Heroes for hire
The first tendrils of dawn slithered through the cracks in the blinds, casting a feeble glow over the untidy hotel room. The air had the scent of sex and the lingering aroma of a forgotten fast-food feast from the night before. Akitsu Fenton, or Aki, as she was affectionately called by her husband, lay on the disheveled bed, her naked form a stark contrast against the rumpled sheets. The soft murmur of the city outside did little to disturb her peaceful slumber.
Danny, however, was not as fortunate. His eyes snapped open as the shrill ring of his work phone sliced through the quiet. He groaned, his hand groping for the source of the disturbance. His eyes landed on the devices with the unmistakable bat symbol on the screen. Batman was calling. A rare, early morning job offer from the caped crusader could only mean one thing, it was going to be a big one. Why was a member of the Justice League calling a glorified mercenary like him, simple really despite seemingly having unlimited finances and technology they were lacking the one resource that all law enforcement agencies were lacking, the one resource that truly mattered: manpower.
This has caused the Justice League to reach out to trustworthy freelancers like him, or as they were starting to be known to the public: heroes for hire.
Glancing up at the time and sighing an annoyance Danny pushed his finger to the screen fully intending to silence the call and call Batman back later…. but Batman was a recurring customer, more importantly, a well paying reoccurring customer.
Inhaling he accepted the call
"This better be good," he mumbled into the phone, his voice gruff with sleep.
Batman's crisp, digitally altered voice responded, "Fenton, we have a situation in Gotham. A new player has entered the game, and their methods are… unorthodox. The Justice League requires your expertise."
Danny sat up with a jolt, his hand automatically reaching for his gun. "Gotham, huh?" He looked over at Aki, her face serene even in sleep, the light playing across the curves of her breasts. "Can't say I'm surprised. That city is more curses than most old cities combined do, What's the play?"
Batman's voice remained unruffled, detailing the situation. A series of freeze-related crimes had been plaguing the city, each more brazen than the last. It was clear that they were dealing with someone who had no qualms about leaving a trail of ice sculptures that used to be people. "The Joker's involved, but he's not the one doing the freezing," Batman added, his tone darkening. "It wasn't Victor Fries, he was accounted for at Wayne's R&D, We believe it's an unknown meta with ice manipulation powers. It's too… precise for his usual chaos."
"It's not a War bride," Danny states already known where he was going. "Mine was the prototype for the ice using caster types, and you know how that turned out they can't risk it, there are literally no other ice using ones."
Batman's voice remained calm. "We're aware of that, Fenton. But your experience with Akitsu might provide some insight we're missing."
Danny rubbed his eyes and nodded, even though the Dark Knight couldn't see him. "I'll get Aki up. We're on our way." He hung up the phone, his mind racing. Aki was indeed one of the first of her kind, a powerful ice user, and if someone had managed to create another… things were about to get complicated. He leaned over, gently kissing her forehead.
Her eyes fluttered open, and she sat up, the sheets sliding off her body. "What is it, Danny?" she asked, her voice a whispery purr.
"Gotham," he said, tossing the covers aside and standing up. "We've got a job. Someone's playing with ice, and it's not your usual clown."
Aki's eyes narrowed at the mention of the Joker. She had crossed paths with the madman before, and the memory sent a chill down her spine, colder than the ice she could manipulate. She swung her legs over the side of the bed, picking her G-string off the floor as she stood. The synthskin dress she had worn the night before had been carelessly tossed aside in the throes of passion. She slipped it back on, feeling the cool embrace of the material against her skin as it clung to her curves.
Danny quickly gathered their things, tossing weapons and their clothes into their duffle bags`. Despite the urgency, "Let's see if we can track down Taki," Danny muttered slipping on his sweatshirt "we might need her help."
Aki nodded, her mind already racing with the possibilities. The Joker was unpredictable, but a new ice user was an unknown variable. She felt a twinge of excitement mingle with the cold dread in her stomach. Taki, War bride number 59, her ability to manipulate mist and fog while cooling down and providing extra humidity for her to pull from was a good compliment for her own ice abilities, along with providing excellent concealment and together they could form a formidable team.
They quickly got dressed, Danny in his usual attire of combat boots, cargo pants, and a loose t-shirt that did little to hide the bulk of his muscles, while Aki slipped into a fresh synthskin dress in a sleek black that was as much a part of her identity as the ice that danced in her veins. She fastened her underbust corset and attached her weapon harness with the ease of long practice. Her pistol and knife felt comforting against her.
As they descended to the lobby, the receptionist from the night before looked up from her desk with a scandalized gasp. Her eyes bulged at the sight of the weapons and Aki's revealing dress, and she opened her mouth to unleash a lecture on decency. However, before she could utter a syllable, Danny raised a hand and conjured a small ectoball between his fingers. It hovered there, crackling with spectral energy, an unspoken threat that sent a chill down the woman's spine. She visibly swallowed her words, her eyes widening in horror as she took in the unmistakable stench of ozone that accompanied the spell.
Akitsu offered the receptionist a small smile, her eyes glinting with mischief. "I'm actually more covered up than Power Girl, you know." The woman's face turned a shade of purple that would put a plum to shame, and she sputtered before turning away, muttering to herself about the state of the world today.
