Hogwarts Uniforms in my imagination!

Thoughts:

- I sincerely feel Robbed by the uniforms in the movies!! I absolutely delight in the descriptions in the books of confused magical people trying to dress like muggles, and if they struggle to dress like muggles, they are definitely not just…wearing ordinary clothes every day at school?!?

- I once saw a post on here about how Lucius Malloy’s costume was designed and apparently he was BARELY saved from being put in a SUIT. I am having a stroke thinking about such an abomination.

- These uniforms are also unisex!! All magical people wear beautiful dresses!

- There are just black robes on the Hogwarts shopping list. It could be that everyone just wears their own clothes under the robes, or all they wear is the one layer of robe…I reject both ideas and propose that they all find lovely house-specific clothes to go under the robe on their first morning at Hogwarts and that is what they wear from then on. Of course there are issues with this because we have evidence there is major variation in quality of clothes among the student body, e.g. from Snape’s worst memory and other scenes I don’t care as much about, but I am interested in thinking up interesting robe ideas and less in being limited by the already inconsistent canon, so that is all. : )

I think I shall do a lot more wizard clothing design because I have been thinking a lot about it lately so please send thoughts if you have them!! I am very interested in this topic! It is like studying historical dress but you get to make everything up lol

About: Three years ago Maëlys caught the eye of Roman, the soon-to-be Vampire King of New Orleans. The two instantly began a passionate affair while amassing power in the city. As years pass, and the glamour wears off, she is forced to re-evaluate her role in what Roman has made of the city she loves. Her conflict worsens with the arrival of a mysterious werewolf.

It’s giving Nola, hybrids, vampires, witches, secrets, romantic angst and importantly, werewolves!!!

Behind the scenes: I wrote this as a short story many years ago and never shared it with the public until now. Aside from my undying love of supernatural creatures and angsty relationships ( in fic not in real life, in real life give me passionate but healthy thank you) at the time I wrote this, I was thinking alot about the whole “be careful what you wish for” thing. Like, what if this person gets the very thing she wants and starts to realize maybe she doesn’t want it. Like a whole dancing with and making a deal with the Devil thing.
