I feel like those of us who are longtime Video Essay Enjoyers™ have been aware something was suss about James Summerton (I remember when Lawrence called out Somerton for stealing their Hannibal essay years ago) for a while. But I think it's cynical to reduce Hbomberguy's vid to just a "dunk" when it's more of an odyssey railing against how influencer and content culture devalues the work of culture critics, academics, and activists. As Harris said, it's not a problem exclusive to Somerton, but a corrosive attitude baked into late capitalist "content" culture. The video is a clear exploration of the consequences of all media and art being flattened into "content" creates a system where the labor of marginalised creatives and storytellers are exploited and stolen by people with more privileges and resources. As someone who has witnessed rich tiktokers quote articles and posts I've written verbatim without credit to make money from their 1000s of followers, this video hit super hard for me. From James Somerton claiming the works of dead gay activists, to Charli D'Amelio building a career from stealing dances created by Black tiktokers - plagiarism is often inseparable from discrimination and exploitation of labor rights. Harris' video is about how the nature of influencer content culture has further exacerbated the exploitative systems that already existed, wrapped up as YouTuber drama analysis. But I hope people don't miss the forest for the trees and remember you should always be citing your sources, fact checking, and be very wary of people who don't. And for the love of God, please stop getting your information exclusively from video essays, tiktoks and podcasts.

reading between the lines ✦ jeno
pairing: collegestudent!literatureprodigy!jeno x afab!collegestudent!scienceandmathgenius!reader

