Just some headcanons on what I think they would be like as boyfriends ♡

• he may try to act suave and charming all the time, but in reality he’s just clumsy in a cute way

• he gets flustered super easily

• you give him any compliment and his cheeks are already dusted with pink

• definitely tried to draft a contract for your relationship, but only cause he’s still insecure and that’s his defense mechanism

• he would never force you to sign it though

• dates at the Monstro lounge!!!

• you’re the only person allowed to enter the VIP room without knocking

• he’ll also try to subtly add items to the menu that are curated to your likes

• if you ask him about it though, he’ll deny deny deny

• he’ll also give you discounts, but it will never be free cause he still needs to make a profit (that’s a lie, if you gave him puppy dog eyes he would fold instantly)

• loves to spoil you

• refuses to admit that you have him wrapped around your finger, even if it’s obvious to everyone else

• he would do anything for you

• except show you his octopus form

• he’s still really insecure about it, and even though he knows you won’t judge him, he can’t help but worry

• he might at some point show you, it’ll just take a lot of time for him to get comfortable with the idea

• once he does though, it means he has a lot of trust in you

• he does tend to get jealous easily, but only because his insecurities get to him

• so when that happens, just reassure him that he’s the only one you have eyes for

• speaking of which, he loves it when you praise him, even if he does get flustered

• your appreciation means the world to him

• arguments do happen occasionally, but often times they’re more full of snide remarks and sarcasm rather than anything explosive

• they mainly happen because of stress; so all you guys’ need is some alone time before you reconvene and communicate about what the problems were

• would help you study

• jokingly says you’ll have to pay a price though… which just means he wants a kiss or attention

• not huge on PDA only because of how flustered he gets — he wants to save his image — so he would appreciate it if you let him know before making any moves in public

• that said, he does constantly have a hand on the small of your back

• tries to be a gentleman, but may stumble

• if anyone messed with you or talked bad about you, he would send the Tweels after them, and rest assured that it wouldn’t take long for the perpetrators to be cornered into a very unfavorable contract

• the Tweels enjoy your presence

• mainly cause it’s easier to tease and fluster Azul when you’re around, so they find it even more entertaining

• they are both happy for their friend though

• hesitant to let you meet his family, only because they would pester him about changing back into his natural form

• he would also combust if they showed you baby pictures of him; no matter how adorable you would find them

• so you only visit after he fully trusts you and is comfortable with you — and that he’s shown you his octopus form already

• over all, he is a shy boyfriend who would worship the ground you walk on ♡

• he may appear emotionless most of the time, with only the sinister smile of his gracing his features, but he does genuinely like you

• will want you to join the mountain lovers club, or at least join him on his hikes

• just because he wants to spend more time with you, and it’s doing something he’s passionate about

• which, he will talk to you about mushrooms as much as you’ll let him

• he’ll even show you his terrariums

• he isn’t prone to jealousy, but usually there’s no need for him to feel that way since people usually don’t flirt with you because Jade has his signature creepy smile that gets them to back off

• if they don’t, well then that’s on them…

• arguments aren’t common, because he’s extremely attuned to your emotions and will communicate with you about any issues

• even though he’s not known for his expressions, you’ll be able to read him extremely easily after some time

• which surprises him, but he loves it

• he will tease you, in what may come across as almost sadistic—

• but he never crosses the line

• he is very much a gentlemen

• therefore he doesn’t engage in much PDA

• but he will hold hands with you, or have his arm hooked so you can rest your hand in the crook of his arm while he puts his hand over yours

• he treats you very well

• whenever your upset, he will be solid at comforting

• gives you a shoulder to cry into, while also offering advice if you want it

• big on acts of service and will do what he can to help you

• usually people don’t bother you, but on the off chance they do, they’ll have to deal with both of the Tweels—

• Floyd likes teasing you but other than that he doesn’t really care too much about his twin’s relationship

• Jade would really appreciate it and love it if you and Floyd got along well though

• they are twins, after all

• Jade doesn’t care if you see his eel form or not, but if you want to see it then he won’t mind showing you

• meeting his family lowkey scares you—

• but as long as you prove to be loyal to Jade and that he’s happy, then they won’t interfere

•if you ever mention your interests, he’ll definitely look into them at least a little bit so you can talk about them to him

• to be completely honest, Floyd probably saw you as just a plaything at first

• but then he continued to be happy around you, which is what lead to your relationship developing

• dates can be completely random with no preparation

• it’s always an adventure with him

• also be prepared for lots of hugs squeezing

• he loves having you wrapped up in his arms all the time

• which means he absolutely loves PDA

• he almost always has his hands on you in some form whenever you’re by each other

• he’s especially taken to leaning all his weight on you, so be prepared for that

• he also has a never ending list of nicknames he calls you — some extremely random and bizarre

• Ace and Jamil have mixed feelings about you visiting their basketball practices/games

• on one hand, you give Floyd a boost to actually put real effort into the game

• but on the other hand he’s even more chaotic when you’re around; and his whole attention is on you instead of the game

• Floyd loves it when you come and watch him though

• he is extremely prone to jealousy given his mood swings, and the only way you can really “console” him is to distract him and give him your full attention

• this also means the arguments aren’t uncommon, and they can be extremely volatile

• when Floyd’s annoyed or angry, it’s not pretty

• so it’s best to just let him cool off elsewhere, and then when he’s ready he’ll come back

• as long as it wasn’t a major problem, there probably won’t be much conversation or apologies said about it, you’ll just go back to normal

• that said, he is extremely protective of you

• if someone says anything bad about you, or dares to try to mess with you, best believe they’re in for a serious squeezing

• Jade will help sometimes as well

• speaking of which, Jade keeps a close eye on you

• he likes you well enough, but he really cares about Floyd so he wants to make sure you’re right for his twin

