23-201 Commitment #5
Today’s Mandala Message: Just Start
This week I’m working through Principle #35 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “99% is a Bitch; 100% is a Breeze”. I set my intention today to ponder a small step I can take to get started on one of my projects.
As it turns out, today is the anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s first step on the moon and his famous quote about how his first…

GALTx eNews: Plan For The Worst, Do It For Your Pups!
We have written before about the need to make plans for your pets in the event you become unable to care for them due to death or disability. But we know it's a difficult issue and that many may need another reminder.
GALT's adoption contract requires adopters to return their hounds to GALT if the adopter is unable to continue to provide care for any reason. But, you probably need a more detailed plan for your hounds' transition back to GALT if you are unavailable. For instance, especially if you are a singled pet parent, you still need to make arrangements for someone to have access to your home to feed and water your hounds until GALT can be contacted and arrangements for transport made. Make sure your emergency contact knows GALT's contact information, the details about any medications your pets need, and the general care procedures for your hounds to make it as easy on everyone as possible.
If you have pets for which an adoption group isn't available to help with re-homing, you might want to consider which of your friends or family could give your pets a new forever home and talk to them about it in advance to make sure they are willing. Some people even work with their attorney to leave financial resources for the pets' care. If no one you know is in a position to give your pets a new forever home, GALT will likely be able to help with sighthounds and sighthound mixes within our mission statement. For other pets, research adoption groups in advance so that you can leave your emergency contact direction as to where your pets can go to have the best care possible and the best chance at a second forever home.
We hope your pets never find themselves without you, but a little planning can go a long way towards their well being if they do. Plan for the worst, do it for your pups!

Saw a post about helping people that used the analogy of "if you see someone fall off a cruiseship and theres a life preserver ring on the wall next to you do you walk away or do you throw them the life preserver? Of course you throw them the life preserver." And i dont want to add to or tag the post with any sort of correction because its literally not the point at all but i am desperate to say that the first thing they teach you when you work on a cruise ship is that if someone falls overboard you Do Not Look Away
If theres a life preserver nearby but you have to turn your back to get it, tough luck. If theres someone nearby who can't hear you but you could run and get them, absolutely not. You see someone go overboard you point at them and never ever let them out of your sight because looking away even once could mean losing them forever, so you just have to trust that someone will hear you scream for help but you cant for any reason look away
And maybe that adds to the life preserver metaphor somehow but mostly i just need you to know if you spot someone in the water you point at them and you watch them close and you scream for help

Mystra showed him the secrets beneath the veils. The gossamer veils first, draped across the Weave. The delicate veils next, draped across her body. 'Chosen One' she whispered, as she slipped them off completely.
poor gale :'(
- the dialogue is from ea gale's explanation about his folly
- i kinda like that she ended up looking like a mother-of-pearl inlay lacquerware!
- oh this was a subconscious choice, but Gale is sitting in seiza which is a posture for showing respect especially to elders. it's also known to be a painful position to sit in for extended periods of time, which is why it was sometimes used as a method of (morally dubious) punishment. however, experienced people can maintain this posture for much longer. food for thought :-)
- (edit: deleted this point bcs it didn't really make sense + detracted from the art a little;;)
