Look don’t get me wrong I love the PJO TV show. The cast is perfect and some moments that were added I absolutely loved. But… there are some things I felt were so well done in the book there was no need to change it and I’m a little disappointed by the adaptation’s version.
Some of these takes I saw from other people and it put into words what I was feeling so I’m just expanding on what they said.
1. Gabe could’ve been worse. We are supposed to get mean Smelly Gabe vibes and Sally isn’t supposed to feel comfortable standing up to him. I understand “girl boss” and disneys restrictions but it still wasn’t great. I’m hoping they add something towards the end so his murder feels deserved.
Edit: upon a rewatch I take this back and believe Gabe was still abusive, if not physically as in the book, but as manipulative and demanding which is still abuse so I actually appreciate the changes they made now.
2. Sally felt off. Like they read her plot points but didn’t understand her character. She is wholesome and kind and devoted to Percy. The Sally we know never would’ve put that much pressure on Grover, plus him putting the pressure on himself is vital to his character. They also made her seemingly pine for Poseidon. They shouldn’t have changed the way she described her relationship with him and the choices she made to keep Percy safe. (I will say though that the Jesus joke was perfect and hilarious)
Edit: upon rewatch I still believe the wholesomeness was lost a little but I have come to like her character more and think these changes allow for greater depth into Sally’s story which I’m excited for.
3. We should’ve gotten Percy remembering the warm glow of Poseidon. I thought it was important that Poseidon broke the rules and came to see Percy when he was a baby and had that memory.
4. Percy thinking that Annabeth looked like a goddess when he first saw her was so cute and said a lot about how he viewed her. I think they should’ve kept it.
5. I think Luke being the one to guide Percy around the camp was a great choice, but Annabeth should’ve been part of welcoming scenes. And Grover should’ve been the one to tell the story of Thalia.
Edit: Episode 3’s reveal of Grover’s story was genius I take this back!
6. The claiming in the book was perfect! There was no reason to change the dialogue or have the trident not be the way it’s originally described. And seeing the campers reactions/having them bow down was important. I was underwhelmed tbh.
7. Percy is SMART! He was the one to put together that Sally was alive and agree to the quest in order to get her back. There was no reason for Grover to be the one to do it.
Otherwise it was wonderful. I still love it immensely and the care into the heart of the show I feel is still there. I can’t wait for next week!
And yes, I know Rick wrote the episodes and was a part of every single choice that was made so if he wants to leave something out obviously he knows his story the best this is just my opinion.

There was something off about Luke. You could tell the moment you saw him. Even though you’ve only been dating for 4 months now, you know when something is wrong. During the party that the Dionysus kids insisted they threw (for pretty much no reason), he wasn’t his usual smiley and outgoing self. He seemed reserved and quiet. You were outside the dining pavilion talking to some other kids from camp. In the glow of the torches, everyone was laughing and having a good time except for him. You weren't either, but you tried to look like you were. Your arm was wrapped around his as you leaned against him and listened to the conversation, though you couldn’t focus on what they were saying. You kept glancing up at Luke every minute or so to see if he looked any happier (he never did). 
After the conversation fades out, you pull him away to a quiet area and whisper to him, “Luke, are you okay… you seem… off.”
He sighs and looks away for a second before answering, “Let’s talk by the lake.” 
Anxiety grows in your stomach. What could this mean? You just nod as he grabs your hand and takes you to the lake. The water is pitch black in the night and there is a chill in the summer air. He lets go of your hand and looks down to see your face. 
“I’m sorry… there’s just a lot going on right now,” His hand scratches the back of neck as he says this. 
“You don’t have to be sorry, Luke. I’m listening,” you say, as you look him in the eyes and gently grab his hand. “I know it must be hard since Percy and Annabeth went on that quest, I know she was like a little sister to you.”
Nervously, he clears his throat. “Yeah, but, um, it’s not just that…”
“Oh…what is it?”
He sighs and lowers his head, “Look, just promise me that you won’t view me any differently after I tell you this.”
“No, no,” you say hastily, while shaking your head. “There’s nothing you could ever say to me that will make me view you differently, Luke. I’ll love you no matter what, I promise.”
Luke looks you in the eyes again. “Nothing?”
“Nothing,” a reassuring smile grows on your face.
He can’t help but smile with you. He’ll remember that. “Look, it’s just about my dad… Do you ever feel… betrayed by our godly parents?”
Taken aback by the question, you stop to think before answering. “Betrayed how?”
“Like, they just ignore us, like we’re nothing to them. Like we’re not even their children.”
“I-I guess so. I mean I feel like that sometimes.”
“That shouldn’t be how it is, though,” He sighs and keeps talking. “I don’t think Hermes even knows most of his kids. Most of my half siblings have barely met him, if at all. It’s just so… infuriating. He goes around, siring kids, and then sits up in Olympus and just leaves them. I’ve spent my entire fucking life wondering where my father is. Waiting for him to maybe one day come and talk to me or just acknowledge my existence. But, no. I’ve only met him once, because he can’t be bothered to get to know his own fucking kid!” 
For a moment, he runs his hand through his curls and exhales before he continues. “And what I’m about to say might sound… bad…but seeing Percy get claimed just like that after finding out he’s a half blood for, like, what a week? It just intensified everything I felt before… Like some kid just shows up and now he’s loved by everyone and claimed by his father. And yet, I fight everyday and what do I get? Nothing! I’m the best sword fighter in camp, I pray, I give offerings, I’ve done everything right. But it’s still not enough for him… I’m just so fucking tired of these Gods just doing whatever they want and not caring who they hurt…”
After saying all that he turns back to look at you. You're standing there in stunned silence, unsure of what to say. 
“Luke, I… I’m so sorry,” you walk over and give him a hug. He hugs you back and rests his chin on your head. A few silent moments pass as you stay like that. The sound of campers excitedly chatting and partying could be heard distantly behind them. 
“Do you see me differently now?” He asks, quietly.
You pull away, but keep your hands on his arms, gripping him gently. “No, Luke, I really don’t. I told you nothing you say will ever make me view you differently.”
“I know it’s just that… most people would think that I’m… weak for feeling this…”
“Weak?” You look shocked. “How could anyone ever think you’re weak? You’re one of the strongest people I know!” You kiss him softly on the cheek and smile reassuringly causing a slight blush to appear on his cheeks. 
“I understand what you’re saying, trust me. I, of all people, understand what it’s like to do your best to get your parent’s love and praise… and yet, it’s never enough,” You say, trying to give him a sympathetic look.
“You understand?” Luke asks, his face softening a bit. 
“I understand all too well…” You say with a humorless laugh. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love my mom, but…”
“But?” 
“Well, y’know with Aphrodite being the goddess of beauty and all…there’s, um, a lot of pressure for us to look a certain way…”
Sighing slightly, Luke brushes a strand of your hair behind your ear. “Is this about… dieting?” He says it carefully, unsure of how to word it correctly. 
“Yeah,” you look away, ashamed to be telling someone this. “I’ve been counting calories since I learned to count. I obsess over every little thing I consume. I eat as little as I can, yet it always feels like too much. I go on runs or swims everyday… and it’s still never enough. I’m never thin enough… I love my mom, but… I can’t help, but feel like she made me start doing this.”
Now it’s Luke’s turn to stand there in stunned silence. “I had no idea… that you’re going through all this. I-I’m sorry, I should’ve noticed.” He thinks back to everyday in the dining pavilion when he’d look over to you at the Aphrodite table and see you playing with your food instead of eating. Or all the times when you’d say you weren’t hungry and would change the subject to anything besides food. Or all the daily runs he’d see you go on. Or, most concerning of all, the quick weight loss. How all your clothes that used to fit, now hang over your body like a shower curtain. Your once cherub-like face became pale and almost gaunt with dark circles under your eyes and a tired expression always. How has no one noticed? How has he never noticed?
You just shake your head and give him a gentle smile. “Luke, it’s okay. I tried my hardest to keep it hidden. Also, my mental state isn’t your responsibility…”
“But I’m your boyfriend,” grabbing your hands gently, he looks at you with a sympathetic expression. “It’s my job to care for you, especially when you’re… sick. Does anyone else know?”
“No,” you shake your head once more. “You’re the first person I told… It’s not a big deal, I’m not even that sick.”
“What?” He says, his eyebrows furrowing together as a shocked expression etches onto his face. “Not that sick? Y/N, you’re starving yourself! That sounds pretty sick to me.”
You just shrug in response.
“How long have you been doing this?”
“Since like,10 or 11. I told you, I’ve been counting calories since I learned to count.”
He stands there quietly for a bit, as his heart sinks. “That young?”
“Yeah,” you respond. 
“If you don’t mind me asking… How many calories do you eat in a day?”
“I-I don’t know,” you lie, you know exactly how many calories you consume, down to the stick of gum you’d chew for a snack. “Like about 400-800…” You try (and fail) to fight back a smile that grows on your face. Despite how unhealthy it is, you can’t help, but feel proud of it. 
Luke, on the other hand, just feels shocked and concerned. “That-that’s nothing… and for so long. Y/N, you need help. You’re killing yourself.”
“I know, believe me, I know… But I can’t stop.” 
He reaches up and cups your face, rubbing circles with his thumbs before kissing your forehead. “I wish you could realize you’re perfect the way you are. I wish you could see yourself the way everyone else does,” he says it softly. “I’d love you, no matter how you look.”
“Really?” You ask, while a blush appears on your cheeks.
“Really,” He says, tenderly grabbing your waist and pulling you close to him. You rest your head against his chest and once again, you stay like that for a while.
Slowly, you pull away and smile softly at him. “I’m getting tired, can you stay with me tonight?... Not to do anything, but just like to… be with me…” You hastily added the last part, but hesitated. Most guys don’t react kindly to you saying you don’t want to do anything.
“Of course,” Luke responds. “But can you do me a favor?”
“Anything.”
“Can you try to… eat better tomorrow? Please, just try…”
You hesitate before answering, “I will. I’ll try.”
He smiles brightly, “That’s my girl.” He gently grabs your hand and walks you to Cabin 10.
You spend the rest of the night together in your bed. However, Luke doesn’t get much sleep. 
He holds you close to his chest as you sleep and thinks about everything you had told him. He hates himself for not noticing sooner. But a very small part of him feels relieved. If your mom caused you this much pain, then maybe convincing you to join him in taking down the Gods wouldn’t be as hard as he thought…
He hates himself even more for thinking that.

