she had boyfriend, well still has, and it’s puck, she tells you, that she’s gonna break up with him, but it’s always, later, or ‘why do you even care?’ you shrugged it off, knowing deep inside that you cared a little, and plus it was deep inside you, like her fin-

but moving on, you hated the fact that you were just her little side piece, god you felt like a mistress, you hated how she treated you like a shit, she was degrading you every minute, not that you didn’t like it, but still.

her words felt like a stab in your heart, when you weren’t having sex, but still, she called you all the things there was in the book of ‘lopez insults’

—that’s her notebook that filled all the insults she said to people, and to who. you were a big topic on that book, being the number one she bullies, at least you were number one to her.

and what upseted you the most is whenever a guy takes interest in you, possibly asking you out, and she would drive them away, telling them lies about you, causing them to not text you back anymore.

and what was worse, was that she didn’t care, she didn't care one bit, she didn't care she was hurting you, she didn't care that you were crying in front of her. instead she's kicking you out, even if it was your own room.

she hurt you, a lot, too many to count, to hurt to count, so you stopped, replying to her texts, eventually started to ignore her, as if she would ever talk to you in school. but still you ignored her, whenever you see her in the hallways to whenever you see her enter a bathroom, when you really need to pee. just ignoring her whole entire existance.

until, a boy, with beach blond hair, big lips, tall, muscular, came into your world. you were in charge of showing him around the school, you guys talked, which led to laughing, which led to him slowly and softly flirting with you, not giving out the image if a creep who just wants to get into a girl's pants.

in fact, he was excited to get to know you, your ups and downs, your wrongs ,your rights, everything about your life just seemed interesting to him. and it was surprising, since he was the star quarter back, he had blonde hair, he was the perfect type, a stereotypical ken, while you, you were a Raquelle.

when he came to you, asking for advice on how to ask a girl out, you thought he was gonna ask out Quinn Fabray, i mean who wouldn't, she was your stereotypical Barbie, plus the pregnant part. even though you were hurt on the inside, as you thought that, but you were used to getting hurt, so you shrugged it off.

"well first, courting, every woman wants that. take her on dates, wait patiently for a yes, but to ask her that, you have to give her presents, first." you tell the boy, as an idea sparked in his mind. "give her chocolates, or flowers. but for me, i personally, i don't get the use of flowers, i mean they're boring, and well chocolates are the best."

then that sparked turned into an even bigger one. "and honestly, just be yourself. girls will like that." you smile at him, one last time, before you walk off to your next class.

he was super sweet to you, he was a natural gentleman. he would hold your heavy bags, filled with textbooks, and some other stuff. he would wait for you in the entrance of the school. helping you carry your books to your next class, no matter how far his classroom was from yours. protecting you from the jocks, and slushees. there was even one time when he stood in front of you taking the slushee, since you wore a white shirt.

he helped you a lot, but not to much to leave you feeling like a helpless girl who needs help every second. he, again, was sweet to you, he was to good to be true. so Santana walked up to him. "hey there, sammy evans." she said, with a evil smirk upon her face.

"uh, hey." the blond boy said awkwardly. "haven't you heard?" she asks him. "that girl right there, has got a little problem" she adds, gesturing to an alcohol addiction.

"huh." the boy asked. "yeah, it's true, she was caught buying vodka in a liquor store." she nods, trying to make him believe. "yeah, so you should stay away from her, she'll just hurt you." and with that, the latina walked away, leaving the blond to be confused.

he believed her, a little. a big part of him knows that it was probably a lie. but, you kept secrets about you hidden very well, you knew how to hide something or not. but whatever it was, he knew he was ready to work through it with you.

so the next day, he came up to you, with a big, goofy grin. he wore a messy blazer over his shirt, and hid chocolates behind his back. "sooo, y/n. i want to make this twenty minutes before your first class, worth it." he paused taking a deep breath. "i want to court you. i've liked you for a really really long time, ever since i've first met, you. i like your eyes, i like your smile, the way you laugh, the way you style, the way your hair smells so good in the morning, the way you're often sleeping in class, but still manages to pass. the way you think you're not the most perfect human being, even though you surely are. even if you're mean to people, even to me. i like you so damn much, not to take this chance and leap into your heart. ew, cringe i know. but i like you, so so much. to the point-well i'm not gonna say it yet, i know how much you hate people saying that so early one. but i really really really, like you. and only you. no one else. just you, in my heart right here." he says, pointing to his heart.

