The fact that Junior Year didn't at all challenge the way ANY system is set up is insane to me.
In the first half of the season I kept telling people the solution to Adaine's money problems wouldn't be Fabian buying her shit for her, because Brennan - DECOLONIAL PHILOSOPHER THAT HE IS - would never construct a scenario in which the solution to a ruinous lack of funds would be to get your rich friend to pay it off for you. This was just the foundation of my argument that Fabian literally, in-universe, did not have access to enough money to do that, because BLeeM usually plugs those holes and that seemed to be essentially the point of kicking Hilarial and Gilear off-screen for most of the season, but put that aside. The point is, it was clearly a critique of the system.
Right?
Because I assumed the solution would in some way be either changing the system or breaking free of it. Part of Adaine's problem is capitalism in general, but most immediately it's the financial demands the school system makes of her.
And then...the solution is not that. The solution is that she yells at her bosses to start paying her for being the Oracle, and Fabian beats someone in a dance contest so they do it. Problem solved. It's fine that Aguefort, which prides itself to an insane degree about what an anarchic madhouse it is for all the real freaks who want to just reach out and take life by the horns, requires you buy literal barrels of diamonds to be a wizard. That's fine.
The problem was that Adaine didn't have a fortune, not that she needed a fortune in the first place.
And it's wild because exactly that's something I liked about A Starstruck Odyssey. Obviously, Starstruck is an existing IP, and there wasn't a lot of room to just revolutionize galactic society overnight, but thematically it only enhanced the season's thrust to have everyone's problems be tied to money and for them to get past them by inventively striking a fortune. It was essentially taking this mildly grimdark capitalist hellhole and being like "okay, we'll play by your rules, assholes" and by the end it felt like there was a heavy tone of irony to the celebration of The Ball Rolling Up. Like you were meant to notice and be aware that the crew of the Wurst basking in their newfound riches was good for them personally but also a fucked-up reflection on how the setting operates.
And there was little tiny baby steps towards acknowledgement of systemic issues in JY that seemed promising, but all ultimately fizzled out.
Fig being overwhelmed by her responsibilities as a working musician and owner of a part of Hell? She orders her demonic underlings and indentured souls to help her put on a hella sweet concert and she goes quintuple platinum and her old agent is totally seething.
Gorgug is being failed by an educational structure that won't allow and doesn't even want him to succeed in the way he aspires to? Zac rolls insanely well so no he isn't, he's doing great, everyone should take four times the coursework.
Riz has to do a ton of shit to get into college because as a poor person he has to run to where others walk? Jokes are occasionally made about him being in a lot of clubs but that's never once examined or otherwise touched on between the the third and final episode, with the resolution in the epilogue being his mom going "hey kiddo wherever you end up you'll do great, just as long as you get enough sleep and take regular breaks to eat ice cream!".
Fabian trying to live up to the pressure of his legacy and maintaining his social status at school? Bill has a genuinely moving conversation with Fabian in the finale, indisputably one of the highlights of the season and a moment that in spite of everything I found incredibly powerful, where he tells him that he would love him even if he weren't a Maximum Legend, but it ends on "maybe we can have both" because as Brennan himself noted Lou was rolling so well that it was actively strangling the theme of his arc so that it ended up just being Fabian occasionally feeling a bit frustrated about the pressure while effortlessly succeeding to the point that not even Fig's catastrophic bardic put a dent in his popularity could have been an interesting exploration of tragic imposter syndrome, but it felt more like they were trying to stick to an expected "Fabian has to struggle with fluctuating popularity" plotline without really examining the contradiction.
Kristen failing cleric class? Kristen deserved to fail cleric class.
The issues with Fabian and Gorgug's arc was just luck and a flaw in the downtime mechanic. The others went deeper and man I really wish more had been done there.

saw you wrote reverse robins too, it always has a thing for me. what's your headcanon about it? any particular ship you like?
oh i ADORE Revers Robins, i wish i got the chance to write it more! i think there's something interesting in the challenge of flipping these characters and trying to see how they would change in each other's arcs. How Tim would approach being Red Hood, how Damian would approach being Nightwing, etc. it's all so interesting to me. some headcanons i have are
i think, making Damian the oldest and forcing him to mature on his own with just Bruce is fascinating. bc it's going to make a *very* emotionally closed-off Bruce. the bulk of Damian opening up happens when he's Dick's Robin, so to make it just him and Bruce destabilizes a lot of that. Bruce chose Dick, but if Damian's the oldest, it's likely he didn't choose Damian, he got stuck with him. which adds to their dynamic and imo makes Damian a bit more stunted in the way Dick is, in that being raised solely by Bruce can make one. emotionally constipated. i do think Damian would be forced to mature a lot faster and would be a very quiet person.
i've mentioned this in a post talking about JayTim in RR AUs, but Tim as Red Hood would be *far* more calculating, imo. i think a lot of the emotion of Jason's actions would be stripped from it. even if you make Tim a killer (such as when Tim is Savior in a future universe) he's never going to be a "heads in a duffel bag" killer. he's going to be planned and methodical about it. (like how he almost killed Boomerang) half of his plans would be hidden from Bruce and i think part of the game for Tim would just be seeing how much Bruce even figures out.
replacing Tim with Jason instead of vice versa is interesting, bc it forces Jason to enter the role of Robin with a lot more caution. i think his backstory still works in a RR situation, street kid Bruce just kinda plucked from nowhere and called Robin. bc Bruce is grieving, and this if the first kid whose mischief sort of reminds him of Tim. but bc there's a dead Robin before Jason, it means he's going to be treated with much more care. and his anger regarding entering a Red Robin role could be interesting bc he is known for his anger and i do think he'd be far more violent about the transition, as opposed to Tim's self isolation route.
