Max Verstappen

It was halfway through the day when Max caught you freshening yourself back up. At first, he brushed it off, assuming maybe he worked out while he was gone and needed a shower. He was never the type to press you on the matter unless it was something that caused you discomfort, and he needed a reason to beat up someone for you. He was sweet in his own way, but a kind, gentle soul when he needed to be.

"Alright, I'm leaving," you said, reaching for the keys. Max had looked over from his spot on the couch, raising a brow. "You're leaving? "I didn't know you had plans?" he questioned. He knew deep down he would be safe. He trusted his friends, plus most of them were other wags. You always got along with Alexandra.

Letting a soft chuckle slip from your lips, you shook your head, looking at him. He looked even more confused before you explained. "I'm going to my Brazilian waxing appointment." You smiled at him. Max's brain took a moment to process. "And that is what exactly?"

You sighed, figuring you would have to explain the basics to your lovely boyfriend. "It's waxing, they do everything, front, back, and everything in between." You winked playfully. He blushed for a moment before nodding his head. "Have fun!" he replied, eyes adverting back to the television.

"I will. "I have to go, or he's going to make me pay extra! "If I’m late,” Before you have the chance to prance out the door, your boyfriend was right behind you. "He? "It's a GUY?!" he said rather loudly, moving to block the door. You looked at him, almost offended. “Yeah? "It's a wax, this is his job," you tried to reason.

Max shook his head. "No, I can do it!” he said as his eyes widened at his suggestion. "Max, you can't wax me down there" you shook your head in protest. Max scoffed. "Schatje! I've seen every inch of you naked. I know my way around your body. In fact, I know my way in! "I'm waxing you! End of story!" he picked you up, throwing you over his shoulder.

Charles Leclerc

The crazy thing about Charles is that you told him about your Brazilian wax appointment, but it seems he forgot. Which isn’t a surprise considering he wasn’t paying much attention when he was spoken to, but you loved him regardless.

Opening the door, your eyes landed on Charles, who was playing his sim racing, giving a soft smile towards him as you spoke up. “Okay, I’m heading out for my Brazilian wax” you said as Charles hummed with a soft smile. “Enjoy yourself mon amour, give her a tip I like when she does your waxing” he stated.

 “Ah. "Amy’s out of town, I have a new waxer, but he said he knows what he’s doing” you assume, with a shrug. Charles forgot everything at that point, his head turning fast with an expression of disbelief. “He? Mon amour! It’s another man! He can’t see what’s mine!” 

“Charles, it’s just his job. "If I was uncomfortable, I’d never book this waxing” you shook your head, he let out a sigh. “I know that, trust me I know” he assured, silence falling over before he hummed to break the tension forming. 

“Just don’t get a waxing at all..personally, I don’t need this guy investigating you like some temple”, he said, causing you to chuckle, “It’s nothing like that.” Let me get my wax so you and I can have a good time. "I feel it ruins the mood if I’m not up-to-date with my self-care!”

Charles shook his head. “Fine…but let me fuck you first before you go. "I need to leave behind something,” he said as you slapped his arm. “Charles!” You shook your head, he shrugged.

“What? I don’t want anyone seeing what’s mine! At least let me label it before you go mon amour!”

Lewis Hamilton

Fairly respectful guy, so you honestly have no issue with him, and he knows half the people you see anyway. He pays for your hair, nails, anything really. He just didn’t realize you had a man doing the waxing instead. 

Lewis casually lounged on the couch, Roscoe resting next to him and the TV playing some random film he found when channel surfing. When he saw you walk towards the door, he finally spoke up.

"Brazilian waxing, right?" he asked, wanting to double-check as he nodded your head in response to him. “You should be back in time before our date tonight. I know it’s not far from here,” he smiled softly. 

"Actually, it’s a new place I'm trying. They have me booked with some guy," you said as he nodded his head. "So how much did they-wait a guy?" he looked at you as if you had just insulted Roscoe himself. Which only caused you to giggle in response to his reaction. “Yes. A man is doing my waxing.” 

Lewis raised up from the couch as Roscoe looked over, his rest now disturbed. “I can live with you not waxing, you can just shave” he said as you cringed. “I hate shaving. "I need to be nice and pretty” you said as he groaned. “I’ve eaten it before! "Why does it matter now?” he said as he shook his head, Roscoe barking. “Lewis! "Roscoe is right there!” You gestured. 

“Excuse me baby doll, you know I love Roscoe but I’m more worried about the man waxing you!”

It was a pretty simple day with Lando playing games with his best friend Max and you rummaged through the bathroom and digging through makeup. “Lando!” You shouted from the bathroom. He excused himself from the game, walking to the bathroom. 

He opened the door as you looked at him with a frustrated expression. “Have you seen my makeup brushes?” You asked, earning a headshake from him. “I haven’t. "Where are you going anyway?” he asked. Lando didn’t mind you dolling up, but he also knew you rarely did. “Brandon is waxing me today. I scheduled my Brazilian wax for noon.” 

Gears turned in his head as the bathroom door was fully open now, his weight leaned against it. “Excuse me? Brandon? "What kind of womanly name is that?” He asked as you snickered, shaking your head. “Not a woman,” he said as he gasped. “You’re cheating on me?!” He shouted. Earning a rather offended expression on your part. “That’s not cheating!” 

“Letting him see MY woman’s elegant body is cheating!” He said as you groaned. “It’s a wax!” You scoffed. “Same thing.” My eyes only. "He’s going to try to steal you from me. "I know this because you’re absolutely sexy in my eyes and everyone will try.” He bickered back. A small smile broke out onto your face. “Are you sweet-talking to me?…” She smiled. 

Lando sighed. “Yeah. "Is it working?” He raised a brow, hating to admit how it was working, you caved in. “Kinda yeah,” You said as he grinned. “Excellent.” "You are going to get that waxing, cause now I feel bad.” He said as you, awed at his sudden change. 

“Thank you, Lando…” you smiled softly. “Of course.” "Now where are the wax strips you use?” He asked, scooting you out the way to rummage for them. “What?” he asked as he sighed, his eyes speaking for him. “Not happening Lando.”

“Do you want the wax or not? You don’t even have to pay me. You get a free Brazilian wax and I get to see you naked. It’s a win.”

The crazy thing is, Carlos looked into the booking since he was fine paying for it and just wanted a basic booking list to look at. It lined up perfectly with the vacation he booked for you two for the anniversary on the way. Everything was a miracle for him. 

“You sure you want to come to the room?” he asked as Carlos chuckled, nodding his head. “It’s not like I haven’t seen you naked before cariño”, he smiled softly. You kissed his cheek, gave a soft sigh and walked into the room, knowing exactly what to do already. 

Overtime, Carlos had been texting on his phone and waiting, so when the door opened, he looked up and his smile dropped as he looked at the guy rather closely. “Who are you?” He asked suddenly, causing him to side eye his sassy tone given. “Ah, I’m doing the waxing today, my name is-“ Carlos had quickly moved from his spot.

