A good structure is something you can trust.
It relieves you from the burden of remembering and keeping track of everything. If you can trust the system, you can let go of the attempt to hold everything together in your head and you can start focusing on what is important: The content, the argument and the ideas. By breaking down the amorphous task of “writing a paper” into small and clearly separated tasks, you can focus on one thing at a time, complete each in one go and move on to the next one . A good structure enables flow, the state in which you get so completely immersed in your work that you lose track of time and can just keep on going as the work becomes effortless (Csikszentmihalyi, 1975). Something like that does not happen by chance.

Elective 2
Sculpture - Week 1
Idea Development
So in the start of the Sculpture Elective, we were with Michael and Sarah in the Studio and we were tasked with writing down as many verbs and actions associated with our project as possible on a large sheet.
Then we'd swap places with someone else and had to 'add' to someone else's list and in the final write the negatives of the actions in the list.

At the end then picked any verbs we felt we could use in our project. Could in what you wanted to make or how you wanted to make it.
For my choosen words were
Slither
Elevate
Dance (changed from worship)
Throw
Glide

Disrupt project 02/11/23
(Seminar)
I also, during the reading week, had watched the exploring ideas seminar.
I had not taken notes throughout watching this as I was in bed, watching before going to sleep.
But I had screenshotted one part(see below), as I felt it was very important and I feel too, it has helped me out with my disrupt project work.

Creating a quantity of ideas can eventually lead to one creating a great idea.
The lecturer showed us example of this, through public figures like Mozart and Einstein.
I also found it interesting to learn that to draw is to observe.
I have attached below, pictures from my sketchbook of my quick sketches. I drew most of them after watching this seminar, in the hopes of them helping me to form good ideas.

ok im going to #seriouspost for a second here. I don't think Harry Potter is a manifesto. I think it was a flawed passion project that millennials latched onto because of the fantasy of sticking it to their mean teachers and arbitrarily categorizing themselves (hogwarts houses; it's the thinking millennial's astrology). I think the fact that the series got popular when and how it did was very much a product of its time.
I don't think Harry Potter is the biggest symbol of JKR's bigotry. I think the most flagrant sign of that was how she responded to critics. I watched her become radicalized in real time. I watched how she doubled down on her racism when she was called out for the ways she promoted her tragically mid fantastic beasts movies. I watched her chase marginalized teenagers with a double digit follower count off of twitter for daring to criticize her thought process, and no one with any kind of power standing against her because she was the one who was paying them. This isn't to say Harry Potter is without flaws. This is to say she really didn't give a shit about that. Getting rich and powerful is a hell of a drug, and she had enough sycophants that she had no reason to care about what her critics were saying.
She was convinced that she was a martyr; a voice for the unheard; a leader for the ages, so of course her detractors were the bad guys. And I think we should take this to heart. We should see this as an example of how easy it is to get radicalized; if you think of yourself as a paragon of virtue, you are going to think that whatever you see as good and right is an objective fact. Most people don't know this, but the majority of terfs start out as trans allies. You are not immune to propaganda! You are not immune to falling into dangerous ideologies!!!
This is why the most important thing you can do as an activist is to listen. Do NOT think you're above being wrong; do NOT develop a god complex; do NOT form an identity out of being right all the time. Involve yourselves in the groups you claim to speak for. Listen to trans women; share resources that help trans women; familiarize yourself with the diversity of experiences that trans people have and the struggles they face.
No, none of you are as bad as JKR because you don't have her money or her power. You will likely never have the capacity for harm she does. But check yourselves. Do not affirm yourselves into thinking you always have the moral high ground. Watch yourselves; humble yourselves; check yourselves for signs of cult behavior and internalized prejudice. You are always learning. You will always be learning. Do not allow yourselves to get a power trip from brushing off marginalized voices.
#zee zee rants#if im talking out of my ass here ill delete the post idc i wont die on any hill#anyway if people you're propping up are more of a symbol to you than a group of people you are susceptible to developing prejudiced ideas#based on fearmongering instead of reality#also its funny that the more bigoted she got the more mid her works became#jesus christ i dont think even she has the funds to get people to continue the fantastic beast movies#i think only her most diehard fans are going to watch the harry potter reboot#anyway#harry potter tw#jk rowling tw

My Chosen Idea for My project
I Chose the idea of a drone based combat game, with you fighting drones in an arena, with multiple weapons you need to manage your ammo and health while a relentless horde of drones come to attack you, I decided to have the beta name of this game to be called 'relentless drone barrage', not the best name but I'm not sure what to call a came like this so I went with that.
I Chose not to have a shop as I feel like it will cram up the drop pool of the Drones, with them already having ammo and health pickups, having coins would just make too many things you would have to manage, so I scrapped this idea.
I want to have some simple animations for this project, but I'm not sure how these will work because I have no experience with animation in games. But I would like to give it a go for my final project.