for RR, i always always prefer that it's Damian who adopts Dick. usually i like it best as Damian adopting Dick when Bruce is "dead", but i think it also works if Bruce is alive when Dick comes into the picture. it'd make for a stunted relationship bc of how closed off Damian is while *wanting* to do right by this kid, or at least do better than Bruce did. and i think Damian as Dick's mentor figure would make how Dick confronts his anger very different.
as for Steph, in any case where i do a Reverse Robins, mentally know i'm also picturing it with a Reverse Batgirls. and to keep from Cass just not moving around, i'd include Helena's time as Batgirl and thus, Steph is Oracle, Cass is Huntress, Helena is Black Bat, and Babs is Spoiler. which, makes canon ships like TimSteph and DickBabs a lot of fun. also you have a lot of curious things to explore by flipping Cass and Helena's moral codes under their vigilante titles. Cass as an outsider to the Batfam instead of being under Bruce and Babs' wings? could *really* force her to do unsavory things. and Helena with more support could be a bit softer around the edges. honestly, i could make a whole post about Reverse Batgirls too bc i think most RR AUs don't tend to address the women in it, which is terrible. gimme Oracle!Steph. and with Spoiler!Babs, if you play with Babs brother that rarely exists being the person she becomes Spoiler to stop, that could be super fun.
as for my favorite RR ships: i'm a suck for RR!TimDami. i think it's just bc of all ships, that one tends to play with the AU the most, in my experience? which is *so* fun bc Nightwing!Damian and Red Hood!Tim struggling to reconcile is everything. i devour every fick. i'm also particular to JayTim, just bc i think Jason as Robin seeing Red Hood!Tim would *immediately* be too interested for his own good as he copes with his anger of being replaced as Robin. but seriously any RR ship if the worldbuilding is done well will always draw me in. i just adore seeing how ppl explore filling in the logical loopholes and if backstories need to be adjusted or not and how personalities would naturally change in the situation. it's endlessly fascinating to me.
#necrotic answerings#reverse robin au#reverse robins#reverse batgirls#that should be a tag and it's a crime that it's NOT#I never see ppl tackle how to handle Steph in reverse robin#I think I saw one fic where *she* was Red Hood that was enlightened#otherwise she tends to be glossed over#which is a tragedy.#let women exist in the Batfam.#also Jason as the third Robin would be the one dealing with jean-paul with damian#which would be SO interesting by God.#like I wanna explore these characters in each others plots as part of this AU#would they be on each other's teams?#Tim on the outlaws#Jason on young justice#and so on#bc that is also SO fun.#how do the team dynamics shift yk.#also Steph as oracle I think would be a direct result of Bruce never taking her seriously as batgirl#which would be why Steph would form the birds of prey when she becomes oracle to cope with it all#could be fun.#Steph and Helena having the relationship that Babs and Cass have in canon? PEAK.

8b buddie oracle reading
okay i did a buddie specific oracle reading for the first five episodes of 8b using the wild unknown archetypes oracle deck by kim krans.
anyways into the reading:
8x09 - the womb (slightly tilted) - "this card is a call to keep things simple, to return, to be reborn in the name of love". an origin story. but the fact that its off kilter means there is some sort of disruption there. This is the beginning of the Big Buddie Arc; maybe buck's feelings realization is sidelined by maddie's disappearance-- i can especially see this happening since the womb represents the mother and maddie is a mother figure to him. he needs her to accept and come to terms with his feelings but obviously can't do that if she has been kidnapped. but no matter how lost maddie is physically and buck is emotionally, this card calls us to heal and grow.
8x10 - eros (slightly tilted) - "though eros can be depicted as unbridled sexuality and eroticism, a more conteplative understanding of this archetypal energy leads us to the root of desire itself. what do we long for? why are we awakened by love? you may find yourself swirling in a new territory of desire and sensuality" this kind of screams let buck fuck to me…like he's realized he has feelings for eddie, but doesn't think he can have him so he projects that longing and desire onto other people. the fact that its only mildly tilted, i think this won't last long. he'll quickly realize that is not helping anyone. wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the episode he has fully come to terms with his feelings. if we apply this to eddie--i don't think character arc wise he's at a place where he's able to acknowledge his attraction to himself but this would definitely speak to a hint of his reciprocal feelings of some sort. something not said out loud but the start of this journey into a new territory of desire and sensuality for him.
8x11 - the mountain (reversed) - a reversal indicates a significant barrier in achieving this energy. "the mountain can affect us in two ways: it can inspire and enliven us to rise to new heights…yet it can also create isolation" so this is eddie in el paso. his instict is going to be to self isolate, and lean into the puritan side of his upbringing. this card can create a separation from those we deem "below us". in this case i think this might be eddie himself. what he was beginning to acknowledge in LA (his queerness, his attraction to buck) is "beneath" him. but continuing to climb a mountain up, up, up is a fool's path. the jewels and crystals are WITHIN the mountain; within eddie. and at his very core, eddie is chris's father. once he digs deep, self reflects he'll be able to pull all this out and not only get his son back, but also finally be his true self.