“You? "No offense, but you can’t wax my woman,” he said. You glanced at him for his boldness. “Carlos-“  "No! I want a woman! I don’t exactly trust this process.” He glared at the guy. The man clears his throat. “I can assure you it’s a fast process,” he said. 

Carlos crossed his arms. “I want a woman to wax. If not, "We’ll be taking our leave.” You looked at the guy, trying to give him a reassuring smile. “I’m sorry about that,” You said as the guy walked out of the room. 

Your gaze shifted to Carlos, who looked more relaxed and comfortable, only giving you a silent shrug in return. “You scared him away…” you said, but you smiled lightly. “Not that I’m complaining, but you can’t scare away people I need for my wax”, you said as Carlos kissed your forehead. 

“Dios mío, relax. I’ll make it up to you during our anniversary vacation. In the best way possible”

Dramatic, you knew how dramatic he was capable of being when you first started dating, and he damn near scared the waiter away. So with the waxer, you knew it was no different. 

It was the usual morning of you both lounging around the bedroom, wrapped in the warmth of your cuddle session. “I don’t want to get up, but I can’t miss my wax either” you said as Fernando hums, his arms still around you. “Schedule it another time” he suggested, and you figured maybe it wasn’t a bad idea, so you did it. 

Sadly, you lost track of time and when you finally got up two hours later, you internally screamed at yourself. Fernando only propped himself up on his elbows, watching you move around the bedroom in a panic. “You’re only a bit late,” he said. “A bit?! Fernando, I’m hours late! I had to call to make sure I could go!” 

“And?” he sighed heavily. “The original waxer is out. Luckily, this one guy made time to squeeze me in today for a Brazilian wax”. At the moment when you said that, Fernando was well awake and jumping out of bed. “No! Absolutely not! "Do you hear yourself, Mi amada?” he asked, eyes wide. A part of you was aching to laugh just because of how dead serious he was. 

“Who needs a wax anyway? "I can manage” he shrugs, causing you to snicker. It’s not funny! "He’s going to see you! "Every bit of you! "I can wax you! "I’m your husband!” He said as you giggled. “Boyfriend.” You corrected. “Soon to be husband! "My point is, you’re laughing, and I’m offering to wax!” He pointed out. “You’re such a drama queen Alonso,” You said. He stood in front of you, silence taking over, who was going to cave in? Only time was capable of telling. 

Now here you are, lying down at home. “I can’t believe I let you talk me into letting you wax me at home,” You said as he shrugged. “I was helping you”, he said as you rolled your eyes playfully. “You’re lucky the world loves you.” He gave a satisfied smile. 

“Happy to help, I’d be a fool to allow another man to touch you. Call it dramatics but you love it.”

SONIC

It was supposed to be a casual day. You and Sonic had been enjoying some downtime together after a particularly intense adventure. The sun hung lazily in the sky, casting its warm glow over the green hills as you both made your way back toward Tails’ workshop, chatting about anything and everything.

You had never been the most graceful, but today you felt particularly... off. Your feet tripped over each other more than usual, and you found yourself stumbling over small rocks and uneven patches of grass. Sonic, of course, was on his usual lookout, darting around and running in circles as he did, a lighthearted grin on his face as he teased you playfully.

"Careful there! You’re gonna make me look bad if you keep tripping like that!" Sonic laughed, his voice full of that confident energy you always adored. But despite the teasing, you couldn’t shake the sense that something wasn’t quite right. Maybe you were tired, or maybe you were just being more clumsy than usual. But it didn’t matter, because you were with Sonic, and his easy-going demeanor always put you at ease.

As you approached the entrance to the workshop, you took a few steps up the stairs, thinking it was just another simple climb. But your ankle caught on the edge of the first step.

Your body lurched forward, and before you could even react, you pitched downward, arms flailing uselessly in the air. The world seemed to slow as you saw the ground rushing toward you.

"Woah, no!" Sonic’s voice cut through the air, but it was too late. You crashed to the ground with a sickening thud, landing hard on your palms and knees. A sharp pain shot through your body, and your breath caught in your throat. You winced, immediately feeling the sting of scraped skin and bruises forming where your body had hit the pavement.

Sonic was by your side in an instant, his face a mixture of concern and disbelief. His usual carefree attitude vanished, replaced with a rare intensity as he knelt beside you, hands hovering over your body but unsure of where to touch. "Hey, hey, are you alright?" he asked, his voice unusually soft, eyes scanning over you to make sure you weren’t seriously hurt.

You groaned, sitting up and rubbing your sore palms. "Yeah, I’m fine... just... being clumsy as usual," you muttered, trying to brush it off, but the pain was a sharp reminder that this wasn’t something you could easily laugh off.

Sonic frowned, not at all amused. "That wasn’t funny, you know. You scared me." He carefully helped you to your feet, still checking you over with his quick, worried glances. "You really need to watch where you’re going, you could have seriously hurt yourself."

"I know, I know," you grumbled, feeling a little embarrassed. "I don’t know what’s wrong with me today. I guess I just wasn’t paying attention."

He sighed, reaching up to ruffle your hair with a fond smile, though his worry didn’t fade. "You’ve gotta be more careful. I mean, I’ve seen you trip over your own feet before, but this... this was a new level." There was a bit of playful teasing in his voice, but it was clear it was his way of easing the tension.

"Yeah, well... what can I say? I’m a walking disaster," you said with a weak smile, trying to lighten the mood, though the pain still pulsed in your knees and palms.

Sonic gave you a concerned look, then immediately crouched down and pulled you into a gentle hug. "You're lucky I was here," he murmured, his voice unusually quiet. "Don’t go getting hurt just because you're too stubborn to admit when you're in pain."

You blinked in surprise at his soft words. Sonic wasn’t usually the type to get emotional, but the worry on his face told you everything you needed to know. "I’m alright, Sonic, really." You pulled back slightly to meet his eyes, but he just shook his head, his usual confidence returning in the form of a slight smirk.

"Just promise me you’ll be careful next time. I don’t want to have to carry you around all day," he teased, but his grip on your shoulders was firm, as if he was afraid you might take another tumble.

You couldn’t help but laugh a little, even though it still stung. "I’ll do my best, but no promises," you teased back, knowing full well your clumsiness was a part of who you were.

Sonic smirked, but the worry never left his eyes. "Alright, but if you trip again, I’m carrying you straight to Tails to get patched up."

You shot him a playful glare. "I think I can manage on my own, thank you very much."

"Right, of course," he said with an exaggerated eye roll. "But if you need anything, you let me know. Got it?"

You smiled softly, feeling grateful for his presence. "Got it, Sonic."

