i would like to see either nikolai or sigma's sentences please :3 /nf
THANK YOU!!! YOU ARE FUELING MY TWO FAVORITE THINGS!!!
under the cut bc length. [it got REALLY long]
anyways, nikolai and sigmas prison sentences as they would be in michigan.
note: i’m not using the wiki for this. i doubt it covers everything, so im going back through the manga and analyzing everything from there. aside from finding out manga appearances, everything else is research and pre-memorized info.
note 2: i may have made a few mistakes with the sentencing but it should be accurate enough give or take 10 years.
note 3: there’s no minimum sentence since majority of research i’m doing leads to me picking the minimum years since it usually states “punishable by life imprisonment or any number of years” which is unspecific and sucks so i just dropped the category
nikolai!!! - crimes - sentence - reference state - references/citations

Things Hazbin Hotel season one taught us:
Everyone deserves a second chance, even if you don’t know how many chances a sinner may have received when they were alive.
People make mistakes, murder or manslaughter is just an oopsie.
If you’re perceived as a bad person, you’re not the problem. It’s usually someone else’s fault or because the system is set up against you.
If you do bad things, it’s because you’re misunderstood.
Just say sorry, no matter how bad your actions, it fixes everything.
You’re either a victim or abuser but not both, that’s too complex.
People who do heinous things are absolute monsters and don’t want redemption anyway, ever.
Even if you do heinous things, as long as you’re quirky it’s okay.
The rules on who gets into Heaven and Hell are arbitrary, even though the people in Hell are there for OBVIOUS reasons.
Just because one person in Heaven is a douchbag, it means they’re NOT the exception but the rule.
The path to redemption just includes saying you’re sorry and being nice. Who cares about the actual reason(s) you’re in hell, that’s not important. It’s not like sinners are in Hell for different reasons.
You’re going through a traumatic experience….Shut up. Everyone else has it bad too, let’s talk about it together.
S/A is serious when there’s dramatic music playing. Otherwise, it’s funny.
It’s boring to show the actual work a sinner puts in to be redeemed. Just have a time skip and say they made huge progress.
Angels committing genocide is wrong, but sinners killing each other daily is okay. Even when there’s a black market for old angelic weapons anyone can buy, it’s okay.
Put your entire being into your partner’s work.
If you have to fight your former comrades, think about your partner AGAIN. If you’re losing, you’re not thinking hard enough.
If your girlfriend says she’s a failure if she can’t accomplish your dreams, don’t assure her that she’s more than that.
You’re considered redeemable if you stand up to your abuser, even though you failed your actual problem of drug abuse.
You’ll grow close to the hotel staff and believe in the mission, even though you barely spend any time with them.
Follow your dreams, even if it’s literally pointless and does more harm than good.

What the Ace Attorney Villains Could Get Charged With (to the best of my research) (in America laws)
Game One
!Disclaimer! I know nothing about law take this with a grain of salt I was just bored.
Frank Sahwit
Burglary - This one is obvious. He was a thief. He stole stuff. How many charges exactly depends on how many he admits to or can be traced back to him.
Breaking and entering - At least one charge from Cindy's case, potentially more depending on any other burglary charges.
Assault and battery - Hitting Cindy with the Thinker. The assault may or may not be aggravated depending on whether it was technically intended to be used in a way that would readily and likely cause death.
Second-degree murder - This one could potentially be brought down to voluntary manslaughter. It depends whether he intended to kill Cindy when he hit her, and if he was in enough emotional distress that hitting her would be semi-justifiable.
Incrimination - In pinning the blame on Larry, he did this.
Fraud - Even if pretending to be a newspaper salesman to steal from people didn't constitute fraud, Payne stated this as his job. This means he lied about his job to the court by saying he was a newspaper salesman. Which is fraud.
Perjury
Redd White
Incrimination - This is when he tried to frame Maya, and when he shifted the blame on Phoenix. This may lead to two charges.
Obstruction of justice - In incriminating Maya, he tampered with the crime scene. Plus, blackmailing a judge is probably illegal and probably falls under this.
Corruption - He was a corporate official, which makes some of this other stuff constitute corruption, mostly the blackmail.
Blackmail - Speaking of, he could be faced with countless charges of this, depending how much could be tied back to him.
Assault and battery - Punching someone in the face multiple times is illegal, kids. So is hitting someone on the head. If Frank gets aggravated for the thinker, so does he. Phoenix's assault probably wasn't aggravated, though, as I doubt his rings/fists would be ruled a deadly weapon considering the intent.
Intimidation - His threat for an "accident" to happen to Phoenix is more than enough to be considered a threat of violence.
First-degree murder - His murder of Mia was completely premeditated. There's little he can do about this.
Criminal threat - Threatening to injure or kill someone is bad. And using flowery language like "accident" doesn't negate it.
Wiretapping - While he didn't actually put the wiretap there, it can be inferred he ordered it. This makes it conspiracy, so there is some shared guilt.
Conspiracy - The wiretapping was a joint effort between him and April. He may try to claim otherwise, but its degree of success is debatable.
Workplace abuse - It's a real good sign when your secretary fears you murdering her like you did to that defense attorney a couple days ago, Redd, I'm sure you could never get in legal trouble for that.
Perjury
Dee Vasquez
Racketeering - Oftentimes, people in organized crime are automatically found guilty of this. This being charging someone for a service they haven't requested (think mafia "protection").
Blackmail - This one is also pretty obvious. Jack Hammer.
Obstruction of justice - This is her tampering with the crime scene when she moved the body. Also potentially when she tried to kill a lawyer involved with the case.
Attempted murder - By proxy, two charges, when she ordered her goons to kill Phoenix and Maya.
Voluntary manslaughter - Hammer was trying to kill her, she's got that justified self-defense plea. Not that it matters much, because...
Countless other mafia-related charges - We don't know the exact details of her mafia connections, but she's entrenched enough to have goons. We can safely say she did a lot of illegal stuff in organized crime.
Intimidation - Mafia goons trying to kill you is pretty intimidating. That and the threats of erasure.
Criminal threat - See above threats of erasure.
Conspiracy - She works together with Sal Manella in the obstruction of justice.
Perjury
Manfred von Karma
Forgery - He's known to forge evidence constantly.
Obstruction of justice - See above. Plus, tazing lawyers and stealing their evidence is pretty frowned upon. So is intimidating witnesses.
Assault and battery - The evidence room fiasco. Potentially aggravated depending on the actual voltage of the tazer and if he lied about it or not, but given they didn't die, probably not.
Theft - He stole evidence from the evidence room.
Intimidation - Brandishing a taser at someone is generally considered this.
Corruption - Being a government official, most if not all this stuff constitutes corruption.
Incrimination - Due to his conspiracy with Yogi, he is guilty of attempting to frame Miles by proxy.
First-degree murder - He sees a gun and a man he doesn't like in the elevator, and he does think about it before doing it. Thus, it is premeditated and first-degree. Also, given his conspiracy with Yogi, he may also be guilty of murdering Hammond by proxy.
Child abuse - Both Miles and Franziska could push for this, even just with what we have explicitly stated. Depending on interpretation and how poor of a guardian he was, this charge could have some serious ground to stand on.
Emotional abuse - Pretty much the same hat as the child abuse charge, only less uncertain.
Criminal threat - I don't know what you want from me, man. He threatens everyone all the time.
Torture - I haven't played investigations yet, but from what I'm looking at, he psychologically tortured a guy, so. That's pretty non Geneva convention certified of him, even if this isn't a war.
Workplace abuse - Again, this is hearsay because investigations, but he's pretty crappy to his subordinates, it seems.
Solicitation - He heavily encourages Yogi to kill Hammond and frame Miles.
Conspiracy - He provides Yogi with the means to kill Hammond, so while there is technically no mutual agreement, he's also guilty of this.
Perjury
Damon Gant
Corruption - As a government official, a great deal of his crimes constitute corruption.
Forgery - A great portion of the conflict of his case comes from the forged evidence he made.
Obstruction of justice - Most of the rest of the conflict of his case comes from the evidence he withheld.
Blackmail - Quite a severe case of it, at that. Multiple years against a single person is nothing to sneeze at.
Incrimination - That's what it was when he made it look like Ema killed Neil.
First-degree murder - He thought about killing Neil long enough to consider the pros and cons of doing so, and went through with it. That's pretty premeditated. A good lawyer may be able to get him down to second degree for Goodman, but it's highly doubtful considering.
Conspiracy - He had Lana hide Goodman's body, and while there was blackmail involved, there was still a mutual agreement. Thus, conspiracy.
Concealment of death - There are a few different names for this, but it's when he had Lana hide Goodman's body. It was unsuccessful, but there were still significant steps taken to have it happen on both their parts, so he may get a partial sentence.
Criminal threat - He makes so many threats.
Workplace abuse - I think using a pipe organ to punish your employees violates some international laws or something. Speaking of which...
Torture - Of the audio variety. Seriously this guy is the police how did this fly for so long that is BAD.
Vigilantism - This is actually very interesting. Despite the fact that he is a member of law enforcement and Joe Darke did kill multiple people, he still used illegal means to bring him to some form of justice. Depending on how much he wanted Darke convicted, it could be argued that his actions constitute vigilantism.
Assault and battery - One case of assault against Goodman, and two charges of battery against Neil and Goodman. Assault is the threat of violence and the means to follow through, and battery is the actual act of violence; seeing as Neil was unconscious, he could not have been threatened. The assault was aggravated, as a knife is a deadly weapon.