"yes." you breath out, smiling. genuinely smiling, like a big dumb dork. "r-really?" his grins grows so much bigger, obviously happy with my answer.

"of course, who wouldn't you're absolutely fucking perfect." you chuckle, as he hugs you tightly. "i know how much you hate when romcom leads kiss each other the first second they meet each other."

"you know me so much. maybe too much." you joke, "i mean i do know you're secretly working undercover. but it's between us." he whispers, looking around, actually playing around with the joke.

what you didn't know was, santana was actually watching from the far, an unsettling feeling in her stomach. she wanted to shrug it off, but she couldn’t, just seeing you being so happy with someone that wasn’t her, it just does that.

so she made a plan. after all your classes, you’re at your locker putting away your books, fortunately your class ended early, due; to only having a quiz the whole class hour.

but as you were walking to sam’s class, decided to wait for him there, you were suddenly pulled into the janitors closet, by your bag. the lights were close, you felt someone behind your back, while a hand covered your mouth, shutting you off, their other arm wrapped around you tightly, to refrain you from leaving, or fighting back.

you were scared, you didn’t know who this person was, of course you were scared. it lasted about ten minutes, when the arm tightly wrapped around you let you go to open the light. you immediately turned back around, reaching for the door knob, but it was locked.

"ow! my feet!" a voice too familiar said. "what the fuck do you want?" your voice stern. your face cold. "i want you. it's been to long since we're last together." she said, walking closer to you, placing a quick kiss on your neck. "fuck off." you push her away.

"y/n. i'm sorry." you couldn't believe it, santana lopez, the santana lopez said sorry to you. "what?" you mumble. "i treated you like absolute shit. i put away your feelings, and i am so so sorry. i'm willing to do anything to make you forgive me. i camd to my senses and realized that, i'm..i'm in love with you. i'm in love with you y/n. i treated you like shit because i felt like shit being in love with you, i knew you would never reciprocate. so i treated yo that way. but i was really just mad at myself. i'm sorry." she says, genuinely.

"i like you too. liked you. but you just treated me like shit, you made me feel like i was nothing but a waste of air." she looked down on her feet, biting her lip not knowing what to say. "i know you're sorry."

Hello, can you do Embry x Reader. Where they are hanging out with the pack and Emily cousin. Claire sat on Reader’s lap and hugging her and Reader hugged her back. Emily smiled and in awe including Sam. When it was late night, Reader started to notice that Claire is tired so she asked Emily can she take her to bed upstairs. Emily says yes. After that, Reader took Claire to her room and put her bed but Claire was still awake. So Reader started to sing like harmony and hitting notes but soft. When she started to sing the pack heard her because of super hearing and then they went to upstairs then Sam, Paul and Embry with the pack opened the door and saw Reader singing amazing. Embry was shocked and impressed. Sam was impressed into especially Paul. When he said damn. Emily saw it too. After that Reader walked out the door and the. Embry told her that was amazing and she got embarrassed.

Embry is staring at you. Now, he needs to marry you asap. He's been thinking about it for a long time now, but he's been so scared! Paul keeps urging him and making fun of his nervousness.

Welcome to Revenge of the Underrated!

Some of you asked me to put a "haven't watched both" to be more fair to the more unknown movies, but I've seen other tournaments doing this and I think it limits too much who can participate in the polls. So what I decided to do is a double elimination!

What does that mean? That means a movie has to lose twice to be eliminated. In other words, there will be a sorts of losers bracket that'll be part of main bracket. I'm undecided on whether to do this for only one round or the whole bracket, as it would make the tournament very long. Do let me know if you have any opinion about it.

Happy Barbie Movie Release Day!

It’s nice to feel excited about something again.