8x12 - anima mundi - "epitomizes the principal 'accept all. reject none'" only slightly tilted so not much resistance here. at this point, its all smooth sailing for buddie (GODDDDDDDD) eddie knows he's gay. he knows hes in love with buck. this is a card of destiny and these boys are ready to go after theirs. together. they are complete together, each others world. and they're ready to accept that bond. (although with the slight tilt i could see like they b oth know and they're both ready but buck goes to el paso and eddie goes to LA and they don't tell each other or something silly like that)
8x13 - the unseen (mildly tilted) - "we cannot see it, yet it sees us--watching and waiting with wisdom both kind and instructive" moderately tilted this could be a challenge. an NDE where they both know how the other feels but they just can't quite get there. a reflection on how everything has lead them to this moment, how they've been circling around each other like the universe itself has willed it and yet when they're finally ready, the same destiny that has pulled buck and eddie together seems determined to now keep them apart. perhaps an eddie coma dream where shannon appears and is like go back to ur mans dude. i always knew you were gay. LMAOOOo. this is a card of clairvoyant guidance, spirit, and ancestors soooooo
i've had this deck for a while but haven't used it much because sometimes i get intimidated by oracle decks compared to tarot decks which i have a certain familiarity with regardless of which deck i use. BUT i found this deck to be really versatile and broadly applicable so!!!!
#911 abc#911 show#911 spoilers#911 speculation#evan buck buckley#evan buckley#eddie diaz#buddie#buck x eddie#the way my first thought when i pulled the womb and then eros was ah yes buck is finally getting pregnant confirmed#anyways feel free to message me wwith any other 911/8b questions you want me to do a reading for#911 season 8#station 118 podcast

been thinking too hard about my batman mob au. so i would like to share it. this is so long im sorry let me put it under a cut
i want to begin by saying that i think the only way bruce could feasibly become a mob boss is if he was able to be swayed to see that "clean" methods would genuinely do no good and in fact succeed in achieving more harm due to how much corruption and crime permeates the system. i think it would take a LOT to convince bruce of this, so he's kind of the hardest character to put in a mob au. however for the sake of fun we will suspend our disbelief a little bit!
okay, moving on, alfred: he's long been proven to be bruce's biggest enabler. i think he would get over it and end up helping him as he does as batman
as for dick: ooh boy. okay. so first of all i DO think bruce would let him kill zucco. however!! i think as dick grows up within the mob his strong code of morals will also begin to conflict with the lifestyle. but he's stuck there because bruce. insert all those posts about how dick grayson loves freedom and he also loves bruce and those things are at constant war with each other and because he loves bruce he sometimes clips his own wings. etc etc. i think he is the talia al ghul of this whole sitch if you get what i mean
speaking of talia!!! i believe her father would still be at odds with bruce bc yes, bruce is in crime, but bruce refuses to join with the league. so they semi-preserve their canon dynamic, except i think there's more opportunity for cooperation between talia and bruce considering talia's lexcorp era. in fact i do believe that lexcorp and waynecorp would become business allies during talia's time as ceo
but jason isn't dead. what his kidnappers hoped to do was turn him against his benefactor, taunt him about how it's been months and bruce still hasn't been able to save him, had refused to save him. but one night the door's left ajar and the sound of the TV drifts in, talking about how bruce is waging a bloody gang war, the first he's ever instigated, and jason... well. :)
as for jason—i think he would be the most loyal of the bunch. the first thing i actually dreamed up wrt this AU was a reimagining of ditf/utrh! in here, he's kidnapped by a rival gang. they demand bruce an impossible ransom, and bruce has no choice but to refuse. so bruce is sent a video of jason being killed.
"but poppy," you ask. "where's babs? tim? steph? cass? helena? jpv?" ok let's be real people aren't usually asking about the last 2 rip my babygirls BUT ANYWAYS—
the most important figure is HELENA. in the absence of batman, guess who's becoming the foremost protector of gotham??? EXACTLY. HELENA BERTINELLI. her whole backstory is that she wants to bring organized crime down SO WHO BETTER TO BE THE MAIN ENEMY IN A BATMAN MOB AU.
also because i love her.
im not biased i swear.
ALSO HER FIRST "ROBIN" (not necessarily named robin i just mean like. sidekick) IS JAMES COOPER FROM CAVALIERI'S HUNTRESS. CHUCK DIXON I HAVE NOT FORGIVEN YOU FROM ERASING HIM FROM MAIN CONTINUITY. he doesn't go out into the field that much bc he's still baby but he's the oracle before oracle. although when he does go into the field he's like. remember in cavalieri huntress where he was scurrying arohnd in the sewers and planting fucking grenades and shit. yeah.
later on he and babs will be best buddies <3 babs is his favorite aunt
ALSO!!! the rest of james' family will still be alive. idgaf. it's MY au and i can randomly reveal that his family has been alive all along IF I WANT TO. comic writers stop killing black people off for shock value challenge 2k24
also, james is ABSOLUTELY the one who wheedled helena into making a lair
babs does join the fray still! her story arc is mostly the same except that she partners with the huntress instead of batman. their ages are closer together so it's a slightly different dynamic
tim will remain a civilian. he will, however, be a very helpful civilian, in that he's the one who's stalking dick grayson & trying to prove that dick's involved in organized crime. him and dick will have the saddest tragickest "we could've been brothers. but not in this life. not ever." type of relationship. like jaderoy but platonic.
also tim & helena will have the same littlebrothernephew relationship that they have in canon 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
i guess jpv will get roped in in a similar way to canon, but the idea of bane doing what he did to helena makes me so so sad :( however since she is taking batman's narrative space in this story then i think it should still proceed. i will then also insert a little bit of the vichelena agenda here—
in the wake of bane, JPV WILL STILL STEP IN AS HUNTRESS. "but they'll know he's not a woman" COWARDS. just give him a dye job and he'll look like helena. all white people look the same. he can pad the fucking suit or he can get the fuck out.
as for steph, she will absolutely be a vigilante alongside the huntress. her father is still cluemaster, after all, so she'll follow a similar arc to canon except it's helena and not bruce that she'll develop a complex mentor relationship with!!
i think helena can see a little of herself in steph. i think part of helena envies steph's moral compass also. iirc at steph's age, helena still thought her mafia family was okay & that it was just the people who killed them that were bad. yet steph, who's half her age, has no such illusions about her father, and is already fighting to try and bring him down
cass!!!! cass will still come to gotham!!!!! i can't see a way for cass to be on bruce's side in this au simply bc of how strong her morals are. she killed a man and never ever wanted to kill again, even with shiva where it was kill or be killed, she had already made up her mind to let herself be killed in the end. so she is going to be on the vigilante side :]
also, it would be amazing for me personally if cass came to gotham during azbats (...azhuntress?) era. ohhh lord. a situation RIPE for incredible interactions
i still haven't read damian & duke comics properly yet so that's going to have to be added in the future. but that's what's been rattling around in my brain so far!