• you guys get along pretty well normally though

• whenever you’re upset, Floyd’s remedy is to trap you in a hug

• he has no issues showing you his eel form

• you don’t even have to ask because it usually happens when he forgets to take the potion/medicine

kaeya:

contrary to what some people might believe, i think kaeya would actually be a more private-relationship kinda guy

he’d definitely make it known you guys were together, but he wouldn’t flaunt his relationship all over mondstadt

he appreciates privacy and the moments he has with you

he can never wait to finish work because of how badly he misses you all the time — especially if he’s on an expedition

he’s very teasing with you still, but not as much as everyone else. he’s definitely more down to earth and himself when he’s around you

whether they’re silly or deeply emotional and loving ones, the cavalry captain definitely writes you letters

he LOVES to cook for you, but it’s even better when you guys cook together (he’ll never admit it though)

super bashful about you, but he tries to cover it up with his charming and nonchalant facade (the only person he can’t hide it from is diluc)

speaking of diluc, kaeya claims he hates that you get along so well with him, but deep down he’s so unbelievably happy about it

cold? he’ll always give you his jacket or bring something warm for you just in case (especially because of his cryo vision)

overall just a super sweet and passionate boyfriend. he’s never loved anyone as much as you and will always value you above everything and everyone else

heizou:

claims it was love at first sight when he first met you, even though you weren’t a big fan of him at first

absolutely head over heels for you and makes it known

very flirty and constantly tries pick up lines on you even though you’re already dating him

i think he’d be very physically affectionate and likely always try to be near you whenever he can, whether that’s standing next to you, holding your hand, hugs, whatever

he likes it when you fake banter with him, but sometimes he can get a little down (so don’t make jokes about his detective abilities)

when he does get down, he gets EXTRA clingy. he particularly likes to lay down with you/ on you and just rest for awhile

he’s independent and confident, but definitely needs some occasional words of encouragement/ pep talks

heizou absolutely adores when you guys just get to talk about your interests. he really appreciates when you listen to his detective work and stories and is equally appreciative of your stories and interests you talk about

he’s SUCH a good listener. anything you wanted to tell him — boring or not — he’d listen. he just loves listening to your voice

tries to cook for you sometimes, but he isn’t the best at it. he honestly loves your cooking far more than his. though, sometimes he’ll use his cooking as an excuse to take you out to a nice restaurant and have a date

alhaitham:

alhaitham as a boyfriend is pretty rough around the edges

he can be sappy sometimes, but he honestly usually doesn’t see the point in it and prefers to be straightforward all the time — regardless of the fact that you’re dating

his compliments can sound harsh, but you know he means well

never says anything he doesn’t mean. he just wants to make sure you understand his love for you is completely and utterly genuine

arguments happen frequently because of his personality, but he’s pretty quick to resolve them once he comes to his senses and realizes his wrongs

he’s not a shitty boyfriend though, don’t get me wrong

he’s protective of you and always watches out for you. though, sometimes you argue he’s too protective

not the most flirty, but if he sees someone else flirting with you, this man suddenly becomes a bit of a different person (jealous much?)

lends you his clothes a lot. and he won’t admit it, but he really likes the way you look in them

enjoys reading with you. days where you just get to spend quiet time leaning on one another just reading books are his favorite

cooks for you all the time and is VERY good at it. sometimes you wonder where he picked up the skill

like heizou, he’s head over heels for you except he tries to play it off all the time (but fails every single time)

he loves hugging you…like an abnormal amount. when he get’s excited, he hugs you. when he gets sad, he hugs you. when he’s laughing, he hugs you. you get the point

he’s obviously not the smartest and can be a bit dense when it comes to certain things or emotions, but he’s always willing to try to help and understand you no matter what

and sometimes he doesn’t understand you, but he’s always listening. in fact, i think itto would be a really great listener

super protective and easily jealous. that, too, he tries to play off but he’s not fooling anybody

he’s always got your back and you’ve always got his. to shinobu, he calls you his partner in crime

he uses you as motivation to not get in jail, because even though he’s always hated it, he hates it even more now because that he can’t see you

very comfortable to be around, and he does that on purpose. he’d never want to make you uncomfortable and always makes sure you feel welcomed with him and with the gang

super loving and always makes sure you feel loved and secure. but make sure to do the same for him, because he can definitely get a little insecure sometimes—being an oni and all

You’re so Pretty (Klaus Baudelaire x GN!Reader)

Summary: With a peaceful and quiet moment of studying with Klaus, you notice some features on him that you admire. So, you tell him. Pronouns: You/Yours Warnings: Fluff Word Count: 1.2k A/N: This was requested but Tumblr ate the request </3, this one is short and sweet, in my opinion anyways.

Quiet moments are extremely rare in the Baudelaire children's case ever since their parents died. They were constantly on the run, fighting away from Count Olaf and his group of associates, wondering who they could trust and who they couldn’t.

They finally had some sort of quiet at Prufrock Preparatory School, a gloomy boarding school that they were sent to since there were no other guardians to watch over them. They could ignore the nasty comments from Carmelita, the short and pink covered girl who had made it her mission to make everyone feel inadequate to her. They could ignore them because at this school they at least had multiple people defending them and sticking by their sides. Those people were Duncan Quagmire, Isadora Quagmire, and you.

Isadora and Duncan were currently pretending to be Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire (a sack of flour) for gym class so the two eldest could study, Sunny staying with her siblings. Since there were only three Baudelaire siblings, you went with them to study instead of going with the Quagmires.

Violet had taken Sunny to the library, expressing a need for some English textbooks that were closer to date than the dust covered and ripped pages of the ones she was provided by her teacher earlier that day. Sunny babbled her preference for a change of scenery, something different than the orphan shack they had been shoved into.

Klaus had stayed in the leaky orphan shack, he had all he needed to study. You would have followed Violet to give him a bit of peace but he grasped your wrist gently, asking you to stay so he wouldn’t be alone. You nodded and returned to your seat, asking him a few pop quiz questions to which he answered correctly with no hesitation.

There was a comfortable silence between the two of you. Sounds of pages flipping, pencil scribbling on paper, and the occasional shift in the seat had filled the room. Klaus had been muttering a few facts under his breath as he tried to connect them to the almost useless textbook in front of him.

Your gaze had shifted up from your writings, landing on Klaus’s concentrated expression. A small smile grazed your features before you looked back down, eyes flickering up once more then right back down. You hummed a bit, inhaling a quiet breath, “You’re so pretty Klaus.” You spoke into the room, not even looking up to see his reaction.

