The Ache of Almost

Pairings: Jasper Hale x Human! reader

A/N: so, ive entered back into my Twilight era. ive been reading the books this time around and have fallen in love with Jasper unfortunately so here is some really long shitty angst i wrote about him. also, i was watching this show Northern Exposure and got the inspired by it for the whole river fiasco.

Warnings: non? implied smut though, nothing gruesome. also not proof read, sorry.

You sat, legs tucked into your chest, in front of your brightly lit computer screen. Your fingers moving furiously over the keyboard of your laptop, as your tried to distract your brain from the chatter downstairs. Your school assignment for History was long over due, sitting in a discarded pile to the right, and no matter how much you had urged yourself to do it, you just couldn't. The paper was on the civil war, a logistical over view of it and the people who played major factors, and as much as you hated to admit it this would be easier to write if Jasper was still around.

Downstairs, you could hear Edwards laugh ring out, louder then it usually did, and you sighed, finally pulling your attention away from your screen. Annoyance crawled slowly under your skin, as you heard Edward and what sounded like Charlie chatter amongst each other.

Realistically, you had no issue with Edward Cullen, no issue with any of the Cullen's actually. You couldn't find it in your heart to hold animosity towards the clan just because Bella was able to handle a life that you yourself could not.

This "matureness" in the words of Esme Cullen was what kept your heart soft, and you found that the ladder, as well as the fact that you knew Edward was here to see your sister first and foremost kept your annoyance at bay.

You tried so hard to keep the awkwardness from you and Jaspers break up from seeping into the cracks of your sister Bella and Edward's relationship, still being friendly and polite as you had always been when, and even before, you and Jasper had gotten together. But, you couldn't say the same for Edward.

You knew he was just looking out for his non-blood brother, and even if he was friendly to you just as you were with him, it seemed as if he couldn't stop himself from slipping in a few comments abouts Jaspers well doing that were suppose to evoke guilt into you. And for that very reason, for the past 3 weeks of you dumping Jasper, you went into hiding whenever Edward would come around for Bella.

There where many things wrong with you and Jaspers relationship. The most obvious being you were human and he was not. You loved it at first, the thrill of a forbidden love, and if Bella could do it, why couldn't you?

You melted in his soft touch, loved how his southern drawl pulled you in. His kisses tender and sweet as if he was scared to break you, which he was, kept you clinging for more. You loved how intimate you two could be without touch, just soft looks across a room and how your days consisted of being deep within the shadows, private and sacred.

Jasper was crazy for you, in love like never before. Your voice had him wrapped around his finger since day one, and your touch would send him on his knees begging for more. His love for you was just as strong as Edwards for Bella, he would even argue that it was stronger.

The issue was, that when you had first met Jasper he was still trying to control his urge to kill everyone around him. Though, when you two started to get closer, he was more in control then when he first met your sister. But things do not change as easily as they come, and even through out your 4 month relationship, there was a very evident reason why you and Jasper had not gone to the next level.

At first, you were okay with it. Sex was never a priority for you. You, like Jasper, shared a very old school outlook on the topic. But what you didn't enjoy, was that even with kissing, or smelling, or sudden movements, Jasper was on the other side of the room, trying to swallow his desire to bite down on your delicate skin.

He would disappear for weeks on end every month or so. He would never tell you where he was going, or when he was going, you would just wake up one morning and he would be gone. A couple days in you would hear from Bella or one of the Cullen family members that he went to "blow off some steam" but never from Jasper himself.

You use to wait around, over at his house constantly to talk with Esme or Alice, in hopes he would appear. Worried sick to your stomach that something had happened to him. Or you would send him a multitude of text messages that went unresponded, you would loiter around certain classes he had in school, and walk home extra late on some days in hopes that you would see him. Of course, you never did, and his family, as well your own, watched from the side lines in pity.

Though, he would always come back, appearing at your doorstep, or in your room later within the twilight air. He would be soft, and apologize, explain he went away to keep you safe and to protect you. He would get on his knees, literally, and hold your torso into his face, breathing in your scent as if he was addicted to it. This very ritual was the part of the reason you stayed so long, he always came back.

Though the anger and worry soon faded, as time past and his disappearing act become a common occurrence. His apologies fell on deaf ears as you shrugged him off and went on your way after he would appear out of the blue.

This was not the only thing that put a strain on your relationship. You had only lived in forks for a short time, obviously moving back here when Bella did, but you had always loved the summers that came before the move.

Unlike Bella, your summers were filled with amazing memories of swimming down at La Push and helping your dad grill up food as Billy Black and his son would come over. You would spent endless nights running and biking through town, Jacob by your side, playing make-believe through the dense forests and much more.

When you had moved over to Forks permanently, you were a bit sad at first for leaving your mother, but you knew Charlie needed this the most. Your extraverted nature did not diminish in the gloomy town, in fact day one you reunited with Jacob and went down to the Clearwater's home, where you befriended one of your now best friends, Leah Clearwater.

At first, things weren't so hostile, the two opposing sides ignored each other like they always had. But when you and Jasper had made it official, it was obvious tensions started to rise. Jasper hated all your friends, calling them names you don't even want to repeat, and vice versa. At one point it become so bad that you just stopped telling Jasper, or Leah, who you were hanging out with all together as when you did, it felt as if the insults towards the other group and lectures where never ending.

The issues with your relationship, the obvious differences between you and Jasper seemed to start pilling up. And so, you decided maybe it would be best to end it, or at least take a break. You had pulled him aside one night, when you two where at his home, after dinner. He took your actions as a flirty invitation, and pulled you upstairs, kissing your lips. But you pushed him away, and broke the news to him. You wanted to end it.

From all the ways you imagined that Jasper would react, it did not prepare you for the immense turmoil that swept over his features. The man dropped to his knees, almost as if you had stabbed him with a stake through the heart, you had never seen him cry before- and now you saw him groveling at your feet, tears glistening in his eyes. He begged, and pleaded, apologizing for things that he himself could not control. It was almost enough to make you take your words back. almost.

You cried as well, and begged him to stand up, but he refused too. You knew breaking up with him was going to be hard, but you didn't know it was going to be this terrible. You still loved him, you didn't know if you were very not going to love him, but you wanted a normal life. A normal boyfriend, a normal relationship. One where your boyfriend could stand being in the same room as you, where he didn't have to disappear for weeks on end so he didn't do anything unspeakable. You wanted a boyfriend who liked your friends, and vice versa, who you didn't only get to hang out with on rainy days. Where you didn't need to tip toe around whenever you wanted to touch him.

Staying in the shadows was nice while it lasted, but soon your heart yearned and ached to reach out for something more.

In an instant, the ache of the situation washed away, and anger replaced it. Jasper was hurt, you knew it, and you knew how unfair it was to have to leave because of things that he could not control. So, you stood there and let him take out his anger, obviously holding back immensely. you let him yell and curse, only interrupting a few times to put in your input. His accent grew stronger with every word that tumbled out of his mouth, and at one point you didn't even understand him. But when he asked you to leave his house, and to never come back, you understood that plenty.

