"theodore. theodore! please im really cold i need to go get a hoodie from my dorm," you begged as the boy opened his eyes and perked up.

you stared in confusion at his reaction before he sat up slightly and slipped his slytherin hoodie off, handing it you with a happy smile. you almost melted at the sight.

"thanks theo" you smiled at him with a light blush before putting it on and allowing the boy to rest back onto you.

"it looks better on you anyways , keep it." he winked at you with a grin before closing his eyes again.

you admired him carefully , moving your hand to run through his hair softly , theo leaning into your touch with a blissful smile.

"whats your favourite planet theo?" you asked in a hushed tone as the boys eyebrows furrowed in confusion , his eyes opening to look up at you.

"why?"

"you take astronomy right? you know more about the planets than me. so which is your favourite and why? im just..curious" you reasoned as he hummed and closed his eyes again.

"saturn." he stated simply.

"that was quick. how come?" you asked in curiousity , you werent allowed to take astronomy because you already signed up for other classes instead- so naturally you wanted to expand your knowledge on the topic.

"its got nothing to do with anything scientific or meaningful , its just pretty. like you." he said as you gasped at his last two words.

"you think im not meaningful?!" you dramatically asked in fake offence , laughing at the boys horrified face as he began to stutter out an argument.

"no its not that - definitely not! you mean everything to me! youre just...really pretty. like saturn" he mumbled and rambled trying hard to not upset you.

"dont worry theo , i was joking!" you laughed as he let out a sigh of relief, "ive always liked the moon."

"thats not a planet." theo scoffed in amusement.

"hey dont be rude of course i know that!" you both laughed , "but i like the moon because its pretty, like you."

"you cant call me pretty." he crossed his arms in frustration.

"and why not?" you teased.

"im handsome - not pretty" he complained , blushing red when you laugh and place a kiss on his cheek.

"you're both, does being called pretty damage your little male ego?" you laughed at him.

"shut up" he mumbled.

"im only joking theo , youre more than pretty and handsome , i mean look at that beautiful face!" you grinned and pushed his curls off his forehead.

he blushed deeply and tried to hide his face from you, leading you to giggle and kiss his cheek that was facing you.

meanwhile across the common room , mattheo and draco watch you from a distance.

"i dont get how she does it." mattheo said in astonishment , watching as you tickled theodore and made him smile and laugh so brightly.

"its incredible. must be some kind of magic." draco stated , equally as intruiged.

"yeah , pretty , funny and smart y/n magic," mattheo scoffed as draco nodded , acknowlegding that in reality, you were the full package.

"youre right. i honestly dont blame him." draco shrugged.

there was a short silence before mattheo finally looked away fromy you and theo , turning to draco and making draco mirror his movements.

"10 galleons that he says i love you first." mattheo stuck his hand out for draco to shake.

draco seemed skeptical before taking his hand and shaking it firmly , "sure, ill bet the latter then."

mattheo smirked at him , assuming it was obvious theodore would infact say i love you before you did.

"i cant believe you just bet that?! merlin malfoy you have no emotional intelligence do you!" mattheo laughed , assuming he had already won the bet.

"jokes on you riddle , y/n already told theo she loves him. yesterday , youd be suprised how much theo confines in me," malfoy smirked seeing mattheos shocked face.

"what?!" mattheo seethed , "why wouldnt he tell me first? did he say it back?!"

I'm such a big fan of your art, ITS SO BEAUTIFUL - I was just wondering if you have any tips for younger artists such as myself (I haven't been doing it for that long) - I'm just looking to improve and I really look up to your art as inspiration because of how much I love it 😭 your colours and lines are gorgeous I mean even your sketches are so fleshed out aaaa!!

Hii thank youuu <3 and sorry for taking so long to respond, I kind of forgot about my askbox for a while fjksksfk but yeah I can definitely spare some tips!!