thinking about riddle being a magic doctor with a very successful career. though he had always wanted to study law, he pushed his desires aside in favor of studying his mother’s profession. growing up, the expectation was that riddle was going to be a magic doctor, and when he was attending nrc that expectation was no longer a simple hypothetical. it was going to happen whether he wanted it or not.
so when riddle, years into a career he’s not very passionate about (but it’s making him plenty of money to live a comfortable life and it keeps his mother placated for the most part), is driving home after a late night working overtime at the clinic he isn’t at his best, mentally and physically. he’s tired, he’s trying to talk his mother out of yet another arranged marriage over the phone, and he isn’t very conscious as he drives down the long, dark, forested road towards his quaint home.
he immediately wakes when his vehicle makes contact with something, and that something is sent tumbling ahead, coming to a stop a few meters away, sprawled in the shadows like roadkill. riddle hangs up on his mother at once; he surmises a scolding isn’t nearly as bad as damage to his car or the unfortunate animal he’s hit.
after parking and using his phone to light the way, riddle finds what he happened to hit. and it’s not just any animal. it’s a human being.
rule-abiding riddle rosehearts has hit a person with his car.
he can already imagine the stories that will be told. he can imagine his mother’s disapproval. he can picture the police as they write him up and take him into court so that he can explain what he was doing on that dark road and why he wasn’t paying attention. maybe they’ll revoke his license. maybe he’ll never get behind the wheel again. and with these rapid-fire thoughts, he can see his career shrivel as everyone looks down on him with scrutinizing eyes. riddle rosehearts, intelligent, reliable, and honest, will lose everything he’s fought so hard to attain.
you’re in poor shape, bloodied and bruised, and your right arm and leg are broken. he can see the bone bent upwards and piercing through flesh in a grisly, gory sight. he nudges you with the tip of his leather shoe. you don’t stir. his heart squeezes, gripped with raw fear. hitting someone with his car is bad enough, but killing a person... he’ll definitely go to prison, won’t he? and then his reputation and the reputation of the rosehearts name will be forever tarnished. he’ll be labeled as a killer. he’ll be hated and scorned. his life will be over before it’s even begun.
riddle paces before you for a solid minute, chewing his thumbnail down to a stump. what does he do? what should he do? what’s morally correct? how should he even go about solving this issue? he has to call the police and an ambulance. but then, if he does that, he’ll be taken in alongside you and it’s so obvious that he’s the one at fault. the front of his car has an impossibly huge dent and there’s blood on the road from where you're currently bleeding. and if he killed you... if you’re actually dead, the punishment will be so much more severe. he can’t be jailed for vehicular manslaughter. he’s always followed the rules. he’s been good! he’s never done anything wrong. he’s perfect. his record is perfect. he isn’t a murderer. he isn’t bad. he’s not.
he’s not. he’s not. he’s not. he’s not. he’s not.
riddle drags your limp, bloodied body into the backseat of his car. he is haunted as he drives slowly through the night, his trembling hands gripping the wheel so tightly that his knuckles whiten. he’s wrapped you in his jacket and a spare blanket he had in his car so that you won’t get blood on the seats and... great seven, he sounds like a murderer covering up his tracks! it’s even worse when he catches himself hoping that there will be rain in tomorrow’s forecast so that your blood will be washed away and no one will ever question a thing.
his heart is thrumming with adrenaline, each heartstring pulled taut with primal paranoia. no one saw that, right? no one saw him hit a person, wrap them up like a mummy, and place them in his car. no one saw it. not even the animals in the forest. no one saw it. it’s his secret. he’ll deal with it. no one will know.
riddle is a skilled magic doctor, so he will take care of you. he’s dissected plenty of animals in the stages leading up to his degree; you’re no different. and he knows that with both needle and thread and some finely honed magic he can make you look alive again. that’s what he thinks when he fashions a splint for your arm and leg and wraps it well, his experienced fingers shaky with poorly concealed horror. luckily, you’re breathing. he nearly cried from relief when he heard the tiny wheezes coming from you. at least you aren’t dead. but the fact still stands that he hit you with his car and that he’s technically breaking many rules by not telling the truth. but his everything is at stake here. he could lose it all.
riddle spends the entire night cleaning and bandaging you. he washes the front of his car, grouses over the dent, and resolves to deal with it come morning. he locks you away in his room and walks circles in his sitting room, shutting every curtain and checking all of the locks twice. he turns the tv on and checks the news when the first rays of morning sunshine peek through the trees. he waits with bated breath, half-expecting to see his face on the screen. to see the headline about how the queendom of roses’s most prominent magic doctor has hit and killed an innocent pedestrian. but it never appears.
it’s hours later when you finally wake, and your scream is filled with so much agony that it has him cringing. you’re sobbing when he throws the bedroom door open and shushes you wildly, his eyes wide and horrified. he has to shove a rag into your mouth to get you to quiet down. you squirm as best as you can, but your every injury causes you a world of pain. riddle would know. he forgot to give you painkillers, which he’s quick to retrieve alongside a glass of water. the rag is still at your mouth when he speaks next, a low tremble in his voice.
“i’ll let you go when you’ve healed. i... i won’t hurt you. i just need you to stay here for a while. until you can walk again. you can’t go outside and you can’t call anyone. i’ll need your phone for that reason, okay?” you shake your head, whimpering a sad, blubbery sound that has his heart aching. this entire situation is a mess. he wants to cry alongside you, but he can’t. he has to fix this, so he hardens his stare and adds, “i’m a doctor. your leg and arm were severely fractured in the...accident, and you’ve sustained bruising and scrapes from the road. it’ll take a while for your broken bones to properly heal, but i’ll do everything i can to speed up the process so you can leave. if you understand this and don’t plan on screaming anymore, nod your head.”
you comply and he sighs, withdrawing from you. the rag falls from your mouth. he helps you take the painkillers, holding the glass to your lips as you drink. who is he kidding? of course he isn’t going to let you go. he can’t when he’s already in so deep. and when he starts to see your image on the news, he knows he absolutely can’t let you leave.
riddle’s life has always been complicated, but this is a new form of complicated. this complication will cost him everything if anyone finds out, which is why he’ll keep this secret buried deep within the forest in the peaceful walls of his home.