It was a simple comment, small compliment. You weren’t embarrassed or nervous to say it, the words actually spilled from your lips rather easily. That’s why you just went back to your work, jotting a few notes, skimming the book. Silence had enveloped the two of you once more and you didn’t mind it, it was a simple comment.

You looked back up to see what page Klaus was on and he was looking right at you, your reflection slightly in his glasses. His face was filled with shock? Confusion? A small blush had formed on his face, so wide that it went from his cheek and inflamed his ears. His eyes were slightly wide, the light from the makeshift light source that Violet made was glossing over them. His mouth was only slightly open, he wasn’t gaping like a fish, but he did look like he was trying to find words. All that came out was a quiet, “What?”

You had blinked at him, already forgetting what you had said until it filled your mind once more. You shrugged, “I said you’re pretty.” You repeated, now making eye contact with him, studies long forgotten. He furrowed his brows, putting his pencil down, “What prompted you to say that?” He asked you.

No one had ever called him…pretty before, so it felt foreign for him to hear it. He hadn’t been doing anything that could gain a compliment of such from anyone, nonetheless you.

You thought about it, tilting your head with a twist of your face as you thought. “Nothing necessarily,” You began, now softening your expression, arms crossing to lay on the table in front of you, “I just looked up and wanted to tell you.” You told him simply, shrugging once more. Klaus pursed his lips, deeply sighing, “You think that I'm…”

“Pretty.”

“Why?”

“Why?” You asked with a raised brow, unsure of what to make of the question.

He nodded, hands now messing with his glasses, “Yes, I did ask why.” He spoke, slightly avoiding your gaze.

You puffed air into your cheeks, shifting your arms on the table for a more comfortable position. You chuckled a bit, “Um, well.” You began, not expecting him to ask such a question. You found his gaze once more, his more hesitant than yours. Your eyes were gentle, welcoming, and kind. “Your glasses are big and they frame your face kind of awkwardly,” You observed to which he shifted and adjusted them, “and it's cute when you have to adjust them.” You giggled out when he did just that.

He had realized he had been caught doing exactly what you described, he playfully rolled his eyes, “Okay, I do not-”

“But they make it easier to see the shine in your eyes.” You interrupted him, the comment caused him to look at you surprised. You cleared your throat, “Your eyes are brown but it's like gold is glittered over them.” You explained, your words met with silence so you decided to continue. You took a deep breath, “You have freckles and they’re prominent when you’re focused.” You continued on, eyes unintentionally scanning over his face where his freckles stare back at you. You turned to face him completely instead of it just being your head, biting the inside of your cheek. “When moonlight or sunlight hits you” You spoke quietly, your own eyes shining, “you kind of glow.” You informed him.

You remembered every time the two of you were outside together, how the sun would shine on him, making him look like some sort of scene from a book. When you walked back to the shack at night, the moon high and bright, his skin would glow like it was absorbing the light, an ethereal look he seemed to never notice about himself.

Klaus listened to your words carefully, following every phrase until you were silent, eyes glistening as they looked into his. It was only then he realized you had finished your explanation. He sputtered a bit trying to find words, moving his hands to awkwardly move his glasses and move hair out of his face. He inhaled deeply, exhaling just the same, “Thank you.” He expressed his gratitude to you quietly, reaching his hand out over the table slowly, nervously.

You noticed this action and moved your hand to move to his. He turned his hand so his palm would be upward and you interlock your fingers with his.

The two of you went back to studying, scribbling on paper and turning pages, fingers still interlaced above the table.

Klaus continued to look through his studies before mumbling a small, “You’re pretty too.” He wasn’t sure if you heard it, so he decided to not repeat it due to him being quite flustered from the past few moments. You did hear it, you smiled and held his hand a little tighter, writing down the boring information from the textbook.

Quiet moments are extremely rare in the Baudelaire children's case. Klaus Baudelaire wished to relive this specific peaceful moment everyday, because he didn’t think about anything else other than you. He would like to keep life that way.

Lockwood & Co Book Thoughts

Can’t believe it’s over. I’ve finished all 5 books and the short story, and wishing there was more.

I can’t even begin to describe how amazing that series was, how perfectly everything in the story fit, and how masterfully handled all the relationships were.

Reader, take a seat as I am about to ramble.

And also, SPOILERS GALORE from this point on.

Lockwood & Lucy

Lockwood and Lucy were fantastic, and truly, to anyone who ever considered their relationship “subtle”, they must have been reading different books. Sure, they didn’t get to snog, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what hadn’t been written. After turning that last page, I know what came next. They are truly, undoubtedly, I’ll-stake-my-mother’s-life-on-it in love. They love one another so much. Lockwood would give his life for Lucy (he truly was GONNA), and Lucy WOULDN’T LET HIM.

It’s not even about the jewelry Lockwood gave Lucy, either, though that is a pretty good indicator, but it’s all the things he says and does. It’s the way he looks at her, turns to her, is vulnerable with her. Lockwood and Lucy almost talk with their eyes. He knows her more than anyone else, simply from his proximity and his observations of her. I can go on and on about his heart eyes and his need for her approval (in this, we know Lucy does the same to him), so

I will.

First of all, Lockwood does consider Lucy attractive. Lucy doesn’t like the way she looks, but that’s just regular self-consciousness, which we all have in spades, no matter how amazing our own better qualities are. Lockwood so easily complimented the way she looked when she got dressed up for the Fittes’ ball. He never criticized the way she looked or dressed, and while he had occasionally mentioned the size of her body, which Lucy’s self-consciousness interpreted as being a criticism, it was never about that with Lockwood. Lockwood’s mention of her body-type has everything to do with what it was capable of, of its strength, even its athleticism. Lockwood absolutely likes how Lucy can brawl with the best of them. Absolutely. He never treated Lucy like a frail flower until he actually saw her bleeding, which is truly a testament to how he respected her physical abilities. He’s a little more careful with her psychic abilities, but that’s a whole different discussion.

