep the show going and i just don’t vibe with that. 

So if i hate the television format why do i still watch it, you ask? You never shut about tv shows on your blog and yet here you are declaring that you hate them. What’s up with that. Well, the answer is simple. I have major FOMO. Also lmao quite honestly i just recently came to these conclusions and put words to these feelings during the quarantine so after 23 years of being pissy at tv shows all the time i honestly probably will watch less of it. I probably wont stop completely tho. Ive already said that im not gonna watch tv shows with queer characters until the show is over and its been confirmed for me that the show treats its queer characters and viewers with respect and dignity and i stand by that. (It’s the only reason why ive started to watch black sails.) im for sure never watching another cw show again. I have literally never finished a CW show because something has happened in it halfway through that pissed me off so much i never finished the series

So that’s my opinion does anyone also feel the same way? I feel like im crazy

excellent !! i love suki! if i were to write a suki fic, it would be my Suki Magnum Opus. canon-compliant, through the years type. each scene would be 200-1000 words

first scene: average day for 5 year old Suki on Kyoshi Island. she probably goes to the market with her mother, spots the Kyoshi Warriors practicing (allude to her mother having been one), runs to the dock when she sees the fishing boats coming in and greets her father

a few months later, a fishing accident took her father (because we don’t know what happened to her parents, but i like to think it was unrelated or tangentially related to the war since she didn’t seem radicalized on that axis before meeting sokka). perhaps she joins the Warriors partially so there is somewhere for her to go while her mother works more to make up for the loss of secondary income

as a preteen, practicing with the Warriors and emphasizing her teaching abilities even early on. she is probably asked to demonstrate her stances for the younger girls. allude to old Warriors leaving for the war effort-- the war feels nearer now, but not quite “here” yet (her mother may have had to leave the Island or passed away) 

that changes when she and the Warriors, that she now leads, apprehend three suspicious kids on the shore. cue: teaching Sokka, realizing the war is here and the war has been here, even if Kyoshi Island hadn’t been directly colonized or subjugated. trade, security, etc has been affected for years and it was only a matter of time... 

Suki’s speech to the other Warriors that inspired them to join the war effort, and part of their journey to the Serpent’s Pass where they helped refugees. 

i’m just going to skip the serpent’s pass episode here, and go directly to the day the Warriors were in the forest and found Appa, and were transported to prison

conversation between Suki and Azula. Suki has already been singled out as the leader. this is where Suki mentions Sokka and how “he’ll come and get me” (no ‘save me’ vocabulary here babes sorry) 

prison scenes. think the montage from new moon. do you think anyone told the prisoners about the failed invasion? i bet

WAT bts! i have a lot of ideas for this, including bonding with Hakoda and Zuko in particular. (you ever notice Hakoda fights with what appears to be a similar philosophy of redirecting momentum of ones opponent? js) 

ember island! sokka and suki time. suki wanting to open up to sokka in the same way he’s learned to lean on others, but she just can’t-- not leading up to final battle. 

post-final battle (yes bc im too lazy to think of unique takes on the actual events). being reunited with the other warriors and making sure they’re all alright, being with Sokka while he initially heals (i’m going with him never fully recovering and using a cane) 

spending time with Sokka and sort of being able to drop the leadership position she’s had for years and just be a teenager with her boyfriend in the Fire Nation preparing for the coronation. their relationship becomes more ‘permanent’ during this time... not based on the need to protect and have something to hold onto during a war

idk anything about Suki in the comics so skip. maybe one time when Sokka sees her while she’s Zuko’s bodyguard. Maybe a sweet Suki and Zuko scene too!