For the sake of science please describe exactly how you think Gale cums: Does it sort of suddenly spurt out? Dribble? One rope? A break between them?
Does his cock stay warm after he cums?
Quick turn around time?
He cums harder when he's taking someone behind correct? When that vein in his neck is throbbing and he's absolutely plowing that pussy chasing his orgasm?
Is he a chatty little puppy the day after he finally pops his cherry? Drinking his orange juice at breakfast, hands flying as he rehashes the previous night and explains just exactly how everything felt the night before?
For extra credit please elaborate on Bucky and Egan and say something nasty about each of them!
You're such a gem xo
Signed, a slutty sky daddy lover
My dearest mutual sky daddy loving anon, it is with a great deal of investment and no small amount of suspicion that I answer this. As always I’m flattered by the faith put in me that I know these details, and am the oracle to supply them.
He’s not exactly a dribbler, though lord knows he dribbles a lot before hand and it’s all so wet and tacky and sputtery. But the real blast off isn’t a huge arc, you’re not aiming at the wall and trying to spray paint with it, but it’s very gushy, multiple ropes and they puddle and ooze down his pretty pink shaft, in little bursts I think. ☺️🤭
Does it stay warm? Oh, I’ve such a silly inclination that this man runs cold for the most part, and while it’s hot scientifically super plausible, I feel that it overheats itself in the moment and after the first few splashes of its own crescendo, starts to catch a chill and will moderate itself in both size and heat rather soon.
However- turn around time is very speedy. Very, and all the more impressive as he droops pretty intensely between but always rises again to the challenge. Something Maureen facilitates at all times.
If he’s taking you\her from behind you can be sure there was plenty of context for it, which 100% ensures that man is blowing extra hard, mhmm
How dare you make me think of him excitedly chatty about what happened to him and all the feelings he felt over orange juice. How dare.
For extra credit?! Oh gosh what can I say that I haven’t already? Bucky has a cock you can watch physically pulse as a geyser of cum shoots out in spurts and does indeed paint the opposite wall if ya don’t intercept it with something useful like -ya know, your tits or your mouth, doll.

Companion Quests, pt. 2
A personal challenge for how I’d work largely within the existing framework to tweak things. It’s fun to think about.
The way I’ve broken them down is any character changes; their narrative arc broadly and how some quests might change; and what Rook’s involvement would be in terms of the outcome. Overall, I felt like some of the quests were far too personal for it to be solely up to Rook to determine the outcome. In general, I believe it should have been a gradual influence that ultimately the companions decide on.
Featured are Harding and Neve.
Harding
Changes: I’m divided on Harding because the storyline that we got would have worked with Dagna, who had always been interested in magic and is a caste dwarf and more tied to her heritage. Also her bubbly personality would have been an easy swap. However, if I had to rest the Titan story on Harding, I would change her personality to be more aligned with that of DAI where she is a bit more rough around the edges. I understand the stance that because she’s not in the presence of a public figure like the Inquisitor, she’s more casual. But I feel like there were glimpses at the beginning of the game where she seemed more of that rough-edged personality. I am a strong proponent that Harding could have been a conduit for knowledge from previous events if players wanted to engage with that content.
Arc: Harding’s quest would lean into the question of why her and what this means for the rest of the dwarven population. It would be that she never was against her heritage but also not super close to it, having been in human society for most of her life. When she does get this ability, she would be kind of confused. Like,” ugh, why is this happening to me?” But she would also see the benefits of having it. There would be some foreshadowing or hinting that the reason Orzammar and didn’t respond to her inquiries is due to a smattering of their citizens mentioning hearing voices and being able to dream. It worries the leadership and, unsure if it is madness, they would like to keep it within their walls. A minor thing, but I think impactful, would be reactivity to having completed enough of Solas’ regrets before doing Harding’s quest, allowing her to confess that she knows what happened to the Titans. This would change the Oracles dialogue slightly and be a little more pointed, but it would still be a relatively vague response.
I did like the training we did with her and the encouragement/discouragement angle. There would be another instance where Rook could double down on their stance, which could affect their relationship with Harding. There would be the added nuance that perhaps Rook is wary a bit, but will still stand by Harding as she discovers more about these powers. Rook could also be very flippant about her research or actively hostile towards her using them (in the same vein as telling Lucanis you don’t trust him after rescuing him from the Ossuary). As you progress, in one of her quests*her abilities fail her and she gets taken over by the other half a bit, allowing you to see that there is an imbalance.
Instead of her anger seemingly being directed wholesale towards the elves, Harding would struggle with even being the keeper of these feelings. Yes, she felt the need to blend in, but she would recognize that she did in fact live a more privileged life than some others. Should she be the conduit for this righteous anger? How should she go about imparting it to others when they are also trying to keep things in a small group of knowledge? How can the dwarves, who are being affected by awakening Titans coexist with modern elves?