I cannot get over how perfect the casting was for the show as a whole, but I want to highlight how perfect the gods were.
I can see Lin Manuel Miranda visiting May, checking up on her, while she waits for Luke to come home.
I see his defeated expression when his son dies. How he clearly blames himself
I can see him blaming Annabeth and Thalia for not changing his mind
I can see him talking to George and Martha, and helping Percy sneak out of camp
I can see Jay Duplass buying Hazel colored pencils, and fumbling about trying to raise Nico.
I can see him with his hands over his ears trying to ignore Nico’s nagging to get him to join the battle of Manhattan.
I can see his face when his Mother in Law moves in and tries to make everyone eat cereal.
I can see his anger as Maria DiAngelo is murdered. And How he just barely manages to save his children.
This is the man who cursed the oracle in rage and pain. Saying no one could take her place as long as his kids were outcasts
I can see him lock up the boy his son is crushing on, and being beaten up by him five minutes later.
I can send Timothy Omundson watching monitors, keeping tabs on Leo and his siblings, wishing he knew how to talk to them.
I can see him building mechanical animals and visiting Calypso.
I can see him saving the head of his son’s pet dragon. So proud that he was able to tame it and put it back together.
Can’t you see Toby Stephens offering to build a palace for Sally Jackson
See him falling in love with her
See him still in love with her.
He tells Percy that he’s his favorite son.
He lets his home be destroyed because his son asked him to come help.
I can see his face light up when he thinks Paul’s last name is Blowfish.
I can imagine Adam Copeland taking his anger out on Clarisse. Demanding that she take his revenge. Blaming her. Demanding she earn her keep.
I can see him with a grenade pen, bullying terrified kids into giving Frank a promotion, and the look on his and everyone else’s face when amnesiac Percy says that he’s pretty sure he’s beat him up before.
We’ll never get to see Lance Reddik turn Thalia into a tree.
Or him fall for a movie star and have two children with her.
We’ll never see him promise one of them to his wife as a peace offering.
But can’t you just imagine the look on his face when he offers Percy immortality, and in return gets told to pay his child support.
and Jason Mantazoukus is literally Dionysus. There is no question.
This is the man who eats popcorn and watches drama go down between campers
Genuinely distraught when he loses Castor. He asked Percy to protect Pollux cause he can’t stand the thought of losing another child
The god who refuses to acknowledge or learn anyone’s names because knowing their names makes it more difficult when he watches them go off and die
who doesn’t like Percy or demigods like him because they remind him of Theseus.
Who helps mend Chris’s minds after he goes mad in the maze.
Who pretends not to care because he cares too much.
The gods can change their form and look like whatever the heck they want, but it takes true talent for an actor to fill those shoes so perfectly. I love it.

no wait wait wait hear me out about how the four beads is a truly devious and smart addition
so starting off with four beads from the dryad establishes a few things:
1. getting out of the underworld wasn’t something they really thought about yet (too many steps ahead, I also have ADHD I get it)
2. poseidon HAS thought of that problem and has made the beads in preparation to protect them
3. poseiden thought about rescuing sally when planning how to get everyone back safely, not just percy and his friends
2 & 3 plant the seeds (a long with the dryad’s words and hermes’ comments) that poseiden really does care about percy (and sally!). yes I know I know, bare minimum to care about your kid etc. but considering this is a show and we don’t get percy’s internal monologue it kinda makes sense to have a little more details that make poseiden seem better to the audience
[read more break to not clog up the tag. I promise I get into the angst shortly]
all these little bits that imply poseiden really does want to be there for him but can’t, that he’s been watching from afar because he didn’t want zeus to find out he broke the pact and take his anger out on his son and former love (yes, love! this is the man/god that wanted sally to be his queen with him in his underwater kingdom!!!). I actually really like the idea of those posts about how he has been helping out in little ways over the years because. let’s be real for a second. NO WAY does sally afford that apartment AND have the ability to send percy to specialized boarding schools with the salary of a CANDY SHOP EMPLOYEE. I get it I get it, the gods are deadbeats, but I’ll admit I kind of like the idea that he’s been doing what he feasibly could without getting caught by making extra money appear in sally’s bank account or sm
making him seem (and possibly be) more sympathetic is another reason that fuels percy to change the system rather than join luke to tear it all down. he knows the system is bad but he sees hope and truly believes it can be changed for the better. that is something that can be saved, not destroyed
4. this is kinda irrelevant but I like that it is the dryad that agrees to give percy the pearls after poseiden says for him and his friends to go back to camp because she wants him to have a chance to change things. gives her a little bit more agency. (also y’all she’s SO pretty in gay but moving in)
so. four beads.
if we want to keep the dilemma and character growth that comes with there only being three beads and someone having to make a sacrifice, something needs to happen: one of the beads breaks or someone loses it
is it percy? who has realized they need four beads for EVERYONE to come back and is horrified that they now only have three, meaning either he himself or one of the most important people to him has to be left behind in actual hell in order for the world to be saved? think about the dread and self-loathing that would come from that
or is it annabeth or grover? where the horrifying realization is the same but now there is a gut reaction from percy to be upset with the person who loses/breaks it. he loves his friends and can’t stay mad at them but now they are in this impossible dilemma to choose who stays behind and it’s killing all of them. the impossibly guilt of the person who breaks/loses it knowing that it’s their fault someone doesn’t get to go home, someone has to stay behind in the underworld
and when does this happen? early on, and we spend the episode watching them all try to figure out the dreadful problem of who gets left behind. looking at each other thinking, I can’t leave them behind, I can’t. they’re my family. but we can’t leave percy’s mom behind either.
or does it happen right before they have the chance to go, and they all think everyone is going to make it and sally is in percy’s grasp only for everything to fall apart and now everyone is looking at each other thinking, who is going to have to be left behind? who has to be the sacrifice?
anyways, I think there is something truly devious about them KNOWING there NEEDS to be four beads and HAVING THEM only to have something happen and the option of everyone going home safe being ripped from their grasps

11 Yr old sister's reaction to Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters - i only got about halfway through with writing down the reactions cus i was so tired lmfao
Opening scene:
Sister: This is underwater!!!
Sister: Percy’s voice changed…
Only three made it to camp…
Sister: What do you mean only three??
“Annabeth come on!”
Sister: Oh, so this little girl was Annabeth’s friend?
Thalia gets thrown back
Sister: oh… oh no…
***
Guy screams
Sister: oh, HAH
Music starts
Sister: OH, I’ve seen this!
***
In comes Clarisse
Sister: Is that?
Me: It’s Clarisse.
Sister: Oh!

Dionysus’s wine turns to water
Sister: What?? - Oh, it became water… COOL!

Clarisse hits Percy with peg
Sister: Ohhh…
Percy pulls peg from under Clarisse
Sister: YAH!

I stopped to explain what happened in the books with Annabeth, Luke, Thalia, Grover and the cyclopses. I could tell my sister thought Annabeth was just being a bully to Tyson, and wanted to make sure she understood what happened in the books.

Sister: What the heck!?

Sister: Oh, that’s dangerous…

Sister: HA! I knew it!!!!

She then started cooing and fawning over Rainbow the Hippocampus <3 she’s so precious omg
She’s totally in love, and now I can’t wait for a Season 2 of the show so she can see them in action more eeeee

Sister: Something was hanging from that…..
Monster shows itself
Sister: How did I know there was a monster up there???

Luke: What are you doing? Don’t stand on my roof.
Sister: HAHA (she was giggling hysterically)

This was about the point where I got too tired to keep up, but she loved Grover in the wedding dress XD she loves Grover in all universes, cried when Tyson got shot, cheered when Tyson saved Percy from Luke, panicked when Luke got eaten by Kronos, got angry when Grover got eaten by Kronos, and she cried (more like sobbed) when Annabeth ‘died’, except, i didnt’ know she was crying till after Annabeth got back up and she was relieved. XD I felt so bad
She also loved Thalia’s outfit at the end too

Percy Jackson Spoilers
So I just watched the Percy Jackson show and it was so amazing. The perfect mix of changing a story from his original source, but keeping true to the source material. Sally Jackson is amazing in the story. I love her even more. And I thought that was impossible already it’s like the whole thing about how monsters might not actually be monsters the whole heroes might not be heroes all all standing under the statue of Perseus that was, and and then she was the one to tell Percy that he was a demigod. I love that good she should have been the ones that in her books in my opinion. I know people have a mixed thing on Gabe, but I’m hoping that maybe lead it on into Siri that they show that he’s actually much worse than what he appears to be. I mean come on Disney you have abusive appearance before we can handle it.
Oh I felt really bad when Grover betrayed Percy you could see hurt in his eyes. And also the way they put the car game in the show early, it’s training for the demigod. I’m hoping that in the series that they actually like put more hidden things that can make the regular world fit for the demigod because the one thing I liked about the movies and all the old crappy bad adaptions of the Percy Jackson movies with how they sub delete put things that we got to use, the whole coffee shop and the credit card machine I like those things so I’m hoping that there’s hidden things in the world that are forming gods maybe imagine of a college for them for those who survive why do the Romans only get that?
And you’re not broken scene chef kiss it was perfect. It was amazing I fell for person and Sally I must admit I cried like it’s different from the books, but it fit perfectly so much more than what the movie did. You could hear the English and Percy‘s voice when she disappeared. in the fight with the Minotaur was definitely better like I must’ve seen him be disgusting, especially when Percy climbed up his back and you can see them move. but him shoving the Minotaur horn in his head was perfect
Mr. D is an asshole. As always the way that he tried to come, proceeded to breaking his grounding it was funny a little bit clingy but funny thank you Chiron for stopping him. in the camp the site of the camp it’s all I could imagine. I must admit the movie did OK but I didn’t expect it to be full wooded area. the series did amazing part on the on the set and it’s wheelchair acceptable. Also, Luke, my boy, my boy I’m gonna cry when you betrayed everyone because there’s so much more bonding scene between him and Percy now much more than it was in the books and it’s actually gonna be very much hurtful when he betrays Percy also was that Ethan or Chris following him around they didn’t say his name and all I’m thinking it’s Chris and all but he kinda looks like an Ethan.
Oh and Clarice I love her actress for her she god I just wanted I just wanted Percy to say why I make this a story. My mom died just this one thing all that I will have Percy snap back at her but I guess this is baby Percy, so he doesn’t have the confidence he has Over he doesn’t want to lie to his friend. He does not want to lie to him anymore and I love that Annabeth there’s my girl you got to stop stalking but don’t worry girl you will get your quest if you see weed brain I can’t wait to see these two kids grow up and see the Percy and Annabeth relationship grow more and more. I don’t care what people say Leah is Annabel so shut up.
Anyway, that’s all my thoughts on this two episodes I seen I can’t wait to see more. I have very high hopes for season two let’s go Percy Jackson fans we won!

