13. Who’s the bigger tease? 

Dedra. Whether she does it deliberately (1% of the time) or without realising it (99% of the time) she gets Syril worked up every time. She’ll snap at him, deny him, insult him and give every conceivable impression she thinks he’s the scum of the galaxy and he’ll still be a drooling mess for her. She threatened to lock him in a cage and banish him to the far corner of the galaxy and he smiled. Because she paid attention to him. She thought he was worthy of her time and effort and that’s just…he had to lie down and recover from the bliss of being threatened by a powerful ISB agent after he’d stalked her. 

Fast forward 25 years into their relationship, and Dedra is still baffled that Syril gets hot and flustered when all she has to do is raise an eyebrow at him. Or put the tip of her gloved finger on his chin and tip his head back. Or growl at him. Don’t get her wrong, she loves having such power and control over him, she doesn’t want that to change, but she can’t see the logic and utility in it. But she’s put up with him for a quarter of a century and will be with him until she dies, so it’s best not to waste any more of her precious time thinking about something as unimportant as Syril Karn’s preferences. Even though she knows them all. And updates a mental list she keeps of them. And sometimes indulges him in one on what he considers memorable occasions, such as his birthday. And the day they met. And the day they married. She’ll also indulge him on days she considers noteworthy, such as the day they annihilated the rebels once and for all. And the day she got promoted. And the day the rebel leaders’ drawn-out public executions were broadcast to the entire galaxy. Happy days.

Whereas Syril has no power over her. If he tries to tease Dedra, he gets nowhere. He’s learnt the hard way that it’s not sexy or clever to pretend to deny her something. It’s a waste of time she doesn’t find endearing in the slightest. It’s annoying. It’s boring. In a burst of confidence, Syril once tried to tease her and draw things out when they were getting down to things in the bedroom. Dedra threw him out, locked the bedroom door, and took care of her needs herself. Syril scratched at the door like a cat locked out in the rain. He cried. He pleaded. He promised death before he’d try something like that with her ever again. Dedra thought his whining would be a turn off. She was pleased to discover she was wrong. 

59. Who tops? Who bottoms?

When they first get together, Dedra has zero experience with a partner when it comes to sex. Syril has some. But the experiences weren’t exactly mind blowing. I keep seeing their first time together with Syril taking the lead, since he does have that degree of experience. Dedra’s content to lie back and learn; to absorb the reality of an act she knows the theory behind, but has never experienced until now. And if Syril’s literally begging to be allowed to pleasure her with every part of his body, she’s not going to refuse him. She’s not cruel.

When they’ve been together for a while, and Dedra’s gained knowledge, experience, and confidence, she takes the lead and dominates. She now knows what she likes, what she wants Syril to do and for how long, and she’s going to get what she wants for as long as she wants. 

Honestly I think that except for their first time sleeping together (maybe the first few times), Dedra is the dominant force no matter what position she’s in. She’ll be straddling him and taking exactly what she wants from him, the pace, angle and duration is all up to her. Syril will last for as long as she needs him to. She could also be tied up, completely immobilised and at Syril’s mercy, and she’d still be in control. She’ll tell him exactly what to do and he’ll do it. Prevent her from speaking and she’ll control Syril’s actions with her eyes and facial expressions. Syril knows them all intimately, he reads her entire body fluently. He’s an exceptionally fast learner, and knows exactly what she likes and doesn’t like. He knows what she needs. And whatever position they’re in, whatever situation they’re in, he’s going to give her everything. His pleasure comes a distant second. He’d never forgive himself if she was left unsatisfied during time spent with him. She’d never forgive him. They’re in perfect accord. Which is why they’ve been together 25 years and are still going strong.

I don’t know where this 25 years came from, aha. Just that I see them being together forever. In a reality where The Empire reigns supreme and neither of them die or rot in jail or exile.
