So.... I'm doing it because it looked like fun! I've been coming off a rough time, and I think this might help. So...
Rules: Make a 24 hr poll of all your current WIPs, let it run, and write one sentence for every vote the winner receives.
I would like to open this up to anyone and everyone who also thinks it would be fun but hasn't been tagged, because everyone should get to do what they want! Also I'm farm fresh chicken and terrible at interactions
Go forth and share your creations!

Eres un pollo 🐓✨
This is inspired by @greekmythcomix (really cute) Greek myth/Ancient Roman chicken series. They're all so charming, I had to try my hand at it.

Can Percy Jackson survive Castle Dracula?
To cut to the chase: Yes. But the more I think about it, the more I realize that he is *insanely* well prepared for this encounter.
First off, Dracula did not invite young Mr. Jackson to the castle. Percy took a wrong turn and stumbled in there by accident while on some other quest to recover a magic doodad or stop the evil whatsit, because that's what he does! (I love that the PJO books really take the "greek adventurer wanders around and has unconnected adventures" structure to heart.) But once he's in there, Dracula is delighted to take him in as a guest--canonically, halfbloods smell delicious to monsters. Taste delicious too. Percy is exactly the kind of snack he'd get excited about.
Fortunately, Percy would be on his guard pretty much immediately. The whole "monster pretends to be a gracious host and then tries to imprison and eat you" stunt gets pulled on him about every other week. Plus he's armed with a celestial bronze sword, which is specially forged to vaporize monsters. I dunno that Dracula would follow greek myth monster rules and vaporize per se, but I think it's reasonable that Riptide would be an effective weapon against him. And crucially, Dracula can't take it it away from Percy, since it is enchanted to always reappear in his pocket no matter how it gets lost. (And extremely useful trait for an ADHD teen that I wish my belongings had.)
But it gets better. Let's go into the specifics:
The Crucifix: Percy would accept it. He's used to receiving seemingly nonsensical gifts from people that save his life later at crucial moments. Plus he knows that gods and supernatural beings are real, even though he's not christian-religious, I think he would recognize the woman's sincerity in her belief that it would protect him.
Shaving: He's too young to shave! No confrontation here.
Going exploring: He 100% would. Percy never follows directions when someone says "don't go there." I could list at least 10 examples right now of him wandering off when he's explicitly told to stay put.
The Girlies: Percy has been known get distracted by hypnosis by female monsters before, but he's pretty good at snapping out of it. I think he's likely to clock 'em as enemies pretty quickly and get his sword out, at which point he should be able to fend them off.
Climbing the wall: One of the standard training activities at Camp Halfblood is a rock wall that undergoes earthquakes and pours lava on you. I think he'll be fine.
Wolves: Small beans compared to other monsters he's fought. Plus, Percy has an empathy link with his satyr friend Grover that allows them to communicate through dreams, especially when one of them is distress. If Percy is stuck at the castle long enough, then I think by the time he gets to facing the wolves there would have been enough time for Grover to get the memo and come help him--and Grover can talk to animals! So there's a good chance he can just talk the wolves down and not even have to fight them.
But I don't think it would come that. No, I think the biggest issue Percy would face is that he would force a confrontation with Dracula MUCH soon, probably within the first few days of entering the castle. Percy isn't particularly polite, and he has a bad habit of talking back and picking fights with powerful supernatural entities that already want to whoop his ass. (He picks a fight with the God of War as an eleven year old, and that's how the series starts.) Add that to the fact that he'll already be on high alert for monsters, and I think he'll be in a flat out combat with Dracula before the roasted chicken has cooled on his plate.
Fortunately, Percy is quite the accomplished swordsman. As mentioned, I think celestial bronze would be an effective weapon against Dracula. Unfortunately, Percy won't have access to one of his biggest advantages--water! Being a son of Poseidon would be very useful given vampires' aversion to running water, but I don't think there are any sources close enough to the castle for him to call on. In extreme situations, Percy does have an Ultimate he can use to call forth the sea from within his own body, but it wipes him out pretty thoroughly, and if he used that I think he would be at risk of dying in the woods after unless his friends showed up to get him somewhere safe. But even without water powers, I think Percy would put up a very good fight against Dracula and have a good chance of making it out alive.
...there's one more wildcard which might get played in his favor, which is that the greek gods love jumping in on his quests at the last minute with some divine intervention. So even if things go south fighting Dracula, I could see some kind of literal deus ex machina showing up at the last moment to give him the last push to victory.
So yeah. Castle Dracula would end up being just one more pesky side quest. XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aw man I was actually going to answer this one. Buuuuut I've had all week and I didn't so I can't complain.
N.B. I have not yet seen the new TV series, so hereinafter we will be talking about the books.
I think you're absolutely right about Percy stumbling haplessly into Castle Dracula, which is a bummer because it robs us of the Calèche ride, which is our only real opportunity to have Percy use his Poseidon powers by talking to the horses. I want to see Dracula's horses chatting with each other about the fresh meat, being nervous about the wolves, changing their tone in a truly disturbing way as Dracula calms them ... and Percy sitting in the back listening in like "I'm in Danger 🙃." He may not speak Romanian, but he might well be adequately warned by the horses.
One place where I am going to disagree with you a bit is the Celestial Bronze. Monster in this setting is a technical term - a species, really. Dracula is not a Monster in the Greek Mythology sense - he's just a guy. A human born to human parents who then got upgraded. So Percy's sword isn't going to turn him to sand and return him to Tartarus, because he is fundamentally not a creature of Tartarus. Now, does Dracula count as human for Celestial Bronze purposes? Will Riptide pass harmlessly through him? Maybe not. Maybe it's still at least a long sharp piece of metal and can be weilded as such. (Of course, if he goes after Dracula at night, it'll still pass harmlessly through him, but for unrelated reasons).
I agree that he will clock the Girlies as enemies immediately - as you say, this kind of thing happens to him all the time. I am less confident than you are that he could simply snap out of a trance, something that happens neither in the novel Dracula nor, to my recollection, in the PJO books. Usually iirc he is rescued from hypnosis via some sort of outside influence - much as Jonathan is woken by the baying of dogs the second time the Girlies come after him. I feel like Percy would give us some self-effacing narration to the effect of "now you're probably thinking - why did you just lie there!? You know they're vampires! And you'd right, because I was thinking that too! But for some reason I just couldn't seem to move. Man, I hate being hypnotized." That said, attacking something that can dissolve into moonlight with a sword is a good way to get dead, so it's just as well.
