Maybe someone else would have been upset to see how little they owned in the world, but it made no difference to you. The tunic on your back, an extra one to swap out for cleaning, a shawl, and a pair of sandals. That was all you had, that was all you needed, not much to fill your new quarters, modest as they were. Only let you get accustomed to your duties all the quicker.
You held no melancholy at having been sold into the service of another, it was the story of your life and had happened before. You had no doubts that it would happen again. Instead, you focused on learning the layout of the new villa that would be your home, on learning the moods of your new Dominus and praying to the Gods that he was not heavy handed with his slaves.
You’d been purchased by none other than Marcus Acacius, the General of the army of Rome.
Getting used to being in his presence took great effort, meeting his gaze was akin to being struck by lightning. He had the unique power to make your stomach roil like waves, but it wasn’t always an entirely unpleasant feeling. He was older, his hair streaked with gray and his face lined with age but it did nothing to diminish his beauty, or his prowess. You could almost believe he was a marble statue, an Emperor of the past, come to life. He’d caught your eye instantly.
Months passed, then a year, and you did indeed learn his moods. You learned all about his needs and did well to anticipate his wants, so much so that eventually, he had you follow him around like a shadow. Your prayers had been answered, although his moods could get quite dark, he never raised his hand to anyone in his service. He had no need to. He could correct any misstep with a look. There was a cloud that loomed over him though, an intensity, an air about the man of bottled energy. Any words he did speak were short, and cut to the heart of the matter and despite the fact that he never hurt you or the others, you thought it might only be a matter of time before someone got the brunt end of his misplaced wrath.
“He has been away from the battlefield for too long, pay him no mind. Do your duties, and he will settle.” One of the older women in the house noticed the way you wring your hands at his dark temperament, seeing her unbothered by it did much to calm you.
You didn’t notice it at first, but more and more often you felt his eyes linger on you. Felt him follow as you set the table with his meals, when you helped him dress in the morning, more still when you helped him with his night time rituals. He was unabashed and unrelenting, his eyes traveling the length of you, lingering on the swell of your breasts when you stood before him, on your backside when you walked away. You knew the look, had seen it in countless men in the houses you’d served before. You’d seen on the boy that served with you when you were both coming to the age of such things, when young men stretched and grew overnight, and girls flowered, breasts blossoming and blood coming at the turn of the moon. You had seen it in the young man that had taken your chastity, fumbling at your tunic when everyone had gone to sleep.
At first it had shocked you, not because of some notion of propriety or disgust, this was something that happened in every house. The Dominus was there to be served, no matter what they wanted, it came with your station in life, what shocked you, was how welcome his gaze was. How much you relished his heated stare, how much you wanted him to look at you, always. He’d been the object of every heated fantasy you’d had since stepping foot in the house but you’d been under the impression that he was a solitary creature, uncaring for the company of anyone, except his hounds, two great big beasts that he doted on. He never pressed the matter however, and so you contented yourself with your dreams.
-
He’d been gone most of the day, leaving you to help the other attendants with their duties, and the time passed quickly, and with the moon rising you thought it best to go to sleep–trusting that by this hour, surely he’d be staying put. With your own clothes washed and hanging to dry for the morning, you settled into bed. It was not to last however, one of the older women came through not long after you’d undressed and gotten into bed and announced that he’d arrived, looking for you.
“God’s be damned.” You swore under your breath, “Gratitude, I will see to him shortly.”
You had no choice but to put on one of the damp tunics, hissing at the frosty touch but running off to tend to him just the same.
With a light knock to announce your presence, you entered his private chambers.
“Apologies Dominus, I had thought you would be gone until the morning.” You bowed your head in deference to him, “Shall I fetch food and wine? Or will you be going to sleep?” His eyes were narrow slits, fixed on your body. You looked down to where he stared and noted that the wet fabric left nothing to the imagination. The dark patch of hair between your legs was clear as day, as was everything else. “Apologies Dominus, I had washed them when I thought you would be gone.” You stood there, the room pregnant with tension as he looked his fill. After what felt like hours, he looked up to your face and the expression made your nipples harden, a fact he did not miss.
“No, Girl. I am not hungry.” He set about undressing and you hurried to help him, doing your best to keep your touch from lingering too long. “I will cleanse and go to sleep. Snuff out some of these candles, and be off to bed.” His voice was low, and it opened a river between your thighs, the arousal for him so sharp it ached.
“Yes Dominus.” You did as he asked, leaving only a couple of candles burning near his bed, and leaving him there. You were just closing the door to your quarters when you realized his basin had not been filled, so you ran back to make sure he had the water he needed. It would have to be cold at this hour.
This time, you did not knock, hoping that he’d still be preoccupied enough that you could just slip in, fill his basin and slip out.
There was a slick, rhythmic noise that greeted you, along with a low, guttural groan. His chamber was darker without as many candles but the sight that greeted you was clear as day, and would forever be burned into your mind. Him, bathed in candlelight, his cock thick and shiny with his pearly arousal.
His strength could never be denied, but like this, with his arm flexing with each long stroke, his muscles glinted. You’d seen all manner of people nude in your service, there was no shame in it. The human body was a work of art and growing up and giving into desires meant you’d seen men nude and ready to rut, but this was something else. The young men you'd been with were callow boys. This was a man.
You stood there, frozen, and aching with an emptiness you hadn’t felt this keenly in so long.
He felt you then, and looked up to see you watching him and before you could say anything he focused on the place so clearly visible through the wet fabric between your legs and moaned a filthy moan. You didn’t know whether to drop the jug of water and run, or mount him like you would a wild horse. You bit your lip, willing him to beckon you forth to him.
“Did you come back just to torment me, girl? Or would you lend a hand?” He watched your face, letting you decide what you wanted, you put the jug down and walked towards him.
“I live to serve you, Dominus.” His brow furrowed with every step you took until his face tipped up to look into your eyes.
“Take that off–” He grunted the last word, squeezing his cock in his fist while you obeyed. “Put your foot right here.” He gestured to the spot beside his thigh, and you did. “Spread it open. I want to see it.” He watched your sex, his mouth opening in a silent ‘O’ when you complied. “Are you wet for me, girl?” He sped up, fucking his fist in earnest.
“Yes Dominus.” You slipped your fingers down, dipping them inside for a moment before showing him. He moaned again and your heart felt like a hummingbird in your chest. He grabbed at your fingers with his other hand and shoved them into his mouth, eyes closed and groaning around them and it was almost too much.
“Take it Dominus, take me.” You whispered, watching his rapturous gaze with unwavering desire. You had no time to think, because within a second, he was up and pushing you down onto his bed, settling between your spread thighs. His sex hung heavy, an angry red and for a moment your stomach dropped imaging it inside you.
“This will be quicker than I would wish it to be,” He grasped himself in hand, almost trembling as he lined himself up and sunk inside with one, quick thrust. “Gods above, girl, this little cunt was made for me.” He couldn’t hold himself back or give you time to adjust to his size, instead he set a brutal pace, and you held on, with arms around his neck and legs high on his hips for dear life.
Your fingers ached with how tightly they gripped the curls at the base of his skull. You pulled him closer, needing to feel his weight as he stretched you open on his length, over and over, making everything bounce with the force of it. He was right about it being quick though, a handful of pumps was all it took for him to seize up, one hand palming your breast as he seized with a growl. You felt it, the spurt of him deep inside.
“It is a gift, my gift.” He watched himself, hissing with discomfort as he pulled himself out. “My seed, just for you.” His breath came in pants as he drew himself out, softened and spent and you were struck again by his beauty. With the flush of exertion blooming on his cheeks, and the rare smile on his lips, you couldn’t help but mirror the expression, even as your own climax slipped away with every passing second. “Your turn, now I must see pleasure on your face.” He huffed out the words before laying on his side to your right, resting his head on one hand to gain a better view of you spread out beside him.
His fingers found the source of divinity between your legs.
“Spread those pretty thighs nice and wide for me, girl, I would have access to all of you.” He spoke low, pressing his lips to your temple as his fingers used the slip of his own mess to stoke the fire spreading through your veins. “So lovely.”
The reverence in his tone was so at odds with the confidence in his fingers, his skill was no tawdry thing and within a few moments the euphoria was so close you could taste it. You turned your face to him, silently begging for his mouth and he obliged, his kiss sweet as summer wine and all at once the wave crested. Your legs closed of their own accord, but this only bolstered him to slip two fingers inside, pumping through his seed and your liquid desire, laughing softly at the way you clutched at his arm.
All of the times before, had been a jest. It was hard to know if anything you felt before could even be called pleasure.
“Can you walk?” He pressed his lips to your shoulder, lowering them until he took a nipple into his mouth. You nodded.
“Yes Dominus.” He placed a final kiss to the soft skin of your breast, the whiskers on his face tickling you.
“Very well, off to bed.” The smile was gone, but it was replaced with a sleepy, satisfied look, one that you were sure would be gone in the morning.
“Yes Dominus.” You rose, on shaky legs, grabbed your damp tunic, and slipped out of his chambers.

Ex-Sneaky Link!JJ Maybank x Kook!Reader
After months of hooking up with JJ in secret, you both began developing deep feelings for each other, but when his friends, Kie especially, learn of your relationship and plot on it's downfall JJ leaves you reeling and confused as he enters a relationship with his best friend leaving you to wonder what you did to push him away so quickly. Unbeknownst to you however. the blonde was struggling more than he let on, wanting nothing more than to go his own path but feeling trapped with those who used to make him feel free. The only person he can think of now that makes him feel as open as he once did is.... you.
Warnings: cheating, mentions of addiction, fighting, lying, and general angst. No happy ending(yet). This Chapter is the end of part 1 of “Oh, It’s You”. I have some plans for more, but I wanna work it out before I "promise" it.
Word Count: 6.7k
It took me a while to get this part out because it is a finale of sorts and I kept thinking of stuff that could be fixed or changed. I think I got it how I want it now so please lmk what y’all think.
~~~~
When JJ woke up surrounded by your scent in your bed with you lying beside him, it felt like he was floating. If it weren’t for his throbbing headache, he would have thought it was a dream. You looked cozy, snuggled under a different blanket, your head peacefully lying on a different pillow, clearly trying to keep your distance. But you were facing him, and he thought you looked beautiful like this.
On instinct, his hand moved up to drag a piece of hair out of your face, caressing your cheek slightly as he watched you breathe in deeply, stirring from your peaceful sleep. His head pounded still, but his smile grew as your eyes fluttered open, staring up at him like nothing was wrong. Like this was morally correct.
“Goodmorning,” He whispers, looking into your sleep-riddled eyes, reminding him of all the nights you two spent together in his bed. “You look absolutely gorgeous. You have no idea how much this means to me.”
Your heart ached as you looked into his eyes, a sweet smile growing on his face while he let his eyes bounce between yours.
“Goodmorning, Jay.” You try to keep a steady, trained voice, shifting to get up as JJ pulls back slightly shocked. He thought everything would be okay now, his heart sinking as you shifted to get out of the bed. His eyes linger on you as you make your way to your bathroom door.
“Do you still want me to keep my distance?” He asks, his voice shaking with nerves, halting your hand on the doorknob.
“I think that’s for the best, yeah, you’re with Kie and-“
“Come on y/n, I know you know that if you say the word-“ JJ doesn’t say the rest, watching how you turn to him with anger written all over your face.
“How could you say that?” You snap, staring at him as he makes his way out of your bed and over to you.
“Because you’re the one I want, y/n, you always have been,” JJ sighs, stepping closer to you slowly like someone approaching a wounded animal, “Because you make me happier than anyone ever has.”
“If this were the other way around again, would it be that easy to just up and leave me? How could I ever trust that you won’t get bored with me again?” You snap, staring at his confused face. You were deflecting, you knew that, you wanted to hear these words for so long, but everything was different now.
JJ could never know about your past.
“What, no, of course not.” JJ sounded angry at the thought, “You can trust me, you know me.”
“Do I? Cause right now I don’t think I do.” You avoid his eyes as you slowly start to pace in front of him. Thinking of all the horrible ways he could react to what he doesn't know.
“What are you talking about, y/n? You know damn well I would be loyal to you.” His eyes find yours for only a second before you’re avoiding them again.
“How do I know that? You weren’t the first time.” You snap, finally walking past him, avoiding any physical contact. You couldn’t look at him without all the horrible things he could say when he finds out swimming through your mind.
“Yes, I was! We weren’t even really together, and I was loyal to you.”
“Just because you didn’t fuck anyone else doesn’t mean you weren’t disloyal, choosing Kie and your friends over me makes you disloyal in my eyes, you led me on and made me think something was going to happen and then up and left me.” You sigh, trying to release all your pent-up emotions without taking them out on him. You stare at JJ with rage-filled eyes, “And now you want me to trust you again?”
JJ stares at you wide-eyed and open-mouthed. He didn’t know what he was supposed to say, what he could say to that. “I didn’t mean to hurt you.” He stuttered out, knowing it was weak but having nothing else.
“Well you did JJ,” You yell, an exasperated look on your face as you turn away from him again, “Look I get it, they were there for you your whole life and I’m not going to tell you to choose because that would be unfair, but I can’t keep acting like this, what we’re doing here isn’t entirely fucked up of us.”
“So what do you want me to do?” JJ asks, his voice so soft and small. You could tell he was truly upset, but you had to push forward, and then maybe you could move on.
“I think you should leave.” You don’t look at him, you stay standing facing away from him, unable to face him.
“If I will never have a real conversation with you ever again after I leave here, then-” He pauses, stepping closer to you as he takes a deep breath, “I need to do something.”
In a split second, his hand is on your shoulder, spinning you around and tugging you close to him. Your eyes find his as his hands grip your waist, your own hands resting against his chest to stay upright, “You can’t.” You whisper, trying to believe your own words despite wanting nothing more than to continue.
“Yes, I can, I’ll do what you say, I’ll leave you alone and just do what I have to do, I’ll avoid you, even at work. I won't step foot in your life again until you ask me to, so please just let me do this.” His pleading eyes lock onto yours, and you know that if you were to say no, he would leave without a fight, and you may never have this opportunity again.
“Okay.” You whisper, his lips so close to yours you could almost feel them on you already, and slowly he leaned in. For a second, it felt like nothing about this was wrong, like you were truly his. His hands were gripping your waist like they were desperate to, and they probably were. His lips were soft on yours, displaying none of his raging want and need for the taste of you, because he wanted, no, needed this one to be right. You felt his tears fall down his cheeks and against yours, his lips separating from yours for only a second before falling back into them faster this time. His breath stutters against your lips as he cries, unashamed and desperately wishing you were two different people who didn’t need to worry about everything that was wrong about them being together.
You break away from the kiss, letting your head fall to his chest as your arms encircle each other. “I’ll find a way to fix this, but for now, goodbye y/n,” He stated simply before unknotting himself from you and turning to take his leave the same way he had come the night before, without looking at you again. Knowing if he saw the look he knew to be in your eyes, he would want to stay forever.
____
JJ avoided not only you but everyone as he wallowed in his self-pity throughout the remainder of the weekend. He hated himself for ever leaving you in the first place, for letting everything get as fucked up as it was. He knew he was an idiot, but this felt different somehow. His phone was full of texts and missed calls, but none of them were from you, so he left them unanswered. When Monday came around, he contemplated calling into Barnes’ office to say he quit and didn’t care if he needed to give a warning, but upon reminding himself that it may be the only way he will ever see you again, he rolled out of bed anyway.
You watched JJ work throughout most of the day, and he watched you; it almost felt calm. A vague sense of acceptance had fallen between you now, like acknowledging that you couldn’t be together yet made it hurt less. But you knew it didn't. The day went by quickly, and the office slowly lost people as they left for their various security details. The calm between you two lasted, and JJ began to hope he could genuinely find a way to fix it.
Until she showed up.
Kie came crashing through the doors like a storm, eyes locked onto you like you had personally wronged her. Because you had.
“Why are you here, and where is JJ?” Kie spat, eyeing you at your desk so intently she had entirely missed her boyfriend in the corner working on a light.
“Kie, what the hell are you doing here?” JJ asked through gritted teeth, slowly walking up behind her, eyeing the few remaining men with no security detail today, who eagerly listened into the conversation.
“Why didn’t you tell me she worked here?” Kie snapped at JJ, causing a scene as necks slowly craned around to see what was up. Mr.Barnes was out today, and you knew if he were here, he wouldn’t stand for this in his lobby, but as you eyed the two in front of you, you couldn’t bring yourself to say anything at all. Like you knew you had no defense.
“I thought you knew, she has worked here for damn near three years Kie.” JJ states simply, “I wasn’t trying to hide it.”
“So you knew when you got the job?” Kie scoffs, “God, you two just can’t stay away from each other, can you? I warned you about her, and you still keep going after her. She’s poison, she ruins people’s lives and then acts innocent like she’s the victim.”
“Kie, you sound crazy, can we please just do this later when I’m done working? I get off in a few minutes.” JJ pleads, seeing your discomfort as you start to sink in on yourself out of embarrassment.
“Why? To protect her?” Kie laughs, a genuine laugh that sends chills down your spine, “You don’t know half of the person she is.” Kie scoffs as she turns to leave. JJ turned to you with pleading eyes, you could tell he had no clue what he was supposed to do in this situation. You gave him a nod in Kie’s direction, surprising yourself and him in one go.
“This isn’t fair to anyone Jay, it doesnt matter who you have feelings for right now,” You start in a whisper so small only JJ could hear, “You’re with Kie, you made a promise to her when you started dating and before anything moves forward with us you need to talk to her.” JJ almost couldn't believe your words as you spoke, you didn't say you two were impossible, you didn't yell at him for embarrassing you, even though you had that right. You understood his mistake, and you were going to let him fix it.
“I am going to fix this for us all,” He said, his voice breathless as he started walking quickly, voice rising slightly, “I promise, I'm gonna fix it.” JJ practically ran away, crashing through the doors and into the parking lot. Of course, as though it was karma for all his wrongdoings to her, Kie had already sped from the lot. A bit of a chase ensued as JJ mounted his bike and raced off in the direction of Kie’s house for what may be the last time in a long and complicated friendship, turned relationship, turned possible hatred.
____
JJ couldn’t even remember the drive there, his mind racing with everything he may need to say. Everything he needed to set straight and apologize for. His heart pounded in tandem with his fist beats on her door, and in what felt like only seconds, she answered. As JJ made his way into her living room, hearing the sound of the door shutting behind him as he turned to look at her, he could tell by the look on her face, she was expecting this conversation to go very differently.
“I wanted to start this by saying I am so sorry,” he started to pace as his excess energy desperately tried to find a place to go, “I genuinly did not mean to hurt you which I have found myself saying a few too many times to a few too many people but I mean it.”
Kie’s eyes darted to follow him, her face shifting, picking up on the way this conversation was inevitably heading. But she stayed silent, letting him continue as she watched him attempt to unravel his anxious web of thoughts.
“When we first became friends, I thought I was in love with you,” JJ started, his breath uneven but his mind certain of the path he was choosing, “But that was before I knew what love felt like. What it feels like not to be able to resist someone, to feel so connected to someone that when you are apart, it hurts.”
JJ saw how Kie’s breath hitched, and his heart ached for her, but he knew he couldn’t continue to hide how he felt to save others. His eyes met hers, and he pushed on, “I shouldn’t have wronged you. I betrayed your trust and hurt you, and I wish I could take that back because you were one of my best friends, Kie, and I ruined that.”
“Did you sleep with her while you were with me?’ Kie asked, tears falling freely down her cheeks as her voice cracked.
“Not like that, no,” JJ breathes, preparing himself to confess what he knew he now had to, “We’ve been talking again, confiding in each other. I slept in her bed and we kissed, but that is as far as it went. She stopped it.”
Kie scoffs with a shake of her head, turning away from him as she tries to process the information he gave her. He didn’t know if he was supposed to continue, but he did anyway, knowing he had to get it done before he backed out.
“I love her, Kie, and I know I should have told you when I started to realize, but I felt so much pressure to be perfect for you.” His voice cracked as he pushed on, standing his ground and talking from his heart like he so rarely did, “You chose me, and I wasn’t good enough. I’m not good enough for either of you, but I should have tried harder to be good enough because it’s up to me to be better.”
“And what?” Kie scoffs, anger and sadness evident in her voice, ‘You can try harder now, but not for me, for her?”
“I didn’t mean for it to sound that way. I know I can’t fix what I have ruined between us, but I don’t want to hurt you.” JJ maintains a soft voice as he continues, “What I mean is when something is right, it will work out no matter how much you go through together, and every time we fight, we both come out worse than we were before. We hurt each other and we never get better, we should be growing and coming back into each other after every argument to fix it, but we don’t, because deep down we both know this is wrong.”
Kie’s face softens as she listens to the sound of his voice. JJ watched her intently as she started to speak again, “You’re right, we’re probably not right for each other, and I have tried to force it for too long, but that does not mean I am wrong about her JJ. I am not trying to hurt you when I say there is a lot you do not know about her, and you can’t love someone who won’t let you know the real them. Be careful with her, and get out of my house.”
Her voice was soft and eerie and stuck in his head as he sped through the roads that would lead him to your house. His head flooded with ideas of what you could be hiding from him, what you could have done that you thought he couldn't know. Various heartbreaking scenarios played behind his eyes as he tried to shove them all aside. He would not let Kie ruin this for him, he wanted the moment he finally got to make you his to be perfect. After so many fuck ups and so many road blocks he could almost taste the happiness he wanted to build with you. And as he turned onto your street, his face broke into a smile, the sight of your house getting closer and closer, and the thoughts of doubt slipping further and further behind.
JJ felt ecstatic, like he was actively riding into his future with you. He allowed himself to imagine a happy life with you, with no distractions and no fucks ups. He would be good to you and your children, he would be better than his father and your father. Everything was lining itself up perfectly, and JJ could feel his smile growing into a full-blown grin as he parked his motorcycle and quickly rounded the house to the side with your window. He scaled the side of your house in record time, not even wasting a second before knocking on the glass panel of your window. JJ hung off the side of your house, eagerly awaiting your acceptance.
Your heart leaped in your chest, making you almost immediately jump up from where you sat on your bed to rush to open the window. The pounding of your heart picked up and stopped you. Everything you wanted for so long was waiting for you. Kept back by only a thin curtain and a weak panel of glass. But for some reason, your hands went clammy and shot back into your chest instead of tugging the window open. Anything could happen now. If you’re right in your assumption, he’s here to tell you he and Kie are over. But if you’re wrong, all the hope you have built up comes crashing down.
And even if he is here to choose you, how long until he finds out everything and learns he doesn’t want you at all?
You paced your room for what felt like hours, but in reality, it was only a minute before you rushed forward to let him into your room and your heart again. Eventually, you could tell him, eventually he would be ready to understand, but now wasn’t the time to drop it on him. And leaving him dangling from your window simply wasn’t an option. JJ fumbled into the room. A storm of excitement and passion empties onto your floor with him as he trips and falls onto your rug with a groan. Popping up almost immediately with a look a joy on his face that drew a smile of your own against your will.
JJ rushed forward, tugging you into him by your hand with a smile and a glint of happiness in his eyes that you had never seen before. How could you ruin this with a confession?
“We need to talk.” His words came out rushed and out of breath, his eyes were filled with worry, but his hand gripped yours softly, soothing the worry that shot through you at his choice of words.
“I talked to her,” He was breathless still, and even though he didn’t say the name, you knew. “She seemed….understanding, hurt, but not as angry as I was expecting.” His breath hit your lips as he spoke, voice so soft it soothed the raging storm of worry and anxiety in your chest. His lips brushed yours lightly, a soft feather-light kiss that conveyed everything his words couldn’t say, a tingle ran up your spine and warmed your chest as your smile grew and broke the intimate moment.
“So what does this mean for us, Jay?” Your lips still caressed his as you spoke, JJ’s hands instinctively tugging you closer to him as though you would turn and run with his heart if he didn’t hold on. His eyes bore into yours, the ocean that swam in them slowly darkening as his pupils started to eclipse it at the look on your face.
“Come with me?” JJ asked, his voice a beg that betrayed his worry and his wish for this to go perfectly.