It’s not every day you see a toy product centered movie gaining this much positive attention, much less one that deals in the existential horror of being alive. Which is, actually, exactly what I expected out of it and am very happy to see.

Barbie’s probably one of if not the most recognizable and successful product Mattel has, and it’s been that way for decades. But why am I talking about that here? This is a things-full-of-liquid-with-heavy-emphasis-on-water-games blog!

Well, you’re not gonna believe it, but Mattel being a toy company that’s been around for this long, has actually dabbled a bit in our territory! And they actually made a good couple of water games themed around a certain blonde blue eyed doll and her best friends!

So! Without further ado, may I present to you……..

Polly Pocket Tiny Games!

What? Was that not where you thought that was going?

Believe it or not, there really aren’t many Barbie water games at all, just cheaply reskinned ring toss games with a Barbie backdrop…which is both baffling and disappointing considering Barbie has had COUNTLESS beach, pool, sea, and just general water themes. Polly Pocket though? Got 6. You may recognize these if you’re a veteran of this blog.

Being one of Mattel’s latest ventures in water games, my sources tell me that these were actually received incredibly poorly, averaging at a 2-3 star rating. While definitely cute and unique, reviews often mention that the games seem to be designed more for aesthetics than actual play, and that it’s very hard to get some of the play pieces to actually move. Not too surprising looking at those cramped tanks. Wasted potential for sure!

Ohhh but I can’t just end the post there can I? That’s such a bummer! Well, what if I told you this wasn’t the first time Mattel tried their hand at making water games? What if I told you that in 1989 Mattel was one of the few big toy companies that actually dared to challenge the reign of Tomy’s Waterfuls during the peak of its popularity? Oh it’s very true, and considering you’ve probably never heard of it, you can safely assume how that endeavor went. But it’s intriguing nonetheless!

Trouble Bubbles/Fun Bubbles

Documentation of these online is mostly limited to listings on buy-and-sell sites (As always. I can’t stress how vital these sites are to conserving lost/obscure media.) so there’s not a lot known about these, and not many pictures of them either. What I can gather is that Mattel made at least 6 of these as well, 3 Trouble Bubbles games and 3 Super Trouble Bubbles games. The main difference between the 2 being Super Trouble Bubbles having a small switch that allows you to redirect the jets of water, which is pretty cool and admittedly not something I’ve seen in other water games! Both also have a wind up timer to challenge yourself to complete the game in a short period.

I’ve yet to collect one of these myself, but they look pretty decent in terms of quality and stand out nicely. They never fully took off in terms of popularity but I think they’re pretty cool, especially as a piece of toy history! Not too shabby at all for Waterfuls competition, my hat’s off to them! Not bad Mattel, sad they haven’t recaptured the same inventiveness for their Polly games. But hey, honestly? Nowadays would be a GREAT time to bring back Trouble Bubbles if you ask me. Water games are coming back in style and Waterfuls has been slow in new major products for quite a while. Who knows? It may just be able to snag that crown sometime in the future…

just wanted to totally agree that it was def immediately noticeable to me as well that it was always N taking over the shipping questions and it seemed intentional and strategic. That’s an interesting theory, about him not answering to leave that door open. I think it could be part of the reasoning.

i think PR was involved and I think it was intentional for a few reasons:

by not saying anything, it gave L plausible deniability with his relationship status during the press tour (at a starting point where 95% of bridgerton fans had no idea about A) bc maybe their PR teams anticipated that fans could be like “why didn’t he ever mention having a gf, like corey did?” bc let’s be real, it totally benefits netflix/shonda/luke’s PR to leave his new relationship status as ambiguous as possible to fans leading up to the premiere. part of the entire purpose of the 6 month long press tour was to emphasize L and N’s chemistry in interviews and fuel the shipping rumors to get potential viewers hyped for the show and ultimately benefit everyone’s bottom line ($$$).