Note
i have a question. i don’t mean this horribly!! but per this post you reblogged: https://www.tumblr.com/jewish-sideblog/744967243590434816, you believe to call what’s going on in palestine a genocide is antisemitic. can you elaborate on that, please?
I don't want to get in the habit of addressing things other people have said in posts I reblog, because those aren't my words and a reblog isn't a blanket endorsement of everything other people have said. But this topic is really important, so I'll weigh in just this once.
The primary concern I have with the use of the term genocide is Holocaust Inversion. Most people don't have a conception of genocide outside of the holocaust, so the usage of the word genocide is often an obvious ploy to weaponize Jewish suffering against Jewish people. Its sole purpose is to equate Israelis to Nazis and Jewish government to fascism.
Yet, there is a lot of death in Gaza right now. Horrible death, needless death. I think any erasure of that is as horrible as Oct. 7th denial. To outright deny that a genocide is happening exclusively because of the historical reality of the Holocaust isn't just or beneficial. So we have to look at it objectively. As I said earlier today, I'm not an international relations expert, so the following is my understanding and should be taken with large grains of salt.
"Genocide" as a war crime is extremely similar to murder as an individual crime. The key component (besides death) is intention. If you kill someone on accident in most English-speaking countries, you'll likely be charged with manslaughter, not murder. Similarly, genocide requires the intentional destruction of a population of people, well beyond the necessary realities of civilian casualty in active war zones. Death itself, even in large numbers, does not a genocide make. Civilians will always die on the battlefield. Always.
The International Criminal Court says that Israel has to meet standards of care in Gaza to ensure that genocide does not occur, meaning they don't think one has already occurred. There's some dispute on whether or not those standards are being met-- Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International say that Israel is failing to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, while the Israeli government issued sealed documents to the Hague last month detailing their compliance measures. It'll take a while to hear back on those. Personally, I think starving Gaza is an obvious measure of intention to destroy Palestinian civilians.
Anybody is obviously welcome to disagree with the highest court of international law in the world. But the fact that the experts seem hesitant to make that determination gives me pause. Why are so many people keen to bring Israel to the Hague, not Russia for their indiscriminate killing of Ukrainians or the Houthis for manufacturing a humanitarian crisis in Yemen? Hamas, one of the governments of internationally-recognized Palestine, fully admits to intending to destroy the Jewish people in part. They say they'll do it again if they get half the chance. Why is only the Jewish state called out as a unique, genocidal evil? Must we label Palestinian deaths as a genocide in order to mourn them effectively? Aren't hundreds dead a day reason enough to mourn and to push for peace?
Again, I don't want to deny the allegations of genocide any more than I want to accept them. I'm following the experts on this one. And so far, the experts say "maybe". As long as they say "maybe", anybody who insists on definitely and absolutely labelling it as a genocide creeps at least suspiciously close to Holocaust Inversion in my eyes.

say what you want about the greens i know everyones awful blah blah favourite war criminal whatever... but the greens never directly targeted children. (and dont argue alicent was trying to get jace and luke killed with the bastardry talk. it was so obvious jace and luke were bastards that rhaenyra even giving birth to them placed targets on their backs - daemon spoke candidly about harwin being their father and he literally lived on a different continent. everyone knew. alicent was anatgonising rhaenyra about it to try to get her to concede her claim to aegon. she had plenty of oppertunities to gather evidence, use her familys connection with the faith and get rhaenyra and her boys strung up if she wanted that). and in the case of aemond killing luke - even in the book it was kid on kid violence that we cant prove wasnt an accident and in hotd what we get is basically vehicular manslaughter.
people will throw around that 'the greens are coming for you rhaenyra, and your children' quote as if its reality rhaenys is spewing. as if we didnt see alicent fight tooth and nail for rhaenyra and her children to be spared any consequences. as if we didnt see the entire council concede to alicent's desire to offer them generous peace terms that included clauses that would have helped solidify rhaenyra's sons legitimacy. joffrey was killed by his mother's own dragon and both of rhaenyras younger boys were left untouched. compare that to the way aegon and helaena's boys were brutalised? beheaded. torn apart. it was aegon ii who spared the pretender gaemon palehair on account of his age and made him a ward of the crown - a boy that (apparently) wasnt even his own son. compare that to the treatment of little jaehaerys at a similar age when daemon decided he deserved to die as retribution for a crime he'd had no part in at all. (another reason to be critical of them including the bs fighting pits story in hotd). rhaenys quote is bullshit. its bias. like half of the dialogue in the show tbh.
and when rhaenyra sees alicent again she has the fucking gall to try and hold alicent accountable for jace and lukes deaths?? as if alicent targeted them? the Hypocrisy. when rhaenyra's husband sent killers to murder an innocent little boy in front of his grandmother and mother and siblings.
if alicent was being an evil bitch then me too because i wouldnt have stopped at just bitchily pointing out rhaenyra's hypocrisy i would have told rhaenyra to go fuck herself repeatedly and at volume