The sudden silence was pierced by the sound of footsteps from the back room. The manager, a dapper older gentleman with a meticulously trimmed mustache, emerged with an exasperated sigh. He took in the scene, his gaze lingering on the floating ectoball before settling on the two of them. "Ah, Mr. and Mrs. Fenton," he said, his tone a mix of resignation and amusement. "It seems you've had quite the… energetic night."
"Sebastian." Danny greeted, his hand closing around the ectoball and extinguishing it, his honest greeting tinged with annoyance. "I apologize for threatening your employee but we have a job to get to and no time for a lecture right now."
The manager, Sebastian, chuckled and gently pushed the receptionist, who was still frozen in shock that the fact they're upstanding manager would know the names of these… Delinquents, and her rolling chair out of the way taking over her job and starting the checkout process. "It's quite alright, Mr. Fenton. I've learned to expect the… unorthodox from you and your lovely wife." He nodded at Aki, who returned his gesture with a cool nod.
"Besides," he continued, sliding the check-out paperwork across the counter, "the Justice League has a standing tab here. Your usual room service and… other expenses… have been taken care of." He winked at them knowingly, " may I inquire where your job is taking you this time? That is as long as it's not confidential?" Sebastian questioned waiting for Danny to sign and hand back the papers.
"Gotham," Danny stated bluntly as he finished signing the papers and handing them back "can't go into details."
"My condolences." Sebastian stated, he been to the absolute shithole of the city once to visit his cousin, Alfred pennyworth, and vowing never to return, even for family.
"We'll manage," Danny replied with a smirk, after handing back the paperwork he had started pulling various weapons out of the duffel bag and tucking them into they're respected holster or sheath, tucking a gun into the back of his pants. "We've faced worse."
Aki nodded solemnly, her mind racing through the various combat scenarios that might await them in Gotham. She knew that the Joker was involved, which meant chaos and unpredictability. The thought of facing a new enemy with ice powers, however, had her feeling a mix of curiosity and trepidation. Was it possible that there was another like her out there? Someone who had also been created for war and discarded?
As they stepped out into the early morning air, the chilly breeze caressed Aki's bare skin, making her shiver slightly. Danny noticed and chuckled, wrapping his arm around her waist. "Cold, Aki?"
she only smiled at him, they both knew that the cold never bothered her, side effect of her abilities. And Danny himself only wore his sweatshirt and jacket for the extra pocket they offer.
The journey to find Taki was a swift one. Danny's contacts in the supernatural underworld had informed him of her last known location, a dive bar on the outskirts of the city that catered to those with less than legal powers. As they approached the dimly lit building, the sound of raucous laughter and the smell of cheap whiskey wafted through the air. The neon sign flickered, casting an eerie glow over the alleyway that was littered with the detritus of a thousand forgotten battles.
Aki felt a twinge of excitement at the prospect of seeing her…sister? Cousin? Extended family again. They had shared many battles and and parties in the past. Taki's misty abilities had always been a perfect counterpart to her own icy powers. Together, they could create an impenetrable fog that could both conceal their movements and amplify the chilling effects of Aki's attacks. Danny pushed open the heavy door to the bar, and the sound of a jukebox playing a bluesy tune filled their ears.
Inside, the bar was dimly lit with a thick layer of smoke hanging in the air, making it difficult to see past the first few tables. The patrons were a motley crew of metahumans and magical beings, all casting wary glances in their direction. The air was thick with the scent of various magics and the faint metallic tang of fear. The bartender, a burly troll of a man, looked them up and down but said nothing.
Walking up to the bar Danny placed a $50.00 bill down on it in front of the bartender "looking for a girl called Taki, long brown hair and Gray eyes, dressed like her," his head jerking to Akitsu "minus is the tattoo."
The bartender took the bill without looking up and slid them two shots of whiskey "she's in the back, last booth on the left."
Downing their shots they approached the booth, Aki's heart racing with anticipation. As they rounded the corner, Taki looked up from her drink, her gray eyes lighting up with recognition. "Danny! Aki!" She threw her arms around them both, her embrace warm and genuine. She was dressed almost identically to Aki, her synthskin dress a shade of gray that matched her eyes, just less…proportional in certain areas and her weapon harness adorned with a dagger.
Danny slid into the booth, pulling Aki down beside him. "Taki, we've got a situation in Gotham," he began, his voice serious. "Someone's playing with ice, and it's not the Joker. We need you."
Taki's expression grew contemplative as she took a sip of her drink, her eyes flicking between Danny and Aki. "What's the pay?" she asked, her voice a soft purr that seemed to coil around the words like the mist she could summon.
Instead of answering Danny grabbed a pen out of one of his pockets and a nearby napkin and jolting a number down on it, before folding it over and sliding it over to docking, Taki picked it up and made the mistake of sipping her drink while looking at the number, her surprise caused her to inhale some of her drink as she started coughing.
"Standard freelance rules apply, that'll be your cut," Danny said to after a few seconds "now you in or out?'
"Who the FUCK is paying you? Bruce Wayne?" Taki hissed quietly like an angry cat, giving an appreciative nod to Akitsu who had gotten up to pat her on the back.
Danny chuckled, "Let's just say it's someone who's got deep pockets and really doesn't like seeing his city turned into a giant ice rink."
Taki wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, her eyes gleaming with greed. "You had me at 'Gotham'," She stood up, the slit in her dress revealing the curve of her toned thigh" let's roll."

