I sigh worriedly once again, because, what if TK doesn’t like this? I feel a hand on my back as I look over to see Tommy and before I can ask what’s wrong she just says, “It’ going to be great, and TK will love it.”

I feel my worry go down a little bit, but I still bite at my lip as I look around at the decorations, the food, and everybody at TK and I’s house. I am going over my mental checklist, just to make sure everything seems fine and will be fine when the birthday boy shows up. At the worried stare that I feel from the side of me, from Tommy I look over at her and say, “I don’t want to do anything wrong. This is my first surprise birthday party I set up and I want to make it special, and not have his first experience be memorable in a good way, not bad.”

Bad Call by Dekka - When the 126 is called to a mass casualty event and paramedics are spread thin, Tommy partners TK off with Marjan, Judd, and Carlos to help aid in patient care.

A safe distance by @tailoredshirt - TK is left traumatized after he risks his life to save Carlos during a mass shooting. In the aftermath, he is forced to confront the reality of their breakup and his fears of the future. aka Carlos nearly dies and TK gets by with a little help from his friends (and family)

Green Eyes, Blue Skies by @wandering-night19 - When Carlos is tasked with uncovering the dump site of a serial killer on death row his biggest concern was being apart from TK for three months. But when a prison break goes awry, his biggest concern is TK being caught in the middle.

Giving up Ground by dancer_me - [note: this is a 911 crossover, but you can skip the 911 parts (as I did) and still enjoy!] TK is back in Texas. Carlos wants to live with him, he has a close friend in Buck, and life is good. That is, until some bad weather causes road rage in Austin, and TK finds that objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.

Dost thou eat most well? by @tailoredshirt - Owen stabbed at his salad. "If you get sick later, do not come crying to me." Mateo picked up a different slice of pizza with what looked to be cut-up pieces of hot dogs. "Or maybe I'm the one that's going to be sick."—Owen and Mateo eat at Swords and Slices.

Carry You by @marjansmarwani - One moment you were searching a house with your friend, looking for a missing kid, and then the next everything went wrong. Things could turn from routine to disastrous in an instant and what side of the disaster you were on simply depended on luck and the whim of the universe. Today, it was in Mateo’s favor. The same could not be said for TK.

Leaving Pieces of Me Behind by TearsThisSideofHeaven - “He’s where?” Even over speaker phone, the incredulity in TK’s voice is obvious. - “The South Texas Detention Complex,” Carlos recites as he maneuvers his way through the tail end of rush hour traffic heading south out of Austin. - “What the fuck,” TK says, “Why.”

(Des)esperanza by TearsThisSideofHeaven - Carlos gives it a good hour or so of driving and small talk before broaching the subject of why he and Mateo are really here, taking an eight-hour road trip across west Texas on a Friday morning.

Holiday Bingo 2023

That's right besties! It's that time of year again! And in an attempt to keep y'all entertained with your favourite blorbos, I'm hosting this bingo so we can all share our creations and you have something to fixate on while I'm busy as hell at work!

As per usual:

Submissions can be anything! A mood board, a ficlet, headcanons, drabble, gif sets, one shots, social media au's, make it a mini series following the holiday journey of the same two characters! literally whatever you want!

Prompts are all winter/holiday themed. If it specifically says "Christmas" it does not need to be Christmas, it can be whatever holiday this time of year that you want!

Prompts can be made into any genre, make it super spicy, make it tooth rottingly sweet, make it angsty as all hell and break our hearts, make it a wild AU, do whatever you want with them as long as they are what inspired your story. (aka "first snowfall" could be the first time character a is seeing snow, it could be the first snow of the year, it could be the characters baby's/dog's first time seeing snow. It can be cute, catching snow flakes on tongues or sad, bringing back memories with a friend who has passed. Literally whatever you want.) Just make sure to include any and all appropriate warnings/tags at the TOP of the post and I don't want to see any TikTok censoring of words!

Not one that's been posted. I've co-written with a IRL friend, but we've never really actually finished anything.

Do not make me pick a favorite child. I've been around fandom too long to pick one, or even five (or ten).

