#94 “I’m still here, see me”

Danny Fenton dies in the portal, and the boy is left a weak ghost, unable to be seen by humans, barely able to lift objects, and unable to leave the house. He tries his hardest to get his family’s attention, to tell them he’s still there, but in their grief over his loss, they fail to notice his presence.

Though on Halloween night, through the excess ectoplasmic energy from the Fright Knight’s invasion, Danny becomes visible temporarily.

Prompt #93 “Leave me to die here”

Maddie knew her son wasn’t going to last much longer, and she didn’t want to leave him to die alone like this. But they had a mission to accomplish, so she laid him in the snow, promised him that she’d come back for him when it was all over, and left.

This is more of a ‘build your own story around this small thing’ kinda prompt. I do actually have more to it in my head but it’s gonna stay there.

Maybe I’ll give a gold star to whoever gets the closest to it though.

Prompt #92 “For your own good”

The Fentons know that their son is half ghost, is Phantom, but they never tell him. They’ve always made sure to keep him safe from other hunters as well as their own inventions, sometimes coming up with something that could help him too. They take great care to keep him from getting suspicious of them knowing his secret.

One day they learn that the GiW have plans to wipe the entire state of Illinois clean of ectoplasm, and The Fentons have only one sure idea how to keep Danny safe from that. 

They know that he’s scared of them, that he fears what they might do to him if they ‘found out his secret’, so they scare him. They attack him in bed one night, yelling angrily at him, saying they hate him, ‘trying’ to capture him, and he runs off in panic and fear.

He flees to a city named Gotham, a place almost as ecto-contaminated as Amity was. He ends up in the Wayne manor garden an emotional mess, crying himself to sleep curled up in a tarp he found on the street.

Alfred brings him inside, mistaking him for Tim or Damian, and tucks him into bed.

Prompt #91 “You don’t know it’s Goodbye”

Thanks to the Red Huntress getting in a lucky shot on the ghost boy during the previous fight, Danny Fenton found himself crying and bleeding out in his mothers arms, only with Maddie unaware that her son has seconds left to live.

I just had an idea for a DP prompt that i think you might like:

Jack and Maddie find out Danny is a half-ghost, and they don’t hate him but do want to “cure” him of his affliction.

But they don’t know how to do that, so they hand him over to the GIW. They have more resources, and they’re government-supported so they must be good, right? It sucks to be away from him, but the GIW insisted on separation, and it’ll definitely all be worth it when they get to see their boy healthy and happy again.

…yeah, no. It doesn’t go at all like how they imagined. They only realize the true depths of their mistake far later, and are horrified at what the GIW did.

Prompt #90 “Still Alive”

The GIW catch Phantom, but they don’t bring him to any lab to be experimented on, they drag him into the woods and torture him there on the grass.

They beat him up, kicking him, stabbing him. They slice open his abdomen enough so his internal organs spill out onto the ground.

Then they leave and he lays there, still, for hours.

When the search party looking for Danny Fenton finds him, they see a small black haired boy, unmoving, with insects crawling in and out of every opening, feasting on his flesh.

Maddie has to look away immediately, someone else who is able to take the sight has to confirm if it’s him.

After transporting the body to the morgue and getting rid of every bug they could reach, the mortician examines the body.

Only to find that, through it all, the boy is still alive.

Prompt #89 “Death by beheading… Or not?”

Jack tracks down Phantom at night in the city. Once he finds the ghost he sneaks up on it and slashes the side of it’s neck hard with his new anti-ghost axe.

Phantom falls to the ground screaming trying to hold it’s wound with it’s hands.

Jack lands a second strike in the same place, but it didn’t do much more damage to the neck since the ghost’s hands were in the way, though both hands were severely injured from the blow.

The ghost screams again and removes it’s hands from it’s neck to cradle them gently to it’s chest.

Red spotted green is spilled everywhere.

A ring of light forms around Phantom’s waist, splitting into two and revealing Jack’s human son right before he can bring the axe down a third time.

