Plot swap

K:"You know Eclipse, I've seen a fair amount of Harry ( or hp character) as an Archoblanco, or Harry goes to Italy, or reincarnation, or Harry interacts with the Mafia in some way, plots, but has there ever been a straight up mostly plot swap?"

Like, Lilly and Petunia had a mother who married out of the Vologa family, and being normal was a trait Petunia got from her mother, who wanted to be excessively normal to blend in and not get noticed as ex Mafia. Unfortunately, it comes to an end, when one of her grandchildren activates as a sky (and her cousins children all end up dead, and in need of a new leader)

So Reborn is sent to train Harry (and Dudley) Into a Boss, and subordinate. 

Reborn is displeased at the living conditions, and makes his displeasure known to the entirety of England. 

Not sure if they would have magic or not, in this one. Could be interesting to do, either way. 

Meanwhile, back in Japan, Tsuna wasn't sealed, but is on the autism spectrum, and going to Mahoutokoro, where his quiet study of magic is interrupted when meets half Italian, half Japanese Gokudera Hayato, a genius musician who loves to investigate, and drags him, and an increasingly growing group of friends to study magical beasts, rumors, and accidently gets them captured by an infamous group of white robes. 

Maybe in this one, Hayato was orphaned by this alternative white robe Voldemort, and Tsuna has to learn to fight to protect himself and his friends, while also surviving quidditch, and his schoolwork.

Tsuna gets used to sleeping on the roof, from the many times Hayato brings them onto it to use the telescopes.

Certainly. So am looking over the main characteristics so am feeling strongly towards storm or rain.

"Maybe, someday Dudley Dursley will make someone a good rain." Reborn reflects "but right now, he is just a mess"

Alternatively, they are both Skies, and messes, and different kinds of messes, nither of which Reborn feels is suited towards leading the Mafia. Let alone together. 

Harry is an Electric sky, Dudley is a Rainy sky. Both are a mess he is not being paid enough to deal with.

Takeshi is the one who got Tsuna invested in Quidditch. It's not his fixation, although Tsuna likes flying, and wants to do something with it

Hibari, wears a gold robe, and values the rules of the school, and wants to bite this version of Voldemort to death with Tonfa's. 

E: "Hibari is gonna straight up murder Voldernort for even THINKING of bring the battle to the school.

K: "So where is Xanxus in this? 

Vologa story ark? 

Because Dudley and Harry both have enough to sort out (particularly if they Sky battle each other) without adding angry competition (unless its to team up to win)

But I am also not quite sure what he would be doing in the wizard arc... 

Maybe a hit has been placed on Japanese white robe voldemort, and the Varia got hired. 

Xanxus in this verse, made his way into the Mafia, by joining the Varia, and eventually ended up leading it, after 14 year old Squalo decided "This! This is who I am going to have lead the assassins. And me! This angry street punk! Is my sky!" Wait, that's practicality cannon. 

Oh My god mon ami. Canon or AU, the Volga legacy is lead by disaster sky messes, and their equally disaster guardians!"

E:" Both Au and canon are ruled by disaster skies it is confirmed!!"

K: " Wait, one more thing. 

In this version Lavinia was a mistress, but when she was pregnant,  married a japanese man, moved there, and was killed by alternate version white robe voldemort. 

The Husbands brother raised him out of respect for what he thinks is his brothers son. Hayato takes piano, in memory of his mother. 

His world is upset by Bianchi, who wants to meet her half brother, by her revolation, which may mean, he may not have actually been raised by his uncle, and his mother may have cheated on her husband, and he is just all upset by this, ok!

In this world, there were no "artistic poison piano recitals", but not all on the family front is smooth for him.

Takeshi's parents were both hitmen. His father put away the blade to be a parent. His mother, had a harder time with that.

Or maybe Takeshi's mother was a witch, and Takeshi also has a debt of revenge to pay to White Robe Voldemort. 

I'm not sure what to do with Ismetsu. 