Review: 'The Prophecy Comes True', Percy Jackson Episode 8
We made it to the finale!! It takes an impressive level of mediocrity to make watching TV feel like homework. I came here to see how they expect to fit the entire Ares fight, this nonsense with accusing Clarisse of stealing the Master Bolt, Percy’s trip to Olympus, the reunion with his mom, and the Luke betrayal, *and* somehow make a decent send off for what might be the only season of this show… in 30-40 minutes.
**Side note – The music finally fits the episode it’s in and stands out really well across the board.
It’s wonderful seeing the excellent physical acting again that hasn’t really been showcased since the premier, both in the fights and the facial expressions. These kids definitely listened to their fight choreographers. It really feels like Percy’s whaling on Luke in the little flashback and when Percy faces Ares.
On the one hand, I still hate how the characters just. Know Stuff. whenever the plot demands, however I have since forgotten exactly how the Kronos reveal played out in the book and this Ares confrontation is fine.
**Side side note – there’s something really uncanny about the LED sound stage they’re filming on. I don’t know if it’s the shadow-less ambient lighting or the lack of wind or even the waves that are supposed to be crashing on the beach, they cannot convince me these actors are standing on a real beach. They can’t convince me either that they’re standing in a throne room dimly lit and surrounded by braziers when no firelight hits the actors even in dim flashes of orange.
My subtitles say [heroic instrumental music playing] and that about sums up this show having to tell me what’s going on, instead of showing me. Like Percy’s sudden and inexplicable control of a wave, without actually standing in the ocean for his little “sea god power boost”. It looks cool. It’s completely robbed of any tension because audiences (who did not read the book) aren’t waiting for Percy to cleverly gain the upper hand and haven’t been told about Percy’s substantial control over water. But, you know, it looks cool.
The writers read the SparkNotes for this scene, yes indeed, they did.
Ares never curses Percy, and the cops never show up because that wasn’t in the budget, and neither was the rest of this fight scene.
Why Percy thinks his mom is in the Random Beach Cabin from Montauk is beyond me. Ares and Percy fight in California, not New York. Alecto is actually fantastic despite being on screen for less than a minute. Once she’s gone… the plan remains exactly the same for Percy to go to Olympus to appease Zeus so why, exactly, did the show decide they’d already missed the deadline, when it has zero impact on the plot, just to arrive at the same conclusion?
I’ve complained about the emotional acting for the entire show and I take it back for episodes 3 and 8 and these two alone. The trio gets their deserved time discussing the end of the world in Random Beach Cabin and it finally feels like they’re comfortable in their roles and the dialogue they’re given isn’t half bad either.
The Luke flashbacks also feel much more polished than the rest of the series and though we still have to be told, instead of shown, that Annabeth fears spiders, his metaphor lands well.
All the VFX location budget went to Olympus and it’s gorgeous. I haven’t been to Greece so I can’t say if it adheres to any remotely Greek architecture but when they’re not cutting for imaginary commercials, it’s very nice to look at, even if the throne room suffers from the same lack of cringe and whimsy as the rest of the series.
Poseidon’s throne isn’t some chiseled stone, it’s a deep sea fishing chair. Does that sound stupid and ridiculous? Yes. Is that what makes it Percy Jackson and not Clash of the Titans? Also yes. The gods, still, don’t look or act like gods, even when they remove said cringe and whimsy. Zeus is supposed to be, what, 10ft tall in this scene? And he’d never leave his throne to walk to Percy, he’d make Percy awkwardly walk up to him, bow on his knees, and deliver it to his hand. He doesn’t look like he’s itching to smite Percy either, he just looks tired (until Percy starts talking back).
Funny how Zeus needs a shiny new reason to let Percy live because Poseidon decided not to show up for his very first and only scene in the book. A critical scene, where we finally meet the mysterious deadbeat dad who calls him a mistake, and tells him he’s sorry Percy was born.
The writers are trying really hard to emphasize that the Olympians are supposed to be a family and it’s no more apparent than in Percy’s pleading to Zeus, reminding him who’s related to who every chance he gets and… and, what? Is the power of familial love supposed to change Zeus’ mind? He’s Zeus! He cares about his image and his pride and his next pretty mortal conquest and nothing else.
Oh, there’s Poseidon. The writers forgot he’s supposed to be a jerk in this book, tempering Zeus’ wrath with his words, *not* by engaging him in combat, only to “surrender” in a war that happens entirely and inconsequentially off screen. What victory? What has Zeus won? What actually happened after Percy missed the deadline? Did Poseidon lose forces? In what battles? Were there human casualties? Percy failed to prevent a war, why didn’t you show us the war? What was the point of missing the deadline?
We do get one good line from the book, “The sea does not like to be restrained,” and that’s about all that remains from the book version. Percy’s catching of the word “father” takes on new meaning, which is also fine. As [music becomes poignant] and Poseidon is way kinder in this version, notably not apologizing for Percy’s birth and all the misery that will follow his life as a demigod, because he’s a Good Dad unambiguously.
Percy returns to camp to follow up with the Clarisse nonsense, minutes that could have been spent on the Ares fight, but this show hates action scenes in this urban fantasy adventure. I *think* it’s here so Luke has a scapegoat, but no one ever suspected Luke in the first place. They skip straight to the Luke-Percy confrontation (pretty darn accurate to the book for a change). It’s also funny how Percy’s been so, so smart the entire series, being handed information whenever he needs it. I half expected him to realize Luke was the traitor by the powers that be without any evidence- oh, wait, that’s exactly what happened.
The random Clarisse accusation was because they didn’t want to use the pit scorpion instead, gotcha. Luke’s acting is also solid, compared to how he was seven episodes ago.
**Side-side-side note, Anaklusmos is glowing like a golden lightsaber when Backbiter is supposed to be half-celestial bronze, too, and makes Backbiter look that much more fake and plastic-y. It’s supposed to be intimidating the second Percy sees it, because it’s made with mortal steel with intent to kill regular humans.
So they’re okay with poisoning Percy with chimera venom, but not pit scorpion venom? Percy carries that scar through the rest of the books. Luke very nearly kills Percy here and he’s terrified at the lengths Luke went to do so.
They skipped the beading ceremony, which is a shame, and ever describing the other beads from past years. They also didn’t include the letters warning of death by vicious harpy.
“Rey. Rey Skywalker.”
They managed to stick the landing with a sweet camp send-off. These kids actually feel like friends who’ll stay that way for the next five seasons. Music swells and Percy gets a fake-out dream and a meeting with Kronos, robbing audiences of a genuine reunion with his mom and her plans to murder Gabe, and then a setup for season 2.
Hooray. We made it.

When Percy walked into your line of sight, you visibly relaxed ━━ shoulders and back becoming less tense. He wasn’t hurt, thank god. You weren’t as close to him as Luke was, but you it was a close second after your boyfriend. He reminded you of your younger brother who was still at your house in New York as he wasn’t a demigod. People were clapping and cheering around him, some even clapping him on the back. You were standing with Chris, Luke, Annabeth, and some other Hermes kids when the young boy had approached your group. The brunette girl had rushed towards her friend and wrapped her arms around him. Percy had smiled, until it dropped and he looked around him, eyes landing on the daughter of Ares. You had followed his eyesight, yours landing on the girl as well.
When Annabeth pulled away, you stepped forward and smiled at him, pulling him into a tight hug. The last time you gave him one was before he left for the quest. “Guess you aren’t as bad at this whole demigod thing as I thought you were,” you joked, laughing lightly as you pulled away. “Guess not.” He shrugged. “Come on, we have to talk.” Annabeth spoke, grabbing Percy’s arm, and walking towards the Hermes cabin. You followed and Luke was soon on your tail. The brunette was waiting for you, Percy beside her with confusion shown on his face. “What’s going on?” He asked. There was some silence before you spoke up. “We didn’t. Chiron about Clarisse just yet.” “What?” He rebutted, looking at all three of you, “Clarisse stole the master bolt.”
“It’s complicated.” Annabeth answered. “How is it complicated?” Luke moved closer to Percy to peer out of the cabin entrance to make sure no one was coming or trying to listen in. “Everyone was ready to join the war here. To start fighting each other. An accusation against Clarisse . . .” “Without proof,” Annabeth added on. “Exactly,” Luke agreed, “without proof, it would have lit this whole place on fire. But now you’re back.” You nodded, “you’ve stopped the war, which means it’s safe to tell Chiron about this whole thing. Luke mentioned needing to meet him away from the celebration. That will stop any of Clarisse’s “followers” from hearing. Me and Annabeth will stay behind and keep an eye on Clarisse.”
The blonde boy nodded before you while taking a deep breath. “Okay.” “Great,” Luke spoke, patting Annabeth and you on the back, “we’ll meet back here.” You three looked at each other. Annabeth looked back at him, “ready?” Percy nodded again looking at her, then Luke, then lastly, you. You could tell he was nervous but he wasn’t going to give up ━━ he hasn’t yet. You guys walked out of the cabin, Luke and Percy going one way and you and Annabeth going another. No one tried to stop Percy because everyone had moved to where the celebration was taking place. You wrapped your arm around the young girl as you two walked. “Let’s get this show on the road. And we can still have some fun and talk about your quest while we keep an eye on Clarisse and her group of . . . whatever they are.” you spoke, shaking her a little bit. She lightly laughed at that, “yeah I don’t know what possessed them to follow her of all people.”
It was a long time before anything actually happened. You and Annabeth had been keeping watch of Clarisse and her friends, courtesy of the brunette’s amazing plan. You two had gotten some drinks to blend in ━━ you also were really craving some fruit punch ━━ and were hanging out around the campfire, fire works lighting up the sky, covering people’s conversations. They also, unsurprisingly, covered up Percy’s unstable footsteps and his presence until he quickly grabbed you and Annabeth by the backs of your shirts, pulling you away and behind a bush, hiding his frame.
When you finally got to look at him, you noticed a cut on his arm and he was breathing heavily. “What happened?” You rushed out, grabbing his arm to look at the serverity of the injury. “Clarisse and her friends never left.” Annabeth added, looking with confusion at how he could’ve been hurt. “It’s luke.” Percy murmured, eyes filled with sadness and guilt, angry that it had to be this way. “What? I cant hear you. the fire works are too loud.” You replied. “It’s Luke.” he said louder, and that when you and the brunette finally heard him. “. . . What?” The young girl replied, eyes tearing up. You were shocked, dropping his arm and stepping back. “It’s Luke, he’s the thief. He told me. We got into a fight, I ran away. He let me go.” The blonde rushed out, then looked at you.
“I think . . . I think he wanted me to get you, Y/n. He was whispering your name under his breath as I left.” You moved to look at him, having looked at the ground during his rant to try to process this information. “He needs you. He’s turned away from us, away from the Gods. He hates them. Maybe you can help him, help him realize that he needs us. He doesn’t have to leave, to be alone.” You didn’t react, still shocked. You knew he had a dislike, but not hatred. You thought luke would’ve told you about this, but I guess not. Annabeth shook you out of your thoughts. “Y/n!” She hissed. You snapped out of it, shaking your head. “Yeah, I’ll go see him . . . I just ━━ I can’t believe he did that. I mean Luke?” You spoke, uncertainty in your voice. You still didn’t want to believe it. “Me either, but we need him.” The brunette added. You nodded and grabbed both their hands in yours. “I’ll be back. Inpromise.”
While making your way to the area that Luke and Percy were planning to meet Chiron, you thought about what was happening. Luke had once talked about something like this. You knew Luke, you knew he thought this was right and if he thought it was right, he wouldn’t stop. You knew what you had to do.
You found him in the forest, sitting on a rock in the clearing with his head in his hands. You slowly inched closer, moving to sit beside him. Your bare thighs touched his jean-covered ones as you sat down. You two sat there for awhile, basking in each others presence before you said goodbye. “Luke?” You finally called out, your hand resting on his shoulder. He shook his head, not moving to look at you. “Please, Lu, look at me.” You begged, desperation in your voice. Silence. Then a small “I can’t.” You swear your heart broke in that moment. “You always can. Have I ever shied away before?” There was a bit of contemplation before he finally raised his head, eyes full of shame meeting yours. You thanked him with your eyes. “How long? How long have you held this hatred?” “So long, Y/n.” Luke admitted, eyes looking down again. “Why didn’t you tell me? this is a big burden. would it have prevented what’s about to happen?” “Maybe,” he admitted.
When he looked up again, you had sadness in your eyes. “Luke . . .” You spoke, something in your voice giving away what you were about to do. “Please don’t. We can do this together. Please.” His hands cupped your face, pulling you up to stand. “I love you. I can’t do this without you.” You shook your head, looking down. He made you look again.
“I love you.” He pleaded, hands holding your face to keep you looking at him. You sighed, moving your hands to rest on his. “I really wish Inbelieved that, Luke.” A tear cascaded down his face, one of the only real ones in your years of being a couple. You thought you knew everything about him . . . Every little thing. Like how he has a scar on his waist from when you first met, how he scared you and you accidentally cut him, how he loves when you play with his hair even when he denies it, how he lightly snores in his sleep he’s comfortable, how he was yours. “Maybe sometime you did, but not now.” You really believed that. The Luke that would blush when you held his hand loved you. But the Luke now, didn’t. Not as much as he should, not as much as you deserve.
“Please, Y/n, stay. You’re the only thing I have left.” You smiled, your eyes becoming glossy. “I can’t Luke. I don’t deserve this. No one does. But you think what you’re doing is right, so I’m not going to stop you. when it comes to a certain point, we’ll see.” Luke’s hands slipped to around your waist as he sobbed into your shoulder. Your hands wrapped around the back of his head, letting him let go. You shushed him, “it’s okay. It’s okay.”
“It wasn’t supposed to be like this.” He whimpered, his resolve completely cracking, the water rushing out. “I know.” You hummed. When his legs started to give out, you gently led him to the forest floor. This reminded you of your third date when Luke took you on a picnic. You were so scared, but he was so carefree that you let your guard down. His cries slowly subsided as you held him, never letting go. When he was just heavily breathing you brought his head up, forcing his forehead to meet yours. “I never gave up on you. I still haven’t.” You wiped the leftover tears. “I’m not going to stop you, I can’t. But please, make sure this is what you want.”
He choked back a sob, his hands moving to around your head. He wanted to memorize everything about you before he lost his favourite thing, his hope. “You’re too good for me.” He smiled, but it didn’t quite reach his cheeks. “I know.” he laughed in response. “We will always come back to each other, maybe it’s just in another life.” He nodded, moving to rest his head on your chest. “Can you hold me? Before you leave.” You softly smiled at him. “You know I always will Lu.”
He was the one that healed her scars, made her feel beautiful, then ripped them open. Yet, she will be the one that rips his open in return, make him feel ugly, remind him who he was and who he left.