Rook’s Involvement: I think since it’s a lot of high emotions in her final quest, having a friend grounding her was a nice touch. The choice would remain the same, but Rook’s encouragement/discouragement would be taken into account when Harding decides. Being more encouraging would result in Harding taking heed to what Rook is saying, naturally more inclined to Compassion but could also use the anger to empower herself. In contrast, being dismissive towards her abilities would result in Harding for sure embracing anger. The Compassion choice sets her up with more support skills while the Anger is for more combat, but I think even visually it would have been cool. Perhaps the Compassion choice would have Harding's eyes glow blue while Anger would have her briefly look like her red counterpart.
Interpersonal: Harding would be in an interesting position to me, as a Southerner who has recently traveled a lot of Thedas with Varric and also came into contact with a lot of different people in the Inquisition. As an Adrastian, I think she could be challenged depending on the player and the reveals within the game. I think she could be on the cusp of being more open-minded while still being devout.
----
Neve
I didn’t dislike Neve’s quest, but Aelia really fell flat to me.
Changes: I feel like Neve needs to be more ingrained in the SD or she is outside them but knows them.
Aelia: In my opinion, Aelia needs to be more dangerous, more formidable. I would give her the Johanna Hezinkoss treatment, where we tangibly see the danger instead of hearing about it. With Johanna, we see she has the lantern; she has pulled in a piece of the Fade; and has already stolen the life from so many. So when she comes through with her golem, it’s a tangible “oh no” moment. With Aelia, the gimmer of that was when she was controlling the Thread boss and the witness. I think it would have been more impactful if there was the implication that she has grown more powerful, perhaps able to control groups of people during a quest or Rook helping Neve to stop a group of her followers wreaking havoc in Dock Town. Or approaching the catacomb temple, we see blood magic going crazy. Neve’s quest could have been a way to really see the damages of blood magic in the same way Zara could have pushed the grotesque side of it.
Arc: Neve’s questline would play out largely the same, with her closing in on a former opponent but with a few more dramatic flourishes. For example, Bataris comes up dead with his father and templars thinking Neve had something to do with it. I think her quests could interact with the main story and support it, providing a more granular experience while the main story remains more high-level. Upon finding out that Aelia is back, there would be another quest where there is major Venatori movement, after their failure in "Blood of Arlathan." It is revealed that Aelia is mobilizing in mass and has gained more followers who want to be on the ‘right side’ of the conflict. Among those missing or controlled would be NPCs (like Hal and Cida) that we see in the temple later on. Neve would be confronted with a choice that mirrors that of the Archon quest and generally similar to the vanilla game's choices: protecting Dock Town using the underground connections and with a show of force against the corrupt; or relying on due process and civilians to change things. I could see the 2nd option as being an exercise in using official channels to make change that sticks and to fight propaganda/negative sentiment on the Shadow Dragons.
Rook’s Involvement: Rook’s support in Neve’s quest would determine how she decides the outcome for her final quest as well as if she is hardened or not. A Shadow Dragon Rook could have an opinion on whichever choice she makes. For example, a by-the-book Rook may be disappointed with Neve choosing to go the forceful route and vice verse. Or Rook could include themselves in the future-facing outcomes of her decision.
Interpersonal: Neve would have been fun to have dialogue with throughout the game, learning her views on events as they happen, as well as her past cases. Players would be able to challenge her on her views of Tevinter and being a mage of some privilege, even as she fights against injustices. Her and Lucanis would not initially get along due to the perceptions of both their origins. If she was hardened, she would be more subdued overall but still a dedicated member of the team. I think it would be nice to see her open up in general.

The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood

This game was so good I decided to write a review for it, which is,, not something I tend to do on here. My very subjective and enthusiastic game review begins here.
Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood is a visual novel where you play as Fortuna, a fortune-telling witch exiled from her coven and forced to sit around on an asteroid for a thousand years. This kinda blows, so she summons a Behemoth named Abramar (the big boy up above) to help her get free.
Abramar helps her make a new oracle deck with which to tell fortunes, and visitors come pouring in while Fortuna learns how to use her new deck and schemes to overthrow the leader of the coven that exiled her.
Gameplay: 5/5
It’s a visual novel, with no parts of the game requiring skill in anything other than decision making. This is not a game that is going to challenge any part of you other than your tear ducts. That being said, the specific mechanics brought to the visual novel by the addition of the oracle deck are fucking delightful. For any given choice, a card represents some subset of the possible answers for a choice, which you can then choose between. Sometimes you get unlucky, and pull a card that makes all of your choices shit. Sometimes you get lucky and can perfectly shape how a character’s arc goes. It’s really neat and can add a lot of replayability. Also, you get to custom-make all of your cards and some of mine wound up being really pretty. There’s no fucking feeling like drawing your favorite card that you spent 10 minutes designing while you’re tackling a tough problem. The game took me about 5 hours to beat.
Story: 4.5/5
I have a few minor gripes with the plot. Some of the characters and their arcs could have stood to have a little more time spent on them (the romance subplot in particular is… very fast). Besides that, the characters are all delightful, the overarching plot is FUCKING BEAUTIFUL and the setting is really fucking interesting. The game tackles things like gender, sexuality, fate/free will, and Lovecraftian gods. Their handling of these themes (besides fate/free will, which is definitely the core idea being explored here) isn’t anything revolutionary but it’s solid. I almost cried a few times, both during some conversations in the middle of the game and during the absolute beauty of a climax. There’s a decent number of possible endings the game can have (There seems like there’d be 6 main possible endings). As befitting a game that’s all about fate, your choices VERY early on will inexorably bind you to a given path, but the terms of how it all shakes out are up to you.
Art: 5/5
Gorgeous gorgeous pixel art. Phenomenal aesthetics. A variety of wonderful character designs. There isn’t much to say, it’s just pixel art executed flawlessly. There isn’t a ton of stuff going on, because it’s a visual novel about sitting on an asteroid in space, but god this game is so fucking pretty like jesus christ
Music: 6/5
Every character has their own theme that plays while you’re talking to them (and they’re all bangers). I will be listening to this soundtrack for a WHILE, and I will 100000% be stealing the climactic song for a D&D boss fight. It’s very Hyper Light Drifter: impeccable vibes and with a certain somber determination present throughout much of it.