He might be dead, because sometimes the odds jut roll wrong, and he kept his family on the DL enough, that almost nobody knew he was married, to the point that nobody thought of his civilian wife (who hadn't gotten to inform him she was pregnant). 

Or maybe, when Tsuna got scared, what he called up wasn't flames, but magic. And Nana erased the memory from "Trimeto", and a lot of long conversations were had.

Or maybe it was public, and a mass wiping happened.

Also, what the heck should I do with Harry and Dudley, as an environment. 

The Dursley family, for all they look normal, have issues. 

So another environment for Reborn to train them in, would be needed. 

Dudley, to get away from his family, and in a place he can grow into a better person. 

Harry, a less abusive environment, where he can heal, and excel, without threat of Dudley sabotage. 

But what the heck do I do with them, send them to Mafia school?"

E:"Hayato life is never easy will it be? But an interesting background!!!

Maybe mass wiping of memory would also allude to peoples bizarre dislike of Tsuna"

K:" Thanks. His Uncle did not really know his brother's wife well, or the circumstances, but is trying to do right by his brother.

E: "Mental magic can go bad sometime regardless of how skilled you are. More so if it was done with a mass wiping.

What's Black Sky? What's happening? I never saw this story under tags before, can you do a guide for people like us to understand?

So, recently I've been rereading Umei no Mai's Black Sky, I'm up to chapter 46, and so far, the female Harry Potter has lived a mostly quiet life, declared war on Voldemort, had Sirius as a present person in her life for a decade, traumatized the Weasley Twins and helped sponsor them, unraveled the Diadem Horcrux without destroying the Diadem, basically graduated Hogwarts with her high school diploma and learned enough to get her college equivalence, apologized for getting kidnapped to everyone who cares about her, helped Remus grow a stronger spine, helped socialize Hermione without alienating most people because Hogwarts (despite it's obvious failures) is a decent school and essentially magical nobility school like Eton, and got Draco to see sense. And won't have to deal with Umbridge, but has people ready for it.

All in all, it's lovely chaos without seeming like it, and the other 280 chapters look to be every bit as good.

Put simply, it's a slice of life story where idiots get called out, Dorea slowly takes over the magical world, and due respect is paid to physics, magic, and social engineering, and the Blacks are essentially magical mobsters.

Which can only help when you consider that she about to go to a silent war against the Vongola from Katekyo Hitman Reborn for a similar massive pileup of stupidity and senility.

If you're a true Dumbledore supporter, or believer in Nonno Vongola, then don't read this as here the prophecy refers to Dumbledore and the old fool in Italy created a cult of personality, is growing senile, and is basically as bad as Dumbledore.

Personally I like Dumbledore, but here he's a fool and gets called out on it and I don't think he's ever written out of character. For all he has done wrong, he gets what he deserves.

So, if you're ready to read the same fix-it fic for a month, minimum, go give it a try and make sure to read the companion stuff "Parenthood is not a Varia Quality", and I forget the name of the other one that covers Tsuna's point of view during the Byakuran mess and despite the sheer lack of...a lot of things in his life, he acquits himself well and notices where things aren't right, if not having all the context.

I feel you should also read Bolt from the Blue, and the Pick up the Pieces series, both of which are pure KHR, and totally worth it for how they took a solid look at the world and give an outside look and perspective that helps Xanxus grow the family he deserves. From spurned assassin to happy father/husband.

The Mad Hatter’s Workshop | First ever version of Mad Hatter

Hope you like this little sneak peek into the creative process that went into Mad Hatter. This is the first ever draft I made if Mad Hatter :D

His name was Mad Hatter, and he was odd. Like, living up to his namesake kind of odd. He even had the look to go with it : dark hair that stuck up in every possible direction, shocking green eyes glinting with no little insanity. He even wore a ratty patched up top hat that talked.

No one knew where he came from, and his past was even more mysterious.

All they knew is that he wandered into the Varia one day and killed Ottavio, becoming the Cloud Officer.

He never left.

A lot of things about him were downright weird, and that was according to the Varia standards.