The tears didn't stop when you left his room, still hearing his swears flying out of his mouth even when you weren't in view anymore. Retreating back downstairs, you felt a wave of shame and embarrassment wash over you as his whole family, and Bella, sat in the living room, as rigid as a rock. You knew they had heard the whole thing, there was no way they didn't-not with the level of volume that Jasper had yelled at. You swallowed hard, and wiped your face as you turned to look at everyone "I-I'm sorry, i think i have to go now...my dad-" An immense thunderous crash coming from Jaspers room interrupted your string of excuses, and only you and Bella flinched at it, every one else staying perfectly still. Esme just nodded and knowingly she smiled at you, allowing you to leave with no other explanation.

This was about 3 weeks ago, and Jasper had not tried to contact you or swarm you since, which you were surprised about actually, you did assume he was going to track your every move.

Your stomach growled for the 3rd time within the hour and you sighed, looking at the time on the bottom of your computer. The glow read 7pm, and you were starving.

You pushed your chair back and stood up, the chatter downstairs was still evident but you couldn't hide any longer, you just hoped that Edward would leave it be.

You left your room and skipped downstairs, Charlie, Edward and Bella coming into view from the bottom steps. They all looked up as you walked into the room, going straight to the kitchen of the open floor plan. "Hey guys," You said smiling, your dad nodding at you, and Bella and Edward waving.

"Are you getting food?" Charlie asked, as he rose from the reclining chair he was lounging in and walked in behind you. You just hummed, and put some food in the microwave, but before you could turn it on, Bella and Edward where already in the kitchen speaking to you.

"Actually, a few of us were going to go out for food," Edward said casually "why don't you join us? it'll be fun." You turned and eyed him and Bella warily, you did not like where this was going.

Charlie nodded at the idea to show his approval, as he maneuvered around you to put his empty beer bottle in the sink. "Who is 'a few of us'?" You asked suspiciously.

"Us, Rosalie, Emmet, jasper, Alice" Bella said, and you didn't miss how she casually said your ex- boyfriends name. You just shook your head, and looked to your food to start the microwave.

"I don't think so, thanks though" You tried to keep your voice light, but you knew Edward could hear the strain in it with his vampire powers. You're an ass Edward you though, and you knew by Edwards smirk that he could read what you were thinking.

"Are you sure," Bella said "Come on, it'll be fun." You just sighed, and didn't say anything - knowing if you did, something harsh would come out that you didn't really mean.

"I still have to work on my paper, I barley have it started" You say after a long pause, and it wasn't a lie. Charlie looked over and nodded at your words, silently telling you that he approved of you staying home for your school work.

"It's Saturday" Edward commented, in which you just gave him a look and went back to glaring at the whirling microwave.

The minute your food came out, you slipped back upstairs into your room, and went into the solitude of the 4 walls.

For the next 4 hours, you pushed as hard as you could, truly diving into your paper like never before, finally completing it. But, you stilled sighed knowing that even with all the effort you put into the paper, it was going to one of your lowly graded ones. Jasper usually helped you with your history assignments.

Looking at the time, you sighed and spun around in your chair. You doubted Bella was back, in fact you wouldn't be surprised if she spent the night with Edward.

You rose from you seat, thinking that Charlie may be still be awake, hearing the low buzz from the television from downstairs. Old house, thin walls. You can practically hear someone breathe on the other side of the house.

You quietly made your way down the hallway and half way down the stairs, crouching on the step and looking through the railings towards the living room. The room was dark, and the low blue light from the TV illuminated the figure of your sleeping dad, who was sprawled out on his reclining chair.

You sighed, and made your way fully down the stairs and into the living room, turning off the TV and putting a blanket on your dad, who did not stir even a little bit. Seeing him sleep made you decide it was time for bed yourself, with how late it was getting. Quickly getting ready for bed and under your covers, you sighed and closed your eyes, praying you would have a good night sleep.

Your sleep was restless, like it was the past 3 weeks, and you woke up at 5:30 am. You tossed and turned, trying to force yourself to sleep again, but your mind was wide awake and your body was restless, filled with energy.

Rolling out of bed, you shivered as your feet touched your cold laminate flooring. You padded over to your window and peeked behind the curtains.

You were surprised to see that the sky was clear, the ground was not as wet as it was the past couple days, and you wondered if the the sun was going to show its face today. It had just started to slowly rise, the twilight sky turning over to the blue hour. Maybe summer was finally arriving, it was late May after all.

But Forks summers where never as hot as you liked, and the lakes had seaweed bottoms that created muddy puddles around the shore. So even if summer was around the corner, you knew not to get too excited.

Turning your attention away from the weather, you looked towards the front of the house. Charlies cruiser was not in the drive way, you guessed he had already left for work. A bit earlier then usual, but nothing to be alarmed about.

For the next 30 minutes, you went about doing your morning routine. For the past 3 weeks, your morning schedules would consist of you making your bed, eating a good breakfast and trying to get some work in. Whether it be school work, or waiting around for your shift at the diner to start, you always tried to keep yourself occupied, because when you didn't you mind would wander to the uneasy feeling in your core you had since the day you ended things with Jasper.

You knew that the love between you and Jasper was different, you could see the way he looked at you, admiration and infatuation deep in his core. You were so much more then just a girlfriend to him, you knew that and so did everyone around you too. Even if he himself never let the words come out of his mouth, he knew you were what he had been waiting for his whole life. from humanhood to vampire, he was seeking for his mate, and you were finally that.

Of course though, he had yet to tell you this but the rest of the Cullen's knew how easy it was for vampires, like werewolves, to imprint on their loved ones.

Once you had finished your usual routine, you glanced at the clock. It had only been 30 minutes, and the sky outside was still a dusty blue.

Your eyes swept around you room, it was still cold but it reminded you of Jaspers icy skin so you didn't mind much. Hanging on the back of your closet door was your rain coat, and you decided that getting in some movement was not the worst idea.

So, you changed in well fitted jeans, and pulled your coat over your thin PJ Shirt before heading out into the street.

The air was cool and crisp, and burnt your lungs. The lawn still had a thin layer of dew on it and the starting's of shrubs at the edge of the forest trail by the house was also no different.

You didn't walk this trail often, unlike Bella and Edward, only a few times with Jacob or Charlie.

The trail went deep, and winded around trees and fallen trunks. You let your thoughts run wild, hoping that soon they would run out.

Though, they seemed to grow stronger every waking minute and for the first time since the day you left Jaspers house, you felt soft tears prick your eyes. This was a lot harder then you though it would be, but it was the only thing that made sense. You couldn't live your life hiding your loved one from the word, and unlike your sister, the desire to become a vampire yourself was non existent. You loved being human, you loved the fragileness of it, the realness of it, and the beauty of it.

Jasper admired this, but even though you knew he would never want to condemn you to what he believed to be his own personal hell, the thought of you growing old and dying shook him to the core.

This was another issue with your relationship. Talk of the future, kids and homes and white picket fences where truly not something that ever came up. When they did, they were soft and sad and the topic would be hung heavy in the air between you too.

Without knowing it, you had walked so deep in the woods, that the trail had come to an end as the gravel beneath your feet started to thin out. You contemplated turning back and ending your walk, but up ahead a deer stood stunned in its spot, looking at you.

"Oh," You breathed and stopped walking, as the deer stood so still you almost mistook it for a fake "Hello sweetheart" you cooed so softly, and took a very soft, cautious step forward.