Final Ranking: a very subjective 5/5
This game isn’t gonna be for everyone. Visual novels aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, and they aren’t necessarily mine. But this game was fucking awesome, and it’s currently $15 on Steam. If you check it out, I’d love to hear what you thought of it!

No problem! Yeah I think what happened with those twists was that the writers saw how Goyer's original three-villain plot twist in Unburied (the Harvester actually being Stirk, him being manipulated by Hugo Strange, Hugo Strange being manipulated by Kell who is actually Poison Ivy) was well received and deciding that they should just copy that strategy for both SitD and Fallen City?
But the Court of Owls being involved and having caused the Waynes murder especially seems like it doesn't line up with the worldbuilding in Unburied at all - Unburied specifically points out that police corruption isn't something specific to Gotham but inherent to the police system itself, it wouldn't make sense for that sort of story to introduce the Court and go "actually it wasn't the system after all , it was all just caused by this shadowy organisation". Same with Unburied having Bruce learn to let go of his obsession with his parents deaths only for Fallen City to roll this development back by making their deaths a conspiracy, or Unburied Bruce learning about the abuse the villains face in Arkham and blaming himself for it to the point of needing to be consoled by King Tut only for SitD to make him unsympathetic to their deaths and torture - it just doesn't fit together. Not to mention the lack of following up on Barbara's plotline with Flass or Eddie's plotline about potentially losing his grip on his sanity that were core elements of their character arcs in Unburied that subsequently got ignored as if they didn't happen.
It's like the new writers wanted to separate themselves from the core of the original first season (the characterisations and arcs) while trying to emulate what they think made it successful (the plot twists) and completely failing because of this
Oh, gosh I should listen to the first one again. I forgot about that shift in sitd. It's the little things that make Bruce / batman come a cross so differently. Like the first one feels like a batman that's been around, knows all the rogues and cares for them, is constantly monitoring himself knowing how bad things can get and still he goes above and beyond for everyone. It's so... Mature.
I described fallen city as cartoon because frankly all I could think about was Btas and tnba. A bruce that has seen it all... Except a guy who cannot die? Deception? There's no... Nuance? Bruce's grieving is confined to visiting the mausoleum almost. It's like he just started to deal with it instead of someone who has grown around it.
I was excited at first, thinking it was a prequel? The relationship with harvey felt starnge in that it makes you wonder how long he's been a DA and if he has any issues with the job. But Barbara being oracle and mentioning (am I remembering wrong?) the events of the last season only prepared me for the weirdest Ra's reveal ever.
Also you mentioning the corruption in the system! It just clicked to me why it felt so removed from the first and sitd, not just emotionally. It's like, Barbara is encouraging gordon to be a cop bc be was the best there is and, in a way, 'gets shit done'? She forgets about flass and the department making Gordon's life hell for wanting due process at the very least? The premise is too different. And, I might get flamed for this, almost ridiculous to introduce the most larger than life villains batman has.
I reiterate they aren't my favs and I don't read about them, but my understanding is that the court is meant to terrify Bruce, they're the horror in his own home, one he had never accounted for but knows him very well and has tons of power he cannot imagine. And the other is Bruce's first 'oh shit, how do I deal with this guy without getting him or more people killed for some world domination plan'. It's so different from the more grounded ever-present issues in Gotham and having batman still be challenged by them.
I could yap about this all day long lol. I just... The combo baffles me.

Writerly Thumbprint Challenge~
Rules: look back on your work, both past and present, finished and unfinished. what are five (or more!) narrative elements, themes, topics or tropes that continuously pop up in your work?
Tagged by @thana-topsy ❤️❤️❤️
For all of the nattering I do at my friends about my fics, I really had to think about this, (unless I just wanted it to be a list of all my favorite fanfic tropes.)
(Which I kind of do so they will come rapid-fire at the end hehehehe)
Crisis of Faith - At some point, at least one of my characters will have to question everything they've been taught or thought about the Way the Universe Works. This may be a crisis of actual religious faith, or in the way they view abstract concepts like Truth or Justice, or in the way they view some institution or authority figure. Unlike some of the themes that follow, I know exactly where this one comes from. See, I grew up in a very fundamentalist house hold. Like speaking in tongues, the earth is 5000 years old, and having an erotic dream is just as sinful as sex type of fundamentalist house hold. I even went to a religious college and learned some Latin and Greek to try to figure out which Christian denomination was The One True Church. I graduated from that religious college with straight As in all my theology/religion courses and new found atheism. So, crises of faith and deconversion arcs are very compelling to me, but I really love exploring what a deconversion/reaffirmation of faith means in the context of worlds where there is incontrovertible evidence that the gods/divine/supernatural do actually exist. I suppose it's a little bit of wish fulfillment - sometimes it would be nice to have the comfort of religion again, but that's a bell that can't be un-rung, at least for me. Tropes that come out of this that I loooooooove: -baptism imagery -oracles/prophecy -martyrdom -pretty men tied up and tortured (I'm not sure whether going to church and being SURROUNDED by the kinkinest goddamn fetish art of various saints dying horribly changed my brain chemistry or whether my brain was always That Way and the visuals just made it bearable but either way.)
The Universe Doesn't Give a Shit About You, but I do - this is the second part of the Crisis of Faith. The Protagonist has realized that searching for meaning outside of themselves is pointless, and that in the face of an implacable, uncaring void the only way to find meaning is within oneself and in the connections forged with fellow beings.