I agree that he will be able to manage the wall, and yeah, once he gets outside the castle, he's a good candidate for divine intervention or just another wacky encounter. He's so good at being rescued and/or nursed back to health by things. And the more I think about it, the more the wolves being organized by Grover as a rescue is exactly the kind of thing they would pull. "Oh no, I'm being ripped apart by woooooolves~~~"
Despite his battle reflex and excellent skills, I'm not convinced Percy could best Dracula in a direct fight, but he might be able to match him well enough to fall or jump out the window and escape. Alternatively, do Percy's demigod powers let him control Dracula while in mistform?? If so, Dracula will NOT be pleases.
As for general pugnaciousness, I dunno. He does pick fights with Ares but I don't know that he'd start something with an extremely scary dude whose house he is trapped on - unless he's deliberately trying to provoke him for some advantage. He does go in for the "get the other guy so angry it makes them stupid" approach quite a lot. But I don't know if he's try that on Dracula. He might well go for the "keep your head down and try not to get murdered" approach.
Percy's Fatal Flaw (tm) is his devotion to his friends, but since they're not here that's unlikely to be a problem. His ordinary flaw is that he's stupid (affectionate) - but again that might work to his advantage here. Because he is genuinely very stupid, no one ever expects him to be clever, and he's clever enough to lean into that. If he can play dumb and keep his anger in check, he might well last long enough to escape. And as you say, Dracula has an interest in keeping him around, because he smells delicious.
So on I guess precisely opposite reasoning, Perseus "Percy" Jackson, half-blood son of Poseidon, can survive Castle Dracula

Do you have any headcanons about the other parents of the VKs?
YES
Evil Queen used Evie as a servant for most of her life, only stopping when she realized how dirty Evie was getting
Cruella tried to train Carlos with a dog whistle and a spray bottle - but with the water on the Isle being so dirty and likely toxic it caused Carlos to get sick. While Cruella didn't care about that, she didn't want to get sick, so she stopped with the spray bottle, and then with the whistle after finally realizing that he couldn't hear it. (The Isle made her a lot more unstable)
Jafar has tried to arrange marriages for Jay with those on the Isle who might be able to have wealth in Auradon, such as the Evil Step-Granddaughters and the Queen of Hearts daughter, but it never worked out. He's tried multiple times to pair Jay off with Mal.
Gaston takes his boys out "hunting"... make of that what you will.
Gaston also managed to bribe one of the Auradon guards to bring over some chickens and a rooster so each of his boys, and himself, can have five dozen eggs a day.
Hans is actually a pretty decent father. If you ignore the fact that he's taught his kid(s) all his manipulation tactics. That aside, he's also taught them how to read, write, mathmatics, history, etiquet, etc.
Smee loves his kids, but he isn't exactly always there for them. Because of this, Sammy took care of his brothers growing up more than his father did.
Anastasia is a good mom. Along with taking care of her own kids, she takes care of a lot of the orphans on the island. And Dizzy has practically become hers.
On a similar note, Drizella is not a good mother and has A LOT of children, all girls. Some of her girls are as high-strung and rotten as she is, but the younger ones (like Dizzy) have become little "Cinderella's".
Surprisingly, Lady Tremaine tried to stop it, but never succeeded.
Ursula taught Uma all the Greek myths and legends, and would repeatedly tell her that one day they'd get off the island.
While he's an amazing father to Celia, Dr. Facilier wasn't the greatest dad to Freddie and does regret it (even if he won't admit it)
Like Hans, Captain Hook made sure his kids knew how to read and write. He also taught Harriet and Harry how to read maps, create maps, as many constellations as he could remember (many drawn out on paper), swordfighting, and pretty much everything that goes along with being a pirate. (He would have taught CJ, but after his wife's death he pulled away from her - CJ looks the most like the siblings mother)
Mother Gothel treats Ginny like a maid, but isn't the worst parent. The worst she's done is drag on Ginny's appearance to make herself look better (which is bad, but on an island of villains, better than a lot of kids get). Somewhere in her, she might love Ginny, but at the end of the day Mother Gothel is an incredibly selfish woman.
(A similar headcanon that can also be true is that Mother Gothel is actually Ginny's grandmother, and Ginny is Cassandra's daughter only Cassandra willingly let her mother raise Ginny in order to protect her as Cass isn't the most popular on the Isle)
The Huntsman has taught his kids everything he knows and they do animal control - they can't really harm the original hyenas who were thrown on the Isle, but they can take care of the never ones.
Morgana kept having children in hopes that eventually one would transform while under the barrier, but it never happened. Over the course of twenty years, she managed to have 15 children and had to open up her own school.
Edgar lives quietly in his very run down apartment in the square where he and his son run an animal grooming business. With how many "evil animal sidekicks" there are, it goes surprisingly well. He has to leave the room whenever a cat comes in, though, so Eddie does a lot of the word.
Yzma tends to conduct very dangerous experiments in her attempt to do magic.
The Stabbington Brothers have raised their children together, so the Stabbington Cousins are really more like siblings. With that said, the brothers have been determined to raise children who will become better thieves than Flynn Rider, and better fighters than themselves. The fighting has gone good, but the they're never satisfied with the Cousins thievery thanks to Jay always managing to beat them.

My condolences for the containment breach I get how having thousands of ppl say the same joke over and over in the notes of your genuine analysis post can get annoying 😭 😭😭😭 I’m extremely down to hear more about the differences between the ninth and tenth doctors if you have any other insights you want to share though!!! I’ve been turning your post over and over in my brain like a rotisserie chicken ever since I read it it’s so good
omg thank you for your condolences...it really is the containment breach of all time...let me think!! I have a MAJOR tenth doctor video essay I may or may not make so here are the cliff notes:
-To begin. Anne Carson wrote that to live beyond the end of your myth is a perilous thing.
-in many ways, the 10th Doctor is cursed from his inception b/c he is born at the end of the Doctor and Rose's romantic arc (from a certain point of view) AND YET he is born sheerly out of love for her / to love her
-(we all know the fanon--or is it canon?--idea that Ten's face was subconciously selected to be one that Rose would like, and he's gone for her from the beginning...hello, The Christmas Invasion.)
