And I hear ya. (Insert spooky joke here) There is a sprawling WEB of central hubs, for The Arts. For trade. For getting drunk and having a good time. The Zone is large and it is endless. You'll NEVER reach the far end. It can never reach you.

All things, in gentle sweeping waves, across eternity.

So when folks want to have "a market" or "a movie theater" or "the waterpark"? You gotta PICK a point on the endless map. Figure if you are close or far enough away for others like it, to make it worth the effort to build.

You might even be the first to do it for GALAXIES in any direction! People might fly for WEEKS to come to your place! Move their Lairs to be closer too it. Like dust gathered by gravity, slowly creating planets and stars. A mega Lair. A CITY.

They rise, they fall, the Zone shifts all the while.

But!

Does the dead starlet stop singing? Does getting gunned down, stop the show?? I think NOT! Where is her STAGE? What musicals? What dramas? What operas and tragedies and forms unknown to human kind??! Ballet dancers who CAN defy gravity! Singers who have no NEED for air! The haunting blend of instruments, that could never in life have met! From empires long turned to ASH!

Ember was a world wide hit. Yes, her voice was hypnotic. But that could be FOUGHT. It was SKILL that carried the game. And she was hardly "I was Literally The Greatest My Planet Ever Produced" skilled. She was good, great even. Not "I was Born For Greatness" Excellence.

And like?

.....eventually? Danny's gonna ask after "cultural-y" Culture stuff. Clothes and food. Music and the arts. To help his parents get used to the whole "our son is half-dead" thing. To show he's not some mindless monster now.

And? Ghostwriter? Probably an absolute legend. Does he know where you can find some CULTURE? Oh THANK ZONE! He thought you'd NEVER ask! You unsophisticated-! *fist fight in a library* Still a dick, though. Always and forever.

And just? Imagine Broadway stretched out into a floating city. That never sleeps. Never stops. Shows ever changing. Some on a cycle, some only once. Dream-like. Beautiful. Eye catching.

And yeah, Danny didn't think he LIKED musicals. It was more of a Jazz thing. But? This was important! Gotta get the whole family in the Speeder. We're going to see a play, guys! We'll pick when we get there! Family road trip! Educational! We can make notes!

His parents are trying to be supportive. Big, fixed, strained grins. Trying to pretend to be excited. But they... DO seem reluctantly intrigued? And Jazz is all but vibrating in her seat. It's basically her "before you go away to college" present. And she is THRILLED.

The longer she excitedly speculates? The more into it she gets their folks. This IS gonna be new! Exciting! Never before seen Ghost Culture! Music! As a FAMILY! Think we could find souvenirs? Ooooh, wonder if they sell CDs??!

Then? They GET there. And it's... it's like seeing the Las Vegas strip for the first time, except multiplied into a city. Made of even MORE styles and eras. At angles gravity would never allow.

The air filled with laughter and excitement, people rushing to shows or humming bits of tunes. Street stalls. Fountains. Flowers growing everywhere.

They could stay for months and not even reach a fraction of these buildings. His parents are taking countless photos. His sister squeeling with joy as she races for an information kiosk like they just arrived at Disneyland. He, at least, remembers to lock up the Speeder. Grab their day bags.

When did HE become the responsible one?

The argue over shows. Obviously. Wouldn't be Fenton's otherwise. HE wants to see the alien one. It's from mars! But it's his sister's trip, as his dad points out, so she gets to choose. She picks a musical set during the Fall of Krpton. He's... reluctantly kinda interested. I mean, EVERYBODY likes Superman, right?

It's... it's amazing. Terrible, but amazing. I mean? A coming of age story cut tragically short? Oof. Hello, massively projecting then getting FEELS about it! Yeah, sure, rip my heart out why don't you? He's fine. No, really! Just drowning in his own emotions over here. The refrain of "A Life Well Lived"? *gargling dying whale noises* he's FINE. Not grappling with anything! Go on without him!

Thankfully?

They DO sell CDs.

He... he may end up, kinda, getting a bit of a collection. Going on the weekends, hoping show to show. Wandering to whichever catches his eye in the moment. Buying the CDs for one's he likes. Which? Honestly is a lot of them. Even though there's all sorts of genres and languages. Cause it... it RESONATES you know?

The grief. The anger. The "I have died but I wasn't FINISHED. It isn't FAIR.". And? Something about ghost speak flows so BEAUTIFULLY in song? It's hard to explain. But he... he needs them.

