Set The World On Fire
Chapter Six
Lando Norris had been incredibly angry when they met. Incredibly angry, but sweet enough to help her. Turns out he just needed somebody to talk to, somebody to be there for him.
He was easy to fall for, and that put her in a world of danger

"You need to stop taking me places in a private jet or I'm gonna get used to the princess treatment," she said with a giggle as she looked out of the window, watching the clouds go by. Below them was nothing but ocean.
Lando put his drink down. "C'mere," he said, beckoning her over.
She left her seat and walked over to him. Lando patted his suit clad thighs and she sat down on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. They hadn't been dating for long; it was the most intimate thing they had ever done.
Lando had his arms wrapped around her. "Get used to the princess treatment," he said. "That's all you're gonna get with me." He kissed her cheek as she laid her head on his chest.
That was how they sat together on their flight to Spain. "What's your sister's fiancé's name?" She asked, her hand resting over his beating heart.
"Carlos," he answered. "He's an ass."
She rolled her eyes. "I'm sure he can't be that bad, he is gonna be your brother in law, after all."
"Trust me, baby, he's the worst."
Baby. She liked that. She really liked that. "Tell me everything I need to know. Who's gonna be there? Who of your family should I expect to meet?" She asked eagerly.
Lando couldn't stop himself from smiling. It was something he had noticed, that the only time he smiled was when she was with him. There was no way he could get through the wedding without her.
"Okay, so you've got Carlos and his sister. I've only met them once, but from what I remember, they just whisper mean things between each other in Spanish. Then there is Carlos's parents, Sainz and Mrs Sainz, his wife. I'll try and keep you away from them. Everyone else? I'll introduce them as you meet them," he said, his hand moving across her thigh.
She suppressed the shiver that ran down her spine. His fingers were so soothing. "What about your family?"
Lando shook his head. "My mum is dead, my step mum is dead, and my dad is almost dead," he said, his grip on her tightening.
"Shit, Lan," she whispered, hands reaching up to run through his curls. "I'm so sorry."
"Don't apologise, I never told you," he mumbled.
His phone went off, but Lando ignored it. She kissed the top of her head and squeezed her. "Thank you for coming," he whispered. "I seriously couldn't do this without you."
It wasn't long before they touched down in the Sainz family's private hangar. It was full of other private jets, from the other families that had arrived for the wedding. Lando took her hand and led her out of the jet. There was a car waiting for them when they stepped out into the warm Spanish air.
Lando opened the door to the car for her. "Such a gentleman," she said with a grin as she climbed into the car. Lando followed her in and placed his arm over her shoulders.
Their bags were placed into the back of the car and their driver set off. The fact that they had a driver was crazy. "How do you and your sister know Carlos?" She asked, settling against his side.
It was hitting her just how little she knew about him. And with every passing moment, the number of questions she had just grew.
Lando thought on his answer. It was easy for her to assume that it had been so long since they met that he didn't remember. "Our dads did business together a few years back," he answered simply.
She let out a laugh, her body gently shaking against him. "Seriously, Lan. Who the hell are you?"
Lando squeezed her shoulder. "Have you seen Legend?"
"The movie?"
He nodded his head.
"Lando, are you telling me you're a gangster?" She asked him, unable to hide the laugh about to erupt from her lips.
"No! No, but I'm essentially Ronnie Kray," he answered.
"Ronnie Kray, the gangster that sold protection to people?"
Well, that was part of that he did. "Yeah, but I'm not a gangster and everything I do is legal."
He was a fucking mystery.
***
Lando felt incredibly guilty about leaving her in the hotel room. But Hamilton had called for a meeting and, being the representative for the Norris family, he had to attend.
"I'll be gone an hour at most," Lando said as he leaned over to kiss her.
"Lan, it's fine," she said and pulled a book from her bag. "Have fun! Don't do anything I wouldn't do!" She called.
Lando let out a laugh. That kind of high pitched shrieking laugh that she was already in love with. "I'll try not to," he said and kissed her again.
He walked out of the hotel room as she cracked open her book.
Lando couldn't hide his smile as he climbed into the car waiting for him. It was already full of other heads of family or their representatives. Lando sat himself beside Magnussen and Perez. Max Verstappen, representing the Verstappen family, sat opposite him, with Mick Schumacher beside him.
Mick was... different. He wasn't representing the Schumacher family. But his father died before he was ready to takeover the family. The Verstappens tried to take Mick and his family in, but Schumacher had a plan in place in case of his death. He didn't want Jos looking after his family, and had instead sent them to the Wolff family.
That was who Mick was representing. His name was Schumacher, but he was representing the Wolff family.
"You brought someone?" Max asked Lando as he sat down.
Lando slowly nodded his head. "Yeah, I did," he said, not elaborating further.
"Is she... aware of what's going on?" Mick asked.
Lando sucked in a breath. "No," he answered, looking at the other representatives. "She hasn't got a clue.
Max leaned forward. "Interesting," he said, wearing a little smirk. "What did you tell her?"
"She's called me a gangster, and we're gonna leave it at that."
Max sat back in his seat, hands clasped together in his lap. "Good luck with that," he said, turning his attention to the window.
It was obvious what Max was thinking. Of course it was a bad idea to take her to a mafia wedding when she had no idea what was going on. But Lando wanted her protected from that world. The less she knew, the more protected she was. She could still get out.
Perez shook his head. "Bad idea, man," he said. "I didn't tell my wife and I almost lost her."
Lando didn't answer him.
The car pulled up outside of Sainz's house. They filled out of the car, one by one. Three more cars were already outside of the house, and it was clear they were the last ones there.
Lando walked into the house with Max. Just a few years before they would have been talking and laughing like kids while their fathers worked. But now they were the ones working in their fathers steed.
"How are you holding up?" Max asked quietly as they walked through the Sainz house.
Lando let out a breath, just grateful that Max had waited until they were out of the car to ask. He looked around the Sainz house, the house he had been in just weeks before. "She's somewhere in here," he said. "I just wanna know how she is."
They walked into the Library. Several chairs were set around a table, most of them filled. In the corner of the room was a much smaller table, a chess set on it. Lando knew exactly who had set that up.
He sat down and Max sat on his right. Alonso was on his left and the other heads of family filled the table. Carlos was there, sat beside his father.
The most commanding presence at the table was Hamilton. He gave Lando a slow nod as a drink was placed in front of him.
As soon as they all had drinks, Hamilton stood, glass in his hand. "As per tradition, we are here to celebrate the union of the Sainz family and the Norris family. The trading routes between Norris and Sainz will be reopened, benefitting all of us. Lets discuss product and trading route."
Clearing his throat, Lando stood with the speech his father had prepared for him. "This decade of war between our family has affected The Norris family and it's ability to move our product into other Spain and other European countries. This union will not only help reignite our relationship with the Sainz family, but will aid in our strengthening our relationship with the Ferrari family."
He placed the cards his father had written out for him into his pocket. "I do think it's unnecessary to involve my sister in things."
Brown eyes snapped towards him. "Hijo de puta." (Motherfucker).
Having said his piece, Lando sat down. He wasn't paying much attention as other heads of families discussed what the reopening of the trading route would do for them.
After five minutes, he stood up. He wordlessly left the room, navigating his way down the hall and into the kitchen, towards the bathroom.
But somebody was already in the kitchen. The fridge door was open as somebody, dressed in most of a fine suit, pulled cold beers from the fridge. He held them in his arms, used his elbow to shut the fridge and turned around.
He nearly dropped them when he saw Lando. "Oscar!" He called.
Oscar rushed to put the beers on the table. He threw his arms around Lando and patted his back. "I didn't think I'd be seeing you until tomorrow," he said, his hand on his shoulder.
"Hamilton called a meeting," he said.
Oscar nodded, making a mental note to keep her in her room for the night.
"How is she?"
Oscar breathed deep. "She's... coping," he said. "We're gearing up for one last fun night before the wedding." He pointed back to the beers and Lando nodded his head.
"Look after her for me, yeah?"
"I will."
Lando helped Oscar place the beers into his arms and sent him on his way.
a/n: (wow i never do these, this feels weird) Sup guys! So i mentioned the Kray twins and, for those that don't know, they were london gangsters in the 1950's (check out the film legend its soooo good). It feels like a gamble putting mention of them in here and if anybody is offended, send me an ask and I'll change it! (i purposefully didn't mention Reggie for obvious reasons)

