Hood remained silent, even as he clenched the gun tightly in his hand. He hadn't even seen a hint of green portals or blond elfs but 200 witnesses couldn't all be wrong.

All of them had stated that a white haired meta with a gas mask was working with a blond elf with a leaf mask and that they had been the ones kidnapping the kids and teens of Gotham.

Jason had heard stories of fairies snatching kids and infants, sometimes swapping them out with a sickly one of thier own. But there were no trades that Jason knew of. Only missing kids.

Hell, all of the biggest child gangs around Crime Alley and the Narrows were gone.

As in gone gone. Not a single member was left nor any trace of where they could have been taken to. As much as he hated to admit it, he might need to ask for help from the Justice League Dark...

Link stared down at the kids from his rooftop perch.

They looked...cleaner. Happier. They had gained a healthy amount of weight, no longer stick thin and weak looking. They had season appropriate clothing without holes and others hidden away in chests and armours for the coming seasons far off from now.

His spirit friend, Phantom, had panicked a bit after he realized what they were doing was trafficking, but calmed down once he pointed out that these kids would have a much better life in Hyrule than they would have had in the rotting trashpit that was Gotham.

If they would have lived much longer at all

Still, thier presence here was mutually beneficial. Hyrule had lost over 80% of its population in the Great Calamity and they were no where close to regaining the population they once had. All of thier forts, training areas, ect were specifically targeted and destroyed in the attacks and gardians and monsters were left in the ruins to ensure they could not rebuild what was lost

Which led to the bigger issues at hand. All the empty occupations.

The castle, and thus castle town, were ground zero for the disaster that wiped out the Hylian peoples. With it many businesses and trades were lost. Hyrule had few soldiers and those they did have desperately needed armor, weapons and training.

That wasn't all. Hudson construction had attempted to repair Castle town and eventually the castle, but they were wood workers, not stone masons. They knew little of the craft that was needed.

There were lessons and information in the castle archives covering most of the jobs and trades, as well as how to proform them, but the princess didn't see it as a priority. They didn't have the people necessary to teach these crafts and the castle and town surrounding wasn't really a priority anyway. Not with all the people who still needed help around the kingdom.

Phantom helped a lot too. Other than helping them build towns for the kids (the child gangs actually really liked having a town all to themselves) he did a lot of other random jobs around the kingdom, much like Link himself.

Unfortunately, his next trip to Gotham lead to a run in with the "Red Hood" and the phrase, "Was that a fucking fruit grenade?!" Link did not know what the word "Fucking" meant but the Hood man would not tell him. He is learning a lot of new words from this guy, words that Phantom appearently didn't like cause he loudly scolded Red Hood like a naughty child the first time they met. It was hilarious to see this tiny 15 year old tell off a giant tank of a man.

Link couldn't see the mans expression due to the odd red helm the man wore, but he could tell he was cowed, even if just a bit. Then he began speaking to someone who wasn't there while pressing his finger to the side of his helm where his ear should be. Is Red Hood ill? Does he have a mind sickness like the ones Phantom told him of when describing his parents? Or is this something Link doesn't yet understand...either way he doesn't think he's getting more children for Hyrules future in this trip...or anytime soon if those ominous masked people landing on the rooftops around them had any say in the matter.

We haven’t seen Buck in a cut off tee since his posturing at Eddie in the firehouse gym wayyyyyy back in 2x01

I don’t know why but that fact and the fact that this might very likely be from ep 100 is giving me how it started how it’s going vibes - there’s just something about the idea of them playing into Bucks jealousy and it making him do stupid things (like sprain someone’s arm or whatever injury he causes).

It’s the combination of the cut off tee that connects to the jealous posturing, the water theme and the construction on sunset theme all being put together in one scene that has me feeling things.

I think Will should use a gun in season 5, but only to show character development.