The one thing I wish ao3 would do is allow you to make a your own blacklist, you don't like ( insert tag here), put on the list and you'll never see it. you don't like (enter ship here) put it on the list and you will never see it, you don't like (insert fandom here) and you will never see it as you scroll.
"i'm tired of seeing-" use your filters.
"but there was an icky ship-!" use your filters.
"i don't like that tag-" use your filters.
don't like what you're seeing? use. your. filters.

The warband (party) system
Just me posting some technical junk for my upcoming Danny phantom X the gamer fan fiction that absolutely nobody asked for
Enforced by the game system the Positions within the war band are:
Goons:
goons are the lowest rank of the war band and what they lack in..... Basically everything they make up for in pure numbers, use them as shock troops to soften up the enemy, hide one in the dark corner to hold an objective, use them as pack mules to loot the battlefield or as meat Shields for your more important members, if a member of your warband has to be sacrificed let it be a goon.
Henchman:
Henchman are technically considered the lieutenants within the war band answering to the leader carrying out their orders while passing on orders to the goons. The biggest difference between henchmen and goons is that the henchmen are actually good at some things be it getting into the fight and chopping stuff up in melee or being a literal wall to hold objectives to standing back and raining down spells or projectiles from the rear.
Champion:
champion are the strongest member of the war band being both heavily armed and armored stepping in were brute force and violence is the only answer.
Leader:
Leaders should be self-explanatory, they are either beings of great power or a great wealth of untapped potential, they can either be incredible damage dealers or they can inspire their underlings into great feats.
The leader should be protected at all costs, while it is not guaranteed but if the leader goes down in battle there's a large chance the warband will route and scatter
Familiars:
familiars are a unique position within the war band, while some are combatants the most most familiar is providing sort of strategic edge, reconnaissance, traps or another forms of utility.