Deployment Sucks but I Swallow | Rooster x Reader

"Seriously?" Bradley muttered as he sat on his living room couch all alone with a beer in one hand and the remote in the other. This was his last night at home for the next four months, and you should have been here with him. You said you were having a late Sunday brunch with some friends and then coming home, but now it was dinnertime. He would be boarding an aircraft carrier tomorrow, Valentine's Day, at five in the morning, and he wouldn't be home until June. And yet you were still out with your friends while he stared at the enormous bouquet of roses on the coffee table that he got for you.
Every time he took a sip of his beer, the flash of his gold wedding band made him even more irritated. You'd never been like this in the past. Even before you and he got married, you would make a big fuss over him for several days leading up to his departure. He'd gotten used to that special treatment. He literally thrived when you used to run your fingers through his hair and tell him over and over again how much you were going to miss him the night before he left. And now that you weren't here in his lap, loving all over him, he was actually kind of pissed off about it.
He dug his phone out of his pocket, unlocked it, and tried his best not to be too snarky when he texted you again.
Do you think you'll be home soon?
He waited twenty-one minutes for a response as the sky outside darkened even more and his patience waned further. "You're spoiled," he admitted out loud. But it was completely all your fault, because you'd overindulged him with your love for so long that now he was pouting when you finally wrote back.
On my way! I'll pick up dinner!
He groaned. If you were going to stop for food, it would take you even longer to get here, but he hadn't made anything, because he thought you'd have been home hours ago. So he texted you back the one thing that he knew would get his irritation across.
Fine.
But even that didn't seem to do anything, because you were all smiles when you floated through the front door thirty-four minutes later with a cardboard box in one hand and a bag from his favorite takeout place in the other. And you looked to damn gorgeous, he felt his resolve slipping.
"Sorry I'm so late!" you said with a laugh. "I had such a long day."
Bradley tracked your movements from the couch with narrowed eyes. "Yeah. Me too. I thought you'd be home five hours ago."
"I completely lost track of time," you told him as your eyes settled on the roses. "Are those for me?"
"Happy Valentine's Day," he mumbled with a shrug, annoyed by the way his heart skipped a beat when you smiled at him like he was your only source of happiness in the world. But he couldn't bite his tongue as you set the box down and brought the food over to him with a smile. "What did you do after brunch? You were gone forever."
You nibbled on your lip as you ran your finger along one of the rose petals. "I was hanging out with Erika Fitch and Morgan Floyd for a little bit. We went to Erika and Reuben's house. I'm really sorry it took so long."
Bradley wanted to keep pouting and being cranky, especially since it sounded like Payback got to see more of you on Bradley's last day before deployment than he did. But when you bent to smell the flowers before dropping the takeout bag onto the table, you moaned his name softly before easing yourself down onto his lap.
"Baby," he whispered, melting into your touch as soon as your fingers were in his hair. And then your lips found his, and he wasn't sure why he'd been so upset with you. You felt perfect in his arms, and you smelled sweet.
"I love you, Bradley," you whispered, and he buried his nose against your neck and inhaled.
"You smell so fucking good," he moaned. "So sweet. Like candy. Delicious."
"Do I?" you asked coyly, raking your fingers back through his hair. "Or did you just miss me all day?"
"Baby, you know I'm spoiled," he groaned as you reached for his jeans zipper. "I wanted to spend the afternoon with you. I'm leaving tomorrow. For four months this time."
"I know. I didn't give you enough attention today, did I?" you whispered as you eased the zipper down. "I'm really, really sorry. I wanted to, but I got sidetracked making you something sweet. I always want to be with you on your last day at home."
He kissed along your neck and breathed in the incredible scent again. "You made me something sweet? You smell like something sweet. Makes me want to taste you everywhere."
Bradley could hear the smile in your voice as he licked your collarbone while you eased your hand inside his underwear and wrapped your hand around his cock. "Your dinner will get cold if you don't eat it now," you whispered.
"I don't care. I want my wife."
You moaned his name again, and that sweet scent was everywhere. "Then take me to bed, Lieutenant Bradshaw." Bradley's senses were filled with you as he carried you into the bedroom, and he swore he could smell chocolate as he undressed you. Your skin was extra sweet, and the scent clung to your hair.
"I don't know how you've made me this crazy for you," he whispered as he yanked his shirt off, "but I swear you smell like chocolate. Everywhere."
You giggled as you started to pull his jeans down, kneeling in front of him. "I know it's your favorite kind of snack."
"Incorrect," he grunted as you licked his cock before he stepped out of his pants and underwear. "My wife is my favorite kind of snack."
You took him between your parted lips and sucked on him like a lollipop before you whispered, "You're allowed dessert before dinner tonight."
Then Bradley had you underneath him in bed, your hands pinned to the pillow above your head as he licked your neck. "Next time I'm leaving, I want you with me all damn day. No brunch. No hanging with the girls."
You moaned his name as he slipped himself inside your wetness. "Anything you want. Anything."
He pressed his lips to yours as he filled you completely. "I want you."
--------------------------
Leaving the house with you at four in the morning on Monday was hard enough for Bradley, but the way you clung to him in the Bronco while he drove was making it so much worse. You had that box you brought home with you yesterday at your feet while he steered through the silent darkness.
"I'm going to miss you so much," you whispered as the aircraft carrier came into view. "Four months is such a long time."
He was just happy you got home at dinnertime last night and let him love you nonstop. He hadn't stopped touching you long enough to reheat his dinner until almost midnight, and even then, you were nearby. Right now he was exhausted, but he'd have ample time to catch up on sleep when he didn't have his perfect wife with him.
"These four months are going to suck," he whispered as he parked near the docks, happy he'd given himself extra time to hold you before he had to board the carrier. "Happy Valentine's Day, Baby." When you unbuckled your seatbelt and crawled toward his lap, he groaned. "You still smell like chocolate."
"Do I?" you whispered with a smile as you wrapped your arms around his neck.
With his nose buried in your hair, he asked, "Is it a new perfume or something? Because I definitely don't hate it."
Your soft laughter filled the interior of the Bronco as you shook your head. "No, it's not perfume. It's actually chocolate. I told you I made you something sweet."
Bradley was nibbling on your ear, his cock twitching in his khakis as your thigh pressed against his length. "What did you make?" he mumbled mindlessly, but then you were pulling away from him. He was scrambling to keep you in his lap where he wanted you, but you were leaning down to grab the box from the floor. You set it on the passenger seat and smiled at him as you reached inside.
"I made you candy bars," you said, handing him a thick piece of sweet smelling chocolate that was wrapped up in clear plastic. "Sixteen of them. One for each week that you'll be gone."
Bradley examined the candy in his hand and smiled as he looked up at you. "It says World's Best Husband on it."
"That's because you are," you told him, kissing his cheek. "Happy Valentine's Day. I'm going to miss you so much."
He was sure he was starting to blush in the predawn darkness as you handed him another one that said I'm So Sweet On You. "Oh," he whispered. "Erika and Morgan helped you make these yesterday, didn't they?"
"Yes," you told him as he tipped the box to look inside at the rest. They were all unique with white candies used for the lettering. He picked up one that said I Love Rooster and another that said Thinking About You.
"I love these, Baby. Thank you," he muttered as he kissed your chin. "I'm sorry I got snippy with you last night."
You ran your fingers through his hair just the way he liked and said, "The girls and I didn't think it would take so long to make them. I wanted to be home with you all day yesterday. I promise."
He wrapped his left arm around you and pulled you snug against him as he pulled one more candy bar out of the box. When he read it, he smirked and held it up for you to read, too. His voice was deep as he asked, "Did you really make me a candy bar that says Deployment Sucks but I Swallow? In front of the girls?"
You bit your lip and wiggled yourself around on his lap, clearly knowing what that would do to him. "Reuben and Bob saw it too. I've never seen Bob blush so much in my life."
Bradley's cock throbbed against you, somehow even more turned on by the fact that his friends knew you were thinking about sucking him dry. "Fuck," he grunted, running his thumb over the letters that spelled out his dirty Valentine's Day message. He glanced around and found that while other cars had started to arrive, it was still pretty dark outside. So he looked you in the eye with one eyebrow raised and rasped, "Why don't you prove it?"
You took the bar from him and set it back in the box with the others. "Right here?" you asked, running your hands down his khaki shirt and over his pins as you leaned in closer to him. Your lips were skimming the scars on his neck as you added, "Right now?" But he could tell you were absolutely into the idea as your fingers found his belt while you kissed your way up to his ear. "I would love to."
You were moaning softly as you opened the fly of his uniform pants and carefully pulled his hardening length free. Bradley eased the seat back as you worked your familiar hand slowly up and down his length, making him jump in anticipation as he kissed your lips. Another car parked directly across from him, and you were illuminated by headlights as you moved the box from the seat back to the floor and ducked down.
"Fuck," he grunted, tucking his hands behind his head as the headlights went out and your lips met his cock. "God, you're such a good girl." You were stretched across the seat on your belly, and he could already tell you were going to take your time, just like he wanted. There was a full thirty minutes left with you after all. The Bronco smelled like chocolate, and your mouth was warm around him as he whispered, "Nice and slow."
You moaned in agreement, nodding your head as you took him deeper and deeper. Bradley's head tipped back as he inhaled and exhaled slowly. You dragged your thumb down gently between his balls as he tapped the back of your throat, and you held him in place for a few beats. Now he was starting to doubt that he could last as long as he wanted to when you felt this incredible. He felt you gag softly as you started to ease back, and he could see stars at the edges of his vision.
"Holy shit."
When you withdrew him, he could feel your saliva dripping down his length onto his pants. You licked at his tip and rubbed soft circles along his balls with your fingertips. You knew just how he wanted it, and he was like melted chocolate in your capable hands and mouth.
When you popped him free, your voice was soft and needy. "You better think of this when you eat that candy bar," you whispered, glancing up at him as his length rubbed your cheek.
Bradley let one hand drift down to the back of your neck. "I always think about you, but I'll be thinking about this on replay, Baby. Sweet chocolate and blowjobs from my wife."
You giggled as you took him between your lips again, and the soft vibrations had him thrusting up for more. His fingers were digging into your neck a little bit as he tried to get control of himself while you bobbed. Someone walked past the Bronco as he moaned, but he literally couldn't care less. The back of your head had never looked so appealing before as you got sloppier, every thrust met with wet sounds that only made him throb.
He was gripping his own hair now as well while you pushed his hips back against the seat. "Baby," he whined as you treated him to the swirl of your tongue at the base of his cock. "I'm gonna miss you."
You nodded and moaned again, and Bradley reached out to grip the steering wheel in an effort to keep himself still while you worked your magic. With every tap of his cock against the back of your throat, his balls tightened until it was almost painful. "No, no, no," he whispered. "Not yet."
You responded by slowing your pace incrementally, dragging your lips along his full length and sucking until he popped free. "But you taste so good," you whispered up at him with a grin. "I want you to come in my mouth."
He shook his head, mesmerized by you as you nuzzled your face against his cock and balls. "Jesus," he groaned, reaching for the back of your head and stroking your hair. "You wanna taste me?"
"Mmhmm," you hummed loudly in the small space as he shoved his cock between your lips.
"You better swallow it all down," he grunted. "Just like you promised."
With your hands wrapped around his base, you squeezed him gently, sucking just right as you ran your tongue back and forth. He was grunting unintelligibly, hips jerking off the seat slightly as his head fell back against the headrest.
"That's my girl. That's my girl," he whined, doing his best to keep his hand gentle against your head as you took him right up to his orgasm. Then you removed your hands, and as soon as you took him deep, your lips brushing his pubic hair and his balls, he came. "Baby!" he moaned, thrusting gently as you sputtered. He didn't want you to waste it. He wanted you to get every single drop.
Bradley tipped his head forward and watched you swallow him down as you made sweet little sounds, the smell of the chocolate bars still in the air. You licked around his tip and cleaned him up as your gaze met his, and Bradley whispered, "I love you so much," as he caught his breath.
"I love you, too," you promised him as he pulled you back up to sit on his lap. Bradley tasted his cum in your mouth when he kissed you and cradled you against his body. "I'll miss you like crazy, and I'll be living for your calls. And I can't wait to spoil you when you get home again."
You kissed him all over his face as he whispered, "I love how much you've spoiled me. I'll be thinking about you nonstop, Baby."
A few minutes later, Bradley wiped away your tears and kissed your cheeks one last time before he boarded the aircraft carrier, and he watched you disappear into the distance with the dock as the sun rose behind you. He had one candy bar for every week he'd be away from you, and he couldn't wait to read the rest of them once he got to his bunk.
----------------------------
You were waiting very impatiently on the dock for your husband to join you on dry land once again. Your palms were sweating as you held onto two candy bars all wrapped up in plastic, hoping they wouldn't melt too badly. You texted him to let him know where you were standing, and now you just had to wait. And wait. You'd already gone four months without him, so this was just cruel.
Every facetime call had been the highlight of your week while he was away. Bradley had been sure to tell you which candy bar he'd enjoyed that week, laughing about what you'd written on all of them. One time, he even ate the bar that said Hottest Guy in the Navy on it while he talked to you.
You couldn't wait to take him home and spend days catching up with everything you and he had missed while you were apart. But first you needed to be in his arms. Then you heard him calling your name, and you almost dropped the candy bars as your husband made his way toward you.
"Bradley!" you shouted, and then you were in his arms, and his lips were on yours. You wrapped your arms around his neck, careful not to drop his treats. "I missed you!"
"I love you, Baby," he rasped, kissing his way back to your ear. "How the hell do you still smell like chocolate?" he asked, and you erupted into giggles.
"Because I made you more candy bars," you told him as you found his lips with yours again.
He kissed you until you were breathless, and then he pressed his nose to your cheek as he said, "I'm so damn spoiled. What did you make for me this time?" You smiled and held up the two candy bars, and he read them out loud. "I still suck.... Want me to prove it?"
Bradley's brown eyes went wide, and his crooked grin left you giddy. "Well?" you asked. "Should we go home so you can find out for sure?"
"Hell yes," he whined, hauling you and his bag and the candy toward the parking lot. "My deployment sucked, but you suck so much better, Baby."

Hello! I'm new to slick sunday, and the fandom entirely honestly, but I had been rewatching s2 and had a fic thought about Steve hiding his omega designation like his parents demanded with scent blockers and heat suppressants, but after getting his face beat in by Billy, he just...immediately hops into a tunnel of absolute nastiness with absolutely nothing properly covering all his cuts/wounds, so what if he gets an infection?
He ignores it after because of course he does, but the injuries get swollen, warm/red, and painful to the touch and he keeps feeling so sick so he takes himself to the hospital and they immediately take care of his injuries - scolding him because he couldve become septic, and then place him on a combo of antibiotics and steroids to assist. Course, he's told his scent blockers cant be taken due to contraindications with the treatment medications and how they could potentially harm him or make things worse.
Steve is then told by his pharmacist to be aware the heat suppressants may lose their effectiveness while on his antibiotics and so Steve tries to get ahold of his parents so he can stay at home away from people. They never answer or return his calls so he's forced to school monday morning as an omega.
The plot twist, Eddie has known his secret because they were best friends growing up always meeting at the park between their house. Eddie was a year older and presented as an alpha. Steve presented a year later almost down to the minute. Eddie comforted and scented him as he helped walk him home through the pain. Steve's father took one look at them and blamed Eddie for tainting his son - the senior Harrington believing the conspiracy theory that babying boys before presentation makes them omegas which is why Steve was never coddled at least not by him or his wife - but now he has a face to place on the alpha he keeps smelling on his son and blames him immediately threatening him (and Steve) if he doesnt stay away from his son so Eddie remains away.
So when Eddie catches Steves scent in the hallways, he immediately follows to find him and hes confused as hell cause wtf??? Steve had still found him a few days after his presentation to apologize profusely and Eddie had simply hugged him tight and said he'd see him around eventually. Steve spots him coming up to him and just breaks down because Eddies scent still reminded him of safety. Eddie walks him out to his van once the bell rings and they spend until lunch in there as Steve explains parts and is able to mentally prepare better and calm down.
I dont really have things planned out after this, but yeah i wanted to share and see everyones thoughts on it! 🥺 i know a lot of the fandom likes doing the hiding designation thing, but i do agree with the fandom that the Harringtons would force it highly encourage it lol
first of all, welcome to the fandom and slick sunday, we’re so happy to have you!!💛
secondly, our poor baby stevie😭 having to stay away from the alpha who makes him feel safe… i just know eddie would take such good care of him after that though!!

Adoption -Rafe Cameron
Warning: Ovulation disorder (Not being able to get pregnant), Fluff, English isn’t my first language
Summary: Since you weren’t able to get pregnant, Rafe came up with an idea and now you couldn’t be happier
Pairing: Rafe Cameron x Wife!Reader
Tumblr media
You had always loved children. Ever since you started babysitting at the age of 14, you looked forward to the day were you give birth to your own children.
You wanted to provide your child with all the love and opportunities you could. You had a loving husband, a beautiful home, and a good job, so it seemed like the perfect time to have children. However, things didn't go as planned.
One year ago, you and Rafe began trying for a baby. After some time of unsuccessful attempts, you decided to visit your gynecologist for an evaluation. Although you knew that getting pregnant may take some time, you had a sense that something might be wrong.
“I am sorry Mrs. Cameron,” The doctor said, looking at the test results, “But it seems like you have an ovulation disorder.”
“W-what does that mean?” You gulped, already feeling the tears in your eyes.
“I am sorry, but you will not be able to get pregnant anytime soon.” He explained, his face filled with sorrow.
You felt your world crumble around you. Your greatest desire was to become a mother, but it seemed as though fate had other plans.
“Will I ever be able to?” You asked him, tears now streaming down your face.
“There are different treatment options, but the chances are not high for you.” He told you honestly.
The last year you tried everything your doctor had recommend. Medications, lifestyle changes and a hormone replacement therapy. Still, you weren’t pregnant and the feeling of emptiness ate you alive.
Rafe supported you through everything, but it made you feel even more upset that you couldn't give him a child he wanted just as much as you did.
"How did your treatment go today?" your husband asked as he kissed your forehead.
“Unsuccessful. Rafe, I can’t do this anymore,” You mumbled and he nodded in an understanding way.
“It’s alright, my love. I know the past year has been difficult for you, and I noticed how much you suffered.” He kissed you tenderly.
"I really wanted to have a baby and make you a dad, Rafe. I'm sorry I couldn't." You whispered, staring at the white wall in front of you.
“No, no, don’t do this. It’s not your fault. And maybe I have a solution to our problem,” he said with a smile.
You frowned at him, “You find yourself another wife?”
He shook his head “Course not, you are the only woman I could ever love.”
You smiled a little and kissed him.
"I was thinking about adoption. We could provide a loving home for a child who needs it," he suggested, waiting for your response.
Adoption? You never thought about it before. The child may not be biologically yours, but you could still be its mother and Rafe could be its father. You could provide all the love and care that a baby needs. You would support the child in every decision, attend all their school events, and throw the most amazing birthday parties anyone has ever seen.
A big smile appeared on your face and Rafe immediately knew that adoption would be the solution to all your problems.
————
"Come on, Lily. Let's get you changed," you say with a smile, looking at the two-year-old girl in front of you.
She clapped her hands as giggles filled the room.
You and Rafe adopted Lily almost a year ago. Somehow she resembled both Rafe and you, having blue eyes like him and your hair color. Nevertheless, even if she didn't resemble either of you, it wouldn't change how much you loved her.
Lily was an angle, quite a shy child but after she saw people a few times she warmed up to them.
Today the three of you decided to go to the beach. You held two bathing suits in front of her, “What do you say, sweetie, pink or blue?”
“Bwu,” She smiled, her growing teeth showing.
She was adorable and you couldn’t be happier to be her mother.
You helped her into her bathing suit before picking her up and walking downstairs, where Rafe was already waiting.
“Dada!” She shouted, making grabby hands towards him.
“Well, look at you. Such a cute bathing suit.” He smiled, taking her out of your arms.
You couldn't believe how happy you finally were. Maybe you didn't carry Lily for nine months, but you and Rafe were certainly made to be her parents.