The deer's ears perked and you stopped moving, staying in your spot, you sighed and looked around your surroundings. A fallen mossy tree trunk was in between you and the deer, acting as a wall that you knew the deer regarded as a shield. Before you could speak to it again, the deer looked out into the distance of the dense forest before it jumped in it spot and bounded away.

You stood there, a bit stunned at the random event, but paid no mind to it and moved forward to step over the trunk and continue your walk. Deer's were already such jumpy creatures, so you didn't feel an uneasiness from its skittishness and you had to admit the encounter gave you a new sense of calmness that washed over you.

Walking a few feet deeper in the woods, the dirt beneath your feet morphed into wet pebble stone, and looking up you noticed you had come across a small river. It was beautiful, the rocks all different shades of brown and grey covering the bottom.

You sighed, and squatted at the shore carefully so you didn't fall in, and picked up a small twig. You tried to poke a few rocks around, but the river was a lot deeper then you expected, so the stick barely reached. You noted that one day you could come here and swim, it seemed peaceful.

Rising up again, you turned around to leave and almost screamed in surprised.

Jasper was standing father back, still covered by the trees and moss, staring out at you almost sheepishly.

"Jasper- you scared me," You said not really thinking, and Jasper frowned a bit automatically making you feel bad. "What are you doing here" you said softly, and swallowed heavily.

"I'm sorry, i didn't mean to scare you" he started and stepped out into the clearing. He looked the same, just a bit more tired, if that was possible. His hair was disheveled and he wore a pair of jeans and his red flannel with his sleeves rolled up showcasing his lean muscles and battle scars. "You didn't come to dinner last night, and well...i just-" He swallowed his tongue, and his accent sent shivers down your body.

You knew vampires didn't eat, not human food at least, so you didn't know why Jasper tried to keep up the charade of the excuse Edward and Bella made last night for Charlies sake. But you supposed that Carslie or Esme did make some thing for Bella to munch on. So maybe it wasn't much of a charade after all.

"Were you following me?" You didn't know if you wanted him to say yes or no, your stomach felt anxious just being in Jaspers presence.

Jasper sighed, and ran his hand through his hair "I just..." The fact that he felt your emotions made it harder for him to think, and he wondered if you would mind if he used his powers to calm you down, but he knew that would most likely not end very well. "I miss you." He spoke softly, and came closer.

"Jasper," you went to protest, pushing down the fact that you missed him too, but as you looked down at you feet you felt a small splash "Oh! My keys!" You groaned as your house keys fell from your coats shallow pocket and into the deep river.

Jasper stepped forward. "I'm sorry." he began like he had threw them in and started to push up his already rolled sleeves higher "Here let me get them"

You looked at him, and shook your head "No, no" You sighed, you could feel a mild headache coming on. "No. I'll get them."

Jasper stood as still as stone, and eyed you, "Are you sure, i don't mind" He said and watched you intently. "This river is glacier fed. It'll be cold." He warned worriedly.

"No it's fine. Its my keys" You huffed, you really did not want help from your ex-boyfriend. That small action would make life so much more complicated then it already was, you just knew it.

You stepped a bit off to the side of the rocks, finding a drier patch before glancing at your ex-boyfriend. He watched you intently, a look you couldn't quite read in his eyes. You took a shaky breath, and slipped off our shoes, then slowly took off your coat.

The keys had fallen deep in the river, and you were so tempted to leave them, but you knew if you didn't get them Jasper would. So you took a shaky breath and bite your lip, slowly taking your first step in the water.

You hissed, not expecting it to be as cold as it was, and you felt the water seep through your socks and the fabric around your ankles, making you feel heavy. The shock send a shiver up your spine, and your breathing become a big rigid.

Your eyes looked down through the clear water and spotted your keys logged between two large rocks, you glanced at Jasper who had not moved a muscle. He stood still, his breath shallow as he watched every move you made. His eyes hade turned dark, a coal black colour. Something about his interaction was strangely intimate and you didn't know if that was the cold water fogging your brain or if it was just the fact that you stood in front of Jasper in a thin white PJ shirt, breathing heavy and practically half of you drenched in water.

Silently, you bent down to put your arm in the water, trying to keep majority of your self dry, straining your neck so your hair wouldn't get wet. Jasper shuffled, and he looked like he wanted to say something, but he held his mouth shut. His jaw was tense, and his fists were balled at his sides.

You fully looked at him, and made eye contact, taking another shaky breath due to the glacier fed river, and tried to get your fingers to grab the keys. Though, they were logged tight, and your fingers only grazed the metal rings the keys sat on. There was no other choice but to go fully in.

Determined, you closed your eyes, and dunked your head into the water. Your fingers wrapped around the keys and tugged hard, pulling them from out between the rocks. Rising up, you gasped for air, and took a moment to reign your senses.

You evened out your breathing, and turned to look at Jasper, who in his shocked stance cracked a small smirk. You pushed your hair from your face as he spoke "who knew you could be so cool" his southern draw made you weak in the knees, and you pulled at your shirt so it wouldn't be as see through.

You couldn't help but smile though, and step out from the water to grab your shoes. You sat on a drier rock, sniffling and wrapping your coat around you to stop any shivering. Jasper watched you, and his heart ached that he couldn't warm you up with his icy cold body.

"I'm sorry..." You spoke after a pause, and Jasper slowly sat down next to you, your thighs touching. The feeling made you sigh, and your head ache seemed to be gone. You couldn't tell if it Jasper was using his powers, or if the icy cold water put you in some type of shock. You decided that his presence was just a comfort, anything else would have been a lie. "I-I hope we can still be friends." You turned your head to look at the stunning man next to you, who was already looking at you with udder admiration.

He just shook his head "I can't just be friends with you."

You sighed, fearing this response. "Why?" Both your voices where low, the sound of the river and other wildlife being the only thing to cause a ruckus.

"I love you too much to...let you go on with your life without me in it," He paused, and you could tell he seemed to hesitate on what he wanted to say. You urged him to go on, slowly nodding and placing your wet hand on top of his knee. "You're my mate. I need you, I can't do-" He gestured around him, but his eyes didn't look away from yours for a second. "This- without you."

A shaky breathe exited your lips. You had heard about mates before when learning about werewolves and vampires from those around you, but you never expected to have one yourself. You guessed though that Edward and Bella- or Rosalie and Emmet where prime examples. But all the examples of mates around you were all one being. Rosalie and Esme with Carslie and Emmet where vampires. Bella wanted to be a vampire. Non of the examples in your life showcased how mates worked with two different species.

"I like being human," You whispered, and let your fingers start to draw circles on Jaspers knee subconsciously. "I can't be who you want me to be."

"I would never ask you to change that." Jasper deadpanned, and he looked eager to show you he wouldn't. You smiled at him, knowing no matter how much he believed that, he would ask you one day. Maybe not tomorrow but 30 years down the line the conversation would come up.

"But you will," You admitted and Jasper shook his head furiously, tears starting to surface in his eyes. He looked desperate to reach out for you. You repeated yourself "But you will- Jasper-" You called his name sternly as a string of 'no's came tumbling from his mouth. "You will." He took a shaky breath and you bit your lip, he couldn't argue with that.