Honestly my head cannon for this would be Cass, mostly due to a short story start I read a bit back where Wes Weston was actually cursed and he found a way to undo it but you don't necessarily untie curses but you just cast them to the wind and of course not only did it lock on to Cass, it like doubled its strength.
Blanked
Some time anomalies happen and a bat member is completely erased from existence. That bag only realizes this when none of their family know who they are. I’m talking completely erased like they were never born. No media coverage, no pictures (exiting pictures altered), no birth records or anything. Not their family, not their friends, not fellow heroes, not even their parents (depending on who it was, default is Bruce and Alfred though) remember them. All except one. Phantom, who confusedly asks said bat why they are upset. Addressing them by name. (because he has a time medallion stuck in his chest that makes him immune to time anomalies.)
Danny is just passing by and sees the upset bat and goes “Hey! (Insert bat), what’s going on?” The bat freezes and then practically tackles Phantom like he’s their only lifeline.

Progeny Lost and found
To Amanda Waller.
Considering that you're moving all assets (soldier boy, soldier girl, drones) of the soldier program to your Suicide Squad this report will the last you receive, we do apologize if it gets long, but it will allow us to be thorough.
17 years ago Diana Prince AKA Wonder Woman gave birth to a son at XYZ hospital and the child was seized in a fake villain attack and placed in the soldier program, genetic testing has shown that the child's father is indeed Bruce Wayne AKA Batman, both are known, active and founding members of the Justice League.
For the first four years not much is to be reported other than calm mind.
However at five years old we successfully taught him how to read and that seemed to "click" something in his mind, he started reading everything we had on hand magazines newspapers books on top of that he also started disassembling and reassembling basically everything and anything he could get his hands on, including our "personal project" to our chagrin. The fact that he seems to understands what he diss/reassembles speaks for enhanced mental abilities. Further testing is required
On top of that he demonstrates greater physical than a child his age should be able to possess we are again chalking this up to genetics considering who his parents are, further testing is required.
At 6 years old we started harvesting blood, stem cell, saliva and hair from soldier boy for cloning considering that the clones won't be viable for several years for the fact that the technology needs to be calibrated for the subject being cloned we suspect that the first successful batch won't be around until the subject is at least nine to 10 years of age, we have also started on physical and mental training.
At 8 years old we can confirm that soldier boy does indeed possess an erratic memory Needless to say for a soldier this is quite good considering that you may not get more than a glance at something in the field. This was confirmed when he rebuilt one of our "personal projects" from scrap and literal garbage we had lying around the the lab, nearly burnt the place down with that ecto blaster.
As for physical abilities he's demonstrating nearly 50% more than what normal children his age should possess, his physical conditioning should only enhance this, biologically his muscles are denser, his bones are stronger, on top of that he also seems to possess not quite a meta level but definitely accelerated healing factor. The limit of this ability requires further testing.
at 10 years of age our theory has been proven correct for both physical and mental abilities, the more we seem to push him the more he seems to grow. no longer is he learning just theory we've also started martial arts training as well as weapon training, he doesn't master a weapon the moment he picks it up but it only takes him a couple minutes have usage to figure out the most effective way to use a weapon be it melee or firearm.
Sad to say it might take another year or two for the first batch of clones. No stable clones have been able to survive outside the birthing tank for more than a few minutes however we believe we found the problem, the Y chromosome in his DNA seems to be unstabilizing all the clones we believe that removing it would stabilize them but it would also make it so that we would no longer have "perfect" clones of soldier boy. The reason behind this is unknown however we believe it is due to his Amazonian DNA.
At 12 years old we have continued physical and mental training however we've also started adding in psychological conditioning fit for a soldier. we have also started swapping out the targets for specialized training dummies that actually bleed when they are cut or shot.
We are also happy to announce that we have our first clone, while we were aiming for the batch of 5, as the accelerated aging evened out it was obvious that only one was capable of higher thought the. other four were terminated. we are planning on keeping them separated until the clone (from here on out shall be known as soldier girl) at least basic knowledge and we finish up running some tests.
Sadly the rest of the report was corrupted however there were two signatures at the bottom of it

Once you finish with enemy within all you need to do is move on to the long war
Xcom EU and EW are considered tutorials for long war
So I finally sat down to play XCOM: Enemy Unknown after years of it staring at me from the dusty corner of my steam library. I knew very little about this game, but I understood that it was Turn-Based Tactics involving an alien invasion and considered difficult.
Starting the game, I noticed a checkbox for playing on Iron Man mode (that is to say, no save scumming allowed).
So obviously I turned that on. >.>;