-all that said, by the time The Parting of the Ways occurs, Rose and Nine have completed a full narrative arc:
-Nine whisked Rose away from the life of boredom and sheltered drudgery she experienced on the estate; she brought life back into the eyes of a hardened war veteran/The Last of the Time Lords
-more importantly, they complete a kind of mutualistic ultimate sacrifice (in a Shakesperian sense?) wherein Rose 'becomes' the Doctor by absorbing the literal heart of the TARDIS (we don't have time to get into that) and erasing the Daleks into dust, finishing the last of the Time War AND saving the Doctor's life
-he immediately returns the favor, absorbing the energy that's destroying her with a kiss (let it be known--the ONLY kiss between the Doctor and Rose Tyler proper--neither Tentoo or Cassandra really count imo), returning her to humanity, life, and safety
-all that said, Nine dies both saving AND being saved by Rose in a kind of unrivaled (?) parity between Doctor and companion. it's perfect synthesis.
-THEN 10 is born. uh-oh.
It is here that I would like to quote Michael Kinnucan's fabulous essay 'The Gods Show Up' on Greek tragedies:
The tragic hero is complete. You can call him unhappy (miserable, utterly broken) even before he is dead. For an instant he is something like divine. And then he dies, because there’s nothing left to do. The center of every tragedy is the image of a human being who has already died but keeps talking, someone whose face is a mask.
I think one of the most fascinating 10 v. 9 moments is that one scene that got cut where Rose says "I miss him." and the Doctor replies "Me too."
As many people in the notes of that original post point out (god help me) 10 is ALSO born IMMEDIATELY into heartbreak--whatever vestigal version of Nine lives inside him died with the despair of losing Rose
-TEN is the man that went sauntering away. perhaps that's part of why Ten is so terrified of/resentful towards regeneration. I think he's lived precisely the worst cost of it.
-The notion of 'talking after death' and 'wearing a face that's a mask' is a existentialist take on regeneration itself--ten EPITOMIZES this tragic hero archetype, esp. after Doomsday (literally! Doomsday!!)
-during his life, I wonder if Nine already considers himself lost in a sense? He's lived past the Time War, past the destruction of everything, and he's also the first NuWho Doctor. HIS ability to indulge in love (even in mortality, given his short lifespan) is different.
-TEN on the other hand has that INCREDIBLY frightening (for him) confrontation with Sarah Jane in School Reunion--knitting him back into canon continuum of Doctor Who, stitching him to the myth of The Doctor that has to live on and on and on in perpetuity--and seems VERY haunted by (im)mortality
-How much time does Ten spend running from Jack? A human being who CAN follow him to the end of time? Ten can't decide if he wants to be mortal or immortal, human or Time Lord. Think of the way he acts with Martha, with Wilf, with Donna. He is totally frozen inside of the space of his seasons. He has time paralysis (fatal, for a Time Lord)
-he is the first doctor that we see reallllly try to stave off regeneration
-That's why there's a certain frantic escapism to his adventures with Rose in S2--he knows, more than she does, that they are hurtling toward's disaster.
-he can't love Rose in a consumate way, even if he wanted to (he wants to) b/c he's trapped inside of his myth. he's like sisyphus. or that guy getting his liver ripped out by the eagle. Nine and Rose are lines that can cross. Ten and Rose are parallel lines. if they touch, the universe dissolves. hence why the narrative/God/Russel T. Davies had to lock her away in another universe
anways!
Ten once canonically carved a statue of Rose by hand with every inch of her body absolutely perfect, from memory, and I think that's crazy

I’m a straight Bengali girl (daughter of Aphrodite), who’s a little chubby and has a lot of acne scars (both of which I’m insecure about, though, I’ve been staring to like my acne scars lately). I wear glasses and without them, the world around me is very blurry. I’m pretty shy and nervous, so I sort of have trouble speaking to strangers or people I don’t know well. But once I’m comfortable around you and we mutually see each other as friends, I’m able to show you my chaotic side and feel comfortable saying some pretty wild things. I also make quite a few sexual jokes. Though I am more comfortable to speak freely with my friends, if I’m in a relatively big group that consists of my friends, I get really nervous speaking in front of all of them, so I opt to talk to individuals rather than the collective. I crave for physical affection but I never ask for it because I’ll feel bad if I get rejected of such, so I’ll wait til someone decide to give me affection. I’m a huge romantic fan and love reading romance stories or fanfic, and I love men who are completely obsessed with you. If I’m going to be honest, I feel more attracted to depressed or sad men rather than happy or cheerful men. I love eating food, but don’t really like eating in front of people much cause I always feel like I’m being judge for the way I eat even if that’s not actually the case. I can’t help it, so I prefer to eat alone. My favourite food is chicken curry and rice! I have trouble keeping eye contact so I usually look somewhere else while talking to people, but I do occasionally (while in the conversation) do make eye contact. There are times where it takes time for my brain to process some situations or dialogue, and I have an awfully memory. I also hate reading out load cause my brain takes time to process the words on the paper for me to read out load, so it makes me say the words out load slowly and almost choppy, you know? I love my friends very much and always love to hang out with them, even if we are simply in a room together only doing our own thing. I just like being in their presence. Though, once my social battery runs out, I’d like to be alone in my room (though, I I have a romantic partner, I wouldn’t mind them being with me). I’m always open to be their for my friends if they are down and listen to their problems, but not good at verbally comforting them, so I’m open for providing them physical comfort such as a hug or rubbing their back if that’s what they want. If I don’t anything embarrassing, I will constantly think about the moment for years and best myself over it and mentally redo that whole conversation or action in a way better way that I should have done to have not embarrassed myself earlier, you know? I very kind and often give people the benefit of the doubt, and I’m sort of a pushover, but I’m still able to say no to situations that make me uncomfortable.
I love reading, drawing, and creating ocs and world building. I’m such a mythology nerd, especially when it comes to Greek mythology (I have many books about these myths). I absolutely hate bugs and because of them, I hate being in forests and such cause I always get swarmed by them. I’m also afraid of the dark, so when I sleep, I leave my door open and the hallway light on.
My matchups are usually long like this so that’s why they may take a little while to come out 🥸 pls bear with me guys 🫶
Hope you like it anon!! Have a great day and tysm for requesting!!! <3
I match you with…
Luke Castellan!!