For one, Mad Hatter was immune to pretty much every poison in existence. They’d found out about it when Opal from the Cloud division decided to poison her Officer. The man had calmly sipped half the cup without dying within fifteen minutes, before he forced the other Cloud into drinking the rest. He then made her beg for the antidote while she died a long and painful death and after he finally gave it to her, he proceeded to inform all of them that he was immune to all poisons, and that they would have to try harder than that to get rid of him.

Another thing about him was that he had nightmares. Horrible nightmares that only happened when someone had lived through Hell and while their body had survived, their mind hadn’t.

His screams echoed through the whole mansion on the bad nights.

And someone tried to wake him up, well... they paid the price. The price being a bullet in the head and instant death.

He was the one to rescue Xanxus. With his magic and invisibility cloak, the rescue mission went without a hitch, and he was the one to provide potions to Lussuria to help the Varia Boss’ recovery.

They bonded soon after Xanxus woke up.

A year later they were on a date, in Namimori (Bel had suggested the restaurant, Takesushi) when they stumbled upon a small boy crying on a swing in a empty playground. They were worried of course (yes, even Xanxus, no matter how hard he tried to deny it), it was late, too late for a five year old child to be out and about.

A week later they were on their way back to Italy, two little boys in tow. Harry had raged when he discovered the seal on the poor boy’s Flames, Dumbledore had tried to do the same to his magic and his core and Flames still bore scars from the old man’s attempts to control and leash him.

His Flames being unsealed, Tsuna had unconsciously bonded with the son of the retired assassin and now sushi chef, the infamous Autumn Rain.

The man had reluctantly let them take his son along with the promise of regular visits. Separating an element from his newly acquired Sky was simply not done.

Tsuna’s mother, an airhead woman that made Harry’s protective streak towards children seethe at the fact that she was shamelessly neglecting her child, easily signed Tsuna’s guardianship over to them.

That day, Sawada Tsuna became Tsuna Potter, and was raised by them with the help of the Varia.

Mukuro came along later, found covered in cuts and bruises and cowering in a small cage when Mad Hatter raided the Estraneo Base and singlehandedly destroyed them. He became Mukuro Potter a week later, bonding with Tsuna in the same lapse of time it took to finalise the adoption process.

He became Mammon’s apprentice and later joined the Varia.

Part 1 of the Harriet Potter & the Stray Cat AU

Harri is bored. It's not something she had expected, to be honest. Though she probably should have. Magic makes people age slower, this is a fact. A fact that she had known. Peripherally, at least. Her magical core is on the same range as Dumbledore's and Tom's used to be. 

But looking at the way even her friends start ageing around her when she still looks just 17. It smacked her in the face mercilessly. Her core is bigger, she will age slower. It's starting to show. 

And she's so bored besides. 

Not even Hermione throwing interesting things her way has been enough lately. No matter that Harri's patience for investigation has grown greatly during the last 15 years. 

So she has opted for a change of setting. Italy was picked mostly at random, the bakery out of restlessness. She still has more than enough money to live comfortingly but Harri was never one to be idle. So a bakery it is.  

It's not in the best part of town. It's not even in a good part of town. It's in the middle of the slums, actually. That's no accident. Very few people will go looking for the famous Harriet Potter in a place like this. And, like it or not, folk in the slums have a very clear "I haven't seen or heard anything" mentality.

Better for her, honestly. Besides, the Italian Magical Ministry is far more relaxed about secrecy laws than its English counterpart. Something about an entire community of squibs using basic soul magic. 

None of that prepared her for finding the small beaten up form of a black-haired child trying to climb up the shelves of her bakery's kitchen. He can't have any ill intent, the wards wouldn't have let him in otherwise. Harri closes the door quietly behind herself, lips pursing as she observes the kid. 

He's going to fall. 

As soon as she thinks that, the kid loses his footing and tumbles down. Harri catches him just barely, arms pulling him up to her hip as she studiously ignores both the way she can feel his ribs and the ineffectual attempts at escaping her grip. "Careful," Harri admonishes, "that would have hurt." 