The point is, Lockwood always liked the way Lucy looked. She is his type. There were clearly several, more attractive people around them, Holly being the most beautiful of them all, with a really lovely personality, but Lockwood’s eyes NEVER strayed. Never. He took care of Holly, but there wasn’t an indication of Lockwood ever being vulnerable with her as he was with Lucy. We know this because it’s one of the things Holly indicated to Lucy after Lucy’s months-long absence—that she couldn’t crack the boys the way she knew Lucy did, and she was hoping Lucy can give her tips. Lockwood is a caretaker, and he takes care of those who thinks need protecting. When Holly first started, she was rusty on the field and Lockwood knew it. He was their leader and he felt responsible for all of them. He knew Lucy could handle herself and Holly couldn’t. Towards the end of the series, as Holly got more experience on the field, Lockwood looked out for her less. Lucy was always Lockwood’s second on the field. George’s seniority gave him second chair in the agency, but it was Lucy Lockwood depended on when they were fighting side-by-side. He always trusted that she could watch his back.

They were perfect partners on the field. He alludes constantly to how well they work together, how he missed her when she left them for a few months after The Hollow Boy, how she has her own mind, that he is always thinking about her, how he trusts that she would always have his back. That last part always bowls me over, because Lockwood would always tell Lucy to let him go alone, and she never listens, and he just knows she wouldn’t, so ordering her to let him do something alone was almost perfunctory at a certain point. And of course we know that no matter how far Lucy runs away, no matter how forcefully she goes out and does things by herself, Lockwood would ALWAYS follow. He simply wasn’t going to let Lucy go off by herself, getting herself killed.

They complement each other perfectly, with Lockwood’s confidence, style, skill, and balls like dynamite, he is capable of doing the impossible, improbable, and lead armies into battle. And he is strong enough, good enough, to inspire Lucy’s loyalty and cooperation.

Lucy is A FORCE. She gets frightened and is aware of her limitations, but she will power through the fear and self-doubt, she will do what she has to do. She might not be the most graceful about it, but she will get things done. She will enforce. She will barrel through with whatever she can get her hands on—a 4x4, a hammer, a vase, her foot, her entire body, the forces of fucking physics. I pity the fool who dares to hurt Lockwood and George. The ones who dared threaten her other friends—Holly, Kipps, and even Skull. They will know Lucy Carlyle.

And then we get to the groveling, the way he did everything to get Lucy back to Lockwood & Co., back to 35 Portland Row. How after he had managed to talk he back into working with the agency, he kept reminding her how they had such a great partnership. We don’t get to see Lockwood like this until The Creeping Shadow (book 4), but we were treated to it so early on in the Netflix series. This is mainly because Lucy is more bedazzled by Lockwood’s charisma and confidence in the books. Netflix!Lucy is more disillusioned from the get-go from the things she’d already seen and experienced on her own, so it’s only natural that she is quicker on the uptake when she first walks into Portland Row, and how she more swiftly realizes Lockwood’s recklessness as early as the antique shop incident with the Winkmans. In the books, Lucy doesn’t become overly concerned by Lockwood’s tendency to forgo his safety to ensure hers until The Hollow Boy. It featured daily in her anxieties in The Creeping Shadow, and then she accepted it as fact in The Empty Grave, where she did everything she could to prevent him from sacrificing himself for her.

A lot of things happened in The Empty Grave, with the spectacular events of the Problem coming to a head. I don’t think I’ve ever loved a book ending as much as this. But as far as Lucy and Lockwood go, this was amazing.

It starts at The Creeping Shadow, for sure, but in The Empty Grave, Lockwood has stopped pretending that he wouldn’t always turn to Lucy first, that she and he share a special bond. Lucy says so—they are closer than ever. Lockwood takes time alone with her every chance he gets; Lucy seeks Lockwood when she doesn’t see him.

Lockwood was mesmerized by a ghost because it took Lucy’s form (by the way, I WANT TO SEE THIS SCENE IN NETFLIX. From the time Lockwood falls under the La Belle Dame’s spell to Lucy’s death-defying trapeze act to save his life), we know because HOLLY thought she saw Lucy, and we also know from previous male victims that the La Belle Dame’s ghost took the form of whomever her victim most desired. It’s what she did in life, so it’s what she does in death. With women, as was with Lucy, the La Belle Dame tapped into Lucy’s isolation and vulnerability—again, something the La Belle Dame understood when she was alive, as she seemed to take special disregard in the wives of the men she ensnared. Her manifestations between men and women as a ghost reflected how she impacted them in life.

And we all could see at this point how everyone else knew how Lockwood and Lucy felt about each other, probably since book 1, but it was only in The Creeping Shadow that Lockwood actually began to get obviously aware of it.

Jonathan Stroud likes to heavily imply things rather that put it out there. He does it with Flo and George, Holly and her roommate, and most distinctly with Lockwood and Lucy. I bet that if you asked Stroud outright whether Lucy and Lockwood ended up together, he would say, “Short of making them kiss on the page, I don’t think I could have been more obvious.”

Which brings me to the other characters in the books.

George Cubbins (aka George Karim)

George’s value to Lockwood & Co. cannot be overstressed. He is the reason they actually had purpose to everything they did. They could not have defeated any of those ghosts without George, at least not without loss of life. It was George who inspires the most brilliant or/and most outrageous ideas, whether they came from Lockwood, Lucy, or George himself. He is some kind of eccentric Muse to Lockwood & Co.

I confess that my mind’s eye of George goes from Book!George to Netflix!George, depending on what he’s doing in the books as I read about him. When he is eating and inadvertently flashing his butt crack, I definitely imagine him as Book!George. When he is wild with research, teaming up with Flo, and when he got beat up, I am totally imagining Netflix!George.

Lucy is right in saying he was the best of them in the Netflix series. He is their constant, particularly in the books. He is the person they relied on to seek answers and they know that with him around, they would find a way through the seemingly impossible questions, which is why their entire world got upended when George got beat near to death. The fact that he couldn’t even be at the house did a number on them all. They couldn’t make heads or tails of anything without George, and in their helplessness, they did Research the only way they knew how—break into a library, steal Stuff, and blow the entire house down, bodies at their wake. George would never. At least not the exploding part.

In the books, George joined their caper in the Black Library, and he was exceptionally bad at it, getting stuck under a shelf or table of some sort. In the Netflix series, they left him out, and rightfully so. It was not George’s thing to break things in a library, which is all Lucy and Lockwood did in them.