(Let’s all collectively join hands and pretend he didn’t die 🫰)
After the second titan war was officially over, Luke went through a lot before finally being able to return to camp
He did literally stab himself to end Kronos’s reign of terror, so after a long fight discussion amongst the gods, it was decided he should be given a second chance at life. A brand new start
Not without cleaning his mess first though. He was assigned by the gods to send a load of monsters he recruited for Kronos back to Tartarus, while simultaneously healing from his fatal wound
Even under Apollo’s direct care, the injury left a huge, nasty scar on his body
Honestly, he preferred facing whatever punishment Hades had for him in the Underworld than helping any god. But he owed everyone (specially Annabeth and Thalia, his real family) an apology and to make things right
So he killed a shitload of monsters, (complained the whole time)
When he finally got back to camp, he almost couldn’t believe how much it had changed. The place was PACKED with new campers (and they were not all cramped in his cabin like usual 😱)
And there were twice as many cabins too??? for the smaller gods???
Was he at the right place?😀 Was he actually dead?🧍‍♂️
Took a lot of explaining for him to believe he wasn’t
The thought of demigods not having to go through what he went through was incredible, but hard to believe
A bit bittersweet for him too
On top of that, it took a lot of time and effort to regain everyone’s trust on him
Even with all the new space available in the Hermes cabin, he had to sleep on the ground for a long time before his siblings let him have a bed 💀
He had to prove himself for a long time before everyone started opening up to him again
Slowly but surely, it started to happen!! Annabeth and most of the campers got back to speaking terms with him, Thalia visited sometimes and Percy was still a little sus every time they interacted (specially when Annabeth was in the room🤷‍♀️) but it eventually got better
It wasn’t the same as before of course, which made him feel…lonely most of the time. It wasn’t perfect, but he was grateful for at least not being completely ignored
Travis and Connor even stole a new pillow for him after a while of him sleeping without any 👏
Soon enough, life was almost normal again (as normal as a demigod’s life could get)
He did live with an imense sense of guilt and had recurring nightmares about what happened, accompanied with sharp pains on his chest, right where he stabbed himself
But it was a small price to pay for all the pain he caused, he thought
Eventually, he became head counselor of the Herme’s cabin again and Chiron gave him permission to teach sword lessons to the newest campers.
Life was as good as it could get for him, for sure
Though it definitely got a million times better with you in it
You were one of the new campers, practically Luke’s age when you arrived, which got yourself urgent self defense lessons with Mr. Castellan himself
He was the ideal person for the job, being the best swordsman on camp and all
Chiron also knew Luke had a way of making newcomers feel welcomed, being used to do it with practically every new kid in camp before the war
So, as Luke made his way to your first lesson, he tried to come up with a way to politely ask you how you survived all this time without proper training-
Only to give it up as soon as he laid his eyes on you
Of course you were a daughter of Aphrodite, you were drop dead gorgeous. Probably survived all this time outside camp by using the power her kids inherited, charmspeak
All of that was going through his head while he intensely stared at you without saying a word 🗿
Making you nervously eye him back 👁️👁️
Noticing you were getting anxious, he snapped out of it, the very tip of his ears getting slightly red
Quickly introducing himself as your new self defense teacher, he offered a hand for you to shake
To which you did after a bit of an awkward pause, nodding at his words. He seemed like a confident, nice guy
He took it you were a bit shy so he made sure to try and not to make you uncomfortable while teaching you some basic sword moves and techniques
You were doing your best to keep up but honestly felt like straight up dying everytime Luke asked you to repeat a move
The sword was heavy and the afternoon was hot, making you sweat profusely
That’s when everything went downhill :)
Your glasses just wouldn’t stay still in your face, the sweat making them slip down your nose every time you tried a new move
Right as you were about to swing your sword for the millionth time, your glasses fully fell off your face, making you flail the big weapon around uncontrollably
Coincidentally chopping a good amount of Chiron’s tail off, who was just passing by to check on your progress
Chiron promised he needed a new trim anyway, but that didn’t stop you from apologizing almost a thousand times and sitting down with your face buried in your hands
The situation amused Luke profusely, but he could also tell you were seriously beating yourself up about it
So after thinking for a while, he gently tapped you on the arm, showing you small scar he had on his forearm
He told you it was from his first ever sword lesson, but it wasn’t caused by a sword
When you gave him a confused look, he told you it was a consequence of accidentally poking a Pegasus’s bottom with a sharp weapon
You tried not to, but you laughed right at his face
Which made Luke smile as well, you had a cute laugh
After that, you slowly started opening up to your sword teacher, who actually got attached to you pretty quickly
Y’alls friendship was honestly precious oml, he absolutely LIVED for the fact that you were completely unhinged when y’all were alone, which got both of you a lot of inside jokes
When you first made a sexual joke in front of him he was completely shook
You were in the middle of training, making him accidentally cut a whole training doll in half after you said it
Who knew that something like that could come out of a shy person like yourself
He laughed and threw a dirty joke right back at you, but his ears were completely red in the process
The first time he had one of his pain streaks next to you he got really stressed out, not really wanting to talk about the origin of his injury
Partially because it was tremendously hard for him to talk about his past, but also because he was afraid you’d hate him for it
But you never pressured him to say anything, just sat beside him with a hand on his back for support, furrowed brows in concern as you waited for his pain to pass
He absolutely adored you for that
He didn’t feel alone anymore
He’s a naturally attentive person so he can always tell when you’re uncomfortable in social situations, always making sure that everything you’re saying is getting the correct amount of attention, even if he was the only one listening to it
Everyone knew he kind of had a soft spot for you (totally unrelated to the crush he was developing on you)
He always went easy on you at sparring lessons, just to absolutely humiliate whoever was next against him by winning in seconds
He sneaked food into your cabin when you absolutely could not stand eating with everyone else at the dining pavilion
(anyone else would probably get caught in the act and get absolutely wrecked by the harpies, but he was a son of the god of thieves so 😋)
Kept you close during capture the flag, not only to keep an eye on you but also because he absolutely LIVED for the fact that you were more scared of the bugs than the monsters who lived inside the woods
You dealt with the monsters and he jabbed all the bugs on the way, you made a pretty good team
It was pretty obvious he had a thing for you, everyone knew about it but you apparently
I mean, he stole got you a whole deck of mythomagic cards because he knew you were totally obsessed with mythology, the guy was pretty much down bad for you pls 😩
And honestly, you felt the exact same way
It was pretty clear in the way your face got full on red every time he had any type of physical contact with you