Diana meets berserker(Hercules)
OK so just hear me out. Somehow (probably through JL dark) the Justice League find out about the Holy Grail war, going to go talk to the masters seeing if they can talk something out they find illyasviel von einzbern and she is less than happy to listen to them, sicks her servant on, them after getting their metaphorical, proverbial and literal teeth kicked in they find out that how the class system works for the servants is that the berzerker in front of them is actually weaker than the original Hercules

I definitely think that shouldn't be limited to amity park, like there's this old service store door on the underpass of a no longer used train bridge you walk into it and on the other side you're walking out of abandoned janitorial closet somewhere in Gotham. Or there's a certain tree that only activates that if you weave in between a bunch of other trees coming up to it and depending on what side you go around you end up somewhere else. go around the left side you end up somewhere in Argentina go around the right you're in Brazil.
As a way to double down on my Make Amity Park More Bizarre agenda, I think there should be buildings that do not exist.
to elaborate: there's a library down the street. the bookcases reach to the towering ceiling. The basement might as well be a maze of archived newspaper and posters plastered over posters. It was built in 1963. The doors are larger than anything and everyone. It was never built.
FentonWorks has a basement that goes down impossibly far– how hasn't it hit the water pipes? The community college has balconies that were never made: you have to crawl out of a window to get to them. Restaurants that were demolished for office buildings exist simultaneously: you use the same door for both and the one you want to arrive in is the one that greets you on the other side. Some shortcuts through town don't make sense.
Amity Park is the most haunted city in the U.S. And so too is it haunted by what it was once, and what it never was.

And of course gods being gods and we all know how they get down they probably think it would be one and then two
"Insert banjo playing" sweet home Alabama
All Father Thor, King of Asgard,
A new ruler of Hel has been chosen, the fearsome King Phantom, defeater of Pariah Dark. It is time for Asgard to prepare to pay the dues required to keep peace between the realms of the gods and of the dead. Bring the terms of your surrender to King’s Phantom’s representative on earth, Daniel James Fenton of Amity Park.
The Noble Scribe of King Phantom,
Ghost Writer
*****
“Okay so let me get this straight,” Tony Stark, Iron Man and Avenger said. “Ghosts are real.”
“Yes.” King Thor Odinson, Asgardian and god of thunder agreed.
“And they’re evil.”
“A bit of an oversimplification, but yes.” Prince Loki Odinson, sometimes villain and would be planet invader, answered.
“And the ghosts have had one ruler, the most powerful ghost in existence. And that new rulers are chosen by combat, meaning that every new ruler is more powerful than the last.”
“Yes, you’ve got the idea.” Thor said looking down at his knees for a moment.
“And since ghosts are so evil and so powerful, that means that their ruler is practically an unstoppable force of destruction.”
“Doesn’t it sound delightful?” Loki asked, to which he received a glare.
“So, for the past 10,000 years, at least, Asgard and plenty of other realms have been paying taxes to the ghost king to avoid a war. A racketeering scheme.”
“I don’t know what a racketeering scheme is but yes, the ghost peace treaty does require that Asgard pay the ghost king gold and magical weapons every century and if we fail to pay that price, then the peace treaty will be broken and Asgard will likely be forfeit.”
“That’s a racketeering scheme!”
“Well then yes.”
Tony pinched the bridge of his nose. It was clear the man’s headache was only growing stronger as he walked through the information the two gods had dumped into his lap this morning. Thor and Loki both had rushed into his lab and started babbling about world ending threats and how they might possibly be absolutely screwed.
“So, now there’s a new king. Which means a new peace treaty has to be signed.” Tony said the words ‘peace treaty’ in the same way he’d say ‘nuclear bomb’ or ‘Steve Rogers’.
“I thought you said it was a racketeering scheme?” Loki asked.
“Shut it.” Tony hissed.
“A new treaty must be signed.” Thor repeated, trying to keep the three of them on track.
“And since the last king Pariah Dark was so powerful that he made the entirety of Asgard tremble, you’re pretty sure this new king, Phantom, is probably worse.”
“Pariah Dark had the power to suck entire planets into the afterlife, destroying them,” Loki said looking at his nails. “Stands to reason that a ghost powerful enough to defeat him could do much, much worse.”
“Right. Fantastic!” Tony practically shouted.
“I don’t think anything about this is fantastic.” Thor admitted, he was ignored.
“And according to you Asgard has been paying the ghost tax for both their realm and ours since we were under Odin’s protection. And since Hela and Sutur destroyed your entire planet and your entire people are refugees, now we have to figure out how to keep an ultrapowerful ghost from wiping out our home without any way of paying him.”
“Technically we don’t know if Phantom is a ‘he’.” Loki pointed out unhelpfully.
“The letter literally says he’s a king!”
“Could be a title. What do the dead have need for gender?”
“This is not the point of this discussion,” Thor cut in before an argument about the usefulness of gender and the concept of a female king burst forth. “We’re here to figure out how to make peace with King Phantom without resulting in a war that would destroy our world and our peoples.”
“We don’t even have Earth’s mightiest heroes anymore.” Loki said, referencing the painful results of the civil war and the Accords.
“We’re fucked.” Tony decided.
“Yes,” Thor agreed. “We probably are.”