He pulled you into another quick hug, this one tighter than before, making sure you were steady in his arms. "Good. Now, how about we get you inside and let Tails take a look at those scrapes?" He began leading you toward the door, his playful teasing still intact, but it was clear he was keeping an eye on you, not willing to let you out of his sight.

As you entered the workshop, you couldn’t help but feel a warmth in your chest. Despite your embarrassing fall, Sonic’s concern and care made it feel like everything was going to be alright. After all, you had him by your side. Even when you were clumsy and scraped up, he would always be there to catch you.

SHADOW

The wind whistled through the trees as you and Shadow made your way across the tranquil forest path, the sound of leaves rustling underfoot blending with the occasional birdcall. You’d been out for a while, walking side by side with Shadow, though the two of you had barely spoken a word in the past hour. Sometimes, there wasn’t a need for conversation when you were with him. His quiet presence was enough.

However, your clumsiness never took a break, no matter how calm or serene the environment was. You had tripped over a tree root earlier, but you had managed to laugh it off, chalking it up to another one of your usual accidents. But the feeling of unease had settled in you again. Shadow had been quieter than usual, and you knew he wasn’t one to show his emotions easily.

You reached a small set of steps leading down a hillside, and for some reason, you felt like you were walking through molasses. The world seemed to move too slowly, your footing a little more unstable than normal. You tried to catch your balance, but your ankle twisted in a wrong direction. Everything happened so fast, your heart skipped a beat.

Your feet flew out from under you, and before you could even gasp, you hit the ground hard. The sharp sting of the impact sent a wave of pain shooting through your legs and wrists, and you instinctively reached out to break your fall. But it was no use. You lay there for a moment, stunned and breathless.

“Ugh...” you groaned, wincing as you pushed yourself up, your palms scraped raw. You had to bite your lip to keep from letting out a full-blown curse.

A soft, low growl reached your ears, and your heart sank a little. You knew that voice.

"Are you seriously okay?" Shadow’s tone was sharp, the sound of his boots approaching quickly. He didn’t sound angry, but his concern was evident in the roughness of his voice. You tried to sit up straight, but your vision blurred slightly, and you still felt the throb of pain in your limbs.

"I'm fine... it's nothing," you replied, trying to act nonchalant. But you could feel the heat rising to your cheeks from embarrassment. You knew you weren’t fooling him. Shadow wasn’t blind.

His expression darkened as he knelt beside you, eyes scanning your body with precision. "You’re far from fine," he muttered under his breath, inspecting the cuts on your palms and knees. His usually unreadable face was harder to read now, his lips pressed into a thin line.

You wanted to say something, to make light of the situation, but you found yourself struggling. Shadow... caring? It was rare, and you didn’t quite know how to handle it.

"Does it hurt?" he asked, his voice softer now, his gaze steady on you.

"Not that much," you lied, trying to mask the pain. You could see the skepticism in his eyes, the sharpness of his stare that spoke volumes.

He didn't respond at first, but you felt his gloved hand gently tug you up from the ground, supporting your weight as you tried to regain your footing. You winced again, and Shadow gave you an almost imperceptible look of irritation. "You're as stubborn as ever," he muttered. "Just admit that you need help. I’m not going to leave you out here to get hurt more."

You shook your head. "I’m fine, Shadow. Really," you insisted, but even you didn’t believe the words that left your mouth. You had always been clumsy, and it never really fazed you—until now.

He didn’t respond right away. Instead, Shadow carefully examined the damage to your palms, his sharp, red eyes narrowing. Then, in an unexpected move, he picked you up in his arms, ignoring your protests as he lifted you effortlessly.

"What are you—Shadow! Put me down!" you sputtered, your face flushing in embarrassment. This was so unlike him.

Shadow’s eyes softened a fraction, his jaw set in determination as he looked down at you. "I won’t put you down until I know you’re not going to collapse again. Don’t fight me on this."

You fell silent, your chest tightening a little. He was serious about this, wasn’t he?

"You're more fragile than you think," Shadow continued in a rare, quieter tone. "You might not show it, but you’re not invincible. I don’t want to see you hurt." The words were blunt, but they had a depth that you hadn’t expected. Shadow, for all his tough exterior, had a way of showing his care in ways he didn’t always express.

You swallowed, the words caught in your throat. "Shadow... I didn’t mean to be so careless."

He looked down at you, his eyes unreadable as usual, but there was a flicker of something softer in them. "You don’t have to apologize. Just be careful next time."

His grip around you was steady, and it wasn’t the possessive hold you might’ve expected from him. It was protective. For all the times he pushed others away, this side of him—this rare, caring side—reminded you that Shadow wasn’t as indifferent as he wanted the world to believe.

"Just don’t do anything like that again, alright?" he said, his voice still gruff, but the hint of concern was unmistakable.

You nodded, a soft smile tugging at the corner of your lips. "I’ll try my best," you replied, feeling oddly comforted in his arms. Even though you were clumsy and had just made a fool of yourself, Shadow was there. And in that quiet moment, you knew he would always be.

AMY

You had always been clumsy. It wasn’t a minor inconvenience either—it was the kind of clumsy where you tripped over your own feet, bumped into walls, and somehow managed to get hurt doing the simplest of things. Amy had caught onto this very quickly when she started spending more time with you.

It started with little things. She’d hold your hand when walking together, making sure you didn’t trip over cracks in the pavement. If you tried to carry something heavy, she’d take it from you before you could argue, giving you a soft smile.

“Don’t worry, love! I got it!” she’d say in her usual cheerful tone, expertly balancing whatever you had in your hands while you awkwardly shuffled behind her.

But even with Amy’s efforts, your clumsiness never ceased. One day, you had been helping her set up decorations for a small get-together when you somehow tripped over the air itself, sending yourself tumbling backward. Before you could hit the ground, Amy was there, catching you with surprising strength for someone her size.

She sighed, gently lowering you onto a nearby chair. “You really are accident-prone, aren’t you?” Her voice was full of affection, and despite the obvious concern in her eyes, there was also amusement.

You gave her a sheepish smile. “I guess it’s a talent?”

Amy chuckled before shaking her head. “It’s a talent I’d rather not see you practice so often.” She disappeared for a moment, only to return with a small first aid kit. “Alright, let’s see the damage.”

It was always like this. No matter how minor the injury, Amy insisted on taking care of it. A small scrape? She had a cute bandage ready. A bruise? She’d apply a cold pack while rubbing soothing circles on your back. A particularly nasty fall? She’d fuss over you for hours, making sure you were comfortable and not in pain.

“You have to be more careful,” she scolded lightly as she dabbed antiseptic on your latest scrape, her touch feather-light. “One of these days, you’re gonna get seriously hurt, and I won’t always be there to catch you.”

“But you always are,” you teased, watching as her cheeks turned a soft pink.

“Well, yeah,” she admitted, looking away as she placed a cute, heart-shaped bandage on your knee. “Because I care about you, silly.”