“Can’t we just stay here?” You ask with a giggle, eyeing JJ in front of you as he watches your face. He was lost in you, and he didn’t care if you could tell. He could feel how close he was to finally having the happiness he had denied himself long ago, and he wasn’t going to run again.
“No, I think this conversation warrants a more important location,” JJ spoke through a smirk, “Don’t you?” He asked teasingly, urging you to take the risk and come away with him into the night.
“And how are we going to get to this mystery location, Maybank?” You tease, rising from your position on your bed to change into more appropriate clothes, intentionally brushing against him in the process. JJ emits a groan from deep in his chest as his eyes follow you across the room, your legs showing in your short nightgown and teasing him further.
“Don’t worry, I have my bike.” Your eyes meet his with a glint of mischief, and he smiles at you, knowing you had missed this. Late nights spent with him, not caring who knew where you were or what you were doing together.
“So were you just going to stand there and watch me change, or were you gonna’ be a gentleman and wait outside for me?” His eyes meet yours, a darker blue than usual and pupils fully blown out, a smirk taking over his mouth.
“You used to like it when I acted improperly for you.” He states matter-of-factly as though it wasn't an entirely inappropriate comment, said so simply. You smiled back at him and wasted no time in dropping your nightgown from your shoulders, revealing your mismatched underwear and bra that practically made JJ drool before quickly covering them again with a simple shirt and loose shorts.
“You’re gorgeous, you know that, right?” Your cheeks flash red as you approach him, taking his hand in yours and meeting his eyes before leaning in to steal his lips into a soft, sweet kiss.
“Thank you, Jay, no one has ever said the things you say to me before.” JJ smiles, your lips still ghosting against his when he tugs you toward the window with him, forcing a sequel from you in your surprise. “Where are you taking me, Jay?” You asked between giggles as he turned to slowly descend the side of your house. His motions halt for a split second, and his eyes shoot up to look at you as you lean out your window, your hair swaying slightly in the wind, reminding him of a fairytale princess residing in her beautiful castle.
“You’ll see,” His voice calm despite the raging storm inside him, “Let me get to the ground first, then follow, I want to make sure you don’t fall.”
“What a gentleman.” You joke, watching him chuckle so softly it was barely audible as he continues his descent. In a matter of seconds, he was eyeing you from the ground, and you were turning to start descending the side, too. You took extra care to sway your hips more than necessary, knowing he would be watching the way your shorts ride up slightly. You laugh to yourself at the feeling of his hands gripping your hips to tug you the rest of the way down as soon as you are within his reach. “I take it back, you are no gentleman.”
You fall into a fit of giggles before he spins you around in his arms, silencing you when his lips crash into yours, demanding your attention. His hands pull you flush into his chest as your hands link themselves behind his neck, tugging him impossibly closer to you. Your back hits the side of your house, forcing a gasp out of your lips, giving him the perfect opportunity to shove his tongue past them, battling you for dominance as his hands roam over your body, gripping your flesh everywhere he can as though he were starved of you. His right hand runs up your abdomen, caressing your chest as it finds its way to your chin, tugging you away from his lips and forcing a whine from you when he drops his lips down to explore your neck. You laugh breathlessly, dragging your hands down and across his broad shoulders before speaking, “Didn’t you have somewhere to take me, Jay?”
JJ groaned against your neck, the taste of you more distracting than he had expected it to be. He pulled back only slightly, catching your lips with his and trapping them in a slow, sweet kiss before pulling away again. “You’re right, we’ll have plenty of time for more of this when we get there.” He took your hand in his to lead you to his bike, where you both quickly mounted. Both missing the times when you spent hours going nowhere together on this seat, your arms latched around him like muscle memory, hands caressing his chest and letting your nails scratch him softly through the fabric of his shirt. The sensation sent shivers down JJ’s spine, his smile wide on his face as he quickly took the turns he knew well, despite having not been there since you two called everything off.
“I know where you’re taking me,” You giggle, nipping at his neck with your teeth as you lean in to whisper in his ear, “You always did love your secret little hideouts.”
“This one more than the others,” He sighed, the feeling of your lips tickling up and down his neck forcing him to slow the speed of his bike to focus, “I haven’t been there since-.”
“Neither have I.” You state matter-of-factly, leaving one final kiss to his cheek before straightening your back to feel the wind against your face, letting him speed up again. The sight of the small, secluded beach area up ahead gave you a jolt of excitement and happiness. Finally allowing yourself to believe that this was actually happening, that this would be your future, and you two could be happy with each other. JJ parked quickly and basically hopped off the bike with excitement, tugging you along with him toward the furthest corner of your small beach, forgotten by the rest of the world. A large alcove created by a vast wall of stone that was once long ago sand under some long-gone human’s feet loomed over you as you approached. The memories of the night he chose them over you flooded your head. This was your spot, where you two would always go when the world was too much for both of you, this spot that shielded you from everything except the other.
“I missed this place,” You sighed, turning to catch those blue eyes with yours, “I missed being here with you.”
“I missed everything about you y/n,” JJ’s voice was so soft you almost couldn’t hear him, he stepped close quickly, grabbing your hand in both of his as he continued, “I want to be with you so badly, I have wanted it ever since we first started….whatever it was that we had back then, I was just too much of a coward to admit it to you, to my friends, and myself. I was wrong to hide you, and I was wrong to up and leave when it got hard. I will never be able to make up for that.”
“You don’t have to, Jay, I already forgive you.” Your voice was soft and comforting as JJ tugged you closer to him, pulling you into a loving embrace.
“You’re amazing, the best woman on the planet,” JJ said in a near whisper against your lips, sighing into you as his lips steal yours for a slow, electrifying kiss. “I should have made you mine forever ago.”
“And just to be clear, you and Kie are officially-” You start to ask at the risk of ruining the moment.
“Over,” JJ states quickly, his voice a mix of desperation and relief, “We never should have happened in the first place because it has always been you. Before I knew how much it hurts to be separated from you, I thought people were stupid for falling in love, but I was wrong, because I can’t help it, it’s not a choice where you can just pick someone because you think it will be easier than fessing up. Easier than just telling you that every time I see you, I feel more than I did before.” His voice hitches as he tries to continue, and your hand shoots out to rub soothingly up and down his arm.
“I’m in love with you, I have been for a lot longer than I realized. “His eyes fell to the sandy ground as he pushed forward, his voice cracking like he didn’t want to say the rest, “But-”
You heard the shift in his voice as he tried to continue, for a beat, it felt like he was going to drop the topic, but when his eyes met yours he pushed forward with a worrisome look on his face. You stepped back from him to observe his face; you could tell, as the moonlight hit him, that something was bothering him greatly. He had pushed it aside for your happiness, you stood in the same spot where he had once broken your heart, and it was as if part of him knew the storm that would come upon asking the question lingering on the tip of his tongue.
“What is it, Jay?” He heard the shake of your voice and knew that even if he wanted to, he would not be able to stop the conversation from coming now.
“She said something before I left her place that I have been ignoring,” JJ started, and your soaring heart dropped. “She said there’s a lot I don’t know about you, that if you don’t let me know the real you, I can’t love you properly, and I agree y/n.” JJ’s words send your eyes dropping to the sand at your feet, you pull back from him, avoiding his eyes and trying to avoid the conversation as a whole.
“You know me better than anyone, Jay.” Your voice breaks, and your eyes meet his again. The look in his eyes hurts as he so desperately tries to connect to you in the one way you can’t, you wish more than anything that you could be brave enough to tell the truth. But you can’t bring yourself to.
“I can feel that there is something you are holding back.” JJ says as he steps close to you again, “The way she talks about you is so…so angry. I have never heard her as angry as she is when she talks about you, I need to know.” JJ’s calloused hands lightly grab your shoulders, forcing your eyes up to him before he continues. “Why does she hate you so much, y/n?” It was almost like you could physically feel the memories hit you. How much pain you were in, how lost you felt, and how everyone who cared about you left you to drown.
“We used to be friends, she, Sarah, and I all were freshman year and….it just didn’t work out okay.” You couldn't bring yourself to say the words; once you did, everything would change, and you would lose him for good, just like you lost them. Like you almost lost everyone.
“Come on, y/n,” JJ almost begged, “I need to know what happened, please, I don’t know if I am selfish for asking, but I need to know.” The look of pure desperation on his face broke your resolve, and like a dam breaking, everything came rushing back in. Everything you tried to forget and change coming to the surface all at once like an ugly parasite forever stuck inside you, unchanging and unwilling to leave.
“I was going through a difficult time with my dad back then, and instead of doing the smart thing and telling someone I bottled it up and eventually it came back out,” You tried to look at him as you spoke but couldn’t, sighing and turning away from him before you continuted, “But it wasn’t directed at the right people. I wasn’t a good daughter, and I was a worse friend.”
“Trust me when I say I understand,” JJ tries in a comforting voice as he steps up behind you, “I have been there and I know you, you wouldn’t have done anything to hurt them on purpose.”
“Except I did hurt them, JJ, I may not have meant to, but I hurt them and I hurt myself because I couldn’t hurt the man who was hurting me.” You let your tears fall as you turned back to face him, your chest tight with worry as he watched your face intently. “Eventually, they found out what was going on, and instead of letting them in, I pushed them away.” You flinched slightly as JJ rushed to wrap his arms around you, tugging you to his chest in a warm embrace that pulled a shaky sigh from you.
“And when they finally started understanding I had already started talking to Rafe and let my anger get the best of me,” your words kept slipping out as if it were that night again and you were begging to be chosen, “I got lost in a different world for a while and I rubbed it in their face and Kie never forgave me. She had a thing for Rafe back then, and she still blames me for what happened after-“
“Wait a second, you did date Rafe?” JJ cuts you off ignoring the rest of your story with a scoff as he roughly pulls away from you and takes a few steps back, “Why the fuck didn’t you tell me when I asked you?”
“It was years ago, I was stupid, and it was not dating. We were close, he was all I had back then except….” JJ’s brows furrowed with anger while he stared at you, your throat clenched, trying to will yourself to speak.
“What aren’t you saying y/n?” He snaps, “What else are you hiding from me?”
“I was an addict, Jay, I still am in a way, just like he is, but I’m clean now. And for a long time, Rafe was the only person who understood what I was going through.” You knew how he felt about Rafe and drugs and addiction. That’s why you couldn’t bring yourself to say the words for so long, you didn’t want him to look at you like he was in this moment. Because you knew that look he was giving you, and it made you want to shrink into a shell you didn’t have. He looked at his father like that, your mother looked at you like that until very recently. You turned away from him as he eyed you; you couldn’t stand it from him.
“You know how I feel about him.” His voice sounded so different, so full of hurt and anger, you had heard him yell like this before, but you had never once thought you would ever be on the receiving end. JJ could feel himself slipping, but he didn’t hold on; if he had, he would have stopped. Thought it through a bit more and realized how wrong he was. But he didn't think, he couldn't, his mind was clouded with jealousy and a sense of betrayal. His chest started to feel empty, his throat constricting as he thought of everything else you could be keeping from him instead of everything you could have gone through that led you to have this reaction.
 “You told me there wasn’t anything going on between you two.” His voice breaks when he speaks now, his eyes glossing over slightly as he looks at you under the moonlight. You looked so beautiful it hurt, even with your eyes reddened and your hair tousled from the wind. It hurt to think of everyone with a good pair of eyes being able to see you as he did; he wanted to be your only admirer. No matter how crazy it sounded.
“Well, there isn’t Jay,” You say with a humorless, nervous laugh, “We talked for a bit when I was 16, but it wasn’t dating. He was too old for me and I only started it to piss off my friends and my dad in one go. But it became more than that. And-” You choke on the words, tears welling in your eyes as you try to force yourself to make the confession you had never made to anyone but your therapist.
“It was my fault he got into drugs; it was my idea. I was having fun, and he wanted to know what it felt like. We got close from shared trauma, but I never felt anything more than friendship for him.” You speak over your shoulder, eyeing the way his brows shoot up in surprise. You turn as you see his face shift into a look of desperate sadness before quickly being masked with an anger you never saw from him. “I know it was stupid, but I was jealous Sarah and Kie chose you guys over me, and then it all snowballed, I got stuck in that world, and part of me truly liked it for a long time.”
“Oh wow,” JJ says with a scoff, your words hitting him so hard he swore his ears were ringing, memories of the night he called everything off swimming back into his mind again.
“I know the type of person she is, JJ, and she will only bring you down just like your Dad,” Kie spat at him, “She’s using you to get back at me, I know her better than you do.” She sighed, “And trust me, I know I’m right, she’s done this before and she’d do it again. That’s what people like her do.”
Kie’s words echoed in his head while he eyed you, the weight of them changing as he looked at you entirely differently now. “I should have fuckin’ known.” JJ snaps, making you flinch backwards from him.
“Should’ve known what? We never even did anything serious. We both just….got caught up in it all.” JJ could hear the desperation in your voice but ignored it, his anger blinding him from seeing the truth directly in front of his face.
“How could you possibly know what you did with him if you were high out of your mind the whole time?” He spat, the words stabbing you directly in your chest as he continues, “How am I supposed to accept that the woman I love is the reason the man who tormented me throughout high school was the menace he was?” JJ’s voice only got louder and more full of anger as he continued. “You could have told me the entire time, and instead you lied to me, like you knew how much it would hurt me.” JJ almost yells, turning and walking off towards his motorcycle, ignoring you while you yell after him to listen the same way you did the first time. You stood watching in almost the exact space you stood that night, watching him choose his pride over you once again.
“Are you serious, JJ? This is how you react to my mistakes after everything I did to help you with yours.” He barely looks at you over his shoulder as he settles onto his bike. “Fine, if that’s what you want to do, then go ahead and leave me again. Just don’t come back this time.”
JJ watches you turn towards the direction of your house, a sense of panic rising in his chest. But the anger blocking him from responding stayed, forcing him to watch as you left his life seemingly for the last time before he sped off alone.
CHAPTER XIII: Live, Laugh, Levanter (Please Clap)
STRAY KIDS’ ALBUMS ALWAYS DROPPED at midnight. Clé: Levanter was no different—just equally inconvenient.
The boys wanted to stay up to celebrate, to scream when the album finally went live, to read comments together in real-time—especially since this was Iseul’s first official release. But the day had been brutal: photoshoots, last-minute recordings, meetings, practice. By the time they dragged themselves through the dorm door, it was already close to midnight, and they looked one blink away from passing out.
“I think my legs fell off on the way here,” Hyunjin mumbled, dropping his bag dramatically before flopping face-first onto the couch. “I’m just a torso now.”
“You don’t need legs to stream the album,” Han said, voice thick with a yawn. “Just… one working thumb…”
“You can’t even keep one eye open,” Seungmin pointed out, pulling off his hoodie and tossing it toward the laundry pile. “You nearly walked into the wall three times.”
“Four,” Minho corrected from the kitchen, already halfway through a protein shake and staring into the fridge like he forgot what he came for. “And he definitely whispered ‘sorry’ to a chair.”
Chan trudged in last, eyes scanning the living room. “Is everyone alive? No injuries? Mental breakdowns postponed until tomorrow?”
Iseul, who had stayed unusually quiet, cleared her throat. “You guys should sleep. Really. The album will still be there in the morning.”
“But it’s your first one,” Felix said, blinking blearily at her from where he’d slumped against the hallway wall. “Shouldn’t we, I don’t know… do something?”
“You’re all dead on your feet,” she said with a gentle smile, hiding the knot in her stomach. “We’ll celebrate properly tomorrow. Promise.”
“You’re not going to stay up alone and obsessively refresh the comments, right?” Changbin asked, narrowing his eyes as he kicked off his shoes.
“Me? Never,” she said innocently, hands folded behind her back. “What kind of unhinged rookie would do that?”
Jeongin squinted at her. “That’s exactly what you’re going to do.”
She shrugged. “Well. I am a rookie.”
They all groaned—too tired to argue further—and slowly shuffled off to their rooms one by one.
When the dorm finally fell silent, Iseul padded quietly to her bedroom, curling up under her blanket, phone glowing in her hands as she waited for the clock to turn.
At midnight, Clé: Levanter was officially out.
Her name was in the credits.
Her voice in the songs.
Her face in the music videos.
And within the first hour, The screen lit up with hundreds of notifications, flooding in faster than she could process. Comments poured in under the title track teaser, the music video, behind-the-scenes clips, concept photos.
Her name was everywhere.
"Who's the new girl? Her voice in the chorus is insane!" "Iseul? She ate. No crumbs." "Where did she come from?? They just pulled a main vocalist out of nowhere??" "I wasn't sure about adding a new member, but... okay. She kinda fits." "Wait, she's really pretty too? I'm suspicious."
She scrolled faster, trying to keep up, heart thudding so loud she almost missed the shift in tone.
"Not gonna lie, still miss Woojin." "Don't care how talented she is, eight is fate." "They should’ve just stayed a boy group." "Feels weird. I don’t like it." "She probably forced her way in. Nepo baby or something."
Iseul blinked.
Her thumb paused mid-scroll.
The warmth in her chest began to flicker.
Of course she had known. Of course.
You don’t walk into someone else's grieving group and expect flowers.
But it was different seeing the words typed out so plainly—cold, impersonal, unfiltered.
She shut her eyes for a second. Then opened them again.
More comments. A blur of mixed reactions.
"I'm obsessed with the new dynamic. Iseul and Seungmin harmonizing?? Beautiful." "Okay but her dance break in Levanter? Hello??" "Still can’t believe she’s real. She’s like a fever dream." "Something about her makes me uncomfortable. It’s giving attention-seeking."
Her throat tightened.
She tried to laugh. She really did.
But all that came out was a shaky exhale as her fingers trembled over the screen.
She kept scrolling. Because maybe if she read enough praise, it would cancel out the rest. Maybe if she just kept refreshing, the pit in her stomach would close.
But the words wouldn’t stop crawling in.
"This is Stray Kids, not Iseul and Friends." "She’s going to ruin them." "Not my stray kids anymore."
A comment flashed by before she could catch the username.
Just six words. Casual. Almost flippant: "She doesn't look like she belongs."
That one stung more than the others.
Because sometimes—quietly, in the stillness between practice and sleep—she wondered the same thing.
Iseul pressed the heel of her palm against her eyes, willing the tears to stay put.
This was supposed to be a celebration. Her debut. Her first album.
And yet here she was, curled into a ball under her blanket, feeling like she’d stolen something that was never meant to be hers.
She lowered her phone. The glow of the screen faded into darkness.
There were footsteps outside her door. A creak in the hallway. Someone walking to the kitchen. Then back. A door shutting gently.
She could knock. Crawl out of her room. Say she changed her mind. Maybe one of them was still awake—Chan, probably. He never slept anyway. She could tell him she was scared. Ask him to tell her again that she deserved to be here. That she wasn’t a mistake. That she didn’t ruin anything.
But the lump in her throat was too thick. The air felt too heavy.
So, she stayed there, eyes wide open in the dark, listening to the album play softly through her earbuds. Her voice echoed back at her in fragments—lines she’d practiced a thousand times, now stitched into something permanent.
Something real.
She hugged her knees to her chest.
Maybe tomorrow would feel better.
Tumblr media
The stage lights were dim, casting long shadows across the empty venue. The cold hum of equipment was the only sound, a stark contrast to the usual buzz of excitement that would fill the air moments before a live performance. It was just them, the crew, and the weight of the moment hanging thick in the air.
Iseul stood at the edge of the stage, her body tense. The words from the comments still echoed in her mind, biting at the back of her thoughts like a persistent mosquito.
Her throat tightened, a lump forming there again. She wanted to shake it off, to focus on the performance, but it was harder than it seemed. Each note, each movement, felt like an exam she might fail. It was her first live performance with Stray Kids. Her first live performance of Levanter, a track that had already stirred a whirlwind of opinions.
“Alright, everyone, let's get ready for the soundcheck,” Chan’s voice broke through the silence, calm but with an undercurrent of nerves. He stood at the center of the stage, his gaze moving over the group. The exhaustion from the past days hung over him like a shroud, but he was still the leader. He always was. He never let it show.
Iseul nodded, swallowing the heaviness in her chest as she made her way to her position. She barely registered the movement, eyes focused on the floor as she adjusted her mic, checked her in-ear monitors. The others fell into place, but it felt like a lifetime before they were ready. She could feel Hyunjin’s presence beside her, his usual energy dulled by something she couldn’t place. She glanced up for a moment, his eyes quickly flicking away from hers. There was a distance between them that hadn’t been there before, and it gnawed at her.
The song began.
Iseul sang her part—her voice was steady, but it didn’t feel like hers. Her notes felt too hollow, too far from the person she was trying to be. This is your moment. This is your debut. But it didn’t feel like a victory.
It felt like a trial.
They ran through the chorus, and Iseul’s gaze shifted to the others. They were here with her, but she felt... apart. Like she was on the outside, watching a group she wasn’t really part of. A group that had been whole before she’d come in and changed everything.
The music swelled, and her voice cracked on a high note. She quickly tried to recover, but the sound had already wavered. A small breath escaped her, and she closed her eyes for a brief moment.
Hyunjin, standing just a few feet away, flinched slightly, the tension between them almost palpable. He couldn’t meet her eyes, his face a study of concentration as he focused on the performance. But Iseul noticed the way his shoulders were tense, the way he pulled away just a little bit more each time they rehearsed. It was as if he was holding something back—a weight he couldn’t put down. Something unspoken between them that neither was willing to address.
She blinked, forcing herself to focus. You can’t break down now. Not here.
But the crack in her voice only served to remind her how fragile everything felt. The lights seemed too bright; the air too thick. She caught a glimpse of Felix in the back, his face hidden behind his hair as he adjusted his mic, and she wondered if he felt it too—the tension that had settled between them all. The unspoken strain.
“Iseul, can you take that part again?” Chan called from the side; his voice gentle but firm. His eyes met hers, his concern barely hidden.
“Yeah. Sorry,” Iseul muttered, nodding. She wanted to say more, to apologize for the mistake, for the way she felt like a burden. But the words caught in her throat. She didn’t know how to explain it—how she didn’t feel like she belonged, how she was haunted by the thought that the group would be better off without her.
She took a deep breath and sang again. This time, the notes came out cleaner, stronger. But there was still a heaviness in her chest, a gnawing fear that she wouldn’t be enough. That no matter how much she tried, she would always be the outsider.
As the song wrapped up, Chan clapped his hands together, signaling the end of the soundcheck. The others immediately began to move, but Iseul stayed still, her heart racing in her chest. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off—something that went beyond the stage, beyond the performance.
She turned, almost on instinct, scanning everyone. The staff had already begun clearing equipment, voices echoing against the high ceilings. Minho was crouched near the edge of the stage, muttering something to Seungmin about spacing during the choreography. Jeongin had his in-ears half-dangling, scrolling through his phone like he wasn’t performing on live TV in a few hours.
Felix caught her eye, but didn’t say anything. He just gave her a little nod—more a question than a greeting. She nodded back, too quickly, too tightly.
“Alright, ten-minute break. Don’t wander far,” Chan called, clapping once to get everyone’s attention. His voice was upbeat, but his eyes skimmed the room with a practiced sharpness, as if he could sense the undercurrent tugging at everyone’s heels.
Iseul jumped down from the riser and grabbed her water bottle, clutching it like it could anchor her. Her throat still felt tight.
As she moved to the waiting room, she caught the faintest sound—footsteps. Not close. But deliberate. Pacing. Turning. She didn’t have to look to know who it was.
Hyunjin.
He was always like this when he was nervous—restless, coiled like a spring. It didn’t surprise her. What surprised her was the fact that he hadn’t left the room yet.
She took a sip of water to distract herself. It didn’t help. Her stomach was a knot. Her nerves were frayed, but it wasn’t the stage that scared her—it was this space between them, this strange limbo where he didn’t look at her the same way the others did.
Where she didn’t know how to read him. Where she didn’t know if he hated her, or if he hated that he didn’t.
The silence between them stretched, pulling tight like a thread on the verge of snapping.
Iseul didn’t know what made her speak again. Maybe it was the exhaustion. Maybe it was the dread twisting in her chest. Maybe she just didn’t want to walk on stage with her stomach full of regret.