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENO!!!
‘WHAT’ you gasped, not noticing you had barked it out until everyone turned around and glared at you.
‘i’m sorry?...’ your professor had stopped everyone to bring attention back, she gave you a quizzical look, ‘is there a problem?’
you shook your head, still surprised by your sudden outburst, ‘n-no, i apologize’ you hung your head in shame, red blooming on your cheeks from embarrassment. you had been dreading today, your world literature 1 professor had told you all a week ago that you would be paired up with a partner for your first project. your major in biology and minor in actuarial mathematics required some literature classes to help with ‘scientific writing and understanding’ as your advisor put it. so you figured world literature 1 was the easiest choice, it turned out to actually be hell on earth. your weakest subject was english and literature, you were never a reader growing up unless it was about different sciences, but you always opted for documentaries and videos than reading. growing up, you’d always dread english class, anxiously waiting for whatever science and math class you could have next.
when you tell people that your favorite subject is math and then science they would laugh and usually end it with an ‘i wish’, that was your english and history, you wish you could understand it better, but it always seemed impossible. what you were least expecting was getting paired with the best literature student you knew, jeno. he annoyed you at times, acting like a pretentious asshole going around and quoting shakespeare and some other century-dead author. when you went and quoted pythagroas near him it was now apparently a problem, you two bickered back and forth in class during group introductions about greek philosophers for almost an hour, debating if aristotle was more of a math genius or a linguistics expert.
after the heated discussion, jeno told you ‘i love a good debate, you have some crazy opinions though’ he ended up giving you his phone number. it was only the first week of classes, your first ‘friend’(?), you texted him that night, but no response came. the next week you were struggling with questions your professor had given you all to go with a reading.
you texted jeno:
‘hey is this correct? *PICTURE ATTACHED*
his response chimed on your phone five minutes later:
‘no’
and that was the only response you got, no help, no explanation, you didn’t even know what was wrong with your answer to begin with. fuck this, you ended up calling him, to your surprise he answered with a ‘what?’
you didn’t mean to blow up on him, but it just came out, ‘why can’t you be nice to me for one second and help me with this student homework?’
he sighed, making your ear vibrate with the sound, ‘take back what you said and i’ll help you’
you grumbled but obliged, ‘this homework and reading is not stupid, now please help me’
you guys ended up talking on the phone for almost two hours, discussing different themes from the reading, mostly arguing about who was right, but in the end jeno helped you get answers that were good enough. he talked you through the questions and the actual themes of the reading, the elements, and showed you how to better analysis pieces of literature. you were eternally grateful but absolutely mortified at the same time.
after that phone call, you were psyched, finally finding someone that could help you pass. you were always the person in math classes that everyone went to, you didn’t have to be that person for others anymore. although you remember all the emotional baggage and difficulty when trying to help others study and understand formulas, you wouldn’t ask much of jeno, only when you really needed it.
two weeks ago you found him in the library, doing homework with books scattered around him. the first thing you noticed were glasses that he had never worn before, big frames making his eyes look much bigger in such a cute way. you figured if you asked he wouldn’t mind if you joined him, and you figured that if you asked in an even nicer way, he could help you with the literature homework.
‘hey jeno!’ you greeted him, walking up to his table, he looked up, pink lips still in a straight line, ‘would you mind if i joined you?’
‘i guess not’ he shrugged and moved some of his books out of the way for you, now sitting across from him you smiled slightly and got out your own homework. abstract algebra was your favorite class so far this semester, you never thought getting homework would make you so giddy. you couldn’t believe some people found it excruciating, while it was just a ‘fun activity’ for you. you and jeno continue work in silence, you would steal glances every once in a while, his eyes scanning over the paper as he scribbled down notes and highlight sentences. eyebrows knitting together and whispering out words in order to analyze everything perfectly. you thought it was cute, his lips would curl up into a smile after every question got answered. sitting in front of him, you could see the perfect slope of his nose, his broad shoulders slouched as he leaned into the desk, his large hand brushing his black hair back sporadically. the golden ratio had nothing on him.
not long after the trance jeno left you in, you finished your math homework and now it was time for your enemy: literature. you looked up and glanced at jeno who was writing notes down, ‘hey’ he lifted his head, ‘do you think you could help me with this?’ you motioned down to the paper in front of you, he followed and noticed your blank page compared to his one that was filled.
‘did you even try?’ he questioned, ‘it looks like you haven’t even started’
‘well’ you started with a sheepish smile, ‘i did do the reading, but i could barely understand any of it’
he sighed, his hands reaching under his glasses so he could rub his eyes, ‘okay, and what part did you not understand?’
you grabbed your packet of papers and flipped until you found the sentence, reading out loud, ‘his sense of her inferiority—of its being a degradation—of the family obstacles which judgment had always opposed to inclination, were dwelt on with a warmth which seemed due to the consequence he was wounding, but was very unlikely to recommend his suit’, you looked up at him, offering the best pleading eyes you could muster.
he slightly rolled his eyes, ‘so, basically darcy should put away his pride of being in a higher ranking than elizabeth, but he cares more about her status than love. even while he is proposing, he still looks down on elizabeth and wants her to feel grateful that he is even considering her as a wife’
‘oh, i never thought of it that way’ you mumbled, looking down at your paper again.
‘don’t they teach you stuff like this in high school? god, i fear for your grade when we actually have to read and analyze a whole book and not just passages for exercises’
the sentence was a stab to the heart, taken aback you said nothing as shame burned through your body. growing up you’d have teachers, friends, and your parents comment on your lack of understanding for english and literature, but you’ve never heard a remark like this. it cut deep, you opened and closed your mouth, unable to give an actual response, incapable of making any snide comeback, you gathered your things, got up and walked away from him. before he started to see the tears that made its way down your face.
you avoided jeno as much as you could, you sat nowhere near him in your shared class, never looked in his direction in the courtyard and started taking different routes to other classes. it was working out great for the most part, that was until he had transferred into your biology ‘unity of life’ class three weeks into the semester, at the very last minute of course. rumors were going around that a lot of students had transferred out of his previous one due to it ‘being too hard’ and that the professor ‘was a nightmare’ and he needed a natural science requirement for his major, secondary education if you could remember correctly.
seeing him walk through the door of one of your favorite classes was a different type of personal hell, and you were having a great day so far. you softly groaned, trying to resist the urge to roll your eyes in annoyance. your desk partner seemed to catch on, jaemin turned to you, ‘whats wrong? forgot to do last nights homework?’
you turned towards him, ‘never, i was so excited for this assignment, i finished all the questions as soon as i got home… it’s just… that guy, the one who just walked in’ you glanced back to his lab table, jaemin followed with his eyes, ‘i’m in his literature class and he’s nothing but an egomaniac, basically called me dumb for not understand some passage from a book’
the blond haired boy frowned, ‘he might know some books, but wait until he gets a taste of a real challenge, he transferred too late into the semester, he’s fucked’. your lips twitched up into a smile. you met jaemin the first day of class, introducing himself as a veterinarian science major with a minor in biology. you two became quick friends after you got him coffee one morning, you ended up with two cups after the cafe got your first order wrong. he was nothing but thankful, long discussions in class that lead to topics that never related to science. you got to know him pretty well, often texting and meeting up for study groups with other students from class, you both always paired up in class whenever prompted.
‘that’s fair, would be satisfying to watch him struggle’ you whispered.
he giggled, ‘god you sound like such a sadist’
the professor pulled up his notes as he prepared for the beginning of class, ‘takes one to know one’
you opened your notebook to the current lesson: the cytoskeleton. the professor went through the slideshow while you happily took notes on cells and its structure and stabilities within the cytoplasm. once the professor was done with the lecture, he started asking students questions, seeing if they were paying attention.
‘okay, now what is a delicate coil held together by hydrogen bonding between every fourth amino acid?’ he looks over his roster of students, ‘jeno! why don’t you answer this for us’
on cue, everyone turned to watch him, his head shot up from his notebook in surprise. he obviously looked unprepared, hands nervously pushing his bangs back. ‘oh… um, i don’t know i’m sorry professor, i transferred late into this class and still need to catch up’ his hair looked wild as the tips of his ears shone a bright red.
the poor professor sighed, ‘does anyone want to help jeno out?’
you immediately shot up your hand, ‘y/n?’
you smiled dramaticly, before another breathe you answered, ‘alpha helix’
‘yes, thats correct! great job y/n… now you all need to pay attention, this will be on our first exam coming up in two weeks’ he went on about amino acids and different elements. jaemin leaned into you, ‘nice’ he whispered, a smile on his face. yeah, that would show jeno what you could do.
you peeked back at jeno who whispered ‘two weeks!?’ to himself looking distressed, you felt a pang in your heart. perhaps it wasn’t fair, stuff like this was never taught in secondary school science classes, obviously he was going to struggle. you weren’t going to seek him out and offer help though, he knew science and arithmetic were your strong suits, it was his turn to come running, beg for forgiveness and ask for help.
speak of the asshole, and it shall fart, jeno texted you later that night.
‘hey…’ you scoffed, the audacity of this guy, you resisted the urge to text him back a ‘you should know this already right?’
you texted back a simple ‘what?’
he immediately answered, ‘do you think you could help me with this bio homework and maybe study together for the exam 。°(°.◜ᯅ◝°)°。’. shameless.
giving him the benefit of the doubt, you relented. maybe it was an off day for him, ‘i guess, meet me in the library tomorrow, and we’ll start’ he hearted the message and that was the end of the conversation.
you woke up early the next day, grabbing every notebook you had kept over the years that could help jeno. you texted him right after noon, ‘this is an all day affair, meet me in an hour and bring me a caramel macchiato. don’t be late, pride & prejudice wasn’t written in a day’ he liked the message as a response. you left your dorm and headed to the library, setting up a space for a long study session. jeno comes right on time, with two coffees in his hand.
he places the bigger cup down in front of you, ‘large caramel macchiato, with extra caramel, extra vanilla, and extra drizzle’
you look up at him and give him a modest smile, grabbing the drink and taking a sip from the straw and swirling the ice around the cup, ‘thank you, lets get started’ he nodded and pulled out the chair next to you and sat down.
you got out all your notebooks, his eyes widened making you giggle, ‘jesus christ dude, how many notebooks do you have for this class?’
‘well, not all of them are from this class, i brought some from previous classes that i think could help you’ you handed over a stack of notes, which he begrudgingly took. ‘okay, now lets get started…’
you two had spent hours discussing carbohydrates, cellulose, and enzymes. sometimes arguing back and forth about answers, ‘okay so, a system of membranes that modifies and packages proteins for export by the cell?’ you asked jeno as he flipped through his notes.
‘um… integrins?’ he answered, totally unsure of himself in the process.
you smiled, ‘not quite, its the golgi apparatus, integrins are cell-surface receptor proteins… crazy how you don’t remember this from basic biology classes…’ you mumbled the last part.
but of course he still caught it, ‘what was that?’
you shrugged your shoulders, ‘i mean we learn about cells and stuff in secondary school… everyone knows that the golgi apparatus is the packaging and distribution center of the cells, i mean everyone talks about how the mitochondria is the power house of the cell, is that the only thing you remember from biology?’
his eyebrows shot up in surprise, ‘oh? so that's what this is about?’ he smirked, ‘you’re still upset about what i said last week aren’t you?’
your gaze diverted from his line of sight, thankful you wore your hair down this morning so he wouldn’t see the pink burning on the tips of your ears. ‘no… i’m just saying’
‘...saying almost the same exact thing i said?’ jeno smiled, and his eyes turned into crescent moons, happy that he caught you in the act, ‘understandable… well, uh, if you help me, i’ll help you’
you crossed your arms and narrowed your eyes at him, ‘not until you apologize, not everyone can be as good as you in literature’
‘okay, i’m sorry, you are a genius in math and science, now please agree’ jeno pleaded.
‘fine’ you answered.
another week passed and jeno finally felt comfortable taking the exam, on the other hand your literature professor started talking about a project for that class. jeno reassured you that he would help you in the best way he could, he helped you with literary analysis, notations, and rhetoric. you ended up getting an 85% percent on the most recent homework, excited to show jeno you made your way to the classroom.
‘so, jeno, i’ve been seeing you hanging out with that y/n person in our class’ you stopped before the entrance to the classroom, ‘they literally know nothing about literature and refuse to learn, how could you put yourself through that?’
‘oh, well, um, i don’t know, i’m just helping them with some stuff’ jeno answered. you peeked inside, he was with two other students, a girl and a boy, sitting together in a group.
‘must be pretty frustrating, i don’t know why they are even in this class, fucking moron, am i right?’ the girl responded and you could hear the others, but jeno, laugh.
you could feel your heart break as your mind begin to buzz. eyes watered, and you thought back to your discussion with jaemin, of course you guys were poking fun at jeno too, but nothing this extreme. ‘i mean, i guess one could think that, but everything about th-’ you couldn’t listen anymore, turned your heels and stormed off. stopping at the end of the hallway to through your graded paper away in anger and humiliation. after everything you both did for each other, it made your blood boil in anger and betrayal, you had to get back home. you paced to your dorm, keeping your head down so no one would notice you and your state of mind right now. skipping one literature class wouldn’t hurt.
so it did, and now here you are, sitting in your literature class with the professor reading out the pairings for the first project. for the rest of the week and over the weekend, you had ignored jeno’s texts and calls, you decided you were finally done with his games. ‘y/n and jeno’ the professor read out to the class.
‘WHAT’ you gasped, not noticing you had barked it out until everyone turned around and glared at you.
‘i’m sorry?...’ your professor had stopped everyone to bring attention back, she gave you a quizzical look, ‘is there a problem?’
you shook your head, still surprised by your sudden outburst, ‘n-no, i apologize’ you hung your head in shame, red blooming on your cheeks from embarrassment.
your professor nodded and resumed her list of partners, after she announced to the class, ‘now sit with your partners and discuss what you all want to do for your projects for the rest of class’
you groaned, you weren’t ready to face jeno yet, you probably never would be. you never wanted to see or speak to him ever again, you shuffled to his seat, taking your time to get over to him and sit down.
‘hey’ he said, ‘you’ve been ignoring me this whole week, whats up?’
fake ass bitch, you thought, he didn’t care, ‘nothing, just not a good week i guess’
he frowned, ‘damn, well, if it makes you feel better, i got a 90% on my first bio exam!’ he beamed, ‘so at least now you know your hard work is paying off’
‘that’s great, glad you’ve been getting at least something out of this’ you deadpanned.
he gave you a quizzical look, but decided to drop the subject, ‘so, for the project i was thinking about covering the tenant of wildfell hall’
you literally didn’t care and let him pick whatever, ‘yeah that’s fine’
his eyes narrowed, giving you a weird look again, ‘okay… so, the book has themes of double standards, religion, morality, and love. i can send you passages that we can cover for our project…’. jeno went on for the next thirty minutes with only little nods and comments from you, agreeing to anything he had to suggest. all you wanted to do was leave, once the professor dismissed class that's what you did, picking up your backpack and storming off with jeno still talking.
you rushed down the hallway, ignoring the calls coming from jeno behind you. with his crazy athletic built he eventually caught up to you, grabbed your shoulder and spun you around. you gazed up at him, he stared down at you, looking for any answer he could find. ‘what is your problem? i thought you’d be happy we were paired up?’ he started interrogating you.
you sighed, almost giving up, ‘jeno, can we just meet up later and talk about it? i’m exhausted right now’
he sighed and his hands fell from your shoulders, ‘i’ll text you’ he nodded, and you turned around and left. once at your dorm you threw your backpack to the side and climbed into your bed, taking a well needed nap. a few hours later, your phone vibrating next to you pulled you out of dream land.
3 missed texts from jeno:
‘y/n, are you able to come over to my apartment soon?’
‘plz stop being so stubborn its annoying plz just talk to me’
‘here’s the address lmk when ur on the way’
you texted him back:
‘sorry i was taking a nap’
‘i can be there in a bit’
you got up and got ready, grabbed your backpack and left for jeno’s. once you got there it took you a good five minutes to have the courage to knock on his door. hesitant you tenderly knocked on the door, after a second he opened up the door and let you inside without another word. he was in shorts and a sleeveless t-shirt and smelled immaculate, you gulped, raking your eyes over his body, strong arms and long legs, a face without imperfections. your heart burned in anger and panic, angry that he was so gorgeous it pissed you off, panic because all you could think was what the fuck am i doing right now? ‘do you want to sit down? i saw you brought your backpack, we can work on some stuff if you want?’
you nodded, walked over to the couch and plopped down, grabbing your backpack you opened it and got your laptop out, pulling up the notes from your calculus 2 class. jeno joined you on the couch, sitting a little bit to close for comfort, but you said nothing. his bare leg brushed against your clothed one, sending a buzzing sensation all throughout your body, trying your best to ignore him you stayed focused on your screen.
question 1: x³ + 2x² - 6z = 4 - 2y²
without a second thought you typed in the answer:
r³cos³0 + 2r² - 6z = 4
submitting it you smiled as the green checkmark popped up, correct on the first try. ‘damn, that’s crazy’ jeno broke the silence, you glanced over at him.
‘what?’ you said turned back to your laptop.
‘i literally understood none of that and you got it on the first try!? that’s literally fucking insane’
you laughed at his outburst, ‘it’s nothing really, it was kind of easy, just plug in the following x and y polar conversion formulas into the equation where possible, then you just rewrite everything and use the formulas to convert the equation into cylindrical coordinates’
jeno howled in laughter, which was contagious enough to make you laugh, ‘that’s insane, you’re amazing’
you cocked your head to the side, intrigued by his word choice, ‘oh? am i?’
his demeanor changed, the air felt heavy as he calmed down and moved closer to you. he leaned in, and you panicked, he glanced down at your lips and back up to your eyes. his long eyelashes met his cheeks, you followed suit and closed your eyes, ignoring the way your mind is screaming at you not to do this. heart says otherwise, as you could hear it beat in your ears, whole body buzzing as his pink, soft lips brushed against yours.
jeno moved in deeper, teeth clinking together as you ravaged your mouth, he was a starved man, and you were the last meal he would ever receive. it was warm and sensual, he reached around your waist and roughly pulled your torso into his. his nose bumped into yours as he moved his head slightly for better access, laptop completely abandoned to the side your arms lifted to his biceps, squeezing hard as you let out a soft moan. you broke the kiss as you pressed against his arms, your forehead leaned on his as you both caught your breath, between pants he smiled and laughed, you did not. anxiety ran your blood cold as now all you could think of was what he had said in the classroom about you. was this all a joke?
‘jeno…’ you started, and his smile faltered, ‘i can’t do this’ you stood up and grabbed your laptop and shoved it haphazardly into your backpack, heatedly rushing out of his apartment and down the hall to the entrance. again you ignored jeno as he called after you, his footsteps echoing behind you. you pushed the heavy door open and the air hit you with the wind flying through your hair. continuing down the lamp-lighted street, the boy was still trying to catch up to you.
‘y/n please, we forgot to talk about it’ he addressed your almost non-existent figure fading into the darkness.
he was hopeless by now, but still refused to give up, he moved again, ‘y/n!’
you stopped and turned around, walking up to him his build now growing hazy as water pooled in your eyes. ‘you wanna talk about it? you WANT to talk about it? FINE, you are such a stuck-up asshole, thinking i’m so stupid because i don’t have the best grade in our lit class. laughing about it with your friends when they call me a moron! you think you’re so great you didn’t even know what the chemical symbol was for sulfur, FUCKING SULFUR JENO’ you were yelling at this point, jabbing your finger into his chest with every emphasis in your anger. ‘you think you can play me in some fucked up game you have going on in your head, keeping me around so you can feel better about yourself and use me for help so you could pass an exam, i know i’ve asked you for help before, but at the end of it, all i wanted to do was be your friend, you could’ve said no, but i couldn’t. you gave me no choice but to give in with the deal that you’d help me in return, and you know what? i needed the help, badly. and you knew that and used it in a discussion with your friends that laughed at me because of it, you know how that made me feel? like absolute shit, i wanted to be your friend but all you have ever done was use me and hurt me, and guess what? you don’t have to fear for’ fingers motioning air quotations, ‘my grade because i got a good grade on my homework thanks to you, so thank you jeno! i really appreciate the help, i hope it really boosted your ego, maybe you can go fucking write a book about it or something, i don’t know and i don’t care, but i’m done’ your face was probably beet red at this point, while angry tear's avalanche down your face, you hastily whipped your face and snot that escaped during your outburst. his face focused into view, he was so pretty, and that made you tear up all over again, he could have been different.
he looked defeated, frustrated as his fists clenched into balls and relax over and over, ‘y/n, please let me explain, i di-’ you stopped him, placing your hand in front of his face.
