Café, Rain, and Umbrella - May Flash Fiction Contest: 280-Word Romance!

It was fun to write this one. I love OLxOL Yuri and always wanted to write this kind of story, but with only 280 words, it was challenging. If I have time, I will try to record an audio, but I cannot promise it.

Café, Rain and Umbrella

We met by chance when you joined our company. You were so different, and the desk that separated us felt like a shoreless sea. Why did you never care about your appearance, fashion, and chitchat during the lunch break? Why did you never tried to fit in?

You made me angry when you sat alone, but deep inside, I admired your courage. I wished that just for once I could stop caring too, but I am a coward. I was so afraid of being alone. Even if all those people just fill the emptiness around me, I cannot imagine my world without them. It is a fair deal. We are "friends." With them, my phone and TV, I managed to push my loneliness away. And I knew they do the same… but you were different… and I hated it.

I was busy that day, too busy for lunch. I let my "friends" go without me. I just had too much to do… You came to my desk with a cup of coffee, a sandwich, and a smile. For a long time, I wondered why you did this. I never believed your "you looked hungry." Why then? You never cared about those unspoken contracts that bound people to be nice. You weren't like this… then why?

It was a rainy day. I took my courage and shared my umbrella with you. Now your daughter calls me "mom."

Sometimes I remember I scored in the 92 percentile in spelling during my Autism assessment. Other times I end up spelling "nervous" like "service" and I experience the five stage of grief in those moments.

he wants to ask whats wrong? why are you shaking? where were you?......why are you covered in bruises? but he doesnt, silently, wraps his arms around your waist. almost like its a default setting, like its an instict.

"...sorry..." you mumble into his shoulder.

"its ok, dont apologise for anything. your safe here.....with me" he spoke in a soothing voice, bringing one hand up from your waist to the back of your head, cradling it gently, as his thumb on your waist starts drawing soothing circles.

a thought came to him which made his grip on you tighten.

We were unable to do any filming these last couple of months and thought we wouldn't be able to put out an episode, but then as we were digging up body parts to put together our good friend Frankenstein, it gave us a horrifying epiphany: Why not "Frankenstein" an episode together? So, get ready, because we have sewn together an episode just for you!

Summary: Takes place a few weeks after the Battle of Hogwarts and Fred’s death. Harry notices that, no matter how much Mrs. Weasley sobs, or George locks himself in his room, or Ginny hugs her mother with silent tears streaming down her face, Mr. Weasley remains stoic. Though he expected a breakdown soon, Harry never thought that he would be the one to find Mr. Weasley breaking down in the kitchen in the middle of the night. Harry attempts to comfort him.

Summary: Harry takes his father-in-law on a trip to Muggle London. However, it proves to be a complete disaster.

Summary: Arthur had always thought of Harry as two people. Intellectually speaking, he understood that these sides of Harry were one in the same, but he had never fully been able to reconcile the two.

That is, until about a month after the final battle.

Summary: Arthur Weasley has always loved muggles, and everything about them. It's positively fascinating how they manage without magic. And so he knows everything about them. But he has long kept up the ruse that he knows hardly anything for his soon to be son-in-law.

Summary: Harry has always loved it at the Weasleys'. He doesn't say much about it, except that it's brilliant, and is quietly appreciative of everything that happens when he's there. Ron doesn't think much of it, except to kid that Harry is going to make him look bad. 

And then Harry tells him one reason why he loves being with Ron's family so much. 

As a result Ron is hard-pressed not to cause unfortunate things to happen to the Dursleys.

Summary: AU fifth year. What if, in their Occlumency lessons, Professor Snape saw some memories that Harry didn’t want anyone to see? Rated T for abuse, mild language, and mentions of non-consensual sexual contact. OOC Snape, since he’s kind to Harry, and a bit OOC Harry, he’s a lot more mature in this story than he is in the books. This fic is very sappy, and involves a lot of emotions and crying, so if you do not like those kind of fics, this won’t be your kind of story.

A character fic with less than 100 words:

alive by AutisticWriter. I don't know if they have Tumblr or what name they go by on here, but I absolutely adore this fic. It's exactly 100 words, and it's about Delacy having an autistic shutdown. It's portrayed so well and it's very emotional, I would definitely recommend.

I'll be honest, I really struggled to find an answer to the second one. It could be because I'm tired, or because I'm overthinking the concept of a "gimmick". But yeah, sorry about being unhelpful, I still hope you enjoy the other rec though! (If I'm suddenly struck with inspiration I'll reblog with a fic)

Last Book: The way I barely read books any more... the last book I tried to read before AW2 took over my life was The Dollmaker of Krakow by RM Romero. It was actually a solid thing from what I read so far! About a sentient, talking doll who came from the land of the Dolls and ended up at a toymaker's house. (It reminded me of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane so <33 )