First off, for learning I'd recommend the site drawabox. It's perfect for beginners and has videos that walk you through each of the early steps of learning how to draw, from how to hold your pen to what the fundamentals are to gradually giving you drawing challenges. It's sooo so helpful, besides being really comprehensive in how it teaches you. I can't recommend it enough.

There's also a lot of great teachers on youtube, like Ahmed Aldoori, Marc Brunet, and Proko who all have great study tips and tutorials organized in playlists on their channels, whenever you want to keep expanding your skillset.

Another tip I have, which is more of a mental health tip(though just as important in my opinion), is to be patient with your art. It's a journey, it's long and the road isn't straight, and that's okay. What's important is that you stick to it and keep finding ways to have fun along the way. There's a lot to learn and a lot to study, and honestly I don't think artists ever really stop learning ajdkkd there's always more things to study, more things to get better at. So I definitely recommend you don't overwhelm yourself with how much there is or get frustrated with not being able to "get there" fast, but instead try to enjoy the process. Do studies, do challenges, but don't neglect drawing for yourself purely to have some fun. Not everything needs to help you improve, not everything needs to serve a purpose, not everything needs to even be seen by others. Sometimes all you need is to draw this thing you really wanted to draw and that's it. And that's the healthiest thing you can do for yourself, honestly. I can't deny that art is frustrating sometimes, but it shouldn't be frustrating all the time. If it is, you could be walking right into a burnout and get the art block that comes along with it. So I definitely recommend taking it one step at a time and always making time to draw for yourself.

The Lincoln Lawyer [tv] - I love a good legal show and this is really fun. I also like that they’ve expanded on Haller’s Mexican heritage in the show compared to the books and while I hate they've split the season in half, am looking forward to the new episdodes in August

Sims 4 [game] - yes I’m a simmer, no, I don’t care if you judge me for that. This franchise has had a hold on me since the first iteration and it may never stop.

Interrupting my usual posting to talk abt Cereza and the Lost Demon because I just beat the game today and I wanted to share my thoughts. Keep in mind I have never played a Bayonetta game in my life lmao

So first off the game is fucking fantastic. I had a wonderful time with it truly. The game is gorgeous to look at and it uses the storybook artstyle to its advantage and it is AWESOME. Nearly every area in the game had my jaw dropping cause it just looked so beautiful. In a similar vein the music was really good and I will definitely be going through the soundtrack for my playlist.

The gameplay is honestly really solid. Basically you control Cereza with the left stick, and use her actions with the L and ZL buttons, and you control Cheshire (the demon) with the right stick, and use his actions with the R and ZR buttons. The D-pad lets Cereza use one of four items and the face buttons control Cheshire's transformations. Controlling one character with each stick takes a while to get used to but it does work really well. The puzzles using this mechanic were really good too and I enjoyed them a lot. The combat can be a bit clunky at times but I think it works pretty well, using Cereza as a support character to hold the enemies in place while Cheshire wails on them. I will say it gets to be a bit of a slog towards the end of the game when every required Tir na nOg is an enemy gauntlet and none of them are puzzles, but it's not too bad.

I must say I wasn't expecting the game to be a metroidvania but it really is and a well-designed one at that. Getting blocked off by something you can't get through until you have a certain power and then coming back to it later is fun and looping back around or opening up shortcuts is always something I enjoy. The unfortunate part of this is that the game's map SUCKS ASS and the areas are very mazelike, so I had a lot of trouble trying to clean up items. I really wanted to finish off more of the skill tree before I beat the game but I wandered around in many areas and made very little progress with actually obtaining the items I could literally see just sitting on my map but couldn't figure out how to get to. If the map was better designed I probably would have gone for 100%.

Speaking of the skill tree, I liked it a lot. When I first saw it I thought it was gonna be tiny, but it actually expands twice more throughout the game. And I like that they don't let you get to the good stuff right off the bat, cause that means there are still cool upgrades to strive for by the end of the game. One thing I wish is that there were more upgrades that didn't cost Inferno Fruits/Moon Pearls cause when I have a fat stack of cash but cannot find a way to access the other items I need, it ends up being really frustrating.