He knew himself, deep down he would bring the idea up once in your life. The thought of you growing old and dying shook him to his core, it was a paralyzing fear. He would beg you to let someone turn you when things started to look a bit to serious with your future. "Then- I..." He struggled to speak, this conversation was not going the way he hoped it would and if he still had a beating heart it would have stopped by now. "I don't know what to do." He said shakily.

You brough your hand off his knee and slowly intertwined your fingers with his, his icy coldness brining some type of comfort to yourself. Jasper sighed, and closed his eye for a brief minute feeling your warm fingers, and you gazed upon your intertwined hands. His thumb drew circles on the back of your hand, and you sighed, leaning your head on his shoulder. The sun had fully rose now, and the rays peaked through the trees, falling on Jasper. He didn't care though, there was much more important things on his mind then his sparkling skin.

Your eyes roamed his diamond complexation, watching as a string of rainbows practically bounced off of him. It finally set in then, you two really were different, and you had no idea what you should do. "I don't know either.." You admitted, a comfortable silence falling between the two lovers.

The way Teen Wolf (and subsequently the McCall Pack and Parents) treated Theo is probably one of the most interesting dynamics in the whole show.

And by interesting, I meant downright hypocritical .

Because sure, we can’t kill or plot against people, but hey! Let’s also have the main characters constantly work with adults who did in fact hurt them, torture them, and even murdered them! Let’s have other murderers running around teenagers without problem. Or have them date almost murderers and actual murderers. We’ll even hand out second chances and thirds like candy on halloween!

Allison. Chris Argent. Peter Hale. Aiden. Ethan. Deucalion. Hell, half the McCall Pack at this point.

But hey, we draw the line at Theo fucking Raeken.

Let’s start with Theo’s vague childhood and the events leading up to his the Dread Doctors taking him. The story itself is so nonsensical that it’s a wonder we never actually got the whole true story.

1. We know there must’ve been something wrong with Theo’s health from a young age. No child would believe his sister wanted to give him her heart unless that child has a potentially soon-to-be fatal heart disease.

2. Teen Theo is very different from baby Theo. Enough that Stiles was able to guess that teen Theo wanted something from them. If baby Theo was a burgeoning psychopath or sociopath, Stiles would have mentioned it. He didn’t; baby Theo must’ve been a normal little kid before the Dread Doctors got their hands on him

3. Tara’s death. This happened around 4th grade. We know he was nine. Valack insisted that he was ten, but Theo himself admitted the Doctors were already manipulating him by the age of nine. We don’t know how long it was before that they started whispering in his ears.

4. Theo’s parents must’ve been quite absent. All the other Chimaera subjects were kids that were taken because no one would notice them gone for long periods of time. A nine year old going missing is a lot more obvious than a bunch of 15-16 year olds. So they must’ve manipulated him either during sleep time, or after school. Either way: where the heck were his parents?

Theo might be a good liar, but I don’t believe for a second he killed Tara because he wanted to. Or of his own free will. The Dread Doctors got into his head and manipulated him into doing it by focusing on his desperation to live.

A nine year old boy is abducted and tortured into a living science lab experiment. He spends the next 8 or so years being their only success. He’s exposed constantly to death and blood and torture. He’s raised to be the perfect spy, and was probably tortured into mastering his tells. Remember: at 17, Theo had more control over his shift and powers than even most adults. He was able to hide and manipulate his chemosignals. He was able to keep his heart steady despite lying constantly. Body language, eyes, tone—all manipulated to such a degree even Malia was fooled.

That is not a talent that comes naturally. That is not something a teenager should be able to do, not to mention do it so well he was able to manipulate so many shifters at once. That is something you could be trained and tortured into doing, though.

So you get a traumatized, brainwashed baby spy with murderous tendencies, who is self-serving to a detriment because he spent nearly a decade under the thumb of murderous scientists who could kill him anytime they deemed him no longer necessary. I’m not surprised Theo ended up the way he did: no one lives true that without accepting the need to do the worst possible things to survive.

What I don’t understand is what makes Theo so different from all the other antagonists/anti-heroes/villains that the McCall Pack considers him irredeemable and thus deserving of death.

They forgave Allison for Boyd and Erica and Isaac.

They accepted Chris Argent and his history of spilling innocent blood.

They let Peter live and worked with him after his return in S2. After S4.

Meredith Blake literally got people killed via a deadpool.

Deucalion was healed and allowed to go free despite the carnage he wrought in his revenge.

Nobody hunted down Gerard after needing his help in S5. Or made sure he was indisposed.

Aiden and Ethan were allowed to walk free.

So why Theo?

Kira sent him to hell. The entire McCall Pack stood there and did nothing while he was killed, even when he begged for help. Malia constantly threatens to kill him without remorse or care. Scott told Liam to put him back underground, essentially killing him again.

Oh, but this is the same pack that hands out second chances like candy! Who refuse to take lives or even consider it a possibility. Who works with murderers and killers without issue as long as it’s needed, with far less protest than they did Theo in 6A.

Or is because Theo’s the only one that succeeded, and they can’t accept they lost? This miraculous, spunky, rag-tag pack of teenagers who somehow survived against all odds…lost miserably to a teenager their age.

Even the adults showed more disgust and disdain towards Theo than, again, the literal adults who’ve hurt and killed kids before. You never saw Stilinski threaten anyone the way he did Theo, did you?

Or is it because unlike everyone else, Theo couldn’t really be manipulated? No loved ones or best friends or exes and lovers; no parents or sister alive to be used against him. He had no bridges to be burned, was already operating like a dead man walking.

I just find it funny that Theo had to stay dead and gone, but Peter was placed in Eichen and Gerard in a care home.

Jasper Hale being your boyfriend

Boy, let me tell you... This dude is a SIMP. He always waits for you after class and he always carry your things. He's basically your personal bodyguard and boyfriend.

He's not a fan of PDA that much, but when you're both alone, he will straight up hug you, but not too tight... He's afraid that he will hurt you.

He rarely gets jealous because he knows that you're his soulmate but sometimes when boys gets touchy with you, he will go to you and straight up say: "Darling, are they bothering you?" While glaring at them.

He knows that he will need to turn you into a vampire soon but he can't help but feel sad because he likes your eyes. But he doesn't have a choice so he's just enjoying the memories with you as a human.

Sometimes he sneaks in your room just because he misses you or when he's bored. He enjoys seeing your surprised face.

He decided that it's time for you to meet his family but he's kinda nervous, lmao. But in the end, it worked out.

Esme LOVES you even when she just met you. She loves seeing your smile so she always finds a way to see you smile.

Carlisle just smiles at you and welcomes you in the family because he knows you're gonna get turned soon, and He's glad that jasper finally have someone to love.

Alice, being the sweet girl she is, hugs you and say "it's nice to finally meet you" and she keeps talking about fashions and how she loves your outfits.

Rosalie hated you at first, but then warmed up to you and always hangs out with you. She always makes you sit in their table when it's lunch time. You're her favorite human, and soon to be vampire.

Emmett was super excited to meet you, he wants to create chaos with you lmaooo. He always gives you stupid ideas to do with him, which leads to jasper saying: "No, not happening on my watch."

Edward and bella.. ehh they're nice and they welcome you, but they're always lovely dovely with each other so you rarely interact with them. But you think they're nice and they think you're nice too.