‘do the math jeno, the probability that i would ever hear you out is slim…’ you turned and started walking away, briefly glancing back, he was still in the same spot. ‘it’s S by the way, the symbol for sulfur, maybe now you’ll remember it when you think back on this night… not so proud after all’ your voice cracked at the last sentence as your heart wrenched and stomach mangled, tears breaking through yet again.
you left him there.
you decided not to tell jaemin about what happened, but jeno’s absence was evident. you couldn’t sleep, all that replayed in your nightmare was his soft lips brushing against yours, and you swore you could still feel his strong arms pulling you forward, into him. the feeling that gave you clawed at your heart, beating you down every single time you closed your eyes and pictured his face smiling at you, laughing at you, annoyed at you. anything he gave you, you would take, no matter how much it broke you down. you liked him, no, you like him. even after everything he’s done, you still held a soft spot for him in your fractured heart. all the phone calls that turned into facetime when he would ask for help with math, and you had to show him the steps of a problem. laughing every time you would shake trying to hold your phone steady as he jokingly squawked, ‘keep still!’ when he would read passages to you over the phone late at night, and you’d have fallen asleep to his tender voice before he could even explain the motif. it had only been 5 weeks of class, but it felt like you had known him longer, despite your differences in subjects you both eventually subsided the arguments with long discussions and debates on why one answer was right and how the other was wrong. revelations that came to light after hours of going back and forth.
you stood in the shower, blankly staring at the white ceramic wall in front of you as droplets rained down. you thought about the day you and jeno were studying in the library, renting a study room within because you figured the discussion would be heated. it ended up in a feverish battle between the differences of cell adhesion and cell migration. by the end of it you were standing up, hands pulling at your roots in irritation trying to explain it to the boy sat down in front of you with a shit-eating grin adorning his face. ‘y/n, y/n, stop, stop, please, i can’t take it anymore’ he laughed, clutching his stomach, ‘i got it, while they are tightly associated, cell adhesion provides structural support and stability to tissues, while cell migration is the directed movement of cells from one location to another’
your arms dramatically dropped to your sides, ‘YOU KNEW THIS WHOLE TIME’ pointing, you accused him.
he laughed again at your reaction, ‘i just love seeing you like that, it’s cute, you know i just love a challenge’ he exclaimed going back to his notes.
you laughed to yourself, recalling the moment of the playful banter and subtle flirting that slipped out on occasion. you giggled, howled, and snorted a little too much at the memory, which silently followed into your heart sinking to the bottom of your stomach, the shower masking the uncontrollable sobs that carried through every limb, appendage, and bone.
jaemin went on and on about some story about his roommates, you paid barely any attention, eyes glued to the door as you waited to see if he would show up. the blond boy slurred his words, leaning into you now, trying to get you to look at him. you turned your body, he was giving you a pouty face with big, shining eyes, ‘i asked you a question y/nnie. were you even listening to me?’ he tugged on the sleeve of your hoodie, his strength made you feel like a rag doll.
‘i was… and the answer is yes?’ you said, unsure about whatever he was yapping about.
he beamed and clapped playfully, ‘yippie! i knew you could use a pick-me-up, i promise it’ll be fun, the party is saturday so clear your schedule, i’ll pick you up’
your shoulder shook as you lightly laughed at his theatrics, rubbing your temple in exasperation as to what you just got yourself into, ‘sounds like fun’. you barely noticed jeno walking in out of the corner of your eye. he looked worse than you did, a hoodie with a stain, sweats that looked they were able to fall apart, mis-matched socks and unkempt hair. he kept pushing his glasses up his nose and rubbing his tired eyes. your heart skipped a beat when you noticed his dark circles that almost matched yours, his being a little worse for wear. before he could catch you staring, you quickly focused your attention to the professor starting class, going through the roaster and continuing the lecture on cells.
‘can anyone tell me the variations in cell types? jeno, got an answer?’ the professor smiled at him, everyone turned to spectate and wait for him to answer, except you.
‘um, prokaryotic and eukaryotic’ he dragged, sounding uninterested despite getting the question right.
‘yes! very good jeno’ the professor praised, moving on to the next question. you started to sweat, angry that he got it right and yet you were now holding on your high c- in literature class. how come he could now catch onto science but yet, you were still unable to grapple with the concepts of a victorian classic novel? or maybe it was the fact you had skipped every class this week, refusing to work with jeno on anything, you noticed the text and calls from him were dwindling three days after the confrontation, however everyday he sent pictures of his notes and analysis on the reading and how the project was going. as pathetic as it was, you continue to lay awake in bed nearly every night rereading his text from that night:
i know you are angry and probably hate me right now and that’s understandable, but i don’t want to give up on you, on us. do you think newton gave up on the laws of motion after he failed on the first or second try? you aren’t getting the whole picture, plz give me a chance to explain, i don’t even know if you are reading this, but if you are, plz hear me out you got it all wrong about that day in the classroom, and if it felt like i was using you, i’m sorry. that was never my intention, i just like being around you, you are always quick-witted and i was just trying to taunt you so you’d pay attention to me because i really like you, ig that backfired badly lol. anyway, i hope this will change your mind, and you’ll reach out, i’ll give you time.
followed by a very unserious message that you couldn’t help but smile at:
oh, i almost forgot, don’t worry about the project, but you could come to class, i’m starting to fear for your grade again (,,>﹏<,,) (only kidding!)
another biology class and 2 skipped lit classes pass and the weekend was finally brought upon the world. you held the pleasure of assisting jaemin to a party hosted by someone he knew from one of his health classes. it took forever for you to pick out a cute outfit, but opted for a sleeveless shirt and basic jean shorts and a pair of white sneakers you found buried in the back of your small closet. you carefully did your makeup, usually not taking it too far, but this was special, and you needed to feel like a bad bitch tonight.
jaemin showed up an hour later, deciding to walk to the house 4 blocks down, saying he wanted ‘to get turnt with you’ and that he refused to drink and drive. you agreed, walking sounded better than looking for a driver or someone having to stay sober throughout the night. you exited your building and found jaemin’s car in the lot, he climbed out to greet you and whistled, eyes eating up your form, ‘damn, you look hot’
you smiled bashfully, ‘thanks jaemin, even nerds can be hot you know?’
he turned to lock his car, ‘i mean, yes, but like, you always look cute, but this is like the freaky side of you, it’s different… it’s nice’
you cackled, ‘please never call me freaky ever again, i’m going to revoke your brain rot privileges’
he admitted defeat and dropped the conversation, you both now walked down the sidewalk in perfect silence with the sun now set, surveying the rows of houses in different stages of life in the moon glow. ‘it’s this one’ jaemin nudged you, stopping, he pointed to the house on the corner, you nodded and wrapped your arm around his, linking together so you immediately wouldn’t get lost in the sea of a potential crowd. he opened the old, green door, and you followed, as expected there was a good amount of people attending and as the night worn on you figured more would pile in.
jaemin turned to you, ‘do you wanna go find some drinks?’
‘yes, please’ you quickly nodded as he pulled you through the throng of people, trying to find the kitchen.
once you were there, the host of the party seemed to also be there, ‘jaemin! glad you could make it man’ they dabbed each other up and touched shoulders embracing in a ‘bro hug’.
‘hell yeah, no way i’d not come for the first party of the semester, i brought my friend along with me!’ he pulled you closer to him, now giving you the floor as all attention was pulled towards you, wincing as jaemin jabbed at your side, urging you to get closer to his friend.
‘hi, i’m y/n’ you said giving him a genuine smile, holding out your hand.
‘oh my, you are gorgeous, and you came with this sleaze bag’ he nodded towards jaemin who just playfully hit his friends shoulder, ‘i’m donghyuck, but everyone calls me haechan, its a pleasure to meet you’ he softly took a hold of your hand and bent down to give it a little peck, you giggled at the eccentric greeting.
jaemin tore haechan away, ‘alright, not too much now’ he joked, ‘it’s time for shots’ haechan clapped and guided you both to the kitchen island that was filled with different alcohol, he picked out a clear liquid and poured them into plastic shot cups he grabbed from a neat stack. jaemin lifted up his cup, ‘fuck pharmacology’ you snickered at his comment and raised your cup along with haechan who nodded in agreement. on cue, you threw back the cup and shuddered as the sweet nectar burned your throat. ‘hell yeah! another! at the end of the night i want to be able to forget about fucking blood urea nitrogen and blood glucose’ haechan laughed and poured another in all 3 cups. after that it was another, and then another, and after about 6 shots you tapped out and opted for a gin and coke that haechan was more than happy to make for you.
more time had passed than you thought as more people flooded the kitchen, wrecking havoc on the choices of liquor, haechan handed you your cup and jaemin motioned for you both to move to the living room. people were dancing, some were playing beer pong off in the corner, and others were chatting on various furniture. ‘want to dance a bit?’ he whispered in your ear because of the loud music that made the floor vibrate under your seat, you could feel it rattling your brain. giving him a silent nod he grabbed your hand and led you through the crowd, finding a spot and finding the rhythm of the song. you bobbed your head to the beat and moved back and forth with jaemin in front of you, you always thought he was attractive, but you saw him nothing more than a friend, you felt comfortable around him. you nursed your drink slowly, already somewhat tipsy from the shots, you didn’t want to get drunk too fast or blackout. jaemin grabbed your free hand and twirled you around, dramatically moved your joined hands with fever. you laughed along with him, indulging him in an embarrassing, yet fun dance that probably made you both look wasted to others.
his arm snaked around your waist, pulling you close much to your surprise, pleasanton’tkissmepleasedon’tkissmepleasedon’tkissme ran rampant in your mind as he leaned towards your ear ‘don’t look now, but a certain someone is staring at you from across the room, you let out a strangled breath.
‘do you know who it is?’ you whispered back.
‘jeno’ he mused and your lively spirited fell.
‘whats up? something go down with him?’ he pestered.
‘um, kinda, its a long story’ you faltered and jaemin frowned.
‘damn, that serious? his loss, he can look all he wants’ jaemin wanted to be lighthearted, make you smile again and keep jeno out of your mind. you were grateful as he pulled you into another whimsical dance, the joyful nature of his was infectious.
after a couple more songs had passed, you had downed your whole drink and let go of jaemin’s hand, ‘i’m gonna go find haechan and have him make me another drink, it was surprisingly superb’ jaemin nodded and said he would stay in the same spot for your return.
you hastily made your way to the kitchen, apologizing to others you had to push through. the small room was almost empty, haechan was nowhere in sight so you looked for a different drink. ‘having fun with jaemin?’ a voice boomed from behind you, one that you knew all too well. you slowly turned to find jeno smirking at you, leaning against the fridge adorned in a tight white shirt and ripped jeans, oh fuck this stupid earth, he just had to follow you here looking like that.
‘yes i am, actually’ you stated matter-of-factly.
his lips twitched up in amusement, ‘is that so?’ he moved in closer, eventually trapping you between him and the liquor table. jeno’s soft brown eyes met yours, searching for something inside, however, his eyes told you everything, hope, they screamed. his hand lifted towards your face, slowly brushed against the skin lighter than a feather, taking a piece of your hair and pushing it behind your ear, ‘so he wouldn’t mind this?’. his eyes fluttered closed as he bowed towards you.
before he could seal the deal, ‘jeno’ you stopped him.
he sighed, defeated, ‘just please talk to me, you said the probability was slim, but not zero, let me explain’ jeno begged, his large hands caressed your cheeks tenderly, they were soft and warm.
you could blame the alcohol as you finally let him speak his case, ‘fine, we can find somewhere private’
he smiled, eyes disappearing in relief. he grabbed your hand, leading upstairs and into an empty room, he closed the door behind him as you took a seat on the bed, ‘alright, grovel and explain’ you lifted your phone up to check the time ‘you have 10 minutes’
he gave you a smug smile, ‘that’s all i need baby, you know i love a challenge’ you rolled your eyes at his attempt to uplift the tension fogging the air. ‘that day in the classroom, you obviously didn’t stay long enough to hear what i had to say about you, at first i didn’t know how to respond being put into that position was hard, you didn’t ‘put me through anything’ though, i had nothing but fun with you, even if it was frustrating at times. we always figured it out. but when i heard what she said after i wasn’t just going to allow it, i said ‘yeah i guess one could say that’ because these people literally do not know you like i do, i finished with ‘but everything about that is completely untrue, they are willing to learn, but it's just taking longer than some of us who take a bunch of english and literature classes. if you got to actually know her you’d see how bright they actually are. a literal math genius and a real mastermind of science, could answer any question from the top of their head, it’s insane. so while we are strong in this subject, they are just stronger in other fields’ he explained, watching you intently. you wiggled under his gaze, making you feel same, but itched for him to go on, ‘i then told her that she should not speak on things she knows nothing about and left because i will not associate myself with someone who talks like that about people i care about’ he emphasized the last words carefully, grabbing hold of your hand and lifting you from the bed, ‘y/n, i’m so sorry, it was never my intention to hurt you, ever. i care about you so deeply, you show up in every romance novel i read, every poem i skim, the stories i write… it’s all you’ jeno gazed down at you, his eyes now searching for an answer, hope, and panic could only be found in his as you studied his features in the warm glow of the moon peaking through the window.
‘you really said that? you defended me?’ you questioned him quietly.
‘yes y/n, i would never let anyone hurt you, even if you aren’t in the room, because in that case, they hurt me too’
you hummed, the haze of your brain clouded any judgment you held, he was something different, the greatest math problem that needed to be solved. ‘thank you jeno, i guess it’s now my turn to apologize’
he chuckled at you, ‘no need baby’ you laughed softly, ‘now, can we pick up where we left off? you know, someone once told me that pride and prejudice wasn’t written in a day’ he wagged his eyebrows at you, moving you into an embrace as he kissed the top of your head. you held on tightly, holding him as you buried your face into his chest swallowing his scent so you could save it for later.
the hug ended, but he still held you close in his arms, ‘i guess i could pick up another chapter or two’ he laughed at your poor pun and drooped down, so his lips could meet yours. it was messier than the first kissed you shared with him, wet and heated as you could taste the soju on his tongue. he moved at a faster pace, devouring you like an animal, jeno walked you towards the bed, you gave in falling down with him, with him climbing on top of you, never breaking away. teeth on teeth echoed throughout the room as you moaned, his hands exploring every part of your body, making your core burn more and more.
jeno dipped down to attack your neck in kisses and sucking at the exposed skin, hands finding a way to his hair and tugging slightly at the intimate feeling of him being closer than ever. ‘please, tell me you’re mine, please want me’ he breathed out, the air softly hitting your ear, making the hair on the back of your neck stand up. he was desperate, kissing you anywhere he could and waited for you to answer.
‘y-yes jeno, i’m yours’ you choked out, ‘i want you in every way’ satisfied with your response he growled and his mouth met yours once more, ‘p-please touch me’ you begged frantically, needing anything to ease the sensation that pooled in the pits of your stomach.
jeno hummed, fingers brushing up and down your exposed stomach, ‘where baby? use your words, remember what i taught you?’ it was your turn to make demands now, wasting no time you grabbed his hand and brought it down between your legs, he cupped your vagina. you groaned, you needed more. jeno grabbed the waistband of your shorts and pulled them down and threw them behind him, the cool air hit your core making you rub your thighs together in order to find little warmth.
he carefully pulled your underwear down, wanting to savor the moment of finally seeing you bare, he gulped, ‘god, you have such a pretty pussy’ he took his hand and rubbed the sensitive skin, ‘so wet. just for me, right? all for me baby’ you cried out at his words. he inserted a finger into your weeping hole, making you gasp out in surprise at the feeling of just one finger filling you up dangerously. as he pushed back and forth your legs trembled, he added another finger and brought his head down to your core, ‘i bet you taste amazing’ was all he said before he dove in deep, his tongue against your clit as he drank up your juices and sucked on the flesh.
‘f-fuck’ you mewled, grabbed a hold of his soft, black hair in order to keep you grounded, with every thrust he made as he fucked with his mouth you tugged on his hair, pulling when you would feel the band about to snap, jeno groaned, loving the way you’d use him for stability.
he stopped and removed his face, you whined from the loss of contact as his fingers also found their way outside of you, he smiled ‘don’t worry, my pretty baby, i’ll take care of you’. he threw off his shirt nearly getting drunker with the way you were taking him in, he loved being adored by you, in such a calculated way that made sense in every story. you followed suit and removed your top and bra, baring naked in front of him and laid back on the bed as he admired you from afar, ‘you’re so beautiful’ he breathed, discarding his pants and underwear he crawled back on top of you, whispering sweet nothing's as he peppered your collarbone and breasts with kisses.
‘are you sure you want this? it might hurt a little at first, but i promise i’ll go slow until you tell me otherwise’ he towered over you.
your glassy eyes met his in reassurance, ‘yes, jeno i want this’ you confirmed everything for him. he quickly lined up his cock with your cunt and gently pushed inside, his eyes never leaving yours. your hands grasped around his muscled biceps, digging your nails into them when the pain was strong. once he bottomed out he stopped to let you get used to his size, you shared sensual kisses and sweet touches, jeno doing everything in his power to make you feel loved and safe at that moment going forward, that’s all he ever wanted to do. for weeks, he had been beating himself up for taking the teasing comments way too far at times, poking fun at something you were obviously insecure about, but you did the same, he figured it was kind of the thing you two had. in reality, he wanted to push you to do better, making comments like that so you’d work harder and prove everyone wrong. no one could work with you better than him, so he had gone out of his way to ask the pressor to pair you up on the project, also making the forced proximity making you talk to him after you stopped answering his calls and messages. he should have gone a better way about motivating you, but now that he had your forgiveness, he could work on better strategies.
‘jeno, you can move now’ you rasped out, still holding on his arms like an anchor with a boat. he pulled out and pushed back in, taking it slow as you moaned at the feeling of him filling you up to the brim, jeno picked up the pace, setting a steady rhythm as skin clapping together filled the room, ‘oh fuck, just like that’ your chest heaving up and down.
he slammed into with vigor, bitting your bottom lip as you opened your mouth to let out a breathless moan, ‘yeah? you like that? fuck, you’re so tight, literally sucking me in, i never want to leave this pretty fucking pussy’ he husked, he licked your lips and kissed your jaw as he grunted, setting a faster pace, making you cry out in pleasure. he grabbed your legs and opened them wider, giving him better access to go deeper into your abused cunt. you cried as the flame in your belly raged with a thousand fires, ‘keep your eyes on me baby’ jeno demanded, automatically making you swallow as you moved your eyes to meet his, blown out pupils filled with lust as your vision of him became blurry as blissful tears threaten to fall with every snap on his hips digging into you. you’ve had flings and hook-ups before, but nothing as profound as this, the eye contact, togetherness of him never backing too far away from your hold, you were being wholly consumed by jeno. everything right down to your core, he was all you could feel, taste, see, and think about.
‘o-oh my god’ you sobbed, hips jerking up at the feeling of the ripples burning through you, the coil in your stomach tightening, craving to break open, ‘m gonna cum’ you clenched around him, making jeno hiss above you at the feeling of tightness around his throbbing dick.
‘go on baby, cum for me,’ he whimpered as the feeling for him also grew intense, the way your cunt hugged his dick was making his mind spin. jeno mumbled incoherently ‘i’m so close baby, let go, you can let go, i got you’ from his words and the way he pounded into you made you snap, legs trembling as liquid gushed from your core and past his cock and dripped onto the sheets. light-headed and dizzy you cried out for jeno as your orgasm burst over you.
you clenched again, feeling overwhelmed by the euphoric feeling, ‘oh, fuck’ jeno cursed as he stilled inside of you, painting your insides with his seed, he groaned at the sensation of finally filling you up and properly claiming you as his and his alone. he stayed there for a couple of minutes inside of you. savoring the static of the overstimulation and pleasure of release. you winced as the hot liquid poured out of you when he pulled out, the emptiness of it all. jeno watched as his cum slide down your hole and onto the sheet, he scooped up the remaining liquid that rushed out of you and shoved it back into your clit with two fingers, making you cry at the sensitivity. ‘fuck that was… one of the best experiences of my life’ he caught his breath and plopped down facing you, he gently caressed your chin, bringing your head to his as he softly left kisses on your lips, ‘let me get you cleaned up baby’
‘m tired’ you whispered, barely able to keep your eyes open.
‘i know, but let me take care of you and get you dressed, i know theres extra clothes somewhere around here’ he started rummaging around the wardrobes, digging into them in order to find anything adequate. ‘aha!’ he put on a clean pair of underwear and sweats, ‘i’ll be right back baby’ he left the room and came back after for what felt like an eternity with a warm wash cloth and clean clothes, ‘these are mark’s girlfriends pj’s i’m sure she won’t mind,’ he hummed, wiping you clean, and dressing you in the soft, clean clothes. he picked you up so he could throw the covers back, tucking you in with a kiss on the nose, ‘you’re so cute’
you lazily smiled at him, settling into the sheets as you clung onto his warm frame, ‘who’s room is this by the way?’ you whispered as jeno shut his eyes.
‘mark’s. doesn’t matter. you’re my girlfriend now right?’ he leaned his head on yours.
‘mmm girlfriend yes. mark who?’ words fell from your mouth as you yawned, sleeping coming to find you soon.
‘mark, shark.’ he dismissed you, ‘just be ready for a stern talk when we wake up from the man himself.’ he kissed your head as you drifted off to sleep, the morning was the least of your worries now, you finally figured out the solution, the obvious answer being: jeno.