“Was it that bad?” she asked quietly, still not looking at him.
Hyunjin paused his pacing.
A beat passed.
Then another.
“No,” he said finally. “It wasn’t.”
She turned slightly, catching the edge of his reflection in the mirror across the room. His expression was unreadable, shoulders stiff, jaw tense.
“But it wasn’t good either,” she said, because she couldn’t help herself.
He let out a breath—more sigh than laugh.
“I didn’t say that.”
“You didn’t have to.”
This time, he looked at her. Really looked.
There was a flicker of something—regret? Frustration? It passed too quickly to catch. But it was enough to make Iseul tense, her water bottle still clutched in both hands like a shield.
“I meant what I said earlier,” Hyunjin said, voice low. “You weren’t bad.”
Iseul tilted her head, watching him carefully. “But?”
He hesitated. She could see the way his fingers twitched at his sides, like he didn’t know where to put all the things he was holding back.
“But I haven’t exactly made this easy, have I?” he said finally, eyes flicking away, landing somewhere near the floor.
That caught her off guard.
She blinked; unsure she’d heard right. “What?”
“The day we fought,” Hyunjin muttered, jaw clenching slightly. “In the practice room. I said some… harsh things. Things I shouldn’t have said.”
Iseul felt her throat tighten again. Not with nerves this time—but with the slow, quiet ache of something beginning to thaw.
He glanced up. Their eyes met, and there was no hiding from it now—not behind choreography, not behind noise.
“I was angry,” he continued. “At everything. Woojin leaving, the pressure, the fact that nothing felt right anymore. And then you showed up, and I—”
He stopped himself. Ran a hand through his hair, frustrated.
“I just didn’t know what to do with all that. So, I took it out on you.”
The words sat heavy in the space between them, sinking into the silence like stones in deep water.
Iseul didn’t respond at first. She let the quiet stretch, let the weight of it settle.
“Is this the part where you say you’re sorry?” she asked eventually, and there was no sarcasm in her tone—just tiredness.
Hyunjin looked at her again. This time, he didn’t look away.
“Yeah,” he said. “I’m sorry.”
It wasn’t dramatic. It wasn’t overflowing with emotion. But something in the way he said it—bare, almost raw—made her chest ache a little more.
“I’m not asking you to forget it,” he added. “But I thought maybe you should hear it from me before we go on that stage.”
Iseul stared at him, trying to decide what to do with the unexpected apology now resting at her feet.
Finally, she nodded once. Not quite forgiveness. But not rejection either.
“Okay.”
She turned slightly, catching the edge of his reflection in one of the mirrors. He looked just as exhausted as she felt, hair a mess, eyes heavy with something unsaid.
Then his stomach growled.
Loudly.
So loudly it echoed slightly off the walls.
Iseul blinked.
Hyunjin froze.
“…That was the chair,” he said flatly.
She raised an eyebrow. “The chair?”
“Yes.”
They both stared at the clearly innocent chair.
Then Iseul snorted.
It started small—just a breath through her nose—but quickly turned into a laugh she couldn't stop, covering her mouth as her shoulders shook. Hyunjin’s ears turned red, but a reluctant smile pulled at his lips.
“Don’t laugh,” he muttered. “It’s been a long day. My organs are fighting for survival.”
STORY HINT: Seungmin has been giving Iseul and Minho the side-eye ever since he caught them in the middle of their belly roll lesson. At first, he thought it was just a one-off joke. But now, every time he walks into the room, Iseul and Minho are secretly practicing their ridiculous dance moves. Seungmin is pretty sure they’ve formed a “secret club” of absurd dance choreography. What he hadn't expected was him joining their shenanigans after he caught them again - this time practicing dances of JYP himself. And now Seungmin has perfected the art of weird jazz hands and awkward hip thrusts. And this how, ladies and gentlemen, JYPracha was formed.
Y'all can finally celebrate now - Hyunjin has finally stepped up his game bahahahhahaha. I feel like the JYPracha is such a cute addition, given how Seungmin and Minho compliments each others personality and will totally mock JYP's iconic dance steps (JYP if yer reading this - which u prob rnt - I js want to say yer a legend, this is all fun and games) and adding Iseul in their dynamic is absolutely so funny. ~candy
moonlight reflection (SVSSS)
Pre-Relationship Shen Yuan x Shen Jiu, Canon Universe, Canon Divergence (SJ is SY's reflection) (prev)
Shen Qingqiu flicks his fan out in front of his face, regarding Shen Yuan beneath the pinch of his lashes. His reflection in the wavering surface of the pond stretches out further than he typically can in the confines of standard mirrors, the gleam of Xiu Ya, and there’s a bite of satisfaction in his eyes, the very edge of his sharp grin. “This master is delighted that his instruction is not going to waste.”
“They were amazing.” Shen Yuan’s hands ache, the matching bloodless pulse of pain in his thighs. His body may be used to this level of exertion—barely, given the reputation the Shen Qingqiu had pruned and maintained—but Shen Yuan is not. His thoughts trip over the torn silk from his robes, the splash of moonlight across the bank of the pond that stops at the pile of tangled limbs and thick fur; the flash of Shen Qingqiu’s gaze peering past the now-tangled braid they wear to track their passage.
“And what—“ Shen Qingqiu snaps his fan closed, resting it against his lower lip as he speaks. “—does your floating box say?” His gaze isn’t focused on Shen Yuan, deliberately tilted in the close quarters to his left. The system bounces merrily to Shen Yuan’s right, unconcerned, the typical message of ‘Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations’ drifting from corner to corner.
Shen Yuan leans closer to the surface of the pond, the dry grass rustling against his legs and scratching his exposed skin. Shen Qingqiu mimics the movement, ethereally graceful even when inflicted with Shen Yuan’s shortcomings, studying him like an ant that had crawled onto his boot. The added height only adds to the illusion, the moonlight catching on the water until Shen Qingqiu shines.
“The floating box didn’t tell me anything. Is it so hard to believe that I know about Giant Moon Wolves all by myself?”
Shen Qinqiu scoffs, the drag of his gaze slow and deliberate, as he rakes it over Shen Yuan. “If this master didn’t know better, he would have thought you had been brawling in the street with those brutes.”
‘Those brutes’ could cover any variety of people from their shared martial siblings to the vast sprawl of everyday people their conjoined lives brush against. Shen Yuan takes his best guess regardless.
“This student hopes his master would be aware that if they were sparring with Bai Zhan Peak students, then he would be as exactingly devastating as would be befitting a master of Qing Jing Peak.”
Shen Qinqiu doesn’t laugh, but the edges of his gaze soften, his head inclined slightly to one side. He folds his hands in his lap, the torn hem of his robes only transforming the action into a deliberate work of art. “Better.”
Shen Yuan grins, relaxing the tight threads of control pierced through his lips, the pinch of his brow, just for a moment. Everything had taken adjustment, a pot forced to contain far more than it had ever been meant to handle, but they had settled into an uneasy equilibrium, Shen Yuan piloting their body through the world and Shen Qingqiu, his judgemental beautiful reflection.
“List the properties of the pelts for this master,” Shen Qingqiu says. He’s uncharacteristically relaxed in the reflection, his fan folded and resting against his cheek, moonlight dappling across his skin and turning his eyes pale.
Shen Yuan clasps his hands in his lap, his shoulders square. He can’t see his own reflection with Shen Qingqiu wearing their face so he has no way of knowing the devout gleam that settles over his features, a student worshipping at an altar he built with blood and tears. “The pelts of the Giant Moon Wolves are unique for their colouration, typically being shades of pale grey that is close to silver, and for their cultivation properties. It is thought—and this is only partially correct—that wearing the pelt for nine days will steady an unstable core.”
Shen Yuan pauses, looking out across the surface of the lake and letting his vision blur. Like this, the world fragments into shards of bisected silver and he could almost be back in his world, shivering slightly in the early evening chill as he bleeds his intention through his phone, his rage at the sheer potential lost in the chapter update of Proud Immortal Demon Way. “It’s the blood of the wolf that offers the greatest benefit and drawback as it’s highly toxic when untreated. Exposure can stabilise a core but it could also—“
A beep of warning echoes from the System, Shen Yuan turning towards it. There’s a moment as he stares at the words without understanding them, text splayed over the screen in bold letters.
Mandatory Quest ‘It’s Behind You’ activated.
The grass rustles behind him, the immediate heavy press of eyes locked onto his back, the fragrant evening air sour with rotting meat. No time to move, barely enough time to breathe, and Shen Yuan turns to Shen Qingqiu. He doesn’t know why, only that he’s glad he isn’t dying alone this time.
Silver blurs past him, sharp enough to slice the air and the sound isn’t a scream, it’s a snarl, the sound of furious desperation that rips from a human throat and leaves blood behind. The wolf is huge, the coat dark in the shadows that cling to, and it howls as the disembodied hands claw at its face, thumbs pressed through the soft swell of its eyes. It’s a messy kill, wretched and final.
“Don’t move.”
Shen Yuan obeys, his gaze locked on the gently steaming maw of the dead wolf, blood splattered across it’s teeth. Shen Qingqiu draws the messy braid free, carding spectral fingers through it. He works carefully, barely tugging at the tangles as he weaves the strands back together.
“Now, this student is presentable,” Shen Qinqiu murmurs as his touch falls away. In the pond, he peers around the edge of the fan, a smear of blood over the curve of his thumb.
Is it possible for you to do a Xiao and female Dendro yaksha reader?
Reader was alive during the Archon War and originally served another God, a cruel abusive one who was killed during the war. Having no where to go, she simply traveled across Teyvat visiting different nations trying to find an quiet and isolated place to call home. She avoided humans due to unfortunate encounters with them in the past. (Mostly being mistreated and attacked by them)
During the Cataclysm, she had to fend for herself since she wasn't a part of any nation nor have any allies and she refused to serve another God. She was gravely injured forcing her to hide underground and fell into a deep slumber to start recovering.
Now to the current time, an unusual amount of flora has been growing around certain areas in Wuwang Hill. Xiao is sent to investigate with the Traveler (and Paimon). They find a hidden tunnel that leads to underground with massive amounts of flora growing inside.
From there they find a large beautiful closed flower bud with something hidden inside. Without hesitation, Xiao slices it open and they instantly spot our sleeping Dendro Yaksha, who slowly awakens due the process of recovery being interrupted.
Her first meeting with Xiao is silent as they just observed each other but then gets triggered into a violent reaction after seeing the Traveler.
As for how this meeting ends is up to you. I'm sorry if this is too long and complicated.😅 I wanted to give a bit of backstory about reader 😣 I got the first meeting idea after watching How to Train Your Dragon; Hidden World, with Toothless and the Light Fury.
Journey of a Yaksha; Queen of the Night!
Queen of the Night! Is a flower that blooms once a year!
content warning: they/them traveler (I won't be using lumine or aether specifically, you can imagine who between the two you want to be part of the story), Female reader, post war trauma in the last part.
timeline is before Sumeru update/or middle of Sumeru before the conclusion in regards to Eleazar! anything else is just random like banners.
Reader is a yaksha, meaning she is also an adepti/adeptus. (I just learned it today, apparently yakshas are under the umbrella term of Adepti or smth), more on it at the bottom of the page! ( ^ ^ ) <3
˚˖𓍢ִ໋🍃✧˚.💚⋆
"Finally another quest" the traveler muttered to themselves after looking at their wallets, noticing the sad reality that they were broke! 'Just when Albedo's banner is coming back' putting their wallet back in their inventory, the golden haired traveler turned to paimon and, surprise surprise! Xiao! Resident Yaksha of Wangshu inn!
"It's been awhile since we went on a mission together." They offered to the silent golden haired man. "It has." he nodded in response as Paimon commented, "Xiao is still the same as ever." she wondered if it would kill the demon slayer to talk for more than 5 words!
"To be honest I thought we wouldn't see each other about a quest." The traveler sighed.
In actuality, the traveler had received a mission to investigate the source of minor tremors and sometimes earthquakes that seemed to have been caused from somewhere in Wuwang hills. On their way their, crossing Wangshu Inn they bumped into Xiao who was also heading there.
It didn't take long for the group to realize that Aether's quest concerned Xiao's who had gotten reports about strange adepti energy coming from Wuwang hills, it was at the request of Sky Retainer that he checked it out as the others were busy with the preparations of the upcoming Lantern Rite festival.
"If it's just adepti energy, it's probably one of the other adeptus like that Moon craver!" Paimon floated between the two duo.
Xiao sighed, correcting her "Moon Carver."
"Right, right, Moon Carver."
The young looking adeptus then explained "Adepti energy has a certain signature to it." "Then I'm guessing since you were sent to investigate it, it wasn't a familiar signature?" The traveler asked as he nodded in response.
"Do you think it's an enemy? or maybe one of your old friends. . Like Bosacius."
He shook his head, "Although before we weren't sure about Bosacius, but I'm sure about the others." considering he buried their bodies, Bosacius was the only one who was MIA, no body found in every surface of the region, it was a shock when he found out his friend had died underground.
The traveler and their emergency food remained silent, a thick and awkward tension surrounding them for the majority of their travels to Wuwang hills.
˚˖𓍢ִ໋🍃✧˚.💚⋆
If it was even possible, Wuwang Hill seemed more eerie than the last time they had came to the area. The mist was thicker than usual, and the golden light from the lanterns seemed to only add to the off atmosphere.
Something was different however, it was how the ground seemed dried and lacking of nutrients, as if it had been leeched off. "This reminds me of something. . but what?" The traveler frowned as they looked around.
They crouched down by some plants, staring long and hard, they gasped as they began to wither.
"Look out!" Paimon yelled as the traveler turned to find a rifthound ready to strike them!
"Hmph!" Xiao was quick enough exterminate the beast with his elemental skill. "Thanks Xiao!" the traveler gratefully said as they gave him a thumbs up.
"What are rifthounds doing in Liyue? They're usually at Inazuma or near Wolvendom. ." Paimon frowned, a hand stroking her chin.
"No, not just there, we can find them in sumeru too. . near withering zones." The traveler equipped their weapon, a serious expression on their face as Xiao asked them to explain.
"it's a type of illness in Sumeru, it basically kills off the plants and the area, sometimes, it affects people too in the form of a disease." The blond explained, Paimon gasped "that's right! Eleazar disease! This is pretty bad, what is a withering zone doing all the way out here in Liyue??"
Activating their elemental sights, the traveler looked around, "it's probably related with the earthquakes around here. . not sure if it has something to do with an Adepti though."
"It'll have to wait, how do we dispel withering zones?" Xiao's polearm had a dangerous glint to it, which matched his sharp eyes. "We'll have to find the withering branches and destroy them with dendrograna but. ."
there were none, at least, none based on their elemental sight.
"I can see a trace though, lets follow it."
Following the trace of elements, withering and dendro, as well as apparently it had the trace of adepti energy according to Xiao. . they found themselves at the entrance of a cave that was situated at the side of Wuwang Hill, "this wasn't here before." the traveler frowned, they were dead sure of it considering they spent a lot of time around liyue to get all the primogems they could.
"It looks natural, maybe it opened up due to the earthquakes." Xiao said, placing a hand on the rocky surface. The entrance of the cave looked like it was formed due to an earthquake, it was shaped like a crack and was big enough for people to pass through thankfully.
"Lets go."
The entrance was empty, there were a few bugs and shrubs but as they got deeper and deeper,, more underground, the path became filled with flowers and fauna. It was lit up with glowing plants that seemed the same like the ones you found in the forest near the Kamisato Estate back in Inazuma, vines and moss covered the walls and ground, hanging flowers bloomed above them.
It was a beautiful sight, one that made them relax and let their guards down as they continued their exploration.
They could hear the sound of running water, an underwater river or water source perhaps?
Their questions were answered as they found the other end of the path, it led to a large cavern, there was a hole above letting the moonlight and water from a river pour in.
Beneath the hole was a small patch of land surrounded by water, there a large white bud sat at the center.
"This looks like a scene from a fairytale! or at least, something you'd seen in the Aranara village" paimon commented which the traveler couldn't help but agree.
Numerous crystalflies and butterflies flew about, leaving when they got close to them. Circling around the cavern they find no trace of a person being here, so they turned their attention to the ginormous flower bud.
"You think this could be causing all the tremors?" The traveler turned to Xiao who was silently observing the plant. "But it's a plant- I thought they were the ones stopping earthquakes and landslides?" Paimon frowned at their travelling partner, "Well, unless it's a evil magic plant!" they argued defensively.
"It doesn't even look like a regisvine!"
The duo began to argue as Xiao began to walk towards the bud, it did not bother him when the water seeped into his shoes, or even if it was cold.
Something felt familiar about the flower, the energy it exuded. . yes, it was adeptal energy. But something tainted it, something sinister, something rotten.
As he approached it, various vines grew at the bottom of the white bud, it swirled threateningly at him making him stop in his place.
He could hear the traveler unsheathe their weapon, Xiao frowned. "Let me handle this."
The traveler hesitated but they relaxed their posture "fine, but I'll attack it if it attacks you."
"I can handle myself perfectly fine."
Golden eyes careful observed the bud at a much closer angle, from afar it looked beautiful, but being near it, he could see the tips of the petals were wilting an ugly black color, then it faded to brown, then white and green when it neared the stem of the bud.
"It's dying." he stated as he approached, one hand began to glow with power as he began to harness his adeptal energy. "I'll try to give it some energy." he told the others.
"What? what if saving that flower is a bad thing?"
"Then we'll kill it."
'That's easier said than done!' Paimon and the outlander thought! Of course Xiao wouldn't be too worried, he's very strong, but they'd rather avoid any more uneccessary battles!
The vines swooped down, entangling one of xiao's wrist and pulling him close to the bud sensing the delicious energy he harnessed. Which made his job easier as he began feeding energy into the flower.
He watched as the erosion seemed to disappear as the flower became much more lush and vibrant. Soon the petals began to open, blooming under the full moon. The vines of the bud let him go, as if satisfied with the energy he had given it.
Stepping back he watched as the flower bloomed into its full glory, a light coming from its center.
"Oh my god!" Paimon screamed in fear as a hand popped out of the center, it nearly gave her a heart attack! It was almost like a scene from a horror play without any blood!
Then another arm popped up, stretched as it tried grabbing the petals for support, nearly tearing them off from the flower. Xiao approached, he didn't know why he began to act careless and without much thought, but he found himself grabbing the hands gently and pulling the person or whoever it was up.
Sharp golden eyes meet with sleepy [ eye color ] eyes, which quickly widened in shock. The person with [ color ] hair took back their hands, jumping back in a cautious manner resembling that of a wary stray cat.
Her stance was tensed, cautious and untrusting as her eyes became clear, finally fully awake as she observed the man before her, an adeptus no doubt, she could feel the energy in his body, similar to that of her own.
˚˖𓍢ִ໋🍃✧˚.💚⋆
You felt tired, sleepy as you woke up from a long sleep, the first thing you saw upon waking up was the brilliant moon that shone down up you, bathing you in its gentle light. Your stretched your arms up high, hands grabbing at the moon as you relaxed, you were relieved to find your body no longer rotting, turning stiff from the withering.
Still you could feel it in your body, you were still sick.
So quickly you tried to get up, trying to use the petals as leverage but alas the petals were to delicate, they began to tear as you tried to hoist yourself up.
You froze as a pair of hands grabbed your own, easily pulling you up. Then there it was, the first person you saw upon waking up.
A man with a mop of dark hair and small patches of teal that reminds you of a particular grass you had once slept in during your travels, golden eyes that swirled like nectar and honey stared back into your own, with pupils like that of an avian.
You instantly jumped back, feeling goosebumps from his touch.
An adeptus was in front of you, but who were they serving? Was it a rogue one? or one loyal to Morax? His energy was as strong as yours, albeit more refined.
"Who" you coughed, feeling your throat dry as the desert, still you persisted, raising your guard up around the man "who are you?"
You two observed each other, one pair of eyes filled with distrust, the other filled with awe and shock.
He observed you, your hair long and untamed due to the long sleep, the smell of flowers radiating off you and the specks of pollen that clung to your skin.
Another adeptus, a Yaksha no doubt as well.
He was speechless beyond words, all he could do was stare as he began to process this shocking revelation. There was another Yaksha, he wasn't entirely alone.
"Who are you?" you asked again before going into a horrible case of the coughs, you crouched down, hand covering your mouth as he stepped closer, your eyes glared at him, warning him not to approach so he raised his hands, showing he was unarmed before going to grab his water jug that was attached to him and threw it to you.
You caught it with ease, opening it before taking a tentative sniff. Deciding it was safe you began to drink. The ache in your throat disappeared as you felt your lips no longer dry or crack with a slight lick from your lips.
"Thank you.." you hesitantly said.
Standing up again you tilted your head at the man who was still speechless, then you heard a crack, a branch had been broken, being stepped on by another person. It wasn't just the two of you.
You turned to the source of the sound, finding not only a flying fairy, but also a blond haired weapon wielding person. The metal weapon was the only thing you could focus on, and suddenly it felt like you were back in the war. Your breath hitched.
Sensing your worries, your apprehension, and the fact that you had been set off, Xiao made the mistake of trying to approach you, to calm you down, immediately you equipped your weapon.
Fuck.
˚˖𓍢ִ໋🍃✧˚.💚⋆
Xiao and the traveler, along with paimon, were huddled up around a fire as they began healing eating some sweet madames. Having been set off, you violently attacked them before making your escape.
It was Xiao who suggested not to follow you quickly less they make you even more enraged or afraid of them. The moon had long since passed the hole, it was no longer at its full height so the cavern was dark except for the few crystalflies and fireflies that stuck around as well as their small campfire.
"She was so strong!" Paimon gushed, ignoring the traveler who gave her a stink eye. "So she's an adeptus huh?" the traveler sighed, turning to Xiao who nodded. "A yaksha too?"
"It seems so. I should inform the others about this, but someone should track her down..."
Reading Xiao's inner plights the traveler sighed before offering "I can tell the other adepti about her and you can track her down, I'm pretty sure you're excited about the possibility of another Yaksha friend right?"
"Thank you."
˚˖𓍢ִ໋🍃✧˚.💚⋆˚˖𓍢ִ໋🍃✧˚.💚⋆˚˖𓍢ִ໋🍃✧˚.💚⋆˚˖𓍢ִ໋🍃✧˚.💚⋆
It is in Mondstadt did you learn that you can also fight for something other than Power, you can do so to obtain freedom, to protect others.
It is in Inazuma did you learn that there are things you can learn outside of war, that even learning what a friend likes or dislikes was just as important as learning how to defend yourself.
It was in Sumeru where you were able to remember the beauty of nature and life, how it makes you want to protect in from war and illness.
It was in Liyue where your life started. it was in the nation of contracts were you were enslaved, it was the nation of geo where you made the important choice to heal.
but what about now? What will you learn now upon returning to Liyue who had faced numerous changes? What will the people here teach you next?
Tumblr media
I didn't know how to smoothly transition this into you and Xiao meeting again and becoming friends, so there will be another chapter!
full blooded adepti are able to shift into a human form like Madame Ping and apparently Xiao, I haven't decided if Reader is a full blooded one, if ever, what do you think would be her animal/beast form?
a reader from the previous part commented about her/reader being a fawn and I absolutely adored that idea!
Prev - Next Chapter
Y/N sat motionlessly on the edge of her bed, her fingers absently tracing the rough, scratchy texture of the worn sheets.
Tumblr media
Her gaze was fixed on the ground, her eyes distant and unseeing, the once brilliant color now dulled into a pale, lifeless gray.
She looked as if she were suspended in time, caught between the weight of the past and the crushing uncertainty of the future.
Her thoughts circled relentlessly, clawing at the fragile edges of her composure. ‘Mylo, dead. Claggor, dead. Vi, dead. Vander, dead.’ The names echoed like the toll of a bell, each one a dagger carving deeper into her chest.
And then there was Ekko. Ekko, whose fate she didn’t know. Was he alive, wandering aimlessly through the wreckage of their shared past? Or was he lost too, swallowed by the chaos?
The uncertainty gnawed at her insides. She clenched her fists, a cold determination solidifying within her. ‘If he’s alive, I’ll find him. I have to. He’s all alone now— no one to care for him. I’ll find him.’