As someone who has not played another Bayonetta game ever, I liked the plot a lot and I can confirm you don't need to play any other Bayo games to enjoy this one. It works really well as a standalone, and it establishes the lore and mechanics of the Bayonetta world pretty adequately without needing any background. It's also just a really heartwarming and fascinating plot. I cried at the end. I thought it was gonna be super basic and conventional but it did some really unexpected (for me at least) things in the end.

Tl;dr, if you like metroidvanias with cool artstyles I highly recommend it, whether or not you've played Bayonetta. I'd give it a solid 9.5/10.

A few more spoilery (and rambly) thoughts under the cut:

CHESHIRE AND CEREZA OH MY GOD MY HEART. Their friendship was so well done. The fact that you can SEE them growing closer in their animations together AUGH I love it so much. They try to go their own separate ways but they just can't do it without each other. Cereza is pretty helpless without Cheshire but he can't do it without her either. AUGH

I LOVED the Jabberwock sequence. Letting Cereza struggle with her own fear and then overcoming it and unlocking an ability that will allow them to defeat it and the confidence that comes with that. Meanwhile Cheshire realizing that he's not strong enough to beat it without her help and being deeply humbled by that fact. And when they team up to defeat this monster, this thing that has destroyed witch and faerie alike, and that Cereza was paralyzed with fear of and Cheshire almost got killed by, and we KILL it ONCE AND FOR ALL, it's so empowering and grand and awesome GOD.

And Cereza rejecting her teacher and every convention of being a witch and cutting her hair to save Cheshire. It's SUCH an impactful moment. It really shows how different she is. Everyone is telling her that demons are nothing but tools, to be used for the gain of a witch and then cast aside back to Inferno like they're nothing. But right from the start Cereza shows she's different. She refuses to use Cheshire as a tool, respecting him as a person and understanding that she has to get him back to Inferno because that's where he wants to be. She reasons with him, instead of controlling him. She works with him. She protects him, she sacrifices everything to save him. She is probably the only witch who has ever treated a demon like a person. GODDDDDDD

Okay onto the ending stuff. I remember as I was playing the game I was like "what if Morgana was a villain lol." And during the cutscene where Lukaon reveals his name I was like "this stuff sounds hella manipulative, it would be funny if he was the villain." But the story seemed pretty basic and formulaic and I kind of assumed the villain would be pretty boring. Like why would you fight the friendly person who's been guiding you through your whole journey? Why would your beloved teacher turn against you? But god, they really did it. And I LOVE that they did. Neither of these twist villains were a surprise to me, but that didn't make them less awesome.

The fight with Lukaon was super cool. I loved having to get all of Cheshire's transformations back, and then transforming into the Unbound form and getting a whole new awesome moveset was so freaking good. It was truly the culmination of everything we've accomplished, both in the fact that we get each transformation as an attack on the face buttons but also that Cereza and Cheshire control together, showing how they're a team.

Oh and kind of an aside but speaking of Lukaon I really liked that blue was always the color of the faeries, the color associated with evil. That's true for everything...except the tracks of the White Wolf. EXCEPT LUKAON/THE WHITE WOLF IS A FAERIE AND ENDS UP BEING OUR ENEMY (briefly). That just occurred to me but like THAT'S SO COOL I LOVE THE FORESHADOWING

The final fight with Morgana was hard as BALLS though. I got maybe three game overs in the whole game up until this point but it took me seven tries to beat Morgana. And of course I ran out of all my healing items and they didn't give them back. It was awesome to win but it felt like an odd difficulty spike right at the end though lol.