summary: “texting is a supremely secretive medium of communication - it's like passing a note - and this means we should be very careful what we use it for.” --lynne truss. november 14th, 2011.
Your finger traces your lip as you stare through your computer monitor, completely lost in the rather distracting and intrusive memory of about 10 hours ago. You haven’t moved, scrolled, or typed anything in eight minutes.
“That’s it, baby, let go. Let me see.” Aaron’s hand slides up your chest in the valley of your sternum and stops at the hollow of your throat. “You’re so pretty like this, so—“
Your phone buzzes. You jump and grab it.
Messages Alpha Bravo Hotel (1)
8:04am Hey. Focus.
You swallow, taking a breath and shaking yourself out of it. You can almost feel him watching you from his office.
8:04am I was focused.
8:04am Not on your work.
8:05am Focus is focus. 8:05am And what, did you want me to start writing a report about last night?
8:06am Depends. Are you citing sources? Quoting directly from the text?
Your lips press together, fighting a laugh as you reply, your thumbs flying.
8:07am You have a performance review coming up. There are team evals in there, you know. 8:07am You should be nicer to me.
8:08am Sweetheart, I know you don’t have any complaints about my performance.
Your stomach flips. Your pulse kicks up—so violently that you have to set your phone down and turn away from his window.
And that is exactly when Derek walks up, arms crossed, his eyes far too critical for this early in the morning. You can almost hear Aaron’s stupid little chuckle from your desk.
He’s probably so pleased with himself right now.
“Alright, he says, tilting his head. “What’s going on?”
You school your face into something neutral. “What?”
“That.” He gestures to you, his eyes narrowing. “That little smug thing you’re doing.”
“I am not—”
Your phone buzzes on your desk.
Derek’s eyebrows shoot up. “Oh, no way. You’re texting someone. Someone who’s putting that look on your face.”
You pointedly pick up your pen instead. “No. I’m working.”
Upstairs, Aaron leans back in his chair, watching this unfold with entirely too much amusement.
Your phone buzzes again. You pick it up, ignoring and combatting Derek’s attempts to read it.
8:10am We really need to work on your poker face.
8:11am “Working.”
Your jaw tightens. You’ll just keep it in your hand.
Derek, watching way too closely, tips his head. “You sure about that?”
Another buzz.
8:11am You owe me an email, you know. We’re both in that thread with CARD.
You exhale through your nose.
Derek leans in. “Who is it?”
Your phone buzzes again.
8:12am Whatever you do, don’t glare at my office.
Your eyes flicker toward the window—before you can catch yourself.
8:12am Good catch! 8:12am You’re terrible at this. 8:12am :)
Before you can shut Derek down, Emily strolls in with her coffee. “What’s going on?”
Derek betrays you instantly.
“Oh, nothing, just that someone is texting us, making us smile like an idiot during business hours.”
The royal “we” is absurd.
Emily’s entire body perks up. “Oh my God, who?!”
You groan, pressing your fingers to your temples. “You are both insufferable.”
Derek smirks. “And you have a man.”
Emily gasps, delighted. “Is this the same man?”
Your phone buzzes.
You do not look at it.
Emily zeroes in. “You didn’t even check that. That means something. Who is it?”
Derek leans against your desk. “Wouldn’t say.”
Emily presses her hands together. “Who do we know?”
Your grip tightens around your pen.
Another buzz.
8:14am I’ll rescue you if you want. 8:14am But you’ll have to ask nicely.
You let out a slow breath. Jesus, Aaron.
Emily gasps, pointing at you. “Ohhh, it’s someone we know.”
Fuckin’ profilers.
Derek nods, arms crossing. “See? I knew it. It’s gotta be someone in the Bureau.”
Emily tilts her head. “Or adjacent. Task force? Military? Hill staffer?”
Derek rubs his chin. “Nah. She’s the one smiling. He’s gotta have the upper hand.”
Emily squints. “It’s an instructor.”
Derek snaps his fingers. “It’s totally an instructor.” He turns to you. “You have a teacher thing, right?”
You take a deep, steady breath. “I do not have a ‘teacher thing.’”
Bzzt
8:15am News to me.
If he makes me laugh right now, I swear…
Emily gasps again, her brain working overtime. “It’s an agent in another unit.”
Derek nods immediately. “That checks out. You like the brainy ones.”
Emily’s eyes widen. “Oh my God, it’s SWAT.”
Derek tilts his head. “You do have a type. Tactically competent control freaks, mostly.”
Your eye twitches. “Can you just? Go back to your office and work on something?”
Derek grins. “Are you working?”
“We’re just asking questions.” Emily sips her coffee, looking way too proud of herself.
You take a deep breath, willing yourself to stay calm. “I hate both of you.”
Derek pats your shoulder. “That’s love, baby.”
He and Emily do, in fact, make their way out of the bullpen, looking over their shoulders every couple of steps.
Your phone buzzes.
8:18am Enjoying yourself?
You reply.
8:18am Fuck. Off.
The reply is near instantaneous.
8:19am Make me.
You walked into that one. And you nearly, nearly start typing before you catch yourself. You drop your phone face down and lean back with a sigh that is, unfortunately, also a smile.
Bzzt
You turn to your computer and take a breath, replying to that thread Aaron mentioned, just for the bit.
Bzzt
It’s hard to keep a straight face, but you figure now is as good a time as any to practice your impression of Aaron. You make a point of responding with alarming efficiency to emails he and Derek are CC’d on, totally neutral.
Bzzt
...
Bzzt
Some case notes. Very clean, very crisp.
Bzzt
You glance at your phone, face down on the desk.
He really wants my attention…interesting.
Your email chimes.
FROM: Morgan, Derek F SSA <[email protected]> SUBJECT: I stand corrected So you actually are working?? — SSA Derek Morgan, JD, MS
You roll your eyes and reply.
Bzzt
You ignore it, your fingers flying.
TO: Morgan, Derek F SSA <[email protected]> BCC: Hotchner, Aaron B SSA <[email protected]> SUBJECT: I stand corrected I’m always working!! Xx :)
You answer another—this one actually from Aaron, with a deliverable, no less. You flick the finished attachment into the email and send it, sitting back in your chair, finally picking up your phone.