The weight of the small gemstones in her hand pulled her attention. She turned them over slowly, their surfaces catching the dim light.
The soft blue glow flickered eerily, somehow both beautiful and deeply unsettling. They seemed to hold whispers of the lives they’d lost, their brilliance mocking her.
Her thoughts were abruptly shattered by a sharp knock at the door. She flinched, startled out of her daze as she quickly shoved the blue stone in her bag. The familiar voice on the other side made her tense.
“Silco,” she muttered under her breath, even before he spoke.
“The girl won’t eat,” His gravelly voice called through the door.
Y/N hesitated before responding, her tone sharp. “Her name is Powder,” She corrected, pushing the words through clenched teeth. “Have you made her something?”
“Yes, but she won’t touch it.” Silco’s frown was evident even through the door.
For a moment, Y/N stayed silent, staring at the door as if it were some insurmountable wall. Was this another of Silco’s manipulations? A way to force her out of her room? She could still feel the ghostly heat licking at her skin, hearing the crackle of flames consuming everything she held dear.
But then, against her better judgment, she stood. The quiet sound of the mattress creaking as she moved surprised even Silco. He watched her warily as she brushed past him without a word.
Y/N knew he knew her weakness. She knew he could use her against her, but right now all that mattered was Powder.
“Where’s her room?” she asked, her voice flat.
He gestured silently down the hallway, and Y/N followed his direction without looking back.
Standing in front of Powder’s door, she hesitated for a beat before raising her hand and knocking gently. “Bluejay?” Her voice softened into something almost unrecognizable, a sliver of warmth peaking through.
The silence on the other side was suffocating, stretching out long enough for Y/N to feel the weight of Silco’s eyes boring into her back. But just as she opened her mouth to speak again, the door creaked open.
“Hey—”
The word barely escaped her lips before she was knocked backward. Powder flung herself into Y/N’s arms, gripping her tightly as if afraid she might vanish at any moment. Powder buried her face into Y/N’s chest, her small frame trembling with gut-wrenching sobs.
“Wh-Where—” She choked out, her voice cracking between gasps. “Are you going to leave me too?”
The question hit Y/N like a blow to the stomach. Her breath caught, and for a moment, she couldn’t speak. She looked down at Powder’s tear-streaked face, the raw desperation in her wide eyes. Y/N’s own tears began to pool, stinging the corners of her vision.
“Oh, Powder…” Her voice trembled as she wrapped her arms around the sobbing girl, holding her as tightly as she could. “Never… I promise I’ll never leave you. Never.”
Powder’s sniffles softened into quieter whimpers as she nodded, clinging to Y/N with all the strength she had left. Y/N reached up, gently wiping the tears from the girl’s flushed cheeks.
“What do you think about soup?” Y/N asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Powder nodded hesitantly, her gaze still wet and puffy. “The chicken one?”
“Your favorite one,” Y/N assured her with a faint smile, standing and lifting Powder effortlessly into her arms.
As she turned back toward Silco, her expression hardened again. “You have a kitchen, right?” She asked, her tone sharp with an edge of authority.
Silco nodded, his usual composure momentarily shaken. “Yes. Right down the hall.”
Without another word, Y/N walked past him, her grip on Powder secure and protective. Silco lingered in the doorway, watching the two retreating figures.
Powder’s red, tear-streaked face peeked over Y/N’s shoulder, and for a fleeting moment, Silco’s features softened.
He sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair as he turned away, retreating into the shadows of the hallway.
_____________________________________________________
Blood trailed out of her stomach, thick rivulets soaking into the ground beneath her. It was warm at first, uncomfortably warm, but soon the cold of the earth seeped through her clothes, biting at her skin.
Y/N coughed violently, her breath hitching as her chest heaved, her vision swimming behind a veil of tears. She tried to move, but her body felt like lead. Every gasp sent fresh waves of pain slicing through her ribs, each one sharper than the last.
Her blood coated everything. Her hands were slick with it, trembling as they pressed against the dirt, but it only made the ground smear with more crimson. Her clothes clung to her skin, drenched in the cloying liquid. The smell of iron was suffocating, sharp and metallic, twisting her stomach in revulsion.
She hated blood. The sight, the texture, the smell, but now it was everywhere. It was hers, and it was under her nails, wedged deep. She’d never be able to scrub it out.
Was someone coming? Was anyone even looking for her? Y/N didn’t know. The thought sent a pang of despair through her, but it was quickly overshadowed by a sharp, searing pain that exploded across her abdomen.
She gasped, choking as her mouth filled with blood. The taste was bitter and metallic, flooding her senses as she doubled over and collapsed against the cold, unyielding ground.
Her cheek pressed against the dirt, rough and cool against her fevered skin. She lay there, motionless except for the shallow, uneven rise and fall of her chest.
Blood dripped from the corner of her lips, pooling in a slow, dark stain beneath her. Her gaze turned upward, past the carnage of her body, to the endless expanse of sky.
She thought of Jinx. Where was she? Was she safe? Her heart clenched at the thought of the girl finding her like this. Y/N didn’t know what was worse: Jinx witnessing her death or never knowing what had happened to her.
Y/N swallowed the pain, though it burned like fire in her throat, and gritted her teeth. For some reason, something or someone pushed her to get through this moment.
With a shaky breath, she forced herself to move. Her body protested with every inch. Her muscles screamed, her ribs ached, and her vision darkened at the edges, but she turned onto her stomach.
The dirt smeared across her face and clothes as she dragged herself forward, inch by agonizing inch. Every movement sent pain ricocheting through her body, but she didn’t stop. She couldn’t stop. Jinx needed her, and she would crawl through hell itself to protect her.
“Mom?”
A small voice broke through the haze. Panic surged in Y/N’s chest, momentarily cutting through the pain. No. No, no, no! She wasn’t supposed to be here. She couldn’t see this.
“Jinx…” Y/N rasped, but her voice was little more than a whisper, drowned out by the sound of her own labored breathing.
“Y/N!” Another voice, deeper and gravelly, snapped her attention. Through her blurring vision, she could make out figures approaching. Silco, Jinx, and… Sevika?
Y/N coughed, her body convulsing as more blood spilled from her lips. She forced her head to lift, barely able to make out their faces before the weight of exhaustion pulled her back down. Her eyes fluttered shut as her body grew colder, the edges of her mind slipping further into darkness.
“Y/N!” Jinx’s scream tore through the air, raw and heartbroken. She dropped to her knees beside her, her hands hovering over the blood-soaked body. Tears streaked her cheeks, her face twisting into something desperate and anguished.
“Please, Y/N, please!” Jinx’s voice cracked as she shook her sister’s shoulders gently. “Wake up! You can’t leave me!”
Silco stood a few feet away, his expression frozen in a rare moment of shock. Y/N was meticulous, a fighter to the bone. For her to end up like this was unthinkable. His mind raced, running through the possible culprits. Someone had orchestrated this, and they would pay.
“She hates blood. Why is she covered in so much blood?” Jinx whispered, her voice trembling as she stared at Y/N’s form. Her hands trembled as she turned to Silco, her wide, tear-filled eyes pleading. “Save her! You have to save her!”
Sevika knelt beside Y/N, pressing two fingers to her neck. After a tense moment, she nodded. “She’s got a pulse,” Her voice was steady despite the tension in her jaw.
Without hesitation, Sevika scooped Y/N’s limp body into her arms. Blood seeped into her clothes as she stood, but she didn’t flinch.
“Get her home. Now,” Silco ordered, his voice low and deadly. His hands clenched into fists at his sides as his gaze swept over the scene. “Find who did this. And bring them to me.”
Silco watched them go, his jaw tight as he turned his attention back to the bloodied ground. Whoever had done this had made a grave mistake. And they would learn the cost of crossing him.
Y/N’s head lulled aimlessly, her expression peaceful as she seemed to drift off somewhere. It was a beautiful place, though she wouldn’t remember it when she’d wake up. But she knew it was beautiful.
‘You still have a promise to keep, Y/N.’
_____________________________________________________
“I must thank you, Y/N,” Silco spoke, his gravelly voice cutting through the stillness of the room.
Y/N sat across from him, her posture tense as one of Silco’s medics worked deftly to wrap the bandages around her wounds.
The faint scent of antiseptic hung in the air, mingling with the smoke curling from Silco’s cigar. “For taking care of Jinx.”
Y/N swallowed hard, her throat tight. There was something about the way he said her Powder’s new name, Jinx, that sent a prickle of unease down her spine. It rolled off his tongue too naturally, too comfortably, as though it belonged to her entirely.
“She’s my sister,” Y/N replied firmly, her voice steady despite the storm brewing inside her.
Silco tilted his head, the glowing ember of his cigar illuminating the sharp planes of his face. “And yet, I would think of her more as a daughter to you.” He exhaled a stream of smoke with deliberate calm, his visible eye gleaming with something unreadable. “She called you her mother, did she not?”
“She did,” Y/N admitted reluctantly, shifting under his piercing gaze. Her fingers clenched in her lap, knuckles whitening. “Whatever Jinx wants to call me, I don’t have a preference.”
“Oh, but I think you do.” Silco’s tone was laced with quiet certainty, the kind that cut deeper than any blade. He took another long drag from his cigar before letting the smoke escape in slow, curling wisps. The pungent smell burned in her lungs, making her feel as though the air itself were conspiring against her. “Jinx needs someone to train her.”
“Sevika can train her,” Y/N said curtly, her words more of a defense than a suggestion.
Silco merely hummed, his calm demeanor unshaken. “And you would trust Sevika with that responsibility?” he asked, his tone faintly amused.
Y/N feigned an eye roll, “No,” She admitted, pushing herself to her feet with a wince as the motion tugged at her bandages. “I’ll train her. If that’s all you wanted to say, you could’ve just come out with it. Whatever game you’re playing, whether it’s using Powder against me or something else, I don’t care.”
“Emotions are a volatile thing,” Silco murmured, ignoring her defiance. He turned his gaze fully on her, his infected eye glowing with eerie intensity. “Especially anger. You were reckless during your last mission, and that recklessness is why you suffered the consequences. Be grateful I decided to look out for you.”
Y/N narrowed her eyes, the sting of his words fueling the fire in her chest. “What? So now I’m in debt to you?”
“You are my daughter just as much as Jinx is,” Silco said evenly, his calm almost infuriating. He took another slow pull from his cigar before continuing. “I care for you just as much as I care for her.”
“We’re assets,” Y/N shot back, her voice sharper than she intended. Silco turned his head to face her fully, the soft orange glow of his infected eye swirling like a slow-burning ember.
“And is that what you truly believe?” he asked, his tone devoid of malice but laced with curiosity.
“I speak my mind, Silco,” Y/N replied, her voice cold.
“Indeed, you do,” Silco said, his lips curling into the faintest semblance of a smile. “I merely wish to express my gratitude. I’m glad you’re alive, Y/N. You fought with determination and skill.”
Y/N froze at his words, her body rigid. Gratitude? Praise? From Silco? It didn’t add up. What exactly was he playing at?
Silco leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful. “Despite our differences,” He said softly, his orange eye gleaming as it fixed on hers, “I care for both of you. Never doubt that.”
Y/N swallowed hard, suppressing the knot of frustration forming in her throat. Without saying another word, she nodded curtly and turned on her heel, stepping briskly out of the office. The heavy door closed behind her with a soft click, and she let out a sigh she hadn’t realized she’d been holding.
Dragging a hand through her hair, she muttered to herself, trying to gather her thoughts. (For those who cover their hair or don’t have any, my apologies for not being more inclusive!)
Her steps echoed down the quiet hallway until she suddenly stopped. A faint, familiar energy pricked at her senses.
“Jinx,” She said, her voice steady, “I know you’re there.”
Out of nowhere, the blue-haired girl landed on the floor with an exaggerated huff, as if she’d been caught mid-sneak. Her electric blue locks, now long and swept back into a messy ponytail, swayed with the movement. She looked up with a playful, slightly sheepish expression, brushing a strand of hair out of her face.
“What?” Jinx asked, feigning innocence as if she hadn’t been caught red-handed.
Y/N crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean, ‘What’?” Her tone was sharp but not unkind, one hand shifted to her hip as she added pointedly, “You’re supposed to be sleeping.”
Jinx groaned dramatically, throwing her hands in the air as she plopped onto the floor in an exaggerated sprawl. “I know, I know! I tried! But I was bored, and I couldn’t find you!”
Y/N shook her head, her stern expression softening into a smile. “You really don’t make things easy, do you?”
Jinx perked up instantly. “So? What were you guys talking about in there? Sounded important.”
“Nothing important,” Y/N replied with a soft chuckle, her smile widening slightly as she crouched down to meet Jinx’s gaze. “But starting tomorrow, you and I have work to do.”
Jinx tilted her head, curious but intrigued. “Work? Like… fun work or boring work?”
“Training,” Y/N clarified, her tone firm but encouraging. “No excuses this time. You’re going to need it.”
ISSUE 2 | LEGACY
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
<< PREV | NEXT >> TRANSCRIPT BELOW
We have another exclusive with Iris Liddell of Liddell Genomics, and as always, I consider myself privileged to breathe the same air… it’s truly humbling to stand in your illustrious presence.
IRIS LIDDELL: You honor me.
Of course, you’re here today to discuss more than your own accomplishments, incredible as they are.
LIDDELL: Please, my good sir. My company’s market domination would never have been possible without the work of the founder of Liddell Genomics, Alice Liddell. Or indeed the work of my direct predecessor, former CEO Elise Liddell, who oversaw the merger with Hinagiku Robotics…
Before she mysteriously vanished a decade ago, as I recall.
LIDDELL: Unsolved to this very day.
It must have been very difficult for you, losing your mother at such a tender age…
LIDDELL: Oh, not at all.
As resilient as one would expect, from the heiress of the company that some say rules the world.
LIDDELL: My, my. People do say the most curious things… LG may provide life-extending healthcare for upwards of 97% of government officials in the first world, but we prefer to stay out of politics.
An impressive figure, to be sure! On that note, we’d like to ask about your upcoming biographical film, the Liddell Legacy, set to release across all streaming services on February 13th.
LIDDELL: Go right ahead.
Until this point, details about the Liddells have been very sparse, limited to matters of public record and biographic blurbs from your PR department… what made you decide to so freely share information about your life, and the lives of your two predecessors?
LIDDELL: The short and sweet answer is that I believe the public has a right to know. LG cares for the people of this world from the point they’re first laid down in their cradles, to the time they enter their graves. We maintain the very largest collection of personal data ever put to record; highly detailed dossiers. Why shouldn’t our beloved customers get to access me, the same as I access them?
So it’s a matter of reciprocity?
LIDDELL: It’s also about building trust. I want to establish a relationship with all the bright, beautiful consumers of LG gene therapies. I am not merely the architect of your destinies, shaping your resistance to cancers and diseases, granting you all the bodies of your dreams. I am also your close, personal friend.
I feel closer to you already!
LIDDELL: I am so very happy to hear that.
Moving along, I have to say, one of the subjects I’m the most excited to learn about is the founder of Liddell Genomics, Alice Liddell. She created the company from the ground up, humbly using her vast inheritance in pursuit of her passion for genetic perfection… only to step down from the throne of her genemod empire a scant decade later. In terms of historical significance, Alice Liddell is comparable to the great conquerors of the ancient world, but we know more about Alexander the Great or Napoleon than the woman who created the company that doubled the human lifespan & cured the common cold.
LIDDELL: A lack of documentation that our film seeks to correct.
I don’t want to ask for spoilers, but what are you willing to tell our readers now?
LIDDELL: I can say that the focus of the film will not only illuminate much of what went on behind the curtain here at Liddell Genomics during its grand and tumultuous creation, but also bring to light the deeply private details of the personal lives of my predecessors… withholding nothing.
Details like what exactly the Founder gets up to, these days…?
LIDDELL: I’m aware of the rumors, good sir. We don’t need to play coy.
Ah, you found me out.
LIDDELL: Ask your burning question.
Is it true that Alice Liddell was placed in cryostasis, around the end of her reign?
LIDDELL: …yes. It was her will.
So the rumor is true? That’s incredible!
LIDDELL: At the time, our anti-aging technology was somewhat more primitive. Foremost in the Founder’s thoughts, after securing LG’s grip on the private health market and cloning herself an heir, was ensuring her own youth would spring abundant and eternal.
So the genemod mogul Alice Liddell was as afraid of aging as anyone…
LIDDELL: To the world, she was the tech tycoon who forged a new era in blood, with ruthless business acumen. To me, she was Grandmother. A playful and dreamy woman, often lost in her own imagination, desiring nothing more or less than to vanish into her sweet and simple dreams.
So it’s more involved than just being put on ice.
LIDDELL: That’s correct. Just as she outlined in her personal designs, she’s been placed in a cryostatic slumber. The exact details are proprietary, but much of her natural bioliquid is drained through dialysis, and replaced with a potent cocktail of freeze-resistant artificial blood and neurostims. While her heart might only beat once per minute, her brain is quite active in REM.
She really is dreaming…
LIDDELL: It’s my own dearest dream to ensure that her dream continues unabated, weaving into perpetuity.
Eternal life?
LIDDELL: As near as the billions of credits generated by Liddell Genomics will allow. We’re further refining the process of life extension every day. So you see, good sir, that what might at first blush appear to be the story of an autocratic tech giant dominating the global health market… is actually the gentle and relatable tale, of a family seeking to fulfill the dream of their beloved Grandmother to remain joyful and beautiful at any expense.
It’s what anyone with a heart and billions of credits at their disposal would do.
LIDDELL: It’s part of why I’m so proud to share our story with the masses.
< prev | next >
Blue was your new favorite color.
How could it not be with what you had just seen? Nanami and Sukuna had probably been weirded out by how fast you had entered your apartment and thrown yourself to the couch.
It wasn’t your fault though. Who had those kind of eyes?
Ocean blue eyes that made you feel like you’d sink and drown in them, yet still thank him. Clear as the sky, and shining like a Zircon. They seemed eternal.
You groan, grabbing the closest cushion and screaming into it. You were acting like a teenager.
A lovesick teenage girl, if you’re specific.
Your moment is interrupted by a knock on your door, so ignoring the how hot your face feels you stand up lazily and head to it.
“Sorry, guys, just needed a momen…”, you trail off as you’re met with not one of your guards, but a pretty brunette.
Pretty brunette with a cigarette residing in her lips.
“You probably thought I was muscle 1 and 2 here, right?”, her voice is muffled by the unlit cigarette so she soon takes it off, “I’m Ieiri Shoko, right across the hall”
“A pleasure, I’m Y/L/N Y/N” you smile sweetly.
“I know, sweetie” she whispers playfully, “Just wanted to ask if you wanted to join me? I’m gonna walk around while taking a smoke, thought it be good for the newbie to sightsee some of the university’s domain”
“Oh. Oh!” You nod excitedly, “Yeah! I’d love that actually, just let me grab my purse real quick”
Shoko nods and you hurry to grab your purse before joining her. But as soon as you take one step with her, two other pairs of feet startle you.
Shoko side eyes them, “I’m assuming they’re joining us?”
“Uh…” they nod making you sigh, “I… I guess so…”
Shoko eyes you carefully before shrugging nonchalantly, “Whatever”
You appreciate how nonchalant she acts, knowing it isn’t nice to be followed, especially after Nitta and Higuruma join.
Both of you silently take the elevator before going out the building. As soon as you’re out, Shoko lights her cigarette and places it on her mouth, taking a big inhale.
“You mind the smoke?” She ask after exhaling.
You shake your head, “Many politicians smoke on our poker games, although they prefer cigars”
“Fancy” another intake, “Wanna try?”
You hurriedly shake your head, already imagining the headlines if a photo of you were to be taken as you tried smoking.
Shoko doesn’t pressure you, instead she restarts walking and you follow her silently.
Until you stop feeling cement under your feet and instead hear the crunching of leaves. Your eyes widen as you see the sight before you.
“Welcome to my favorite place” Shoko smiles faintly, “Paradise inside Hell”
You don’t laugh at her slight joke about university, too mesmerized by the sight in front of you.
Many trees, as green as anyone could imagine, surrounding a light blue lagoon that has a little wooden bridge for students to cross. Everything enclosed because of the tall trees making the sun slightly make it through the spaces, giving it a magical twinkling atmosphere. And many beautiful vibrant wild flowers.
It was what as a child you’d imagine a fairy forest would look like.
The wind was rustling, the leaves of the trees and the birds were singing along, and you had never felt more free.
“Are you high?”
You snap out of your daze, “W-What?!”
“You had a weird look just now” she shrugs.
“I-I’m not” you cross your arms, “It’s just… it’s beautiful”
Shoko grins faintly, “Yeah, it is. Come on”
She takes you over to the bridge where she takes out another cigarette to lit.
“So, Miss First Daughter…”
“Y/N” you correct her.
“So, Miss Y/N First Daughter” you sigh “why did you come here?”
“I’m sorry?”
“Not trying to be rude, just curious” she shrugs, taking a hit of her cigarette, “Seems too far from home”
“Everybody goes far for college”
“You’re not everybody though, you’re… different”
“Maybe I’m not really that different”
“And, yet, to their eyes you’ll always be it” she takes a deep hit, “Fucking stereotypes, right?”
You frown before sighing, turning to look at the lagoon in front of you that’s being bathe in soft sunlight.
She was right. No matter what you did or how you presented yourself, you’d always be the President’s daughter. You could try as hard as you’d like but nothing would change that fact, and nothing would change the fact that people would treat you as they found convenient.
You side eyed Shoko and thought that maybe not everyone would treat you according to their convenience. Maybe someone would treat you with sincerity, view you as an equal, just as she had done now.
You smiled faintly. Everything would by fine.
⛊ ☼ ⛉ ☼ ⛊ ☼ ⛉ ☼ ⛊
You had thought you’d blend in. Thought you’d be able to show everyone that you were one of them. But you just had to wear the newest set from Burberry, that hadn’t even come out.
You looked just as if you’d come right out of a Vogue magazine, while everyone else wore jeans and sneakers.
Your skirt felt tighter around you, and your matching vest suddenly itch. Why did you have to wear this? Did you even owned a pair of jeans? You must, right? You could feel the stares of the students around you as you entered the classroom.
Kill me now, you thought.
You sigh. You’d keep your head high. Giving the matching headband, you make your way to one of the middle seats.
Only for the ones surrounding you being occupy by your four bodyguards, leaving at least two seats between you and them as they made sure no one else even considered joining you.
Keeping your face down, you try to focus on setting the iPad you’d use for taking notes. Trying to ignore the stares, muting the whispers.
But they didn’t stop, not even when the professor started his lesson. You felt vulnerable.
“Wasn’t she taller on TV?”
“I thought her hair was darker.”
“What is she wearing?”
“Do you think she really speaks six languages? Looks kinda dumb… no offense”
Mute them. Mute them.
You were trying to take some notes as your professors explained, but the whispers seemed to just get louder as time passed. You wouldn’t be able to take it much longer, you felt too exposed like this.
You needed an out. But… what would they say if you just stood and left?
Was this how it was gonna be from now on?
“Okay!” Your professor finally calls out, “I know I’m not as pretty, but come on, work with me”
Your hand on your Apple pen tightens as you try to stare without an ounce of discomfort at your professor. You couldn’t let yourself be affected. Not with these many eyes on you.
Fake it, Y/N, you remind yourself, just fake it.
“I’m pretty, why is no one staring at me?”
You turn around, startled, towards the deep soothing voice. Shining blue Zircon eyes and an award winning smile. Striking white hair that matched his pale white skin.
He was… beautiful. Ethereal.
“That’s more like it! Appreciate your TA more” he pouts jokingly, “I’m not meant to blend in, so please don’t be modest”
And he was your savior.
Everyone’s attention had left you as soon as he spoke. And he kept it. His playful smile and the twinkle in his eyes as he joked around had everyone hooked.
The class kept going as if nothing happened and nobody looked your way again. All thanks to him.
You run as fast as your heeled loafers let you, trying to catch up to him. But his legs were way longer and you’d never catch him with four people surrounding you.
But you had to thank him.
“Hey! Hey!” You screamed, “Hey! You! Hey!”