-Since words are not enough to explain how much I love you, let me show you- Part 3
Part 1 Part 2
Tumblr media
Pairing:Melissa Schemmenti x Reader
Gender:Fluff, soft
Warnings:none I think
Summary:Months after celebrating your wedding anniversary, Mel has a baby fever when she sees you holding a child in your arms. After trying for a few months, the treatment has a result and the Abbott's family gets bigger.
The room was spinning around you, the four walls of the bathroom were shrinking around you, you were short of breath, and your whole body was shaking. You had thought about calling your wife, but you didn't want to see her disappointed like last time, so you decided to do it alone. How could it be that your future depended on a plastic cup with pee on it and a stick inside it? The bell had already sounded, indicating that the children would already be in the classrooms, but the 3 minutes of the test were not yet up and you needed to know. The 3 months of treatment had already passed and Mel and you had done several pregnancy tests and none were positive. But today it felt different, you felt different, you also kept in mind that you said that the previous times, but it really felt different this time; and even though your doctor's visit would be at the end of that week, you needed to know now.
Your cell phone alarm went off and with trembling hands you looked at the mark of the 3 pregnancy tests you had put in the disposable cup. All three clearly marked two red lines, they were positive, the treatment had worked, and you were pregnant, you couldn't believe it. Your mind started to travel a thousand miles an hour, you didn't know what to do, did you throw away the tests? How would you say to Mel? How would you bear not to tell her until you get home? Mel would surely realize that something was wrong, she knew you too well. How would you concentrate to teach your class now?
You were pacing around the bathroom until your cell phone lit up with a message from your wife
-🔥Jessica Rabbit🔥:"Amore? Where are you? Are you okay? One of your students came to my classroom because you still haven't come to your classroom. Did something happen?"-
With trembling hands you grabbed your cell phone, you wanted to send her a message, but on accident you called her and she answered before you could hang up the call
-"Hi love, are you okay?"- Your wife asked, her fear could be heard in her voice
-"I... I'm fine... I was in the bathroom, you know how horrible are my nausea after eating..."-You commented in a trembling voice, you weren't good at lying to her. Why you were afraid to tell her or for her to find out? This was what you were both looking for, what you both wanted.
-"Need more time? I can take care of your students..."-Your wife proposed and you sighed, you didn't know why you suddenly felt like crying
-"I need you... Please... Can you come to the teachers bathroom? Please I need you" - You pleaded and your voice broke. Your frightened wife got up quickly, let Barbara and Janine know if they could see the kids, and ran with you, not hanging up the call.
When she got to the bathroom, she gently knocked on the door listening to your faint response from the other side to get her in. She barely managed to close the door that you were already on top of her, hugging her tightly and taking a little of air out of her, her arms wrapped around you carefully and protectively.
-"What happened? Are you okay? Do you need anything?" - Your wife asked trying to see your face but you just hid in her neck-"Love, please speak to me"
-"I...I love you"-You whispered on her neck and she hugged you more but a little confused
-"I love you too... But why are you crying?"-She whispered, still worried
-"Remember that time we went to church when we visited your family, and they read something that said, 'If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains'?"- You whispered looking into her eyes and she nodded more confused than ever, not knowing where this was going, but she was worried about seeing your red eyes-"Then we looked up how big a mustard seed was and it was very small, smaller than our fingerprints, but from that seed grew a big, strong tree..."-You took Mel's hand and rested it on your stomach-"Well... Our baby is the size of a mustard seed right now, but they will grow up to be big and strong, like their moms" - You whispered with a big smile and Melissa looked at you very surprised, her eyes filled with tears
-"Are you sure?" - She asked in a trembling voice and you nodded showing her the 3 positive tests. The redhead said something in Italian that you couldn't quite understand and picked you up, hugging and kissing you with great joy. You laughed on her lips and hugged her, feeling her tears wet your cheeks. When you thought that Mel's love for you couldn't grow any more, you saw it right there, you saw it in her eyes, how they shone, with the adoration they looked at you, it was as if her heart had enlarged just so she could give more love to you and the baby. One of her soft hands lifted your blouse and touched your abdomen, she smiled and closed her eyes, causing a couple of tears to fall but her smile only grew bigger and bigger. You knew in that moment that Mel would be a perfect mother.
At the end of the week the doctor reaffirmed the beautiful news and your wife couldn't get over the excitement.
Weeks later, you informed Ava of the news, so that she could process your pregnancy leave, and then you decided to tell the rest of your coworkers before Ava ruined the surprise.
One morning, while everyone was eating breakfast, you arrived with a box of donuts from everyone's favorite place and left it on the table smiling
-"Good day beautiful people, we brought you a gift for you to enjoy"-You said and they all smiled thanking you, but when they opened the box, the room went silent, until Janine left out a high scream of excitement and Barbara came to hug you both.
The box said "eat folks, my mommy can't be the only one with a belly", next to a photo of the most recent ultrasound scan. Everyone congratulated you with great joy hugging mostly you and not that much to your wife, she would be a mother but she was still very scary. Mel from that moment on set some rules, such as that they could not touch your belly without first asking, and that when she was not present they should take care of you. You just laughed even though you knew your wife meant it.
You also told the children in your classroom the special news with a small game, you taught them how to write in morse code and gave them a small piece of paper to guess what it said, that kept them entertained for a while and when they saw that the note said "Miss (Y/L/N) is going to have a baby" they all went crazy with excitement and made a grup hug with you.
From the moment your colleagues at Abbott found out you were pregnant, they had become more protective than when you had told them you started fertilization treatment. Everyone took care of you in their own way.
Also, your cravings were the weirdest and grossest thing in the world, which matched the way Janine "cooked" her lunches. So every time she took out her tupperware of food, the disgusting aroma radiating from them made you want to eat it. Your wife was offended at first when she saw that you were preferring Janine's food over hers, but when she read in the pregnancy book that pregnant women preferred to eat certain things because they lacked iron or sugar, she understood that there were days when you preferred Janine's food because your iron was low and sure that in some of Janine's meals you could find a piece of spoon or a key that she put in to give it more "flavor". On the other hand, Mel prepared food for Janine just in case you wanted it hers, which made the youngest very happy because she was eating well for the first time in her life.
Jacob would always bring you home remedies or recipes he had practiced to help you with nausea, some helped and some just made you want to vomit more.
Gregory gave you several sets of legos for when the baby is older and flowers to decorate the house.
Ava joined everyone else and every once in a while she would give you very fashionable and tiny clothes for the baby.
Barbara shared her pregnancy experience with you and gave you very useful advice, as well as always checking on you that you were okay.
Mr. Johnson always made sure that the bathroom in your classroom was always nice and smelled good so you wouldn't feel like throwing up.
Even the children took care of you, every time you dropped something they picked it up and gave it to you so that you wouldn't make any effort.
Melissa was a different case, she had gone crazy with the arrival of the baby, she always came home with some new clothes, book or toy for the baby. You didn't even know what it was going to be yet, but you already had the wardrobe complete thanks to her. Also together you painted the room and assembled the crib, as well as a chair to cradle the baby. Your wife was also knitting clothes for the baby, and cooking every craving you had. At night she would spend at least half an hour every night talking to the baby before going to sleep, and when you slept, she would hug you very carefully caressing your belly, which had already grown quite a bit thanks to time.
Mel was loving every second of the pregnancy, especially seeing how your body changed, how your breasts grew and how your hips widened. She also loved feeling the baby kick or listening to the baby's heartbeat, so much so that she had it saved on her cell phone.
When it was time to find out the sex of the baby, your co-workers asked if you could tell the doctor to write it down so they could throw a party to find out the baby's gender. Melissa didn't want to at first, but you convinced her and she agreed.
The party was beautiful, they asked the guests that if they thought it was a girl to bring diapers and if it was a boy, to bring wet wipes, so at the end of the party they would give it to you to help you with some useful things.
The party was full of food and snacks, they played games like putting the pacifier on the baby with your eyes blindfolded, say it with mimic (babie edition) , guessing the size of your belly (that one was won by Melissa since she always had her hands on you), finishing a bottle of milk without hands, who guessed the lullaby by clues, and many more. Almost every game triggered a competition between the Schemmenti sisters.
When it came to guessing the baby's gender, they brought a piñata in the shape of a bottle and gave Mel a bat, which made her very happy. Once she tore it up, pink papers jumped all over the place, announcing that it would be a girl, which you and your wife celebrated a lot.
You two also announced that her name would be Isabella and you asked Barbara if she wanted to be the baby's Godmother, which made her cry and she accepted immediately.
At first your pregnancy seemed eternal, because of how heavy and big your belly was and how uncomfortable it was. But before you could think about it any more, your pregnancy leave arrived and finally the day of delivery was here.
Your birth was simple, it was by c-section, so you didn't feel so much pain thanks to the anesthesia, and your wife was with you at all times, squeezing your hand so tightly that you were afraid she would break your fingers. Barbara, Melissa's sister and the others were in the waiting room supporting you and waiting for some news.
Your little Isabella was born healthy, as soon as she was handed to you you counted all her little fingers and smiled when you saw that she had the same eye color as Mel. The little girl looked sleepy and snuggled into your chest while you caressed her back. Your wife adjusted your hair a little and kissed your forehead, thanking you for being such a strong woman and repeating how happy you made her and how much she loved you, and then she saw your little girl unable to help crying. Without a doubt, that was the happiest moment of both of your lives.
After a while, the others came in with balloons to meet little Bella.
After the birth, for a couple of weeks, Mel was with you at home, and although having a newborn was complicated, your wife helped you a lot and the two of you were able to enjoy a little paradise with the little baby.
When Mel finally had to go back to work, you decided to go visit her and your colleagues at Abbott. As soon as you entered the teacher's room, everyone greeted you with excitement fighting to see who got to hold Bella first, while she watched very attentively as everyone talked
-"I'm her godmother, I want to hold her first, I've hadn't had a baby in my arms for so long..."-Barbara murmured, and you handed it to her carefully. As soon as you let go, Barbara sniffed her little head and smiled, Mel stood behind you and hugged you, resting her head on your shoulder.
-"I want to hold her up after Barbara" - Janine commented excitedly and Ava laughed
-"I don't know if Janine is going to hold the baby or if the baby is going to hold her, they're about the same height" - Ava joked and then walked over to the baby and Barbara-"I want to hold her too" - She whispered, smiling as she watched the baby grab her finger.
Your wife kissed your cheek and continued to watch as everyone talked to little Bella, suddenly your family had grown much more than for the baby's arrival, all your friends were now uncles and guardians of the little girl, now they were all officially part of the family.

When Jack came home, you were sitting on the couch strolling through your Instagram not even throwing a glance his way. He walks in and smiles when he sees you. “Hey babe, it was a good day at the studio, got a lot done but I missed you though.” He said with a huge smile on his face as he walked up to you going to kiss your lips but you moved your head slightly so that his lips met your cheek.
“What was that?” He questioned but you just ignored him and kept scrolling through your phone. You were pissed and you had every right to be, today was your wedding anniversary and you thought to make it special by cooking his favorite food and setting up his favorite lingerie that he could take off of you later but he forgot. You tried giving him the benefit of the doubt like maybe his phone stopped working but he texted you earlier asking you to send a picture of the cologne he regularly used.
You knew he would be busy with his album, and you were fine with that, you supported him every step of the way but you never expected him to forget an important day like this, you treasured this day so much, the day you married your high school sweetheart so him forgetting made you feel hurt, you’d have been happy if he just sent a text, it was the thought that count.
“So you not gon tell me why you’re acting weird?” Jack was getting quite annoyed at being ignored especially when he came home early to be with you since he missed you throughout the day, you were the only thing on his mind when he was at the studio so for you to be acting this way towards him was crazy. You simply rolled your eyes and got up and walked past him, bumping his shoulder as you walked to the dining table and picked up the plates of food that were now cold, and made your way to the kitchen to wrap them with saran wrap.
Jack wondered what he could’ve done to make you this mad at him but he came up empty. What he did know was he wasn’t going to let you go to bed angry. “Babe, please tell me what’s wrong so I can fix it,” he spoke softly as he walked into the kitchen, watching you put the food in the fridge. You ignored him again and were about to make your way to the bedroom but Jack immediately got in front of you, stopping you from taking another step. “Nuh-uh, you know we don’t do silent treatment and no going to sleep angry at each other,” he says as he looks down at you.
“Jackman move out of my way,” you said as you got annoyed with him being in your presence, not wanting to look into his eyes knowing if you do, you would give in like you always did. Jack was surprised by the use of his first name since you always called him ‘babe’ or ‘baby’. “Not until you tell me what's going on.”
“Do you know what today is? Why don’t you check the date!” You yelled as you stepped back putting some distance between you and him. You watched him pull out his phone with a quizzical look on his face and when he sees the date, you turn your back towards him not wanting to make eye contact since you might start crying at any moment. “Baby… I’m so sorry, I thought it was tomorrow, I swear I have everything planned,” you stayed silent and he came closer, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you closer to him and that’s all it took for the tears to roll down your cheeks and he started rocking you back and forth.
“You know I love you right?” He says soothingly as he starts tracing shapes on your stomach, you nod your head silently and lean more into his touch. “I promise you, I thought the 25th was tomorrow and had everything ready for us to celebrate,”
“It wouldn’t hurt you to start checking your calendar on your phone,” your response makes him chuckle. “Yes, I’ll be more up to date from now on, can we start over our anniversary for tomorrow, trust me you gon love what I have planned.”
You turn around in his arms and look into his blue eyes. “Yes we can, I’m sorry I was mean to you,” he shakes his head. “Don’t apologize, I deserved it, I love you,” he rubs your arm a bit. “I love you too, babe,” he connects his lips with yours, holding you close to him not letting you go, come tomorrow he will make it all up to you.

