His family is playing a board game at dining room table in their lake house when you come around the corner with a deadpan look as you say, “Jack Rowden Hughes.”

Their voices immediately stop, Quinn and Luke mumbled ‘Oh shit’ in sync with one another as Jack’s eyes grow wide and worried. His parents slowly slip away, grabbing their other children as they give their middle son a look to wish him luck, but to also tell him he is on his own. Though they don’t go far, just outside the dining room so they can still hear the two of you.

“Baby,” He rushes out as he quickly stands so he can walk towards you, “What did I do? Is it because I accidentally woke you up too early? You said it was okay! I even went and got you coffee. What did I do?”

You don’t say anything, trying to bite back the back on your face as you raise your eyebrows at him. He instantly takes your hands in his own and gives them a gentle squeeze before he continues, “Whatever it is, I’m sorry. I promise I’ll do whatever I can to make it up to you. Please tell me what I did.”

You can’t keep the charade up anymore and you break into a smile, shaking his hands out of yours so you can wrap your arms around his neck. His look of panic flickers to confusion, yet he still instinctively places his hands on your hips and pulls you closer to him.

“I just wanted to say hi,” You giggle.

His jaw drops, but you can see the relief wash over his face as he presses his fingers into your flesh. His lips turn downward into a frown as he says, “Babe, that is not funny! I thought you were seriously mad at me. That’s mean.”

“You think I’d do that in front of your family if I was mad at you?”

“If it was bad enough, absolutely! I was fully prepared to get on my knees and beg,” He shakes his head before slightly leaning forward so his lips are hovering near your ear, “And I still can, if you want me to.”

Originally I was going to do all of the asks from franchises that I hadn't written for before first, but then I saw this and remembered that Jack didn't have any stand-alone content on my blog yet, so I just had to right this injustice. —Benny🐰

🍐  Jack first met you at the orientation ceremony. He sort of already felt comfortable around you because of your canine traits and the way you carried yourself with such seriousness and determination. The white-haired boy also thought you smelled kind of nice; like the ocean and water-logged wood, but there was also a bit of sweetness in there that he couldn't quite identify. As orientation ended and all the Savanaclaw students made their way to the mirror chamber, Jack's curious eyes stayed glued to your cloaked form.

🍐 Coincidentally, you and Jack ended up sharing a dorm room, how nice for him. He was a bit shocked when you told him right off the bat that if he needed help or just someone to talk to you would readily lend an ear. The fact that he was bunked with such a supportive person was incredibly relieving for the wolf-eared boy. While it would take him a little while to open up to you more, considering you just met, Jack would be sure to act on your offer in the future.

🍐  Jack loves exercising with you! After learning about your previous status as a general before your enrollment in the NRC, he requested to know your exercise routine during that time, to which you happily agreed. You both have a habit of waking up at the crack of dawn and going for a run which made you decide to ask him to accompany you instead of heading out separately. Your skills with a bow and arrow also caught Jack's attention, often watching you practice and occasionally catching glimpses of a certain weird Pomefiore third-year hiding in the bushes.

🍐 During one particularly hot day, you and Jack ended up staying in your shared dorm room after class instead of going outside or to the dorm's indoor gym to exercise; far too hot to will yourselves to move. This is when the wolf beast-man learned of your shared habit of your extra appendages giving away your emotions, your orange-brown and white ears drooping with exhaustion from the heat. When Jack suggested going to the dorm kitchen and making smoothies, he had to hold back a chuckle at how your ears perked up and how your tail began to sway. Although, when you saw where his gaze was directed you grew embarrassed and covered your butt with a pillow.

🍐 Speaking of sweet things, Jack discovered that his dorm mate had a fondness for sweets, he remembered you mentioning that you didn't get them very often while you were a general. He actually whipped up some pear jam on toast for you once to see what you thought about the taste and was happy that he found a fellow pear enjoyer in you. You did tell him that your favorite fruit was something called lavender melon, a tree fruit that was native to the cluster of islands that you grew up on. The fruit was on his mind for a while after that, Jack may or may not have made plans to eat it with you in the future.