By the time the press tour had started, L and A had likely only been dating for like 2-3 months (the earliest evidence I’ve personally seen is from November from their Soho trip with R/S, not sure if they dated before then tho…) so the relationship was still very fresh, probably too fresh for L to want to bring up having a partner, as he had done in interviews before with J (they even walked the BS2 carpet together), but if he didn’t ever bring up A he prob knew that would be salt on the wound for her during this whole press tour emphasizing L and N’s chemistry bc she obv doesn’t want their relationship to be secret. So I can totally understand L wanting to take the easy way out from having to bring his relationship status into question at all and just letting N answer every time so that he didn’t even have to touch that particular topic with 10 foot pole lol.

If I was L I would also want N to answer those questions for me bc she’s a quick thinker and she’s incredibly good at reliably giving consistent answers that also don’t reveal TOO much, but worded in ways that still come off totally sincere and leave fans happy. She’s super PR-savvy and a total pro fielding tough questions (see: her iconic response about the perfect breast community!). Whereas I feel like L (although he also has his moments where he shines!) has a bit of a harder time getting there and gets more nervous, so he slips up sometimes and blurts stuff out that he perhaps didn’t mean to lol (Barbie comment, the ride innuendos, “the fans are gonna love this” when wiping N’s mouth that shot their PR in the foot a little lol, acknowledging live that he revealed too much about part 2 filming after he saw the look N gave him, totally misunderstanding the question about the carriage scene filming ‘taking too long’, etc) but tbf it’s hard not to with SO many interviews. I think L has a tougher time when he’s put on the spot. And it does make me feel like perhaps his feelings towards N and their relationship are more complicated than they let on if this is a question that flusters him enough to want to completely avoid it straight up.

I think to me it was also a way for them to emphasize their “unique connection” and “love for one another” that, besides prob being true IRL, is also an important point to make to fans to sort of “let them down easy” bc Luke is in a relationship. It’s a win-win to have N be the one to say these things, bc A doesn’t have to be uncomfy hearing her bf gush about his relationship with his co-star to the world in any capacity at all, while N has more of a pass to hype up their “unique love” without her words being microanalyzed or put out of context bc she’s not the one in the relationship. L faces a higher burden of proof in that sense to say things that don’t blur the lines or put his relationship status or his loyalty to his gf in question, but that goal is contradicted by the PR strategy of hyping up L and N’s chemistry in the extreme way that they did lol so it’s just easier for everyone for L to say nothing at all.

sorry, u can tell i have way too many thoughts about this and too much free time at the moment lol. but thanks for reading! it’s honestly fascinating to see this play out (i think bc of how insane their chemistry is so we all get way too invested) and i love having a place to have a lil gossip about it lol even if in the end they do or don’t ever get together (but i’ll always hope they pull a bob/eliza!).

hey M, before you left your blog I wanted so much to ask you about cinema and I didn't get a chance back then but since you are back I'm glad I have an opportunity to do so and here I go.

Who and what do think played a huge role in the rise of independent filmmaking in the 70's that helped breaking boundaries within GP and against major studios whether in concept, scenario/story cinematography..etc. and do you think such movement might be accomplished in our era knowing how technology is so advanced - AI in particular- to the point it removed many aspects that define the art of cinema?

I know Tech is a double edged sword but these days I feel its negative impact more than ever and imo, the amount of remakes is a huge sign that we have reached the ending line, and I hope that going back to the roots is a possible feature that is yet to be invested in.

Hi @astutejiminie! Thanks for the question, this is something that I'd love to talk about.

In short and in hindsight as well, it's almost like it was inevitable if we look at the situation the studios were in the 1960s, but also at the socio-economic and political factors. It's all tied together.

By the mid to late 60s, it became obvious the big Hollywood studios weren't making money anymore. Television came and that affected the way the usual movie goer behaved. Since it was new, it had a success quite from the beginning. The studios were also investing a ton of money in a few select genres thinking it's the magic formula that can bring audiences back. Musicals and epics in technicolor. Most of them failed critically and also didn't make any profit. Only a few did, like The Sound of Music for example. Another aspect was that Hollywood played it safe in the 50s-60s, the Hays code was still on until 1968 which was restrictive and puritanical. And now we're getting to the bigger picture. How would a young audience in the late 60s could possibly be interested in that anymore? When they could easily buy a ticket to some European film that showed them morally ambiguous characters, sex and less conformism? There was no way Hollywood could survive if they didn't adapt. And they saw early on that some of the films obviously inspired by world cinema (especially Europe) were actually worthwile (see Bonnie and Clyde). And from that point on, filmmakers, writers, were given freedom and means of production, without the studios being completely in control of a film. The director was. And a lot of them were young people high on European and Japanese cinema and they helped bring in a new era. One that had a huge effect and still has on the way contemporary American film looks like. They owned the 70s.