Man I'm not ashamed to say that I CRIED when Cheshire went back to Inferno. I was hoping against all odds that the two of them would stick together (ofc that wouldn't happen) but of course he had to go back. But their mutual promise to see each other again, to be stronger when they each meet? YEAAAHHHHHH THAT SHIT MADE ME CRY AUGH

Okay that's it. I saw this game in the direct last year and was quite intrigued by the artstyle and gameplay and decided to pick it up but I didn't think it was gonna be THIS good. It absolutely exceeded my expectations and I'm gonna be thinking about it for a while yet.

nonnieeee!! but it wouldn't be a surprise now, don't you think so?

okay honestly, i wasn't planning on working on a long helsa series, though i did have a similar plan with the 'marriage of convenience' trope as the core of the series.

what started out was really just a series of twitter banters with my friend that expanded into fully fleshed plots, with some spanning over a month or three depending on how far the plot develops.

truthfully, i've been yearning to find a writing partner who could match my writing style and be excited to write SO MUCH about a ship. while helsa initially wasn't my OTP ( yes, i started out as jelsa ), somewhere in 2022, i turned into an ardent helsa shipper thanks to my other friend.

ANYWAY, back to the series ( me and my big mouth can't hold it back anymore ):

the entire premise of the story takes place after the events of Frozen 1, but not until Frozen 2. her magic is still there, just not at the forefront as it did in the first movie. and oh, yeah, it's in the mid-1800s! there's also inspiration drawn from ( majorly ) the frozen musical, a frozen heart and a little bit of dangerous secrets.

others may have written something similar like mine, but this is really an extensive series of ‘what-ifs’ that mainly focuses on the aftermath of her coronation, her struggles of trying to be a good queen for arendelle and all the times she shouldn’t hang out with hans, who showed up on arendelle after serving his prison sentence for two years ( roughly ) – which led to her falling for his pretense like anna.

of course, there's a few original characters that we made for this series! besides that, i personally have a pinterest board dedicated to hans and elsa, alongside a spotify playlist that follows their entire journey :D

there’s also an element of hans’s morally grey side, which, as santino fontana said, hans isn't what he seems to be ( meaning he has personal motivations like any other people ) and my lovely friend who writes as hans has the most detailed lore on him and everything, and i honestly couldn't be luckier and so SO grateful to know them and write together ❤️

obviously, when we started plotting, we realized that their story's going to be LONG, and we've decided to break it down into three major acts. the second act is arguably going to be the longest and where we are currently.

so, the theme of the story is the title of the series itself: 'in hindsight'.

in hindsight is basically a sequel to a prequel titled 'shattering ice'. in this one, the story explicitly deals with her first visit to the isles and meeting the star-studded cast of the westergaards whom, again, my friend here has built – completely tragic, awful, and all things negative that shows who they are as a family.

also the prequel will serve as the starting point of their relationship because we don't want to jump on that chemistry building with haste.

right now, we're mostly focusing on in hindsight and pretty much pausing shattering ice. also, because the former became a full blown series, i had to upgrade my g-drive storage hahaha so all of their past plots and current ones are safely stored in there.

all in all, this series is arguably the most special endeavor i've ever done. it's got a TON of emotional realism in there, soft moments in the form of jane austen-esque longing touches kinda way, gut-wrenching angst and a bittersweet ending ( i'm not ready for the last part, but we've planned on how the series will end ).

even in spite of our busy schedules, we found time to keep writing out the replies, info-dumping personal headcanons of our characters and hyping each other whenever the ship had their fluff / angst moment. i seriously could not thank my friend enough, and i really appreciate her for all the helsa brainrots ❤️

and finally, the reason i've not put it up on AO3 is because i didn't want that invisible pressure of needing to update it. i mean, yes, it's still ongoing, but imagine if i just upload the complete series and voila? basically giving a delight to potential readers that the series is done hahaha.

i don't foresee we'll finish it by end of this year, even though we started out since june last year. but who knows, it could end well until the following year?