VERY GOOD QUESTION- I know my answer should be rather straightforward but I feel I have to put some context to my answers since they may seem contradictory/paradoxical otherwise, so bear with me-

Sammy x Norman : Well. I think that one was pretty obvious, anyone who's seen more than 3 of my posts knows that I'd die for these two. They're just so PERFECT for each other, from their complementary personalities to the fact that their relationship allows us to delve deeper into batim's historical and social context. Sammy and Norman have one of the few relationships that develop the most during the game's lore : Norman originally complains vehemently about Sammy's frenetic behavior, only to end up lamenting to Buddy and Dot how 'Sammy isn't the same anymore'. What's interesting about this statement is that he says it in relation to Sammy's strange behavior : clearly, the two men have grown close enough for Norman to differentiate Sammy's extravagant habits from his ink-influenced behavior.

Furthermore, Sammy is a very gray character morally, a perfectionist who is extremely socially maladjusted (surely due to the fact that he's coded on the spectrum and autism wasn't properly diagnosed at the time), naturally ostracizing him. For his part, Norman comes from a rural background (which surely earns him the animosity of the people at the studio, given the historical context and the fact that he could very well be poc) and also seems ill at ease socially : to me, it's fascinating to see two characters excluded from their peers because of differences they can't change (being autistic or poc and gay) getting closer to each other, to the point where Sammy, who is deeply misanthropic, naturally compliments Norman by describing him as very bright. To me, Norman is the perfect partner for Sammy : ready to apprehend him as he is, since he's completely free of social conventions, without taking any shits from him.

I think Sammy and Norman can really get the best out of each other, during a historical period when being different was strongly proscribed. I think I'd have trouble enjoying Batim as much without their dynamic at its heart (considering how narratively rich it is) : Norman is Henry's confidant, Sammy is Joey's, both remain morally gray deuteragonists fundamentally opposed to the ink machine, while remaining fascinated by its powers. And who wouldn't love a good old enemies to lovers ending tragically with the unwitting murder of one by the other ? After all, Norman's main flaw is that he's too curious for his own good, and it was Sammy who inevitably led him to his doom..

Allison x Tom : what more can I add. She's everything. He's just Tom. I've always been drawn to characters/ships with a vibe completely opposite to the vibe of the work they originally came from, and the 'turning poison into positivity' energy that Tom and Allison bring to Batim has always fascinated me. In a world as tragic as their own, I find it touching to see these two find beauty in all the ugliness and manage to ask themselves 'what if we were happy after all ?' It's really striking and brings a narrative richness to the work, since they directly mirror what failed with Sammy and Susie : Allison is perfect, but that was never what was at stake in Tom's eyes. Tom was looking for humanity, not perfection, and he managed to go beyond the image of the muse to discover a friend, unlike Sammy with Susie. They're literally Romeo and Juliet but, well... Not dead.

Joey x Henry/Henry x Linda : oh boy. These three... Let me get it straight right away : Henry and Linda are perfect for each other. She's exactly what he needs to be happy : she's present, patient. There's no denying that he loves her immensely. But Joey... oh Joey is undoubtedly Henry's soul mate. The subtlety is that Joey can't bring him the stable happiness Linda can : Joey tugs at him, pushes him over the edge. He knows exactly what to do to push him beyond his own limits. The love Joey offers Henry is an uncomfortable but unconditional one, one that would allow Henry to go beyond what he thinks he's capable of achieving because no one knows Henry better than Joey ! And let's be honest, Batim only exists because Joey refuses to move on, to live his dream without Henry in it. He's stuck in unrequited love and refuses to learn to live with it. And that's the tragedy of this trio : Henry sincerely loves Linda but is truly himself with Joey, which prevents him from hating OR loving him (And Joey exploits this information by remaining extremely toxic and convincing himself that he can wear him down lmao). Henry is stuck with this dilemma : Existing peacefully with Linda or living painfully with Joey. And that's why I love the dynamic of this love triangle : because there are no solutions that will satisfy everyone.

Joey x Sammy : okay, don’t get me wrong : these two are HORRIBLE for each other. Does Sammy periodically want to quit just to piss Joey off? Yes. Isn't Joey's fascination with Sammy intimately tied to his refusal to forget Henry, who was a genius like Sammy? Yes. Nevertheless, it's impossible for me to read The Illusion of Living without feeling embarrassed and like I'm reading Joey's diary : whether you ship them or not, Joey is practically canonically smitten with Sammy. I sincerely don't think Joey and Sammy can sustain a healthy relationship with each other, but oh boy, surely that won't stop me from exploiting their bizarre obsessive love-hate relationship, where it's hard to determine whether they're going to throw hands or make out.