You always go to their house to hang out with them cuz who wouldn't want to be with them? Playing chess with Edward, creating chaos with Emmett, having fashion show with Alice, cooking with Esme, learning history with Carlisle, having girl talks with Rosalie, and cuddling with Jasper.

You know who and what they are, and you know you're gonna get turned into a vampire soon, so you cherish all of your last moments with your human life.

And as soon as you turned into a vampire, Jasper won't stay away from your side. He always admire you, staring at you like you're the only woman in his eyes.

When you're awake, he calls Carlisle to help you control your thirst, and they're actually shocked because you learned how to control it in a short time. But they're proud of you, especially emmett because.. chaos, you know?

And having you as a vampire means he doesn't need to hold back. Kind of. But he can finally do things with you without holding himself back.

He always hunts with you to see how strong and fast you are. And he's not surprised you're stronger and faster now, it only made him fall inlove with you more.

Even if you're a vampire now, he still protects you and stay by your side. And again, he still carries your bag. But you won't complain, princess treatment is the best.

Edward is kind of annoyed cuz Jasper's mind is filled with you. Like literally every minute he thinks about you.

And when you both finally graduate, he plans on marrying you in like 3-4 months because yes, he's been wanting to marry you.

And when you're both finally getting married, he has the biggest smile on his handsome face. Makes you fall inlove with him more.

He literally can't wait, so he straight up kissed you when it's just announcing lmaoooo.

But he's glad to finally have you in his life. He will protect you always and he will forever love you. Well, let's just say this is a "he fell first but she fell harder but he fell hardest." cute, isn't it?

Summary: When a new girl arrives at Forks, she seems to catch Jasper Hale's attention. However, he and his family are hiding a secret. What they don't know is that Evelyn has a secret of her own

Evelyn and the Cullens were getting closer, especially Evelyn with Jasper. The family had taken her in and that seemed to be the biggest news at school. The Cullens, who had never spoken to anyone, had become friends with Eve in a matter of weeks. And that only brought even more attention to her.

Jasper would often come to her house to help her study and would also bring food made by Esme, who Evelyn had yet to meet. It wasn't that Jasper didn't want to take her home with him, but he already had to share Evelyn with his siblings, even Edward who had finally gotten over his frustration with not being able to read Eve's thoughts due to the static. He didn't want to have to share her at home too.

However, Evelyn had not forgotten her first friends at all, and made a point of dividing her time between the two groups. Despite being asked about the Cullens' secrets, especially Jessica and Mike, Evelyn never said anything, just rolling her eyes playfully and changing the subject.

She was now in biology class, Jasper by her side, extremely close to her. In fact, it was just to smell Eve's vanilla scent and not focus on the blood circulating through the other students' veins.

They were dissecting a frog, something Evelyn didn't really appreciate from her expression. Jasper laughed slightly at Eve's antics, who almost refused to cut the poor animal's belly. She handed the scalpel to the vampire, telling him he should do it. He accepted without complaint.

However, in the middle of the class, a distracted student slightly cut his finger with the scalpel. Evelyn saw a small drop of blood escape from the cut, and her eyes widened. Beside her, Jasper tensed, his jaw clenched and fists closed. He immediately pulled away from Evelyn and held his breath. The only thing that was stopping him from attacking was Evelyn, but even so he wouldn't be able to maintain control for much longer.

However, Evelyn didn't let him get too far, quickly grabbing Jasper's hand. She suddenly stood up in her chair, making a loud noise that caught the teacher's attention.

"Sorry! Blood, dizzy. I have to leave." She explained as succinctly as possible. The teacher nodded, looking at her strangely. She pulled the vampire with her. "Jasper has to come with me. To help me."

Without waiting for the teacher's answer, the two hurried out of the classroom, going as far away from the room as possible. They were at the end of the hallway, close to the exit doors.

Jasper, who was letting the scent of his mate consume his body, looked at her in surprise. "You know." he whispered.

"Surprise?"

Jasper quickly took her to his car, heading to their house. He received a text from Alice saying that they were behind him, having heard what happened thanks to their sharp hearing.

The two remained silent, as Evelyn had said that she would explain it to everyone at the same time, as it would be easier if everyone was present.

Jasper nodded, but asked only one question. "Aren't you afraid of me?"

"No," she answered with certainty. "You don't know, Jasper, but there are many monsters in this world. You and your family are far from that."

They finally arrived at the Cullen mansion, and Evelyn looked at the house in adoration. They lived a little isolated from the rest of the city, near the edge of the forest. The house was large, with lots of glass that let in light. The walls were made of wood, giving it a rustic and classic feel, perfect for the Cullens.

The door opened and Evelyn saw two people, looking older but still extremely beautiful with their pale skin and amber eyes.

"Jasper? Is everything alright?" the woman, who Evelyn realized was Esme, asked. "Is that Evelyn?"

"Yes, hello!" she smiled at the couple, letting Jasper put a hand on her back and lead her to the entrance of the house. "It's very nice to meet you, Mrs. and Mr. Cullen."

"Please, call us Esme and Carlisle. You really are as beautiful as Jasper said." Esme said, opening the door wider for them to enter. Behind them, the rest of the Cullens' cars had arrived and everyone was heading inside, their eyes fixed on Evelyn.

"What's going on?" the clan leader asked, confused.

"She knows." Jasper said simply, but never taking his eyes off Eve.

"Well, I certainly have to tell you the truth now." Evelyn tried to calm her pounding heart. "I wasn't sure what you were, because I've met some of your kind who were… different. But the pale skin, the fact that you never ate, all signs pointed to you being vampires."

Evelyn saw Rosalie open her mouth, but cut her off before she could speak. "Don't worry, Rose, I won't say anything. After all, I have a secret too. And I really don't want it to be revealed."

"You can trust us, darling." Jasper promised, taking a small step toward her unconsciously. He needed to be closer to her.

"I know." She smiled slightly. "I am, this is going to sound weird I know, but I am the daughter of Aphrodite, goddess of love and fertility."

"So you're what? A demigod?" Emmett asked, his mouth slightly open. When Evelyn confirmed, he turned to his wife, "See? I got it right!"

Rosalie rolled her eyes at her husband's antics. Alice was the next to speak, "What does that mean? What can you do?"

"Quite unlike the children of the other gods, I have no powers. I know how to fight, but only because I've been trained since I was three. Demigods, those who are recognized by their parents at least, go to a camp. There we train to… to kill monsters."

"What kind of monsters?" Lucas crossed his arms, bringing Alice closer to him. Jasper glared at him, when he saw Evelyn's face fall.

"Oh, not you. Another type of monster. You know Furies, Minotaur, Mimas, and the list goes on." She revealed, seeing the shocked looks of the vampire clan. "Anyway, I'm just pretty. I attract attention. But the children of Athena are smart, the children of Poseidon can control water. We all live together. And we go on quests to kill monsters and send them back to hell. That's also why I have dyslexia, all demigods have it. We are hyperactive, something that helps in battles."

"You're not just pretty. You're much more than that." Jasper quickly said, completely amazed by the girl.

"Thanks, Jasper. Well, on my last quest I went with my friends, but it didn't go well. I was the only survivor." Evelyn looked up to keep the tears from falling. "I had to get out of there. Try to live a normal life, for them."

