I think playing with newbies in DnD is fun, sorry to you but im different. You get frustrated because they dont know everything yet? weak, is it really too much work for you to explain?
Hell, make it fun for everyone, I started my campaign in a festival with games that would introduced players to some of the mechanics! idk do something dynamic like that to teach them about the game without making it really boring or something its not that hard to do?
Anyways this is a safe space for newbies or people who want to play an aarakocra because they are fun bird people, and people who want to have super edgy backstories and shit like that, its a game of make believe im not gonna ruin peoples fun because they dont know every single rule and im also not a sticker, if my players want to do something that doesnt go with the rules but it makes sense and is cool, why the fuck not

One of the most common questions I get about my games is "can I play as this? can I play as that?", and I'll level with you: basically every game I write is about a narrowly focused experience, so if you're the sort of player who's afflicted with the contrarian urge to insist on playing a character who's the exact opposite of whatever type of character a game is notionally about, regardless of what type of character that is, you're probably not gonna have a good time.

Gonna start posting my one pagers on Tumblr because why not. This one is about a weird dome I saw five minutes from my house that I’d somehow missed for an entire year

the one thing amiss from nsbu's concept and the general isekai/modern jumanji medias in general is the fact that in the original jumanji all that shit happened in the real life town. people died for real. we need to bring funny games (1997) to the tabletop scene

Also this is probably because I watch people who mostly play Pokémon for like challenge videos but I get so annoyed when they talk about how much dialogue there is or having to fight their rivals a whole bunch of time like SHUT UP HOP'S TEAM CONSTABTLY CHANGING IS GREAT AND THEY COMMENT ON YOU USING SUPER EGFECTIVE MOVES BECAUSE IT'S AN EASY WAY TO HAVE THE BATTLE HAVE MORE PERSONALITY BASED ON YOUR CHOICES SHUT UP SHUT UP

WHOAH!! THE PARTY IS COLORED NOW!!!
for those unfamiliar, hi!! these are my initial designs for a currently unnamed cyberpunk rpg i'm making. their names are sylvie, v, xenon, and kori. you can read about them here!
anyway, these are only my initial designs and so they're still very much subject to change. i decided to just color the sketch instead of doing lineart because i don't want to spend excessive time on a simple lineup, but i might line it one day. who knows.
the weapons are currently just silhouettes because they're eventually getting their own post about designs!!
a bunch of stupid gifs under the cut for whoever wants em :3
rotating them in my brain at all times

GURPS is a mechanically great game but I'm so tired of reading some truly awesome mechanics followed by a bucket of ableism

Inadvisable tabletop RPG premise #137: Fantasy setting where wizard towers have approximately the same role and cultural significance as Cold War nuclear missile silos. It’s impossible to really hide the fact that you’re casting a high-level spell, and extremely difficult to defend against one, so all of the world’s greatest wizards are locked in a mutually assured destruction scenario; the moment any one of them tries to perform a world-shaping act of magic, all of the other great wizards will smell it and immediately respond by casting Fuck That Guy In Particular.
The setting otherwise superficially resembles a perfectly standard Generic Fantasy Setting, though any close examination will rapidly reveal how deeply its culture is informed by the looming knowledge that the world is perpetually one wizardly temper tantrum away from total annihilation, and the extent to which the conspicuous Generic Fantasy atmosphere is a deliberately constructed facade of business-as-usual over a howling void of nihilistic uncertainty.

me, thinking that i have at least a base level understanding of botw: :)
blue, about to write a 1,000+ word essay that is going to completely revamp my understanding of the game and interpretation of its events: bada bing bada boom
i dont know how you do it. i am incredibly impressed and using all of this for fic inspiration. keep writing
every time someone asks me how i do this shit i have to regrettably inform them that the real genuine answer is that i am fucking insane. my 2 passions in life are writing and video games and the place where the 2 converge fascinates me to no end and i am that special kind of crazy that is capable of latching onto something and not thinking about anything else for 10 years. so. the only thing i have cared about deeply for the last several years of my life has been the way video games are written and constructed. and zelda is one of the most interestingly constructed franchises i have found to date. these games are just like. the absolute perfect story for my brain to work with and i truly do not know who i would be without them. and i am genuinely incredibly grateful that ive been able to build a platform where people like. CARE about what i have to say and take the time to ask me to think about the games because like. i would be doing it ANYWAY but knowing that there are people who actually read my analysis and appreciate the amount of thought i put into this stuff makes me really happy lol