What I Watched in April: Mini Movie Reviews

In January 2024, I made the New Year's resolution to start watching more and better films. April was a big month for me because I inadvertently discovered Bollywood!! Now I can't believe I lived almost 30 years without Indian cinema in my life.

Here we go:

1. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995): On a long plane ride, I look up international films, and the only one I find is DDLJ. I never heard of it before. I press play, noting the 3-hour runtime. And I'm...absorbed. I'm watching on a tiny, dimly lit airplane screen, but I cannot look away. 

I'm fascinated by the dancing, how expressive the actors' faces are while they dance, and the way the voices singing are so clearly not the actors'.

(I now know this is all normal for Indian cinema.)

When I got home, I looked up the movie online and learned it's probably India's most famous romance musical, it was the most successful Bollywood film of the 90s, and the male lead, Shah Rukh Khan, is a huge deal in Indian cinema. Immediately, I crave more... Grade: A

2. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023): This was the perfect next movie for me. Released almost 30 years later, it still has all the things I loved about DDLJ while being much less sexist. It's also so gorgeous. Maybe the prettiest movie I've ever seen. I have "Heartthrob" on my Spotify playlist. I need it in my ears weekly for my health. Grade: A++

3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998): Another romance musical starring Shah Rukh Khan. I didn't love this one, honestly. It was just too sexist, and I wasn't a fan of the plot. Grade: C–

4. Star Wars (1977): It sounds fake to say I'd never seen the original Star Wars before, but I hadn't. Campier than expected but not my thing tbh. Grade: C–

5. American Fiction (2023): This movie was...fine? I don't get its Oscars attention, but I also disliked all the other big movies at the Oscars this year, so. Grade: B

6. Hero (2002): YEAH!!! This is like kung fu Rashomon. The cinematography is gorgeous. I loved it. Grade: A

7. Satyaprem Ki Katha (2023): This is about a beautiful, suicidal girl and the guy who forces her to marry him (don't worry, he's the hero!1). Yeah... A lot of this was...not well-executed. But it kind of felt like they'd picked a hurt/comfort fic off of AO3 and gave it a cinematic budget, so... Grade: B

8. Weekend (2011): Directed by Andrew Haigh, who also directed Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal in All of Us Strangers. Weekend feels very connected to that movie, and they're both excellent. This one leaves you with a similar bittersweet ache. Grade: A

9. Rotting in the Sun (2023): Director Sebastián Silva stars himself in movie about an asshole, depressive director who's of so little use to the world that he might as well just, like, kill himself. Yeah. This movie is A LOT. I really loved it. Everyone talks about how there are 800 penises in this movie, but I found that to be not at all its biggest talking point. If you've never been depressed before, this might expand your empathy. Grade: A

10. Coolie (1983): I don't know where to start. It's an action movie. Starring an impoverished train station worker. *Stefan voice* This movie has everything: amnesiac moms, a commie who pretends to be a statue, a dash of sexual assault, and a telepathic falcon that fights gangsters. I don't know!!! Wild! Grade: B

11. Monkey Man (2024): I am fascinated by Dev Patel's directorial debut. It's an action film meant predominantly for Western audiences, right? But it makes no effort to explain Indian cultures, myths, religions, or politics to the viewer, even though the story is dependent on them. The main character's arc is all about fulfilling his dharma, so if you don't know what dharma is, good luck!

I watched this movie one time, felt like I didn't sufficiently understand it, spent a week reading up on Modi's politics, the hijra community, and the Ramayana, and then went back to the theater to watch it again. My conclusion? Good movie. Grade: A–

12. Padmaavat (2018): This historical tragedy musical romance (Bollywood films are just whatever they want to be) was controversial when it came out for being historically inaccurate and depicting jauhar (mass suicide). I, on a personal level, loved it. I found it deeply moving, cathartic, and utterly beautiful. My second Ranveer Singh film btw, and I was NOT expecting him to have that acting range. Grade: A+ (personal grade, not a commentary on its politics)

Going forward:

I want to watch more Indian cinema, and not just movies in Hindi. That's honestly all I can think about right now. I'm obsessed.

