Flashers are sensitive to light just before they manifest- they'll spend time in dark spaces and even get migraines from lights that are too bright.

Shades are the opposite- up to a few days before manifesting, they'll become hyper aware of every shadow and dark spot, making it hard to concentrate on things like reading if there's even a faint shadow cast over the page. they turn the lights all the way up to eliminate as many shadows as possible
