while Peter Parker was blipped, Tony Stark regularly had dreams in which he spoke to Peter, in a dark void, typically with Stark pleading for Peter’s return and Peter insisting he’s right there. Which, wasn’t unusual. Tony’s therapist said it’s a sign of grief.

But now, after the passing of Tony Stark, Peter Parker is describing similar dreams in therapy sessions. Dreams in which he pleads with Stark to return, and Stark asks Parker to “find him”.

And Peter says that the dreams are very similar to “hallucinations” he had while “passed out” (blipped) in which he spoke with Tony Stark.

Post-Endgame Irondad fic in which Peter and a therapist, together, realize there’s a possibility that Tony Stark is alive, and the only reason they can discover this is because the pair are able to communicate in dreams.

It could have been, if not interesting, at least non-insulting by having a Champions tie-in to this latest X-M*n failure, with the powered Champions getting targeted for having powers (for the third fucking time) despite not being mutants and getting involved in anti-bigotry activism...

But No! Instead:

Ms. Marvel gets killed in a mediocre P*ter P*rker comic she was barely in and is replaced with a bootlicking X-M*n prop who's: immediately throwing away her entire life to push their stupid little ethnostate that she's almost never interacted with; needing a White Blonde Blue-Eyed Girlboss Supreme to explain how discrimination works to her, a clearly oh-so-privileged brown Pakistani-American Muslim girl; and breaking the established rules of the universe that mutants die when subjected to Terrigen Mist.

Tony Stark gets relegated into a side character in his own damn comic, thereby trashing the interesting plotlines with the weapons he was trying to neutralize and Riri Williams with the Ten Rings, who was subjected to off-panel magic corruption again.

Spider-Man got replaced by N*ghtcrawler for a while? I didn't give enough of a shit to care while it was happening and I'm not going to start now.

And all of it because the X-M*n's immortal ethnostate project failed so spectacularly that an extremist group, staffed by the most cartoonishly evil bigots, took over the world, or at least the US or something, and chased the X-M*n off of the planet. Spending your time colonizing outer space and enforcing your white-US-capitalist designs on the rest of humanity worked out well, it doesn't seem! Might as well start calling them the L-M*n with all the big fat Ls they've been taking!

I miss when the X-M*n were cordoned off into their own, halfwitted corner of the Marvel universe, where their taint wasn't being spread on characters I actually like.

But No.

Ms. Marvel's dead and the Champions probably went with her. The Ironheart plotline I was interested in was thrown away in favor of fucking E*ma Fr*st. Nova and Viv have barely shown up outside of that trash "Ms. Marvel's Dead and We're Sad!" one-shot. Spider-Man got fucked over and the worse, mediocre Spider-Man, like, stole Kamala's corpse or some shit? And I'm never going to not be pissed about all this.

What made you ship it?

irondad was definitely the gateway for me heheheheh. tbh when antis tag or caption things like 'do not tag as st*rker' all that does is make me wanna check out the starker tag myself lmaoooo, so i did~

even tho it's not my first 'problematic' ship, after months of obsessively reading fluffy af platonic/familial field trips fics, dipping into starker was like:

and then lmao i read ride to church anon fics with all that delicious tension and situational conflict and slid right into:

in addition to very quickly acquiring a taste for it, when posting ficlets and gifsets i started throwing both starker and irondad tags on things just to broaden the audience it would reach and the starker community was very warm and welcoming! then i had a couple brushes with anon anti[s?] with a comment on a fic whining about the dual tag [on a platonic, g-rated piece that could be interpreted either way] and then my first actual starker fic [which was barely even racy, little more than some tension lmao] i cross posted here and the post got flagged and taken down within 24 hrs, i assume because someone reported it. so anyway idk man shit like that just drives one away from the community with unpleasant ppl in it and more toward the welcoming one? i made a starker side blog and never looked back UuU

What are your favorite things about the ship?

they foil wonderfully as characters. they think terribly alike, both taking on this heavy guilt over their own perceived failures. same humor and wit, same intellect/self made tech, same losses in life [on the same damn day i kid you not; dec 16, starks dead, may dead [nwh 'out' on 17th but could actually see it the 16th in theaters]]. shared colors. but one rich, one poor. one in the public eye, one masked. one older, experienced and worn down, one young, vibrant and earnest. even their kit is juxtaposed interestingly: tony's repulsors push stuff and peter's webs pull stuff. and they both care so damn much.