Love triangles—overused and boring trope, right?
Wrong, you just need to get more creative. So buckle up fandom members and tired writers, let’s talk love triangle alternatives.
The Classic Love Triangle, aka the Love V

This is your Bella/Edward/Jacob, your Katniss/Peeta/Gale. It’s been done and overdone. Person A has two people interested in them, and they have to pick which one they like best. Boring!! Let’s spice it up.
The True Love Triangle

To make a REAL love triangle, we need to close the last side. Now all 3 people involved are part of their own classic love triangle. If two people end up together, the third will be double crushed because they just lost both of their potential love interests to each other. Now we’re talking.
This is like Harry/Cedric/Cho, Luna/Neville/Ginny (although not quite since it’s not all at the same time)
The Rivalry Turned Romance

Person A is just minding their own business, uninterested in both person B and person C. Person B and C both like person A though, and somewhere along the way, their rivalry turns into a romance. Think about when Alya and Nino got trapped in the panther cage and fell for each other because they had so much (their mutual crush on Marinette) in common. This is the superior love triangle, tbh.
The Double Love Triangle

We’re back to classic love triangle land, but we’re spicing it up by adding another one!! One of the people in the classic love triangle is in another classic love triangle. Percy has to choose between Annabeth and Rachel, Annabeth has to choose between Percy and Luke (*gags at mention of luke*). This can end in two couples or in one couple and two lonely people.
The True Double Love Triangle

Ooh what’s this? It’s Miraculous Ladybug, of course. Person A (Marinette) likes Person C (Adrien), but she also likes Person B (Luka). Person C (Adrien) likes Person A (Marinette) and D (Kagami). BUT!! If we add in Marigami and Lukadrien, there’s our true love triangles coming out. Of course this chaos is in Miraculous because not a single character in this show this love triangle is straight.
The Bachelor

I honestly can’t think of a good example in any fandoms I’m in for this scenario, but it’s pretty simple: person A has a plethora of potential love interests to choose between.

The Bi Panic/Irene Adler/I am just overall frustrated that these two people are dating or into each other

Person B and C are into each other, maybe already in a relationship, and person A likes both of them (unreciprocated). This is kind of like Irene Adler having an affair with both people in a marriage, except they would have both been into her too. A better example is when my crush in 7th grade started dating the girl that I didn’t know I had a crush on because I still thought I was straight.
The Plus One, aka the Johnlock

Person A and B are in a confirmed and committed relationship (John & Mary Watson), but one of them is not so secretly in love with Person C (Sherlock).
The Awkward Plus One

This is a similar situation to the plus one, but it’s just person C having an unrequited crush on someone in a relationship. For example, Nico having a crush on Percy, who is with Annabeth. Briseis loving Patroclus who is with his soulmate Achilles.
I was going to include the Marinette/Adrien/Ladybug/Chat Noir love square but honestly wtf is that mess and how did those fools manage to have a love triangle between two people?

Hello, Gen! ^-^ Random, but - High Warlock!Nico/Shadowhunter!Percy headcanons??? (the thought process behind that was that I've been thinking about a Teen Wolf/Shadowhunter crossover these days, which brought me to your Teen Wolf/Percy Jackson crossover and thus, to close the circle, I came back to an old fave and got curious! :D)
Okay, okay, okay.
So-
- Hades is the demon parent - obviously. Nico grew up in the Republic of Venice (La Serenissima), with his sister around the 15th century (just because Renaissance 😍). Maria was the daughter of the current Doge that time, but they tended to die suddenly. How tragic.
- But it was really tragic, because Maria was also murdered when he was, leaving Bianca and Nico orphans, in need to flee from Venice. Rome, here they come!
- Unfortunately, it wasn't the best choice, because after awhile, Bianca caught the attention of Cesare Borgia, and she, too, was killed. After that, Nico spent some years in a rage, letting his demonic side out.
- It was not a nice decade. Century? A few centuries at the most.
- After that, he traveled around the world, afloat, trying to find some reason for his existence.
- He found one: his half-sister from his father's side, Hazel, and her lovers, Frank (vampire) and Leo (warlock).
- Right. I forgot to mention his demon mark is his completely black eyes, silver claws and bat wings. (Hazel's is her golden, cat-like eyes and her ridiculously fluffy cat ears.)
- Nico never stepped a foot into Venice over the centuries (not until his honeymoon with his husband leads to there, wanting to introduce him to his family).
- He didn't really want to become a High Warlock, especially not of San Francisco, because that city was too dark, had too many criminals (both mundane and downworlder) and the Shadowhunters were too racists, but. Hazel and her husbands found home there, so what could he do? Leave them alone to fend for themselves? Obviously not.
- So, he started cleaning up a bit around his home, starting with the current High Warlock, and the other underworld leaders who tried to manipulate, hurt, and/or kill his family members.
Hmmm...
- Percy Jackson's father was a Circle member, so he is not in his life, but because his mother is a good little Shadowhunter, they are just under mild suspicion.
- His parabatai is Grover. (You can't convince me otherwise u.u)
- His mother, seeing the Lightwoods not really wanting another kid, adopted Jace. Because I want Jace and Percy to be brothers, dammit!
- They grew up with the Lightwoods, the Chases (as in Annabeth, Grover, and Luke Case) and the Graces, so the New York Institute, despite of the adults' effort to make it unpleasant, was always full of life. Sure, they learned everything, and when they needed to be, they were serious, but- Honestly. Nine kids growing up together? Sounds chaotic ngl.
- Mostly everything happened as in the show with Clary, so hello, eleven teenagers, a child and two immortals (Sounds exhausting...)!
- Okay, so. Because they have more people, more trusted friends, some things happens differently. Especially that they don't let the Clave take over the Institute. (Honestly, Annabeth and Izzy, then Clary and Lydia working together? They could take over the whole world.)
- Jace and Percy are proud pansexuals. (Sally would never allow them to be ashamed for their sexuality u.u) Because of this, it is Jace, who realizes his crush on Alec, and asks him on a date, regardless of them being parabatai. So, a fairly confident pair meet with Magnus, who immediately notices them. I mean, how could he not?!
- As they need all help they could get, Magnus calls for his old friend, Nico, who, redundantly, but decides to help them out. And when he steps out of his portal, how glad he is for his decision! That pretty, green-eyed Shadowhunter is really, really, really yummy looking.
- But there is no time for romance, no matter what the happy threesome... Raphael and Simon... Izzy and Lydia... Annabeth and Clary (or is it Izzy and Clary, Lydia and Annabeth? 🤔 Percy doesn't know. The answer is: it's all the four together) and all of their happiness seems to suggest.
- So, they wait. And flirt with each other. And irritate the others with their UST.
- But then finally, the war ends, everything is peaceful and the future is full of hope, so of course it is time for their first date!
- It goes horribly wrong. Percy is late because he had a Downworlder problem; the restaurant Nico choose has to be evacuated because of faulty pipes; the hamburger place throws them out for being gay; and when they finally find a nice pizzeria that is up to Nico's standards, he is called away for an emergency.
- It is a complete disaster. They are conflicted, think that it was a sign that it is just not meant to be, but Jace, Grover and Annabeth throw him through Magnus' portal before he could completely close himself off of having a warlock boyfriend.
- He lands in Nico's lap.
- They end up married. Well. Not that day.
- That day they decide that who cares about "real" dates, if they could hug, and talk, and spend time together without even going out? They know each other, they obviously like each other, it's not like they need that awkward stage in their relationship where they don't know anything about the other and their expectations.
- But they do end up getting married. And have a ceremony where they connect their lives together literally, so that they would live until the other lives.
- While Percy moves to San Francisco, there's a constant portal between Nico's and Magnus' place, so basically the friend group spend just as much time together as they did before, just now they have Nico, Hazel, Frank and Leo as well.
- Izzy is their surrogate, because she looks the closest to Nico, so when their little daughter is born with Percy's fluffy hair, and dark brown eyes, similar to Nico's, she looks as the perfect combination of the two of them. Their second child is an abandoned Downworlder with fluffy, blue, feather-y hair and curious, yellow eyes.
- They have two dogs and a cat. Obviously. u.u