George incites Lockwood and Lucy’s most protective instincts, and when George got hurt, Lockwood and Lucy plotted revenge. They didn’t even argue about it. Lucy was, “I’m going to kill them all! I am SO GOING TO MAKE THEM SUFFER.” And Lockwood was like, “Yes. And. We’re going to steal that book back as we do it. And if we burn everything else down, so be it. Won’t be the first time.” No argument after that. They just agreed to do it like the maniacs they were.

It’s Protect George at All Costs. If anything happens to George, Lucy and Lockwood will burn down the entire world. Everyone knows this because everyone who was in on the plan accepted it as fact.

And Then of Course There’s Skull

I’m going to take a moment to appreciate the sheer skill in which Stroud wrote Skull as a character.

The book is so full of complex characters, but to write someone to be so despicable and yet have all of us rooting for the little fucker is a tremendous feat. And no, Skull is not like the Draco Malfoys and even the Jamie Tartts of fandom.

No. Let me explain.

Draco Malfoy was NOT a likeable character. Not in the slightest. Whatever redeeming qualities he had was plucked and cultivated by fandom. He became complex because the fandom examined Malfoy down to the threads of his expensive robes. It was fandom and fanfic who reshaped Malfoy’s post-HP character.

Jamie Tartt sucked at the beginning of Ted Lasso, but his character DID grow. He became a better person on the show. He redeemed himself like a decent human being, so he IS lovable. He’s pretty amazing and OF COURSE we’re rooting for him now. That’s pretty much the arc they wrote for him.

Skull is different in that he didn’t change one bit. Not a single bit. He was every bit as despicable from beginning to end, and yet his last final appearance in the book, he did save Lucy and Lockwood. Did he feel friendship? Maybe. But it never seemed like he did things for anyone other than himself, even if it looked like it did. Did he really do it for friendship? I think he did it for vanity. He wanted to show Ezekiel and Marissa that he wasn’t weak, that he was stronger than Ezekiel himself. A ghost having feelings seems far-fetched. He was an evil little thing in life and he wasn’t that much different in death, and we will never truly know why Skull saved them in the end, but if there was ever a person who can motivate a ghost to feel something, it would be Lucy.

I laughed when everyone else finally met Skull on the Other Side and they heard him speak. Lockwood immediately asked, “Is that how he always talks to you?” Like, of course Lockwood would be concerned, because Jesus Christ. Skull is just terrible and poor Lucy has to hear it all the time. Lockwood is understandably concerned.

Skull is just awful, and yet we all think he’s Lucy’s bff and some of us even believe Skull wants Lucy all to himself. I personally wanted him to survive that blast. I kept wishing Stroud would leave us with that.

What a fantastic character Skull is. (Why is it that all dudes with his character look like Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer?)

And it’s a little funny that Quill kind of gets him.

Quill Kipps

Where do I begin with this guy. He was a massive prick at the beginning of the series, for sure. He was worse in the books than he was on Netflix, for sure, but I always imagined Netflix!Quill as I read him. He is the Jamie Tartt of Lockwood & Co., the character that showed the most growth.

I was already sold on him because of the show, but I absolutely appreciated him fully in The Hollow Boy, when it became clear to me that all he really wanted was to keep all agents safe, to stop the madness of the Chelsea outbreak because it was costing lives. He just wanted to be useful again, and I can’t tell you how tickled I was by his unbridled enthusiasm when the glasses allowed him to see the ghosts again.

And then he was just part of Lockwood & Co. They call him a consultant, but that’s just a load of bullshit. He is as much Lockwood & Co. as Holly is. When they realized how badly injured he was, the sheer panic of everybody, scrambling desperately for materials that could staunch the bleeding, and finding the means to transport him through a throng of murderous people and ghosts. They can call it whatever they want, but they all, Lockwood included, loved Quill enough to fight for his life.

I was seriously ready to write a rant post if Quill had gotten killed. My relief when he survived was the same as Lucy’s and the same as Lockwood’s (happy enough to hug him and worried enough to ask after him at the hospital).

I don’t think Quill ever lost his edge (aka His knee-jerk skepticism of Lockwood and his exasperation of George’s sagging pants), but he is completely trustworthy and brave.

Speaking of complex characters—

Holly Munro and Lucy Carlyle

I wanted to give Holly her own section, but so much of what I know of Holly stems from her relationship with Lucy.

As a character, I think she is the reason Lockwood & Co. are thriving. She knows exactly how to handle the clients they don’t need and she understands Lockwood’s goals well enough to book the clients that were worth the trouble. And it wasn’t always about the money and fame. Holly had a keen eye, not just for what Lockwood wanted, but also for what Lucy and George might enjoy. She is a true professional, and she is the magical, caring assistant that any organization could hope for.

Orderly, efficient, unafraid of offending important people because she had the looks and the smarts not to offend. The way Lucy described her, petals may as well float to the ground she walks on. Holly was beautiful, smart, classy, and the picture of poise. She could have fallen down a trash chute and she’d be dirty only in the right places. She could be covered in sludge and still look amazing. She cleaned, she catalogued, she was on top of things, and her fashion sense was impeccable. In short, Holly played on every insecurity Lucy had and Holly wasn’t even trying to do any of that.

We only come to find out at the end of The Hollow Boy that Lucy played into Holly’s insecurities, too, and it was Lucy’s own half-assed efforts to act like a mature adult that ended up grating at Holly’s generally sweet disposition.

I can tell that both Holly and Lucy made it work. So much hate is lobbed at Lucy for being thorny and irritable, but they were feeding each other’s contempt. Lucy seems more abrasive about it, but that is truly her way, unrefined by pleasantries and the more particular norms of decorum that tends to be easier for those in Holly’s social class. Lucy’s upbringing was less avocados and quinoa and more potatoes and gravy. Lucy did not have the money or the parental love to know the difference between “critical conversations” and unfiltered honesty, but she did know how to be polite enough, and both she and Holly were mature enough to deal with getting paired off during missions, at least until they decided to have it out at the end of The Hollow Boy.