Warmth bloomed in your chest at her words. You reached for her free hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. “I know. And I really appreciate it.”

Amy smiled at you, her eyes shining with fondness. “Good. Because I’m not going anywhere.”

With that, she leaned forward, pressing a quick, feather-light kiss against your forehead before pulling back with a giggle. “Now, promise me you’ll try to stay on your feet today?”

You grinned, swinging your legs playfully. “No promises.”

Amy groaned dramatically before pulling you into a hug. “You’re gonna be the death of me, you know that?”

But even as she complained, she held you tight, her warmth a reminder that no matter how many times you fell, she’d always be there to pick you back up.

This is very true but also VERY VERY BAD. TAILS IS A KID HIMSELF HE HAS NO BUSINESS RAISING A CHILD

It should also be said that to his credit, Knuckles IS doing a good job of keeping her safe and fed. He just is way too caught up in trying to train her to be the next guardian and also doesn't see much of a point in silly things like going to the doctor. This is where Tails steps in to basically co-parent in place of Sonic, who's sometimes busy saving the world and sometimes just procrastinating.

It sure did! :)))))) Sonic and Knuckles spend a significant amount of her childhood being split up but still trying to make something work. Usually they'd just get frustrated with each other and start fighting over whether or not she should be the next guardian. They got a lot better when they actually split up for good and even went back to being good friends, but still, the damage was long done. She always feels like no matter what she does, she'll disappoint one or both of them. Luckily she had Tails and the Chaotix to be there for her :')

Shadow is a really good dad to Echo! He does struggle with expressing his own emotions so maybe he doesn't express his love as often as he should, but he's really good at listening to others' emotions and being a good support. I think Shadow is, in general, a lot more emotionally intelligent than a lot of people give him credit for!

OOHHH, this is such an interesting question!

I'm of the opinion that Silver is, by far, the most OP character in Sonic's roster of friends. He could level a city if he really wanted to. But his Achilles' heel is that he consistently underestimates his opponents and gets careless. So I think that he could wipe the floor with anyone he wants to, but at the same time, almost any character could also realistically beat him.

I haven't had the chance to mention it anywhere, but Pitaya does have a power - she has bullet punches. Think mantis shrimp style. She hits fast as hell and hard as hell. I think that someone as disciplined and trained as her could probably kick Silver's shit in so fast if 1) she takes the right approach and 2) Silver underestimates her or lets his guard down (which he probably would)

TL;DR: It depends on who is more serious about winning that day!

I have a pet emergency: My fiancé Lusana’s dog, Amy, had a miscarriage last week, in which a piece of placenta was left stuck inside her, it started to rot so she had to undergo surgery to remove it last Monday alongside her reproductive system, the vet told us it was already infected and almost compromised her intestines, as the damage had begun to perforate her womb.

That was fully paid by the both of us, and she was on her way to recovery, but just a couple of hours ago she started to bleed profusely from her vagina, right after we discovered her stitches had become infected yesterday, hence a visit to the vet earlier in the day in which he said we needed to up her antibiotics and clean her more frequently to avoid any further spread.

So basically we were both blindsided and caught completely broke, as the surgery costs us 200 dollars, we contacted the vet and he, knowing of our financial situation, recommended we use cold compresses and buy her a pill meant for blood coagulation, both of which we did and so for now the bleeding has stopped.

Nevertheless, he advised that if she starts to bleed profusely again, we have to take her to the ER ASAP, and since he doesn’t have one, it needs to be in a different vet and out of pocket, and if that doesn’t happen, we still need to take her to him in the morning, to find what happened and what can be done, and as long as its not another surgery, it will be free of charge.

So, an ER visit will set us back 100 dollars give or take, and a new surgery somewhere around 150, we just spend 200 and so are very short right now, but if we need to head to an ER at 2 am, we will, because Amy had been with my fiancé since 2018, she loves her so much she hates my guts since I took her “daughter” away, and I want my Luisana to have her for as long as I had Pacho, my old 18-year old pooch who passed away at the end of 2023.

So please, help us help her, anything will be of great assistance, and if she doesn’t need an ER visit, nor a new surgery, whatever we get will be used for a new round of tests, just to ensure this doesn’t happen again, to ensure she also gets to live 18 years!

This is the second time attempting to make a post about it, we just had a scare that was thankfully nothing serious, and the app deleted everything I had typed after it decided to refresh.

After a recent interview where Iizuka said it was possible for IDW characters to show up in the games, I've seen some discussion about how the characters need to be introduced "the right way" for people who don't read the comics. And, like, this is obviously true to some extent. You want to convey why people unfamiliar with them should care about these characters, instead of just assuming everyone already knows who they are and their whole backstories and everything. (Anyone who's watched Disney+ Star Wars already has some easy examples of times where they were like "you guys already know this character from the cartoons, right?" and casual fans were completely lost.) But I think people are overestimating how much work this would actually take, especially people who argue that the characters need full-blown reintroductions in the games that depict their backstories all over again and treat them as characters Sonic doesn't already know

I think it's easy to forget that not everyone who plays Sonic games has played every Sonic game. Kids especially. Every single major recurring character in the games debuted before today's generation of Sonic kids was born, and as such every new game is someone's introduction to those characters. The games with the introductions for the Chaotix, Blaze, Silver, Omega, Cream, the Babylon Rogues, Fang, Mighty, Ray, etc. are straight up not available at all on modern hardware without resorting to emulation. To many people picking up Team Sonic Racing or Mania or whatever, those characters are already some random characters Sonic apparently already knows from some previous story. These are not things that every single person who picks up a new Sonic game is intimately familiar with. And yet the games don't feel the need to stop and recount their entire backstories every time they appear.

Also, like, even if you have played every single game, Sonic already has a long history of introducing new characters with little to no fanfare, often treating them as characters Sonic has already met. Core characters like Tails, Amy, and Metal Sonic were really just dropped into Genesis era sequels with no explanation for people who didn't read the manual (i.e.: most players). Sonic has a kid sidekick and a girl who has a crush on him and a robot duplicate now, just roll with it. The modern era would continue to do this with characters like the reimagined Team Chaotix, or Orbot and Cubot, who just appeared in the games one day with no setup. We got along just fine.

(This is to say nothing of the nature of the creative medium the IDW characters originate from, where every new comic arc is treated as somebody's first and supporting characters are periodically given reintroductions to get newer readers up to speed. We've been over Whisper's backstory multiple times now.)

Again, obviously I do want characters like Tangle, Whisper, and Surge to show up in the games with compelling introductions that do the characters justice, but I think people are overthinking how much effort that actually takes. You do not need a whole elaborate adaptation of Whisper and Surge's backstories in the games just for them to have a cameo. You can have Sonic already know them, and if the details are even relevant you can convey that stuff in other ways - brief exposition in the dialogue, context clues, in-game character bios, new stories that showcase their important character traits without 1:1 recreating the stories that have already been told, out-of-game promotional videos and animated shorts like the ones they did to get people up to speed on who the hell Fang is, etc. This is pretty basic stuff when writing for a long-running multimedia franchise.