Suki visiting Republic City to see her husband!! I think Sokka was in his mid-forties when he was a councilman, so yeah <3 I think writing a quiet moment of Suki just walking through the city introspectively would be nice. maybe then she takes a ferry to air temple island and sees Aang and Tenzin

I’m working on a Glacier Spirits Festival fic rn but heck. throw it in here too. Suki going with Sokka to the south pole, visiting old Hakoda, seeing all the kids, Suki being grateful to be able to be an aunt to all these kids. so much of her and Sokka’s time has been spent apart by necessity, and even together they just.. never had any of their own. so it’s bittersweet (also allude to Sokka becoming more intuned with his spirituality at this point)

Katara becomes chief of the SWT and Suki takes a leadership role in Kyoshi Village. but then Aang passes away and Katara steps down and Sokka becomes chief and they start talking about figuring out how to live together. they’re getting older and frankly they don’t want to become too old to travel to see each other. maybe Suki was visiting the SWT when Korra is discovered, and decides that she can help with protecting the new Avatar

Sokka cooks breakfast one morning and they just have a quiet, intimate moment. like the cozy scene you only get from years of affection and understanding. then news comes of the Red Lotus attack on Korra and we cut to a fight scene with Old Suki, Old Sokka, Old Zuko, and Old Katara (and tonraq and unalaq and...) and whew. but they still got it <3 (old suki chi blocking ghazan or smth! imagine)

here’s what you know had to come. i can’t decide who goes first, but i think Sokka and Suki are one of those couples who both pass naturally, and only a few months apart. since this is Suki-centric, i think Sokka’s gotta go first. they knew it was coming, but Suki is inconsolable when he goes in his sleep. for once there’s nothing to redirect her energy toward. she and Katara comfort each other as best they can, and when the others arrive for the funeral Suki is mostly composed. 

Cut to a scene 2-3 months later with various characters paying their respect. if i were to write this and feel generous at the end, perhaps there is a spirit world reunion (do not try to tell me how the spirit world works, i dont care)

Hello!

So I made a post ages ago (over the summer, I think? Time has no meaning to me lol) about doing a sort-of "pilgrimage" for the Goddesses using Breath of the Wild and it gained some interest! I've done it a couple of times since then but didn't really post about it because I didn't think anyone on my main would be interested, but now that I have this seperate blog exclusively for my own practice, I figured why not make a post about how I did it!

**Please note!!! This is just how I do this and how I carry out my practice. This is in no way a set of rules you HAVE to follow. If you want to take this idea and adjust it to fit your practice, or completely change aspects of it, go for it! I'm not here to determine anyone's path except my own**

Some context: I currently live in a tiny studio apartment. I don't have much room for a shrine or altar, and when I do anything witchy it usually takes place on my coffee table. So when I decided I wanted to work with the Golden Goddesses, it made me sad that I didn't really have space to honour them or leave offerings. Then I think I read a post on here about digital shrines and got this idea! A pilgrimage using Breath of the Wild that gives me the ability to give offerings to shrines that are already dedicated to the Goddesses!

First, I'll start out grabbing my favourite horse! This is my first horse, Cricket! I also will dress Link in his regular clothes, and give him a normal shield and weapons. Personally, I want to really drive home that this is me, and not me channeling The Hero, so I try not to wear/use anything associated with Link The Hero (Master Sword, Champion's Tunic, Epona, etc).

You can start your journey from anywhere! I usually like to start from Link's house in Hateno, but it doesn't really matter that much. This time, my game loaded me in close to the Spring of Power in Akkala, so that's where I started. I dont think it really matters what order you go to the shrines, but I usually end my journey at the Temple of Time and pray to Hylia last.

When I get to a shrine, the first thing I do is go right up to the statue and say a small prayer. I'll end with thanking them, and then I'll give my offerings to the water at the base of the statue. The offerings totally depend on what you associate with the Goddess! I'll go over my associations at the end.

Finally, I'll let Link sleep at a fire nearby until morning. For me this is symbolic of a time of reflection, and by giving that time in game, I can reflect on the Goddess while the game loads, and it gives the avatar we're currently using (Link) that time to reflect as well! And then I just repeat these steps for Nayru, Farore, and Hylia.