The Crime of Andrew and Ashley tallied up its obvious life whether life is sentenced or not, For the severity of the crimes they most likely got the maximum for a lot of the crimes. It's not explicitly stated where they are in the world if they are in a place in our world so I'm just going to go off my state penal codes and crime laws.
Andrew: 5 (Possible) life sentences, possible execution×2, 160 years and 4 months.
In chronological order.
Manslaughter: Andrew asked that girl to come to the Warehouse where he knew Ashley was going to do something sinister. Seeing as they were kids in the time they did this crime I'm not sure what would be sentenced then but if it were to be discovered now it would carry a sentence of 3-11 years seeing the gravity of the crime (Locking someone in a crate until they suffocated) I would assume the maximum sentence would be enacted.
Kidnapping: Aggravated kidnapping as the person was under the age of 16. Which charges a hefty sentence of 30 years with a minimum of 6 and the possible life without parole. However it does not state how old they are. If they were under 12 no prosecution would be enacted but instead heavy probation and monitoring. Probably be placed into government care as well. This goes for the manslaughter charge as well.
Burying the body of the girl in of itself is two years and six months.
Breaking and entering: Breaking onto someones porch more than one time. It's not that serious at only 6 months.
Mutilation of a body: mutilating the body of the cultist is a change of 12 years, 7.5 years initial confinement and 5 years extended supervision and hiding said body is only a year
Cannibalism: there is no direct law for cannibalism in my state however In Idaho it's a maximum of 14 years in prison. It does also carry a life sentence in other places of the world.
Murder: Andrew murdered the warden after finding Ashley in the cultists room. It gets a bit complicated in the fact that the wardens were doing something highly illegal in of itself and Ashley was in a murder scene. However it doesn't change anything as it is just murder. Second degree murder charge is 15 to life
Murder and coercion: They used the girl on the floor above to call the guard to the floor below and murder him. That was 1st degree murder and has a charge of 25 years, Coercion (For what they did) 20 and second degree once more is 15 to life.
Murder again. I assume the hitman wouldn't be known by the general public nevertheless less it's still a murder charge. It would be hard to tell if the Hitman was trying to kill the duo or not so it would be seen as a murder and a dumped body. 25 Years.
Grand theft Auto: 3 Years.
Trespassing: Going into someone's backyard without their knowledge or permission. 6 months.
Ritualistic sacrifice: No direct charges for It but many sources say it's the maximum charge as murder. Life without parole or death.
Familicide: Death.
Credit card theft: Stealing someone's credit card while having them at gunpoint is Robbery. 9 years.
I didn't double up crimes (Besides murder) but if I were to it would be 161 years straight and the combined fines would be: $291,000

THE MORNING AFTER: ONLY FRIENDS, EPISODE 1 ("MY PHONE'S STILL NOT WORKING?!") META EDITION
(Unless something changes, I'll be letting loose my Only Friends episodic meta a day late from now to October -- mommy duties call on the weekends! Saturday nights'll be for that GMMTV good-good from here on out.)
So, yesterday's episode was great. I totally enjoyed reading everyone's unhinged pleasure at the first episode yesterday, and I reblogged a whole bunch of stuff and picked up on some early theories. Jojo, Ninew, and Den were having a grand time on Twitter, and it was just a lot of fun to track (JOJO).
Before getting into the meta, just to put this on the record: my first expected and/or hoped-for clown checkpoint is a confirmed and committed throuple (NOT the missed threesome we almost got in this episode, but damn it, missed opportunity!). I understand that @respectthepetty and @shortpplfedup have separately originated a murder/manslaughter clown checkpoint (thanks, @slayerkitty, for THAT heads-up, lol) (and see below re: Mew), which tracks with Jojo's previous comparison to 3 Will Be Free -- am I HOPING for murder? Maybe I'm not HOPING for murder, but for what I'm about to muse on, maybe it won't be a surprise?
@cookie-kat777 (here) and @isaksbestpillow (here) and so many more folks out there are positing that something the fuck is UP with Mew, and I agree. I find him to the the most interesting character so far, simply because he's the only one who's not letting his actions fully tell his story -- he's almost fully in charge of his narrative, as opposed to everyone else so far (Ray, obvious pained drunk; Sand, obviously broke and tired of the BS, cc: @neuroticbookworm, etc).
My read on the kitchen scene is that Mew knew beforehand that he would stop Top in his tracks prior to letting Top in. Mew is clearly a game-player, slamming that bell during bar trivia (....... y'all, that was a HELL of a lot of drinking for bar trivia, HA), and it just struck me that there was a "win" in Mew getting Top to move towards commitment before Mew gives up his thang. I smell narcissism on the dude. Mew's not acting like a blushing maiden, quite the opposite, he knew FULL WELL what he was doing when he let Top in -- but I want to know his goal in getting Top to settle down and in first.
And moving towards faen in a week? (A WEEK?!) (UM.) For Top to bag commit to Mew -- a virgin! -- that quickly, particularly in the face of the conversation he had previously had with Boston about getting with Mew in the first place: what's Top's ultimate priority here, as well? Top's going to commit to someone he hasn't slept with yet? Color me surprised. What, to show up Boston? Is that how playas play? I dunno, we'll see. I'm not sure that Boston is a strong enough reason. Maybe there's a male-toxicity-driven shallange that's coloring this narrative, but I'll wait to find out more.
Other quick thoughts: what's the source of Ray's pain that's driving him to multiple and regular black-outs? What's Sand so tired of? (Family strife, poverty, rich kids, etc. -- what's happening there). What's up with Cheum, Mew, and Boston leaving Ray to stumble to his car alone -- especially now that it's clear that he has a pattern of blacking out and showing up to school hungover?
I don't want to project, but I'm gonna: this is a hell of a heavy drinking crew, partying QUITE hard and regularly. If Jojo's previous references to at least Gay OK Bangkok stand, I'm wondering if one overarching commentary/lesson we're going to get out of Only Friends is -- escaping to the bottle is not the best way to mitigate yours or anyone else's issues. We know he's framed shows around health issues before, GOKB and The Warp Effect as the most prominent. Let's see.
Speaking of Gay OK Bangkok, I offer another OF clown checkpoint: in my review of GOKB, I posited that Pom of GOKB and Shin of 3 Will Be Free are avatars of a very similar character style -- virgins, glasses-wearing, and unassumingly wiley in their ability to survive in a competitive world. I think Mew joins that avatar crew, but in a much more insidious fashion. Let's see. I love that Jojo is playing around with this style.
One more clown checkpoint I'm gonna put out there is that Jojo and Ninew do not let the recent Thai political turmoil escape this show. I don't know HOW it'll even work, but I have my eyes sharply peeled, because the political craziness was going down literally as they were filming the show. We'll see -- I'll likely be wrong, but ya never know.
I think that's it! I LOVE Jennie, I can't wait to see Nonnie, and Drake -- welcome back to the boys, my friend. This episode was fantastic, but by FAR the best part about yesterday was seeing the filmmakers go totally insane on social media, hyping their work and their people -- damn. When the artists KNOW what they made is good, then that's just like, it's cookies for us. Jojo and Den are out there replying to fans, and it’s just awesome. What a ride already!