tony the futurist sees the future thriving in this kid's hands. peter looks up to him like none other. they see the best in each other and the worst in themselves. mix in the traumas [how hard it is for tony to trust ppl and how he trusts peter with more of his tech than anyone] and then the shared traumas, and the devotion of going to and beyond the damn ends of the earth for each other. how peter's sunshine heart can pull tony toward being better and tony pushes peter to be as good as he possibly can be. and with all the very good reasons they shouldn't get together, it's just so fucking good when they can't help but want to.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

hmm i really can't think of any so, nope. some tropes i enjoy more than others but whatever fits for the context of the fanwork yknow, i'll entertain just about any take.

ngl i fucking hate talking about peter parker at all these days because i am usually talking about comics peter parker, who has only been in high school for like thirty issues out of an 800 comic run?? compared to any fucking spider man movie in media (besides spiderverse) where he's once again placed in high school. i have peter ships from the comics that i can't post about because then y'all will be like "peter's a high schooler!" baby no the fuck he is not. mcu peter parker is the least accurate version of peter in the media i have EVER seen in my life.

and this doesn't have anything to do with the post but fuck tony stark. because. you know. on basis of talking about mcu peter, i have to talk about how much they screwed the pooch by not having him punch tony stark in the face like in the comics.

In Regards to Fundamentally Ruining Ms. Marvel as a Character

I assume all of this has been said before by people better qualified to speak on these matters, but my anger over the recent... developments with Ms. Marvel has burnt out, leaving me just... sad and so very, very tired.

So these are just my few cents on the matter, before cutting most, if not all, Marvel content from my life.

Even beyond the grossly humiliating manner in which she was killed in a rather mediocre P*ter P*rker comic she shouldn't have been part of in the first place (regardless of how little she was actually present), this "N*w Mutant" she's been replaced with has so many glaring issues.

The Ms. Marvel that I loved, that I've experienced grow over years of character development wouldn't have suddenly reverted to a feckless fangirl, desperate for validation from adults that she doesn't know nor has interacted with. She's more naive than ever, even; the idea that a brown Pakistani-American Muslim girl needs to be lectured about how discrimination works by E*ma Fr*st (a White Blonde Girlboss Supreme, Race Supremacist, and Prior Terrorist) is not only laughable, but downright insidious and disgusting.

The character that I loved would never have discarded her family, friends, and team as easily as this mutant replacement did. Her statement that she didn't expect former-mentor Iron Man or supposedly-current-friend-and-teammate Nova (Sam Alexander) to come to her aid since she's "playing for the other team now" was deeply insulting. Her decision to reveal her identity to the world as an impossible "Inhu-mutant" was a shockingly naive and downright stupid idea that someone who has so zealously guarded her secret identity would never suggest, especially at a time when "anti-mutant hysteria" is at its peak; when it would so immediately bring harm to the people that she loved.

But that is a fundamental problem with the X-M*n and mutants as a whole: there is no room in the Marvel universe for them to exist without pushing them as a ludicrous allegory for discrimination. They can only exist as a mutant; only for the X-M*n's failing culture wars. Ms. Marvel especially struggles to fit into the X-M*n framework of discarding everything personal to push the X-M*n's ideology; where massive swathes of X-M*n simply lack any meaningful ties to the human world, Ms. Marvel has family and friends that accept and love her; family and friends that she wouldn't simply discard to deepthroat X-M*n boot.

Ms. Marvel was one of my favorite characters. I loved seeing her perspective on the world as a Pakistani-American Muslim. I loved her interacting with a wide variety of people, leading her team of individual heroes and friends. I loved that she and her Champions wanted to make the world a better place for all.

But that's a thing of the past now. The new, mutantier Ms. Marvel only cares about the X-M*n; about the X-M*n's stupid, segregationist ethnonation. She has abandoned her family and friends that I enjoyed seeing her interact with to desperately seek the validation of people she's never had a conversation with. Her values that led her to make her own team to fight to make the world a better place for all have been discarded for X-M*n ethnonationalism.

Ms. Marvel's dead. She died ignominiously, begging for validation from P*ter P*rker, only to be replaced by a bootlicking X-M*n prop that has fundamentally ruined everything that I loved about the character.

Also: The potential of an Ironheart story wherein she has a debut as a Magitech Hero was immense and something that I was looking forward to, as well. As you might imagine, I am also enraged that it was thrown away off-panel in favor of having the Iron Man comic be usurped by some witless X-M*n swill, but the ruination of Ms. Marvel is a higher priority.