Jack freezes with his weapon poised above his head, but he drops it beside him and runs away in horror. When he finally realizes that he just left his son writhing in agony on the concrete, he goes back only to find that Danny is no longer there.

Two weeks later Danny comes back home with scars on his neck and hands.

Prompt #88 “Free”

The Fentons have finally managed to catch Phantom.

Danny has now survived weeks of horrible experiments and torture at the hands of his own parents.

One night after Jack went to bed and Maddie was still down in the lab running tests on samples, she hears sobbing coming from Phantom’s cell and walks over to investigate. She finds the ghost crying about how it just wants to go home, how it’s scared, how it just wants to see it’s mom and dad again.

Maddie can’t help but imagine her son in place of this specter in a cage: Danny kidnapped by some unknown people, alone and scared and hurt, pleading to go home. Out of guilt she lets Phantom free and it almost immediately zooms into the portal, free once again.

Upon entering the Ghost Zone, Danny decides to, instead of taking refuge somewhere to recover, go back through the portal, change back to human, and hug his mom.

Maddie realizes the mistakes she made and hugs him back.

Danny tells her he feels cold, and that it hurts. The next second he collapses to the floor and there is a growing red spot on his white shirt where is stomach is.

Daniel Fenton dies due to his internal injuries moments later.

Prompt #87

“Monster”

A monstrous ghost comes into the Fenton house at night with the intent to destroy and cause chaos.

Danny, as a human, squares off with the ghost, a light tussle, before the ghost realizes it’s outmatched and scurries off.

Maddie saw the whole thing.

She currently had her hand over her mouth in horror, looking into the now-green eyes of her son.

Prompt #86 “Global warming”

The world is heating up, and experts say it shows no signs of cooling down. People in the US, Mexico, and Central America are moving north, but Canada has started guarding their border. People have nowhere left to go.

But the Fentons have a plan: they’ve built a machine made to harness the power of a ghosts core for as long as it’s running.

Now they just need to find a high power level ice core ghost.

Their primary target is Phantom, y’know, the self-sacrificial idiot.

Prompt #85 “I saved you”

Maddie had been trapped in a labyrinth chock full of booby-traps along with Phantom, though it’s powers had been temporarily blocked by the new Fenton invention she brought with her.

They brokered a truce, only to last until they made it out of the maze.

Maddie accidentally triggered one of the traps, which set off an explosion. Phantom noticed what was happening before she did, and jumped in front of her to hopefully protect her from the blast.

When Phantom jumped on top of her she thought it was attacking her, so she shot it in the chest with her ecto-gun.

It fell over backwards and turned onto it’s side to be in fetal position, showing to her that it had a large chunk of wood skewered in it’s back and was quickly bleeding out.

“I saved you” it whispered, right before going still.

Prompt #84 “Flower smoke”

The Fentons start burning blood blossoms and filling the house with the smoke for ghost proofing purposes overnight.

It was supposed to be harmless to humans.

Jack goes to wake Danny up for school the next morning and finds the body of his son tangled in a blanket on the floor next to the bed.

The body’s skin is a dark sickly purple and covered in red welts and blisters, it’s eyes glassy gray instead of the vibrant blue they were supposed to be.

Prompt #83 “Deaf and Blind”

The Fentons captured Phantom.

When they brought it to the lab, they waisted no time starting their experiments. The first of which had the result of injuring the ghost on such a deep level.

It was put in a ghost proof glass box, there were speakers and lights imbedded in the floor.

The test involved seeing how it would respond to a specific kind of light and a specific sound frequency that were both known to deter ghosts.

Once they turned it on, all Danny could hear was a loud droning screech and all he could see was white. He clutched his ears with his hands and closed his eyes as tight as he could.

It did nothing to stop the pain assaulting his senses.

It felt like whatever was hurting him had stopped, his vision was dark and all he could hear was a quiet ringing.