In spite of all that, Holly and Lucy was keenly aware of the other’s gifts. They knew they had issues and they both did their best to work together, and just when they got to a place where they can be friends, Lucy pulls the rug from under them and leaves. Everyone is convinced it’s about Holly, but of course everyone is wrong.

At the end, Lucy and Holly came to appreciate one another. So much so that Lucy didn’t so much as blink at the suggestion of Holly moving into 35 Portland Row.

I wish there were more books. I wish Netflix would keep making new seasons.

I could not get enough, and I suppose all there is to do now is write fanfic.

Celina, I had the most random thought about a yandere rottmnt isekai au.

I was rewatching some rottmnt earlier and I noticed how I barely commented on anything, aside from a smile and a small chuckle here and there. It got me thinking…

What if m/c was like that? What if m/c never really commented at all aside from a few chuckles and small comments sprinkled throughout an episode? Maybe they are a bit of an introvert too? How would yandere rottmnt turtles react to this?

I think they would go insane trying to find any information at all about m/c, and at first it isn’t even because of their yandere-ness! They just want to know who the heck is watching them!

I think that they may try to do things to make m/c speak, but they wouldn’t outright reveal themselves as able to hear m/c (let’s be real here, if you found out an entity beyond your realm was watching you, would you instantly let them know you are aware of them or would you at least try to make sure they are safe first?).

Soon, m/c’s voice becomes… addicting. The boys constantly crave m/c’s voice and comments, doing anything to know more about them and just hear them again! This is amped up if m/c gives them small compliments here and there… especially with Donnie and Leo… (The turtles would probably develop the belief that the only reason they can hear m/c and no one else from m/c’s realm is because m/c belongs in their realm…)

Then they try to break into m/c’s realm…

Donnie would most likely be able to connect with the tech first with his nimpo, then he would hack into any device near m/c. Cameras, laptops, phones, everything! It isn’t long before the turtles learn more about m/c than they would’ve ever known beforehand, maybe even more than m/c themself…

It isn’t long before Donnie hacks into m/c’s phone and establishes a connection between the turtles and m/c’s devices…

Poor m/c would have no idea who these random people who sound-er, text?- a lot like their favorite characters from ROTTMNT. I doubt the turtles would give themselves away immediately, they would most likely bide their time and gain more information on m/c (This could also be translated into your sentient AI thing you have going on).

They would only reveal themselves in person, once the portal is ready and they can take what rightfully belongs in their world. M/c wouldn’t have the chance to run before they are dragged away, kicking, screaming, and crying, out of their own reality…

“Why are you fighting us, dear? Don’t you love us? Our reality is- No, stop fighting us- our reality is much better than this bitter and cold world, you won’t have to worry about anything ever again!”

(Bonus if Donnie hacks into m/c’s friends and families phones so Dr. Delicate Touch can have a few words with them…)

First of all, delicious idea you got here- as always I'll just add a little tidbit.

Imagine occasionally they accidentally whisper or mumble when they hear you speak in the rare moments that you do. Like with me, I either talk to myself about somewhat off-topic things or just say the most basic compliments that are more or less for my self-indulgence in expressing my true feelings. (We'll go with compliment bcs that makes more sense in terms of yan development)

"Donnie is so skrunkly when he's feral I love it-"

*Donnie who was just having a typical "who's better" debate with Leo* "Oh won't you look at that...I'm loved even in times of undomesticated behaviours~" *he's very smug, and definitely is bouncing with joy internally*

I think for the most part Donnie, Leo, and Raph react pretty similarly. They kinda just have an odd pull to the weird ass voice they occasionally hear sometimes, wanting to find out more about it. So they can cling to it as emotional support.

But Mikey?

He is legit going to think he's some prophet of this mysterious voice which he believes is a superior being. Like even the smallest comment will literally make him whisper to himself- "Oh my divinity, I am a follower of your every word.." Wouldn't be surprised if he has heart eyes istg-

But if his bros say they can hear it too, he will literally be so pissed. He'll accuse they're lying and basically manipulating him into thinking he's not special. I wouldn't be surprised if he busts out Dr. Delicate Touch to start accusing them of any crime that fits with the situation. And in the end, he'll always conclude with "I'm the only one who gets to be the chosen one of my divinity~ so stop lying alright?"

Also there's one thing I want to point out with Raph, I feel he would get attached to the voice so bad over time that he either A. cannot make any rational decisions without it or B. he gets super anxious if he doesn't hear it in his head 24/7. I feel he would nickname it like, "my secret voice" or "my mind plushie".

Leo and Donnie definitely fight the most about the voice, but they also plan together the most when it comes to finding out more about the owner of the voice. But their intentions with each other are never mentioned.

(this was such a half-assed rant but surely it should be a little insight on my thoughts).

Kunikida x gn!Reader Headcanons

A/N: so me and my girlfriend broke up recently and I’ve been super down and in desperate need of some fluff to feel better. So whilst I catch back up on finishing requests, have some wholesome Kunikida headcanons - he’d make the best boyfriend. I’m very sorry for being slow, just life hiccups, thank you for your patience! N E ways, enjoy this short little thing!

Warnings: none!

- Kunikida is the type of man who values quality time together; as someone who is super busy with work, any time off the clock and with you is treasured and cherished greatly.

- If you work at the ADA, its obvious to say that he won’t act super coupley with you; he will however, glance over at you a lot (to check if you’re working pfffttt) - though he finds himself staring at you for longer than intended (this man is in love love okay?)

- He will occasionally drop a forehead kiss when he is passing by, or instead of holding hands, he will link your pinky fingers together when no one is looking.

- If you work at the same desk as him, either side of him or opposite, please please play footsies with him; he may scold you but he secretly loves it when you affectionately kick him or rub your leg against him.

- Kunikida will bring you coffee, or tea, or something caffeinated, especially if you had a bad night sleep - but rest assured, he will also scold you if you have too much caffeine because “its not good for you” smh

- oh yeah, get used to getting scolded - but I guess you could call it a love language of his

- If you don’t work at the ADA, Kunikida makes a special note that he is to come straight home to see you immediately after work. With the exception of emergencies, (like idk the ADA being threatened by an enemy organisation every other week) he will make sure that absolutely everything is done at work so that he can put it behind him and focus on you.