Nothing.
You groan.
“HEY, YOU! JACK FROST!”
That made him stop… along with everyone else. You blush under all the stares but ignore them to hurriedly make your way to the white haired god-looking guy.
Who’s currently looking at you as if trying very hard to not laugh in your face.
“Jack Frost?”
“First thing that came to mind” you excuse yourself rapidly, “I just wanted to thank you”
“By calling me Jack Frost?”
“It just came out, okay?” You sigh, “Thank you, for what you did in there… I was ready to run out of there when you stepped in, so thank you”
His grins softens, “No problem, Blair Waldorf”
“What?”
“Gossip Girl’s true queen B” he explains, making you frown in confusion, “Wait… you haven’t watched Gossip Girl?”
You shake your head making him gasp.
“What girl hasn’t watched Gossip Girl? It’s like the show for teenage girls”
“And you watched it…?”
“It’s not just for girls, okay? I appreciate some drama” he shakes his head in disapproval, “Can’t believe you are like her modern version with your cute matching set and headband, yet have no idea who she is. The disappointment”
“Is it that popular?”
“You asking that is a total insult. It should be illegal to be this uncultured” he sighs, “Wanna thank me for what I did in there? Watch Gossip Girl”
You laugh silently at the odd request but nod, feeling slightly warm once you realize the comfort in which you both speak to one another. It was refreshing.
“I’m Y/L/N Y/N” you hold your hand out.
He stares at your hand with a playful twinkle, laughing slightly before shaking it with his own.
“Gojo Satoru” his grin widens, “a.k.a. Jack Frost, Miss Waldorf”
You feel yourself smile, “A pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Mr. Frost”
“Likewise, my lady”
⛊ ☼ ⛉ ☼ ⛊ ☼ ⛉ ☼ ⛊
Maybe you had to go to the doctor. It couldn’t be normal to feel this giddy or smile this much. The way your stomach was twisting and turning by itself couldn’t be normal. Also your face was hot, like freakingly so.
And it all had happened after meeting Satoru.
Just remembering the encounter made you giggle to yourself as you hug your precious teddy bear close to your chest.
Maybe you were going crazy.
That must be it. Sitting up, you start contemplating. You nod, standing up, and heading in your pajamas to your door and into the hallway. Kento stares at you with a frown but you ignore him. You’re on a mission.
You stop in front of the door and knock softly.
Footsteps are soon heard and you contemplate running for away but the door opens. All air leaves your lungs once you realize it is not Shoko in front of you.
“And who might you be?”
His voice is deep yet warm. And even though he is tall nothing about him makes him seem intimidating. Well, nothing except his looks.
What the hell was going on in this university? Was one of its requirements to be out-of-this-word good looking? It was honestly insane.
If Satoru had been like the dazzling, bright, mesmerizing sun, then the guy in front of her was the mysterious, beautiful, pure moon. Pale skin, dark eyes and night dark shoulder-length silky hair.
Satoru had been beautiful in a godly way. But this guy was beautiful in a fairytale way.
“You’re not Shoko” you whisper.
He smiles, sweetly, “Thankfully I’m not. She’s across from you on the other end”
“Oh” you stupidly answer, “I was too in my head, I’m so sorry”
“No worries. It’s not every night I get to see a pretty girl in a silk nightgown”
You squeal crossing your arm to try to cover yourself a bit, blushing as you hear his deep laugh.
“Here” he gives you a leather jacket.
“N-no. Don’t worry. I don’t have to go that far”
“I know. Still, take it” he smiles, “You seem too self conscious right now to be comfortable”
You smile at his consideration, taking the way-too-big-for-you leather jacket and putting it on.
“Isn’t it too late to go wandering?”
“I wasn’t wandering, I was going to visit a… friend?”
“You don’t sound to sure” he teases, “Was it an emergency at least? Shoko appreciated her beauty sleep”
“It could be” you try to defend yourself.
“So… you don’t know?”
“It c-could be”
He nods, biting his lips to not laugh, “If it’s that important, does it need to be with her or can I help you? I’m the RA here, so you don’t think I’m trying something freaky”
“You’re the RA? I didn’t know that”
“Your little informant didn’t give you that important detail?” He jokes, “Maybe you sure consider lowering his salary”
“Definitely. Who knows what else he got wrong? Is your middle name not Fernando?”
“Guilty”
You both laugh slightly. You don’t even notice the way he silently eyes you and your surroundings, as if alert.
“I get what they meant now”
“Huh?”
“Shoko and Satoru. They mentioned you were interesting, guess they were right”
You feel your chest warm, as if you’d been hugged, “They mentioned me?”
He nods, “Yeah. Is that a surprise?”
“I mean… to be mention by people who actually got to know me at least a little because they actually talked and listened to me? Yeah”
“It’s tough?”
“You don’t even know the slightest” you sigh.
“Then, good thing none of us really care about backgrounds” he smiles caringly, “You should join us this Friday, a friend of us is hosting a party”
“Party?”
“Yeah, seems like you need to have some fun. Loosen up a little”
“I don’t know…”
“Think about it. No pressure, okay?” You nods, “Now go to bed, you have class early tomorrow”
“Aye, aye, captain!”
You wave goodbye before turning around and happily make your way back to your studio. Not even questioning how he knew that you had an early schedule the next day.
How could you when you were on cloud nine after making three new acquaintances your age for the first time?
You threw yourself on your bed, laughing out loud in excitement. Was this what it was like to make friends? Were you finally able to live some normal experiences?
The hold on the leather jacket you were wearing tightens as you hug yourself, letting his strong cologne be inhaled by you.
You had friends. You were not alone anymore.
Prev (the buildup before the buildup lol)
It took stealth, cunning, and ALOT of alchemists fire. But Aspen and the group managed to break the tieflings AND that prick Wulbren from the Moonrise prison. They guided them back to Last Light where Rolan had a slightly heated but happy reunion with Cal and Lia.
Now we're getting smutty >:3
tags: Smut with plot, Rolan x Named Tav (Aspen), PiV, oral (fem recieving), slight orgasm denial, bath sex (kinda), biting, some slight domminess from the both of them, emotional sex, fluff, aftercare.
I think I've corrected most spelling mistakes but I've been staring at this fic so long my eyes started to glaze over lol so be gentle please <3
Tumblr media
Everyone's back at camp. Rolan is busy taking his bags and weapons off and sitting slumped over on a chair by the fire. Aspen, already in her nightclothes, approaches him.
"Love, I've managed to aquire a room at Last Light for us to spend some time together. Time alone."
"How in the hells did you manage that?"
"My wits and charming personality of course!"
Rolan smiles and raises an eyebrow.
"Ugh fine, I gave Jaheira 50 gold and a bottle of mead from our reserves. But don't worry, there's some wine in our room for us to share"
Rolan stands and rubs his aching back.
"Hm, lead the way then"
They head to their new shared room for the night. Aspen opens the door for him and follows him in, locking the door behind them. The room is sparse, but the bed has been cleaned up and given fresh linens. Lit candles are spread throughout the room. There's a bathtub full of hot water and soap bubbles, steam slowly rising from the surface. Next to it, a table with two glasses and a bottle of wine on top. A small stool sits nearby with two large fluffy towels neatly folded.
"This all your doing?"
"Of course"
"It's so...Romantic."
Aspen laughs. "Amazing what people will do for those they love isn't it? Right then, lets get you out of those clothes"
"Straight to business then huh?"
"Oh no mister 'I do everything alone', I'm taking care of you tonight."
Rolan shrugs and takes off the shirt he was wearing then gets to work on his belt. The toned muscles and ridges that line his torso still make Aspen weak in the knees. Aspen takes the shirt from him and folds it, setting it aside on the nightstand by the bed. He takes off his pants and she does the same with those.
"No undergarments today?"
"I might have left in a panic this morning"
"Hm, I'd say so. Right then, into the tub with you!"
Rolan removes his shoes then walks toward the bath. He then turns his head over his shoulder to see Aspen taking off her own clothes. Her body; lean, soft, and patterned with patches of golden scales along her chest, back, arms, and legs. She is still the most beautiful woman Rolan has ever seen. Finally, she unties the red ribbon in her hair. Her strawberry blonde waves cascade down her back and shoulders.
"Well? Gonna sit there gawking or get in?"
"You're beautiful."
"So are you, now hop to it."
He finally steps in the full tub and sinks himself into the water. It's perfectly warm. The ache in his muscles start to subside. He sits on one of the small built-in benches in the tub and splashes water on his face, slicking his hair back in the same motion.
"Gods, you're hot when you do that."
"You coming in or are we just gonna sit here staring at each other?"
Aspen smiles and walks over to the bathtub. Rolan reaches out and grabs her hand while she steps in. She stradles his lap and wraps her arms around his shoulders.
"This is nice"
"Mhm"
Aspen moves to his neck where she presses gentle kisses against his warm skin. Soft moans escape from his mouth as he runs his hands along her back. Aspen then moves to grab the bottle of wine. She pops the cork and pours them both a glass, handing one to Rolan and sitting next to him.
"Shall we propose a toast?" Rolan says.
Aspen laughs. "How about, 'To accepting help?"
"You're never letting me live this down are you? Ugh fine. To accepting help"
They clink their glasses then take a sip. Aspens eyes widen as she looks at the glass.
"Ooh I picked a good one".
They both set their glasses down and Aspen reaches for his hand under the water.
"Sit in front of me, love"
Rolan does what is asked and sits between her legs in the tub. He is slightly below her but the water only reaches up to his chest. Aspen then runs her hands through his wet hair and starts to massage his scalp. He melts into her and his eyelids start to flutter.
"Oh gods"
"Already making lewd noises and we aren't even having sex yet." Aspen giggles.
"I'm not the only one here with magic hands, it seems."
Aspen then moves her hands to his shoulders and continues the massage. Rolan is trying his hardest not to moan, but fails.
"It's alright love, it's just us. Let it out"
Rolan scoots up in the tub so he's sitting between her legs on the ledge. Aspen moves her hands to his arms, then runs her fingers along the ridges on his ribs, along his chest, down his torso, then finally squeezing his thighs. Rolan pants and mewls quietly as he squirms under her touch. His pelvis rising as he tries to guide her to where he wants her to touch most.
"Impatient are we?" Aspen purrs into Rolans ear then gently licks and bites the tips of them. Her hands move back up to gently hold his neck and tease one of his nipples. She drags her lips down to the space between his neck and shoulder and bites down gently.
"Ah!- Hmmph"
Her hand finally makes its way down to his length while the other still holds his throat. She wraps her fingers around him and teases the tip slightly.
"Hells" Rolan growls. He wraps his arm behind him and rubs the back of her neck. She's still kissing and biting his shoulders. Leaving little love marks in her wake.
Rolan decides he's had enough. He turns around, sits next to Aspen, then lifts her onto his lap, facing him. Aspen giggles and reaches for her wine once more. Drinking what remained in the glass while Rolan grinds himself against her and runs his hands along her back again. She sets the empty glass down and wraps her arms around his neck. She adjusts her hips so his length is between her slit, and starts to rub herself against him. Rolan squeezes her hips and stares at her with lidded eyes and his mouth slightly open. He grabs the back of her head and crashes his lips into hers. A small moan of relief escapes from Aspen as her lips part and let his tongue in. The grinding becomes more desperate and Rolan can feel himself getting close to the edge.
Rolan then reaches his arms under her ass and stands up from the tub. Aspen wraps her legs around his waist and rests her head over his shoulder. He steps out of the tub and sets her down, grabbing both towels. He wraps his towel around his waist and puts hers over her head and rubs it around playfully. Aspen laughs and grabs the towel to wrap it around herself as Rolan goes in for another deep kiss. Their lips part and Rolan walks over to grab his own glass of wine and drains the contents in one gulp.
He returns to Aspen, who has finished drying herself and dropped her towel to the floor. Rolan does the same and smirks.
"You. On the bed."
"Ohh, such authority. What have I done to deserve the 'future archmage' treatment?"
"You existed. You're smart, strong, and powerful. You sit there looking all beautiful and you feel incredible to touch. You drive me insane, Aspen. That's what you do. It's what you've always done."
"Aweee, I love you too"
Rolan laughs. "Now, on the bed."
Aspen does as she's told. She crawls onto the bed and lies on her back, propping herself up on her elbows. Rolan is fully erect. His length leaking and twitching from desperation. But he won't indulge himself just yet. Rolan then crawls on top of her and their lips meet once more. His length pressed against her stomach and twitching again from the friction. He hooks one of his legs under hers and moves it upwards. Aspen lays down fully and wraps her arms around him. Running her hands along his back. Rolan moves his lips downward and kisses her neck, then her chest. He grabs the supple flesh of her breasts and wraps his lips around her left nipple. Sucking gently. She squirms under him and starts to grind her pelvis against him the same way he did her. Not yet satisfied, he kisses his way down until his head is between her thighs. His hot breath on her slit is almost too much to handle. She looks down at him, mouth agape and panting slightly. Rolan flicks his golden eyes up at her and goes for her inner thigh with a smirk. He starts kissing and biting her flesh. Causing Aspen to cry out in desperation.
"Gods above Rolan" Aspen pants. She tangles her hand into his hair and grinds her pelvis against anything it can touch. Rolan decides she's suffered enough. He wraps both his arms around her thighs and nuzzles into her.
"Oh yes!" she cries out. Rolan licks and sucks on her clit. Then shoves his tongue into her as far as he can. He can't get enough of her taste. He knows exactly where her spots are. Changing the speed and pressure of his tongue to keep her right on the edge without going over. He digs his nails into the flesh of her thighs while he eats her out as if starving. The desperate moans and cries music to his ears.
"Rolan, my love, please. Please."
He increases the pressure of his tongue and plays with her clit until she's twitching and squirming with pleasure under him. Her grip tightens on his scalp as she rides his face through her orgasm. She collapses down onto the mattress and breathes heavily. Rolan's not done though. He rises up and spreads her thighs further with his hips, ready to insert himself.
"Do you need a moment?"
"Fuck no, inside, now." Aspen pants.
"Now who's the authoritarian?" Rolan says with a laugh. He leans down and hooks his leg under hers once more to to spread her apart. He cradles the back of her head with one hand and props himself up with the other. He kisses her deepy and slides himself in slowly. They both gasp into each other as they adjust. Rolan then starts thrusting, slowly at first. Matching the tempo of their kisses. She feels too good. Thank the gods she already came once. Everything about this woman is intoxicating. The movement of her body under him, the lingering taste of her on his tongue, the sweetness of her skin. Rolan growls, moves his head to her shoulder and bites down. Causing Aspen to yelp in surprise. He feels equally heavenly. The ridges that line his cock manage to hit all the right spots. It's not long before the two are approaching the edge again. Rolan grunts and groans into her shoulder while Aspen wraps her arms around him, kissing anywhere her lips can reach. They both grind into each other, increasing in speed.
"I love you, gods I love you" Rolan purrs.
"I love you too."
Hearing those words was enough to drive them both over the edge. Rolan whines into Aspens ear as he cums harder than he has ever before. Filling her to the brim. He keeps thrusting as Aspen rides out her own orgasm, then he collapses onto her. They both lie there, breathing heavily for a while. Rolan nuzzles himself further into the crook of her neck. And Aspen brushes her fingertips along his back. After a while, Aspen notices a slight wetness gathering where Rolan's face is buried, his breath stuttering.
"Rolan darling, are you crying?"
Rolan lifts his face and his eyes are wet and red. His lips in a slight pout.
"No"
Aspen laughs and adjusts herself so she's sitting up slightly.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothings wrong I'm just- really happy. With you, I mean"
"And that's making you cry?"
"Evidently"
"You're so cute" Aspen says as she cradles his face in her hands. Rolan then notices the clear bite marks on her shoulders and neck. Some of which had drawn blood.
"Oh shit, did I do that?"
"Well, you are the only one who has bitten me in the past ten minutes" She laughs.
"Hells, I didn't realise- does it hurt?"
"Not really."
"Did you...Enjoy it?"
"I thought that was obvious."
Rolan takes a deep sigh. He kisses her nose and pulls himself out from her with a slight groan.
"I think it's time for me to take care of you now"
Rolan stands and drains the tub just to fill it up again with fresh water and soap. He uses a spell to heat the water to the right temperature. He then walks over to where Aspen is laying, picks her up, and carries her into the tub. She sits on the ledge once more while Rolan grabs a washcloth and dips it into the water. She turns to the side, then Rolan moves her hair out of the way to press the cloth against the bite marks. Aspen hisses slightly when the hot water touches the wound. But the pain subsides quickly enough. Once the area is clean, Rolan presses gentle kisses against each bite mark. Some of which are starting to bruise already. "We'll need to get you a scarf for tomorrow, I think"
"Ha! Nope, I'm wearing these proudly" Aspen laughs. Something stirs within Rolan hearing those words. A sense of posessiveness along with pure adoration. She is his and he is hers. Fully. He had never been loved so purely before. Once all clean, they both step out from the tub and grab their towels off the floor. They pat themselves down and toss them aside once more. Rolan then lifts the sheets up and gets under them, arms open for Aspen to crawl in and rest her head on his chest. With a flick of the wrist, the candles surrounding the room are put out. They both fall asleep in each others arms within moments.
Lucerys’ big, blue eyes were staring at you as you read through his latest English test trying to see and correct the things in which he had failed. Jacaerys had asked you to help him with his studies after their mother threatened to ground him if he came home with another bad grade. In return for your work, he would do the dishes for you for an entire month; and you couldn't say no to that.
“Alright, a C+ is not terrible, but it can be better if you really put effort into studying,” you advised him. “You're a smart kid, you can definitely get an A+.”
“It’s so hard for me, there's too many concepts. I don't even know what a funnel introduction is,” he murmured, bumped out.
“It's fine, Luke, I'll help you study for your next test and you'll get at least a B+, I promise,” you said, smiling softly at him.
For a moment he just stared at you, being completely silent as he placed his chin on his hand while leaning on the table. You lifted your eyebrow and your smile slowly started to disappear.
Oh, gods, not again.
“You have a beautiful smile, you know?” he suddenly said, taking you by surprise and making you remember his little crush towards you.
“You need to stop trying to flirt with me, Luke,” you warned him. “I'm too old for you.”
“It was just a compliment,” he shrugged.
“Luke…” you said his name with a scolding tone.
“It is!” he assured you.
“Well, then thank you. That's very sweet of you.”
The main door opened just when you finished talking, Aegon was soon walking inside the loft with his hands holding at least five bags, each filled with the groceries for the month. You excused yourself before standing up and going to help him.
Things, surprisingly, were not awkward at all anymore. You were grateful for that, knowing that all your business with Aegon was now forgotten since what happened a few days ago. You both agreed, however, that you would not say anything to the rest of the guys, just so they wouldn't get the wrong impression. You were pleased, though, because now your relationship with Aegon was better, and you knew he trusted you a tiny bit more now. You were happy about it, too.
“Want some help with that?” you asked as you tried to grab some of the bags.
Aegon immediately shook his head, telling you it was okay as he moved the bags away from your hands, even when he seemed to be struggling a bit.
“Don’t worry about it,” he breathlessly said. “There's a sad, hot girl looking for you out there, you should probably go and see what's that about.” He walked past you and left you standing right in the middle of the hall.
You watched him enter the kitchen and leave the bags on the floor before he went to the fridge and drank orange juice straight out of the bottle. You sighed before you curiously peaked to the entrance only to find your best friend standing there with her backpack hanging from her shoulder. Her eyes were red — it seemed as if she was crying the whole way there, her lower lip was quivering as she held back her sobs.
“Baela?” you asked as you walked towards her, wrapping your arms around her as she laid her head on your shoulder, weeping against your shirt. “Hey, babe, what's wrong? What happened?”
“Garett and I fought today,” she sobbed, “It was bad, I took my thing and I left.”
Your hands went to her hair, your fingertips soothingly caressing her head as you comforted her. “It’s okay,” you cooed, grabbing her face and wiping her tears away with your thumbs. “Let's go talk in my room, alright? Come on.”
Baela obediently nodded as you guided her through the loft with your hand on her lower back. Aegon gave you a confused look and you just shrugged as a response. He followed you with his eyes until you disappeared around the corner and were out of his sight.
“How did you know the address?” you questioned, curiously.
“You sent it to me when you came for the first time just in case they would kidnap you or murder you,” she explained as she sniffed.
“Oh, right…” you muttered.
“It's a really nice apartment, you were lucky to find it.”
“I know, and it's quite cheap too.”
“I can't believe there's three men living here-”
All of the sudden, Jace walked out of his room; his sleepy face and swollen eyes would be proof enough to know that he had just woken up. However, what actually caught your attention was the way his body froze when he laid eyes on Baela, and also the way that she stiffened up when she saw him standing in front of her. His eyes widened as his lips slightly parted in what seemed to be a silent gasp.
“Baela…” he murmured. Suddenly you felt invisible.
“Hi,” she said in a sigh. You frowned, confused.
Standing there between them, you found yourself being taken aback by their reaction, about the way they looked at each other as if their breaths were caught up in their throats. You glanced at Baela, then at Jace, trying to find some explanation to this awkward situation, but you found nothing more than sparkling eyes in them.
“What- Did I miss something?” you asked, interrupting the moment and feeling Baela's stare falling on you.
“No,” Jace quickly replied. You could almost see him blushing. “Nothing happened.”
“Weren't we going to your room?” Baela turned to tell you, and you nodded. “Alright, let's go then.”
You resumed your path towards your room, and as soon as you crossed the door, Baela closed it behind her back. Suddenly, all traces of sadness were now replaced by something new; nervousness, perhaps. You sat on your bed staring at your friend who was now looking at you with widened eyes. You were beyond confused, filled with questions and doubts that needed to be answered before your mind would explode.
“Listen,” she started.
“I think there is a big elephant in the room right now.”
“There's a lot to unpack.”
“I can tell,” you replied. “You know Jace, don't you?”
“I do,” she nodded. “I actually know him very well. Very well.”
You stopped for a second. “How well?”
“Remember my time in Dragonstone as a camp counselor?”
Oh Gods.
“Yes…” you muttered, unsure of whether you wanted to hear the rest of the answer or not.
“Remember what happened during that summer?” she questioned, surprisingly shy.
“I do.”
“Well, it was Jacaerys,” she confessed.
Your eyes widened as you heard her saying it and confirmed it as if it wasn't breaking news, then your mouth dropped. A gasp escaped from your lips as you stood up from the bed and walked towards her.
“Shut up!” you said out of surprise. “It was Jace? That Jace?”
There was a moment of silence before Baela nodded and said, “uh… yes.”
“What?!” you yelled.
“Babe, keep it quiet, please,” she whispered.
“I thought Jace was a virgin,” you confessed, talking in loud whispers, still in shock.
“I can assure you that he's not.”
You covered your mouth as you saw her getting flustered by the situation. The whole thing with her boyfriend, and whatever had happened between them two, had been quickly forgotten by you two, because now you were trying to make sense of how small the world really was.
“I can't believe this!” you exclaimed.
“Well, imagine my situation,” Baela said, scandalized. “I just found out that, out of the billions of people in the world, my best friend is living with the guy that took my virginity during summer camp!”
“It's kinda romantic, though,” you confessed. Baela noticed the dreamy look on your eyes as you spoke; she was already used to it. “Maybe it's destiny.”
“You're insane,” she chuckled.
“Just imagine, Baela! What are the odds?”
“I'm dating Garett!”
“You were crying because of him a few minutes ago!” you reminded her. “What did that douche do anyway?”
Baela took a deep breath, rolling her eyes as she remembered everything. You knew a part of her was slightly embarrassed to tell you, only because she knew you would say ‘I told you so’. She was too stubborn to admit she had been wrong about him all this time.
“He got jealous because he went through my phone and found a picture I took with a friend from work,” she explained.
“He went through your phone?” you repeated, widening your eyes. “Gods, Baela, what are you waiting to break up with him?”
“I don't know!” she replied in despair. “Maybe I love him too much.”
“Whatever you two have going on, I can assure you that it's not love. You deserve better than him, and you know it.”
“I will break up with him… some day,” she promised, doubting. “But now, I need a place to stay tonight because I can't go back to my apartment if he's there. Can you help me with that?”