The Season 8 Destiel Meta Post Nobody Asked For (and why I think the writers had a Destiel endgame option in mind for season 8)

Okay, so here's the long version of this post that almost nobody wanted, but I'm writing it anyway. This is LONG. I'm sorry. And I want to start with it seems like s8 is polarizing, but I rather liked it, and I think it's because I live in the (delusion?) truth of this theory. Stay with me if you want to Believe too. I think Season 8 was written with two possible outcomes in mind; and with an endgame Destiel being the more likely of the two that the writers anticipated. Sounds insane, I am aware. You will need to stick with me here and extend some trust, but I promise I can show my work.

We need to set the scene: It's 2012. We are launching headfirst into the height years of tumblr fan culture. Gangnam Style grips the nation. Destiel is huge in fanfiction & tumblr land. However, interestingly, we're about two years past show's peak. Already once SPN was slated to end with S5's natural arc conclusion, but it didn't-- it was renewed because it was making the CW money, simple as. They have pushed on into the Sera Gamble era with Seasons 6 and 7, which have their respective flashes of brilliance, but all-in-all generally struggled to find footing in the post-Apocalypse Supernatural verse that was never actually planned for. It's pretty evident that the writing and plotting isn't nearly as tight as S1-5, simply because 1-5 was all mapped out from the get go.

It's been interesting returning to the fandom after a decade, because I'm finding a lot of people now who really liked Season 7. No hate, to each their own, and maybe it was just the circles I was in at the time, but in the moment S7 wasn't received well at all. It felt like they kept inflating the "big bad" to heights that sometimes struggled to get fully fleshed out (which, to be fair, continues to be a writing problem going forward). And while watching S7 in Netflix binge-mode it doesn't feel quite so bad, at the time having a year's worth of your fave TV show where Sam and Dean are systematically and pointlessly stripped of everything that gave the show its signature personality was nothing short of torture (killing Cas, the Impala, torching Bobby's place, killing Bobby), all in the name of more man-pain. All of that punctuated with a lot of filler episodes that felt like more misses than hits, the absolutely insufferable Amy Pond plot, and dick jokes just because the writers thought it was funny.

Everyone's opinions on S6-7 aside, though, Supernatural wasn't landing financially for the CW either. Season 5 aired on Thursday nights, which is a fairly well respected time slot for established and successful shows, but with Season 6 and 7 we see a demotion to Friday night, 9 PM ET. This is basically the kiss of death for a cable TV show. You sent your shows to Friday night to die. The CW was looking to the future with newer shows and the writing was on the walls that this circus was probably wrapping up soon.

However, in true Supernatural fashion, it wouldn't fucking die. Honestly, and I can only speculate here, I imagine such a die-hard and still-growing fanbase coinciding with a huge spike in social media + ease of access to fan spaces with the surge in commonplace smart phones/laptop computers is probably what kept performing CPR on this show.

So along comes season 8. The show is being passed to Jeremy Carver and Ben Edlund as a returning writer to head up the show. Other people have discussed the Sera Gamble era in depth, but what you need to know here, basically, is that the Carver/Edlund mind are ones that a) have not shied away from queer themes and b) are a lot of those Destiel classics. We're talking Ghostfacers, The End, My Bloody Valentine, On the Head of a Pin, The Man Who Would Be King (Carver), and Free to Be You and Me, Point of No Return (Edlund). Essentially, Sera's philosophy tended to be "strip it back to just the Winchester brothers" and Carver & Edlund were generally more open to having the surrounding cast of supporting characters. And these two definitely don't shy away from Dean & Castiel's relationship.

Here is where my theory gets a little speculative: I believe this is the point where where SPN was given one last hail mary by the CW. New writers and a Wednesday night slot, you have one more chance to make this work, otherwise you're getting the axe. It was renewed pretty late, in early May of 2012 (compare to S6 being announced Feb 2010). S7 had barely scraped its renewal in late April the year prior, too.

Okay, so let's put ourselves in that position for a moment as showrunners sitting down in the Supernatural writer's room in May of 2012. There are two things that might happen: 1) you just might pull it off, and you do such a good job you pull the show from the proverbial grave or 2) you don't pull it off, and you need to make sure the show ends on a satisfying note that wraps things up neatly. And you need to write and film a season that, until you get the yes or no from the CW, can do either and both or neither, and you may need to pivot in one direction or the other pretty quickly while you're filming the back half of your season.

Enter the Destiel endgame theory, which I believe was their scenario 2. Time to introduce the exhibits from the season.

General: Flashbacks. I wish they'd explored Purgatory more too, but it would've taken up too much time if they might have to fast-track a series finale later. (Also Amelia should've been all made up in Sam's head to cope with losing Dean but again, different post. Maybe it became a time constraint to explore too much too, if they thought the show might be ending.)

The evidence:

8x01 We Need to Talk About Kevin & 8x02 - & What's Up Tiger Mommy? We get flashbacks of Dean tearing Purgatory apart to find Castiel. When he finds him, he makes it clear he's coming back to Earth with him.

8x03 - Heartache- This episode focuses on the love between an immortal being and a human.

8x05 - Blood Brother - Benny/Queer Dean discourse deserves its own post. You can take or leave this one for this post's theory.

8x07 - A Little Slice of Kevin - 1) Dean is clearly hiding a boner when Cas gets out of the shower? 2) We introduce that Dean is deeply upset that Castiel didn't make it through the portal-- to the degree he's faked an entire memory because he'd rather it be his fault Cas is gone than have been abandoned by him

8x08 - Hunteri Heroici - Castiel wants to join Dean as a hunter; we're beginning to establish Castiel's genuine desire to spend his life with the Winchesters. This is then juxtaposed when Naomi forces him to stay away at the end of the episode, further telling us this is Cas' desire vs. Heaven's.

8x11 - Larp and the Real Girl - This is mostly a fun episode, but it's an example of queerness being gently nudged to the forefront of plots without immediate dismissal or being the butt of a joke-- rare for SPN at the time.

8x13 - Everybody Hates Hitler - Ah, the Aaron "He was my Gay Thing" moment. Dean leans all the way into the flirting. Does not give the "don't swing that way" speech, gets flustered, is at a loss for words. He appears disappointed later when he was wrong. This has little precedent on the show when Dean's been perceived as gay, he usually dismisses it very quickly.

February 11, 2013: Supernatural is renewed for season 9, a week after Everybody Hates Hitler airs.

Per these estimates, 8x18 is the next episode to be filmed post-announcement, beginning 2/12.

8x16 - Remember the Titans - A Forbidden Love plot. You can take or leave this one for this theory.