Some rules I set up for myself to make it feel more "authentic":

- no fast travel! Take your time to appreciate Hyrule and reflect on how the Goddesses used their power to form such a beautiful place.

- Stop and give thanks/offerings to any Sheikah shrines (those collections of little frog statues on the side of roads). They'll keep you safe and bring luck

- do not kill anything! This is to be a time of reflection, you can stop to harvest materials, but I do not hunt animals while participating on this journey. I give myself a pass to kill monsters terrorizing civilians because they are not there by the grace of Hylia and I am helping the people of Hyrule by doing so.

- if you see one of the sacred dragons, stop and take it in! They are extensions of the Goddesses and are incredible! Personally, I also send up a small prayer of gratitude to the dragon as well, but that's only because I work with them too

Again, these rules are not necessary!! Change them or get rid of them to fit your personal needs!

Here are some things I use as offerings to the Goddesses!

I give one Silent Princess flower with each offering, as they are a universal offering.

Din:

- anything with warmth buffs (spicy pepper, warm safflina, sunshroom, etc)

- anything with attack or defense buffs (mighty thistle, ironshroom, mighty carp, etc)

- rocks or precious gems

- anything that comes from Dinraal

Nayru:

- anything with cooling buffs (chillshroom, cold safflina, etc)

- anything with healing buffs (hearty salmon, hearty truffle, etc)

- anything with stealth buffs (bluebells, sneaky river snail, etc)

- anything from Naydra

Farore:

- anything with electric buffs (electric safflina, voltfruit, etc)

- acorns, eggs, fruit/vegs, and other forest harvestables

- anything from Farosh

Hylia:

- cultivated harvestables (hylian rice, fresh milk, cane sugar, etc)

- precious gems

- any flowers you find beautiful!

- anything with health buffs

And yeah, that's about it! Sorry this post is so long and the quality of the pictures is kinda bad, but I've done this every time I feel I need to talk to my Goddesses and they've given me signs every time! It helps me feel closer to them. If you try it, let me know how it turns out!!

i know in one of my other posts i compared bellamy to zuko but as of rn he’s more of a jet (charming yet ruthless leader of a group of kids) especially back to whatever episode where he did a speech about privilege and wanting the upper class to do the work for once--> very reminisce of Jet and the freedom fighters. both bellamy and jet are very bitter towards those in power because they did wrong toward their family members. BUT also season 1 of avatar where jet is willing kill a village just to get rid of the fire nation is similar to bellamy wanting everyone to take off their wristbands despite clarke’s warning about how the need the aid of the ark to survive

and yes im aware of the comparison between bellarke but zutara now idk about that because zutara holds a special place in my heart. honest to god there was so much parallels between the two (twin flames) and foreshadowing you can’t convince that the two are not soulmates. i’ll wait and see tho

....i was very curious and annoyed so i looked it up and yes. they did fucking cut her out. wtf did they really just bait me with diversity in the pilot. I’m honestly mad because as an Asian american i like to see representation which is why i was so happy to see female asian american on screen when i watched the pilot. now im angry. while i know that diversity is not a big deal to some people it is to me and i really don’t appreciate the 100 showing all these diverse faces in pilot to only to just cut them out of the show. seriously wtf (monty better have a badass storyline) 

don’t worry i’ll keep watching the show and blogging but rn im just really disappointed in the show. like really please don’t dangle diversity in my face when you’re just gonna snatch it away

“They’ll be done for in no time! Right, babe?“ I stick my foot out to the side, nudging Corpse’s leg.

There most certainly are pros and cons when it comes to sharing a gaming/streaming/recording room with me, and the whether the constant pestering is a good or a bad thing is still up in the air. I mean, yeah Corpse rolls his eyes every now when I do it, but I’ve also caught him smiling about it out of the corner of my eye. Bottom line, I do it to invite that almost childishly mischievous smirk on his face. That’s the ultimate reward.