×Cough-cough×, this is going to be a lot of text, but it's vital that I get answers to these questions(even if it's in a short format, I really need to know that urgently and just now, I'm not kidding). I beg you to answer, your art makes me live, the main AU is absolutely beautiful, please that's all I need 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Questions about the system and the war: Who and where did Spencer work during the war? Do his epaulettes indicate any rank? If so, what opportunities did their ranks give engines? Does he now know that Alice has had a sex change, does he wish her and the baby back? After all, legally Edward still belongs to the duke or his old road if Alice illegally escaped…or how does that work? What would happen if Edward was once again owned by Spencer and the duke?
Questions about Spencer and Alice: Was the decision to have a child a mutual decision, or did Spencer insist on it? Or did they both not want to, but were forced by military department? Did Spencer beat Alice during her pregnancy? Was there any reason for Alice(last straw) to finally decide to run away? What made Spencer so evil/aggressive and why did he beat Alice at all, why? What motivated him? So because person can't just beat up another person just because him feel like it 🤔 Also, did/still does Spencer drink alcohol? Why? How did the duke himself feel about Alice's escape? Did he not even try to look for the steam train he paid money for? Was punishment or double work awaiting Spencer afterwards? After all these accidents, did Spencer ever go to Sodor and did he see Thomas? What is his relationship with the duke? And does the duke have a wife as well?
Questions about Thomas and Topham: Did Charles Hat have any problems with acquiring Edward and the authorities(since rowdy Eddie could do all sorts of illegal shit)? What kind of person was Thomas brought up to be? How would Spencer raise Thomas if he got him? And does Spencer still need a Thomas if he was glad to have an heir?
This many questions is very cheeky of me, however I can't handle the desire and necessity to know more about your main AU 😭😭😭😭💕💕💕 (And yes, how does James know Russian???? That's so cute! I'm from Russia, and I know russian, but why did he learn that language? o^O)
OH WOW THE DEDICATION AHAHA, Sure I'll answer them all numerically 🩵
1. They're not necessarily soldiers, but also tools of war, Spencer was the engine that pulls high ranking officers, used for his speed, while Alice is both a transport engine that doubles as a medic. What role they're given also has it benefits, Spencer was given a special treatment while Alice is treated like everyone else.
2. He doesn't know Alice had a sex change, he does wish deep down under that layer of Arrogance his baby and wife would be back, but mostly Alice running away from him made him the laughing stock of the gresleys, it fueled his desperation more.
3. Since Alice illegally escaped, they still own her, but that's a story for another day, that has it whole arc I'm planning to make 😄, if Edward is owned again by the duke, then he'll have to leave the railway and become a private engine.
4. Spencer insists, a-lot of forcing too from her old railway, yes Spencer beats and emotionally manipulated her, he wasn't even present in Thomas's birth.
5. The last straw for her is when Spencer agreed for them to be bought by the Duke without her consent.
6. Spencer picked her because she was the most beautiful, but quickly saw her as a nuisance, she was shy and quiet, he didn't like how she wouldn't listen to him sometimes, what started as Spencer dragging her into things became a manipulative and abusive cycle, and it became a customary thing for Spencer, he thinks that's the only way he should treat Alice.
7. The Duke in this era felt angered, he deemed the engine was rebellious (this was in the era where women doesn't really have rights yet) there were a search warrant for her for months to no avail, and he chose to leave with Spencer, there's not extra work for him, but to be able to withstand his current work, the Duke upgraded his class through an experiment.
8. He did come to sodor, I do have an arc awaiting for that :3, his relationship with the current duke is like in the show, neutral, and yes the duke has a wife.
9. Sir Charles treated him with specialty, always excusing his antics like a father excusing his child for hitting someone, "they're just kids" mentality, He never had to face the Authorities because Edward never gets caught.
10. They raised Thomas as someone responsible and Diligent, although he is cheeky, if Spencer raised him he would laze around and be snobby, He doesn't need an heir, but he would want Thomas to be back just to save his family reputation.
11. James learned many languages because Indonesia at the time was a network of spice trading, alot of foreigners and people with different backgrounds (although there were an era of colonizations), I do feel like he would learn different languages just so he can know more about them. :D
Awwww thank you so much for the Questions! I'm happy someone liked my AU🩵🥰

no bc imagine if harry gave you the chance to listen to the album early but you declined bc it was definitely worth the wait and he watches you react to every single song, including matilda 😭
Tumblr media
"Peeeeach" Harry sang softly in your ear. You groaned with your eyes shut, softly peeking your eye open and seeing it was dark out.
"Did you really wake me up at night? at bedtime?" You sat up and checked your phone, seeing it was 940pm, on May 19th. "Harry's House at midnight!"
"That's why I woke you up" He showed you his phone, and it was all the songs on the album. "You can listen to the album early, before anyone else" He says with a smile, and you shake your head.
"No, Harry! I want to enjoy it when everyone else does, just because I'm your wife, doesn't mean I get special treatment"
"I've been with you for 3 years, married for one. You will forever get special treatment" He kisses you slowly and taps your butt before leaving the room.
For the time leading up to midnight, Harry kept taunting you, humming unfamiliar tunes that were on the new album. Finally, 12am hit and you jumped off the bed, Harry walking in the room and you jumped on him, Harry holding you with one arm as he set the the glasses and champagne on the dresser. He holds your ass with his right hand, and rubs your back as you kiss him over and over again.
"I'm so proud of you, forever and ever" You smile and he hoists you up, kissing you.
"I love you, peach" He threw you on the bed and you laugh, rolling over and connecting your phone to the speaker, Harry playing drums on your butt. "Let's listen to 'Harry's House!'" He poured two glasses of champagne and handed you one, clinking the glasses together and you turn around to hit play, gasping at the funky beat that started to play and you turned it all the way up.
"Oh we're scatting now!" You say and Harry giggled, spinning you around. You swayed your hips to the music, applauding Harry after every song ended. You finally got to 'Matila' and Harry pause the guitar strumming and he sat you on the bed.
"This next song, I basically wrote for you. Just.. just listen" He hit play and placed his hand on your thigh, rubbing his thumb over your skin. You stared at the wall, listening to the lyrics as tears streamed down your face. You looked at Harry as he sang, 'you can start a family who will always show you love' and you smiled.
"Harry I'm pregnant" You blurted out and his face drops, pausing the song.
"But.. the champagne" I smirk and hold his face.
"I kept pouring it into your glass. That's why you're so tipsy" You giggle and a smile paints his face, tackling you to the bed and kissing you all over your face.
"A baby! Our own family!" He cheers and you laugh. The song changed to 'Cinema' and you got up to dance, swaying your hips. You stopped moving and dropped your jaw as Harry sang. 'If you're getting yourself wet for me, I guess you're all mine' and you straddle his waist, holding his jaw.
"Harry Edward! What a dirty mind.." You smile into his mouth and he pushes his mouth up to kiss you, letting out a frustrated sigh.
"What? Just singing from experience, peach" He whispers against your mouth and grabs your neck, kissing you deeply and pushing you to the bed while pressing his hips against yours.

the binky garden (the binky fairy pt 2)
summary: part two of the binky fairy. "Steve tries to make it up to y/n but we aren’t letting up so easily and gives the silent treatment bc they were supposed to be a team but doesn’t let up for like a couple hours or until the next day and then just fluff ? Idk if that even makes sense" +

After an hour or so working in his office, Steve heads to bed.
The moment he becomes in close proximity to the bed, his eyes fall on your sleeping figure, and the alarms in his head go off. His wife is facing away from his side of the bed. He noticed the wrinkle between your pinched eyebrows. That’s never a good sign. She went to bed simmering.
Most nights, you and he cuddle face-to-face every night. His palm would spoon the back of your head, as you rested your head on his chest, and their legs tangled together. As long as you were close to each other, you both were happy.
Steve sighs, strips off his shirt and sweatpants. Leaving him in his underwear for the night. He knows his wife in and out, and he couldn’t blame her stubbornness on this. He had fucked up exponentially and all on his own account.
Once he’s set his watch, signet ring, and wedding ring on the matching dish y/n had made years ago. He’s able to relax under the soft duvet, his body is able to finally relax when it hits the luxurious, plush mattress. Then, he’s rolling over to cuddle his girl. He's as close as he can get. With his arm thrown over your waist and his nose pressed against the back of your neck.
“Just because I am allowing you to cuddle with me doesn’t mean I'm no longer upset,” you mumble sleepily.
“What?” Steve utters, propping his body up with his elbow.
“You heard me,” you say sleepily.
“Fine.” Steve replied curtly. He repositions himself, before placing a kiss to your cheek.
“Don’t push it,” you tell him, bringing a hand to push his face back.
Not only does it hurt, but it fucking sucks. He doesn’t enjoy the fact that you’re so upset over this. Not even allowing a pert kiss on the cheek. But he loves you just as much as he respects you.
What he hates most of all is how you wouldn’t look at him as you spoke, let alone open your eyes, as you feigned sleep.
This was going to be one long, tortuous night.
-
The next morning, you wake up alone in bed. Fortunately, you can’t help but think. It gives you the chance to avoid the elephant in the room a bit longer.
You get yourself ready for the day. Your stomach in turns to be honest. You didn’t like fighting with Steve. You absolutely hated it. And unlike most, you could say it didn’t happen often between you two.
Nonetheless, you’re finally ready for the day. You walk down the extravagant staircase in mom jeans, sneakers, and one of Steve’s tee shirts (ironically enough).
Elysia sits in her highchair. Her hair is in bunnies as she shrieks along to the Frozen soundtrack playing from Steve’s phone.
Steve stands in the kitchen, cutting an apple for Elysia.
You walk up to Elysia, hand cupping her cheek.
“Good morning, baby.”
You go to kiss her plump cheek, only to be met with a whine from your little one. Elysia shakes her head, pouts, and crosses her arms over her chest.
“No! Mean mommy. Take away my binky,” she spouts, eyes closed as she looks away.
You stood to your full height, mouth dropped in surprise. Your eyes tie to Steve’s distraught, surprised ones for a millisecond, before you turn back to the pouting (age)
You know your toddler has the dramatics of a soap opera. This wasn’t a small spiff of you having her use the potty in the morning, even though she didn’t want to. She truly was cross with you. In her eyes, you had taken a treasured item from her. This is exactly what you didn’t want to happen.
“Honey, don’t you remember what we talked about? The fairies need them for the smaller babies who don’t have one.”
She keeps her pout, but you watch her resolve begin to break when she finally decides to face you.
“I miss my binky.” she says solemnly, looking up at you with those big eyes. Eyes Steve could never hold out against.
You know exactly what she’s doing, but you won’t fall for it and give in. As much as you want to pinch her cheeks and pop her binky into her mouth, you don’t.
You sigh, “Did I ever tell you about the really nice gifts the binky fairy leaves?”
She shakes her head with wide, eager eyes. Just waiting for you to spit it out!
-
Even though you had slowly broken Elysia’s resolve. The day continued with Elysia being slightly short with you. She didn’t prefer you to hold her, didn’t want you to feed her, and god forbid you try and play with her. She wouldn’t allow it without the promise of getting her binky back. For a two-year-old, she knew exactly how to play her cards.
It wasn't until a few hours later that Elysia toddles to you, her tail between her legs as she apologized. Or tries to, as the three of you have been working on it for a while. You know it’s for sure Steve's doing.
In addition to Elyisa’s newfound attitude grew the tension between you and Steve. He was feeling guilty over the whole thing, and you didn’t feel any amount of remorse in that.
At one point in the afternoon, you roll your eyes walking past the white roses spread about your bedroom. And two purses you’ve been eyeing for a while sitting pretty on your side of the bed. A lovely note attached to them.
Currently, you’ve made your way to the kitchen and are rummaging through the fridge for you cranberry brie bites.
Elysia was down for her nap so this would be the perfect time to go for the kill. Steve shadows over your hunched figure as you look for something in the fridge. His hand caressing your hip as he tried to get your attention.
“Doll” his voice tender as he says your name. There’s a hint of desperation in his voice, you note.
You ignore him, continuing your search for the brie. Naturally, you can’t help the butterflies when Steve’s other hand moves your hair to the side, pressing light kisses to the back of your neck.
“I’m upset with you. Did you forget?” You can continue your search, begging your voice to remain calm.
“What do I have to do to make you not so upset with me?” He strategically lowers his voice in that soft, sultry way. The one that makes you so weak that you end up falling in bed with him every time.
You ignore him again, taking in his roaming hand.
“Hm?” He kisses between your shoulder and neck.
“I don’t know,” you shrug.
“There has to be something. Anything.”
You turn abruptly, “All I know is: I’m still really pissed off and a little hurt. And I’m not being dramatic this time, you let me think I had finally weaned her off her pacifier, just for me to end up being the bad guy because you were sneaking it to her this whole time” you huff. “And you shoving yourself on me is not helping.”
“Shoving myself?” He sounds offended and taken aback at the last part of your vehement.
“Yes.”
Maybe shoving wasn’t the perfect word choice.
“Okay.” He exhales, resting his hands on his hips. “I’ve let you simmer in your anger all day, I’ve given you your space, and I’ve been patient. But now we’re talking it out.”
“And if I don’t want to?,” You tell him, raising an eyebrow in challenge.
But Steve has had it. His fingers gripping your chin gently as he turns your face, “Sit down, Y/n. I’m not asking again.”
You’re taken aback by his gesture, but in a concerningly good way. You concede as you follow him to the main living room. You sit on the couch while Steve makes a point to sit on the center table, his knees brushing yours.
“Why are you upset?” Is the first thing Steve says.
“Oh my god, Steve. Why do you think?”
“Well obviously I understand the reason, I just don’t understand why. It’s just a pacifier, what's the big deal.”
She loves this man with her whole heart, but my god, could he be frustrating at times.
“Right now isn't just about a binky, then it’ll turn to curfews, deciding when she can date, when she can dye her hair— we’re supposed to be a unified front. And I don’t want us to do things behind each other’s backs because we disagree. and letting Lys see that too is another thing. I don’t wanna seem like a bad parent, Steve, and it sucks that you let me celebrate this milestone when you knew it wasn’t true.”
“Baby,” Steve breathes as he grasps your hand and pulls on your arm, tugging you onto his lap. When you’re seated, he caresses the cut of your jaw, kissing the corner of your lips. “I’m sorry. I didn’t see it that way and it wasn’t my intention to hurt you either. I promise it was only supposed to be one time, but it got out of hand when she kept pulling those damn puppy eyes.”
You gently laugh at the last part. “She can be very convincing,” you tell him.
“She can…and I don’t want you to think I don’t respect any of the opinions you have towards Elysia.”
You smile at his admission, “I’m sorry for the way I acted.”
“It’s alright, I understand. And while we’re at it, I don't like you walking around as if i’m not here. I mean, not even a good morning?”
“I’m sorry. I’ll work on it, I promise.” You pull his face to yours. “Do you want a blowie to make up for it?” You mumble against his lips.
Steve smirks at your proposal, dragging a hand down to squeeze your ass, “As long as I get to show you how sorry I am.”
“Deal.” you kiss his lips and before you know it, you’re being thrown back onto the couch. Steve hovers over you, his gold pendant resting against your collarbone. “Steve!” you laugh.
Steve lifts himself up with one arm, while he turns the other to glance at his exorbitant watch, “We have about fifteen minutes until she wakes up from her nap.” Steve informs you, descending to place a peck on your lips before eagerly tugging your jeans down.
-
It’s a bright and sunny day. The three of you are in your backyard, behind the gazebo where your flowers, fruits, and veggies stay.
You and Steve are knelt on either side of Elysia who stands with her bag of binkies clutched in her hands.
“You ready?” You ask her softly, running your hand over her hair.
“Will I get lots of stuff?” She looks up to you.
“Lots and lots of stuff.” You promise.
“Okay..” she’s still unsure about it, but the promise of new things was enough to reel her in.
The three of you begin to shovel a hole big enough for the ziploc bag. When you're done, you all sit back.
“Ready, babydoll?” Steve asks. He smiles when she nods her head.
“I am so proud of you,” you praise your little one, kissing her cheek.
Elysia smiles at the praise and quickly drops the ziploc bag into the hole, “We can cover it.”
So the three of you do just that and then she picks up her watercan to water the spot.
-
The next morning is like christmas. Elysia comes running into your bedroom. The bed is still too high for her, so she stands at the end of the bed, jumping in her spot.
“Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!”
“Lys,” you groan.
“We have to go outside!”
When Elysia’s contagious energy rubs off on you and Steve. The three of you finally make it outside. Pajamas and all. She was eager more than ever to make it outside. None of your voices had even settled before you got out here, voices still gravely and full of sleep.
You and Steve each hold one of Elysia’s hands as you walk to the garden. She babbles on with excitement, trying to get her father to indulge in it too. Her father who trudged along and rubbed the scruff of his beard and eyes every five seconds.
But when Elysia finally sees the flourished part of where her Binkys are planted, her small hands cover her mouth in surprise. She bounces in glee, running towards the patch. Her excited giggles fill the air and her eyes brighten, in awe at every gift.
There’s a variation of sealed lollipops, sealed cake pops, and new fisher-price little people figures. Everything on sticks looks like they were grown from the ground.
“Mommy! Daddy! Look, look, look” she points behind her. “I gots new stuff!”
-