8x17 - Goodbye Stranger - OK, here is our inflection point for editing, in my opinion. The last month of eps, more or less, have been pretty trials-centric or one-off. This episode airs 3/20/2013. At this point, we know we're getting a season 9, but we've been building with all of the above, and this ep was filmed pre-S9 announcement... so much so that we have an "I love you" in the original script for the infamous crypt scene. I fully believe it was filmed and edited out in post.

Second, Castiel turns the walls of Naomi's office/lobotomy lounge the bi pride colors during the crypt scene. Someone on the crew at Supernatural literally tweeted that morning to be on the lookout for special choices in Naomi's office. It was very intentional. Why else pick these colors and declare they're intentional? (I have searched up and down for this tweet but it was rare i was there i remember it [the tweet] all too well please trust me)

UPDATE: Tumblr hive mind found it and it was Jerry Wanek saying they were… crosses? In the intersecting lines in the windows? (that's how lines work? lol) And it was amidst a spell of saying fans were reaching in their analyses, and though some of his replies have that tinge, it's not direct about the color commentary. I never saw the back half of that saga or forgot about it, didn’t mean to misrepresent anything! Either way I’ve been corrected but that office is still bisexual and you can’t tell me otherwise

And don't get me started on the "unicorn" stuff, that one person you'd throw everything away for (but I understand this can be interpreted in many ways) However, the season is renewed, we've picked the path they never thought they'd actually pull off-- now we've got to backpedal this Destiel just enough to not impact our precious CW bottom lines, but not piss off our faction of fangirls who watch to ship.

8x20 - Pac Man Fever - Charlie tells Dean she thinks Castiel seems "dreamy". Charlie is very gay and would only say this to elicit a reaction from Dean, we don't really get much of one. Again, lack of a "speech" on his sexuality.

*Note 8x18 Freaks & Geeks and 8x20 Pac Man Fever are filler eps, I think they could've been pulled if we needed the extra time to sprint toward a series finale*

8x21 - The Great Escapist - 8x23 Sacrifice- We hit a real fast escalation toward the season finale from here. I actually think this overarching plot was more or less always the idea for the ending, but how exactly it was executed depended on the renewal status.

The Alternate Series Finale Ending (That I believe they thought they'd have to do when they wrote it): If they hadn't gotten renewed, we are set up for Sam to close the gates of Hell and Metatron to use a spell to close Heaven using the heart of a nephilim (product of human + angel love), the bow a cupid (an angel that arranges love in humans), and the grace of an angel in love with a human. Hell and Heaven shutter up, Sam dies, and Dean is left with a human Castiel who has, for the better part of the season, already been "testing out" being a hunter alongside Dean and has literally moved heaven and earth to have this. He will not have to be the immortal doomed to love a human, as in 8x03, or have the forbidden love of 8x16; we receive resolution on those subjects for our heroes that the monster-of-the-week characters did not. They resolve their feelings for each other, because if we kept Dean's crypt "I love you" and we establish Castiel's grace was in love with a human... well, what else is there to say? (Oh, yes, and they did exactly this and pulled the Destiel trigger in S15 when it was all ending.)

The Actual Ending (That I think they got surprised about the renewal and had to do): Backpedal. Edit. Only drop little subtext again. We just need Castiel's Regular Grace TM for this spell. We can keep selling merch and con tickets and get views if we appeal to the widest audience possible, and we're not taking risks now that we've performed a literal miracle rescue from a Friday night 9 PM slot.

And once we start Season 9, we get a LOT of being hit over the head with Castiel & Dean's Heterosexuality TM, so much so it's awkward and even out of character. (Human Cas sighing about boobs in early s9? Like please. Get real.) It's a HARD left turn, but it makes more sense if you consider it all in the context above. I just don't think they'd have gone in so hard on the bullet points I listed if they had thought Season 9 was in the bag.

TL;DR: I think we might've had Destiel in 2013, but if we had, we wouldn't have also had the rest of the seasons. Whether or not that's a good thing is up to you, but I think it was a combination of a lot of external factors, capitalism, and, well, it being 2013, sadly. I think they were cowards about it, but at the same time, even the writers probably weren't pulling every string, they also needed to answer to other agendas. Television is a medium that is rife with the push and pulls of a thousand factors that aren't the pure story. Idk how to really wrap this, but this has been over ten years in the making so enjoy the fruits of my brain rot.

Unfortunately, the universe didn't listen and despite even Amy and Sonic finally officially getting together for real this time, Sticks ended up pregnant. Amy originally panics, but Sticks is 100% convinced she's got this, and so voila the two of them (plus Sonic, technically) become parents !!!

Teri herself is a very feral and chaotic kiddo– but only if you know her. If you don't, she's actually very silent and awkward. She's a master of the autism stare, which causes quite a bit of social isolation– not helped by her selective mutism, and Sticks' own reputation. However, she'd sooner bite her classmates than trash talk her mama, and with a crazy family like hers she doesn't need anyone else. With Sonic's encouragement though she joins the baseball team, which she's actually pretty great at! And as a bonus, she now has a weapon for when Eggman attacks the village, nice 😎👍 She's also a super fiercely protective and supportive big sister, and if anyone so much as looks at Tempest wrong, Teri is gonna wanna fight em. Family means everything to this girl, and there's absolutely no limit to how far she would go to protect and fight for those she loves.

During Sticks' pregnancy, Amy found herself struggling with jealousy and gender envy at the thought of being a mom, which she hid from Sticks but would vent to Sonic about a lot (even though he didn't get it in the slightest, hating every part of having a uterus). In turn, Sonic told Tails, and immediately the fox started working on a bottom/organ transplant surgery that would allow Amy to fulfill her dream, and while it took roughly two years, he did it! And Amy was overjoyed! Unfortunately, it wasn't very easy on her, since things were very shaky and some quirks were being worked out–but nevertheless Tempest is born (albeit four weeks premature). Her hypertonia is a direct side effect of her premature status, which hits Sonic and Amy pretty hard at first (Amy blaming herself and Sonic doubting he can really be a dad if he can't pass on his running skills), but they learn to grow and accept Tempest for who she is and don't try to fix her, only help her not be in pain.

In terms of personality, Tempest has all the sass and spunk her name demands, learning only from the best. She's well liked around the island and at school, but she's not popular by any means and has a tendency to be left out and sometimes even bullied on occasion (which is usually dealt with by Teri). She's very close to her big sister though, and admires her almost as much as she admires Sonic, feeling a sense of security knowing they'll always be around to protect her when she ends up running her mouth. She's not even a little bit scared of Eggman and can't even take him seriously with how much she trusts her dad and the rest of them to take care of him. Metal Sonic and Shadow... not so much. But even then, she's pretty good at faking it til she makes it back home 👍

Howdy there lovelies, sorry it took me fucking forever to drop this, I've been distracted with Amy and Sitri (which I still need to finish out the last parts of that lmao) But, alas here we go with seeing how things play out with this bratty, brother-complex angel being sold at an auction... To view the prologue parts for the card I already went over HERE YA GO <3

If you've already saw all of that, I'm jumping right in. Same format as Raphael's Summary. As a reminder since the angels are paid banner only per PB's warning I am only allowed to really just paraphrase and heavily summarize his card story instead of the usual reacts I do.