“Of course,” you immediately replied, “you can stay as long as you want.”
“Thank you,” she sighed.
“Though he should be the one looking for shelter,” you couldn't help but to speak up. “It's your apartment.”
“I know, but I'm doing what I can, alright? I feel like there's a lot of shit going on right now. Can't we just drink our weight in booze?”
“I- I don't know, babe,” you slowly said, “I have a bunch of papers to grade and next class we'll revise them and-”
“Hey, it's okay,” she shrugged, “Maybe one of those guys will make me some company.”
A soft knock was heard and soon Aegon opened the door of your room. He was looking tired and uninterested as usual. Baela crossed her arms in front of her chest, looking at him up and down. Aegon didn't even notice such a gesture, because all his attention was on you.
“I brought pizza from the supermarket,” he informed you. “They’re getting out of the oven, so come and have dinner. You can also come, if you want,” he spoke to Baela, finally glancing at her.
“We'll be there in a minute,” you replied.
Aegon left as quickly as he arrived, and your attention returned to your friend, who was arching one of her eyebrows.
“What?” you asked.
“Nothing…” she shrugged, but her tone made you a bit suspicious. “Shall we go now? Crying makes me hungry.”
“Alright, let's go… I'll introduce you to Aemond.”
She grabbed your hand and you guided her through the hall until you were back in the dining room. Lucerys looked up from his plate and his mouth fell as he saw Baela walking confidently towards the table. One single glance at him and you sighed relieved to know that his crush towards you was now replaced by his crush towards Baela.
Aemond —who was wearing a kitchen apron and had his long silver hair in a bun— also appeared with two pizzas in his hands, being followed by Jacaerys who carried one. As they put them on the table, you cleared your throat trying to make them acknowledge your presence in the room.
They both stood still as they saw her.
“Aemond, Luke,” you started, “this is my best friend Baela. She'll be staying with us tonight if that is not an issue.”
“Of course not.” Aemond stepped in, removing the oven mitts from his right hand and stretching it to reach hers. “I'm Aemond Targaryen,” he introduced himself with a soft smile as he brought her hand towards his lips and left a kiss there.
Jacaerys rolled his eyes.
“How chivalrous,” Baela commented, pleased with that small interaction.
“Shall we take a seat now?” you proposed, going to your usual spot.
“Where do I sit?” Baela asked.
“Wherever your ass fits, but not in my chair,” Aegon suddenly said, appearing out of nowhere and taking his seat in the spot right next to you.
You gave him a bad look as he sat down.
“You can sit beside Aemond.” You pointed at the empty chair right next to him. Baela did what you said and smiled at him politely.
A quick glance at Jacaerys and you noticed how his jaw slightly clenched and how his eyes would, occasionally, look at them. You narrowed your eyes, noticing there was something going on there probably related to what you had just found out.
“Well, can we start eating now?” Aegon asked. “I'm fucking starving.”
Without waiting for an answer, he took a slice of the pizza and opened his mouth to eat almost half of it in a single bite. Aemond looked at him as if he was scolding him for his terrible manners, but you could only giggle at that.
“Do you guys happen to have beer?” she curiously wondered, staring at Aemond. “I'm in need of some.”
“There's a couple in the fridge, and-”
“No, no. Those are mine, I bought them,” Aegon interrupted.
His lips were covered by stains of tomato sauce, and you gave him a napkin so he would clean himself. He quickly took it and cleaned his mouth.
“Aegon, she's a guest,” Aemond said.
“And?”
“And you need to be polite.”
“I'm sharing my pizza with all of you, I think I'm being polite enough,” he argued as he pointed at the three pizzas on the table.
“I can go and buy some beer,” Jacaerys suddenly offered, “uh… there's a store around the corner, I can grab some beers for you.”
“That's so thoughtful, Jace,” Baela thanked him.
“You guys need to be careful,” you warned them.
“Why?” Jace questioned.
“It's just that your brother is here, and he is a minor-”
“I’m sixteen,” he quickly replied.
“Which means you have to wait two more years to legally drink,” you reminded him.
“Listen, it's my free night, and I don't want to listen to music or smell a beer tonight,” Aegon groaned, interrupting the conversation.
“No one is inviting you to join, Aegon,” Jace murmured.
You gave him a bad look. “Don't be mean.”
Of course no one noticed, but Aegon looked down at his lap just so he would hide the faint rose blush that appeared on his cheeks.
“Y/n will be busy tonight, so maybe you guys can give me some company,” she proposed to Aemond and Jacaerys, who immediately nodded.
“Can I be there too?” Luke asked.
“As long as you stay away from the alcohol,” Baela told him.
“Fine,” he sighed.
“Then you can join us,” she cheerfully said.
An hour was all they needed to create their own personal little pub. You were in your room, the door closed and your eyes feeling tired from reading so much - especially when you had to almost guess what the poorly written words were. The weariness was starting to show as you would continuously jawn and rub your eyes, trying to stay focused on your task.
You saw the clock. 11pm. As you listened to the faded music coming from the living room, you missed the days when you were able to stay awake until sunrise. Perhaps you were getting old.
Or maybe you just needed coffee.
The pen in your hand dropped as you stood up, stretching your limbs and sighing while you put on your comfy slippers. You left your room and rushed into the kitchen, finding Jace staring at Aemond and Baela sitting on the couch. He looked dissociated, as if his mind was giving him a thousand thoughts in a second, and even when you saw him distracted, you asked him:
“Where are the coffee pods?”
Jacaerys’ eyes wouldn't even dare to leave Baela. You would notice how he was nervously tapping the kitchen counter and biting his lip. It was quite obvious that he didn't even hear a word of what you've just said.
“How long have you known her?” He suddenly asked.
“Who? Baela?” you spoke as you looked into the drawers.
“Yes,” he said as he finally turned around to look at you.
“She's been my best friend since sixth grade, why- Oh, here they are,” you mumbled once you found what you were looking for.
You grabbed the coffee pod and put it in the coffee machine, waiting next to it for the cup to be filled.
“So you know,” he assumed. “Of course you do, she's your best friend.”
“What do I know?”
“That we- you know…” he shyly said. “Summer Camp, Dragonstone… uh, sex.”
“Well, she just told me, actually…” you confessed. “I mean, I knew how she lost it, but she never told me the name of the guy, so I didn't know you two had met before. Also, you've never mentioned anything about that camp before, so...”
“Gods, she looks even more beautiful than I remembered,” he said with a shy smile, looking at Baela and then back at you. “Shit, she's here and my hair looks hideous, I don't know why I cut my curls off, I feel like Samson.”
“You look fine, Jace.”
“Yeah, you say that to Aegon everyday, how can I believe you?”
You were about to open your mouth and say that you actually meant it each time you would say that to Aegon, but, somehow, admitting that information made you feel embarrassed. You just decided to change the subject before the silence turned into an awkward one.
“Listen, you do you, I'll be in my room-”
“Wait, no,” he interrupted you. “You need to stay here.”
“Why?”
“Because I don't- How am I supposed to get close to Baela if you're gone?” He asked you, widening his eyes with panic.
“The same way you did when you first met her, isn't it easy?”
“You have to understand,” he said, looking deadly serious. “17 year old me, is not the same person as 22 year old me. I've grown weak.”
“Find that inner 17 year old you,” you shrugged, as you started to slowly walk away. “Best of luck, my friend.”
You walked out of the kitchen with the cup of hot coffee in your hand. As you passed by the living room, you gave a threatening look to Luke who was too close to the beers in the center table. As a response, he lifted his hands in a gesture of innocence, and looked at you with those blue, puppy eyes. You sighed, resuming your way towards your room and humming the song that was playing back in the living room.
Once you returned, it was a complete surprise to see Aegon laying on your bed with his computer on his lap and a bowl of chips on his side. He was shoeless, in his pajamas, looking so comfortable that you even thought for a small second that you accidentally entered his room instead of yours.
“What are you doing here?” you asked, as you walked towards your desk and left the coffee cup there.
“I'm watching a movie and they aren't letting me listen because their music is too loud,” he explained.
“Why don't you use subtitles?”
He scoffed, “I'm watching a movie, not reading a fucking book.”
“Aegon, you need to stop appearing in my room,” you mumbled. He paused his movie, sitting up on the bed. “Last time was a disaster.”
“I won't be a bother to you, I swear it. I'll be quiet and let you do your thing,” he told you, looking at you with his puppy, lilac eyes. You couldn't say no.
“Fine,” you mumbled, sitting in your chair before you resumed your work. “Keep the volume down too, please.”
“Alright,” he said, and each started to focus on your own thing.
You gave him one last look before you turned around and grabbed your pen. The music was muffled thanks to the thickness of the walls, and all you could hear was the soft voices of the actors coming out of Aegon's computer. It was quite relaxing, there was no awkward silence or anything as such. It felt comfortable and nice.
His presence felt nice.
Suddenly, you heard him laughing out loud, and it was contagious enough to make you smile, distracting you from your work. You turned around only to see him covering his face with one of your pillows, somehow you thought it was cute.
“What are you watching?” you asked as you stood up and sat on your bed next to him.
“Pineapple Express,” he said between giggles, still laughing at one of the scenes.
“Can I watch too?”
“I thought you were busy working,” he replied, looking up at you.
You sighed, “yeah, you’re right.”
Aegon looked at you for a few seconds before pausing the movie and sitting up.
“You look stressed,” he pointed out. “Want some help with whatever you're doing?”
“Would you help me?” you asked, incredulously.
“Yeah, why not? I wanted to be a teacher when I was little,” he confessed, “until I realized I was supposed to go to university to do it.”
“You haven't gone to university?”
“I have, actually,” he nodded as he spoke. “My father forced me to go. I never finished it though, I dropped out.”
“What program?”
“Business administration,”
“Was it fun?”
“The most boring shit ever,” he replied, and you chuckled.
He looked at you as you laughed, and a small —almost nonexistent— smile appeared on his face. It was an involuntary gesture.
“Why did he force you to study something you didn't want?” you curiously asked.
You knew that perhaps you were overstepping a line, but it was the first time he ever said something about him to you, and you were craving to know more. You just couldn't help it.
“Alright, what is this? A fucking interview?”
“Oh, come on!” you insisted. “I've seen you naked already, remember? I know more of you than Aem and Jace.”
“Bold of you to assume they haven't seen me naked yet,” he chuckled. “Will you want help with those hieroglyphics or not?”
“Don't be mean,” you scolded him. “They are just learning how to properly write.”
“Which grade is it?”
“Third.”
“Amateurs…” he mumbled.
“Stop it, they're kids,” you giggled.
“No excuse.”
“Alright, I'm gonna keep going before it gets too late,” you said as you stood up.
Aegon, out of impulse, stretched his hand to grab yours, stopping you from moving away. You turned around, failing to hide your surprise. He seemed unfazed by his own action on the outside, but on the inside he was panicking and desperately wondering why he did that.
“I can help you if you want,” he offered again.
You had to take a second to process it and answer him.
“It's- it's fine,” you shrugged. “You keep watching your movie, don't worry.”
He pressed his lips; an awkward smile.
“Alright,” he said, and let go of your hand.
“Thank you, though.” As you pronounced, Aegon looked back at the screen, almost as if he was suddenly ashamed of looking at you.
You tried to say something, but you just pressed your lips together, sealing them so they wouldn't utter a word. You turned around, and sat back on your chair. For a second you just stayed there, staring at the papers scattered around the desk, and thinking about that sudden gesture that was so odd coming from him.
You couldn't help but to ask yourself whether it was a good idea to have rejected his help, thinking that maybe this would push him away once again.
You were overthinking everything, as usual.
As you turned around, you noticed that Aegon was already with his eyes on you. Nervously, you cleared your throat.
“What?” He asked.
“Uh, what?” you repeated.
“What's wrong with you?”
“What do you mean?”
“You've been staring at your desk without moving for like a minute,” he explained. “Are you suffering a stroke or what?”
“No, I just- uh…”
“What?” he interrupted you.
“You're not mad at me, right?” The suddenness of the question made Aegon chuckle and think it was a joke, but after seeing your serious expression he realized you weren't actually kidding.
“Why would I- Listen, if I didn't get mad at you for seeing me naked, why would I get angry because of this?”
“Actually, you did get mad at me for it,” you murmured.
“Well, I'm not mad at you now, okay? Now chill out.”
“Alright, I'm so-”
“Don't apologize,” he stopped you before you could even finish. Then, he softly chuckled. “Why do you act like that?”
“Like what?”
“Weird.”
“To be honest, the first month here I thought you hated me,” you admit, “sometimes I still do, actually.”
“Nonsense,” he scoffed. “I wouldn't be your friend if I hated you, would I?”
“I'm your friend?” You repeated, widening your eyes with emotion.
Aegon looked at you weirded out, “of course you are, you dumbass. I saw you naked, we live together; I think I had no choice, actually.”
You smiled.
“Well, it's nice being your friend.”
“It is,” he agreed.
Baela suddenly opened the door in a scandalous way. You jumped in your seat, taking all your attention towards her; she wasn't drunk, but she was certainly a bit tipsy. Aegon immediately closed his computer and grabbed his now empty bowl of chips, standing up from your bed.
“Guess the party's over, so I'll go to my room now,” he announced. Some tiny part of you didn't want him to go just yet. You liked having his company. “Good night, y/n.”
“Good night, Aegon,” you sighed.
“Goodnight, Bella.”
“It's Baela,” she corrected him.
“Yeah, whatever.”
He left the room in a hurry as Baela rolled her eyes. Soon, she went to her backpack and took an oversized shirt she used as pajamas, all while staring at you with a subtle smirk on her face.
“What?” you asked.
“You need to tell me what's going on between you and him.” She removed her clothes and put on the shirt.
“What do you mean?”
“Don't play dumb,” she murmured as she went to the bed and laid beneath the covers. “Girl, you have bewitched the guy!”
“What? That's- that's nonsense.”
“Look at the floor, there's a path of his drool all the way from your bed to the door.”
“Baela, he's not- he doesn't do relationships.”
“Oh, but he would definitely do you, you know?” She said imitating your tone.
“Alright…” you muttered, rolling your eyes.
“You need to shoot your shot there, he's hot.” You felt the heat running to your cheeks, and of course she immediately noticed it. You hated that she knew you too well. “Oh my! You're blushing!”
“Baela, that's enough.”
“I can definitely sense a vibe there.”
“There's nothing vibing here.”
“Whatever you say.”
“Just go to sleep, okay?” you groaned, turning towards the desk.
“Goodnight, love,” she said. You could hear her smirk on her voice.
“Goodnight,” you simply said, sighing tiredly.
The thought of Aegon being into you was too far-fetched to be truthful. He had just started to see you as a friend, and even when he saw you naked he didn't try to make a move or make comments about it that would give you sogns of his attraction towards you. In fact, he was rather indifferent about it. On the other hand, even when a part of you thought of Aegon as someone handsome, he wasn't your type at all; too immature, perhaps, it would never work between you two.
You shook your head, weirded out with the mere idea of being thinking about it. At the end of the day, Aegon was just another of your friends… right?
I can easily imagine a situation where Wukong is actually fem or trans actually. Like, China, especially ancient China, is a hugely patriarchal society, and Wukong is born into a matriarchal society. One that has a pretty significant language barrier considering Wukong describes speaking chinese or any none monkey language really as "speaking human." It's easy to imagine a situation where there wasn't really a good descriptor for what Wukong was to her tribe other than "Chief" or "King" or little baby Wukong not knowing the proper pronouns to a language he's not quite fluent in yet accidentally claiming herself to be King when Queen or Chieftess would be a more appropriate title. And history just... never realizes it was a translation mistake or that Wukong was actually a girl until MK becomes Wukong's successor. It could even be a situation where Wukong hid her gender when one considers the views of women at the time and the fact she spent several years in the presence of a very aggressive flirt and pervert, even if Baijie probably wouldn't have ever actually done anything just his presence done would make her uncomfortable
Just little ideas based in what you said about the story not really changing much if Wukong were female
Prev.
I can def see a situation in LMK where Wukong identifies as a girl (personal hc is genderfluid) and just... got tired of correcting people.
Younger Wukong didn't exactly have the correct word for her status amongst the troop in "Human" language so she uses "King" since it's the closest. "Queen" didn't sound right cus that meant the King's mate from what she saw.
We know that Subodhi takes on acolytes of all genders, so he had no problem with Wukong (then Shihou) wanting to learn daoist & buddhist magic. He did think Wukong was a guy at first simply cus he didn't think to ask. He did have some old-fashioned "Women = Yin. Yin is bad" views though, and that led to a few arguments between him and his most outspoken student.
No one in Heaven or the Seas bothered checking cus "Thats a Monkey". Except for whoever was in charge of electing Wukong for the stable-monkey job - that was a directed hit at her (in ancient china female monkeys were kept around horses for luck/scaring off wolves). When Sun Wukong realised that she had been given a job even below a stable-boy simply for her body and/or gender identity, she flipped out.
Being elected a Peach Orchard Maiden was a lot better, which made her even more upset that she wasn't allowed to attend the Queen's Banquet - the Orchard Maidens got to go! Why couldn't she!? The real reason turned out to be that the other Maidens were actually the Jade Emperor and Xiwangmu's daughters - a fact that's often forgotten amongst even the nobles of the Celestial Realm. The Maidens hadn't been able to explain that it was an immediate-family-only party when Wukong decided to crash it.
Bonus for Stone Matriarch au: Xiwangmu immediately recognises a startling familiar destruction in this little demon. Like she's seeing a mirror of her younger self; a wild queen destroying the Heavens to prove her worth. The Queen Mother even pauses at the sight of the chaos on Flower Fruit Mountain, thinking she's seeing one of her own daughters throwing a tantrum.
Ofc the relationship between Fem!Wukong and the Brotherhood gets altered a bit. I feel that they knew Wukong's gender and supported her 100%. DBK goes full "You looking at my little sister, punk!?"-mode on anyone that even looks at Wukong. PIF helped a lot with understanding "human girly-stuff" when Wukong joined the Celestials.
Macaque knew from day 1, and it doesn't change his level of devotion to his King - though he makes a point of referring to Wukong as the "Beautiful Monkey King". Guaranteed to leave Wukong blushing. Macaque's own gender identity is a question mark - he takes what gender he can steal from others.
It also only served to reinforce Azure's projected martyrdom onto Wukong - who would be the best figurehead for the rebellion than a woman who suffers as much pain as the Bodhisattva Guanyin?
Tripitaka likely faints once or twice at the revelation that his bodyguard is a bloodthirsty woman - but quickly gets over it cus thats the least of his worries. Tthough he does panic at the thought of Wukong being like certain other female demons towards monks -Wukong quickly puts his worries to rest; Tripitaka isn't her type.
Sha Wujing and Ao Lie didn't mind but they made sure to have Wukong's input for when she preferred to be addressed as male - usually amongst humans or celestials.
Zhu Bajie on the other hand...
Tumblr media
It took Bajie a lot of rejection to get the point that the Monkey King was not a free lady. After a few years their relationship became a lot more "annoying siblings"-vibes, but the initial creep factor always made Wukong uncomfortable.
MK (he/they transmasc) discovers the Monkey King's true gender and *immediately* works to correct his language.
MK: "Monkey- wait, do you prefer being called King or Queen? I don't want to misgender you if possible." Wukong, surprised: "Uh, King is fine bud. It's sort of my brand now anyway." MK: "Okay! Never be afraid to correct me if I mess up." (*points to trans pride pin on his jacket*) :D Wukong, honestly touched: "Aww."
Later when the rest of the Noodle Gang meets Wukong, there's a little surprise - mostly from Tang who's rambling how all the translation inconsistencies finally make sense! Mei shrieks with glee - the Monkey King is "The Ultimate Girl Boss!". Sandy politely asks for Wukong's preferred pronouns if she's comfortable sharing them. Pigsy is a lot more understanding of why Wukong felt the need to hide her gender for so long.
Pigsy: "Let me guess, you pulled a Mulan cus of a certain... pervert in your travel party." Wukong: "Eh not entirely... Bajie figured it out after a few months, but by then he already saw me as One of the Guys. Felt weird to bathe or sleep near him though - dude stared." Pigsy: "Gross." Wukong: "Mega-gross."
Wukong's dynamic with Spider Queen becomes a bit funnier, since she likely doesn't know Wukong's gender. Second she learns that her opponent is "a fellow Queen" she gains a lot more respect for her. Female spiders are overwhelmingly the strongest after all.
If it becomes wide knowledge during LMK, then Wukong gets an intense public reaction, not just from fans (she tells Fire Star to deal with the media dumpster fire) but from demons that knew her back in the day that never knew and are surprised, or did know and are extremely proud of her for coming out.
DBK loudly declares "MY BABY SISTER HAS RETURNED!". The king he's been forced to fight felt like a complete stranger until Wukong started owning her gender identity again. He is extremely supportive to an embarassing extent. Red Son feels elated, especially since they're coming to terms with their own gender indentity.
And ofc a lot of this is me projecting as a trans masc person - I tend to automatically see Sun Wukong's as afab either way. This idea can have Wukong either as afab genderfluid or trans fem, whatever tickles the brain.
sour grapes. the moon is beautiful tonight
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“thanks for tonight blade! did you enjoy yourself?”
with a gentle smile on your face, you averted your gaze to him. however in blade’s ruby-like eyes, his perspective captured the way your eyes gleamed at him as well as the way they possessed the constellations of stars in them.
“yeah, i did.” he replied rather stoically and emotionlessly but, it does not go unnoticed by you. after all, you knew the type of person he was.
“you can’t fool me blade, i already knew you weren’t a fan of mechanical fever.”
instantly, blade quickly coughed into his hand as if he was “guilty” of what you have accused him of. to you, he felt like a book that would slowly reveal its pages one by one.
“if we’re doing something together, it should be something we both enjoy right?” in a way, a part of you felt guilty for having dragged him to the concert but you were appreciative of his time, even if blade somewhat forced himself to push through the concert.
“but still, thanks for taking me blade.. i had fun.”
“yeah.. no problem.”
blade silently muttered before he looked back up at the night sky, with the sea of stars reminding him of your eyes. it was as if the moon and the tiredness of the night was starting to reveal his vulnerability to you, with his heart racing and the difficulty in hiding his tensed expression.
“[name].. do you remember high school?”
his raspy and deep voice speaks up. where did that question come from all of a sudden? feeling suddenly tense by the spontaneous change in tone, you slowly look towards him only to see him avoiding your gaze this time and continuing to admire the noir sky.
“yeah.. i do, what about it?” it could not be helped at the fact that your voice became quiet and shaky. this was a topic that you wanted to avoid at all costs: if you and dan heng were established exes, then what was of you and blade?
“after seeing you again, those memories just keep flooding back to me. again, again and again like some broken record.”
all you were able to do was to stay silent and let blade vent out his feelings. it did not help the fact that there was a small voice in the back of your mind, telling you things that you do not want to hear.
“a part of me just wishes that.. there was at least something between us, instead of—”
“blade, it’s getting late isn’t it?”
“[name]…”
that small voice in the back of your mind was correct, and now it was practically screaming at you. whatever you and blade had at the time of your senior year of high school, it was the last thing you want you think about; especially when you were still trying to figure out your feelings for dan heng, which was highly conflicting and contradicting.
“come on blade, let’s go back to the dorms.”
it’s quite difficult to describe what kind of relationship you and blade had at the time. it was one that was intimate, romantic and dependant on each other and yet, there wasn’t an exact label to that either. both of you were relying on each other just to overcome an obstacle that was called a “heartbreak.” even when you somewhat got over dan heng, it seems that blade just couldn’t get enough of you, even if you didn’t feel the same way.
a situationship: one that is undefined, it is more than a friendship but less than a romantic one.
Day 1: ❤️‍🔥 Lingerie - Ribbons & Lace AU
Prev
Max eyed the box. It was medium sized, wrapped in a blue and silver patterned festive wrapping paper with a silver bow. His palms were sweaty as he placed it in the middle of the bed, then reached down to tug it closer.
He fiddled with its placement a few more times before stepping away and wiping his palms against his jean clad thighs. He was nervous. Excited as hell, but nervous.