The vampires looked at Evelyn sadly. "I never knew demigods were real." Carlisle whispered. He was completely surprised, as was the rest of his family.

"Yes, we try not to let anyone know. Our life is dangerous enough." Evelyn said, after controlling her emotions. What she didn't know, was that Jasper was helping her calm down. "The monsters chase us. They can sense that we are demigods. But here, in Forks, none have found me yet. I think it's because of the presence of so many supernatural beings."

"This is wicked!" Emmett exclaimed.

"So that's why I can't see what you're thinking?" Edward questioned. "Or because Alice didn't see you coming in her visions?"

"Sorry, what?" the blonde raised her eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

"Some vampires have gifts, darling." Jasper explained, now walking the rest of the distance to stand next to Evelyn. His amber eyes looked at her with admiration. "Edward can read minds, Alice can see the future and I'm an empath."

"Oh, wow. That's — wow." The vampire family laughed at Evelyn's reaction. "But yes, maybe that's why. What do you hear in my mind?"

"Just static. It's like a barrier I can't get past." Edward explained.

"That's cool." Evelyn murmured, her eyes wide. "What about you? Do you have another form besides your human one like the vampires I know?"

"No." Carlisle replied, his curiosity heightened by the knowledge that there were other species. "Are you able, if you can, to tell us more about these... vampires?"

"They are extremely beautiful and seductive women under the control of the goddess Hecate. They are known to feed on the blood of men. Their true form is a woman with flaming hair, white skin, glowing red eyes, fangs, one prosthetic Celestial Bronze leg and one donkey leg and wings." Eve explained succinctly. She remembered the first time she had fought an Empousa, it wasn't fun. "The demigods can see her in her true form, so I can tell your species apart. But I don't know a lot about you, we focus more on the mythical creatures."

"We glow when exposed to the sun. And we don't drink human blood, only animal blood, hence the color of our eyes." Evelyn nodded, already knowing that last part. "And we're immortal, of course."

"Same." Evelyn shrugged. The family looked at her in confusion, their eyes wide and eyebrows raised. It seemed as if she was discovering a new world after so many years of life. "Demigods are a bit stronger than a mere human. And we have a few more abilities. But we can still die if we are injured. At twenty, we become immortal, which is when our powers are at their peak."

"How old are you?" Alice asked.

"I'm nineteen." Evelyn informed with a small laugh. "My ritual isn't until next year. So now you know."

Rosalie was the first to snap out of her shock and pulled Evelyn into a hug. Evelyn quickly hugged her back, happy that there were no more secrets, or so she thought. Alice hurried to join them, the three of them giggling, while the rest of the vampires watched them with smiles. They acted like real teenagers when they were together.

After talking to the Cullen family a bit more, she and Jasper went for a walk in the woods. He was somewhat relieved that they had an eternity together, and that he wouldn't have to watch her grow old without him.

"So you can feel what I'm feeling?" Evelyn found the courage to ask. Jasper nodded. "That's a little embarrassing. I don't know why I feel this way around you."

"I know why, darling." He stopped walking, causing Evelyn to stop as well. He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

Evelyn lost herself as she looked into Jasper's eyes. They held so much pain, but also adoration for her. But why? The forest had gone silent, even the birds had stopped singing, as if they knew something was going to happen.

Jasper's cool touch on her cheek was soothing, and it made her stomach turn. It was as if every time the vampire touched her, an electric shock spread through her body. All rational thoughts were forgotten and she could only focus on him.

"We're mates. I'm yours. And you're mine."

"I think I need to sit down."

Sterek fic recs: High School AU Edition

In honor of my conversation with @darling-winnie about same age!Sterek, as well as my promise to @oldefashioned, here are some high school au recs!

1. Double Cherries (And 'Extra' Hoodies) by undercoverbastard

“No, no - wait - don’t tell me,” Stiles suddenly said, leaning forward and grinning at the boy directly on his right, eyes gleaming with joy and mischief as he spoke. “You want… a salmon burger, swiss, with fruit, and a vanilla shake. Eh?”

Derek scowled, shoving his menu at Stiles as he slumped back. “No,” he said plainly. Stiles pouted.

“Too bad! That’s what I’m penning you in for, Eyebrows,” Stiles said, scribbling on his notepad as he stood and began to walk away. Derek huffed, opening his mouth to give Stiles his actual order, but the only word he got out was ‘I’ before Stiles waved him off without even looking back at Derek or down at the notepad, stride unbroken, as he recited:

“Double cheeseburger, half swiss, half cheddar, no pickles, curly fries, side honey mustard, strawberry milkshake, extra thick, double cherries.”

OR: alive hale family, alive claudia, and high school friends stiles/derek - all wrapped into one, based on a joke from a TV show i watched when i was 7, and then got wildly out of control!

Notes: adorable, I love their banter and the conection they have. Alive!Hale family is always such a treasure, and Claudia and Talia's friendship is great here. It's completed.

2. i wanna dance with somebody (who loves me) by bleepobleep

Derek gets in an accident and loses a few years of his memory; suddenly everything is different— he's not a freshman loser anymore, but a popular senior, captain of the basketball team, a shoo-in for prom king, too, and he should have everything he's ever wanted— except he doesn't seem to be friends with Stiles anymore.

Notes: Derek is not having a good time. Pookie just wants to be with his best friend but it turns out they're not best friends anymore and the world doesn't make sense because of it. A little angsty but it all works out. It's completed.

3. Don't Kiss and Tell by Hedwig221b

Paige has finally got the boyfriend she always wanted. The only thing is, said boyfriend doesn't touch her, doesn't kiss her and spends all his time with Stiles Stilinski. You'd think they were dating, or something...

Notes: When I tell you I go feral for this au every single time I read it! Hedwig has the best unhinged obsessive sterek fics and I'll swear on that, don't even try to change my mind. Poor Paige is definitely being led on here, and both Derek and Stiles are assholes in this one, but they're in love and they're completely devoted to each other, so it's okay (I know it doesn't make sense now, but it will. Trust). It's completed.

4. But Then What... by Stoney

Senior year is almost over, and all Stiles needs to do is keep his head down to survive. A teacher calls in a favor, leaving him stuck tutoring Derek Hale, one of the most popular jocks in school and a member of a group of douchecanoes who have bullied Stiles for years. He's someone Stiles totally hates. Totally. Like, doesn't like him even a little bit. DEFINITELY isn't attracted to him.

Except that is a total lie. Fuck his life, seriously.

Notes: Typical Jock/Nerd enemies to lovers only it's Stiles being incredibly paranoid and angsty all of the time lol. They both had me shaking my head because my babies truly don't know how to communicate, but we got there! Eventually. It's completed.

5. Just The Same by foxlavander

Something is seriously up with the captain of the lacrosse team. There's just no way Derek Hale is human. *** “I was wondering if you're even human. You move so quickly. I mean, it's ridiculously fast. No human should be able to move that fast, y'know? It's unfair for us. I mean, it's obvious you work out, and I don't, so that could be why, but like...I was just wondering if you were human, that's all.” “Stop talking, Stilinski, or I'll—” “Put me on the bench all season?” Stiles asks knowing full well that Derek Hale can't threaten him with shit.