Accident
Pairing: Mason Mount x mom!reader
Warnings: car accident
Summary: Where y/n has a car accident with their daughter on the way to Mason's game and at halftime he gets the news that they are in the hospital.
Tumblr media
I was already very late for the game, I got tied up with work stuff and missed the alarm I set up, so now I was running out of time to get to the game in time.
Only in the middle of the way some idiot came with everything and threw my car far away.
"Oh my God." I unbuckled my seat belt and turned to the back seat watching my daughter cry loudly. "It's okay, baby."
Soon I could hear noises of ambulance and police cars, they came to me and I got out of the car carefully holding my daughter.
"You need to be checked." The paramedic said.
"I'm not letting her go."
"Give her to me so she can also be checked.”
"I already said I am not releasing her, it is my right to accept treatment or not if I am conscious and as I am and I said no. I'll accept being taken to the hospital and in the ambulance you guys can check her but I'm not letting you take her out of me."
"All right, let's go."
I got into the ambulance trying to calm her down, I was nervous and scared, I needed to talk to Mason but my stuff stayed in the car so I couldn't call him. They check us and none of us have a concussion in the way to the hospital.
As soon as we arrived I had to hand Maia over to the nurses so they could run tests on her and me.
After about half an hour I was back in the room and soon they brought her back to me, I started breastfeeding her because she was hungry.
"The police will be coming here in a few minutes to take your statement miss, is there anyone we can call to stay with you?"
"Yes there is my husband Mason but he is busy right now so he’s not going to see the call."
"Anyone else?"
"Actually there is his coach number, you can call him and tell him I had an accident please." She agrees and writes down the number I gave her and leaves the room to make the call.
Meanwhile on the other side of town, Mason was playing with pride knowing that his team was winning and that his wife and daughter were somewhere in the stands watching him play.
Little did he know that they were both in a hospital room waiting for him to come to them.
The first half ended and Mason went to get a drink of water, but the worried look on the coach's face made him worry that something bad happens.
"Is everything okay?" He asks.
"I got a call from the hospital, your wife and daughter were involved in a car accident."
"Are they okay?" He asks worriedly.
"They are fine, they took them there for some tests but you should go there."
"Yeah, sure."
I grabbed my things and ran to the car, it was a little difficult since there were some fans there but I managed to dodge them and go to the hospital that the coach had told me about.
The way there was torturous, even though he said they were fine I hadn't seen them with my own eyes yet.
I ran inside the hospital and stopped in front of the reception desk and after she told me the room I ran to where my girls were.
"Thank God." I say entering the room and going to them. "How are you my love?"
"We are fine Mase, it was just a really big scary accident."
"What happened?"
"I was late with work stuff and after I let the babysitter go we were on our way to the game when some crazy person came up fast and hit us." She says tearfully. "But I swear I was paying attention to the road and I wasn't going fast and..."
"Relax, I believe you babe."
"It's just that I don't want you to think that i was going fast with Maia in the car and that I've put her at risk and..."
"Calm down, honey, you're too nervous." She stops and takes a deep breath. "I know you're careful when you're with her and it wasn't your fault, it was the person who hit you."
"It's just that I can't stop thinking that something bad could have happened to her."
"I know, I spent the whole way here thinking the worst had happened to you but it's okay now."
"Can you lie here with me?"
"Of course I can baby." She goes to the side and hands me Maia who smiled when she saw me. "Let's watch the rest of the game."
I turned the TV on the channel and we stood there watching the end of the second half together.

Let's talk about hotd's deleted scenes
Soo hotd has a lot of interesting scenes that were deleted. Some people love them, others believe that removing them was for the best.
Today I'll check em out and tell you how I feel about them, and how I think they could have benefited the show if kept in.
1. The infamous Daemon hug scene
Tumblr media
Uhh I have.. feelings towards this.
And I already hear you go:
"How could you not like this, it's so wholesome!" Yeah I know I know, trust me, I think this is adorable, just a weird scene.
From what we know this shot was completely improvised by Matt and it shows.
Cause almost all of his character's nicer scenes that make people think "maybe he isn't that bad" were ideas Matt came up with. We can see throughout the show how the poor guy does his best to not make Daemon look like a psycho and it's nice on paper, but the contrast between his improvised scenes and the scripted ones is jarring.
I mean we go from him violently beating his first wife to death with a rock, to him tenderly breaking the news of Luke's death to Nyra or picking up Vizzy's crown and gently crowning him.
It does work more with his book characterization though so that's cool.
It's cute, it makes casual viewers go awww, but it's a bit inconsistent in the grand scheme of things.
I guess some people will interpret it as the softer spot Daemon has for the people he truly cares about, but knowing how he also treats them in other scenes...
Cough cough Rhaenyra choke scene cough cough.
I'm just left a bit confused.
Overall, I like it, but there's better.
7-/10
2. Criston taking his Kingsguard vows.
Tumblr media
God I wanted this to make the cut soo bad.
It's just that in the past I've already talked about how dirty Criston is done in the fandom, and I truly believe he deserves more screentime, he's a very interesting character.
So getting a scene like this would have been awesome, and by showcasing the pride and happiness Criston felt at achieving his dream thanks to Rhae, her eventual treatment of him would have hurt even worse.
Personally I'm not sure if it could have swung more people to feel for him and criticize Nyra, but it would have generally enriched his character and relationship with the princess and I would have looved it.
Only point against it is that it's probably one of the least important deleted scenes.
It sucks to say it, but I didn't really feel it's absence, you know?
If I had to cut a scene, I too would have chosen this one, but with a veery heavy heart.
Really solid idea though.
8+/10
3. The Rhaenicent fight at the end of episode 2
Tumblr media
Finally, we're moving onto Alicent related scenes.
And this... is my villain origin story.
I can't believe it was cut, wtf!
I get that maybe they wanted to stay loyal to the rule "show don't tell" cause it was already obvious that Rhae was mad at Alicent when she ran out of council meeting room after the announcement of her father's betrothal, but like... The possible angst!
Alicent crying, trying to explain the situation and appealing to their friendship to try and get Nyra to calm down while she screams at her and calls her names for not revealing the truth sooner, god this would have destroyed me even further!
The missed potential drives me insane, I would literally pay money to see how this scene was supposed to play out.
10/10
This awesome interaction would have also perfectly set up the hostility and tention that would characterize the next deleted gem...
4. Rhaenicent preparing for Ali's wedding
Tumblr media
Godd, this is another one of those scenes that, in my humble opinion, should have stayed in the show.
Not only because of the possibility of more Rhaenicent angst to break my heart,(Yeess) but also because this is one of those scenes whose absence is really felt in the story for me.
We go from Ali and Viserys's betrothal to them being already married with a toddler and another baby on the way and even though I'm aware that hotd has a lot of time jumps, I do feel like we should at least have seen the wedding celebration before moving onto the future.
This event being glossed over really left a bad taste in my mouth.
9,5/10
I can just imagine the sad and awkward silence during that scene, poor girls.
5. Viserys testing Daemon regarding Aegon's prophecy
Tumblr media
Soo, time to talk about the most incompetent targ king and his very problematic bro.
This scene had a loot of potential.
Apparently it was supposed to be about Viserys toying with the idea of revealing the Conquerer's prophecy to Daemon, but ultimately choosing not to after his brother showed little to no interest in what he was saying.
It would have been great to set up Daemyra's fight in the last episode
(honestly it would have been quite funny to see Daemon have a meltdown after hearing of the prophecy that he thinks his brother didn't trust him enough to tell him of, when he literally had the chance of knowing about it but threw it away lol)
And it also would have showcased how unfit Daemon is to rule, and given Viserys yet another reason to pick Rhaenyra as his heir over him.
9-/10
In conclusion:
Yes I know there are a lot more deleted scenes to discuss, but I really don't want this post to get too long, so I'm going to end it here.
Personally, I think all of these deleted scenes were good, and there genuinely wasn't a single one I would have hated to see on screen.
But what were your favourites? Please tell me, especially if they weren't featured in this post, I'm super curious to find out about more cut scenes to learn what we all missed lmao.

Obsession, part 20
Tumblr media
Six Months Later
"Five? Are you insane?"
Aemond wasn't budging. "I can make it six."
His wife stood with her hands on her hips. "I am not going shopping with five guys surrounding me."
"Okay."
"Aemond!"
He walked around his desk, ran a hand down her arm. "Look. I am not letting anything happen to you and our baby. I can go with you if you wish."
She grabbed his hands. "Just you?"
"No. Five guards and me."
"How the hell is that less insane?"
He brought her hand to his lips, kissed it. "How about this? I will ask them to close the store for an hour so you can shop and I will only send four guards with you."
She hung her head and sighed. "Fine. Fine. I just wanted to shop for baby clothes."
Aemond's phone buzzed but he ignored it, cradling her face in his hands. "All I want to do is keep you both safe. I will tear apart anyone who tries to harm you, but I'd rather it not get to that."
She nodded quietly. "I know. And I love you for it. I just wanted to look at baby stuff like everyone else."
"I can make it happen, you won't know the men are there."
* * * * *
You invited Alicent to go along with you. Helaena was in Winterfell but she'd be back when the baby was born, and in any case, as much as she still made you wary, Alicent was your baby's grandmother, and she'd seemed delighted when you asked her to go with you.
"This is very sweet," she mused, holding up a little pajama set in the softest cream knit fabric.
"That is very cute," you agreed, letting her add the little jammies to the basket she held. She headed to the counter and you heard her asking if they could source the same but in green.
In the end, you spent more money on the baby than you had ever spent shopping for yourself - well, before your days included charity events and fancy dinners - and Alicent had asked that they hold a few items back so they could be monogrammed after the baby's birth.
At lunch, she told you how clueless she'd been with her own babies at first. She had been a very young mother and had no idea what she was doing.
"They turned out well in the end," you smiled. "They're all great human beings."
"I am very proud of them," she agreed, "and I know-"
Suddenly an explosion rocked somewhere a block away, and Alicent immediately stood to shield you as two of Aemond's men appeared and escorted you to the car.
"Do we know what is going on?" Alicent asked while you concentrated on keeping your breathing steady and getting the seat belt over your bump.
"We'd heard rumblings from Pentos, but we don't know for sure."
You looked at Alicent, "who's in Pentos?"
Alicent shook her head, exasperated. "Viserys's brother, Daemon. He surfaces every once in a while, trying to make trouble."
"The one who married Rhaenyra?"
Leaning in, Alicent smirked. "The one who cheats on Rhaenyra."
"Oh."
"I heard she'd thrown him out for good a couple of days ago. He's probably drunk and angry and decided to blow something up."
"Will he attack the family?"
Alicent considered this, "no, he just likes making trouble. We'll retaliate and he'll sink back into whatever hellhole he's living in now."
Back home, Aemond was waiting for you at the main gate. "Are you okay? The doctor is on her way."
You raised your eyebrows at him. "I'm fine, Aemond, I don't think I really need the doctor." But you didn't protest any further, because as you well knew, your husband would not be happy until you were checked over.
* * * * *
When the doctor walked in, you had been taken down to the medical wing, mostly used for Alicent's skin treatments.
"Thank you for coming in such short notice," Aemond said, shaking her hand. She looked at you and smiled.
"Not a problem, I'm close by."
"Hello, Dr. Alysanne," you smiled back. She was a distant cousin of the Targaryens and a world-renowned specialist in obstetrics, and you'd felt comfortable with her since your first appointment.
Alysanne walked around the hospital bed. "I hear you had an exciting lunch date."
You related the events while she took your vitals and then started the ultrasound machine. Aemond stood on the other side of the bed, holding your hand while the doctor spread gel over your belly and began running the wand over.
"Everything looks good, baby's active, oh," she turned to look at both of you, "last time baby was being shy and we couldn't find out the sex. Would you like to know?"
You turned to Aemond, and nodded. "Yes, please."
"What is my beautiful wife having, doctor?"
* * * * *
"Are you happy, my love?"
You were in Aemond's arms later that evening, after sharing the news of the baby's sex and the name you had chosen with the family, you had retreated to your home, where Aemond had slowly peeled off your clothes and kissed every inch of you. He'd needed to have you, despite knowing you were well, and that the pregnancy was going as it should.
After, you'd turned onto your side, letting him run his hand over your belly. The baby kicked as Aemond gently caressed your skin.
"Yes," you said, "very happy. I have you. I have our baby, it is more than I ever thought I would have."
He raised your face to his. "It is more than I ever thought I would have." He placed a gentle kiss on your lips. "You are more than I ever thought I would have."
You smiled, "well, I'm becoming more and more every day with this baby."
"You are a goddess," he replied, "you are radiant, glowing, sexy." He nuzzled your cheek, inhaling the scent of your skin. "I can't keep my hands off you."
He was right. He'd always had a high sex drive, but since you began to show, he had to be touching you at all times. Whether it was a quick grab of your ass, an afternoon spent in bed, or simply holding you on the sofa, he was always there. You felt cherished and safe, more than ever.
Aemond pulled your leg across his stomach so that you straddled him. He reached up to touch your breasts as you sank onto him and you gasped at how sensitive your skin was. He kept his touch light and gentle, and you began to roll your hips.
"Tell me if I hurt you," he murmured, fingers skimming along the curves of your breasts. They were fuller and rounder, and Aemond loved taking his time with them.
"You never do," you said, sighing as he brushed his thumb over your nipple. It was like lightning, the way the pleasure spread to the spot between your legs, and you moaned as he continued lavishing attention on your nipples.
He squeezed your breasts gently and your hips started moving faster. "That's it," he whispered, "so fucking good."
You grabbed onto his hands as you felt your release starting, letting your head fall back as you came. You felt him thrust up against you as the lashings of pleasure took you, felt him come inside you and fall apart underneath you.
* * * * *
"Hey, it's the Starks!" Aegon called out to his sister as she and Cregan walked in to the main house. "Oh."
A petite brunette walked in behind Cregan. "This is my sister Lyanne, she's on her way to Highgarden but I wanted her to meet you all." He smiled easily at her, and Aegon could see the similarities - the same grey eyes, the dark wavy hair.
"Ah, welcome," he said, walking toward the brunette, "I'm Aegon."
"Lyanne. You have a beautiful home."
He vaguely heard his sister and her husband walking to his mother, but could only stare at Lyanne. "You're beautiful," he blurted out, and immediately berated himself. "Sorry, I'm just, uh, welcome. I'm Aegon."
Lyanne smiled at him, "it is very nice to meet you, Aegon. I adore your sister."
Aegon simply stared at her until he heard his mother's voice.
"Stop monopolizing the girl, come on over here!"
"Sorry," he said, and offered her his arm, "mother wants to meet you. She's not as scary as you may have heard."
Lyanne laughed, a soft, musical sound that had him smiling in response. "We Starks don't frighten easily," she whispered, her eyes dropping to his mouth.
Alicent started speaking to Lyanne while he, Aegon Targaryen, who had bedded many a beauty, was left speechless. She was hardly dressed for seduction, her jeans and high necked shirt more practical than alluring, her well worn boots more suited to the countryside than the city. And still he couldn't tear his eyes away from her.
When Aemond and his wife arrived, there were more introductions, and as glad as he was to be around his family, Aegon wanted nothing more than to have Lyanne Stark all to himself.
She was going to Highgarden, Cregan had said, and he texted Aemond across the dinner table.
"Aegon, you know I don't like that during family dinners."
"Mother, this is of utmost importance," he said, very seriously.