Seven?!
You turn in your chair to look and find him minding his own damn business (for once), his right elbow resting on the desk, his jaw resting in his hand, his left hand on his mouse.
With a short little interested hum, you unlock your phone.
8:20am That face you’re making isn’t very professional. Do you need a break?
8:21am I looked over your notes from the CARD briefing. You missed a line in your summary.
You absolutely did not.
8:23am Probably distracted. Long night.
8:27am Be honest. Are you working, or are you writing a very detailed mental recap?
8:34am If you’re sore, you can blame me. But I don’t think you’re complaining.
Alright. Amping things up. You take an even breath through your nose and resist the urge to shift in your seat.
The effect he has on you really isn’t fair.
It’s never been fair, but now he knows.
The next set? Back to back.
8:41am You looked so sweet last night, your pussy holding onto me so tight. I almost felt bad making you cry. 8:41am If I sat you on my desk right now and spread your thighs, how wet would I find you?
And then—a laugh.
Sharp. Stunned. Shocked. Uncontained.
You slap a hand over your mouth and spin slightly in your chair, eyes wide—no one in earshot. No witnesses.
Thank God.
You exhale hard through your nose, heart pounding like he touched you, like he whispered that filth against your skin instead of wrote it, in front of God and everybody, on your phone.
You dare to glance up.
Aaron’s at his desk. Stoic. Unreadable. The very picture of professionalism.
Same posture: Left hand on his mouse. Right hand curled under his chin. Not even glancing your way.
Unmoved. Untouched.
Like he didn’t just send you… that.
You recover, returning to your work, and decide to ignore him.
+++
You answer emails.
Update a case file with some unsurprisingly salient notes from your conversation with the case officer yesterday.
Finish the interdepartmental CARD summary with irritating precision.
You sip your coffee. Adjust a typo.
You don’t look up.
Behind the glass, Aaron’s dying. Phone balanced on his knee. Seven messages and no reply.
Not a glance. Not a twitch. Not even a ghost of a smirk. A glassy lake, placid and serene.
You’re pretending he doesn’t exist.
And he’s pretending not to notice.
+++
You scroll through the messages again.
Each one, slowly.
Letting them settle. Letting them simmer.
Your jaw tightens. Your mouth twitches.
You bite the inside of your cheek to keep from smiling.
It doesn’t work.
Your thumbs move fast.
8:56am Awfully big… ego you have up there, Agent Hotchner.
Send.
Delivered.
And then?
You set your phone down. Face-down. Spin back to your monitor. And get to work.
Like you didn’t just throw a match.
Like you’re not waiting for the smoke.
+++
His phone buzzes and he’s almost embarrassed by how quickly he picks it up and unlocks it.
Messages Second (1)
He shakes his head. Just one? You’re joking.
8:56am Awfully big… ego you have up there, Agent Hotchner.
He exhales hard through his nose.
A soundless laugh. A blink slower than the last.
His jaw ticks once, just enough. He checks on you.
Unmoved. Insane.
And it’s not even 9am.
+++
You continue to work.
Actually work.
You finish two emails. Format your draft for that consult follow-up. Review a request for cross-divisional resource hours.
You even refill your coffee.
It’s virtuous, really. Professional.
Except your phone stays face-down.
Not even a glance.
Just enough self-control to make him suffer.
Just enough to make yourself ache.
And then—conveniently, mercifully, maybe even a little cruelly—you remember the consult analysis. The really good, publishable one you both started in the spring before Pakistan, finally rounding out with your contributions.
You need his signature.
You could scan it later, you could wait until lunch, you could even pretend it’s not urgent—but the printer is right there, and you’re feeling generous.
Or reckless.
Or both.
You hit print.
The pages whirr out behind you.
You take your time walking it upstairs.
+++
He doesn’t look up right away.
His pen scratches against the page—form review, by the look of it. His brow is furrowed in that way it is when he tries to pretend he’s concentrated.
A legal pad open beside him, mug near-empty at his elbow, tie just a little crooked.
God, he’s trying to act normal. It’s absurd.
You knock your knuckle twice on the doorframe and step in, the file in your other hand.
“Need your signature on the consult analysis from the spring. Strauss is looking to publish.”
He looks up—slow, measured.
His gaze tracks from your face to the paper, then to your eyes.
And there’s a beat.
Just one.
One breath of awareness, of weight, of memory.
“Of course,” he says. Like it’s nothing.
You step forward, set the page in front of him.
He doesn’t touch it right away.
Doesn’t pick up the pen.
Just looks down, eyes catching on the line above his—your signature already there.
He stares at it.
Just for a second too long. He lets himself imagine for a moment—
Same page.
Same line of text.
Same name, different hands.
That’s enough of that.
You watch his eyes move—slow, reverent. Like the presence of your signature has undone him more than the texts ever could.
Then his pen moves.
He signs.
A flick of ink. A practiced stroke.
The crossbar of the A forming the crossbar of the H in a familiar, unbroken, almost star-like shape.
But it’s deliberate. Personal.
“You gonna read my section?” You almost hoped he would. It is, honestly, really good.
He shakes his head. “Don’t need to.” He pauses, his voice smooth, but tight. “Anything else?”
“Not right now,” you say, your voice just as even.
But when your fingers brush as you take the page back, his hand lingers.
And your pulse jumps.
+++
The ride home is quiet. Your car is “under recall” this week so you can drive in together in the mornings.
Jack is in the backseat, almost snoozing in his car seat after a full day of kindergarten.
The sky is soft with dusk. The traffic hums low and steady. Your hand finds his on the center console like it’s muscle memory. His fingers slide between yours without looking.
And that’s it. Nothing else.
Just that small point of contact—warm, grounding, maddening. His thumb strokes yours once, absentminded.
And the ache rolls through you like a swelling tide.
You know those fingers. You know that pressure.
You know how those fingers feel deep inside you.
How they move when he’s coaxing you open, when he’s making you come apart.
You know how those hands pin you to the mattress, cup your jaw, catch in your hair, press bruises into your hips and thighs.
But here, in the car, with Jack humming to himself in the backseat?
He’s just holding your hand. Like he’s done a thousand times. Like it’s innocent.
But it’s not. It’s excruciating. Every red light is a punishment.
Every slow turn another second of not kissing him.
You glance over once.
He’s watching the road, jaw tight, the tendons in his wrist shifting as he adjusts his grip on your hand.
“You okay?” You ask, voice low.
He nods. Swallows. “Yeah. You?”
“Fine,” you lie. Your thumb drags over the pulse point at his wrist.
It jumps.
Neither of you say anything else.
+++
You’re still shaking out of the tension when you walk through the door.
But Jack barrels ahead—backpack flying, shoes kicked off, jacket on the floor.
“Can we have quesadillas?”
Aaron looks at you. “What do you think?”
You’re a little touched he’s asking you at all. “I think that’s perfectly fine as long as they have a green friend.”
Jack groans. “Carrots aren’t green.”
“They are not,” you concede. “But lucky for you I think we have some buttery garlic broccoli.”
He pulls a face. Aaron smiles.
You pause, your brow crinkling as you study the little trail he’s made. “Shoes and jacket in their spots please! All items in this house have homes; let’s make sure they get there.”
+++
The kitchen is warm, lived-in, as the two of you work side by side
You dice peppers while Aaron taps butter into a pan. Jack sets the table and gets started on homework. You’ll have to re-set the table.
Aaron brushes past you once, then again, his hand grazing your back every time—like he can’t help himself.
“You’re in my space,” you murmur, sing-song.
He hums. “You like it.”
He’s got you there.
+++
Jack talks about a classmate’s science fair project and how his teacher said he was good at reading aloud.
Aaron listens like he doesn’t already know this—like he didn’t read the progress report that morning.
You keep one eye on the broccoli, one ear on the rhythm of their back-and-forth, and think, maybe, that this is easy.
Too easy, almost.
It’s not alarming.
Jack clears his plate without being asked. You rinse, Aaron dries and loads the dishwasher (incorrectly, but it’s fine).
When you pass him a glass, he takes it and kisses the side of your head without thinking.
You freeze, the dam broken.
Then you keep going.
+++
Jack brushes his teeth. You read the first few pages of Charlotte's Web while Aaron finishes an email on the couch.
Already dozing a little, Jack asks, “Will you be here in the morning?”
You lean down and kiss his forehead. “Yessir. That’s the plan. Dad and I will take you to school tomorrow if you’re okay with that.”
He nods.
You continue to read.
+++
The moment his son’s door clicks shut, the air shifts.
You don’t even make it halfway down the hallway before his hand catches yours—spinning you into his space like a secret.
You gasp, stumbling slightly, and then he’s right there. You let him pull you into his chest, hands flat, fingers spread across low across his abdomen, under his ribs, the heat of him radiating through the soft cotton of his t-shirt. He exhales slowly, but you can feel how tightly wound he is. You can feel it in the way he leans just enough to rest his forehead against yours, like he needs the contact to settle.
“I’ve been thinking about you all day,” he says, voice low enough that it brushes against your collarbone. “That look you gave me in the office… you knew exactly what you were doing.”
You smile, slow and shameless. “Of course I did. And you started it.”
His hands slide down your back to your hips. He doesn’t grip hard, but the pressure is steady, heavy. “You have no idea what it did to me—watching you work, ignoring me, knowing you were doing it just to get under my skin.”
You tilt your head and kiss the corner of his mouth, gentle and facetious all at once. “I think I have some idea.”
He groans softly, then leans in to kiss you fully—deep, thorough, with the kind of patience that makes your knees weak. His mouth moves like he’s trying to make up for every minute he had to keep his distance. You feel his restraint thrumming beneath the surface, taut and barely holding.
“I watched you dice peppers,” he murmurs against your lips. “I stood beside you and tried to pretend it wasn’t killing me.”
“You’re very dramatic,” you whisper.
“You’re very mean,” he returns. His nose brushes yours. “And I love it.”
You laugh, quiet in the dark, and that’s when he crowds you, walking you backward until you hit the wall with a light thump, just enough to jar you. He doesn’t press—just stands close enough that your chest brushes his with every breath. He braces one of his hands on the wall by your head.
“We made dinner together,” you murmur, still breathless. “Cleaned up. Read bedtime stories.”
His eyes are darker now. “And I only touched you once.”
“That sounds like a personal problem.”
He grins, actually grins, and kisses you again, a little rougher now. His hand moves under your shirt, skimming your skin, reverent. His mouth wanders down, under your jaw, under your ear.
“I want you,” he says against your throat, almost like it hurts. “I want all of you. And I want to take my time.”
Your hand slides between you, drawing his face back to yours with a hand on his jaw. You kiss him back, and it’s messier this time. More honest. He’s pulling at your shirt and breathing hard and you’re already thinking about how fast you can get to the bedroom.
“You better,” you say between kisses. “I’ve been thinking about your hands since noon.”
He laughs into your mouth. “You want to start a list?”
“Already done.”
He presses his mouth to your neck, to the hollow behind your ear, and you feel the heat pulse between your legs like muscle memory. You could come undone right here, just from the promise in his voice.
“Bedroom?” you ask, already breathless.
He pulls back just enough to meet your eyes.
“You’re not sleeping at your place tonight.”
“No,” you agree. “I’m really not.”
“Good.” His voice drops, lips brushing your cheek. “Because I plan on keeping you up.”
He kisses you like he’s nineteen again and never learned patience. You return the favor.
It’s messy.
Open-mouthed.
Teeth and tongue and lips that won’t stop moving.
His hands are under your shirt, on your hips, your ribs, your bra. He can’t decide where to land, just knows he needs skin. You’re already gasping against him, fisting the hem of his t-shirt, dragging your hands up his chest, raking through his still-long hair.
He palms your ass like he’s trying to memorize it.
You laugh breathlessly against his mouth. “You good?”
He shakes his head and kisses you again, harder this time. “Not even close.”
You tilt your head to deepen the kiss and he groans—actually groans, still quiet enough for the hallway—into your mouth, pressing you firmer against the wall. Your knees go soft, but he’s already there, already holding you up with a thigh between yours, grinding slow and heavy, like he knows exactly what he’s doing to you.
“You’ve got me,” you whisper, just to say it.
His breath catches.
“I know.”
He kisses you again, slower this time. Still messy, still hot—but with a kind of wonder that makes your chest ache.
You stay there like that—teenagers, idiots, completely obsessed—for another full minute before you both remember you have a perfectly good bed down the hall.
And then you’re leading him, taking him by the hand to his own bedroom while he walks behind you, a stupid grin on his face.
The door closes behind him.
You move quickly then.
Turn. Step into his space.
You crowd him back until his shoulders hit the closed door. Not hard. Not aggressive. Just enough to remind him who has the upper hand. Who’s in control.
And the shift is immediate.
He exhales—shaky. His jaw tightens. His eyes flick down to your mouth. His turn for muscle memory.
But this time?
He’s waiting on you.
You lean in, slow and certain, your voice soft and dangerous as it brushes against his lips.
”So,” you start. “Those sneaky little texts today.” You press your lips to his and he moves to reciprocate. You pull away. He chases. He runs out of leash. His eyes narrow.
“You think about laying me out on your desk and having your way with me?”
You tilt your head. Sweet. Mocking. A blade wrapped in silk.
“Hmm? Is that what gets you through? Thinking about how wet I’ve been, all day, just for you? Hm?”
And Aaron—
He dies.
His head tips back against the door with a dull thud, eyes fluttering shut for half a second like you’ve knocked the wind out of him. His breath leaves him like a man in freefall.
“Ahh, fuck—” he groans, a hand coming up to your waist, not to stop you, just to hold on. “I lose. It’s over.”
You giggle, dropping all flirt. “Was that even a question?”
Even after everything you’ve said—how sharp you were, how in control—you can see the shift in his expression as he lets it hit him all at once.
The humor. The heat. The play. The way you’ve been messing with him all damn day like it’s nothing.
You watch him grin, slow and helpless, that rare little huff of breath through his nose like he can’t believe his luck.
“You’re ridiculous,” he murmurs, his voice still rough from everything you’ve stirred up.
You raise your eyebrows. “I’m not the one who got flustered by a desk fantasy, Agent Hotchner.”
He shakes his head, full smile now. “You are endlessly adorable.”
You blink, taken off guard by the softness. “That was not the goal.”
His hands slide up your sides like he’s claiming territory. “Too bad. You’re also infuriating and smart and—” his fingers trace your jaw, his eyes drinking you in like he might never get another chance— “so precious to me.”
And it’s not a line. It’s not a play. It’s the truth.
You feel it settle in your chest like something warm and permanent.
You kiss him again, and this time it’s different.
Less teasing. Less push and pull.
More give. More yes.
You take his hand and back toward the bed, this time without the fire of a dare.
This is just you and him.
Falling.
And when he pulls you into bed, laughing softly into your neck, he says, “You’re trouble.”
You breathe, smiling against his mouth. “You love it.”
You kiss him with that same mischievous little smile you wore by the door—but he’s not laughing now.
Not when you sigh into his mouth.
Not when your hand drags up under his shirt.
Not when you lean into him, feeling his arousal through his jeans and he groans like he’s been holding it in all day.
Because he has.
He’s been hard since that text exchange.
Since 8:30am. 11 hours ago.
Since the second you looked at him across his desk like you knew what you were doing.
He rolls you under him with aching care, like you’re precious and breakable and his.
His lips find your neck. Your collarbone. Your jaw.
His hand finds the buttons on your pants and gives himself a little space to slide his hand between your legs.
He freezes for a second. “Wow.”
“I wasn’t kidding,” you tell him, your fingers tracing up his shoulders, into his hair. “All day.”
He kisses his way down your body like he’s mapping familiar territory, hands under your thighs as he lays you back and slides your pants down. The mattress dips with his weight, and he settles between your legs without a second thought—like it’s his rightful place.
His tongue parts you gently. He starts slow. Testing. Tasting. Worshiping. And then he finds your rhythm and locks in like a man with a mission.
You arch with a gasp, hips rolling against his mouth. Hands locking him in place by this hair.
“Jesus, Aaron—”
He hums. “Jesus isn’t here. Just me.”
You laugh and he retaliates.
His fingers curl under your knees, spreading you open just enough to angle deeper. He licks like he’s starving, tongue flicking fast, then slow, circling just right, pressure building in your spine. Your hands scramble for something—his hair, the sheets, your own chest—and then it crests, all-consuming. So fast you almost can’t enjoy it.
You fall apart in a gasp and a moan, thighs trembling around his ears. Your stomach clenches, chest rising in sharp waves, breath stuttering out of you.
He doesn’t stop until you twitch.
Only then does he sit up, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, wearing the most satisfied smirk you’ve ever seen.
“Wow,” he says, voice warm and cruel all at once. “That was fast.”
You glare at him through half-lidded eyes, flushed and breathless. “You’re such an asshole.”
He grins and kisses your knee. “You’re welcome.”
You’re still catching your breath, panting softly through your nose, thighs twitching as you come down. Aaron’s weight shifts next to you, one hand trailing up your ribs as he slides up your body, the other smoothing a hand over your face like he can’t stop touching you.
You press a slow, messy kiss to his mouth. You can taste yourself there, warm and sweet and heady, and you hum against his lips, smug.
“Your turn,” you whisper, already pushing gently at his chest.
You ease him back against the pillows, straddling his thighs as you kiss a line down his stomach, your fingers dragging light as static. He’s been hard. Already warm in your hand. You stroke him once, twice—just to see him twitch. Just to hear the sound he makes when you squeeze gently at the base. You kiss his hip.
“Wait.” His voice is low, rough as he sits up on his elbows. “You don’t have to—”
You tilt your head and smile. “I want to.”
Maybe just for one second he’ll let himself enjoy something. Maybe.
“You’re gonna kill me,” he says. You can see it behind his eyes, the worry, the hesitation, the discomfort (you imagine) at being the sole object of your attention.
You look up at him with the most devastating set of doe eyes he’s ever seen , his cock resting against your cheek. “Then die grateful.”
You kiss the tip, letting his precum string from your lip to the head. You make sure he sees it.
“Let me show you something,” you say, lips brushing the tip.
He groans when your mouth wraps around him—hot, wet, patient—your tongue flicking the slit, collecting what’s left. You start slow, lips plush, hand curling at the base. You use your tongue like you’ve got time, hollow your cheeks until he hisses. His hand settles in your hair—not to guide, just to ground. But you want more than that.
You hum low in your throat and sink lower. The stretch burns behind your jaw. Your throat starts to resist. You fight through it.
You use that trick, where you tuck the thumb of your non-dominant hand into your palm, squeeze with your fingers. It works.
You breathe through your nose. Let your hand work the rest of him while you adjust your angle, relax your mouth, let gravity help.
And then you take him all the way.
The stretch is obscene. You choke. Just a little. Your eyes water immediately and you swallow around him, pulse pounding in your ears. His thighs tense under your palms. He makes a noise like he’s lost the ability to form words. You pull back with a slick gasp, drool catching on your lip—and then you go back down, slower this time, your hand moving in tandem.
“Fuck,” he groans, voice cracked. “Sweetheart…”
When you look up at him through your lashes, eyes glassy, mouth full of his cock, he swears under his breath. His hand scrabbles uselessly against the covers.
And then you grab his wrist. Guide him. Place his hand at the base of your skull and nod, pulling off with a pop. “Use my mouth, baby. Show me what you want.”
His breath catches. And then he does.
It’s gentle at first. Testing. You keep your eyes on his. Let him see how much you want it. Then he gets bolder—deeper, slower thrusts, like he’s watching every reaction, every tear tracing down your cheek, every stretch of your lips around him, every gag. His hands hold tighter, giving him a view.
When you moan around him, he actually believes you like this, thrusting into your mouth with a little less fear.
Not brutal, not fast. Just enough to make you choke a little, enough to make you drool, enough to have you making pretty noises every time he hits the back of your throat.
Your nose brushes the soft skin of his abdomen with every stroke. Your throat works, swallowing around him. You’re soaked to your thighs, your orgasm minutes ago complimenting the throbbing of your clit in time with your pulse. You keep one hand wrapped around him, jerking him off when you come up for air.
Your other hand slips between your legs, addressing the ache one orgasm hardly touched. Your sounds grow more desperate, turning up the temperature until he feels like he’s going to burn alive.
When he pulls you off, spit strings between your mouth and the head of his cock. You’re breathless, dazed, panting through parted lips.
He drags you up for a kiss—deep and messy, his fingers still tight, pulling your head where he wants it, his hand sliding between your legs. And when he finds how wet you are, he actually groans into your mouth.
“Are you seriously getting off from having my cock in your mouth?”
You nod, wordlessly, still catching your breath. He groans again, almost a disbelieving sound.
“I have to pick between fucking your mouth and filling you up?” he murmurs, breath shaky. “That’s cruel.”
“Then make a choice.”
He turns you around, rougher than usual, but careful in all the right places. You’re already on your knees, chest pressed to the sheets, back arched, when he guides himself to your entrance, running the head of his cock through the slick.
You gasp, pushing back. The hand on your hip leashes you, his tip dipping shallow. He can see the stretch already. You need him, right now.
“Aaron, please, I—“
“Yeah?” He grits out, his jaw tight. He’s playing like he’s in control but he is absolutely wrecked by this phenomenal image in front of him. “You want it that bad?”
“I want to feel you. I need you to fill me up—please.”
Since you asked so nicely…
He presses in further, still just the tip—and already you’re pulsing, clenching around him and squirming. Already, he’s in the trenches out here.
“You’re soaked,” he breathes, breath shaky.
You whine. “Aaron—please—I’m begging, I swear—I need—“
“I know. I know.” He smooths a hand down your spine and finally moves, dipping into you a little deeper each time. “I’ll get you so deep, you won’t be able to walk right until Monday.”
You whine again, gripping the sheets.
He slides into you until he bottoms out, a delicious pressure you can feel in your ribs. Slow. Intentional.
Then—he’s not slow anymore. He pulls out almost all the way and pulls you back, strong and fast, until your ass makes contact with his thighs, jolting you forward
You moan. It pulses through your body. You feel the stretch down to your toes, his hand gripping your hip as he pulls back, then thrusts again. Each push sends you forward on the mattress. Each snap of his hips sharp against your skin. The sound of it—slick and rhythmic—is filthy. His hand slides around your thigh, fingers finding your clit with practiced precision.
Your head turns. You’re shaking. You can’t stop shaking. You reach out behind you and he takes your hand, lacing your fingers with his over the small of your back.
“You liked that, didn’t you?” he says, low and dark against your back. “Taking me that deep. Choking on it. Eyes all wet for me.”
You whimper. He growls.
“I know you wanted me to come in your mouth,” he mutters, voice fraying. “But I needed to be inside you. I needed this.”
He fucks you like he’s trying to reach your soul—deep, slow, relentless. His fingers never leave your clit. You break apart again, pulse throbbing through your cunt so hard it pulls him deeper, makes him swear again.
“Jesus—baby—keep squeezing me like that and I’m not gonna last.”
Your voice is ragged. “Then don’t.”
And when he finishes, he presses as deep as he can go, locked inside you, his hand still between your legs. Still stroking. Still touching. You relax around him, your shaking muscles spent.
You’re still trembling when he pulls out, slow and careful, like he’s trying not to spill a drop.
It doesn’t work.
You feel the rush of it, warm and slick, already falling down your thighs. Heat snaps from your clit to your chest as you feel his cum slide out of you. It should be messy, maybe even embarrassing, but it’s not. Not with him. Not when he groans like he’s the one overwhelmed by the very sight of it.
(He is.)
His hands stroke down your back, reverent, steadying you as you rise onto your elbows. He bends behind you, breath hot between your thighs, and then—
“Aaron—” you whisper, already overstimulated.
But his mouth is on you. His tongue lapping at the mess between your thighs, tasting you both. His hands slide up your back, gentle, worshipful, while his mouth devours you like prayer.
You gasp. “I—I don’t think—I can’t—”
“This isn’t for you,” he says, kissing the back of your thigh.
You laugh, breathless. “Oh.” Your newly freed hand drifts back, playing with his hair. “Excuse me, sir.”
“You’re excused.”
His tongue. Long, slow strokes, chasing the mess he left behind. He groans into you, hands spreading you open like he wants to see everything. (He does.) And then you feel it—his fingers sliding back inside, two at first, maybe three, and he’s careful, gentle.
Too gentle.
You’re already soaking, already stretched, but it doesn’t stop him from using what’s left of him inside you to ease the way. He pushes deep, tongue circling your clit with maddening patience, and your whole body shudders.
When you think you don’t have anything left, he always knows better.
“Aaron—” Your voice cracks.
He hums like he’s pleased with himself. One long, slow curl of his fingers inside you and you see stars. Pressure climbs so fast it knocks the breath from your lungs. You claw at the sheets, hips rocking back against his hand, desperate.
“I don’t think—” you try, but then his mouth closes over you again, and you surrender to the inevitability.
“Yeah, there it is. Yes, you can.” You can feel his words against your skin. It’s very distracting. “That’s it, sweetheart. You’re right there, aren’t you?”
His voice is quiet but firm, guiding you through it like he’s walking you across a threshold. You can feel it building in your belly, burning behind your ribs, your whole body tightening around the pressure.
“Don’t run from it. You’re doing so good—so good for me.”
His mouth doesn’t stop—tongue laving your clit just the way he knows you need, not fast, not frantic, but devastating in its precision as he speaks into your skin. His fingers keep stroking you inside, curling up into that spot that makes you see white.
“You’re close—I can feel you. Come on. Let go.”
You’re keening now, legs shaking, hands fisting the sheets, your body winding tighter and tighter. You fight to relax, knowing he can get you there without tension.
“I’ve got you. You’re safe. Just give it to me.”
He sounds like he’s begging now, but not because he needs it. Because you do. Because he wants you to fall apart, to feel everything he can give you.
“That’s my girl. Let me feel it. Come for me, come on—”
And when it hits—when the heat crests and your breath escapes in a broken moan—he doesn’t stop.
“That’s it. There she is.”
He groans as you pulse around his fingers, your thighs quivering. He keeps licking, kissing, letting you ride it out. Falling at your feet.
“Jesus, you’re beautiful when you come,” he murmurs, more breath than voice, his cheek brushing your thigh, his fingers still buried deep as aftershocks roll through you.
“I could watch you fall apart forever.”
When he finally pulls back, he kisses the small of your back. Soft. Grateful.
“You’re unreal,” he murmurs. “You know that?”
You can’t answer yet. Your brain is static. All you can do is breathe, trembling and wrecked, hips twitching when he kisses the inside of your thigh. He guides your hips down, sliding one knee at a time back on the coverlet until you’re flat and relaxed.
It’s slow, and soft, and absolutely sticky with the afterglow. You’re still trembling a little—not quite shaking, but your limbs feel loose and jelly-warm, your muscles useless in that delicious, just-fucked way. You can’t stop smiling, which would be embarrassing if Aaron didn’t look so smug about it.
He kisses your forehead first, then your cheek, then your jaw—working his way back up until you turn your face into his and kiss him full. Sweet, unhurried, a little lazy. You can taste the both of you on his tongue and—
Maybe you did want him to finish in your mouth.
“Can you walk?” he asks, barely above a whisper.
You huff a laugh and roll your eyes. “Rude.”
“Valid question.”
“Some of us are still young and spry and very capable.”
He grins, presses another kiss to your temple. “Mhm. Tough talk.” He swats your ass and your breath chuffs with a little, exhausted noise. “Alright, my little baby deer. Up you go.”
You do your best to follow instructions, but your legs are indeed so shaky you have to hold onto the bed frame for stability.
You look over your shoulder. “I hate when you’re right.”
He looks awfully satisfied with himself as he saunters over to you, around the bed to your side.
You swat at him, but he tucks an arm under your back, another behind your knees, and carries you to the bathroom like the smug, post-orgasmic man he is. You nuzzle into his chest and mutter something about how absurdly hot it is that he can lift you like this after a rousing round of extracurriculars.
He helps you wash up—warm cloth, gentle hands, careful kisses to your shoulder as he towels both of you off. You brush your teeth together in companionable silence, bumping hips when you lean for the sink. You spit and catch his eye in the mirror.
He’s already looking at you.
“Staring,” you tease.
“Admiring,” he corrects. “I’m allowed.”
You narrow your eyes playfully and say, “Don’t make me kiss you again.”
He shrugs. “Make me.”
”That doesn’t even make sense.”
“Why don’t you do something about it, then?”
So you kiss him again, low and slow. He holds your face in his hands like you’re made of glass, his thumbs tracing your cheekbones.
By the time you finally crawl into bed, your body’s humming, your skin smells like his, and you’re wearing one of his old academy t-shirts. You curl into his side like it’s instinct. His arm hooks around your back. Your leg slides over his. And he exhales, like the day is finally over.
Like this is the part he was waiting for.
“You alright?” he asks quietly, mouth near your hairline.
You nod. “You?”
“Never better.”
You nuzzle into him and whisper, “I believe you.”