The Crucible - I love angst. I...honestly cannot think of a time that I wanted to do something horrible to a character and toned it down before publishing a fic. But I really want it to have a point - I want my characters to go through hell and back, to be completely destroyed, remade, but also to come out the other side changed when they shed all the extraneous things and discover what their essential inner essence is.
Hidden Depths - in this case I'm not referring to the main protagonist discovering their inner strength; to me that is part and parcel of The Crucible. What I just eat up with a spoon and love writing is secondary characters, minor characters, and especially antagonists revealing some of their inner world and it surprising the hell out of everyone. The taciturn swordsman turns out to actually be really good at sewing. The logical scholar loves romance, etc. It can be hard to not have this end up being a deus ex machina crutch to resolve corners I've written myself into, but some of the best times of my life have been when I've discovered something I didn't know about someone I've known for years and they bust it out just when we need it (usually final jeopardy round at pub trivia) I want my protagonist to suddenly see every previous interaction with that person in a new light because they've now glimpsed the Hidden Deep.
Cleansing, or in other (Greek) words Catharsis - Someone somewhere is going to end up in a bathtub. Getting scrubbed. Usually this physical vulnerability will mirror the emotional vulnerability between the scrubber and the scrub-ee. It's also a really fun place for smut.
Sanctuary - in real life, after we've gone through the Crucible to achieve our Catharsis we rarely get a chance to breathe. The activities of daily living still require our attention: pets must be fed, jobs must be reported to, taxes must be paid. But something that almost always happens in my stories after the big resolution is that circumstances contrive to give my characters a physical place where they do not have to worry about keeping themselves fed or housed while tying up loose ends. They've ended up in a secure environment separated from the rest of the world. They always end up having to leave this place, and do so willingly, but the time they spend in it gives them space to come to terms with the events that came before, and plan out their next steps, without the pressures of the outside world. This has taken the form of a temple, a spaceship, and a giant tree in various fics. And then, of course, there's this that might as well be a personal attack:
I tag @gilgamish @moriche

DAILY ANGEL MESSAGE!
Take a deep breath, let it out slowly, say this prayer and then keep reading: “Thank you angels for revealing to me what I need to know!”
MESSAGE
Don’t be afraid of being your most authentic self. Don’t be afraid of the passion that is moving through you. Don’t be afraid of the power and gifts that you were born with. Right now, there is a huge opportunity for you to stand up for what you know and what you believe. You might feel as though the world is against you, but there’s something in your spirit that is telling you not to give up. If you feel unrecognized or misunderstood, don’t let this lack of validation get between you and what you know is right. Today’s message is a message of confirmation—you are on to something and it’s important that you don’t pull back. Keep going, keep driving, and keep pushing, because your truth will prevail.
The greatest support you can have is the support of the Universe. Call in the light of God and the angels and stand strong in your beliefs, because the challenge you are facing is an opportunity to understand the purpose of your life. Believe. Trust. Go!
ABOUT
Joan of Arc is a Roman Catholic saint and French heroine who is widely loved and respected for her role during the Siege of Orléans in the 15th century, during the Hundred Years War, when she was a warrior helping to push the English out of France.
Joan is reported to have been a visionary who encountered Archangel Michael and various saints from the age of 13 onward. Through these encounters, she developed the strength and courage that led her, at the age of 17, to experience the voice of God telling her to expel the English from France. And although there were challenges along the way, she was able to lead the French to victory at Orléans.

Oh I think I know who you mean when talking about editorial. Does she happen to be a humongous fan of them and was the editor of Batgirls and is the current editor of Nightwing who is choosing what writers she wants to write them? Also is she behind all the recent covers of them?
It would be nice to have Oracle back and actually have an arc. Characters don't need trauma to make them interesting. She's over it and has been over the Joker for a long time. They keep recycling this story for her the same way they do with Jason Todd. They both don't care about that clown anymore. Like Babs needs an arc or something interesting to motivate her or actually cause a problem for her. I love her but I can't read one more thing where she is just perfect and isn't given any challenge. I want to see her suffer (affectionally). I love her the most when she was prickly and is a little bit of a bully. I like when she fights with other characters and then has to apologize.
ngl i don’t keep up with editor names but it is one of these ppl. it’s the same editorial team for both books. i remember it being a dude but can’t source that so i’m giving group blame lol. editors choose the variant cover artists and do have cover input so probably.

the move right now seems to be that dc wants to make d/b their new flagship couple, which. they’re also trying to be somewhat meta with all their batman “commentary”, if you can call it that, and the comparisons they’ve been making between batcat and d/b.
and i completely agree with the babs stuff. she’s just much more important as oracle and more interesting as well. you could replace her with a cardboard cutout in this new era and it wouldn’t change anything 💀.

1. Not really
2. Either A Link to the Past or the Oracle duology collectively.
3. Skyward Sword. I just love how she and Link are such good friends. Though Spirit Tracks is a very close second, since that's the game where Zelda has the most actual screentime.
4. That I've played? Probably Breath of the Wild. Unpopular opinion, I know. It's pretty and all, but there's only like eight unique items in the game (counting the Runes), and only like 12 unique enemies. It's a huge world that can be fun to explore, but everything just gets really samey after a while. Plus the story sucks.
5. Three-way tie between Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Wind Waker, with Ocarina of Time as a close second.