Saw a post that has me thinking; what exactly are John Pruitt's crimes? Like what would he get charged with?
I think the most obvious one is killing Joe, but the question is what the charge would be. He says "something came over me" and that he "watched [himself] kill Joe" but also admitting to not feeling guilty would, uhh, not make a jury like him lol. I'd argue it was First Degree Manslaughter based on Washington state penal code (link to reddit thread about the location of Crockett), he did shove Joe but didn't seem like he wanted him dead. (and because im extremely extremely biased) But I think you could very very easily argue for Second Degree Murder, if you assume he did mean to kill Joe. I definitely think it was not premeditated, or John would have been actively hunting someone to feed.
Second major crime would be poisoning but again we're running into the intent of harm thing. "Every person who willfully mingles poison ... in any food, drink, medicine, or other edible substance intended or prepared for the use of a human being or who shall knowingly furnish, with intent to harm another person..." Umm, what if the dumbass in question thought he was doing something good?
I thiiinnnkk he could also be on the hook for all the other murders? At least the ones the angel did, since I don't think creatures can be tried for murder lmao. Which isss... at least 2 more Manslaughter charges?
Oh speaking of the angel, international smuggling is probably illegal- actually didn't he say "packed it with antiquities to hide it" or something? That's definitely smuggling lmao tho I don't know if he'd be tried for that here, I'm not sure who has jurisdiction over international crimes.
Actually we can probably throw forgery or impersonation in there too, he had to get back in the country somehow, and all his documents say hes an 80 year old man. Don't think security is gonna buy "miracle" as an excuse for why you look 50 years younger than the guy on the passport photo, buddy.
But anyways as his legal defense, my client was simply in a silly goofy mood your honor, look at him, hes a poor little meow meow and has done nothing wrong in his life, ever :3

Late Night Thoughts
Okay so..............
The coffin of Andy and Leyley. Where do I even begin?
It's a very good game I'll admit that and I'll give credit where credit is due. The game has a very simplistic but cool art style which makes it very recognizable to the fans of the game or at least those who have either played it or seen playthroughs of it. The overall story telling and pace is very well done and it certainly has kept me intrigued. I tend to have a soft spot for plots that contain edgy and dark themes to it (so long as it is written really well and not overdone) and this game seems to have done a good job of not overdoing it.
Now then, on with some issues I personally have with a certain aspect that has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth (and not in a good way considering I love sour candy and what not).
(Just a heads up, I'm not saying that the topic I'm about to talk about can't be used in stories, in fact this topic has done a really good job to make me feel bad for Andrew but at the same time be like "Dude, are you dumb?!". The incest aspect of their relationship is actually written well because it's done one hell of a good job to make me feel uncomfortable as fuck and I hate it. Now do I support incest? Absolutely fucking not, that shit is hella disgusting and I DO NOT condone that shit.)
On to the rant.
The major issue I have about the story of the game is the overall relationship Andrew and Ashley have and of course it's the incest aspect of the relationship. But that's obviously a very obvious topic that a lot of people would not be a fan of (unfortunately there are some creeps out there who ship the two regardless). Let's set the incest aside for a moment and discuss the main issue of the Grave sibling's (that's their last name, right?) relationship and that is how very toxic and abusive it actually is.
In the first episode of the game we see that Ashley has a very unhealthy obsession with her brother and although there's nothing wrong with having a fondness of your sibling, Ashley just takes that fondness to the EXTREME. We see that she gets overly jealous whenever Andrew remotely gives another girl attention and would do anything to get them away from Andrew as we could see in the game. I mean c'mon, she not only committed manslaughter (straight up murder actually) she also consistently harassed Andrew's girlfriend until she dumped him. But oh, that's not the only horrible things she's done to Andrew. Ashley would straight up emotionally manipulate him into doing all the dirty work only for her to later on be like "I didn't tell you to do it, you CHOSE to do it yourself." Miss girl don't lie, we all know you literally manipulated him into doing it to appease you only to later have the AUDACITY to gaslight him.
Now I won't go too hard on Andrew considering that he's the victim in all of this but there are times when he literally could have put an end to Ashley's abusive behavior and stand up to her, but seeing him try to do so only to fall back to being submissive made me feel sorry for the guy. However, things would get even weirder with him when he asked his girlfriend to tie her hair up so she could resemble Ashley a little more which uh.....HELLO??? Nah nah nah, you wrong for that one Andrew. I'm sure there's a few other things he's done that's equally as weird as Ashley but so far that's the one example I can think of at the moment. Oh wait, there's that one official art of Ashley just sitting on Andrew's lap with a bitemark on her shoulder while he's lighting a cigarette and has a hand up her thigh as if it was completely normal. *Sighs* Sweet home Alabama.
I know there are people out there who will say things like: "But the game literally has cannibalism and murder but you draw the line at incest? That makes no sense!" Um, no not really. It's literally in our nature to find incest disgusting considering how the offspring will come out with a lot of issues and thus will not survive out in the world. Yes I'm aware that royalties in the olden days literally married their distant cousins to not "taint" the bloodline and I say that those people are equally as weird as the ones who ship Ashley and Andrew. As for the cannibalism part, yes it's also disgusting but if you think about it it makes a lot of sense that someone would resort to it if it's for survival, a last resort if you will. Incest? Now how the fuck is that going to benefit human survival? Last I checked no one has ever done the dirty with their own family members to survive.
Alright, and I think that concludes my rant for tonight. I just felt like ranting about the Grave sibling's relationship because I literally have no one else to talk to about this and I do find the topic interesting.........very disturbing though.
Eugh, gross.