But that what if expanded my brain and take that inspiration of Hunter's feral state and obsession with human flesh. So this fucker was the one that started it all of me creating Skyler's villain verse.

Paxton Fettel (F.E.A.R. Series) Another cannibal character theme whee and also there is a lot of hints of that unhinged personality depends on certain upcoming verses I am planning. But Paxton really inspires me from his feral attacks and just vibes of just at the edge of creep and insanity as Hunter gets slowly pushed into that direction. Again depending on which verse he falls into it's gonna get worse.

Jason Todd ( Behind the Red Hood/Batman.) Ironically I rp this character lmao. Honestly a lot of the spotify playlists of Todd gets me into the mood of writing Hunter as well. Also both are pretty relatable on the hostility and at the edge of unhinged and do whatever it takes to get what they want. Both are really tragic characters for their different reasons.

Steve (Fresh 2022 Horror Movie.) Can I stop picking villians with cannibalistic tendencies? Nah. Steve isn't over the top like Paxton, but he is at the right level of sounding like normal, but there is a sense of red flags going on. This character really inspired me to go deeper for Hunter and just dives into more ideas of make this muse even more miserable.

Nimona (Nimona Movie) God....I don't want to spoil this movie, but personality wise this is when Hunter gets more open to certain people, but a lot more gremlin. It's one of those you gotta work really hard to get to like him so far only one person did that so good luck fam!

Dustswap Sonic ( Dustswap FNF) Okay yeah Duster Ring is a banger song, but this Sonic design just made me scream that really gives me Hunter aesthetics. It's pretty close to what just needs a punk vest underneath. I was thinking that since he tends to hide away so him wearing a hoodie makes sense.

1. Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike?

You know, that's actually a really good question. Because I suppose I do daydream a lot, all things considered? Er, sort of? So I have ADHD, for anyone who is reading this and happens to be new around here, and thus my brain is constantly running what is effectively the Tokyo Metro of Thought, except frequently the train carrying what I'm actively talking about crashes.

That said, I'm pretty good at marshaling those thoughts? And it's not often that I find myself actively daydreaming in any kind of escapism or genuine world disregarding fantastical ways, so... If I daydream it's usually just about what I'm already working on, which pretty much leads to me just writing as soon as I'm thinking about it. Sometimes I'll have a scene fix itself in my head, but I don't mind writing on my phone and will stop what I'm doing to get stuff down if lines or moments come to me.

13. Do you listen to music while you write?  If yes, what have you been listening to recently?

Why yes, I listen to music while I write. Actually I listen to a LOT of music when I write. Frankly I just listen to a lot of music.

Lately I've been working on the trio I started back in 2021 (which has now expanded to include a fourth bonus piece) as a gift for Dummy that was focused on Wild which was the following sequence of songs:

Out of Time and Out of Place - Your Bones, Of Monsters and Men Thoughts Like These - Sloom, Of Monsters and Men Into the Woods, Take Me Home - Six Weeks, Of Monsters and Men

The upcoming bonus is also based on Sloom, that's I'll Meet Your Eyes. So I'll usually run those three at some point in the day! And then Blue Lips by Regina Spektor if I need a little bit of framing for how I'm working with Wild.

Pretty much everything I work with is already in my day to day playlists, so it's just a matter of me picking those out first in the shuffle when I start writing.

I've been hitting Coldplay pretty hard recently, but especially the Live in Buenos Aires recording, which might well be the best vinyl I own. Also, Two Steps From Hell has been on a TSFH Fridays tear as of late which has netted me Memoria, Night Queen, Atlantis Ascending, and Off the Map to name a few. I'll always jam to those though.

Also? Stellaris soundtrack. Top tier shit.

Honestly, the only things I banish from my ears when writing are musicals. Those distract me too much.