Titan’s Curse But Make It Time Loop: Nico di Angelo Edition
-Okay so I’m at work and not doing much and who wants to actually edit your shit drafts for your actual WIPs so that they’re less bad? No one, that’s who
-So I had an idea: The Titan’s Curse. Also known as the book where people start to die. It sucks to be a demigod in this book--for the first time in the original series, it really does.
-Not everything is fixed, not everyone is saved, and people start to have to make really tough decisions.
-So we fix it. Not by throwing Percy, or Annabeth, or Thalia, or, hell, even Bianca or Grover into the mix.
-Throwing the marginally more grown-up, more trained, and more knowledgeable demigods into the fire, who’d get everyone alive and safe by the third time ‘round? Nah.
-We’re making Nico fix this.
-Because here’s the thing about Nico di Angelo: Sure, he grows up to become a major badass, the Ghost King, so on and so forth. But not yet.
-For now, Nico is baby, a ten-year-old whose experience with any kind of fighting consists of one (1) Capture The Flag game and who’s still half-reliant on Mythomagic to explain what the fuck is happening.
-He’s also got the worst knowledge makeup possible! He knows he’s a son of Hades, which is bad, he knows to stick monsters with the pointy end of swords but nothing else, he knows that Percy Jackson and Thalia Grace are Very Big Deals (But also doesn’t know why beyond parents), and he’s, at best, vaguely aware that there’s some kind of bad prophecy hanging around.
-Also by the end of the book, he’s just been told his last immediate family who isn’t Hades is dead in one of the worst ways possible, and he--pretty irrationally IMO, but Nico’s a kid who has been through a lot recently, so we’re not holding that against him--blames Percy Jackson.
-Literally, you probably can’t pick an angstier or worse choice to run through the time travel trope. I love it.
-We’re making this kid save Bianca’s life via time loop, which happens due to. . .hmm, we’ll say the Fates did it.
-So, Loop 0 = Canon, only at the end of the day on December 21st, after the conversation with Percy, Nico falls asleep only gods know where only to wake up the day he meets Percy Jackson:
Loop 1:
-Nico doesn’t actually change anything meaningful at first.
-Spends most of it shellshocked and not unconvinced the last week (For him, anyway) wasn’t a horrible nightmare; shellshocked and staring at Percy Jackson, anyway.
-(Percy’s wondering what’s up with the silent kid his sister had talked up as a cheerful chatterbox)
-It’s only when Bianca agrees to join the quest for Artemis that he starts kicking up a fuss; demanding to go, screaming that she can’t leave him even more, not again.
-(Bianca hesitates; briefly, enough to remind Nico that she loves him. But she’s not their mother, and she needs this)
-Bianca still dies. Percy comes back pale and guilty. Nico doesn’t yell at him when he returns--he already knows. He accepts the Hades figurine so that he can throw it into the lake.
-He slinks off back into Cabin Eleven and falls asleep, hoping desperately that he gets a third chance.
Loop 2:
-He does.
Loop 3:
-After a very painful death at the hands of Dr. Thorn, Nico, generally being a straightforward person at this stage of life, takes the obvious path this time around: He tries to tell Bianca--who brushes it off as a dream.
-Annabeth still goes over the cliff when Nico takes the initiative of attaching himself and his sister to Percy Jackson and Thalia Grace at the dance. He tries to tell Percy and Thalia when Bianca still joins the Hunt, promising Nico that whatever he saw, she’ll be extra careful.
-(Bianca’s fearful of what Nico's saying, and thinks that if these sworn sisters can’t keep her safe, who can?)
-Artemis gives Nico a speculative look but agrees when he begs her to protect Bianca at all costs.
-He doesn’t get on the quest. Being a reasonable demigod of questionable parentage, he sneaks out of camp.
-He gets caught, because despite being aware of his awesome new powers, he doesn’t know how to use them, and is still a ten-year-old who can barely hold a sword the right way.
-He gives Percy the puppy dog eyes and shows off said awesome new powers. Percy forces him back.
-Nico follows him.
-Repeat until Percy dies saving Nico from the Nemean Lion in Washington, DC.
-Nico can’t find it in himself to be terribly sad--especially when he doesn’t make it much longer.
Loop 4:
-He’s really stuck like this, huh?
-Oh, Di Immortales.
-(Before Percy gets his chest ripped to shreds by a lion and Nico meets skeleton cats, he learned how to hold a sword properly and curse fluently in Greek. Percy probably only meant to teach him one of those things)
-In unrelated news: Having a big crush on a guy who thinks he’s only known you for a couple hours? Terrible.
-Trying to hate the guy who let your sister die when he’s that stupid and nice? Even worse.
-That stupid lion.
Loop 5, 6, 7, 8, 9:
-Nico repeats: That stupid lion.
-Somewhere in Loop 7 he starts to steal supplies out of the camp store when he follows Percy following the quest.
-They forcefeed the lion enough trail mix and frozen ice cream in Loop 9 that they don’t die this time.
-At least until someone called the General shows up and Nico’s dead before he can raise his sword.
Loop 10:
-Nico wakes up in his and Bianca’s room in Westover and starts crying. Bianca tells the headmaster they’re both sick and Nico lets her hold him all day.
-They fall asleep and Nico swears he won’t let her die again.
Loop 11, 12, 13:
-He wakes up and he still can’t get out of bed without feeling that blade cutting between his ribs, burning like it’s on fire.
-Gods, he’s so sorry, Bianca. Dispiace tanto.
Loop 14:
-He can get up without feeling like he’s about to die again. Bianca fusses but assumes it was just a bad dream.
-Nico is caught stealing and can’t follow Percy until it’s too late.
-Everyone assumes this means he’s a son of Hermes, however, and Nico can’t correct them without opening his mouth and letting the sobbing laughter out.
-Figuring he’s about to get another chance next round anyway, he takes Travis and Connor Stoll up on their offer to learn a thing or two so that he doesn’t get Cabin Eleven slapped with kitchen duty from now until Doomsday.
-He likes the Stolls. He spent most of the time, pre-looping, actively avoiding everyone at camp as he waited for Bianca and Percy to come back, but they’re not that bad.
-Percy comes back with the figurine and no sister and Nico remembers why he’s stuck.
Loop 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23:
-After Loop 12 and being killed in Washington DC again, Nico realizes: He needs to learn how to fight.
-Unless he gets killed early or refuses to leave Westover, the loop resets after seven days. So, he has seven days to train each time.
-He gets to camp, finds the arena, and meets Clarisse La Rue. He demands she teach him how to kill monsters.
-She laughs, and tells him that attitude in his size will make monsters easy to kill, they’ll laugh so hard.
-Clarisse teaches him how to swing a sword each time--but only after mocking his unamused face.
-Somehow, Percy coming back with news of Bianca’s death only hurts more each time.
Loop 24:
-Nico wakes up before Bianca this time. He looks over at her bed and knows. He’s got to try this time.
-It’s disturbingly easy making friends with Percy Jackson after the last loops.
-Bessie’s new. Cute, but new.
-Nico wonders just how much he’s missed in the past--he thinks of Annabeth Chase, and hopes she hasn’t been dying each time.
-Percy doesn’t even argue when Nico shows up in the stables with a bag slung over his shoulder, and the sword he’s been stealing out of the shed strapped to his hip.
-Nico suggests the ice cream--again--to Percy in DC before
-Nico might be getting the hang of this.
Loop 25:
-Nico is not getting the hang of this.
-Zoë Nightshade’s refusal to accept Percy and Nico on the quest--violating a prophecy, and gods, Nico’s curious if that prophecy ever mentioned this--has so far gotten them attacked and killed by spartoi once.
-And again. As Nico bleeds out on the floor, he watches a panicked blond man--a demigod--plead for mercy.
-Isn’t he on the other side?
Loop 26:
-His name is Luke Castellan and he apparently wants the gods dead.
-Nico can relate at this point.
-The General is Atlas, and Nico knows enough about Greek mythology, real and wrong, at this point to know that is bad.
Loop 27:
-Twenty-six tries, but they finally make it out of DC. Threatening the questers with Atlas killing them all is more than enough.
-For the first time, Nico doesn’t know what happens next. He glues himself to Bianca’s side and glares at anything suspicious.
-With help that Percy refuses to name, even when Nico tries his hardest, they go to New Mexico.
-There’s a boar and it’s so close, they make it to what the others are calling “the junkyard of the gods”.
-Nico sees the Hades figurine on the ground.
-Bianca grins in delight and picks it up, calling for him.
-He can’t help it.
-Nico starts screaming.
Loop 28:
-His sister’s murderer was never Percy Jackson.
-His sister’s murderer was a force of mechanics that makes Nico fully understand, for the first time, what the gods are, beyond stats on a card.
-Talos.
-Nico is going to destroy him.
Loop 29:
-She dies.
Loop 30:
-Again.
Loop 31:
-Again.
-Loop 32, 33, 34, 3536373839FortyFo r t y O n  e--:
-Again. Again. Again. Again again againagainagainagainAGAIN--
Loop 42:
-Nico gets out of bed. He finds Percy Jackson at the dance, hugs him, and tells him he’s sorry.
-Nico walks outside and waits for Dr. Thorn in the snow. He can feel the shadows curling at the edge of the wood like a sixth sense, now. Waiting for him to summon the restless dead out of them.
-So many attempts to save his sister, ranging from sacrificing himself to sacrificing Percy--not that Percy needs the push, Nico has found--to any and all members of the quest.
-She dies. Always, always dies. Whatever Nico does, that junkyard is full of the death of Bianca di Angelo.
-He tried avoiding it. Once. Loop 33. Nico threw such a fit he’s surprised he wasn’t sent back to Camp Half-Blood by the Hunters, but it kept them out of the junkyard.
-He tries not to remember how little was left of his sister’s body by the monsters that time.
-Son of Hades. After all this time, Nico’s beginning to wonder if this is what it means. Death and death and death.
-Dr. Thorn walks outside, and Nico can feel a ghoulish grin crossing his face that has no place on a ten-year-old.
-One of them is going to die, this loop. And Nico will not go to New Mexico.
Loop 43:
-Nico wonders if there was a past life of his he needs to remember. Who could he have made this angry?
-He lies to Bianca and they stay in Westover again this time. Better than death, anyway.
Loop 44:
-Nico tries a different tack this time. A more roundabout way of things.
-He takes Bianca and throws the two of them in the way of the battle with the manticore.
-After all this time, he still doesn’t know much about Annabeth Chase. She gets kidnapped and returned safely to Percy every time, to the best of his knowledge.
-Nico dies holding up the sky, but at least Bianca lives, under the protection of Artemis.
Loop 45:
-Nico looks in the mirror and studies the new grey streak with fascination. And, maybe, some hope.
-Things can change.
Loop 46, 47, 48, 49, 50:
-Nico gets kidnapped a few times. Once, he’s killed in a rage by a Titan with horns, but it’s quick. Mostly, he holds up the sky to get Artemis out.
-She looks at him strangely each time and Nico wonders if she can see what he’s done.
Loop 51:
-They figure out he’s a son of Hades. They offer him Olympus. Olympus and Bessie--the Ophiotaurus, rather.
-Nico says no.
Loop 52:
-Nico says yes.
Loop 53:
-Being on the verge of overthrowing the gods and keeping everyone he’s grown to care for--in the case of several Hunters, against his will; in Percy Jackson’s case, Nico loves him as much as he hates him at this point--doesn’t do much, apparently.
-Nico stays in Westover again. He resists the urge to tell Bianca that would-be destroyers of Olympus don’t need to brush their hair, whatever she says.
Loop 54:
-Nico goes over the edge of the cliff again, but with Percy Jackson.
-This isn’t the first time; in Loop 46, Percy had taken the sky for both the sake of Artemis and Nico until it killed him.
-What’s different, is Nico’s in the middle of what’s become the usual panic attack when he’s about to die for the hundredth time, and his powers react.
-Percy holds him close and calls him cousin. Tells him he’ll never leave Nico.
-You have no idea, Nico whispers. You can’t leave me.
-You think I want to? Percy whispers back. You’re not alone, Nico.
-Nico’s sobbing sounds like laughter.
Loop 55:
-Nico tells Percy the truth for the third time. This is the first time he hasn’t told Bianca first.
-They’ve just found the Erymanthian Boar, Thalia’s told Nico his goth needs work--whatever that means--and Nico’s bracing himself for the junkyard again.
-Getting kidnapped by the Titans really gets old after a while.
-He still has the grey streak, and no number of excuses will fully soothe his sister, but the Hunt’s a good distraction from it.
-Nico doesn’t blame Bianca anymore for it. He thinks.
-Nearly a year into this loop and Nico’s finding it hard to blame anyone for much of anything, anymore. Especially when he sees what she’s faced. Again. And again.
-For now, this time, Percy Jackson is staring at Nico with wide eyes at what Nico’s told him--through these loops, Nico’s starting to wonder if he now knows more about Percy than Percy’s own best friends--and says he believes him.
-Once, Nico would’ve exploded from joy. Now, he just sighs and nods.
-Percy tells him how to condense the conversation for the next loop. He advises Nico to research Talos, “like Annabeth would.”
-He advises Nico to warn Percy’s next loop self about Annabeth’s kidnapping. Nico wonders if he’s gone insane that he’s considering it.
-Bianca dies.
Loop 56:
-Nico makes the executive decision this time to try and befriend Annabeth Chase. As such, he takes Percy’s advice.
Loop 57:
-It takes him two tries to befriend Annabeth Chase and learn about Talos.
Loop 58:
-Three times.
-But the nail. The nail in the ankle of Talos.
Loop 59:
-He hangs back at camp again this time and meets Charles Beckendorf, head of Cabin Nine, and son of Hephaestus.
-Nico figures that short of finding the god himself and committing temporary suicide--not that it hasn’t crossed Nico’s mind--his son will have to do.
-(He’s tried his hand at summoning ghosts, but Daedalus refuses to show, for some reason)
-Beckendorf frowns and tells Nico he would have to see Talos himself.
-Nico hadn’t realized just how much cursing he had picked up off of Percy and Thalia until that moment.
Loop 60:
-Nico knows what the prophecy says. One shall be lost in the land without rain.
-He knows it’s why he’s been failing so much.
-The trouble is, he no longer cares.
Loop 61:
-It took him a try, but he gets Beckendorf on the quest, prepared to defeat the Talos prototype.
Loop 62:
-Strike that, two tries.
-Nico really hates the Nemean Lion.
Loop 63, 64:
-Nico has solved half a problem: How to defeat Talos without putting someone inside the robot.
-The other half of the problem is now that they are all electrocuted by a dying automaton for their efforts.
Loop 65:
-Beckendorf’s crush--girlfriend? crush, they’re both insisting--Silena Beauregard comes along this time. Nico won’t complain over the extra manpower, even if he’s positive that eight campers and Hunters are patent overkill for one quest.
-Silena pulls Bianca out of the wreckage. Nico’s heart stops.
-Silena’s crying when she mentions that if they had been a bit earlier, she could have been revived.
-Nico wonders if Thalia’s going to stab him as he starts whooping. And takes notes about where Talos falls.
Loop 66:
-Nico swears, if Percy Jackson tries to sacrifice himself for Annabeth Chase one more time--
Loop 67:
-Bianca.
-I found you, he sobs. I found you.
-Gods damn the Hoover Dam.
Loop 68:
-And again.
-Despite having the distinct inkling at this point that he doesn’t much like like girls, Nico could kiss Silena Beauregard and Thalia Grace when they manage to revive his sister each time.
-She’s shaky and leaning on him and was dead, he could see her soul floating away--
-But she’s there.
-Nico refuses to let his sister out of the sight at the Hoover Dam and Percy befriends the Naiads this time.
-At least, until the Titans--who Nico made the very big mistake of taunting at DC--sends monsters he can’t control.
Loop 69, 70, 71, 72, 73:
-They keep dying in various combinations at the Hoover Dam now that Nico’s figured out how to save Bianca.
-At least, until he gets separated from Percy in Loop 73 and he meets a redheaded girl with a penchant for calling Nico pint-size.
-Athena dislikes Percy, Nico, Bianca, and Thalia in equal measure. Having learned of the Great Prophecy in Loop 16 and Percy’s mooning over Annabeth in. . .well, every loop, Nico can’t quite blame her.
Loop 74:
-Her name is Rachel Elizabeth Dare and Nico likes her. She takes none of their shit and if it weren’t for the fact that they already have eight people on the quest, he’d want to take her along.
-Bianca gets in a fight with the Old Man of the Sea. Thalia electrocutes him when he throws Bianca in the bay.
Loop 75:
-Nico wakes up in Westover with the distinct feeling that he was drowned on dry land.
-He stays in bed shivering, that day.
Loop 76:
-Atlas is the father of Zoë Nightshade. Nico learned this around Loop 50. He had realized around five loops ago that this probably meant she was going to die “by a parent’s hand.”
-He hadn’t realized that it was going to hurt to watch.
Loop 77, 78, 79, 80, 81:
-Now that he’s figured things out to about San Francisco, it seems the world is out to get him. The number of fights or mistakes that he either makes himself or has to head off are ridiculous.
Loop 82:
-Nico is so very tired. And wishes he felt ten years old again.
Loop 83:
-If Thalia gets in one more fight with Nereus, Nico's going to walk into the sea.
Loop 84:
-He wanders off, in this one. Grover had been killed in Hoover Dam, so Nico’s waiting for the reset at this point.
-In the meantime, Nico figures there are worse things to do than enjoy a good afternoon in San Francisco. He even meets a boy in a purple shirt.
-His name is Jason and he has hair like the sun.
-If he ever fixes this, Nico wants to find him.
Loop 85:
-Nico’s not fast enough in the junkyard.
-In San Francisco, he tries to find the ugliest, biggest trouble he can find.
-He finds a pair of teenagers in armor who yell Latin at him instead.
Loop 86:
-There’s a dragon that will attack them in the Garden of the Hesperides if they make it angry enough and Nico is so tired.
Loop 87:
- Zoë Nightshade is dead. They’ve won.
-Funny definition of “win”, considering they’ve all almost died this loop about a dozen times each, and Nico can’t explain why he’s crying on the body of a Hunter he only met a week ago, in their eyes.
-She hates him, some loops. More loops, she looks at him with ghosts of old grief in her eyes and hands him a knife.
-The gods execute Bessie, and then, Nico watches as his father turns to him and Bianca with sorrowful eyes.
-Nico should’ve figured, after almost ninety loops.
Loop 88:
-Luke offers one of them the entrails of Bessie again.
-Nico takes them.
Loop 89:
-For all the good it does. Nico wakes up as he does every time now: Powerless, in bed, and with only a grey streak to show for his efforts.
Loop 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98:
-Nico doesn’t know how to save Zoë Nightshade. Bianca, he could trick and fight his way into it. Beckendorf and Silena and Percy and a loophole in lost could save his sister.
-Her, she just. . .dies. Sometimes in DC, sometimes in San Francisco, sometimes on the hills of Mt. Tamalpais. Always at the hands of Atlas.
-Always, being murdered by her father.
-It’s not as gutting as watching his sister die, but it aches more in his chest, somehow.
Loop 99:
-He sticks close to Zoë this time. Same as he’s done with Percy, Annabeth, his sister, Thalia, and Grover, time and time again. But not her, Nico is realizing. Not the clinging he’s achieving now.
-Hoping for. . .something.
-He knows better than to tell the immortal Lieutenant of Artemis the whole truth. The loneliness is enough.
-She’s less frosty to him from the start than to, say, Grover or Percy, after Annabeth goes over the cliff again. When he shows up in DC, she’s much less angry than he’s seen her.
-Along the way to New Mexico and then San Francisco, he listens. He’s grown better at it, this far in. When the others are asleep, when Bianca is being fussed over after Talos, when everyone but them is asleep by the fire, he listens.
-And she tells him about her sisters. About her father, when the world was young and Atlas had looked on every daughter of his with pride. She tells him, pride glistening in her eyes, of the battles she has seen, the hunts she has overseen at the command of a goddess, the monsters she has killed, and the epithets she has been given.
-He doesn’t ask anything of her. Not until they’re in the house of Annabeth’s father, drinking lemonade the night before the battle, and Nico knows she is about to die again.
-What do you want, he asks. You’ve done everything. What’s left?
-She stopped, ice seems to creep over her again, and Nico wondered if he’d hit some sore spot.
-He’s opened his mouth to make his apologies when she answers, so quiet and quick he thinks he’s imagined it.
-To be remembered. When my lady has taken another lieutenant, as she must, and I have gone to where all gods go when they die, I wish for my memory to remain. And. . .
-Nico waits, and ignores the sudden, terrifying thought that he no longer knows what he wants.
-I wish to see the stars again. I was born a nymph of the sunset; starlight is precious to me. I want to see it again.
-Nico dies to preserve the memory of Zoë Nightshade.
100:
-Nico di Angelo wakes up in Westover Hall. He hopes for the last time.
-He does everything right: Annabeth goes over the cliff, his sister joins the Hunt, Percy is soon his friend, and he convinces Silena and Beckendorf to join the quest.
-The Nemean Lion never stands a chance, and Nico is glad to be rid of it.
-His sister lives.
-Nico watches Percy watch Rachel Elizabeth Dare go, looking like he’s just taken a frying pan to the face, and fights the urge to snicker.
-Thalia doesn’t start a fight with Nereus, but Percy certainly does. Nico could’ve sworn he saw the boy with sun-hair again, watching with curiosity.
- Zoë Nightshade dies in the arms of Artemis and is made into the stars she loves so dearly. Nico promises her soul that he will remember.
-For, he has found, the dead have a tendency of remembering things they shouldn’t.
-Annabeth and Percy now have grey streaks to match Nico’s, and Nico can’t wait to spend the rest of his life trying to explain that.
-It’s closer than he would like, but much less close than other lives with Olympus. The Ophiotaurus is alive and safe, and they are all alive.
-As Nico walks out of the council, he looks off to the side. By the fire is the familiar girl with red eyes--the Lady Hestia, looking much closer to Nico’s age than that of the Olympian she is.
-Besides her are three old ladies. Nico’s heard about them from Percy, in Loops 26, 53, 61, and 62.
-One lady holds a ball of string that is the color of a warm umber. The other is knitting what looked suspicious like socks. The last. . .
-Scissors, in one hand. Just as expected. Nico swallowed.