(Warning: LONG analysis) Okay, I’ve been obsessing over Arcane for the past 6 months and I think I finally have something worth talking about that isn’t already overused. That being, the recurring theme of miscommunication. Communication and miscommunication arguably drive every single character relationship and plotline in this show and the fact that nobody’s talking about it confuses me so, here we go.
Vi and Powder: From that very obvious scene where Powder overhears Vi talking to Mylo, to the very last scene where Marcus drags Vi away to Stillwater, miscommunication is the singular driving factor that drives the two apart. We see this even in episode ONE: Powder was eavesdropping on Vi and Mylo talking about her, and she hears, "You're right, there a lot that Powder just can't do." Powder then stops eavesdropping to process what she thought was Vi's lack of belief in her strength, something she was very very self-conscious about at that time. Vi then went on to finish her statement by revealing the things Powder "just cant do" were all negative jabs at Mylo meant to teach him to see Powder as his equal, which is what Powder wanted, but more importantly NEEDED to hear at that time. This is the first interaction that led to the sisters falling out.  We see this yet again between Vi and Powder in episode 3, both before the incident, and after. Vi says that Powder can't come with because she "isnt ready," Powder takes this as another example of Vi not believing in her, when in reality Vi wasn't sure any of them were going to survive and just wanted to keep her sister safe. Then afterward when Vi hits her (which is incredibly understandable, Powder just murdered their entire family and quite literally sent their life up in flames), Powder believes Vi ran away because she doesn't come back, when in reality she had been incarcerated by Marcus and sent to Stillwater out of Powder's view. Because of this, Powder believed that Vi had truly abandoned her by choice for the ENTIRETY OF THE TIME SKIP.
We see this yet AGAIN with Jinx and Caitlyn. Jinx sees Caitlyn as her replacement, since all Jinx sees is Vi suddenly getting buddy-buddy with an enforcer, which was previously both of their shared enemies being thieves from Zaun and and because an enforcer killed their parents during the opening bridge fight. In reality, Caitlyn was the one good enforcer, the only reason Vi had ever gotten out of Stillwater, and the only person Vi had seen with a lead on Jinx since she was imprisoned. Vi only went with Caitlyn so that she would be able to find Jinx. Vi had also only been with Caitlyn for a couple of days at that point. Jinx knew neither of these things, which is why she saw it as a betrayal.
Jayce and Viktor: We also see this theme with these two, although not as prominently. Jayce kicks Heimerdinger out of the council because he won't let them achieve their dream of using Hextech to help the poor, weak, and sick in the undercity because "it isnt safe." (Which is actually true) Viktor isnt present for those meetings. Instead, he sees Jayce actively bark at him for violating a block with the excuse that the undercity is "dangerous." The opposite of what he was insisting to the council. Jayce even apologized to Viktor immediately after "Youre right, Im sorry." However that damage had already been done. On the flip side of this, Viktor hid his body modification/augmentation experiments from Jayce. He covered his affected hand and leg and never admitted to the manslaughter of Sky. (Note that Jayce hid his venture to the undercity with Vi to destroy Silco's drug ring and the involuntary manslaughter of the young boy from Viktor as well). If they had just sat down and confessed to these actions, they most likely would never have split (I know im saying this in past tense when it hasnt actually happened yet but we all know its inevitable). We are probably going to see more of this more strongly later, and I personally can’t wait.
Contradictions:  On the contrary to ALL OF THIS, there are a few relationships in Arcane that GROW over time, rather than wither. Most notably, Vi and Caitlyn. They stand out for a reason. They are the biggest and most notable contradiction to this theme. Because unlike Vi and Jinx and unlike Jayce and Viktor, they do communicate. And we see how it works. Vi takes Caitlyn down into the undercity and forces her to see it as equal and human, the way the people that live there do. Vi shows Cait the Piltover/Zaun issue from both sides. More importantly, Vi shows Caitlyn her traumas and her weaknesses. Vi tells Caitlyn about Powder, takes her near the last drop, takes her down to the sump where the Shimmer addicts live and she sees the consequences. And by then, Caitlyn doesnt see them as disgusting or monstrous. She sees them as human, and as equals. They help her save Vi's life, with the aid of Shimmer no less. And then how does Caitlyn repay this? By taking Vi to high-society Piltover. To her home, to her bed, and then to the council. And Vi gets to see firsthand just how impossible it is to bargain with the council. She sees why its so hard to just "make a change," even with all of the money and power that someone like Caitlyn has. They share their feelings and their experiences and their vulnerablities, and it makes them both stronger as a result. And it makes their relationship stronger.
Jayce and Mel also have good communication. At the orchestra, Mel tells Jayce exactly why his decision to crack down on security was a mistake, and he doesnt hide his stress. He tells her he never wanted to be involved in politics, and then blames her (rightfully), “you pushed this on me!” She then explains why she did it, (he was a big face and would have huge political influence regardless so he might as well make use of it) and makes a good point. Later, Jayce allows her to kiss him and take him home, and repays it later by laying on her lap which shows his vulnerability and trust in her, and then vents his feeling to her multiple times. They have good communication (minus the political manipulation), and their relationship grows as a result.
This brings me, not to a conclusion, but to speculation of where the next season is going to go. Back to Vi and Cait, I think Caitlyn’s baggage is going to drive a stake in their relationship temporarily. Now it is definitely easy to argue that Caitlyn doesnt have much baggage, or vulnerabilites to share other than being sheltered and privilaged. But thats because unlike all of the other characters, her big turning point, her big character-development-catalyst, hasnt happened yet. Sure meeting Vi was definitely big and definitely important to her character arc, but she hasnt had the earth-shattering traumatic experience that most other characters in the show have already had. And thats because its coming in season 2. Caitlyn's earth shattering moment is going to be her mother's death. I mean we can all picture it. We all know its coming. Caitlyn running up and collapsing to a desperate kneel in front of her mother's bloodied corpse, buried by the rubble of the council room that she watched Jinx destroy. A perfect parallel to the death of Vi's family, Mylo, Claggor, and Vander. Were going to see Caitlyn loathe Jinx for it, and harshly disagree with Vi's insistance on saving her. Its going to destroy her mentally, and Vi, who has already gone through this at a much younger age, is going to have a hard time either seeing Caitlyn finally go through the same experience she did and think she should just 'suck it up' or itll break her heart to see the same unfortunate circumstance happen all over again, but to someone she loves. Either way, oh boy are we in for it big time.

ik we hate peter pettigrew canonically because of obvious reasons (betryael manslaughter giving up your besties kid to a mass murder all the gist and breaking an entering)
Like I get that but in fanon i always waonder why we never go deep into peter petteigrew like why aren't there more fanfics andstuff where he ends up with soemowone and has happy children and blah blah..
Like we did it for morally dubious characters like Severus Snape or Regulus Black (and the only thing we knew about the guy was that he drowned and some horocrux shite)
It'd be interesting to see more Peter Pettigrew fanfics where he's living his best life and we see him as an mc and not as some side character whoe there to kiss up to james and lovingly push the boo boos away from remus and sirius.
There's a lot with Peter Pettigrew and now imma add some hc becasuse why not
(this is my fandom headcannon version of him so like don't hate)
He's def a cat person
faverotie color is blue and would never say that alour
loves dancing (took lessons when he was younger)
really good at drawing becuz of the times he spent in detentions
for some reason can do math rilly well but is absolute shite in essey writing
is really good at herbology becuz he helped out his mum
cuz he's blonde he'd die his hair pretty colors
his dad's shite
has the biggest crush on bary crouch jr and only pandora knows
there besties (pandora and reggie)
they have thursday night gossip
since peter is so quite he knows like all the gossip
can be really cuddly when he wants to be
remus calls dibs on peter usually when he wants to cudde
sirius pouts because he wanted peter
peter can brain hair like really well and sometimes when sirius can't sleep they'de spend the night in the common room by firelight with sirius rambling and peter quitly braiding his hair
he still did it even after the prank
peter didn't really take sides when the pranktm happened.
he wen't back and forth making sure remus was ok and making sure sirius was ok and making sure james wasn't running himself ragged becuz of his feelings

The fact that she corrupted them without their consent implies otherwise…
"Hmm, yeah, it does, doesn't it?" Marvin shakes his head. "I mean, we don't need any more proof that she's full of shit, really. It should be obvious by now. I don't know why we're going into so much detail about this."
"Well, if we don't go into detail, then it's possible Iris could get out on a loophole, or with a lighter punishment," Jackie says. "Or at least, that's how it is in normal trials. That's why lawyers have to hammer out what's a manslaughter versus a murder and all that. You have to be sure, y'know?"
"Yeah... I just... don't like hearing her try to weasel her way out of this," Marvin says.
You don't have to be here, you know, JJ says.
"No, I want to see. Really."
"You sure?" Jack asks. "Because if it's upsetting you, you probably shouldn't be here. Making yourself upset deliberately."
"I can handle it," Marvin insists. "I want to see how all this works, anyway."
"And yet you complained about their process just now," Jackie mutters.
"It's not like that, it's just... I was getting too emotional about it. I need to try and stay disconnected."
Well, it sounds like they're going to start reading people's testimonies now, JJ says.