A pair of headphones, a CD, and a clear night sky? Nothing touches it. It's like a trance made of light. Like he can just drift.

The problem? Is the CDs are kinda... Zone made? They're radioactive, for one. Nothing a Fenton CD player can't handle. But... they? Also? Kinda fuckin GLOW? Like... very, very noticeably. And not in a "ha ha, cool glow in the dark paint!" Sorta way.

.........but like FUCK is he leaving his music behind when he goes to college. Gotham will have to deal. It's already a burning shit-nado, it can handle this. Probably. He'll put um in a lead lined box. Actually, speaking OF.... he needs to get a few more of those... *goes back to packing*

Which? Is how? The Bats are treated to some of the most HAUNTING music they've ever heard, belted and crooned from Some Guy's speakers, out an open window, on the "stop for a mid-patrol drink of water and a snack" building. It's one of the intersections of their patrol routes. And THAT? That is some dude listening to a Romani ballad about death and the circus. Now it's a musical about the trenches of an obscure war.

Okay, that was DEFINITELY Kryptonian. Like... coherent Krypto- *Bruce gets a call from Clark on his "work" number DEMANDING to know where that is coming from. Who is that voice Bruce?!* huh.... Well Then.

Non Shrike AU content yet again but idea where Danny takes on being a superhero more or less out of Amity Park once he's slightly older. Danny continues to go by Phantom. He's a sudden unknown with a rogue gallery who seems to follow him no matter how quickly he travels from city to city. The destruction that follows him is hard to notice and as a result the Justice League attempts to intervene but it's leaving them questioning who exactly this new hero (or foe) is. He is able to go toe to toe with some of the veteran League members until he usually realizes he can't exactly win against them (experience vs. raw power doesn't always work in his favor) and runs away. The League is trying to get a grasp on his powers and abilities and in the end, since he doesn't seem fond of actually interacting with the League, Danny is deemed a threat. It's especially concerning when some members spy him lingering on the edges of Earth's atmosphere star gazing.

Danny views the situation differently, he's trying to contain ghosts appearing from an influx of natural ghost portals throughout the country while juggling being a freshman in university. His goal is get them under controlled as quick as possible, no time for banter, no time to interact with the local heros. He has a job to do. However when the Justice League starts coming after him he believes they realize he's a ghost/part ghost and trying to detain him under the ecto acts. He's terrified and views them as a threat so of course he's going to fight them if they try to get to close.

Danny is eventually captured by Superman after a rogue battle in Metropolis that was extremely difficult so having Superman come in directly after was a losing battle from the start. He's taken to the Watch Tower and given cuffs and a collar that blocks/dampens meta abilities and it manages to actually work on Danny. He refuses to cooperate with any members who try to question him since it's pointless to fight against them now that he's captured. Danny views himself steps away from being fully dead as he believes the Justice League will hand him over to the Men in White once they're finished with him.

A little while ago while hanging out at the manor for game night, Stephanie introduced the family to another one of her current favorite artist.

This was nothing unusual, Steph had a new favorite artist almost every other week. But this one was different. It wasn't just a single person but a group that called themselves ‘Team Phantom’.

Every song was different as every song was sang by a different person. So there was a song for everyone, including Jason.

He feel in love with the soft smooth voice of ‘The Sister’. Her songs were so dreamy and melancholic, and told stories that he often couldn't understand but made him feel like if he were there doing whatever she was doing. Feeling whatever she was feeling.

It was amazing. Her voice was just so beautiful. So calming. So additive, the way it calmed the pits. He didn't know why but every time her songs played it was like the pits disappeared. And so did ever constant green haze that haunted him.

The sense of clarity he was left with when one of her songs ended was like a fuckin high and he couldn't get enough.

Long after the game night he sought after her music. Her songs. Her voice. It was his medicine and his drug. His addiction. Which sucked because just like every other addiction, withdrawal was a BITCH.

It's been six months since ‘The Sister’ has released a new song. Since ANY of Team Phantom had released any new songs. And it was really suspicious considering how consistent their schedules were. But that was okay, kinda. Life was life and maybe something happened. He'll just listen to her old songs on repeat like he's been doing for the last six months.

Is what he said until they posted a new video to their channel.