things i would’ve loved to see in hoo:
- trans dude frank
- more homoerotic interactions between reyna and annabeth (think about it - both children of the war goddesses of their respective pantheons, their wits the sharpest of their camps; then cj is attacked by possesed leo and reyna thinks annabeth, whom she trusted and came to care for in those few moments they shared, betrayed her)
- jason “raised by wolves” grace - dude straight up lived with lupa’s pack for YEARS and got raised by them during his formative years (when going on how normal human memories, he wouldn’t have even remembered his mother - his earliest memories would have been of lupa), and yet we never see him tearing at a steak with his face? he’s never tapping his foot, wanting to scratch an itch with it? this would’ve been perfectly in line with riordan’s humor, he missed an opportunity
- rachel elizabeth dare and grover playing an actual role in the plot, not just being seen in that one scene in hoh. the different povs in chapers should’ve been played around with more - give us a pov of someone from the camps, or rachel/grover - the seven were only one part of the many moving elements in the plot and the dream sequences hardly made up for it
- romance being either tied directly into the plot like in pjo or eliminated completely; not seen as a plot device (eg. reyna considering getting involved with octavian when confronted with the possibility of him becoming praetor)
- a villain who’s more than literally just “ehehe i am earth. am bad. want to kill you. no i don’t have a particular reason”. pjo had luke which was so good because he spent the first book establishing how nice he is, how he’s an older brother to everyone at camp, how eager he’s to show you the ropes and young me knew he was going to turn but i had such a hard time believing it. the rest of the books don’t make things any easier because luke is plotting this horrible thing, but is it really horrible? until today people are fighting about whether he was right or not. and they have to stop him but he used to be their friend. they used to care about each other so much and that care doesn’t just go away when he betrays them. so they’re faced with one impossible choice and they know what they have to do but can they? anyways hoo wishes it was half as complex as pjo
- the leo/sammy doppleganger situation should have been expanded upon more beyond the exuse for the leo/hazel/frank love triangle. no i don’t know how. but it just makes it look like rick put it in there for funsies and never did anything with it. my mind keeps going back to a time travel plot but i know this is the riordanverse and We Don’t Do That Here
- octavian being more than “i created this character so fans could have someone to hate”
- the author not feeling so needed to write a blockbuster epic story like the avengers or whatever was in cinemas at that time. it was supposed to be a continuation of pjo, but instead of expanding upon the characters we had met in it, we barely saw any of them, they were forgotten, only the few main were placed in the spotlight, along with a bunch of new characters we’d never seen before. the focus was on the seven and a few other characters
- “the gods decided to not interact with mortals” was a stupid decision, especially considering the ending of tlo. percy asked the gods to be more present in their children’s lives, they, albeit reluctantly, accepted. and the next time we see them they remove themselves from their lives. the central conflict of the previous series had arised because nobody knew of the gods, what they were up to. there was no lexicon of rules, they just had to wait; and they grew tired of it. the gods should have been visiting them, awkwardly integrating themselves in their lives, not the exact opposite. not setting up for another demigod uprising
- i know this is just wishful thinking but. there should’ve been more of the riordanverse. yes i know there were already a bajilion other plot lines and we had the romans introduced but. i would’ve been fine with even just a little nod. or a character from a different pantheon appearing. this is all in the same universe as the huge chaos snake and the other, world snake and i just think it should’ve been expanded upon more
- frank’s firewood should have had. a role. you set up your character to be “the most powerful” of the seven, all extremely powerful protagonists, and then decide to ignore him for the last book and a half?
- by far one of the things that irritated me the most was how everyone survived. this was supposed to be a sequel series to a children’s series that had one of the main characters stab himself after realizing that this was the right thing to do. a daughter of the goddess of beauty got acid spit in her face. tlo is my favourite of the pjo books because it’s the climax, and it lays it down as it is - not as some heroic fight scene of good vs. evil, but people, being people. making choices for the ones they love and making mistakes because they don’t know what’s right. in boo, there’s an attempt at this “great last battle”, but if anything, this was undermined by the fact that nobody died. (i did like how leo coming back was framed, even if i’m not a terrible fan of caleo, nico feeling leo’s spirit alive, leo having a “surprise” chapter at the end.. goosebumps man) (though i suppose jason could’ve died right there and there. “to storm or fire” and everything)
- more hazel/nico getting confused by modern technology - i just think it would’ve been funny to see hazel hear about some event that happened between the 30s and present day and be like “you said what-” it’s good humor and also characterbuilding
- however, if we’re so horribly set on having romantic relationships, valdangelo is right there. nico can’t face his queerness. leo understands machines better than people. they both carry an immense sadness within, but it made them totally different people. and the dynamic? everything you could’ve wanted