The Genshin Impact Cast & Their (Alleged) Crimes
You read that right. I'm going down the list of characters that are out and leaked/announced as of the date of the 2.7 livestream. This will include criminal charges, civil charges, and (of course) war crimes. I'm not sorry about this at all.
For legal reasons, if it wasn't obvious, this is a joke.
Before we move on, all of them will be slapped with aggravated assault preemptively because this is how the game works in general, but I will put this charge in some descriptions for emphasis.
(Thanks for the stroke of inspiration. You know who you are LMAO.)
Albedo: First-degree murder and unlawful experimentation as if Mond found out what freaky shit he was doing, he'd be mobbed and killed.
Aloy: Trespassing (do I tack on illegal border crossing too-)
Amber: Arson (unintentionally), civil misconduct, negligence
Arataki Itto: Disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, aggravated assault (that one time), vandalism
Barbara: Disturbing the peace (but not really lmao)
Beidou: Tax fraud/evasion, piracy (obviously), open container of alcohol (this is seriously a charge), probation violation, (legal) racketeering, smuggling
Bennett: Negligence, personal injury, the Torts law would have a ball with this kid
Chongyun: Trespassing, disturbing the peace (the ghosts would sue due to the yang energy)
Diluc: Willful killing, taking of hostages, willfully causing great suffering, extensive destruction and appropriation of property, killing a man already down (legit war crime), vigilantism, homicide, kidnapping, grand larceny, attempted involuntary manslaughter (there's more but this is getting long)
Diona: Malpractice, attempted poisoning
Eula: Disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace (Mondstadt hates her enough to waste tax dollars on this)
Fischl: . . . Indecent exposure (people really didn't like her in the lore)
Ganyu: I mean, if you wanna count war crimes from 2000+ years ago, I could tack on willful killing and the criminal charge of aiding in that regard, but other than that, she's pretty clean.
Gorou: Willful killing, aggravated assault, voluntary manslaughter
Hu Tao: Disturbing the peace, solicitation, harassment, kidnapping, attempted murder/burial of someone who is alive
Jean: Child labor maybe? Perhaps. Yeah. A charge of child labor is fair. And maybe a child soldier? They aren't in a war, but hilichurls are hostiles, right? Is solitary confinement considered child abuse-
Kaedahara Kazuha: Treason, espionage, rebellion/insurrection, inciting a riot/rebellion, civil disorder, illegal border crossing
Kaeya: Perjury, conspiracy, extortion, white-collar crimes, unauthorized disclosure of classified information, forgery, bribery, willful endangerment
Kamisato Ayaka: . . . I've got nothing. Literally nothing. I can't even put legislative misconduct, aid in a crime, or even complicity. She's innocent.
Kamisato Ayato: Extortion, racketeering, aiding and abetting, fraud
Keqing: She could get some class-action suits and some charges in terms of running the workplace, but other than that? No.
Klee: Arson, involuntary manslaughter (?), disturbing the peace, crimes against wildlife
Kujou Sara: 'Legal' extensive destruction and appropriation of property, 'legally' willfully depriving a prisoner of war or other protected person of the rights of fair and regular trial, 'legal' deportation or transfer or unlawful confinement
Kuki Shinobu: She actually tries to drop these charges. She went to law school, for goodness sake. Is being a lawyer a charge?
Lisa: Cruel and unusual punishment, use of torture, speculative disclosure of classified information per according to the Heavenly Principles
Mona: Tax evasion
Ningguang: Collusion, market, and price manipulation, monopolizing, and perhaps she'll also be held liable for whatever Beidou or Yelan does as she works with them
Noelle: If her scaring off Snezhnayan diplomats could be a charge for treason somehow, then sure
Qiqi: If she's technically not alive, does the law apply posthumously? Even if it does, she's done nothing wrong except maybe trespass on Jueyan Karst
Raiden Shogun: In the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, Section 8, Paragraph 2, Points A, B, and C, I list off the following: (A) I, II, III, IV, VI, VII, VIII, (B) I, II, III, IV, XII, XIII, XIV, XXI, (C) III, IV
Razor: Is he even under the jurisdiction of the law?
Rosaria: Homicide, assassination, voluntary manslaughter, vigliantism, familicide
Sangonomiya Kokomi: Willful killing is a thing and she absolutely incited rebellion too, totally guilty, but despite being in a war, she didn't commit that many obvious war crimes besides those.
Sayu: Negligence, liability
Shenhe: Voluntary manslaughter, first-degree murder, aggravated assault
Shikanoin Heizou: Petty thievery, liability, negligence, bribery, misconduct
Sucrose: Aiding and abetting in unlawful experimentation
Tartaglia: Wanton murder, enforced disappearances of persons, torture, wanton killing, extortion, grand larceny, terrorism, intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population, threatening public officials, the entirety of Section A of the War Crimes clause (it goes on)
Thoma: Illegal immigration except the Kamisato Clan renders that nonexistent, so he's innocent
Traveler: Over the implied longevity of their existence, it is my personal belief that they have collected war crimes and criminal charges like Pokemon and have caught them all (but I'm not going as far as anything sexual or domestic because that's a line I won't cross)
Venti: Gliding under the influence, open container of alcohol, grand larceny, disturbing the peace, public intoxication
Xiangling: Crimes against wildlife, speculative intentional poisoning (contested), malpractice (?)
Xiao: Manslaughter, first-degree murder, willful killing, torture (of the psychological variety)
Xingqiu: He could be slapped with a harassment charge if Chongyun cared to bother, but some vigilantism is a thing
Xinyan: Disturbing the peace, indecent exposure (the majority of the public really seem to hate her)
Yae Miko: Mostly extortion, but if she wanted to run a pyramid scheme, so could do so with wild success
Yanfei: The one prosecuting the cast
Yelan: Extortion, kidnapping, solo racketeering
Yoimiya: Negligence, damage to public property, unintentional arson
Yun Jin: The only thing I can say is that I don't know what an opera singer would do that's illegal or anything that she'd do personally that would be illegal
Zhongli: Is it terrorism if he's the ruler that allowed it? Is it treason? Can he even be held to a variety of war crimes? All I know is that the charges of negligence and liability law against would be downright criminal in of themselves.
Bonus - Paimon: Harassment. That is all.
---
If you wanna slap some more charges I may have missed or even debate some of them with others, go ahead and go ham.