If you plan to print out risky political flyers, important informational zines, or any other risky prints you might want to keep some privacy with:
Consider anonymizing your prints.
Most printers leave dots that give identifiable information on the prints. The dots on the prints can be decoded by forensics.
The identifiable information when printed can be prevented with a software called DEDA.
Link to software's repository:
Quote from DEDA repository:
DEDA - tracking Dots Extraction, Decoding and Anonymisation toolkit
Document Colour Tracking Dots, or yellow dots, are small systematic dots which encode information about the printer and/or the printout itself. This process is integrated in almost every commercial colour laser printer. This means that almost every printout contains coded information about the source device, such as the serial number.
On the one hand, this tool gives the possibility to read out and decode these forensic features and on the other hand, it allows anonymisation to prevent arbitrary tracking.

“you’re so smart it’s scary. and yet, you just fell for a post that said ‘gravity is a scam made by the big ladder.’”
will still throw slurs under his fake account at anyone that tries to come after you.
itoshi rin
“get off the internet. log off. i’m blocking you from twitter.”
you: reading a post that says “the mitochondria isn’t real.”
also you: seeing red.
he watches you scroll past rage bait like, “no... don't take the bait... dammit.”
“you know better. you literally know better.”
gets mad with you but refuses to engage.
he’s just staring at you spiraling over a troll who said “logic is fake” and muttering, “wtf is wrong with this generation.”
turns off your wifi like a concerned parent.
“you’re not arguing with someone named @cattboysupreme69. go read a book.”
kaiser michael
“you’re falling for rage bait again, huh? i love this dumb little hobby of yours.”
finds it hilarious that you get so fired up over random garbage takes.
literally records you pacing and ranting about how “emotions are valid sources of decision making, actually.”
“schatz, you’re a valedictorian. why are you beefing with someone who said ‘plants don’t have feelings so vegans are evil’?”
fully encourages it for fun.
“no, no, quote them. let’s go viral.”
brags to his teammates like, “my girl’s a genius and also beefing with half of conspiracy tik tok. goals.”
secretly reports every troll you argue with behind the scenes. he’s protective in a petty, passive-aggressive way.
itoshi sae
“this is why i hate people. and also why you shouldn’t be online unsupervised.”
you fell into a rage trap that said “women don’t belong in STEM.”
sae, watching you rage-type a dissertation just said, “block them and move on.”
you: “no. they need to be educated.”
he takes your phone.
“they don’t. they have 12 followers and use comic sans unironically.”
quietly annoyed but impressed that you always come with facts.
lowkey reads your arguments later and thinks, “damn. my girl snapped.”
would absolutely start threatening people if they get too bold with you.
“she might be arguing like it’s a thesis defense, but if any of you make her cry, i’m breaking your nose.”
shidou ryusei
“babe, you’re smart as hell, but you’re also fighting with rage bait like it personally insulted your dog.”
thinks it’s hilarious.
“they said books are just dead trees. you really gonna let that slide?”
you: frothing with rage “i will not let that slide.”
shidou: eating popcorn and hyping you up “go off, professor! educate their ass!”
he will 100% jump in and start trolling with you.
“yo, babe, say something about their spelling. that always pisses ‘em off.”
gives you an award when you get someone to delete their comment.
“queen behavior. love that for you.”
nagi seishiro
“can we not. like ever. please.”
the most done every time you scream: “WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE SUN ISN’T A STAR AND IT’S A PLANET?!”
he just wants to play games, not watch you get into a 14-comment back-and-forth with a dude named @trumpfan420.
“you’re literally a genius. why are you arguing with people who think australia doesn’t exist?”
lies on your lap and sighs dramatically.
“you’re lucky you’re cute when you’re mad.”
secretly proud of how well you school people, though.
once tried to help you argue but got bored after one sentence.
“i told them ‘L’ and left.”
mikage reo
“you’re academically brilliant. and also very online. it’s like watching an intellectual gladiator fight trolls.”
every time he hears “REO. THEY SAID SHAKESPEARE WAS MID.” he already knows what’s happening.
you’re pacing around the house, typing furiously, quoting sonnets and throwing in stats.
“you’re smarter than the entire room but still letting a 14-year-old with a controversial hot take ruin your night.”
he makes tea and sits beside you while you rage.
“need a bibliography link, baby?”
lowkey brags to others: “yeah my girl just flamed a whole subreddit with APA formatting.”
you’re his little chaos genius and he loves it.
“you’re going to be a nobel prize winner and twitter’s most feared debater at the same time.”
karasu tabito
“you’re out here fighting for your life against rage bait and i’m living for it.”
watches you with popcorn like it’s live TV.
“ohhh here they go. someone said philosophy is just overpriced poetry. let’s gooo.”
he fully instigates sometimes.
“babe, someone said gravity isn’t real. thoughts?”
you start ranting, and he just grins like an agent of chaos.
“why are you like this?”
“why are you like this?”
says he’ll block the trolls for you. ends up ratioing them with memes instead.
y’all are the duo that trolls the trolls and then drops a full essay for fun.
if anyone dares say “women can’t argue,” karasu just goes, “you sure about that?” and lets you annihilate them in 5k characters.

I just. I don’t really want to keep talking about it, but I have to get these feelings out because the more I think about Somerton’s excuses video the angrier I get, ESPECIALLY given his insistence in the video that there isn’t a real community within LGBTQ spaces—specifically this quote; “We wanted it to be a channel where every queer person could feel welcomed... And we failed at that. That is something that, in hindsight, I think is impossible to create.”*
Because wow! Aren’t you the one who called Becky Albertalli, a bisexual woman, straight ?? Aren’t you the one who has consistently stolen queer and lgbtq people’s work as your own , profiting off of their labor and research and time? Aren’t you the one who sicced your fan base on smaller creators who noticed your plagiarism??? Aren’t YOU the one who LIED blatantly about lesbians “historically having it easier” than gay men ?? That LIED about Radclyffe Hall’s book being banned and destroyed???? What was it you said?? That she got to go on with “her merry little life”???
Fuck you. How dare you.
How dare you say there is no community, no safe space for all of us, when you have literally done NOTHING but maliciously and consistently stolen from, lied to, manipulated, and put down and bullied the community.
You have done nothing but try to break apart and put down your lgbtq siblings, so of course you believe that solidarity, safety, and intersectionality within our community is not something that can exist.
There are lgbtq people who are actively working to make those spaces, where everyone feels welcomed, but you clearly see yourself as being above that, above collaboration and community, above listening to other’s experiences.
You only think that a space where all queer and lgbtq people are welcomed and feel safe is impossible because your goal was never to carve out that space. It was to make money and take advantage of the people who looked up to you.
You think it’s impossible because you never once thought about the people you were stealing from, never once cared about the community, our history, the activism of our elders and all they did, never thought about how your actions and lies would hurt the community.
Stop making excuses and lying. Be fucking better.

HERMES, PLEASE. I'M JUST A DEAD PROPHET
(Hermes x Tiresias) (FERAL HERMES📌)
written by: Han Espiritu
---
[Underworld – The Fields of Asphodel]
Tiresias, the famous blind prophet of Thebes, was minding his own business, doing dead guy things, like standing dramatically in the mist and occasionally offering cryptic advice to passing souls.
Then, like a comet of chaos, Hermes crash-landed in the Underworld, skidding across the ground and nearly knocking over a few spirits.
"WOAH—!" BAM.
Hermes popped up immediately, brushing dust off his shoulders. "Alright, that was dramatic. But also? Sexy. Ten points for me."
The souls of the dead muttered.
Tiresias sighed. "What are you doing here, Hermes?"
Hermes gasped, clutching his chest like Tiresias had just declared him the love of his life. "Oh, gods, you said my name. Say it again. Say it slower."
Tiresias pinched the bridge of his nose. "No."
"NO?!" Hermes clutched at his chest, staggering back like he’d been stabbed. "How cruel! How devastating! I travel all this way, risking my very immortal beauty, and you reject me??"
"You're a god. You're literally immortal either way."
"But my heart isn’t, Tiresias! My heart is fragile, delicate, like a baby bird—"
"Gods, no."
"—and you just drop-kicked it into Tartarus!"
Tiresias turned to leave. Hermes reappeared in front of him instantly.
"You. Are. Stunning." Hermes grabbed Tiresias' hands, staring at him like he was the answer to every riddle in the cosmos. "Your aura? Electric. Your voice? Like ambrosia. Your wisdom? Sexy as Hades. Tiresias, my love, my light, my ever-foresightful snack—"
Tiresias ripped his hands away. "STOP calling me a snack."
"But you are!" Hermes threw his arms up. "You are a five-course prophecy meal, and I am a starving, desperate god!"
"Then go eat somewhere else."
"Impossible. I crave only one thing—" Hermes smirked, leaning in close. "—and it rhymes with ‘your divine attention.’"
Tiresias groaned. "That doesn’t even rhyme."
"Shhhh, darling. Feel my poetic prowess in your soul."
"You don't even have a soul."
"Exactly, which is why you must fill the void in my heart!"
Tiresias tried to escape again, but Hermes wrapped himself around him like a koala.
"I’M NOT LETTING GO," Hermes declared.
Tiresias stood there, sighing deeply, calculating how much ghostly strength it would take to pry off a literal god.
From the shadows, Hades and Persephone were watching, sipping wine.
Persephone leaned toward her husband. "Should we do something?"
Hades shook his head. "No. This is the best entertainment I’ve had in centuries."
Back to the chaos, Tiresias finally turned to Hermes and spoke in the calm, measured tone of a man who had lived too long and seen too much.
"If I go on one—ONE—Underworld stroll with you, will you leave me alone?"
Hermes gasped. "ARE YOU ASKING ME ON A DATE?!"
"No."
"It SOUNDS like you’re asking me on a date."
"It’s not a date."
Hermes was already fixing his hair. "Alright, babe, but I’m picking the route, and we are holding hands the entire time."
Tiresias groaned. "I'm already regretting this."
"Oh, you won’t regret anything," Hermes purred, winking. "By the end of this, you’ll be begging me to take you to Olympus."
Tiresias sighed but let Hermes drag him along.
Hades clapped his hands together. "I give it a month before Tiresias falls for him."
Persephone sipped her wine. "Two weeks, tops."