He adored it and absolutely did it on purpose just to get a reaction out of you
He wanted to let you know how he felt, he really did
But on top of not wanting to risk your friendship, he was deathly afraid you’d absolutely despise him after you found out about his past
It was only a matter of time anyway, but he was going to avoid it as much as he could
Although you found out way sooner and it went WAY better than he expected
It was a warm night and you were awfully quiet, more than usual
It wasn’t because your social battery went out. No… he knew something was up by the way you hugged yourself tightly, touching your face from time to time
He asked if you wanted to hang out by the beach for a bit, to which you silently agreed
Y’all sat in silence for a while, Luke giving you concerned side eyes from time to time
He eventually spoke up, saying you could talk to him about anything you wanted to, he’d listen
Your eyes watered a bit. You breathed out and eventually told him that some days, you had a bit of trouble accepting your current weight and your acne scars
You told him you were working on it but some days were harder than others
Honestly, he was bamboozled lol
He could never imagine someone as beautiful as you had those kind of insecurities
Before even thinking about it, he said you were absolutely perfect in his eyes
It was the first thing he thought when he met you actually
You almost choked on air bro WHAT
Your face was COMPLETELY red, about to explode🚨
Ears fully red after realizing how he slipped, he quickly continued, telling you that he also understood how you felt
He touched the scar he had on his face, lowering his hand to touch the one on his chest right after
You knew something bad had happened to him. But you also knew he had to tell you on his own terms
You just softly repeated what he told you
“You can talk to me about anything you want to, I’ll listen”
His eyes met yours and you were surprised by how much sadness they held in that moment
He shifted his gaze from you to the sand, taking handfulls of it just to let it fall from his fingers as he told you about his past
He told you everything
“You can… cut contact with me if you want to, I’ll understand-“
He was suddenly interrupted by you hugging him
He was surprised to say the least, arms slowly closing around you after some time as he let out a shaky breath
You both sat like that for a while before you told him that none of what he said changed the way you felt about him, everyone deserved a second chance
Wait
The way… you felt about him?
Oop
He pulled apart from you gently, still holding you close in front of him
“Exactly how do you feel about me?”
You had no choice but to confess, face fully red and straight up stuttering the whole time
He smile was HUGE oh my gods that little shit was enjoying every second of it
When you finished, you were trembling a bit, afraid you just ruined the best friendship you ever had
Imagine your surprise when he slowly leaned in, kissing you

My headcanons fallowing jimmy’s last episode
The entire time jimmy has been 15 and hit puberty very late just at the end that is why he jumped at the chance to have a mentor
also explains his rivalry with Joel in Greek myths gods are rather immature something about having enough power to do what ever you want with no consequences makes gods act like hormonal teens
I think this jimmy is evo Jimmy
Jimmy was a 14 year old freshman and grian was 19 a senior that was held back a year
It has been a year since evo ended so grian is 20 and Jimmy is 15 which makes his later bullying of Jimmy hilarious because he’s a young adult picking on a teenager
He is the old sheriffs son I know the time is off because the old sheriffs said he was down there for thirty years but the only reason he knew that that was because he added 10 years for each chicken that died but chickens live 5-10 years so what if all the three chickens only lived 5 years each that would put him in there for 15 years
Just after his youngest son was born
I think the sheriff might have suspected it due to his repeated statements that Jimmy is tiny and has wings like a fairy because jimmy’s mom is a fae
The sheriff and jimmy’s mom met in the town because that area was always a hotspot for fae activity
The reason the sheriff didn’t leave his wife even though he didn’t want to be married is because she was a fae and was scared he would be cursed if he angered her and that is also why he started drinking

The Background Characters Of Ever After High
Hey Alexa, play Who Is She by I Monster
credits to @eah-backgrounders for all the ideas/inspirations.
So if you're a fan of EAH, than you know about the background characters.... they're absolutely beautiful but literally who the hell are they? (And why are the animators making literally the best and prettiest background characters and letting them go to waste?)
This is basically like a catalog of the background characters, I'm gonna try to fit this into part 1. Again credits to @eah-backgrounders.
Feel free to comment name ideas or who you think the characters are.
#1: Red and Purple Haired Girl
Tumblr media
This is the daughter from the German fairytale The seven Ravens (she doesn’t have a name yet). She was seated on the rebel side for Legacy Day, obviously because Raven is taken, I feel like she should have a bird name.
If you're too lazy to search it up: "A peasant has seven sons and no daughter. Finally a daughter is born, but is sickly. The father sends his sons to fetch water for her, in the German version to be baptized, in the Greek version to take water from a healing spring. In their haste, they drop the jug in the well. When they do not return, their father thinks that they have gone off to play and curses them and so they turn into ravens. When the sister is grown, she sets out in search of her brothers. She attempts to get help first from the sun, which is too hot, then the moon, which craves human flesh, and then the morning star. The star helps her by giving her a chicken bone (in the German) or a bat's foot (in the Greek) and tells her she will need it to save her brothers. She finds them on the Glass Mountain. In the Greek version, she opens it with the bat's foot, in the German, she has lost the bone, and chops off a finger to use as a key, (or she opens it with chicken bone). She goes into the mountain, where a dwarf tells her that her brothers will return. She takes some of their food and drink and leaves, in the last cup, a ring from home. When her brothers return, she hides. They turn back into human form and ask who has been at their food. The youngest brother finds the ring, and hopes it is their sister, in which case they are saved. She emerges, and they return home."
So since she's a female, I'm going to assume she's the eight child, I think that her name should be like Star or Eight, I'm not sure about the surname. Maybe Raven or Seven.
#2: Princess Wearing Blue and White
Tumblr media
Sandra Castle, her fairytale is the Polish Fairytale, The Glass Mountain. She can be seen in True Heart's Day with her boyfriend.
The Glass Mountain: The Polish story begins with: On a glass mountain grew a tree with golden apples. An apple would let the picker into the golden castle where an enchanted princess lived. Many knights had tried and failed, so that many bodies lay about the mountain. A knight in golden armor tried. One day, he made it halfway up and calmly went down again. The second day, he tried for the top, and was climbing steadily when an eagle attacked him. He and his horse fell to their deaths. A schoolboy killed a lynx and climbed with its claws attached to his feet and hands. Weary, he rested on the slope. The eagle thought he was carrion and flew down to eat him. The boy grabbed it, and it, trying to shake him off, carried him the rest of the way. He cut off its feet and fell into the apple tree. The peels of the apples cured his wounds, and he picked more, to let him into the castle. He married the princess. The blood of the eagle restored to life everyone who had died trying to climb the mountain.