- After work, if you ask him to pick up some milk from the store, he’s on it, it’s written in his notebook and he will absolutely not forget; also, I just know that he would pick up some flowers for you whilst there’s are the store

- He gives me househusband vibes honestly, he shares the load of housework (if not takes on majority of the responsibility, not that you wouldn’t do it, but he has a system). If he comes home from work before you, expect the place to be spotless, not only for his wellbeing, but he likes seeing your face light up in surprise.

- I mentioned that he isn’t into PDA at work, but its totally opposite outside of hours. In fact, I believe he is quite clingy. Constantly touching you kind of clingy. If you are cooking, his arms are around your waist, head in the nook of your neck and he just holds you for a long while

“Darling, I’m trying to cook”

“Hmm” *hugs tighter*

- Speaking of cooking, he would also be a fantastic chef. He would scope out the best recipes and follow each instruction to a tee. Though, as much as he enjoys cooking, his favourite meals are the ones you make, because they come from you.

- Kunikida’s love language is definitely more physical than it is in words. Don’t get me wrong, he would tell you he loves you, but he’s not exactly versed in romance. That being said, if you want cuddles and/or kisses? You got it on TAP. Any moment, at any time, BOOM its yours - if you catch him in a good mood, he may also be generous with his hugs and kisses at work - but don’t push your luck.

- If you ever so much as compliment him, he will explode. Bright red, a little speechless (or at least incoherent) and will mumble something about how lovely you are - trying his best to return the compliment.

- As per his notebook, he will have his nightly routine to the exact second, its very important for him, and you, to have a schedule that ensures you both get the best rest possible to work efficiently the next day.

- What he always fails to take in account when writing his schedule is the extra 10 minutes the two of you share just holding each other in the morning. He knows he should get out of bed 8am sharp, but there’s something about you holding him, your head against his chest, your legs entwined with each other, and the way you softly breath in your sleep is what convinces him to stay in just a little longer. - he may even stay 20 minutes longer in bed if you are big spoon, its harder for him to pull away.

- Needless to say, he has a lot of quirks which I will go into in future posts but…his love for you is genuine and he’d never want you to doubt it for even a minute.

I’m not much of a commenter (which is super hypocritical since receiving comments is my kryptonite lol), but I just felt like I needed to. I cannot describe how much I enjoy your work; I’m absolutely floored by the sheer word counts you dash out so consistently. Nothing ever feels choppy, and the scenes flow nicely into each other! Your funny moments are funny, your sad ones are crushing, and everything else in between is iconic.

I guess I was wondering just how you manage to stay so consistent? I write chapters that usually range between 13-17k myself, but I can’t seem to stick with a consistent updating schedule. How often do you write? Do you sit down daily and write just a little, or do you sit down occasionally but manage a few k each time?

Also, I cannot stress this enough how natural everyone’s relationship in Trouvaille is. I feel like it’s realistic that none of the boys would be immediately too keen with the mc but that they also wouldn’t stay distant forever? It felt special being able to gradually read about their developments, and I feel like once the mc gets with more of the boys eventually, it’ll be so rewarding? Idk, but I just cannot wait. The latest chapter ending scene with Jin has me so on edge; I can sense the angst from here—

The last two chapters have been a bit shorter, but sometimes you say all that you need to without necessarily hitting the original wc estimate. I'm so happy to hear that the flow is smooth, and that you're enjoying the humorous moments (loveeee sneaking in things my mom have said before, her one-liners kill!) and I'm eeeeee you're too sweet thank you thank you 😭💕

As for consistency! I love this question, because I might have pulled the wool over your eyes. I started writing Trouvaille summer of 2022, and wrote up to Chapter 6 before I ever began posting on Tumblr. Between July 2022 - July 2023 I had chapters on "reserve" so really I'd just edit them before posting them.... Now, not so much the case. I write each chapter (since 8) each month, which admittedly can be a bit stressful, but it honestly forces me to write consistently and constantly. I think that can be a potentially good thing for writers who struggle to actually put pen to paper, having a "deadline" monthly, but every writer is different!

Additionally, I'm not the best person to ask about writing schedules,,, unfortunately I am a procrastinator so OFTEN I binge-write for hours on end. I recommend setting aside an hour or two a day to write if time allows you to do so, rather than type nonstop for 8 hours the day before an update LMAO!! I definitely want to become the writer that does bit by bit every day to cut down on the stress. I also want to say that once I stopped pressuring myself to make EVERY update 20k+words, things flowed a little more easily. It's better to have a shorter update that's concise and has everything you want to say, rather than bulking it up with filler.

Thank you so so much for loving all of the character's relationships so far, too 🥺 I know slow burn isn't for everyone, but it always felt more natural for me to write the hybrids as slow-to-trust, considering the world they live in in Trouvaille. I agree with you, when everyone starts to grow closer and closer over time, the sweet moments will seem even sweeter after all of the angst and growing 💕

Assorted GramBlack Headcanons

So @soyellowcurtainsthen (on behalf of corporate 🍳🍳) requested I fill out this post with one of my fave otps GramBlack. And like all good things it spiralled into its own collection so, enjoy? (if corporate needs me I'll be out of office until my next obsession)

What is each member’s love language?

Gram’s is definitely physical touch. If he can, he will constantly be touching Black or just holding on to the back of his shirt or something. Honorable mention to random declarations of love. Gram will take one look at Black and go that’s my whole world, and not hesitate to say so.

Black’s is probably acts of service. He does a lot of things for Gram he wouldn’t for anyone else. like be vulnerable with him or stop him from getting suspended during one of their missions where he literally left Sean . Most importantly, he lets Gram get away with so much more than anyone else. Stupid jokes? Funny if they’re Gram’s. Public displays of affection? Tolerable if it’s Gram. Letting someone else beat him in a sparing match? Occasionally, so Gram knows he cares.

What would they describe as their perfect date?

(What we should’ve gotten in the show I swear) Probably something like the day White and Gram spent at the protest or casually fixing bikes or studying together. They just like being together. Mayybeee early morning bike rides if they’re still up.

Who made the first move?