Notes: This one is so good. Stiles is onto you, Derek! But seriously, they're so awesome in this one. And Derek bakes and he wants to open up a bakery and it's adorable. I love them and I love the Hales, everything is great. Look out for the werewolf reveal! It's completed.

6. The In Which Stiles Is Secretly Magic series by apocryphal

All Stiles wants from life is to learn to control his magic, keep his grades up, and not die horribly while saving Beacon Hills from supernatural threats. It's all going pretty well until Derek Hale, werewolf extraordinaire, has to go and ask him on a date. That asshole.

Notes: The lore for magic users in here is honestly so good. Love the world building! The Hales are alive in this one as well, which for me is always a plus. A little bit (maybe more than a little bit) angsty but it ends well. There's a few things going on, but basically Stiles is basically Deaton's apprentice and there are Rules(TM) he has to follow as a magic user. He's pretty badass though! The series is technically not finished, but both parts in the series are completed.

7. cheer up, babe by graveltotempo

He was the basketball captain. And he was a cheerleader. Can I make it any more clear? OR: Derek Hale thought he had his crush on Stiles Stilinski under control. And then Stiles decided to show up to school in a skirt.

Notes: Derek spends all 20k words thirsting over Stiles, as he should. Stiles gets to wear a skirt and be generally awesome. They are disgustingly sweet together.

8. Made Your Mark on Me (A Golden Tattoo) by writteninthewolfstar

Beacon Hills High and Lycan Heights High are well-known enemies. Derek Hale, Lycan Heights' star quarter-back, is well-known for being aggressive and arrogant. Imagine Stiles surprise when he discovers that Derek Hale is actually his soul-mate.

Notes: This one is very sweet. There's insecure Stiles and absolutely lovely Derek. It's abo with Omega!Stiles and Alpha!Derek, and it's actually pretty wholesome. Derek is like public enemy number one of BHHS and a jock, Stiles is a loner, and when they turn out to be soulmates they have to navigate what that means for it. It has 13 out of 14 chapters, last updated in March of 2024.

Stiles, worried that Scott may actually leave him behind because of his newfound popularity, is desperate to cling to something away from the drama of Lydia Martin's amazing parties and the woes of high school lacrosse. What he finds is Derek Hale, a guy who seemingly hates Stiles at first, but slowly, and insistently, becomes friends with him. As their friendship grows, Stiles starts to wonder if they could ever become something more or if pushing what they have will lead him to being alone for good.

Notes: Also very sweet! It's strangers to friends to lovers, and Stiles falls out of love with Lydia without even realizing because he's fallen in love with Derek. The Hales are alive in this one, yay! The way sterek bonds over music is also so good! It's completed.

10. Stupid Over You by Wolfspurr

It's a Friday night, and instead of enjoying any of the numerous things he'd rather be doing, Stiles has been roped into dinner with his dad at the Hale's. On the plus side, Derek Hale will be there. On the minus side, Derek Hale will be there, and Stiles already has a hard enough time not making an ass of himself in front of the hottest guy in school. There's no way this can end well.

Notes: Overall amazing fic! Stiles is his oblivious awkward self that we all know and love, Derek is completely smitten with him. All this wrapped up in a dinner with the Hales and the Stilinskis. That's it, that's the fic. It's completed.

11. Six Minutes by CosmoKid

“What do you want?” Derek practically grows when Stiles is near enough to hear. He can definitely feel the werewolf vibes coming from the guy as well as the fuck off vibes that roll off him in tsunami-sized waves. Stiles has one thing he needs to say to Derek, but he also has eight million questions to ask him about the werewolf thing and he can barely sort out his thoughts as it is, let alone when there’s a ridiculously attractive werewolf who’s basically Adonis staring at him. Derek takes another drag of his cigarette and raises his eyebrows at Stiles expectantly. He shivers and blurts out, ��Six minutes.” That makes Derek smirk, but it’s so condescending that even Harris would be impressed. “No offense, Kitten,” Derek starts and Stiles just narrows his eyes at the nickname. Derek keeps his eyes trained on Stiles as if to dare him to challenge the nickname. Stiles bites his tongue and resists it. “But you’re not really my type.”

Notes: This is not your typical high school au, but it's a nice change of pace. It's got werewolves, which we love, and bad boy Derek. Stiles stood no chances lol. It's completed.

12. The covalent bonds series by HaldFizzbin

Awkward Nerd Derek has been crushing on Handsome Jock Stiles since forever—so getting paired with him on a Chemistry project is definitely the best/worst thing that's ever happened to him.

Notes: I went on a little Nerd!Derek and Jock!Stiles fixation the other day so here we have it. Derek is awkward and funny and insecure and we love him. Stiles is Stiles, and he's awesome. The series is not finished, but all the parts of the series are complete.

13. It's Always Been You, Dumbass by stilinskisparkles

“Alright, cool, we should go,” Stiles says breezily, dusting off his hands as he stands. “We should?” “Yeah!” “But… Do you even care about photography?” “Not as much as I should,” Stiles plants both his hands on the table, bracketing Derek in, “You’ll have to correct my miscreant ways.”

Notes: Stiles is helplessly pining, Derek is painfully oblivious and the absolute last to find out. Somehow, they still go on like three dates together. It's pretty great, and it's completed.

14. can you tell me what was ever really special about me all this time? by whirl

There's something strange about Beacon Hills. Stiles can't really put his finger on it, but the way certain classmates look at him at school and the way certain adults look at him in the grocery store has him curious. And it's not the sort of pitying looks that his mom's coworkers used to give him, but these ones are longer, more searching, like they're looking for something. Not to mention the weird noises that sometimes come from the woods when he runs, too human to be animal and too animal to be human. Plus the way the Hales have seemed to sequester themselves to the wild and give Stiles serious Cullen family vibes. But Stiles, like everyone else apparently, ignores it. Until it becomes too great to ignore and he has to investigate for himself and find out what is actually going on in Beacon Hills. +++ Or, the one where Stiles and Derek meet, hate each other, slowly get to know one another, and fall totally head over heels for each other all while avoiding curious classmates, an angry ex-girlfriend, and, oh yeah, imminent death.

Notes: This one is kinda crazy but in a good way! It's 120k words long so be prepared for that, and Stiles finds out about werewolves. Derek, pookie, I'm rooting for you all the way! Also Cora, my beloved. I adore her. Stiles is pretty confused all the time for a while there. It's completed.

On his way to his room, he notices a door with no number on it-” “An albino woman with white skin and red eyes committed suicide in that room years ago,” finished Erica, inspecting her nails with a smirk. “We know that too.” “A babysitter goes to put two children to sleep in their room and notices a large creepy clown statue in the corner-” he tried again. “Get out of the house, we don’t have a clown statue,” said Allison, tried to hide a laugh at the flustered expression on Jackson’s face. “Two roommates in a room. Sarah says that she wants to go to a party and Mary wants to stay home-” “Aren’t you glad you didn’t turn the lights on?” said Derek, and Stiles laughed, looking at him with sparkling eyes. OR the cheerleading squad, the lacrosse team and the basketball team go camping.

Notes: Another cheerleader!Stiles and Jock!Derek. I love them your honor. It's all very sweet and Derek pines as he ought to do lol. Don't worry, there's light at the end of the tunnel. It's completed.