And ok, yes, I’m also the one trying to peek over the barrier separating out computers to peek at his screen to see if he’s impostor or not, but he tolerates that bad habit of mine. Well, he sprays water my way or gently whacks me with a pillow, but I consider that toleration. It’s a playful little dynamic we have going on, one we don’t have to perform today since we’re impostors together.

I cannot recall a time that has happened before. In fact, I can say I’ve been paired up as impostors with everyone but Corpse. I personally think it’s a practical joke the game’s algorithm is pulling on us, seeing as how we’ve been dating for quite some time now. I mean, that’s the only way to explain this coincidence of never being impostors together.

Looking at the subject now, it may be hella beneficial for us considering no one would suspect us both to be impostors together. Everyone is in on this ‘misfortune’ of ours and it’s honestly hilarious but Corpse and I are about to rip them a new one, I just know it.

“Oh, definitely! I’m the risky half, but they’ll never suspect you so we’re 100% winning this.“ He replies, sending a wink my way. He’s vaguely surprised when I return it with a narrow-eyed look.

“What’s that supposed to mean ‘they’ll never suspect you‘? I’m a great impostor! Is that you questioning my skills I’m hearing?“ I raise an eyebrow, turning my attention back to the screen which displays Corpse and I alone in Electrical, pretending to be doing tasks and waiting on our first victims.

“No! No, not at all. Far from it. It’s just that you are...well, you know...you are you. No one would think you’re the one dishing out all these tactical kills. You always seem relatively interested in the game only to have fun and not to win and....“

“Look sweet and innocent.“ I cut him off, finishing his sentence, “Yeah, yeah, I get your theory.“ Suddenly, I hear Rae’s chipper voice approaching, talking to her chat, I’m assuming. This gives me a rather...interesting idea. With that in mind, I give Corpse a side-glance and a devilish smirk that’s promising trouble, “Let’s test it out, shall we?“

“Wha-?!“ Before Corpse can even say his question fully, Rae wanders into the room, cutting him off with a question of her own.

“Test what out?“ She asks, coming to stand between us, doing her own task.

I’m so sorry, Rae

Before anyone could fathom it, I swiftly kill Rae and report her body, all seemingly in the blink of an eye. Corpse hasn’t even fathomed half of this insanity when he hears an accusation being thrown right at him.

“Corpse, how could you?!“ I cry out, and damn - not to toot my own horn or anything - but I’m pulling off the ‘distressed friend-witness‘ act quite well. I bet Corpse would give me an impressed look or mouth ‘minx’ at me if he wasn’t staring at his screen with his mouth agape. “You were planning to blame it on me weren’t you?!“

“Wait...no! That’s not-It wasn’t me! I swear it wasn’t me!“ He finally finds his voice, croaking out desperate defenses, each cut off by a wheeze of something alike shocked laughter that almost gets me to break out in a fit of my own.

“Very convincing, buddy. He’s definitely innocent, you guys...“ Toast comments just as the ‘VOTED‘ sticker pops up above the icon of his avatar in the meeting.

“Right? How could you even think otherwise?“ Leslie backs him up, the sticker appearing on her icon as well.

“Guys! No, for real, it’s Y/N! I swear on Bingus it’s Y/N!“ He probably should’ve used something more convincing, not that it would’ve worked either way. I’m a ‘trustworthy‘, ‘innocent‘ and ‘honest‘ person, just like Corpse said. Aren’t I?

Mere seconds later, he’s shot off the ship, the screen confirming he indeed was an impostor, automatically getting the blame off me cause no impostor would be dumb enough to out their partner like that, lowering their chances at victory. I don’t consider that a dumb move though - I think it’s rather genius, actually. 

“Don’t worry, Corpsie.“ I give him a wink in return to his death glare, his arms crossed over his chest, looking quite unamused. “I’m winning this one for you.“

We both know I can and I will. Of course I can when I’m given the advantage of faux innocence everyone falls for - in more ways than one, if you know what I’m saying *wink* *wink*