It wasn't the 3 to 4 minute animated or stagnant image music video he was uses to. Instead, it was a dark shaking video, as if someone was running. Then bright teal eyes appeared on the screen. Everything stopped for a moment. Then came the still soft and smooth but now trembling voice of ‘The Sister’.

She uttered a single word.

“Help.”

Before it ended and turned black.

It could honestly just be a prank. But something told him other wise.

Before he even decided what course of action he was going to take. A message came in through the family group chat. And from the Demon child no less.

‘We need to help Team Phantom. NOW!!!!!’

Everyone agreed.

And Jason felt very validated that he wasn't the only one secretly addicted to their music.

Now it's time to save Team Phantom.

DP x DC: Make Sweet Music Together

After Bruce passed on a tip about possible mass mind control, Jason and the outlaws infiltrate a music festival as one of the bands. Between him, Roy, and Starfire, they had the look, and after a bit of practice, they could half ass a performance if needed. Now they just had to find the cause, and hopefully before they actually had to play. Three days of noise and sweaty unwashed festival goers while they watch their suspect, what could go wrong?

Danny, older and hopefully wiser, had lost his home. He could not go back to Amity Park, without risking his (half)life and that ate at him. His missed his friends, his home, his haunt, but they were out of reach from him. 

Losing his home was a bigger blow than any physical one he’d ever received. Ghosts are purely emotion and thought. Mental wounds cause far more damage than anything else. Not fist, blasters, or scalpels could compare. He was a weakened shell of his former self, always in need of something more. 

And Ember had helped him fill that need. She had found him, shivering and alone, and had taken him under her wing. She had trained him, showed him how to make music, make others happy with it, and fill that need. She had given him a purpose, and he was grateful. 

When a tall man bult like a tank started cozying up to him, Danny thought things might not be so bad. Sure, he had their big show to get ready for, but there wasn’t any harm in enjoying the festival with this “Tod Peters”

Jason is investigating Danny and Ember with the Outlaws. Jason charms Danny for information, and finds himself genuinely enjoying Danny’s company. Starfire and Roy might also get involved if we want to make if poly(which I kind of do)

Kay kinda related to the Siren of Iceberg Lounge, basically spawned from it. But what if the villain that took Danny in after Danny winds up in the DC verse (possibly due to his universe collapsing for extra angst) was Music Meister. Cause you see this is a villain wh would take advantage of a grieving young adult who can manipulate emotions with his voice. (Possibly new power or side effect of his wail/ghostly powers.)

And what musical genius wouldn't want their own Song Bird? Especially if he figures out a way to control Danny too. Cause he can control others via his own music, so use it on Danny to trust and obey? Cause well Danny is vulnerable right now and exhausted, too weak to fight even mentally. And it's been shown that his power even works if it's a recording.

What better way to make a big comeback then with a over powered sidekick who can manipulate others emotions when he sings? And with Meister dueting, just how powerful could they.

Fuck heavily emotional songs like Would Anyone Care by Citizen Soldier would have a heavy fucking impact when sung with the purpose of drowning someone in the emotions. Controlling their actions-such as inciting riots or worse.

But also what if- Danny due to his dual nature is stuck in his head watching everything that happens and has some resistance which is why Meister has to keep a recording of his voice playing in special earbuds. Danny visibly struggles against his orders and the song choice. Even sometimes changing the song in the middle of an performance.

Could even have him singing Done With Everything by Line So Thin whilst he tries to break through the control. Cause the lyrics are banging and fit.

what piercings does Danny have in your CFAU?

Danny’s got double lobe piercings on both ears, and then helixes, and an orbital on one side! Then he’s got an eyebrow piercing on the right side of his face. I don’t have any particular reason for why he’s got piercings as an adult, I just thought it’d be a fun way to indicate a physical change from when he was 14 and last saw the Waynes, to the next time they see him. Although with this version of Danny (rather than my original, unserious beta version of CFAU), it probably would follow that he'd potentially get piercings when he was older. (So not a total shock)

Sam bartends at a dodgy old pub and is studying law. Her music taste is heavily influenced by what plays at the job so she enjoys classic rock like Danny, but also has a taste for some emerging indie bands and tries to catch as many gigs as she can. Give GRAZER a listen. (probably most exited to work on writing from her POV as I’ve got quite a few bartending stories from my first pub that I need to air out lol)

Jazz is studying psychology, she’s super into surf-rock and studying/reading on the beach. Favourites include Mako Road and Skegss.