Research - Chosen Idea
I decided to choose the Time-Trial Delivery Game as the idea for this project. This idea was chosen over the others as I believed it provided a lot of new opportunities for me to learn, with plenty of more technical features. as well as a solid core gameplay loop that could be easily adapted if the idea changes later.
While some other game ideas might be more manageable for the time constraints, I feel that they might not push the project far enough and may end up limiting the possibilities of it. I also felt that I wanted to differentiate this project from my previous ones, and both the bunker & hotel builder are very similar to my previous final project, which was a city builder.
Proposal
I plan for the game to be third person, three dimensional, hoverbike time-trial racing game. I will create the project from a base unreal template, to allow for a smaller file size.
From there I will develop a timer system and checkpoint system that allows the player to get their time from start to finish. This will provide the base for me to create an online leaderboard system.
Target Audience
My game will be very simple, with a clear goal, and no story allowing to be open to any age range . With accessibility features planned it could even allow much younger and older people to understand the controls and aim.
However, I feel that aiming the game towards a younger audience of kids and teenagers may be better due to the games simplicity. I also feel that it is the target audience of the racing genre as a whole, and while I could differentiate myself and target the game towards a more mature audience, I have no idea how to go about this and a smalll pool of games to research to assist me in achieving this.
Moodboard
As the idea initially stemmed from my interest in the cyberpunk genre, and because of the absurdity of a flying bike, I plan to base the game in a similar genre and artistic style.
I would like for the game to be stylised, and not realistic, as I really like stylised artwork and it also lends itself to the younger target audience.

Idea Behind the Animation: "From Wilt to Growth"🌿
The central idea behind the animation, titled "From Wilt to Growth", revolves around the themes of recovery, personal growth, and resilience in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. It tells the story of an individual who navigates the emotional challenges of isolation and loneliness during the lockdown and, through patience and self-reflection, gradually transitions back into the world with hope and renewed connections. The character’s journey is symbolized through the growth of a once-wilted plant, offering a subtle metaphor for emotional healing, rebirth, and the return to normalcy.
The animation focuses on two main ideas: personal emotional recovery and environmental change.
It uses the growth of a plant to symbolize the protagonist's emotional healing, moving from loneliness to reconnection with others. As the plant blooms, it reflects the world's recovery after the pandemic, including a decrease in pollution and the rebuilding of human connections. The plant's transformation visually parallels the shift from isolation to renewal in both the environment and personal life.🌱🌍

Soft Gestures for Comfort
Bringing them a blanket when they’re curled up on the couch.
Whispering, "It’s okay, I’m here," when they wake up from a bad dream.
Stroking their hair gently when they’re lying on your lap.
Running a warm bath for them after a tough day.
Holding them close and saying, "I’ve got you," when they’re upset.
Preparing their favorite comfort food when they’re feeling low.
Turning off their alarm and letting them sleep in when they’re exhausted.
Reading their favorite book to them before bed.
Playing their favorite soothing music to help them relax.
Just sitting in silence with them, letting them know your presence is their safe space.

Week 3 - Narrative of the senses
Monday 8th April,

During the Easter break, I've been thinking about how to construct my ceramics.
I'm excited to start making it!
This morning, we talked about our ideas for the project and I'm getting new ideas like exploring different umbrellas in different weather/environment conditions and states with their colours and patterns.
Then I took pictures of different umbrellas from reception for primary sources/inspiration.
Afternoon, I started to experiment on the ways to make clay umbrellas with hand built, mould, pinch pot etc.
On my way to the bus stop, it was still raining, and I happened to come across an umbrella that's been destroyed by the rain and wind! - primary source.