"What are you doing?"
"Calling Milena Tyrell."
Aemond rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Aegon, you don't even know-"
The call connected, and Aegon signaled his brother to be quiet. Aemond listened while his brother asked, cajoled, and then threatened, until he got his way.
"Aegon, if I'd known what you were going to do-"
"You don't need to know what I am going to do, brother, you were asked to procure information and you did. Now, I believe we should join the conversation."
Aegon left his office, not giving Aemond a chance to interject. Not that Aegon would listen, Aemond thought.
While he sat next to his wife and listened as Helaena told them all about her new dog at Winterfell, he caught his mother staring somewhere behind him, and when he turned, he caught Aegon taking Lyanne Stark to the gardens in the back.
He turned back to find Alicent raising an eyebrow at him, and he shrugged almost imperceptibly.
"I've named her Dreamfyre, and she was so little just a couple of weeks ago, but they grow to be the size of wolves."
"Mine is Darkfyre," Cregan added, "they're such loyal animals, steady and protective. We've always had them in our family."
"Have you guys finished the nursery?" Helaena asked.
You laughed, " 'we' didn't really do anything. Alicent had a designer come in and she asked some questions about what we liked, and it's all done and ready."
"She is the best in Westeros," Alicent chimed in. "She doesn't take many clients, but of course she will work for us whenever we need."
"Do you want to go see it?" you asked, and Helaena jumped up.
"Hell yes!"

Three months later
"Is there anything else I can get you?"
You smiled sleepily at your husband. "I have everything I need right here." You looked down at your son as he fed at your breast. The first few days had been rough because of the c-section and because the baby wouldn't latch properly, so Dr Alysanne had brought in a lactation consultant who had worked with you both until things finally clicked and he began feeding in earnest.
Aemond had paid the consultant to stay in the estate for a couple of weeks, just in case, and there was a rotation of three nurses that worked eight hour shifts to help with the baby.
"I'll burp him," Aemond said, taking his son in his arms with practiced ease. He laid the cloth on his shoulder and then began patting the baby's back. "Come on, Aerys," he cooed, "can't keep those bubbles in your belly."
"May I?"
The night nurse knocked gently, peering in.
You nodded, and she helped you up and went to the bathroom with you. Being in labor for hours had drained your strength, and in the end, surgery had been needed for Aerys to be born. but you were starting to feel like yourself again.
Your surgery site was healing fine, the nurse said, and she helped you back to the bed, tucking you in and making sure you had everything you needed.
"Would you like me to take him, sir?"
"No, I got him, thank you," Aemond said, "he's ready to settle down."
"Very good, sir, I'll be next door."
You hadn't expected Aemond to be so hands-on with your baby. He had no experience caring for children, but with Aerys, he'd asked the nurses a thousand questions, watched everything they did, and then jumped in to care for his son while you recovered.
Helaena and Cregan were staying in the main house, and the new aunt was delighted with her new nephew. She had made several drawings of animals for him, and had cried with happiness when she saw that all the drawings were framed, filling one of the nursery walls.
Aegon had married Lyanne, with Cregan's approval, a month after they met, after her arranged marriage with Willas Tyrell was broken off by Milena. Lyanne, who was usually steadfast and sensible, had told her brother that Aegon was the one and either she married him or she married no one.
Daeron said he wanted to post photos of himself holding his nephew because "chicks like it," and Aemond had told him that his son would never be used as bait, but it was Daeron who had stayed up all night with Aemond as he cared for Aerys those first few days. Aemond had found a new maturity in his younger brother, and Daeron had expressed his desire to start working for the family soon.
Alicent delighted in her new status as grandmother, stopping by in the mornings to check on Aemond and his family. "You chose well, my son," she said one morning as she rocked baby Aerys after he'd been fed and burped. "She makes you happy."
"She does. I'm very happy, mother."
"I am glad to hear it, Aemond. You deserve every joy."
Aemond sat on the rocking chair, gently bouncing his son while his wife slept. He couldn't have envisioned this moment. Every hurt, every loss, every moment of grief he had experienced, he supposed it had all led to this. And he wouldn't change a thing.