He and Daniel hadn’t been dating long and he wasn’t letting the holidays pass without gifting his boyfriend something. He already knew that Daniel had gotten him a gift, Lando was not as sneaky as he thought he was. He wasn’t worried about that though, because Daniel knew him, and he knew Daniel.
His gift though, well he knew Daniel would be receptive. He remembered how Daniel’s eyes had lingered on the set when Max had stutteringly told him that he’d been looking at something to gift him. It had taken a quick look while Daniel was in the bathroom the other day, and Max had chosen the correct sizing and ordered the lingerie.
“Maxy did we–” Daniel’s voice became louder as he walked down the short hallway. “Ooh whats this?” Honey eyes looked curiously to the bed and back to Max standing by it.
“Your Christmas present.” Max licked his lips, Daniel’s eyes tracked the movement.
“Yeah? So why is it in here and not under the tree?” Daniel asked slowly.
“Well, I wanted to give it to you early, of course.”
Daniel’s curiosity was very clearly piqued and he reached for the gift. Max watched intently as he tore the wrapping off and then opened the nondescript box. Daniel licked his lips when the cobalt blue silk was revealed beneath white tissue paper and Max’s eyes tracked the movement.
“Oh...” Daniel breathed and looked up at Max with a darkened gaze. Max’s blood heated.
“You should try it on, I think?” Max swallowed thickly.
Daniel leaned in and kissed him filthily, licking into Max’s mouth like he wanted to devour him. “Wait here.” Daniel whispered hotly and went into the adjoining bathroom. Max watched him go, never taking his eyes off of him until the door closed. There was silence for a long moment before Max burst into movement, shucking off his jeans and tshirt and diving onto the bed in just his tented boxers.
The bathroom door opened and Max held his breath. Daniel was a vision. The blue blue blue of the lace and silk was perfect. The bralet rested delicately on his chest, pebbled nipples poked through the silk. There was a ribbon that snaked upwards from the middle seam to wrap around his thick neck and Max ached to untie it with his teeth.
The panties were mostly lace, with little bows on the hip. Max’s mouth watered at Daniel’s hard dick already straining and wetting the fabric.
“Daniel…” Max breathed out reverently. He sat up on the bed and watched Daniel’s approach. “Beautiful…” He was usually speechless when he saw Daniel in his favourite delicates, usually short circuiting. Right now he had no words for how he was feeling right now, only knowing that his dick was rock hard and he needed to show his boyfriend just how sexy he found him.
“Yeah? You like?” Daniel asked teasingly, he twirled in front of the bed and Max saw how the lace panties cut cheekily across his pert ass.
“C’mere.” Max grabbed Daniel’s hand and tugged him onto the bed. Daniel laughed and allowed himself to be dragged. His laugh turned into a moan when Max gave in to his wants and untied the bow with his teeth.
[written chapter]
Tumblr media
"hey." muttered haru after seeing karina.
the girl was panting, making it obvious that she had run to that place. the new girl understood right away, she had already realized it she arrived later than she was supposed to.
"sorry i'm late." she added, interrupting the tension building between the two.
"hey." returned the other's greeting, sketching a shy smile.
up until that moment karina had felt confident, calm, but it all dissipated as soon as the golfer stood in front of her.
she had crossed paths with haru a few times, although she could count them with her fingers. after all, they go to the same university, and there are events that all the students attend. besides that, kwon sometimes showed up at the building where jimin studied to visit her friend giselle. but they never interacted before, let alone with the subplot of an entire plan organized to seduce her. somehow, the athlete's idea and the plan seemed so far away and fictional that she didn't feel a great weight because of them.
until kwon haru became a reality, until she was there personified in front of her, and karina felt the pressure of having to think carefully every interaction they had.
"are you..." she gave a deep sigh before continuing the sentence. "...the girl my girlfriend has been fighting with?" a short, chaste laugh escaped her as she finished, perhaps because of nerves or the ridiculousness she was asking.
"i think that's an accurate description of me." jimin nodded her head, pressing her lips against each other as a gesture of embarrassment. "although it's not so much a fight, it's more just her..."
"yeah, i know." she lowered her gaze, and walked a bit until she found a place where to leave her equipment. "sorry about that, by the way." she picked up a club and turned to karina again. "it's just that she thinks what happened at the party was on purpose, which doesn't justify her reaction, sure, but it's all only because she felt attacked. i swear she's not mean, just..." she stopped her walk next to the girl, taking a breath of air and looking towards the field, thinking what to say next. "hi, i'm haru, it's a pleasure." she looked at her and extended her hand waiting for a shake, not finishing the previous topic.
"yes, i know you're haru. it's a pleasure too." she reciprocated the greeting, finding funny the abrupt change of subject.
"your name is karina, am i correct?" the golfer furrowed her eyebrows as a gesture of curiosity.
"that's me." confirmed, pointing her index finger at herself. "but my name is jimin, actually." she explained.
"okay, jimin-ssi." she gave a smile without showing her teeth, but that was still genuine enough to make her eyes narrow.
it was the first time karina had talked to kwon haru, and although she had the image that the girl's personality wasn't at all like her girlfriend's, in those minutes she had confirmed it. she was kind. something well hidden among her priorities and bad intentions, told the newcomer that this girl didn't deserve to have any harm done to her, but at the same time, she also was relieved at the thought that maybe it wouldn't be such a challenge to flirt with haru.
this is against kazuha, anyway.
"minhyuk spoke to me yesterday, told me he helped some friends get into the club, and that they lied on their applications about knowing how to play golf." the fresh member lowered her head in embarrassment, to which the experienced laughed. "he told me i had to do him the favor of helping him train them, am i right?"
"you are, ma'am." karina brought her hand to her forehead, jokingly giving a military salute, then flashed a cheeky, flirtatious expression to her new acquaintance.
she was there to make her fall in love, after all.
haru looked away restlessly, and swayed from one foot to the other as she scanned the surroundings with her eyes as if there was anything besides grass and holes in the ground.
"everyone lies on applications anyway, don't they?" joked karina as she saw her teacher start to move to fetch some golf balls and arrange everything.
"not in rottary, no." she denied as she was bent over setting up a tee.
"oh." she expressed flustered.
"but it's okay, jimin-ssi." she straightened up and addressed her. "someone had to be the first to do it." tried to reassure her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
karina and haru sat down on the tee box, and the sportswoman took some time to explain the rules of the game, the most common terms and what each item used in the sport was called and what it was for, and also to answer any questions the new girl may have.
the latter listened attentively to every part so as not to detract from practice later. and even though she still found it rather boring, she got a strange thrill from the idea of being good at golf.
"so why did you join the club if you've never played golf before?" questioned the teacher once she finished explaining the system of play.
karina thought carefully about her answer, she couldn't say anything stupid. during the previous days she had been researching things about golf, so she looked through that information to answer the question.
"isn't it easier to play golf when you are a member of a club? you have somewhere to train, an easy way to participate in tournaments, direct access to teachers and coaches." she repeated everything she remembered from that specific google search she had done, 'why is it good to join a golf club?'
"yes, you're right."
"i don't get out of my house much." the girl confessed. "i wanted to do a sport and have a more active life." vile lie. "and everyone at ncu does golf, so it caught my attention." more lies.
"it's a great sport, you won't regret it." assured the one who had been at it for years. "is that why you followed me?"
"what?"
"on instagram."
jimin opened her mouth and expanded her eyes in surprise at the question. she had forgotten she did that, maybe she had voluntarily wiped it from her brain. her cheeks turned red right away.
"of course..." she spoke nervously. "i mean, you're the best at golf, right?" she reached out her arm and gently tapped her closed fist on the girl's arm.
and again, haru began to look around avoiding eye contact, while her cheeks also took on a reddish color.
"okay, now," the trainer stood up and extended her hand to the other girl to help her up. "let's see how bad your swing is."
they approached the tee that the athlete had set up earlier and now she put a ball on top. she looked through her student's unused clubs, picked one up and then passed it to her. she took it with one hand, to which haru moved close enough to her to position it correctly between her hands.
"you're going to put your dominant hand where the grip and the shaft connect." she pointed to the area she was referring to. "you're way up." warned laughing at the inexperienced girl's cluelessness.
haru took karina's hand, gently moving it to the correct position. the apprentice looked up from the object to the face of her teacher, who, at the proximity, this time could not avoid the connection of glances. the blackhaired drew a warm smile on her lips and moved her pupils from the girl's eyes to her lips.
she still hadn't forgotten about the plan.
at this interaction, haru took a breath and turned around on her feet abruptly as she rambled anxiously about the proper way to hold a golf club. when she turned back to face jimin, who was quite stunned at the suddenness with which that moment was cut off, her gaze drifted back and she frowned.
"don't turn around." she warned seriously.
the girl quickly grimaced cheerfully and began waving towards whatever was behind her.
"it's kazuha." she explained through her teeth while she followed her partner with her gaze, who was traveling in a golf cart through the club. "if you turn around we're both going to die." she dramatized without stopping waving.
Hey its the prev non! You asked and, well, I answered! In no particular order (bc they shift depending on my mood):
-subby mommy kink quinn (honorable mention to mommy kink mitch marner, who has slowly been creeping up in the headcannons)
-kinky sex auston matthews (i think this boy is lowkey so kinky i swear like i just feel like he has a sex toy collection and loves blowing your mind in the best way possible)
-three way with jeremy swayman and linus ullmark (i feel like they both would get so into it. Like linus would be so sweet and praise you constantly and meanwhile jeremy just goes crazy for eating you out while linus fucks your throat while saying how amazing you are)
Other honorable mentions:
-oral fixation matthew tkachuk (you see how he chews on that mouth guard right?)
-mommy kink mitch marner (see above)
-soft sweet borderline subby vince dunn (slightly inspired by that one video of a guy grabbing vince's wrist on stream and vince whines "stoppp". It opened my third eye. I feel like he would be so easy to please)
-steamy shower sex with leon (esp if hes just come home after a rough loss and wants to work off the energy... sign me up!)
anon I love you, you are correct and brilliant and beautiful and somebody (preferably a hot hockey man) should spouse you up asap because if they don’t I will
you are so right, Quinn and Mitch are the best boys for mommy, Auston is a freak (affectionately), and Swaymark regularly take a tandem to pound town
those honorable mentions though… Matty needs that mouth kept busy and I can think of a few things, that Vince video plays behind my eyes whenever I try to sleep I bet he sounds so good when he whines, and Leon?? god do I love myself some gerMAN
Episode 4: Dear Kaby
Tumblr media
"Wh– were we beaten… by a fire wizard?" Baldy says in disbelief.
"Hey, bro, tell me when the room stops spinnin', 'kay?" Spiky suffered a massive concussion and some brain injury, thanks to Natsu.
"That'll teach ya. Now then, guess I'd better go and find Lucy and (Y/N)." Natsu turns his back to the two Vanish Brothers, who he had just defeated. "These merchant fairies are toast." he walks from the two mercenaries.
"We're mercenaries…" The two groan out, defeated as Virgo's eyes suddenly glow, unbeknownst to Natsu.
~ Location Change ~
"Enemy of literature? My massive collection of books and art only further prove I'm culture's greatest friend!" The Duke argues at Lucy's statement.
"But that ugly maid collection proves you don't know squat about beauty!" She struggles to get out, her arms being painfully restrained behind her.
"How dare you mock them. They are the very definition of beauty." He leans forward to get a better look at the book, invertedly pushing Lucy forward causing more pain with the position. "What secrets does it hold? Let me guess, he buried his fortune and there's a treasure map hidden inside." Lucy grunts in pain as he tightens his grip on her arms. "Tell me, or I'll snap your arm like a toothpick." He threatens her. Lucy grunts in pain once more before blowing a raspberry at him in defiance.
"Boyo." He leans further out of the wall as Lucy is now on her knees, her face on the floor. "Now is not the time to get sassy. Listen, I myself commissioned this book's very creation. Therefore, any secret it holds is rightfully my property!" He demands to her.
Suddenly Happy appears and kicks the man full force on the side of his face, smiling as he makes contact. (Y/N) and Lumi can be seen right behind him.
"Happy!" Lucy rises, ecstatic to see the aforementioned cat as he giggles, floating over the sewage water.
"That was so cool." She states to him. "Huh?" Suddenly Happy's magic runs out as he falls in the water. Lucy, (Y/N), and Lumi stare at Happy with a blank expression.
"What's this? A flying cat?" Everlue questions as Happy can be seen blowing bubbles in the gross water.
"The name's Happy." He corrects Everlue while still in the disgusting water.
"Happy, can you please get out of the water, you'll catch some sort of disease if you stay in there." (Y/N) sweatdrops, concerned for Happy's well-being, Lumi nods in agreement.
"I wouldn't stay in there if I was you." Lucy, also concerned for her teammates' well-being, tells Happy.
"But the water feels so good." Happy, still blowing bubbles, says in enjoyment.
"That's sewer water, Happy." Lucy and (Y/N) facepalm at him.
"Looks like the tables have turned. But if you let me keep the book, I'll think about going easy on you." Lucy has her arm raised, pointing a celestial key at Everlue with a look of conviction. "Although I'm tempted to give you a good smack," Lucy states as (Y/N) and Lumi stand slightly behind her, Lumi floating beside the former, a serious look on (Y/N)'s face as she's in a fighting stance with her fists raised.
"Oh? A Celestial Wizard. But for a reader, you seem to be a bit deficient in your turns of phrase. 'The tables have turned' implies that the weaker party has rallied to claim victory." Duke Everlue has a devious look on his face, "But there's no way you two girls and those two cats could ever defeat me and my diver magic. Boyoyoyoyo!" He laughs as a yellow magic circle emanates from the man’s back, using it to dive below the stone of the sewer walkway.
"So he does that using magic? I had no idea Everlue was a wizard too." Happy, now standing next to Lucy, (Y/N), and Lumi asks.
"Do you not smell yourself?" Lucy deadpans at Happy.
Everlue suddenly breaks through the ground in an attempt to get the book before diving back down, just to make two more attempts as Lucy and (Y/N) jump out of the way to evade the stubby man.
"Look, I know the whole story now. It's a horrible adventure novel about a trashy little character named Duke Everlue!" Angry, Lucy shouts at the man.
"You serious?" Happy looks at where Lucy, (Y/N), and Lumi are, looking at the blonde.
"I don't know that I'd call the protagonist 'trashy'. But yes." He dives back down below the ground, before going across the sewers ceiling, the others watch the rubble from the ceiling fall where he was going. "The story itself is crap! And to think it was written by the great Kemu Zaleon!" He drops down overtop the two wizards. "Inexcusable!" He grabs for Lucy and (Y/N) as they do a  flip to dodge out of the way. Everlue then drills through the ceiling over where the two girls were.
"I can't believe your arrogance! You forced him to write it!" (Y/N) yells at Everlue as her and Lucy's eyes follow him as Everlue tunnels above them.
"Arrogant, moi? The word doesn't begin to apply! To tell my story's an honor, no matter what the circumstances!" His voice echoes around the group as debris continues to fall around them.
"Then why'd you have to blackmail him into it?" Lucy angrily inquires.
"Blackmail?" Happy asks, confused.
Everlue appears behind the group through the wall. "What's the big deal?" (Y/N), Lucy, and Happy gasp as they turn around. "He just needed some extra encouragement to take the job."
"Oh really?" Lucy says suspiciously.
"Any fool would have jumped at the chance to have me as their muse." Everlue swims through the ground as he says this. "But he had the audacity to say no!" He goes beneath the ground once more before his arm appears behind the group as they look back in surprise. "So I gave him the added inspiration in the form of an ultimatum. Write the novel, or his family would be stripped of their citizenship."
"But then none of them would be able to join any of the guilds and make a living!" (Y/N) shouts in shock at the slimy man.
"Do you really have the power to do that?" Happy says in disbelief.
"I have the power to do anything." He dips below the walkway once more before breaking through where the group is standing, making them dodge back to avoid him. "I got him to write it, didn't I?" He says joyfully as he's in the air as the others look at him in anger. "But I didn't like his attitude, so I decided he'd do best writing from a prison cell. Boyoyo! He went on and on about being a brilliant novelist who would never give into threats, but in the end I got what I wanted!" He makes another magic circle before spinning into a ball and bouncing against the walls, ceiling, and ground in an attempt to attack the others as they run from him.
"I can't believe you'd go that far just to boost your own stupid ego! He was in solitary confinement for three years! Don't you know how hard that must have been?!" Lucy shouts back in anger.
"Three whole years?!" (Y/N) and Happy question, running alongside Lucy as the two cats fly beside the two mages.
The ground opens up where Lucy and (Y/N) were running as Everlue breaks through the ground in front of the group. Lucy and (Y/N) jump back just in time landing in a kneeling position. "Perhaps it took him that long to appreciate me. Boyoyoyo."
"You're wrong! More like he couldn't bear to spread your lies! But he had to satisfy your vanity. He knew that if he didn't write your character as a heroic champion of justice, then his family would suffer." Lucy shouts at the man as her and (Y/N) stand up.
"Tell me, how exactly do you know all this?" Everlue asks skeptically.
"It's all right here in black and white." Lucy holds the book up.
"What? I've read that book from cover to cover, and Kumu Zaleon isn't in it." He states in suspicion.
"Well, yeah, if you read it normally there's no mention of him. But I know something you don't know. Long before he was an author, he was a wizard." Lucy reveals to the others.
"He was?" (Y/N) and Happy ask in surprise at the information.
"What did he do?" Everlue asks
"After he finished the book, he gathered all his remaining strength and cast a spell on it." Lucy
"What a dirty trick." Everlue groans out, seething with anger. "He turned a book about a great man like me into a hatchet job?! The nerve of that fool! Boyo!" He makes an attack at Lucy and (Y/N) once more.
"Oh, get over yourself!" Lucy shouts at Everlue as she and (Y/N) jump and dodge out of the way.
"Boyo!" He makes another strike. The two girls continue dodging as Everlue's attacks continue to get more sloppy as he gets angrier with Lucy and (Y/N)'s remarks.
"It's true that he wrote about all the pain and torture that you put him through. But the chapters that focus on what you did to him are only a small part of the book. In fact, its secret has nothing to do with you." Lucy continues exposing the truth that's in the book.
"Tell us, Lucy!" (Y/N) and Happy encourage Lucy further.
"What the devil do you mean?" Everlue seems startled at her revelation.
"I'm not gonna give this book back to you, Duke Everlue, 'cause it was never really yours to begin with!" She puts the book away, pointing one of her Celestial keys in Everlue's direction. The center of the bow is white, stamped with the crest of the Giant Crab, colored in dark red, and two spikes sprouting from each side. The base of the bow is sculpted similar to that of the head of a crab while the top is that of a crab's pincer. The blade of the key ends with a crab shaped design, with four legs sprouting out of each side and the tip designed with two pincers.
"OPEN, GATE OF THE GIANT CRAB! CANCER!" She swings her right hand carrying the key across horizontally then up over her head. She then brings her arm vertically down, completing the summon. Her spirit Cancer appears, his hair is black and braided in red cornrows that end in a shape that resembles crab's pincers, he's wearing a light blue shirt with thin black stripes and black pants, he has six crab legs coming from his back and wields two pairs of scissors as weapons. Cancer's name can be heard as he's summoned.
"A GIANT CRAB! Oh yeah! Nothing says 'I'm gonna kick your butt' like a crab man with razor claws and tough-guy sunglasses!" Happy giggles with stars in his eyes, yelling in delight at the appearance of Cancer
"Shut up and let me concentrate, or I'll have him pinch your little lips off." Lucy threatens Happy.
"Hey, Lucy, how would you like your hair done today… Baby?"
"WHAT?!" Happy yells in dismay.
"I don't need styling. I need help." She puts a hand to her face as she breathes out, exasperated. "It's that guy. Take care of baldy over there." Lucy commands Cancer.
"Whatever you say, Baby."
"Oh, so he just makes the bad guys look cooler before they kill us. That's useful. Yeah, you should just send him back, Lucy." Happy's leaning against the wall as he breathes out in faux defeat. Everlue clenches his fists in anger at everything.
(Y/N) leans over to Lucy, eyes half lidded, looking at said blonde, a hand to her mouth in a mock whisper, "so, do you just let him call you baby, or is that a personal preference?"
"Shut it, (Y/N). And I should send you back." The blonde threatens (Y/N) then Happy.
'What could the secret possibly be? The hack must have written an exposé on all of my illegal business deals. I can't have that. If the Magic Council got wind of how I actually made my fortune, my goose would be cooked.' Everlue internally monologues.
Everlue produces his own celestial key. The center of the bow is white, stamped with the crest of the Maiden, colored in magenta. Surrounding the heart-shaped center on either side are simple curves, spiraling on the top and bottom. The blade's end is shaped like a heart.
"OPEN, GATE OF THE MAIDEN, VIRGO!" A purple summoning circle appears as Everlue raises his arm above his head holding a celestial key, then swiftly brings the key down to summon the pink haired maid, now known as Virgo.
"What the–!" Lucy is surprised as her and the others look on in shock.
“He's using your trick, Lucy!" Happy exclaims.
"Did I hear my master summon me?" The giant maid that is Virgo burst through the ground, appearing before them, her arms flexing above her head.
"Virgo, fetch me that book." Everlue demands to the maid, pointing at the group.
"Hold up! She's a celestial spirit?" Lucy is in disbelief.
"Baby." Cancer contributes to the conversation.
Everyone gasps at Natsu's sudden appearance, shocked as he's above Virgo.
"NATSU!" (Y/N), Lucy, and Happy all say in unison as they stare in shock.
"Yeah?" Natsu says, unsure of what just happened.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Everlue asks exasperated.
“What are you doing up there?!" Lucy questions.
"Well, I saw her getting up, so I jumped on her and then all of a sudden, I ended up here." Natsu kneels on Virgo’s shoulder, looking down at the others.
"So you grabbed a hold of her inside the house?! But that means… you must have passed through the spirit gate with her! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!" Lucy puts to her head in absolute shock at the information.
"Lucy, (Y/N), what the heck do I do now?!" Natsu says in a panic.
"Finish what you started!" Lucy says, sounding annoyed, looking up at him.
"Virgo, clean up this rubbish." Everlue commands the pink haired maid as Natsu jumps from her shoulders.
"As you wish, master."
"Now I'm fired up! FIRE DRAGON ROAR!" Natsu summons his magic.
"People like you disgust me! ICE DRAGON ROAR!" (Y/N) casts her Dragon Roar spell alongside Natsu.
"YOU DIRTY LITTLE MOLE MAN!" Lucy uses her whip to attack Everlue as Natsu and (Y/N) land their attack on Virgo.
"Can't dig yourself out of this! You make me sick!" Lucy has Everlue tied up in her whip, holding him still as Virgo goes flying over him. She then throws him over her head and slams him into the air as Cancer jumps to intercept him and use his own attack. The two land back on the ground as Everlue follows and lands on his back with a bounce.
"Boyoyoyoyoyoyoyo."
"Baby." Cancer
"You're just another greedy villain." Lucy lands after throwing Everlue.
"Boyo."
"Okay, I'm done. Does this look fabulous or what, baby?" Everlue is now fully bald.
"Oh yeah. Way to go, crab-man– baby." Natsu corrects himself as he has a foot upon Virgo's back as he looks to the group with a smile at their accomplishment. He turns his head back and looks up slightly as the entire mansion begins to crumble and fall.
~ Outside the Mansion ~
The group makes it out unscathed as they stand in front of the ruins of the mansion. Lucy and (Y/N) have a shocked look upon their faces, Natsu looks quite proud of himself, with his hands on the back of his head. Happy has an expression on his face too.
"I like your style. Out with a bang. You are definitely gonna fit in at Fairy Tail." Natsu says as the other four stare, eyes wide and mouths gaping as they gasp at the damage they caused.
"But aren't we supposed to not destroy stuff?" Happy states the obvious.
"I hope I don't get blamed for this." Lucy says in despair.
The group arrives back at Kaby’s house, Lucy's standing before Kaby behind the coffee table, the others are standing behind the couch opposite Kaby. Lucy presents the book to Kaby, who has a look of disgust at the sight of the book.