I believe the boy she was with in True Heart's Day is the schoolboy she's supposed to marry because he looks like a regular ol' schoolboy.
#3: Jamie Hook
Tumblr media
The myth, the legend, the baddest alive. Jamie Hook, literally one of the most iconic background characters ever. Jamie Hook is obviously the daughter of Captain Hook. The main disagreement most people have is her name because I've seen Veronic, Jane, Jannett, Helen, but I think Jamie suits her best. Also I'm pretty sure she's dating Pan's daughter.
#4 Tulip Dress Girl (@arte-cat)
Tumblr media
Daughter of Princess Rosette from the fairytale of the same name. Her colors are a tribute to her father, the King of the Peacocks, and the flowers just represent the “rose” part of her name. I feel like she'd either be Rosetta Princess or Rosetta Peacock.
#5: Girl In Grey
Tumblr media
She's confirmed as Birch, the next Pitch Girl from the fairy tale Mother Holle. She's also twin sister with Grey-Haired Girl.
#6: Golden Haired Girl
Tumblr media
Miller Goldenstraw, Daughter of the Miller's daughter from Rumpelstiltskin.
#7: Orange Hair Girl
Tumblr media
She is the daughter of one of the Merry Men, from Robin Hood's lore, possibly Allan-a-Dale or Will Scarlet.
#8: Boy With Curly Hair
Tumblr media
Scottington Dee, the son of Tweedle Dee.
#9: Blue and Gold Girl
Tumblr media
It was confirmed by a team member from Guru Studios that she is the daughter of Yeh Shen, from the Chinese folktale with the same name.
#10: Girl In Orange
Tumblr media
She is most likely the daughter of an Hindu Mythology character, like Princess Sita and Prince Rama. Her story may also be from the One Thousands And One Nights or the Arabian Nights collection of stories, such as the princess from the story Aladdin. Her ensemble resembles that of India, from the way her head is adorned all the way down to her pointed shoes, as well as the pattern on her dress. There is also a possibility that she could be the trademarked Amber Midas considering her golden accessories and visibility.
#11: Unicorn Girl
Tumblr media
Daughter of the Unicorn who fights for the White King's crown with the Lion in Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There
#12: Lion Boy
Tumblr media
Son of the Lion in Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There.
#13: Butterfly Girl
Tumblr media
This is Cari Pillar, the daughter of the Caterpillar from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but she also could be related to the Bread-and-Butterfly, a Wonderlandian creature featured in Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There.
#14: Grey Haired Girl
Tumblr media
She is confirmed to be Maple, the next Golden Girl from the fairy tale Mother Holle, and the twin sister of Birch.
#15: Gold Jewelry Girl
Tumblr media
She may be the daughter of the Emperor, from the fairy tale of The Emperor's New Clothes, as her outfit incorporates fashion elements. Considering her feathery accessories, she could also be inspired from other bird-like fairy tales such as The Singing Springing Lark, The Crane Queen, Fitcher's Bird etc.
#16: Turqouise Haired Girl
Tumblr media
Irene of Augen, from the Two-Eyes, from One-Eye, Two-Eyes, and Three-Eyes fairy tale.
#17: Girl in White and Gold
Tumblr media
She's the daughter of Mother Goose. Her physical attire seem to be in reference to the nursery rhyme Old Mother Goose And The Golden Egg as this character has white and gold embellishments. Even though her story is confirmed, she is unnamed.
#18: Pixie Cut Haired Girl
Tumblr media
Her name is Phoenix, and she is the daughter of The Firebird.
#19: Wrist Watch Boy
Tumblr media
The son of the Little Prince from The Little Prince story. In the Destiny conflict he is likely a Rebel, because he supported Maddie for student council president. Again cliche, but I think his name would be Prince, he just gives off that vibe. Maybe he's named after his dad so he's a "Jr" or something.
#20: Orc Boy
Tumblr media
I don't know his story but according to a member of Guru Studios staff, his name is Lawrence Bonecrusher III.
#21: Long Haired Boy
Tumblr media
He was originally meant to be the next beast, from The Beauty and the Beast. He may be the destined to be the next King of Peacocks or The Bear Prince due to its similar concept. I think he might be either a Schoolboy or one of these things. He wants to follow his destiny because he is a Royal but he's also in a relationship Princess Wearing Blue and White in True Hearts Day, but  he had his arm around Turquoise Haired Girl, so maybe he and the Princess broke up to focus on their destinies.
#22: Orange Haired Prince
Tumblr media
His story is king of The Golden Mountain, he doesn't have a confirmed name so maybe it's like George Mountain or something like that.
#23: Droopy Hair Girl
Tumblr media
Due to her flowery appearance and stream like stockings, she is assumed to be the daughter of the Princess from the Moon, from The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.
#24: Skater Dude
Tumblr media
He may be the son of the Iron Stove Prince from The Iron Stove story by Brother's Grimm, but honestly idk. I think he likes DJ-ing, so maybe he's in a band. He's def a Rebel.
#25: Wavy Dressed Girl
Tumblr media
There are many assumptions about her like her being The Marsh King's Daughter from the story of the same name. She may be from the legend of the White and Green Snake. Several other stories may have inspired her aesthetic such as the fairytale Mossycoat or the swamp fairy from the story Little Daylight. But my personal favorite is her being the daughter of Ida, from the fairy tale Little Ida's Flowers.
#26: Teal Buns Girl
Tumblr media
She, along with Bob Cut Girl, may be based on evil witches in general. She may be the daughter of Mother Trudy, the villain of the fairy tale with the same name.
#27: Pastel Buns Girl
Tumblr media
She may be the daughter of the Sugar Plum Fairy, from the ballet The Nutcracker. She could also be the daughter of Jack Horner. I think that Sugar Plum Fairy suits her better because I was thinking her name could be Sadie Plumfairy.
#28: Black Haired Girl
Tumblr media
She is the daughter of the Emperor of China, from the fairy tale The Nightingale, by Hans Christian Andersen. Literally why is EAH hiding all these POC from us?
#29: Punk Boy
Tumblr media
He may be the son of the protagonist from The Story of the Youth Who Went Forth to Learn What Fear Was. I love his design sm, like omg he's so pretty.