My brain has been eating an idea of Ghost and Toast being a evil gay duo and now I think I've got like a whole swap AU with Ghost/Toast and Jimmy/Gavin
Gavin steals this object that he has no clue what it does. At first he was just going to sell it for a quick buck, but further inspection (and some dead guy freaking out when they spot it) suggests something more paranormal. Gavin doesn't deal with that kinda stuff so he begrudgingly calls Johnny and gives it to him and makes it P.I.E's problem.
Then things start having over the next months. For one: there's been an increase in murders recently, but surprisingly, Gavin can't seem to see their spirits. Usually when a murder happens, he'll note the victim's ghost somewhere nearby, but that hasn't happened. Odd.
Second: Johnny might have something to do with it. gossip he's picked up often mentions suspicions surrounding his twin. That gives Gavin pause: yeah, Johnny can be violent and he's commited manslaughter, but murder? No.
Then it gets worse one late night, when Gavin gets woken by frantic knocks on the window and a familiar voice: "heyy GavGav! Can you let me in?" He opens the blinds to see Jimmy on the window sill looking... Oddly alive, and uncharacteristically nervous. He lets him in (because what other option is there?) And demands an explanation.
Turns out, that device he gave Johnny has the ability to remove ghosts from their dimension. Full on gone, never to be seen again. At first they used it sparingly, but after one of Jimmy's possession, something in Ghost snapped - and he started killing on his own.
At first Jimmy was proud: he's just like him now! Yippee! Then Toast started using the device to remove the victims, and they started feeling a bit invincible. After all, why worry about hauntings when you can just delete them in a matter of seconds? Then came Ghost's comments about issues with "a certain someone" - Jimmy knew it was him. And he was starting to feel a tiny bit of panic... Probably.
So one night, enough was enough: Jimmy didn't like how things were going (and that's saying something) and he wanted them to stop. So he possessed Ghost and tried to talk to Toast about it.
He used the device on him. And they split.
Ghost groggily woke up to a knocked out Jimmy and worried Toast checking to see if he was ok. He was fine, but came the question: what to do with Jimmy? They can't use the device how that he's somewhat alive, and it's too risky to kill him again, so they just lock him in the basement until they work out the details.
Jimmy felt like pray in those few days. He had no idea if he was alive again (he's similar to Spooker, except more obvious) or what they'd do to him, and felt fear for the first time. Of course, he found a way to break out. The rope they used to tie him up was old and weathered, so it was easy to use friction to snap them, and a slow and careful search in Ghost's bag led to him getting his knife.
He knew he should've just stabbed them right then and there. He didn't know why he didn't. Instead he scampered off to a safe hiding spot, and decided to head to the only person he knew that was nearby: Gavin.
Gavin is stunned. This had gone way out of hand: there's a new killer duo at hand, one being his brother; noone could trace back to them; and the only person that could've done something is in his apartment.
So yeah: the Johnnys get a taste for blood and Gavin and Jimmy now have to work out how to deal with them, considering they have the power to full on delete you before you can say anything, and Jimmy can't possess Ghost anymore.
Sounds like a hectic plot in the making— I’d read that fic! ^^
I do wonder how the other members of PIE are handling this descent into the “dark side”, and if opposition is even possible, considering the banishment thing.
The turn toward violence and stuff from our main guys could be the influence of something paranormal as well, since Gavin’s assessment of the PIE guys not being really violent before this does make the downward spiral more difficult to do without a nudge. It’ll be both easier to solve and explain if there’s something else at the root of this.
I do wonder what PIE intends to get out of active murder and ghost vanishing. Maybe there’s a goal they’re working toward that they always knew was an option but never had the guts to risk so many people to do it?

thoughts on will parry's predicament in tsk (and bleeding into tas, so beware spoilers)
(forgive me for inaccuracies in this meta, i dont have my copies of hdm with me so im going on memory alone!)
so will parry, maybe 13 years old, has murdered a man. manslaughter, really, and was it even really his fault? the man shouldn't have been there in the first place.
he runs and runs and runs in fear, all the way from - what was it, winchester? - to oxford. he's physically running away, and while he would like to mentally run away too, he can't. he's gripped with fear and guilt and despair, and the only good emotion he's probably feeling is gladness that he had managed to get his mum out of there before that night.
he's too young and doesnt understand enough to realise that the dead man would never have been found. pullman does such a good job of making us get inside will's mind, see things from his childish perspective - we know, distantly, that these men must have been hired by someone else who's up to no good to go and break in to his house etc, and thus we might deduce that there would be some sort of "clean up" where the death of the man doesn't see the light of day.
in the show, we're shown this explicitly. it's almost too obvious? we know suddenly that it's boreal behind the invasions n stalking.
in the book, however, we're left as shocked and reeling as will is. like i said, distantly we know all those facts - but pullman manages to write in such a way that we see things simply from will's perspective, and we forget all logic. we're all scared little boys running from a bad deed.
and he meets lyra, and amongst the things he's thinking is probably "she doesn't know what ive done. i can still be a good person to her."
except of course, lyra pries and consults the alethiometer and she finds out exactly what will is. a murderer.
and well, anyone who has heard me speak abt it before knows that that scene where she finds out he's a murderer and is just like "awesome, he can keep us safe then" is one of my favourites. i think they did it dirty in the show. BUT regardless, i believe that this is both anticlimatic and also a climax at the same time.
anticlimatic because she finds out will's a murderer and she's actually put at ease. climactic because of the exact same reasons: its a pivotal moment in their relationship, even as early on as it is.
(actually can i say that as much as i adore the scene, i find it a bit..... wrong? it always rubbed me the wrong way that the altheiometer, a truth telling device, called will a murderer. it shouldnt, because that is ultimately what he is!!! he killed someone, intentional or not. but.
but.
will parry unintentionally and quite by accident killed that man. the word murderer just never sat right with me, despite it being true. i dont know if im alone in this - does anyone else feel this way??
anyway, moving on. the fact is, he seems to quickly forget about it. he's still on the look out for coppers when they cross back into his world, so of course it's not out of his mind completely! he's paranoid but not so paranoid as to be irrational.
but he goes the rest of the books without really thinking about it much more. remember when he draws the knife and intends to stand up to - who was it, the metatron? he does so without a thought.
which is partly on par for his character: he's a protector, he's a survivor. but i also feel like pullman forgets to give him any of the trauma that should come with accidentally killing someone.
even though kids are more resilient. even though its very much likely that he's pushed that into the mists of his mind simply because he has more pressing matters to attend to (finding lyra).
actually it's just occured to me; he doesn't have time to really grieve his father, either.
but anyway, back to the topic.
when the knife shatters, he's thinking of his mother. when he cant make another cut, he's thinking of his mother.
it's interesting that pullman chose love to be the driving force behind everything that will parry does. i actually really appreciate and adore that. i don't belive its ever explicitly said? but he is the bravest character in the trilogy. lyra endures a lot and is brave too, don't get me wrong, but there's something about will, seen consciously putting love first time and time again, that makes you remember that he, unlike lyra, did not choose this adventure, and so him standing in the face of it all and choosing to love anyway is a sign of his bravery.
i mean, thats not to mention the time he stands in front of iorek and says "fight me".
it's interesting to me. he is by far the kindest character in the series. even lyra, though never meaning ill, has her moments of small cruelty, though they taper out towards the end of the triology as she grows up and is also influenced by will.
i started this trying to gather a few thoughts on will being a murderer, and ive ended up concluding that will is the bravest and kindest character. do you think balthamos would have done what he did, sacrificing his life, if he had never been influenced by will?
and let me touch on one thing i said in passing: will did not choose this journey. men started stalking his mother and him, forcing him into the actions at the start of tsk; lyra, on the other hand, fought tooth and nail to go north and save roger, and then continued to chose to walk over the bridge between worlds that asriel created. you can say that it was fate and she was destined to do so, so she didn't have a choice either.... but its not true. she had a choice the same way eve had a choice.
well! ive said a lot and resolved none of the floating thoughts in my head. feel free to comment or add your thoughts to this, or come talk to me in the hdm server (msg me if you would like a link) about what ive said!! i just love will parry a lot.