She's not sure whether it's fear or confusion that has him stilling, but still he remains all the way up the stairs and to her bathroom. Following pure gut feeling, Harri prepares a bath for him, water just high enough that he won't drown, and then lets him down cautiously on the cold tile. "Alright," she sighs after giving him a once over, "take the bath. Leave the clothes by the door so I can clean them for you." 

"Why?"

This is awkward. "Because your injuries will get infected if they're dirty." No cajoling, no soothing, just plain fact. Harri needs him compliant so she can take care of him, too much sweetness and he'll be suspicious. Her heart hurts. Harri ignores that studiously. 

The kid doesn't answer that, he just looks up at her with dark mistrustful red eyes, lips pressed tightly closed and arms crossed over his chest. But he does slowly move to check the water's temperature so Harri leaves him to that, closing the door softly behind her as she drags a hand through her messy black hair. 

What a mess. What is she even doing? Still, her gut feeling is usually somewhat reliable.

Ignoring all the self-doubt that has decided to come out now to play, she leaves some left-overs to heat up before taking the dirty clothes the kid left by the door. He didn’t run off at first opportunity, which is good. Harri leaves them to clean themselves up with magic and doesn’t bother trying to hurry up the process. 

Wet clothes are as good an excuse as any other to wrangle the kid into letting her feed him. A predictable excuse, too. So he’d probably fight Harri less on it. If he decides to fight her at all, he seems to be under the impression that compliance might be the path of less harm. 

It’s a start. 

The stone floors are cold to the touch, maybe she should add charms for that? Harri had only gotten them that way because the aesthetic reminds her of Hogwarts but now… it just doesn’t feel child-friendly? Too cold, too impersonal. Maybe her friends are right and she needs to start adding up some personal touches. 

A small crack takes her out of her thoughts and Harri goes to pick him up before she can think better of it. It’s just… the stone floors are cold. He doesn’t seem averse to it, though. Not if the way his hands twist around the fabric of her blouse is any indication. 

“I can lend you some of Teddy’s clothes while yours dry,” she offers and deliberately ignores the tenseness of him.

He does nod, though. And she takes that. Good enough. He’s dried up and clothed quickly enough and Harri takes it as a good sign that he willingly comes closer for her to pick up, settling on her hip calmly.

“Are you hungry? I’m heating up some left-overs.” 

That gets her another nod, a little more eager. She hides her smile against the top of his hair, taking advantage of the way he’s tucked his head under her chin. Harri knows what it’s like to be that age and hungry, though maybe not that hungry. And she has a people saving thing. 

It’s ok, isn’t it? What if this time ‘people’ turns out to be a small scrap of a child who somehow snuck up into her kitchen. He’s just hungry, she can understand that. “Careful,” she murmurs, “it’s hot, don’t burn yourself.”

Opinion: This behemoth of a fic is amazing. The For Want Of A Nail makes sense and is built into the story. The crossover part is amazingly done as well and the mythology world building is well thought out. I really do have to recommend this fic and honestly all of Umei no Mai’s works.

The knight on the horse worse a strange crown fashioned of something white. His eyes were closed, his expression solemn, and when he spoke his mouth barely opened, making his every word a whisper to Tsuna’s ears. Not that Tsuna minded that; it added to the peace of the night. The moon above them was barely a sliver in the sky, most of the light surrounding them from the stars, and the strange, hellfire eyes of the knight’s horse.

“Do you regret?” the man murmured, and Tsuna laughed tiredly, leaning against the tree at his side.

Tsuna had been having weird dreams lately. They wouldn't have been alarming by themselves - except they were followed by the entry of a strange green eyed British man into his life, and the realization that coming close to death over multiple times in his life might not be the metaphor it seemed on the surface.

Death, for his part, dearly wished people would stop messing with the mortal he'd managed to fall for, and let him live the normal, happy life he wanted to lead.

I chose these:

It focuses on fem!Voldemort, and how it would affect her life, but eventually she ends up in the KHR verse  and falls in love with fem!Xanxus. They’re vicious together and I Love It.