#30: Peter Pan's daughter.
Tumblr media
So all I can say is she and Hook's daughter are dating. It's very established (especially in the fandom) that she is Peter Pan's daughter but there is no name for her. I'm gonna go with @vivi-designs name for her and call her Peony Pan.
I'm pretty sure the photo max is 30, so this is the end of Part 1, I will post more about the background characters, feel free to comment what you think. And more info can be found here:

dungeon meshi up to chapter 60
Tumblr media
HOLY SHIT SO THIS SHIT IS NEW NEW
anyway... I love this story a whole lot! at first I just was wanting to know what would happen after the anime was up to, but now I'm living this a whole heck of a lot.
I really love how its not so, anime. I guess. like there is a lot of western tropes and imagery here.
also there's no sexual stuff at all. I would have 100% let that stuff slide when it came to succubae, because you know, their succubae. but they didn't do that.
Tumblr media
like the winged lion reminds me a lot of the sphinx of Greek myth
Tumblr media
and it uses a lot of stuff from D&D but I've noticed that a lot in anime, i dont know which one came first though. its a chicken or the egg situation.
also reminds me of the extras of the dungeon and dragons beat em up games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sorry I cant find the artist for these, but here's some links, (here and here)
also found this on reddit
Tumblr media
this makes me wish I could be just as good at things as them! maybe when I start actually making video games, instead of being scared of writing, I'll do it my self. and people wont be so weirded out by my interests and the stuff that I love.
also the Baldurs Gate characters are from Baldurs Gate 2, so you know she's a NERD nerd. fuck, I couldn't even get into that game, just too hard lol. although I do play regular D&D.
this passed semester has gotten me really down in the dumps with how hard this shit is, but knowing I can possibly make something that makes people this happy, I would love to just push my way through collage and make something childhood me would run home from school just to play/watch/read some more.
and again, I love how much you can tell that these characters are just DND characters. like she just had a DND campaign transcripted and that was the story.
this story spits in the face of every other western story where its just lord of the rings, but again. and all of the isakai storys where they are just "im stuck in this world but i dont actually want to leave and its mainly so i can be a wish fufillment for 12 year old boys". and i just wish i had the guts to just start writing or whatever.
and hopefully all of this stuff will be adapted in the anime, i dont think so though...

Searching for the reference (1)
As you might know, I am currently doing a full re-read /research in my spare time to find all the cultural references in the “Fables” franchise. Fairytales, nursery rhymes, myths and poems... But I can’t possibly know everything, and many questions are left hanging in the air.
Quite literaly, for this page of Fables issue 4:
Tumblr media
This is a flashback to the Homelands (realm of fairytales and myths) being invaded. You can recognize several iconic characters of fiction: Baba Yaga in her chicken-legged house, Robin Hood, the Tin Woodman and Jack Pumpkinhead from the Oz books... There is also a bunch of stereotypical, traditional fantasy entities - giants, dwarfs, dragons, pixies... And then there is this person:
Tumblr media
A person riding a flying sleigh pulled by swans. There are six of them in total. The Fables Encyclopedia incorrectly refers to this person as “Apollo” - but this isn’t the case. Already the character is not drawn in the style of Ancient Greece, and it is very clearly a female character. Plus, it isn’t a chariot, it is very clearly the sleigh - notice how the character is sitting, and there are no wheels?
There is a possibility that this might be just a random fantasy character with no actual real-world folklore reference to it. But... it might also be an homage to a character that I didn’t get. The only person I know of that is a woman flying alongside swans is Aphrodite - maybe it is an incarnation of her, Aphrodite or Venus? But then why is it a sleigh - it doesn’t fit with an Ancient Greek character, where it was all about chariots.
I don’t know... Do you know about queens, enchantresses or fairies riding sleighs pulled by swans? In fairytales? In fantasy fiction or children literature? In some legends or folklore? If you ever find something, don’t hesitate to let me know! And know that Willingham uses a large scope of source material for his comics, so it might be a character of nursery rhyme, folktale, Romantic poetry or who knows what else.
It might also be something slipped in by the artist, Mark Buckingham, who sometimes slips in characters of his own imagination or references when doing crowd drawings.

the D'Aulaire's books of myth
Tumblr media
When I was a very young child, my mother, who knew me well sometimes and sometimes not at all, would often take me to the local library and let me spend hours there. For me it was like discovering my very first magical forest, the bookshelves like endless groves of golden trees hanging with every kind of jeweled fruit imaginable. Between those golden trunks were doorways to a thousand different worlds, each as foreign and intriguing as the last. I never confined myself to the quiet, bright flower field of the children's section, not when I could disappear into the deeper shadows of the forest, ferreting out new corners to look into, new books with their hidden worlds to find. My mother, for good or bad, had a great deal of faith, either in the library or in me, that I wouldn't stumble across books she didn't approve up -
Tumblr media
but stumble across them I did. Most, for better or worse, I don't remember. Obviously, they weren't life-changing or scarring enough to make an imprint on me. But there were some brightly golden books with almost Byzantium illustrations that I fell in love with then and still, to this day, keep tucked away inside the corners of my chest, almost forgotten until something makes me trip over them and they glow all over again. They were the D'Aulaires' books and they were the beginning of the beginning for me. My rather strict religious mother didn't approve of them, worried they'd lead me off the path and into paganism (and no, it didn't matter that the Norse myth one ended with Adam and Eve). She didn't understand that the bright illustrations and the tales in the books were stories to me, so much more alluring and satisfying than religion. Since she wouldn't let me check them out to bring home, I instead used my library time to disappear into the forest of book stacks and hide away to read them there. First their Greek gods and myths. Then their Norse ones. Then their book of trolls. I even vaguely recall one about a giant chicken! Before Edith Hamilton and Bulfinch's Mythology, for me, there were the D'Aulaires.