The Mai Akasaki Mystery Flower - Solved?
feat. a mini-dissection of Mai's name
Hi! I have seen a few people here guessing what the flower on Mai’s tattoo is (mostly camellias iirc)… and I think I have the answer!
I think it’s Ochna integerrima, which is also known as the yellow Mai flower. (Hoa mai vàng is it’s Vietnamese name). Yes, the answer may be that simple: the Mai flower is literally the Mai flower. It seems to match her tattoo and is a very similar shade to her eyes.
(Note: I found most of this information in February last year when I just searched ‘mai flower’ on google and saw the results and was like ‘huh?’ and went down a rabbit hole from there lol.)
The flower has great significance to the Vietnamese Lunar New year, or Tết, short for Tết Nguyên Đán. They are used to decorate homes and are in full bloom during Tết, which is around late January to early or mid-February and lasts for around 7-10 days, which also lines up with Mai’s birthday (February 1st).
(please correct me if I am wrong, I got this information from Google and I am not Vietnamese and have never celebrated this holiday myself!)
There is a legend associated with the flower as well, which I believe might help explain what happened to Mai Akasaki.
https://botanicgardens.uw.edu/about/blog/2022/01/31/lunar-new-years-and-the-legend-of-the-mai-flower/
The following is copy-pasted from the above website:
"The Mai flower is named after a heroine in Vietnamese lore. Mai, a young warrior set off with her father to slay a giant serpent which had been terrorising their village. Mai’s mother gave her a bright yellow áo dài (traditional Vietnamese dress) to wear when she returned, so her mother could see her coming. Sadly, Mai ended up sacrificing her life to save her father from the serpent. Impressed by her heroic feats, the Gods made her a saint and granted her the ability to return home to her parents during the Lunar New Year celebration. After her parents passed, Mai transformed into a tree in front of her family home which blossomed with yellow flowers every year. Over time, the villagers would collect branches from this tree and decorate their homes for Lunar New Year."
And here are two other websites I looked at when researching this story:
https://scootersaigontour.com/legend-of-yellow-apricot-blossom-and-peach-blossom-on-vietnamese-new-year/
https://heritagevietnamairlines.com/en/the-tale-of-the-yellow-mai-flowers/
This leads me to believe that Mai sacrificed herself trying to protect the cast from a large threat, perhaps the mastermind/MonoTV, or sacrificed herself during the HPA operation that @1moreff-creator mentions in their post Everything We Know About Mai Akasaki + So Many Theories – @1moreff-creator on Tumblr. (this post is basically the Mai bible, please check it out!)
Additionally, MonoTV’s Mai-related secret quote “It’s all your fault”, and the second anniversary code with the same message, and some of the other Mai secret quotes talking about her in past tense imply that she has already passed, and that the cast is the reason why, which could mean she sacrificed herself for them... so I don't think she is the mastermind!
Her surname can also potentially provide us with clues.
“aka” means red, the same colour as her hair
“sa” means bloom or blossom, a reference to her flower tattoo
“ki” means hope, and why that is important is pretty self-explanatory if you've seen anything Danganronpa related
and "saki" means blossom of hope
(These are all Japanese meanings. I just used google for these translations, I do not know Japanese).
This means that her sharing the same name as this flower is likely not just a coincidence, but a deliberate choice by DRDTdev.
Submitted Surnames with "red" in Meaning - Behind the Name
Tenma Saki | Project SEKAI Wiki | Fandom
(yes I just cited the project sekai wiki as a source in my drdt theory, I don't know how I got here either)
The only problems with this theory that her flower is a Mai flower (that I know of) is probably the Literature Girl Insane flowers and the flowers in the bonus episodes being different colours. For the LGI flowers they may just be different flowers altogether that are there to symbolise something else, or a different aspect of Mai... I'm not sure. And the bonus episode flowers could just be coloured differently for aesthetic purposes.
tl;dr The flower on Mai's tattoo may actually be called 'Mai', it suggests she sacrificed herself and probably isn't the mastermind and her surname reinforces the idea that her name choice is not a coincidence.
This is my first tumblr post so apologies in advance if anything about the formatting is weird! Also critisism is appreciated, I would love to hear your thoughts on this :D

Well, I was tagged in this reblog (linked for context because that post is wayyyy too long already and I’m prone to run on sentences) so I am going to respond to the part of this that @doublel27 quoted me on.
I want to make some things clear before I start:
Critiquing shows does not mean I always hate those shows, few shows are perfect, and for me it is worth discussing what a show did and did not do well.
I do not care if people like the shows I do not like, and I do not care if people do not like the shows I like. It is extremely rare that people agree on everything in the same piece of media. Everyone is entitled to their own enjoyment of their preferred media and I guarantee you that Shan, Turtles, Ben, Twig, etc. etc. will say the same. Also, since you mentioned Twig’s post about We Are, please let me direct you to the episode of The Conversation where Twig, Ben, and NiNi talk together about their differing opinions on that very show. And in case you were genuinely concerned about Ben and Twig’s feelings on the quality of Thai BLs this year, you can stick around for the second half where they talk about Knock, Knock Boys! Hopefully that will assuage your fears.
Some of the issues I have with vague posting are (a) it can lead to confusion, especially in a case like this where, according to you, maybe boys do love posted a response to eight different people’s commentary simultaneously without attributing which op’s thoughts he was responding to at any point. (b) By bundling eight responses in to one post without @ ing people, it makes it seem like he has misinterpreted other people’s commentary or taken something in intentionally bad faith (c) other tumblr users in a fandom will let people know when an “unrelated post” makes commentary specific enough to be recognized as a response to someone else’s statements thus drawing them in to the conversation. It’s why I prefer to be tagged in responses to the thoughts I share. This is a public forum, whatever I post in here is able to be reblogged, tagged, or commented on. If I didn’t want people to interact with my posts…I wouldn’t post them. If you don’t feel comfortable tagging people who you are responding to, then at least acknowledge them in your writing. We love a cited source.
I don’t love policing language, but since you were more than happy doing it in your post, then I’ll say one thing here: the tone of maybe boys do love’s post does not read, to me, like it is intended to welcome people who appreciate that there is “not a single stance about what qualifies BL as good work.” It reads like it is “reminding” the supposedly eight people he is vague-posting about that they are being unreasonable in their expressed opinions. It especially does not read with the primary intention of welcoming others when Maybe Boys Do Love’s response to Turtle’s initial reblog was to comment on her “respectfulness” and Shan and Ben’s lack thereof simply because they blocked him on Tumblr. A thing which people do every day for any number of reasons. But I digress.
As for my part in your response, you referenced a statement from my tumblr post A Pause for Reflection: Part 2- Only Friends, Racism, and the Commodification of Queer Asians:
“We all need to, but white Westerners especially, be extremely careful and introspective with the ways we are engaging with queer Asian media”
On the seriousness of this statement, doublel27, you and I are agreed. I think it is valid to state that this should apply to the decisions of writers, directors, etc. of BLs. And I also agree that preventing infantilization and removal of agency from writers, directors, actors, and audiences is a good addition. That said, I do not think critiquing media is in any way shape or form an infantilizing or agency-removing act.
I do, however, think you are falling victim to the western paternalism/white saviorism you are so upset about by going on to a South East Asian woman’s post and chastising her about not speaking for a South East Asian audience when you are a white westerner?
Also, I think there I might be missing a step in your logical progression when you say “I’m of the opinion that what’s good for queer Thai television is not for foreign audiences to decide, ultimately. That’s for queer Thai people to decide.” It would amaze me greatly if this hypothetical monolith of queer people in Thailand were to be 100% in agreement about what constitutes good queer television. Personally I see your belief that no one outside of queer Thai people is allowed to critique queer Thai shows as actually undermining the legitimacy of this genre as a source of entertainment for audiences outside of just queer (in this case) Thai people. Media is frequently made with an intended audience in mind, but that does not mean people outside that target audience are barred from engaging with it. No one is saying “this is a bad queer Thai show and I am deciding that for all queer people” they are saying “here is what or why I did not like the decision they made about x,y,z."
If you are going to quote me, then I hope you also read the first half of my Pause for Reflection posts Taking Pause for Reflection- Part 1: Respectable Promiscuity and Only Friends where I talk about respectable promiscuity and discuss the ways in which respectability politics have resulted in “current LGBTQ+ political movements shifting away from highlighting sexual liberation as an aspect of queer culture, in order to make queer people more palatable to the overarching heterosexual society. And how that bleeds through in to the kinds of media that exist, the types of queer people portrayed within that media, as well as how often gay sex is shown, the type of gay sex shown, and the number of gay sex partners depicted. (Read: generally infrequently, generally vanilla, generally one).” Just so you are aware of where I stand in all of this and what people like Shan and myself are talking about when we critique the decision to remove sexual content from queer stories for the sake of storytelling or viewership.
I haven’t mentioned this one in awhile but I used to talk a lot about my perception of queer content being able to be categorized in By, For, and About Queers formatting. For example, a film like Pariah (2011) is a story about a queer person created by a queer person with a narrative that feels like it is made for the enjoyment of queer people above all others (but of course anyone can watch).

^I think this was made by abl, who I am not tagging because I do not want to drag them in to this conversation, but whose image I still want to cite.
This is obviously subjective, and I’m not saying it should always be used, but I know some people can find it nice to organize things by categories.
Again, this is subjective but I’ll give a short list of a couple of BLs that I personally would categorize as being For queer people- by which I mean it feels like a love letter to queer people, I can see something of myself and my experiences in it, and I would not be surprised if the primary intended audience was queer people:
I Told Sunset About You
The Miracle of Teddy Bear
What Did You Eat Yesterday
Koisenu Futari
Here is a short list of some BLs I would personally categorize under About queer people- that is, queer people are the main characters but the piece feels like the primary intended audience is not queer people:
Kiseki: Dear to Me
KinnPorsche
My School President
Spare Me Your Mercy
That does not mean the shows about queer people aren’t queer stories, but it does mean the intention behind the work is different. Which brings me all the way back to Spare Me Your Mercy since that’s what started all of this in the first place:
Lux Sirilux in an interview before the show came out stated:
“Having NC would steal the attention of the story because what we were going to talk about was dark drama and euthanasia.”
She also says:
“The characters are gay, but we don’t offer [fan]service in every episode or include NC (explicit) scenes."
(I got these statements above from this post by clariredaring who I am not tagging in this because I do not want to pull them in to this whole ordeal any more than they already have been).
Lux is absolutely allowed to make the decision to remove NC scenes from SMYM if she believes that it will detract from the vibe and the overarching theme. Sammon is absolutely allowed to approve and accept the removal of NC content from the Spare Me Your Mercy television show. No one is arguing that. (And I feel comfortable speaking for Shan here at the very least because we talk about shows a lot and I know what her post was actually saying as it relates to viewership). I already wrote a post about my feelings on this matter where I discussed why I feel that choice went wrong in this case. That does not mean anyone else has to feel that way, and I’m not forcing anyone to agree with me. And if people disagree with me, fine, they are welcome to discuss with me why they feel like the story worked as is if they want to and ignore me if they don't. (And literally as I was writing this a great example of someone disagreeing with me came through in this post by elimstillnotgarak who I will not be tagging in this simply because I don't want to drag someone who is not involved in this in to a very different discussion). But there is a level of disingenuousness that comes with the statement 'you should not say anything negative ever about the stories you have watched from cultures outside of your own.' I'm not saying this is the belief you hold, but I am saying that is how I interpret your statements about not speaking for a queer Thai audience.
And, as someone who has written multiple essays breaking down sex scenes in BLs, let me just say that I believe there is a fundamental difference between NC scenes and fanservice. I think there are instances where fanservice can result in positive changes (The Magnus Archives, for example, updated their ending after seeing how much fans were shipping Jon and Martin together and I think the ending was better for it) but I think there are a lot of times when fanservice actually does undermine the narrative. As for NC scenes, there are definitely ones that detract from the story at hand, and there are ones that I think people throw in as a bandaid in the hopes that they can get higher viewership (Playboyy and Battle of the Writers are examples of that imo) but I think there are a lot of times when NC scenes actually improve the narratives they are a part of expressly because they can tell you a whole hell of a lot about a character’s relationship and feelings to another person in a very short period of time.
For me, I think Sammon and Lux here engaged in respectability politics operating under a belief that NC scenes between these queer characters would take away from the larger story they were trying to tell. And I think that the believability of the romantic relationship between Kan and Tew suffered for it. This is a show that already was written for a larger general audience because most of Sammon’s work places some medical mystery narrative at the front and center (which makes sense because she’s a doctor).
And personally doublel27 I feel you are drawing a false equivalency between critique and infantilization and I would appreciate it if next time you quote me, you make sure you read the entirety of the post so that you can better understand that I will continue to be critical of people who submit to respectable promiscuity and make the choice to tone down the queerness in their story because they are worried it will distract the audience at large.

I wanna hear your top 5 bullshit philosophers! (Dropped out of my german philosophy graduate degree a few years back myself. Minima Moralia even was in the toilet book pile in my previous flat)
oh, with certain pleasure. please keep in mind that i don't think that these philosophers are bullshitting, neither am i making any judgement on their merit as philosophers - these are simply my most quoted philosophers, and when i invoke their name in casual conversation to deal psychic damage to my friends, i certainly am bullshitting. now you can also do the same to your friends and hit them with austrian philosopher ludwig wittgenstein because they burned the pizza! so here are, in no particular order:
5 quotable philoposphy texts to invoke in casual conversation
On Certainty, by Ludwig Wittgenstein (1984) - link to text
to be able to say "my god, Wittgenstein was right. there are no certainties" every time something new and excitingly terrifying happens on the news or when the bus doesn't come
Theodicy by Freiherr von Gottfried Leibniz (1710) - link to pdf
to be able to say "no Leibniz was right, this is the best of all possible worlds" to absolutely derail any conversation about god being real or when you are eating a really good cookie
Economy and Society, by Max Weber (1921) - link to pdf
to be able to say "weber was right, bureaucracy only serves itself" as a poignant critique about how institutions can prevent progress and also when complaining about the long line at the DMV
Technology of the Self, by Michel Foucault (1982) - link to text
to be able to say "fuck, focault was right, self-optimization is a disease" to discuss the ruse of modern "self-care" in the oppressive context of capitalism and to throw at that one friend who is a bit too much on that grind
The Logic of Scientific Discovery, by Karl Popper (1959), link to pdf
to be able to say "karl popper was right, proven wrong once again!" whenever new exiting science gets published, you admit defeat in a stupid argument that went on too long, or when you see a black swan (let me know!).
and last but not least, honourable mention:
On Jazz, by Theodor W Adorno (1980) - link to pdf
to be able to say "adorno was so wrong, this music goes hard" whenever jazz comes on to remind all your friends that adorno had some truly unhinged takes about jazz of all things. seriously why did he say all that
that's all. don't forget to have fun and be yourself and cite your sources!
#german philosophy#man this was so much fun to compile what a walk down memory lane i haven't reread some of these in so long#thank you for asking sorry it took me so long i had a migraine#LOVE YOU BYE