For a second, Stiles felt like the world had slowed considerably as those words wormed their way into his brain. Because—he knew a dog that was massive. Honestly, he’d also brushed away the idea of the dog being a wolf because there were no wolves in California.

But... what if there were?

Holy shit, had Stiles literally spent his lunch break with a fucking wolf cuddled into his side while he pet it?! Good God, he was lucky to still have all his limbs!

they really put some kind of special sauce into the paternal/fraternal sort of relationship between Chris Argent and Scott McCall in teen wolf season 4, huh. Just! Like, listen! It shouldn’t work on paper. That’s a grieving dad, trained from birth to kill werewolves by Gerard fucking Argent, plus his deceased daughter’s alpha werewolf ex-boyfriend. And yet here they are, coming together after Allison’s death to protect the things she stood for.

But yet! But yet it isn’t even just about Allison anymore. What do you know, they genuinely like each other? There is so much mutual respect and actual trust there. And they’re actually pretty similar. Both fight with this quiet intensity and determination. And both are constantly holding themselves back as they do so. No violence is undertaken without careful control and reason.

Chris has been trained since birth to put down supernatural creatures, but he will now honor his daughter’s memory by being a protector, not just a hunter. Through Allison, he’s realized (with the help of Isaac, and Scott himself!) the error of his prejudice against supernatural creatures. It feels, now, like he’s trying to atone, like being a part of the fight to save people will be his penance and his purpose for the rest of his life. And this means refusing to take the kill shot any longer.

And Scott has always been afraid of the monster under his skin—hello, the berserker arc is this season! and so is Scott’s ultimate fight against Peter Hale, the embodiment of the feral, killer alpha who is more animal than human, the one who bit Scott and forced him into violence against his will! Scott is always fighting to maintain his control over the lupine part of himself, to the point that he’s practically nerfed himself the majority of the time. Have you noticed how rarely Scott actually fights full shift?

So, both Chris and Scott are careful to only point the weapon they both know they are in the direction of those who would hurt Beacon Hills. And they have this sort of unspoken agreement to hold each other in check. It’s just so beautiful to watch.

Because, reminder: Chris is the first hunter to have shot Scott McCall with a fucking crossbow. And Scott is the dangerous newly-bitten ‘wolf who was trying to date Chris’s daughter. Chris was the definition of scary, disapproving dad of the girl you like; Scott was the definition of the boy you least want around your daughter. The growth they both have had since season one! The character development!!

can you tell this friendship between a fifty-year-old man and his dead daughter’s teenage ex makes me so feral—

synopsis: being a parent is challenging and living as a mother of four little hybrids and one tri-hybrid with four different fathers is difficult, especially if those parents are supernatural beings, but protecting the well-being of their children from a dark path is a challenge for this mother and her husbands.

warnings (not really): a non accurate version of supernatural beings (got based of tvd), mentions of young death (they all got turned at 20), witchcraft (duh.. she's a witch), intentional lowercase and bad grammar (i think).

a/n: i was thinking of the dark moon characters and jasper hale from twilight and this idea came up to me. i feel like i need to explain this cause it can get messy:

so sunghoon and reader have two kids park soo-jin and sun-woo which they are the oldest of the clan, they're 12; then we have jay and reader's 10 year old park ji-ae or jane. next we have jake's little 7 year old boy sim ji-ho and last but not least with lee hyo-ri which is heeseung and reader's 4 year old daughter.

the house was filled with laughter and screams of children as i tried to prepare dinner with a little of my magic. sunghoon, my vampire husband, was playing with our older children, soo-jin and sun-woo, in the living room. jay, another of my vampire husbands, was helping ji-ae, our 10-year-old daughter, with her math homework. jake, my hybrid, was in his wolf form playing with ji-ho, our 7-year-old tri-hybrid son, in the garden. and heeseung, my last vampire husband and father of our little hyo-ri, was sitting on the couch, reading a book while hyo-ri followed me with her eyes from her high chair.

it was a very common family scene, but with a small detail: all my children were destined to become vampires when they turned 20.

i remember when my loves told me they had been converted at 20, it seemed strange and a little terrifying, but then i remembered that i had also been converted into a heretic at 20, and over time i got used to the idea. now, as i watched my children play and laugh, i couldn't help but feel a mix of emotion and nervousness. what would their lives be like as vampires? how would their condition affect their relationships and dreams?

after dinner, the children went to bed and the parents gathered in the living room to discuss our plans for the future. sunghoon and jay were discussing the best way to teach the children to control their vampire powers when they awoke. jake was sitting on the couch, looking at heeseung, who was holding hyo-ri, who was sleeping in his arms. and i was sitting on the floor, surrounded by papers and pencils, trying to plan the witchcraft lessons for the children.

suddenly, sunghoon came over to me and kissed my forehead. "what are you doing?" he asked, looking at the papers. "i'm planning the witchcraft lessons for the children," i replied. "i want to make sure they're prepared for when they become vampires."

sunghoon smiled and sat down next to me. "you're an amazing mother," he said. "always thinking about the future of our children."

i blushed a little and looked at the other parents. "i'm not the only one," i said. "we're all working together to make sure our children are prepared for what's to come."

"i think we should start teaching the children about their vampire heritage gradually," said heeseung. "start with basic things, like the history of vampires and how to live in secret among humans."

sunghoon nodded. "yes, i think that's a good idea. the sooner they learn to control their powers, the better."

jake got up from the couch and came over to us. "do you think we should teach all the children at once?"

jay replied, "it would be best, sun-woo and soo-jin will be turning 13 soon, it would be better to teach them all at once."

we all agreed and began discussing the details of how to teach the children about their vampire heritage.

after a long discussion, we decided to start with basic things, like the history of vampires and how to live in secret among humans, as well as the importance of protecting their secret and how to do it without putting the humans around them in danger. heeseung offered to start teaching hyo-ri about her vampire heritage, since she was the youngest. sunghoon and jay offered to teach soo-jin and sun-woo, who were already a bit older and could understand more complex concepts. jake decided to teach ji-ho, since he was at an intermediate age and, being a tri-hybrid, needed to learn to control his powers. and i took charge of teaching jane, who was the most curious of all and always had questions about her vampire heritage.

we started teaching the children, and at first, it was really difficult. they had many questions and didn't always understand the concepts we were teaching them. we all thought we had handled it well but as they grew, we began to notice that their condition as vampires was affecting their relationship with the human world. hyo-ri was drawn to darkness and solitude, while soo-jin and sun-woo struggled to control their predatory instincts. ji-ho felt overwhelmed by his abilities, and jane struggled to keep her telepathy under control. plus, they were trying to contain the strong magic they had inherited from me.

as parents, we felt overwhelmed by the complexity of their needs. we knew they couldn't live in the human world without taking risks, but we also knew they couldn't live in darkness without losing their humanity. but instead of trying to change them or adapt them to a world that didn't belong to them, we decided to accept them just the way they were. we gave them the freedom to explore their own identities and to find their own path in life. and although we knew that this would mean facing challenges and dangers, we also knew that it was the only way our children could find happiness.

and so, we allowed them to become the vampires they had always been destined to be. and although we didn't know what situations we would face in the future, we knew they would be ready to face it, together and as a family.