Chapter Six
Tumblr media
Two chickadees chattered away as they landed on the porch railing a few feet from you. You had gotten a text shortly after you finished work from James and Anna asking you to call them. Your hand gripped the phone tighter than usual as it rang.
"Hi, honey." Anna's warm voice greeted. "You're on speaker. James is here too."
"Hi, hun."
"Hey, I got your text. Is...is everything okay?"
"Well..."
James picked up when his wife trailed off. "If anything happened with Nick, you made us promise to tell you. You know he talked to us a couple of times if we were outside at the same time, telling us you weren't around because you found out you were sick and had to go away for treatment." He took a breath. "He came to see us this afternoon."
"And?" You asked nervously.
"He asked where you were."
Your stomach dropped. "He knows you helped me."
"No, he doesn't know for sure. He saw the video of us dropping someone off at the bus station but there is no proof that it's you. There aren't any surveillance cameras on our street and we sure as hell aren't going to tell him anything."
"Honey?" Anna said when you stayed quiet.
"But, you know what he's like." Your voice wavered.
"Violet, you don't have to worry about us," James assured. "He's not going to hurt us or do anything like that because he knows he will get in trouble. You know I still have friends in the police department from my lawyer days."
"But-"
"But, nothing, hun. We will be okay and so will you." Anna reassured. "He has no idea where you are."
You took a deep breath. "Okay."
"Violet!" Tate grinned as he and Kayce walked over after being in the barn.
"Hi, bud."
"Oh, is that Tate?!" Anna asked.
"Yes, it's Tate."
He sat in the empty chair next to you. "Who are you talkin' to?"
"I'm talking to James and Anna."
"Your neighbors when you were in California? Can I talk to them?!"
You smiled. "Tate wants to say hi."
"Yes. Yes. Put him on." Anna urged while James chuckled.
"They have it on speaker so you can hear both of them."
He eagerly took your phone and began telling them all about the ranch, school, and everything in between.
"Hey, baby." Kayce kissed you before sitting down on the arm of your chair.
"Hi." You gave him a small smile before resting your head on the side of his thigh. His hand started playing with your hair while you both listened to Tate talk to your adopted grandparents like they had known each other their whole life.
Ten minutes later John walked out onto the porch. He looked at Tate with questioning eyes.
"I'm talking to Violet's grandparents. Wait. I need to talk to you." Tate told him before focusing back on the phone. "I have to go. It was nice talking to you. Oh, and you don't have to worry about Violet cause my dad really likes her. He even lets her drive his truck. I'll take care of her too." He gave the phone back to you with a grin.
"Hi."
"Honey, he is the sweetest thing. And, it makes me so happy to hear that you and Kayce are doing so well."
James chuckled. "He's quite the kid. We can't wait to meet him, and everyone else there, someday."
"Me too."
"We don't want to keep you. We'll talk again soon. Love you, hun."
"So much," James added.
You smiled. "Love you too. Bye."
"Grandpa, what are you doin'?" Tate asked John.
"I gotta go to town to pick up a few things."
"You know, if I come, you could take me for ice cream. Remember when I helped you bath your horse, you said you would take me for ice cream."
"That I did."
"So?!"
John laughed, "Let's go then."
"Come for a ride with me?" Kayce asked after you watched them drive off.
"Okay."
He took your hand and the two of you walked to the barn. While he saddled up his horse, you checked on Storm.
"Hey, pretty girl." She immediately walked up to the stall door so you could pet her. "Here." You pulled a peppermint out of your pocket and gave it to her, smiling when her soft nose brushed against your palm. "She looks so much better and it's only been two and a half months."
"Well, she had a good owner." Kayce grinned as he walked up and pet her. "Ready to go?"
"Mhm." You gave her another peppermint before walking out of the barn and into the fence behind it. After climbing up, Kayce joined you.
"Do you want to do it?" He offered you the reigns.
"You can."
"Yes ma'am." He rested his hand on your thigh while the other wrapped around you.
You leaned against him. As you rode up into the mountains you were quiet, thoughts of your neighbors and your ex filled your head.
When you got to the meadow, he pulled back on the reigns and the horse stopped. Kayce swung his leg over and stepped down. Before you could do the same he stopped you. "I got ya."
A smile pulled at your lips and you swung your leg in front of you so you were sitting on the saddle with your legs hanging over the same side. He reached up and you slid down into his arms. After his lips pressed against yours, he let you go so he could tie his horse up. You walked into the meadow and sat down on the soft grass.
Kayce joined you, sinking next to you. "Baby, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, I'm good."
"Letty," his hand gently took your chin and turned your face towards him, "I've known you long enough to know when you're lying."
"I was just thinking about James and Anna."
"You miss them." He said softly and you nodded. "Dad would give you time off so you could go visit them."
"No. I'm never going back there." It tumbled out fast, too fast, and your breath caught in your throat. "I mean, how could you after being somewhere as beautiful as it is here." Please, believe me.
He knew that wasn't the reason but he didn't push. "They can come visit you here then. There's lots of room if they wanted to stay at the ranch. I would love to meet them and by the amount of time that Tate spent talking to them on the phone, he would too."
"Yeah, that would be nice. Someday they'll have to." You looked at him and gave him a hopeful smile.
He smiled back before kissing you. "So, you've been here for four months and I don't know very much about you." Your breath caught in your throat. "Like what's your favourite colour or favourite food?"
You relaxed and leaned into him. "Well, my favorite color is blue, and my favorite food...burgers. Oh, and pizza. What's yours?"
*
"Okay, I have another one. Favorite flower?" He asked after going back and forth through all of the basics. "Let me guess..." his eyes studied you. "Roses 'cause you're the kind of girl who deserves the best."
You shook your head. "It's not roses."
"Maybe it's because no guys have been smart enough to get them for you."
"Uh, my umm, last boyfriend got me roses all the time." You noticed him stiffen slightly at the mention of a boyfriend. "I hate them, I always have. I like daisies."
"The white ones?"
"Mhm. Plain, simple, pretty. Roses are pretty too but there's no thought behind them. Everyone just goes to the store, grabs a dozen roses and that's it."
"Daisies it is." He smirked. "And you're right, roses are boring. What do you say we head back? It's getting close to supper time." You nodded and he got up before offering his hand to you. Once he helped you to your feet, he pulled you close and pressed his lips against yours.
You leaned into him, kissing him back. "Come on. We have to go. Oh, and your horse still needs a name." Your giggle filled the meadow as you headed toward his horse.
*****
"Ready to go, baby?" Kayce asked as you walked into the living room.
"Ready."
"Yay!" Tate cheered and ran to the front door. "Let's go!"
You and Kayce chuckled, making your way to the now-open front door that Tate flung open and ran through. Before you stepped outside, Kayce's arm slid around your waist and pulled you against him. "You look really good." His eyes took you and the new dress you had bought a few days ago in. The white sundress with embroidered lacy hem that you paired it with white canvas sneakers and a denim jacket.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah." He smirked, backing you against the door. Your hands slid over his shoulders and pulled him even closer with a grin on your face. A chuckle left his lips before they pressed against yours for a quick yet thorough kiss. When he pulled away, you let out a small whine leaving him chuckling for a second time. "God, you're cute."
"Stop." You giggled, giving him a playful shove.
"Violet. Dad. Come on!"
"We're coming." Your hand slipped into the cowboy's standing in front of you. "Your son is ready for pizza. Let's go."
"Yes, ma'am." Kayce kissed your temple before following you down the porch steps.
*
Kayce's arm was draped across your lap, his hand resting on your thigh. "I think he had fun." He chuckled as he glanced at Tate, who was sound asleep and curled up against the passenger door.
"I think you're right." You smiled as you watched him sleep for a few seconds before resting your head on your boyfriend's shoulder. "So did I."
"Me too." His lips pressed against your hair. "Letty?" He said after a couple of silent minutes.
"Hmm?"
"I talked to my old commander. I...I'm thinking about re-enlisting."
You sat up abruptly, your hold on his arm tightening. "What? Why? Is it because of me? I thought-I thought we were okay."
"Because I...I've been keeping things from you. I didn't just kill the guy who shot Lee."
"I know."
"It wasn't just the ones in the Navy either. When I told you I wasn't a good man when it comes to most things, I wasn't lying. I've killed people here. The ranch-"
"Kayce, I know."
His worried eyes left the road and came to you. "You know? Dad?"
A soft smile pulled at your lips. "Lee." One of your hands left his arm and wrapped around his after he stopped the truck in the middle of the desolate road. "He wanted me to know that you go above and beyond for the ranch and the people you love."
"You deserve someone better than me."
"And, you deserve someone better than me. Kayce, you are an amazing man and I want to be with you. What you've done in the past doesn't change that. Neither will what you do in the future. I know how valuable the ranch is and what people will do to get it. And, I know how much the ranch means to you and your family. It's your life. Your family didn't go through everything they did to come to this place, to keep this place back then, to lose it to someone who wants to turn it into an airport, and whatever else they want to do with it. There's enough for the transplants here to do." A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth as you placed your hand over his heart. "I want you, Kayce, all of you. The good and what you think is the bad. Please, don't go."
"Letty," his hands cupped your face as his eyes became glassy. "I don't know what I did to be lucky enough to call you mine."
"Right back at you." He leaned in and kissed you firmly before resting his forehead against yours. "You should probably start driving again so we're not parked in the middle of the road when someone comes around the corner."
He chuckled. "Yeah because there is nonstop traffic on this road."
You giggled and a smile formed on his handsome face. "Don't leave." Your hold on him tightened again.
"I'm not going anywhere, Letty." His lips pressed against yours. "You're stuck with me and the kid who could sleep through anything."
You went back to cuddling against his side while Tate snored softly next to you.
Suddenly, flashing red and blue lights lit up the darkness, and not just from one police car. Kayce pulled over. "Kayce Dutton. Get out of the truck with your hands up." Came over the megaphone speaker.
"Kayc." You clutched Kayce's arm as he pulled over.
"It's okay, baby. I'll be okay."
"But-"
"Come out with your hands up!"
"Letty, Jamie's the best lawyer around. I'll be home before you know it." He gave you a quick kiss before opening his door and getting out.
You watched him back up with his hands above his head. When they told him to stop and get on his knees, he did. He didn't resist when they put his hands behind his back and put handcuffs on him. His brown eyes pierced your watery ones before they put him in the back of one of the police cars.
"My name is Ben Waters, the police chief in Broken Rock." A Native American man informed after walking up to the truck. "Kayce said your name is Violet."
"Y-yes." You wiped away the tears that were trickling down.
"We arrested Kayce for the murder of Robert Long. Do you have a license or do you need to call someone to come get you?"
Your hands started fumbling in your purse. "I-I have a license."
He placed his hand on the top of the open door. "It's okay. I don't need to see it. I've seen you driving the Dutton's work truck and I know John wouldn't let you run errands without one. Drive safe."
"I will." The police chief nodded before shutting the door for you. You slid over into the driver's seat and started the truck. As you headed back to the ranch it took everything you had to keep from bursting out in tears. I can't or I'll wake up Tate. Kayce will be fine. He's going to be fine.
*
John and Jamie were in the living room sitting in front of the fireplace when you got home. "Ah, they've returned. Did you have fun?" John asked as he looked over his shoulder at you.
"It was great! We had pizza and then walked around. Then we stopped for ice cream!"
"Sounds like a good time." Jamie smiled at his nephew.
"Where's your dad?"
"He stopped to help someone on the way home," Tate answered his grandpa before looking up at you. "I know you're going to tell me it's time for bed. Can you read me a story since Dad's not here?"
"Go put your pajamas on and brush your teeth. I'll be right up."
John waited until Tate disappeared upstairs before asking again. "Where's Kayce?"
"They-they arrested him." A few tears slipped free. "The reservation arrested him for killing the man who shot Lee." You drew in a shaky breath as Kayce's dad and brother came over to you. "Tate was asleep the whole time. He didn't see."
"It's going to be okay," John assured and wrapped you in his arms.
"You've got me, remember?" Jamie squeezed your shoulder. "I'm going to make a few calls." He said before going to John's office.
John guided you to the couch and you both sat down. "Did they ask to see your license? Did they run it?"
"The police chief asked if I had one so I could drive back. He didn't ask to see it though. He said he knew you and you wouldn't let someone drive your work trucks if they didn't have one."
Some of the tension left his shoulders. "Good. And, Kayce will be home before you know it." When you nodded, he squeezed your knee. "We've got Jamie and I know the police chief."
You nodded again. "I should go tuck Tate into bed."
John stood up and walked you to the stairs. "How great you are with Tate, knowing the things Kayce's done and still being with him...you're an amazing woman, Violet. We're all lucky to have you here."
"Being with Kayce, spending time with Tate, living here with all of you; I'm the lucky one. Umm, if you hear from Kayce or hear anything, wake me up?"
"Of course."
"Violet! I'm in bed!"
Hearing Tate yelling for you made you both let out a chuckle. "Goodnight, Violet."
"Goodnight."
*
"Violet?" Tate asked before you started reading.
"Yeah, bud?"
"When's dad gonna be home?"
You drew in a shaky breath as you buried your emotions. "I'm not sure."
He nodded. "The person he's helping must have a lot to do." His face lit up and he looked at you with excitement. "Can you have a sleepover with me tonight?"
"Okay." He scooted over giving you more room. You smiled at the sweet little boy before getting comfy. "Alright, ready for the story?"
"Ready." He said after cuddling up to you.
By the time you finished reading, Tate was hugging your arm and fast asleep. You placed a kiss on the top of his head before laying back on the pillow. Tears leaked from your eyes at the thought of Kayce sitting in a jail cell. It's only for tonight hopefully. Jamie and John will get him out. It's going to be okay. He's going to be okay. Your eyes went to the window where a full moon was shining bright. You smiled as an image of your boyfriend looking at the same moon came to your head. Goodnight, Kayc.
*****
You were sitting outside with John and Tate when the helicopter flew over the mountains and landed on the lawn. Relief washed over you when Kayce got out behind Jamie.
"Dad!" Tate went running over.
"Hey, buddy." Kayce picked him up and carried him back over to you and his dad. "Did you have fun with Violet and your grandpa?"
"Yeah. Guess what?! Since you were busy helping people, Violet read me a bedtime story AND she had a sleepover with me!"
Kayce smiled enthusiastically. "She did?"
"Yep, and Grandpa said when you got home he would take me to town for ice cream!"
"Ice cream two days in a row. I never got ice cream two days in a row."
"Because you never did all your chores." John let out a chuckle. "Why don't you go to the truck? I'll be right behind you."
"Okay." Tate ran to the truck as soon as Kayce set him down.
When he was far enough away, John focused on his two sons. "It's taken care of?"
Jamie nodded, "it's done."
"He owed me a favor," John informed when he saw the confusion in your eyes. "Come on, Jamie. Tate wants you to come for ice cream too because all you do is work."
The three of you let out a laugh and Jamie even joined in. "I don't remember the last time I went for ice cream."
"You're with us then. We'll see you two later."
While they headed towards a waiting Tate, Kayce pulled you into a crushing hug. Your hands clung to the back of his shirt. "I told you everything would be okay."
"Mhm."
"Come for a walk with me?" You nodded so he let you go only to take your hand. He gave you a long, deep kiss before you made your way to the treehouse.
After sinking into the grass, you sat across his lap. "Are you okay?" You asked, your hands resting against the sides of his neck.
"I'm good. Better now that I'm home with you and Tate."
Your heart fluttered hearing him include you when talking about home and his son. "Is it really over? They're dropping the charges?"
"Yeah. Dad saved the police chief's life a while back."
"So, he saved yours, in a way."
"If they didn't agree to it, I would've been locked up for life. Not seeing you all day makes me crazy." His hand slid across your cheek. "Last night I could see the moon out of the window in the cell they put me in. It's dumb but I felt closer to you."
A smile pulled at your lips. "Really?! After I finished reading to Tate I lay there looking at the moon. I pictured you doing the same thing."
"I guess we were made for each other or something."
"I guess so." The smirk you loved formed before he leaned in and kissed you. As you rested your foreheads against each others, the sound of wings flapping drew your attention to a nearby tree.
Kayce held you tighter when he saw the eagle. "I think Lee is pretty damn proud of himself for practically forcing us together." The familiar bird called out before taking off and gliding over the valley.
"I think you're right."
"You have no idea how happy I am that you showed up here."
"I'm even happier." An image of your ex flashed through your mind but you buried it. He doesn't know where I am. I'm safe here. Kayce's hand gently took hold of your chin and pulled you in for a long, sweet kiss. When you parted you nestled against him, resting your head on his shoulder. For the next half an hour you sat there holding each other, thankful that you could look out over the mountains together instead of looking at each other through prison bars.
*****
Kayce's hand was wrapped around yours as the two of you walked to the corral where his horse was already saddled up. Before you climbed on, you noticed a blanket rolled up and tied onto the saddle and a basket sitting on the ground close by. "Are we having a picnic?!"
"Maybe." He smirked. "Hop up." Once you were seated he handed you the basket and climbed on with you.
"Okay, what's the occasion?" You asked when you got to the meadow.
"I know you love coming out here for our dates instead of going out for dinner or whatever normal couples do so," he spread out the blanket and you both sat down, "I thought I would bring dinner to us."
You watched as he pulled out fancy sandwiches, fruit, cheese, and a bottle of sparkling grape juice since you both didn't drink alcohol.
"You made this?" You asked skeptically.
A laugh left his lips "I never said I made it, I said I brought it."
"Gator?"
"Mhm. He also made this." His hand went back into the basket and pulled out a pie, which was the perfect size for two. "He was going to make a cake but I remembered you saying you like pie better than cake." He set it down on the blanket. "I also remembered it's our two-month anniversary."
On top of the pie, there was a number two made out of dough. Your eyes shot back to the man who was rapidly breaking down the walls you had built around your heart. How did I get so lucky?
"I know it's only two months and nothing big. It's kinda stupid and cheesy." He rambled when you didn't say anything.
"No, it's..."
"Hey, shh." His hands came up and cupped your face when he saw your watery eyes. "What's wrong? Was it too dumb of an idea? In my defense, Tate and Gator both urged me to do it. In hindsight, it's probably not the best idea to take dating advice from a seven-year-old and a guy who I've never seen with a girl."
You giggled. "No, it's...it's perfect."
He let out a sigh of relief before leaning in and kissing you.
*
"Hi," Kayce said softly and leaned in. You had finished eating and put everything back into the basket, setting it on the edge of the blanket.
"Hi." Your hand came up and rested on his toned, work-shirt-covered chest. You leaned in, pressing your lips against his. He wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you in, and his other hand slid into your hair. The kiss carried on but as it started getting heated, you pulled away. "I...I'm sorry. I-"
"Baby, you don't have to apologize. I didn't do this to get you to sleep with me." He tucked your hair behind your ear and smiled. "I did it because you are the most amazing woman I've ever met and I l- I like you, a lot. There's no rush. I'll wait for however long you need for you to be ready."
"Thank you." You wanted to tell him the real reason you left California, about Nick, but you were scared. So, you put it off and kept putting it off. After him getting arrested two days ago and everything he planned today; I don't want to ruin this. I'll tell him...tomorrow maybe...
He laid down on the blanket before gently pulling you down next to him. His arms around you as he looked up at the blue sky.
Your head rested on his chest and did the same. "That one looks like a bird." You pointed up at a fluffy white cloud floating by.
"That one looks like a dog chasing a...a fish?" You both laughed. "I don't remember the last time I did this. I could get used to it." He stated as he held you tighter.
"Me too." You cuddled up against his side before looking up at him. "At least once a month we have to lie back and look at the clouds."
"Deal."
"I think Tate would like it too."
"I think you're right." He smiled and a look you couldn't place flashed through his eyes. His lips found yours for a heartwarming kiss.
More of the wall crumbled away and you rested your head back on his chest, looking back up at the sky and silently thanking God for ending up here.