“Hi i saw that you were gonna start writing stories and we're looking for ideas and things,, maybe a Luke x f!reader oneshot around the time of The Lightning Thief. I think it would be cool if the day before he snapped and revealed himself as the thief,, he confessed his feelings to someone or took an s/o on a special date as a type of "goodbye" without saying anything. There's not many luke fics and his TLT story is so fun to explore :3″

Genre: Angst basically. Some fluff, but angst.

A.N: Literally listened to The Lightning Thief musical while writing this.This was super fun to write ngl, I also may have gotten carried away with the back story and such but meh :3. I also took a few freedoms and made you Poseidon’s daughter, hope you don’t mind it too much, and I changed the ending of the book a bit because I can’t remember exactly how it ended, just the basics, and I can’t find my book to fact check myself. Hope it doesn't bother you too much and that you like it.<3
Y/N sat at her cabin table, her newly found brother had just come back from a stupid quest he had to go on because her uncle was throwing a fit (as he usually does) about someone stealing his lightning bolt, and he immediately blamed it on her family. She knew all about the prophecy and the whole half-blood child of the big three turning sixteen and having the power to either save or destroy the world. Thing was she had already turned sixteen (if you’re not sixteen yet, just go along with it please) and nothing special really happened, so when Percy showed up at camp and killed a minotaur on the first day, Her and Chiron had been a bit weary of the new half-blood.
When Percy was claimed by Poseidon you’d think she’d be happy that she had found family, after losing her mother at five and never seeing her father, but she wasn’t, She was more worried than anything. Worried that she would lose the family she had just found. And when Percy left to go on the quest, Y/N felt like she couldn’t breath. She didn’t know him very well, but Percy was a good kid, she could just feel it, and she wanted to get to know him more. The thought that he may not come back from this quest in one piece terrified her. And what made it even worse was that he brought Annabeth with him. Annabeth was like Y/N’s little sister.
Ever since the day she found the seven year old blond they had been through alot together. She had run away from camp after getting into an argument with Chiron, she soon learned that it was a big mistake, then ran into the little girl somewhere in Pennsylvania. She then met Luke and Thalia, and then ran into Grover. The five had been through alot, especially when they lost Thalia, she was yet another pice of family she lost. She hadn’t walked into the camp with the other three, she just stayed and watched as Thaila’s body formed into a tall standing pine tree. She cursed Zues for letting this happen to his own daughter.
As the years went by she took care of the spunky little blond, and Luke liked to help every now and then. Feelings grew for the blond boy, no doubt about it, but she also remembered how Annabeth would squeal to her and rant about her little crush on Luke.
When they came back, all three of them, in one pices to say she was relieved, was an understatement. There had been a lot of events that happened after they were back, her favourite being the look on Clariese’s face when she heard that her father had stolen the bolt. The whole cabin was angry and Percy, and the fact that he had made their father look like a fool. But what she really cherished was right now. She was able to catch up with her brother and everything. Talk about his life, get to know him and how much of a good kid he really was. They talked about the prophecy and how he was confused about being betrayed by a friend and failing to save what matters the most.
“People who know nothing about prophecies may say something like ‘oh well you know the prophecy is crazy and could be wrong in some way,’ but, I know that isn’t the case. So I’d say, that the prophecy isn’t done with you yet.” She shrugged.
“Oh, how great.” he rolled his eyes.
“Hey, Y/N” She heard the smooth deep familiar voice and looked up to meet bright blue eyes. “Right before curfew… could you uh,” he scratched the back of his neck. “Just, meet me by the lake.” he quickly stated then walked off. She sat very confused, she had never seen Luke like that before. He was usually a cocky, joking fellow. Seeing him shy and flustered,and maybe even worried, had concerned her.
When the sun had fallen, and curfew was about twenty minutes away, she snuck out of her cabin and went down to the lake. “Luke?” she called out not seeing him anywhere.
“Y/N.” she then heard from behind her. Turning around she saw a familiar silhouette, She couldn't see his face due to the lack of light but she knew it was him.
“Hey, what’s up?” She walked towards him.
“I-” He looked around and took her by the arm to drag her further away from the cabins so that they could be somewhere where he knew they were truly alone. “I have something to tell you.” He sounded sorrowful and serious. This made Y/N’s heart race faster in worry for the boy in front of her.
“What is it Luke?” She moved her hand to his cheek so he could look at her. He just stared into her eyes for about a minute. He was dazzled by her (e/c) eyes, that she had gotten from her mum and her dark hair that she got from her father. His hands moved to her waist before he viciously pulled her close to him, foreheads touching. Her heart sped up even more, this time from the closeness of the two rather than worry. “Luke?” she questioned.
“I’m so sorry.” He squeezed his eyes shut in pain. “I’m so… so sorry Y/N.” He wrapped his arms further around her waist, pulling her into a hug. She took in his scent as he did hers.
“Luke, I don’t understand, why… why are you sorry?” She pulled away to look into his eyes again.
“Y/N, I… I like you… I like you so much I think I love you. And it hurts me, ever since we lost Thalia, you were there, you were alway there. And I don’t know why I couldn’t be satisfied with just you and Annabeth, but I couldn’t. I’m sorry. I was just so pissed, I needed to get it all out. But in the end, I want you to know that it was you, It was always you.” And that's when he did it. He made her heart completely stop, He leaned in and kissed her. His kiss soft and gentle, the kiss was passionate. She melted into it, wanting it to last forever but alas he pulled away. “I just hope you will forgive me at some point.”
“Luke, what’s going on? What do you mean forgive you?” She was seriously done with this mysterious way he was talking.
“I can’t tell you, not yet. Just, stay with me, for the night. Tonight only, sleep beside me, let me hold you one last time.” He pleaded.
“Luke, where are we gonna sleep, we can’t go to your cabin, because… well,” She thought of the cramped cabin 11 and how embarrassing it might be to wake up in the morning with all those kids around her laughing, or how maybe the twins would try playing a prank of them in their sleep. “Percy’s asleep in my cabin, and we can’t stay out here… the harpies.” She shuddered at the thought of being attacked by those bird ladies.
“Y/N, i’ve seen Percy sleep, there's no way he's gonna wake up before us. I’ll be sure to leave before he even knows I’m there.” He rested his forehead on hers.
She thought for a while. “Alright fine.” She smiled and they walked back to the cabin.
That night she had the best sleep she had ever had. Luke’s warmth,and his scent. It relaxed her in a way that she didn’t know was possible. But he held true to his word of getting out before Percy knew he was there. In fact, she had to sit there for a while trying to be sure it was real and not just a dream, because when she woke up, he wasn’t there. Her heart dropped. It was too vivid, too detailed, too… too real, to be a dream. She got out of bed, and got dressed before hearing a snore. She grabbed her pillow and threw it at the drooling boy, still asleep in his bed.
“Wake up ragworm. You’re gonna miss breakfast.” She said, waiting till he got out of bed and started getting changed to leave and go to breakfast.
They sat at the table eating their food when Mr. D. had stood up to tell everyone to decide whether they were staying for the year or leaving before noon. “What are you gonna do?” Percy looked at his sister.
“I'm staying here.” She shrugged as if not going home was something she was used to.
“You’re not going back to your family?” He sounded confused. But he too was confused if he wanted to go back and see his mum or if he wanted to stay with his new found family. He was kinda hoping she was gonna go so that it would make it easier on him.
“Have no family to go home to, Perc. This right here,” she motioned to all the other kids at their respective tables, “this is the closest thing I have to family.”
As the day had progressed the thought of what happened with Luke last night being real faded as Luke had avoided her all day. And as she was walking around Camp, enjoying her last day with some of her friends she saw some wood nymphs carrying a body wearing blue jeans and a bright orange camp shirt. “Percy.” she gasped as she saw the black head of hair. They carried him to the infirmary where he was tended to and given some nectar to recover.
Once he woke up he started ranting off nonsense. “Luke, it’s Luke we- we need to look for him.” he tried to get up but Chiron stopped him.
“What do you mean it’s Luke, Perc?” She was worried by the tone of her brother's words.
“The… the friend who was supposed to betray me… it’s Luke. He’s the lightning thief” At Percy’s words Y/N’s head went fuzzy, her stomach turned. “He’s serving Kronos, hes trying to bring him back.” she didn’t want to believe what she was hearing, “ Oh… and Y/N… he said that if I happened to survive, to tell you… he meant what he said last night, and that he is really sorry.” Percy said that as if it was irrelevant.
“No, you're lying. Luke, he wouldn… He isn’t... “ She shook her head trying to deny it but then something came back to her.
“I’m sorry. I was just so pissed, I needed to get it all out.” She ran out of the infirmary, tears stinging her eyes and her head steaming. She ran into the cabin, and without thinking rationally started to throw things around out of… well, she wasn’t really sure what she was feeling, she just needed to get it out.
Once she was done throwing things around, and the cabin was totally trashed, she knew exactly what she was feeling. She ran to the lake, feeling angry and sad. She took her shoes off and sat at the edge with her feet in the water. Tears running down her face.
“I just hope you will forgive me at some point.” Luke’s words rang out in her head. “I don’t think I ever can.” She thought. It wasn’t because of the fact that he had betrayed her friends, her family, betrayed her. It was more the fact that Luke was so selfish, so so stupidly selfish that he had to dump that onto her. He had to tell her how he felt and then go and break her like that. Because of that, she hated him, but at the same time, deep in her heart she still loved him, something small was telling her that this wasn’t actually Luke, that he was really the Luke that she loved and that something was controlling him.
She looked up at the sky, the clear blue sky. To anyone else, on any other day, it would have been a beautiful day. But no matter how much the sun shined, all she could see was grey. “Why? Why can’t I be happy? Why do you insist on torturing me constantly. What did I do to make you decide I don’t deserve happiness? Was it because I was born? It’s not my fault that my father can’t keep a stupid promise. It’s not my fault i’m alive. I never asked for this. So why do you do this to me? You petty little brat! I hate you with every bone in my body.” She screamed at her uncle. Zeus wasn’t listening to what his pathetic niece was saying, but someone was.
His chest felt heavy. Listening to what the beautiful broken girl was saying. He had wanted to hold her like he should have for every heart breaking moment of her sixteen years. “I’m sorry i couldn’t save you from that. But I gave you Percy. You have each other now. Take care of each other like I can’t.” Poseidon sighed.