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

There's the kid-fic that I want to finish, but cannot find the right hook.

What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue. Apparently (mysteriously) heist plots. Emotional descriptives.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Any scene that involves more than two people. Maybe I can manage three people at the outside. More than that and I lose track of the choreography, and I keep forgetting which people have arrived and which have left.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

If it's appropriate - like Carlos (and his family) think in/speak Spanish, so having them use that make sense. That being said, I do not speak Spanish, so finding colloquialisms and making them feel organic can be hard.

First fandom you wrote in?

Published? Lonestar

Unpublished? There's an unholy Smallville story that will never see the light of day. And, a Merlin fic that I co-wrote and falls apart about halfway through.

Favorite fic you've written?

Stealing Nina's idea and doing one in each of my main fandoms I've written in because it's hard to pick (even then this was rough).

Oh, don't make me pick. Okay. I love Knave2, I think it's the best thing I've written. But, I love some of the early fic I wrote that are less plot based and more almost character studies, like stitched with it's color and through sames of am through haves of give

Yeah, I love getting comments, it literally makes my day so I always take the time to respond. Though I sometimes struggle with what to say so I might respond slowly but that's because I overthink everything 😂

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oh, it's either I ain't proud of all the punches that I've thrown (826 T) in which Eddie's in Jail and he almost calls Buck (Coda for episode s03e05 Rage) OR Under the Guise of Violence (3k E) Eddie can't touch Buck unless it's to hurt him, after a sparring match Buck confronts him and it leads them back to Eddie's bedroom- I had a lot of people comment about the angsty ending 😂

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I'm kinda a sucker for happy endings, this might be cheating as it's not finished yet but when it is Alright, Cowboy, Go Get 'Em (17k E) is probably going to have the happiest ending.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've had someone comment some criticism which I didn't think much of at the time because what they pointed out was something I was unhappy with myself and it did actually help me fix it but I realise now after talking to my friend who got me in to fic writing that that wasn't cool since I hadn't actually asked for any feedback.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Oh yeah, mostly just smut with a few kinks thrown in, playing around with light sub/dom stuff. I definitely want to write some more hardcore stuff in the future.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I haven't, I'm not opposed, since I only write Buddie atm it probably would be a Lonestar cross over, maybe Tarlos? But I have so many WIPs that it will be very far in the future.

Nope, that would be pretty dope!

No, I would love to try one day.

totally love it unless it’s like a LOT. i can translate it easily and even if it’s not a perfect translation it’s fine bc i can usually get the gist of it, but when it’s like a ton of dialogue in a long convo i get annoyed

A Sarah Dessen book way back when. Didn’t even realize it was fandom writing at the time. My grandmother still has that notebook with the full story, calls it my first book. If only she knew.

Why Do You Think I Ran - TK & Carlos have a vulnerable conversation about the beginning of their relationship the night after Owen calls with his Huntingtons results.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Yes! Always!! First, because I am so appreciative that anybody takes the time to read my stuff. But I know it’s only like one in every few hundred reader that bothers to leave a comment so why wouldn’t I return that energy with a response?

Second, I am first and foremost a reader. I put a lot of energy into writing thoughtful comments. So I know how nice it is to get a reply!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don’t know if it’s angsty, per say, but maybe All Your Colors Make Me Feel Alive because they’re discussing the ways they’re grieving and remembering their lost parents.

They’re all happy endings, generally. But maybe Call Me If You Get Lost because they’re in a hot tub and they’re bouts to get it on *sings Marvin Gaye*

I love incorporating Spanish as much as I can. If I’m not 100% sure I’ll have a friend who is fluent read it.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

This is a tie!

Call Me If You Get Lost This one got a pretty low engagement, which was really disappointing for me because I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever written. It’s a whole, complete story with a beginning, a climax and and end. Its funny and heartfelt, and I think the characterizations are really well done. Basically Nancy tells TK she’s going on a romantic weekend by herself, it was a trip she’d booked at an estate in Hill Country with her ex for their anniversary before they broke up. TK is worried she’s having a crisis and forces Carlos to go to the estate so they can “be there for her,” but instead they catch Nancy in an awkward position with Mateo.