How do you see the first year after Vlad x Danny wedding? (Let's consider, they have married when Danny was 20)

As addition, whom can Vlad invite for the wedding? I know it depends on is it the ghost or the human wedding but anyway.

Would their wedding be a secret? Or headlines would shout, "One of the richest men has married... on a guy!" ? (Alt. "Phantom and Mayor Masters' relationship is confirmed: THEY ARE GETTING MARRIED!")

🏆 Vlad is a showy guy when it comes to public opinion (e.g., bragging about his charitable works, anything that stokes his popularity), but he’s also extremely private about his personal life. For this reason, I think he’d keep his wedding to Danny secret and simple. Marriage license, officiator, small gathering of maybe five people, I do, I do, and done. Light refreshments, champagne and oysters, a small cake. Ceremony performed in his backyard or—perhaps more appropriately—Lambeau Field, home stadium of the Green Bay Packers. Maybe a few fireworks as a surprise. Nothing too wild. 

👻 Vlad doesn’t seem to have the best opinion of—or relationship with—the ghosts in the Ghost Zone, so I don’t see Skulker or the Vultures getting an invite, or a Ghost Zone wedding happening at all.

💍 Whether Jack or Maddie approve of this wedding is the big question. I honestly can’t see them ever in a million years approving of their former college friend marrying their only son—unless they were aware of both Vlad and Danny being half ghosts.

“Your son is never going to die,” Vlad tells them gently, maybe during the meeting where he asks for Jack and Maddie’s blessing to marry Danny. “Forever is a long path for Daniel to travel alone. But it doesn’t have to be. Not if you allow me to be with him. I have the means and the resources to see that he is always taken care of. I have a raft of investments locked in place that will ensure my fortune perpetuates for the next several hundred years. With me, Daniel will always have a roof over his head, a place to call home, and someone who loves him. Dearly. Until the end of the time. I mean that in the most literal sense.”

Jack and Maddie are stunned silent for several moments.

“What’s the point of asking us?” Jack finally mutters. “Once Maddie and I die, you can do whatever you want. We won’t be able to stop you.”

“It matters to Daniel. And I love him. That’s why I’m asking you.”

They still don’t like it, but facts are facts, and scientists appreciate that more than they do good intentions. Another thing they appreciate is truth, and Vlad’s soft words and earnest face have convinced them of his honesty.

Jack and Maddie share a tearful look, clasping each other’s hands, before turning to Vlad.

“Okay,” Maddie croaks. “Just—promise us he’ll stay in school.”

“At least an Associate’s degree,” Jack adds.

“Don’t turn him into a spoiled brat.”

“Trade school certificate, bare minimum.”

A baffled pause, then Vlad laughs. “You have my word. By the end of the century, Daniel will have more degrees than a thermometer.”

The Fentons release a pair of relieved sighs.

They can handle their son being an immortal entity, but not an uneducated one.

Quinn -> Quinn had been at the bookstore as he hunted for one specific book he'd had his eye on for a long time. He was scanning the various tables they had set out, his eyes reading the small signs they had until he briefly faltered over the one titled "Spice up your life". He admittedly got a little flustered, but he couldn't stop himself from looking at the books just to see if you owned any. However, he quickly got embarassed and moved on.

When he had gotten home a little bit later, he saw you tucked in your corner of the couch with a book in hand as you your gaze was unwavering from the pages in front of you. His eyes quickly darted to the cover and he nearly choked on his own spit. He instantly recognized it as one of the books the store had labeled as "spicy", and the way your face was red and your lip was pulled between your teeth told him that you were in the middle of a scene that earned it that title.

"What book is that," He asks, setting his bag on the table as he walks towards you.

"Just some silly romance book," You answered, briefly glancing at him with a small smile.

"Read a little bit to me," He tries, taking a seat right next to you.

Your head snaps towards him, your eyes slightly wide as you close the book and say, "You won't like it. It's not your thing."

He notices the way your chest was rapidly rising and falling, and he knew you felt like you had been caught. To him, you had no reason to be embarassed, but he'd be lying if he said the way you were looking at him didn't make him want to take you then and there.