And then the era of blockbuster came in and that has had a major effect as well, until today. Jaws made a lot of money. Star Wars too. The box office success was huge. The 1980s focused again on investing money, an easy plot to follow, a story that looked spectacular and so on. And still, those filmed looked better made than some current Hollywood super hero movie that is not bringing a wide variety of audiences back to the cinema.

We've been stuck with remakes, sequels and prequels and cinematic universes and countless shows on streaming platforms. A saturated market that offers nothing. We need good Hollywood movies. A diversity in genre films. What Barbie and Oppenheimer are doing this summer is great. Both are films that don't insult their audience, are mainstream but also cater to audiences coming from different backgrounds and people are excited. The tickets are sold out. But I do fear it's but one singular example and it will take another 10-15 years until something similar happens again.

For now, the situation looks bleak and the rise of AI used in the industry only makes it worse. Which is why the actors and the writers strikes are so important. They need to fight against it and gain some control. The big studios and streaming platform CEOs don't care about cinema and television. About the craft. They want to get rid of extras and replace them with a digital version. They will make more and more use of technology to write the scripts. As long as they spend less money on actual people, then that's great for them. Which is why the negotiations are so difficult. It's scary and I find it daunting that this dystopic scenario might happen in my life time.

As much as the movie and tv business is entertainment, it is also art. Simply because it involves people creating something. No AI can replicate what a person can do. Their emotions and intellect that is reflected in what they make.

Yes, going back to some formula of the 1970s sounds good but on a big scale, that's not possible because we live in such a different world. Some smaller studios are still releasing more quality works, like A24. But an entire industry is a lot more. Hollywood is the studios that make it. What's important is how those studios adapt and negotiate with the people that also keep Hollywood running and not lose its meaning. It won't disappear. But over time, people get replaced, new business ideas come in and the dream lives on. Hopefully on better terms than presently.

Hey hey, I want to know… your top three favourite media right now, shows, books, movies, podcasts, whatever!

I’m watching Andor right now and loving it. It’s extremely relevant and good at portraying the rise of fascism while, most importantly, humanizing all parties involved, driving home the idea that anyone could be or become a fascist and because of that, fighting fascism is even more important. Also really digs into the topics of surveillance, police brutality, an unfair justice system— a bunch of super relevant stuff today and really I admire how much of a strong political commentary it is while also still being very completely Star Wars and not losing that fun and excitement. It’s also just super damn good and I love Diego Luna so much.

Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom will always remain my favorite books, they’re just so fun, have such strongly developed characters, a perfect mix of darkness and humor and thrill and banter, and very good worldbuilding. 10000000/10. Go read— especially if you like a good heist story.

And how could I not mention the Barbie movie, ofc. Greta Gerwig is absolutely prolific. Wonderful. Astounding. Everything about it is so colorful and fun while it still delves into real world problems and themes in a way that makes you think.

Hey there! I wanted to ask for advice, just a couple months ago I meet a boy, and though all the kind, soft, delicate and funny interactions we had I kinda felt for him, I honestly denied it so many times cause I knew maybe I was confusing "being treated like a human being" (cause i spend 2 years in total isolation for mental health issues) with love, and kept reminding me that in the back of my mind I was just really happy to have someone who didn't treat me like shit and really listened and care for me, but in some way I know that's just a facade (from him?) Hi. My advice for you is to not beat yourself up about feeling this way, jealousy via internalized misogyny can happen to the best of us, even me (in the homosexual way but yeah). I'm sure you're right and you just look like a normal woman. What's really helped me over the last decade, when it comes not judging myself by patriarchal Barbie doll standards as they become more the norm and not comparing myself to other women for any reason, is to just kinda unplug from media as much as I can. Social media but Instagram and Snapchat especially, as well as like just Hollywood shit and film in general, in which women are made up 10x as heavily as males like 99% of the time and so many of these narratives are about some woman just orbiting some man.