Honestly, Yok. He made one too many jokes about them needing to get together. Gumpa secretly hyped them both up. But ultimately it was Yok who when veryyy drunk admitted that they both liked each other and if Gram and Black didn’t at least try to kiss, Yok and White would reveal the texts they sent about each other. Good team effort guys.

Who is more sentimental?

Gram. Do I even have to explain this one? Gram. Black may keep one or two sentimental items (the dolls, the DOLLS that should have been GramBlack and if- sorry I digress, also the handkerchief). But Gram will be like this is the rock I was standing by when Black once said my eyes were kind of pretty.

Which member calls the other in to kill the spiders?

They are mutually good at spider disposal. Gram always sets them free in the outside.

Who falls asleep first?

Black, discounting the coma he doesn’t get much sleep so the minute he lays down he’s out. Gram usually takes a little longer.

Who wakes up first?

Also Black, he has things to do. But he’s definitely sneakily tried to wake up Gram by being loud etc.

Who is more more relaxed/carefree?

Gram, do I need to explain this in further detail?

What’s one way their personalities compliment one another? (Is it opposites attract or are they pretty similar?)

In some ways they’re similar, their ideals are the same and they both believe in fighting for people and would protect the people they love with their lives. In every other way? Opposites. Pure ray of wholesome sunshine golden retriever boyfriend and I won’t hesitate bitch black cat boyfriend.

Who is always cold?

Neither of them jk why do you think Black’s collection of jackets is so fabulous

Which member is always trying to bring home stray animals and which member always has to say no?

Gram is always trying to bring home a stray, and Black who knows how hard it is to care for yourself let alone another creature is always telling him no. Gram tried to bring home an iguana last time, we’re not sure what will happen next.

Who worries more?

Naturally, Gram has more anxiety over day to day things than Black but for the most part he’s pretty care free. Black, having gone through everything he did worries a lot more and is more cautious. It takes a lot for him to trust someone after his parents and Todd.

What are some non-sexual activities they do together?

Literally everything. Namely toppling a corrupt business, but also mundane things like grabbing lunch, doing homework, reading, going on walks, fixing bikes, getting tattoos.

Who would be able to talk their way out of a speeding ticket?

Black. He’s had years of growing up with a judge for a parent he knows what words to say. Also he’s good at making things up. Maybe not as good as White when it comes to cover stories, but he’s pretty good. Gram is busy crying when something goes wrong.

Who is the better cook?

Black, since he moved out and cut ties with his family he had to learn to cook for himself. EXCEPT desserts which are Gram’s specialty.

What are some things they don’t agree on?

The validity of Sean’s existence (co-shared disagreement with White). Which flavor of soda is the best.

Which member is more physically affectionate?

Gram, Gram, Gram, Gram. Black may have asked for a hug in that one scene we don’t talk about, but when it comes to day to day physical affection its Gram. If Gram can bear hug Black at any point of the day he WILL.

Which member is more verbally affectionate?

They’re pretty even about verbally expressing emotion and talking about how they feel, not in front of the gang but to each other. But if Gram says it more.

How does each member feel about PDA?

Gram loves PDA as long as they feel like they’re somewhere safe. Black’s not as big of a fan. His instinct is to fight before he shows affection in public.

Who’s the safer driver?

They’re both good at driving bikes. Neither of them would classify as safe exactly.

What’s each member flirting style?

Cringe meet fail.

Which member steals borrows the other ones clothing?

They’re different sizes and fashion senses so it’s hard. Black has occasionally stolen a t-shirt of Gram’s and Gram has occasionally borrowed a jacket from Black but neither fit great. <s> neither of them cared </s> White handing Gram one of Black’s shirts to wear when they were at Gram’s apartment was Gram’s first clue that something had happened to Black.

Who is the cuddle initiator?

Gram he’s a cuddle monster.

Are they an introverted couple or an extroverted one—AKA would they prefer to go out to a party or event together or would they rather stay in?

They would rather stay in or with close friends.

Who is the big/little spoon?

Gram is the little spoon and I will die on this hill. Gram likes waking up with Black’s arms around him fully nestled in the little spoon position. He’s also a big fan of face to face cuddling because he cannot believe he’s lucky enough to date Black. Sometimes if Black needs extra comforting he will be the little spoon.

Who is more likely to make an impulsive decision and who is the voice of reason?

Heh. Reason. (Black has some reason but never uses it, Gram is Gram, and Gumpa has to hold them back by the scruff like month old kittens)

Who’s more likely to laugh at their own jokes?

Probably Gram

Who takes longer showers?

Gram. Strictly speaking they had a whole scene about how Gram wanted Black to style his hair more so Gram.

Who is “more loved” by the in-laws?

By default Black. Since Black doesn’t speak to his parents. However Gram is loved by White and that’s basically the same thing.

Who is more likely to get jealous?

On a side note, I actually did vent to one person myself, and got a response that always gives me very mixed feelings. The exact words don’t matter, but the gist was admiration. When someone praises me for being tough, strong, brave, and so forth as they find out something I am dealing with I never know how to feel.

On the one hand, it’s nice. is lovely to FINALLY have someone acknowledging to effort or pain involved. Usually I go through my days dealing with everything alone. Mostly I am judged by others for poor lawn care, a dilapidated house, looking all run down, never washing my car, or whatever superficial thing catches their eye. The fact I have so many much more urgent and difficult things to cope with that worrying about aesthetic judgements is far down the list doesn’t occur to them. Getting a bit of respect for what I manage to do, rather than condemnation for what I don’t feels like such a relief. Flattering even.

But there is another side to it. These qualities the person is giving me praise for really are mostly about having little other choice. It’s merely survival. It’s endurance that eventually can run out. There is often this under current suggesting I am somehow never going to need help, never break, never simply be weak. It is open admiration that absolves them from any need to be concerned. It places the idea in my own head that I constantly need to live up to their praise, and honestly that would be impossible. I’m just one person alone, and no matter how indestructible they think I am, I absolutely am not.

Compliments generally throw me. Even with ordinary ones, on the very rare occasions they come, I stammer a sort of thanks and denial of being worthy. But these are a different kind of compliment, and nice as it sounds when they say these things about my supposed strength, I know down deep it’s less about anything I chose to be or inherently am, and more my simply deciding to keep going rather than curling up and dying.