I can absolutely see it being a slur, a particularly bad one at that
Canon Danny Phantom Facts by the Episode Pt. 5
Season 1, Episode 5: Splitting Images
Sidney Poindexter:
Spends his afterlife getting bullied
The bullies in his afterlife are self aware and act similar to how they were in the 1950's
Has laser eyes
Is the first to refer to Danny as a "the Halfa" and it kind of seems to be a slur?

Amity Parker Don't understand other Hero cities.
And started a massive pilgrimage to Amity Park.
It all started when a few people from Amity Park went on a field trip to other hero cities and got very confused pretty fast. - What do you mean people die here so often in hero fights? - What do you mean by buildings getting destroyed and not fixed? (blob Ghost do that all the time, they seem to love it!) Are your hero not doing their job!!!?
At first, the people of Gotham, Metropolis, Coast City, Bludhaven, or Dakoto City were pissed, but after the people of Amity Park just said they should stay a few weeks in their city, they would notice it. After one week in the new city,  most people moved out of their city to Amity Park. While this city had once a week has a world-ending threat, that threat seems to just have fun with the child hero in a fight. And those people helped them. The Victims of Scarecrow actually got help from the Master of Fear Fright Knight, who fixed their minds.
Number 1 rule in Amity Park - Don't feed the tiny cryptid Fenton after 10 p.m.; the last time we had winter in the summer was because of that. - Yes, they are fangs, and they are real. Don't try to let yourself be bitten. When he slept, the last one almost lost their hand. + The other Hero in their cities didn't take long to notice it, that they have significantly fewer people living in their cities. Like most of their cities, they lost 30–50% of their civilians! And no one seems to want to tell them where they are, as more civilians are leaving!

Danny is haunting the watchtower. No regrets. He was just so fed up with the lack of action.
Seriously they had a whole bs site claiming they were pro meta and basic rights. Like it had links on where to “report” breaches. All utter bs.
Nothing about the anti ecto acts. He personally called in and reported it many times. And nothing happened. As the king. He had a duty to his ppl. Now he didn’t want to hurt anyone or declare war.
But he will absolutely in the middle of their meeting change the screens of the computer to the site to report breaches. Mayhaps add bloody green text seemingly dripping in all cap LIARS and maybe YOU IgNORED US.
Was it a tad much to leave a stabbed article about the anti ecto acts in the middle of the meeting room ozzing ectoplasm. Or maybe the whispering in the ears of anyone who slept here.
He certainly didn’t think so.
So now the screens occasionally flickered the failed experiments of the GIW. Sure no one’s been killed yet. But the justice league didn’t know that. Danny is great at breaking them out.

The only valid close relathionship interpretation between Jason Todd and characters who're canon minors is them having the Peter B and Miles dynamic. That is to say, gruff but deep down sweet superhero gets bullied into bringing his sweetness out by kid hero who's infinitely cooler than him and they become a mix between found siblings and him being an additional parental figure to them
"B-BUT AUS MAKE IT OKAY TO-"Nope!!Nuh huh!!!Nada de nada!!!!Jason canonically kills pedophiles so go project your groody little age gap f*tish somewhere else bitch♡Try Slade,we all know he's into that :)