So your the one Manipulating and gaslighting misguided and misinformed people into thinking endogentic systems are a thing?
Did is a traumagentic disorder. Many MANYY specialist's in did said that endogentic isnt a thing and that there is no research to endo's and that its all misguided information or false information.
You have caused people harm before and are continuously doing it.
As a traumatic system none of us think what you are doing is ok nor right.
Please do actual research on the disorder. Not false misinformation.
What specialists? Can you name them?
I'm not interested in going over my sources again. I just did that the other day, and you can find them here:
I can name multiple sources that say you can be plural/systems or have self-conscious dissociative parts/distinct personality states without trauma or a disorder. Dr. Eric Yarbrough, Dr. Colin Ross, Dr. Michael Lifshitz, the World Health Organization's ICD-11.
I can name other sources that are... at least neutral on the idea stating that it may be possible to have self-conscious dissociative parts without trauma but that more research needs to be done. These include the actual creators of the structural dissociation model.
I have cited and linked multiple sources supporting my arguments.
If you think it's impossible to be plural without trauma, if you think that I'm spreading misinformation, it's up to you to actually demonstrate that you're right. Prove it to me!
Name the doctors! Give me an exact quote where they said this!
Otherwise, this is nothing but an argument by assertion! You are asserting you're right and expecting me to go along with it. Which just isn't how I roll. 🤷♀️

goddard - law of assumption lecture notes :

“tonight will be on the law. i think you will find it a very practical evening.”
some notes i took on a lecture straight from the source himself! this is lengthy but worth reading if you want to learn more about loa directly from Neville Goddard, the man who widely taught and coined the term.
✦ a brief prelude :
please keep in mind that you do not have to read this entire post to shift. in the end, it all boils down to one point -
*what you believe wholeheartedly, without question, is what your reality becomes.*
that is all you need to know in order to shift.
this lecture is just an expansion on the idea for those who want to learn more about the details of the Law of Assumption. i’m posting this because i find the study of the loa fascinating, and i think these quotes and takes from Goddard are worth sharing with the community and shifters like me who appreciate an academic breakdown of these concepts.
i’ve tried my best to simplify the language i use to make this easier to digest. it’s a lot of info that i think is all important, but i’ve highlighted the key takeaways if you’re in a tldr mood :))
this lecture directly challenges Christianity. if you are a Christian, these ideas may seem like they go against your belief system. however, it is important to understand that by the nature of the Law of Assumption, if you believe in God, God exists.
the point is that you have the God-like ability to decide and therefore create objective reality through your beliefs, and if that is in Christianity, that is your decision (the same is true for those who practice Buddhism, Hinduism, atheism, agnosticism, general spirituality, etc.)
it is also important to remember that shifting does not go against any religion, and that the ideas surrounding reality shifting are prominent within certain religions.
— — — — — — — — ✿ — — — — — — — —
✦ you have the power of a god :
answering the question of “the cause of the phenomenon of life.”
uses Christianity as a reference / comparison point - likely due to the fact that the audience he was speaking to was predominantly Christian, as the lecture took place in America around the 1950’s in which Protestant Christianity was the most prominent religion at the time, practiced by nearly half of all Americans - provides various lines of scripture from the Bible and breaks down religious language as evidence to his claims (i’m not going to type out every quote, it’s all spoken in the linked video)
asks who is the "one God" that scripture speaks of? - when a Christian is posed with this question, the answer from them would have to do with someone/thing that is external to themself
when posed with the question of who imagination is tied to, the answer has to do with the internal self - “. . .if i spoke of your imagination, i am certain you will think of no one but yourself. could it be that your imagination is the God of scripture?” - cites a particular scripture from the Bible as proof, “‘. . .That I, even I, am He. . .I kill, I make alive. I wound, I heal. And there is none that can deliver out of my hand.’”
references accessing the mental plane (4d) to manifest desires - “Shut your eyes, close your senses completely, and you can reproduce it [your desires] in fancy.”
so, through these points, Goddard is basically stating that you are God. i recognize the magnitude of that statement, it’s lot to take in haha- - but it makes sense! especially in regard to the Law of Assumption. we are the creators of our reality, the “gods” that decide how things go through what we assume about ourselves and the world. - Goddard is very adamant on the idea that you are God, but for those who believe in a higher power, it would make more sense to believe that you are God-like; the concept can change slightly depending on religious beliefs - ultimately, Goddard is making us realize just how much power we wield as shifters / followers of the loa, it is akin to that of a god’s.
✦ your imagination is your reality :
the (mental, 4d) image proceeds the objective fact (the physical, 3d) - “. . .objective reality is purely produced through imagining. . .It is all within us. Our own wonderful human imaginations. . .”
the individual is the cause of the phenomenon of their own life, and possibly the lives of others around them - “You could be, if you are vivid in your imagination, the influence in the imaginations of unnumbered people. . .If they are passive, they fall under your influence. . .those who are not in control of their imagination. . .simply sway from side to side as you in control move them.”
this take reminds me of how anything, from how false narratives created by the media to cult leaders, can literally construct new realities for people who trust in their words. people who are not willing to question the sources they get their information from live in a distorted reality created by a person who tells them what to perceive and believe in. - Goddard goes on to reference dictators as an example of this, “If you can’t do it, and some dictators have tried to do it, they’ll bring in their propaganda machines, and then they try to force Man into a certain shell, into a certain state. And quite often they succeed, up to a point. But you, without the aid of any machine in this world, you can change the structure of your world by the control of your own wonderful human imagination.”
once again, this is a loaded and frankly frightening realization, but it all leads back to the fact that we have access to a power that is incredibly far-reaching and influential. our ability is limitless.
✦ how to use this ability :
Goddard explains how “reason” (the 3d) can initially interfere with one’s assumptions and becoming aware of a desired reality. but as long as one is persistent in their belief, the 3d will change into objective reality. - “You can sit down in this very moment and begin to dream the most glorious dream in the world, concerning yourself. At the moment of the dream, reason denies it, your senses deny it. But if you dare to assume that assumption. . .and persist in that assumption, it will harden into fact.”
defines the Law of Assumption as: If I dare to believe that what I have said will come to pass, and not question it. . .it will come to pass. - “. . .if you really believe it, you can start now—this night—and change the world in which you live. . .What would it be like if it were true? If I am now the man I would like to be, or the woman I’d like to be?”
brings up the importance of once again ignoring the 3d until you have reached your desired reality. - “‘I resolve to be…’ and you name it. Not based upon the evidence of your senses, or what reason dictates, but a wish on your part.” - references Shakespeare quote: “. . .he which is one who wished, until he were. . .I am the man I wanted to be, it began as a wish." - “Your imaginal activity is actually producing objective reality.”
Goddard literally explains that shifting to a different locational desired reality is possible with the following quote: - “Man must be wherever he is in imagination. . .so I will simply imagine myself to be elsewhere, if that’s where I want to be.”
persistence in the belief of the new assumption is key to making it manifest in reality
“It is entirely up to us, what are we going to do with this creative power of the world, when we ourselves are that power?”
✦ conclusion (my additions) :
honestly, it feels a bit egotistical at first when realizing the fact that you have always had a god-like ability, and you’ve never had to work to access it, because the power literally is *you* (well, technically your mind, but ykwim). - the Law of Assumption literally places yourself on the same level as a divine being- it’s insane to try to comprehend that.
but it is true, because you have the power to create- you’ve always had the power to create, and now that you’ve become aware of that, the options on what to create are limitless. - i think that humility is an extremely important trait to maintain regarding the use of loa. it is an honor to be able to know about this ability and the endless possibilities that come with it, and it should be used in a responsible manner.
as long as you are persistent in your assumptions, believing in them no matter what your physical surroundings show, you will find yourself in your desired reality. it really is that simple. again, there are no limits to what you can create.
i feel like this lecture has a “with great power comes great responsibility” vibe to it lol- like especially at the end Goddard is really trusting that we will do good with this information. - i think if he knew that the majority of those on shiftblr are using this knowledge to pursue their passions, experience magic, cuddle with their s/o, and engage in generally positive and fulfilling activities, he’d be proud.
— — — — — — — — ✿ — — — — — — — —
this lecture was great to listen to! the loa is something that i’ve only recently become aware of, and it’s already helped me so much in terms of how i look at and go about the process of shifting. it’s made me realize that it really is that easy.
if you have any questions about these notes / the actual lecture (which i've linked as a content source- lmk if you have trouble accessing it), feel free to ask via the comments or "ask me anything!"

However, I don't know how to feel about Levi because of the real source material (Isayama interviews, smartpass story and side material like that…) and the 'professional' Japanese translators on this blog. I think he really is, according to the correct Japanese translations and Isayama interviews, he is really dragging humanity through the mud for his personal feelings… and he is someone who is floating and aimless because of Erwin's death… So much so that Isayama even thought of killing him many times because he didn't know what to do about him and threw him aside… also I guess he has no interest in women… oh and Ackerbond is probably real… I know it's not a canon ship and I know he's not in love, but that doesn't mean it's not written too reductively to Erwin. And it disgusts me…
Because of the source material, side material, canon discourse and Japanese translator blogs, my opinion of him is changing more and more and I think I will throw my LevixOc project in the trash… Levi is really someone who (because of Isayama's writing) has been hypnotized by Erwin's own goals and has taken control of Levi's entire character and actions. I don't think I could take him (or s/o) out of this hypnosis.
I know you can say "Isayama's opinions can change" or "only what is in the manga is canon" and I used to hide behind that for consolation, but I realized that once Isayama said it, it was true and it stayed there. And I think the interviews are necessary to understand the content of the scenes etc. in the manga.
Even analysis is no longer a comfort for me… after all, why need complicated writing when interviews and manga are the source of what really happened there…
I guess he's not the character I thought I wanted… I wish he was his own man… I wish he wasn't a character to be discarded just because he died because of another character… or someone who is too picky and only accepts high standards… (this is just my own opinion based on the manga and the material/opinions I think Canon!Levi would be like that)
I'm deeply disappointed… As delulu as the Eruri fandom is, most of what they say is unfortunately true… after all, they take real sources and cite them as evidence… I don't think they are mistranslating because there are professional cold-blooded translators in this fandom and most of them quote what that blog says…
I wish I had never encountered this fandom and this character, so I wouldn't have to be so upset all these years…
Except that half of the interviews are either fake, completely twisted or don't exist. Especially that flaoting ballon bullshit, which a lot of Japanese fans say wasn't even said.
I will this again, please read the manga on your own and base your opinions on Levi on your own.
Since you already mention Eruri and i might ruin your day here but Eruri is as canon and Levihan is, it isn't. No Levi never prirotized Erwin over humanity and you'll understand that if you read the manga for yourself and analyse it for yourself without letting the fandom get to you.
Levi is his own man, he has his brain to think with and the only people who think he doesn't are shippers. Not once did Levi put his own selfish desires before humanity for anyone, he was as sad about Erwin's death as he was for the rest of his comrads. Not a single instance in the manga/anime or any actual official interviews given by Isayama was Levi reduced to Erwin, only a shipper would think that way. Oh and Ackerbond thing too, not only is that damaging to Levi's character, it is just creppy and definitely not a thing.
I am sorry anon but it seems like you don't understand Levi and his character at all. Isayama always said that Erwin and Levi were equal and sworn friends, he didn't say that because he hid some sort of hidden romance between the two, he said it because that's how it is, its a strong bond of trust and commandership and reducing it only to "Oh Levi is a love sick puppy who only cares about Erwin." is a mischaractertion at max.
My advice to you is to take a break from the fandom is they are making you not like your oc x Levi anymore, that's the best way to get them out of your head and please, base your own opinions, not what people online say.
#levi#levi ackerman#attack on titan#aot levi#captain levi#anonymous asks#also to point out#this isnt about all shippers#most are sane and can actully be talked to#and then there are some who have to harass and bully people for not shipping a fanon ship

How to reference in your grimoire
If you intend on sharing your grimoire with the public or you're a fan of a more academic style of writing then you're gonna want to reference your sources to avoid any kind of plagiarism.
You may have already learned how to reference at your college/uni, in which case follow that method, but if you haven't let me show you what i've been doing in my grimoire.
The referencing style I was taught in my degree is a form of APA 7th edition. This style is best for essays and small research papers and since my grimoire is essentially a bunch of mini contextual essays stuck together I thought it was appropriate.
Here's the format:
Author Surname, Author Initials. (Date of publication/release). Title of source: sub-heading/title of chapter. Publishing company/website. Place of publication/website link. [Format]
So for example, the book I'm currently reading is Buried by Professor Alice Roberts. If I were to reference this book in this format it would look something like this:
Roberts, A. (2023). Buried, An Alternative History of The First Millennium in Britain: Water and Wine. Simon and Schuster. London. [Book]
(Its up to you whether you decide to put the chapter before the book title, it doesn't make a difference, but I prefer doing it this way.)
This reference will need to follow an in-text citation. You can do that by adding a little number in parentheses next to your quote or paraphrase that corresponds to the number on your list of references OR you can make a mini reference following this method:
(Author Surname, Author Initials. (Date of publication). Page number if required)
So following this method an in-text citation would look like this:
(Roberts, A. (2023). p1)
Tips
If you are citing a source with multiple authors, organised them alphabetically by surname, your in text citation only needs to include the first one.
If you're referencing an online upload of an old source like Internet Archive or Project Gutenberg, include the original authors name first, uploaders name/ID second and mark which is which in parenthesis, then the date of original publication if you can find it, followed by the date it was uploaded to the site.
If you are referencing a film/TV episode, use the name of the director and include (Dir) next to their name.
If you can't find a date of publication/upload then write DNA instead.
Always put your references at the back of your grimoire. If your grimoire contains multiple chapters, group them by each chapter and then organise either alphabetically or chronologically. If your in-text citation uses numbers, organise your reference list chronologically. If you're using a mini reference, organise your reference list alphabetically.
This last bit is especially important for practitioners who intend to publish their work. Please please please do not skip referencing! I've read so many traditionally published witchcraft books who's authors don't do this or do it half-assed and I can't stand it.
Readers deserve to know where your information is coming from so they can be the judge on whether or not it's appropriate for them to practice themselves. Not doing so creates a cycle of ignorance among readers and new practitioners that encourages the spread of cultural appropriation, poor media literacy and poor historical and scientific understanding. Always cite your sources.

hi more academic writing suggestions from a TA:
- don’t over use direct quotations. it just makes it seem like you don’t actually understand what the author is saying. if their phrasing is just so perfect you can’t say it better, include the quote, but then explain your understanding of it
- cite. your goddamn. sources. you don’t only need citations where you have a direct quotation. you’re making a claim? where did you get that evidence from so i can double check. you’re paraphrasing an author? what page. where did they say that. please.
signed, i just read a really cool paper that got seriously dinged marks wise for these exact reasons
#the devil lillith on my shoulder#like these are things that are important#oh you forgot to italicise your title or didn’t perfectly follow MLA format? i’ll live#but please. citations. please. i bed.#beg*