6. Adventure of Link. I've heard the horror stories.
7. Jabu-Jabu's Belly from OoT because it's just such a unique setting (the OoA version is technically the same, but it's both way more annoying and also doesn't feel as much like the actual insides of a creature); Stone Tower from MM because its main puzzle mechanic is just so creative; Goron Mines, Arbiter's Grounds, and Snowpeak Ruins from TP because they feel like actual locations with a specific in-universe purpose rather than just "random place full of monsters and treasure;" the Temple of the Ocean King and Tower of Spirits because I really like the "central superdungeon" idea (honestly don't know why TotOK is so hated; reach new item unlocks shortcuts, so it's not like you have to do the same thing every time); both of the timeshifted dungeons in SS (Lanayru Mining Facility and the Sandship) because I love that mechanic (and also for the same reason as the TP ones; Ancient Cistern from SS because I really like the sharp contrast between the bright and airy "upper world" and the dark, zombie-filled "underworld;" Sky Keep from SS because it ties together everything from all the other dungeons with a very challenging and fun puzzle mechanic. Basically I just think SS had top-tier dungeon design.
8. The Oracle duology, hands-down.
9. The postman from Twilight Princess. I don't know why everyone hates on Navi when this guy exists. WHY IN THE NAME OF DIN CAN'T I SKIP HIM?!!?!
10. Beetle from SS, Magnet Gloves from OoS, Bombchu and Hammer from PH, Ball and Chain from TP, and Double Clawshots from TP/SS.
11. Wind Waker. It's where he's got the most actual character.
12. Probably Twilight Princess. It's the first one I played through entirely on my own.
13. Overall? Much as I dislike the rest of BotW, I can't argue that its character design is top-notch. After that, it's a tie between Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess.
14. As in, which one do I prefer? That depends entirely on context. Design-wise, the Gilded Sword takes the cake, but Biggoron's Sword is probably the most satisfying given that it's the reward for such a difficult side quest, and the Master Sword of course has so much lore tied to it that it's practically another character…then Skyward Sword made that literally true.
15. If Skyloft counts, then that. Otherwise… hmm… the Temple of Time is cool, since it's one of the few constant locations that ties multiple games together.
16. Lorule because it answers the interesting worldbuilding question of "what happens if the Triforce is destroyed?"; the Great Sea because it's somehow exactly the right balance between full and empty to not be boring but still feel like a vast ocean; and New Hyrule because it's just so satisfying to ride the train around (plus that song slaps).
17. Probably Twilight Princess or Majora's Mask
18. Also Twilight Princess or Majora's Mask
19. Twilight Princess or Majora's Mask (three in a row!)
20. Too hard to pick. Not the Switch ones though… for the others, it just depends on which one I'm feeling nostalgic for at the moment.
21. Breath of the Wild
22. So hard to choose… OoT/MM is classic and has a spectacular three-game-spanning arc, but TP, SS, TWW/PH, and ST have so much more personality within their own games.
23. Spiritual Stones. They look the coolest.
24. Either A Link to the Past or A Link Between Worlds. Those had the biggest inventories. Though the Oracle games also both have a pretty unique lineup. TP's are cool but too many of them are sadly underused.
25. Tie between Midna and Spirit Zelda (ST) because they participate the most in the story and actively help Link out instead of just being lore dumps, with Ezlo in second and Tatl in third.
26. Oracle duology collectively, with TMC as a very close second.
27. Probably A Link Between Worlds.
28. The Wind Waker. We need more games where Link actually has a family.
29. Depends entirely on the game
30. That's a hard one… Ballad of the Goddess from SS and themes from both TWW and TP are all very good, but I'd probably go with TWW or SS since those themes are actually incorporated into the game itself instead of just being background music.
31. Jabu-Jabu's Belly from OoA, Sword and Shield Maze from OoS, Ganon's Tower from ALttP, or Eagle's Tower from LA. Those ones are brutal. Though I would say that Mermaid's Cave from OoA is the most annoying with constantly having to go in and out and no easy means of doing so.
32. Probably BotW/TotK. Much as I dislike their gameplay, the map design is top-notch and looks the most like an actual fleshed-out world.
33. Depends. I like when the two are mixed, like in SS.
34. Moldorm in ALttP. He appears in ALBW and LA as well, but is more reasonable in both. Other contenders are Ghirahim III and Demise from SS, Evil Eagle and Dodongo Snakes II from LA, Mothula and Ganon from ALttP, and Knucklemaster and Yuganon from ALBW.
35. Demise from SS, Ganon from ALttP, Yuganon from ALBW, Majora from MM (without the Fierce Deity Mask)
36. Skyward Sword. It filled in a lot of worldbuilding holes. Though LA was also pretty good with the whole dream world thing.
37. Assuming we're talking about normal enemies and not bosses/minibosses… Technoblins from SS are pretty annoying. So are the flying tiles from ALttP, especially in that one room where you can't just cheese them by staying in the doorway, but even with that, it's still really irritating to have to just stand there until they're finished.
38. Dead Hand from OoT
39. ALBW or SS. Maybe TWW.
40. The stupid motorcycle in BotW. And also the Sheikah Slate. Really just everything from there (and TotK) that looks like modern technology. It breaks the fantasy too hard.
41. Song of Healing because it's so moving, and Song of Storms and Saria's Song because I can play them.
42. Bunny Hood. It's the most useful one.
43. In original MM, Zora, because the swimming mechanics are so satisfying. In MM3D, I don't know… the Zora isn't as satisfying, but the other four (counting the Giant's Mask) are pretty much the same.
44. Biggoron's Sword trading sequence from OoT and Gratitude Crystals from SS. The latter is the only one I've never finished, thanks to that stupid harp minigame.
45. Also Biggoron's Sword from OoT, or Maiamais from ALBW. They have the most satisfying rewards and also aren't super annoying.
46. OoT 3D. The dungeon redesigns were AMAZING. It was like a whole entire new game.
47. Skyward Sword
48. I like all of them.
49. Depends on the game, they all have different stuff. Plus they all have different numbers of bottles, which makes the storage capacity more or less valuable of a commodity.
50. OoT Mirror Shield or SS Hylian Shield