TK Strand’s Sweet 16 (times 2) (minus 2) this one was so much fun to write! It’s funny and sweet, there’s a lot of side plots going on with different characters. It not only shows us TK through Carlos’s eyes, and how much Carlos loves him and is completely in awe of him, but how TK gently cares for Carlos and has cemented his place in the Reyes family and helped hold them together through this loss. Also it’s the introduction of my Tía Lucy. The response to this one was really really lovely 💕

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Probably this one The Babysitter, which is part of my Lizard Chronicles series.

No, and I don't think I ever would as I don't think I could do it justice

I haven't written any, however I do have this this idea for a Twilight/Lonestar Cross over that I want to do at some point

I did way back when I was a teenager it was for a Starkid fanfic,

Tarlos or I use to love Robin/Regina from Once Upon a TIme

I have a coffee shop AU half planned out. I keep going to write and never start.

Grammer and use of tense, I struggle with.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I would stuggle to, the dyslexic in me would avoid and worry about getting it horribly wrong.

You’re too kind 💖 I love that you fell into LS fandom because I kept reblogging Tarlos gifs and fic! I’m not creating anything though - we’re all here in our various fandoms because someone else influenced us to give a show or a book a chance.

I started watching Schitt’s Creek because a friend was tweeting about it. I started writing fic because fandom friends encouraged me to just try. I read Red White & Royal Blue because a SC pal kept saying she thought I’d love it. Another friend encouraged me to start writing firstprince fic. I started watching Lonestar because RWRB friends told me about it and wrote fic inspired by it, and because SC mutuals were flooding my dash with Tarlos content and all of those people must have good taste because we already loved some of the same things. I started writing Tarlos fic because friends and mutuals gently nudged me towards it.

It makes me so happy when I see notifications from people I associate with one fandom liking and reblogging posts, or leaving kudos and comments on fic, from another.

This is what I love about fandom - sharing these characters and stories we love with each other and and watching other people fall for those characters too. 💖

Long Story Short (5 Ways Carlos's Family Could Have Met TK + 1 he met TK's)

Always Wear Your Invisible Crown (high school reunion fic - also one of the only stories I've ever written from TK's POV)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I love comments, and I try hard to respond to all of them.

I don't think I've written anything with an ambiguous ending, or an angsty ending. Although @wtfuckevenknows says the end of Knave 3 made her cry (it has a happy ending, I promise. But, apparently it's happy with a side of emotion?)

Yes. It took a while, but I got there.

I haven't ever written a crossover! I do kind of want to do a 911/Lonestar crossover, but that is just so many characters.

Not a posted one. I have co-written with a friend before for The Old Guard, but we never actually finished and posted it.

Nope, nope, nope. I have been around waaaay too long to pick a favorite. I can give you a historical selection.

a bunch of them. I do tend to cannibalize though, and bits of abandoned fics end up in other places.

dialogue? descriptions of internal emotional processing (?) someone else tell me.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I'm going to say plot, and you are all going to laugh at me after 150K of Knave-verse. But, honestly, plot.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I've included words here and there of Spanish, but it's not one of my languages so I'm always hesitant to try and be colloquial.

Knave 2 (The Knave of Hearts . . . he said he'd steal no more). I think that's easily the best thing I've ever written.

I know you're into buddie, bucktommy, and roy/jamie but are you into Tarlos from 911 Lone Star? And if so...would you be into buddie/tarlos as a polycule or other pairings within the the 4 (or even with tommy)?

i've only watched like. season one and through the crossover ep in season 2 of lonestar, but tk/carlos was one of the things i actively enjoyed that keeps making me want to go back and watch more. it was just the show itself i wasn't super into. i liked the characters and the relationships but there was too much rob lowe and something in the writing that just didn't hit the same way as og 911 for me. i absolutely love reading fics where tk and buck are friends though because it just makes sense for me. other than that, i don't think i know enough about lonestar to form any opinions!