Enough of the boring yapfest let's go lol

Second, I would like to let the public know Michael was my fave at first due to aesthetics only. The pretty black hair, the one wing on the side of his head, but goodness doesn't he have some demons in him. (I want this to be a joke and a literal thing because..)

We lead in with Michael being pissed off that he's having his body shown, and everyone is infauted with his skin describing it as porcelian white. So marks show up very easily.

I like the continued theme that every seraph does not show their body to anyone but God.

The bid was high, like 55 million. Makes sense Tarataros is rollin' in dough.

Some important things to note for Michael's card is that unlike his brother Raphael, he made a lot of expressions each time he was touched.

Instead of cursing and vocally trying to say anything, his body is simply reacting as he's thinking about how he shouldn't be showing ANYONE this and that MC needed to be stopped.

We still have the elements of "non-consent" but it seems it's different with Michael. He's wordlessly threatening everyone's demise but he doesn't put up as much of a fight.

I'm sorry ya'll, this card story wasn't really worth the money for Michael fans. It falls short in terms of what's done to him, he kinda just sat there for the majority of it until his cock was touched, and he just kinda poofs back home without confirming any feelings whether negative or positive towards MC like how we see in Raphael's card.

However, I did like the elements of Michael being able to withstand being touched and stayed still for the most part. This has me believe something that I will explain in my theories below. Also in adore mode you can play with his tiny head wing, like pulling on it and such. Wings are sensitive I imagine so it's a fun element.

THEORY TIME

I want to say that I think Michael didn't put up much of a fight because to him any other part of his body being touched, though it hasn't been touched by anyone before...is not that big of a deal to him and perhaps he's had these feelings faintly but just didn't push himself to explore that any further.

Now also, we note that his chastity belt was not removed by MC. I feel that the reason this did not happen is because Michael has 0 feelings for MC and thus the miracle didn't extend to that possibility. Now to compare with Rara's card...maybe during the event he started feeling things for MC, curiosity, and some kind of need for them, in that moment perhaps he felt as if this is what God wanted for him so he gave in 110%.

Michael resisted feeling that way for MC, because he simply did not want those feelings. He just wanted to experience being in pleasure only. Because perhaps...those feelings are deep for "someone else" that keeps getting implied ._. But anyways. That's more for those who ship that to go about, I personally do not lol (brother complex is brother complex)

I also think that perhaps the relationship between MC and Rara is meant to build more than the other two seraph angels. I'll just have to see Gabe's card and see what we're working with. I do not have a prologue for him because he was in the Nightmare Pass only last time....I wonder how they will pan out his story and what differences I will notice.

I cannot express into a fully comprehensive english sentence how much I love this movie. Instead of their being a shaun i think id like Brian to just go to MH crew, if ykwim. I did this cause the only other character i thought could fit Brian was Alex!EMH and I didnt like that.

My take on Masky is that hes just a more aware Tim, not a separate being (tho i do like to think of it that way for fun sometimes ha ha). Masky in my mind was in a battle against the operators control and was ultimately trying to help Jay. I think Masky would br Habit in this series cause of the theory that Habit is one of the first few iterations of Evan, thats why theyre similar and so compatible etc if you know the theory you know. That does mean that Tim isnt gonna act all ha ity, just more erratic i think, i havent gone tooooooo far into a characterization(or even a name) for Emh!MH Habit yet

I think the rest of the correspondences make sense if you think about it a bit. Jay as Vinnie makes sense to me because of boths compulsive need for answers even though its destructive to those around them. I also thought they fit cause they both do that weird thing where they constatly have to document everything.

(non-massacre) Itachi

He does NOT want to teach his alpha any self-defence moves. At all. If his alpha wants to learn to protect themselves, he recommends a formal class.

Itachi doesn't want shinobi training in his life anymore. He makes a small exception for teaching Sasuke on occasion, but he puts his foot down with his alpha.

He wants everything in their relationship to be gentle.

There is also a certain amount of wilful ignorance from a retired Itachi. He doesn't want to think about violence anymore, so he subconsciously refuses to consider his alpha needing to defend themselves. He should probably know better, but it's a defence mechanism, I think.

Neji

He would be open to it if he wasn't too busy, but I doubt he would bring it up unless his alpha did first. He would consider it a favour he was doing, not something he enjoyed doing.

Neji certainly gains patience as he grows older, but he's still a ruthless teacher, so perhaps his alpha will regret asking XD

If his child is around and younger at this point though, he refuses to do it where they might see, because he doesn't want them to misunderstand why oma and appa are fighting.

Haku

Haku is a realist, that leans pessimist. No matter how dreamy and peaceful his life becomes, he will never forget how fragile it is. He enjoys every moment but there's something in the back of his head always telling him that he could lose it all.

So he never lets his skills become too dull, and he wants his alpha to be as prepared as they can be too. Even if that is only basic self defence and water walking, it makes him feel a lot better about it.

He also enjoys training together, or him teaching them, as nice bonding quality time.

So yes, Haku would definitely teach his alpha some self-defence!

Hi Gina, lately I’ve been thinking about how I first joined the fandom and my origins as a larrie, and I wanted to share it:

I joined the fandom at the end of 2014 (I was like 13/14), right when the rumors about a possible split were going around because of Zayn missing some public appearances with 1D. I don’t remember the exact moment my interest started, but I do remember following a bunch of UAs and fan accounts on tw. During that time, I didn’t really pay attention to what the media said about the boys. I just didn’t care. My main source of info was always content directly from them:interviews, youtube videos titled “1D funniest moments,” and of course, I followed every one of their concerts through tw. And I think that’s the main reason why larry seemed so obvious to me. Like, my perception wasn’t “influenced” by outside noise—I was just watching them in settings where they had a bit more freedom. From the beginning, it was super clear to me that they were together. I remember it actually took a while before I even did any real research because it just felt so obvious that I didn’t need further confirmation.

Later on, when I wanted to dig deeper (especially around the time BBG started and the hiatus was announced), I created a tumblr blog and the first blogs I followed were Amy’s (lesbianlouis) and Lorna’s. I know Lorna’s not around anymore, and I’m not sure if Amy is still here or if her views on the boys have changed. But both of them were such great sources of information and helped me understand more of the complex situation with H and L. That’s when I started understanding what it means to be closeted and learning just how awful the music industry is. I also started to notice how the version of H and L I knew didn’t line up at all with how the general public saw them. It was kinda shocking. And of course, fimq’s videos helped me navigate all of that too. I’ll always be thankful to them.