The narrative that we (even me) should be competing for male attention is everywhere, even when it isn't explicit the beauty industrial complex has the male gaze as its main benefactor ($$$) and director, so much so that unless you're like Amish or have never seen an advertisement no one is really immune to the propaganda. This guy you like may actually be sweet and not a typical porn addicted moid but (and I really do hate to say this I wish it were different) the odds of that happening are probably slim.

If they aren't though and he's your future husband to me it still says something that you're feeling off about the tension this is causing in this moment. It's good you're at least sitting with it and considering your negative response to this other woman

Barbenheimer weekend!

It’s Barbenheimer weekend and as a cinephile, I of course participated. Today was Barbie with my brother and yesterday I went to Oppenheimer. I bought shirts to wear to each one and went to my favorite theatre (I will never ever step into a chain theater with the exception of B&B bc it did start in MO where I am from)

This is a year for movies as a Wes Anderson movie and Chris Nolan movie came out this year. My two favorite directors. I know kinda contrasting. One makes serious, science-y movies and the other quirky indie films. I love them.

I got the guy’s name tattooed on my upper back, how super fan can one get? Next I just need a Chris Nolan tattoo and my super fan status will be extended 😂

I’ll start by talking about Barbie, now I’m not much of a fan of chick flicks, they’ve never really appealed to me but hey I’ve played with a Barbie or 10 in my childhood so this movie should be fun.

It was a fun movie. Margot Robbie was amazing as Barbie. The 2001 beginning scene was an awesome touch. I love that Will Farrell is the Mattel CEO. He is always so funny and dramatic with roles such as that.

I still liked Oppenheimer more.

I’m a HUGE fan of Cillian Murphy and have been waiting for Oppenheimer since I heard Cillian would be the star of the movie. Cillian is also in my top hot actors list, I’ve been in love with the guy since I saw 28 Days Later when I was 16.

I mean, have you seen the guy? He is up there with Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl in my opinion. 😍😍😍

Back to the subject at hand, Oppenheimer was a MASTERPIECE. Nolan never fails to disappoint. It is 3 hours long to do get a quiet fidget toy. I was pretty focused on the movie so it wasn’t too much of a problem. My favorite theater has a bar so I often saw people getting up for a 2nd and third drink based on the amount of cans I heard opening.

That’s what I hate about ASD you get in the focus of something and then you hear some measly background noise and the focus is gone.

I want to point out the scenes where Oppenheimer is overwhelmed/getting a sensory overload. I read another article that Nolan wanted to really capture what it’s really like to be in that situation. Like really really be in that situation. As someone that often (well not as often now that I left a stressful job) experiences being overwhelmed or a sensory overload Nolan was spot on. Especially with the amount of stress and trauma Oppie endured, the sounds and cinematography of it really had you feeling it. Heck for a minute I was feeling the feels of stress, anxiety and burnout I was feeling at my previous job.

I would definitely recommend doing some reading on the Manhattan Project before seeing. There is lots of awesome videos explaining the whole story. It will definitely give you a better understanding of the events unfolding.

Also, want to give a shout out to Gary Oldman (like he would see this post 😅) for playing president Truman the president from my home state and I even live half an hour away from his hometown 😂 and went to a school named after him. Oldman def got that Midwestern accent down 😂

I always forget that it was Truman that signed off on the big kaboom boom to go down. Makes me wanna say, way to go MO! We got buildings, streets, and schools named after this guy 😂 *I’m joking, the events of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were tragic*

I am definitely looking forward to seeing Oppenheimer again. I’ve yet to see it with my dad who is also a fan of Chris Nolan’s work. Heck the guy had not one but two professors that were involved in the Manhattan Project when he was at KU back in the early to mid eighties.

RIP my bank account buying all these movie tickets and snacks 😅