"You sure it's not," He quirked his eyebrow, carefully taking the book from your hands and placing it on the table, "How about we test it out ourselves? See how much I like it then."

Jack -> With Jack just having surgery on his shoulder, there wasn't a whole lot for him to do the first month outside of his physical therapy. It was a lot of lounging around, watching tv, him being essentially attached to your hip when he could be.

The two of you didn't have anything planned for the day, and the house was empty now with Luke gone. After you had brought Jack home from his appointment, he had gone upstairs to take nap. Initially, you had gone up and laid down with him, but after about twenty minutes of you not falling asleep, you silently slipped out of bed and went downstairs with a book.

You heard the stairs creaking, telling you that Jack had woken up from his nap, but you were too engrossed in your book to look away. The main characters had finally given in to their unyielding desires, and you were not about to stop reading now. You could faintly hear the sound of Jack's tired voice calling your name, and when you didn't answer you felt the slight dip of the cushion next to you.

"Babe," He whined in your ear, planting his hand on the pages of your book and gently pushing it down, "You came down here to read about people getting it on instead of just waking me up?"

You couldn't help but let out a quiet giggle as he pouted, his eyes still drooping from his nap. You turned your hips so you were facing him, taking in the way his hair was a mess on his head and his cheeks were slightly flushed. Careful to not bump his shoulder, you climbed onto his lap and laced your hands behind his neck. His hand instantly found purchase on your hip as you lean down, your lips hovering over his.

"Well, you're awake now," You pointed out, smug smirk on your face before closing the small gap between you.

Luke -> Luke knew you loved to read. In fact, it was often him who was buying whatever new book you had expressed interest in reading. He was never a big reader himself, so he typically always left you to your own when you told him you were going to read. He would ask questions about the books you read, and he never thought much of it when you almost stumbled over your words when you explained it to him.

You were in the shower when Luke noticed the book on your nightstand, a dozen colored tabs sticking from its pages. He hadn't seen you do that to any of your books before, and he couldn't help but grow curious. He carefully picked the book up in his hands, flipping through the pages that you had bookmarked. His eyes were scanning the words on one of the pages that you had stuck a red tab to, and what he saw made his face flush.

He kept reading, his eyes widening more and more the longer he went on. You stepped out of the bathroom, your towel loosely hung around you as your eyes settled on Luke. You let out a started gasp when you saw the book in his hands, rushing towards him to rip it out of his hands as you avoid his gaze.

"Luke! Why were you reading that," You breathe out, moving around him to shove the book under your pillow, "You don't even like books!"

"You had all those little highlighter things sticking out and I got curious," He shrugs, stepping towards you to pull you into his arms, "So, that's what you read about, huh?"

"Stop, this is so embarassing," You groan, letting your head fall onto his chest.

"I was thinking," He reached up to carefully take your chin in his hand and tilt your head so you were looking at him, "We try page 115. It had your little red things all over it."

"But that's the one where they...," Your voice trails off, swallowing thickly as you keep your eyes on him.

"I know," He subtly smirks, "Guess we're finally putting those to use, yeah?"

AAHH I LOVE YOUR LATEST ARTBOF THE TTS AU FEATURING ELSA AND ANNA!! Everyone's coronation outfits are stunning, especially Jack's suit! Love Cass staying on brand and ruining other people's parties lol. Anna bashing a sentient cake with a pitchfork while bemoaning how much she wanted to eat it is totally something she'd do. And what's this I hear about Jack and Elsa taking a trip to Ahtohallan together? What sort of things do they discover there? More moon stone lore?

What I came up with is the answer to the question: how does Jack find out he has the future Moonstone? I already established that he gets some funky visions in the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow that hint at that.

So Jack starts having this big doubt, but he doesn't know what to do with it until he meets Elsa, who is a spirit. (Tangent: in this specific time there are no Guardians yet which I know doesn't make a lot of sense timeline-wise but I want to pretend Tangled happened before them so it's easier for me)

Luckily Elsa knows the perfect place to get some answers about Jack's past and the two go to Ahtohallan. (Perfect moment for a song AND a line from Jack about how Elsa doesn't need to worry about him freezing since, well, he already died once)

(Also his suit gets messed up in the cake fight and that's my excuse for giving him pretty clothes made by Elsa. Because I have 0 self control)