“When I was reading 'Daybreak,' I couldn’t believe it was written by Kemu Zaleon. There's no way he would have done something that bad." Lucy explains.
“Yeah, so?” Natsu retorts in confusion.
“So that's how I knew there must be a spell on it,” She explains. Kemu gasps at the information Lucy shares with him as he receives the book from her, holding it in his hands.
“But I requested this book to be destroyed,” Kaby says, in a quiet confused tone, “why on Earth are you handing it to me completely unscathed?”
“If you really want to burn it, then I'd rather you do it yourself.” Lucy tells Kaby.
“I most certainly will burn this trash.” Kaby says, shaking with anger, “I never wanted to see it again.”
“I completely understand why you feel the way you do about this book, Kaby. You want to protect your fathers legacy, because you’re actually Zaleon’s son, aren’t you?” Lucy uncovers.
 “Huh?” The other four look surprised at this revelation.
“Yes, that is true.” Kaby says, remorsefully.
“Have you read it yourself?” She asks.
“No, I,” Kaby begins, saddened at memories being brought up before him, “I could never bring myself to do it. My father told me it was garbage.” Natsu takes offence and steps forward with one foot and raises his fist at Kaby.
“You were just going to burn it?” Natsu
“I was.” Kaby says in sorrow.
“Without even bothering to see what’s inside?! It’s the last book that your dad wrote, right?! Some of us would kill for that kind of memory!” Natsu, in anger, grabs Kaby by the collar, Lucy angrily walks to Natsu and Kaby with an arm outstretched in front of the Dragon Slayer as he shouts at Kaby as (Y/N) grabs ahold of Natsu's arm to stop him, Lumi balancing on her left shoulder.
“That’s enough Natsu!” Lucy yells as she pushes Natsu away from the old man, “let Kaby explain himself!”
“Please,” Kaby begins with pain, “that book caused my family great heartache and shame. It was thirty one years ago.”
~ Flashback ~
“Father?” Young Kaby questions, sitting at a table as his father appears in the doorway in a rush.
“Forgive me, son.” His father says to him remorsefully.
Kaby’s father is rummaging through a chest as Kaby speaks angrily behind him.
“We haven't heard anything from you in three years! Where have you been all this time?” Kaby raises his hands as he questions his father.
“Somewhere I’ll not return.” Kaby’s father grimaces as he makes a makeshift tourniquet, gripping one end with his teeth and tightening it with his free hand. “It’s all over now.”
“No, father!” Kaby outstretched his hand to his father.
“I’ll never write again!” Kaby shouts as he brings a meat cleaver down on his arm, severing it from his body.
~ Time Skip ~
“You should have listened to me. I told you you’d regret working for that horrible Duke Everlue. But you went ahead and did it anyway. Why?” Kaby questions his father as he lays in a hospital bed. He is standing at the foot of the bed.
“Because it was good money.” Kaby’s father responds remorsefully.
“Who cares? Look where it got you!” Kaby shakes with anger at this response.
Kaby’s father sighs with a smile on his face. “I’m so glad I finished that rubbish.”
“What the heck are you smiling about? Do you think it’s funny to leave your family for three years to write a novel you’re not even proud of?” Kaby raises a fist in anger as he says this.
“Son…” Kaby’s father begins. “I’ve thought about you the entire time I was gone.”
“Then you should have just written something for him quickly and come back to us. Instead, you abandoned your pride and your family right along with it. You’re a sad excuse for a writer. Selling yourself out to the highest bidder.” Kaby walks away as he finishes lecturing his father. “You’re not much of a father either.” A breeze blows in through the window as Kaby leaves his father.
“Not long after that, my father passed away. However, the anger and betrayal I felt toward him lived on.” Kaby narrates.
~ Present Day ~
Kaby is holding the book in his hand, staring at it as he relives his memories. His wife is close beside him, her hand on his arm. Lucy's standing before Kaby and his wife as he tells the story. Natsu has his back turned and arms crossed, (Y/N) stands on his left, her right hand resting on his bicep while her other rests up by her chest as she looks at the other Dragon Slayer in concern.
“But as the years passed by me, that anger slowly turned into remorse. And now… It’s too late for me to ask for his forgiveness. So I decided to make amends by destroying the final work that had caused him so much unhappiness. This is the only way. The only way I can preserve his legacy.” Kaby lights a match, Lucy has her hand on her hip as she frowns at Kaby. “I’m sure that this is what he’d want.”
“No, you’re wrong.” Lucy says with determination. Everyone turns to her as she says this. The flame of the match goes out. The other wizards gasp at this.
“Kaby, look!” Right after Lucy says this, the book begins to emanate a bright purple light. A magic circle is produced from the book.
“What’s happening?!” Kaby shields his eyes with his arm.
The title of the book lifts off from the cover as Kemu lets go.
“A spell has been cast on this book. It’s the work of the wizard Kemu Zaleon, or should I say, Zekua Melon?” The book is levitating as Lucy explains, still emitting a strong light as the letters rearrange themselves, revealing the name 'Dear Kaby'. Kaby’s eyes are wide open and his arms are down at his sides in surprise.
The book levitates just above everyone’s head. Lucy smiles with her hands behind her back as the two Dragon Slayers have their mouths open. Natsu has his arms out at his sides, while (Y/N) holds both hands up to her chest, both react in astonishment.
“Dear Kaby?” He gasps out in surprise.
"That's right. This book is his letter to you. Disguised behind a spell that rearranged all of the words so no one else could read it." The book opens and starts rapidly flipping its pages as lines of letters start pouring out and filling the room. The others are amused by the pretty scene before them.
"Wow." Natsu and (Y/N) gasp out in awe.
"Pretty." Happy raises his arms above his head in wonder at the sight.
"He didn't stop writing because he was ashamed. He stopped writing because he had finished his masterpiece, a novel containing everything he ever wanted to say to his beloved son. And when you read it the way he intended, it's easily his best work ever." Lucy reveals.
Kaby stares in disbelief at everything that is happening, his mouth agape. HIs wife stands beside him, hand on his arm looking up in wonder.
The book closes itself and lands back in Kaby’s hands. Kaby is on his knees, hugging the book in his arms.
"And now that the spell's been broken, you can read it yourself." Lucy
"Thank you, father." Kaby hugs the book to his chest as he kneels on the ground due to the vast amount of emotions he's feeling. "I swear that I will never let any harm come to this book."
“Well, I guess we won't be collecting that reward.” Natsu turns with his hand on the back of his head, looking away from Kaby and to the others.
"Aye." Happy says as he sits on Natsu's shoulder, (Y/N) and Lumi nodding along in agreement.
"Huh?!" She exclaims, looking at both of the Dragon Slayers in shock.
"We were supposed to destroy it. We didn't finish the job." Natsu says matter of factly, looking back at Kaby.
"Even so, let me do something." Kaby.
“Yeah! It's not our fault he decided to not burn the book after we got it back for him.” Lucy has her fist to her chin as she looks back and forth from Kaby, to Natsu and (Y/N), then back to Kaby. Happy looks disappointed at this.
"Lucy, don't be greedy. You're totally ruining what was a touching moment" Happy
"I need the cash!" Lucy shouts angrily at Happy's remark, her arms at her sides, as he scoffs at her reaction as he pivots, recoiling at her shouting.
"Thanks for the offering, but we don't want it." Natsu and (Y/N) begin walking out of the room, as the former has his hands on the back of his head, raising one to wave back.
"Um, yes we do! I need to pay rent!" She jogs to catch up with the two Dragon Slayers.
"I think it's time we all go home. That means you too, Mr. Melon. Go back home." Kaby and his wife gasp as they're shocked Natsu was able to see through their ruse.
~ Time Skip ~
It's night time, there are a few small clouds in the sky accompanied by a few visible stars; the moon is shining brightly, in its waning gibbous phase. The group is walking down a dirt road at night.
"Unbelievable. Who in their right mind would turn down two million jewel?" Lucy walks hunched over, letting her arms dangle in disappointment. Natsu and (Y/N) are walking slightly ahead of her. Happy is walking beside Natsu in his usual fashion as (Y/N) holds Lumi as the cat naps in her arms.
"If we had taken the money, it wouldn't have looked good. You gotta think about Fairy Tail's reputation." Natsu reminds Lucy as (Y/N) nods along in agreement, looking back in Lucy's direction.
"Aye."
"But we made him happy, right? We got the job done and now we're walking home?" Lucy groans out, trying to argue with the fire mage. She then sighs. "And then to find out that they're not even wealthy? They were just renting that house so everybody would think they were rich. It's not like it matters. We would have taken the job either way."
"I don't know about you." Happy snarkily remarks to the blonde.
"Of course I would have!" Lucy raises her voice, offended at Happy.
"Sure, greedy." Happy replies.
~ Time Skip ~
The group sits around a campfire with fish and lizards on sticks sticking out of the ground beside the fire. Natsu and Happy enthusiastically eat as Lucy sits across from the other two. (Y/N) and Lumi sit next to her, eating as well, although not as messily as Natsu and Happy.
"By the way, the house, how'd you know that it wasn't really theirs?" Lucy asks.
"Hmm?" This catches both Natsu and (Y/N)'s attention.
"Oh, that was easy. 'Cause they smelled like some other house. Seemed pretty obvious." Natsu says, his mouth full of food, as though it was obvious, (Y/N) and Lumi nod in agreement.
"Aye." Happy agrees.
"Sure, to you four animals, maybe." Lucy looks disappointed as she's sitting with her legs folded under her and her hands on her knees. She puts a finger under her chin in thought, smiling. "Not me. I was still lost in the clouds from reading that book."
"I've got you figured out." Natsu smiles smugly at Lucy. He points his finger up as he takes a bite of his food. "All those papers I found on the desk at your place. You're writing a novel, aren't you?"
"Oh, so that's why she's such a bookworm." Happy infers.
"Promise you won't tell anybody about that, okay?" Lucy's face is burning up as she's  incredibly embarrassed that Natsu figured out what those papers were.
“Why not?” Happy asks.
"'Cause I'm a horrible writer!" She puts her hands over her face and turns from side to side in embarrassment as the others sweatdrop at her reaction. "If anybody read my stuff, I'd die of embarrassment."
"Don't worry. Nobody's gonna read it." Natsu assures Lucy.
"Yeah, that doesn't really make me feel any better." Lusy isn’t comforted by this.
~ TIme Skip ~
It's now day time, and the group is walking through a swamp. There are many large trees with large roots in the water, there are lizards and insects latched onto the trees.
""I don't know about this, you guys. Are you sure we're going the right way?" She asks." Lucy sits in Horologium as the others trudge through the swamp waters, which go up to Natsu and (Y/N)’s waist. Happy sits on Natsu’s head and Lumi is being carried by (Y/N).
"Happy says this is the way home, so this is the way we're going, is what I answer" Natsu snarkily replies as the two Dragon Slayers and Celestial Wizard have looks of annoyance and fatigue.
"Have some faith. I'm a cat. I have a great sense of smell. My nose will lead us home." Happy assures Lucy.
""It's dogs that have great noses. And what does smell have to do with direction," she asks quite haughtily." Horologium relays for Lucy.
"Why don't you do your own walking for a while?" (Y/N) asks as the group exits the swamp, now on dry land.
""Because I'm tired," she groans out exhaustedly." Horologium conveys.
"Oh, brother." Natsu groans out.
A nearby bush rustles, which grabs the group's attention. Natsu instinctively jumps toward the bush, throwing away his backpack in the process, which Horologium grabs.
"Who's there!" Natsu as he jumps in the bush.
""Do you always have to fight," she inquires worriedly." Lucy's distraught as she presses her hands against Horologium’s glass.
"I think you know the answer to that, I respond back rhetorically." (Y/N) says back with a slight smirk on her face as she looks at the blonde.
"You can take him, Natsu!" Happy's standing on the clock spirit’s left hand, cheering Natsu on.
"Please be careful!" (Y/N) has a worried look on her face as she watches the bush in concern, still holding Lumi in her arms.
Natsu jumps out of the bush, and surprisingly enough, Gray does as well. They both land on opposite sides of the path, they both strike their fighting stances.
"It's Gray!" Happy says in surprise at his sudden appearance.
""What is he doing in his underwear," the lady questions." Horologium communicates for Lucy.
"Trying to find a bathroom." Gray retorts.
"Why would you strip down before you found one? And who the heck ever heard of a bathroom in the middle of the forest?" Natsu questions.
"I wanted some privacy. I didn't expect an idiot to barge in." Natsu and Gray are arguing quite intensely with their foreheads almost touching.
"I didn't barge in!" Natsu retorts back.
"They're so childish!" Lucy, now out of Horologium, looks at Natsu and Gray in exasperation.
"She says to the cats and girl." Happy mimics Horologium.
~ Location Change ~
"So you're on your way back from a job?" Lucy inquires, sitting on a small dirt mound,
looking annoyed at Happy as the group now sits on the side of a cliff just outside the forest.
"Yeah, there's a shortcut through these woods that'll get you back to town in no time." Gray explains as he sits behind the Happy, one leg fully extended out and his other is fully bent. He's glaring at Natsu, who is in turn glaring at him. The Fire Dragon Slayer sits adjacent to the Ice-Make mage, his right knee bent as he rests his arm on it. (Y/N) sits beside Natsu, leaning against the pink haired boy, knees bent, both feet to her left side, Lumi sits in her lap.
"See? I told you so." Happy's fishing with a ridiculously large fishing rod, his eyes are closed, looking very smug as he fishes.
"Yeah, well if your nose is so great, then how come you didn't know Gray was right in front of us, smart guy." Lucy snarkily asks the blue cat.
"There are some things you don't want to smell." Happy retorts.
“What'd you say?” Gray grunts out, taking his attention off of Natsu and turns to Happy, taking offence to his comment.
“I agree. So go on home and we'll smell you later.” Natsu puts his hands behind his head, smiling conceitedly at Gray. (Y/N) puts a hand to her mouth to smother a giggle.
"Fine, I will. And unless you want trouble, you should too." Gray stands up. He turns away from the group and puts his hands on his hips.
"Why do you say that?" The blonde asks in concern.
"'Cause Erza's due back any time now." He states nervously as Natsu starts shaking in exaggerated horror, (Y/N) and Lumi sweatdrop at his reaction. Lucy gasps in awe at the information.
"The Erza? Whoa." Lucy asks in interest.
"Yep, she's the most powerful woman in all of Fairy Tail." Happy states with a mouth full of fish.
"I can't wait to meet her!" Lucy puts her hands on her cheeks and turns her head as she swoons with the thought of meeting Erza as the other three mages have their heads down in dread, Happy has a fish in his mouth for comfort. She turns back to Gray and Natsu. "But you know, I've never even seen a picture of her in Sorcerer Weekly or anything. What's she like?"
"Scary…" The others whimper out as Lucy chuckles nervously at everyone's response.
"Wild animal?" Gray suggests.
"A vile beast." Natsu denotes.
"More like a full-on monster!" Happy declares as the three of them whisper to each other
"Guys, c'mon, she's not that bad." (Y/N) makes an attempt to play off her fear and dissuade their comments from scaring Lucy. The blonde looks at them in horror as she imagines a large monster crushing houses, listening to all they have to say about Erza.
"She's not that big, you guys." Happy sighs.
"Well, she's big enough for me." Natsu exclaims.
"One thing we can all agree on is she is definitely that scary. Well, maybe a little scarier." Gray states, matter-of-factly.
"Yeah, she's about this scary." Natsu confirms as everyone imagines a large monster kicking a large mountain.
"What? I guarantee you Erza could take down at least three mountains with a single kick."
"You don't need to exaggerate like that, Gray. it's more like two." Happy corrects Gray's exaggeration.
"You know, guys, even if she's able to kick down a single mountain, that's still scary." Lucy whimpers out nervously.
"Like I said, we should get back." Gray reminds the others.
The group is sat back to where they were previously, except Gray, who is standing. Happy continues to eat his fish for comfort.
“Crap, let's get moving!.” Natsu stands up quickly.
A goblin-looking-guy appears and blasts them with magic. The group is sent into a small hole created by the magic blast, burying them in the sand. Lucy’s arms and legs are covered by the sand, Gray's up to his head in the ground, Natsu’s upside down stuck in the ground with his legs sticking up in the air, and (Y/N)'s buried up to her shoulders like Gray.
"What now?" Gray says irritated as Lucy coughs sand from her mouth.
“Happy?!” "Lumi?!" Natsu sits up, sand falling out of his mouth as he yells his friend’s name, (Y/N) yelling out for said cat.
"Help me." Happy and Lumi have their paws tied around a stick that's over an unlit campfire. There is a man in purple sitting cross legged, pondering his orb. To the other side of the man in purple is a short goblin-looking man. Across from Happy and Lumi are two people wearing matching dark red jackets. There is also a giant chicken-looking person that makes clucking noises and is wearing blue overalls.
"We're finally gonna get some real protein." Dark red jacket #1 says.
"No berries for us tonight." Dark red jacket #2 says, both drooling.
"Meat!" The chicken-man shouts, drooling as well.
"Our future holds a feast." The man in the purple jacket makes a prediction.
"Wow." Dark red jacket #1 says.
"Look at them shaking. Jeez." Dark red jacket #2 continues as Happy and Lumi tremble.
"Relax. You'ew gonna be in our bellies soon enough, so there's no need to be so scared." The goblin-looking man states.
"Actually, I'm not shaking like this because I'm scared." Happy reveals to the group of ruffians.
"Huh?" The goblin-looking man makes a questioning sound at this.
"I gotta use the bathroom really bad." Happy admits to his and Lumi's kidnappers.
"Huh?" The man in the purple jacket makes a questioning noise.
"I can't hold it much longer. And I bet you it's gonna make me taste weird."
"Who cares? Now cook them."  The goblin-looking man commands to the chicken-man.
"Meat." The chicken-man groans out. He then ignites his staff and steps forward, about to light the wood on fire beneath Happy and Lumi.
"I will take mine medium, please." The man in the purple jacket comments.
"Hey, I'm serious. It's gonna make me taste funny. I just know it will." Happy whimpers out as Lumi nods her head rapidly in agreement.
"HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!" Natsu's voice can be heard as he, Gray, Lucy, and (Y/N) appear at the top of a cliff. They stare down at the group of ruffians that abducted Happy and Lumi in anger.
"Happy! Lumi!" Lucy has her hands on either side of her mouth to amplify her voice.
"Thank goodness! Now I'm not gonna taste weird." Happy says as he and Lumi are relieved at the appearance of their friends.
"Pipe down." The goblin-looking man comments.
“That’s our friends you're trying to roast, buddy. Sorry, but you guys are gonna have to make other plans for dinner.” Natsu cracks his knuckles in anger.
"You're all wizards, aren't you? What guild are you with?" Gray asks the ruffians.
"I'm not telling. Get 'em!" The goblin-looking man shouts.
"Gray, let's do it." Natsu instructs.
"All right, but don't go tellin' me what to do." Gray comments as he crosses his arms.
The group of ruffian wizards leap up toward the group. Natsu punches one of the wizards in dark red, while Gray kicks the chicken-man.
"SAND BOMB, GO!" The goblin-looking man grunts out, punching the ground and summons a magic circle, engulfing Natsu in a sphere of sand and debris.
"Natsu!" Lucy shouts after Natsu as he's surrounded.
"He's fine. Go and help Happy and Lumi." Gray has his back turned to Lucy and (Y/N), kneeling on the ground.
"Right." The three run after the two cats as the two ice mages take a leap in the air as the wizards in dark red jump toward Gray and (Y/N) with their blades drawn. Gray quickly elbows the one on the right as (Y/N) punches the one on the left and incapacitates them.
"Help! Lucy's gonna eat me!" Happy exclaims as Lucy's angrily tries to untie his paws, then working on the rope around Lumi's paws.
"Shut up, cat!" The chicken-man appears behind Lucy with his fire staff raised above his head.
"MEAT!" The chicken-man exclaims as Lucy screams in horror.
"PLEASE DON'T KILL ME, MR. CHICKEN!" She screams out before Gray and (Y/N) come in and kick him in the head. Lucy, Happy, and Lumi take the opportunity to run away from chicken-man.
"Next?" Gray asks, in an almost bored tone, (Y/N) stands beside him with her arms raised, ready to fight off more enemies.
"You'll see someone special, but the stars point to great trouble with water and women." The man in the purple jacket says to Gray, causing both him and (Y/N) to sweatdrop in irritation.
"You're telling me my fortune?" Gray promptly elbows him with great force. The man in the purple jacket falls face first to the ground as Gray loses his clothes in their brief fight.
"They're not using magic. Wow." Lucy says to herself as she puts a hand to her cheek at both the Ice-Make mage and Ice Dragon Slayer's strength. "Put some clothes on!" She then scolds Gray. (Y/N) looks at him in amusement while she holds Lumi in her arms again.
"Crap!" Gray exclaims in frustration at his spontaneous stripping.
“Where did these brats come from anyway?” The goblin-looking man asks just as Natsu breaks out of the fly sphere of sand and lands on the ground in a crouching position with his left palm on the ground, facing the man. "Uh-oh." The goblin-looking man utters in fear.
Natsu rises and wipes his mouth with the back of his hand. "You jerk. Now I've got a mouth full of sand and it's all 'cause of you"  He spits out some sand. He then puts his knuckles together, creating a red magic circle. "Here it goes. FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST!" He shouts, leaping toward the goblin-looking man as he casts his spell, destroying the surrounding area.
~ Short Timeskip ~
The group of ruffians are tied up to a tree. Natsu and Gray have their backs turned to them. Natsu has his arms crossed, looking away from Gray, and Gray has his hand on his hip, looking away from Natsu as (Y/N) stands next to the two, Lumi floating by her head.
"Don't you think you might have gone overboard, Natsu?" Gray snarks.
"So what if I did? I got the job done." Natsu retorts back.
"Grow up, already. You're an embarrassment to the guild." Gray looks at the fire mage in irritation.
"What? Shut up!" Natsu fires back.
"No, you shut up." Gray retorts back.
"Guys, please stop fighting." (Y/N) groans out, sweatdroping, raising her hands in a placating manner as she makes an attempt to stop their bickering, Lumi floating next to her, giggling to herself.
As Natsu and Gray continue arguing, Lucy kneels next to the goblin-looking man. She has a look of concern on her face, as does the goblin-looking man.
"Lulla…" The goblin-looking man groans out.
"Huh? What's lulla?" Lucy leans in to hear him better.
"Lullaby… is…" The goblin-looking man continues.
This catches the attention of Natsu and Gray as they stop arguing when they hear the name, (Y/N) stops her attempts to calm them as well, the name catching her and Lumi's attention. The four of them look in the direction of the goblin-looking man.
"Huh?" Natsu makes a questioning sound.
"Lullaby?" Gray wonders out loud.
"INCOMING!" Happy flys into the group, knocking them over. The group looks at what just occurred. Happy and Lumi are flying in the air beside Lucy and (Y/N), a look of concern on their faces as they sit on the ground, using their arms to support them, Gray stands adjacent as he rubs his head. Natsu sits on the ground with his legs in front of him, he has a look of irritation on his face.
A giant shadow hand appears below the tree where the ruffians are tied up. "They found us. I knew we hadn't gone far enough." One of the men in the dark red jacket says. The shadow hand appears to grasp the trunk of the tree and pull it down into the ground as the ruffians scream in terror.
"What was that?" Lucy asks in horror.
"Who was that?" Natsu questions as well.
"Well, whoever it was, they're fast. I can't even sense their presence anymore." Gray rubs at his head.
"But what could this mean?" (Y/N) wonders mostly to herself.
"Lullaby…" Lucy murmurs in concern.
~ Back in Magnolia ~
A woman is walking down a street holding a giant horn over her shoulder. The people in the streets are in shock and a little frightened by the appearance of the Fairy Tail wizard walking down the street.
She's wearing a blue skirt, along with a metal waist pad, metal armour on her torso, metal shoulder pads, and metal gauntlets. There is a yellow mark groove that goes horizontally along the top of her torso and another marked groove runs vertically from the medial side of her shoulder down to her waist. She has long red hair. Her guild mark is underneath the two groove marks on the top right side of her torso.