AN: i didn’t really like the ending to this one but i wrote something finally! also i just love modern percabeth can’t you tell?

“Uh… five?” Annabeth throws her pencil down in frustration, the sound echoing around the almost silent library. Across from her, Rachel bites her lip to keep from laughing and the look Annabeth sends her has the girl pulling Annabeth’s paper to her side of the table. 
“Ah, I see what you did. That’s a six A, not a nine.” Annabeth glares at the red ink now covering her paper and curses her dyslexia for making college so much more difficult than it should be. Annabeth had handled high school just fine, moving across the country a few times, but other than that, no issues. But freshman year of college was kicking her ass. 
“How am I supposed to pass this class if I can’t even read the problem correctly, to begin with?” Annabeth complains. The heads of her friends at the tables around her turned to her, offering sympathetic glances saying they understood how awful their dyslexia could be. 
“Maybe you can just light Professor Brunner’s classroom on fire,” Leo supplies from where he sits next to Calypso doing physics homework. His girlfriend slaps the back of his head.
“That’s arson, Leo,” she reminds him. 
“So what?”
“So it’s illegal, genius.” The voice of her best friend has Annabeth sitting straighter and Percy drops into the seat next to her, looking perfect as ever with his messy black hair and green eyes. “Last I checked you can’t vandalize a classroom.”
“How would you know Jackson?” Annabeth pipes up. “If I remember correctly, senior year of high school you vandalized Mrs. Dodd’s room.” Percy grinned at her, the memory flashing through his eyes, and the two burst into laughter. 
If there was anything that made college easier, it was having her best friend next to her to suffer through it all with her. She and Percy had grown up together, living in the same neighborhood since middle school and being best friends ever since. Annabeth couldn’t be more grateful that they both managed to get into the same college.
She just wishes she wasn’t in love with him.
Never in a million years could Annabeth have predicted she would fall for her annoying, clueless neighbor. Yet here she was- hopeless. 
Annabeth turns, sticking her nose back into her math textbook to keep him from seeing the red that now dots her cheeks. She catches Piper’s eye from the table next to her and the girl raises a brow. Annabeth shoots her a warning look and Piper sighs audibly.
“Well I don’t know about you guys, but I’m over this. I’ve gotta meet Jace for date night- so see you around losers.” Piper leaves Annabeth with a knowing pinch of her shoulder and she grips her pencil tighter.
“We’re out too,” Leo and Calypso say grabbing their bags and standing up. “Date night waits for no one.” The library quiets down until it’s just Rachel, Percy, and Annabeth. Annabeth glances up to see Rachel and Percy looking at each other, a meaningful look in both of their eyes as if silently speaking to each other, just like she and Percy often did themselves. 
Annabeth bites down on her jealousy. 
“Oh gods,” Rachel mutters. “I’m late to tutor Octavian.” All three of them visibly grimace at the mention of the blonde idiot and Rachel scurries out of the library.
“Well,” Percy sighs. “Looks like it’s just us again Wise Girl.”
“What’s changed?” She smiles down at her paper. At that moment a text appears on her phone from Hazel.
>> Hey, can’t make movie night tonight, Frank just surprised me with dinner and a movie!!
>> Aw, that’s so sweet :) No issues, next time for sure
Annabeth groans and places her phone down. Percy shoots her a questioning look from behind his laptop screen. 
“There go my plans for tonight. Hazel’s out.” Annabeth glances at the clock, figuring it was time to return to the apartment she shared with Piper to finish up some homework. 
“Hey, why don’t we do something?” Percy’s voice is awkward when he asks and Annabeth can’t help but think how he sounds just like he did when he was twelve. She turned to him, her curls bouncing in her ponytail behind her. “We haven’t had a movie night since this semester started. Everyone’s out on date’s so let’s have a friend’s date. We can even order takeout.” Percy levels her with a kind smile and Annabeth tried not to melt on the spot. 
“I’d love to Percy, I really would. But this project is kicking my ass and-”
“Come on, Annabeth,” he whined. “Pleeeeeeeeease? I’ll even fight the spiders in your apartment for you.” Annabeth’s resolve had cracked at please but she smiled anyway. 
She rolls her eyes affectionately, hoping this wasn’t a mistake.
“Come over at six, Seaweed Brain. And don’t even think about coming without food.”

Percy shows up late, unsurprisingly, and Annabeth is in front of the TV with a physics textbook in her lap when he walks in sporting the key to her apartment she had given him months ago. 
Annabeth opens her mouth with a quick insult but Percy cuts her off.
“Before you say anything about me being late- I brought you pretzels.” A box of chocolate-covered pretzels falls into her lap a moment later and Percy collapses onto the couch next to her soon after. Annabeth tries her hardest not to lean into him or inhale his scent. It’s easy to think that seawater would smell disgusting. Like seaweed and dead fish. But Percy’s always made it smell good.
“So what are we watching?” Percy asks as Annabeth flips her page. Before she can grab her pencil again, Percy’s hand is over hers, ripping it away and chucking it across the room. Annabeth gapes at him.
“What the hell, Percy? I was using that.” Percy shrugs, opening a bag of popcorn he brought and shoving some in his mouth. 
“Not anymore you’re not. Movie night, Wise Girl. Remember?” Annabeth arches a brow and a slice of satisfaction courses through her as he turns a slight shade of gray in nervousness.
“You do realize I’m a forensic science major right?” That as well as architecture. “I could kill you and hide the evidence. No one would ever find the body.” Percy grins, visibly relieved that she’s joking, and relaxes his shoulders. He grabs her textbook from her lap and places it on the ground, grabbing her hand that held the pencil and lacing his fingers through hers instead.
Annabeth shoots him a questioning look and pushes down the blush that’s threatening to pour over her cheeks. 
“Gotta make sure you don’t grab that pencil again.” Percy shrugs, putting their hands on his lap as he turns his attention back to the television. At this point, Annabeth is trying her hardest not to combust. So instead she rolls her eyes and puts on Finding Nemo, Percy’s favorite movie. With as much as Annabeth claims to hate it, the way Percy voices each of the characters every time he watches it makes her laugh. 
Percy doesn’t say anything as the movie starts, not even to ask why she’s playing a movie she doesn’t like, and the two friends drift into a comfortable silence. 
Halfway through the movie, Annabeth is itching to get off the couch. Percy has started playing with her fingers instead of just holding them now, and Annabeth doesn’t think she can handle this much longer. So as Percy is voicing Squirt’s voice cuter than even the original actor can, Annabeth stands up, taking her hand away from Percy’s and ignoring his frown, and grabs her phone, pretending someone’s calling. 
“It’s uh… Luke,” she stutters out. Annabeth runs out of the room before she can register the look that flashes over Percy’s face at the mention of the boy from her physics class. The door to her room is slammed shut before she hears Percy’s response and Annabeth hangs her head in her hands. 
“Gods, Annabeth! What’s wrong with you? This is Percy!” 
Yeah, the Percy that you’re in love with. 
So Annabeth pulls herself together. She walks over to her bathroom and splashes a bucketful of freezing water over her face.
“Pull yourself together, Chase.” 
When Annabeth walks back out of the room, Percy is on the phone talking to someone. Annabeth realizes he hasn’t heard her door open and she can’t help but lean against her door frame to watch him for a moment.
He really is handsome, she can’t help but notice. He had gone from a cute kid to a handsome guy, and it was starting to keep her up at night.
“I don’t know Rach,” he was saying, and Annabeth fought down the swell of jealousy in her chest. She liked Rachel- she really did. What she didn’t like was how interested she seemed in Percy. The looks Rachel would shoot her when she was talking to Percy didn’t help either. “I just-”
“Percy, I swear to all the gods. If you don’t make a move soon-”
“I can’t just make a move Rachel. She doesn’t feel the same way and I’ve ruined years of friendship.” Rachel sighs from across the line and Annabeth doesn’t think she’s breathing. When Rachel speaks again, she’s clearly frustrated.
“Percy, Annabeth is hot. You have to have noticed that by now.” She states it as a fact and Annabeth holds back a snort. And then she realizes that the conversation is about her. Percy and Rachel are talking about his feelings for her. Annabeth thinks she’s going to faint. 
“Yes, Rach. I know she’s hot.” The statement sends a blush to her cheeks and Annabeth fights to stay silent as she watches her best friend squirm. 
“Right, and sooner or later, other people are gonna start noticing too. If you don’t say something soon, she’s going to move on, and you’ll really lose your chance.”
“She’s already gone,” he sighs defeated. “I think she’s into that guy Luke from her physics class.” Annabeth wanted to scream. Did he really think she liked Luke? What a Seaweed Brain. 
“God Percy, you really are an idiot, aren’t you? All you do is pine over this girl, and if you haven’t realized she’s pining just as hard for you, I don’t know what to tell you.” 
“Rachel, she’s my best friend. She would never-”
“Like you back?” Annabeth’s voice shocks him so much that he hangs up the phone and drops it on the ground. “Think again, Seaweed Brain.” Annabeth tilts the corner of her mouth into a small smile and comes to sit next to him on the couch. 
“A-Annabeth!” he stutters and Annabeth loves the blush that appears on his cheeks. “You- I- when did you- wait what?”
“You’re not seriously saying you didn’t know I’m in love with you.” Annabeth thinks she might be blushing, but she really doesn’t care anymore. Her best friend likes her back. 
“You’re what? But I’m in love with you.” Her heart stutters in her chest.
Annabeth’s laugh brings a grin to Percy’s face and she can’t help but brush a kiss to his cheek.
“Funny how that works, huh?”