Tumblr media
I meant this to be the introduction to a piece about the huldra - but I think I'll save that for another time. Instead, I'm going to turn this into a book review/recommendation/thingy. Most of my books are still packed in boxes in the closet but now I feel the need to go digging through them, hunting for the gold buried somewhere in their midst. Greek gods and Norse ones and all the magical folk who fall somewhere in-between them and us on those brilliant, crayon-soft, illustrated pages. If you've already read the myth books by Ingri and Edgar D'Aulaire like me, this is your memory bell, ringing. Go. Find them again. If you haven't read them yet, and myth interests you, why not give one of them a try, perhaps even at your local library? And if there are children in your life, your own or someone else's that you get to borrow, why not introduce them? There is a sweet, lulling, singing quality to the oldest stories, a breathing space somewhere between the frantic pace of today and a rushing tomorrow. Children deserve to have their own Greek gods phase of childhood development, just like so many of us did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do you remember them too? Did we share this magic through the worlds and forests of stories in a library? Did all our worlds soften, just a little bit, for a short while into something rare and adventurous?

🥀Book Review: Pagan Portals: Persephone by Robin Corak
Tumblr media
Full Title: Pagan Portals: Persephone, Practicing the Art of Personal Power. Author: Robin Corak Published by: Moon Books (John Hunt Publishing) 2020 Good Reads: Link
My Quick Review: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) stars. A good Persephone themed self-help book, touching on shadow work, Persephone's Mythos and with some interesting resources. I recommend it but not enthusiastically.
Official Blurb: Embark upon a powerful journey with Persephone, queen of the Underworld and Goddess of Spring, as she helps you discover your personal power and take control of your life. Personal Reason for Purchasing: I was familiar with several other Books in the Pagan Portals and bought this one hoping for a primer on Persephone's Mythology and modern pagan practice. (Bought from Amazon UK).
Tumblr media
Overview of the book's contents. Introduction: An Introduction to the Author, their Personal Practice and their Experience Working with/Learning from Persephone. Chapter 1: 'From Helpless child to Powerful Woman'. A basic but welcome introduction to the core Myths of Persephone, The Homeric Hymn to Demeter, and a Personal retelling by the Author of the Abduction of Persephone by Hades, told from Persephone's Perspective and with a core theme of empowerment, self-determination/personal sovereignty. Includes journaling prompts. Chapter 2: 'The Eleusinian Mysteries'. An Overview of the Eleusinian Mysteries with discussion surrounding what they may have entailed and the possible lessons/take-aways initiates would have received. Includes journaling prompts. Chapter 3: 'Descent and Ascent'. Primarily a self-help section, discussing Persephone's personal ascent and descent into the Underworld and her growth from it. followed by an exploration of how such an ascent and descent into the shadow self might promote growth in the reader. Including the script for a guided meditation and journaling prompts. . Chapter 4: 'Persephone as a Psychopomp'. An Exploration of Persephone as a Psychopomp (defined as 'a guide with the realm of souls'), touches on the idea of Persephone as a Triple Goddess, with a description of the Nekromanteion. Followed by a discussion of how to access ancestral wisdom, the wisdom of ones own subconscious. Including the script for a guided meditation and journaling prompts. . Chapter 5: 'Persephone and the Art of Discernment'. Focusing on discernment (defined as 'acute judgement and understanding'), with suggestions on how to develop this skill. Includes several divination/discernment techniques using bay leaves. Includes journaling prompts. Chapter 6: 'Rituals for Persephone'. Includes rituals from the dark and light half of the year (one ritual for each) and the script for a guided meditation with the aim of building personal sovereignty and highlights themes discussed in previous chapters. Chapter 7: 'Forging the Path: Additional Methods for Connecting with Persephone'. Begins with an extensive list of correspondences, several chants/invocations, recipes for a Persephone Incense/Bath Tea and an anointing oil, with some discussion of the ingredients' significance. Followed by an explanation for a unique Divination style using Lithomancy dedicated to Persephone known as 'Persephone's Seeds of Wisdom'. Chapter 8: 'Persephone's Feast'. Contains several culinary recipes incorporating foods sacred to Persephone or with 'Greek Flavour', contributed by Steven Corak. (Recipes are as follows: Greek summer salad : Pomegranate vinaigrette : Pomegranate chicken and kale : Pomegranate reduction : Persephone's Pastries) Conclusion: It is a conclusion, with some final journaling prompts.
Tumblr media
Personal Thoughts and Review. While I was hoping for an overview of Persephone's: myths, cults, correspondences etc, what this book is at its heart (imo) is a pagan self-help (maybe shadow-work) book using Persephone as inspiration and theming.
While a generally pleasant and quick read (around 95 pages of text) there are portions where sentiment is repeated and perhaps hammered home a little to hard, however for what this book is rather than what I wished it to be, Pagan Portals Persephone is an excellent example of how to learn from myth and grow from the lessons + experiences therein, and I do recommend it to those interested in Persephone from a Pagan perspective, but it probably shouldn't be your first book on the Goddess.
Books Content in detail. General content: Pretty surface level, but well done given the short page count. Journaling exercise: Themed primarily around shadow work, the questions were In depth and thought provoking (however, as a Masc (he/him) individual I did notice they were written assuming for a Fem reader). I found them useful and have completed the exercise twice so far and have learned more of myself each time. Origin Myth retelling: Interesting and inspiring but undoubtedly written with the lens of supporting the ‘self-help’ personal sovereignty narrative of the book. Persephone’s correspondences: Broad but far from exhaustive, simply a non-referenced list. Rituals and Meditations: Interesting as always to see another practitioner’s approach, I did notice certain Wiccan elements (casting circles, Athame/tools, ‘So mote it be’) not a complaint but worthy of note. Recipes: I’m not qualified to answer this, and food quality is always down to personal taste anyway. However, it is an interesting concept. Persephone’s Seeds of Wisdom: A personal highlight from the book, I use a modified version of this method in my own practice.
The most interesting hot takes from the book. Triple Goddess Persephone: While a throw away comment in Chapter 4, the idea of Persephone embodying all Three aspects of the Triple Goddess (namely the Maiden, Mother, Crone archetypes) is interesting, and has inspired me to explore the idea further. Personal Myth Retelling (Mythic fanfic): It is definitely decisive to rewrite myth within pagan circles, but isn’t that what Humanity have done from the Dawn of time, and perhaps by personally retelling Persephone’s transition from Kore to Queen, we might learn which aspects of the Myth, Goddess and their role in our practice are most influential to us as individuals. (Obviously attempting to masquerade one’s personal retelling (myth Fanfic essentially) as the one true version is mind numbing, but on a personal level it may be useful.)
Final Thoughts. While not what I expected, Pagan Portals Persephone has taught me alot, and added to my personal practice, but I am glad I got the this book while equipped to recognise what the text is missing.
