something that i've been struggling to articulate but has been bothering me for a while is how some christians engage and interact with science and what i'm realizing is they have a like... almost love-bombing/discarding relationship with it. and i recognize science isn't a person and that's not literally happening but the christians that i grew up around have this relationship with science where it's real/valid/correct if it supports their side and fake/invalid/wrong if it doesn't. it's this like... engaging with science to get something from it when it can prove their point and condemning it when it doesn't. and this also ties into the belief that you, a layperson with no background in science, are more knowledgeable than actual scientists simply because you have god on your side, and therefore you can use science in whatever way you see fit, which means engaging with it in a way that is ultimately anti-science (but that also doesn't matter because god said it was okay). and it's exhausting engaging with these people for me because it's not that they believe all science bad, it's that they believe most science bad but some science good and they have the authority to determine what is bad and what is good, despite, again, not having a background in science (because what is a "background in science" to an all-knowing god that you have a personal relationship with?). the thing that is so frustrating to me is how these people recognize science is valued and use it to strengthen the validity of their points and to gain credibility while simultaneously refusing to acknowledge the validity of science as a field at all or put in any effort to understand/respect it.

you ever think about the fact that earlier drafts of serpent society/sputnik were gonna address buckys entire time away from steve and then contrast that with their reunion and also focus on the memory wiping machine’s “mind crown” which was gonna parallel namor’s serpent crown and thus perfectly tie together the literal/mythrical and modernized mcu hydra elements alongside bucky’s past and then the russos just said “that’s too hard” and made up some random fucking triggers words that they could later DELETE??? as if that makes any sense, thats how conditioning works, that’s how the brain works, or that’s how trauma works

Happy Wednesday everyone! Thanks to @lemonlyman-dotcom, @reyesstrand, @birdclowns @inflarescent, @three-drink-amy, @mikibwrites, and @jesuisici33 for the tags, as always.
When I'm not working on the Parisian summer romance au (that just past 20k!) I'm working on the 5 + 1, so here's a little bit of that. Meet Carlos' therapist, Dr. María Ortiz who's helping him post 4x04:
--
“How’s TK?” Dr. Ortiz’s voice sounds bright as she asks the question. Carlos thinks it’s because TK has a tendency to be the sun in an otherwise cloudy haze. “Last we spoke, you said this has been difficult for him as well.”
Carlos did say that, but he meant it in the special sort of TK way. These last few weeks have been difficult for TK because they’ve been difficult for Carlos. They’ve been difficult for TK because all he wants is for things to not be difficult for Carlos.
“He’s worrying, like usual.” Carlos answers. “Though, I think he’s starting to worry a little less, which is nice. We finally got back to talking about the wedding. We looked at colors last Tuesday.” Carlos chuckles softly. “He keeps trying to convince me that “forest blue” is a thing.”
Dr. Ortiz is silent, looking at him expectantly. Well, at least to Carlos, that’s how she looks. “Are you waiting for me to say more?”
“Is there more that you want to say?”
“Why do you do that?” Carlos’ statement is more like a quip. He says it quickly, like it’s being pushed by a burst, a fire. “Why do you answer my question with another question?”
“Does that upset you?” Dr. Ortiz’s face doesn’t crack; not even to show the beginnings of a smile. Both her tone and demeanor are serious, not patronizing.
Carlos releases a short and sharp sigh. He whispers to himself, but loud enough for her to hear. “There you go again.” He crosses his arms over his chest. "I think he's starting to get annoyed."
Dr. Ortiz holds eye contact with him as she asks, "With what?"
"With me."

are the glitchy gang considered honorary agents by cuttlefush?
Bob, Meggy and Mario are considered honorary/part-time agents (like how I picture they justified Deep Cut's "Marie's Henchmen, apparently" role), a few of them are in non-agent support positions like Sheldon and Off the Hook, most of them are considered either civilian consultants or allied vigilantes, and the Guards (plus whichever branch of the military they've found themselves in charge of for some reason), MKPD and Koopa Troop are considered separate allied organizations (I included them because I still consider Bowser, X and FM to at least be part of the extended Glitchy Gang even if they're not part of the core SMG4 Crew)

Man... I really hate how syscourse has taken over the community. There's so much vitriol back and forth, and it's honestly just adding more toxicity to everything.
Endogenic systems (such as tulpas, soulbonds, etc.) used to be a widely accepted thing here; it's why they're so common. But now there is so much hate lobbied at them, from another community that also used to accept them, that they don't feel as safe navigating alterhuman spaces unless that space also has a target on its back.
Endogenic systems are not ableist, nor are they taking resources from systems who actually need them. They're not faking (which you can't even know), and they aren't hurting anyone. There's a reason that this position is called "sysmed"—it's because it has the same core as transmedicalism.
Psychology, as people so like to use to back themselves up, doesn't try to make claims about whether or not internal experiences are true. Instead, it assumes they are, and then seeks to answer why that person is experiencing it. I suggest that everyone does the same.

you know, out of all the (western) media pundits on the right who have positioned themselves as mouthpieces, its jordan peterson i find the most unbearable.
hes a pretentious fuckwit who acts like his academic background in psychology makes him uniquely qualified to engage in public discourse, while consistently using pseudoscience to justify his arguments. he uses buzzwords and flowery language to weave spiraling sentences that are ultimately meaningless or just every day bigotry. he responds to oppositional arguments by cherry-picking ideas or evidence, and stripping them from their context to create a strawman which he counters with never-ending academic jargon. and when he cant do that, he just asks what you mean when you use words that have widely agreed upon meanings because willfully misunderstanding your point is better for his position than actually engaging in a good faith discussion.
everytime i hear him speak, i want to dig my blunt, jagged fingernails into his pasty flesh and rip his face off of his head like hes nicholas cage. hes not worth the void of hatred i have for him in my brain, but it exists in my mind nevertheless. i have no interest in ever debating him because hes not worth any words or thoughts beyond insults. hes simply a tosser with an inflated sense of self-worth who holds himself with the air of a genius and yet doesnt know what snake sex looks like.
he is really not worth the hatred i feel toward him because hes nothing special in terms of right wing media pundits, but all the same, im 99% sure that if i ever saw him in person, id genuinely just punch him.like i wouldnt be able to hold myself back because he is so fucking punchable.