His throat felt sore, so he had probably been screaming; his legs were shaking, so he let them collapse and he fell to the floor in a heap; he felt that his core was strained, so he let himself revert to human form.

The Fenton parents were horrified when the ghost revealed itself to be their son, devastated by what they had just done to him.

He slowly realized that he couldn’t hear or see anything, that he was bleeding from his ears.

His parents had deafened and blinded him.

Maddie rushed over to him to try and comfort him. At first he thought she was Jazz come to rescue him, but she guided his hand to feel her short hair and goggles around her neck.

He cowered back into the corner of the box, frantically begging for them to stop, even though he couldn’t hear his own voice.

She tries to tell him that they won’t hurt him anymore by hugging him and and rubbing his back and kissing his forehead.

Prompt #82 “I can still come back”

The Fentons found out that a ghost was possessing their son.

They bring him to the lab and force him through the newly improved Fenton Ghost Catcher to separate the evil specter from Danny.

When he passed through they quickly locked up the ghost in a containment unit then went over to tend to their son.

But he wasn’t moving, his eyes were closed and his chest lay still. He wasn’t breathing. Maddie rushed to check his heartbeat, putting her ear to his chest.

But she couldn’t hear anything.

They were too late. He was gone.

Filled with grief, they decided the best thing to do was to lay him to rest. The Fentons had a giant furnace in the lab that they could cremate him in.

The ghost was horrified, it begged them not to do this, it told them that he could still come back, he could merge back as long as his body was still intact, that he wasn’t really dead.

It sobbed and pleaded and screamed for them not to burn him, to at least just bury his body whole. It called them ‘mom’ and ‘dad’.

They didn’t listen.

Prompt #81 “Baby Vampire”

The Fenton parents are monster hunters.

One night they left their daughter home with a babysitter while the two of them went hunting in the woods.

They found a vampire camp. Tents posted up and a campfire burning in the middle.

The strangest part was that there was a baby boy playing with sticks and rocks near one of the tents. The vampires must have kidnapped the poor thing! And the boy was so pale, they must have been feeding off of him!

So, they attacked the camp, set fire to the tents, killed all the vampires, and took the child home with them.

They tried to feed him with all sorts of foods, but he was just getting thinner by the day.

They tried feeding him baby food, baby formula, fruits, cooked meats; he ate all of it, but nothing seemed to give him any nourishment.

But after about a week of trying and failing to feed this poor boy, Jack stumbled over something while carrying a knife, dropped said knife, and accidentally cut his hand with it.

Beads of blood rolled down his hand and dripped to the floor, when he lifted his head he saw the boy sniffing the air, his eyes glowing red.

Jack realized the mistake he and Maddie made at that campsite.

Tentatively he walked closer to the baby vampire in a high chair and let his blood drip into the boys mouth.

After that he seemed happy and livelier. Jack talked with Maddie about the baby. The boy hadn’t shown any aggression while with them, he seemed harmless so far; so they decided to take him in and continue to take care of him.

After all, they did kill his family, it was the least they could do to accept him into theirs.

They named him Daniel, Danny for short.

They raised the little vampire as if he was their own, but hid his monstrous nature from everyone, including himself.

They infused his human food with blood, so he wouldn’t know what he was really getting his nourishment from.

He grew up believing he was human. Until he turned fourteen, then everything went downhill.

Prompt #80 “Ghost(zone) town”

Amity Park is a human town that resides in the ghost zone, one of the last.

But being an island full of the living in the realm of the dead is dangerous. Though lucky they have the Fentons, a family of ghost hunters and inventors to help shield the town from ghosts, exterminating whatever vermin manage to wiggle their way in.

But what happens when one of the boys in the family becomes one of those vermin?

Basically Amity is an earth town that got sucked into the GZ centuries ago, but they managed to survive and advance to the modern age of technology. The Fenton family is actually like, maybe five household families, but they’re all related, and all in the ghost hunting business.