Continuing with the story, after 1D ended and their solo careers started, I was in and out of the fandom. I wish I’d been more consistent and had followed them through all of it, but stuff happened. Then, I basically left completely when the whole dwd promo started (like from the first official appearance of ow). And apparently, I wasn’t the only one who left around that time 😅.

Fast forward to the end of 2024, I came back when Liam passed. At first, it was all nostalgia. Then I started catching up. I was surprised by how much info and how many resources there are now. And obviously, that content comes from all over the fandom: larries, ex-Larries, solos, etc.—and some people write their arguments so well that if you didn’t have context, you’d totally believe them.

Things are definitely different now. One thing that surprised me was that when I first came back, I struggled a bit to reconnect with Harry, because his public image seems really polished. But then I started listening to his songs again, opened myself up to different interpretations of his art, listened to him speak, the symbolism he uses, watched him on stage… and after all that, I reconnected with him—just in a different and more meaningful way than before. Like, on the surface you might think “he’s gotten a bit full of himself” or whatever, but then you realize he’s still that quirky guy from before, just more emotionally mature. And I feel like that consistency in who he is really comes through in his songwriting and how he talks about certain things. He’s evolved for sure, but the core of who he is hasn’t changed. I don’t know if that makes sense, but that consistency in his character is really clear to me.

I know that with all the opinions and info flying around, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or start doubting everything—whether you’re new or just coming back after a long time. But my recommendation would be: before diving into opinions, take the time to watch and listen to them directly—from the 1D days until now. It’ll give you a pretty clear sense of who they are as people. And that helps you recognize all the inconsistencies in what the media says about them. For me, it’s kind of wild how H and L are the only public figures I’ve seen where there’s such a clear disconnect between their public image and who they actually are—and that says a lot.

I think that’s why for most larries who’ve been around since the 1D days, some things just are. Like, they don’t even need to be explained, because we were there when it was all way more transparent. It’s like we’ve already got this established sense of who they are, how the industry works, and the patterns in all the inconsistencies.

I will warn that this is another au that will probably never be expanded because a) I know nothing about the lives of popstars and b) I'm not creative enough to come up with pop music or a pop aesthetic for annabeth lmao. But for the purposes of this, musically Annabeth is basically Sabrina Carpenter. Her career isn't based off of Sabrina's, but that's the vibe of the music and her brand.

Their anniversary was small this year. They didn't have a lot of money left after moving out to LA. Annabeth was still recording her first album, trying to find the balance between DOA Record's uninspired vision for her (cute, country girl who can get to the real pop music later) with her own vision for her career (pop icon). From Annabeth's perspective, they were just trying to make her the second Taylor Swift, which Annabeth was sure wouldn't work. People would see right through it.

Annabeth had gotten them to see her as more than a sweet, curly haired blonde with a cover of Amy Winehouse's "F Me Pumps." She didn't dare imitate Amy's style or sound. She made the song her own, and the cover was just starting to bring in some small ... very small royalties. She needed the album to come out, to start getting some press, and maybe an opening spot on a major tour or something. Or better, a tour of her own, if the album really went viral.

"As long as you're sure," Percy said, "I'd kind of love to go out west for a while. I hear the surfing and the skateboarding is choice."

Still crying, Annabeth nodded and promised that it was.

Their tiny little apartment was far from the beach, and they shared a beat up Prius, so Percy's chances to get to the ocean were slim, since she needed the car to get to recordings. But they were making it work. Twenty-two, broke, hungry, but warm at least in the California sun, and in love still.

She'd done her best to put all of that into the song. She'd taken inspiration from Walden, and West Side Story, and A Midsummer Night's Dream - creating an artistic space for them, where everything was perfect. That place existed, the song tried to suggest, as long as they were together, that place was real for her.

"Wow," Percy said when it was over. "That was really, really beautiful. Are you going to record that?"

Annabeth shrugged. "Maybe. Maybe I'll keep it just for us," she said.

Percy leaned forward, letting the guitar stay between them as he kissed her gently. "I wouldn't mind if you recorded it," he told her. "I like the idea of people knowing that I'm yours."

Annabeth smiled. "Maybe I'll play it for the producers tomorrow," she said. "I hope they don't think it's too Folklore."

"Nah, it's all Annabeth, no Taylor," Percy promised.

The producers kept floating high publicity relationships she could enter, telling her to ditch - or at least hide - the boyfriend. Annabeth had always dug her heals in. "No way," she'd insisted. "It's not like you're married to the guy," had always been Charon's response.

They were only twenty-two. No reason to rush down the aisle. And they weren't rushing. But they did want to. At least, that's what they agreed when they were making their plan to move out here, that they'd get married soon. They'd been together since they were sixteen, best friends for even longer. Plenty of people got married in shorter amounts of time. Just maybe not so young.

Annabeth would be lying if she said she wasn't waiting for him to propose. She'd even eaten her pancakes extra slow, in case he'd hidden the ring in there.

"Do you want your present?" Percy asked.

Annabeth bounced and rested the guitar against the coffee table. "Sure do!"

She was disappointed when he handed her an obviously CD-shaped square, but she smiled anyway.

"Thanks!" Annabeth said, pulling away the wrapping paper (green red, from Christmas). Annabeth had a large collection of pop icons' albums on CD and vinyl. B'Day, Back to Black, Blackout. And those were just some of the Bs. She also had a fair bit of classic rock that Percy had given to her, or just merged his collection with hers. She wasn't sure what album he could have realized she didn't already have.

She recognized the back immediately, seeing that side before the front. It was Gaga's The Fame Monster. It was maybe her favorite album of all time. Which was to say, she had several copies of the album in various forms.

"Thanks baby," she said, trying not to feel totally let down.

Percy took her hand and flipped the album over. Scrawled across the front in gold Sharpie: Lady Gaga.

Annabeth screamed and found herself standing on the couch, before completely tackling him. "Oh my god! How did you get this?"

"Just scoured a few websites and spots in the city," Percy said with a shrug. She caught him picking at the skin around his thumb, a nervous tick of his. "There's a certificate of authenticity in it."

Annabeth popped the CD case open. There was the certificate, and the CD, but there was also a thin, silver ring. Across the top, set in the silver were a small diamond, with two blue sapphires on either side.

Annabeth stared at the ring, holding it delicately between her two fingers, waiting for an explanation, waiting for Percy to say something, or else find out that whoops ... someone had just left this behind and it wasn't --

Percy took the ring from between her fingers and slid off the couch and onto one knee.

"Will you marry me?" Percy asked. "I know the ring's not much, and we don't have a lot, but I --"

"Yes, of course," Annabeth said. "I don't need much, I wouldn't have even needed a ring. But I do like this one."

When Percy slipped it on her finger, it started to feel really real, and before she knew it, she was in tears, slipping off the couch and onto the floor where he was to hug him, kiss him, and press him back onto the dirty carpet.

It was about damn time.