"It's starting to get dark. We better go, baby." He kissed your forehead before the two of you stood up and gathered the basket and blanket.
"Hi, still nameless horse." Kayce reached over and squeezed your waist, leaving you giggling. "I saved this for you." You held out a slice of apple and the horse gobbled it up. After scratching his nose, you climbed onto his back. Kayce handed you the blanket and basket before doing the same.
The darkness slowly settled in on the ride back and when you got back to the yard, the stars were starting to come to life. "Can I walk you to your door?"
"Yes," you smiled, taking the picnic basket and blanket from him so he could put his horse back in his stall for the night. When he finished his hand entwined with yours and you went inside.
"Thank you."
"You don't have to thank me, baby." He leaned his back against your doorframe and pulled you against him.
"Yes, I do," your hands slid over his shoulders and started playing with his hair, "the picnic, you being so amazing, all of it. It was the best date I've ever had."
"Anything for you, Letty."
You blushed. "And umm, thank you for being so patient with me."
His hand slid across your cheek. "I told you I'd wait no matter how long. You are one million percent worth it." Your cheeks darkened. He leaned down and kissed you long and softly.
"Goodnight, Kayce."
"Goodnight, Letty."
*****
You froze when your eyes landed on the blanket and the bouquet of daisies lying on it. "Kayc."
"Come on." He smiled and took your hand, leading you the rest of the way. "I had to go to town this morning and got them for you. That and this." Under the flowers was a chocolate bar that he handed you after you both sat down.
"Chocolate?"
"Before we went to the reserve to get the cows back, I asked you to watch Tate and I said I owed you. You said you like chocolate."
A soft smile formed. "You remembered."
"I remember everything when it comes to you."
"Thank you for the chocolate and flowers...for everything."
He leaned in. "You don't have to thank me. I would do anything for you." His hand slid across your cheek and into your hair, pulling you in for a kiss.
As the kiss carried on, it grew more heated. A memory of your ex suddenly slammed into you, taking over. "No! Stop! Stop!" You pushed him away and scrambled to your feet.
"Violet!" Kayce jumped up, slowly making his way over to your trembling frame. "Baby?"
You frantically looked around. He's not here. It's not him. It's Kayce. Tears started streaming from your eyes. "I-I'm sorry. I-"
"Hey, shh. Shh." He hesitantly reached for you and you burrowed into his arms. "It's okay. I got you." When your crying stopped, he ran a hand over your hair. "Letty, talk to me."
"It-it's nothing."
"That wasn't nothing." While he dried your cheeks, his eyes suddenly widened. "Someone...did someone r...r..." He couldn't make himself say rape but you knew what he meant. Your hands wrung together as you gave a small nod. "Just tell me one thing. Was it someone here, in Montana?"
"No. California."
"Your ex?"
"Y-yes."
He nodded slowly before his hands came up and cupped your face. "I will wait as long as you need, Letty."
"Thank you." You said quietly.
"Did you want to sit here for a bit or go back to the house?"
"Can we go back?"
"Of course. Whatever you want."
A small smile pulled at the corners of your mouth but it slowly faded. While you rode back, flowers and chocolate in hand, your thoughts were on Nick. The hell he had put you through and hell he would put you through if he found you.
"Want to have dinner with us?" Kayce asked after one of the ranch hands took his horse from him and you walked up onto the porch. "I would love it. So would Tate and everyone else."
"Umm, I'm not hungry. And, I have my laundry to put away. Don't tell Tate my clothes are still sitting in the basket because he always gets in trouble for not putting away his laundry right away." You smiled.
He smiled back. "My lips are sealed." The hand that was holding yours gently stopped you, turning you to face him. "Are you okay?"
"Mhm."
"Okay..."
"I'm fine, really." The hand that wasn't holding the gifts he got you came up and rested on his chest. You smiled softly when you heard Tate yell for him from the dining room. "Go eat."
"Want to play a board game or watch a movie with Tate and I later?"
Your small smile returned. "I think I'm just going to lie in bed and eat my chocolate."
The concern was still evident in his eyes but he didn't push. "Alright. I'll see you in the morning, baby. Sleep well." After giving you a kiss, he went to the dining room while you went to the hallway closet next to your room and got a vase.
When you set the daisies on your nightstand, the tears that you had been holding back started trickling down. By the time you leaned the chocolate bar against the sparkling glass vase and curled up on your bed, the trickle of tears had turned to a river. You buried your face in the pillow to muffle your sobs while memories of being with Nick filled your head.
*
"He raped her. He..." a harsh breath left Kayce's lips. "He raped her, dad."
"Shit."
Kayce looked over at John. "You said she told you a bit about her past. Did you know?"
"No. She never told me he raped her." Your boyfriend looked at him waiting for more. "She will tell you everything when she's ready."
"I want to kill him."
John took a sip of whiskey from his glass. "You and me both, son."
"I...I love her."
"I know you do." John smiled.
Meanwhile, you had been lying in bed trying to fall asleep for the last three hours. It was 1:30 in the morning but your mind was a jumbled mess of thoughts and memories.
After a few more minutes you threw the covers off and made your way down the hall. A light from the living room grabbed your attention as you made your way into the kitchen to make a cup of tea.
With peppermint tea in hand you went to the living room to turn the light off. "Oh." You froze when you saw Kayce and John sitting by the fireplace. "I thought everyone went to bed and forgot to turn the light off."
"What are you still doing up, baby?"
"I umm, I couldn't sleep so I got up to make some tea. Since there is someone in here I'll leave the light on. Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Violet." John said with a soft smile.
"Goodnight, Letty."
Five minutes later you were sitting in bed holding your half empty mug when there was a knock on your door. "Come in."
Kayce stepped into your room. "Hi." He walked up to the bed. "Can I lie with you for a while? If you don't want me to it's okay?"
"You can." You set you mug on the nightstand and moved over. Once he lay down, you curled up next to him.
“Is it okay if I stay until you fall asleep?"
"Can you stay all night?"
"Yeah, of course." He held you closer and kissed your forehead." Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Kayc." You nestled into him. A few minutes later you were sleeping peacefully.
The cowboy holding you was still awake though. "I am never going to let him touch you again, Violet. You have my word." He swore into your hair before placing a kiss in the same spot. He listened to you breathing softly before it finally lulled him to sleep.

Glass Houses: Jack Thurlow x Y/N Series CH 04 -> CH 05
"In my defense I thought you were commenting on my weight." "So you went with skinny 9th grade virgin?"
Tagging: @roryculkinluvr @thatsthewrongwallcraig @icarus-star @cc-luvr @madamemaximoff06 @shady-the-simp
Jack spent the entire day cleaning. Thankfully he was able to find a company that picked up all the donations and junk he had cleared out of his parents room but he didn't trust anyone to come in and clean. He never realized how much his family didn't need this much space until he had to be responsible for it.
The first time he was able to sit down and relax, it was late and he was surprised he hadn't passed out already. He lit a cigarette and sat on the window sill, letting the smoke flow out of the window as he took in the cool breeze. The sound of shuffling below caught his attention and he locked eyes with Y/n who was taking a night stroll wearing her scrubs.
"Hey Jack, how's your night going?" She asked with a smile.
"It's going about as well as expected when your days consist of gutting your childhood home." Jack mockingly held finger guns to his temple making Y/n laugh.
"Hopefully you've got friends to help you. That's a lot of house for one person to gut." Y/n took a long drag and Jack nodded.
"I'm not very social at the moment...or any moment really. I've been told I'm a particular taste." Jack thought about the last time he tried to go out with Shanda and her girlfriend. He had almost gotten into a bar fight and got two drinks thrown in his face. His personality was a bit abrasive but he couldn't it. His passive aggressive narcissism came across rude to most but to the mores sensitive crowd, he was just a prick.
"I'm pretty sure they have companies who work for assholes." Y/n teased.
"Hey I forgot to congratulate you the other day. You would never guess you had a baby." Y/n's face dropped.
"Excuse me?" She questioned.
"I've never known someone to lose the baby weight before the kids a year old. You look great." Jack didn't typically comment on a woman's appearance, especially to their face but he blamed the exhaustion of the day and him fighting sleep for his lack of self preservation. That and she was a beautiful woman.
"Coming from the guy who looks like a skinny 9th grade virgin." Jack's eyebrows went up. Y/n stood her ground. He was caught off guard by the insult but remembered how Cleo would get when someone commented on her weight when she was pregnant.
"Wow I think I may have fucked up, let me try this again. When I met your mom, she said she had just become a grandma. I assumed-" Jack watched Y/n gasp and cover her mouth.
"Fuck! You thought...I am so sorry. My brother's wife had the baby, not me." Y/n explained making Jack nod his head.
"Okay so then I didn't fuck up as much as you did. That makes me feel better, a little offended but better." Jack pulled a long drag from his cigarette and Y/n raked her hand through her hair embarrassed.
"I really am sorry. In my defense, I thought you were commenting on my weight." Y/n defended .
"So you went with skinny 9th grade virgin?" Jack laughed. No one had really called him anything other than the normal insults. Pretentious prick. Son of a bitch (which he couldn't deny). Fucking asshole. He admittedly lost more weight then he would have liked when he was in treatment. He was trying to find little things that would help get him back into better shape instead of just being skin and bones.
"I was going to go with school shooter but it's been a long day, felt too dark in today's climate." Y/n frowned but Jack took amusement in it. He actually enjoy conversing with her. She had a wit about her that made him want to hear her thoughts on random things.
"I got the same response when my parents were killed in a car crash and kept telling people how my dad was decapitated." Jack gestured to his neck and Y/n nodded.
"It's truly a shame you aren't more social in town. I think these oldies need to be shaken up a little more." Y/n and Jack were probably two of the only people under 40 in the neighborhood.
"I was going to offer my condolences but I admittedly didn't know your parents that well and I'm pretty sure a year post-death seems kind of disingenuous. Your parents seemed like decent people. I always enjoyed the sunflowers my mom would grow for your mom so she had good taste in flowers." Jack was pleasantly surprised that Y/n hadn't tried to console him or offer some fake sympathy for people she clearly didn't know well. She had become a breath of fresh air in this small town full of people acting as though they knew him personally.
"I appreciate your genuine solace." Jack finished his cigarette and considered lighting another but instead just took a deep breath.
"I'm sure the last year of your life has been a real dumpster fire taking over this monstrosity but I guess we're just those kind of children." Y/n pulled something from her pocket and put it to her lips, lighting it and taking a pull.
"Yeah I didn't think I would end up...taking a year off but I guess I needed the mental break from LA anyway. Trying to get this place in order is the current goal so if you're looking for someone else's shit, let me know." Jack caught a whiff of the smoke and his eyebrow cocked. She was clearly wearing scrubs but she was absolutely smoking a joint, which wasn't uncommon for Colorado but possibly taboo among the medical community.
"I feel your pain. When I first moved back I did at least 4 garage sales just to clear out some of my parents bullshit. How can old people have so much shit? Baby boomers completely missed the whole recycling trend." Jack hadn't considered doing a yard sale but his lack of social skills would probably just have him boxing it all up to donate anyway.
"Moving back into this house alone is slowly turning me into a minimalist. I don't know if their generation just thought they were going breed like rabbits or if they were just competing to see who would have the biggest house." Jack felt comfortable having such open conversation with her. He felt like he could actually keep a conversation without someone trying to offer sympathies or checking to see if he was on the verge of another psychotic break.
"It's tough being so young in a retirement community." Y/n joked with a smile. They shared a smile for a brief moment before Jack realized he was staring.
"I guess I will rephrase my previous statement, congratulations on becoming an aunt. That kid is going to have exemplary insults by the time they hit the school yard." Jack smirked earning a smile from Y/n.
"Thank you. I'll be sure to send him your way when he's old enough to start wearing trench coats." Y/n winked like she could go tit for tat with Jack and actually enjoy it. She had a feeling they had a similar sense of humor.
"I should get back. Ace waits by the door if no one takes him to bed." Y/n gestured towards the house and Jack sighed.
"Rub it in." Jack teased, fanning jealousy but truthfully he wouldn't mind that kind of comfort this evening.
"He misses you. It's weird, all he can talk about is the strange habits of the mysterious neighbor. Soon enough, he'll tell me all your secrets so hopefully you've never murdered anyone." Y/n wouldn't realize how that joke hit but Jack chuckled darkly.
"Just my dog." Y/n took it as a joke but Jack was grateful they shared a twisted sense of humor.
"Noted. Have a good night Jack." She gave him one last genuine smile and he gave her a wave.
"Good night." Jack watched her walk all the way to her house, walk up the porch and turn the outside light off. He felt a strange comfort knowing that she was so close by and didn't seem turned off by his dry wit and dark humor. He wouldn't call her a friend but she's a neighbor he doesn't mind having encounters with.

Let’s talk about the changed between white book laena to black show laena
Book leana had a pretty awesome life. She married at the age of 22 to a man she loved, traveled the world with him, had 2 babies and they lived happily on driftmark with her family together until she passed away at childbirth despite her loving husband doing everything he can to save her. + her husband remarried 6 months after her death.
Now let’s talk about show leana
She married daemon much younger than book laena, was neglected and unloved by him, was forced to live away from her beloved family and burned herself to death because “feminism” 🤡 only to have her husband sleep with another woman on her fucking funeral. And the showrunners claim they wanted to respect her character?????? Disgusting.
In the book laena is the only wife that daemon seemed to truly love. (Until nettles). He never cheated and they had a happy marriage. But when she’s black suddenly she’s the second choice to the white female lead. What a fucking joke. And then they absolutely spit on her by having her husband sleep with said white female main character on her funeral. This show treats its black characters like shit. I really don’t understand why people aren’t talking about this.
This shows deranged fandom tells you everything you need to know about the problematic way they treat black characters. We haven’t even got nettles’s casting yet. The most important dragon seed. Literally who gives a shit about the others? But I wonder why we have their castings but not the casting of the only canonically black character in the dance???? If nettles is not in season 2 I’m going to drop this show. If they’ll introduce the dragonseeds without nettles they are fucking disgusting.
All of this is why I criticize this shitty show and equally shitty fandom👏🏽
People try to act like you’re the crazy one for noticing how these changes affect the treatment of the characters, but nope fandom racism, more specifically fandom misogynoir, is real and it’s happening with HOTD.
Book!Laena was treated with love and respect, but the moment she became Black-ish she became worthless to both the showrunners and the fandom. All she's good for is to be a prop/placeholder. Hell, when she died people seemed more concerned about Vhagar, a dragon, rather than the woman who lit herself on fucking fire.
They made Laena into a stereotype just to make a crazed white woman’s death look better than it was and this demented ass fandom cheers it on.
Because she’s Black and not a cookie-cutter stereotype in the source material, Nettles' whole existence is a problem to these people and she must be cut, erased, reduced, etc.
They try to say she’s completely irrelevant. That the only reason people like her is because she's Black or out of spite, but I can think of a dozen white characters who don’t even come close to reaching her relevancy to the plot
This is why she’s always included where some characters like Ulf, Hugh, Sara Snow, Alys Rivers, Gwayne Hightower, and Silver Denys are omitted, and 5/6 of those characters are confirmed for s2. And I'm not trying to say none of these characters shouldn't be included(well we could do without 2 of them), but they aren't more important than her.
Nettles literally has all the qualities people usually like in characters(the ordinary girl who despite all odds does the unthinkable, she’s a survivor, she’s a final girl, she has one of if not the most powerful men in the realm willing to die for her, and she becomes a goddess like figure) yet she’s hated for it because she dares to be Black. They won't even try to relate to her or see her importance because she is Black.
They’d rather prop up psychos or mediocre flops just because they are white rather than ever admit that Nettles is an interesting and integral character to the Dance. She’s awesome. The man who created these freaking books that you claim to love and swear his word is law thinks she’s awesome and yet you want to deny that she’s awesome and has no real value because you’re scared shitless she’ll upstage your psycho(book!Missy Anne)/boring(show!Missy Anne) fave.
It’s nuts and like you, I won’t be watching s2 if Netty’s not there. They found time for a maid who shouldn't even be there, propped up Addam to the Gods, and gave Hugh an unnecessary sex scene, all while cutting Nettles out. Nope. I’ll skip straight to s3 cause I’m not dealing with this show's BS and blatant disrespect. It’s unacceptable!