Since his initial instinct when first saw the demogorgan in s1 was to use a gun, now that everyone is going to be fighting Vecna with weapons, I think that he'll pick up a gun again as others such as Nancy and Hopper will have one and he'll feel like he has to use it in order to save his loved ones. It'll be similar to Jonathan in s1 who clearly has bad memories of using a gun, but tries it anyway as he cares more about saving Will (although I think that Will will be a better shot just so he does use a gun in s5).

However, the point that has been made many times about how learning to shoot is linked to trauma and that Will doesn't have to be made more masculine in order to be a 'stronger' and him liking shooting is kind of ooc anyway.

As guns are linked to Will trying to be a 'real man' and covering up his queer identity by doing something overtly masculine, I think that whilst Will will initially use guns, he won't find them very useful, as Vecna seeks to expose the status quo and destroy it ("conformity, that's what's killing the kids"- or however that line goes) so Will fighting Vecna with something traditionally masculine that he doesn't find strength and power in- which is why Nancy's guns and El's powers have worked for them, they find power in them- won't succeed.

Will will have to find his own way to defeat Vecna and it will likely parallel him truly accepting his queer identity (which honestly seems to be some kind of powers, whether they're light, creation, or an extension of his link to the UD).

- He knows something is wrong the day he wakes up and his wings are a little darker and less alive, he moves around the house and he can feel them but he can't really and he can feel the panic building in the centre of his chest and he would like to scream buy his throat hurts too much and he's coughing blood and Mav isn't around and-;

- He wakes up in a hospital bed, his wings spread but they still aren't there. The first faces he sees are Ron's and the second Bradley's and he wants to ask why I can't feel my wings- but the oxygen mask doesn't leave him much space or motion and Ice is asleep before he can think;

- He comes back and, this time, Mav's there sleeping cuddling on his chest and the doctors are looking at them both from the end of the bad. The man says it's cancer and in your throat but it's early on its early stage, we're positive you're going to be okay. Ice smiles, but his wing doesn't twitch. Hours later, after all the exams are said and done Mav's fingers are running through his hair and his wings. Sleep comes in the form of sweets words and utterly scary silence from his side;

- Chemo doesn't take his hair away but his feathers are the first victim and the second is his back because suddenly he can't walk straight for how much they weigh. Slider comes up with a solution that's really something Wolf and Sunny are working on for a parachute and Mav thought it could be done so I did the math? It helps, it really does. But it doesn't make Ice feel better;

- The first time he tries to fly again it feels like beginning ten again, his mom just out of the door and him not know what to do. He tries to fly, but his feet are staccato from the ground no more than three feet when he falls. He never touches the ground because Bradley is there to save him, Jesus dad are you trying to hurt yourself?!, and Maverick is kissing him softly for hours after that. He doesn't try to fly again, he is kinda basking in the doting. He promises Baby Goose he's going to take him up once he's okay again and his boy, a man these days, hugs him strongly enough to let him melt;

- The operation comes and goes, Mav is yet again out for deployment and his voice is almost gone. The doctor says the keyword is almost. Seven weeks after Ice is talking with Mav over a video chat and Badley is making dinner when his left wing twices a little. Mav realizes before Ice and the man almost don't get why his husband is crying. It's the first step and it gives them a little more hope to hold to;

- The left wing doesn't move for almost a year after that. The right doesn't either. Healing is bone exhausting and Ice feels like curling under the sun and not moving anymore, just to feel relief from everything for a little while;

- It takes two years of slow, sometimes painful and sometimes not, and steady learning how to live again not in the prospect of having died on his back and then-then his wings start to move again. They aren't strong as they were before cancer but their weight is everyday lighter on his back and when people, Mav or Slider or Baby Goose, touch them he can finally feel it. In some ways, Ice feels like this is the moment he's reborn, more than when the doctor said he was in remission. It starts with a slight flicker of his wings and, not even a moment after, he's three feet from the ground and not falling;

- What follows is one of the funniest weeks of his life because now he can go around his house and the base without walking and creeping behind people before asking random questions and enjoying people's reactions. Mav starts leaving chairs around the house because they can both have fun and he loves kissing his husband being just a little taller, enough to make Ice want to fly swing just a little higher.
